[00:00:00] I can't fucking breathe dude.

[00:00:06] This is what it's all about dude.

[00:00:09] Alright, let's...

[00:00:12] Fuck off I have to... I have to host this one! Fuck off!

[00:00:27] Enough!

[00:00:28] Hey I'm Jerry.

[00:00:29] Hey I'm Aaron.

[00:00:30] And this is Retro Rehab.

[00:00:48] Welcome back to Retro Rehab, the greatest collaboration of all time.

[00:00:53] Today we're gonna talk about throwing some Phoenix Downs on some franchises that are either dead or dead and gone, or just they need a revive.

[00:01:05] You know?

[00:01:06] Like Pitbull.

[00:01:07] Like Pitbull. Is he dead? Hey can we get a quick check is Pitbull still alive?

[00:01:14] Pitbull... I typed it really stupidly. I typed Pitbull is he alive?

[00:01:19] Pitbull is he alive?

[00:01:25] So it's full name by MarbleChristian Perez.

[00:01:28] Yeah he's still alive dude. He's 5'9". What a fucking shorty dude.

[00:01:34] That's 2 for 2 if you're counting. Last week was Ludacris but check to make sure Ludacris was still alive.

[00:01:39] Our boy Ludacris is still alive and we got Mr. Worldwide Mission Aware Aware.

[00:01:43] So we're doing pretty good.

[00:01:47] But before we get in to throw on some Phoenix Downs at some franchises and talking about games that we feel like should get revivals,

[00:01:55] let's talk about what's going on in the world of Retro for a quick second because there's a couple things.

[00:02:01] A couple little tidbits of news in the world of Retro.

[00:02:05] If you are up to date on the company Analog, they announced that they were doing a restock on their Analog pockets.

[00:02:14] And they're gone. They're gone. It lasted I think a day and a half and they're goodbye.

[00:02:23] I was lucky enough to get myself an Analog pocket.

[00:02:29] I am very excited to get it.

[00:02:33] But there's some stuff about Analog that I don't know.

[00:02:40] Look, the hardware itself is fantastic.

[00:02:46] They did release their own cores because you don't have to have the physical hardware.

[00:02:54] You don't got it. It's like it's kind of like the Mr. Like it has its own cores and stuff that I think it supports up to an Aaron.

[00:03:01] You'll be happy to know this. It supports up to TurboGrafx CD.

[00:03:06] The Analog pocket?

[00:03:09] That's fucking sweet dude.

[00:03:12] It sure does.

[00:03:14] Not easily though. Like you gotta kind of figure that shit out yourself.

[00:03:18] Analog made their own cores and never updated them.

[00:03:22] Like for two years, they still haven't been updated as far as I know.

[00:03:25] What the fuck?

[00:03:26] So the community took to it and they were like, fuck it. We're going to make our own cores.

[00:03:30] And I think it was only a couple of months ago that they actually released like scanline filters and different like filters and stuff because the filters wouldn't work with the Analog cores.

[00:03:42] And there's still some things like some kinks getting worked out with some of these like the community cores.

[00:03:49] Because essentially some of them don't support save states.

[00:03:52] And if you don't know, the way that Analog...

[00:03:55] Well, I'm okay with not having save states so much.

[00:03:59] But the Analog pocket uses save states so it can sleep.

[00:04:09] Oh shit.

[00:04:11] When you put it to sleep, that's what it does.

[00:04:13] It does a...

[00:04:14] Because like obviously if you turn off a Game Boy, it turns off.

[00:04:18] Like there's no sleep on a Game Boy, right?

[00:04:20] Yeah.

[00:04:21] So it uses save states to allow the sleep bone.

[00:04:23] So I guess the Game Boy color or the Game Boy...

[00:04:26] Yeah, the Game Boy color one. Game Boy and Game Boy color.

[00:04:30] The developer said that he is working on the save states.

[00:04:35] So it should be soon.

[00:04:37] But it's crazy to think that like a year ago, people that had these pockets just had to deal with it.

[00:04:42] Like nope.

[00:04:45] Too bad.

[00:04:46] Just used the shitty Analog cores but now there's better ones out there.

[00:04:51] But I'm really excited.

[00:04:52] It should be...

[00:04:53] At the time this recording is my oddly enough.

[00:04:56] I ordered my dock the day after I ordered the pocket because I got like FOMO.

[00:05:00] Like a motherfucker.

[00:05:01] I was like...

[00:05:02] Because the other thing is I looked up like...

[00:05:05] What's an alternative to the Analog dock?

[00:05:09] And I quickly found all the responses were nope.

[00:05:15] Because they have like their own proprietary thing.

[00:05:17] Like you can't just like use a USB to HDMI on the Analog pocket.

[00:05:21] It does not work.

[00:05:22] It has to be that dock.

[00:05:25] So it's...

[00:05:28] Look, it's a fantastic piece of hardware.

[00:05:31] But the company itself is just...

[00:05:33] I don't know.

[00:05:34] It's like the apple of retro stuff.

[00:05:39] And that's coming from somebody who I do like myself some Apple stuff.

[00:05:43] But like all the proprietary shit.

[00:05:46] It just...

[00:05:47] There's no way at all to put custom firmware on an Analog pocket.

[00:05:53] Like ARCOS or anything like that.

[00:05:55] It just...

[00:05:56] It has to be what they put in it.

[00:05:58] As far as I know, yeah, it's just like...

[00:06:01] It's not so much the OS.

[00:06:02] Like the OS is fine.

[00:06:03] It's just the cores themselves are the things that are the more desired thing.

[00:06:11] That's crazy.

[00:06:13] Yeah.

[00:06:14] I really wish I would have bought one of these when the other transparent ones were on sale.

[00:06:20] Dude, yeah.

[00:06:22] Or the dark one?

[00:06:24] Oh man.

[00:06:26] They even went as far as to replicate the same dye as the color Game Boy colors.

[00:06:34] Like all those colors that they did for a limited time for the pockets.

[00:06:38] Like they were color matched to the old school Game Boys.

[00:06:43] It was crazy.

[00:06:45] It's crazy what they did.

[00:06:46] Really fucking cool.

[00:06:47] Again, fantastic product.

[00:06:49] The hardware itself is just amazing.

[00:06:53] It's not a replacement for the Mr.

[00:06:55] But like if you were to say like,

[00:06:58] I don't really want to do Mr.

[00:06:59] Yet or something and you were more of like a handheld person,

[00:07:02] I would say like 100%.

[00:07:04] Like this is the way to go.

[00:07:05] Because again, this is FPGA.

[00:07:07] As I mentioned before, FPGA is not emulating games.

[00:07:12] It's emulating consoles.

[00:07:13] Yeah.

[00:07:14] It's accuracy at its highest.

[00:07:18] Like it's still, I guess, it is a form of emulation, I guess,

[00:07:23] but like not really at the same time.

[00:07:26] And obviously at a higher level because like instead of how the fuck to explain it.

[00:07:32] Yeah.

[00:07:33] Well, actually technically speaking, it's low level.

[00:07:36] High level emulation is like, I think,

[00:07:39] I hope I'm not fucking that up.

[00:07:41] I think high level emulation is like less accurate,

[00:07:45] but low level is like much, much more accurate.

[00:07:49] So that's why like,

[00:07:50] That makes sense.

[00:07:53] I know that the N64 core on RetroArch has some options to do like to use different plugins

[00:08:00] and one of those plugins is the parallel and parallel uses low level because it's LLE.

[00:08:08] So that's a thing.

[00:08:10] That's a level emulation.

[00:08:12] It's a thing dude.

[00:08:15] Yeah.

[00:08:16] If the analog poggots go back up and there's another resupply,

[00:08:21] I highly encourage Aaron,

[00:08:24] Aaron, especially you to get one.

[00:08:27] I want that fucking transparent,

[00:08:29] the green one,

[00:08:31] but I want to be less of a bitch.

[00:08:33] You'll never get,

[00:08:34] They were a limited time only and I don't know if they're doing those again.

[00:08:39] You can find them on Marketplace though.

[00:08:41] There's like even up here in my city,

[00:08:43] like I've seen them,

[00:08:44] but you're going to pay.

[00:08:46] You're going to pay.

[00:08:48] I'm going to look it up dude.

[00:08:50] Oh, this is going to hurt.

[00:08:51] You're going to be upset.

[00:08:53] Oh, this is going to hurt bro.

[00:08:55] You're going to be upset.

[00:08:56] I'm going to guess

[00:08:59] 450 right?

[00:09:01] Actually no 350.

[00:09:03] But that's 350 US.

[00:09:06] Oh, yeah.

[00:09:08] To me that's like,

[00:09:12] that's expensive.

[00:09:14] I paid.

[00:09:16] I think it was,

[00:09:17] I think the pockets are only 221 US

[00:09:21] or 229 or something.

[00:09:23] Well, I'm pissed.

[00:09:27] Yeah.

[00:09:28] I mean you can,

[00:09:29] you can get one.

[00:09:30] There's worse things you could spend your money on.

[00:09:33] Like a pit bull CD.

[00:09:36] Yeah.

[00:09:37] Yeah.

[00:09:38] Dull Pepsi.

[00:09:39] Speaking of emulation.

[00:09:41] Did you see that Apple opened its floodgates?

[00:09:44] Did you see this?

[00:09:46] I saw it like the first one they allowed with some NES emulator,

[00:09:50] which is when I see the article is like,

[00:09:52] get the fuck out of here.

