[00:00:13] Hello and welcome to Gaming Together, a cooperative podcast. Each pod we play through a cooperative experience and relay to you, the listener, if this game is the creme de la creme of co-op or something better off playing solo. I'm your host, Nave, and we don't have any co-op partners today.
[00:00:28] Now, I didn't know what I wanted to do. I've been playing a lot of games lately and I really wanted to have somebody on for this but I didn't want to go another week without having a game.
[00:00:42] Um, I don't know why that is. So, I felt like I'm just going to go ahead and pull the trigger on this game that doesn't seem to be getting a lot of love in the pod circle that we run in.
[00:00:53] Uh, I couldn't really find. I only really found one person and they were just incredibly busy. So, I am going to be talking about Outlast Trials.
[00:01:04] But, before we get to that, uh, that will be at the end of the, that will be in the later half. Big review there. We're going to be talking about the games that I've been playing besides Outlast Trials.
[00:01:18] Now, regular listeners know that I've been playing Metaphor ReFantasio quite a bit.
[00:01:24] And I've been promising for months that I'm going to complete this game and I come to you guys with good news.
[00:01:33] I am finally free of this not incredibly long JRPG but still a fairly long ordeal.
[00:01:43] Um, I see in all of my friends, my mutual friends that have been playing this game, especially in the Elder Trolls.
[00:01:52] I was talking to Nick who is wrapping the game up as well. I was kind of giving him some, uh, tips and tricks and stuff.
[00:02:00] Uh, the game is a little long in the tooth at the end. And I'm man enough to admit that.
[00:02:06] But I also threw the game up into S tier.
[00:02:09] Because I'm a man of conviction.
[00:02:14] Alright? I'm an evangelist. Evangelical Sega lover.
[00:02:22] Sega enjoyer.
[00:02:23] So, it is a tepid S tier for me.
[00:02:27] Uh, the second game of the year to go into the tier list.
[00:02:34] Um, yeah.
[00:02:35] If the game was any longer, I probably would have, it probably would have been pulled down to A.
[00:02:39] I think the problem with the ending of the game is that, and I'm not going to spoil anything, obviously.
[00:02:45] But, uh, I think the problem with the ending of the game is that they kind of run out of narrative.
[00:02:51] And so, they kind of start just reiterating and like, I don't know, repeating themselves.
[00:02:59] Uh, one thing that I heard from, uh, Sacred Symbols, and I thought that it was really apt, was, I think it was just a Dustin Furman that said it.
[00:03:06] But, whenever, they say this is the final battle, like, a couple of dozen times.
[00:03:14] Like, we're going into the final battle, yada yada.
[00:03:18] And, um, that's like 10 hours.
[00:03:21] When they start saying that, it's like 10 hours before the game is over.
[00:03:25] Which is pretty incredible.
[00:03:27] But, um, I was taking the game very slowly.
[00:03:30] Uh, so I was hitting all these story beats, like, a couple of days apart, uh, at most.
[00:03:38] And, I don't know.
[00:03:39] I still just kind of really adored it.
[00:03:40] I played it similarly to the way that I play, like, Yakuza games.
[00:03:43] Where I'm, like, very aware that they're going to be very long.
[00:03:46] This game is not as long as Persona 5.
[00:03:49] Um, for sure.
[00:03:51] And I definitely would say that the game is, I don't know how long it clocked.
[00:03:55] But, uh, I would leave the game on, like, repeatedly.
[00:03:57] So, I think I'm, like, at 180 hours or something.
[00:04:00] But that's not how long I actually took to play.
[00:04:02] It took me to play the game.
[00:04:04] But, yeah.
[00:04:06] I'm saying that, like, a lot of, like, I would play a couple of Yakuza games I played for longer than this.
[00:04:10] And Dragon Age, uh, not Dragon Age.
[00:04:13] But, uh, Dragon Quest 11 is, like, 50 hours longer than this game.
[00:04:17] Like, no shit.
[00:04:19] And it's, like, 10, I would say it's, like, 10% as interesting as Metaphor is.
[00:04:24] The problem with Metaphor is that, like, a lot of the really compelling shit happens in the first, like, two-thirds of the game.
[00:04:30] Which means it's, like, oh, if you're going to play an 80-hour long game and the first two-thirds are just inaccurate.
[00:04:35] Then, I mean, that's really awesome.
[00:04:37] But people usually tend to remember the outing, right?
[00:04:42] The end.
[00:04:43] They try to, they tend to, like, have that recency bias kind of thing going on.
[00:04:47] And I don't blame people because a lot of people were saying they were skipping the dialogue and stuff.
[00:04:53] I continued to read the dialogue.
[00:04:54] You know, I had, I teared up at the end.
[00:04:56] You know, there's a lot of, like, cool cutscenes and stuff.
[00:04:58] But it's very similar to Persona 5 Royal where you get, like, a victory lap where you can go around, talk to people.
[00:05:07] And if you don't, if you talk to them, they give you an item.
[00:05:11] It's not, like, it's the people who you did your links with.
[00:05:14] I don't know if you get the item if you didn't max them out.
[00:05:16] I maxed everybody out.
[00:05:19] I don't know how you play this game and don't max the people out because it's, like, playing Mass Effect and not doing the, not doing the side quests for your, for your crew.
[00:05:30] The loyalty missions.
[00:05:32] That's, like, half of what this game is about, really, is doing those things.
[00:05:37] Some are better than others, but, I mean, obviously, that's just how things are.
[00:05:41] You're going to have, like, 12 side missions and they're all going to be the exact same quality.
[00:05:46] It's insane.
[00:05:47] But I really, really enjoyed my time with Metaphor.
[00:05:50] I was ready for it to end.
[00:05:52] But in Sega RPG fashion, I was sad when it ended.
[00:05:59] Yes, tier.
[00:06:01] Yep.
[00:06:01] I'm glad I played it.
[00:06:02] I'm very happy with my purchase.
[00:06:07] I'm happy I got a lot of people onto it, even though some people seem to not be happy with the ending.
[00:06:12] That's okay.
[00:06:15] Now, I'm moving on from Metaphor.
[00:06:18] I wanted something very different.
[00:06:20] So, I picked probably, like, the complete polar opposite of what could be, you know, compared to Metaphor.
[00:06:27] And that is Stalker 2.
[00:06:28] Which is basically a hardcore first-person shooter sim kind of thing.
[00:06:35] It's not really a sim.
[00:06:38] But it is a hardcore first-person shooter.
[00:06:40] And it's kind of difficult on the Xbox.
[00:06:42] I'm not going to lie.
[00:06:43] I get into a lot of firefights and I die.
[00:06:47] Because every time I die, I'm usually, like, if I had a mouse and keyboard, I probably would have survived this.
[00:06:52] I'm having, like, trouble aiming from, like, medium to long distances with my assault rifle.
[00:06:58] There's not a whole lot of aim assist, I assume.
[00:07:03] Maybe there is and I just am not really feeling it.
[00:07:06] But, I don't know.
[00:07:08] I die in this game all the time.
[00:07:12] Like, I haven't played a whole lot and I've already racked up, like, 46 deaths.
[00:07:16] And the game keeps track, which is fucking infuriating.
[00:07:20] I'm going to be completely honest.
[00:07:23] Because the game is so hard.
[00:07:24] And it is just happy to kill you.
[00:07:27] It's so happy.
[00:07:28] Like, one time I dropped down, like, an 8-foot drop onto, like, a pile of rubble, which should have softened my fall.
[00:07:35] And I instantly died.
[00:07:36] Like, I just broke my ankles and died.
[00:07:38] And I was like, oh, okay.
[00:07:40] How far back do I have to go now?
[00:07:42] And I had to reload, like, fucking 15 minutes back.
[00:07:46] Very annoying.
[00:07:48] There's a lot of things that are like that.
[00:07:49] But the game's atmosphere is immaculate.
[00:07:52] And it kind of makes up for it.
[00:07:54] Especially because I spend, like, 25 minutes, like, meticulously looking over this area.
[00:08:00] And then die to, like, a random explosion.
[00:08:04] And then I'm like, okay, it takes me 25 minutes back.
[00:08:07] But it only takes me, like, three minutes to get back to where I actually was.
[00:08:10] Because I don't have to re-explore everything again.
[00:08:12] I just kind of know where everything's at.
[00:08:14] Um, I got drunk on, uh, on the weekend.
[00:08:20] And I was getting furious at this fucking part where the game auto-saved after I dropped down into a cave.
[00:08:28] And then I was one-on-one, mono-e-mono with this fucking mutant that goes invisible.
[00:08:35] And it will hit you at least four or five times.
[00:08:38] And I did not have any heals.
[00:08:41] And I just would die over and over and over again trying to kill this guy.
[00:08:47] And so, and I, and of course, like, it's kind of like Fallout where, like, you get, you're collecting.
[00:08:52] It's a lot like Fallout, actually.
[00:08:54] Like, Fallout and Metro had a baby.
[00:08:55] But, um, you had a, you have, like, a backpack and you're filling it up with shit.
[00:08:59] And you can get over-encumbered.
[00:09:00] And it makes your stamina go down faster.
[00:09:02] And, like, all that fucking jizz.
[00:09:03] All that jazz.
[00:09:05] All that jizz.
[00:09:06] It's really cool.
[00:09:07] But the thing I want to highlight the most about Stalker 2 is the atmosphere, particularly the sound design, is immaculate.
[00:09:15] Like, I forget who made Stalker 2, what the development, what the dev's name is.
[00:09:21] But they should be proud of themselves.
[00:09:23] Because this is a game where it's like Hellblade 2 levels.
[00:09:27] Where you should be playing this with headphones on.
[00:09:30] And if you aren't, you are doing yourself a complete disservice.
[00:09:34] Because it is so immersive that I just lose hours because I'm just lost in this world.
[00:09:43] Like, the only time I get taken out of it is when I die a couple of times in one area.
[00:09:47] Like, in rapid succession.
[00:09:49] Because the loading times are a little bit long.
[00:09:51] But, I mean, the game looks pretty fucking good too.
[00:09:53] So, even if it is a little janky.
[00:09:56] I take a sip of my root beer.
[00:09:59] The sound design is amazing.
[00:10:01] So, you will like, it'll like start raining.
[00:10:04] And you're walking around.
[00:10:05] And you're walking by these, like, abandoned cars.
[00:10:07] And you hear, like, the water hitting the top of the cars.
[00:10:10] And then you go into a building.
[00:10:12] And then it kind of mutes the rain.
[00:10:16] And it just, it sounds like such little simple tiny touches.
[00:10:20] But it just makes me feel so awesome.
[00:10:23] Whenever I recognize the amount of effort that's been put in.
[00:10:29] The gunfire from a distance is really cool.
[00:10:31] There are, like, there are these storms that happen.
[00:10:34] And, like, lightning will strike right next to you.
[00:10:37] And it makes me fucking piss myself every time that happens.
[00:10:41] It doesn't help that I'm genuinely scared of electricity.
[00:10:44] So, like, that is just a fucking horror for me.
[00:10:47] To just get shocked.
[00:10:48] Like, I hate that.
[00:10:50] I hate that idea.
[00:10:53] Electricity should have never been invented.
[00:10:55] Honestly.
[00:10:56] We would be better off without it.
[00:10:58] But, uh, the game itself, uh, it plays fine.
[00:11:05] It's very janky.
[00:11:06] So, it's hard for me to recommend to people.
[00:11:08] Other than, like, very, like, video game enthusiasts or audiophiles need to experience this.
[00:11:14] People who are, who want Sims to get immersed into.
[00:11:19] They're gonna love this if they can get over the difficulty curve.
[00:11:23] Um, I think I'm playing on the medium difficulty.
[00:11:25] So, I kind of did this to myself.
[00:11:27] Because the difficulty is, like, fuck yourself.
[00:11:30] It's, like, it's, like, this is for babies.
[00:11:32] Go fuck yourself.
[00:11:34] And this isn't even a game anymore.
[00:11:36] Those are the three difficulties, basically, is what it, what was relayed to me from the beginning.
[00:11:40] Um, and, of course, I was, like, I'm a big boy.
[00:11:42] But I, I don't want to die of a fucking stroke, uh, today.
[00:11:47] So, which was a good choice.
[00:11:48] Because I am getting mad on the medium difficulty.
[00:11:51] I'm getting very mad at a couple of different parts.
[00:11:53] Um, like, I got mogged by a fucking bunch of dogs.
[00:11:58] Um, like, there are just dogs roaming.
[00:12:01] And, you know, what's really funny.
[00:12:03] So, Luna, my, my newer dog.
[00:12:06] She, I think she's an Australian Kelpie.
[00:12:09] I think that's what kind of dog she is.
[00:12:10] If I remember correctly.
[00:12:12] And, um, she howls.
[00:12:14] Like a, like a husky or whatever.
[00:12:16] Like all, like the dogs that howl.
[00:12:18] Molly doesn't give a shit about fake dog sounds.
[00:12:20] She can immediately tell.
[00:12:22] Like, even if it's my voice coming through the TV.
[00:12:24] She can tell that that's a synthetic voice.
[00:12:26] I don't know how.
[00:12:27] But she's just always kind of been that way.
[00:12:30] Besides maybe a few.
[00:12:31] Like a loud noise.
[00:12:32] You know what I mean?
[00:12:32] She'd be like, oh, what the fuck was that?
[00:12:35] Luna, though.
[00:12:35] She is, like, she just hears things.
[00:12:38] And, like, she turns her head.
[00:12:40] Like, fucking, she gets, like, her ears go up.
[00:12:42] She's like, what the fuck was that?
[00:12:44] I'm concerned.
[00:12:45] And so, like, you can turn on a video on YouTube of, like, dogs howling.
[00:12:49] And then she will start howling as well.
[00:12:51] It's fucking adorable.
[00:12:53] I love it.
[00:12:54] Um, but why am I talking about this?
[00:12:59] Oh, I got fucking mugged by a bunch of dogs.
[00:13:02] Just fucking gangbanged a couple of times.
[00:13:04] And so every time you shoot them, though, they start whining.
[00:13:06] You know, does the very sad dog cry and it's awful.
[00:13:09] But doing that, like, doing that once, Luna doesn't really notice.
[00:13:13] But, like, hearing, like, eight or nine of them in rapid succession, she started getting genuinely, like, upset.
[00:13:19] Like, she was, like, about to tackle the TV.
[00:13:21] Because she was, like, there.
[00:13:23] Someone needs help.
[00:13:25] Like, why is no one reacting to this?
[00:13:27] Because obviously someone needs help.
[00:13:29] And so that was very fun.
[00:13:33] Uh, what else is going on in that game?
[00:13:37] Not much.
[00:13:38] I'm kind of doing the story a little bit.
[00:13:40] But I'm mostly just kind of wandering around, just looking at stuff.
[00:13:42] I really enjoy the, uh, WiiWoo, like, sci-fi about it.
[00:13:48] Like, it reminds me a little bit of that Atomic Heart game with the water that kind of is, like, gel or whatever.
[00:13:56] But there are, like, giant pockets of gas or something.
[00:14:02] Like, there's something weird going on.
[00:14:04] And if you get caught in it, it will fuck you up.
[00:14:06] Uh, don't get caught in it.
[00:14:09] I don't know.
[00:14:10] It's very fucking cool.
[00:14:11] So, for all of those people that I described earlier, I think that this game is right up your alley.
[00:14:16] Don't sleep on it.
[00:14:17] It's on Game Pass.
[00:14:18] It's probably worth your money.
[00:14:20] And all, they released all of the old ones as well on, uh, consoles.
[00:14:25] I have the old ones on PC.
[00:14:28] And that's where I originally played them.
[00:14:29] And went, this is way too hardcore for me.
[00:14:31] And, uh, never picked them up again.
[00:14:33] But now I'm a big boy.
[00:14:35] And I understand big boy games.
[00:14:36] So maybe I'll be able to do it.
[00:14:37] I don't know.
[00:14:38] I can't even play Metal Gear Solid and, uh, keep my fucking head on straight.
[00:14:41] So, maybe that's not true.
[00:14:45] Stalker 2.
[00:14:46] Uh, a lot of 2s in this, by the way.
[00:14:49] Every single game past metaphor is a sequel.
[00:14:52] But, uh, Killing Floor 2.
[00:14:54] Killing Floor 2 is basically just Call of Duty Zombies, but on crack.
[00:14:59] Uh, and heroin maybe also.
[00:15:02] So, um, it's very neat.
[00:15:04] This is a game I'm playing with Casey.
[00:15:06] We're having a lot of fun.
[00:15:07] Uh, I bought it for her for $1.50 on sale.
[00:15:11] So, and I bought it for Dontre as well.
[00:15:14] But we haven't played yet because he's too busy playing Space Marine still.
[00:15:18] Um, Killing Floor 2 is very fun.
[00:15:21] It's very silly.
[00:15:22] It makes me feel like I'm playing Gary's Mod.
[00:15:24] Which is adorable, obviously.
[00:15:26] And there's a lot of people that are playing this game.
[00:15:29] Probably because it's cheap.
[00:15:30] But, I mean, like, there's a lot of people.
[00:15:31] Every time I start a lobby up, uh, it gets filled up within, like, the second or third wave.
[00:15:35] You can do really short games.
[00:15:37] Just waves of four.
[00:15:38] Me and Casey have, there are, like, collectibles in every level.
[00:15:41] And each level has an achievement tied to getting ten of them.
[00:15:45] Which there's, like, maybe 30 collectibles.
[00:15:48] Or, I'd say, like, 20.
[00:15:49] Uh, like, 20.
[00:15:50] And you only have to find ten.
[00:15:53] Uh, for most levels.
[00:15:54] Like, you only have to find ten for all levels, I'm pretty sure.
[00:15:57] But, like, for most levels, I think there's, like, 20.
[00:16:00] Sorry.
[00:16:00] I'm confusing.
[00:16:02] But, Killing Floor 2.
