The House of The Dead Remake | SuperPod Game Club
Game Club gunned down some zombies in House of the Dead Remake!

This week we are shooting the breeze about games we are playing, simping for corporations that don't love us, and of course...The Rez Trance Vibrator. From food blogs and Dark Souls death-sounds, to simple games for people with no stamina - we got it.
[00:00:00] Welcome back to Super Ghost Food Blog.
[00:00:02] I have the same thought the entire time you guys are talking about fucking cheese and whatever.
[00:00:08] I'm like, why is it every single time?
[00:00:10] Hey, hey, you throw some respect on cheese.
[00:00:14] I'm fine with cheese.
[00:00:16] Cheese and I have a normal relationship with each other.
[00:00:18] What's that supposed to mean?
[00:00:20] You're the weirdo with the cheese.
[00:00:21] I like cheese.
[00:00:23] Greg, you like cheese?
[00:00:24] I do.
[00:00:25] There have been times where I've wondered if you like cheese too much.
[00:00:28] Yes, he does.
[00:00:31] Oh man.
[00:00:33] You do not like cheese.
[00:00:35] There have been times where we'll be on call and he'll be like, oh yeah, I got some cheese.
[00:00:39] And you'll eat the cheese and you'll sound like a Dark Souls character getting hurt where you're like, oh.
[00:00:44] You can just say he's having sexual experience.
[00:00:47] Well now, come on.
[00:00:49] I just made the connection the other day that when a Dark Souls one character gets hurt, they sound like they're fucking coming.
[00:00:54] Where there's like, oh.
[00:00:57] I feel like there's not a lot of distinction between like moans of pain and pleasure.
[00:01:04] Oh my God.
[00:01:05] Like that's just true.
[00:01:07] You're like watching any TV show and like someone it's like, oh, they're like, you know, crying in pain or moaning in pain.
[00:01:12] I'm like, hmm, sounds the same as those characters.
[00:01:15] I don't know.
[00:01:16] But I know it's close, but like those Dark Souls characters are enjoying it for sure.
[00:01:20] That makes a lot of sense actually.
[00:01:22] They like this hard game.
[00:01:24] They're just like, oh, it's a hard game for a couple of reasons.
[00:01:30] This is our topic of the day.
[00:01:35] Games that make me hard.
[00:01:37] Hard games that turn Jerry on.
[00:01:40] I also have an issue sometimes watching just fucking anime and I'm like turning down the volume because I'm like someone's definitely thinking I'm up here just straight watching porn on my.
[00:01:51] Your phrasing of I have a hard time sometimes even watching anime after the topics and the things you were discussing.
[00:01:59] I was like, Jerry, I don't want to know this about you and your anime.
[00:02:03] You're just eating and you're eating cheese alone.
[00:02:06] I'm like, yeah, it's called head time and it's hard.
[00:02:11] Yeah, exactly.
[00:02:14] Welcome back to Superghost radio.
[00:02:42] I am your host Jerry.
[00:02:43] And as always, most of the time, especially today, finally, finally we're all back or back baby.
[00:02:51] We are with one Greg and with one Beth.
[00:02:55] There's no duplicates.
[00:02:56] It's just the three of us only one there can be.
[00:02:59] No promises.
[00:03:03] Say hello both you guys at the same time.
[00:03:06] Hi.
[00:03:07] Hi.
[00:03:08] So close.
[00:03:09] So close.
[00:03:10] So you can just edit it in post, you know, but I don't I don't want I mean I could but I don't want to I want to actually get it get it at the same time.
[00:03:18] That's that's where the magic happens.
[00:03:20] You really line it up without editing.
[00:03:24] That's what's up.
[00:03:26] So what what's what's up with you like Beth, how was your how was your time off in the shadow zone?
[00:03:34] The shadow zone.
[00:03:35] Is that where you guys put me?
[00:03:37] The shadow realm.
[00:03:38] The shadow.
[00:03:39] I beat you at Yu-Gi-Oh!
[00:03:40] Oh, it was by my grace that you come back.
[00:03:44] Okay.
[00:03:45] All right.
[00:03:47] Actually speaking of Yu-Gi-Oh!
[00:03:49] My my brother, my brother is in town and over the past couple of months, both of my cousins wanted to have me teach them how to play Yu-Gi-Oh!
[00:04:00] So last night we did a little bit of a quote unquote tournament between the four of us and I fucking won.
[00:04:09] Real cards or?
[00:04:11] No, Yu-Gi-Oh!
[00:04:13] No, no, like the real cards like physical cards.
[00:04:15] Yeah, yeah.
[00:04:16] All real cards.
[00:04:18] All the four of us.
[00:04:20] My brother brought his you know, his elemental heroes deck.
[00:04:24] I had my crystal beasts.
[00:04:27] Were you like were you yelling like super moves as you're like slamming cards down?
[00:04:33] No.
[00:04:34] We don't have names.
[00:04:36] Did you like reveal a trap card and go not so fast?
[00:04:40] No, I do like the casual like someone does something and then I just like flip the trap card over while I make direct eye contact with them and I'm like not according to my trap card.
[00:04:54] If I was at a Yu-Gi-Oh tournament I'd be saying not so fast all the time.
[00:04:58] Do you know how to play Yu-Gi-Oh?
[00:05:00] Do I know how to play Yu-Gi-Oh?
[00:05:02] Not really, no.
[00:05:04] Okay.
[00:05:06] I'm sure I could learn.
[00:05:08] It's not that hard.
[00:05:10] But not really, no.
[00:05:12] Like I tried like my problem is I played that game and I tried to learn like a link deck which is difficult.
[00:05:18] No, no.
[00:05:20] I should have just picked like a base beach dragon deck just to learn.
[00:05:24] Yeah.
[00:05:25] But you know, whatever.
[00:05:27] Yeah.
[00:05:28] I play Yu-Gi-Oh and I still don't really get links.
[00:05:31] Like I don't buy I don't fuck with them if I look up like a deck to build or something that like an archetype that I think is interesting.
[00:05:38] And it's like oh these three link cards are needed.
[00:05:41] I'm like I move on.
[00:05:42] I do not want that.
[00:05:43] I'll deal with like synchros and X, Y, Z.
[00:05:49] And I can do like all the other things.
[00:05:51] I just hate the links.
[00:05:53] And actually I hate pendulums.
[00:05:54] Those are like the two types of decks I just don't want to fuck with.
[00:05:58] Beth, how did you like Queen's Blood?
[00:06:03] I didn't.
[00:06:06] You didn't like Queen's Blood?
[00:06:08] I didn't enjoy it a whole lot.
[00:06:10] I think it was a worse version of like something I in general do get into is like card game systems in JRPGs or I try other things.
[00:06:23] Like I at least try them out to see if I like them, but I didn't enjoy Queen's Blood.
[00:06:30] It felt like I like triple triads in Final Fantasy 14 more.
[00:06:37] There's a card game that is in the second or the third and fourth Trails of Cold Steel games that just feels like Yu-Gi-Oh as well.
[00:06:47] And like that, that's good.
[00:06:49] I love those types of things with Queen's Blood.
[00:06:52] I played for a little while.
[00:06:56] Also I have to say, anytime you force me to do a mini game to progress the story, I hate it a little bit more.
[00:07:06] How did you feel about the last boss in Final Fantasy?
[00:07:09] Oh my god, I don't want to talk about it anymore.
[00:07:16] No, no, no. I'm kidding.
[00:07:17] I'm over it.
[00:07:19] Look, here's what I propose.
[00:07:22] Why don't we talk about and why don't we get caught up on stuff that we are actually currently playing and like, well, maybe not liking, but stuff that we're currently playing?
[00:07:31] Because Beth, I mean, it's a shot in the dark.
[00:07:34] Sometimes you're like, yeah, I've been playing this game.
[00:07:36] We got like 60 hours in it and I fucking hate it.
[00:07:42] What have you been playing?
[00:07:43] What have you been playing?
[00:07:44] You took some time off to be in the Shadow Zone because Greg banished you there, but surely you got to play some video games.
[00:07:55] I honestly haven't been playing anything really.
[00:08:00] Then what is it all for?
[00:08:02] What?
[00:08:03] I said then what is it all for?
[00:08:05] I don't know.
[00:08:06] I think like after doing Final Fantasy 7 remake and then Unicorn Overlord back to back and having such a personally a negative experience with Final Fantasy 7 rebirth and then real.
[00:08:23] I mean, I love Unicorn Overlord, but that was like another game that I put like a lot of time into.
[00:08:30] I just kind of like, I don't really want to.
[00:08:33] I don't want to play anything.
[00:08:35] I'm not finding anything that's like really drawing me in.
