[01:34:34] See Ya!
[00:00:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Step into video game land, welcome to Fine Time!
[00:00:34] [SPEAKER_00]: the video game known as Fine Time 64
[00:00:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah
[00:00:41] [SPEAKER_00]: The Kool-Aid Man? Did you just get done playing Kool-Aid Man 64?
[00:00:46] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, I thought I was being clever with trying to do a Pylowings guy voice
[00:00:51] [SPEAKER_01]: but I should just go, let's go or something.
[00:00:56] [SPEAKER_00]: That's not better.
[00:00:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's just kinda there.
[00:01:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Well you shouldn't, okay if you were going for, first of all how dare you whatever me.
[00:01:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Secondly, if you were going for Pylowings 64 you should have done the one voice everybody knows
[00:01:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah
[00:01:15] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean that's what everyone remembers.
[00:01:18] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean maybe that's what I remember because I was 14.
[00:01:21] [SPEAKER_01]: You definitely remember that because you were 14.
[00:01:24] [SPEAKER_00]: What does Nestor even sound like anyway? I don't even remember.
[00:01:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Yahoo!
[00:01:33] [SPEAKER_00]: That's it.
[00:01:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, well shall we talk a video game we got a lot to get to today.
[00:01:38] [SPEAKER_00]: We got three, what two and a half presentations to get through.
[00:01:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Something, they just sorta happened didn't they?
[00:01:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Nintendo Direct sort of happened, they sort of pasted the indie world in the...
[00:01:50] [SPEAKER_00]: By the way, before we get into the games we've been playing, can we talk about that real quick?
[00:01:55] [SPEAKER_00]: It's kinda weird that they pasted an indie world in a partner direct.
[00:01:59] [SPEAKER_00]: I get they were both short, but even though they were it seems like the kind of thing they would usually space out.
[00:02:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Like here we're gonna do this this month and then next month this partner direct.
[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_00]: I guess they couldn't do that because some of the stuff that's in there.
[00:02:11] [SPEAKER_00]: But it's weird that they made this one on the spiritual sexual level.
[00:02:15] [SPEAKER_01]: I guess a bunch of those things were dropping imminently so it was just better to do it.
[00:02:20] [SPEAKER_00]: I guess so yeah. The timing worked out for the games at hand.
[00:02:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Some of these things are out already.
[00:02:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Sure are.
[00:02:28] [SPEAKER_00]: And we will be talking about maybe a couple of them, at least one, at least I will.
[00:02:34] [SPEAKER_00]: But before we do that, let's talk about what we've been playing recently.
[00:02:38] [SPEAKER_00]: And I want to talk about the recent re-re-re-re-re-re releases of Doom and Doom 2.
[00:02:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Never heard of them.
[00:02:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Never heard of those games?
[00:02:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, in the 19... excuse me, in the late 1900s, we should probably call it.
[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_00]: There was a first person shooter that set the world on fire and made senators and parents mad at video game violence.
[00:03:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I know that one.
[00:03:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Wolfenstein 3D.
[00:03:06] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, kinda, but it wasn't really that popular.
[00:03:09] [SPEAKER_00]: You had to get to a little thing called Doom and it's sequel Doom 2 and it's many sequels after that.
[00:03:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, in 2019, Bethesda put out a version of Doom and Doom 2 on modern platforms.
[00:03:23] [SPEAKER_00]: I think pretty much everybody has those at this point.
[00:03:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Yup.
[00:03:27] [SPEAKER_00]: And these versions are really good.
[00:03:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Pretty celebrated, right?
[00:03:31] [SPEAKER_00]: But there's always room for improvement.
[00:03:33] [SPEAKER_00]: And so enter the new master of porting stuff, Nightdive Studios.
[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Because who you're going to go to besides them, right?
[00:03:42] [SPEAKER_00]: They worked in conjunction with id Software to present this new 2024 version that was basically shadow dropped a few weeks ago.
[00:03:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Nobody knew it was happening until it happened.
[00:03:52] [SPEAKER_00]: At least I didn't hear about it.
[00:03:54] [SPEAKER_01]: I think it was just during QuakeCon or whatever that was.
[00:03:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, that's right.
[00:03:59] [SPEAKER_00]: They...
[00:04:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that makes sense.
[00:04:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Um, I didn't even think about that.
[00:04:04] [SPEAKER_00]: The fact that that was going on.
[00:04:06] [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I think most people out there asking themselves, how many fucking times are they going to
[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_00]: do this?
[00:04:12] [SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, I get it on the surface.
[00:04:14] [SPEAKER_00]: It might seem frivolous, but it's not frivolous.
[00:04:17] [SPEAKER_00]: So let me tell you why these new versions of Doom and Doom 2 are worth looking at.
[00:04:24] [SPEAKER_00]: And the first reason is if you bought either of the previous 2019 versions of Doom or Doom 2, you were grandfathered into this new version on the platform that you bought it on.
[00:04:35] [SPEAKER_00]: So it's very likely this will cost you zero dollars.
[00:04:38] [SPEAKER_00]: On Steam, I'm also grandfathered into it because the very first thing I ever bought on Steam, this would be like early 2009.
[00:04:46] [SPEAKER_00]: I bought an id software pack and everything.
[00:04:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Doom, Wolfenstein, Commander Keen.
[00:04:52] [SPEAKER_00]: What?
[00:04:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Even like the Heretics and Hexens and everything, right?
[00:04:56] [SPEAKER_00]: I have all that shit.
[00:04:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I was grandfathered into Doom and Doom 2 2019 because I had that shit.
[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_00]: And now I am grandfather grandfathered in to this new one.
[00:05:06] [SPEAKER_00]: So I've been twice grandfathered.
[00:05:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Is that a term?
[00:05:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Why not?
[00:05:11] [SPEAKER_01]: I was just pleasantly surprised to find out that even on Switch, I was like, Hey, free download.
[00:05:15] [SPEAKER_01]: I could just get rid of my Doom 1 and 2 things and just have the one thing there.
[00:05:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:05:21] [SPEAKER_00]: That's another thing about it.
[00:05:23] [SPEAKER_00]: They have become one on the spiritual sexual level, Doom and Doom 2.
[00:05:26] [SPEAKER_00]: It is, I can't believe I said that already twice in five minutes on this show, the spiritual sexual level.
[00:05:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
[00:05:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Get new material, Dre.
[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Jesus Christ.
[00:05:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Um, yeah, the, they are no longer two separate skews.
[00:05:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Doom and Doom 2.
[00:05:40] [SPEAKER_00]: It is now just all Doom.
[00:05:42] [SPEAKER_00]: The, the, the new version is called Doom and Doom 2, but everything is fucking here.
[00:05:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Everything.
[00:05:50] [SPEAKER_00]: The master levels, the for Doom 2 final Doom, the two things from that, the new campaign
[00:05:58] [SPEAKER_00]: they made for the Xbox 360 re-release of Doom.
[00:06:02] [SPEAKER_00]: They made like a new campaign with nine levels.
[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_00]: That's on here.
[00:06:05] [SPEAKER_00]: I can't remember what it's called, but that's here.
[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Like so much stuff is here.
[00:06:09] [SPEAKER_00]: There's the brand new one also made by Nightdive studios.
[00:06:14] [SPEAKER_00]: There's also a new miniature campaign, which I'll get to a little bit later
[00:06:17] [SPEAKER_00]: because it's really cool, but everything is here in the parlance of Smash Brothers
[00:06:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Ultimate and it's great.
[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_00]: So it's not just strictly Doom and Doom 2.
[00:06:27] [SPEAKER_00]: All the stuff you associate with that engine that's Doom is here.
[00:06:31] [SPEAKER_00]: And if you look, if you don't already have these, it's $10.
[00:06:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Come on.
[00:06:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Like for what you're getting here, that's nothing.
[00:06:38] [SPEAKER_00]: And because of that cheap price, I double dipped on PS5.
[00:06:42] [SPEAKER_00]: I had the originals, the 2019 ones on Switch and I could have played them there
[00:06:47] [SPEAKER_00]: on or on Steam Deck as I just mentioned, but I went for PS5 for one reason
[00:06:52] [SPEAKER_00]: and one reason only that's right.
[00:06:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Frame rate, baby.
[00:06:57] [SPEAKER_00]: You can play Doom now at 120 frames a second on PS5.
[00:07:02] [SPEAKER_00]: I never knew I wanted super high frame rate Doom, but here it is.
[00:07:07] [SPEAKER_00]: And God damn Steve.
[00:07:09] [SPEAKER_00]: It's great.
[00:07:10] [SPEAKER_00]: And look, I know what you're thinking.
[00:07:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Really?
[00:07:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Andre, you're geeking out about the frame rate of Doom.
[00:07:15] [SPEAKER_00]: And the answer is yes, Steve.
[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_00]: I am.
[00:07:17] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm having an argument with you without you talking right now.
[00:07:20] [SPEAKER_01]: I was going to say once you stop putting it on consoles, I would say
[00:07:24] [SPEAKER_01]: the frame rate is going to be where it needs to be on Doom.
[00:07:27] [SPEAKER_01]: What do you mean?
[00:07:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Like, no, I mean the baby consoles.
[00:07:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Like once you stop taking around and putting it on Super Nintendo and 32X,
[00:07:34] [SPEAKER_01]: a whole shit like that.
[00:07:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Right?
[00:07:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:07:36] [SPEAKER_01]: The frame rate is going to be where it needs to be.
[00:07:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:07:39] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, like PlayStation Doom was what I kind of grew up with
[00:07:43] [SPEAKER_00]: and that ran in the twenties ish.
[00:07:45] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it was, it was good enough.
[00:07:48] [SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't the slideshow of SNES.
[00:07:50] [SPEAKER_00]: I think, you know, I think SNES gets a little, gets a little
[00:07:53] [SPEAKER_00]: bit too bad of a rap.
[00:07:55] [SPEAKER_00]: I think it's not great, but it's not terrible.
[00:07:59] [SPEAKER_00]: I've played it.
[00:08:00] [SPEAKER_00]: It's, it's playable.
[00:08:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
[00:08:03] [SPEAKER_01]: But if they came on with, uh, you know, the Nintendo switch online thing
[00:08:07] [SPEAKER_01]: and there's a, did Super Nintendo Doom is here to play, would
[00:08:11] [SPEAKER_01]: you play it again on there?
[00:08:12] [SPEAKER_00]: I would peak.
[00:08:14] [SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't give it a whole run, but I would definitely
[00:08:16] [SPEAKER_00]: all peak.
[00:08:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:08:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Did you play GBA Doom?
[00:08:20] [SPEAKER_00]: That one's really good.
[00:08:21] [SPEAKER_01]: No, it is.
[00:08:22] [SPEAKER_01]: I I've seen it.
[00:08:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, I gave it five seconds at a, again, play and trade.
[00:08:27] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to keep bringing up that store forever, but, uh, I didn't buy it.
[00:08:31] [SPEAKER_01]: I, it was, I was deeply in the DSI land by then.
[00:08:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah.
[00:08:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, the only shitty part about it is that it's rated teen because Game
[00:08:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Boy advanced, so they kind of cut it up a little bit, but it's,
[00:08:45] [SPEAKER_00]: it's still do my guess anyway.
[00:08:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, dude.
[00:08:49] [SPEAKER_00]: High frame rate doom.
[00:08:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Excellent stuff.
[00:08:52] [SPEAKER_00]: The response time, all the stuff that comes with it is just really good.
[00:08:56] [SPEAKER_00]: And, um, there's a sick part of me.
[00:08:58] [SPEAKER_00]: I just mentioned that I grew up on like PlayStation doom and playing doom on
[00:09:03] [SPEAKER_00]: console in general, where you had to strafe with the shoulder buttons.
[00:09:07] [SPEAKER_00]: And I kind of still wish you could do that.
[00:09:10] [SPEAKER_00]: That's still my muscle memory for holding especially a PlayStation controller.
[00:09:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Right.
[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_00]: And you can't really do that in this one.
[00:09:17] [SPEAKER_00]: You have to use the right stick, which is fine.
[00:09:20] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't expect them to cater to my very specific ass at the same time.
[00:09:24] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm surprised that there's not a S like a solution to be able to do that.
[00:09:29] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, cause I feel like the doom 64 port lets you do that still.
[00:09:34] [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't play the port yet.
[00:09:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Really?
[00:09:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Of doom 64.
[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_00]: I have it.
[00:09:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Did you play it back in the day?
[00:09:41] [SPEAKER_01]: I either rented it or played it somewhere else.
[00:09:43] [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't have it.
[00:09:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, doom 64 is the best do hands down.
[00:09:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Sorry.
[00:09:47] [SPEAKER_00]: I've always felt that way.
[00:09:48] [SPEAKER_00]: No doubt.
[00:09:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Um, anyway, the other major feature of this game is that you can download
[00:09:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Watts or in other words, fan created doom level packs.
[00:09:59] [SPEAKER_00]: And for those who don't know the file system in doom, it's literally dot W a D.
[00:10:05] [SPEAKER_00]: So everyone just calls it a wad when you, when you make a level pack.
[00:10:10] [SPEAKER_00]: And I think everyone knows like that's been the backbone of doom this entire
[00:10:15] [SPEAKER_00]: time, people making their own levels.
[00:10:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Cause I think what in 90 after final doom, right?
[00:10:20] [SPEAKER_00]: I think in like 97 John Romero just released a source code.
[00:10:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Of doom.
[00:10:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Like everyone have fun.
[00:10:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Some of those would end up even getting, you know, unofficial very
[00:10:31] [SPEAKER_01]: weird commercial releases, like very fake, but all the elements that needed
[00:10:36] [SPEAKER_01]: to be there, like you'd stick a devil on the bus like here's more levels for
[00:10:40] [SPEAKER_01]: doom.
[00:10:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:10:42] [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like, but I feel like that's why they made final doom too.
[00:10:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Cause I feel like a lot of those were like fan created levels and they
[00:10:49] [SPEAKER_00]: just kind of put them out commercially.
[00:10:51] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think a lot of those are made by being, I'm sure some of them
[00:10:54] [SPEAKER_00]: are made by id software or whoever else, but like, yeah, that's, that's
[00:10:58] [SPEAKER_00]: kind of been a thing.
[00:10:59] [SPEAKER_00]: They've always embraced that.
[00:11:00] [SPEAKER_00]: And I love that about doom.
[00:11:01] [SPEAKER_00]: And now they're finally embracing it in one of their versions of doom.
[00:11:05] [SPEAKER_00]: The only caveat is right now it's kind of shitty to go through because
[00:11:10] [SPEAKER_00]: you can't really search for stuff.
[00:11:12] [SPEAKER_00]: That's like a big deal.
[00:11:13] [SPEAKER_00]: If you know like a certain name of a wad, you can't search for it.
[00:11:17] [SPEAKER_00]: You kind of just have to look on the big page and hope you find it.
[00:11:20] [SPEAKER_00]: And Steve, there's a lot of offensive weird stuff on there that is not
[00:11:26] [SPEAKER_00]: moderated.
[00:11:27] [SPEAKER_01]: So it's like weird offensive stuff and content creation by the community.
[00:11:31] [SPEAKER_01]: I've never heard of such a thing.
[00:11:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Never happened.
[00:11:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I can't even man this.
[00:11:36] [SPEAKER_00]: That's a lot of stuff on there right now.
[00:11:38] [SPEAKER_00]: So once they get that together though, I think it'll be fine.
[00:11:41] [SPEAKER_00]: And I think I've downloaded a couple things.
[00:11:43] [SPEAKER_00]: It works.
[00:11:45] [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, it's that's a really, really good feature to have in here.
[00:11:50] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's funny.
[00:11:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Doom 2016 tried to do like the level creator thing and it just never took.
[00:11:58] [SPEAKER_00]: It's not in doom eternal.
[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Like they just kind of forgot about it because everyone else did.
[00:12:02] [SPEAKER_00]: And rightfully so I think my point is a bring that up is that doom has
[00:12:08] [SPEAKER_00]: always embraced the creator side of it, whether it's beneficial or
[00:12:11] [SPEAKER_00]: unofficial, and I'm glad they're doing it officially here.
[00:12:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Look, if it's not clear by now, I'm not going to really talk about
[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_00]: the actual games here because honestly, what is there to say about doom?
[00:12:21] [SPEAKER_00]: What do you, what do you really want me to say?
[00:12:24] [SPEAKER_01]: I do.
[00:12:24] [SPEAKER_01]: It was released in 1993 for MS-DOS.
[00:12:28] [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like I already did that upfront facetiously, but I have come away with
[00:12:34] [SPEAKER_00]: a few thoughts here though of just replaying through all of doom and
[00:12:37] [SPEAKER_00]: most of doom too so far thy flesh consumed to the last, the one chapter
[00:12:43] [SPEAKER_00]: that they added onto the original doom.
[00:12:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Isn't really that fun.
