[00:00:00] Everybody! Everybody's nothing big bird! Come see what's almost did!
[00:00:05] Welcome to Remember show everyone.
[00:00:44] My name is David Patrangelo and I really, really want to play one of the most iconic
[00:00:50] and most nostalgic opening themes ever on this episode.
[00:00:54] But then I'm very scared that we're just going to get dinged with a copyright claim.
[00:00:57] So instead, you get this.
[00:01:00] Do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do sense to you whatsoever. Maybe you got it from the theme. Maybe I got it from that amazing impression right there. But this time we are talking about Elmo's number journey
[00:01:28] and Elmo's letter adventure. And what a perfect time. If you're listening to this when this
[00:01:34] episode comes out in 2024 in March, what better way than to bring school to you while you're
[00:01:39] on March or spring break? Come on. That's just what this is about. Yeah, we're here to
[00:01:44] bring us bring us some school. You don't have to do homework. We did it for you, but we're
[00:01:47] going to tell you all about it and what is what it all means. So that's what we're
[00:01:52] covering today. That's going to be the double header, two games that we're covering. I think
[00:01:57] this was something that we had on our to-do list on our checkboxes for a little while. And
[00:02:04] we kind of landed on it because we're like,
[00:02:06] we kind of need something shorter this time around.
[00:02:08] Let's find something short.
[00:02:10] And this was one of the shortest ones that popped up.
[00:02:13] So here we are.
[00:02:16] Oh, we're here.
[00:02:17] I can't believe it.
[00:02:18] I can't believe the day has finally come
[00:02:20] that we get to tackle both of these games,
[00:02:22] these mythical games that I've seen growing up so many times and never like so many garage sales so many I've always seen
[00:02:32] Elmo involved. It's always been super cheap never picked it up because obviously this
[00:02:37] is going to be terrible. But been so curious as to a, how they actually play, because I've never watched anything about them.
[00:02:47] B, are they actually terrible question mark?
[00:02:50] Is there any redeeming qualities?
[00:02:53] I actually would argue there is.
[00:02:58] We'll get into that.
[00:02:59] Yes, we will.
[00:03:00] Absolutely.
[00:03:00] So actually, that's one of the first things I want to talk about is because you're
[00:03:05] several years younger than me, there's a little bit of a time difference of what Sesame Street
[00:03:10] means to both of us. So it's not even necessarily directly related to this game, but it is a little
[00:03:16] bit like you said, you saw these games sort of maybe come across your peripheral around the time
[00:03:21] that they came out. They both came out in 1999. That's the year that these came out.
[00:03:26] But Sesame Street for me was in my back mirror by that point.
[00:03:32] Like it was, for me it's early 90s
[00:03:34] and you know, first couple of years of the 80s
[00:03:38] after I was born kind of thing.
[00:03:39] So basically by the time the N64 came around,
[00:03:42] I was out of my Sesame Street phase.
[00:03:45] That's it.
[00:03:46] So I only know these exist because as I got older, I just was more aware of games that
[00:03:51] came out around that time.
[00:03:53] But I don't think this ever crossed my view at all in 98, 99 or 2000 or anywhere around
[00:04:00] there.
[00:04:01] But for you, how did you grow up as Smece? Because for me, it was a huge part of
[00:04:08] me growing up. I mean, I don't, I probably just had less TV available. I lived kind of
[00:04:14] in the middle of nowhere. And we had like four channels when I was young. And this is
[00:04:19] one of those go tos. My parents tell me that I was glued to the TV when Sesame Street came
[00:04:24] on. I was that kid. I do remember watching it, but not that intently that I was glued to the TV when Sesame Street came on.
[00:04:25] I was that kid.
[00:04:26] I do remember watching it, but not that intently because I was, you know, three years old or
[00:04:30] two years old or something, right?
[00:04:31] But, you know, there was no Dora.
[00:04:33] There was no SpongeBob.
[00:04:34] There was no Bluey.
[00:04:36] It was Sesame Street.
[00:04:37] That's, that's what I had.
[00:04:38] So that was my version of it.
[00:04:40] And yeah, like I said, games like this just were not in my wheelhouse at this time based on age. So what about you?
[00:04:47] Well, first thing I want to say is that one of those shows you mentioned is not like the others in that a SpongeBob.
[00:04:52] I know. I know. I know. I know what you meant. But I was like, okay.
[00:04:58] I would say early SpongeBob is much more quote-unquote
[00:05:02] not child friendly because they're all kind of, you
[00:05:05] know, can be for kids, but like earlier ones that I remember at least watching the first
[00:05:09] couple seasons, like when I was younger, or they don't have as many like inside jokes.
[00:05:14] If that makes sense, culturally relevant jokes, you know, stuff like that.
[00:05:18] But again, that's my experience with SpongeBob is when it first started, not, you know,
[00:05:22] even five, six, 10 years ago. It was like early 2000s.
[00:05:25] I remember when SpongeBob first started.
[00:05:27] Oh, OK.
[00:05:28] I, yeah, I was there.
[00:05:29] I watched the first couple of episodes and I remember thinking this is weird.
[00:05:32] Yes.
[00:05:33] But liking it, you know, just the whole concept.
[00:05:36] I was old enough to think it was weird.
[00:05:37] I probably would have been like six maybe.
[00:05:40] Yeah.
[00:05:41] So that I would, I would have been, yeah, I would have been at least over 10 by that
[00:05:45] point when yeah when it debuted so yeah so Sesame Street is one of the longest running shows.
[00:05:51] Yeah, Sesame Street is one of the longest running TV shows programs of any kind in the history of
[00:05:56] TV. So do you have experience with it or had you had experience with it? Minimal. Okay. I so growing up like as a kid, I had Barney the dinosaur was a big, big deal.
[00:06:11] I had bananas and pajamas. Yes, I remember that. That was probably what I love. And
[00:06:16] Blue's Clues was really like I when I was a kid, Blue's Clues was in a Tade and that was arguably my favorite show. Sesame Street
[00:06:25] existed but I didn't really get into it. I know, I must have watched enough to
[00:06:33] know the Elmo's World song which I know came a little bit later but I know the
[00:06:38] Elmo's World song. I may not know all the lyrics but I know the...
[00:06:42] It's recognizable to you, yeah. Ta-da! You know, and I remember that,
[00:06:46] and I remember the scribbles and everything.
[00:06:48] Mm-hmm.
[00:06:50] Yeah, Sesame Street was never something
[00:06:52] that I sat there and actively watched.
[00:06:54] It was around.
[00:06:56] It was a thing.
[00:06:57] I just didn't, it wasn't my thing.
[00:06:59] I liked other things more.
[00:07:00] Yeah.
[00:07:01] I think kind of the Muppet,
[00:07:04] the Muppet characters maybe just I was kind of afraid of puppets
[00:07:10] as a kid. Like puppets, ventriloquistemies, like those kind of they creep me out and I
[00:07:15] had a fear of them. I wasn't afraid of Sesame Street, but I think just that general like
[00:07:21] I didn't like puppets kind of pushed me away from it a little bit more.
[00:07:25] You know, just in case something creepy did show up.
[00:07:28] Just in case Elmo's head popped off
[00:07:30] or someone came out of Elmo's mouth or something,
[00:07:32] you know, some weird thing.