[00:08:38] I think like there's like a couple games I can think about that are coming out this year that I am looking forward to.
[00:08:44] But besides that, even like my backlog doesn't appeal to me.
[00:08:48] I'm a little bit on a a little bit of a hiatus.
[00:08:52] I've been kind of like tooling around doing dailies and stuff in 14, but that doesn't count.
[00:08:58] You ran some stuff with me, helped me get some of those.
[00:09:01] Yeah, those Aether currents and stuff.
[00:09:03] That was kind of fun.
[00:09:05] What I have been doing though is that it's coming towards the end of the this season for the Pokemon video game championships.
[00:09:18] And I've been training.
[00:09:21] I haven't been training.
[00:09:22] I've been watching.
[00:09:24] I will, you know, whenever the tournaments are on, I'm like watching every weekend that they're on.
[00:09:28] I'm watching the regionals as they happen.
[00:09:31] But I've been like fully deep diving into like Pokey tubers like who just focus on like I don't care about your shinies.
[00:09:41] I don't care about your game.
[00:09:42] I don't care about any of that stuff.
[00:09:43] I'm like, give me your analysis.
[00:09:45] Like I've been jumping in and like really getting into people who are breaking down like analysis of like Pokemon teams, like how to do building what like the curve is good in the current meta.
[00:09:58] What used to be good?
[00:09:59] Like I'm like tearless everything like I'm so in that right now that it's I think that's another part of the reason why I'm not getting into anything else a whole lot is because when I am playing something or even when I'm playing something,
[00:10:14] I want to be like I want to be watching someone do like do doubles in Pokemon.
[00:10:24] I'm just like, what can I throw up so I can who can I find and like throw up on my iPad so that I can like watch them do some double like current regulation doubles for like an hour or two?
[00:10:36] I mean you could always watch me play some video games or something.
[00:10:40] I don't want to watch you play video games.
[00:10:42] I want to watch these people play Pokemon.
[00:10:44] I'm so in.
[00:10:45] I love it right now.
[00:10:46] I'm like understandable.
[00:10:48] I get it.
[00:10:49] Yeah, the new like the newest regulation started.
[00:10:54] So basically just like the newest rule set and the first regionals tournament of the new like rule set was just this past weekend.
[00:11:06] And it was so much fun to watch.
[00:11:08] Like the more they're like the at the beginning of a regulation, like people are getting so weird and creative with like their team building.
[00:11:18] And it was just a blast.
[00:11:20] And what was extra fun about it is like a lot of the Pokemon that were going into the tournament.
[00:11:29] Everyone was like, oh, these are the Pokemon that you know are going to be scary.
[00:11:34] And these are the ones that were discounting.
[00:11:37] Like we don't think this is going to be a real threat.
[00:11:39] Someone showed up with six meows.
[00:11:41] No, the people like people who won and the people who were like the top like the finals were two teams that with like Pokemon that people were like, oh, this one's probably good, but maybe not.
[00:11:56] It's not going to be a big deal.
[00:11:57] And just like showed up and just was getting like one hit KOs everywhere.
[00:12:02] And everyone was like shocked.
[00:12:03] The casters were like popping off because they were like, oh my God, like how is this doing so much damage?
[00:12:10] Like it was really satisfying because it was like the whole community.
[00:12:15] Go.
[00:12:16] Yeah, exactly.
[00:12:17] Whatever.
[00:12:18] But it was fun.
[00:12:19] Get them Pidgey's.
[00:12:21] Well, I mean, it's kind of funny that even in your downtime with video games, you're still consuming something with video games to some capacity.
[00:12:32] Yeah, you can never get away.
[00:12:35] No, and I think it's like even when I'm like, I don't want to play anything.
[00:12:41] I still love video games.
[00:12:43] And I love watching people experience things like in these games or whatever.
[00:12:48] Like if I'm sometimes when I'm like, oh, I don't really feel like starting anything or playing anything.
[00:12:53] I just go watch people like who are playing through Final Fantasy 14 for the first time and think other things like that.
[00:13:00] I'm like, oh, you know, I want to watch someone have like experienced the twist and turns of Danganronpa.
[00:13:05] So let me find somebody who is playing that.
[00:13:09] So it's always fun to do that, too.
[00:13:12] Yeah.
[00:13:13] Greg, you've been playing any video games?
[00:13:18] Um, kind of not really a little bit.
[00:13:22] Dave the Diver.
[00:13:24] Playing more Dave the Diver and enjoying that one kind of hit a wall on a boss, really tough boss.
[00:13:31] Oh, really?
[00:13:32] Yeah.
[00:13:33] Yeah.
[00:13:34] Yeah.
[00:13:35] Absolutely.
[00:13:36] Those bosses are ton of bosses.
[00:13:37] Interesting.
[00:13:38] I think I think you would you would like I think you would actually really like the bosses in the Diver because they're they feel very robot master ask not in terms of like really not in terms of like do like they are weak to something and like that.
[00:13:51] But in terms of like, like you had the way they move around the screen and like learning movesets and things like that.
[00:13:56] I think you kind of enjoy that.
[00:14:00] I do like that kind of thing.
[00:14:01] Well, yeah, there's a ton of bosses, tons of bosses in David.
[00:14:05] Oh, yeah.
[00:14:06] If I remember correctly, did you watch any of Fallout?
[00:14:11] I finished it.
[00:14:12] Oh, okay.
[00:14:13] We watched the first episode the other night and holy shit.
[00:14:18] That that shows as a good show.
[00:14:21] That's a show.
[00:14:22] That's a really good show.
[00:14:24] It's funny because like I remember when they announced that it was and like I think it was like right around the time that they kind of announced that the last of us was going to become a show.
[00:14:34] And I remember just kind of being like, okay, here we go.
[00:14:37] Another game that's going to try to do like the TV adaptation thing.
[00:14:41] But I don't know, man.
[00:14:44] That first episode knocked my socks off.
[00:14:47] Like that was that was a wild shit.
[00:14:50] Yeah, it's it's a really good show.
[00:14:52] Really good show.
[00:14:54] It's a lot more like visceral than I was expecting it to be.
[00:14:59] Like I know like Fallout isn't like a PG-13 game by any stretch of the means, but like the show wasn't holding any punches, man.
[00:15:10] And you know what I thought was interesting about or something I kind of liked about it is that it like will zoom in and then you'll see like somebody's arm get shot off or whatever.
[00:15:23] And I'm like, it emulates like the way that you.
[00:15:27] Oh yeah, like that's.
[00:15:28] Yeah, you do that like the vats and stuff.
[00:15:31] And I was like, that's clever.
[00:15:32] I like there's little things that are I feel like they do with the action or whatever the fuck that is like.
[00:15:41] Oh, here's a little nod to how the gameplay mechanics were.
[00:15:46] That's cute.
[00:15:47] Yeah, it was really cool.
[00:15:49] And I really like that that main character.
[00:15:52] I've only watched the one episode, so I can't really remember what her name is.
[00:15:55] Lucy?
[00:15:56] Yeah, she's really cool.
[00:15:58] And of course, holy crap, man.
[00:16:01] The ghoul?
[00:16:02] Man, that guy like that guy just acts his dick off in everything he's in.
[00:16:08] Walton Goggins?
[00:16:10] Yeah, I can never remember his name and I always remember it something like ridiculous sounding.
[00:16:15] Walton Goggins.
[00:16:16] He often plays like the same kind of character.
[00:16:19] Like the southern speaking, like smooth talking kind of guy.
[00:16:23] Or like cowboy or something like that.
[00:16:25] But yeah, he does a good job in most things that he's in.
[00:16:27] Yeah, he's fantastic.
[00:16:30] What else is he in? I haven't seen him in anything.
[00:16:32] I don't think.
[00:16:33] We just recently seen him in The Righteous Gemstones.
[00:16:37] He's baby Billy.
[00:16:39] The Righteous Gemstones and he's fantastic in that show.
[00:16:41] The first thing that always comes to mind for me is, no, but again cowboy stuff, but is Shanghai Noon because I watch it so much.
[00:16:50] What? He's in that?
[00:16:52] Yeah, he's in that.
[00:16:54] Oh my God.
[00:16:55] A young Walton Goggins is in Shanghai Noon.
[00:16:58] Oh man, I should throw that on.
[00:17:00] I've been watching the, I don't know why, but lately I've been just like when I go to bed, I just look up like 90s and 80s movies on Plex.
[00:17:10] And I just throw on a random between 1985 and like 1995.
[00:17:16] That's like my sweet zone.
[00:17:18] I'm just like random shit.
[00:17:20] And it was funny the other night, I just like threw on True Lies.
[00:17:24] And then I realized I've never seen True Lies.
[00:17:27] And I just was like, I got to turn this off because this movie is pretty good.