[00:16:05] Oh, yeah.
[00:16:05] So, I mean, that's what we've been doing.
[00:16:06] Which, we have, I've basically just been going down the list.
[00:16:09] Like, loading up each level.
[00:16:10] We look for the fucking things.
[00:16:12] Uh, sometimes when we, when you break one or two.
[00:16:14] Like, everyone's like, oh, shit.
[00:16:15] We're collectible hunting.
[00:16:16] These guys need achievement.
[00:16:17] And then they'll start helping us.
[00:16:18] Which is pretty cool.
[00:16:19] But the collectibles generally are not that hard to find.
[00:16:22] It's basically, like, you see an area.
[00:16:24] And it looks neat.
[00:16:25] You're like, this.
[00:16:26] There's a collectible here somewhere.
[00:16:27] I just gotta find it.
[00:16:29] And so, uh, that's been fun.
[00:16:32] Uh, I've been the gunslinger.
[00:16:34] Uh, Casey's doing the fire bug.
[00:16:37] Uh, which is, uh, you know.
[00:16:39] It's a game where, like, you have different classes.
[00:16:41] And they all level up and stuff.
[00:16:44] Uh, nothing really super special.
[00:16:46] But it is fun if you like just being, like, it's a brainless, mindless, just turn your, turn your thoughts off.
[00:16:54] And listen to music.
[00:16:56] Listen to a podcast.
[00:16:57] Listen to the, to the soundtrack of Killing Floor.
[00:17:00] It's not that bad.
[00:17:00] It's just fucking, uh, knock off doom metal.
[00:17:03] You know what I mean?
[00:17:06] Not doom metal.
[00:17:07] But, like, video game doom.
[00:17:09] Because doom metal is a genre.
[00:17:12] Alright.
[00:17:14] Overcooked 2.
[00:17:15] Going back to Overcooked.
[00:17:17] You know, something to get angry about.
[00:17:19] Um, I bought all the DLC.
[00:17:21] I bought one of the DLCs a long time ago.
[00:17:24] Because I wanted to play with Phillip.
[00:17:25] And Phillip was like, eh.
[00:17:27] I think this was back whenever we didn't want to really, like, go over games again.
[00:17:32] Because Overcooked 2 was a pretty early on episode, I think so.
[00:17:36] I would really like to open this up for an episode, though, to do the DLC.
[00:17:41] Because I don't think Phillip, I own all the DLC.
[00:17:44] And I'm playing it with Casey.
[00:17:45] You don't, I don't need, we all don't need to have the DLC in order to play together.
[00:17:49] Just the host.
[00:17:50] Just, so, I bought the DLC.
[00:17:52] And then now Casey's playing with me.
[00:17:54] I think if, I'm going to talk to Phillip about this.
[00:17:56] But he's going to edit this so he'll hear it.
[00:17:58] But, like, I want to do, I want to do Overcooked 2 again.
[00:18:01] And just do all the DLC.
[00:18:02] And we don't have to beat them.
[00:18:04] We just have to get far enough for him to get the achievement that he got.
[00:18:08] He cooked every, one of every meal.
[00:18:10] And then just move on to the next DLC.
[00:18:12] Because all of them are literally, there's not like a, there's a narrative.
[00:18:16] But I mean, like, who gives a fuck?
[00:18:18] Um.
[00:18:18] Um.
[00:18:19] So, I've been enjoying that.
[00:18:20] Over, I mean, not really.
[00:18:21] It's very frustrating.
[00:18:23] Uh.
[00:18:23] I'm grinding out some achievements.
[00:18:25] There's, like, some extra stuff.
[00:18:26] Like, throw logs on things.
[00:18:27] And wash dishes with the water gun and shit like that.
[00:18:30] And so it's like, you know, just grinding shit out like that.
[00:18:34] Uh.
[00:18:35] But that's been fun.
[00:18:37] And then the last sequel.
[00:18:38] The last game I've been playing.
[00:18:40] I restarted Lost Judgment.
[00:18:43] And by restarted, I mean, I didn't restart.
[00:18:46] I don't know why I said that.
[00:18:47] I put this game down for a long time.
[00:18:49] And then forgot about it.
[00:18:51] So I've been, like, thinking about, like.
[00:18:53] So I've been on this Japanese journey for a little while now.
[00:18:56] I might talk about it.
[00:18:57] I'm not quite sure.
[00:19:00] But I've been on the Japanese journey.
[00:19:01] I don't know if I'm going to be able to commit to the entire year.
[00:19:04] Because it's very intimidating.
[00:19:06] But I am still kind of going hard on the paint.
[00:19:10] Uh.
[00:19:10] I'm.
[00:19:11] I know last week I was like, I'm not learning kanji.
[00:19:14] You know, I was joking.
[00:19:15] Well, really, I was like, I'm not learning katakana.
[00:19:17] And then Phillip was like, you just need to learn kanji.
[00:19:18] And I was like, I'll just be a master at hiragana.
[00:19:22] Um.
[00:19:23] And so.
[00:19:24] Well, I'll talk about it in a minute.
[00:19:26] I don't know why I'm talking about it now.
[00:19:27] So, Lost Judgment.
[00:19:30] I was in the mood.
[00:19:32] I know why now.
[00:19:32] I was in the mood to play a Yakuza game.
[00:19:36] Because I want to just hear Japanese.
[00:19:39] And I realized that I'd never beat Lost Judgment.
[00:19:42] And so I'm back in the grind set.
[00:19:45] Uh.
[00:19:45] Just kind of doing random stuff.
[00:19:47] I'm hearing a lot of wakata.
[00:19:49] I'm hearing a lot of, uh.
[00:19:51] Well, I don't know.
[00:19:52] I'm hearing a lot of random phrases.
[00:19:53] I can't fucking recall one off the top of my head.
[00:19:57] Uh.
[00:19:57] Besides wakata.
[00:19:58] And, uh.
[00:20:01] Uh.
[00:20:01] It's neat.
[00:20:02] I haven't really played a whole lot.
[00:20:03] I mean, I say it's neat.
[00:20:04] I do prefer Yakuza over the Judgment series.
[00:20:07] But I'm happy that the Judgment series exists.
[00:20:10] I'm just really excited for the Majima game.
[00:20:12] I'm just.
[00:20:13] I'm batting down the hat just for that.
[00:20:15] I remember in Lost Judgment.
[00:20:17] I'm doing the side quest grind.
[00:20:18] I'm trying to get all the case files for, like, uh.
[00:20:22] The high school.
[00:20:23] Like, doing all of their little things.
[00:20:25] Um.
[00:20:26] I remembered why I stopped playing.
[00:20:28] Because I was getting really pissed off at, like, this robot.
[00:20:31] Like.
[00:20:32] Uh.
[00:20:33] Robot Wars.
[00:20:34] Uh.
[00:20:35] Like, mini game.
[00:20:36] It's fucking kind of frustrating.
[00:20:38] Um.
[00:20:40] So.
[00:20:41] I.
[00:20:41] Yeah.
[00:20:41] I started doing something else.
[00:20:42] And then I put it down.
[00:20:43] But.
[00:20:43] Now that I'm playing it again.
[00:20:44] I think I'm going to go try to do the casino stuff.
[00:20:47] And.
[00:20:48] See what that's all about.
[00:20:49] I do have the DLC.
[00:20:51] The Kaito files.
[00:20:52] The Kaito files.
[00:20:53] Um.
[00:20:53] I would like to do that as well.
[00:20:55] That's probably going to tie me up for a little while.
[00:20:57] But.
[00:20:58] I got a couple of games that I'm pushing up.
[00:21:00] The fucking.
[00:21:00] I'm pushing up the backlog.
[00:21:04] Uh.
[00:21:04] I might as well talk about them.
[00:21:05] Just randomly.
[00:21:06] Uh.
[00:21:07] I talked to somebody.
[00:21:08] And they.
[00:21:09] They convinced me that I should really check out Tales of Samara.
[00:21:11] Symphonia.
[00:21:12] Which.
[00:21:13] I've never played.
[00:21:14] But I do own.
[00:21:15] I recently bought like the remaster or whatever on Xbox.
[00:21:18] And.
[00:21:19] I also heard from.
[00:21:21] Nick at night.
[00:21:22] Whenever I was telling him about the metaphor stuff.
[00:21:24] That he is recommending.
[00:21:26] I go back.
[00:21:27] And play.
[00:21:27] I'm pretty sure it was Citizen Sleeper.
[00:21:30] Yes.
[00:21:31] Citizen Sleeper.
[00:21:32] Which I just went to download it.
[00:21:35] On my Xbox.
[00:21:36] Nick.
[00:21:36] I know you're listening.
[00:21:37] Um.
[00:21:38] I already had it downloaded.
[00:21:40] So.
[00:21:40] 27 steps ahead of you.
[00:21:42] 4D chess.
[00:21:44] Get.
[00:21:44] Get cooked nerd.
[00:21:45] I am already in the game.
[00:21:47] I have.
[00:21:47] It's probably been downloaded for like.
[00:21:49] Five months.
[00:21:50] And I forgot that it even existed.
[00:21:52] I do that so much.
[00:21:54] Where I go to buy a game.
[00:21:56] On the.
[00:21:56] Uh.
[00:21:57] On the Xbox.
[00:21:57] You know.
[00:21:58] Store or whatever.
[00:21:59] Or at least wish list it or something.
[00:22:01] And then I realize I already own it.
[00:22:03] So that's been a fun.
[00:22:05] That's been a fun trip down.
[00:22:11] Onset Alzheimer's.
[00:22:12] From all the.
[00:22:15] Uh.
[00:22:16] Sapporo I drink.
[00:22:17] I don't know.
[00:22:18] What I'm fucking talking about man.
[00:22:19] So those are the two games.
[00:22:20] That I'm pushing up the fucking.
[00:22:22] The backlog.
[00:22:23] I really want to beat.
[00:22:25] Um.
[00:22:27] What is that game?
[00:22:29] Uh.
[00:22:31] Disco Elysium.
[00:22:33] Uh.
[00:22:34] But I think I'm only like a third of the way through that.
[00:22:36] So.
[00:22:37] And I know it's long.
[00:22:39] Damn man.
[00:22:40] There's just not enough time for video games.
[00:22:42] You know what I'm saying?
[00:22:43] There's so many things.
[00:22:44] It's like.
[00:22:44] Oh man.
[00:22:45] I want to do chess.
[00:22:46] It's like.
[00:22:46] I want to do Japanese now.
[00:22:48] And then it's like.
[00:22:48] But I also want to study chess.
[00:22:50] And I also want to learn more guitar.
[00:22:51] I want to practice guitar more.
[00:22:53] It's like.
[00:22:54] Where.
[00:22:54] Where do video games fit in all of this?
[00:22:57] So.
[00:22:58] The way that the video games fit in all this.
[00:22:59] Is that.
[00:23:00] I play Rocksmith for guitar.
[00:23:02] I do Duolingo for the languages.
[00:23:04] And then I play.
[00:23:06] Is there a chess game?
[00:23:08] Outlast Trials.
[00:23:09] Is the chess game.
[00:23:10] Honestly.
[00:23:11] So.
[00:23:12] We'll get into that a little bit.
[00:23:14] But you know.
[00:23:14] I'm a chess master at Outlast Trials.
[00:23:18] Alright.
[00:23:19] Well.
[00:23:19] That was the games I've been playing.
[00:23:21] I mean.
[00:23:21] I guess that's my backlog too.
[00:23:23] I mean.
[00:23:23] I don't know what the fuck that was.
[00:23:24] I'm just trying to fill up some time.
[00:23:25] How long have we been going?
[00:23:27] 23 minutes?
[00:23:27] That's not too bad.
[00:23:29] It's not too bad.
[00:23:31] Pat good old Knave on the back.
[00:23:34] 23 minutes straight of just non-stop talking into your ears.
[00:23:39] Alright.
[00:23:39] What did Knave buy?
[00:23:42] Everybody's favorite section.
[00:23:43] I haven't been buying much lately.
[00:23:44] But today.
[00:23:45] I did end up caving in and buying Beyond Good and Evil.
[00:23:48] The 20th anniversary edition.
[00:23:51] After I did this.
[00:23:52] I realized Beyond Good and Evil was backwards compatible.
[00:23:57] On Xbox.
[00:23:59] So.
[00:24:00] That's pretty fun.
[00:24:05] But yeah.
[00:24:06] So the backwards compatible version was the Xbox Live Arcade.
[00:24:08] Which has less achievements on it.
[00:24:12] So.
[00:24:13] Yeah.
[00:24:13] Who cares about that?
[00:24:14] Right?
[00:24:15] Not me.
[00:24:17] I'm just trying to get my gamer score.
[00:24:19] Trying to check to see if I bought anything else.
[00:24:22] Uh.
[00:24:24] No.
[00:24:24] I did not buy anything else.
[00:24:26] Uh.
[00:24:26] Beyond Good and Evil 20th anniversary edition.
[00:24:29] The 1000 gamer score edition is what I'm going to call it.
[00:24:32] I'm going to.
[00:24:33] I don't know if it has anything different from the HD version that released like a decade ago on the 360.
[00:24:38] But.
[00:24:39] Uh.
[00:24:40] I do need to get back around to trying this.
[00:24:43] Uh.
[00:24:43] It just seems like a cultural touchstone.
[00:24:45] You know.
[00:24:48] There's just so many games that I haven't played.
[00:24:51] And not enough time.
[00:24:52] Uh.
[00:24:53] For new pod updates.
[00:24:54] Philip wrote in and he said he.
[00:24:56] He thinks that the original RuneScape is good.
[00:25:00] Thank you, Philip.
[00:25:01] I don't know why he's playing original RuneScape when he wants to play the other game.
[00:25:05] Maybe he just wants to.
[00:25:07] You know.
[00:25:08] Diversify the portfolio a little bit.
[00:25:11] But.
[00:25:12] You know.
[00:25:12] Next week.
[00:25:13] We're going to be doing that game.
[00:25:15] That.
[00:25:15] The original RuneScape makers were making.
[00:25:17] Basically do RuneScape 3.
[00:25:18] And so I'm really.
[00:25:19] Excited.
[00:25:22] Or as RuneScape 3 already exists.
[00:25:24] So we like RuneScape 4.
[00:25:25] I guess.
[00:25:26] I don't know.
[00:25:28] Anyway.
[00:25:29] Patreon section.
[00:25:30] Here at Gaming Together.
[00:25:31] We work hard to provide excellent co-op content for you, the listener.

[00:25:42] Jose Martinez, BerserkerThis, Mr. Kwong, InsaneCracker04, and Nikolai at Night.
[00:25:46] Thank you for your support.
[00:25:51] Go to our Spotify.
[00:25:53] Go give us some comments.
[00:25:54] Go rate us.
[00:25:55] It really helps us a whole lot if you don't have any money for us.
[00:25:58] Or if you don't feel like spending on us.
[00:26:01] Or go to Apple.
[00:26:02] YouTube.
[00:26:03] Rate us.
[00:26:04] Comment.
[00:26:04] I don't think you can.
[00:26:05] Oh, you can leave review, like, comment things on Apple.
[00:26:09] I haven't checked that in probably a year.
[00:26:11] But we don't really get too many.
[00:26:13] Like, when people rate us on Apple, it is usually there's no, like, words.
[00:26:18] Right?
[00:26:20] But how would I know?
[00:26:22] So, we're going to hit the break.
[00:26:24] We're supposed to do the AMI the asshole.
[00:26:27] But I think I'm going to not do that.
[00:26:28] I don't want to do that whenever it's just me.
[00:26:30] It feels awkward.
[00:26:31] It feels like bullying, maybe.
[00:26:32] I don't know.
[00:26:33] If this is a bad idea, listeners, at least one of you, write in.
[00:26:38] Give us some feedback on Blue Sky on Twitter or whatever.
[00:26:41] Doesn't matter.
[00:26:42] But I'm not doing the AMI the assholes until somebody tells me otherwise.
[00:26:47] Because I don't know if it's worth it to waste one of the AMI the assholes
[00:26:50] without being able to bounce it off of somebody.
[00:26:54] So, we're going to hit the break.
[00:26:55] We're going to go into the review.
[00:26:57] Or we're going to the Japanese section, I guess.
[00:26:59] I don't know.
[00:26:59] Whatever I feel like.
[00:27:01] I'm going to go piss.
[00:27:17] Okay.
[00:27:18] You know, what's really funny is that when I got up, grabbed my phone,
[00:27:22] you know, just cruising around on my phone,
[00:27:25] I realized that I'm still live streaming on Twitch.
[00:27:30] So, it's just been the, like, idle screen for the Xbox.
[00:27:34] Like, the default one.
[00:27:36] Because I live streamed the end of...
[00:27:40] The end of Outlast Trials.
[00:27:43] Because I realized I didn't actually get to the end.
[00:27:45] So, technically, Metaphor for E-Fantasio was the first game I completely beat the campaign to.
[00:27:52] But, I mean, who gives a shit?
[00:27:53] Right?
[00:27:55] I don't know.
[00:27:55] I was listening to something and I was...
[00:27:57] They were talking about, you know, veganism and it being ethical.
[00:28:01] It seems like a left field.
[00:28:02] Like, this is just what I'm thinking.
[00:28:05] I was listening to somebody talk about that and I was like,
[00:28:07] it's really interesting in 2025 hearing that kind of thing.
[00:28:11] Like, that kind of rhetoric.
[00:28:12] But, I mean, I guess it makes sense.
[00:28:13] Right?
[00:28:14] Like, the ethical dilemma that vegans have.
[00:28:21] And I kind of understand that.
[00:28:22] Because, like, a lot of my...
[00:28:25] I have, like, the sensory thing with food.
[00:28:28] Like, I can't eat strawberries because I like the way they taste a lot.
[00:28:31] But, like, the fiberiness of them is terrible.
[00:28:36] Like, for me, it makes me want to throw up.