[00:07:33] Yeah, every traumatized, traumatized for life.
[00:07:35] Or like, of course.
[00:07:36] But there is something too that there is,
[00:07:38] there is a sort of uncanny valley to Sesame Street, right?
[00:07:41] Oh, for some characters, absolutely.
[00:07:43] Absolutely. Yeah.
[00:07:44] There is this, this creepy factor thing going on?
[00:07:49] Yeah.
[00:07:49] I think, I think based on the shows that you're saying that we're pretty much
[00:07:55] your wheelhouse around the same age that I was watching Sesame Street is why
[00:08:00] maybe Sesame Street wasn't at the forefront, right?
[00:08:03] Because those existed, right?
[00:08:04] You had
[00:08:05] those choices like Barney, huge for my cousins, my younger cousins and my brother and like,
[00:08:09] you know, blues clues, same thing, 100%. That was in my family, my friends, like, I know
[00:08:14] of those because they were just a few years behind me kind of thing. So those existed,
[00:08:19] they didn't for me. So Sesame Street was one of those things, all kind of educational,
[00:08:23] you know, that that's sort of educational programming. So that's all part of it. I will say what yeah, I was just gonna say that
[00:08:31] Like I said, yeah, like kind of afraid like didn't really wasn't my thing, but I love the muppets
[00:08:36] So what I said just apply these are basically muppets, but I like the are the comments. I liked Kermit the frog
[00:08:43] I didn't like these guys. Yeah, it's the same. It's the same
[00:08:46] Henson yeah, it's in company and Frank Oz and those guys right. It's the same thing
[00:08:51] So actually jumping off that same thing whether if you have any experience with Sesame Street at all even if it's minimal like you do I
[00:08:58] Highly highly recommend the movie. I just looked up the exact title because it's a little bit of an odd title,
[00:09:05] but it kind of makes sense.
[00:09:06] Street gang, how we got to Sesame Street is the full title.
[00:09:10] That's a documentary that came out a couple years ago.
[00:09:13] And it is how they made Sesame Street,
[00:09:15] how they conceptualized it, how they made it come to life,
[00:09:18] how they basically tells the tale from like 19,
[00:09:21] I wanna say it's like 1970 or whenever they first,
[00:09:23] or 68, something like that when they first debuted it, how they came up with the ideas, how they executed everything up until
[00:09:29] about, I would say the early 90s, mid 80s kind of thing. And just how they implemented curriculum,
[00:09:37] how they how they came up with the muppet ideas and the characters, the voices, the people that
[00:09:42] were the characters and designed everything wrote the songs, created these characters, the voices, the people that were the characters and designed everything wrote
[00:09:45] the songs, created these characters.
[00:09:47] Like it is, and honestly, like, I sort of like look back at movies that I've watched
[00:09:55] at the end of the year, and for 2021, when this came out, this was my favorite movie
[00:10:01] of that year.
[00:10:02] It was amazing.
[00:10:03] And it made me laugh.
[00:10:04] It made me cry.
[00:10:05] Just watch this movie. It is, it's so, so heartwarming and so good. Yeah, I just highly recommend. I
[00:10:14] just want to I want more people to watch it. And one more view. It's so great.
[00:10:17] Yeah, it comes from that era of public access, television, being a thing, and educational TV.
[00:10:23] And like Mr. Rogers is another good example
[00:10:25] of that. Yep. So I could understand Mr. Rogers. I never watched Mr. Rogers. I knew of it.
[00:10:32] I probably seen an episode or two didn't really watch that one either. That was maybe it was
[00:10:36] a little bit before me or happened kind of it was it was it was ending. It was ending when I was
[00:10:41] starting to watch Sesame Street, essentially. Yeah. Yeah. So but same, same vibe.
[00:10:46] Anytime you see any documentary or anything on it or the movie with Tom Hanks, it's like,
[00:10:50] yeah, yeah, it's a bit emotional because they're just genuinely trying to do something good.
[00:10:54] And it's heartwarming.
[00:10:55] Exactly.
[00:10:55] Exactly.
[00:10:56] And that, you know, it this these games, you know, they're not that, but there's something there.
[00:11:02] There's something there.
[00:11:02] So I, I, so I, I kind of stepped on my own toes here, Q and up, uh not that, but there's something there. There's something there. So, um, I, I, so I,
[00:11:05] I kind of stepped on my own toes here, queuing up, uh, something, but, um, this is the perfect,
[00:11:11] this is almost like the perfect sound bite that I've been using since day one that applies
[00:11:17] so much to this episode. So bust out your history books, everybody.
[00:11:22] I'm learning. We're going back to November of 1999. And
[00:11:27] because we are learning and learning with Elmo, I'm going to do it again. I'm learning
[00:11:33] because I love it. I know it's a Simpsons, but too bad everybody you get it twice, probably
[00:11:36] even more than that. Okay, so here's here's what I found with the description of this
[00:11:43] game and some info about the companies that made it, which
[00:11:47] I thought maybe it would be one of those games that has very minimal, you know background. It's just hey at Sesame Street
[00:11:54] It's a kid's game. Let's just get somebody to license this and pump something out
[00:11:58] It's a little bit of that. It's a little bit of that, you know, like you get that with license games sometimes
[00:12:03] I think right like I think that's not unfortunately it's a little bit of that, you know, like, you get that with license game sometimes, I think, right? Like, I think that's not unfortunate.
[00:12:05] It's not that uncommon, especially in the 90s. It's just, let's get a name,
[00:12:10] slap the company on it and create anything. Power Rangers was a perfect
[00:12:15] example, I think in some ways. Yeah, for sure. So, I'll be enough. I thought of
[00:12:21] Power Rangers when I was playing this game. I did too. I think we're on the same. Oh my gosh. Okay. Cool. I think we're on the same page on
[00:12:27] I will see what point but we'll get to that. Yeah, okay, so this was published by new kid co
[00:12:34] They acquired the rights
[00:12:36] For properties like Sesame Street
[00:12:38] Door the Explorer they made games about that they had Tom and Jerry games as well
[00:12:43] Most of their games were rated E for everyone,
[00:12:47] which is very common for games like this.
[00:12:49] I accept one.
[00:12:51] A Tom and Jerry game that,
[00:12:52] I don't know if you've seen this game,
[00:12:54] I looked it up, I was like, oh, I don't recognize this.
[00:12:56] It's called Tom and Jerry War of the Whiskers,
[00:12:59] and it came out for Xbox, PS2 and GameCube.
[00:13:03] And it's rated T for teen for excessive cartoon violence.
[00:13:08] Ooh.
[00:13:10] Yeah, so it's, you know,
[00:13:11] you're going into the next generation of consoles
[00:13:13] and you could do more with it.
[00:13:14] And I guess, you know, it seems like it's very similar
[00:13:17] to the Tom and Jerry, that's 4N64,
[00:13:19] where you're kind of in a room and you battle each other,
[00:13:21] but maybe it's just, you know,
[00:13:24] you can see it all more or it's just more
[00:13:26] Graphically, it does look good. Yeah, it does look kind of cool. So very cool art style and everything. So that's the publisher
[00:13:34] that
[00:13:36] That put this out there. They have pretty much all educational stuff that they put out there or
[00:13:41] Some version of a kid's cartoon or something like that. That's basically what it was
[00:13:45] um that they put out there or some version of a kid's cartoon or something like that. That's basically what it was.