[00:17:31] Yeah, True Lies is a good movie.
[00:17:33] I was not falling asleep.
[00:17:34] I was just like, oh, show me more.
[00:17:37] Show me more.
[00:17:40] And yeah, no, I watched that first episode of Fallout.
[00:17:44] Probably going to watch a bunch more of that.
[00:17:46] I recently, I went to log on and play Final Fantasy 14 yesterday.
[00:17:55] And I don't know what the hell's going on with Final Fantasy 14 online yesterday, but...
[00:18:01] They got a DDoS attack.
[00:18:03] Final Fantasy 14 getting DDoSed was not what I was expecting to walk into when I tried to sign on last night.
[00:18:12] And it kind of, it painfully reminded me of how shitty it feels when you just want to play a game.
[00:18:23] Because like, I'm not looking to go on and play with people right now.
[00:18:27] I'm just kind of doing my own thing, getting through the back end of Endwalker.
[00:18:33] And like, I just wanted to play the fucking game, man.
[00:18:37] And I can't.
[00:18:39] I can't even play the game.
[00:18:41] Which I know, I get it.
[00:18:42] It's an MMO.
[00:18:44] But like, I don't know.
[00:18:46] It was a painful reminder that I can't just play that game whenever.
[00:18:51] And then I also kind of started having flashbacks of when Endwalker came out.
[00:19:01] And I was not able to play that for two days.
[00:19:04] And you guys were merrily skipping through that without me.
[00:19:08] Well, I promised this time I'd play with you the whole time.
[00:19:13] So...
[00:19:15] And for this, I'm grateful.
[00:19:17] For this, I am grateful.
[00:19:20] Don trail comes out, Jerry.
[00:19:22] Don't worry, you're not getting left behind.
[00:19:26] No man left behind this time.
[00:19:28] Before...
[00:19:29] It is in your hands.
[00:19:31] Do not let me get that FOMO.
[00:19:33] Don't you dare let me get that FOMO.
[00:19:35] I can if I'm not doing it.
[00:19:37] I will not do a dungeon or a trial or any of that without you.
[00:19:41] Don't worry.
[00:19:42] I'll start when you start.
[00:19:44] And then I might play more than you, but I'll be doing...
[00:19:46] I'll do side quests in between waiting for you to play if I have a couple extra hours.
[00:19:53] I will not...
[00:19:54] There will be beast tribes that need your help that I will neglect.
[00:19:58] Not usually at launch.
[00:20:00] No, not until after.
[00:20:02] But I still have jobs that aren't at level 90 that I can level up through the beast tribes.
[00:20:10] I got things.
[00:20:12] There's so much in this to do.
[00:20:14] You got some stuff.
[00:20:15] There's so much other stuff in this game.
[00:20:17] All this to tell you that when I went to play the game and then I couldn't, I was like, well, shit.
[00:20:25] Now what am I going to do?
[00:20:27] Well, I guess I'll play some other video game because I don't know.
[00:20:31] I get weird.
[00:20:32] I'll have my headset on playing something and I could have thrown out Metal Gear Solid 2 because I'm still not through that.
[00:20:39] But like, I don't know.
[00:20:40] There's something about it that just chapped my ass that I was like, I can't play the thing I want to play right now.
[00:20:45] This is...
[00:20:46] This sucks.
[00:20:47] So then I'm just kind of like looking through, you know, kind of like you were saying, like I'm just kind of like looking through my PC backlog, like looking through Steam.
[00:20:56] I'm like, yeah, no, I don't really want to play anything here either.
[00:21:00] And I went over to Game Pass and I was like, oh, yeah, I installed that Crab game.
[00:21:07] And then it took me a second to remember, like, why did I install this?
[00:21:11] Because I don't even remember if I thought that this was going to be good.
[00:21:15] So then I click on it and I'm like, oh, wait, I think I did get excited about this when they showed off like the launch trailer.
[00:21:23] And I threw that on.
[00:21:25] And let me tell you something.
[00:21:27] Another Crab's treasure is really good.
[00:21:32] Yeah.
[00:21:33] Oh, it is so good.
[00:21:36] It's like a it's a mixture between sort of souls, I guess.
[00:21:42] But also I feel like I get a lot more like Breath of the Wild slash Tears of the Kingdom as well.
[00:21:52] There's like a there's a really cool mechanic about like the shell that you use, which is essentially your shield.
[00:22:00] But it has this like Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom kind of thing going where like there's shells all over the place and they all do different things and they all have their strengths and weaknesses.
[00:22:14] And they break.
[00:22:18] So like you're constantly having to like swap out shells and find new ones.
[00:22:25] And like because you're having to swap out the shells, like you're having to like think about how you're going to like, you know, fight in certain situations because like some of them allow you to dodge roll a lot quicker than others.
[00:22:39] But then some other ones have like abilities attached to them that are really neat.
[00:22:45] Beth, you'll be happy to know that this is essentially a Souls game without a stamina meter.
[00:22:51] When you messaged that to me, I was like really when I finally got it when I read it, I think I was like really tired.
[00:23:03] And so when I saw the message, it was like, Beth, you'll be happy to know this doesn't need stamina.
[00:23:09] It's like what I saw and I was like, is he telling me I've got no stamina?
[00:23:13] Like me as a person, I was like what the fuck does me not having any stamina have to do with anything we're talking about?
[00:23:18] Like had been talking about and I had to scroll up a couple messages before I understood like that you were talking about a video game.
[00:23:25] Yes, I'm talking about endless ocean, Beth.
[00:23:27] It requires no stamina for you to play that game.
[00:23:30] This game is perfect for weaklings like you.
[00:23:33] Exactly.
[00:23:34] It's not untrue, but like you don't need to say it like that.
[00:23:42] Yeah, I seem kind of funny.
[00:23:45] They like previewed this game last summer because it was like one of those.
[00:23:51] I don't know if they got access to a demo or like they do this thing sometimes in the summer and then like the devs of these indie games come on
[00:23:58] and like let them play for a little bit on stream so that they can kind of show off while the dev talks to them.
[00:24:04] And another crab's treasure was one of the ones that I saw like them do that with like last summer, I think.
[00:24:10] And it seemed interesting and they mean they said it was like very souls inspired for in a lot of ways, but that they wanted to do obviously their own kind of twist on it.
[00:24:20] And they wanted it to be something that was also a little bit more like approachable.
[00:24:26] So it's not it's not it's not like it's it's not easy.
[00:24:31] Yeah, the first boss I died to a few times, but it's it's one of those things.
[00:24:37] And I can definitely see where it was borrowing from souls with that because like with that alone, like it's it was one of those situations where like in a lot of the souls games, the first boss is basically like a hey, this is your tutorial.
[00:24:53] You better learn how to fucking play this game now or else you're not getting past this thing.
[00:24:57] And it was basically that it was a trial by fire kind of thing.
[00:25:02] And it kind of made you learn about like the shells and doing that kind of stuff.
[00:25:07] But like, it has a really cool vibe to it.
[00:25:10] Like it kind of feels like if Dark Souls took place in like fucking Bikini Bottom because like, yeah, it's just it's just this really fun kind of setting where like, you know, there's like all these different like crustaceans and different like ocean.
[00:25:27] Like plants and environments and like it's just really cool to just be jumping around.
[00:25:34] And the other thing is, too, I and this is where I kind of get the Zelda vibe from it.
[00:25:39] It's got a lot of platforming and stuff going on, too.
[00:25:42] It's a lot less like grounded as like as a souls game and more.
[00:25:48] There's a lot of verticality.
[00:25:50] Like you get a you get a hook shot, like really, really close to the start of the game.
[00:25:56] And it's it's a lot of fun.
[00:25:59] And I mean, even just like the fluidity of the game is like the controls are really tight.
[00:26:05] And it's just I don't know.
[00:26:07] It's just like a really solid playing game.
[00:26:11] But you're you're right, though.
[00:26:12] It definitely is like a more accessible souls game.
[00:26:16] Yeah, it's it's a souls games for weaklings like you.
[00:26:21] It's the introductory title type babies for souls game.
[00:26:25] Yeah, yeah.
[00:26:28] But I think I'm going to keep going with it.
[00:26:30] I looked up how long to beat.
[00:26:31] It's not that long either.
[00:26:33] It's only like 12 hours.
[00:26:35] Yeah, kind of nice.
[00:26:37] Like you know what?
[00:26:38] Because that's the thing I'm with you.
[00:26:40] You know, like when I get done a huge game like when I'm when I was playing Final Fantasy seven rebirth and then I kind of reluctantly got back into Final Fantasy 14.
[00:26:52] But like I actually haven't been finding the endwalker stuff has been all that long.
