Is Horizon 6 the Best Forza Game? AMD Failings, Steam Deck Price, Witcher 3 DLC & More

Hello everybody, and welcome to another episode of the Elder Trolls Gaming podcast. If you are new and joining us today, we are two brothers who get together and talk about gaming. We may also talk tech, TV, movies, and other nerdy geeky stuff too, And today will be an episode about nothing, episode about nothing too. I mean we have to use that thumbnail again. We will talk about things. There's things to talk about, there's things to talk about. Nothing crazier. We'll just go for over some news. What we've been playing, No main crazy topic or anything like that. Well, how's it going, how's going? What are we doing? Nothing? I hey, well it's unfortunate, that's fine, that's fine. They're a young team. You know, they're gonna experience these things. They're not gonna make the fucking win the Cup in their first run. Vegas did know? They did that? Pretty sure they did. No, they came into the league and then they won the Cup. I think they went to the finals. But okay, whatever, same thing. No, But I found an interesting stat today and it disgusts me. And it's something we've complaining about, complaining about for the last I don't even know how long. So for those who don't know. NHL Stanley Cup Finals start on Tuesday. We got the Vegas Golden Knights against the Carolina Hurricane. Okay, seven of the NHL teams out of thirty two are from states without income tax. Okay, how do you don't have income tax? Look at this stat of the last seven Stanley Cup champions are from these tax free states, and ten of the last fourteen finalists Cup finalists are from these states, despite only seven out of thirty two of these teams in the league. So I guess players will go there get less pay but not have to pay. Taxes, yes, and caps, and it counts less against the salary cap, even though teams here and teams in states and in Canada where they have to pay full tax, we have to pay them more against our salary cap, which means there's less money for other players, for depth players. So like, this is such a no brainer thing that they should they need to fucking address Like it's crazy, it's insane. It's a huge advantage. Ten of the last fourteen finalists. Like, there's a reason why fucking Florida teams are all aways in the goddamn finals because people take they take a pay cut on the cap, but they still actually make the same as they would paying out Yeah, as they would in like Canada or something like that. It's so bad, Like it's such a stupid thing. They need to change the rules they give. You have to give a percentage more cap for those teams without. Like like a like a handicap. Like, no, that's extra, Like you give them more money to spend on the cap. You give them a higher cap, or the teams with no state tax should have a lower down salary cap. Yeah, that's what it should be, because this is ridiculous. It's such a huge advantage. Anyway, anyway, that starts Tuesday. Folks should started a hockey podcast. No things. Anyway, we've been playing games. Probably been playing the same game. Who yeah, a couple of the same Games's dog games, doggy Back there, I got one. He was abound there. But yeah, we've been playing Forts of Horizon. I've been playing Forts Horizon, Forts Horizon six and Diablo four. Played back, played through the story mode on the new the new expansion. I enjoyed that. I enjoyed that story very cool. Yes, it was excellent, ow stop. Very cool. The end of the I guess spoiler alert, But the end of the Mephisto chapter, the Mephisto saga, I guess you could call it. I think everyone knew that was the end of it. Yeah, but I'm interested to see the next. What the next is? There's it's crazy. So I was played a before and the story is so good, and the characters and the voice acting and the music and everything in the package in its package, it's so good. But then after the story, like no matter how, the just keep adding all this stuff right to try to like appease the end game like gamers, you know, and it's so much stuff that I'm just like. Wow, what do you mean? It's the same stuff usually it's just and they're just more on top. They have the leaderboards at least now. They didn't even have that before, like when it first like. The tower and all that. That's really cool. But the game runs like absolute suh. It's awful and I just can't play. What are they doing on PC? Specifically? Yeah, the lag sole laggy, the lag and on PS five perfectly fine, smooth, no lag. I wonder what it is? What in the hell is this? Like it was brutal, the rubber banding, the like the network is so bad on PC and then just fine on PS five. It's ridiculous. It was unplayable. They patched it, like they patched it maybe a week or two ago. It's still bad. But the other night before that it was even worse. It was actually unplayable. It was unplayable. I was like, I cannot play this, and then after the patch it's still bad but playable. I can't. I don't understand, Like how high is it? I don't know. Like I I jump in and like every city or town I go to Portal too, it's like I'm waiting like sixty seconds for it to just get into the city and stop lagging. And then when I'm running around, it's like yeah yeah, and I'm like I can't. I can't do this. And then I'll go to like hell Tide and it's the same ship. I'm just like I'll run and then it'll rewind me back and I'm like, what the fuck is happening? And it's so bad. It's