Intro intro the show.
Tommy:Oh. Hey, guys. Hello and welcome to Video Games Analyzed. This is the show that I came up with to discuss video games as an art form more in-depth. I'm an expert in video games and and we're talking about retro, no, classic video games and we're gonna tell you whether they're worth playing today or not.
Tommy:Sometimes they're not. And I've I've got a guest again this week and this week's guest is Aaron. Hey, Aaron.
Aaron:Hey. Hey. Hey, Tommy. Thanks for thanks for asking me on. It's great to be here.
Aaron:Do you validate parking by the way? I I went to I I went to park my car and there's no one there to take the tickets. So I Wasn't this wasn't on the cards for the script.
Tommy:I I don't I don't know how to respond to that. Stick stick to the
Aaron:cars, please. Uh-huh. Alright. I'll okay. Hey.
Aaron:Thanks, Tommy.
Tommy:We'll we'll just let's k. Let's can we try it?
Aaron:Hey, Aaron. Hey. Hey, Tommy.
Tommy:Let's talk about video games. Please do. Today please stop. Today's video game is a classic that everyone knows. It's Final Fantasy VII.
Tommy:It's That's a seven. Published by
Aaron:That's a seven in Roman numerals. What? That's a No.
Tommy:No. It's it's from Japan. Oh. Square Square published it. And it's the story follows cloud strife.
Tommy:The the planet's life there's life force to process Mako. I I'm gonna be honest, I I got really confused by a lot of the story. There's there's just a lot of it, but I I did enjoy selecting commands to to attack people. Mhmm. Did you did you have a better luck with it, Aaron?
Aaron:I did. I first first of all, I I I just now am realizing you're supposed to start on disc one and not disc three. But but, yeah, I it it I loved it. I thought it was a great game. I came in expecting a turn based RPG, went out playing in a a turn based RPG, and music done by legendary Nobuo Uematsu wait.
Aaron:Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Sorry. Nobuo Uematsu.
Aaron:Soundtrack is is excellent, and I think Sephiroth was a great antagonist. I mean, his sword is unrealistic. It there's no way there's no way they make a sword that big. Tommy, there's no way. A
Tommy:it is a video game though. I I I know that like, there are some games that try to capture realism and I don't think Final Fantasy VII was is necessarily going for I mean, was also like the summons as well and some of them could be really long. Those aren't real either. I don't I don't know if you went into this thinking it was like a a simulator or something, but
Aaron:Well, it's it's the seventh Final Fantasy, or the VII, Final Fantasy. I assume there would be some degree of realism here, but it none of it's here. Regardless, I, thought it was a good game. Again Yeah. Turn based Yeah.
Aaron:Materia, cloud. Well,
Tommy:and don't another thing to to mention about this game that other games also do it, this one is another game that does it, is it has a world to explore. And the more the more you explore the world, the more of the the world that you see. And when it comes to to games like this, that's kind of like one of the things that you wanna do is is make sure that you explore the world. And since this one has it's got that world to explore, so that that kind of fits with what what the player enjoys doing. Right?
Aaron:Yeah. Yeah. I mean, yeah. You there's a there's a big map and you walk around it. There's lots of towns to discover.
Aaron:Did Sephiroth do this? Yeah. Yeah. Overall Yeah. Yeah.
Tommy:Cool. Yeah. Let's let's let's get to our our scores. I'll summing up again, Final Fantasy VII, it's a good game. I enjoyed playing it and I think that when you compare it to other video games, it's it's definitely, you know, it's it's it's one of them.
Tommy:And I would give it four and three quarters stars. I'm I'm dropping it a quarter just because again there's there's a lot of talking.
Aaron:Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yep. You know what, Tommy?
Aaron:I love the game. I I would play it again all the way through like a a third time if need be. So I'll give it one star and maybe I'll just give it like a What? A pack of Rolos, you know?
Tommy:Okay. K. I thought I thought we said we'd have a minimum three stars. So I'll just I'll just add a couple to your score when I when I put it on the website.
Aaron:But wait. But the the katana, I the the you can't make a sword that big, Tom. Okay.
Tommy:Okay. So thanks thanks for listening again to the to the episode and check out our next one where next week we're gonna we're gonna discuss another classic video game. Keep keep on gaming.
