[00:03:07] So what did I do this week? I played Dragon Quest, the first one for the first time ever. And

[00:03:13] beat it last night. And two in the morning. Two in the morning. You were up that late.

[00:03:18] No, I went to bed at two in the morning. I beat it like at 127 or something.

[00:03:21] I think you were still awake. Was I? No. Yeah, I think so.

[00:03:26] I went to sleep before one. Are you sure? Yeah. Doesn't matter.

[00:03:30] Anyways, I beat it. So I get Dragon Quest now. I ate was the worst game to start with in my opinion

[00:03:37] because I didn't like eight. So I'm going to go and make my way through the Dragon Quest games now.

[00:03:44] Two will probably be next and then so on and so forth until I've played all of them.

[00:03:47] To chronologically. Should I? Yeah. They burst through.

[00:03:52] Thrac were saying that two was like not as good as one. So we'll see. Maybe it goes

[00:03:59] Kip two and go straight to four. Maybe. Yeah. So yeah, Dragon Quest. Awesome. Good times. It was a

[00:04:04] $3 on the eShop. So I got it for like $3. I got the all three games. It was less than

[00:04:10] $10 for all three. So that was pretty good, pretty good purchase.

[00:04:16] So you forced me to watch something last night. I did. What was it? Has been hotel. What is it?

[00:04:23] It is a cartoon on Amazon Prime about hell and demons and hell who are trying to be better

[00:04:34] because life kind of sucks in hell. Yeah.

[00:04:39] Had you heard about it before? I'd only seen some stuff about it on Instagram

[00:04:47] because the lady who makes the earrings that I love so much. She is doing some husband hotel stuff.

[00:04:54] But the reason I decided to start watching it this week was because on one of my recent

[00:05:03] Discover Weekly playlists because I listened probably because I listened to a lot of Disney music.

[00:05:09] Granted, this is definitely not Disney appropriate music. Oh no Keith Davis there singing about

[00:05:15] being a fucking loser. But because I have a playlist with Keith David on it, it put on my

[00:05:21] Discover Weekly playlist that loser baby song with Keith David. And I'm listening to it like a crazy

[00:05:30] person. It's like, you know what? I need to watch the show. So I started watching it and yeah,

[00:05:36] it's great. It's pretty fun. We watched three episodes of it. Yeah, it's interesting. You

[00:05:43] liked the music. I was really afraid you'd be very turned off by the music. Too much singing.

[00:05:48] There is a lot of singing, but there's at least good funny songs. They're almost all of them are funny.

[00:05:55] Some like about Adam's song was really funny. And he's like, guitar solo, you were on your phone

[00:06:02] for that part. I watched it. I didn't. I really liked that song on the third episode towards the end.

[00:06:10] But that wasn't funny. It wasn't funny, but it was a very good song. Everybody that sang could sing.

[00:06:17] I can't wait till we get to lose her baby. It wasn't just actor singing because that's what they

[00:06:22] know. It was like real people that could really sing. And the song itself, the

[00:06:28] fucking instruments, the noises they made were good. And because I grew up in a band whose church

[00:06:33] and under a rock, I didn't know anything about Lilith. You had to tell me about that.

[00:06:37] I thought that was just something I made up for the show. Yeah, no, it's real.

[00:06:41] I was, I feel like my whole life is a lie. Honestly. There's so much that they didn't teach you

[00:06:48] from the Bible. Well, like now that you say that I do feel like I remember at some point hearing

[00:06:55] about the books of the Bible that are supposedly real that didn't make it into the Bible. And like

[00:07:03] two of my, I think so. Two of my coworkers were having a debate about it one day and I kind of

[00:07:09] wanted to blow my brains out, just listening to them. Now I kind of want to learn more about it

[00:07:16] honestly. It's interesting stuff, but you know none of it's real.

[00:07:24] I had heard of Hasbin Hotel because of the internet and TikTok. And a few months ago,

[00:07:31] I want to say early January, maybe December, there is this YouTube called Verbalace.

[00:07:40] YouTuber, not YouTube. There's a YouTuber called Verbalace. He's the dude that does that audio.

[00:07:47] I need to play the audio for you. Okay.