so fucking bad. I stopped playing. I can't play it, And I'm like do they know about this? Like are they are they aware? How fucking they know? They patch? They know about it, but like I went even after the patch, I went back a couple of nights ago, and I was like, this is fucking brutal, so bad. You know what's not like that Path of Exile two. Oh, it's so good. I haven't saw a very long time. So they just came out with this massive expansion yesterday. Oh really like the biggest content patch since launch, like since the game came out. Like it's huge. So I was like, oh, maybe I'll jump back in, and like, uh, on release date, I was able to get in. I was able to play without issues, without rubber banding, without lagging, without bullshit. Man, and there's tons of people running around. I go to the town, I'm in the town. I go here, I take portals. It's no problem. It's no fucking problem. The only thing, the only issue I have with Path of Exile too is you have to be you have to have a PhD in like mathematics and and fucking I don't know what to to gear your character and level fast. I find the leveling so slow and Path of Exile too compared to Diablo because like the the enemy waves or the enemy packs are very few in between, like they're yeah, like I'm running aund the mat. I'm like, where the hell are they all the bad guys? Like back when it came out there, that was the problem, and they patched it and they made it more enemies. They put more enemies. Maybe that's why it runs better, just because there's not as many enemies. I don't know, but like, like, and then I google, like does anybody start a new season and actually get to max level, like and end game content in a season? And this there's like level there's a level guides out there like get to sixty in five hours or get to sixty in three hours, Like what the fuck? It's taken me like twenty hours to get to like fucking level forty. It's crazy. So I mean, I'm looking at it one of these guys now, and I'm trying it out to see how fast. I can level it up. But from the beginning, yeah, I gonna try Sorcerer. Sure. I don't even remember I played a hunter. I was a poison poisonous. And then I was watching some guys videos like all you need is use legendary items when your level like one or ten or something. How do you get that ship? What it's like this bow that it just rains down like fire arrows and shit like that, and just we're just running through the map like what the fuck? People are crazy? But like I just find it's just. There. The story isn't good in Path of the Exilty, like I'm I can't really follow it, like what the hell's going on? Whatever, But like everything else, everything else is so good, Like the the amount of customization for your character on that skill tree is insane? Is this absolutely? And just like the grind, the feel of the Grind, I find is better. I don't know. I think it's a better version of Diablo four. Like whenever I play Path of Exile two, I'm like, oh yeah, this is better, you know, And then Diablo fours I play for the story and then I kind of fall off because it's like pretty shallow in terms of, uh, like what you're doing. But I haven't even got to the end game once yet in Path of Exile two, Like I'd like to experience the end game and Path of Exile two, So that's what I'm gonna try to do this fucking season. I try to get there. Okay, yeah, I try to get there. Do some maps, you know, all that kind of shit. But I have yet to fucking get to the end Path of Exile two. Wow. Oh and Path of exl two also doesn't have FSR three or four, it is just f SR two, so I had to opt the scaler FSR four in there inject FSR four into Path of Exile two. I just want to shout out to the optuser guys, thank you for your service for us A M D users, you know, like, thank you so much. If we could donate to you, we would, but apparently it's against the rules. That's why they don't ask for donations, because they're like using n video like DLLs and shit like that. It's crazy. Shit, could you imagine pay actually fucking us the technology that are available in the latest and greatest hardware, Like imagine that, Like, holy crap. But we know why, Like what's the fucking point? What is the point? I'm pretty sure Nvidia pays them not to even look at AMD's like for years, they'll they'll pay them like x amount, like like instead of exclusivity deals, it's like exclusivity tech like timed tech deals or something like that. So like you won't see FSR three in these end video games for fucking years. You know what I mean, that's gonna I swear that's what they're doing. That's not gonna sell make people, Like I feel like, that's not really gonna make people buy in video cards. It is when they start locking shit behind in video Like they've already locked path tracing behind in video cards for like three or four titles. Now, which are four? I bet you which are four? Is going to be locked behind in video for something because they're using that new Nvidia like geometry Fucking this weird tech shit. The geometry tree environment isn't the unreal five? Oh? Is that what it was? Isn't uh the new which aer four gonna be unreal five? Yeah? But I think they've got some Nvidia ship out there. It's fucking disgusting. Yes, art x art X Mega geometry tech. Yeah, there you go, foiliage and Environment, Mega Geometry Cutting Edge. That's the LSS four point five times. The developers are just sellouts, basically, they're just sellouts TOUN