[00:12:47] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, like it's, it's not terrible, but it's definitely not as good as
[00:12:52] [SPEAKER_00]: like the original three doom chapters.
[00:12:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Do you agree with that?
[00:12:57] [SPEAKER_01]: I played that last Christmas because I was, that's just what I was
[00:13:02] [SPEAKER_01]: playing around that time.
[00:13:03] [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, you know, I'm finally going to play these, these
[00:13:06] [SPEAKER_01]: updated versions, not knowing this one was coming and like,
[00:13:09] [SPEAKER_01]: this doesn't that great.
[00:13:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:13:13] [SPEAKER_00]: It's weirdly not that good.
[00:13:15] [SPEAKER_00]: It's again, it's not terrible.
[00:13:16] [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't have a problem playing through it, but it's also like, I don't know.
[00:13:19] [SPEAKER_00]: They tried to out think the room too much.
[00:13:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, we need to, we can't do our standard doom levels anymore.
[00:13:24] [SPEAKER_00]: We need to do these like, you know, and it's like, nah,
[00:13:27] [SPEAKER_00]: you could have just made doom.
[00:13:29] [SPEAKER_00]: It's fine.
[00:13:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Um, also it must've been either an astronomical amount of time since
[00:13:36] [SPEAKER_00]: the last time I played doom two or I'm just having a really bad memory
[00:13:40] [SPEAKER_00]: or both because I really don't remember a lot of these levels.
[00:13:45] [SPEAKER_00]: I do not, but I bet a large part of this is again, what I said earlier, I'm
[00:13:50] [SPEAKER_00]: mostly familiar with the PlayStation version of doom.
[00:13:54] [SPEAKER_00]: And if you don't know, you never played doom on PlayStation, right?
[00:13:58] [SPEAKER_01]: No, but didn't they split some of the levels in half?
[00:14:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Sort of.
[00:14:02] [SPEAKER_00]: So like what doom on PlayStation is, is an agglomation of doom
[00:14:05] [SPEAKER_00]: and doom two levels all in one go.
[00:14:08] [SPEAKER_00]: It's not episodes anymore.
[00:14:09] [SPEAKER_00]: It's just one big, I don't know, 35 level gauntlet or something, but they
[00:14:15] [SPEAKER_00]: also have like original levels from the Jaguar version and there as well.
[00:14:21] [SPEAKER_00]: And like other stuff.
[00:14:22] [SPEAKER_00]: So it's like, it's a really weird mishmash of levels and it's cool.
[00:14:27] [SPEAKER_00]: It's, it's a lot of fun to play, but it's not very doom or doom too.
[00:14:32] [SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's what's going on in my head.
[00:14:34] [SPEAKER_00]: It's like, I don't recognize, I think a lot of the levels I
[00:14:37] [SPEAKER_00]: remember are probably like Jaguar originals that have been ported around,
[00:14:41] [SPEAKER_00]: which is fine, but like it also makes me just a filthy console casual on this
[00:14:46] [SPEAKER_00]: one or being like, I don't really remember this stuff.
[00:14:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:14:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Cause like after we got past like level five and doom two, I was
[00:14:53] [SPEAKER_00]: like, I don't know what's going on here.
[00:14:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Plus what you said, some of the levels have been drastically altered
[00:15:00] [SPEAKER_00]: and changed around because PlayStation Ram is what it is.
[00:15:04] [SPEAKER_00]: So you only fit so much.
[00:15:07] [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, anyway, as I mentioned a little bit ago, there's also a brand
[00:15:11] [SPEAKER_00]: new campaign made by nightdives themselves.
[00:15:14] [SPEAKER_00]: And I absolutely want to talk about this a little bit.
[00:15:16] [SPEAKER_00]: I haven't gotten a chance to play all the way through it.
[00:15:18] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know how many levels are.
[00:15:19] [SPEAKER_00]: I think there's like nine or 10, but it's really cool and it's built off
[00:15:24] [SPEAKER_00]: the bones of the old stuff while making new things, there's like some new enemies.
[00:15:32] [SPEAKER_00]: There's like these, um, like the lost souls, but they have like
[00:15:35] [SPEAKER_00]: mechanical face over them and they can like shoot a little bit of plasma at you.
[00:15:40] [SPEAKER_00]: The plasma taken from surely like a spider demon or something like that.
[00:15:45] [SPEAKER_00]: It's really cool how they like kind of did like little asset
[00:15:48] [SPEAKER_00]: flips to make some new stuff.
[00:15:50] [SPEAKER_00]: There's like some new weapons.
[00:15:52] [SPEAKER_00]: There's like a flame thrower, which is kind of rad.
[00:15:56] [SPEAKER_00]: It's cool stuff.
[00:15:57] [SPEAKER_00]: And there's original music for it, not just using music from doom or doom
[00:16:01] [SPEAKER_00]: two, and everyone knows I do not like the music in doom.
[00:16:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Sorry.
[00:16:05] [SPEAKER_00]: I never have, I never will, but
[00:16:08] [SPEAKER_01]: see, that's what makes you the blasphemer.
[00:16:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that, that is what makes me the blasphemer.
[00:16:13] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't like it in anything.
[00:16:14] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't like it in doom 2016.
[00:16:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Either more than being a casual console person, you're saying, you know
[00:16:21] [SPEAKER_01]: what, I don't like the music in doom.
[00:16:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Really don't.
[00:16:25] [SPEAKER_00]: I just, sorry.
[00:16:27] [SPEAKER_00]: I just never, it's inappropriate.
[00:16:29] [SPEAKER_00]: It's jangly and it sounds like the Pesh mode B sides or something
[00:16:34] [SPEAKER_00]: while I'm like doing this, like I'm, I'm in hell or on a Mars space
[00:16:39] [SPEAKER_00]: station and shooting demons.
[00:16:40] [SPEAKER_00]: It's like inappropriately jangly.
[00:16:43] [SPEAKER_00]: I've always thought that I get it.
[00:16:45] [SPEAKER_00]: That's like what MS DOS MIDI sounded like at the time, but whatever, man,
[00:16:50] [SPEAKER_00]: I just not for me, however, there is a new soundtrack.
[00:16:54] [SPEAKER_00]: There's a guy out there who did like, I don't know, a lot of the doom
[00:16:58] [SPEAKER_00]: stuff and back in the day, I guess, like some sort of fan project.
[00:17:01] [SPEAKER_00]: And for this, he did the entirety of doom too, as well.
[00:17:05] [SPEAKER_00]: So you can play with a new soundtrack.
[00:17:07] [SPEAKER_00]: It still isn't totally my thing, but it's a lot more palatable.
[00:17:10] [SPEAKER_00]: I've been playing with that on just to hear it and it's pretty impressive.
[00:17:13] [SPEAKER_00]: So if you like doom music, you'll get a lot out of this.
[00:17:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Um, finally, before I shut the fuck up, there's a lot of multiplayer stuff
[00:17:20] [SPEAKER_00]: like death match and co-op and stuff that he didn't get a chance to try.
[00:17:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Cause quite frankly, this is not really an aspect of doom that I
[00:17:27] [SPEAKER_00]: ever really cared about, but there seems to be a lot of options for
[00:17:31] [SPEAKER_00]: this stuff. So if you care about that aspect of doom as well, that has
[00:17:35] [SPEAKER_00]: largely been ignored on consoles all that's here this time.
[00:17:38] [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm pretty sure that stuff wasn't into the 2019 version.
[00:17:42] [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, really good rerelease.
[00:17:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Um, I didn't think I'd talk this much about doom in the
[00:17:46] [SPEAKER_00]: year of our Lord 2024, but here we are.
[00:17:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:17:49] [SPEAKER_00]: If again, if you have had those previous versions from 2019,
[00:17:53] [SPEAKER_00]: you can get this for free.
[00:17:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Definitely try it.
[00:17:55] [SPEAKER_00]: If you are in the market for that kind of thing.
[00:17:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I'm logging in when I finally have a few minutes.
[00:18:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Believe me.
[00:18:21] [SPEAKER_01]: All right, guys, I played just going to jump into it.
[00:18:25] [SPEAKER_01]: I played a telly a totary deluxe.
[00:18:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:18:28] [SPEAKER_01]: All these were deluxe.
[00:18:30] [SPEAKER_01]: A recap.
[00:18:32] [SPEAKER_01]: I got the Arlen trilogy from a giveaway during lockdown and only
[00:18:36] [SPEAKER_01]: got around to starting to play them when Kevin was off earlier in the year.
[00:18:41] [SPEAKER_01]: How did I like that first game?
[00:18:42] [SPEAKER_01]: If I wasn't listening to this show back then, despite some weird
[00:18:46] [SPEAKER_01]: choices like Verona having a single brain cell and having those plot threads
[00:18:50] [SPEAKER_01]: resolve themselves by not resolving themselves, I found the loop of making
[00:18:56] [SPEAKER_01]: shit and filling quotas enough to be satisfying enough to stick with it to
[00:19:01] [SPEAKER_01]: the end, even if it looked and behaved like my game cube can run this.
[00:19:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Wild frame rate and all right.
[00:19:08] [SPEAKER_00]: If I remember like, if the, if the, if digital fans recovered it,
[00:19:12] [SPEAKER_00]: did just be a sine wave on the screen.
[00:19:17] [SPEAKER_01]: This does lead us into our followup.
[00:19:19] [SPEAKER_01]: I did say Arlen trilogy.
[00:19:21] [SPEAKER_01]: So this game takes place a few years after Verona fucks off into the wilderness.
[00:19:25] [SPEAKER_01]: And so we have to follow around a new sap totary.
[00:19:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Totary has a few more brain cells than Verona does, but they're all at
[00:19:34] [SPEAKER_01]: odds with each other because of childhood trauma that we learn
[00:19:36] [SPEAKER_01]: about as the game progresses.
[00:19:39] [SPEAKER_01]: It also doesn't help that most of the other people she knows in her
[00:19:42] [SPEAKER_01]: fishing little fishing village barely function as human beings.
[00:19:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Also her alchemy teacher was Verona the, you know, the dumb dumb I keep
[00:19:50] [SPEAKER_01]: bringing up from the first game.
[00:19:52] [SPEAKER_01]: So everything is stacked against this poor girl.
[00:19:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Good Lord.
[00:19:58] [SPEAKER_01]: So in this game, as opposed to the evergreen reason of just cause that
[00:20:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Verona had totaries expected to fight against all the dysfunction in
[00:20:07] [SPEAKER_01]: the world to become an adventurer, a real ass job with a capital A and
[00:20:13] [SPEAKER_01]: adventurer rank.
[00:20:14] [SPEAKER_01]: So she could try to get clues as to what happened to her, to her mother,
[00:20:18] [SPEAKER_01]: a lady adventure who disappeared years before the game started.
[00:20:21] [SPEAKER_01]: And by all accounts is much more interesting than the rest of the
[00:20:24] [SPEAKER_01]: cast you do this by largely doing the same shit as before gathering
[00:20:31] [SPEAKER_01]: ingredients, making shit with the ingredients, beating monsters up to
[00:20:36] [SPEAKER_01]: get more ingredients and exploring new areas to find out what the
[00:20:39] [SPEAKER_01]: hell's there hopefully clues.
[00:20:41] [SPEAKER_00]: So like, do you have like a harvesting, like, okay, right now we need to
[00:20:48] [SPEAKER_00]: make some pumpkins.
[00:20:49] [SPEAKER_00]: So is it your job to go get the quote unquote ingredients to make pumpkins?
[00:20:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Is that, is that what happens or
[00:20:56] [SPEAKER_01]: there's a job board and you can, and you're supposed to try and fulfill
[00:20:59] [SPEAKER_01]: these requests for people, but a lot of it is just trying to follow
[00:21:03] [SPEAKER_01]: degrees from clues left behind.
[00:21:05] [SPEAKER_01]: You get lists from stores and things and you learn how to make shit that
[00:21:08] [SPEAKER_01]: way.
[00:21:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes you find that in the wilderness, like, Oh, we learned how to
[00:21:13] [SPEAKER_01]: make soap.
[00:21:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Isn't that great?
[00:21:15] [SPEAKER_00]: All right.
[00:21:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Accidentally.
[00:21:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, here's some soap.
[00:21:18] [SPEAKER_01]: So we start doing all that.
[00:21:21] [SPEAKER_01]: It's more streamlined, but we still have in game days to manage, but
[00:21:25] [SPEAKER_01]: all the landmarks are on one screen versus the first one where they
[00:21:29] [SPEAKER_01]: ended up being multiple screens for the sake of it.
[00:21:32] [SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of weird because harvesting ingredients and hunting stuff all
[00:21:35] [SPEAKER_01]: knocks time off the calendar.
[00:21:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Like you see the time start knocking down as does traveling from spot to
[00:21:40] [SPEAKER_01]: spot.
[00:21:41] [SPEAKER_01]: So there's that time management thing.
[00:21:44] [SPEAKER_01]: It's very weird.
[00:21:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[00:21:46] [SPEAKER_01]: So I guess it's just spoiler time for a game that came out forever ago
[00:21:50] [SPEAKER_01]: on PS3 and Vita.
[00:21:53] [SPEAKER_00]: They don't think anyone cares.
[00:21:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:21:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Vince played this game.
[00:21:56] [SPEAKER_01]: He's the one person that's going to care.
[00:21:57] [SPEAKER_01]: How are we doing out there?
[00:21:59] [SPEAKER_01]: You've got five game years to find your mom.
[00:22:02] [SPEAKER_01]: You'll be spending the first three of them, keeping your license valid.
[00:22:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, sure.
[00:22:07] [SPEAKER_01]: You'll be, you should be very much grinding that alchemy stat along
[00:22:10] [SPEAKER_01]: the way by fulfilling requests.
[00:22:11] [SPEAKER_01]: But once you hit a certain rank, you won't be able to go further
[00:22:15] [SPEAKER_01]: until those three years pass.
[00:22:17] [SPEAKER_01]: And wouldn't you know it only after those three years passes, when
[00:22:21] [SPEAKER_01]: other NPCs suddenly want to help you get the plot moving on your missing
[00:22:24] [SPEAKER_01]: mom.
[00:22:27] [SPEAKER_01]: So once you finally get to start doing that, this entails going to
[00:22:32] [SPEAKER_01]: the guild, triggering an event where the counter lady says she'll look into
[00:22:35] [SPEAKER_01]: looking into your mom for you.
[00:22:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Lose two more in-game months doing whatever.
[00:22:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Going back to the guild to find out that she has a tip that she was
[00:22:45] [SPEAKER_01]: lost at sea forever ago.
[00:22:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Going back to your hometown where you find out that your deadbeat
[00:22:51] [SPEAKER_01]: dad was a shipwright once.
[00:22:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Asking him to build you a ship and having him eventually agree after some
[00:22:59] [SPEAKER_01]: melodrama, but only if you, Atelier Totori, agree to craft the parts
[00:23:04] [SPEAKER_01]: needed to build said ship.
[00:23:07] [SPEAKER_00]: What is this?
[00:23:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Final fantasy 16 all of a sudden.
[00:23:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[00:23:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Fair enough.
[00:23:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's look at this list and oh my goodness, this thing is,
[00:23:17] [SPEAKER_01]: this ship is fairly evolved.
[00:23:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
[00:23:19] [SPEAKER_01]: If you've been playing fairly okay, you will have most of these things
[00:23:22] [SPEAKER_01]: in your storage, but it takes many, many in-game days to actually
[00:23:27] [SPEAKER_01]: conjure up each in-game part.
[00:23:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Hold on.
[00:23:30] [SPEAKER_00]: I have a question.
[00:23:31] [SPEAKER_00]: I have a question about that.
[00:23:32] [SPEAKER_00]: How do you,
[00:23:33] [SPEAKER_00]: what constitutes like losing time and like going to a dungeon or
[00:23:39] [SPEAKER_00]: like just doing an action?
[00:23:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Everything takes a day or something or.
[00:23:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Doing alchemy to make things can take, takes certain amounts of days,
[00:23:49] [SPEAKER_01]: depending on what you're making and how much of it for starters.
[00:23:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Do other stuff while you, while that's like cooking or do you just make it?
[00:23:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[00:23:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:23:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[00:23:57] [SPEAKER_00]: So there's no other sort of time management.
[00:23:59] [SPEAKER_00]: You just have to kill the bulk of time to do it.
[00:24:02] [SPEAKER_00]: And then it's made.
[00:24:04] [SPEAKER_01]: But you also lose time by traveling from place to place and
[00:24:08] [SPEAKER_01]: doing all this other shit.
[00:24:10] [SPEAKER_01]: So, okay.
[00:24:11] [SPEAKER_01]: You're always losing time just like in real life.
[00:24:14] [SPEAKER_00]: I assume that.
[00:24:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[00:24:16] [SPEAKER_00]: But like, how does it work in a dungeon?
[00:24:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Like, are you just, the longer you spend there,
[00:24:21] [SPEAKER_00]: the more time is spent.