[00:13:50] So it was also developed by Realtime Associates. I recognized the logo, but I had no idea what they were
[00:13:53] or who they were, it just popped up
[00:13:55] when I turned on the game.
[00:13:56] They were founded in 86 by ex-metel electronics employees.
[00:14:02] So these people were making little
[00:14:04] metal electronic toys or toys that involved electronics in them and stuff.
[00:14:08] And they said, you know what, we're going to start making games for
[00:14:11] Intellivision. That was their initial goal. That's their main.
[00:14:14] Sounds like a great goal.
[00:14:15] I know, right? That's cool. That's awesome. That's great. So they made a bunch of games
[00:14:20] across Intellivision, TurboGrafx, PC, Game Boy. And then now is my excuse to go down a little bit of a rabbit hole.
[00:14:29] People may have seen me post this online over the last couple days and I'm probably going to do something else about it too.
[00:14:36] If I haven't by the time this episode comes out, I probably will after. But here's my little bit of a rabbit hole, Jiggy. Okay. The most impressive thing I find personally that real-time associates made is create a
[00:14:49] few games in the early and mid-2000s.
[00:14:52] So like GameCube era, right?
[00:14:53] Okay.
[00:14:54] Or at least starting a GameCube era.
[00:14:56] They made games specifically for kids and families that are going through cancer treatment
[00:15:02] and even staff of hospitals that work in those wards
[00:15:06] or in those areas of the hospitals.
[00:15:08] Research went into creating these games
[00:15:10] of like what they could do with it,
[00:15:11] how they can connect with these kids and these families
[00:15:14] and these staff.
[00:15:15] And it's called remission, that's what it's called.
[00:15:19] And the description is the player controls Roxy
[00:15:23] who is a nanobot
[00:15:25] that is designed to be injected in the human body
[00:15:28] and fight particular types of cancer
[00:15:30] and related infections like non-Hodgkin lymphoma
[00:15:34] and leukemia at the cellular level.
[00:15:37] So you are a character going through the human body
[00:15:40] and they're basically teaching you how these medications
[00:15:44] and things like that would work in your body.
[00:15:47] And I'm like, that's such a great idea.
[00:15:50] And on top.
[00:15:50] It sounds like an episode of Magic School Bus.
[00:15:53] Oh, yeah.
[00:15:54] I mean, if Magic School Bus handled cancer,
[00:15:56] yes, that's what it would be.
[00:15:57] If they went to that level, but yes, they do do that.
[00:16:02] They go in at least one of the episodes.
[00:16:04] The blood, yeah, the bloodstream and everything. Yeah. There's one all about the white blood
[00:16:09] cells and all that kind of stuff. Absolutely. Also, perfect example of a show that I grew
[00:16:14] up with that I absolutely love magic school bus. That's great. On top of that, another
[00:16:21] reason why this is great is because there are 20 levels that they
[00:16:26] made. So it's not a small game. It's not like, Hey, just here's a demo and go for it kind
[00:16:30] of thing. They distributed over 200,000 free copies of this. So they brought it to hospitals,
[00:16:40] they gave it the families, they gave it to kids. They gave it the staff and they did it through a nonprofit and
[00:16:53] Distributed 200,000 discs that had these two or three games called remission on it and like re-dash mission
[00:16:55] And I'm like, you know what? That's awesome. You know, I we just talked about a little bit of a heartwarming thing with some of these docket that that's hard
[00:17:01] Warming to me. I love it. I I had to mention that because I think that like they, again, similar to what like Sesame
[00:17:08] Street did just to get started.
[00:17:09] This company put research into it.
[00:17:11] They actually did studies in North America and Australia to find out the best ways
[00:17:17] to make this, you know, effective and all that.
[00:17:19] And I'm like, I love this stuff.
[00:17:21] I, I eat this stuff up.
[00:17:22] It's so, uh, I'm such a saff man. I'm such a saff. I love it.
[00:17:27] You need to think like a place like Elmo's letter adventure. Maybe it's in the bloodstream and it's like grab the cancer.
[00:17:36] And it's like grab three cancers.
[00:17:51] Yeah, grab three cancers. Oh my God. Now that you say that, I mean, even if it was, I don't know, even if it was, I just thought that was a cool little sort of side story. So it's
[00:17:56] funny. Anyways, that's basically cool. Yeah, it's a little sort of side note has nothing
[00:18:02] to do with Sesame Street or Elmo's letter adventure or or a number journey. Yeah, it's a little sort of side note. Has nothing to do with Sesame Street or Elmo's letter adventure or number journey.
[00:18:07] Yeah, number journey.
[00:18:08] I always get the mix up.
[00:18:10] Okay, that's our little side track
[00:18:11] or a little bit of a development history.
[00:18:14] Let's talk about the game itself.
[00:18:16] I want to play a little bit of what it sounds like.
[00:18:21] How's that sound?
[00:18:22] We're gonna try that.
[00:18:23] I'm gonna try that.
[00:18:23] Sounds perfect.
[00:18:24] Sounds perfect. Okay, This is how I believe this is this number journey. I think this is I think this is number journey. Yeah, this is how this one starts.
[00:18:35] Welcome to Sesame Street. I'm so happy to see you. You get the perfect day to visit. Let's go look for some number.
[00:18:44] You get the perfect day to visit. Let's go look for some number.
[00:18:51] Those smell like the best cookies ever.
[00:18:56] The cookie mugs are saving for Elmo. No, no, no, no, but we can go to Cookie World to get more.
[00:19:02] Cookie World sounds like fun.
[00:19:05] Anyways, that's how it starts.
[00:19:07] Oh my gosh.
[00:19:09] Oh, it's excellent, isn't it?
[00:19:11] It's just so good.
[00:19:12] It's so excellent.
[00:19:14] So let's let's talk about the games.
[00:19:17] Let's get into it.
[00:19:18] Two games.
[00:19:19] Yeah, two games here, one based on letters or spelling and the other one based on basic
[00:19:24] numbers.
[00:19:25] It is strictly a learning experience for younger kids.
[00:19:29] That's just of how this all works here.
[00:19:31] So go for a man.
[00:19:34] Would you start with, what do you think?
[00:19:36] What was the, you know?
[00:19:37] So I started with letter, letter journey or letter adventure, whatever it is.
[00:19:41] I don't know.
[00:19:42] I don't know.
[00:19:42] I'm going to get the titles mixed up like 20 times.
[00:19:45] So I'm really glad, I just wanna say,
[00:19:47] I'm really glad we decided to do both of these at once.
[00:19:51] Because I was under the impression
[00:19:54] these were two totally separate games
[00:19:56] and they just made one later.
[00:19:58] Oh, I see, yeah.
[00:19:59] But these are, they honestly could be one game.
[00:20:03] They are the same. They have literally the
[00:20:07] same intro except almost as he's looking for letters rather than numbers. That's literally
[00:20:12] the difference and two different characters that are on. And you're not even there's
[00:20:16] three characters in each game that you interact with and two of them are different between
[00:20:21] the games. Ernie is in both games. I don't understand that. I don't want cookie monster and Grover
[00:20:28] replace each other and Big Bird and the count replace each other.