[00:26:59] I've just been taking my time going through it, but I don't feel like it's I don't feel like it's as long as some of the other post game ones.
[00:27:09] But I all the I think all the post game ones are like each patch feels this only takes like two to three hours and.
[00:27:20] Max.
[00:27:23] But yeah, like I was kind of like, do I really want to get into like basically like another RPG?
[00:27:29] But then I was like, this is fine.
[00:27:31] I could just kind of pick at this and then I don't know something refreshing about, you know, throwing on this this another crab's treasure and just kind of getting getting sucked into that.
[00:27:43] I do fully intend on going back to Metal Gear Solid 2 as soon as I'm done Final Fantasy 14.
[00:27:50] Then the other thing that's looming over my head is Stellar Blade.
[00:27:57] Really? Oh, yeah.
[00:27:59] Yeah, I'm probably gonna pick up Stellar Blade this week, I think.
[00:28:02] Okay.
[00:28:03] You'll have to let me know how it is.
[00:28:06] Which how long is that supposed to be?
[00:28:10] You know, Stellar Blade.
[00:28:12] Okay, I'm looking at it now.
[00:28:14] 23 hours. What does it matter, Jerry?
[00:28:16] I'm just wondering because this is the thing.
[00:28:19] I don't want to get into like another 40 to 50 hour game right now.
[00:28:24] I like 23 hours.
[00:28:27] That's okay.
[00:28:28] I can handle that.
[00:28:30] I can do that.
[00:28:31] That's not a big deal.
[00:28:32] Main plus sides.
[00:28:33] 32 hours.
[00:28:34] Okay, that's it's there's a bit of beef on the gills there, but like I can get through it.
[00:28:41] I can get through that.
[00:28:43] But yeah, I don't like there was a part of me that I actually kind of want to after playing this stuff in Final Fantasy 14, I kind of wanted to go play the GBA version of Final Fantasy 4 on my analog pocket because I've heard that that that is a fantastic version of that game along with five as well.
[00:29:07] But again, I just I'm not I don't know right now.
[00:29:10] I'm kind of like I'm in the mood to just play some shorter type games, which I think I'll enjoy going back to Metal Gear Solid 2 quite a bit when I when I'm ready when I'm good and ready.
[00:29:24] Yeah, I guess like I mean I said earlier like haven't really been playing anything and that I still think that's mostly true.
[00:29:32] But right after you know, finishing up with just rebirth and then Unicorn Overlord.
[00:29:42] I actually started playing a bit of Rezogun for the first time because I just was like I need something that I was kind of like.
[00:29:51] Hold on.
[00:29:53] You like schmups?
[00:29:56] Schmups?
[00:29:58] Like shoot em ups.
[00:30:00] Sometimes not always but.
[00:30:04] Well, did you like sections in Nier when you're doing like schmup style stuff?
[00:30:10] Yeah, I did.
[00:30:11] I like how it broke up the other types of gameplay.
[00:30:14] I think I love Nier Automata like so much because of the way it was like forward.
[00:30:22] It was like oh we're randomly just going to switch genres and I was like this is fun.
[00:30:26] This is great.
[00:30:28] I like that.
[00:30:31] But yeah, I like Rezogun.
[00:30:36] I was having fun with it.
[00:30:38] It kind of just reminds me of like a lot of these shorter like do you this is such an old thing.
[00:30:48] Do you guys remember in Entwined?
[00:30:51] It was like one of the very first games that was available through PlayStation Plus on like the PS4.
[00:31:02] Oh this.
[00:31:04] Yeah, and like I was obsessed with that game.
[00:31:06] I loved that.
[00:31:08] Like the having to you know have like the two sticks doing different things and going along to the music and everything like that.
[00:31:18] I just I like that sometimes.
[00:31:21] And then I think I was talking Greg to you about it kind of like after like Rebirth or whatever and you had said also like I think you should play something that doesn't have a story.
[00:31:34] Yeah, like take a break.
[00:31:36] Don't play something that has a story that you are going to get like invested in or upset by or whatever.
[00:31:43] Just like play a game that's just gameplay.
[00:31:45] Just play the game.
[00:31:46] Just play a game.
[00:31:47] It's just the game.
[00:31:49] And it's interesting that like I never ever would have pegged you for someone to be playing Rezogun of all things.
[00:31:57] I mean that's a it's a fantastic game don't get me wrong.
[00:32:00] I just never ever would have thought that you would have played something like that.
[00:32:04] Yeah, I felt well I'm like that's like every I'm like when I go to my PlayStation I'm like oh I want to play something for 20 minutes since finishing Unicorn Overlord till.
[00:32:15] Now when I'm like oh I want to play something on the PlayStation or on the TV for like a little bit.
[00:32:19] That's what I turn on as I turn on and play like like a level of Rezogun.
[00:32:24] Oh my God.
[00:32:26] Okay here look all right hear me out.
[00:32:31] I know that most of the time if I say hey you should check this out I totally think you're going to like it.
[00:32:39] You won't do it.
[00:32:40] You won't do it.
[00:32:43] But hear me out okay because if that's the kind of thing that you want like you're just like I just want to throw a game on and be you know get some satisfaction out of just playing it for 20 minutes but also like I totally know the feeling that you're getting from Rezogun.
[00:33:01] What have I told you?
[00:33:03] There's a genre of game like this that I think you would find very interesting.
[00:33:09] So I said the term schmuck which is a term used to describe these types of games.
[00:33:16] There's a specific genre of these games called cutamups.
[00:33:22] Okay.
[00:33:24] And it's like it's the it's like super anime ass like crazy like magical girl type stuff sometimes or like it's just like pandas that shoot like laser beams.
[00:33:39] It's just like cute anime shit but it's like a game like Rezogun and there's actually a ton of them.
[00:33:46] I would I would be surprised if there's none on PS plus.
[00:33:50] There's probably some there.
[00:33:51] Yeah.
[00:33:52] Like I feel like you might actually be able to get into some of these because like and even like because I know with Rezogun like Rezogun can be fucking difficult.
[00:34:02] Like that's not an easy game but I think with Rezogun can't you scale it?
[00:34:08] Yeah I'm playing on I'm just playing on easy because I am like I want this to be a seamless dopamine hit experience.
[00:34:17] Right exactly.
[00:34:19] So like this is what I'm saying.
[00:34:21] Oh man hang on.
[00:34:24] Well do you.
[00:34:25] So okay as an example have you ever heard of twinbee?
[00:34:29] No.
[00:34:30] Okay well that's out.
[00:34:31] The likelihood of me hearing of any of these things you're talking about is low.
[00:34:35] Oh my god there's one called flying hamster.
[00:34:38] You're playing as you guessed it.
[00:34:41] A flying hamster.
[00:34:43] Do you guys remember that game that came out and it was like Xbox arcade or something that was on the 360 and it was a twin stick top down thing and it had something to do with zombies.
[00:34:55] Like the and there were this tiny little zombies and you were like a tank or something.
[00:34:59] I remember when you're talking about it was.
[00:35:03] Zombie was in the title.
[00:35:07] I'm looking at the list of cutie mumps.
[00:35:15] Some of these names are ridiculous.
[00:35:17] Bumble pig.
[00:35:19] This sounds insane.
[00:35:20] Flying hamster HD.
[00:35:24] Death smiles.
[00:35:26] I've heard of death smiles.
[00:35:29] Twinbee.
[00:35:31] What else we got here.
[00:35:33] Gun bread magical night.
[00:35:37] Oh 100 percent cotton.
[00:35:39] That's another one.
[00:35:41] Was it all zombies must die.
[00:35:42] All zombies must die.
[00:35:44] Yeah.
[00:35:45] I'm going to go with that.
[00:35:46] Absolutely.
[00:35:49] I had a friend who had and their boyfriend lived in deer Lake.
[00:35:54] So on the weekends we would go to deer Lake so she could hang out with her boyfriend and I don't know why she wanted me there.
[00:36:02] They would just like make out on her bed and I'd play.
[00:36:06] I would play his Xbox.
[00:36:09] I would play his Xbox.
[00:36:10] Hey man.
[00:36:11] You want to come to my boyfriend's house and just like play Xbox when we make out.
[00:36:16] I think her parents wouldn't let her go to her boyfriend's place unless like she had a friend go with her.
[00:36:25] Like they wouldn't drive.
[00:36:26] They were like we're not bringing you or whatever.
[00:36:29] I had a friend who was like I'm going to go with her.
[00:36:32] Like she had a friend go with her.
[00:36:35] Like they wouldn't drive.
[00:36:37] They were like we're not bringing you or whatever.
[00:36:40] I never cared at the time but it's the only thing that makes sense now that like I'm an adult like her parents has been like you're 15 and we're not letting you go to your boyfriend's house alone while his parents aren't home.