[00:09:54] Are you serious?

[00:09:56] Apple is allowing emulators on the App Store now after all these years.

[00:10:01] Why are they suddenly doing it now just because of the demand?

[00:10:05] Maybe somebody at Apple was like,

[00:10:07] you don't fuck with you zoo.

[00:10:09] You don't fuck with you zoo.

[00:10:15] We're putting them all up.

[00:10:19] You don't fuck with you zoo.

[00:10:22] Alright.

[00:10:23] You zoo.

[00:10:24] And sit down there dude.

[00:10:28] Yeah.

[00:10:29] It's it's crazy.

[00:10:31] I can't wait to see what the biggest thing would be to see

[00:10:35] RetroArch get added to the App Store.

[00:10:38] That would be some shit.

[00:10:40] Yeah.

[00:10:41] Because like as far as emulation goes like,

[00:10:43] RetroArch is like the thing I feel like there's there's

[00:10:48] emulators that are more accurate and other things like

[00:10:51] outside of RetroArch,

[00:10:53] but even a lot of those have been implemented as cores

[00:10:56] into RetroArch at this point.

[00:10:59] And yeah, if RetroArch gets added to the App Store,

[00:11:03] like that's a game changer.

[00:11:05] Give me one of those backbones,

[00:11:07] a bottle of lube and 15 minutes for RetroArch

[00:11:10] and we're fucking off dude.

[00:11:15] Oh fuck buddy.

[00:11:17] Oh fuck bud.

[00:11:23] Oh god.

[00:11:24] I can't top that but yeah, they really,

[00:11:26] really, I'm really surprised it took Apple this long to

[00:11:30] allow that shit on there because like,

[00:11:32] what's the worst that could fucking happen?

[00:11:34] I mean, I doubt it.

[00:11:35] I don't know.

[00:11:36] I don't know anything about Apple man,

[00:11:37] but that's good.

[00:11:38] That's cool.

[00:11:39] Yep.

[00:11:40] Yeah.

[00:11:41] And then finally to top up the news,

[00:11:44] they usually go digging through to see what new

[00:11:47] translations and stuff we have in the Retro community,

[00:11:50] whether it's through ROM hacking.net.

[00:11:52] CD romance is great because they upload like the

[00:11:56] game that's already like pre-patched and stuff.

[00:12:00] There was one that caught my eye,

[00:12:02] that's been recently translated.

[00:12:04] It's a PS1 RPG called Linda Cubed Again

[00:12:10] and it's a port of Linda Cubed for

[00:12:14] I think the PC engine,

[00:12:16] which was technically the TurboGrafx.

[00:12:20] It was ported to PS1.

[00:12:22] It was then also ported to Sega Saturn,

[00:12:25] but the only English version that we have as far as I know

[00:12:28] is the PS1 translation that just came out.

[00:12:31] And it's like,

[00:12:33] I don't know if you're looking at these screenshots.

[00:12:35] I added to the notes here.

[00:12:36] They look like fucking cool.

[00:12:38] It is interesting.

[00:12:40] So what people are like when I was digging into it

[00:12:43] to try to find out like,

[00:12:45] because here's the weird thing.

[00:12:48] When it comes to finding little gems like this,

[00:12:51] I don't want to see any videos of it for some reason.

[00:12:54] I'd rather just see a screenshot.

[00:12:56] I guess it's kind of like

[00:12:58] harkening back to the good old days

[00:13:00] of seeing something in a magazine

[00:13:02] and be like, oh, I can't wait to try this out.

[00:13:04] So I'd rather not look at videos of stuff.

[00:13:07] I'd rather experience the game

[00:13:11] by a few screenshots.

[00:13:13] Because the screenshots that I grabbed

[00:13:15] and threw into this, I was instantly like,

[00:13:17] what the hell is this game?

[00:13:19] And people said that it's

[00:13:21] pretty much fantasy star

[00:13:23] meets Shimigami Tensei.

[00:13:25] That's fucking tight.

[00:13:27] Yeah.

[00:13:29] It takes place in Neo Kenya.

[00:13:33] What the fuck?

[00:13:35] Yes.

[00:13:36] And there's like three scenarios

[00:13:38] and like each one is like a different timeline.

[00:13:40] So like scenario ABC,

[00:13:42] but by the time you get to see apparently

[00:13:44] like they're making fun of scenario

[00:13:46] A and B and being like, that wasn't shit.

[00:13:48] That wasn't nothing.

[00:13:50] You wait till you see all this stuff

[00:13:52] and like they're making like

[00:13:54] inside jokes about

[00:13:56] what happened in this game and stuff.

[00:13:58] And like, yeah, it's just supposed to be like

[00:14:00] batshit crazy.

[00:14:02] And I feel like you and I,

[00:14:04] for people that really like weird games

[00:14:06] like Earthbound,

[00:14:08] I feel like we should both try this thing out.

[00:14:10] This looks really, really funny

[00:14:12] and rad. Yeah, there's that one

[00:14:14] screenshot where it looks

[00:14:16] like a man

[00:14:18] that resembles Hitler.

[00:14:20] He's like

[00:14:22] Mecca Hitler.

[00:14:24] Yeah, Mecca Hitler. It runs me

[00:14:26] from like the movie Akira.

[00:14:28] Sorry, Akira.

[00:14:30] I put the Japanese twang on it.

[00:14:32] Not something you'd see in that, but like

[00:14:34] Hitler if he was

[00:14:36] Akira, I guess.

[00:14:38] And there's a whale.

[00:14:40] There's a big fucking whale island.

[00:14:42] They're fighting. What the shit?

[00:14:44] Dude, it looks

[00:14:46] crazy and like this is the thing about

[00:14:48] retro and this is like

[00:14:50] all jokes aside, this is why I feel like

[00:14:52] we needed to do this podcast because

[00:14:54] I cannot believe

[00:14:56] after all these years, there's still

[00:14:58] shit.

[00:15:00] Sorry, keep going.

[00:15:02] What did you see?

[00:15:04] Oh man, hang on.

[00:15:06] I can see the reflection in your glasses kind of.

[00:15:08] Hold on, bro.

[00:15:12] Also in the chat.

[00:15:16] No, you know what?

[00:15:18] We'll take this link too.

[00:15:20] Where's the chat?

[00:15:22] There's a bunch of screenshots

[00:15:24] on that bastard.

[00:15:26] Nice.

[00:15:28] But yeah, what I was going to say was

[00:15:30] that even after like all these years

[00:15:32] of like playing retro

[00:15:34] shit and playing ROMs and emulators, I cannot

[00:15:36] believe that there's just like

[00:15:38] it feels like something every month that I'm like,

[00:15:40] I've never heard of this, never seen it before.

[00:15:42] Where's this bed?

[00:15:44] And like stuff just pops up

[00:15:46] like it's fucking

[00:15:48] wild.

[00:15:50] Like I can't believe it sometimes.

[00:15:52] But yeah,

[00:15:54] Linda cubed again. Go check it out.

[00:15:56] New translation out.

[00:15:58] With that

[00:16:00] I have

[00:16:02] this looks really, really cool.

[00:16:04] Yep, do it.

[00:16:06] I'm gonna. So,

[00:16:08] topic of the day.

[00:16:10] Game franchises

[00:16:12] that need revivals.

[00:16:14] Aaron,

[00:16:16] why don't you kick us off

[00:16:18] with the first thing that you feel like

[00:16:20] you need to resurrect?

[00:16:22] First, I'm going to download this game

[00:16:26] if I can find a goddamn link for it.

[00:16:28] The first series

[00:16:30] I head down to bring back from the dead

[00:16:32] custom Robo

[00:16:34] because motherfucker

[00:16:36] there were four games in total

[00:16:38] the America only saw two

[00:16:40] because

[00:16:42] Nintendo hates us but

[00:16:46] the series is

[00:16:48] the name kind of describes it all

[00:16:50] it's people fighting

[00:16:52] with robots that you can customize

[00:16:54] with like just a million different fucking parts

[00:16:56] like there's

[00:16:58] legs that affect your speed and like how

[00:17:00] you dodge and shit like that how many jumps

[00:17:02] you get there's different guns

[00:17:04] that affect like your fire pattern they can

[00:17:06] get like a three way spread

[00:17:08] you can get a dragon one that shoots little like

[00:17:10] dragon flame balls out

[00:17:12] shoot like a sword that

[00:17:14] flies into the air

[00:17:16] stays there for a little bit and then just

[00:17:18] shoots down at an enemy

[00:17:20] there's all sorts of different guns there's bombs

[00:17:22] there's what's called a pod where it shoots out like a little

[00:17:24] like a deployable

[00:17:26] explosive thing I guess

[00:17:28] there's just all sorts of different parts

[00:17:30] and

[00:17:32] the last one we got was

[00:17:34] I think it was custom Robo arena

[00:17:36] on DS because there was two for the Nintendo 6

[00:17:38] oh there was more than one?