[00:20:34] And I yeah, so starting with letter journey.
[00:20:39] And yeah, starting with letter journey, there's basically like
[00:20:45] is it three different games?
[00:20:48] Yeah, so there's three in each.
[00:20:50] That's basically, that's what it is.
[00:20:52] Yeah, but I'm wondering, I'm trying to remember
[00:20:54] if the letter journey, if two of them are the same or similar.
[00:20:58] Oh yeah, okay, okay, this reminds me, okay.
[00:21:00] So in the letter journey, you have,
[00:21:03] when you talk to Ernie, you basically, you talk to each character and you get a mini game, right?
[00:21:07] Yeah, and they give you a letter and they just give you a letter.
[00:21:09] Yeah. And they're like, find the letter Z you like's happening right now on screen and talk to Ernie and you're basically your scuba diving.
[00:21:17] Yep. And you just go in and you just move around and kind of navigate to a letter and press a button, doesn't really matter what button.
[00:21:27] Essentially, almost any face button, essentially.
[00:21:31] Like AB or any of the...
[00:21:32] It's the right side of the controller.
[00:21:34] You press it, you're good.
[00:21:35] And the hitbox for it is insane.
[00:21:37] You can be about, I would say,
[00:21:43] in the game, like five feet away from a number and hit the button and still hit it. You just have to be in the game like five feet away from a number.
[00:21:45] Yeah.
[00:21:46] You just have to be in the vicinity of it.
[00:21:48] Yeah.
[00:21:49] Yeah.
[00:21:50] So they make it pretty easy.
[00:21:52] But my experience with this is, well, it works.
[00:21:57] It's definitely geared toward little kids.
[00:21:58] So I can't complain it works.
[00:21:59] And it's, it looks visually kind of appealing sometimes.
[00:22:03] I mean, Elmo himself looks pretty good good like the scuba thing looks really interesting
[00:22:07] Yeah, I can't complain about the graphics. They're actually not too bad. Yeah, I think they could have done more
[00:22:12] That's my does my disappointment with it is that I think they could have made it either either it's more characters or whatever
[00:22:18] I think they could maybe maybe done more
[00:22:20] I know it's not not that easy
[00:22:21] And you don't want to like flood the screen with a bunch of stuff. If really you're supposed to be focusing on the letters and numbers. But I agree. I think that
[00:22:28] like the character models at least look look pretty decent. Like why not? I don't know.
[00:22:33] To get get some more lighting in there or something. I don't know. Whatever. But anyways.
[00:22:37] Yeah, they definitely could have done more. But yeah. So you play through a minigame
[00:22:46] So you play through a mini game and they're fine. You sound so excited.
[00:22:48] In the letter of venture, it's just walk.
[00:22:50] It's basically just move around, grab a letter.
[00:22:53] Yeah, you essentially will be in an environment, whether you're scuba diving,
[00:22:58] which you might be seeing on YouTube version of the show of the episode right now,
[00:23:01] or you're walking in a garden or somewhere
[00:23:06] else. I can't remember else.
[00:23:07] We're over this in space.
[00:23:09] Well, in space, right.
[00:23:11] So actually that's pretty cool.
[00:23:12] It actually does look kind of cool. Yeah, we'll get we'll we'll pop that up in a sec.
[00:23:16] But you are like just moving. There's no looking up, looking down. There's no vertical
[00:23:22] to the game whatsoever. It's just walk with
[00:23:25] the joystick and press one of the face buttons. Like you said, all you have to do is be in
[00:23:29] the vicinity of the letters, you press those buttons. And depending on what difficulty
[00:23:35] you play, you either collect, I think it's like five, seven or 10 letters. Yeah. Or some are, some are close to that. And you have less opportunity
[00:23:47] to fail and pick the wrong letter is really what the also the difficulty is. So this is
[00:23:52] easy, medium and hard. That's, that's it. That's really the difficulty for us. Yeah. Not such
[00:23:57] a big deal. I can understand why for kids, it's, it's a basic setup. So yeah, so, so
[00:24:03] just like piggybacking off of that
[00:24:05] I just felt like I needed to describe the gameplay before I gave what happened and how I experienced it
[00:24:10] Yep, but I went into this
[00:24:13] Immediate it will immediately I'm like well
[00:24:15] I'm gonna put this on hard because it's an educational game like whatever me to me to and I went in and I walked in the garden
[00:24:21] I was like will this ever end and I, it just kept going and it just took forever.
[00:24:27] And then I beat it and then it tells you to press one of the face,
[00:24:30] you have to wait for it to finish what it's saying.
[00:24:33] And it says press, if you want to play again,
[00:24:35] press one of the face buttons that are highlighted here
[00:24:38] and then it pops up the controller with the buttons, right?
[00:24:41] And then you wait a little bit and then it says,
[00:24:42] if you want to go back to Sesame Street,
[00:24:44] press the start button. So I did, I press the start button. By the way, I failed intentionally
[00:24:49] to see what would happen if I failed and Elmo, it just ends and you can just go back to Sesame Street.
[00:24:54] Oh, I see. Okay.
[00:24:57] But I did. I'm such a good scholar. I didn't fail.
[00:25:02] I went through and I did the first row on hard,
[00:25:05] like you see, so one, two, three, four, five, six, seven,
[00:25:08] eight, nine, 10, you gotta get 10 letters for each row.
[00:25:11] So essentially what happens is you play them in a game
[00:25:14] and then it gives you the option to play again.
[00:25:16] What it doesn't tell you is if you play again,
[00:25:18] you actually get a different stage with that character.
[00:25:21] So each character has two stages.
[00:25:23] I didn't know that.
[00:25:24] So I played one stage and like well
[00:25:26] I'm not gonna do that again
[00:25:27] And then I left and then I went and did another character to see what the difference was and they were all
[00:25:32] Similar but different grovers
[00:25:34] I think big birds in this particular one was the worst because it was just slow walking and then you kind of smack a number or smack a letter
[00:25:42] I mean, yeah
[00:25:44] Grover you you of smack a number or smack a letter. I mean, yeah, um, Grover, you,
[00:25:45] you get in a little Mars Rover and you're on, you're on the moon or something.
[00:25:50] Something like that. And that's what reminded me of Power Rangers for sure.
[00:25:54] Oh, that one. Okay. Okay.
[00:25:56] Yeah, because I was riding and I was like, wow, the environment kind of looks exactly like Power
[00:25:59] Rangers. Yeah. As the one where you sort of like walking around in like the space area.
[00:26:03] Yeah. And you're in a vehicle too. So it's's like oh man, it's like double whammy. Yeah, um and also for me the power Rangers reminder is that
[00:26:11] like
[00:26:13] Sadly, this is another knock against the power Rangers game is that this game is just as complicated if not more so
[00:26:21] Because in this game at least you have to press another button to survive some of those stages.
[00:26:26] In this game, or in Power Rangers, you could get through some of the levels without pressing any buttons in this.
[00:26:32] You at least have to press A or B to select something.
[00:26:35] Yeah. Yeah.
[00:26:37] And you could do. Yeah. Yeah. For sure. And it requires a little bit of thought.
[00:26:40] Yeah.