[00:28:38] And so, it's like, I can't eat really...
[00:28:40] I can't really eat steak if it's, like, chewy.
[00:28:42] Right?
[00:28:43] Because, I don't know.
[00:28:44] It just reminds me that I'm eating a living thing.
[00:28:47] But I love chicken so much.
[00:28:49] Like, I love meat.
[00:28:49] Like, whenever I eat meat, I just want it to be the lowest quality, shitty...
[00:28:54] Like, it can't resemble a living thing anymore.
[00:28:57] Like, it has to be so...
[00:29:00] It has to be so...
[00:29:05] Pulled away.
[00:29:06] I don't know what I'm trying to...
[00:29:08] It can't even resemble a living thing anymore.
[00:29:11] I don't know why that is.
[00:29:13] Because I don't think I think that.
[00:29:15] Like, the ethical thing.
[00:29:16] I think it's just gross.
[00:29:18] Like, I imagine biting into my own arm.
[00:29:20] And I'm like, ew.
[00:29:21] I don't want to think about my own mortality.
[00:29:24] Especially whenever I'm eating food.
[00:29:25] So, I don't know how many people think about that.
[00:29:27] I don't know why that's, like, on the forefront of my mind right now.
[00:29:31] But I felt like I had to get that out.
[00:29:32] Because it's like...
[00:29:35] I don't know.
[00:29:36] It's like, oh, you know, plants are living things, too.
[00:29:39] Right?
[00:29:40] Is it just because they don't have feelings?
[00:29:44] This is stupid.
[00:29:45] Right?
[00:29:46] This is not what you're listening to this podcast.
[00:29:47] I'm just saying that...
[00:29:51] I understand that chickens are living things.
[00:29:53] I still want to eat them.
[00:29:54] Um...
[00:29:56] It's like, I would...
[00:29:57] I would bite into an onion.
[00:30:02] Just straight from the ground.
[00:30:04] Like, if it's still attached...
[00:30:05] Like, if its roots are still in the dirt, I will dig into the dirt and bite into it.
[00:30:10] And I will...
[00:30:10] I will continue to do it even if it was screaming for mercy.
[00:30:14] An onion.
[00:30:15] Because I love them so fucking much.
[00:30:18] The fuck am I talking about?
[00:30:19] So, Japanese, right?
[00:30:21] I'm still doing my little Duolingo thing.
[00:30:23] But I started using Anki a little bit more.
[00:30:25] And it's been very helpful that Duolingo...
[00:30:29] Like, I did mention before.
[00:30:30] But Duolingo has started introducing...
[00:30:36] It has started introducing kanji into things.
[00:30:40] So, it's mostly names and then cities.
[00:30:43] And it also introduced Wakata.
[00:30:45] Which is I.
[00:30:47] Or me, kind of.
[00:30:48] Like, I mean, it's hard.
[00:30:49] Because Japanese is...
[00:30:52] Japanese doesn't really translate directly into English.
[00:30:54] And now I fully understand why people have, like, trouble.
[00:30:58] Like, it's like...
[00:31:00] I don't know.
[00:31:00] When you talk about Spanish, it's much more simple.
[00:31:03] It's like, oh, these, like, words just directly translate into this.
[00:31:07] Right?
[00:31:07] But, like, Japanese is, like, so out there.
[00:31:13] That sentences basically sound like caveman speak.
[00:31:16] Whenever you're trying to translate them into English.
[00:31:18] And so you have to, like, do all kinds of different, like, wacky...
[00:31:22] Wacky things.
[00:31:23] The thing I'm trying to say is that, like...
[00:31:25] Now that, like, a couple of kanji have been introduced to me.
[00:31:28] I'm starting to kind of understand what I'm looking at a little bit better.
[00:31:34] With Wakata.
[00:31:35] And, like, I learned Tokyo, Kyoto.
[00:31:37] I learned Osaka.
[00:31:39] Then I learned, like, some random names.
[00:31:41] But then I was like, why is this?
[00:31:43] Because I learned Nakayama.
[00:31:45] Tamaguchi.
[00:31:46] And then...
[00:31:51] Nakayama...
[00:31:52] I don't remember.
[00:31:53] There's another one.
[00:31:54] Tanaka was one.
[00:31:55] And then there's a fourth one.
[00:31:56] I can't remember.
[00:31:57] And then one, two, and three also.
[00:31:59] But it's like...
[00:32:00] So it's kind of interesting.
[00:32:01] Because I'm doing the hiragana stuff.
[00:32:04] I learned some of the...
[00:32:06] Dakon.
[00:32:07] Dakon.
[00:32:08] Whatever.
[00:32:08] The, like, the...
[00:32:09] The little...
[00:32:12] Apostrophes or whatever on the hiragana that change it slightly.
[00:32:16] It's very, very confusing stuff.
[00:32:18] But I'm definitely working on it.
[00:32:20] What was I saying?
[00:32:21] Oh, yeah.
[00:32:21] So I started using Anki a little bit more.
[00:32:25] I'm using it, like, a few times.
[00:32:29] You know, I'm using it for, like, maybe five minutes a day.
[00:32:32] I'm doing most of my stuff on Duolingo.
[00:32:34] But mostly because it's gamified.
[00:32:36] And there's, like, a leaderboard.
[00:32:37] So I'm, like, fucking trying to win.
[00:32:40] But I'm definitely starting to recognize a lot of things.
[00:32:43] Right?
[00:32:43] Starting to actually recognize things.
[00:32:45] Like, from Duolingo, I know Wakata.
[00:32:47] Like, for...
[00:32:48] I can see it immediately.
[00:32:49] And I'm like, I know what that is.
[00:32:51] And, like, the kanji for it.
[00:32:52] And so...
[00:32:53] I was randomly scrolling on Facebook.
[00:32:56] And I saw some t-shirts.
[00:32:58] And I don't...
[00:32:59] Like, I love, like, the broken English, like, shitty image.
[00:33:03] So there's this one picture that I saw with a cat.
[00:33:06] Like, a low-poly cat.
[00:33:07] Like, from PlayStation 1.
[00:33:08] And it said...
[00:33:10] I...
[00:33:12] What did it say?
[00:33:13] I wish I'd be able to find it.
[00:33:15] Maybe if I scrolled on my phone for a second.
[00:33:17] I'll see it.
[00:33:18] But it was something along the lines of, like...
[00:33:22] I am...
[00:33:23] Like, I am...
[00:33:23] Oh, I found it.
[00:33:24] I am contaminated with radiation.
[00:33:27] I'm going to take a screenshot of this.
[00:33:28] And whenever Philip edits this part...
[00:33:30] I'm going to send it to him.
[00:33:32] Or actually, I'm just going to send it to him now.
[00:33:34] Fuck it.
[00:33:34] It's like midnight.
[00:33:36] So...
[00:33:36] What is that?
[00:33:36] Like, 4 o'clock for him?
[00:33:38] I am contaminated with radiation.
[00:33:40] And so...
[00:33:41] The whole point of this is that...
[00:33:43] It'll be, like, a really shitty t-shirt.
[00:33:45] And then it'll just have random Japanese text on it.
[00:33:48] Mostly kanji.
[00:33:49] But sometimes hiragana.
[00:33:50] Sometimes it's just fucking katakana.
[00:33:51] And I can't see...
[00:33:52] I don't understand a fucking single thing I'm looking at.
[00:33:54] But, um...
[00:33:56] I will see some...
[00:33:57] On some of these shirts...
[00:33:58] The first, like, kanji will be wakata.
[00:34:01] And I'm like...
[00:34:02] Hey!
[00:34:03] You know what I mean?
[00:34:04] Like, uh...
[00:34:05] It just feels really good.
[00:34:09] I'm going to ask Philip what the top of this say...
[00:34:11] What...
[00:34:12] That...
[00:34:13] Say...
[00:34:15] Okay, so I'm doing this live.
[00:34:17] He's gonna...
[00:34:17] It's gonna be funny for only him and me.
[00:34:19] But, uh...
[00:34:20] Well, that was really...
[00:34:21] That was the Japanese section.
[00:34:23] Uh...
[00:34:24] I'm enjoying my time with Duolingo.
[00:34:26] It's a good waste of time.
[00:34:27] It's a lot better than listening to, like...
[00:34:29] Uh...
[00:34:30] Predator poachers.
[00:34:31] Or...
[00:34:32] People getting shot by the police.
[00:34:34] Like, I...
[00:34:34] It's like...
[00:34:35] There is some, like, fucking heinous shit that I'm listening to.
[00:34:38] Uh...
[00:34:39] Philip has replied...
[00:34:40] It says...
[00:34:41] The top of the shirt says something about being dirty.
[00:34:45] Okay.
[00:34:46] That's fine.
[00:34:47] Uh...
[00:34:48] Anyway.
[00:34:49] Yeah.
[00:34:50] So that was Japanese Corner.
[00:34:51] So we're...
[00:34:51] I guess we're going into the review.
[00:34:53] I feel like I wanted to talk about something.
[00:34:55] I'm gonna take another sip of Barks Root Beer.
[00:34:59] While I think about it.
[00:35:01] Yummy.
[00:35:01] The best root beer.
[00:35:02] Barks.
[00:35:03] I went for, like, maybe 19 years of my life...
[00:35:07] Thinking that Barks Root Beer was Bangs.
[00:35:09] B-A-N-G-S.
[00:35:12] Because, uh...
[00:35:13] I can't really read cursive.
[00:35:14] I never tried.
[00:35:15] I never...
[00:35:15] I never put myself...
[00:35:17] Uh...
[00:35:18] I never, uh...
[00:35:18] Challenged myself...
[00:35:20] About cursive back then.
[00:35:23] Uh...
[00:35:24] So I thought the cursive R was an N.
[00:35:26] And I thought the Q was a G.
[00:35:28] I just never...
[00:35:29] I mean, I just never really looked at it also.
[00:35:31] You know what I mean?
[00:35:31] It's never been important.
[00:35:32] I just, like, give you some root beer.
[00:35:33] I want the silver one.
[00:35:36] Silver, please.
[00:35:38] You know, katakana and hiragana in Japanese is, like...
[00:35:42] Hiragana is kind of just, like, cursive.
[00:35:44] Right?
[00:35:45] Like, imagine...
[00:35:46] Okay, so here...
[00:35:47] This is a good fucking...
[00:35:48] Imagine...
[00:35:49] If learning cursive was a requirement...
[00:35:52] In order to read English.
[00:35:55] You know what I'm fucking saying?
[00:35:57] Not only...
[00:35:58] Okay, so how about this?
[00:35:59] Imagine...
[00:36:00] You had to learn cursive.
[00:36:02] And those cursive letters were the same letters.
[00:36:04] But they had...
[00:36:05] They meant something kind of...
[00:36:06] Like...
[00:36:07] It's like...
[00:36:08] You had to learn cursive.
[00:36:09] You had to learn normal...
[00:36:11] Romanji.
[00:36:12] Not Romanji.
[00:36:12] Roman letters.
[00:36:14] And...
[00:36:15] Also, you had to learn emojis.
[00:36:17] And the emojis...
[00:36:19] That's kind of how we communicate, actually.
[00:36:22] Now that I'm thinking about it.
[00:36:23] Kanji is just like emojis, basically.
[00:36:26] So it's old.
[00:36:28] And dumber.
[00:36:29] Curse upon the fucking person who, like...
[00:36:32] Invented all this Japan...
[00:36:34] All this shit that...
[00:36:36] The Japanese used to write.
[00:36:38] Oh, man.
[00:36:39] I really hope...
[00:36:40] I...
[00:36:41] Once I learn...
[00:36:42] I hope it doesn't.
[00:36:43] But, like...
[00:36:43] Before I start learning, like...
[00:36:44] Katakana and shit...
[00:36:45] I hope it changes.
[00:36:46] Like, I hope there's just a fucking ban...
[00:36:48] On, like...
[00:36:49] All this random shit...
[00:36:50] Suddenly.
[00:36:50] You know what I mean?
[00:36:51] That'd be fucking awesome.
[00:36:53] But not while I'm learning it.
[00:36:55] Keep Hiragana around.
[00:36:57] So...
[00:36:58] We're talking...
[00:36:59] Today we're talking about...
[00:36:59] What...
[00:37:00] How long have we been fucking recording?
[00:37:01] 39 minutes.
[00:37:02] We're doing great.
[00:37:02] Okay, so...
[00:37:04] We are talking about Outlast Trials.
[00:37:08] This is from the Steam page.
[00:37:09] Red Barrel invites you to experience...
[00:37:12] Mind-numbing terror.
[00:37:14] This time with friends.
[00:37:16] Whether you go through the trials alone or in teams...
[00:37:19] If you survive long enough to complete therapy...
[00:37:22] Murkoff will happily let you leave.
[00:37:25] But will you be the same?
[00:37:26] Steam.
[00:37:29] All the reviews are very positive.
[00:37:31] Recent reviews also very positive.
[00:37:32] Release date on March 5th, 2024.
[00:37:34] I don't know if that's when it released on the Xbox...
[00:37:37] But this is what Steam and Wikipedia says...
[00:37:40] Not Wikipedia.
[00:37:41] Metacritic.
[00:37:43] Metacritic...
[00:37:44] The score on Metacritic is 75.
[00:37:47] So generally favorable.
[00:37:48] And the user review is 7.6.
[00:37:50] Look at that.
[00:37:51] For once.
[00:37:52] The reviewers and the public...
[00:37:55] Kind of seeing eye to eye on this one.
[00:37:58] History and preconceptions.
[00:37:59] I played both Outlast games.
[00:38:00] I beat the first one.
[00:38:01] The second one was a little long in the tooth.
[00:38:03] I kind of gave up after a little bit.
[00:38:05] But I had...
[00:38:05] I think I had started playing Outlast 2...
[00:38:08] Right after beating Outlast 1.
[00:38:09] And so I was all outlasted out.
[00:38:13] I kind of...
[00:38:14] I don't really like horror games...
[00:38:16] Where you're running away.
[00:38:18] You know?
[00:38:18] Even though it's most horror games.
[00:38:19] Because if you can fight back...
[00:38:21] It's not really scary.
[00:38:22] And I'll talk about that in a little bit.
[00:38:23] But it's like...
[00:38:25] I don't know.
[00:38:26] I really just kind of like horror games...
[00:38:28] For the vibe and the atmosphere.
[00:38:30] I want to be able to fight though.
[00:38:32] Which is why I had such a problem with The Evil Within.
[00:38:35] A lot of people had a problem with my opinion...
[00:38:38] About The Evil Within.
[00:38:39] But I understand where people are coming from...
[00:38:41] When they really, really just enjoy...
[00:38:43] The immaculate atmosphere of the game.
[00:38:45] I mean it's nowhere...
[00:38:46] I would say it's nowhere near as good as Stalker 2.
[00:38:49] Stalker 2 is so much scarier...
[00:38:50] Than The Evil Within could ever hope to be.
[00:38:53] Even though The Evil Within has a lot of horrifying imagery.
[00:38:56] I think Stalker 2 is a much more effective horror game.
[00:39:00] Even with the ability to defend yourself...
[00:39:04] In Stalker I mean.
[00:39:06] I mean you can defend yourself in The Evil Within 2 as well.
[00:39:08] But I haven't played The Evil Within 2.
[00:39:09] So don't get on my back about that.
[00:39:11] But people tend to say that that game is more like an action game anyways.
[00:39:15] So...
[00:39:15] And I look forward to playing it if that's the case.
[00:39:18] Because that means it'll probably be more fun to me.
[00:39:21] Um...
[00:39:21] I brought up another game as well.
[00:39:23] I can't remember what it was.
[00:39:24] But I'm thinking about like...
[00:39:26] This is the difference between Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 2 Remake.
[00:39:29] And then Resident Evil 7.
[00:39:31] Right?
[00:39:31] Because Resident Evil 7 is a lot more restrictive.
[00:39:34] And then you play Resident Evil 8.
[00:39:35] Which is a lot more open and like...
[00:39:37] Gung-ho and wild.
[00:39:39] Right?
[00:39:39] And so...
[00:39:41] I also share this opinion across those two games.
[00:39:43] With 7 and 8.
[00:39:44] Where I...
[00:39:45] I...
[00:39:45] A lot of people liked 7 a lot more.
[00:39:47] Because it was trying...
[00:39:47] It was taking itself so much more seriously.
[00:39:50] Uh...
[00:39:50] And then 8 was going fucking balls to the walls.
[00:39:54] Like what can we do with this engine?
[00:39:55] What can we do with this like...
[00:39:57] With these game mechanics in first person?
[00:39:58] They were really just kind of feeling themselves.
[00:40:01] And uh...
[00:40:02] And that was...
[00:40:03] That was just absolute...
[00:40:04] Absolutely immaculate for me.
[00:40:07] Um...
[00:40:08] I...
[00:40:08] I tend to like enjoy these games.
[00:40:10] Like Dead Space.
[00:40:11] You know?
[00:40:11] Dead Space is immaculate.
[00:40:12] I...
[00:40:13] I fucking love it.
[00:40:14] But...
[00:40:14] And it's still scary.
[00:40:16] It's still horrifying.
[00:40:17] Even though your ability to like...
[00:40:18] If you get good at the game.
[00:40:19] You can sprint through.
[00:40:20] And just fucking start cheesing people.
[00:40:22] And fucking juking them.
[00:40:24] And like football charging.
[00:40:26] Sweening your arms around.
[00:40:27] It's fucking awesome.
[00:40:30] So...
[00:40:30] This game.
[00:40:31] Uh...
[00:40:31] The predecessors to this game.
[00:40:33] I mean...
[00:40:34] Uh...
[00:40:34] Outlast 1 and 2.
[00:40:35] You're basically always running and hiding.
[00:40:38] Um...
[00:40:38] And kind of creeping around.
[00:40:40] And I find that very annoying.
[00:40:42] Uh...
[00:40:42] Generally speaking.