[00:07:51] I think I found the audio so let's see. It's going to sound really shitty because it's on my phone.

[00:07:56] This one. I swear I've never heard that really? Yeah.

[00:08:10] No recollection of ever hearing that. Anyways, he uploads, he's like a beat boxer, right? And

[00:08:17] he's a pretty big beat boxer in YouTube. He made a commission, $50,000 commission. Holy shit.

[00:08:27] Apparently his whole savings, like his whole, all of his money went into this commission

[00:08:34] of an animated video of him being chased and seduced. I think because I haven't watched it by

[00:08:43] Angel. No, by Charlie. Oh dear. I found the video. I found the answer, an unscensored version because

[00:10:19] any like words on what it is. Charlie is the daughter of Lucifer and Lillith. She's the princess

[00:10:29] of hell. Hell is really awful and the angels come down once a year to exterminate as many demons

[00:10:36] as possible. And she has decided to start Hasbin Hotel to help redeem the demons and better

[00:10:45] themselves so that they don't have to live this hellish life anymore. And they can go to heaven.

[00:10:49] And they can hopefully go to heaven. I'm really interested to get more backstory on Allastor

[00:10:56] because everyone keeps implying that he has something to do with going to heaven like or he

[00:11:03] has been in heaven this whole time, he was missing. He's like all the angels don't look anything

[00:11:12] like I expected them to look. No, everybody looks kind of demonish. Yeah.

[00:11:17] Um, Alice or kind of is he kind of like a dear God?

[00:11:22] Seems that way. I like his transformations are pretty cool. Yeah. I like his radio voice.

[00:11:28] Yeah, that's that's pretty cool. It's fun. Um, I guess we're going to continue watching because uh

[00:11:33] we are going to continue watching it's fun. It is very fun. It's stupid. Like it's fucking stupid

[00:11:41] but it's hilarious. It does have a very funny moment. And I just giggle every time they show Keith

[00:11:47] David because I mean, I don't know why I giggle so much because we've seen him in Rick and Morty

[00:11:53] and like, I don't know. I guess it's just because he's like a fucking fox cat thing and he's

[00:11:59] really cranky. Right. I really like the part when he's in the video sim club. Yeah. I like this.

[00:13:03] allister earrings. I was like, why? But then rewatching it, I'm like, I could get how some Christians

[00:13:12] could be really offended about this. Really, really offended. And then I didn't notice that

[00:13:22] and Angel is like a spider until angel. Angel. Angel is like a spider. Yes. Yes. Was it

[00:13:31] allister who called him a spider or pinches? They call them. I love pinches. Sir, pinch is hilarious

[00:13:38] with his little egg boys. I'll clean my quarter. My egg boys. I missed you so please don't

[00:13:47] leave me again. So speaking of offended, I sent something on intro topics that burger champ had sent

[00:13:53] me. He calls it the head. Go into intro topics and describe what you see. This is probably the sex

[00:14:01] toy of the week. It is. It has traumatized most of discord because they keep wanting to look at

[00:14:09] it out of curiosity. And then afterwards, they're like, holy fuck, this is horrific. So they've

[00:14:13] already seen it. A lot of people have, yeah, not everybody. But like the regulars like champ

[00:14:19] thracked will. Oh, why? Oh, this makes me feel like I'm going to throw out my chili.

[00:17:40] This is the second time recording this section. Yes it is. Second time in more than that many

[00:17:47] months. Right? Yes. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. I don't even know where to start. So just go ahead with your

[00:17:55] little idea and we'll see how this winds up. Okay, so let's see a deadly education is a 2020

[00:18:01] fantasy novel written by American author Naomi Novik following I want to hang myself. Galadriel

[00:18:09] L Higgins. Fucking got her last name as Higgins. Half Welsh, half Indian sorceress who must survive

[00:18:18] to graduation while controlling her destructive abilities at a school of magic very loosely

[00:18:23] inspired by the legend of the Skull Oman's. Skull Oman's? It was published by Del Rey, whatever

[00:18:30] nobody cares. Skull Oman's what the fuck is a Skull Oman's have you ever heard that before?

[00:18:36] That's what the school's called. Really? That's all I know. I don't know anything about the legend.