[00:26:41] Especially if you're of the age that is meant for. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:26:52] It's just so simple. So mad, but it's simple. It works. It works for what it does. And the second iteration of mini games tend to be better, I would say. Yeah. The second
[00:26:58] Rover one is like you're actually on a rocket like flying in space and it's all colorful.
[00:27:03] It's like Rainbow Road. That's exactly what I was like.
[00:27:06] This is rainbow road.
[00:27:07] I, it would be kind of cool if like it made you follow the path.
[00:27:11] You can actually just cut through everything.
[00:27:13] Um, cause essentially one of them is like usually a very narrow hallway sort of
[00:27:18] thing.
[00:27:18] So like the one that we're watching right now, which is the one on the moon with the
[00:27:21] rover, you just have walls around you and then letters in different areas left, right? Maybe it's just off to the side or something
[00:27:27] like that. But really, you have no control over the camera. It's always just behind you.
[00:27:32] So as long as you're looking in the general direction of where the letter is or number
[00:27:35] that you're looking for, you're going to find it. This one, honestly, the camera worked
[00:27:40] really well.
[00:27:41] It was totally fine. You could see everything at all times. It never, it was never caught on anything.
[00:27:46] Like the fact that it doesn't need to be controlled
[00:27:49] is actually totally fine.
[00:27:50] Cause it just adds to what you need to focus on
[00:27:52] if you're a kid of the stage that you need this for.
[00:27:55] Look for the letters, look for the numbers.
[00:27:56] That's it, right?
[00:27:57] You don't have to worry about these other things.
[00:27:59] It feels maybe a little bit disappointing as like an adult
[00:28:01] cause you're like, oh, I wish I could do more.
[00:28:03] But then I kept telling myself, well, this isn't meant for me. You know, and that's okay. And that's
[00:28:09] totally okay. So I think it succeeds in that, in that it actually just gets the job done, you know?
[00:28:16] Yeah, it gets the job done. It's it's it's a kid's game. It's an educational game. So I don't know
[00:28:21] what to expect out of it. But I will say there's one thing.
[00:28:26] Like, I was satisfied as far as like checking my boxes, like graphics are decent.
[00:28:31] Like look at this environment, this is a very interesting environment.
[00:28:34] I think if all the worlds had that level of care would look really cool.
[00:28:37] Yeah, this is the if anyone's not watching it's the space one that we're just talking
[00:28:41] about that reminds us a little bit of Rainbow Road.
[00:28:43] There's there's just describing there's Road. There's, there's just describing
[00:28:45] there's planets in the background,
[00:28:47] there's stars coming across the screen.
[00:28:50] The road, like I said, like we said,
[00:28:51] looks a little bit like Rainbow Road.
[00:28:53] You're driving a spaceship.
[00:28:54] It has like stuff flying out of the back of it and stuff.
[00:28:57] It's cool.
[00:28:58] That's cool.
[00:28:59] Yeah.
[00:28:59] And, and yeah, it's, it's checking, you know,
[00:29:04] quite a few boxes.
[00:29:05] I don't remember the music.
[00:29:07] It wasn't anything memorable,
[00:29:08] but it certainly wasn't bad when it was playing.
[00:29:10] Why don't we listen to it for just a second?
[00:29:12] Let's see.
[00:29:13] Because not all of it is Sesame Street music.
[00:29:15] Some of it is just sort of like stuff
[00:29:17] that was created for this.
[00:29:18] Or maybe it is recognizable.
[00:29:20] So yeah, let's see
[00:29:37] Yeah, when you finish it, it's good and it's got the voice acting which is cool
[00:29:43] Every character is voiced by the people that voice the characters in the show, which is great.
[00:29:45] That everyone was on board to do this.
[00:29:47] So technically this game is fully voice acted,
[00:29:49] which you can't say for a lot of games.
[00:29:52] The only thing about it, and it's only in
[00:29:55] letter adventure or letter journey, whatever it is.
[00:30:00] It's because they're the same,
[00:30:02] but one's about numbers and one's a journey
[00:30:04] and the other one's about letters and the other's adventure.
[00:30:06] I'm with you, man. I'm with you. I'm confused too. I guess.
[00:30:09] Sometimes I would say you go up to a character. You initially started on Sesame Street. You have to walk up to a character.
[00:30:16] And you stand in front of them. And then the dialogue just kind of starts.
[00:30:19] Yeah. When you're after you stand there for a couple seconds.
[00:30:22] What happened to me was the characters started moving and animated
[00:30:26] and were clearly saying something, but I heard nothing.
[00:30:30] Oh, interesting.
[00:30:30] And then Elmo would respond with what,
[00:30:34] like in response to what they said.
[00:30:35] So like for example, you go up to Ernie
[00:30:39] and then he's like, it's quiet.
[00:30:42] And then Elmo goes, see the carnival.
[00:30:47] Interesting. Okay. I didn't run. Okay, I didn't run into that. That's
[00:30:51] interesting. It only happened in letter in letter, whatever.
[00:30:55] Oh, in letter, whatever. Yeah. There's, oh, here. Okay. So that
[00:31:00] reminds us a note that I put in one of the the known, I guess
[00:31:04] it's it's probably a bug,
[00:31:06] I guess you could call it, is that in letter adventure, on Sesame Street, there's no music.
[00:31:14] It's just not in it, but on in number journey, it is in there. So. That could be part of it. Maybe it's a related bug in the, in the game of that.
[00:31:29] So like you go walk through Sesame Street, like you said, there's a little bit of background music in, in the number one, but in, on letter adventure, it's just not there.
[00:31:37] You just hear sound like street noise and some kids in the background and stuff like that, which also, I think it's a little nice little added feature.
[00:31:43] It's not just like dead air, you know?
[00:31:45] Like, even if there wasn't music,
[00:31:47] at least it got something that feels like you're actually,
[00:31:48] quote unquote, you know, in Sesame Street or on the street.
[00:31:51] Yeah. I think it's a nice little added touch.
[00:31:53] It's not necessary, but it's there.
[00:31:54] So, yeah, so that's interesting.
[00:31:57] I didn't run into any of that.
[00:31:58] Maybe it's related, I don't know,
[00:31:59] because it was in the same game.
[00:32:01] I don't know.
[00:32:02] Yeah, and then I think, yeah, I mean,
[00:32:05] the gameplay is the same pretty much across both,
[00:32:13] like you said.
[00:32:14] Like it's really just the same game.
[00:32:16] You just have numbers or letters,
[00:32:20] and that's kind of it.
[00:32:21] I would say though that I, yeah.
[00:32:25] Let me mention because they have two distinct bonus stages.
[00:32:30] Oh, yeah, that's right.
[00:32:31] Yes.
[00:32:31] That's a big difference.
[00:32:32] Um, and the in the letter one, it's, you have to like walk, you walk target to target
[00:32:41] looking for the letter for to complete the word.
[00:32:44] So like, for example, they show orc or K the letter to complete the word. So like for example, they show ork or k and they say complete the word and then you have
[00:32:49] to walk to the target that has an F on it.
[00:32:51] Yeah.
[00:32:52] And complete it.
[00:32:53] And then flip flop.
[00:32:56] I guess we just move over to number journey.
[00:32:58] Yeah.
[00:32:59] Yeah.
[00:33:00] Move over to number journey, which is the better one.
[00:33:03] It's so it's so it's so cool.