[00:24:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Dungeon time is lost by having a fight or picking,
[00:24:28] [SPEAKER_01]: harvesting an ingredient.
[00:24:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[00:24:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
[00:24:32] [SPEAKER_01]: You watch the time notch down.
[00:24:33] [SPEAKER_00]: It's just, it's weird.
[00:24:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:24:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:24:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:24:37] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it doesn't sound like it's like you said, it doesn't sound
[00:24:40] [SPEAKER_00]: like very super pressure.
[00:24:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh my God, I'm running it.
[00:24:43] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I guess maybe you did eventually run out of time.
[00:24:46] [SPEAKER_00]: You tell me.
[00:24:47] [SPEAKER_01]: See, it's, this is very weird because there's this one part of the ship
[00:24:52] [SPEAKER_01]: and it requires a very specific ingredient and I didn't have enough of
[00:24:57] [SPEAKER_01]: it and wouldn't, you know, it, it spawns only very, very far away from
[00:25:01] [SPEAKER_01]: your hometown and it takes many in game months to get this thing
[00:25:07] [SPEAKER_01]: and bring it back home.
[00:25:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Now for me, that long series of events, specific line of events only triggered
[00:25:16] [SPEAKER_01]: with six months of in-game time left.
[00:25:19] [SPEAKER_01]: And I tried for mangling as best as I could, but, and I was ended up
[00:25:23] [SPEAKER_01]: being a part short in the end before finally just come into the realization
[00:25:26] [SPEAKER_01]: of holy shit, I'm fucked because once you hit year six, you just
[00:25:31] [SPEAKER_01]: trigger an ending where she automatically goes to get her thing renewed again.
[00:25:34] [SPEAKER_01]: He's like, you'll never find your mother.
[00:25:36] [SPEAKER_01]: There's no like, uh, there's, there's no reasoning with her saying, look,
[00:25:40] [SPEAKER_01]: I just need another week to build this ship.
[00:25:42] [SPEAKER_01]: If you just let me know, you'll never find her.
[00:25:45] [SPEAKER_01]: The game's over the end.
[00:25:49] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, okay, but guess what?
[00:25:51] [SPEAKER_01]: New game plus exists.
[00:25:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Failing counts as an ending.
[00:25:55] [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I played this game twice, sort of.
[00:25:59] [SPEAKER_01]: No.
[00:26:00] [SPEAKER_01]: The second time with all my gold.
[00:26:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I'm sorry.
[00:26:03] [SPEAKER_01]: We like to use the real names of money around here.
[00:26:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Coal.
[00:26:06] [SPEAKER_01]: All my coal was saved.
[00:26:09] [SPEAKER_01]: What coal?
[00:26:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Like C O A L coal.
[00:26:11] [SPEAKER_01]: C O L E coal.
[00:26:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, okay.
[00:26:14] [SPEAKER_01]: And equipment was saved.
[00:26:16] [SPEAKER_01]: So I pretty much breezed through until that first deadline.
[00:26:19] [SPEAKER_01]: And then, which point I did consult a guide to make sure I triggered those
[00:26:24] [SPEAKER_01]: points I went through earlier exactly.
[00:26:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh boy.
[00:26:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Even knowing the stuff I needed for the ship wasn't super helpful because
[00:26:32] [SPEAKER_01]: then I got the ship and you're still going out to sea and you got to do a
[00:26:37] [SPEAKER_01]: boss fight and that ended up being dominated by the night I had carry me
[00:26:42] [SPEAKER_01]: through the first game and Rorona who, yes, spoil alert.
[00:26:47] [SPEAKER_01]: At some point you fish her out of the water from the first, the same
[00:26:52] [SPEAKER_01]: lady from the first game.
[00:26:53] [SPEAKER_01]: You just fish her out of the water.
[00:26:55] [SPEAKER_01]: And yes, even though this is a thing that happens, it just barely registers
[00:27:00] [SPEAKER_01]: in the shit and the shit that happens department of this game.
[00:27:05] [SPEAKER_00]: How can man?
[00:27:08] [SPEAKER_00]: What she's just, you have to tell me more.
[00:27:10] [SPEAKER_00]: She's just drowning or like what you just literally
[00:27:13] [SPEAKER_01]: you pop back into town after getting your license or whatever.
[00:27:17] [SPEAKER_01]: And they just, and your dad's fishing or whatever.
[00:27:19] [SPEAKER_01]: And she just pops out of the water.
[00:27:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Like I almost drowned.
[00:27:26] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm hungry.
[00:27:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Like, oh my God.
[00:27:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
[00:27:30] [SPEAKER_00]: So she really, she didn't gain any more brain cells in between.
[00:27:34] [SPEAKER_01]: No, but she's a fairly helpful party member in that she, her basic attacks
[00:27:39] [SPEAKER_01]: or area, area of effect.
[00:27:42] [SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, that's very helpful by default.
[00:27:45] [SPEAKER_01]: So we'll have a lot.
[00:27:47] [SPEAKER_01]: She she's also very easy to kill.
[00:27:49] [SPEAKER_01]: So it's a lot of, oh, no, I'm done when her age
[00:27:53] [SPEAKER_01]: beat zero all the time.
[00:27:56] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, not going to lie, I'm kind of intrigued now.
[00:27:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Not that I'm going to play this, but I this feels yeah,
[00:28:03] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm kind of familiar from then playing them, of course, that
[00:28:07] [SPEAKER_00]: the time thing can really I think I don't think they want you
[00:28:11] [SPEAKER_00]: to really succeed on the first time.
[00:28:12] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't even think you're necessarily supposed to.
[00:28:15] [SPEAKER_00]: I think they want you to new game plus it because I remember
[00:28:19] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if it was this game or another one, probably something
[00:28:22] [SPEAKER_00]: around this time where Vin said he just, he did whatever he needed to do.
[00:28:26] [SPEAKER_00]: And then he just slept for two years.
[00:28:29] [SPEAKER_00]: So like beat the game, which is just, you know, like I just said,
[00:28:33] [SPEAKER_01]: and to play a new game plus really reveals how little there is going
[00:28:37] [SPEAKER_01]: on in this particular variant.
[00:28:38] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like, Oh, with, with all my stuff handy, I can just crush everything
[00:28:43] [SPEAKER_01]: until I have to actually do shit now.
[00:28:46] [SPEAKER_01]: And then you find out what happened to your mom.
[00:28:48] [SPEAKER_01]: And I guess there's a real ending where you can save your mom,
[00:28:51] [SPEAKER_01]: but I'm not doing that.
[00:28:52] [SPEAKER_01]: I have the real, I got the ending where I'm where totaries
[00:28:56] [SPEAKER_01]: better at alchemy than rarona is and that's good enough.
[00:28:59] [SPEAKER_01]: The end.
[00:29:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't.
[00:29:02] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I'm sure there's a lot of variants here,
[00:29:04] [SPEAKER_00]: but it's like, nah, I don't know.
[00:29:06] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm good.
[00:29:06] [SPEAKER_00]: I probably, I mean, you're better than me.
[00:29:08] [SPEAKER_00]: I probably would have been good after I couldn't get that shit.
[00:29:11] [SPEAKER_00]: I'd be like, you know what?
[00:29:11] [SPEAKER_00]: I've had enough toto toto re in my life.
[00:29:14] [SPEAKER_01]: It was fine, but 2011 was a time.
[00:29:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:29:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, that's what we've been playing.
[00:29:24] [SPEAKER_00]: We will get to games come.
[00:29:25] [SPEAKER_00]: We will get to Nintendo after what do you say, Steve?
[00:29:31] [SPEAKER_00]: You know what I'm thinking?
[00:29:32] [SPEAKER_00]: You thinking what I'm thinking?
[00:29:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Is it a big shot?
[00:29:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Is it a important shower time?
[00:29:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Are you not even going to sound excited?
[00:29:45] [SPEAKER_01]: No.
[00:29:48] [SPEAKER_00]: You know what?
[00:29:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Nevermind.
[00:29:49] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to do it.
[00:29:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Turn off the sexy music, play something else.
[00:29:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Forget it.
[00:29:52] [SPEAKER_00]: We'll be right back.
[00:30:34] [SPEAKER_00]: All right.
[00:30:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Before we get started on games com, there is one tiny little big questions.
[00:30:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Little big question.
[00:30:41] [SPEAKER_00]: That's a new video game out there.
[00:30:43] [SPEAKER_00]: A little big question, Steve.
[00:30:44] [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, on August 22nd, the official account for animal crossing pocket
[00:30:49] [SPEAKER_01]: camp announced the game will be closing November 28th, but the same
[00:30:54] [SPEAKER_01]: announcement they quickly stated a paid offline version will be made
[00:30:58] [SPEAKER_01]: available at that time and will be compatible with your existing save data.
[00:31:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Details for all that's going to be outlined in October sometime.
[00:31:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, an FAQ does note that leaf tickets to premium currency won't be carried
[00:31:12] [SPEAKER_01]: over so everyone that wants to use them should use them now.
[00:31:17] [SPEAKER_01]: This is kind of starting to feel like the end of the
[00:31:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Nintendo mobile games initiative.
[00:31:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Huh?
[00:31:23] [SPEAKER_01]: How much longer for fire emblem or other things in this case?
[00:31:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know, I, first of all, poor one out for pocket camp.
[00:31:33] [SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't even good in my opinion.
[00:31:36] [SPEAKER_00]: How long did you play this?
[00:31:37] [SPEAKER_00]: I played it for a good five days before I'm like, I really don't feel
[00:31:41] [SPEAKER_00]: like having this or that do dad for so, so and so can come over is really
[00:31:46] [SPEAKER_00]: in the spirit of animal crossing.
[00:31:47] [SPEAKER_00]: So I'm not playing this, but it lasts another seven years.
[00:31:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I kept logging in when it was time for platinum coins time.
[00:31:58] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, when I really wanted some do dads sent to my house,
[00:32:02] [SPEAKER_01]: it was a good way to get them.
[00:32:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:32:05] [SPEAKER_00]: We, you could, you could get some do dads sent to your house that way.
[00:32:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Nah, you know, I'm not sad to see it go obviously, but as for what
[00:32:14] [SPEAKER_00]: it means for other Nintendo mobile stuff, if we can assume that all of
[00:32:20] [SPEAKER_00]: this mobile stuff in the first place was part of that initiative a decade
[00:32:24] [SPEAKER_00]: ago, where it's like all the shareholders are like, Oh, mobile is
[00:32:28] [SPEAKER_00]: the future.
[00:32:29] [SPEAKER_00]: We need mobile games, blah, blah, blah.
[00:32:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Right?
[00:32:32] [SPEAKER_00]: If we think that's over, then yeah, all of this is over.
[00:32:36] [SPEAKER_00]: But personally, I don't see fire emblem or super Mario run
[00:32:41] [SPEAKER_00]: going anywhere like ever.
[00:32:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Why would they?
[00:32:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Like I don't do you, I don't see.
[00:32:48] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I know you play fire emblem, but.
[00:32:51] [SPEAKER_01]: I feel like fire emblem has been trying to end the story for I've been over this
[00:32:55] [SPEAKER_01]: with the poke pals, like they resolved the story that they started with in
[00:32:59] [SPEAKER_01]: the first place.
[00:33:00] [SPEAKER_01]: They fought the God of time last year.
[00:33:03] [SPEAKER_01]: This year we're doing shit with the address field and the branches of the
[00:33:07] [SPEAKER_01]: world or whatever, like they are running out of shit.
[00:33:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Like someone wants to end this thing already, but we can't cause that is
[00:33:14] [SPEAKER_01]: the one that's making all the money because of the white foos.
[00:33:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:33:18] [SPEAKER_00]: And the husbandos too, even though they don't have nipples, right?
[00:33:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Still no nipples on the husbandos.
[00:33:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Has Ike been shirtless yet since the last time I asked.
[00:33:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Still no shirtless like since you last asked me this.
[00:33:31] [SPEAKER_01]: No.
[00:33:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Cannot believe that's still on the table for them.
[00:33:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Um, yeah, anyway, it is cool that they are letting people play an
[00:33:39] [SPEAKER_00]: offline quote unquote offline version of pocket camp because most games
[00:33:42] [SPEAKER_00]: don't even give you that much because we say that shit all the time,
[00:33:46] [SPEAKER_00]: right?
[00:33:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Like, Oh, why don't they just let people play this?
[00:33:48] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's not connected or something.
[00:33:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Then it's like, yeah, it doesn't make any money, but it's good will
[00:33:54] [SPEAKER_00]: to fans and I think Nintendo understands that how much animal
[00:33:58] [SPEAKER_00]: crossing towns mean to people.
[00:34:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Now this is not that in that traditional sense, but I feel like
[00:34:06] [SPEAKER_00]: they're trying to respect and preserve that.
[00:34:08] [SPEAKER_00]: So I do think that's cool, even though I think the game is pretty trash.
[00:34:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was, it was fine.
[00:34:15] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you didn't have the Guido penguins paint your van.
[00:34:19] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think, Oh yeah, I've done that.
[00:34:21] [SPEAKER_00]: I've definitely done that and they were definitely Guido penguins.
[00:34:25] [SPEAKER_00]: I wonder what they were in Japanese to make them localize.
[00:34:29] [SPEAKER_00]: I wonder what the, I wonder what that was or unless just someone at
[00:34:34] [SPEAKER_00]: a, the tree house felt a little spry that day and it's like, you
[00:34:37] [SPEAKER_00]: know what, they should talk like this and good call of them.
[00:34:41] [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah.
[00:34:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[00:34:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Time for games com.
[00:34:50] [SPEAKER_00]: And it was a good time.
[00:34:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Steve, what did you let overall?
[00:34:53] [SPEAKER_00]: I know we always like to do this, but overall, what did you think of games com?
[00:34:56] [SPEAKER_00]: I, you know, this is never like a highlight of the year particularly,
[00:35:00] [SPEAKER_00]: but I thought this one was pretty good.
[00:35:01] [SPEAKER_00]: There were some, there were some meat.
[00:35:03] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, I feel like we usually look at games common go, didn't
[00:35:07] [SPEAKER_01]: we know about all this shit already kind of, but this year it was like,
[00:35:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you're, you're actually showing us a few things and some more substantial
[00:35:20] [SPEAKER_01]: updates about other things.
[00:35:22] [SPEAKER_01]: And just by that unit of measure, I think games com is was pretty good this year.
[00:35:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:35:29] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't, I don't ever really expect reveals from games com, but we did get
[00:35:34] [SPEAKER_00]: some, but okay, before the show they had a pre show and in that pre show
[00:35:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Capcom aired the Terry Bogard gameplay trailer for street fighter six.
[00:35:44] [SPEAKER_00]: What did you think?
[00:35:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Cause I thought that shit was excellent.
[00:35:48] [SPEAKER_01]: If I had no idea who Terry Bogard was, I just say he's this new guy they made
[00:35:53] [SPEAKER_01]: up based on the way they used to make fighting games.
[00:35:56] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean that in the most best way possible, he just looks like he
[00:36:01] [SPEAKER_01]: belongs in street fighter as opposed to when Akuma showed up in Tekken,
[00:36:07] [SPEAKER_01]: however long ago that was
[00:36:08] [SPEAKER_00]: where he and geese, right?
[00:36:10] [SPEAKER_00]: They were just Akuma and geese.
[00:36:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Like exactly.
[00:36:13] [SPEAKER_00]: They didn't look like they belong there at all.
[00:36:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Terry looks like he belongs in street fighter and I gotta give extra
[00:36:19] [SPEAKER_01]: points for including the Garou outfit.
[00:36:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Hair physics too.
[00:36:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Did you catch the hair?
[00:36:24] [SPEAKER_01]: The hair is wild.
[00:36:25] [SPEAKER_01]: I can't believe the hair.
[00:36:29] [SPEAKER_00]: It's unbelievable.
[00:36:31] [SPEAKER_00]: The animation that's what's so cool about street fighter six is that the
[00:36:35] [SPEAKER_00]: animations are just so top notch.
[00:36:38] [SPEAKER_00]: They are so cool and seeing Terry animated this way, his face still
[00:36:43] [SPEAKER_00]: looks a little fucked up, but honestly, like, I don't know.
[00:36:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Everyone's face is a little weird.
[00:36:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Shoot fighter six.
[00:36:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Nobody looks exactly how they did before.
[00:36:51] [SPEAKER_00]: So I remember that first reveal of just showing him was like,
[00:36:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, his face now it makes more sense that he's like fighting Ken.
[00:36:58] [SPEAKER_00]: It looks more in universe.
[00:37:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, he has to be fighting Ken.
[00:37:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:37:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, yeah, that's his, that's his counterpart.
[00:37:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Jesus Christ.
[00:37:05] [SPEAKER_00]: It's it's Kyo and Ryu and it's Terry and Ken.
[00:37:08] [SPEAKER_00]: We all know that.
[00:37:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Come on.
[00:37:10] [SPEAKER_00]: We know who the boyfriend pairings are.