[00:18:43] Okay, so there's a little bit of the Skull Oman's here. The Scrabbing Religion of the Skull Oman's

[00:18:47] which inspired the school in the book Novik stated that it paints a truly horrible pace.

[00:18:53] Place. Spending years locked up in the dark with answers to your lessons, appearing in letters of

[00:19:00] flame with no teachers, no contact with the outside world. It's a horrible idea. She also described

[00:19:07] the school in her book as being similar to a variant on Hogwarts that attempts to take the

[00:19:12] glaring flaws in school safety at Hogwarts a little too serious. Yeah, I mean I kind of thought

[00:19:19] of was reading it. To me, okay so that idea of the Skull Oman's to me, it sounds like there's

[00:19:26] going to be a lot of pregnancies. No. No? No. Because there's no teachers, there's nobody watching

[00:19:32] the kids that the classes are like fire letters in a dark room. There's not enough time. They're too busy

[00:19:38] trying to survive. Really? Seriously? Okay, can you tell me what you remember?

[00:19:48] Okay, one of the most glaring things that I remember is being upset that her name was Galadriel because

[00:19:56] I'm upset that her name is Galadriel Higgins. Yeah. She sounds like she's from Alabama or Tennessee

[00:20:01] or something like that. But she does at least go by L so I often forgot that her name was Galadriel.

[00:20:07] But then like sometime towards the end of the book, she's talking to somebody about the Lord

[00:20:12] of the Rings. And now I don't remember exactly what was said, but I think it was that Lord of the

[00:20:19] Rings when I was mentioned it was the movies not the books. So it was, I think Galadriel said that

[00:20:28] her mom read them to her when she was a kid. And then the other girl was like well I've only seen

[00:20:36] the movies and then they were both like they're not good. I was like how the fuck you going to name

[00:20:41] a character Galadriel and then diss it. But then like the stories are dist again. Like a couple

[00:20:48] lines later, it was something like this is something straight out of a token novel but way more

[00:20:56] creative or something like that is awful. Basically what I remember myself saying last time

[00:21:05] the biggest point was that the book is nothing but world building. Nothing but world building

[00:21:12] and fighting monsters. Literally meat boy, fight monster, re-to-page of a book, fight monster,

[00:21:20] try to take a class, fight monster. Like the whole concept of the school man so stupid, why would

[00:21:26] any rational beings send their kids somewhere where the death rate is like 97% there are no teachers

[00:21:34] like how do you even know they're actually learning anything? Like what if you just have somebody

[00:21:39] who's really good at hiding I don't know. And then like I don't know, I don't know it's so fucking stupid.

[00:21:48] Homegirls trying to get food in the cafeteria and you have to be careful because sometimes stuff

[00:21:54] jumps out of the trays and tries to kill you like she went to the cafeteria and the boy was like no

[00:21:59] don't touch that casserole and sure enough this monster came out of it and they went to sit down

[00:22:04] and some other kid had like gotten stung by the monster and he was like having an attack while

[00:22:11] you sit at the table and then you just die and they just leave him there in the cafeteria.

[00:22:16] Dead from like a monster sting like is it the stingray who killed Steve Irwin? And you just

[00:22:22] think it's a monster because you don't have stingrays in your world I don't know. Oh it's so

[00:22:28] funny like it's literally monster attack. Read a couple paragraphs monster attack read a

[00:22:34] couple paragraphs monster attack and every time a monster attacks we explain what the monster

[00:22:39] is and all of the history behind it and monsters defeated a couple pages monster attack explain

[00:22:47] what the monster is the history of the monster how to defeat it. A couple pages of normalcy monster

[00:22:56] attack explain what the monster is the history of the monster how to defeat it.