[00:40:44] So I was a little worried.
[00:40:45] Whenever I started playing this.
[00:40:46] Uh...
[00:40:46] Casey was...
[00:40:47] She downloaded it.
[00:40:48] Because she wanted to play with her brother.
[00:40:49] And I was like...
[00:40:50] Oh...
[00:40:50] I can buy that right now.
[00:40:51] And then we can play it together as well.
[00:40:53] And then I monopolized all her time.
[00:40:56] Because it's fun playing with me.
[00:40:57] I...
[00:40:58] I don't...
[00:40:58] Especially in dumb games like this.
[00:41:01] Uh...
[00:41:01] I...
[00:41:02] I think it's very fun to play with...
[00:41:03] Uh...
[00:41:04] Someone kind of silly and unpredictable.
[00:41:05] Like I am.
[00:41:06] Even though...
[00:41:07] Especially if they're good at the game.
[00:41:08] Like I am...
[00:41:09] I'm fucking around.
[00:41:10] And I'm probably making the experience.
[00:41:11] Like...
[00:41:12] Take longer...
[00:41:13] Than it should.
[00:41:15] But I'm also like...
[00:41:16] Very proficient at games.
[00:41:17] Like if...
[00:41:18] When I turn...
[00:41:19] When I lock in.
[00:41:20] I'm gonna lock in.
[00:41:20] And we're gonna finish the thing.
[00:41:21] Right?
[00:41:23] So...
[00:41:24] I mean...
[00:41:24] That's just the history of preconceptions.
[00:41:26] So I ended up buying it.
[00:41:27] Because I wanted to play with Gazy.
[00:41:28] Uh...
[00:41:28] And so...
[00:41:29] I...
[00:41:30] I...
[00:41:30] I bought the game.
[00:41:31] I think...
[00:41:32] Two weeks ago?
[00:41:33] It must have been?
[00:41:35] Or maybe just one week ago.
[00:41:37] Hold on.
[00:41:38] I can go look.
[00:41:40] My first...
[00:41:41] It says...
[00:41:41] My first achievement was on January 1st.
[00:41:43] Which was six days ago.
[00:41:46] Um...
[00:41:46] But...
[00:41:46] I think I played it for like two days before I got my first achievement.
[00:41:50] So...
[00:41:50] It's only been like a week.
[00:41:53] Like legit.
[00:41:54] So...
[00:41:55] I've...
[00:41:55] I've only had the game for a week.
[00:41:57] And I've put 17 hours into it.
[00:41:58] But...
[00:41:59] And that is while...
[00:42:00] I've been trying to beat Metaphor.
[00:42:02] And playing...
[00:42:03] And we were playing a way out.
[00:42:04] And there's a bunch of different things we were doing.
[00:42:06] But like...
[00:42:06] I've...
[00:42:07] I've been really going hard on this game.
[00:42:09] I think.
[00:42:12] Um...
[00:42:12] It's very fun.
[00:42:15] Just right at the top.
[00:42:16] Before I start spoiling things.
[00:42:17] I don't know who cares about the Outlast Trials story mode.
[00:42:19] But I mean...
[00:42:20] I mean...
[00:42:21] It's not like story.
[00:42:22] But like...
[00:42:22] You get...
[00:42:22] You get some...
[00:42:23] You get some lore.
[00:42:25] Right?
[00:42:27] Like this game has a prequel.
[00:42:29] Spoiler alert.
[00:42:30] It's about the Cold War or something.
[00:42:32] I don't know.
[00:42:32] It's really Fallout.
[00:42:34] Uh...
[00:42:34] Fallout coded.
[00:42:36] I would say.
[00:42:38] I don't know why I'm bringing this up in the history...
[00:42:40] In preconceptions hours played section.
[00:42:42] But...
[00:42:43] I'm gonna take another sip of my drink.
[00:42:45] Oh...
[00:42:45] Jesus.
[00:42:45] My throat.
[00:42:49] Alright.
[00:42:50] Now to the Steam review section.
[00:42:51] I got a couple of these.
[00:42:52] I got a...
[00:42:52] I got quite a bit actually.
[00:42:54] I was...
[00:42:55] Proud.
[00:42:56] I'm proud of Steam for this one.
[00:42:58] Some of these games that are just silly and goobery...
[00:43:00] I...
[00:43:01] I...
[00:43:01] I can usually feel it.
[00:43:02] It's like...
[00:43:03] These are gonna be...
[00:43:04] There's gonna be some decent Steam reviews in here.
[00:43:05] It's not gonna be all copy-paste.
[00:43:06] It is still mostly copy-pasted.
[00:43:08] And like...
[00:43:09] You know...
[00:43:10] Lame.
[00:43:10] But...
[00:43:12] There's some silly things in here.
[00:43:15] First one from Jorsen Siegel.
[00:43:18] With 146 hours on record.
[00:43:21] One hour at review time.
[00:43:23] Uh...
[00:43:23] This is an early access review.
[00:43:24] But it says...
[00:43:25] Some crackheads started beating me.
[00:43:27] And then told me to leave them alone.
[00:43:28] Like I was the problem.
[00:43:31] Uh...
[00:43:31] This review got copied and pasted like 76 times.
[00:43:34] But as far as I'm aware, this is the original one.
[00:43:36] Because this is like the top-boated one.
[00:43:38] But uh...
[00:43:39] Yeah.
[00:43:40] I...
[00:43:41] I really do like the dialogue in this game.
[00:43:43] It's very funny.
[00:43:46] Uh...
[00:43:47] Yeah.
[00:43:47] There's just...
[00:43:48] There's a lot...
[00:43:49] They say fucking crazy out-of-pocket shit.
[00:43:54] Uh...
[00:43:54] Like...
[00:43:55] Everyone.
[00:43:56] Everyone.
[00:43:56] Every single NPC.
[00:43:57] Even the ones that aren't supposed to be crazy.
[00:43:59] They...
[00:43:59] Everyone's saying crazy shit.
[00:44:00] Your character...
[00:44:01] Your character when he does...
[00:44:02] When he does call-outs.
[00:44:03] Sometimes he's saying crazy shit.
[00:44:06] Alright.
[00:44:07] So the next one is Helldivers.
[00:44:09] The...
[00:44:09] And then in parentheses it's the SE.
[00:44:11] Maybe the sequel.
[00:44:12] I don't know.
[00:44:13] It goes off the screen.
[00:44:16] He recommends this at 47 hours on record.
[00:44:19] And 29.8 at review time.
[00:44:23] This is also an early access review.
[00:44:25] It looks like all these are early access except for one of them.
[00:44:29] Uh...
[00:44:30] He says...
[00:44:31] 400 arm wrestling wins.
[00:44:32] I cannot be defeated.
[00:44:34] If I catch any of you sitting at the table you're done for.
[00:44:38] Rest of the game is okay I guess.
[00:44:40] Pros.
[00:44:41] Arm wrestling mini game.
[00:44:42] Cons.
[00:44:43] Stupid babies thinking they could beat me at the arm wrestling mini game.
[00:44:48] There's an arm wrestling mini game.
[00:44:50] There's a lot of...
[00:44:50] There's a couple of mini games that you can play.
[00:44:52] I will go into detail about that a little bit later.
[00:44:55] But...
[00:44:55] Funny review.
[00:44:56] Thank you so much.
[00:44:58] Dino.
[00:44:58] The Dino.
[00:45:00] Recommends this game.
[00:45:02] 17.9 hours on record.
[00:45:03] 2.5 at review time.
[00:45:05] It says...
[00:45:06] I was in Los Angeles around 3 years back.
[00:45:08] This game is a toned down version of my experience.
[00:45:13] I believe that.
[00:45:14] Uh...
[00:45:14] There's a funny tradition that uh...
[00:45:16] That streamer Moist Critical has.
[00:45:18] Where he just watches car chases and almost...
[00:45:21] Like...
[00:45:21] It's like police car chases.
[00:45:23] That last a really long time.
[00:45:25] And almost all of them that he watches are in LA.
[00:45:28] It just seems amazing.
[00:45:30] Like it just seems like a...
[00:45:31] Like a fucking fantasy world over there.
[00:45:34] Like I don't know what the fuck you guys are doing in LA.
[00:45:36] But...
[00:45:37] Uh...
[00:45:37] Keep it up.
[00:45:38] Keep it up over there.
[00:45:39] Away from me.
[00:45:40] Attract all the fucking crazy people.
[00:45:43] With all that shit.
[00:45:44] Make them go to you.
[00:45:45] I enjoy...
[00:45:47] My relative silence.
[00:45:49] Over here.
[00:45:50] In the uh...
[00:45:51] Good ol' OK LA.
[00:45:56] Uh...
[00:45:56] So ABAT...
[00:45:59] Recommends this game.
[00:46:00] 34 hours on record.
[00:46:01] 30 at review time.
[00:46:02] So didn't play too much longer after this.
[00:46:04] It says...
[00:46:05] Lots of naked men bullying me.
[00:46:07] Just as God intended.
[00:46:10] Amen brother.
[00:46:12] Uh...
[00:46:12] Preach.
[00:46:13] Preaching.
[00:46:13] Preaching to the choir.
[00:46:15] Uh...
[00:46:15] The Sour Patch G.
[00:46:17] Recommends this game.
[00:46:18] 25.5 hours on record.
[00:46:20] 9.8 at review time.
[00:46:22] This is the one that's not a review copy.
[00:46:24] Uh...
[00:46:25] This one says...
[00:46:26] The trials are actually there to give you a break from the real game.
[00:46:29] Chess and arm wrestling.
[00:46:32] Again...
[00:46:32] These...
[00:46:35] We'll talk about it pretty soon.
[00:46:36] But this is uh...
[00:46:38] This is...
[00:46:39] Uh...
[00:46:39] Uh...
[00:46:39] A highlight of the game.
[00:46:41] For a lot of people.
[00:46:42] The...
[00:46:42] Whenever I first downloaded this game.
[00:46:44] I always check the reviews on Xbox.
[00:46:46] Just to see what people are saying.
[00:46:47] Like in case it's like a bad port or whatever.
[00:46:49] Like...
[00:46:50] I'm always looking at the reviews.
[00:46:52] And the top review on Xbox.
[00:46:54] Says...
[00:46:54] It's like Chess Master.
[00:46:56] And then it says some shit underneath it.
[00:46:58] As a matter of fact...
[00:46:59] I can look it up real quick.
[00:47:00] Yeah.
[00:47:01] So the first review says...
[00:47:02] Chess Champion.
[00:47:05] Running...
[00:47:06] Uh...
[00:47:06] Wait.
[00:47:06] Hold on.
[00:47:08] Finished the tutorial.
[00:47:10] Loaded into the lobby safe zone.
[00:47:11] Decided to play some chess with another player.
[00:47:14] Lost in three moves.
[00:47:16] Rage Quit.
[00:47:16] I like.
[00:47:19] Terrific.
[00:47:20] He probably got Fools Mated.
[00:47:22] Uh...
[00:47:23] I mean...
[00:47:23] Well...
[00:47:23] I mean...
[00:47:23] Probably not Fools Mated.
[00:47:24] That's a very specific thing.
[00:47:26] Uh...
[00:47:26] But it was probably...
[00:47:27] The uh...
[00:47:28] Scholar's Mate.
[00:47:30] Fools Mate is the fastest checkmate you can get in chess.
[00:47:33] But you have to like...
[00:47:34] Play two back-to-back purposefully bad moves.
[00:47:39] So...
[00:47:40] You know.
[00:47:41] Scholar's Mate is a lot more common.
[00:47:44] Um...
[00:47:44] Hey...
[00:47:45] What are we talking about?
[00:47:46] About to go into the discussion points.
[00:47:47] Okay?
[00:47:48] Talking a lot about chess.
[00:47:49] Talking a lot about arm wrestling.
[00:47:52] Outlast Trials.
[00:47:53] Uh...
[00:47:53] You go through a tutorial.
[00:47:55] Kind of teaches you the game.
[00:47:56] It's also like the first...
[00:47:57] Like...
[00:47:57] Taste of what...
[00:47:58] You're really gonna get inside of this.
[00:48:02] Though it is a solo experience.
[00:48:03] The thing...
[00:48:04] The thing is...
[00:48:05] It's...
[00:48:05] The game is sandwiched...
[00:48:07] In between two solo experiences.
[00:48:09] The tutorial and then the outro.
[00:48:11] Uh...
[00:48:12] We'll talk about in a little bit.
[00:48:26] Uh...
[00:48:26] But whenever you get...
[00:48:27] Whenever you get out of the tutorial...
[00:48:28] You get kicked out into the sleep room.
[00:48:30] Where you get to see a bunch of your peers.
[00:48:33] This is a hub world.
[00:48:35] Uh...
[00:48:36] I mentioned this in the last episode.
[00:48:37] But...
[00:48:37] You get a little hub world.
[00:48:38] Where you can walk around and interact with people.
[00:48:41] Do emotes.
[00:48:42] Do Fortnite dances.
[00:48:43] You know...
[00:48:44] Do all kinds of different random things.
[00:48:47] And...
[00:48:48] Every single one of your like...
[00:48:49] Pings.
[00:48:49] You can like...
[00:48:50] Hold the thing and do like...
[00:48:51] Different pings.
[00:48:51] Like danger.
[00:48:52] Or I need healing.
[00:48:53] Or whatever.
[00:48:53] And they always do like...
[00:48:55] Different hand signs.
[00:48:55] This will come up a couple times.
[00:48:57] Because it's always like...
[00:48:58] Happening.
[00:48:58] You know?
[00:48:59] Like...
[00:48:59] Everyone's always just doing shit.
[00:49:00] Like...
[00:49:01] When you do a normal pin...
[00:49:03] Your character points.
[00:49:04] So...
[00:49:04] One thing that me and Casey would do sometimes...
[00:49:06] Is we would get in someone's face...
[00:49:07] And just start pointing at them...
[00:49:08] Over and over again.
[00:49:10] And...
[00:49:10] That's always fun.
[00:49:11] Uh...
[00:49:12] But people...
[00:49:13] People are very silly in this game.
[00:49:15] I imagine it's much of...
[00:49:17] Uh...
[00:49:18] Teenagers.
[00:49:19] Uh...
[00:49:19] Because it kind of seems like a teenage...
[00:49:21] Like style game.
[00:49:21] Even though the game is full of...
[00:49:23] Full frontal nudity.
[00:49:25] There's so much fucking nudity.
[00:49:27] And gore.
[00:49:27] It is very graphic.
[00:49:29] But it is...
[00:49:29] Something that I would have loved...
[00:49:31] As a teenager.
[00:49:32] Like I would have loved this shit.
[00:49:34] This would have been a dream for me.
[00:49:36] Fuck RuneScape.
[00:49:37] I would have been playing Outlast Trials...
[00:49:39] All the time.
[00:49:41] Um...
[00:49:41] So you go into this sleep room.
[00:49:42] You see a bunch of people.
[00:49:44] Uh...
[00:49:45] The...
[00:49:45] One of the most notable things is your room.
[00:49:47] After you do this tutorial...
[00:49:49] Every other time that you come into the game...
[00:49:50] You're going to wake up in your room.
[00:49:52] Uh...
[00:49:52] There are like...
[00:49:53] 20 rooms...
[00:49:55] Throughout...
[00:49:55] Like around the sleep room.
[00:49:57] And they're all vacant...
[00:49:59] Until they...
[00:49:59] The people populate the lobby.
[00:50:02] And then you just get randomly assigned a room.
[00:50:05] And you can decorate it.
[00:50:06] So you got your bed.
[00:50:07] The floor.
[00:50:08] The walls.
[00:50:08] There's a bunch of posters.
[00:50:09] And then there's two slots for big items.
[00:50:12] And two slots for small items.
[00:50:13] And then as you do like the season pass and whatever.
[00:50:15] Like you unlock different...
[00:50:18] Uh...
[00:50:18] Like as you do missions.
[00:50:19] You can get like little stamps.
[00:50:21] You put the stamps into your season pass.
[00:50:23] And then you unlock shit.
[00:50:24] It's basic Fortnite shit.
[00:50:26] Um...
[00:50:27] Which is a little annoying.
[00:50:28] But like you do unlock a couple of things.
[00:50:29] Like whenever I did beat the game.
[00:50:31] I unlocked this trophy.
[00:50:33] That I could throw in there.
[00:50:34] There's seasonal events.
[00:50:35] Like there's a winter one going on.
[00:50:37] I'll talk about that in a minute.
[00:50:37] But it's like...
[00:50:39] You get like different things.
[00:50:40] Right?
[00:50:41] And you can decorate your rooms.
[00:50:42] Uh...
[00:50:43] However you want.
[00:50:45] And everyone's rooms are different.
[00:50:46] Like I was expecting like...
[00:50:48] I was like this is kind of cute.
[00:50:49] And then I saw Casey's room.
[00:50:50] And I was like oh this is pretty cool.
[00:50:51] It's a lot different than mine.
[00:50:52] And then uh...
[00:50:53] As I played my room got progressively crazier.
[00:50:56] And then I saw everyone else's room.
[00:50:58] Like everyone's just got all kinds of shit.
[00:51:00] Like you can buy cosmetics for this.
[00:51:02] Uh...
[00:51:02] I thought that the cosmetics were just the suits that people were wearing.
[00:51:06] But no.
[00:51:06] There are cosmetics for like your room as well.
[00:51:10] Um...
[00:51:11] It's very interesting.
[00:51:13] Uh...
[00:51:13] I really do like this kind of thing.
[00:51:15] Because you don't have to like invite.
[00:51:17] It's not like RuneScape where you do your like...
[00:51:19] Your construction.
[00:51:21] And then you make your house.
[00:51:23] And then you have to invite people.
[00:51:24] Like in this.
[00:51:25] Like people are just walking around the sleep room anyway.
[00:51:28] And so if you have like a fancy room.