[00:37:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Speaking of boyfriend pairings, have the guys from the opening
[00:37:15] [SPEAKER_01]: of the street fighter two arcade sequence been wailing on each other
[00:37:19] [SPEAKER_01]: this whole time or did they sneak that in this trailer?
[00:37:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:37:22] [SPEAKER_00]: That's so weird.
[00:37:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Have they stuck the two creative characters that look like that?
[00:37:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:37:26] [SPEAKER_00]: It's 10 punch.
[00:37:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:37:27] [SPEAKER_00]: They have an age age pretty good, huh?
[00:37:30] [SPEAKER_00]: For what?
[00:37:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Being over what?
[00:37:32] [SPEAKER_00]: 30, 35 years ago, almost 30, 35.
[00:37:34] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they look better than hobo Ken for sure.
[00:37:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, just wait till you get this game.
[00:37:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Ken's story is wild.
[00:37:41] [SPEAKER_00]: I need to buy this so I know, I know.
[00:37:44] [SPEAKER_00]: You got to do it, man.
[00:37:45] [SPEAKER_00]: It's so good.
[00:37:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, the stage two, the pow pow cafe looked fucking incredible.
[00:37:50] [SPEAKER_00]: All the character cameos just like on, you know, any given
[00:37:55] [SPEAKER_00]: like KOF stage, you know, um, Joe Higashi was in the background.
[00:37:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Poison was on stage.
[00:38:01] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if you got poison.
[00:38:02] [SPEAKER_01]: I missed, I missed poison.
[00:38:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:38:04] [SPEAKER_00]: She was there.
[00:38:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Um, but yeah, I'm sure there was more if I look hard enough, uh, unless
[00:38:09] [SPEAKER_00]: you're playing on a shitty system like PS4 in which you probably
[00:38:12] [SPEAKER_00]: won't see any of that.
[00:38:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Have you seen comparisons to the PS4 version of street fighter six?
[00:38:17] [SPEAKER_00]: It's embarrassing.
[00:38:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Dalton stage doesn't even have elephants.
[00:38:20] [SPEAKER_01]: What is this?
[00:38:21] [SPEAKER_01]: The three DS version of a street fighter four.
[00:38:23] [SPEAKER_01]: No, I'm just kidding.
[00:38:24] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, I've never played that it looked okay for what it is,
[00:38:28] [SPEAKER_00]: but I'm sure like, if I looked at it now be like,
[00:38:30] [SPEAKER_01]: uh, it was very, it was pretty damn good in 2011.
[00:38:35] [SPEAKER_00]: I know I'm asking the wrong person for this, but was it 60?
[00:38:39] [SPEAKER_01]: If you didn't turn on the three D yes.
[00:38:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, well then fuck it.
[00:38:43] [SPEAKER_00]: 2d 60 for me.
[00:38:44] [SPEAKER_00]: That's the new 4k 62d 60.
[00:38:49] [SPEAKER_00]: All right.
[00:38:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Let's get into the show proper.
[00:38:51] [SPEAKER_00]: And they started with a bang.
[00:38:52] [SPEAKER_00]: They revealed borderlands four, which is like fine.
[00:38:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Cool.
[00:38:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
[00:38:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Right.
[00:38:57] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, I'm here for it.
[00:38:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, borderlands is just weird timing after like the worst movie of the year.
[00:39:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that wasn't weird timing.
[00:39:06] [SPEAKER_01]: They, they timed that where it was on purpose.
[00:39:09] [SPEAKER_01]: This was, this was teaser trailer as fuck.
[00:39:12] [SPEAKER_01]: This wasn't right.
[00:39:13] [SPEAKER_01]: They didn't have any gameplay of this.
[00:39:15] [SPEAKER_01]: This was very much no, no guys.
[00:39:17] [SPEAKER_01]: They go or the movie.
[00:39:18] [SPEAKER_01]: We have a goody okay.
[00:39:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Coming.
[00:39:21] [SPEAKER_01]: We swear.
[00:39:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I mean, yeah, you could, I mean, it could be that cynical as well.
[00:39:26] [SPEAKER_00]: It's like, okay, let's tease it now.
[00:39:28] [SPEAKER_00]: However, it is coming out next year and considering how long games take to make
[00:39:33] [SPEAKER_00]: nowadays, they've been working on this probably since borderlands three came
[00:39:36] [SPEAKER_00]: out in 2019 so yeah, I think this was the time to start building hype for it
[00:39:44] [SPEAKER_00]: regardless of the, the movie, which was supposed to come out two years ago.
[00:39:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, remember in our previously creative endeavor, a gearbox had like
[00:39:51] [SPEAKER_00]: an E three little thing and they were showing the filming of that.
[00:39:54] [SPEAKER_00]: And it's like Kevin Hart.
[00:39:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:39:59] [SPEAKER_00]: I remember that.
[00:39:59] [SPEAKER_00]: That was still a long time ago now, so it was supposed to come out ages ago.
[00:40:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Um, anyway, they showed goat simulator remastered, but Steve, why, why
[00:40:11] [SPEAKER_00]: are we here mastering goat simulator?
[00:40:14] [SPEAKER_00]: It was a cute little trailer though with all the video gamey things, I
[00:40:18] [SPEAKER_01]: guess, but yeah, but looking, it was a cute trailer with all that other stuff.
[00:40:24] [SPEAKER_01]: But I think the appeal of the actual game, I have yet to actually play one.
[00:40:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe I should soon is that generally they really haven't
[00:40:33] [SPEAKER_01]: tried that hard to look that good.
[00:40:35] [SPEAKER_01]: It's more about interacting with the stuff.
[00:40:38] [SPEAKER_01]: At least I think that's supposed to be what the appeal has been this whole time.
[00:40:41] [SPEAKER_00]: It's a playground where you do silly shit.
[00:40:44] [SPEAKER_01]: And honestly, I don't think this version and its attempt to look good
[00:40:47] [SPEAKER_01]: really looks all that good either.
[00:40:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Like, like when I want to go back, if I, when I finally get around to playing goat
[00:40:54] [SPEAKER_01]: simulator that everyone else already played forever ago, I think I'll just
[00:40:57] [SPEAKER_01]: stick to the original where it doesn't look like they fed it through the AI
[00:41:00] [SPEAKER_01]: upresing machine.
[00:41:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, the graphics weren't even good at the time.
[00:41:04] [SPEAKER_00]: That was kind of the point is that it did look like shit.
[00:41:08] [SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know.
[00:41:10] [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like if you tried to make, I dunno, maybe they're putting just
[00:41:13] [SPEAKER_00]: in UE five and having some, I dunno, I dunno what you can really do
[00:41:17] [SPEAKER_00]: to remaster goat simulator.
[00:41:18] [SPEAKER_00]: It's already masterful.
[00:41:21] [SPEAKER_01]: So they had a trailer for persona three reload.
[00:41:26] [SPEAKER_01]: They're getting DLC featuring Joker.
[00:41:29] [SPEAKER_01]: And I'd really like to just say we never saw it coming and then have
[00:41:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Andre get angry and play music out for the next segment, but I really
[00:41:39] [SPEAKER_01]: have to point out that Sega and Atlas are in a really weird spot where
[00:41:45] [SPEAKER_01]: personifies popularity, put them in a really weird place where everyone's
[00:41:49] [SPEAKER_01]: just going to keep asking about where Joker is in each game.
[00:41:53] [SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know.
[00:41:55] [SPEAKER_01]: I guess they have, they're playing the game too.
[00:41:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Like, uh, fine.
[00:41:59] [SPEAKER_01]: You, you want Joker?
[00:42:00] [SPEAKER_01]: You pay for him.
[00:42:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Damn it.
[00:42:03] [SPEAKER_00]: It's just weird to keep doing this considering how separate those worlds are.
[00:42:07] [SPEAKER_00]: It's like, what if Titas just started showing up and every final
[00:42:11] [SPEAKER_00]: fantasy DLC or something?
[00:42:12] [SPEAKER_00]: It's just like, I don't, can we not do that?
[00:42:15] [SPEAKER_01]: I kind of see where it's sort of coming from because even back in the PS one
[00:42:19] [SPEAKER_01]: times after final fantasy seven blew up, I remember a chief complaint about
[00:42:24] [SPEAKER_01]: eight and a few people were like, where's cloud like, oh, you poor
[00:42:30] [SPEAKER_00]: children, you sweet summer child.
[00:42:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Those poor children indeed.
[00:42:35] [SPEAKER_00]: The first of all, they're playing final fantasy eight to begin with.
[00:42:38] [SPEAKER_00]: And, uh, yeah, they're expecting the characters they had before.
[00:42:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Nope.
[00:42:43] [SPEAKER_00]: You're not going to really get that from that.
[00:42:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Speaking of children, King of meat.
[00:42:48] [SPEAKER_01]: I think everyone way back in 2019 is going to love this game under.
[00:42:53] [SPEAKER_00]: That was weird.
[00:42:54] [SPEAKER_00]: That was weird.
[00:42:55] [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't know what they were going for.
[00:42:56] [SPEAKER_00]: It looked like they were going for some future blood sport thing,
[00:42:59] [SPEAKER_00]: but then it was that, I don't know.
[00:43:01] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't even know how to describe what that was.
[00:43:03] [SPEAKER_00]: It was weird.
[00:43:03] [SPEAKER_00]: What I was a lot more interested in and intrigued by though, was something
[00:43:09] [SPEAKER_00]: called lost records, bloom and rage.
[00:43:12] [SPEAKER_00]: And I saw this and I was legit confused.
[00:43:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Tell me this isn't life is strange, right?
[00:43:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Or life is strange adjacent.
[00:43:20] [SPEAKER_00]: This is something else because it looks exactly like life is strange.
[00:43:25] [SPEAKER_01]: It does look exactly like life is strange.
[00:43:27] [SPEAKER_01]: And that's because it is made by don't nod who made life is
[00:43:31] [SPEAKER_01]: strange for square Enix.
[00:43:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, but.
[00:43:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Don't nod is making lost records, bloom and rage publishing it rather for themselves.
[00:43:40] [SPEAKER_01]: This is all under their umbrella.
[00:43:41] [SPEAKER_01]: No square Enix here.
[00:43:42] [SPEAKER_01]: This is their holy original property here.
[00:43:47] [SPEAKER_00]: So are they like, this isn't a situation where they don't do life
[00:43:51] [SPEAKER_00]: as strange anymore in square Enix as the IP and they're just
[00:43:53] [SPEAKER_00]: making not life is strange.
[00:43:55] [SPEAKER_00]: They're also making life as strange.
[00:43:57] [SPEAKER_00]: They're just making this too.
[00:43:59] [SPEAKER_01]: For the time being, I, again, we've been over that new story a while ago
[00:44:02] [SPEAKER_01]: where square Enix is like, there's going to be some changes around here, but
[00:44:06] [SPEAKER_01]: we really don't know what all that's going to entail for now in the
[00:44:09] [SPEAKER_01]: meantime, bloom and rage is going to be published by don't nod.
[00:44:15] [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm assuming life is strange.
[00:44:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Hope will hopefully come back to these people eventually.
[00:44:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, there's that one coming out soon, right?
[00:44:23] [SPEAKER_00]: With the Polaroids, like double exposure or something like that.
[00:44:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[00:44:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Right.
[00:44:28] [SPEAKER_00]: So I assume that's also made by them.
[00:44:30] [SPEAKER_00]: I assume they're still doing that.
[00:44:31] [SPEAKER_00]: I think that's still them.
[00:44:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[00:44:34] [SPEAKER_00]: They also showed a new trailer for infinity Nikki, which we saw at
[00:44:37] [SPEAKER_00]: summer games fest originally, which I remember because it looked insane.
[00:44:43] [SPEAKER_00]: And this also looked insane.
[00:44:46] [SPEAKER_00]: This might be one of those nutty trailers I have seen Steve.
[00:44:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:44:51] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm still not in the biggest rush to buy this, but again, this is
[00:44:54] [SPEAKER_01]: the second trailer we've seen and they're both off the walls and saying,
[00:44:57] [SPEAKER_01]: I just hope that finds its way to its intended audiences.
[00:45:01] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's certainly going to find its way to the PlayStation
[00:45:03] [SPEAKER_01]: five when it hits Royale with cheese.
[00:45:05] [SPEAKER_01]: But you know that I take a while.
[00:45:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Never coming.
[00:45:08] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
[00:45:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Is it really going to come to that?
[00:45:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Or they were infinity Nikki is going to be on a.
[00:45:15] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
[00:45:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Every day.
[00:45:15] [SPEAKER_01]: I feel like everything comes to there eventually.
[00:45:18] [SPEAKER_01]: I have time.
[00:45:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Would, are you trying to say you would play it if it came on there?
[00:45:24] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not, not saying that.
[00:45:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh my God.
[00:45:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh no, no, you're gonna, you're gonna.
[00:45:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Ironclad this to the people.
[00:45:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Are you going to play infinity Nikki if it comes on PlayStation
[00:45:34] [SPEAKER_00]: plus real with cheese?
[00:45:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Yes or no.
[00:45:37] [SPEAKER_01]: If the infinity Nikki game comes to the PlayStation,
[00:45:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Royale with cheese service, Steve, the fine time podcast,
[00:45:45] [SPEAKER_01]: East host will play the game.
[00:45:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[00:45:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[00:45:49] [SPEAKER_00]: I want you, I want commitment.
[00:45:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, I will play it too.
[00:45:53] [SPEAKER_00]: Cause you nailed it.
[00:45:54] [SPEAKER_00]: This game looks completely bonkers.
[00:45:56] [SPEAKER_00]: What is even happening?
[00:45:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I still don't understand.
[00:45:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Is it a photo shoot game?
[00:46:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Is it just like a life simulator?
[00:46:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Corner goat simulator?
[00:46:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Like what, just what, what is this?
[00:46:07] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
[00:46:11] [SPEAKER_01]: It's almost like an open world through a fever dream, but, and
[00:46:15] [SPEAKER_01]: she's changing clothes every few five minutes.
[00:46:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:46:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Outfits and clothes seem to be a big part of this.
[00:46:22] [SPEAKER_00]: It seemed like there was some light Dungeoning.
[00:46:26] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
[00:46:30] [SPEAKER_00]: So, so they showed this new game called reanimal, which proudly
[00:46:35] [SPEAKER_00]: stated that it was from the makers of little nightmares and
[00:46:39] [SPEAKER_00]: little nightmares too.
[00:46:40] [SPEAKER_00]: And you could tell because God damn it looked exactly like
[00:46:43] [SPEAKER_00]: what a little nightmare story would be.
[00:46:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Like you could totally tell.
[00:46:47] [SPEAKER_00]: And I've never even played little nightmares, but then not
[00:46:50] [SPEAKER_00]: too much further into the show.
[00:46:52] [SPEAKER_00]: They show an actual little nightmares three.
[00:46:56] [SPEAKER_00]: So what the hell is going on here?
[00:46:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Can you explain to me, Steve?
[00:47:00] [SPEAKER_00]: I might be able to help.
[00:47:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Please do.
[00:47:04] [SPEAKER_01]: The folks who made little nightmares, Targer studios were
[00:47:08] [SPEAKER_01]: bought out by a firm who were subsequently bought out by
[00:47:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Embracer a few years ago.
[00:47:16] [SPEAKER_01]: It's been kind of a mess with this whole whatever with all that.
[00:47:20] [SPEAKER_01]: But as I understand it, Bandai Namco still has a stake in publishing
[00:47:25] [SPEAKER_01]: little nightmares, which would make reanimal a holy THQ Nordic
[00:47:32] [SPEAKER_01]: branded project.
[00:47:34] [SPEAKER_01]: So we're looking at a, what we were just talking about with
[00:47:38] [SPEAKER_01]: life is strange and the not life is strange there.
[00:47:43] [SPEAKER_01]: They're splitting the difference across, you know, their two
[00:47:46] [SPEAKER_01]: masters here.
[00:47:49] [SPEAKER_00]: That's so interesting.
[00:47:51] [SPEAKER_00]: It's so, I mean, look, it's a, it's a tail's oldest time
[00:47:54] [SPEAKER_00]: in this industry, right?
[00:47:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Like we know stuff gets co-opted by another company.
[00:47:59] [SPEAKER_00]: IPs become what they are now.
[00:48:00] [SPEAKER_00]: We have to make not Castlevania and bloodstained and stuff like that.
[00:48:05] [SPEAKER_00]: We have to make not Mega Man and mighty number nine, right?
[00:48:08] [SPEAKER_00]: But this is, I guess just another case of that.
[00:48:11] [SPEAKER_00]: But the fact that it's completely embracered is, I guess, whatever.
[00:48:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Speaking of whatever Genshin impact has a new update.
[00:48:20] [SPEAKER_01]: I never played this and a release date for Xbox.
[00:48:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Woohoo.
[00:48:25] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, those three people with a million accounts are always
[00:48:28] [SPEAKER_01]: complaining about how they want Japanese games right on direct.