[00:17:40] yeah there was four there was um

[00:17:42] oh shit I didn't know that

[00:17:44] two on N64 that only came out in Japan

[00:17:46] but the first game does have a complete

[00:17:48] fan translation

[00:17:50] the second one I don't think

[00:17:52] I think it's like partially done

[00:17:54] the one on the Gamecube is the one that I played the most

[00:17:56] and it's got a bitch

[00:17:58] in soundtrack

[00:18:00] and then one of the DS

[00:18:02] is still pretty good but the soundtrack isn't

[00:18:04] nearly as bitchy not quite as bitchy

[00:18:06] maybe like 3 tenths

[00:18:08] bitchy but uh

[00:18:10] yeah so I guess like

[00:18:12] yeah like what do you think

[00:18:14] would um

[00:18:16] what do you visualize

[00:18:18] like a modern custom Robo

[00:18:20] like revive looking like

[00:18:22] you know I'm glad you asked that Jerry

[00:18:24] I could see it

[00:18:26] give me

[00:18:28] I want to see like

[00:18:30] just launches the different game modes

[00:18:32] like 2v2, 3v3, 4v4

[00:18:34] maybe even like 12

[00:18:36] 12 person free for all I don't know whatever

[00:18:38] kind of royales and shit

[00:18:40] yeah basically because

[00:18:42] the gameplay is like when you're playing as the Robos

[00:18:44] anyway it's you're in this little arena

[00:18:46] um

[00:18:48] and there's little walls and shit

[00:18:50] that you can go behind for cover

[00:18:52] uh and it's kind of like at a

[00:18:54] like an isometric overhead view almost

[00:18:56] but

[00:18:58] you could do you could do along with that really

[00:19:00] like yeah

[00:19:02] but like multiple levels into an arena make

[00:19:04] like big awesome

[00:19:06] arenas they could

[00:19:08] add even more ways to customize

[00:19:10] your Robos

[00:19:12] I don't know if Nintendo could

[00:19:14] add me's into it I guess

[00:19:16] if they really fucking wanted to

[00:19:18] yeah they could

[00:19:20] it'd be awesome

[00:19:22] for today's online multiplayer fucking

[00:19:24] world but Nintendo is just

[00:19:26] I still need to throw that on

[00:19:28] a buddy of mine I think threw it on after you talking

[00:19:30] about it on I think it was episode one

[00:19:32] yeah it was episode one of this it was our

[00:19:34] random recommended game at the end

[00:19:36] yeah Mesh and Custom Robo and he threw it on

[00:19:38] he was like man seems pretty cool

[00:19:40] um so yeah

[00:19:42] I definitely want to I want to check that out

[00:19:44] at some point so yeah

[00:19:46] I can kind of get a better handle

[00:19:48] on because all that sounds really cool

[00:19:50] like I feel like that's the thing right

[00:19:52] like when you when you think about revivals

[00:19:54] like it's I feel like it's

[00:19:56] always one part fan service but it's also

[00:19:58] like another part like

[00:20:00] how can we make

[00:20:02] money like

[00:20:04] will this make us money and

[00:20:06] part of the reason why I wanted to do this

[00:20:08] this episode is because

[00:20:10] had this been a year ago

[00:20:12] and we did this episode I would have been screaming

[00:20:14] for Secret of Mana

[00:20:16] like man bring Secret of Mana back

[00:20:18] like what the hell is going on with this franchise

[00:20:20] like you just keep remaking these games

[00:20:22] and then Trials of Mana sold really

[00:20:24] well for their expectations

[00:20:26] and then finally we get

[00:20:28] Visions of Mana which by the way looks fucking

[00:20:30] dope I don't know if you can keep it up

[00:20:32] yeah that's pretty fucking good

[00:20:34] um so yeah

[00:20:36] like that was kind of the crux of

[00:20:38] I've been screaming about

[00:20:40] some of these franchises

[00:20:42] one of the franchises that I've been screaming about

[00:20:44] that I don't think we'll ever get

[00:20:46] if we do

[00:20:48] I'll be shocked

[00:20:50] but it is a crying shame

[00:20:52] that we have not had

[00:20:54] a proper Go-mon game

[00:20:56] since 2000

[00:20:58] and motherfucking 5

[00:21:00] holy shit

[00:21:02] 2005

[00:21:04] it was a DS game

[00:21:06] sorry

[00:21:08] technically the last Go-mon game

[00:21:10] was

[00:21:12] 2009

[00:21:14] and it was a fucking

[00:21:16] Pachinko

[00:21:18] damn dude fucking conan

[00:21:20] I was just gonna say

[00:21:22] take one fucking guess

[00:21:24] who owns the rights to Go-mon

[00:21:26] the only company

[00:21:28] that could take any of their

[00:21:30] wildly popular franchises and be like

[00:21:32] nah we're just gonna do Pachinko

[00:21:36] they probably make way more money off of Pachinko

[00:21:38] than they do any fucking Go-mon game

[00:21:40] I mean this is not a sad reality

[00:21:42] that's the sad reality

[00:21:44] yeah I don't really know

[00:21:46] what the sales are like for Go-mon

[00:21:48] but

[00:21:50] I don't know like reintroducing

[00:21:52] Go-mon to the mainstream

[00:21:54] like

[00:21:56] it would be amazing either way

[00:21:58] I think because

[00:22:00] even in the last 10 years

[00:22:02] there's been a massive resurgence

[00:22:04] of 2D platformers like Metroid Vanias

[00:22:06] and even like the HD

[00:22:08] retro stuff has been coming back

[00:22:10] like I feel like Shovel Knight

[00:22:12] started really pushing the envelope forward

[00:22:14] for like hey let's

[00:22:16] get like these really

[00:22:18] highly polished indie games

[00:22:20] that look like

[00:22:22] NES, SNES, games

[00:22:24] like let's get these back

[00:22:26] into the mainstream because

[00:22:28] it doesn't have to have

[00:22:30] like these triple A graphics

[00:22:32] to make a big difference

[00:22:34] I mean it probably goes back further

[00:22:36] than that even to like the Xbox Live arcade stuff

[00:22:38] like I remember

[00:22:40] Castle Crashers being like one of the best games ever

[00:22:42] I couldn't believe it

[00:22:44] and it was like

[00:22:46] it looked like a flash game

[00:22:48] or like Fez

[00:22:50] was like an SNES game pretty much

[00:22:52] yeah

[00:22:54] so yeah I feel like bringing

[00:22:56] Go-mon back now

[00:22:58] like we did get

[00:23:00] like this well I mean we didn't get it

[00:23:02] but Japan got it

[00:23:04] in one of their directs

[00:23:06] and people started picking up on there like

[00:23:08] hey did anybody catch the Japanese direct

[00:23:10] they showed this and it was

[00:23:12] it's literally a spiritual successor to Go-mon

[00:23:14] like it looks like Mystical Ninja 64

[00:23:16] but like newer

[00:23:18] and it's not Go-mon

[00:23:20] but it may as well be

[00:23:22] he has a chain pipe and shit

[00:23:24] or maybe he has like these two sticks

[00:23:26] he's got a fucking blunt

[00:23:30] but yeah

[00:23:32] it's basically like a spiritual successor to Go-mon

[00:23:36] I'd be curious to know

[00:23:38] what that game did in numbers

[00:23:40] in Japan because I feel like

[00:23:42] maybe Go-mon does

[00:23:44] no for sure does way better

[00:23:46] because we didn't get like

[00:23:48] I don't know like two thirds of the games

[00:23:50] that were ever released for Go-mon

[00:23:52] over here

[00:23:56] but yeah I would like to see

[00:23:58] like a 2D game but even like a

[00:24:00] 3D action adventure game

[00:24:02] like Mystical Ninja 64

[00:24:04] but with like modern mechanics

[00:24:06] and like a large

[00:24:10] but not too big like

[00:24:12] fully explorable world

[00:24:14] in Edo

[00:24:16] because like yeah like the game is

[00:24:18] the game is it's always based in Japan

[00:24:20] but it's like

[00:24:22] like Edo Japan

[00:24:24] and it would be cool

[00:24:26] to see like what a

[00:24:28] fully like open like

[00:24:30] again not like Breath of the Wild

[00:24:32] and Tears of the Kingdom

[00:24:34] massive but like just like an open

[00:24:36] world-ish type of Go-mon would be

[00:24:38] fantastic like I

[00:24:40] think it would be so good now

[00:24:42] enough about Go-mon

[00:24:44] what do you what else you got

[00:24:46] I took a little

[00:24:48] peeksy at some of your entries

[00:24:50] I know that you were saying

[00:24:52] that you were having a hard time

[00:24:54] figuring out like your last

[00:24:56] one

[00:24:58] which makes total sense

[00:25:00] but

[00:25:02] tell us

[00:25:04] and the listeners what you got wrote down

[00:25:06] here for your second pick

[00:25:08] well Jerry and listeners I'm

[00:25:10] uh

[00:25:12] Breath of Fire needs to fucking come back

[00:25:14] because holy shit Capcom

[00:25:16] brand that bitch

[00:25:18] into the ground after the

[00:25:20] after the fifth game

[00:25:22] well because

[00:25:24] there was the first two for SDS

[00:25:26] three and four on the PS1

[00:25:28] um

[00:25:30] five was on the PS2

[00:25:32] and that was very different it was

[00:25:34] five was more of like a rogue like

[00:25:36] um

[00:25:38] and there was this weird like a

[00:25:40] dragon infection counter

[00:25:42] thing to where like if you didn't get out