[00:51:31] Then people are going to notice just from the window outside.
[00:51:33] And they're going to walk in there and look around.
[00:51:35] And it's multiple times I've had a...
[00:51:37] I'll be like looking at my achievement progress.
[00:51:39] And saw on the little radio inside of my room.
[00:51:42] And then I turn around and there's just a random person in my room.
[00:51:44] Just standing there.
[00:51:45] Like excuse me.
[00:51:46] Because you...
[00:51:47] And then they start pointing at my bed.
[00:51:48] And I get fucking scared.
[00:51:50] And I leave.
[00:51:51] But um...
[00:51:52] Yeah.
[00:51:53] I mean the sleep room is very interesting.
[00:51:54] And the room itself is very cool.
[00:51:57] Uh...
[00:51:57] Inside the room you have a mirror.
[00:51:59] Where you can kind of customize your character.
[00:52:01] At first there's a lot of...
[00:52:02] It's really limited what you can do.
[00:52:04] Uh...
[00:52:04] It's so limited in fact that me and Casey looked like twin brother and sister.
[00:52:08] Because we just made our characters look exactly the same.
[00:52:10] On accident.
[00:52:12] And um...
[00:52:12] But eventually in the season pass you unlock like a...
[00:52:15] Like different suits and stuff.
[00:52:16] And so we were kind of progressing slowly through that.
[00:52:19] Doing that kind of thing.
[00:52:22] Um...
[00:52:22] Uh...
[00:52:23] What else is there?
[00:52:24] Like...
[00:52:25] Well...
[00:52:26] Yeah.
[00:52:26] I mean that really that's it.
[00:52:27] Uh...
[00:52:28] You can decorate your room and all kinds of stuff.
[00:52:30] You...
[00:52:30] You can get four posters for your walls.
[00:52:32] And one of them is a chess poster.
[00:52:34] So I was like fuck yeah dude.
[00:52:35] And I put that chess poster on my wall.
[00:52:37] But without knowing that there was a chess board in the...
[00:52:39] In the thing.
[00:52:40] I just thought that I was just like random...
[00:52:42] Just a random like generic poster.
[00:52:44] And I guess it's just how the pieces move.
[00:52:46] Basically.
[00:52:48] Uh...
[00:52:48] But I blue balled you guys enough.
[00:52:50] We gotta talk about the mini games.
[00:52:52] And uh...
[00:52:53] There are four of them.
[00:52:54] As far as I remember.
[00:52:57] And I walked around the...
[00:52:58] I walked around the sleep room before I got on the podcast.
[00:53:01] Like I literally just got done playing the game.
[00:53:04] So...
[00:53:05] Before jumping on.
[00:53:07] Um...
[00:53:07] So...
[00:53:08] Chess.
[00:53:09] There's a chess board.
[00:53:10] There's two chess boards inside the sleep room.
[00:53:12] But no one ever uses the one in the top...
[00:53:14] On the top floor in the cafeteria.
[00:53:15] No one's ever on that one.
[00:53:17] Uh...
[00:53:17] So the chess board in the first floor.
[00:53:19] You just sit at one of the sides.
[00:53:21] And then you play.
[00:53:22] Uh...
[00:53:23] It's five minutes.
[00:53:24] Uh...
[00:53:24] With no additional time.
[00:53:26] And...
[00:53:28] I don't know.
[00:53:29] It's just so fun.
[00:53:30] I don't know why it's so...
[00:53:31] It's...
[00:53:32] It has no reason to be as fun as it is.
[00:53:34] And the best part about it...
[00:53:35] Is that you get an ELO.
[00:53:37] And so...
[00:53:38] Whenever you start playing...
[00:53:40] You got...
[00:53:40] You start at like...
[00:53:41] A thousand I think.
[00:53:43] Or eleven hundred.
[00:53:44] And then you go up or down.
[00:53:45] So I think my ELO is like fourteen hundred.
[00:53:47] In the...
[00:53:48] In...
[00:53:49] In uh...
[00:53:51] In Outlast Trials chess.
[00:53:53] And there is this amazing screenshot I have.
[00:53:56] Where I was in an almost full lobby.
[00:53:59] And almost everyone was standing around watching these two people play chess.
[00:54:04] It's just a bunch of monkeys watching two of their fellow monkeys play like a fucking...
[00:54:09] It was just so...
[00:54:10] And the best part was...
[00:54:11] Is they were playing terrible chess.
[00:54:13] It was making me...
[00:54:15] Nauseous.
[00:54:16] It was making me so fucking mad.
[00:54:17] It's not that I'm very, very good at chess either.
[00:54:20] But it's just like...
[00:54:21] The whole time I'm like...
[00:54:23] You're blundering!
[00:54:24] You're queen!
[00:54:25] You're bl...
[00:54:25] The rook!
[00:54:26] Get the rook!
[00:54:27] Why won't you...
[00:54:28] You know?
[00:54:28] I'm like...
[00:54:29] I'm just fucking...
[00:54:29] Oh, I'm hollering.
[00:54:30] You know?
[00:54:31] I'm hollering.
[00:54:33] I did...
[00:54:34] That's not to say I fucking ran a train on everybody.
[00:54:36] Uh...
[00:54:37] Whenever.
[00:54:38] Because...
[00:54:39] Every single time...
[00:54:40] We would...
[00:54:40] I would get done with a mission.
[00:54:42] Uh...
[00:54:43] There would always be a moment where everyone's kind of doing their season pass and stuff.
[00:54:46] Like doing their little missions.
[00:54:47] And like...
[00:54:48] Like redeeming all their points.
[00:54:50] And leveling up.
[00:54:51] And there's all kinds of things we'll talk about in a little bit.
[00:54:54] But...
[00:54:55] While they're doing that...
[00:54:56] I would just sit at the chess board.
[00:54:58] And then get on my phone.
[00:54:59] Or just wait.
[00:55:00] You know?
[00:55:00] I'm just like sitting around.
[00:55:01] And then...
[00:55:02] Because it makes noise when the game starts.
[00:55:05] And I would always be black.
[00:55:06] So that...
[00:55:07] Because black always goes second.
[00:55:08] And that way I would hear...
[00:55:10] Like I would have a moment to like react.
[00:55:13] But um...
[00:55:14] Yeah.
[00:55:14] I lost a few games.
[00:55:17] And uh...
[00:55:18] It was sad.
[00:55:19] It was very sad.
[00:55:20] But um...
[00:55:21] Almost every time that I would be in a lobby...
[00:55:23] There is this leaderboard.
[00:55:25] Right?
[00:55:25] That's like...
[00:55:27] Alternating.
[00:55:27] Like every...
[00:55:28] Every 20 seconds it would change to another statistic.
[00:55:30] And one of them would be like...
[00:55:32] The different mini games.
[00:55:33] And how many times you've won with them.
[00:55:35] So like you'd have chess victories.
[00:55:37] And like I would almost always be at the very top of that.
[00:55:40] Which made me kind of feel...
[00:55:42] Stupid.
[00:55:43] But kind of good.
[00:55:43] You know what I mean?
[00:55:44] Like oh look.
[00:55:44] I'm like...
[00:55:46] It feels good that I can just beat the layman.
[00:55:48] Right?
[00:55:49] After all this time.
[00:55:51] Like you know...
[00:55:51] I don't really practice too much.
[00:55:53] Like I...
[00:55:53] I go through spurts of...
[00:55:57] Of uh...
[00:55:58] Motivation.
[00:55:59] Where I'm like...
[00:56:00] Oh man.
[00:56:00] I really want to kind of tighten up my King's Indian.
[00:56:03] You know what I mean?
[00:56:03] Which really is what it is.
[00:56:04] It's like...
[00:56:05] When I was playing chess in...
[00:56:06] In uh...
[00:56:07] Outlast Trials.
[00:56:08] I was doing King's Indian over and over and over again.
[00:56:09] Just kind of...
[00:56:10] Putting reps in.
[00:56:12] The thing was is that...
[00:56:14] I think only like three or four games...
[00:56:16] Uh...
[00:56:16] I would ever play.
[00:56:17] And somebody was actually playing an opening.
[00:56:20] Uh...
[00:56:20] And I...
[00:56:20] It's like if I did four games...
[00:56:22] That had an actual opening happen...
[00:56:25] Uh...
[00:56:25] Three of the four were in...
[00:56:26] Uh...
[00:56:26] Were uh...
[00:56:27] Were London's.
[00:56:28] And then like...
[00:56:30] I think probably three of the four that I...
[00:56:32] That I played...
[00:56:34] Somebody actually doing an opening.
[00:56:35] I probably lost those.
[00:56:36] You know what I mean?
[00:56:38] Those are the ones that I usually lost.
[00:56:40] But they were usually like close games.
[00:56:42] I only...
[00:56:43] I didn't play anyone who was like a fucking...
[00:56:45] You know what I mean?
[00:56:46] A fucking...
[00:56:47] Uh...
[00:56:47] An IM.
[00:56:49] Or anything like that.
[00:56:51] But uh...
[00:56:52] Yeah man.
[00:56:53] Chess is fun.
[00:56:54] Chess is really fun.
[00:56:55] And it's also so fun because...
[00:56:57] All of these like fucking baboons are running around.
[00:57:00] Every now and then you'll just see them standing there.
[00:57:02] And like emoting next to you.
[00:57:04] You can't really look around.
[00:57:05] Like once you're locked into chess...
[00:57:07] Like you can't really move your camera anywhere.
[00:57:09] Because you're using the right analog stick.
[00:57:11] Which is normally the camera control.
[00:57:12] To like pick the fucking pieces that you want.
[00:57:15] But uh...
[00:57:16] I don't know.
[00:57:17] Very fun.
[00:57:17] So...
[00:57:18] Probably...
[00:57:18] We're going on to the next mini game.
[00:57:20] Uh...
[00:57:20] Which is arm wrestling.
[00:57:21] This is probably the one that everyone's familiar with the most.
[00:57:24] Probably beyond chess.
[00:57:25] Because you play chess.
[00:57:26] You're like okay I understand what this is.
[00:57:27] But uh...
[00:57:28] Arm wrestling is basically just a reaction time mini game.
[00:57:32] Um...
[00:57:33] Where...
[00:57:33] It's who...
[00:57:34] It's like...
[00:57:35] It's hard to explain.
[00:57:37] But like...
[00:57:37] It's like a bar with different sections gets progressively smaller as you hit them.
[00:57:42] And then as soon as you fuck up you lose a little bit of progression on your arm wrestling kind of thing.
[00:57:47] So it's not an...
[00:57:47] It's not a button mashing thing.
[00:57:49] Like in a way out.
[00:57:50] Um...
[00:57:51] It is a timing thing.
[00:57:52] And I was generally bad at this.
[00:57:56] Um...
[00:57:56] I think I only won like two or three times.
[00:57:59] And...
[00:57:59] I mean I didn't play too many times either.
[00:58:00] I was always sitting at the chess table.
[00:58:03] So...
[00:58:03] Uh...
[00:58:04] But the arm wrestling was there.
[00:58:05] Uh...
[00:58:05] Oh!
[00:58:06] The best part about the arm wrestling.
[00:58:07] It's so funny.
[00:58:09] It's...
[00:58:10] Whenever the two people are arm wrestling.
[00:58:12] I think up to four people can get around the table.
[00:58:15] And just start...
[00:58:17] Hitting the table with their fist.
[00:58:19] And they...
[00:58:20] You hit the table with the trigger.
[00:58:23] Like...
[00:58:23] Every time you press the button.
[00:58:25] Your fist hits the table.
[00:58:26] And so you can do it at any rate.
[00:58:28] Like you can like...
[00:58:29] Go fast.
[00:58:30] You can go slow.
[00:58:31] You know what I mean?
[00:58:32] Like you can go at an erratic pace.
[00:58:35] And...
[00:58:35] It is...
[00:58:36] Annoying.
[00:58:37] When you're doing the fucking arm wrestling thing.
[00:58:39] Because it fucks with your timing.
[00:58:40] If people are like purposefully fucking with you.
[00:58:43] But uh...
[00:58:43] It is also funny to like...
[00:58:45] Walk into that room.
[00:58:47] And just see like three people pounding the table.
[00:58:49] While there's a fucking...
[00:58:50] It's like walking into a fucking pub.
[00:58:53] In like a fucking fantasy novel.
[00:58:55] Like a fantasy novel that is about pirates.
[00:58:58] You know what I mean?
[00:58:59] Like a fucking pirate Lord of the Rings.
[00:59:02] That's what I feel like whenever I walk in there.
[00:59:04] But everyone's dressed up like dorks.
[00:59:06] Because we all look fucking stupid with our goggles and shit.
[00:59:11] And our fucking thrown together rags.
[00:59:14] That we've gotten from the season pass.
[00:59:19] Alright.
[00:59:19] But arm wrestling.
[00:59:20] Very funny.
[00:59:22] Uh...
[00:59:22] And it's very quick too.
[00:59:24] So like there's a lot of turnaround.
[00:59:26] Like in a chess...
[00:59:27] In the chess game.
[00:59:28] Like I think they last up to like fucking...
[00:59:30] Fucking 20 minutes or something.
[00:59:32] Well it's two five minute matches.
[00:59:33] So I mean...
[00:59:34] I mean two five minute timers.
[00:59:35] So it must be 10 minutes.
[00:59:37] Right?
[00:59:39] I don't know.
[00:59:40] I see...
[00:59:40] It would...
[00:59:40] I would imagine it's 10 minutes.
[00:59:43] Or around that.
[00:59:44] Maximum.
[00:59:46] Anyway.
[00:59:46] So there's the third game mode.
[00:59:48] And these next two game modes.
[00:59:50] If you didn't look around.
[00:59:52] You wouldn't know that these even existed.
[00:59:54] I didn't know.
[00:59:55] I probably...
[00:59:56] It probably took like seven or eight hours to even notice that they were there.
[00:59:58] And then I showed them to Casey.
[00:59:59] And she didn't know that they were there.
[01:00:01] And she had played the game before I...
[01:00:03] Before...
[01:00:03] Like she had played the game before.
[01:00:05] So...
[01:00:06] But uh...
[01:00:06] We played tennis.
[01:00:08] Which is basically...
[01:00:09] It looks like Pong.
[01:00:09] Whenever you first walk up to it.
[01:00:11] It literally is like maybe 15 polygons.
[01:00:14] That's the whole game.
[01:00:16] But uh...
[01:00:17] You...
[01:00:18] There's a little ball.
[01:00:18] And you have a little racket thing.
[01:00:20] And you don't move anything.
[01:00:21] You literally are only holding down a button.
[01:00:23] And then letting go of it.
[01:00:25] And like that...
[01:00:25] So you can either lob it.
[01:00:27] Or you can like hit it hard.
[01:00:28] Or whatever.
[01:00:30] I was terrible at this.
[01:00:31] We only played it once.
[01:00:32] And I was like okay.
[01:00:33] This is fun.
[01:00:33] But uh...
[01:00:34] You're just hitting a ball.
[01:00:35] Uh...
[01:00:36] Back and forth.
[01:00:38] And then the next game is the Stroop Test.
[01:00:40] Which I don't know if this is real.
[01:00:41] Hold on.
[01:00:41] Let me go and google this.
[01:00:42] Because this might be real.
[01:00:46] Uh...
[01:00:46] I typed in Stroop and it auto-filled to Stroopwafel.
[01:00:49] Which is a...
[01:00:50] A thin round cookie made from two layers of sweet baked dough.
[01:00:54] Held together by syrup filling.
[01:00:56] Holy shit.
[01:00:57] This sounds delicious.
[01:01:00] First made in the city of Gouda.
[01:01:02] In South Holland.
[01:01:05] Stroopwafels are a well-known Dutch treat.
[01:01:08] Popular throughout the Netherlands and abroad.
[01:01:11] That's so fucking funny.
[01:01:13] I'm gonna take a picture of that.
[01:01:15] I don't know if you can hear that.
[01:01:16] But I'm gonna...
[01:01:16] I'm gonna see...
[01:01:16] I'm trying to see if I can get some of that here in Oklahoma City.
[01:01:20] You know what I mean?
[01:01:21] Alright.
[01:01:21] So Stroop test.
[01:01:24] See.
[01:01:26] Is this real?
[01:01:27] Okay.
[01:01:28] It looks like it's real.
[01:01:30] Uh...
[01:01:30] So let's let...
[01:01:31] Let's let...
[01:01:32] I'll be a wiki warrior.
[01:01:35] Oh, the Stroop effect.
[01:01:37] Okay.
[01:01:37] In psychology, the Stroop effect is the delay in reaction time between congruent and incongruent stimuli.
[01:01:44] The effect has been used to create a psychological test, the Stroop test, that is widely used in clinical practice and investigation.
[01:01:51] A basic task that demonstrates this effect occurs when there is a mismatch between the name of a color, example, blue, green, or red, and the color it is printed on, i.e.
[01:02:03] The word red printed in blue ink instead of using red ink, thus, you know, red, but colored blue.
[01:02:10] Typically, when a person is asked to name the color of the word, they take longer and are more prone to errors when the color of the ink does not match the name of the color.
[01:02:20] Yada, yada, yada about...
[01:02:22] I mean, it gets made by John Ridley Stroop.
[01:02:25] What a fucking last name.
[01:02:27] These Germans.
[01:02:28] What can you do?
[01:02:29] Alright.
[01:02:30] But yeah.
[01:02:30] So basically, this is exactly what the test is.
[01:02:32] So it gives you a...
[01:02:35] It's confusing on multiple axes.
[01:02:37] Because I never really understood what to do.
[01:02:39] I didn't know what it was fucking asking of me.
[01:02:41] So I've lost every time I played this.
[01:02:43] But there are like six screens.
[01:02:47] You're like in a fucking soundproof room.
[01:02:49] It looks like you're about to drop a fucking mixtape, right?
[01:02:53] And there are like six screens around you.
[01:02:56] You're not like looking around.