[00:48:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, here they are.
[00:48:47] [SPEAKER_00]: They showed a new city of the wolves trailer, fatal fury city
[00:48:51] [SPEAKER_00]: of the wolves trailer for my Shiranui.
[00:48:56] [SPEAKER_00]: She's in fatal fury again.
[00:48:58] [SPEAKER_00]: She hasn't been in fatal fury in forever.
[00:49:00] [SPEAKER_00]: She certainly wasn't in mark of the wolves.
[00:49:03] [SPEAKER_01]: If I know anything about fatal fury, it's that it's not a game
[00:49:08] [SPEAKER_01]: for good boys and girls of all ages.
[00:49:11] [SPEAKER_00]: I genuinely think Sakurai saying that is the thing that is most
[00:49:15] [SPEAKER_00]: known about my Shiranui now.
[00:49:18] [SPEAKER_00]: It has to be because the millions of eyes were on that.
[00:49:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, the kids didn't even know who Terry Bogard was.
[00:49:24] [SPEAKER_00]: So they have no hope, right?
[00:49:25] [SPEAKER_00]: That was the reason why, but yeah, like again, it's not a no shit move.
[00:49:31] [SPEAKER_00]: This is because fatal fury, this is really exciting cause she hasn't
[00:49:34] [SPEAKER_00]: been there for so long and I didn't expect her to be in this, but here
[00:49:39] [SPEAKER_00]: she is love the new outfit, the little zip up a biker thing, but then the
[00:49:43] [SPEAKER_00]: classic one is here too, which had quickly revealed and Steve without
[00:49:47] [SPEAKER_00]: being too lewd on the air, let's just say that they knew exactly what
[00:49:51] [SPEAKER_00]: they were doing when they were pitting her against B Janay in that
[00:49:54] [SPEAKER_00]: footage.
[00:49:55] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, come on.
[00:49:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, they knew exactly what they were doing is all I'm going to say
[00:50:00] [SPEAKER_01]: without getting flagged for content.
[00:50:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Just like a last year when they shoot, when they debuted Zangief
[00:50:05] [SPEAKER_00]: against E Honda, come on.
[00:50:08] [SPEAKER_00]: They knew exactly what they were doing.
[00:50:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Right?
[00:50:10] [SPEAKER_01]: So all part of God's plan.
[00:50:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
[00:50:14] [SPEAKER_00]: What did you think this would, this look great.
[00:50:16] [SPEAKER_00]: This game is looking so good.
[00:50:18] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like she never even left.
[00:50:20] [SPEAKER_01]: I had to be almost reminded that she hasn't been here in a while.
[00:50:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:50:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Um, but so there's something weird going on with the price
[00:50:28] [SPEAKER_00]: of city of the wolves.
[00:50:30] [SPEAKER_00]: And I want to talk about it.
[00:50:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe we can do another little big question here in the middle
[00:50:34] [SPEAKER_00]: of this games comp thing.
[00:50:36] [SPEAKER_00]: So at the end of the, my trailer, they revealed the release date,
[00:50:40] [SPEAKER_00]: which is April, 2025 grade.
[00:50:42] [SPEAKER_00]: And they showed the special edition of the game, which said you
[00:50:45] [SPEAKER_00]: can get the base game plus season pass, which includes five
[00:50:49] [SPEAKER_00]: DLC characters for 60 bucks.
[00:50:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[00:50:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Cool.
[00:50:53] [SPEAKER_00]: A base game season pass 60 bucks.
[00:50:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Like that's, that's cheap.
[00:50:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Honestly, most game, most base games go for $60.
[00:51:00] [SPEAKER_00]: And then you have to buy the DLC on top, you know, so for
[00:51:03] [SPEAKER_00]: getting 60, so for paying $60 for everything, that's pretty good.
[00:51:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Here's the problem.
[00:51:09] [SPEAKER_00]: There's no actual base game to buy.
[00:51:13] [SPEAKER_00]: The only version you can buy is the special edition for $60.
[00:51:18] [SPEAKER_00]: And every storefront notes this in the game subscription,
[00:51:22] [SPEAKER_00]: which I'll read right now it says, and I quote fatal fury
[00:51:26] [SPEAKER_00]: city of the wolves will only be available in this special edition
[00:51:29] [SPEAKER_00]: format, there are no plans at this time to sell the base game
[00:51:33] [SPEAKER_00]: and season pass one individually.
[00:51:36] [SPEAKER_00]: End quote Steve.
[00:51:39] [SPEAKER_00]: What?
[00:51:41] [SPEAKER_00]: That's I mean, like, I'm sorry.
[00:51:43] [SPEAKER_00]: I think that's fucked up.
[00:51:45] [SPEAKER_01]: You want to know what I think happened?
[00:51:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Tell me somebody looked at all the complicated charts that people
[00:51:54] [SPEAKER_01]: have made over the years, like, you know what people love?
[00:51:56] [SPEAKER_01]: People love when we make 5,000 different versions of a game and
[00:52:01] [SPEAKER_01]: make everyone have to guess which one they want to buy to get the shit they
[00:52:04] [SPEAKER_01]: want.
[00:52:05] [SPEAKER_01]: And then at the last second, they said, no, that's stupid.
[00:52:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's not do that.
[00:52:09] [SPEAKER_01]: But then they were already too far ahead in splitting up in certain ways.
[00:52:16] [SPEAKER_01]: So now they're stuck doing it this way.
[00:52:19] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, maybe.
[00:52:20] [SPEAKER_00]: And like, if this game were published by like an Ubisoft or an EA, sure.
[00:52:25] [SPEAKER_00]: But SMK, I don't know who they go through for publishers nowadays, nor
[00:52:28] [SPEAKER_00]: does it really matter.
[00:52:29] [SPEAKER_00]: But like, this feels kind of unethical.
[00:52:32] [SPEAKER_00]: It feels like the inverse of the Ubisoft problem.
[00:52:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Like you just said, having 47 different versions that are slightly
[00:52:38] [SPEAKER_00]: different, this isn't actually better because you can't say base
[00:52:43] [SPEAKER_00]: game plus DLC if there is no base game to buy.
[00:52:47] [SPEAKER_00]: And like, honestly, it feels like a gigantic missed opportunity to sell
[00:52:53] [SPEAKER_00]: a cheaper fighting game to a public that increasingly does not really
[00:52:58] [SPEAKER_00]: want to pay full price for them if it's not Street Fighter, Tekken
[00:53:01] [SPEAKER_00]: or Mortal Kombat.
[00:53:01] [SPEAKER_00]: And quite frankly, I don't blame them.
[00:53:05] [SPEAKER_00]: So having like a $40 base game not out there just having the $60
[00:53:11] [SPEAKER_00]: special edition that feels not great.
[00:53:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Why couldn't they have just marketed this like, okay, here's our $60
[00:53:19] [SPEAKER_00]: fighting game all for the first year.
[00:53:21] [SPEAKER_00]: All the characters are free.
[00:53:22] [SPEAKER_00]: All five of them just market it like that.
[00:53:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Don't sell it as like DLC that you were forced into buying.
[00:53:28] [SPEAKER_00]: That just doesn't feel great.
[00:53:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Again, I just think the executives are too attached to the DLC money
[00:53:36] [SPEAKER_01]: grinder for them to abandon it entirely.
[00:53:39] [SPEAKER_01]: It's the only way any of this makes any sense because otherwise, yeah,
[00:53:43] [SPEAKER_01]: this is a $60 package.
[00:53:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, we'll just buy this.
[00:53:47] [SPEAKER_01]: That's fine.
[00:53:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, you want to talk Sib 7?
[00:53:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Cause I'm sure that made your pants.
[00:53:53] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to say what your pants did.
[00:53:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, well my pants from when they showed this at summer Games Fest
[00:54:01] [SPEAKER_01]: is still at the cleaners, but I'm still fairly content that I'm
[00:54:05] [SPEAKER_01]: not going to be seen ever again.
[00:54:07] [SPEAKER_01]: When I finally pick it up probably on switch next because it's
[00:54:10] [SPEAKER_01]: probably gorgeous on there, but you know, whatever.
[00:54:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Remember back in the day when simulation games and RTS would be
[00:54:17] [SPEAKER_00]: like the PC benchmark, you know, because of how much stuff they had to
[00:54:22] [SPEAKER_00]: keep track of, and it was always a Ram meter, right?
[00:54:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Like that was always the thing.
[00:54:26] [SPEAKER_00]: How fast could you run command and conquer or something like that?
[00:54:29] [SPEAKER_00]: It would always make everyone's computer chug.
[00:54:32] [SPEAKER_00]: And looking at Sib 7 is that feeling is back.
[00:54:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Cause this game looked crazy dense.
[00:54:38] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm kind of into it.
[00:54:39] [SPEAKER_00]: I really am.
[00:54:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Again, I've already lost way too much time on Civilization 6 and I'm always
[00:54:46] [SPEAKER_01]: itching to go back to it, except when like, no, Steve, you have too many
[00:54:48] [SPEAKER_01]: other games to play to think about starting another Civilization 6 campaign.
[00:54:52] [SPEAKER_01]: You don't have the time.
[00:54:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Don't, don't do it.
[00:54:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Um, have you played the offshoots?
[00:54:59] [SPEAKER_00]: I think they're called Civilization Revolution.
[00:55:02] [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't have the privilege.
[00:55:03] [SPEAKER_00]: No.
[00:55:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I think, I think they're called that.
[00:55:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Um, those are, those are fun too.
[00:55:07] [SPEAKER_00]: I played one of those on 360, maybe the first one or something.
[00:55:10] [SPEAKER_00]: It was, it's, it's good stuff too.
[00:55:13] [SPEAKER_00]: So they showed Marvel rivals here at games com it's coming out December 6th.
[00:55:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Excellent.
[00:55:20] [SPEAKER_00]: I cannot wait, but the best part of this trailer was the end, Steve, where
[00:55:24] [SPEAKER_00]: they show the giant roster shot.
[00:55:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Everyone is here style, right?
[00:55:29] [SPEAKER_00]: The giant roster shot and the tech said all heroes unlocked and
[00:55:34] [SPEAKER_00]: free to play at launch and beyond.
[00:55:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Ooh.
[00:55:42] [SPEAKER_01]: That, that kind of sucks to be literally anybody else in this arena space right now.
[00:55:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
[00:55:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Because it will, yeah.
[00:55:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Every, yeah, Concord who would it's shots fired at everybody, but it's
[00:55:57] [SPEAKER_00]: especially shots fired at Overwatch too, because for those who don't know,
[00:56:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Blizzard started locking characters behind battle pass progression
[00:56:05] [SPEAKER_00]: when Overwatch two started.
[00:56:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Or having you pay real money for them.
[00:56:10] [SPEAKER_00]: You could do either.
[00:56:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Which is the complete opposite of all character updates being free and existing
[00:56:15] [SPEAKER_00]: in the original Overwatch, because it was a paid product.
[00:56:19] [SPEAKER_00]: And when they got questioned on the Steve, when they questioned Blizzard
[00:56:22] [SPEAKER_00]: on this for, you know, fear of balancing concerns, okay, some, this
[00:56:25] [SPEAKER_00]: person doesn't even have this character who might be really good kid.
[00:56:29] [SPEAKER_00]: They even compete, you know, like that kind of stuff.
[00:56:32] [SPEAKER_00]: They said they're locking them behind battle pass or real money if you want,
[00:56:38] [SPEAKER_00]: because their characters are the biggest asset they have.
[00:56:43] [SPEAKER_00]: And so they had to leverage them for money if they're going free to play.
[00:56:48] [SPEAKER_00]: That's what they said.
[00:56:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that sounds like something they would say.
[00:56:53] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[00:56:53] [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm barely paraphrasing.
[00:56:54] [SPEAKER_00]: They did say the biggest asset they have.
[00:56:57] [SPEAKER_00]: They've walked that back since and characters are now free again,
[00:57:00] [SPEAKER_00]: because they have no idea what they're doing at Overwatch anymore.
[00:57:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Which is why I'm so interested in Marvel rifles to fill that hole in my heart.
[00:57:08] [SPEAKER_00]: I played Overwatch since beta on PS4, man.
[00:57:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Like I played it for years and years.
[00:57:13] [SPEAKER_00]: I need this again.
[00:57:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Marvel rivals looks like it's going to be at they looks, it looks like
[00:57:17] [SPEAKER_00]: they know exactly what they're doing.
[00:57:19] [SPEAKER_00]: They're coming for the king.
[00:57:21] [SPEAKER_00]: And by God, I hope they don't miss.
[00:57:24] [SPEAKER_01]: I may or may not have missed this.
[00:57:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Do they have a past system of their own that they've
[00:57:31] [SPEAKER_01]: shown off yet for this?
[00:57:32] [SPEAKER_00]: They probably do.
[00:57:34] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, being a free to play game, I mean, that that has to be
[00:57:36] [SPEAKER_00]: the monetization model, right?
[00:57:39] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's what I'm asking without characters.
[00:57:41] [SPEAKER_01]: What are they going to try and leverage to all of you at home?
[00:57:45] [SPEAKER_00]: That's a very good question.
[00:57:46] [SPEAKER_00]: I actually don't know.
[00:57:48] [SPEAKER_00]: It's different outfits of Spider-Man.
[00:57:50] [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I guess we'll see when it comes out what kind of monetization
[00:57:53] [SPEAKER_00]: it has, hopefully it's not too scummy.
[00:57:56] [SPEAKER_00]: All right, Steve, they showed something called masters of Albion.
[00:58:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Made by one Peter Molyneux.
[00:58:04] [SPEAKER_00]: And he got on the stage at Gamescom.
[00:58:09] [SPEAKER_00]: And was talking to Jeff Keely right there.
[00:58:11] [SPEAKER_00]: There he was Steve.
[00:58:14] [SPEAKER_00]: I legitimately cannot believe he was on stage there.
[00:58:18] [SPEAKER_00]: He had the balls.
[00:58:19] [SPEAKER_00]: That is wild as hell.
[00:58:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Please take the floor from me.
[00:58:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Say whatever you need to say about this.
[00:58:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Andre, who the hell let him out of the house?
[00:58:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Who asked him to be on stage?
[00:58:32] [SPEAKER_01]: And more importantly, who's going to believe a fucking word he says after
[00:58:36] [SPEAKER_01]: he fucked up goddess the way only he could.
[00:58:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Was that the mobile thing?
[00:58:42] [SPEAKER_01]: That was the mobile thing.
[00:58:44] [SPEAKER_01]: That was the thing that we all had the tap cubes.
[00:58:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Remember curiosity what's inside the cube.
[00:58:50] [SPEAKER_01]: And then we all tapped the cubes and the prize inside was a part in that
[00:58:54] [SPEAKER_01]: game that never came out or it sort of did anyway.
[00:59:00] [SPEAKER_01]: I can't believe no one should be believing a single word.
[00:59:03] [SPEAKER_01]: He says anymore, but you know, let's take a quick look at this as critically
[00:59:08] [SPEAKER_01]: as we possibly can around here.
[00:59:11] [SPEAKER_01]: He was live on stage with Jeff and he said there that he needs to go back
[00:59:15] [SPEAKER_01]: to PC and consoles after working on mobile things because you know,
[00:59:18] [SPEAKER_01]: they were too restrictive.
[00:59:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, fine.
[00:59:22] [SPEAKER_01]: I could respect that.
[00:59:23] [SPEAKER_01]: So then the trailer opens and pre-recorded my own news starts
[00:59:26] [SPEAKER_01]: talking with him saying masters of Albion is a, is unlike anything
[00:59:31] [SPEAKER_01]: we've ever seen before.
[00:59:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Followed by what looks like to be any number of village building
[00:59:38] [SPEAKER_01]: simulator games for our bone that we have seen before on YouTube ads.
[00:59:44] [SPEAKER_01]: We gained resources by day and feed them whatever's handy.
[00:59:48] [SPEAKER_01]: He seemed uniquely thrilled about feeding one villager rats for some
[00:59:53] [SPEAKER_01]: reason, and then later on it turns out we could possess followers or
[00:59:58] [SPEAKER_01]: be God yourself as you zap shit to death.
[01:00:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Andre, if I could believe what I'm seeing on screen, this is the most
[01:00:05] [SPEAKER_01]: mobile looking effort I've seen in a while at a time when people have
[01:00:09] [SPEAKER_01]: stepped up their effort in that space tremendously.
[01:00:14] [SPEAKER_00]: It was weird how proud of this.
[01:00:16] [SPEAKER_00]: He was, I think that's what made the whole thing so funny is that he
[01:00:19] [SPEAKER_00]: was just beaming like he just given birth himself to a child through his
[01:00:25] [SPEAKER_00]: loins, I guess that's how he feels about everything that he makes.
[01:00:27] [SPEAKER_00]: But in typical Peter Molyneux fashion, it just, it's like, bro, you're not.