[00:25:44] the dungeon quick enough you'd fucking die

[00:25:46] is that Dragon Quarter? Yeah, yep

[00:25:48] yeah

[00:25:50] and then six

[00:25:52] there was six was a mobile game

[00:25:54] and then there was like a bunch after that

[00:25:56] that were just a bunch of fucking stinky

[00:25:58] fucking mobile games

[00:26:00] um

[00:26:02] but yeah I

[00:26:04] they could totally bring it back from the dead

[00:26:06] just retcon maybe except for six

[00:26:08] because that was actually like a numbered entry

[00:26:10] in the series

[00:26:12] they could retcon the rest of their little mobile

[00:26:14] snafus

[00:26:16] make Breath of Fire seven

[00:26:18] and do it like visions of mana

[00:26:20] elegant and extravagant everything's just

[00:26:22] colorful and gorgeous and like yeah

[00:26:24] it definitely that that game

[00:26:26] franchise definitely lends itself

[00:26:28] to to exactly what you're

[00:26:30] talking about because like even going back

[00:26:32] now and looking at the pixel art

[00:26:34] on the Super Nintendo ones and on the

[00:26:36] PS like the PS1 games

[00:26:38] that has to be some of the craziest

[00:26:40] pixel art I've ever seen like it's

[00:26:42] crazy

[00:26:44] it's wild like

[00:26:46] even for like Breath of Fire

[00:26:48] four because it's got that like almost

[00:26:50] hand drawn kind of style

[00:26:52] to it but yeah

[00:26:54] put it on modern consoles dude

[00:26:56] you don't have to worry about any like

[00:26:58] you don't have to worry about the constraints of like the SNES

[00:27:00] the PS1 you can make it fully

[00:27:02] fucking 3D if you

[00:27:04] wanted

[00:27:06] imagine the HD 2D thing

[00:27:08] like what they've done with like

[00:27:10] Octopath and stuff like imagine that game

[00:27:12] and that style sweet

[00:27:14] oh dude it would be so good

[00:27:16] they could have just super fucking

[00:27:18] insane dragon transformations

[00:27:20] they could make the

[00:27:22] the character sprites

[00:27:24] whether it's in battle or whatever

[00:27:26] even more detailed because like Breath of Fire

[00:27:28] has always had really cool like

[00:27:30] anthropomorphic animal

[00:27:32] tribes with like different members joining you

[00:27:34] like fuck Breath of Fire 2 had

[00:27:36] like a sentient plant man

[00:27:38] join your party there was like a horse

[00:27:40] man joining your party and like the first

[00:27:42] game

[00:27:44] I know what the first game a lot of people

[00:27:46] like one of the biggest complaints was that

[00:27:48] the random encounters

[00:27:50] were like obscene

[00:27:52] like just

[00:27:54] insane on like the maps

[00:27:56] and stuff but there's actually

[00:27:58] a ROM hack

[00:28:00] that's like a quality

[00:28:02] of life hack

[00:28:04] that reduces the amount

[00:28:06] of insanely

[00:28:08] generated

[00:28:10] random encounters

[00:28:12] and stuff and like some other

[00:28:14] things that they tweaked

[00:28:16] so if you are gonna go back

[00:28:18] and try a Breath of Fire

[00:28:20] like maybe seek out

[00:28:22] these ROM hacks

[00:28:24] cause man

[00:28:26] it's always been one of those

[00:28:28] it's like this and Legend of Dragoon

[00:28:30] are ones that I've

[00:28:32] always been like one of these

[00:28:34] days man I'm gonna play through these

[00:28:36] it's just one of those days

[00:28:38] it's just one of those days

[00:28:42] it's just one of those days

[00:28:46] yep

[00:28:48] yeah man

[00:28:50] yeah and the

[00:28:52] I think one and two

[00:28:54] were also remade for the

[00:28:56] Game Boy Advance and I think those also

[00:28:58] had those like small fixes

[00:29:00] applied to them but of course the music

[00:29:02] yeah the music isn't as good though

[00:29:04] which sucks

[00:29:06] and the graphics

[00:29:10] the graphics are like

[00:29:12] since it was on the

[00:29:14] GBA

[00:29:16] the graphics kind of like they did with

[00:29:18] Harmony of Dissonance on GBA

[00:29:20] they made the graphics really bright

[00:29:22] so it stood out on the dark screen

[00:29:24] when you were playing the GBA in the dark

[00:29:26] so the graphics kind of like washed

[00:29:28] out a little bit but

[00:29:30] yeah they have the random encounter fix

[00:29:32] so

[00:29:34] they're kind of worth playing

[00:29:36] but I mean yeah get the

[00:29:38] ROM hack

[00:29:40] yeah get the ROM hack

[00:29:42] hack that ROM baby

[00:29:44] hack them ROMs

[00:29:46] you know

[00:29:48] a lot of my retro game

[00:29:50] playing started with ROMs

[00:29:52] like

[00:29:54] going back to Vim's lair man

[00:29:56] that was my stomping grounds back in the day

[00:29:58] good ol Vim's lair

[00:30:00] good ol Vim

[00:30:02] got out to Vim

[00:30:04] so

[00:30:06] one of the games that I discovered on Vim's lair

[00:30:08] ages ago

[00:30:10] that I didn't know existed

[00:30:12] I never ever seen it at my blockbuster or nothing

[00:30:14] when I was a kid

[00:30:16] I didn't have any prior knowledge to it

[00:30:18] is Demons Crest

[00:30:20] have you ever played Demons Crest

[00:30:22] I've played a little bit

[00:30:24] that's your weekend

[00:30:26] that's your weekend rehab dude

[00:30:28] do it

[00:30:30] it is like it's not that long

[00:30:32] it's basically a mega man

[00:30:34] metroidvania

[00:30:36] that's cool as fuck

[00:30:38] and it's got like some

[00:30:40] dark souls ass looking

[00:30:42] like crazy art

[00:30:44] style

[00:30:46] it's weird that

[00:30:48] it is a spin off of

[00:30:50] ghouls and ghosts

[00:30:52] like the little red

[00:30:54] gargoyle guy that

[00:30:56] tries to kill you

[00:30:58] that's who you play as

[00:31:00] but then

[00:31:02] as you progress through the game

[00:31:04] every time you finish a level

[00:31:06] and beat a boss you get some sort of power up

[00:31:10] and you can transform into different

[00:31:12] demons and stuff

[00:31:14] that's fucking sweet

[00:31:16] that sounds really fucking sweet dude

[00:31:18] oh man it's fantastic

[00:31:20] like

[00:31:22] I highly encourage you to play this

[00:31:24] game on the weekend and let me know what you think

[00:31:26] I bet you any money you'll throw it on

[00:31:28] and you'll just beat it

[00:31:30] like you'll just play it through

[00:31:32] cause it's so good and there's like a world map

[00:31:34] in mode 7

[00:31:36] that you fly around on

[00:31:38] and you can go to shops and stuff

[00:31:40] and get upgrades

[00:31:42] it's fantastic

[00:31:44] so like

[00:31:46] I feel like

[00:31:48] I would like to see this come back

[00:31:50] keep that 2D aesthetic

[00:31:52] cause I mean there's so many

[00:31:54] Metroidvania

[00:31:56] Jesus Christ go on the steam store

[00:31:58] and look up Metroidvanias

[00:32:00] they come out once

[00:32:02] there's a dozen fucking a month

[00:32:04] coming out of Metroidvanias

[00:32:06] and I feel like

[00:32:08] probably

[00:32:10] they're not all good

[00:32:12] I'm a sucker for Metroidvania

[00:32:14] but they ain't shit most of the time

[00:32:18] and this is a Capcom game

[00:32:20] like come on

[00:32:22] I feel like they could

[00:32:24] really do some really cool things

[00:32:26] with Demons Crest

[00:32:28] cause I mean if

[00:32:30] like lord knows we're never gonna get another

[00:32:32] Mega Man for fuck's sakes

[00:32:34] so

[00:32:36] at least give us Demons Crest

[00:32:38] which is kinda like

[00:32:40] Demonic Mega Man

[00:32:42] it's a pretty tall order

[00:32:44] here's kinda one for ya

[00:32:46] so on the Game Boy

[00:32:48] they have a game kind of

[00:32:50] pre-dating Demons Crest a little bit

[00:32:52] Gargoyles Quest

[00:32:54] it's like it's got turn based battles

[00:32:56] which is cool

[00:32:58] wait it does?

[00:33:00] I didn't know that

[00:33:02] I knew there was Gargoyles

[00:33:04] maybe I should play this game

[00:33:08] make sure I'm doing that right though

[00:33:10] yep

[00:33:12] I'm looking at it right now

[00:33:14] yeah it's platforming

[00:33:16] Metroidvania kind of

[00:33:18] turn based battles

[00:33:20] it's pretty sick throw on the Game Boy

[00:33:22] color filter

[00:33:24] shit to it and then

[00:33:26] by the big by the boom

[00:33:28] you know what I'm gonna do

[00:33:30] I'm gonna try and shit out with my analog pocket

[00:33:32] there you go

[00:33:34] do you have a physical copy of that bad boy?

[00:33:36] uh yep

[00:33:38] I

[00:33:40] saved me

[00:33:42] right there in Nintendo

[00:33:44] they had

[00:33:46] the better game they were like

[00:33:48] they were like

[00:33:50] he said physical copy

[00:33:52] and backed off fucking immediately

[00:33:54] yep

[00:33:56] you backed the fuck off Nintendo

[00:34:00] and I'll take him on ROMs

[00:34:04] if Nintendo shows up on my house

[00:34:06] and they're like we're here

[00:34:08] we're here to get your

[00:34:10] they're getting a fucking

[00:34:12] PANCH

[00:34:14] Mr.