[00:23:01] Like I can imagine that that cafeteria scene by by thinking about how the cafeteria used to be

[00:23:07] in high school so it would be like the eating area and then the line would run parallel against

[00:23:13] the wall all the way to the back people get their food come out and go to the seating area but

[00:23:18] where you get the food there was like a brick wall with holes in it with a bunch of holes in it

[00:23:23] so you could like kind of see through. I can picture as like somebody going to get like

[00:23:28] mashed potatoes or gravey or whatever and like a tentacle coming yeah grabbing them by their foot

[00:23:33] and just backing them again. I think it was a tentacle and it's like suckers had touched the dude

[00:23:39] and it killed him because that makes sense. And like people would avoid like the back area

[00:23:45] because of the holes in the wall because they could get maybe gets platter wood blood and they

[00:23:49] couldn't eat their food but like she's just like eating and oh the tentacle monster got somebody

[00:23:54] else and that's the third death today. And like the main character is very unlikable and she keeps

[00:24:01] telling these stories from her past about like how her mom and she and her mom like lived in a

[00:24:05] yurt and one time her mom left her alone in the yard and something yet another monster came to

[00:24:12] attack her randomly in their yurt before she even goes to the school and their yurt neighbors were

[00:24:17] just like oh let it get her because she's really fucking annoying. Just like everybody thinks I'm

[00:24:21] annoying. I don't know why. It's so bad. It's so bad and like people were complaining saying it was

[00:24:32] pretty racist because she'd be like oh she's black so she must have locks unlike what yeah

[00:24:43] and then I'm trying to remember. I feel like she was almost even racist to herself for the half

[00:24:49] Indian thing. I don't remember it's been a long time. This think guy's cared and was giving me every

[00:25:01] time she says it's been a long time. It is a fucking terrible look. This to yourself. From now on

[00:25:10] I will not say anything about schools. Please try not to pick anything about schools that will

[00:25:16] make me say stuff about school. Well on my lengthy to-do list for the day I'm going to sit down

[00:25:22] and write down a realistic TBR now they're probably not going to be really backlog books but

[00:25:27] every backlog we've done I've put something on there that's not really backlog. For me it's just

[00:25:32] going to be stuff that I want to read I don't care how long I've had it and I don't think you do

[00:25:36] either because you just want to hear me talk about a book. Yes I don't care I don't care so

[00:25:40] nobody cares they just want you to pick a book. Watch everybody find this really entertaining be

[00:25:44] like deleted audio file every time. To be honest and this is pretty entertaining and it's

[00:25:53] pretty funny I am so sorry. I felt like shit when I noticed that I deleted it because I was making

[00:26:01] I couldn't install updates on the computer because I had so much podcast shit and I had to make sure

[00:26:06] you use one drive get some one drive. Oh well get something and put all these damn audio files there

[00:26:14] something. We have an external drive fuck I need to find it. I don't know how to do where it is

[00:26:19] anyways. Find it. Yeah I needed to do update so I needed to and once I made sure that all of our

[00:26:27] audio files and completed episodes are retrievable from online then I deleted everything and I didn't

[00:26:34] realize that everything that I deleted included your file. Not it doesn't include all of the games

[00:26:40] and stuff. I did such a good job. You did and you're doing an amazing job right now. I'm very proud

[00:26:45] of you. You're the best wife. So okay so let's do that when you do your next backlog next week

[00:26:57] right. Don't bring any school shit that I will complain about and also make sure it's books

[00:27:04] that you want to read not just shit that you pull off yourself randomly because that's your

[00:27:09] big deal. That's what I do. You're like let's record the backlog and I go in there I pick out five

[00:27:15] random books and I come in here and sit down and then I read their descriptions. I'm like oh

[00:27:21] shit. And somehow it's a patron. Pick up on that and then they just gonna fucking hate this.

[00:27:37] Here's the funny thing like they're like oh I bet Chris would love this game so they all vote for

[00:27:41] the game that they think I would love and you're like oh I bet Karen will hate this book

[00:27:46] for that book and then when you're not on the show they're all like where's Karen did. Oh I

[00:27:51] had when we heard from Karen. Does she spade her life right now? Where's Karen coming back?

[00:27:57] She's probably never coming back because you guys gave her a shitty book to read.

[00:28:07] And then there's Dave oh I like this name and he goes in both for it.

[00:28:20] Anyways okay so the plot. Alice's student in June in her junior year in flashback she reveals

[00:28:29] that her father, father, her father sacrificed himself during graduation so that her mother Gwen

[00:28:36] pregnant could escape. However Gwen and Elle were rejected by her fathers fathers.