[00:33:05] Okay, this one, I definitely have to play the sound for because there's one particular sound
[00:33:09] bite that he has.
[00:33:11] I don't know if it's going to pop up here.
[00:33:12] So he threw.
[00:33:13] Okay, so let's describe what it is first and then I will find the sound.
[00:33:18] Okay.
[00:33:18] So what is it?
[00:33:19] The bonus game?
[00:33:20] Yeah, the bonus game for the number one.
[00:33:22] Yeah.
[00:33:23] So the bonus game for the number one. Yeah. So the bonus game for the
[00:33:25] number one is it basically it pops up a number and it says five and then or or math, I guess.
[00:33:34] And whatever. And it just says like throw a certain amount into the mouth of this thing.
[00:33:39] Yeah. And you just go to the basket and you throw our house, can say Mario Elmo throws baseballs into the mouth of this creature.
[00:33:48] Like a carnival game.
[00:33:49] Like a carnival.
[00:33:50] Yeah, it's a little carnival, but it's not it's you don't target.
[00:33:53] You don't anything.
[00:33:53] You just tap a.
[00:33:54] Yeah.
[00:33:55] And you can't like hold it or multi-tap.
[00:33:58] It's literally just like he throws one at a time.
[00:34:01] It's very slow.
[00:34:02] It's it's it's slow, but he has something to say in between, right?
[00:34:04] So and then when you're done, you ring the bell.
[00:34:06] You ring the bell.
[00:34:07] It does have something to say.
[00:34:08] So so that's what I wanted to play is like, let's see if he says it in this
[00:34:11] first section here. Hold on.
[00:34:13] Wow.
[00:34:15] To get a ball, go to the bucket and press one of the action buttons.
[00:34:20] Ring the bell when you have the right number.
[00:34:23] If you want to take back a ball, hunt the horn. Yeah, good tune tune right?
[00:34:27] Yeah good tune right?
[00:34:31] Then he throws the amount of balls but then he says something every time you throw it.
[00:34:34] Goooooo!
[00:34:36] Goooooo!
[00:34:37] Oh I'm returning that one for some reason I don't know why.
[00:34:40] You didn't know the mechanic yet.
[00:34:42] I didn't know yet.
[00:34:43] From down down!
[00:34:44] There it is from down down
[00:34:52] So anyways, I thought that was I thought that was charming I was like that's cool. That's you know
[00:34:57] It is it is it is it you know making or breaking this game at all no it's not
[00:35:03] But at least it's different at No. But at least it's different.
[00:35:05] At least, I mean, I guess it has to be different.
[00:35:07] But instead of putting the letter at the beginning,
[00:35:09] you're just doing three plus one, three plus one,
[00:35:11] throw four balls in, and then the number changes.
[00:35:14] And I think it depends on what difficulty you are.
[00:35:16] It made change, like what words you get,
[00:35:19] and then what number you have to add up to.
[00:35:21] I don't know for sure, but.
[00:35:23] So the reason why I was thrown off that yours had math.
[00:35:26] Mine did not because I played this on easy.
[00:35:30] OK, so I did I did medium for most of the playthrough of it.
[00:35:33] Yeah, I did hard initially in the letter one, but it just took forever.
[00:35:37] So I was like, I don't need to do this. I'm just going to do easy.
[00:35:39] So I did easy. So I just had a number. It just had four.
[00:35:43] And so I just had to throw four in and
[00:35:45] count to four. Okay. But so that's an interesting. That's why I was like, I don't remember doing
[00:35:49] math, but that's probably why. Yeah. Yeah. So mine was just like a simple addition.
[00:35:54] So now flipping the script. This is the best mini game in the game. The the two, the two
[00:36:02] cookie monster ones, both of them are the best ones. They are the best ones.
[00:36:05] So I wanted to point these out too because first Cookie Monster starts with you riding
[00:36:12] up a river of chocolate, which is hilarious.
[00:36:17] And also I'm wearing my conquer shirt.
[00:36:19] It's not poo though.
[00:36:20] It's not and conquer.
[00:36:22] It would cool if conquer showed up, But you're you're basically just instead
[00:36:26] of going down like just walking through the collaboration. I didn't know I wanted. Oh my
[00:36:30] God. Could you imagine? He like you pick you pick a number and Elmo's just like it smells
[00:36:36] like shit. It's sesame Street throw going down and then all of a sudden you whip out a couple AKs and eat lead motherbuzzer.
[00:36:47] I mean, let's do it.
[00:36:51] Yeah, I would play.
[00:36:52] Conquers just spoken to cigar with Oscar the grout.
[00:36:55] Yeah.
[00:36:56] If anyone's going to do it, it's going to be him, right?
[00:36:58] For sure.
[00:36:59] Yeah.
[00:37:00] Absolutely.
[00:37:01] Yeah.
[00:37:02] So this one is still so the first one we're on like a jet ski basically looked like one
[00:37:04] of the wave race
[00:37:06] vehicles And you're just going and collecting the numbers, but at least it looks kind of interesting. I think it looks kind of cool
[00:37:12] It's fast though like you move
[00:37:15] It's cool. You go over the little jumps and he does the little handstand. I totally did not expect
[00:37:21] any kind of movement or
[00:37:25] not expect any kind of movement or reaction or anything from Elmo. And then you go to the snow level and you're snowboarding.
[00:37:28] Any literally does like grabs and flips and stuff.
[00:37:32] Little tricks. Yeah. It's awesome.
[00:37:34] And you're not, you're not doing anything.
[00:37:36] You're, you're just still pressing forward.
[00:37:37] It's still basically doing the speed and everything for you.
[00:37:40] Like it does in the other levels, but like at least there's some sort of
[00:37:45] interaction sort of speak, I guess you could call it makes it more interesting.
[00:37:49] It was much more fun just for those reasons, I think.
[00:37:51] So I agree.
[00:37:52] These were the best ones.
[00:37:54] Yeah, they're fun.
[00:37:55] They're fast, they're, you know, simple and they work.
[00:37:57] Yeah.
[00:37:59] But the rest are basically just little walking things hit the target.
[00:38:02] I mean, that's that's it for the rest.
[00:38:09] But I will say that I did like the count in the number one too not the first one So he so he goes oh, let's go to my castle
[00:38:12] Do you want to go to my castle?
[00:38:14] And I'm like that sounds really creepy, but all right. I guess we will sure dude almost like three or four whatever he is
[00:38:21] He's he's he's a preschooler. He's little, right? And this creepy old man invited him to his castle,
[00:38:27] his dark castle.
[00:38:29] He's probably like 400 years old, not four years old.
[00:38:32] Yeah.
[00:38:33] And we go to his garden first.
[00:38:36] And at first I was like, this is not his castle.
[00:38:38] And I was legitimately mad.
[00:38:40] Because I wanted to see the castle.
[00:38:42] I was like, this is stupid.
[00:38:43] And he's like, this is my garden.
[00:38:46] And I'm like, I don't give a crap about your garden, man. I want to go see your castle. But then,
[00:38:51] you know, you beat that first, that first walking one and then he does take you to his castle.
[00:38:56] And I was totally right. It was more, it was way more interesting. It was visually interesting
[00:39:01] to walk around his castle. And I kind of want to go back because when I was collecting all the numbers,
[00:39:08] I started hearing these clanking noises, right?