[00:34:16] Robert Nintendo himself comes up to you

[00:34:18] in the middle of Dark Alley

[00:34:20] hand over them ROMs

[00:34:22] bitch

[00:34:24] Mr. Nintendo there's only two misters in my life

[00:34:26] there's the Mr. FPGA and then there's the

[00:34:28] Mr.

[00:34:30] I

[00:34:32] can I have a Pepsi

[00:34:36] I have two Pepsis

[00:34:38] two Pepsis

[00:34:40] Dabba D Dabba Day

[00:34:42] oh man that's the greatest

[00:34:44] shit ever speaking of world wide

[00:34:46] we're the fuck is Power Stone 3

[00:34:48] man

[00:34:50] yeah give us Power Stone 3 cowards

[00:34:52] fuck I don't understand

[00:34:54] like Capcom was so

[00:34:56] gung ho about this

[00:34:58] fucking series when the Dreamcast

[00:35:00] was out because I mean

[00:35:02] it was

[00:35:04] it was arcade and Dreamcast

[00:35:06] yeah like arcade but

[00:35:08] home console only ever Dreamcast

[00:35:10] never ported nothing it's just

[00:35:12] it lived and died on Dreamcast

[00:35:14] well actually there's a

[00:35:16] Power Stone collection on PSP

[00:35:18] but like that's it

[00:35:20] is? yeah

[00:35:22] both games are on PSP

[00:35:24] what a weird thing to do

[00:35:26] I know why wouldn't you fucking bring it

[00:35:28] to like PS2

[00:35:30] or Gamecube

[00:35:32] yeah like something

[00:35:34] like

[00:35:36] you know what's fun it's crazy too

[00:35:38] recently finally

[00:35:40] like I mean I had heard of

[00:35:42] Power Stone for years and years and years

[00:35:44] and how good it is like whenever people

[00:35:46] talk about like oh I got a Dreamcast

[00:35:48] what games should I try to get

[00:35:50] people are like get Power Stone games

[00:35:52] like wanted to get them

[00:35:54] they're the best and like

[00:35:56] you know we get hung up sometimes

[00:35:58] about trying to find like hidden gems

[00:36:00] on consoles especially like

[00:36:02] retro consoles and stuff but I feel like

[00:36:04] sometimes it's easy to overlook

[00:36:06] that's just absolute bangers

[00:36:08] that are well

[00:36:10] known on these consoles

[00:36:12] that just you may have never played

[00:36:14] um and I just

[00:36:16] always skipped it no overlooked it because

[00:36:18] I was like yeah yeah yeah like that's the one that everybody knows

[00:36:20] I want to find some hidden gems though

[00:36:22] but when I finally did play

[00:36:24] Power Stone 2

[00:36:26] it was like

[00:36:28] I couldn't believe

[00:36:30] how good that game was

[00:36:32] I could not believe it

[00:36:34] so go ahead

[00:36:36] tell me why this needs a revival though

[00:36:38] like tell me what you

[00:36:40] what you visualize

[00:36:42] well shit man now that

[00:36:44] Smash Bros is basically

[00:36:46] like

[00:36:48] it's in the ground now

[00:36:50] like it's done Smash Bros is basically no more

[00:36:52] now that's done

[00:36:54] Power Stone 2

[00:36:56] or Power Stone 3 would be like the perfect

[00:36:58] fucking party game would be the perfect

[00:37:00] like game to even

[00:37:02] play online man Power Stone 3

[00:37:04] on modern consoles they could do

[00:37:06] way more with it than they did with Power Stone 1

[00:37:08] and 2 like they can have

[00:37:10] way more strapping at levels like way more

[00:37:12] players on the screen even even more

[00:37:14] fucking chaotic than it already was

[00:37:16] because in a game where you're

[00:37:18] on top of a fucking airplane

[00:37:20] that's like plummeting into the fucking ocean

[00:37:22] that there's like

[00:37:24] rocket launchers and fucking

[00:37:26] katanas and

[00:37:28] fucking uh like robot

[00:37:30] uh missile launching cars that you can jump into

[00:37:32] and shoot your buddies

[00:37:34] with and shit

[00:37:36] it's they can make it even more insane

[00:37:38] there's so much they could fucking do with it

[00:37:40] now but they just refuse

[00:37:42] to touch it for whatever and

[00:37:44] throw some crossover characters in there

[00:37:46] throw some street fighter in there

[00:37:48] yeah doesn't who

[00:37:50] is that a capcom game right

[00:37:52] yeah it's capcom it's all capcom

[00:37:54] yeah like Jesus Christ dude

[00:37:56] give us give us some crossover shit

[00:37:58] with that I mean it was it was really

[00:38:00] fun to see the crossover stuff

[00:38:02] in uh Canon spike

[00:38:04] if you're not familiar with Canon spike that's um

[00:38:06] it's like a top down

[00:38:08] arcadey

[00:38:10] shoot em up ish

[00:38:12] I guess like shoot them up

[00:38:14] and as soon as I found out that

[00:38:16] Mega Man was a secret character

[00:38:18] like if you just like hit left all

[00:38:20] the way over on the screen and go off screen

[00:38:22] to the character selection you pick Mega Man

[00:38:24] that he's the only one I picked

[00:38:26] ever

[00:38:28] like

[00:38:30] it was cammy first and then it was

[00:38:32] only ever Mega Man

[00:38:34] and they've also got Arthur from

[00:38:36] Ghouls n Ghosts, Ghosts n Goblins

[00:38:38] yeah like that's what I mean right

[00:38:40] like I think you're right I think like

[00:38:42] Capcom could

[00:38:44] easily

[00:38:46] have their own

[00:38:48] like I mean for Christ's sake dude

[00:38:50] Nickelodeon had their

[00:38:52] own fucking smash game

[00:38:54] for fuck sakes

[00:38:56] Nickelodeon

[00:38:58] Capcom's got some really fucking

[00:39:00] recognizable characters under their belt dude

[00:39:02] yeah Mega Man

[00:39:04] anybody from Street Fighter yeah Resident Evil

[00:39:06] Ace Attorney

[00:39:08] anything that this anything that's been in

[00:39:10] Marvel vs Capcom

[00:39:12] just slap it in there

[00:39:14] slam it in power stone throw a raptor

[00:39:16] in there

[00:39:18] throw a raptor los

[00:39:20] I said

[00:39:22] they have

[00:39:24] the Rathien and the Rathalos

[00:39:26] there's a bunch

[00:39:28] they have Devil May Cry also dude throw some

[00:39:30] Devil May Cry motherfuckers in there they've got a bunch

[00:39:32] they could do I know dude imagine

[00:39:34] a power stone level

[00:39:36] in like a Devil May Cry level

[00:39:38] or like a monster hunter level

[00:39:40] or

[00:39:42] if they really want to take advantage of all that hardware

[00:39:44] you start off in one level from one game

[00:39:46] and then it like

[00:39:48] explodes or some shit happens I don't know

[00:39:50] and then you're in a Mega Man level

[00:39:52] and then it's in Mega Man level and then

[00:39:54] it's just like you're in like a monster

[00:39:56] background shit like attacking you

[00:39:58] yeah dude

[00:40:00] you have the big bad guys from

[00:40:02] different Capcom games in the background

[00:40:04] like

[00:40:06] Sigma

[00:40:08] from fucking Mega Man X

[00:40:10] he's in the background he gantos

[00:40:12] from Resident Evil 4 just in the background

[00:40:14] fucking shit up chasing you

[00:40:16] you've got

[00:40:18] Miles Edgeworth

[00:40:20] from Ace Attorney he's just like

[00:40:22] guilty guilty guilty

[00:40:24] I don't know dude yeah

[00:40:26] you're just getting smack with guilty

[00:40:28] you're just getting fucking sued

[00:40:32] Mr Robot

[00:40:34] you can do so much with that goddamn shit

[00:40:36] I don't

[00:40:38] it's still like fucking hotcakes man easy money

[00:40:40] I know

[00:40:42] as soon as I seen that on your list I was like

[00:40:44] fuck man yeah

[00:40:46] I think that's one of the things on this

[00:40:48] on this list I feel like

[00:40:50] that's the one that I could actually

[00:40:52] see getting a resurgence

[00:40:54] if they you know what Capcom

[00:40:56] real quick just to

[00:40:58] just want to talk to you one on one for a second

[00:41:00] you can contact

[00:41:02] Aaron and I very easily

[00:41:04] we're on all your socials and stuff

[00:41:06] just contact us man like we'll help

[00:41:08] we'll help like we know

[00:41:10] how to make you money

[00:41:12] like we'll make you more money

[00:41:14] than what's that Ace Attorney guy's name

[00:41:16] what was his

[00:41:18] objection

[00:41:20] Miles Edgeworth

[00:41:22] we'll make you more money than Miles Edgeworth

[00:41:24] I'll tell you that

[00:41:26] we'll represent you in court

[00:41:28] it could be so fucking easy

[00:41:30] oh my god I don't know why

[00:41:32] what's the fucking

[00:41:34] Capcom, Capcom, Capsquat

[00:41:36] let me talk to you one on one also

[00:41:38] I know you just got to talk to you

[00:41:40] let me talk to you now too

[00:41:42] what the fuck is your problem

[00:41:46] I know like you know what

[00:41:48] I would just throw Powerstone 3

[00:41:50] just make it the third one

[00:41:52] you don't need to