[00:28:45] When Elle's great great grandmother a famous seer prophesies that Elle would become a powerful maleficer

[00:28:52] who would destroy enclaves. Gwen refused to believe this would happen and raised Elle to never use

[00:28:59] Malia. What the fuck are these words? The magic that is drawn from unwilling living beings what

[00:29:06] the fuck although Gwen is a powerful healer and would be welcome in almost any enclaves she has

[00:29:14] the client to join one. Elle has therefore resolved to win a place herself while at school.

[00:29:21] Is that accurate? I think so. Okay. It's been a long time.

[00:29:27] Elle struggles with her schoolwork as much of what the school provides for her to learn is black magic

[00:29:34] suitable for violence and destruction. Apparently confirming the prophecy so she's going to a school

[00:29:41] that'll teach her how to kill when she is first seen to kill. Yes to be a maleficer.

[00:29:49] In addition most people seem to instinctively dislike and avoid her and she has difficulty making

[00:29:55] friends. Oh no. She comes to the attention of Orion Lake a boy from the New York Enclave

[00:30:02] New York. So this takes place in New York. There's like a New York Enclave, a London Enclave.

[00:30:08] So this is Harry Potter but shitty? I mean

[00:30:13] all education is shitty. Yeah and it seems like it's like a rip off. I'm trying to be cool but it's not

[00:30:21] so Orion Lake a boy from the New York Enclave was both extremely popular because of his

[00:30:27] proclivity for saving his fellow students from attacks and a new unusual due to his ability to

[00:30:34] take Mana from killing malls. Yeah I think that's the monsters I think. Orion initially

[00:30:44] suspects Elle being of a maleficer who murdered one of their maleficers. Malice by Easter. I listen

[00:30:49] to the audio but that's how they said it. However because of this close observation of her he is

[00:30:54] able to intervene and kill the actual murderer when Elle is attacked and he and Elle develop a somewhat

[00:31:01] antagonistic friendship. They're gonna end up fucking aren't they? I can't remember if they did

[00:35:45] then the fight starts and the way that the fight works is like a beat them up. So instead of like

[00:35:50] taking turns and attacking ones and taking turns and attacking ones, you go and you put your hands

[00:35:56] on these monsters like you beat the fuck out of them as you can hit them as many times as you want.

[00:36:00] Magic them as many times as your magic will let you and basically that's the combat. Malifies them.

[00:36:07] Malifies them. Yes, because they're they deserve it because they're monsters.

[00:36:12] So premise of the story you have two characters that you can play us. You have Claude C. Cannie

[00:36:18] and Renel Anford. If you pick Claude, you start off in a spaceship in space then you go to a planet.

[00:36:26] You accidentally touch something and you get transported to Linus planet.

[00:36:29] If you play as Léon and then basically you start by finding Claude and be forced.

[00:36:35] Oh, lost in shit. And he saves you from a bear by shooting it with a space gun. And then she's like,

[00:36:41] holy shit, he has the sort of light. He's the hero of legend. And he's like, I'm just a space

[00:36:48] person but I can't tell you that I'm a space person because your planet is untrusted and it would ruin

[00:36:53] the balance of planets in the ecosystem or whatever. So basically after they find them and she's like,

[00:37:02] he's the hero. He's the hero when she tells like the order of the village. They're like, oh, there's

[00:37:07] like this thing in the world called the sorcerers globe. I need you guys to go look at it. And then

[00:37:14] the quest is you going to the sorcerers globe to go go look at it. Sources globe turns out that

[00:37:20] it's creating monsters and making monsters violent. So they want you to stop it so that the monster

[00:37:27] attacks stop and whatnot turns out the sorcerers globe was created by the 10 wise men who were trying

[00:37:32] to get back to their planet. I thought they're only three wise men. There's 10. 10. And I have issues

[00:37:41] with them. There's 10 wise men, they want to get back to their planet of energy need. So they want

[00:37:47] to sacrifice a spell by having a clash with energy need. And then you go explore energy need as well.