[01:00:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Who do you, I was going to say who the fuck do you think you are?
[01:00:38] [SPEAKER_00]: But I know exactly who the fuck he thinks he is.
[01:00:40] [SPEAKER_00]: So never mind.
[01:00:41] [SPEAKER_00]: I made populace once.
[01:00:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Damn it.
[01:00:44] [SPEAKER_00]: You can play it right now on Sega Genesis mini.
[01:00:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh God, you can.
[01:00:50] [SPEAKER_00]: We sure can.
[01:00:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, but, uh, you know, a handful of people brought up, oh man,
[01:00:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Microsoft's going to sue for him using the name Albion.
[01:01:00] [SPEAKER_01]: And guys, I love a good popcorn retrieval, Jeff, as good as anybody,
[01:01:04] [SPEAKER_01]: but there's a very less funny reality to all this because a second of
[01:01:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Googling reveals that Albion is just a alternate name for Great Britain and
[01:01:14] [SPEAKER_01]: all kinds of names of things use it for branding like food and clothes.
[01:01:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Like kind of like how we'll label things US or American here, like on things
[01:01:27] [SPEAKER_01]: like that's the names of companies of things here.
[01:01:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
[01:01:31] [SPEAKER_01]: But, but really I wouldn't worry about any of that because to be real,
[01:01:35] [SPEAKER_01]: there's no way this game is coming out.
[01:01:37] [SPEAKER_01]: We're not seeing this game ever again.
[01:01:40] [SPEAKER_00]: So you're making this vapor wave, big vapor wave.
[01:01:44] [SPEAKER_00]: You're calling us a vapor wear right now.
[01:01:46] [SPEAKER_00]: It's not coming out.
[01:01:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, do you think Peter Molyneux likes vapor wave?
[01:01:56] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think he can spell wave vapor wave.
[01:01:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh my God.
[01:01:59] [SPEAKER_00]: That's rude.
[01:02:00] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure he's heard of it.
[01:02:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe his kids are into it.
[01:02:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe I'm into it.
[01:02:05] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm definitely into it.
[01:02:06] [SPEAKER_00]: If you've heard this show, um, they showed a animal crossing
[01:02:10] [SPEAKER_00]: lake called float Topia, but like Steve, no animal crossing, like
[01:02:15] [SPEAKER_00]: actually succeeds at being an animal crossing light.
[01:02:18] [SPEAKER_00]: They're never really that good.
[01:02:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Which kind of brings me to the question of like, why aren't they any good?
[01:02:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Like Disney dream light Valley seems like it should be good or that San
[01:02:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Rio one seems and they're just like not like, why can't anyone actually do this?
[01:02:33] [SPEAKER_01]: I feel like Disney wedge themselves in just by basis of being Disney.
[01:02:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Otherwise they wouldn't keep making these DLC pack passes.
[01:02:41] [SPEAKER_01]: They wouldn't.
[01:02:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Someone's been buying those.
[01:02:45] [SPEAKER_01]: I know my sister is, and sometimes she's showing me what's going on in
[01:02:48] [SPEAKER_01]: the load times are shitty on switch, but I digress.
[01:02:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh Lord.
[01:02:52] [SPEAKER_01]: I think the end is, is that in the end, new horizons was a phenomenon
[01:02:56] [SPEAKER_01]: exacerbated by a lockdown and if somebody was able to release something
[01:03:02] [SPEAKER_01]: like that under similar circumstances, we'd see if it could match that sort
[01:03:06] [SPEAKER_01]: of energy, but frankly I'm in no real rush for that specific
[01:03:10] [SPEAKER_01]: sequence of events to happen again.
[01:03:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[01:03:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I don't, I would, and look, if it did, people would just keep
[01:03:17] [SPEAKER_00]: playing new horizons.
[01:03:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Like they already have been these last four years.
[01:03:20] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think people are just going to float Topia cause it exists now.
[01:03:24] [SPEAKER_00]: People will go quote unquote back to new horizons.
[01:03:27] [SPEAKER_00]: One of the best selling video games of all time.
[01:03:31] [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, Steve, I'm laughing already because it's too funny.
[01:03:36] [SPEAKER_00]: They showed Indiana Jones and the great circle coming to PS five in spring.
[01:03:43] [SPEAKER_00]: It's coming out on Xbox in December, but just wait.
[01:03:47] [SPEAKER_00]: A few months, everybody.
[01:03:48] [SPEAKER_00]: You'll get it for a system that you already have.
[01:03:50] [SPEAKER_00]: They didn't even wait until the game was out.
[01:03:53] [SPEAKER_00]: They didn't even wait.
[01:03:55] [SPEAKER_00]: How desperate are they to turn a profit on this?
[01:03:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Like my God, that was shocking and hilarious.
[01:04:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Even though we knew this was happening eventually, that
[01:04:04] [SPEAKER_00]: was just like, come on man.
[01:04:06] [SPEAKER_01]: And for me eventually it was like, Oh, I don't know guys.
[01:04:11] [SPEAKER_01]: It'll be like a year, maybe two.
[01:04:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, but guy, if I had, if I bought an Xbox and didn't have
[01:04:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Xbox buyers remorse before, I definitely would now.
[01:04:23] [SPEAKER_00]: You're the only Indie Liker on this show.
[01:04:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Do you, are you even interested in this or?
[01:04:29] [SPEAKER_01]: It was very impressive visually, but as a video game, I wouldn't
[01:04:33] [SPEAKER_01]: have been paying more than 15 bucks for this.
[01:04:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Jesus Christ.
[01:04:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Not even a half off an Amazon sale.
[01:04:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Like it would need to be on an Amazon sale when they're on fire sale.
[01:04:45] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not buying this at on March, 2025 when it's coming to PS5.
[01:04:49] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not in the biggest rush, even though it's coming to a system I have.
[01:04:53] [SPEAKER_00]: All right.
[01:04:53] [SPEAKER_00]: Last thing we wanted to talk about was that they ended with
[01:04:56] [SPEAKER_00]: the reveal of mafia, the old country mafia is back everybody.
[01:05:00] [SPEAKER_00]: I can't really speak on mafia.
[01:05:02] [SPEAKER_00]: I've never really played one, but I know a lot of people are excited
[01:05:04] [SPEAKER_00]: about this, but I did read that they're dubbing the whole game in Sicilian.
[01:05:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Which I don't know, Steve, is that something people want?
[01:05:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Because I'm not sure that I would.
[01:05:16] [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like American mobster movies are the template for this kind of thing.
[01:05:20] [SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's the kind of depiction I would want.
[01:05:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Like, would you play it that way in Sicilian?
[01:05:26] [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's a bold move.
[01:05:27] [SPEAKER_01]: I haven't played mafia games either.
[01:05:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I know the PS4 versions are on the thing, whatever we got them for.
[01:05:33] [SPEAKER_01]: I'll play them soon, I guess now that this is coming, but you know,
[01:05:37] [SPEAKER_01]: it's the old country.
[01:05:38] [SPEAKER_01]: They're not going to sound like me, Capiche.
[01:05:40] [SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, I don't hate this idea on paper.
[01:05:44] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't hate it.
[01:05:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I guess I'll give it a listen, but I definitely don't want to,
[01:05:49] [SPEAKER_00]: you know, I want my fake, like, you know, Robert De Niro voices and shit.
[01:05:53] [SPEAKER_00]: That's that's that's that's Italian mob to me.
[01:05:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Sorry.
[01:05:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Sorry for being such an American.
[01:06:00] [SPEAKER_01]: You filthy American.
[01:06:01] [SPEAKER_00]: That's me.
[01:06:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Let's take a breather real quick.
[01:06:03] [SPEAKER_00]: We'll be right back with Nintendo.
[01:06:43] [SPEAKER_00]: All right, we're back.
[01:06:44] [SPEAKER_00]: We're cool.
[01:06:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Let's talk Nintendo.
[01:06:46] [SPEAKER_00]: They had a combination Indie World and partner showcase combo platter.
[01:06:51] [SPEAKER_00]: I like that behind the scenes here.
[01:06:52] [SPEAKER_00]: That's what Steve wrote in the notes.
[01:06:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Combo platter.
[01:06:54] [SPEAKER_00]: I like it.
[01:06:55] [SPEAKER_00]: That is what it is.
[01:06:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Did they air this back to back?
[01:06:58] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, what would you call it?
[01:07:00] [SPEAKER_00]: At least they had one throw to the other.
[01:07:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Hey, our partner showcase is starting right now.
[01:07:05] [SPEAKER_00]: At least they did that.
[01:07:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that would have sucked if we had to open a whole other video.
[01:07:10] [SPEAKER_00]: No.
[01:07:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I didn't think they were going to make us do that.
[01:07:13] [SPEAKER_00]: I just thought like, you know, they would just be one presentation and the other
[01:07:17] [SPEAKER_00]: just coldly, you know, not transition, but they did transition.
[01:07:22] [SPEAKER_00]: All right.
[01:07:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Let's start with the Indie World side and what did you like from here?
[01:07:26] [SPEAKER_00]: There wasn't a whole lot that stuck out here, but I do want to talk about
[01:07:29] [SPEAKER_00]: a few tidbits, start, start with something you liked.
[01:07:32] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, there's this oddity called Mothcubit.
[01:07:35] [SPEAKER_01]: You're like a moth and you're starting a job in an office and
[01:07:38] [SPEAKER_01]: you got to deal with bullshit.
[01:07:40] [SPEAKER_01]: I have a very hate, hate relationship with my job at the moment.
[01:07:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Like more than usual.
[01:07:46] [SPEAKER_01]: So right now this might be right up my alley when this
[01:07:50] [SPEAKER_01]: game comes out in spring.
[01:07:51] [SPEAKER_01]: We'll see.
[01:07:53] [SPEAKER_00]: It looked okay.
[01:07:54] [SPEAKER_00]: It didn't look bad.
[01:07:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Didn't really, didn't really do much for me though.
[01:07:56] [SPEAKER_00]: What did kind of do something for me is coffee talk Tokyo, which
[01:08:01] [SPEAKER_00]: didn't look half bad and look kind of fun, but like surely this isn't
[01:08:05] [SPEAKER_00]: the same devs as that one text adventure we all played a couple years
[01:08:08] [SPEAKER_00]: ago, the bartender one we mixed some drinks and then we chitty chat.
[01:08:12] [SPEAKER_00]: It almost looked exactly like that.
[01:08:14] [SPEAKER_01]: For those listening at home, the game they played was Valhalla.
[01:08:17] [SPEAKER_01]: And no, it's not from those people, but it is in that vein.
[01:08:20] [SPEAKER_01]: So says everybody.
[01:08:22] [SPEAKER_01]: I do have the first one in my archive somewhere to play, and
[01:08:27] [SPEAKER_01]: I still need to get around to it, but it's very much in that vein.
[01:08:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Lots of people like these.
[01:08:32] [SPEAKER_01]: I need to get started.
[01:08:34] [SPEAKER_00]: It seems exactly like something both of us would like, honestly.
[01:08:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Um, you interested in the sea of stars DLC?
[01:08:41] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not really going to go back, but you seem to want to, for one, they're
[01:08:45] [SPEAKER_01]: taking it away from us on Royale with cheese in the next week or so.
[01:08:49] [SPEAKER_01]: So we'll have to actually buy the game to play it.
[01:08:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Although I do have to point out that the circus theme is very appropriate
[01:08:55] [SPEAKER_01]: because everyone over there are a bunch of cloud.
[01:08:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[01:08:58] [SPEAKER_01]: I'll be nice because Kevin's not here and they didn't
[01:09:02] [SPEAKER_01]: announce silk song at all in this thing.
[01:09:05] [SPEAKER_01]: So I'll be nice.
[01:09:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, you liked it.
[01:09:10] [SPEAKER_00]: You liked it more than me.
[01:09:11] [SPEAKER_00]: You beat, you did like the secret endings and shit.
[01:09:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[01:09:14] [SPEAKER_01]: And that's what I was really mad at it because I did all that and
[01:09:17] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not getting into all that right now.
[01:09:19] [SPEAKER_00]: I knew better.
[01:09:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Um, morsels looked fucked up.
[01:09:23] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what you started to want it though.
[01:09:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah.
[01:09:26] [SPEAKER_00]: It looked great.
[01:09:26] [SPEAKER_00]: It looked, it started like, I dunno, you were like a poop and then
[01:09:30] [SPEAKER_01]: you like, you're like a literal shit.
[01:09:35] [SPEAKER_00]: And I kind of want this.
[01:09:38] [SPEAKER_00]: This seems like the kind of thing like binding of Isaac's that'll be like
[01:09:41] [SPEAKER_00]: rated in based on principle, just like you.
[01:09:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[01:09:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[01:09:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Conceptually gross, right?
[01:09:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Like, um, I guess, I guess Isaac goes a little farther than that, but.
[01:09:53] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it does.
[01:09:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[01:09:54] [SPEAKER_00]: But like morsels it looked really, I think that was like the standout
[01:09:57] [SPEAKER_00]: to everybody when I looked at social media, morsels really caught everyone's
[01:10:01] [SPEAKER_00]: eye for better or worse.
[01:10:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Steve, have you ever wanted a game where you could date everything?
[01:10:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Cause we're making a game called date everything.
[01:10:10] [SPEAKER_01]: See, I like this idea because a while ago when I did my day, the devs
[01:10:15] [SPEAKER_01]: rant on this show, I brought up another game called building relationships,
[01:10:19] [SPEAKER_01]: which felt like the less cynical version of this idea that I kind of like a
[01:10:23] [SPEAKER_01]: bit more also building relationships has fish again, the game.
[01:10:27] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
[01:10:28] [SPEAKER_01]: We'll see.
[01:10:28] [SPEAKER_01]: I'll probably end up playing both of these games eventually.
[01:10:31] [SPEAKER_00]: It didn't give me, if it had combat, I might've said it had a
[01:10:34] [SPEAKER_00]: boyfriend dungeon vibes, but it doesn't really seem like it has that.
[01:10:39] [SPEAKER_01]: No, they seem to be treating this one like a straight date.
[01:10:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Visual novel dates him.
[01:10:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Where's our boyfriend dungeon too, by the way, I feel like a Dayton
[01:10:47] [SPEAKER_00]: be it slutting it up over the summer and us talking about our wily ways.
[01:10:53] [SPEAKER_01]: And maybe they realized that there was no way they were going to top all
[01:10:57] [SPEAKER_01]: those and just gave up.
[01:10:59] [SPEAKER_00]: I hope not.
[01:11:00] [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like there's some life yet in the boyfriend dungeon.
[01:11:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, Canon, they showed something called Peglin, which they described
[01:11:07] [SPEAKER_00]: as their words of rogue, like Pachinko inspired RPG and Steve, that is
[01:11:13] [SPEAKER_00]: the most Indy ass indie game description I have ever heard in my
[01:11:17] [SPEAKER_00]: life, like that's just a fever dream.
[01:11:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Hey, what if we just mixed all these things together?
[01:11:22] [SPEAKER_00]: That's kind of what I mean.
[01:11:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Look, that's not a bad thing that any games do that, but boy, this, this
[01:11:27] [SPEAKER_00]: sure is that and I'm intrigued.
[01:11:29] [SPEAKER_00]: It looks cool.
[01:11:30] [SPEAKER_01]: I was also intrigued.
[01:11:31] [SPEAKER_01]: I was so intrigued that I found out that it's free to start on
[01:11:36] [SPEAKER_01]: my cell phone, telephone, and I did, and it's pretty cool.
[01:11:39] [SPEAKER_01]: And when I get a few more Google pretend bucks, I'm going to buy it there.
[01:11:45] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if I want to play.
[01:11:46] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean like that might be a cool tablet game, I guess, but I feel
[01:11:50] [SPEAKER_00]: like I want to get this on a system system, I don't know, kick back
[01:11:53] [SPEAKER_00]: in bed and play, I guess I can do that with the tablet too, but I don't know.
[01:11:56] [SPEAKER_00]: I just, I would like to have this on a system.
[01:11:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Steve, I felt like there was one more thing they ended with the
[01:12:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Indy showcase.
[01:12:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Was there one more?
[01:12:07] [SPEAKER_00]: I can't nothing I can think of.
[01:12:09] [SPEAKER_00]: No.
[01:12:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Huh?
[01:12:10] [SPEAKER_00]: I guess we should just move on.
[01:12:14] [SPEAKER_00]: All right.
[01:12:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Let's talk about this partner showcase.
[01:12:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Cause it was pretty meaty.
[01:12:18] [SPEAKER_00]: It started with Tetris forever, which Steve, I could not wrap my head
[01:12:22] [SPEAKER_00]: around.
[01:12:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe you can explain to me what this was.
[01:12:25] [SPEAKER_00]: It just looked like a collection of like very eight and 16 bit Tetris
[01:12:28] [SPEAKER_00]: assises that had probably never came out since then.
[01:12:33] [SPEAKER_01]: So digital eclipse.