[01:02:57] And then like you've got like...
[01:02:59] You're like looking one direction.
[01:03:00] And on one of these screens, it'll be like red.
[01:03:03] But it'll be like purple colored.
[01:03:05] And then on a table in front of you, you have like...
[01:03:09] Like all nine directions, basically.
[01:03:12] Like the four cardinal directions and then the four diagonals.
[01:03:15] So that's eight.
[01:03:16] Sorry.
[01:03:17] Oh, no.
[01:03:18] But you can do the one in the middle too.
[01:03:19] So there's nine.
[01:03:21] I think.
[01:03:22] Maybe I'm just trying to make myself look less stupid.
[01:03:24] But so in each of those directions, there will be, you know, the answer.
[01:03:28] But the answer is also in a different fucking color.
[01:03:31] So it'll be like red and purple colors.
[01:03:33] And then it'll be like purple, but it's yellow.
[01:03:36] And then it'll be like white, but it's green.
[01:03:38] And then it'll be black, but it's velvet.
[01:03:39] I don't know.
[01:03:40] And so it's like...
[01:03:42] It's very fucking confusing.
[01:03:45] And I think if the person that you're competing against gets it before you, then it locks you out.
[01:03:53] Like you lose a point or something.
[01:03:55] But I just never understood it.
[01:03:59] Sometime...
[01:03:59] I mean, maybe I'm fucking it up and like I really like was getting it wrong.
[01:04:04] But I felt that it's like I would see the word red and then I would pick the one that's colored red and I'd get it right.
[01:04:11] And then I would see like the word red, but it's blue.
[01:04:15] And then I'll pick blue, but it's like colored, not red or blue.
[01:04:20] It's like colored a different color.
[01:04:21] And then it'll be like bright.
[01:04:23] And I never really understood what the fuck I was trying to do.
[01:04:27] I could have easily probably Googled it, but I mean, I can't be bothered to be completely honest.
[01:04:33] The Stroop game.
[01:04:35] Stroop test.
[01:04:36] Stroop is getting a little flat.
[01:04:39] Okay.
[01:04:39] Enough of the minigames.
[01:04:41] We're done with the minigames.
[01:04:43] Time for the prescriptions.
[01:04:46] As you level up, you unlock a couple of things.
[01:04:49] There are three different areas that you unlock.
[01:04:51] First will be the prescriptions, which basically are the upgrades for your character.
[01:04:56] This is where you get more stamina.
[01:04:58] This is where you get more inventory slots and all that kind of stuff.
[01:05:01] Not a whole lot of these things are actually worthwhile.
[01:05:04] But you have to do all of them on one page to get to the second page, which is kind of how all of the things work.
[01:05:12] That's how the season pass works for the cosmetics, among other things.
[01:05:18] But you will unlock a slide, which is very fun.
[01:05:20] The slide's great.
[01:05:21] It's funny looking.
[01:05:22] It's really stupid looking.
[01:05:24] So people will just slide around the sleep room and it's just funny.
[01:05:28] It always starts a fucking chain reaction of everyone starting sliding around.
[01:05:33] We're all baboons here.
[01:05:36] Apes together strong and whatnot.
[01:05:41] There's nothing really notable about any of these, you know, besides the inventory slot, which is terrific.
[01:05:46] Then you have the rigs.
[01:05:48] So the rigs are probably the thing that changed the most about the gameplay.
[01:05:52] So this is going to be basically your class that you unlock.
[01:05:55] Each one taking a ticket.
[01:05:57] Okay, so I forgot to mention the tickets.
[01:05:58] When you level up, you get a couple of tickets.
[01:06:00] I think it starts with like two and then it progresses to like three each level.
[01:06:06] Or maybe it was always three and I just never noticed.
[01:06:09] But so you get these tickets and you use these tickets on these upgrades.
[01:06:14] Like the prescriptions or the rigs.
[01:06:16] So the rigs, they all start out at one ticket to unlock them.
[01:06:19] And then you can just equip one, whichever one you want.
[01:06:21] I only ever equipped one and it was the stun one.
[01:06:24] And it was awesome.
[01:06:26] The stun just like fucking, you just hit them right in the fucking face with a taser basically.
[01:06:32] And they just waddle around like a fucking moron for a minute.
[01:06:35] And it lets you get away.
[01:06:36] It lets you do whatever you want.
[01:06:38] So Casey was always using the healing rig.
[01:06:42] And it does exactly what it does.
[01:06:44] It makes a cloud around her and it heals everyone a little bit.
[01:06:48] Which is pretty useful.
[01:06:51] So I don't know what any of these other ones do.
[01:06:53] I'm sure I play, because I played games with randoms a couple of times.
[01:06:57] And I'm sure I've seen these.
[01:06:58] But I just never really recognized what I was looking at.
[01:07:01] So we got the blind one, which I think is a smoke bomb.
[01:07:05] But it's like a claymore or like a mine or something.
[01:07:08] Then we had the x-ray, which is, you know, you can see the walls.
[01:07:11] You have the jammer.
[01:07:12] Don't know what that does at all.
[01:07:14] And then the barricade, which obviously just barricades a door so people can't get to you.
[01:07:19] I just, I don't know.
[01:07:20] I just, it's like either the blind one or the stun one.
[01:07:22] Like those are the ones that have to be the, I mean, maybe x-ray for some of these objectives
[01:07:26] that are very like extra annoying.
[01:07:28] But I loved the stun rig.
[01:07:31] Like I can't imagine playing the game and not using the stun rig because it just makes it so fun.
[01:07:36] I was talking earlier that like whenever you're playing a horror game and you can't defend yourself,
[01:07:41] it makes it very frustrating to me because I'm just not a very patient person.
[01:07:45] I just kind of get annoyed by being inconvenienced by the enemy rather than like being able to fight the enemy.
[01:07:51] But using the stun, like you're never at a moment where you actually get to fight enemies.
[01:07:57] But the stun actually, it gives you agency.
[01:08:00] You know what I mean?
[01:08:00] It's like I could wait for this dude to leave or I could just fucking bust his ass right now.
[01:08:05] Like put him on his ass and then walk past him like a beast.
[01:08:08] And so that's what I always try to do.
[01:08:11] I mean, I don't know.
[01:08:12] I really enjoyed it, but I mean to each their own.
[01:08:15] I can understand why people would run like the heel, right?
[01:08:19] Just to be supportive.
[01:08:20] It came in clutch a couple of times for sure.
[01:08:24] And then the last thing is the amps.
[01:08:26] And I never used these.
[01:08:29] So they cost tickets and they're basically upgrades.
[01:08:32] They'll be like you make less noise when you walk on glass or something like that.
[01:08:37] But it'll cost like three tickets.
[01:08:38] And so I was more motivated to max out my prescriptions before that.
[01:08:45] Or at least I'm on the third page of prescriptions and I got a couple of them.
[01:08:49] And now I'm like all the rest of them.
[01:08:50] I'm like, I don't know if I want these.
[01:08:51] So maybe I'm just going to upgrade my rig, my stun rig or something.
[01:08:55] I'm not sure.
[01:08:56] But I mean, we'll figure it out.
[01:08:58] I just never was interested in the amps that I saw.
[01:09:01] And you have to level up in order to unlock more and more of them.
[01:09:04] So like they're way too deep into the fucking, into the weeds for me.
[01:09:08] I only unlocked like four.
[01:09:11] And I never bought them.
[01:09:13] So, but the amps exist there.
[01:09:16] You can go buy them.
[01:09:19] All right.
[01:09:19] So that's everything about the sleep room.
[01:09:20] We're going to talk about the gameplay.
[01:09:22] All right.
[01:09:22] Most of the gameplay consists of hiding, crouching, walking slowly.
[01:09:27] That's generally what you're going to be doing.
[01:09:29] It's like relegating yourself to the dark.
[01:09:33] And because you're relegating yourself to the dark, you have your night vision goggles, which use battery.
[01:09:38] You got a, it's a, it's a game of resource management, really, this game.
[01:09:45] But you do have your night vision there.
[01:09:46] And speaking of resource management, we can talk about the items really quick.
[01:09:49] You got your heal juice and your bandages.
[01:09:54] You know, that's, that's really it.
[01:09:56] So your, your normal healing potions will heal one bar.
[01:09:59] I think the bandages will heal two bars, but it takes a long time.
[01:10:02] And then you'll have like big heal juice, large healing potions or whatever.
[01:10:06] And so those obviously heal you all the way.
[01:10:11] Batteries, batteries can be small or large.
[01:10:13] And then it obviously depends on how much, uh, it's going to restore of your night vision.
[01:10:21] If you, if you run out of battery on your night vision, you go into low power mode, which is basically, you can only see like a fucking inch in front of your face.
[01:10:30] Uh, so you really don't want that to happen.
[01:10:33] Um, you got the bottles and bricks.
[01:10:36] These are throwables.
[01:10:37] The bottles, I think the bricks will distract people too, but the bottles will explode.
[01:10:40] And like, they'll, like, like a bunch of people, what the fuck was that?
[01:10:44] And they'll start going over there.
[01:10:45] Um, the good thing about this game is that since most of it's in the dark, the enemies don't see you and cause they don't have night vision.
[01:10:51] So a lot of times you don't need to distract people or anything, but the bottles do help.
[01:10:55] And if somebody is walking up on you, you can throw a bottle at them and then run past them real fast because it'll like startle them.
[01:11:03] Like they won't hit you.
[01:11:04] It'll make them flinch, which is pretty cool.
[01:11:07] Uh, the bricks themselves will fucking put people on their ass.
[01:11:10] I don't think it will do it to the large creatures, but, uh, for regular, your regular, uh, ma and pa, hitting them in the face of the brick, it's going to put them on the ground.
[01:11:21] Then you can also get your adrenaline, which, uh, I don't, I think this just like makes your stamina unlimited for a little bit or something.
[01:11:29] I don't really remember.
[01:11:29] I was just using them all the time every time I saw them because I was tired of seeing them.
[01:11:34] Uh, but I never actually picked them up and stored them.
[01:11:37] And, uh, you also have, uh, antidote.
[01:11:39] I didn't put this in the notes, but you have your antidote because you're going insane.
[01:11:44] Uh, well, you're not going insane, but some certain things can make you go insane.
[01:11:47] Like there are some traps that make you insane.
[01:11:50] There's an enemies that specifically walks around and like completely drains your sanity.
[01:11:55] And whenever you use the antidote, it always completely fills your sanity.
[01:11:58] I'm pretty sure.
[01:11:59] And so no matter if you're like completely empty or like one bar missing.
[01:12:04] So sometimes it's good to have one of your teammates like carrying an antidote with them just in case you accidentally get caught by that guy.
[01:12:10] Um, since I'm talking about that, uh, I mean, the last thing is the rig recharge, which will just recharge your rig.
[01:12:18] So like if I would hit someone with my stun, I would have a rig recharge, use it again.
[01:12:22] You know, it's, it's, it's nice.
[01:12:25] Uh, they're rare though.
[01:12:27] I don't think they ever occur like in the open.
[01:12:30] They, I think I've only ever seen them inside of boxes that you have to use a lock pick to open up.
[01:12:35] I think I talked about the lock picks.
[01:12:37] You know, there's, there's some boxes will have like a lock picks.
[01:12:39] That's usually where you find the large heals and the large batteries and stuff like that too.
[01:12:44] Um, so speaking of the nightmare guy, I guess we could talk about when you lose your sanity, you, when your sanity gets lowered, there are like some spooky things that can start happening.
[01:12:56] Like you open up a door and then a fucking guy whoo, like fucking does that to you.
[01:13:00] Um, whenever you completely lose your sanity, there's this fucking dude that starts chasing you around.
[01:13:05] And he looks like that guy who wants the slab in courage, the cowardly dog.
[01:13:14] If you know what I'm talking about, he's just kind of spooky.
[01:13:16] I call him the scary man.
[01:13:18] And, uh, he starts just running towards you constantly and draining your health.
[01:13:23] So it's really funny whenever you see somebody that's lost their sanity.
[01:13:26] Cause they're just sprinting around like a fucking Scooby-Doo cartoon.
[01:13:29] It is funny.
[01:13:30] There, there are a lot of moments where like you, you, there is so much humor in this game where like, uh, like you will just see someone.
[01:13:37] Somebody getting chased and they'll just run past you.
[01:13:39] Like you're hiding in a, you, you hear an enemy cause like the sound design is pretty good in this game.
[01:13:45] You can hear an enemy nearby and then you hear your footsteps rolling fast and you see your teammates name and they run past your door.
[01:13:51] And then the enemy just walks past your door too.
[01:13:54] Like after that, it's, there's some real Scooby-Doo type shit happening in this game all the time.
[01:13:59] Like there was this one time, uh, I was playing with Casey and she was, she walked past me and she's kind of like getting annoyed.
[01:14:06] Cause the game is a little annoying and she's walking past me and I'm like unlocking a thing.
[01:14:12] And I just hear an explosion and then I just hear her go, shit!
[01:14:15] Like just, shit!
[01:14:20] And that's just off in the distance.
[01:14:22] Like it just fucking happens somewhere else.
[01:14:26] I don't know why, but I always find shit like that extremely humorous to me.
[01:14:31] Bad when misfortune falls upon people, but I have no idea where it was or what happened.
[01:14:36] I don't know.
[01:14:37] So, uh, you got a couple of objectives that you generally are doing.
[01:14:42] Uh, you're almost always finding keys for different gates and stuff like that.
[01:14:48] And usually there'll be a hint at what kind of key you need.
[01:14:52] So there will be a bunch of bodies.
[01:14:54] Like this is general, the generic, like the situation.
[01:14:58] So there'll be like bodies with like a piece of, uh, like something drawn on them, like an eye or a tree or something.
[01:15:03] I don't know, a tree, but usually it's like a suit, uh, of cards.
[01:15:07] So it's like a heart, a spade, the other ones.
[01:15:12] I can't remember.
[01:15:14] Diamond.
[01:15:15] And then the other one.
[01:15:17] Yeah.
[01:15:17] I can't remember the fourth one, but, uh, it'll, you know, you, you'll, you'll see a thing and it'll be like heart knows the way or something.
[01:15:27] And then you just got to know to check that guy.
[01:15:30] If you check the wrong one, it shocks you, hurts you a little bit, make some noise, you know, makes inconvenience you generally.
[01:15:37] Nothing's really stopping you from just powering through it though.
[01:15:39] If you don't notice the, the, the hen, but whatever.
[01:15:44] Uh, you also have these generators where you have to carry a gas can to it and fill it up.
[01:15:49] And then there's two fuse boxes on either side, which are kind of, I don't understand how they work.
[01:15:53] I just always brute force it.
[01:15:54] And then you have to do a fucking timing mini game.
[01:15:57] So these things are just time wasters.
[01:16:00] Uh, and they make lots of noise.
[01:16:02] So if there's any, any enemies nearby, they're going to start coming over there trying to figure out how they can best molest you.
[01:16:09] Um, then you have the frequency boxes, which are like a mini game of like getting your sound wavelength to this, to the correct height and width and frequency to be able to get the message that's being broadcast to you.
[01:16:26] Uh, I'm sure there are other ones.
[01:16:28] I just can't really remember off the top of my head, like on, as far as like just the generic ones.
[01:16:35] Uh, but other than that, so generally after you do like the primary objective of your mission, you have to sprint to the exit and usually all the freaks come out at this point.
[01:16:46] And you're just trying to survive, get to the end, survive.
[01:16:52] And I don't know, uh, hit the button, you know, I've never really seen anyone die, but I've never played on a difficulty higher than normal.
[01:17:00] Like if I decided to continue playing this game, I'd have to start playing on higher difficulties just to get like the experience, like, you know, just to get more experience.
[01:17:09] Because my, my leveling really did slow down.
[01:17:11] All right.
[01:17:12] Uh, so there are three primary villains as far as I remember.
[01:17:18] Uh, these are like kind of like the big bads that are like walking around, like trying to stop you from doing the missions.
[01:17:24] Uh, so we'll talk about them really quick.
[01:17:26] Mother Gooseberry is the first person you run into.
[01:17:28] She's the, the antagonist of the, uh, tutorial.
[01:17:34] And she's also the antagonist of a couple of these, but like, so she is this girl, she's this old lady walking around and she's got a puppet.
[01:17:42] It's basically something from Five Nights at Freddy's and it has a drill in its mouth.
[01:17:46] So she's like, it's like a sock puppet thing, but she's like drilling people and stuff like that.
[01:17:52] She likes to drill people's dicks off.
[01:17:53] There's a lot of fucking nudity and shit in here.
[01:17:56] A lot of genital mutilation.
[01:17:59] An obsession with genital mutilation.
[01:18:02] Um, so she says crazy things, but she's also talking like a ventriloquist about the puppet.
[01:18:07] The puppet's making like a kind of goofy voice and he's saying even more unhinged shit.
[01:18:12] Uh, I don't know.
[01:18:14] She's kind of cool.
[01:18:15] I really don't like the Five Nights at Freddy's like puppet thing.
[01:18:18] I wish the puppet looked different.
[01:18:20] I just don't find Five Nights at Freddy's shit like scary whatsoever.
[01:18:23] It just is so goofy to me that it's very difficult for me to like relate to that kind of fear.
[01:18:33] Anyway, this guy right here I found particularly interesting.
[01:18:35] Leland Coyle.
[01:18:36] He is like the police officer with the taser.
[01:18:40] Um, whenever you ping him, so you can ping enemies just to kind of track them for like 30 seconds.
[01:18:45] And, uh, I think they call him Psycho Hillbilly or something like that.
[01:18:48] It's that fucking hillbilly or whatever.
[01:18:51] Um, so he's always walking around talking about justice and shit.
[01:18:54] But, uh, the funny thing was whenever I was looking up everyone's names, you know, on the wiki, uh, I saw that Leland Coyle is from Oklahoma apparently.