[00:36:55] You have to bring a friend.
[00:36:57] But I was like I don't fucking care what these people are doing.
[00:37:00] I just show up and play his Xbox and I played a lot of that game because I went every weekend with her.
[00:37:11] Oh my God.
[00:37:13] That is.
[00:37:16] That is so ridiculous.
[00:37:18] Yeah.
[00:37:19] Oh my God.
[00:37:20] Oh my God.
[00:37:24] I feel like it is my duty to at least try to find some sort of schmup game because I feel like.
[00:37:34] I'm like you know what I'm really liking.
[00:37:36] I'm like playing Razogun right now and you're like let me get you to play a different game.
[00:37:41] No no I don't mean like I don't mean like drop what you're doing and play this game.
[00:37:46] I just mean like let me set you up for potentially a genre of video games that you didn't know you liked.
[00:37:52] I did know I liked them.
[00:37:55] I've never heard you even once mention that you like these kinds of games.
[00:37:59] I got layers man.
[00:38:04] The same way I shocked you with the variety of music that I like.
[00:38:08] There's a lot of stuff I enjoy it's just like the things that I'm going to talk about tend to be like things that I have a lot to say about or things that I'm genuinely passionate about or interested in have really good like there's the stories are what I want to talk about.
[00:38:26] I don't necessarily like I'm like oh yeah I can talk for 45 minutes to an hour about something like Razogun like what I can say.
[00:38:36] I mean yeah one game good shoot like no.
[00:38:40] Okay but how about this do you like Star Fox.
[00:38:44] I've played a bit of Star Fox out of friends place and I thought it was fine but I was not.
[00:38:50] Have you not played any anything like that since.
[00:38:53] Well no I've played your I've played games I've played that I've played stuff like that.
[00:38:59] Also like there are levels in other games that are like Star Fox levels.
[00:39:05] Yeah I don't particularly you know care for them a whole lot but I don't mind.
[00:39:16] I don't mind.
[00:39:19] I just I'm I'm just I'm so taken aback that you like a schmup it's just it's.
[00:39:29] Well I need I need you to play more for me.
[00:39:34] Yeah when you were playing that guy's Xbox did you ever play like Geometry Wars.
[00:39:39] Yeah yeah absolutely because anything that was on I played I played all that stuff that was like that early what they call it Xbox arcade right.
[00:39:48] Like that was I played all of those.
[00:39:51] I had hours to burn every weekend so I tried out a bunch of those and yeah I like Geometry Wars and I liked all zombies must die were the kind of two that I remember playing a lot of and really liking from.
[00:40:05] I when I first got my 360 like Geometry Wars was like that.
[00:40:11] I had two games when we first got the 360 one was one was Geometry Wars and the other one was Gears of War.
[00:40:23] And both like fantastic for different reasons both great.
[00:40:28] When I got a PS3 I one of the first downloadable games I got was res.
[00:40:34] You ever play res.
[00:40:36] Oh man res is crazy.
[00:40:38] No but I I know of resin res like I've heard res infinite before of that a lot too right.
[00:40:47] Resin is that.
[00:40:48] Resin is crazy to you.
[00:40:49] That's the I think that released initially for VR only but I think it came out eventually on just like regular VR games.
[00:40:56] I think it came out eventually on just like regular consoles.
[00:41:00] That's the only way I've ever played res is in VR.
[00:41:03] Because there was a person who I don't know if it was kind of funny or easy allies who really liked res and they talked about it often.
[00:41:14] And I've seen gameplay for it but I've never played it myself.
[00:41:20] Yeah because I just remember like those are the two like big like games of that type that I played.
[00:41:28] Wasn't there something to do with res about like some sexual thing.
[00:41:33] What.
[00:41:35] There's no way that I just made this up my head like I know I seen something about this like like hang on.
[00:41:42] I know I'm not I don't know why I'm going to search this res sexual.
[00:41:50] Sexual content.
[00:41:52] Oh oh this is not.
[00:41:53] Res video game.
[00:41:56] You told me you got to add more content.
[00:42:01] Yes I sure do.
[00:42:05] OK so there's an article on wired.
[00:42:08] OK.
[00:42:10] Res's trans vibrator changed the conversation about women's sexuality in games.
[00:42:16] Oh interesting.
[00:42:18] Yeah.
[00:42:19] It's 15 years ago res released with the trans vibrator.
[00:42:24] Wait what it released with what a creative peripheral whose reception reveals a lot about the way we talk about sexuality in games.
[00:42:33] OK OK OK.
[00:42:36] So it was a it was a vibrator res vibrator wonder if I can get one of those like lightly used on YouTube.
[00:42:43] It was a it was a vibrator res vibrator wonder if I can get one of those like lightly used on eBay.
[00:42:51] Lately used.
[00:42:58] That's the.
[00:43:00] The res the res trans vibrator is gaming's most intense peripheral.
[00:43:05] Intense.
[00:43:08] Man.
[00:43:10] Wow.
[00:43:11] This is crazy.
[00:43:13] I'm looking at it right now.
[00:43:15] It doesn't look like what I thought it would look like but no it's a thing.
[00:43:20] See I think it's crazy.
[00:43:22] Hey it exists.
[00:43:24] Kotaku made an article gaming's first vibrator turns 15 years old this week.
[00:43:30] Good.
[00:43:33] Happy birthday res vibrator.
[00:43:36] Still not legal.
[00:43:38] Episode title.
[00:43:42] Oh my God.
[00:43:44] Oh man.
[00:43:46] Jesus Christ.
[00:43:48] Greg what else you got for me.
[00:43:50] Oh can I continue talk to talk about games I've played.
[00:43:55] Because you just you just asked me to talk about the Fallout show and then forgot about me for an hour.
[00:44:04] We might have to talk about what games I've played.
[00:44:08] You gotta contribute more.
[00:44:11] Oh God.
[00:44:13] This guy this guy.
[00:44:15] I'm sorry man.
[00:44:17] Sorry.
[00:44:19] You never been sorry.
[00:44:21] I am.
[00:44:22] How can I prove it to you.
[00:44:24] Let's see.
[00:44:26] Have you heard of Manor Lords.
[00:44:28] I've heard but I know nothing.
[00:44:32] Tell me.
[00:44:34] So Manor Lords I just started playing and it's a it's a a city builder set in like medieval times.
[00:44:41] And it's its thing is like super realism.
[00:44:44] So I've been playing this game and like at first because there's almost no tutorial.
[00:44:53] I've been playing this game like and like with like a video to watch how to do it try to see how it works.
[00:44:58] And it's really really neat.
[00:45:00] Because like you have to keep things in mind like because you play through seasons and then it's like OK so we start in spring but it's going to be winter season.
[00:45:11] So I need to start stockpiling food for the winter and things like that.
[00:45:16] And I was playing on easy mode just to kind of get the hang of it but it still kind of got away from me.
[00:45:22] Really and easy.
[00:45:24] Yeah because like I guess I wasn't paying attention to like you set so you can get in the early game you can get food sources from like two two areas like you can either like it's an early access so you can get forage for berries or hunting.
[00:45:40] I don't know if there's any other options.
[00:45:42] So I was I had I had I had the option for both but I was like OK I'm gonna take the hunting option because it's closer to where I want to settle etc.
[00:45:55] And I was doing that but I didn't realize that at a certain point it stops your hunters will stop hunting because they don't want to over hunt the area and I had way less food and then I went into winter.
[00:46:10] I had a bunch of firewood but like I was dazed to low on food and it was like oh you will starve in two months.
[00:46:17] And I'm like what no I somehow made it through and then I was played a lot differently but it's it's really really it's really fun.
[00:46:27] Like I don't know if you guys ever like fuck with a city builder but it's sometimes fun just to kind of turn your brain off and.
[00:46:33] I love the city builder.
[00:46:34] And play that it's it's it and it's in this one's really good I like that because of the setting it works really well and like.
[00:46:42] It's funny you you have you make these like burghage plots and I've never heard that word before but I guess that's what we called houses back in medieval times and you.
[00:46:51] Burghish plot.
[00:46:53] Burghage plots.
[00:46:55] Welcome to my humble humble burghage.
[00:46:58] Exactly.
[00:46:59] And so you like you.
[00:47:02] You would you like plot where you want it to be like you put down four points and you build in there and then if you make it bigger you could add extensions and things like that.
[00:47:10] I like stuff like that.
[00:47:12] It's really cool it's on game pass if you want to give it a try in early access but yeah it's just I don't know it was like a really really in depth city builder with almost no tutorial.
[00:47:23] Oh really.
[00:47:24] Yeah it's very like there's some stuff but it's very very limited.