video. It's a shame. Now. I'm gonna like if I if What's Your four comes out in twenty twenty nine. Twenty nine, is that when it's supposed to come out, it's. Gonna be a while. Well, we'll jump into some news next, but I I have a feeling it's gonna be like twenty twenty eight, the end of twenty twenty eight, probably twenty twenty nine. M and by that I'm gonna have to get a new card three years from now. Maybe yep, it's gonna be in video. Fortunately. Yeah, AMD hasn't really done much to uh hasn't really done much to sway or to keep or to even gain people like, like, how are they not pushing for people to use FSR four FSR four They're pushing it out under their older cards right. Officially, there's starting support finally for f SR four on on the six thousand and seven thousand. People going to the six thousand two I think, oh yeah, seven. I believe so can we, uh, Jamie can? The official FR four point one brings machine learning basic based up scaling native to other architectures. Well rdn A three GPUs lacked the specialized FP eight AI accelerators, they can do. It is an optimized I n T eight model to run FSR smoothly on rDNA three. So yes, in other words, and it's not gonna get you as much performance as it would on the newer on the newer architecture, but it was it's something people were complaining about, and they were like, all right, fine, but like, what's the point if no one supports f SR four in the games? Like hello ye? And why what is the problem here? I read? I read that there's so many people leaving AMD before they like they're like their revolving door of like engineers and programs this shit. They just leave AMD and they get hired by in Video or they just go somewhere else because AMD, like the company itself, just is just not good. I can't remember where I read that AMD ployees. And then maybe another thing is like, okay, well how many of it, like according to Steam like graphics charts, like how many people are using AMD graphics cards? We have? Wow, all video cards. It's all in video and Intel intil integrated graphics. Okay AMD? Oh my god, the g FO thirty sixty is still the top dog in Steam yeh April twenty twenty six. Yeah, four point one five percent use A thirty sixty. That's the highest card four percent of gamers and the highest AMD AMD radion TM Graphics doesn't even say what GPU, so I don't know what the fuck that is. There's these are not even discrete GPUs, these are probably integrated. Wow, seventy eight hundred XT is the highest GPU of one point twenty nine percent of users. Seventy eight hundred XT the highest. They can't do AMD from seventy three percent in Vidia eighteen percent AMD. So eighteen percent of users in Steam use AMD. And since FSR four was only available to you know, the newest cards, then that means let's see the nine thousand series, dude, Like, no, like five percent or something ninety, like a ninety sixty. It's not even on there. Ninety seventy point one eight percent of users zero point one eight percent have a ninety seventy. So like, why would they put FSR four for point one eight percent of users? That's fucking crazy. So no wonder, no wonder, nobody does. Yeah, so now that it's went down to the older cards, maybe they'll give a shit. Yeah, because now eighteen percent of people can use it instead of point or one percent. Yeah, one percent. Wow, it's still it's still crazy though, Like they're always behind, they're always just because they don't have the capital of Nvidia. They don't have the the employee retain rate they don't have, like they just can't keep up, and and video just strangles them out of the market like constantly. So like there's gonna be I don't know, man, I bet AMD stops making gaming gps altogether in the next. Like ten years, five years, six Maybe it's all like fifty seventy, it's all the lowest shit GPUs thirty fifty forty sixty thirty sixty fifty seventy extra bitch, that's pretty good. Actually, three percent fifty seventy is a good card. Someone like what two percent still have a sixteen fifty. But like AMD, like these are built in graphics onboard graphics, AMD Radio eight, so it could be that could be steam Deck or like Legion gos and shit, yeah, probably steam Deck actually, but they're seventy eight hundred XT is the highest discrete AMDGP with one point twenty nine percent seventy nine hundred XDX zero point four five percent. Wow, half a percent. It's not they're they're fucking on man, It's crazy, and I like it sucks because I'd rather buy AMD, but not if they're not if they're not making any progress. You know, Yeah, that's it. All they can do is support try to support them by what tits up exactly? What's when do we be like, Okay, I've tried to support you, I've given you enough time. Yeah, you're not doing anything here. So that's that. Then you transform from advocate. You're an advocate, you're a you're almost like an activist, you're a graphics activist. And then you just have to transition to being a gamer and being someone who just wants the best experience and the easiest, you know, the easiest experience and the best experience. Like what they have to do, like it's crazy. I mean this might help the adding the FSR four onto the other cards. So now that actually, you know, eighteen percent of the people, maybe more people will buy them because they are cheaper. Improve FSR four, like try to get it a lot better so that it can rival the LSS. And then like I'm not I'm not upset