[00:41:54] you don't need to like reimagine anything

[00:41:56] just give us what Powerstone 2

[00:41:58] was throw a 3 on the

[00:42:00] end and then put all of your

[00:42:02] fucking franchises in the game

[00:42:04] and I promise you Capcom

[00:42:06] Capcom listen to me are you listening

[00:42:08] Capcom, Capcom, honey baby sweetie

[00:42:12] honey sweetie baby listen to me

[00:42:14] baby love

[00:42:16] you money

[00:42:18] holy shit you just

[00:42:20] you'll print money you'll print it

[00:42:22] I promise but don't print money because that's illegal

[00:42:24] and they kids like

[00:42:26] downloading ROMS

[00:42:28] yeah you would

[00:42:30] you wouldn't download a Goose Alfredo

[00:42:32] you wouldn't download

[00:42:34] a half-drink can of Pepsi

[00:42:36] two dollar Pepsi

[00:42:38] if they wanted to if they wanted to make

[00:42:40] Capcom if you want to make even more

[00:42:42] fucking money off of Powerstone 3

[00:42:46] you could put in DLC

[00:42:48] with new guest characters

[00:42:50] from different fucking Capcom properties

[00:42:54] yeah there you go exactly

[00:42:56] race itself dude I don't even have to like I didn't think about that

[00:42:58] could you imagine

[00:43:00] could you imagine just at home

[00:43:02] one day scrolling through Twitter and all of a sudden it's like

[00:43:04] Capcom just announced that you can

[00:43:06] now play as Luke's forearms

[00:43:08] like

[00:43:10] like Luke from what

[00:43:12] do you know Luke from

[00:43:14] Street Fighter 6

[00:43:16] while they're talking about either Luke Skywalker

[00:43:18] or like Luke from Professor Layton

[00:43:20] that was really confused

[00:43:22] that motherfucker's forearms could each be

[00:43:24] a playable character they're

[00:43:26] massive

[00:43:30] it's

[00:43:32] wild shit

[00:43:34] I like how you thought I was talking about

[00:43:36] an actual character

[00:43:38] no I'm talking about his forearms

[00:43:40] just his forearms

[00:43:42] not Goro

[00:43:44] but his arms

[00:43:46] the four of his arms

[00:43:50] oh my god

[00:43:52] here's all the cool shit

[00:43:54] all the cool cool shit they could have

[00:43:56] in Powerstone 3

[00:43:58] Ace Attorney

[00:44:00] Bionic Commando breath of fucking fire

[00:44:02] Cyberbots

[00:44:04] Demon's Crest

[00:44:06] Dead Rising

[00:44:08] Dino Crisis

[00:44:10] as I said put a raptor in there

[00:44:12] fucking final fight dude lost planet

[00:44:14] yeah mega man monster

[00:44:16] do you understand Capcom listen to me

[00:44:18] ok Capcom

[00:44:20] do you understand how much

[00:44:22] money people would throw at you

[00:44:24] if you had a raptor from Dino Crisis

[00:44:26] and a Rathalos

[00:44:28] fighting each other in the background

[00:44:30] of like fucking Raccoon City

[00:44:32] do you understand

[00:44:34] that the internet would collapse

[00:44:36] in and of itself

[00:44:38] it would be the most insane shit

[00:44:40] and then

[00:44:42] like in Powerstone

[00:44:44] when you collect I think it's like five

[00:44:46] of those super power gems you do your

[00:44:48] ultra move with the raptor

[00:44:50] if you collect a whole five it's just

[00:44:52] like a swarm of raptors

[00:44:54] or it transforms into like a giant raptor

[00:44:56] and just fucking eats you

[00:44:58] and then game over

[00:45:00] or you know what

[00:45:02] if we're going to try to be current

[00:45:04] you could throw in that

[00:45:06] what's that new game that live service

[00:45:08] that they have out

[00:45:10] Prime Primal

[00:45:12] Exile Primal yeah

[00:45:14] just have it rain raptors

[00:45:16] from Exile Primal

[00:45:18] yeah dude oh my fucking god

[00:45:20] the daisy of

[00:45:22] dinos

[00:45:24] yeah but yeah Capcom

[00:45:26] seriously like smart enough man

[00:45:28] yep woman child

[00:45:30] whatever you are

[00:45:32] thing I envision you being

[00:45:34] gelatinous cube I don't give a shit

[00:45:36] get a hold of my secretary

[00:45:38] yep do it

[00:45:40] um what you got Jerry

[00:45:42] alright I got

[00:45:44] one more for ya

[00:45:46] this is one that I've known about

[00:45:48] for years

[00:45:50] I played it off and on

[00:45:52] it's only been recently that my buddy

[00:45:54] brought it to my attention

[00:45:56] and was like

[00:45:58] dude

[00:46:00] you have to try playing some f0

[00:46:02] gx

[00:46:04] it's insane

[00:46:06] and I was like yeah I know f0

[00:46:08] he was like no no no

[00:46:10] like this is

[00:46:12] this is something else and I threw it on

[00:46:14] and I was like holy

[00:46:16] shit dude

[00:46:18] f0 gx

[00:46:20] it's fast

[00:46:22] fucks

[00:46:24] hard

[00:46:26] and loud

[00:46:28] for a long time

[00:46:30] it does it fucks like

[00:46:32] the kids are at the babysitters for the night

[00:46:36] shout out to all the dads

[00:46:38] dude

[00:46:40] hahahahha

[00:46:42] shit

[00:46:44] oh

[00:46:46] shit

[00:46:48] oh fuck man

[00:46:50] but it does

[00:46:52] it's insane it's like it's unlike

[00:46:54] any other racer I've ever played

[00:46:56] like it's an arcadey like

[00:46:58] I've stated before that f0

[00:47:00] is kind of like

[00:47:02] one of the best

[00:47:04] it is one of the best racing games I've ever played

[00:47:06] because it is so different

[00:47:08] like I would say that it's

[00:47:10] it's way more

[00:47:12] intense than like Mario Kart

[00:47:14] Mario Kart is fun and it's accessible

[00:47:16] because everybody knows Mario Kart

[00:47:18] you can't be like hey

[00:47:20] fucking

[00:47:22] Lucy do you want to come over and play

[00:47:24] f0 gx

[00:47:26] she's gonna shit her pants

[00:47:28] she's gonna die you're gonna need to call 911

[00:47:30] because she's not gonna understand

[00:47:32] how fast she's going

[00:47:34] dude she's gonna have a fucking stroke

[00:47:38] yeah man like it's

[00:47:40] it's wild and like it's very intense

[00:47:42] and I feel like

[00:47:44] the point that I'm getting at here is that

[00:47:46] f0 99

[00:47:48] I know just kind of came out like

[00:47:50] when was that last year the year before

[00:47:54] the switch on line thing that they did

[00:47:56] it was just like earlier

[00:47:58] really late 2023

[00:48:00] I'm pretty sure

[00:48:02] Nintendo I appreciate

[00:48:04] Nintendo let me just can I talk to Nintendo one on one for a second

[00:48:06] hey Nintendo

[00:48:08] pull up a seat

[00:48:10] free Oreos underneath your chair

[00:48:12] let's chat

[00:48:14] let's pow wow

[00:48:16] I appreciate

[00:48:18] what you like the effort

[00:48:20] like you

[00:48:22] you let us know that you didn't forget

[00:48:24] that f0 is a good game

[00:48:28] you know I haven't forgotten that you forgot

[00:48:30] about starfox

[00:48:32] that's

[00:48:34] gone by the wayside and I don't even believe

[00:48:36] that Metroid 4

[00:48:38] Metroid Prime 4 is in development

[00:48:40] I don't believe that even though you keep saying it is

[00:48:42] but it was nice to see that f0 99

[00:48:44] showed up and was like

[00:48:46] hey we still own this franchise

[00:48:48] we can still do something with it

[00:48:50] but to me that wasn't

[00:48:52] the f0 game that

[00:48:54] deserves to come out for f0

[00:48:56] fans I'm not even a diehard f0

[00:48:58] fan but I feel like

[00:49:00] fans of the game

[00:49:02] albeit liked 99

[00:49:04] they would absolutely

[00:49:06] crumble

[00:49:08] if something like GX came out

[00:49:10] like a proper f0

[00:49:12] sequel

[00:49:14] like

[00:49:16] GX came out now

[00:49:18] hard agree

[00:49:20] bring that shit back

[00:49:22] bring back the intensity

[00:49:24] again kind of like what we were saying with Powerstone

[00:49:26] bring in crazy maps

[00:49:28] that are like crossovers and stuff

[00:49:30] everybody likes a crossover now

[00:49:32] I'm not even opposed to it

[00:49:34] give me a crossover in an f0 game

[00:49:36] bring some wild shit in there

[00:49:38] I would love to

[00:49:40] annihilate my opponents

[00:49:42] and go faster than light

[00:49:44] in f0 Kirby's dream land

[00:49:48] that would be crazy

[00:49:50] see Kirby like riding pat

[00:49:52] put Kirby as an unlockable character on his little star

[00:49:58] hey Nintendo while you're at it

[00:50:00] revamp the

[00:50:02] ship customization

[00:50:04] you could make

[00:50:06] your own ship in GX

[00:50:08] revamp it a little bit

[00:50:10] make some cooler shit man

[00:50:12] let me put a propeller on it

[00:50:14] even though it won't do a god damn thing

[00:50:16] put a propeller on it

[00:50:18] what if the propeller though

[00:50:20] when somebody is in front of you