[00:47:29] Wow I've yeah I've only heard good things that a little bit that I have heard about it.
[00:47:36] I know some people were clamoring for them to add like a co-op mode or something and then I guess the developers are like nope that's not.
[00:47:44] One person.
[00:47:46] Oh is it. Holy shit.
[00:47:48] Wow it's it is one person making that their game.
[00:47:52] Yeah sometimes I forget actually that I like like a city builder.
[00:47:57] I remember like back in the day of all things I mean you know there's SimCity I do like SimCity but like I don't know why I got really hooked on SimTower.
[00:48:10] Oh really.
[00:48:11] Yeah I thought SimTower was great and from from there I kind of like I I know it's not a city city builder but I think it's a city builder.
[00:48:22] But like have you ever played populace.
[00:48:25] No I haven't.
[00:48:27] I know I haven't played it.
[00:48:29] I used to love that game and all I had was a demo disc.
[00:48:35] I had like I remember like you go to the go to the grocery store or like to the to the Jesus Christ what's the name of the other one was the other store besides the grocery store.
[00:48:49] I mean there's a lot.
[00:48:52] A lot of different stores in this.
[00:48:54] Jesus the drugstore for you.
[00:48:58] That's what I'm talking about.
[00:48:59] Yeah you go to the drugstore and you go to the to the to the magazines grab that PC gamer magazine and give you that demo disc.
[00:49:07] And then sometimes in like almost like a little bargain bin at shoppers drug mart for all you Canadians out there.
[00:49:16] There would be like a 100 games in one like disc that you could get for PC.
[00:49:23] And I remember like I had one of those I think and it had a demo for populace the beginning.
[00:49:31] And I played that thing over and over and over again.
[00:49:35] And then I just realized the other day they added that to game pass.
[00:49:42] Oh yeah.
[00:49:43] And yeah and I'm kind of like you know what you know what might throw on some populace the beginning.
[00:49:53] And then I also seen that SimCity 3000 was also released which is kind of cool because yeah I do like those things but I'm going to install Mannerlords right now actually.
[00:50:09] It's not a very big game and it's it's a ton of fun.
[00:50:13] Nice yes that sounds that's pretty dope.
[00:50:17] That's pretty dope.
[00:50:18] Actually now that I'm looking at game pass I also seen that Jedi survivor dropped on on game pass too recently.
[00:50:28] And right next to that is a game that I was very hype about and kind of just I don't know man it just kind of went by the wayside but you didn't chronicle.
[00:50:38] 100 euros.
[00:50:39] That's like the Suikoden guys and I don't know what happened like I feel like too many things came out since that game came out or was like an hour like when it was announced dude I was like losing my mind.
[00:50:52] I was like this is going to be like a fucking banger of a game and I'm sure probably even still is but I don't know.
[00:51:01] I just I there's so many other things out right now that I'm just like I just completely overlooked it and totally forgot that it was coming out.
[00:51:09] But the guy who is like the creator of that he passed away right before it came out so it's his last one.
[00:51:26] Yeah I know.
[00:51:27] Yeah Rip Bozo.
[00:51:28] Rip Bozo.
[00:51:32] Say Bozo.
[00:51:34] Rip Bozo like Ripperino.
[00:51:36] No no I said Rip Bozo that's what the kids say.
[00:51:38] What?
[00:51:39] That's not what the kids say.
[00:51:41] They do say Rip Bozo look it up.
[00:51:44] I don't believe it and I won't look it up.
[00:51:47] They say Rip Bozo.
[00:51:48] Rip Bozo.
[00:51:51] I also seen that Remnant 2 is now on Game Pass or I don't know how long it's been there but I didn't realize it was there.
[00:51:59] Greg would you ever play that with me?
[00:52:00] I know that you have strong opinions about the first one.
[00:52:03] I get it.
[00:52:04] Would you ever play Remnant 2 with me?
[00:52:09] Probably not.
[00:52:13] God damn it.
[00:52:14] God damn it.
[00:52:15] Such a good game.
[00:52:17] I also seen that Warhammer 40,000 Bolt Gun is up.
[00:52:23] Yeah.
[00:52:24] And that's one of them there.
[00:52:26] Boomer shooters.
[00:52:27] The Boomer shooter.
[00:52:28] And I'm into them.
[00:52:30] I likes me a Boomer shooter.
[00:52:32] Right exactly.
[00:52:33] Yeah.
[00:52:34] Oh gosh.
[00:52:35] What?
[00:52:36] What are we oh gushing about?
[00:52:41] I had a huge sneeze.
[00:52:43] Oh hold it in man.
[00:52:44] Hold it in.
[00:52:45] Hades 2 also now is available in early access if you end up getting it.
[00:52:51] Oh yeah.
[00:52:53] I'm going to wait until the full release but that's a game I'm really really looking forward to playing.
[00:53:04] I wish I was more excited about that but for some reason I'm not and I know I'll eventually play it and I'll probably love it the same way that I loved the first one.
[00:53:14] But I feel like I don't know what it is lately.
[00:53:16] I just feel like I don't know if it's like because of 2023 like just an over stimulation of like I just there was too many things coming out all at once and I still feel like there's remnants of that happening where it's just like holy fuck.
[00:53:34] There's too many games I want to play and I think this is part of the reason why I end up regressing back to retro stuff because I'm just like I'll just go play some retro things because I'm just like I'm going to play some retro stuff.
[00:53:43] Because there's too many new things.
[00:53:45] It's like people have like a comfort show when it's like oh I guess I'm just going to watch Friends for the 700th time.
[00:53:53] Yeah.
[00:53:57] I was I've also been playing Robo quest which is surprisingly really good.
[00:54:04] It's a really fun like this is the run kind of game.
[00:54:09] It's like you have to beat it in one like shot but it's fun because like one thing I don't like in rogue likes is when it's literally like you have to beat it all in one go and that's it.
[00:54:23] But with this like you unlock shortcuts and you unlock permanent permanent upgrades to your character and like there's different classes that you can unlock.
[00:54:35] There's always something that you're like playing toward to unlock to move forward like whether it's like oh because you collect you collect these wrenches through a run and essentially when you go back to like the base camp you can use them to permanently unlock them.
[00:54:53] And then you can actually upgrade things and it could a lot of it is like passive stuff like you know when you start your run your initial chest that gives you your weapons will have like minimum like third tier weapons or something like it'll be like we're going to start you off like something really good.
[00:55:09] Like the first two biomes are just going to be like a breeze and I love shit like that.
[00:55:15] I don't so much like I don't really like so much like when you just don't feel like you're making any sort of progression it's just more of like oh I have to just learn this and get good at it.
[00:55:27] I'm with you. I feel like there's no like I feel like there needs to I need to feel like there is a reward for my time and getting better at something doesn't feel like a reward.
[00:55:38] I don't care them getting better. I want you to give me things.
[00:55:42] Yeah. And that like same thing with Hades. Hades was a lot like that like you do see these like upgrades and passive you know buffs that you get throughout the game and eventually like you know the first time you play that game that person is like oh yeah.
[00:55:57] First just even get to the first boss you're just like holy fuck I actually made it the first boss but then eventually after playing it for so long and getting like more and more upgrades and stuff you're like fucking get through that first level and that boss without even getting touched.
[00:56:13] Yeah, it does make it like definitely easier. What is what what's like one game that you guys are like really looking forward to this year.
[00:56:22] Like if you could pick one game that's coming out this year 2024 and be like if that was the only game I could buy and play this coming out this year. That's when I pick.
[00:56:36] If it comes up this year it would probably be Space Marine 2.
[00:56:42] Okay.
[00:56:44] That didn't come out yet.
[00:56:47] No, no, no, it got pushed to fall.
[00:56:50] Fall. Oh, but like that that one if it came out that's. That's your one.
[00:56:57] That's my one for sure.
[00:56:58] It hasn't come out yet.
[00:56:59] And I guess.
[00:57:01] Yeah, that doesn't count.
[00:57:05] You already know playing 14 it's like 14 the umbrella like then no that doesn't that doesn't count.
[00:57:11] I think for me it's probably a toss up between Shadow of the Erd Tree and Hellblade 2.
[00:57:24] I think it's a toss up.
[00:57:25] Hellblade 2.
[00:57:27] Yeah, Hellblade 2 soon.
[00:57:29] Interesting. Why Hellblade 2?
[00:57:32] I fucking loved Hellblade 1.
[00:57:34] Like I loved that first game.
[00:57:36] It was shocking to me that I waited so long to play it.
[00:57:40] I only played that like a couple of years ago.
[00:57:44] Really? That's interesting.
[00:57:45] Or maybe like maybe it was a little longer than that.
[00:57:49] Sometimes I forget what year it is.