[00:37:58] That I was playing this game when we went to Hunters birthday. Yes. Remember I spent the entire

[00:38:05] day just playing this game. Yes, while we went hiking and we watched a movie and we colored velvet

[00:38:12] collar sheets and we helped. Well, you helped cook. Yeah, I helped cook. So the entire day,

[00:38:20] that's all I did. I played star ocean. I didn't know how far into the game I got this game one

[00:38:26] playthrough takes you like 20 hours the first time. So I didn't know I got so far into it because I

[00:38:33] got to the part where the planet is destroyed. And I was like holy shit, this is getting so good.

[00:38:38] I wonder what the hell they're going to do next. And then the rest of the game is like, oh train,

[00:38:43] get stronger. Oh go find the thing so you can kill the 10 wise men. Oh, it's over. I was like what?

[00:38:50] So I thought I still had like maybe another 20 hours left in it. No, I had like five. So

[00:38:57] at least yeah. So I beat the game. I started it with right and because the game let's you do a new

[00:39:04] game plus where you're level and your weapons and everything gets transferred over to a brand new

[00:39:08] file, then I could breeze through the game because I didn't have to do any fights. Like I could just

[00:39:13] walk in my characters would do the fights for me. Um, I didn't realize that I missed so many

[00:39:20] characters. Cause I was like 20 hours into the game. And I was like, why do I only have six party

[00:39:27] members where the hell are the other two? And then I looked at there's a bunch of certain

[00:39:31] conditions that you have to meet in order to get those characters to join your party. And a lot

[00:39:37] of them were through these things called private actions, which is basically and this is the stupidest

[00:39:43] fucking shit that I've ever seen on RPG. You have to hit a button and confirm so that your party

[00:39:50] breaks up. And then you can go explore the city and start these private actions. So it's not like

[00:39:56] part of the story. So they're like huge moments like Rayna finds out that Claude is from another planet

[00:40:03] that never gets explored unless you do the private actions. Um, Claude's dad gets killed. You

[00:40:10] never find out any sort of resolvent from Claude unless you do the private actions. And I thought

[00:40:18] that I had missed a lot like the story was really bad the first time through and it's because I

[00:40:23] hadn't done those private actions with Claude. And then I figured out that you can that there's

[00:40:29] a message that pops up that apparently I click through too fast and you can and I did a ton of them

[00:40:35] with Rayna and I got a lot more closure in the story and I was like, oh, that's nice. That's

[00:40:42] better. Um, it's a way better. No, it's just you just got click happy. Yeah, yeah, I got click happy.

[00:40:49] Like there's there's like a lot of character growth that you wouldn't see unless you do them. Like one

[00:40:52] of the characters ends up meeting like the prince of some nation by accident and then they fall in love

[00:41:00] but he's about to get married. So you have to crash the wedding so that he realizes I don't want to

[00:41:04] get married to this lady. Um, there's a bunch of stuff like that for all the characters. Like there's

[00:41:11] a three-eyed alien chick that's looking for her boyfriend who's a three-eyed alien dude but he's

[00:41:17] only interested in ruins and you have to find... Well, he wants to fuck Ruins? No, he wants to

[00:41:22] explore Ruins. So he's a space archaeologist and he goes to other planets to find Ruins and he

[00:41:28] just stands there looks at them and he's like, oh, this is a great fine and goes to try to find another one.

[00:41:33] So he's just like a traveler, size-y or... Basically an archaeologist.

[00:41:38] Like if, um, Harrison Ford would cut through the whole thicket to get to the temple of doom,

[00:41:46] he's like, it's the temple of doom. Snap, snap! And the movie's over. And he doesn't do anything else.

[00:41:55] Oh, Jesus Christ. Anyways, um, so there's a bunch of characters that conflict with each other so you

[00:42:03] can like recruit them for one run but if you want them for the next one you might not be able to

[00:42:08] get the other characters that you want to have in that run. So I kept like my main three Selene

[00:42:14] Reina and Claude which were like a level 160. And you need to be like a level like 120 to beat the

[00:42:25] game. I was like way over level. Oh dear. So all of the other characters were like severely

[00:42:31] under level when they joined the party so all I did was in the last dungeon. I kept running around

[00:42:35] in circles trying to get them all to level up. So my second playthrough was only like 10 hours.

[00:42:41] It was just the story stuff and looking at the private actions. It's fun, it's good. It has

[00:42:53] good writing and the stories are somewhat interesting but I don't like the way it's presented.