[00:50:22] they get hit

[00:50:24] that's the thing about f0

[00:50:26] it's all about

[00:50:28] actively trying to

[00:50:30] damage everybody

[00:50:32] without the use of

[00:50:34] the Mario Kart powerups

[00:50:36] it's all about like

[00:50:38] I'm gonna ram my shit into this car

[00:50:40] like

[00:50:42] it's like a violent

[00:50:44] tendency

[00:50:46] you get that rival thing showing you who your rival is

[00:50:48] and you're like f mother fucker

[00:50:50] I'm gonna ram into him

[00:50:52] like I'm driving a f0 97 Toyota Corolla

[00:50:54] like you best believe

[00:50:56] the most dispensable car

[00:50:58] no demand

[00:51:00] you can't kill a

[00:51:02] Toyota Corolla

[00:51:06] dude I played a shit

[00:51:08] ton of f0 gx as a kid

[00:51:10] and yeah man

[00:51:12] I fucking tell you what

[00:51:14] the higher tier

[00:51:16] like

[00:51:18] the higher tier like grand prix cups

[00:51:20] I think the highest one I got to

[00:51:22] was like the emerald cup or something

[00:51:24] and those tracks

[00:51:26] the higher you get

[00:51:28] the more tracks

[00:51:32] the higher tier you get

[00:51:34] the higher tier cup you get to

[00:51:36] the less walls

[00:51:38] and borders you see

[00:51:40] on tracks

[00:51:42] if you miss a turn

[00:51:44] if you blink for like a second

[00:51:46] and a turn comes up

[00:51:48] you're dead last place

[00:51:50] I feel like more than ever

[00:51:52] people really like a challenging game

[00:51:58] again I don't try to

[00:52:00] come off as like this I play Dark Souls

[00:52:02] that's what I play

[00:52:04] I know how to play video games

[00:52:06] but Dark Souls thing kind of

[00:52:08] reinvigorated

[00:52:10] hard games

[00:52:12] bring back those hard games

[00:52:14] even shit like Celes

[00:52:16] those 2D kind of things

[00:52:18] bring back the difficulty

[00:52:20] in a racer

[00:52:22] and I understand

[00:52:24] some of those sim racers

[00:52:26] yes they can be

[00:52:28] quite difficult but for different reasons

[00:52:30] the thing that I always think about

[00:52:32] is the fact that

[00:52:34] if I throw on any Mario Kart

[00:52:36] I mean

[00:52:38] any Mario Kart

[00:52:40] right now

[00:52:42] I could put it up to 150 CCs

[00:52:44] and whatever cup

[00:52:46] I can almost guarantee you

[00:52:48] that I'm gonna get first

[00:52:50] and if not first

[00:52:52] at least second

[00:52:54] I'm good at Mario Kart

[00:52:56] but like I threw 1F0GX

[00:52:58] and in the first cup

[00:53:00] I was like

[00:53:02] what the hell is going on

[00:53:04] like I am not doing good

[00:53:06] I was like in and like there's so many people

[00:53:08] I was like what do you mean

[00:53:10] I'm in 20th place

[00:53:12] like it was crazy

[00:53:14] and I feel like

[00:53:16] translating the difficulty

[00:53:18] the intensity the speed

[00:53:20] dude the speed can you imagine

[00:53:22] a fucking F0 on like

[00:53:24] whatever the next switch console is

[00:53:26] they somehow managed to do like

[00:53:28] 120 frames

[00:53:30] could you imagine an F0 and 120

[00:53:32] just going like

[00:53:34] last off fucking speeds

[00:53:36] oh dude it was

[00:53:38] my brain would turn into soup

[00:53:40] dude that's

[00:53:42] I want it

[00:53:44] yeah me too

[00:53:46] I want it so bad

[00:53:48] god damn

[00:53:50] we should parsec some GX sometime

[00:53:52] in power stone

[00:53:54] we still gotta do power stone

[00:53:56] yeah we gotta do power stone knight

[00:53:58] we gotta do power stone knight with some of the homies

[00:54:00] um

[00:54:02] but yeah that's uh that's my

[00:54:04] that's your list

[00:54:06] that's our six games

[00:54:08] that we feel like need to come back from the dead

[00:54:10] throw some phoenix downs on them

[00:54:12] you know get it pop a Ouija board out real quick

[00:54:14] contact Nintendo and Capcom

[00:54:16] let me

[00:54:18] let me spit out a

[00:54:20] a quick honorable mention

[00:54:22] to uh to Golden Son

[00:54:24] pretty bad Golden Son

[00:54:26] oh shit

[00:54:28] yep

[00:54:30] of course now you'll be

[00:54:32] upset and maybe a little excited to know that I've

[00:54:34] never played Golden Son

[00:54:36] it's on switch

[00:54:38] or I mean you know what

[00:54:40] you know what else is gonna be on

[00:54:42] Mr. in log pocket

[00:54:44] mm-hmm

[00:54:46] god damn right

[00:54:48] that's the perfect way to play it

[00:54:50] on the analog pocket

[00:54:52] I forgot to put a

[00:54:54] game on the

[00:54:56] random game recommendation

[00:54:58] thing so uh draw it out for

[00:55:00] a little bit let me let me find one real fast

[00:55:02] one good one

[00:55:04] um power up this this little

[00:55:06] bitch real quick

[00:55:08] oh what is that you have again

[00:55:10] what is the thing

[00:55:12] the um anbernic

[00:55:14] RG35

[00:55:16] yeah

[00:55:18] yeah nice

[00:55:22] I've actually heard that that's a

[00:55:24] very like competent

[00:55:26] little retro

[00:55:28] emulator thing

[00:55:30] the other running uh

[00:55:32] that's running Botto Sarah right

[00:55:34] mine's mine's running uh

[00:55:38] it just showed

[00:55:40] it mine's running uh Arco s

[00:55:42] Botto Sarah it's one of the other ones

[00:55:44] that you can't put on it the uh

[00:55:46] the stock one

[00:55:48] it's this model

[00:55:50] only ships with uh with with Linux

[00:55:52] um

[00:55:54] but you can put you can put Botto Sarah

[00:55:56] on it like it is Linux yeah

[00:55:58] yeah uh

[00:56:00] Arco s is decent too that's like

[00:56:02] the retro arc thing right

[00:56:04] yeah yeah it's all retro

[00:56:06] arc and ship

[00:56:08] I uh I have

[00:56:10] I have my recommendation

[00:56:12] good

[00:56:14] good good good all right well

[00:56:16] um

[00:56:18] why don't we

[00:56:20] cut to a commercial

[00:56:22] break before we get

[00:56:24] to our recommendations

[00:56:26] before we start spitting

[00:56:28] out what we feel like is the

[00:56:30] most recommended

[00:56:32] games yes

[00:56:34] recommended

[00:56:38] all right well let's take a quick

[00:56:40] first break and uh we'll be back

[00:56:42] for our with more show

[00:56:52] so batteries you know

[00:56:54] once once you use up all the juice

[00:56:56] in them and they're done

[00:56:58] that sucks I mean you could recycle um

[00:57:00] throw them in the trash but uh what if

[00:57:02] I were to tell you there's there's another another use for those

[00:57:04] batteries that have been sitting in a landfill

[00:57:06] I'm gonna send them off to a recycle center what

[00:57:08] if I were to tell you that uh

[00:57:10] you could you could eat

[00:57:12] you can eat them you can eat them you could feed your

[00:57:14] family you know say

[00:57:16] they say you use up like

[00:57:18] four double a batteries

[00:57:20] and like a remote control car

[00:57:22] or in your fat fucking direct TV

[00:57:24] remote you know for four

[00:57:26] double a batteries in a fucking remote dude that's

[00:57:28] obscene that's disgusting

[00:57:30] the 32 batteries that

[00:57:32] you have to use on a game gear

[00:57:34] yeah fucking oh my god

[00:57:36] but no more

[00:57:38] well I mean not no more because you do

[00:57:40] still use the batteries but uh now

[00:57:42] they won't be filling up

[00:57:44] space in your trash or the landfill because

[00:57:46] soon as those batteries are done you just

[00:57:48] put them in a put them on a plate

[00:57:50] put them

[00:57:52] put them in the microwave

[00:57:54] put them in the

[00:57:56] please make sure please make

[00:57:58] sure that these are edible batteries

[00:58:00] only and not like regular batteries

[00:58:02] but yeah you don't want to throw it during some life

[00:58:04] in the microwave but uh yeah

[00:58:06] Aaron there's never been a better time

[00:58:08] to try out a battery an edible

[00:58:10] battery not not not the brand

[00:58:12] name ones don't do that listeners

[00:58:14] do not do you make sure

[00:58:16] at at the end of this ad that you're

[00:58:18] you're going to edible batteries

[00:58:20] for me

[00:58:22] forward slash

[00:58:24] Aaron is

[00:58:28] the king of edible batteries

[00:58:30] dot org

[00:58:32] edible battery

[00:58:34] king

[00:58:36] dot

[00:58:38] uh

[00:58:40] yeah the edible batteries I mean yeah you could eat a raw

[00:58:42] like a hot dog if you wanted but like edible

[00:58:44] or not

[00:58:46] raw hot dogs are just like

[00:58:48] why eat a raw hot dog when you could

[00:58:50] you could boil it you could microwave it

[00:58:52] you could deep fry it if you fucking want