[00:57:52] Time is a flat circle or whatever the hell they say.
[00:57:55] I think it was just before we started this podcast that I played that.
[00:58:00] Yeah, it's been a while since I played that.
[00:58:02] And yeah, that game was incredible.
[00:58:07] And now I'm just realizing Hellblade 2 comes out in 13 fucking days.
[00:58:12] Yeah, really.
[00:58:13] I thought it was like in two months and I was like, that's pretty soon.
[00:58:16] No, it is like I gotta man.
[00:58:18] I oh my God, I got to get my shit together.
[00:58:20] I got to get games done.
[00:58:22] Like I got to clue some stuff up so that I don't clean it up.
[00:58:27] Jerry. Oh my God.
[00:58:29] This is ridiculous.
[00:58:30] You gotta get your life together.
[00:58:32] Get this shit sorted.
[00:58:34] Yeah, for sure.
[00:58:36] I got to get my shit together because there's Hellblade and there's fucking Dawn Trail.
[00:58:42] And then we got Shadow of the Erd Tree.
[00:58:45] There's still a whole bunch of other stuff that I want to play too.
[00:58:47] Like I want to play Lies of P at some fucking point.
[00:58:52] I want to go back and I want to play more Cocoon because that game is a trip.
[00:58:56] And I am for sure going to keep playing another Crabs Treasure.
[00:59:00] But then at the same time, I got all these other retro games that I want to play.
[00:59:04] I want to play through all of the Metal Gear games and well, not all of them.
[00:59:11] I'm not going to play the PS4 one.
[00:59:13] I don't think not right away.
[00:59:15] That's the only one out of the bunch.
[00:59:17] I'm going to play five.
[00:59:19] Yeah.
[00:59:20] Which piece?
[00:59:21] Which PS4 one are you talking about?
[00:59:24] The or no, PS3.
[00:59:28] Oh, you should.
[00:59:29] You would appreciate Metal Gear Solid 4 even more.
[00:59:31] I know.
[00:59:34] Just take your time.
[00:59:37] You know, there's.
[00:59:39] Yeah, with the red.
[00:59:40] Like the cool thing with the retro stuff is like it even though like when these new games come out, it's like, oh, they're always going to be there.
[00:59:47] No need for FOMO.
[00:59:49] But I do. I get it.
[00:59:50] But like with retro games is like, they're always there.
[00:59:52] They're always just hanging out.
[00:59:54] I also started Mega Man Battle Network, which is really, really good because when I got my pocket, I kind of realized that playing games properly on a handheld feels so much better than playing them on a TV.
[01:00:09] Like infinitely better, especially like Game Boy Advance games.
[01:00:15] Because it like they have like a tiny sound to them because of the limitations of like the speakers and stuff and like the resolution of the audio is actually like down sampled so that it could actually like properly be on the Game Boy Advance.
[01:00:32] And when you hear it out of a TV, it sounds OK, I guess.
[01:00:36] But it's like still kind of like tinny and sharp or like hollow even.
[01:00:40] But like hearing it out of those little tiny speakers, man, that's the way.
[01:00:47] It just I don't know.
[01:00:48] Just sounds right.
[01:00:50] It is the way.
[01:00:51] God damn it, Greg.
[01:00:52] Did we cut you off again?
[01:00:54] That's OK.
[01:00:55] Don't worry about it.
[01:00:56] Talk about Manor Lords like for 20 more minutes and then we're good.
[01:01:00] I got nothing more to say on Manor Lords.
[01:01:04] Do you have anything else?
[01:01:05] Something like the F1 game, still a solid game.
[01:01:10] Nothing else really.
[01:01:14] Time's been.
[01:01:16] You think you'd think you'd check out that another Krabs treasure?
[01:01:21] Probably not.
[01:01:23] No.
[01:01:26] Beth, would you try it?
[01:01:29] I'm either asking when you know the answer.
[01:01:32] I know I can't even I can't even convince you to play it.
[01:01:35] Even if I was like, hey, you should play Kingdom Hearts 2 again.
[01:01:40] Like real quick.
[01:01:41] So I discovered something that you didn't know about.
[01:01:44] You'd be like, no, I don't do that.
[01:01:46] I've been wanting to replay the Kingdom Hearts games for two years now and haven't been able to get myself around to doing it.
[01:01:54] So I bet you a damn if I was like, man, you should play more of that.
[01:01:58] Reso gun.
[01:01:59] After I said it like, so I'm going to do it.
[01:02:01] The.
[01:02:02] The urge to play something after someone has told me to play it a bunch.
[01:02:06] It does sort of kill it for me, but not that I will never be like, oh, I hate it now.
[01:02:12] That's not it.
[01:02:13] I don't hate it.
[01:02:14] I'll just be like.
[01:02:16] Every time I think about it, I'll just be like, I don't want to play.
[01:02:20] Well, good news.
[01:02:21] There's a game on Game Pass that's coming out soon.
[01:02:23] You can you can you can pre purchase it right now or pre install or whatever the hell.
[01:02:29] Little Kitty Big City.
[01:02:31] Now, this was if there's ever a Beth game, this is the one I don't want to play that.
[01:02:38] Not because he talks about it.
[01:02:39] I know that's coming out.
[01:02:40] I seen it.
[01:02:42] I know that because not because I'm not going to play it.
[01:02:45] I know that.
[01:02:46] I know that.
[01:02:47] I know that.
[01:02:48] I know that.
[01:02:49] I know that.
[01:02:50] I know that.
[01:02:51] I know that.
[01:02:52] Because now that I've mentioned it is off the list.
[01:02:55] I wonder how many more of these games I can do this to you.
[01:02:58] Well, no, the Little Kitty Big City was another one that I saw like played and sampled like last summer.
[01:03:07] And I enjoyed what I saw, but I also just don't like the same thing with another Krabs treasure.
[01:03:15] I feel like there's something about indie games that don't have a strong stylized thing and I don't like because I don't like the way another Krabs treasure looks.
[01:03:30] And I feel like it's like I look at it.
[01:03:32] I'm like, wow, this is so it feels like so low budget and it's like not fair to people who are making it and whatever.
[01:03:38] That's totally, totally true.
[01:03:40] But I'm and I know it's indie, so it literally is low budget.
[01:03:43] But it's like you didn't even like there are low budget games that have like I'm like Undertale looks better because it has like such a strong sense of like style to it.
[01:03:54] But I see that stuff about like I feel that way about like certain games that are like.
[01:04:00] Like.
[01:04:02] Bigger budgets or whatever.
[01:04:04] I'm like, oh God, you should just try.
[01:04:06] Like if you just like made some effort to make your menus look cool or whatever, I just like can you do anything?
[01:04:13] Is there how come you're a studio full of like creatives and yet none of you know how to make a menu look cool.
[01:04:23] I think Kingdom Hearts menus suck.
[01:04:25] Why the fuck are they so boring?
[01:04:27] I just don't.
[01:04:29] It's annoying.
[01:04:30] That's you.
[01:04:31] You know what?
[01:04:32] That's my that's I could go.
[01:04:34] I hate how little effort I feel like is put into menus in a lot of games.
[01:04:41] Like I just don't like it.
[01:04:43] You could definitely do something.
[01:04:45] The best menus I think I've ever seen in a game still to this day is persona fives.
[01:04:51] Mm hmm.
[01:04:52] A thousand percent.
[01:04:53] That's how you do it.
[01:04:54] Persona for the remake persona three also is great menu.
[01:04:58] Yes, I just think that like you can do.
[01:05:01] Another fucking game that I want to play.
[01:05:04] Well my my game that I'm looking forward to the one that I would pick is metaphor me.
[01:05:09] Fantasia.
[01:05:10] That'd be the one game if I had to pick one this year.
[01:05:12] Oh yes.
[01:05:13] Yep.
[01:05:14] Right.
[01:05:15] That's that that old thing.
[01:05:17] Kind of forgot about that.
[01:05:19] And I just I just want I think menus can be do.
[01:05:25] It's like menus are something that I feel like it seems so simple that you can just put like a little bit of extra effort into to make the whole game feel more like I don't know like elevated like.
[01:05:39] You know what I find is hilarious right now on the game pass storefront.
[01:05:44] You know they have like what's happening with the top things on the very top like May the fourth celebrating Star Wars.
[01:05:50] Obviously.
[01:05:51] Obviously.
[01:05:52] Then there's you know Senua Saga Hellblade 2 and there's a thing about XO Primal and then.
[01:05:58] And the last thing here is Hi-Fi Rush is up on that top thing and it's kind of like oh really.
[01:06:05] Oh you really want people to play that game huh.
[01:06:08] Yeah too bad you couldn't keep the fucking studio open.
