[00:00:13] Hello and welcome back to Video Games Analyzed. This is the podcast where you can check it out and listen to... We discuss video games, classic and retro video games, and tell you whether or not they're worth playing today. Or whenever you're listening to this in the future. It doesn't have to be a one-time thing, it can be any time.
[00:00:41] But sometimes they're not worth playing. And I have a guest with me today and sitting in his chair, wherever he's at, is Aaron. Hi Aaron, how's it going? Wait, can you hear me alright? Yeah, yeah, totally. Hold on, hold on. I can hear you. Okay, okay. Hey, thanks for having me Tommy. It's great to be here for the first time.
[00:01:10] Yeah, thank you again. Yeah, no problem. Today, we're going to give our expert insight and analysis into Portal 2. It's the second game in the Portal series and was developed and published by Valve in the Source engine and came out in 2011 for the personal computer and also consoles.
[00:01:39] And it's a video game where you've seen it a million times, but you shoot portals into walls and then you walk through the portals to go from one side to the other. And you kind of just make your way through levels and there's a story as well. This is another video game that has a story.
[00:02:04] And this one is you you play as you are Chell is the name of your character and you are going through these portals to to make advancements in the story.
[00:02:22] And it it really appealed to me in in many ways, whether it be graphically or controls or the puzzle solving. But they it had it had those elements to it. And I'd love to hear hear your thoughts on it, Aaron. Did you play the right game? Oh, I thought Portal Portal 2 had the two robot guys. Chell was from the first game.
[00:02:52] So I think you're thinking of the multiplayer version. There is a there is a co-op story as well. I don't I didn't have anyone to I live alone. OK, well, we'll hang on. Technically, technically, this is the third game in the series because there was Portal still alive in between the first game in this game. So so listeners, this is technically the third.
[00:03:22] Don't let me talk. Sorry, continue. I just don't like you talking to the listeners. If you could just talk to me, the host and I if I have anything that I feel should be relayed to the listeners, I will relay it to them. So say what you said before, but say it to me and I will decide if the listeners should know. OK, Tommy, technically, the Portal 2 is the third game in the series because the second one.
[00:03:51] Well, the one that came out after the first portal was Portal still alive. And that was like a standalone game had its own little follow up story. And so Portal 2 was was that was the third one technically. So this is the second game in the series because there's a two in the title. There's Portal and Portal 2. If it was the third game in the series, there would be a three.
[00:04:21] But there is not. And but that's not not totally. What did you think of the game here? Well, I mean, so circling back to being Portal 2, I mean, you have like so you have. Yeah, I'm shaking my head. So you have fast and furious, right? And then it goes to to fast and furious, Tokyo drift. And then to fast to furious. No, it goes fast and furious to fast to furious and then fast and furious Tokyo drift.
[00:04:51] That's it's the third one. Wait, what? Yes. Oh, my God. Have you been watching them in the wrong order? Well, yeah, Portal 2 was cool. Yeah, a lot. You do a lot of cool things with portals. The companion cube is pretty cool. I liked him. The cake is still a lie. The cake is a lie. Everything is everything's.
[00:05:21] That's a really good line. Oh, yeah. Sorry. No, you're fine. The sorry. I almost said the listeners. Sorry, Tommy. The puzzles were really interesting. You slap puzzles. They're not puzzles. Portals here and there to complete the puzzles. Great game. I would love to play it again. Yeah, let's let's get to our reviews. I sum it up.
[00:05:50] It's a good video game and I give it. Five stars and then a cake. But then the cake is going to not be there because the cake is lying. I don't get that. All right. So I I'm going to give it. You know, I liked it. That was a really good game. I'm going to go two stars and we'll give it. You know what? We'll give it. Look at three companion cubes. We'll get a full five.
[00:06:16] But you know that the the companion cubes are worth way more in a in, you know, in British pounds than they are. Then a star is, you know, I'm I'm looking at the guidelines and I'm not seeing a conversion rate for companion cubes. We have we have other conversions, but that that's not one of them on the list. So if you could you please rescore it? No, I promise you that's real. All right. Five stars, five stars and one companion cube.
[00:06:46] Just just please just one. OK, I will. We'll leave it on the on the audio, but we'll we'll remove it when we publish. But otherwise, that's portal to the analyzed. Thanks for listening and keep on gaming.