[01:12:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh man, they have been busy.
[01:12:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it's like that.
[01:12:39] [SPEAKER_01]: This is part of their documentary series as I've soon later
[01:12:44] [SPEAKER_01]: discovered where they did Karateka and Jeff Minter.
[01:12:47] [SPEAKER_01]: This is their third one.
[01:12:49] [SPEAKER_01]: They're doing a whole bunch of Tetris games and that's including
[01:12:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Famicom Tetris, Hatrice, Tetris two and bombless super bombless
[01:12:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Tetris battle guide in super Tetris three.
[01:13:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Like there's a bunch of these in here.
[01:13:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Are you, you're not fucking with me.
[01:13:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Hatrice is here.
[01:13:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Hatrice it was on the list of things that was on the graphic.
[01:13:12] [SPEAKER_01]: They showed it's featuring these games.
[01:13:14] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like, I'm like, actress is real baby.
[01:13:18] [SPEAKER_00]: As I probably said on the show before, Hatrice always feels like a half
[01:13:23] [SPEAKER_00]: collected thought in my brain that I'm never sure is totally real.
[01:13:26] [SPEAKER_00]: I always have to remind myself.
[01:13:28] [SPEAKER_00]: That's a real game.
[01:13:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Hatrice and now here it is.
[01:13:32] [SPEAKER_01]: They also brought, they also said on the side, Hey, Hey,
[01:13:34] [SPEAKER_01]: the NES version of Tetris it's coming this winter.
[01:13:37] [SPEAKER_01]: It's we got it coming.
[01:13:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Which I found interesting because that hasn't made it out since the
[01:13:43] [SPEAKER_01]: original release, no virtual console, nothing, even though I feel
[01:13:46] [SPEAKER_01]: like everyone owns that game on it.
[01:13:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Really?
[01:13:49] [SPEAKER_01]: I thought that hit a virtual console or two.
[01:13:51] [SPEAKER_01]: No, not, not we or we, you or any.
[01:13:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[01:13:54] [SPEAKER_00]: It's interesting.
[01:13:55] [SPEAKER_00]: All of those.
[01:13:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I gotta be real.
[01:13:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't know it wasn't already on there already on
[01:14:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Nintendo switch online, but yeah, that's, that's super cool.
[01:14:03] [SPEAKER_00]: By the way, Tetris two when,
[01:14:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I did brief research and the Tetris two we're talking about
[01:14:12] [SPEAKER_01]: and not the Tetris two.
[01:14:13] [SPEAKER_01]: That's going to be on this thing is a Nintendo Tose thing.
[01:14:17] [SPEAKER_01]: So that may involve some handshakes and whatever with the, whoever
[01:14:23] [SPEAKER_01]: is in charge of this to slip on NSO.
[01:14:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's the one I like.
[01:14:28] [SPEAKER_01]: I love Tetris two.
[01:14:29] [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't know it was Tose, but I should have known honestly.
[01:14:33] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, with this out, I'm going to miss the Hatrice when you
[01:14:37] [SPEAKER_01]: cowards posts that Andre makes on our official account.
[01:14:42] [SPEAKER_00]: I'll have to move on to zoop now.
[01:14:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Full full bore zoop Steve.
[01:14:47] [SPEAKER_00]: They showed something called star overdrive and I don't think
[01:14:49] [SPEAKER_00]: that was running on switch.
[01:14:52] [SPEAKER_01]: There's always one every show and they wasted no time like,
[01:14:55] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah, this isn't the game running on switch.
[01:14:58] [SPEAKER_00]: I love how gun shy we are ever since Bayonetta three just
[01:15:01] [SPEAKER_00]: cured us forever.
[01:15:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Like we are just, we do not, if something looks too good
[01:15:07] [SPEAKER_00]: to be true, it is.
[01:15:09] [SPEAKER_01]: They wasted no time showing this off though.
[01:15:11] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, you know, this looks okay, but you know, this isn't a switch game.
[01:15:15] [SPEAKER_01]: You guys don't, don't lie to me.
[01:15:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[01:15:17] [SPEAKER_00]: If the game ran like that on switch, we wouldn't need a switch too,
[01:15:20] [SPEAKER_00]: but it doesn't run like that on switch.
[01:15:22] [SPEAKER_00]: So we do need a switch too.
[01:15:24] [SPEAKER_01]: They had a brief thing on a, you know, fitness boxing
[01:15:27] [SPEAKER_01]: through your personal street.
[01:15:28] [SPEAKER_01]: There's a bunch of these, I guess someone's buying them.
[01:15:31] [SPEAKER_01]: I just want to talk about for a second how there's a fatty mode
[01:15:33] [SPEAKER_01]: where you just sit down and can do exercises with it.
[01:15:36] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure they made it officially in the name of accessibility, but we
[01:15:42] [SPEAKER_01]: know why it's there through the people that were hoping for a classic
[01:15:46] [SPEAKER_01]: controller support on a we fit.
[01:15:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Us basically, basically.
[01:15:52] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's just, that's us.
[01:15:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe we're talking about that too.
[01:15:55] [SPEAKER_01]: That's four.
[01:15:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[01:15:56] [SPEAKER_00]: We're talking about ourselves here.
[01:15:58] [SPEAKER_00]: If I can sit down and play fitness boxing three, I would be.
[01:16:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[01:16:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Much more inclined Steve immediately after this though.
[01:16:06] [SPEAKER_00]: They showed something called Capcom fighting collection too.
[01:16:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Before you get in there, I need to let everyone know that I'm
[01:16:12] [SPEAKER_01]: still recovering from this mentally.
[01:16:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Me too.
[01:16:16] [SPEAKER_00]: I cannot believe this is a thing.
[01:16:19] [SPEAKER_00]: So if you'll allow me, let's ruminate through our thoughts.
[01:16:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[01:16:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Let's, let's go through this because much like the marvelous
[01:16:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Capcom collection that they announced last time, this collection is in
[01:16:32] [SPEAKER_00]: the bowl for a million reasons.
[01:16:34] [SPEAKER_00]: And I want to detail a few of them today because for people who are
[01:16:39] [SPEAKER_00]: just don't play fighting games or simply did not grow up in this
[01:16:42] [SPEAKER_00]: era, I think it's important to detail why.
[01:16:45] [SPEAKER_00]: So let's go through some of them.
[01:16:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Let's start with the value proposition, Steve, cause there's eight
[01:16:50] [SPEAKER_00]: games here and I'll list them now.
[01:16:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Capcom versus SNK or Capcom versus SNK pro, the further version
[01:16:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Capcom versus as gay to Capcom fighting evolution street fighter
[01:17:01] [SPEAKER_00]: alpha three upper project justice, power stone, power stone two and plasma sword.
[01:17:11] [SPEAKER_00]: My brother in Christ that is insane.
[01:17:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Clinically insane.
[01:17:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Steve last episode we were just talking about just a CVS collection.
[01:17:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Just that that's all we wanted.
[01:17:26] [SPEAKER_00]: And we would have paid 40 bucks for those two games.
[01:17:29] [SPEAKER_00]: We are the people that pay $20.
[01:17:31] [SPEAKER_00]: It's just for SVC chaos.
[01:17:34] [SPEAKER_00]: And it's not even that good.
[01:17:35] [SPEAKER_00]: It's interesting, but it's not even that good.
[01:17:38] [SPEAKER_00]: And we would have paid $40 just for the power stones or at least I would have.
[01:17:44] [SPEAKER_00]: I probably would have too, but they're all here together in one package.
[01:17:48] [SPEAKER_00]: How was this even possible?
[01:17:50] [SPEAKER_00]: And it turns out our supposition was right about Marvel versus Capcom
[01:17:54] [SPEAKER_00]: two where I said that was significant because it means they
[01:17:57] [SPEAKER_00]: figured out how to emulate Naomi.
[01:17:59] [SPEAKER_00]: The dream cast equivalent arcade board that these games ran on for those who
[01:18:04] [SPEAKER_00]: don't know and guess what both Capcom versus S and K's both power stones and
[01:18:09] [SPEAKER_00]: project justice all are on Naomi.
[01:18:12] [SPEAKER_00]: And now they're all coming out again.
[01:18:14] [SPEAKER_00]: So destiny fulfilled.
[01:18:16] [SPEAKER_00]: We were right.
[01:18:16] [SPEAKER_01]: And this soon, I mean, we were already, we were speculating about this when
[01:18:22] [SPEAKER_01]: they showed off a Terry in my for street fires.
[01:18:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Like we were just sitting around going, man, wouldn't it be good if they,
[01:18:27] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, gave us what we actually wanted.
[01:18:30] [SPEAKER_01]: And now we're here getting more than we can ever hope to get plasma sword.
[01:18:35] [SPEAKER_00]: If anyone ever spoke the sentence, Hey, you know, I think Capcom
[01:18:38] [SPEAKER_00]: should rerelease plasma sword.
[01:18:41] [SPEAKER_00]: It'd be like even on my radar.
[01:18:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[01:18:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Jesus man.
[01:18:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Just, just incredible stuff.
[01:18:48] [SPEAKER_00]: So street fighter alpha three has appeared on like other
[01:18:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Capcom collections, right?
[01:18:53] [SPEAKER_00]: But not this one.
[01:18:54] [SPEAKER_00]: This is street fighter alpha three upper the version that's on here.
[01:18:57] [SPEAKER_00]: This one has extra characters and stuff, much like the console versions did.
[01:19:02] [SPEAKER_00]: And they like reported that back to the arcade sometime in like, I
[01:19:05] [SPEAKER_00]: think early 2001 in Japan and only Japan.
[01:19:10] [SPEAKER_00]: And as I'm sure most people know in Japan, street fighter alpha is known
[01:19:13] [SPEAKER_00]: as street fighters zero, which means that this game is called street fighter
[01:19:18] [SPEAKER_00]: zero three upper in Japan, which means that they had to do some work to
[01:19:23] [SPEAKER_00]: make the street fighter alpha three upper here, they they're like doing
[01:19:27] [SPEAKER_00]: some work on the backend here.
[01:19:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Now it's not that much.
[01:19:31] [SPEAKER_00]: You're just changing, you're playing musical chairs with the character
[01:19:34] [SPEAKER_00]: names, right?
[01:19:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Like usual and you're making the title screen say something different.
[01:19:39] [SPEAKER_00]: And you already have the clips of the announcer street fighter alpha three.
[01:19:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Like we already have all that stuff, right?
[01:19:45] [SPEAKER_00]: It's not like a gargantuan effort, but it is an effort.
[01:19:49] [SPEAKER_00]: They could have just thrown street fighters zero three upper on here.
[01:19:52] [SPEAKER_00]: And we would have said whatever, but they didn't do that.
[01:19:55] [SPEAKER_00]: I love that they're taking the extra mile here, going the extra mile rather.
[01:20:00] [SPEAKER_01]: I keep saying it, but we really are eating good for old hats looking
[01:20:04] [SPEAKER_01]: for re releases of all these old games, especially ones that we
[01:20:08] [SPEAKER_01]: may have never even touched before.
[01:20:10] [SPEAKER_00]: We are in a blessed time.
[01:20:12] [SPEAKER_00]: We are in such a blessed.
[01:20:13] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Jesus Christ.
[01:20:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, they're going to also remind us of a less blessed time because
[01:20:20] [SPEAKER_00]: the full trailer, the not the one in this direct, but the full
[01:20:24] [SPEAKER_00]: trailer that you could look at on Capcom's channel says eight beloved
[01:20:28] [SPEAKER_00]: games at the beginning, more like seven beloved games featuring Capcom
[01:20:34] [SPEAKER_00]: fighting evolution because that game sucks straight up Capcom.
[01:20:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Fighting evolution is just trash.
[01:20:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Have you ever played this?
[01:20:43] [SPEAKER_01]: I haven't, but I'm going to be a wise old man and say, don't
[01:20:46] [SPEAKER_01]: let perfect be the enemy of Andre.
[01:20:48] [SPEAKER_01]: We're fucking getting Capcom versus SNKs and a fuck ton of
[01:20:52] [SPEAKER_01]: other things in the same package.
[01:20:53] [SPEAKER_00]: I know, I know.
[01:20:55] [SPEAKER_00]: It's just unbelievable.
[01:20:56] [SPEAKER_00]: They saw it fit to include this.
[01:20:58] [SPEAKER_00]: The game that killed Capcom fighting games for like five years until
[01:21:02] [SPEAKER_00]: street fighter four came out.
[01:21:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes we just need to be reminded.
[01:21:05] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think we do.
[01:21:07] [SPEAKER_01]: That's why street fighter one is in the street fighter set.
[01:21:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[01:21:11] [SPEAKER_00]: But that's actually amusing.
[01:21:13] [SPEAKER_00]: That game is funny.
[01:21:14] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to do the.
[01:21:16] [SPEAKER_01]: We're pretty good.
[01:21:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah.
[01:21:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, that would be a good segment.
[01:21:23] [SPEAKER_00]: That'd be a good segment.
[01:21:24] [SPEAKER_00]: We play something from a video game.
[01:21:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Like I play a clip from the soundboard and then you try to do it the best you can.
[01:21:30] [SPEAKER_01]: That's a good workshop.
[01:21:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[01:21:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[01:21:32] [SPEAKER_00]: I keep that.
[01:21:33] [SPEAKER_00]: That's why I'm saying it out loud.
[01:21:34] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to keep this in the episode just so everyone will hold us
[01:21:37] [SPEAKER_00]: accountable if we forget to do that.
[01:21:40] [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, no, I'm not saying, I mean, look, it doesn't ruin it for me.
[01:21:44] [SPEAKER_00]: It's just funny that it literally said eight beloved games.
[01:21:47] [SPEAKER_00]: And it's like, nah, dog.
[01:21:49] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't, I don't think so.
[01:21:50] [SPEAKER_01]: They got to say.
[01:21:52] [SPEAKER_01]: What are they going to put down seven beloved games and, and a
[01:21:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Capcom fighting evolution.
[01:21:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[01:21:58] [SPEAKER_01]: That's not going to fit well in the ad copy.
[01:22:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Remember the Konami arcade collection thing that came out some years ago?
[01:22:07] [SPEAKER_00]: And it was like, it says arcade collection, but it's really seven
[01:22:09] [SPEAKER_00]: schmups featuring haunted castle.
[01:22:12] [SPEAKER_01]: We, I was just talking about that with Vin yesterday when,
[01:22:15] [SPEAKER_00]: well, yep, we'll get there.
[01:22:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we'll get there in a sec.
[01:22:18] [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, naturally when compilations like this come about, there's always
[01:22:22] [SPEAKER_00]: some emissions that come to mind.
[01:22:24] [SPEAKER_00]: And there's a few for me in particular, Steve, which are in this case, rival
[01:22:29] [SPEAKER_00]: schools, star gladiator and tech romancer.
[01:22:33] [SPEAKER_00]: And like, look, I understand they can't include everything.
[01:22:36] [SPEAKER_00]: I am not looking at gift horse in the mouth.
[01:22:38] [SPEAKER_00]: This is incredible that this collection even exists.
[01:22:41] [SPEAKER_00]: They could charge a hundred dollars for this collection and they're
[01:22:44] [SPEAKER_00]: undercharging us straight up.
[01:22:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[01:22:47] [SPEAKER_00]: So I'm not complaining.
[01:22:49] [SPEAKER_00]: It's just weird that the sequels are here.
[01:22:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, project justice is the sequel to rival schools.
[01:22:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Plasma sword is the sequel to star gladiator, you know, but not the originals.
[01:22:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Did you think that was strange to not have like the marquee name, rival
[01:23:02] [SPEAKER_00]: schools, but go like project justice?
[01:23:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[01:23:07] [SPEAKER_01]: After the shock settled in, I, I did find that to be a little strange, but
[01:23:13] [SPEAKER_01]: I think you kind of nailed it already.
[01:23:15] [SPEAKER_01]: More collections are going to be in the future and that's okay.
[01:23:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Can't, can't give away the whole store.
[01:23:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, that's just it.
[01:23:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Do you want to hear my big brain idea for the next one?
[01:23:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Here's what I'm thinking they're going to do.
[01:23:28] [SPEAKER_00]: They're going to do like the PS1 era.
[01:23:30] [SPEAKER_00]: You're going to have rival schools, star gladiator, but it's going
[01:23:33] [SPEAKER_00]: to be anchored by the street fighter EX series.
[01:23:37] [SPEAKER_00]: What do you think?
[01:23:39] [SPEAKER_01]: I think that's plausible in the next year.
[01:23:43] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not confident on when they announced the stuff anymore.
[01:23:46] [SPEAKER_01]: I wasn't expecting this as soon as we got it anyway.
[01:23:49] [SPEAKER_00]: The only hard part about street fighter EX though, is that Erika
[01:23:53] [SPEAKER_00]: owns those characters that aren't Capcom ones, I think.
[01:23:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Because I'm sure they play ball.