about the quality of FSR four. I think it's actually fantastic. The quality of FSR four, like quality mode and native anti a LA scene, Like when I put that on, the games look fantastic. I can't even tell that I have the upscaling one like when I flip it on and off. But like, we need games to get it, We need games to have that shit built in, and we can't do that because there's not enough AMD users and developers. Like why would we spend the time to do that? Yeah, right, So maybe this will up the numbers of the AMD users and then hopefully developers will give a shit. But like even the PSSR two, it's an uphill battle. Yeah, the PSSR two is based on or built on, if I'm not mistaken, like FSR four. It's like a so like all these console ships have it, but it's like up to I guess they the console manufacturers to engineer and come up with their own upscaling, Like why don't they just use FSR four. If they used FSR four, then developers will put it into more games, you know what I mean? Yeah, like at PS five. If PS five just used FSR four. Millions and users it has like it was a specific rendition. It's like it uses some of the technology from FSR four. It's not exactly f STAR four because it does I don't think it can. Oh and it's only on the PS five Pro right now. It's not on PS five, So right right, very lame, and I'm not looking forward to the day where i have to bend over to the Nvidia fucking people. This is the most I've ever played any Fortsa game. Probably, I don't know what it is. I think it's just the Japan, the setting, the drift culture, the too gay racing, you know, the mind g they call it manga mangi is like drifting, not around corners, you know, drifting on a straight road, just going back and forth, and like that's what you're supposed to do in the in those drift like the drift point, the drift challenges, you just keep drifting. You just drift just fishtail the whole way, even though you're not going around corners. But but like like watching Initial D way back when, like this, this is what it is, and that's why, like I hate I don't like the cross country that this, the buggy races, all that ship. I don't like that. I want to be on a road or downhill race. So I filtered all that shit out. So playing this game, there's so much stuff on that map. It's like plot PLoP, plot my god, my god. So I went and Tony was like, just what I did is I just filtered the stuff that I wanted to do. Yeah, So I just took out all the ship that I don't want to like all that crap, So I do. I like my rally racing, and I like the drifting, and I like the street racing. That's fucking it. Like I don't like doing anything else. I don't want to do the cross country shit and these stupid like off road vehicles that are like horrible. Yeah, I like the trucks and she don't want to drive a truck. No, yeah, or like those weird buggies that I cannot drive them and there's only two that you can use. I'm like, I don't like this car that I have for this race because it was some stupid, weird like little buggy that was rear wheel drive and all it did was spin out like there had no traction. There was no traction at all. And I'm like, I hate this car, so I'll go buy recommended car. It's either that one or one other that I can use. I'm like, what the hell, and I bought the other one. It was the same fucking thing, and I was like, these races are shit, like I'm never using I'm never racing another one. Those are like the cross country trail ones that anyway. I like the toolgay, the downhill race, the drifting, the street racing, anything on concrete I'll race. I like rally. I like rally too. The dirt races are cool, but not if I have to use one of those ship buzzies. Yeah, I do it, because there's like those rally races that is an actual track, and then there's rally races that are kind of like those cross country things, and I try to stay away from those. I do the track ones. Yeah, you can highlight thing on a track. You highlight the icon and it shows like a track, right, but. But yeah, the the game, I liked it. I don't know. I like the I did the Drift Club because I just like the cars. I like the the culture like Tokyo Drift my favorite Fast and Furious movies, just because of the cars and the and the drifting. I just love it. And like initial d ship. You get in a hatchi roku and you going drifting? Are you going racing downhill? I love that. It's great and I didn't get that from any other of the other sports of games obviously since they were not in Japan. Yeah, I like, I liked, I like it, but every time I go to play it, I do like two racism, Like I'm done with this, not me. I just love bombing around. And yeah, I usually get sick of racing games pretty quickly, but. I I'm about done with it. I'm almost done with it. Yeah, I'm almost dumb with it. And like doing the like the horizon events, like like the the ship you have to sit through, like the talking and the stupid voice acting. Yeah, it's weird you can't skip any of that. I'm like, uh, just let me skip it. This is so lame. Just shut up and let me fucking race. Let me race your stupid giant robot, or you're freaking planes or whatever, like it has nothing to do with well, I guess the giant robot had. Giant Robot was cool Japan, but like the planes and all this other weird stuff, It's like, okay. And I'm a I'm a big anti fan. How do you say that, I'm not a fan. I guess an anti fan. I'm not a fan of slow mo in movies and video games, like