Nintendo's pink puff has, at the time of writing, 39 games under his belt. While I haven't played every single game in the series, I have played quite a few of them and I've enjoyed each one quite a bit. But there are three games in the series that I hold in very high regard and are my personal favorites.
Let's check them out!
#3: Kirby's Dream Land 3
This game was released late in the SNES's lifespan, and it shows. First off, the art style is GORGEOUS. Everything looks almost hand-drawn and uses a pastel color palette that's very easy on the eyes. The sprites are very animated and totally adorable.
The game can be played co-op; with one player controlling Kirby, and the other controlling Gooey. Not only that, but Kirby's animal friends return from Dream Land 2, with a few new additions to the roster.
If you haven't played this one, you definitely need to.
#2: Kirby: Planet Robobot
This game was my #1 Kirby game for the LONGEST time. This game has so much going for it and it definitely needs a re-release on Switch.
As a late 3DS release, the visuals are some of the best on the system. Everything is so incredibly detailed, so colorful, and there is so much attention to detail to every part of the background, the foreground, and every single little thing that you see on-screen.
On top of Kirby's usual Copy Abilities, he can also pilot the Robobot Armor which can scan enemies and copy their abilities. The game also has one of the best final boss battles in any video game. Kirby goes full Gurren Lagann and it's completely insane.
#1: Kirby and the Forgotten Land
This game is PERFECT. Man, where do I begin? I guess with the fact that it's the first fully 3D Kirby game! Levels are fairly open and the game greatly rewards you for exploring with coins that you'll need to upgrade your Copy Abilities. Oh yeah, you can upgrade and evolve your abilities in the hub town! Each power starts as the base fire, ice, sword, etc, and evolves into something really cool and really fun.
Another new addition is Mouthful Mode. Every so often you'll come across something like a car, a traffic cone, a arch, or some other object that Kirby can inhale and gives you another cool ability. The car drives fast, the cone can slam into the ground and smash crumbling objects, and so much more.
This game was so much fun through-and-though. I can't recall ever feeling frustrated at any levels or boss fights. This game is 10/10.
And that's my top 3 Kirby games! I want to play quite a few more and see if any others crack the top 3. They've got some pretty hefty expectations to live up to.
Okay bye!