[00:58:54] to throw in the grill

[00:58:56] I mean you could take

[00:58:58] you could take a handful of edible batteries

[00:59:00] throw them in a bun

[00:59:02] go grab all those pennies that are

[00:59:04] no longer used in our economy

[00:59:06] melt them down into some

[00:59:08] delicious copper just drizzle

[00:59:10] that shit over it there you go

[00:59:12] you gotta you gotta

[00:59:14] copper battery dog

[00:59:16] yeah dude grind them up real good

[00:59:18] grind up those batteries real good

[00:59:20] oh yeah boom battery

[00:59:22] chili boom I

[00:59:24] mean where was this in the 90s

[00:59:26] when you're sitting on a flight from

[00:59:28] fucking

[00:59:30] Ohio to

[00:59:32] dude what's

[00:59:34] Ohio to Nebraska

[00:59:36] Mr. Worldwide 305

[00:59:38] Mr. 305

[00:59:40] you know you're sitting there with your game

[00:59:42] you're sitting there with your game gear

[00:59:44] and it's like oh shit these batteries are about

[00:59:46] to die but they're gonna feed

[00:59:48] my whole fucking family

[00:59:50] and you turn around and you start giving them out

[00:59:52] piecemeal to all the

[00:59:54] the callisters and then you realize

[00:59:56] you forgot Kevin at home

[00:59:58] the better number nine

[01:00:00] and you're like

[01:00:04] dude could you imagine some kid on a

[01:00:06] on a flight just imagine

[01:00:08] a kid with a game gear on a flight first of all

[01:00:10] be a kid with a game gear on a flight

[01:00:12] his game gear dies

[01:00:14] oh jeez

[01:00:16] I forgot to pack the extra double

[01:00:18] A's and then he just opens

[01:00:20] at the back takes out the battery and just

[01:00:22] and then he realizes

[01:00:24] that it's not an edible battery

[01:00:26] and then he dies because that's what will happen

[01:00:28] if you don't eat edible batteries

[01:00:30] you'll die so don't eat

[01:00:32] real batteries okay

[01:00:34] you eat the animal on my inside

[01:00:36] so I'll clam chow down

[01:00:38] then yeah

[01:00:40] then you gotta make an emergency

[01:00:42] flight stop somewhere

[01:00:44] that you don't want to be

[01:00:46] now you don't now now you have to

[01:00:48] rely on no batteries

[01:00:50] you're playing a game gear that doesn't

[01:00:52] work now you can't plug it in

[01:00:54] because it's the 90s

[01:00:56] you just eat the edible batteries

[01:00:58] don't bother with the non-edible ones

[01:01:00] you wouldn't make a plane

[01:01:02] make an emergency landing

[01:01:04] you would buy

[01:01:06] not inedible batteries

[01:01:08] buy it you wouldn't download a

[01:01:10] non-edible battery

[01:01:12] you wouldn't cook a goose

[01:01:14] or maybe you would

[01:01:16] who knows

[01:01:18] but tell them where can they go to get

[01:01:20] edible batteries

[01:01:22] I remember that website

[01:01:24] edible batteries dot com

[01:01:26] forward slash

[01:01:28] errant is the king of batteries

[01:01:30] com

[01:01:32] forward slash

[01:01:34] potpage dot com

[01:01:36] dot link dot link dot tr dot e

[01:01:40] and what was the LinkedIn address

[01:01:42] edible batteries check them out

[01:01:44] yes

[01:01:46] delicious

[01:01:48] all right

[01:01:50] and we are back

[01:01:52] we're back to close it out

[01:01:54] and of course as

[01:01:56] as always

[01:01:58] as always

[01:02:00] we are going to close with a

[01:02:02] random recommended game

[01:02:04] and I'm gonna continue saying that

[01:02:06] and I'm gonna continue saying that

[01:02:08] and I'm gonna continue saying that

[01:02:10] and I'm gonna continue saying that

[01:02:12] not because

[01:02:14] I know my mistake

[01:02:16] but now I'm gonna play on it

[01:02:18] because I tend to

[01:02:20] fuck up words pretty often

[01:02:22] so random recommended games

[01:02:26] I'll take it away

[01:02:28] first I guess

[01:02:32] my friend

[01:02:34] who I talk about quite a bit on this show

[01:02:36] and on Super Ghost

[01:02:38] and my friend in the podcast, Dallo

[01:02:40] he is a wealth

[01:02:42] of retro game

[01:02:44] libraries and

[01:02:46] just knowledge

[01:02:48] he

[01:02:50] randomly one night was like dude

[01:02:52] I can't stop playing beach spikers

[01:02:54] I was like the fuck is that

[01:02:56] and he was like it's a volleyball game

[01:02:58] and I was like why is it like

[01:03:00] Dettaro live or something

[01:03:02] he's like not even

[01:03:04] and he was like what if I told

[01:03:06] super intense volleyball game

[01:03:08] with timed hits

[01:03:10] and I was like

[01:03:12] tell me more

[01:03:14] I played this game at his house last weekend

[01:03:16] and let me tell you

[01:03:18] this game

[01:03:20] is fucking

[01:03:22] wild dude it is so

[01:03:24] intense it's so intense

[01:03:26] I went around the world

[01:03:28] like I was touring

[01:03:30] it was crazy

[01:03:32] not with pitbull

[01:03:34] he I mean he existed I guess

[01:03:36] back then but he was a Mr. Worldwide

[01:03:38] he wasn't shit

[01:03:40] he was still like 5'7'' back then

[01:03:42] so

[01:03:44] short bitch

[01:03:46] but yeah no beach spikers

[01:03:48] it

[01:03:50] it is

[01:03:52] a volleyball game

[01:03:54] but it's by Sega

[01:03:56] it's like it's very arcadey

[01:04:00] and it's just so fun

[01:04:02] it's simple but so fun

[01:04:04] it's very challenging

[01:04:06] once I started getting into the higher cups

[01:04:08] it started getting quite challenging

[01:04:10] and I could see the appeal of it

[01:04:12] even if you don't like sports or anything

[01:04:14] you could just

[01:04:16] turn this on

[01:04:18] and very quickly pick up on

[01:04:20] the gameplay style

[01:04:22] and stuff and yeah 100%

[01:04:24] if you have access to this game

[01:04:26] play it any way you can

[01:04:28] just try it out

[01:04:30] and understand what I'm talking about

[01:04:32] it's fantastic

[01:04:34] Aaron

[01:04:36] what you got for us

[01:04:38] first off

[01:04:40] I have nothing against short people

[01:04:42] I am 6'2''

[01:04:44] don't listen to the allegations

[01:04:46] I'm just kidding

[01:04:48] I mean I am

[01:04:50] vertically challenged

[01:04:52] I'm only 5'6''

[01:04:54] that's fine

[01:04:56] it's all pitbull

[01:04:58] I'm still

[01:05:00] still don't care for pitbull

[01:05:02] it really bothers me to know that I would have to look up to pitbull

[01:05:06] oh man yeah

[01:05:08] even if it's slightly

[01:05:10] it's still more than I would want to

[01:05:16] hey the game I'm recommending

[01:05:18] it's another

[01:05:20] Sega game it's Defenders of Oasis

[01:05:22] on Game Gear

[01:05:24] a game that eats batteries that you could then eat batteries

[01:05:26] it's Defenders of Oasis

[01:05:28] as far as I know

[01:05:30] it's not at all related to like

[01:05:32] Beyond Oasis

[01:05:34] or Legend of Oasis

[01:05:36] is it

[01:05:38] not that

[01:05:40] it's different

[01:05:42] it's a

[01:05:44] it's a turn based RPG

[01:05:46] and

[01:05:48] the main character you play

[01:05:50] is this Prince

[01:05:52] basically the bad guys

[01:05:54] are out to resurrect this evil god

[01:05:56] and you're basically just going along from place to place

[01:05:58] going to stop the

[01:06:00] resurrection of that evil god

[01:06:02] and do you only ever have your party

[01:06:04] of three characters so you get pretty early in the game

[01:06:06] so there's your prince who is like

[01:06:08] an all-rounder basically

[01:06:10] you get a genie who is

[01:06:12] your only spellcaster

[01:06:16] and then the other person's like Salim

[01:06:18] he's like this blade dancer guy so he's like really quick

[01:06:20] and he can land multiple hits

[01:06:22] in one attack and he's really agile

[01:06:24] and stuff like that but

[01:06:26] yeah I first discovered this game

[01:06:28] oddly enough on the 3DS

[01:06:30] Virtual Console because they had a shit ton

[01:06:32] of awesome Game Gear games on there

[01:06:34] yeah

[01:06:36] it's pretty cool

[01:06:38] and you said it's a turn based RPG

[01:06:40] yeah dude

[01:06:42] I'm a sucker for a turn based RPG

[01:06:44] so

[01:06:46] I might have to check that out

[01:06:48] the visuals are pretty fucking cool

[01:06:50] for the game gear holy shit actually

[01:06:54] there is a fourth playable character

[01:06:56] what the fuck I must not have gotten them then

[01:07:00] one sec can we look this up real fast

[01:07:06] here we go

[01:07:08] hardcore gaming 101

[01:07:14] whatever yeah

[01:07:16] I guess there's four characters

[01:07:18] but yeah it's a good game

[01:07:20] sweet

[01:07:22] good stuff

[01:07:24] well that takes us to the

[01:07:26] end here