[01:19:04] Uh, which is awesome.
[01:19:05] And it's even more awesome because he's part of the KKK apparently also.
[01:19:10] So it's like, of course, uh, great Oklahoma representation over here.
[01:19:16] Uh, we love our prison and we love our racism apparently.
[01:19:21] Don't look up the Tulsa massacre.
[01:19:24] Um, you know, all that good stuff.
[01:19:28] This guy walks around with a taser.
[01:19:30] He starts yelling at you in hillbilly language.
[01:19:32] Um, he, like all these villains kind of act the same besides Franco.
[01:19:37] So just don't get close to them.
[01:19:38] Don't get grabbed.
[01:19:39] You'll be okay.
[01:19:42] Uh, the only difference between Leland and Mother Gooseberry is that Leland is harder to hit because he's skinnier.
[01:19:47] Mother Gooseberry is a big old lady.
[01:19:49] It's a whole lot of woman.
[01:19:53] All right, now we're talking about Franco.
[01:19:54] Franco, I don't, I don't know if he has a last name.
[01:19:57] I don't know why I put Coyle's fucking last name in there.
[01:20:00] But Franco is this kind of weird Frankenstein looking freak.
[01:20:04] He looks like Napoleon.
[01:20:05] Uh, if Napoleon grew up during the mob times.
[01:20:11] Uh, he's got a shotgun.
[01:20:13] He's very annoying.
[01:20:14] I hate his voice.
[01:20:15] I hate how he speaks.
[01:20:16] I think you're supposed to hate how he speaks.
[01:20:18] I think, I don't think you're supposed to like this guy.
[01:20:20] Uh, but he's like a drug guy.
[01:20:24] Drug cartel guy.
[01:20:26] And he shoots you, you know?
[01:20:28] Anyway, so we're going to talk about the trials really quick.
[01:20:33] Uh, so you have the, you have the different, like, things that you can do.
[01:20:40] You have the core therapy, which is basically the primary, like, the primary campaign.
[01:20:45] Uh, which is, uh, separated between a bunch of different trials that you can do.
[01:20:50] Uh, so I guess I'll talk about that.
[01:20:52] So we got, I'll go through them really quick.
[01:20:55] Because the combat loop, I mean, the loop of the game is generally the same.
[01:20:59] I'm just, I have each level mission written out.
[01:21:02] And then just, like, random things that I remembered about them.
[01:21:05] Alright, so kill the snitch is the first one.
[01:21:07] I think you have to do them in order.
[01:21:09] Also.
[01:21:10] I don't think you're allowed to, you know, pick and choose.
[01:21:15] So kill the snitch.
[01:21:18] This one is in a prison, I'm pretty sure.
[01:21:21] Uh, you, it's a push the objective.
[01:21:22] So there's a guy that's in, like, a chair.
[01:21:24] Uh, you gotta get to him.
[01:21:26] And then push the chair slowly to the end.
[01:21:30] And then electrocute him.
[01:21:33] The electrocuting process takes time.
[01:21:35] And somebody has to be there holding the switch down.
[01:21:38] So that makes a lot of noise.
[01:21:40] This is gonna be a, a running theme.
[01:21:43] But the, the, the last task that you have to do, uh, takes time.
[01:21:48] And then also makes a lot of noise.
[01:21:50] So it's, like, stressful.
[01:21:52] Uh, but you electrocute the guy and then run away.
[01:21:55] Uh, cleanse the water.
[01:21:56] Cleanse the orphans.
[01:21:57] It's in, like, an orphanage kind of church thing.
[01:22:00] Uh, the thing about this, I, the only thing about this I remember, this, this one has Mother Gooseberry in it.
[01:22:05] The kill the snitch has the Leland Coyle guy.
[01:22:08] So cleanse the orphans.
[01:22:12] Uh, you get to the end.
[01:22:14] And there is, like, this chapel with a bunch of, like, mannequins.
[01:22:18] Like, children mannequins.
[01:22:18] And then you hit a switch or whatever.
[01:22:23] And this curtain opens up.
[01:22:25] And there's a naked dude crucified.
[01:22:26] I talked about this last week.
[01:22:28] But, like, he's a naked dude crucified on a cross.
[01:22:31] And it pulls him out.
[01:22:33] And puts him in front of this saw.
[01:22:35] And you have to serve the body of Christ.
[01:22:37] Which is just, like, two people.
[01:22:39] One person on each side of this saw blade pushing and pulling.
[01:22:43] Like, cutting his legs off.
[01:22:45] It's pretty neat.
[01:22:46] Like, it was annoying.
[01:22:47] It's annoying because that's a really, like, small area.
[01:22:50] So, like, when all the people show up trying to stop you.
[01:22:53] It's, like, fucking kind of frustrating.
[01:22:54] A lot of frustration in this game.
[01:22:57] Uh, it's not a big deal, though.
[01:22:59] So, grind the bad apples.
[01:23:01] This one, what I remember.
[01:23:03] I don't.
[01:23:04] I didn't remember what the end mission is.
[01:23:07] But this one, I remember the beginning.
[01:23:09] Because you have, like, this, like, little bobbing for apples area.
[01:23:12] With a bunch of human hearts in it.
[01:23:14] And then you take the hearts.
[01:23:17] Which take up an inventory slot.
[01:23:18] Uh, so you can carry up to three.
[01:23:20] Or, you know, four.
[01:23:21] Whenever you level up.
[01:23:24] And then you have to do carnival games.
[01:23:26] Which is, they're all the same carnival game.
[01:23:28] Which is a shame.
[01:23:29] But, like, you just hit the targets with the hearts.
[01:23:31] And then it gives you a piece of whatever you're trying to do.
[01:23:35] Uh, I remember that.
[01:23:36] I kind of liked the carnival setting.
[01:23:38] Which is a little neat.
[01:23:39] It reminded me of, like, Left 4 Dead.
[01:23:41] A lot of this game reminds me of Left 4 Dead for some reason.
[01:23:45] Um, oh, uh, so the end is, like, you gotta push a boat.
[01:23:48] So it's another push the objective kind of thing.
[01:23:50] I don't remember what you're pushing it for.
[01:23:52] Or two.
[01:23:53] Or what's in it.
[01:23:54] But, I remember that.
[01:23:57] Maybe it's apples.
[01:23:59] I don't know.
[01:24:00] Uh, so Vindicate the Guilty.
[01:24:02] This level was, there's, like, a courtroom thing.
[01:24:06] And, like, you had to destroy evidence and stuff.
[01:24:08] So I thought that that was pretty cool.
[01:24:09] Like, you bring the evidence to, like, this fountain in the middle of the room.
[01:24:12] And then, like, pour acid on it and stuff.
[01:24:15] You know, getting rid of evidences.
[01:24:16] But, uh, it also introduces, like, the fucking worst mechanic in the entire game.
[01:24:20] Which is using the microwave emitter to kill people.
[01:24:23] So there are some enemies.
[01:24:26] Uh, it's only whenever you have to do this objective.
[01:24:29] But, like, there are some enemies with, like, these yellow light bulbs on their head.
[01:24:32] These fucking...
[01:24:35] These fucking dark brown looking motherfuckers.
[01:24:38] I mean, they're, like, they're corpses, basically.
[01:24:40] Just, like, all the enemies in this game.
[01:24:42] But they have these, like, light bulbs on their head.
[01:24:45] And you have to microwave them for each light bulb that they have.
[01:24:49] So if there's three of them, you have to do it three times.
[01:24:50] And every time you do it, they attack you and then run away.
[01:24:55] And go into, like, go into a door and then respawn somewhere else.
[01:25:00] It's very time consuming.
[01:25:02] And every single time you have to do this, you have to usually do more than one person.
[01:25:05] So you have to do, like, three or four.
[01:25:07] And each one usually has to be done, like, three times.
[01:25:12] Um, the...
[01:25:12] It's fucking annoying.
[01:25:14] And, like, sometimes, once you start microwaving them, they'll run away.
[01:25:18] And that is...
[01:25:19] And if you walk into a room and startle them, they'll run away.
[01:25:22] Like, they're just constantly running away and shit.
[01:25:25] It is the most fucking frustrating thing in the entire game.
[01:25:27] And it brought the experience down significantly.
[01:25:29] Because I had to do this thing multiple times.
[01:25:32] Doing, like, random thing.
[01:25:34] Like, random, like, EX trials or whatever.
[01:25:37] Those are, like, the really short versions of it.
[01:25:40] Uh, it...
[01:25:41] It fucking...
[01:25:42] It's heinous.
[01:25:43] Uh, the fact that they can run away whenever you are, like, actively...
[01:25:47] Because it takes, like, ten seconds of, like, sitting there next to them holding the button down and looking at them before the thing actually, like, microwaves them.
[01:25:58] Uh, I hate that.
[01:25:59] I really hate it.
[01:26:02] Um, and if you get hit by a...
[01:26:04] If you're, like, there's an enemy nearby and they see...
[01:26:06] They walk into you and then they hit you.
[01:26:08] Like, it fucks the...
[01:26:09] Oh, it's just so annoying.
[01:26:11] Anyway.
[01:26:12] Uh, the next level, Pervert the Futterman.
[01:26:14] This one, uh, is a naked dude on a...
[01:26:20] Like, uh, like, uh...
[01:26:21] Like, a factory machine.
[01:26:22] Kind of, like, taking them through a factory.
[01:26:24] Like, a conveyor belt, but, like, in the sky.
[01:26:28] I don't know how to explain it.
[01:26:30] Uh, you know in Monsters, Inc.
[01:26:32] Where all the doors are, like, moving around on the rails and they're, like, hold...
[01:26:36] Like, Sully's, like, holding onto the door and they're, like, riding it?
[01:26:39] It's basically what this dude is.
[01:26:40] He's naked.
[01:26:42] He's strapped to this fucking box thing.
[01:26:44] And you're pouring wax all over him or something.
[01:26:47] I don't remember.
[01:26:48] The wax puzzle, uh, that's what I remember about this.
[01:26:50] It's super annoying.
[01:26:52] Uh, I didn't understand what to do for a long time.
[01:26:54] So this is the first mission that took us...
[01:26:56] Took me more than an hour to figure out.
[01:26:57] Because I did a lot of running.
[01:26:59] Also, this area is huge.
[01:27:01] So usually they slowly introduce areas to you.
[01:27:04] Like, a couple of, like, rooms at a time.
[01:27:08] Uh, but this one is just three giant warehouse areas that are both two stories.
[01:27:14] Uh, and then you just have the whole area.
[01:27:16] So I, like, walked to the end of the warehouse.
[01:27:19] And I'm, like, what the fuck am I supposed to do?
[01:27:21] And then I just fucked up.
[01:27:22] And the whole time you're, like, having to evade these enemies.
[01:27:25] And, like, this is where, uh, I mean, the fucking mother gooseberries walking around in this love area, too.
[01:27:32] So, it was very frustrating.
[01:27:34] Um, but, I mean, it wasn't, like, horrible.
[01:27:37] But it's, like...
[01:27:38] And so there are a bunch of different wax boxes as well.
[01:27:40] And the thing is that you have to look at the TV screen.
[01:27:43] And it tells you, like, a code.
[01:27:44] And if you grab the wrong wax box, it fucking hurts you.
[01:27:47] Uh, man, it's just...
[01:27:49] Damn, you know?
[01:27:50] I mean, if I did it again, I wouldn't have nearly as many problems with it.
[01:27:53] But, like, I...
[01:27:54] When I did it, it was a bad first-time experience.
[01:27:58] I'll just leave it at that.
[01:27:59] Leave it at that.
[01:28:02] Uh, so the next one, poison the machine.
[01:28:04] Or poison the medicine.
[01:28:06] This is the first time that you run into Franco.
[01:28:10] Um, you are poisoning cocaine, basically.
[01:28:13] Uh, the only thing I remember about this is at the very end,
[01:28:19] you cut these dudes open,
[01:28:21] and then you shove the drugs into them.
[01:28:26] Which is funny, because it's, like, they're alive.
[01:28:28] But I don't...
[01:28:29] They're alive, but they're inside of, like, body bags.
[01:28:33] Which is very weird.
[01:28:35] But also, when you're cutting them open, they stay alive.
[01:28:37] It's, like, why are these guys alive?
[01:28:38] How are they staying alive?
[01:28:40] Because you're, like, fucking fisting their lungs,
[01:28:44] basically trying to put the drugs in there.
[01:28:46] And then they stay alive the whole time.
[01:28:49] It's just very, very bizarre.
[01:28:52] Uh, then you have Pleasure the Prosecutor,
[01:28:55] which I think this is a new level.
[01:28:56] I think some of these levels are...
[01:28:58] were not in the original base game.
[01:29:00] But Pleasure the Prosecutor was a pretty cool one,
[01:29:04] because you had to get these mannequins.
[01:29:07] And so there's this dude that's, like, tied up to a chair,
[01:29:10] and there's mannequins around him.
[01:29:12] And then you get these mannequins...
[01:29:15] You switch out the tops of them for these mannequins that are sadists.
[01:29:19] And they each have weapons.
[01:29:20] And then you execute the guy by doing, like, a Simon Says minigame.
[01:29:25] Uh, and all...
[01:29:27] Every time you activate one, the mannequins each have a different weapon,
[01:29:30] and so they, like, hurt him in a different way.
[01:29:33] It's cool, because he's naked.
[01:29:35] And you can see his cock and balls there.
[01:29:36] But, like, one of them has a drill,
[01:29:38] and then they drill his dick off.
[01:29:40] And, um, when you go and look at it,
[01:29:42] uh, his dick is gone.
[01:29:43] But his balls are still there, so that's fun.
[01:29:44] You know, little, little, little neat little Easter egg for you.
[01:29:49] Two little eggs for you.
[01:29:51] Um, I mean, yeah, so, you know, the game is very grotesque and gruesome.
[01:29:57] But, uh, if you're into that kind of thing, it's whatever.
[01:30:01] I'm kind of indifferent, you know?
[01:30:03] I don't really care.
[01:30:05] All right, so, uh, that was just...
[01:30:07] Those were the main ones.
[01:30:08] You can do, like, these kind of miniature ones
[01:30:11] that are, like, 15 minutes long,
[01:30:12] rather than, like, the 45 to an hour
[01:30:15] that they're estimating for other games.
[01:30:16] Uh, I think they also have events going on.
[01:30:19] You...
[01:30:19] I mean, the whole time I played,
[01:30:21] there was a Christmas event going on.
[01:30:23] Um...
[01:30:24] Which was neat.
[01:30:25] Uh, there are these mines
[01:30:28] that whenever you step on them,
[01:30:29] they will poison you,
[01:30:31] and that'll...
[01:30:32] It'll make you lose your sanity.
[01:30:34] But in the Christmas event,
[01:30:35] they'll freeze you,
[01:30:36] and you have to, like, hide in order to warm up.
[01:30:39] The other thing is that
[01:30:41] the map would periodically freeze,
[01:30:43] and then you have to hide
[01:30:44] in order to stay warm.
[01:30:46] Um, I think there's, like,
[01:30:47] maybe one other thing going on,
[01:30:48] but I forget.
[01:30:49] So that was generally the Christmas event, though.
[01:30:51] You just had a bunch of different levels
[01:30:53] you can run through.
[01:30:54] Um, there's a lot of people
[01:30:55] playing this game.
[01:30:56] So, I was always finding groups
[01:30:58] whenever I would just search for randoms.
[01:31:00] I don't know how you get a group
[01:31:02] and, like, search...
[01:31:03] Like, get a group open to randoms,
[01:31:05] because I was never able to figure that out, but...
[01:31:10] IDK. LOL.
[01:31:14] Alright.
[01:31:15] So, other than the regular trials,
[01:31:17] you have this thing called
[01:31:18] the release protocol,
[01:31:20] which is the end of the game, basically.
[01:31:21] It's, like, whenever you're ready
[01:31:22] to be done with it.
[01:31:23] You have these 20, like, coins.
[01:31:25] I don't know what they are.
[01:31:26] They're 20 blue things.
[01:31:27] Uh, I think you get them
[01:31:28] for completing trials.
[01:31:30] Uh, maybe not,
[01:31:32] but I'm pretty sure
[01:31:32] that's how you get them.
[01:31:34] And once you have 20 of them,
[01:31:36] there's this room
[01:31:37] that's in the sleep room
[01:31:38] that is in between
[01:31:39] the two...
[01:31:40] the chessboard
[01:31:41] and the table
[01:31:43] for arm wrestling.
[01:31:44] It's right...
[01:31:44] And then right next to
[01:31:45] the leaderboard
[01:31:46] that's constantly updating.
[01:31:47] It's, like, a big
[01:31:48] high-traffic area,
[01:31:49] and there's this door
[01:31:50] that's open
[01:31:50] and then, like,
[01:31:51] there's, like,
[01:31:52] foliage on the other side.
[01:31:55] And, um,
[01:31:56] like, potted plants
[01:31:57] and stuff.
[01:31:57] Like, plants in the walls, right?
[01:32:00] And whenever you walk up to it,
[01:32:01] the door, like,
[01:32:02] bars off.
[01:32:03] Like, it's, like,
[01:32:04] an automatic motion sensor door.
[01:32:06] And there's a cop there
[01:32:07] that's, like,
[01:32:08] you know,
[01:32:08] you can't leave.
[01:32:10] And so,
[01:32:11] once you have 20 coins,
[01:32:12] you go up to him
[01:32:12] and you go,
[01:32:13] hey, uh,
[01:32:14] I want to ascend
[01:32:15] or whatever.
[01:32:16] Release protocol.
[01:32:17] And he reads you,
[01:32:19] like, you have to sign a form
[01:32:20] that's, like,
[01:32:20] hey, you're about to kill your...
[01:32:22] You're about...
[01:32:22] You're not kill your character,
[01:32:23] but, like,
[01:32:23] you're about to leave your character.