[01:06:12] What would the studio be Shinji Mikami and Hideki Kami left.
[01:06:16] No he left.
[01:06:17] I'm saying they both left.
[01:06:19] They both left.
[01:06:21] Yeah.
[01:06:22] Yeah.
[01:06:23] Still maybe I'm not saying it sucks but like they both left.
[01:06:27] Yeah the studio though it's like he he still worked with those people like there and they used to say they didn't have something really amazing to make as well.
[01:06:37] I'm not saying that they didn't I'm just saying that it's there's no there's no leader at that studio anymore.
[01:06:45] His prodigy was there.
[01:06:48] Did she know his second prodigy was there.
[01:06:51] The second one.
[01:06:53] Second one.
[01:06:54] RIP to Tango Gameworks god damn it.
[01:07:00] The other one bites the dust.
[01:07:05] I really okay that I had this like a thought of how.
[01:07:10] It was like a couple days ago or last week I don't know that Sony did the thing where with Helldivers 2 it was like oh now you have to if you're playing on PC.
[01:07:20] That was hilarious.
[01:07:21] You're gonna have to sync up you're gonna have to have a PSN profile regardless and everyone was like oh this fucking sucks I lost trust like Sony this is bad whatever and then Sony like today or yesterday whatever walked it back and was like never mind.
[01:07:38] We were listening to what you're saying and that's not going to be the case anymore.
[01:07:46] And then it was like people are like oh god Sony we don't trust Sony and then Xbox was like yeah hold my beer.
[01:07:55] Yeah.
[01:07:56] Do how do you break consumer trust in a second you know.
[01:08:01] Yeah.
[01:08:02] Me it's funny like earnings six oh like past your what your projected earnings were by 23% and then a layup and then shut shut down for studios.
[01:08:14] It's like oh yeah it's a dick move but yeah I don't know.
[01:08:21] I just it's funny because like you know you I actually can't believe that the fanboy like circle jerk is still a thing.
[01:08:31] Like I sometimes it blows my mind that there's people that are just like Sony is the only one and fuck all you Xbox haters that had on Saturday and it's like what the way why are you go why are we fighting what's going on and then like you got Xbox guys being like fuck Sony fucking last of us stupid.
[01:08:50] Fucking game is like what's going on here.
[01:08:53] Like why are we doing this still.
[01:08:55] Why are you still simping for corporations who don't care about us.
[01:08:58] Exactly.
[01:08:59] Yeah.
[01:09:00] It's because people need to protect their purchase.
[01:09:04] I want to validate that what they spent money on was the right one.
[01:09:08] Yeah I think there's like a mixture of like wanting like that that I just wanted to justify something you've invested in.
[01:09:16] Also then there's just like the I've invested so much in this already that like I need this to be the quote unquote correct choice.
[01:09:24] And on top of that I really want to add that I think a lot of people who get into these like quote unquote console wars I'm not saying that there isn't adults involved but like there is like like a lot of people are you talk to them or you're like what the fuck why do you care and it's like I'm then they're either like I'm 16 years old or I'm 16 years old.
[01:09:46] And like oh you're a child. Okay that makes a lot more sense.
[01:09:49] You wrapped up your personal identity in this corporation because you're pretty young and you're like looking you think that that makes you have a personality like that's okay.
[01:10:02] You'll get all out of it but there are adults who are still like that.
[01:10:06] It just is like I think a lot of times it tends to be something that like younger people do.
[01:10:13] And it just happens to me there's always you know always new younger people when the older when the older when the previous younger people grow up and get out of it.
[01:10:23] There's no younger people to replace them and be those those being those camps or whatever right.
[01:10:31] That makes sense.
[01:10:34] It's just wild that it's still a thing that happens to me.
[01:10:39] It's crazy.
[01:10:41] Crazy crazy. I know especially when we all know that PlayStation is just better like why are we talking. Oh boy.
[01:10:52] We won't we won't get into that.
[01:10:55] Well I am the farthest thing from a Nintendo fan but I will tell you that I just read that the profits or the money they've made on Switch I remember is has surpassed all the money they made from like the early 90s to like 2013 or something like that.
[01:11:17] What they're doing okay you know.
[01:11:22] Yeah.
[01:11:23] Meanwhile one person is like so I'm here I am I'm going to play Pokemon I'm emulating on all my computer and then they're just like sending SWAT teams through their fucking windows and shit.
[01:11:33] There's no such thing as a good corporation like there are individuals that make you know make things that you love and there are individuals who maybe make good choices that you can support but like a corporation as a whole.
[01:11:47] They're not it does not care about you.
[01:11:51] Yeah they don't they don't have your best interest in mind.
[01:11:53] No I actually see something funny the other day about how Nintendo started going after Gary's mod having Nintendo stuff in Gary's mod and then people were like said that they said they made this like insane connection but I laughed at it anyways about how Nintendo went after the
[01:12:16] The Garry's Mod stuff because now all the stuff that's in Gary's Mod that was Mario related is like now canon because if Nintendo's going after it then it's like you can't it's this is canon like it was yeah it was it was ridiculous but god damn it.
[01:12:32] You gotta settle down a little bit just just a little bit like you know you don't gotta like stop going after like you know people that are you know doing doing bad shit to your to your games and stuff but like man just if someone wants to emulate fucking Super Mario Brothers like let them do it for god's sakes.
[01:12:54] Just let them do it.
[01:12:56] Yeah so like something okay I'm trying to very quickly look up some stuff but so in getting into getting more into Pokemon like the competitive side of it and like watching these things.
[01:13:15] Are they having to say something about this?
[01:13:18] Well there's this like software like it's like an open source software whatever that's called Pokemon Showdown and you can team build in it you can battle Pokemon you can like do all of the customization for your teams and it's kind of like a team builder but you can do like battles against other people who are doing team building and it is just Pokemon.
[01:13:47] Like it is that is kind of what is what it is and it kind of blew my mind that it existed like that this is something that Pokemon has never or that Nintendo has never come after.
[01:14:02] I think to be fair it's one of those things that if they want it like is something that competitive like people really really depend on and if they took that away there would be less people who get into competitive Pokemon which means less people are paying the Pokemon company to show up to these tournaments and whatever.
[01:14:22] So it like really is in their best interest to not go after Pokemon Showdown.
[01:14:27] I guess but it's like because of how you know precious they are with their properties and how even going I just feels like so wild to me that Showdown is just able to like exist and be just Pokemon.
[01:14:44] And yet they'll go after like yeah like Gary's Mod or even make even make comments about Pal World and it's like there's literally a website that is just your Pokemon models playing Pokemon with all of the abilities and all of the functions that are the competitive aspect of a Pokemon game.
[01:15:08] I'll see them going after any of that Pokemon rule 34.
[01:15:11] Yeah.
[01:15:12] So I just I didn't need to say I did not need to see Vaporeon like that.
[01:15:18] No.
[01:15:19] Do you know what sucks?
[01:15:20] Vaporeon has been my favorite Eeveelution since I was a child because I loved mermaids as a kid.
[01:15:26] I was a that was that was like when I was a little girl I was like I want to be a mermaid.
[01:15:31] They say never mind.
[01:15:32] And I loved Vaporeon.
[01:15:33] I always loved Vaporeon and then within I would say the last five years I've learned the Vaporeon lore and I'm just like oh my god.
[01:15:42] Yeah.
[01:15:43] Now when I'm like oh my shoes people are who's your favorite Eeveelution and I'm like unfortunately it's not the hentai one but it still is.
[01:15:51] I just not because of the hentai.
[01:15:52] Well you know what they say never meet your heroes and especially never meet them if they're naked or made into rule 34.
[01:15:59] And with that I think that'll do it for the show today.
[01:16:02] What do you guys think?
[01:16:03] End on a note.
[01:16:04] I just want to thank you all for being here.
[01:16:06] I'm going to leave you with a little bit of a short answer.
[01:16:08] Thank you so much.
[01:16:09] Thank you so much.
[01:16:10] Thanks for having me.
[01:16:11] Thanks for having me.
[01:16:12] Thanks for having me.
[01:16:13] Thanks for having me.
[01:16:14] Thanks for having me.
[01:16:15] I think that'll do it for the show today.
[01:16:18] What do you guys think?
[01:16:19] End on a high hentai note.
[01:16:22] That's how we should end every episode on a high hentai note.
[01:16:28] Your favorite thing to do while eating cheese.
[01:16:31] No, no, no.
[01:16:32] Get high and watch hentai.
[01:16:34] I want a shirt that says that now.
[01:16:38] Get high, watch hentai.
[01:16:41] I mean no that's stupid.
[01:16:43] I'm never going to wear that shirt.
[01:16:44] Anyways, thanks for listening folks.