slow mo slow mo. You know when in Super Mario movie, when like anything, anything that happens, they do a slow mo stupid slow mo facial like like that kind of shit. I fucking hate that stuff. So whenever it puts, when somebody puts a slow mo like during an action sequence and then they like drive to like this apex and then they jump out and then it has to go slow motion, they have to slow motion thing in there, you know what I mean, Like, stop slowing my game down, Stop slowing. Movies like the action scene like you're going up A huge hate. I hate SloMo, but yeah, I think I'll stop playing it. I got nothing. I rented game pass. Yeah, same nineteen dollars to play. I think that's fine. I mean, I've I've got like twenty five hours in. It probably took some. It took some good screens, some good It runs well. I think it runs well, probably because they I think they may be dumb the graphics down a little bit. The cars look nice, but like the environments maybe aren't amazing, and maybe the effects, like the particle effects and stuff. It says I've played for one point two days whatever that means twenty six hours but still looks fine. Well, Wow, what are you looking at when you're driving two three hundred klometers an hour? Yeah, you're looking at cars look good? Yeah, the car looks great. The cars look amazing, amazing. They've got all the ray tracing and you can crank up too. And it's good for photomode. The photomode is really cool because they like blur. Yeah, like make it look like you're driving like that. Changed the aperture and all that stuff. Yeah, and you mid drift, man, I go around the corner and then you go to photo mode or like in the middle of your drift. YEP. That's sick. That's sick. And I've just been driving the Hatchi Roku the whole time. I don't get out of that car. Really, it's not going to win many races. No, it doesn't. But look, I can't stop driving, don't. It's sweet? Man, imagine having one of those. So it's the things that you just cannot You couldn't be able to find one of those around here, No way, no, no, no fucking way no. Yeah, I know, and I'm like it was no real really different than any I mean, except for the Japanese. The culture of street racing in Japan is just way cool than anything they've done so far. In Horizon what else? Like, where were the other one in Mexico, Australia, it's all deserts Europe? Was it in Europe? I don't mean, I don't remember. Yeah, there was one in like France or something, the last one and like niche niche nice? Is that where it was that Mexico Forts Horizon locations? I think there was one in. Color Forts A Horizon was Colorado, Oh the first one, Okay, yeah, Forts? Horizon two is southern France and northern Italy. Yeah yeah, Horizon three was Australia, Horizon four was UK Rising, five was Mexico, Prising six Japan. So out of all those, like Japan, is the coolest fucking car place for me anyway. That Europe is cool, but but Japan is is different. It hits differ. Yeah, it's pretty good. It's very hilly clubs and stuff like that. But oh yeah double that one. First of all, for a digital key to just run out, and then I guess there's a physical as well, a physical game shortage for this game. They sold like one point five million copies in less in the first two hours or something like that. I was part of my want to just jump into news then. Yeah, okay, let's jump into it. Yeah, and it was there's a big delay, And then he looked into it and I guess there was a shortage of physical copies. So I'm like, well, there's a shortage of freaking keys too. On fanatical, I could have got it for ten dollars off. So now my only option is to buy it on Steam for fucking ninety dollars dollars, or on PS five for ninety three dollars, or I could spend. I could get a five dollars gift card from Microsoft Points and buy it through the Microsoft You have that many, yeah, I have like six thousand or something. I think it's thirty seven hundred for a five dollars gift card. So Io Interactive's first non Hitman game in a decade, Double O seven First Light hits one point five million copies sold in less than a day. That's why you're short. They didn't foresee the demand. Maybe it didn't, I don't know. It was like when they launched I was like, okay, yeah, I'll definitely I'll play that when it's like forty bucks, you know. But then they released that they like leak thirteen minute footage and it looked pretty polished and. Like good good reviews. Yeah, look pretty sweet. People are saying it's kind of like an Uncharted style adventure, which I like. Uncharted for was one of my bibert games. Like definitely, I'm so I really want to play it, but I don't want to pay ninety dollars. I would pay eighty these practical I also kind of want to sit on my couch and play it if it's a cool adventure game. Yeah, so I don't really want to get it on PC if I don't have to, but I don't want to pay ninety three dollars for it on fucking Xbox or on PS five. And you don't want to play it at thirty fps on PS five. Oh, maybe maybe I play this game. Maybe I play this game at thirty fps ten eightyp. Well, I don't know. I haven't looked at the reviews how it runs on PS five or what kind of options or whatever it has, but let's see seven first. Maybe Light Performance PS five is a technical standout on PS five and PS five pro. On the bass. On the basic stand double seven Light offers a quality mode targeting thirty fps and a performance mode targeting sixty fps.