[01:32:24] And I was like,
[01:32:25] oh, this is, like,
[01:32:25] prestige or whatever?
[01:32:27] Not really.
[01:32:28] You know,
[01:32:28] I don't think you lose anything.
[01:32:29] I haven't actually played...
[01:32:31] The last thing I've done
[01:32:32] was do this release protocol.
[01:32:34] And that was 15 minutes
[01:32:35] before recording this episode.
[01:32:38] So, an hour ago now.
[01:32:39] But, um,
[01:32:42] I'm...
[01:32:43] As far as I'm aware,
[01:32:44] I didn't lose anything.
[01:32:44] Like, I didn't lose any
[01:32:45] achievement progress
[01:32:46] or anything like that.
[01:32:47] And I think I still have
[01:32:48] all of my, like,
[01:32:49] collectibles and stuff.
[01:32:50] You just unlock
[01:32:51] a few extra things.
[01:32:54] It's cool.
[01:32:55] It is a solo experience,
[01:32:56] so you can't do this
[01:32:57] with a friend.
[01:32:58] But, I mean,
[01:32:59] you and your friend
[01:33:00] could go together.
[01:33:01] So the cool thing was,
[01:33:02] this is the funny thing,
[01:33:03] right?
[01:33:04] Because this is happening
[01:33:05] in the sleep room
[01:33:06] and not in, like,
[01:33:07] a menu or something,
[01:33:08] there were, like,
[01:33:09] there were, like,
[01:33:09] five or six people
[01:33:10] standing around,
[01:33:11] you know,
[01:33:11] this area.
[01:33:12] Like I said,
[01:33:12] it's a high traffic area.
[01:33:13] People like to look
[01:33:14] at the leaderboard.
[01:33:15] They like to arm wrestle
[01:33:15] and whatever.
[01:33:16] And so people were
[01:33:17] standing around here.
[01:33:18] And then I turned in
[01:33:19] my coins.
[01:33:20] And they...
[01:33:21] And he was like,
[01:33:22] walk on through the door.
[01:33:23] And so I walked
[01:33:24] through the door.
[01:33:24] And as I walked through,
[01:33:26] I turned around
[01:33:27] and I saw, like,
[01:33:28] three of the five people
[01:33:29] walk up to the door.
[01:33:31] And then the door
[01:33:32] closed behind me.
[01:33:33] Like, it's a see-through.
[01:33:34] It's like bars.
[01:33:35] You know what I mean?
[01:33:35] It's like at the
[01:33:36] New York City subway.
[01:33:38] You know what I mean?
[01:33:39] Like, you could see
[01:33:40] through the bars.
[01:33:41] And so the bars
[01:33:42] closed behind me.
[01:33:43] And then I see
[01:33:44] two of them.
[01:33:45] Like, one of them,
[01:33:46] like, waved at me,
[01:33:47] like, hi.
[01:33:47] And then the other one
[01:33:48] was like,
[01:33:49] thank you.
[01:33:50] You know what I mean?
[01:33:50] Like, they were, like,
[01:33:51] waving me goodbye
[01:33:52] as I was leaving,
[01:33:54] like, my therapy,
[01:33:56] basically.
[01:33:57] And it was just...
[01:33:58] That just exemplifies
[01:34:00] this experience.
[01:34:00] You know what I mean?
[01:34:01] It is such a
[01:34:03] wholesome
[01:34:05] social experience.
[01:34:06] Even though I never
[01:34:07] talked to a single
[01:34:08] person in this game,
[01:34:09] I almost...
[01:34:10] I had nothing but
[01:34:11] positive interactions
[01:34:12] with everybody.
[01:34:13] You know what I mean?
[01:34:13] Everyone just seems to
[01:34:14] kind of be in the
[01:34:15] same mindset of just,
[01:34:17] like,
[01:34:17] this is...
[01:34:18] Like, let's make
[01:34:19] this silly because
[01:34:20] this is a stressful
[01:34:21] game.
[01:34:23] Let's be as silly
[01:34:24] as possible.
[01:34:25] And, uh,
[01:34:26] I don't know.
[01:34:26] I just really adore
[01:34:28] that about this game.
[01:34:29] You know?
[01:34:29] Like, how it brings
[01:34:30] people together to
[01:34:32] just be monkey.
[01:34:33] You know?
[01:34:34] Go straight monkey.
[01:34:38] Okay.
[01:34:39] So anyway,
[01:34:39] release protocol.
[01:34:40] You're basically
[01:34:41] doing the same
[01:34:42] old, same old.
[01:34:42] You're just doing
[01:34:43] it by yourself.
[01:34:44] And it's in the
[01:34:45] intro area,
[01:34:46] which is really cool.
[01:34:48] It's, like,
[01:34:48] where you start
[01:34:49] the game.
[01:34:50] And, uh,
[01:34:51] at the end,
[01:34:52] you kind of...
[01:34:53] Okay, so this
[01:34:54] was what was weird.
[01:34:55] So I don't know
[01:34:55] if it was a bug
[01:34:57] or something,
[01:34:57] but I specifically
[01:35:00] remember the
[01:35:02] intercom
[01:35:04] saying,
[01:35:05] uh,
[01:35:06] please exit
[01:35:07] the way you came
[01:35:07] in.
[01:35:08] And I left
[01:35:10] through the front
[01:35:10] of the building,
[01:35:11] but the way I came
[01:35:13] in was in the top
[01:35:14] floor.
[01:35:15] like,
[01:35:16] in the back
[01:35:16] of the building.
[01:35:17] So I went,
[01:35:18] like,
[01:35:18] the other way.
[01:35:20] Like,
[01:35:21] the opposite way
[01:35:22] of where I came
[01:35:22] in.
[01:35:23] And then,
[01:35:24] when the game
[01:35:24] ended,
[01:35:25] I got this,
[01:35:26] like,
[01:35:26] cutscene.
[01:35:27] So I don't know
[01:35:28] if that was,
[01:35:28] like,
[01:35:29] it's supposed to
[01:35:30] be that.
[01:35:31] I don't know
[01:35:32] why the intercom
[01:35:33] would tell me
[01:35:33] to go the way
[01:35:35] I came in
[01:35:36] if I didn't
[01:35:38] leave that way.
[01:35:40] So,
[01:35:41] I mean,
[01:35:41] I don't know.
[01:35:41] It's just weird.
[01:35:43] Um,
[01:35:43] and it felt
[01:35:44] like Portal.
[01:35:45] Like,
[01:35:45] there's this,
[01:35:46] like,
[01:35:46] in Portal,
[01:35:47] uh,
[01:35:47] there's this person
[01:35:48] called the Ratman,
[01:35:51] and the Ratman
[01:35:52] is,
[01:35:53] like,
[01:35:53] living in the
[01:35:54] walls,
[01:35:54] and whenever
[01:35:55] you find his
[01:35:56] dens,
[01:35:57] um,
[01:35:58] it's,
[01:35:58] like,
[01:35:59] behind the
[01:35:59] panels and
[01:36:00] stuff,
[01:36:00] right?
[01:36:01] And whenever
[01:36:02] I went that
[01:36:03] way,
[01:36:03] it kind of
[01:36:04] felt that way.
[01:36:05] Like,
[01:36:05] I was walking
[01:36:06] around behind
[01:36:06] the scenes,
[01:36:07] and then I
[01:36:08] entered a door
[01:36:09] that said
[01:36:10] employees only.
[01:36:11] So I'm like,
[01:36:11] this is weird.
[01:36:13] Um,
[01:36:14] and then,
[01:36:15] I mean,
[01:36:15] I guess,
[01:36:16] so I,
[01:36:16] I guess I'll just
[01:36:17] talk about the
[01:36:17] cutscene.
[01:36:17] At the end
[01:36:18] of the cutscene,
[01:36:18] it basically
[01:36:19] implies that,
[01:36:20] like,
[01:36:20] you're a sleeper
[01:36:21] cell.
[01:36:22] Like,
[01:36:22] all the people
[01:36:23] that is,
[01:36:24] that,
[01:36:24] uh,
[01:36:24] leave the therapy
[01:36:25] are just sleeper
[01:36:26] cells,
[01:36:26] and they're
[01:36:26] activated by
[01:36:28] eye,
[01:36:29] eye,
[01:36:30] spider,
[01:36:32] llama?
[01:36:33] I don't remember.
[01:36:34] There's the three
[01:36:35] words.
[01:36:36] It's eye,
[01:36:37] spider,
[01:36:37] and something else.
[01:36:40] Uh,
[01:36:40] but,
[01:36:41] uh,
[01:36:41] I don't want
[01:36:41] to trigger
[01:36:41] everyone and,
[01:36:42] like,
[01:36:43] make the sleeper
[01:36:43] cells wake up,
[01:36:44] so I'm just
[01:36:45] gonna pretend
[01:36:46] that that was
[01:36:46] on purpose
[01:36:46] that I forgot
[01:36:47] it.
[01:36:48] Um,
[01:36:49] or an accident,
[01:36:50] or whatever,
[01:36:51] I don't know.
[01:36:52] It is neat,
[01:36:53] you know what I
[01:36:53] mean?
[01:36:53] It's fun.
[01:36:54] It's a prequel
[01:36:55] to the original
[01:36:56] Outlast,
[01:36:56] so it's like,
[01:36:57] I guess that's
[01:36:57] the freaky people
[01:36:58] are,
[01:36:59] they're all from
[01:36:59] this.
[01:37:00] I don't know,
[01:37:01] I like it.
[01:37:02] But then it
[01:37:03] just boots you
[01:37:03] back up into,
[01:37:04] uh,
[01:37:05] into the game.
[01:37:06] Like,
[01:37:07] I'm glad that it
[01:37:08] doesn't,
[01:37:08] like,
[01:37:08] take all your
[01:37:09] shit away,
[01:37:09] because that
[01:37:09] would be
[01:37:10] frustrating.
[01:37:10] Uh,
[01:37:11] the other game
[01:37:11] mode,
[01:37:12] and the last
[01:37:13] thing I'm gonna
[01:37:13] talk about for
[01:37:13] my final words,
[01:37:14] is Escalation.
[01:37:15] Escalation is a
[01:37:16] bunch of mini
[01:37:16] trials that get
[01:37:17] progressively worse
[01:37:18] as you basically
[01:37:19] double down,
[01:37:20] like it's,
[01:37:21] uh,
[01:37:21] like it's
[01:37:22] Blackjack.
[01:37:22] Blackjack.
[01:37:24] Um,
[01:37:25] so basically,
[01:37:26] uh,
[01:37:27] at the end of
[01:37:28] each trial,
[01:37:29] you can go and
[01:37:29] do another trial,
[01:37:30] and then it just
[01:37:32] makes the,
[01:37:33] you have the same
[01:37:34] abilities.
[01:37:34] It's kind of like a
[01:37:35] roguelike.
[01:37:36] So the thing is,
[01:37:37] is that like,
[01:37:38] like I was saying
[01:37:39] before,
[01:37:39] you are able to
[01:37:40] like level up and
[01:37:40] like upgrade your
[01:37:43] abilities and
[01:37:43] different rigs and
[01:37:44] stuff like this,
[01:37:45] but in Escalation,
[01:37:46] you are a default
[01:37:47] character,
[01:37:49] and you
[01:37:51] get
[01:37:53] you get one
[01:37:54] like perk and
[01:37:55] then one
[01:37:57] skill
[01:37:59] before each level,
[01:38:00] and then you can
[01:38:01] like just upgrade the
[01:38:01] skill,
[01:38:02] upgrade the perk,
[01:38:03] or like get something
[01:38:03] different,
[01:38:04] like uh,
[01:38:05] in between each level.
[01:38:06] I've only played two
[01:38:07] missions,
[01:38:08] so I never,
[01:38:09] like I never went too
[01:38:10] far,
[01:38:11] because I was playing
[01:38:12] with Casey,
[01:38:12] and there's a,
[01:38:14] there's a problem
[01:38:15] where like,
[01:38:16] you have to play
[01:38:17] these in players
[01:38:18] in,
[01:38:18] in pods of four,
[01:38:20] but the people can
[01:38:21] just leave,
[01:38:23] and the,
[01:38:23] but the game will
[01:38:24] go on if you
[01:38:25] don't leave,
[01:38:27] so when I got to
[01:38:28] that second one,
[01:38:28] like the first one
[01:38:29] and the second one,
[01:38:30] there was four of us,
[01:38:30] and then when they
[01:38:31] went on to the third
[01:38:32] one,
[01:38:32] they left,
[01:38:32] and so I was
[01:38:32] like,
[01:38:33] oh,
[01:38:33] okay,
[01:38:33] never mind,
[01:38:34] but uh,
[01:38:37] yeah,
[01:38:37] so it's,
[01:38:38] it's pretty
[01:38:38] interesting,
[01:38:39] uh,
[01:38:39] unfortunately,
[01:38:40] I didn't get to
[01:38:40] play a whole lot
[01:38:41] of it.
[01:38:42] Alright,
[01:38:42] uh,
[01:38:42] so now we're
[01:38:43] going to be
[01:38:43] talking about
[01:38:44] the final words,
[01:38:44] uh,
[01:38:45] I don't know
[01:38:45] if you guys can
[01:38:47] tell by the way
[01:38:48] that I've been
[01:38:48] talking about this,
[01:38:48] but I really do
[01:38:49] enjoy this game.
[01:38:50] I was shocked,
[01:38:51] actually,
[01:38:51] because I wasn't
[01:38:52] a huge fan of
[01:38:53] Outlast,
[01:38:54] and I actually
[01:38:54] think it's like
[01:38:55] when you're making
[01:38:56] a multiplayer
[01:38:56] Outlast,
[01:38:57] it just feels
[01:38:57] like a cash-in,
[01:38:58] it just feels
[01:38:59] kind of scummy
[01:38:59] a little bit,
[01:39:01] uh,
[01:39:01] it feels like
[01:39:01] you're betraying
[01:39:02] your,
[01:39:03] your core audience,
[01:39:04] but I feel like
[01:39:06] this is actually
[01:39:07] a really interesting
[01:39:08] take on a
[01:39:10] cooperative,
[01:39:11] uh,
[01:39:12] PvE
[01:39:12] multiplayer game.
[01:39:14] Um,
[01:39:15] I'm really happy
[01:39:16] that I ended up
[01:39:17] buying this game
[01:39:18] kind of on a whim
[01:39:18] and just like,
[01:39:20] uh,
[01:39:21] just putting myself
[01:39:21] out there and
[01:39:22] fucking with it.
[01:39:23] Um,
[01:39:23] it's not a very
[01:39:24] expensive game,
[01:39:24] it's like 20 bucks,
[01:39:25] I got it for like
[01:39:26] 13 or 14 dollars
[01:39:27] on sale,
[01:39:27] um,
[01:39:28] I think it probably
[01:39:29] is gonna start
[01:39:29] going on sale
[01:39:30] more and more,
[01:39:31] um,
[01:39:32] and,
[01:39:33] I don't know,
[01:39:33] man,
[01:39:34] I think 20 bucks
[01:39:34] is a good price
[01:39:35] for this,
[01:39:36] um,
[01:39:37] especially with all
[01:39:37] like the,
[01:39:38] the replay value,
[01:39:39] there's a lot
[01:39:39] of replay value
[01:39:40] here,
[01:39:40] you can continue,
[01:39:41] because I just
[01:39:42] played on the
[01:39:42] normal difficulty,
[01:39:43] but like,
[01:39:43] there are modifiers
[01:39:45] and stuff whenever
[01:39:45] you go on higher
[01:39:46] difficulties,
[01:39:47] and the
[01:39:48] communities here,
[01:39:49] still,
[01:39:50] I mean,
[01:39:50] the game's
[01:39:51] almost,
[01:39:52] it's getting close
[01:39:53] to a year old,
[01:39:54] and,
[01:39:55] uh,
[01:39:55] there's definitely
[01:39:56] still a lot of
[01:39:56] people still,
[01:39:57] uh,
[01:39:58] goofing around in
[01:39:58] this game,
[01:39:59] a couple of
[01:40:00] lifers,
[01:40:01] you would call
[01:40:01] them,
[01:40:02] uh,
[01:40:03] yeah,
[01:40:03] so,
[01:40:04] I recommend
[01:40:04] this game,
[01:40:05] uh,
[01:40:06] it's not on
[01:40:07] game bass,
[01:40:07] but it seems
[01:40:07] like a game
[01:40:08] that might drop
[01:40:08] on game bass
[01:40:09] eventually,
[01:40:09] or maybe
[01:40:09] playstation plus
[01:40:10] or something,
[01:40:11] um,
[01:40:12] yeah,
[01:40:14] anyway,
[01:40:14] uh,
[01:40:17] next week,
[01:40:18] whenever Philip
[01:40:18] is here,
[01:40:19] we're gonna be
[01:40:19] talking about
[01:40:21] brighter skies,
[01:40:22] I think the
[01:40:22] game is called,
[01:40:24] brighter shores,
[01:40:25] sorry about that,
[01:40:26] um,
[01:40:27] so,
[01:40:27] and it's got an
[01:40:28] update,
[01:40:28] so I might as
[01:40:29] well update that
[01:40:29] right now,
[01:40:31] but it's basically
[01:40:31] runescape again,
[01:40:34] um,
[01:40:35] so I'm looking
[01:40:36] forward to that,
[01:40:36] and then afterwards,
[01:40:38] I'm thinking that,
[01:40:39] uh,
[01:40:40] well,
[01:40:40] I mean,
[01:40:40] we can talk about
[01:40:41] that later,
[01:40:42] anyways,
[01:40:42] uh,
[01:40:43] thank you so much
[01:40:43] for listening,
[01:40:44] and I don't know
[01:40:45] how to end the
[01:40:46] episode,
[01:40:47] goodbye,
[01:40:48] goodbye,
[01:40:48] goodbye,
[01:40:51] matane,
[01:40:52] matane,
[01:40:52] matane.