[00:43:02] The private actions thing, I completely missed a giant integral part of the story. I missed it

[00:43:08] because I didn't read a message. That's annoying. I also didn't realize that right after that message

[00:43:13] about the private actions you get a message saying oh you can fast travel this is how you do it.

[00:43:17] I didn't know I could do that so I walked everywhere in the first time

[00:43:23] in my first playthrough because I didn't catch that message. So that really bad

[00:43:29] bad game decided. They want you to learn how to read right and then the ending of the games there's

[00:43:39] 99 different endings. What? Why? But the 99 different endings are like if you meet certain

[00:43:46] conditions where you're playing then you get one of those endings for each one of the characters.

[00:43:51] So if you don't have some characters in your party you're not going to get the endings for them

[00:43:55] or the ending for them because you only get one ending depending on how it's going. So

[00:44:02] I never managed to get the ending where Claude and Reina end up together because throughout

[00:44:06] the entire story they're crazy about each other but because their kids they don't want to say oh

[00:44:14] I love what Reina now but like everybody's like Claude's in love with you and Reina's like what

[00:44:18] I'm only 17, I can be in love. Only 17. And then Claude is and then somebody's like Claude you

[00:44:24] really need to be better with Reina. He's like but I'm only 19, I can't be better with Reina. I'm a kid

[00:44:34] like I looked up like all of the endings for like the characters that I cared about and like

[00:44:42] depending on your relationship with some of the characters like he Claude completely forgets

[00:44:46] about Reina and goes off and marry somebody else and gets them pregnant.

[00:44:50] So like what the hell? What this makes no sense like that the endings are awful.

[00:44:56] One of the endings is Claude becomes like an exterminator and just kills monsters for the rest

[00:45:00] of his life in the minute. What a pleasant existence. And the combat at first it annoyed

[00:45:07] the fuck out of me like I hated the combat because you press a button it entails of it's called

[00:45:15] easy automatic. So you press a button your character runs to the enemy and starts the combo

[00:45:21] and then the that's not the AI. The way that it's coded decides on the monster's positioning

[00:45:30] what's the next best attack to use. So if it's a flying enemy it'll try to keep doing like upwards

[00:45:37] attacks so that it can knock it out of the sky. And when it's on the ground it'll just do like normal

[00:45:43] attacks just over and over again. You can't combine them to form your own combos like you can

[00:45:48] in the Tales of Games which I think it's a very not great system. The easy automatic system

[00:45:56] I'm not a fan so whenever I get the item or the option to change it back to manual on the Tales

[00:46:00] of Games I do it immediately because when you knock down an enemy from the sky if you're caught

[00:46:05] mid combo after they fall down you just keep doing the attack to knock them out of the sky instead

[00:46:11] of going into a normal ground combo. And that really annoy me eventually I got the hang of it

[00:46:18] I just did not pay attention to the thing I just kept spamming the special abilities because you

[00:46:23] can do special abilities and then link them so that's pretty fun part of the combat system.

[00:46:30] And at first my party members were just getting slaughtered every time they would a fight would start

[00:46:36] and it turns out you have to go into the tactics menu and tell your party members oh I need you

[00:46:42] to heal nonstop I need you to attack nonstop I need you to conserve mana nonstop I need you to

[00:46:49] protect your party members nonstop otherwise my characters were just dying left and right I'm like

[00:46:56] holy shit I don't have enough reviving items my characters just keep dying. I'm actually

[00:47:03] going to figure that out and I wish the game would have done a better job of explaining hey

[00:47:08] this can help like pay attention to this shit and check the menus no no figure it out yourself

[00:47:15] figure it out yourself bitch go fuck yourself right like get to the end of the game and then be

[00:47:18] really pissed right and then I also didn't know that the characters will do the skills that you set

[00:47:27] up for them so I had one character that just kept doing poison pellet poison pellet poison

[00:47:34] pellet poison pellet just keeps throwing poison pellets and I see that every couple of levels he

[00:47:38] would get any ability when the focus in this character using the new ability I had to go into his

[00:47:43] settings and changed out the abilities for the new ones that I wanted him to do so eventually