[00:39:11] Oh, here. Let's see if it.
[00:39:14] You like hear these clanking noises.
[00:39:17] I got it.
[00:39:20] You hear the bats, but.
[00:39:24] You hear that?
[00:39:25] It's almost like a thundering noise. You hear the bats, but you hear that?
[00:39:27] It's almost like a thundering noise.
[00:39:29] Hi. Okay, so I started hearing that and then I turned a corner
[00:39:33] and then there was like a pathway that led me down
[00:39:37] and it turned and I got the last number on that pathway
[00:39:41] but I didn't get past it.
[00:39:43] So I wanted to know what was past it. I was like, you didn't get past it. So I wanted to know what was passed it. I was like,
[00:39:45] I didn't get past it either. I know exactly what you're talking about. What if we find the torture
[00:39:50] chamber? Do you ever see the, this is great for listeners? You got to look it up on YouTube.
[00:39:58] It's so funny. They took the couch when he's singing about numbers and he's like I like to count the bat son the wall, right?
[00:40:07] He's just singing they censor it every time he says what he's counting. Oh, so
[00:40:13] I like to count the
[00:40:16] On the wall
[00:40:20] In the hole and it's so funny. It just sounds suggestive. Yeah, all you have to do is put that beat in there. Yeah, it's so funny. It just sounds suggestive. Yeah.
[00:40:25] All you have to do is put that beat in there.
[00:40:26] Yeah.
[00:40:27] Yeah.
[00:40:28] It's so funny.
[00:40:29] So funny.
[00:40:30] But like there's, but that, so that's the thing is like there's glimpses of like, yeah,
[00:40:33] that music sounded pretty good to me.
[00:40:35] The background, you know, like you said, the crashing the lightning sort of thing, the
[00:40:38] bats, that's there.
[00:40:40] That's cool.
[00:40:41] You know, again, the focus isn't that in a game like this.
[00:40:44] It is get the kid from point A to point B pick the number that it gives you or the letter
[00:40:49] And that's what your focus is and at least there's some small touches, you know, I
[00:40:54] Think that like it's it's kind of strange how like when you're walking with Elmo like the way he is here that we're seeing
[00:41:00] He's not even really moving like his feet kind of just shuffle a little bit.
[00:41:06] Yeah.
[00:41:08] Yeah, Jiggy's doing a great dance.
[00:41:09] Please everybody, please watch.
[00:41:11] It's great.
[00:41:12] He's gonna do it again.
[00:41:19] It's and that's and that's all it is.
[00:41:21] Right.
[00:41:21] So it's weird how like that's how he walks.
[00:41:24] But then you put him on a snowboard
[00:41:25] and the guy's doing like, you know,
[00:41:28] these huge, these tricks where he's doing grabs,
[00:41:30] like toe grabs and tail grabs
[00:41:32] and he's spinning around doing a 360 and stuff.
[00:41:35] It's just, you know, it feels inconsistent,
[00:41:38] but I just kept telling myself like, whatever.
[00:41:41] Elmo professional snowboarder,
[00:41:43] but Elmo not professional walker.
[00:41:48] Elmo says.
[00:41:53] Yeah, it's look, I, yeah, I just kept telling myself like it's fine.
[00:41:57] It's a kids game.
[00:41:58] It doesn't need that depth or whatever, right?
[00:42:01] So ultimately, you know, does anyone need to play this game? If're older? No, I don't stop stop stop. Yes. Yes. Okay. Okay. And you play like 15, 20 minutes of these games.
[00:42:28] A, you're going to beat it, but you'll be laughing so hard.
[00:42:32] It's just so silly.
[00:42:33] I'm with you.
[00:42:34] There's there's something there.
[00:42:35] You can have silly, quick fun with this.
[00:42:38] Like that's the other thing I was going to say is like,
[00:42:40] even whether you should play this game
[00:42:43] or whether you should experience these games or whatever,
[00:42:45] however you do it, it's like one of the games.
[00:42:49] I think the letter one is even shorter.
[00:42:51] I think it takes 20 minutes, half an hour,
[00:42:54] the other one, half an hour, 40 minutes.
[00:42:55] Like in an hour, you can get through both of these
[00:42:58] if you don't play on hard.
[00:43:00] Just don't play on hard because it's not necessary
[00:43:04] because like you said earlier, it just takes longer
[00:43:08] That's really all it is and then the mini game at the end for the letter one at least
[00:43:12] It's just a different word like a longer word, but you're still just picking one letter
[00:43:18] It's not a huge difference and it's not gonna take a lot of your time
[00:43:21] So it's okay that it exists, you know, I think it's good that things like this are out there for kids.
[00:43:27] I didn't know this existed.
[00:43:28] So I was like, you know what?
[00:43:29] This is nice.
[00:43:29] At least this is here.
[00:43:31] Um, yeah, it's cool for kids.
[00:43:34] It's, it's cool for kids.
[00:43:34] That's the verdict.
[00:43:35] That's, that's, and all I have to say is it, it does make me want a 3D
[00:43:40] platformer fully going through Sesame Street.
[00:43:43] That would be sick.
[00:43:47] A hopping over the, the buildings and stuff. Yeah, it's so much fun, right?
[00:43:49] Yeah.
[00:43:50] And you could have worlds like this where he's going in.
[00:43:53] Yeah.
[00:43:54] And yeah, it just seems really cool.
[00:43:55] Yeah, there's ideas here.
[00:43:56] There's different environments.
[00:43:57] It's nothing fancy, but that's OK.
[00:43:59] It doesn't have to be.
[00:44:01] And yeah, Elmo's letter adventure and number journey. I think I got
[00:44:07] this right. Sure. That is the one that or the exact opposite or the exact top either way
[00:44:12] you'll find it. These two back to back games if you don't have a ROM of them or way to
[00:44:18] play them that way, you can find it for pretty cheap because they're just kids games and stuff.
[00:44:22] But you know, hey, having these things on hand
[00:44:26] when you have a kid that is, I don't know,
[00:44:28] four years old that's picking up, five years old,
[00:44:30] however, whenever you're comfortable with them
[00:44:32] playing video games for the first time,
[00:44:34] this is a great starter.
[00:44:35] I think this is a really good, you know,
[00:44:37] they're learning their letters and numbers
[00:44:38] in early school.
[00:44:40] Why not?
[00:44:41] Why not let them just press forward
[00:44:43] and backwards on the joystick. Press one button.
[00:44:46] They can get through it. You can sit with them if you have to. Like, you know, if they need some help and stuff, but
[00:44:51] nothing wrong with that. You know, I think that's pretty good. So
[00:44:54] that's about it. I don't know if we score this these games. I don't know if there's like a way to score them because they're not
[00:45:00] really those types of games, but well, well, I guess we can, we can score them on a scale of
[00:45:09] edutainment. Yeah, an edutainment scale. That's an edutainment scale. And we're going to make the
[00:45:15] scale up to the letter D. Okay, but it starts at three. So wait, oh, it starts at three, but ends at D.
[00:45:25] Is that what we're taking a number journey into a letter
[00:45:29] adventure? Yes. Okay. All right. Um, then I would. So it scores an
[00:45:34] X three for me.
[00:45:39] All right. I'm going to give it a, um it a W7.
[00:45:46] That's high.