[01:23:59] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure they play ball too, because all those characters are in like
[01:24:02] [SPEAKER_00]: fighting EX layer and shit like that.
[01:24:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Like they were, they just scola mania, uh, crackerjack, like all of them
[01:24:08] [SPEAKER_00]: are D dark, I think doctrine dark.
[01:24:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Like all those are in like, uh, fighting EX layer.
[01:24:15] [SPEAKER_00]: So I think they have the rights to those, but yeah, I think why wouldn't
[01:24:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Arika play ball?
[01:24:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Come on.
[01:24:20] [SPEAKER_01]: They're not allergic to money.
[01:24:21] [SPEAKER_01]: I've seen what they make.
[01:24:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they better not be.
[01:24:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, um, man.
[01:24:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, also at the end of this, after they showed us that after they blew our
[01:24:30] [SPEAKER_00]: mind, I almost didn't catch that they showed the release date for Marvel
[01:24:34] [SPEAKER_00]: versus Capcom collection, which is September 12th, I think next month,
[01:24:38] [SPEAKER_00]: regardless, whatever date it is.
[01:24:40] [SPEAKER_01]: It is soon.
[01:24:41] [SPEAKER_00]: My God, man.
[01:24:44] Just.
[01:24:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Ooh, great stuff.
[01:24:46] [SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, sorry for talking so long.
[01:24:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Talk about something else you liked on here.
[01:24:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I don't know about liked, but, uh, I would be remiss if I, uh,
[01:24:56] [SPEAKER_01]: didn't bring up that the Telly, uh, Yumi was here.
[01:24:59] [SPEAKER_01]: The alchemist of memories in the envisioned land.
[01:25:01] [SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, I played two of these on this show now.
[01:25:04] [SPEAKER_01]: And I talked about one on this episode and it'd be kind of weird
[01:25:07] [SPEAKER_01]: if I didn't bring it up.
[01:25:09] [SPEAKER_01]: It's just kind of weird looking at an Atelier protagonist that looks
[01:25:13] [SPEAKER_01]: like she knows what she's doing from the jump.
[01:25:17] [SPEAKER_01]: That's all I got.
[01:25:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Am I going to play this?
[01:25:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it didn't even look like a Telly.
[01:25:24] [SPEAKER_00]: It looked really different.
[01:25:26] [SPEAKER_00]: I was actually kind of intrigued by this.
[01:25:28] [SPEAKER_01]: There were a few telltale signs because there are certain things
[01:25:31] [SPEAKER_01]: that have a style, no matter how you dress it up.
[01:25:35] [SPEAKER_01]: But this isn't the airhead that says I know.
[01:25:41] [SPEAKER_00]: That I feel like that they're out of that archetype.
[01:25:44] [SPEAKER_00]: They need to move on from that.
[01:25:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully because that's always been kind of a
[01:25:49] [SPEAKER_00]: turnoff as a characterization.
[01:25:50] [SPEAKER_00]: If they can make it something a little more grounded and maybe.
[01:25:54] [SPEAKER_00]: I know this is really stupid to say about Atelier, but
[01:25:57] [SPEAKER_00]: a little more cerebral, I could probably get into its gameplay.
[01:26:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Steve, one of the best shadow drops maybe ever next
[01:26:07] [SPEAKER_00]: in Castlevania Dominus collection.
[01:26:11] [SPEAKER_00]: The three DS games plus haunted castle
[01:26:14] [SPEAKER_00]: and a remake of haunted castle for 25 bucks.
[01:26:19] [SPEAKER_00]: What the fuck?
[01:26:20] [SPEAKER_00]: It is out right now.
[01:26:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Steve, Jesus Christ.
[01:26:25] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, look, we all knew this was coming after advanced collection,
[01:26:28] [SPEAKER_00]: but like this.
[01:26:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Don, this is fucking spectacular because for one, I still need to play
[01:26:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Order of Ecclesia.
[01:26:34] [SPEAKER_01]: That's like one of my blank spots.
[01:26:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
[01:26:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Did not know that.
[01:26:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[01:26:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[01:26:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Two, I love how M2 found all the workarounds they needed
[01:26:42] [SPEAKER_01]: to for the touchscreen things.
[01:26:44] [SPEAKER_01]: So Kevin can shut up about, you know, having to draw a seal.
[01:26:47] [SPEAKER_00]: I think you can make it a quick time event now, right?
[01:26:50] [SPEAKER_00]: You just press.
[01:26:51] [SPEAKER_01]: There were options you can do if you're not playing with things
[01:26:55] [SPEAKER_01]: that have those kinds of things.
[01:26:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Right.
[01:26:58] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm playing on Steam Deck here so I could probably just touch
[01:27:00] [SPEAKER_00]: the screen and do it.
[01:27:01] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure they would let me.
[01:27:03] [SPEAKER_01]: And under the fucking fixed haunted castle, you know, just because
[01:27:08] [SPEAKER_01]: the advanced collection has a super Nintendo fake Rondo of blood.
[01:27:13] [SPEAKER_01]: This, this one has, you know, fixed haunted castle.
[01:27:16] [SPEAKER_00]: How dare you?
[01:27:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[01:27:18] [SPEAKER_00]: How dare you speak that way about Dracula X?
[01:27:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, Dracula X.
[01:27:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[01:27:22] [SPEAKER_00]: So the name slipped for a second.
[01:27:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they did more than fix haunted castle Steve.
[01:27:28] [SPEAKER_00]: They remade haunted castle M2.
[01:27:31] [SPEAKER_00]: What the fuck?
[01:27:32] [SPEAKER_00]: What are you even on?
[01:27:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Why are you the way you are?
[01:27:36] [SPEAKER_00]: And please never stop being that way.
[01:27:38] [SPEAKER_00]: And I wouldn't be doing my due diligence on the show if I didn't
[01:27:42] [SPEAKER_00]: play it at least a little bit before I got on the airhead, air,
[01:27:45] [SPEAKER_00]: airhead air here and I did play it.
[01:27:48] [SPEAKER_00]: And let me tell you, it's cool.
[01:27:51] [SPEAKER_00]: It's you know what it is, Steve.
[01:27:53] [SPEAKER_00]: It's haunted castle rebirth.
[01:27:55] [SPEAKER_00]: It's exactly like their rebirth trilogy on we wear.
[01:27:58] [SPEAKER_00]: That's exactly the kind of production value is here.
[01:28:01] [SPEAKER_00]: It almost the way the whip even looks, looks exactly like
[01:28:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Castlevania, the adventure rebirth.
[01:28:07] [SPEAKER_00]: It's uncanny.
[01:28:08] [SPEAKER_00]: They probably took it exactly from that.
[01:28:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Then I I've been holding off because you know, money, but soon soon.
[01:28:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[01:28:19] [SPEAKER_00]: You gotta, you gotta try it.
[01:28:20] [SPEAKER_00]: It's not okay.
[01:28:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Look, it's not spectacular, right?
[01:28:23] [SPEAKER_00]: It's it's very low budget.
[01:28:26] [SPEAKER_00]: It's just a cool little remake, you know, and in general, just, just thing.
[01:28:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[01:28:31] [SPEAKER_00]: No.
[01:28:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I understand.
[01:28:32] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm just saying that like, Oh wow.
[01:28:34] [SPEAKER_00]: A haunted castle.
[01:28:35] [SPEAKER_00]: It don't, don't get your expectations too high.
[01:28:37] [SPEAKER_00]: It's just a nice graphical facelift and it's not a one to one remake either.
[01:28:41] [SPEAKER_00]: It's not the exact same game.
[01:28:43] [SPEAKER_00]: And which is great.
[01:28:44] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it better not be.
[01:28:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[01:28:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I mean, look, you know why?
[01:28:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, by the way, the version of haunted castle that they included on here, they,
[01:28:53] [SPEAKER_00]: they included the least fucked up one, which is, which is good.
[01:28:57] [SPEAKER_00]: M2 knew what was up.
[01:28:58] [SPEAKER_00]: They included like one of the Japanese ones.
[01:29:00] [SPEAKER_00]: You can't play any of ours because they're so they're impossible.
[01:29:04] [SPEAKER_01]: That was the mistake I made when playing the shmup collection
[01:29:07] [SPEAKER_01]: featuring haunted castle.
[01:29:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[01:29:08] [SPEAKER_00]: No, you need to turn it to Japanese.
[01:29:10] [SPEAKER_00]: There's no point in playing ours.
[01:29:12] [SPEAKER_00]: It's it's ridiculous.
[01:29:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Have you ever seen the haunted castle flyer arcade?
[01:29:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[01:29:18] [SPEAKER_00]: It's great.
[01:29:19] [SPEAKER_00]: I posted the blue sky last night.
[01:29:21] [SPEAKER_00]: I, cause I love that thing.
[01:29:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, great stuff.
[01:29:25] [SPEAKER_00]: I can't wait to dig into those games again.
[01:29:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[01:29:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Me and Trey will do another podcast about those next year for sure.
[01:29:32] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm promising now they show tales of grace is F remastered.
[01:29:36] [SPEAKER_00]: And I think it's about time they do that.
[01:29:38] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm here for it.
[01:29:39] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't really have much to say about it, but I'm happy.
[01:29:42] [SPEAKER_00]: That's one.
[01:29:42] [SPEAKER_00]: I, one of the PS3 era ones that kind of passed me by.
[01:29:46] [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I'm here for it.
[01:29:48] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I never played it, but sure.
[01:29:50] [SPEAKER_01]: I guess I can get over my distaste for how they handled symphonia.
[01:29:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, oh, didn't handle symphonia.
[01:29:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, Namco bandai came out right away and said this would be 60 frames a second.
[01:30:02] [SPEAKER_00]: They actually had a press release about it.
[01:30:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Would you like no shit?
[01:30:07] [SPEAKER_00]: So they, they know what's up.
[01:30:08] [SPEAKER_00]: They knew what they did.
[01:30:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
[01:30:11] [SPEAKER_01]: I found this to be fairly interesting that that I've ever actually played any of
[01:30:15] [SPEAKER_01]: these, but they showed off the my Sims cozy bundle.
[01:30:17] [SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be a remaster really of my Sims plus my Sims kingdom.
[01:30:23] [SPEAKER_01]: The children love this thing.
[01:30:25] [SPEAKER_01]: At least the ones out by me, like I feel like that was at everybody's house with
[01:30:28] [SPEAKER_01]: the children and a we until they stopped making them, I guess EA wants to see if
[01:30:33] [SPEAKER_01]: they can capitalize on the life sim craze.
[01:30:35] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, the one that we established was mostly animal crossing new horizons
[01:30:39] [SPEAKER_01]: earlier, but at 40 bucks, I don't know, they might actually move a few
[01:30:43] [SPEAKER_01]: copies.
[01:30:44] [SPEAKER_01]: They're not coming down and saying, this is worth $60.
[01:30:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Is it literally called my Sims cozy bundle?
[01:30:51] [SPEAKER_00]: I, but I think the package is called that.
[01:30:53] [SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[01:30:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
[01:30:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Um, I mean, look, whatever.
[01:30:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[01:30:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't, I've never played these in the we year.
[01:30:59] [SPEAKER_00]: I was, I mean, I hate to say it too old for these.
[01:31:02] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't mean to sound like that guy, but you know, I was damn near
[01:31:05] [SPEAKER_00]: in my mid to late twenties.
[01:31:07] [SPEAKER_00]: So I mean, I'm not really interested in my sense, but yeah, for anyone
[01:31:10] [SPEAKER_00]: who wants that, that's great.
[01:31:12] [SPEAKER_00]: There was a sizzle reel, which I don't really have anything to say, but
[01:31:14] [SPEAKER_00]: did show Epic Mickey rebushed, which is coming out very soon.
[01:31:18] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't really have anything to say about it except one thing guys.
[01:31:23] [SPEAKER_00]: If you have any other system, anything at all, love yourself and get Epic
[01:31:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Mickey rebushed on something other than switch love yourself, please.
[01:31:36] [SPEAKER_00]: That's all I got to say.
[01:31:39] [SPEAKER_01]: I've been doing the more like you say in research because everyone's
[01:31:43] [SPEAKER_01]: been real cagey about this.
[01:31:46] [SPEAKER_01]: I I've been just trying to find out this whole time, will the switch
[01:31:49] [SPEAKER_01]: version support pointer control so I can have my paint and thinner, you
[01:31:54] [SPEAKER_01]: know, pew, pew, pew, you know, like that, because that for me would
[01:31:59] [SPEAKER_01]: make any kind of graphical downgrade worth it if I could play it
[01:32:02] [SPEAKER_01]: like I did on week.
[01:32:03] [SPEAKER_01]: There's no way.
[01:32:05] [SPEAKER_01]: And it took a lot of digging around to finally find the Oracle that says,
[01:32:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh no, all the versions are going to play like on a basic gas controller.
[01:32:14] [SPEAKER_01]: So it's going to be PS five version for me.
[01:32:17] [SPEAKER_01]: What a wasted opportunity.
[01:32:19] [SPEAKER_01]: All this was when I finally get to this, there's no way in the world
[01:32:23] [SPEAKER_00]: you would look at a game that looks like that.
[01:32:25] [SPEAKER_00]: So you could have pointer controls.
[01:32:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Please tell me that is not true.
[01:32:29] [SPEAKER_01]: I know you didn't play the game back in the day, but it
[01:32:31] [SPEAKER_01]: was almost magical that way.
[01:32:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Look at it, brah.
[01:32:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Like what?
[01:32:38] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
[01:32:39] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm telling you, I got screwed on an HD McEpic Mickey thing before.
[01:32:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[01:32:46] [SPEAKER_00]: I, I'm not even going to get into it.
[01:32:48] [SPEAKER_00]: They ended with Yakuza Kiwami, which is weird.
[01:32:51] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not sure why they're making a very late switchboard of this.
[01:32:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe they're just testing the waters.
[01:32:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Do people want like a dragon on switch now?
[01:32:58] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure people have been asking for that anyway, but to start
[01:33:01] [SPEAKER_00]: with the very first one, I guess that's like a, or a remake of the
[01:33:05] [SPEAKER_00]: first one, I guess that's a good way to go much like my Sims.
[01:33:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Sega's got this one price to move at 20 bucks.
[01:33:12] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not like they're going to put this at $60 and say, and then come out
[01:33:15] [SPEAKER_01]: two months later and say, well, no one bought Yakuza Kiwami on switch.
[01:33:19] [SPEAKER_01]: I wonder why it seems like they're actually giving it a fair chance on here.
[01:33:24] [SPEAKER_01]: I feel like a lot of people should have been trying that a lot sooner
[01:33:27] [SPEAKER_01]: with different things that they can quickly port or what I feel like
[01:33:30] [SPEAKER_01]: switched have been doing that the whole time.
[01:33:31] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know why they, anyway, I don't know.
[01:33:34] [SPEAKER_00]: I might we'll see.
[01:33:36] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't see why you would do that when you could just play it on
[01:33:39] [SPEAKER_00]: PS five for like two cents and just like, or even like,
[01:33:43] [SPEAKER_01]: well right now it's on 20.
[01:33:44] [SPEAKER_01]: It's still 20 bucks on PS five, but I guess it is on sale all the time.
[01:33:48] [SPEAKER_00]: It's often on Royale with cheese.
[01:33:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes it goes off, but there are a lot of times on there too.
[01:33:53] [SPEAKER_01]: One day I'm finally going to start playing Yakuza Andre.
[01:33:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't.
[01:33:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, okay.
[01:33:58] [SPEAKER_00]: You want to, I've played Yakuza zero, but I haven't dove that.
[01:34:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Dove that far dove dove that far into Yakuza Kiwami.
[01:34:06] [SPEAKER_00]: If you ever want to take that plunge with me or you want to make
[01:34:08] [SPEAKER_00]: your own personal journey, that's fine too.
[01:34:10] [SPEAKER_00]: But you know, I'm putting you on the spot right now in the air.
[01:34:13] [SPEAKER_00]: If you want to have a Yakuza journey with me, I'll take it with you.
[01:34:17] [SPEAKER_00]: We'll see.
[01:34:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
[01:34:19] [SPEAKER_00]: That's a no.
[01:34:20] [SPEAKER_00]: That's a no everybody.
[01:34:21] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not, I know it's a, I don't have the game yet.
[01:34:24] [SPEAKER_00]: No, that's a no.
[01:34:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Everyone knows at home.
[01:34:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Everyone's heard that before we'll see maybe next time.
[01:34:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Right?
[01:34:32] [SPEAKER_00]: I know how this goes.
[01:34:33] [SPEAKER_00]: That's fine.
[01:34:33] [SPEAKER_00]: I'll get over it.
[01:34:34] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, I need to end the show now.
[01:34:36] [SPEAKER_00]: I need to drown my sorrows in something.
[01:34:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[01:34:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Why don't we just get out of here?
[01:34:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Um, thanks for listening guys.
[01:34:43] [SPEAKER_00]: We love doing these shows.