[00:47:49] I changed poison pellet for firefellet then his other attack for like tornado fist and then every

[00:47:55] two fifty would you call like this like start punching really fast in a tornado with form oh my gosh

[00:48:00] I can't yeah so I had to do that with all the characters so I could whatever and then

[00:48:09] depending on their settings right on the way that you set up the way that they attack

[00:48:14] they will decide on their own if they want to use a separate attack so like for reina I had her

[00:48:19] like heal whatever characters need it so she would do like attacks and then out of nowhere she would

[00:48:25] just heal everybody or you know take away their status or revive um

[00:48:31] so it's I like the game because it looks beautiful I like the story I like the characters

[00:48:39] holy shit it needs a lot of work like it needs tweaking like fucking crazy

[00:48:43] because that's something they don't tell you it's like figure it out and how the fuck are you gonna think oh

[00:48:51] if I put all attacks and then select for her to heal then she'll do the attacks and also heal

[00:48:56] I got a fucking thing that you're gonna think that because they have a whole list of abilities

[00:49:00] they're gonna decide when to use the odd ability like in the tale stuff games

[00:49:04] um

[00:49:06] but I really enjoyed the first playthrough I enjoyed getting the extra story from the second one

[00:49:13] um but I don't think the second playthrough was worth it I think total I put in like 50 hours into

[00:49:18] the game um I think I gave it a nine let me look uh

[00:49:29] nine out of ten damn that's pretty high okay so it's one of those 2dhd games where the characters are

[00:49:38] sprites but then the world is kind of like um all completely 3d rendered so it looks really nice

[00:49:47] and it has like a really nice lighting engine um like octopath and live alive and whatever

[00:49:54] so it looks incredible it looks really good in a dust this this thing where some scenes you will have

[00:50:01] like swooping camera angles where you would be running towards the horizon and the camera would

[00:50:07] like swoop down to chase you into the horizon so it does like really cool shit like that

[00:50:15] so okay um what I wrote I really like the characters I like the setting I like the premise

[00:50:22] I don't like how rushed and swept under the rug a lot of the things field because uh I didn't know

[00:50:26] about the private actions uh like there's never any big confrontation about cloud cloud being from

[00:50:32] another planet uh the combat system is what's called semi-automatic and the tales of games very

[00:50:38] handholdy but not to the point where you don't do anything I wish there would have been a full manual

[00:50:43] mode for it no so I could do my own attacks um edit I fucked up on my first playthrough and then

[00:50:49] realized the private actions were a thing that's how you recruit a ton of characters and how you world

[00:50:54] build and character connections are presented I think they're cute but holy shit way to make it easy to

[00:50:59] miss to me edit too uh second playthrough isn't really worth it all you see are different endings if

[00:51:06] you're able to unlock them which I had no idea how to do and the story beats stay the same with

[00:51:12] slight changes in the conversation still it's a great game and worth the playthrough um very nice

[00:51:18] yep so I mean I enjoyed it it's it's $50 game um it's worth it uh

[00:51:28] yeah uh that's uh star ocean the second story are

[00:51:34] I'm interested in playing the rest of them well first departure and whatever for being a game

[00:51:41] called star ocean there was really not a lot of star space travel not a lot of stars in the ocean

[00:51:49] very deceptive the private actions were somewhat stupid because sometimes while I was playing

[00:51:53] as rain I would see Claude and you would go talk to Claude and Rainer's like what do you do he's

[00:51:58] like oh nothing just looking at the stars and then you would go to another town and you would

[00:52:03] talk to him again and Rainer's like you're looking at the stars again and he's like yeah just looking

[00:52:07] at the stars oh my god I can't um but yeah um hopefully the next ones have more space travel

[00:52:16] because I feel the seat the the seventh the you feel deceived deceived deceived

[00:52:25] about the lack of space travel and star oceans I thought Rainer would have a big moment in a

[00:52:31] space should be like we're going to another planet but no it never happened so yeah nine out of 10

[00:59:47] insane as soon as I saw those mashed potatoes I was like does it like my mimos mashed potatoes

[00:59:54] and gravy and I took a bite and I was instantly taken back to some shaggy mustard carpet
