[00:00:13] Hello and welcome back to Video Games Analyzed. This is the one and only podcast dedicated to analyzing and reviewing video games. Classic video games. Some might call them retro, but it depends on when they came out to designate whether they're classic or retro.

[00:00:34] And I'm your host, Tommy. This is my show that I came up with to discuss the art form of video games. And every week I'll have a guest on the show. And this week my guest is Aaron. Hey Aaron. Oh, sorry. I didn't know we were starting. Hi. Thanks so much, Tommy. It's great to be here again. This is a good game we're going to talk about.

[00:00:59] Yes. Don't. No spoilers. We'll get to it when we get to it. And that time that we'll get to it is right now. Today we're talking about Tetris.

[00:01:10] And that is the video game with falling blocks. The creator is Alexey Pajitanov. And we played the game on the Nintendo Entertainment System.

[00:01:35] And it's it holds up. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Hold on. I'm not done. I'm not done. Okay. It holds up really well. And this it's got the controls that you would expect left, right. And then you can spin the blocks and you make the lines. And it's kind of the timeless, the video game, the timeless video game that all other video games can look back into the past and say that this is where video games truly began is with Tetris.

[00:02:01] And I'm really curious your thoughts on the game as well, Aaron. Well, Nintendo Entertainment. I played this on my Switch. And you play with other people like the like the classic the subscription thing, the Nintendo classics. Well, I didn't think it was on that. No, no, not that not that it. I can't think of the name, but it's the one where you play against other people.

[00:02:31] And there's there's 99 people. And you know you send blocks over to other people's tables or boards or whatever. I don't think that's I don't think that's I don't know what you're did. You can only plug in like two controllers to a Nintendo Entertainment System. Well, you said Switch. Yeah, Nintendo Switch. Oh, that's. Why? Why? Why? Why'd you?

[00:03:01] Well, you didn't you didn't play it on the Nintendo Entertainment System. All you said was was Tetris. I mean, yeah, technically, I played Tetris. It's still I would say technically you didn't. I didn't I didn't think I needed to specify. Listen, when you sent the letter in the mail and and and all you said was Tetris. Like, yeah, because that's the name of the game. But what else? What else would I have needed to say?

[00:03:29] But there's there's a million games named Tetris. There's there's so many games named. OK, so regardless, I pretty much played the same game. It's still falling blocks and you arrange them and there's like L shapes. There's the blocks. There's just the the line shaped ones. You can mix them and match them. They're colorful. The music is good. It's a classic. You can't beat man. Old school arcade class.

[00:03:56] Well, NES Nintendo Switch classic. You know, it's I had a good time with the Nintendo Entertainment System. We don't we don't shorten Nintendo Switch. Tommy, that's you're thinking of the wrong thing. You said NES. What? You said NES. Well, I'm at Nintendo Switch. I know that's fine. But just for future reference, it's Nintendo Entertainment System.

[00:04:23] Well, all right, Tommy, what was your favorite block shape? Which one is your favorite? I don't know the Z. Z. Oh, OK. It's the not the S, the other one. I'm a big fan of the L shape one. You can you can get that in some pretty tight spaces. It's pretty cool. Yeah, I. I'm. I'm upset, but I agree with you. That that one is very useful. You can also make two lines or three lines with it or even one line if you just put the

[00:04:53] little nub somewhere. Yeah. And but that's that's basically Tetris. I enjoyed it. I'm going to give it my my inaugural five star review, five star score. Excuse me. And I'll even add on a little Z shape block at the end. Beautiful. OK, I'm going to give it. Well, you're again. I didn't know what version to play because all you said is Tetris.

[00:05:22] You can't really score it if you didn't play it. No, I'm going to give it four. Four. I'm going to give it four stars. And then I'm also going to give it a couple of just just of those square blocks. A couple of those. Yeah. Can't review a game that you didn't. You can't score a game that you didn't play. But I played the game time. I played a Tetris. I'm not. I'm not going through this again. I am already on a scale of one to five.

[00:05:50] I'm at four stars for anger right now and a Z shaped block at the end of it. So we'll just we'll just call it. Thank you again, Aaron. Thank you. Thank you again, Aaron, for for being on the show. And we'll see you next week. Keep on gaming.