[00:45:46] I don't know, is that high?
[00:45:47] I have no idea.
[00:45:48] Well, that's so high.
[00:45:49] Is it?
[00:45:50] I don't know, it's a low.
[00:45:51] It's a low.
[00:45:52] It's a low letter.
[00:45:53] So I don't know.
[00:45:56] It's impromptu scale.
[00:45:57] I don't know how this shit works anymore.
[00:46:01] I like it though.
[00:46:02] I like it.
[00:46:02] A little in universe, a radiant scale. I like it.
[00:46:06] Exactly. Oh my god.
[00:46:09] It can't count. Yeah. Well, we can now we played this game. We can now. Okay.
[00:46:15] So three numbers. Yeah.
[00:46:17] That's all you ever collect. Yeah. That's true.
[00:46:19] Yeah. You know, how to differentiate the number three from everything else,
[00:46:23] but you don't know what everything else is.
[00:46:25] Although if you do go back into the stages, they'll give you a different letter and a
[00:46:29] different number.
[00:46:30] It's not always exactly the same, but that's funny.
[00:46:32] That was not my experience.
[00:46:33] Oh, really?
[00:46:34] It was for me.
[00:46:35] Oh, interesting.
[00:46:36] Yeah, I got it was letter F for Big Bird.
[00:46:37] I left came back.
[00:46:39] It was still letter F. Oh, okay.
[00:46:42] Did you finish the stage though?
[00:46:43] Or did you like did you get all the letters before
[00:46:45] you exited? I think I think I failed it first. Okay. And then I left and then I came back.
[00:46:52] Yeah. So that's why. So maybe that's why. Yeah. So one time what I did was I didn't collect the
[00:46:56] last one and the level like ended for some reason. I don't remember why. And then I went back in.
[00:47:00] There's and there's like endings to each like pathway. Yeah, if you get too far.
[00:47:05] Yeah, I think that it'll just end.
[00:47:07] That's what happened with account one
[00:47:08] when you go down those like stairs.
[00:47:10] You go to the end, if you didn't catch them all,
[00:47:12] then you have to go back.
[00:47:13] That's what it is.
[00:47:14] Oh. Yeah, that's what I did.
[00:47:15] So that's what happened with me with that one
[00:47:17] is I had the number five, I went into that,
[00:47:20] I must have missed one or whatever.
[00:47:22] And then I went and talked to him again
[00:47:24] and went back in and it was the same number
[00:47:25] And then I tried it on a different difficulty and maybe that's part of it too
[00:47:30] I went on like the easy difficulty of the hard one and it was a different number even though the stages
[00:47:34] Yeah, so I like to believe though that that room it doesn't end it ends because you're not supposed to see it
[00:47:40] But yes, it goes past right and then he does have a torture chamber
[00:47:44] Of course and then every character that you don't see in this game from Sesame Street is in that torture chamber being tortured and there you go
[00:47:50] That's how I will end that's not falafagus is down there 100% like where else would he be if he's not with big bird
[00:47:56] They're besties like their besties where else would he be so it is what it is. You know, hey, it's just the reality
[00:48:02] We're just we're just doing our part investigating and bringing kids games to the forefront. So that's all good
[00:48:08] We're doing the hard work. We did the homework like I said, so
[00:48:11] All right, so that'll do it for these games
[00:48:15] It's good quick educational stuff for kids and that's pretty much the gist of it, but
[00:48:20] Jiggy where can everybody sort of keep track of all the awesome stuff? Because you got some pretty damn great videos in the last few weeks and honestly few months.
[00:48:31] Thank you.
[00:48:31] Thank you.
[00:48:32] Thank you.
[00:48:33] Yep, YouTube, Jiggy, back all one word YouTube.
[00:48:38] You'll find me Jigga look back.
[00:48:40] Lots of good stuff, lots of stuff around rare Donkey Kong.
[00:48:44] Check it out, everybody. It's it's it's popping off, honestly of stuff around Rare, Donkey Kong. Check it out everybody.
[00:48:45] It's popping off, honestly. With or without this show, that stuff is popping off and it's
[00:48:50] great. So really, really good stuff. Remember, 64 across the board on YouTube. Remember,
[00:48:56] 64 show on all of the social media apps. I'm not going to name them all because they all
[00:49:03] seem to change names and it's honestly
[00:49:05] a pain in the ass.
[00:49:06] So although that description took just as long as mentioning all of them.
[00:49:08] So maybe I'll revise that next time.
[00:49:11] And then of course, patreon.com slash remember 64 show you can find all of the episodes early,
[00:49:17] some extra content and also going to be adding some free stuff as well, some videos and some
[00:49:22] write ups about games that I've been playing that are not N64 related, maybe some gaming news that I've been reading
[00:49:28] and writing about all that kind of stuff. I'm just going to sort of start bolstering a
[00:49:32] little bit more on Patreon. It's going to kind of be like a one stop shop kind of thing.
[00:49:36] So the pre show chats were were pretty good. I got into the Patreon and I was a little
[00:49:43] vein. I was listening to myself because he told me
[00:49:46] about the pre-show chats.
[00:49:48] No, he did not tell me about the pre-show chats.
[00:49:51] I found out there.
[00:49:52] I did the previous time, but not that time.
[00:49:53] Yeah, I forgot to.
[00:49:54] Yes.
[00:49:55] And so I was like, wait, a pre-show chat.
[00:49:58] And I was like, this is me.
[00:50:00] And I was like, what did I say?
[00:50:02] And so I went back and like was listening.
[00:50:04] It was just, it was great.
[00:50:05] It actually was awesome.
[00:50:07] We talked about the one we talked about,
[00:50:09] the Nintendo power with the Donkey Kong 64.
[00:50:13] Weird cover.
[00:50:14] Yeah, weird cover.
[00:50:15] That was like a misprint or something.
[00:50:17] Yeah, something.
[00:50:18] Couldn't figure out what it was.
[00:50:19] It was really cool.
[00:50:20] I talked a little bit about me playing Baldur's Gate 3,
[00:50:23] which is pretty funny with my friends.
[00:50:25] How tall the Donkey Kong crew is or shorts they are.
[00:50:28] How tall the DK crew is.
[00:50:31] Yeah, that was pretty enlightening.
[00:50:32] It's pretty cool.
[00:50:34] But yeah, that pre-show chat was totally fun.
[00:50:37] Yeah.
[00:50:38] And that stuff's available at the lowest tier
[00:50:41] for Patreon stuff.
[00:50:41] So that's stuff we're gonna keep doing.
[00:50:43] And keep doing, keep bolstering stuff on there. It's gonna be free and Patreon Patreon stuff. So that's up. We're going to keep doing and keep keep doing keep
[00:50:45] Bolster and stuff on there. It's going to be free and and Patreon paid stuff. So a mix of everything
[00:50:50] going to be a good spot to kind of find a bunch of stuff. So yeah, and you just like a dollar down.
[00:50:55] Is that the minimum? Yeah, like you just have a dollar down. You pay a dollar a month. It helps
[00:50:58] support the show. It helps support Dave. We can, you know, do cool stuff, raise production value, get other guests on like, just go support.
[00:51:08] It just shows support.
[00:51:09] And hey, even if you don't want to do that, that's cool.
[00:51:12] But share it.
