2024 Predictions

[00:00:00] Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to another episode of the Pre-Order Bonus podcast. It's January 11th, 2024. It's a new year. We are back to talk about video games. It's me, Cameron Warren, and I'm joined once again by Jacob Price.

[00:00:31] I'm back. Finally invited back on the show after so long. No. Although we did take... It's been a long time since we've done a show, it feels like. We took a pretty good break and part of that was folks, 2023 was a year that kind of ran

[00:00:48] us ragged, I think. So many incredible games coming out, so many things that we wanted to cover and video games are tough. I think about this, Cameron, I don't know if you

[00:00:57] think about this. I think about this quite a lot, where if we were doing a podcast on any other artistic medium except maybe books, it would be infinitely easier. Imagine doing an album, like a music album a month. You're listening to something that is 30 to 60 minutes

[00:01:16] long and you listen to it a few times a week, you prep your notes, you have your episode on it. Meanwhile, Cameron and I, for whatever reason, we enjoy video gaming as a hobby

[00:01:26] and video games don't take 30 to 60 minutes to complete. They take much more time than that. So 2023 was a killer year, we gave ourselves a bit of an extended break but I'm feeling rejuvenated, I'm feeling ready to come back.

[00:01:43] Yeah, I think last week I could have come back but you do that thing where you're like, okay, when you feel ready, give it even a little bit more time. So now I'm ready to go. Super. We're raring to go.

[00:01:56] So much video games. Yeah, 2023. Yeah, I definitely think 2023 is going to go down as one of the best years in gaming for sure. Just so many incredible games, so many incredible conversations. But boy, oh boy, we're already into 2024 and it's

[00:02:13] begun. It is off to the races immediately. They wasted no time, Jake. No time. Oh my gosh, no they did not. Let's see, let's break down a little bit of this new. I feel like we've had so

[00:02:28] much news that I feel like we need to discuss a little bit of this. Okay, so a few things. Number one, we're getting a developer direct from Xbox next week, Thursday and guess what's going to be there out of the blue? Indiana Jones. What the heck?

[00:02:45] Dude, there is a lot of speculation that that game is further along than any of us think. There's a strong rumor right now that it's coming this year, which is crazy. I don't think so. I'm going to, I don't buy into that rumor. You don't

[00:03:04] buy into the rumor? No, I do think it'll come 2025 though now. I'm thinking, okay, it's a lot closer than we think. Okay, let me feed you this though. So remember they did this January thing last year and that's where they

[00:03:15] shadow dropped Hi-Fi Rush. All the games shown and announced that thing came out in 2024, so just saying or came out in that year. So I don't know. I'm just, I don't know. I mean maybe, I feel like maybe. If you're hearing silence.

[00:03:33] It's been a while since the last machine games game. That's all I'm saying. Listen, it has been a while. We talked about this a little bit in our discord with our community. This was announced three years ago and the

[00:03:45] general impression, but we don't really know is that was pre-production. The game had entered production when that was announced. So did they get this game out in three years? I don't know. We talked about the Indiana Jones

[00:03:56] game and machine games as sort of one of these perfect pairings of like a classic IP and in a really strong studio that very much can create something with that IP. The other one that people are talking about is,

[00:04:09] you know, the Hitman studio making the 007 game. And so part of me is like, okay, three years, three and a half years of production. Okay, maybe. You know, maybe if the star is aligned, it worked out. But no, I just

[00:04:26] think that a game of that caliber with that kind of IP and if you've got Lucasfilm involved, it's going to take a little bit. Are we sure that it was in pre-production when they talked about it? Because I feel

[00:04:37] like I read something else that said that they had actually been working on it like through COVID and it got pushed around because of COVID delays. That is an assumption. So just to be clear, the assumption was that that was pre-production. Now maybe it was pre-production. To fuel

[00:04:55] this 2024 rumor, oh sorry. No, no, sorry. That was my thought. That's it. To fuel this 2024 rumor a little bit, I have heard that it's possible that what actually happened is that this was in production like starting like right just right before COVID kind of

[00:05:14] muddled during COVID got delayed because of that was supposed to come out sooner. Then they talked about it. And then I'll also add my own insight to this, which is like all of the Starfield marketing, that all got pushed around because you know, they

[00:05:30] had the huge trailer with like set in stone release date and obviously it didn't make that release date. So but as the marketing, I feel like I could have got majorly pushed around. So I don't know this could be one of those games where it's like

[00:05:43] with Xbox, all I says the dominoes starting to fall and this could just be one of those dominoes that's like sitting that could hit you know late in the year. I feel like it's possible. I'm gonna like I'm gonna hope on this one. Usually

[00:05:55] I'd be pessimistic and say 2027. But I'm gonna have hope on this one. I'm glad someone is having I guess a lot of people are having hope that this will come out this year and precisely what for the reasons that you're stating principally the rumors

[00:06:09] have been flying around because it's included in the developer direct next week alongside what about Hellblade two and something. I mean, either way, we better get a release date for help way to please help. Hellblade two I'm just like, I'm done seeing that game. I just

[00:06:29] want to play it now. Yeah, I'm ready. You know, I'm with you there. About I don't I don't feel like we've seen quite as much out of so I would love to see like a deeper gameplay something to get me like really excited for that. Honestly, the marketing

[00:06:44] for that has not done much for me up to this point like I love obsidian and love the fact they're making like a, you know, third first person RPG or whatever but like show me something that's going to get me really excited. That's what I want.

[00:06:59] But yeah, man, like what a way to start the year. Incredible like super fun event. Just see what Xbox is going to do hopefully this year. Hopefully this is it. Hopefully, hopefully any other big news that you wanted to discuss?

[00:07:14] I mean, we already have the reviews have dropped for the Prince of Persia. What's that game called? The Lost Crown. Lost Crown looks to be critically claimed. I mean, high 80s Metacritic which is pretty nuts. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, this one

[00:07:35] looked really, really cool but with the praise it's getting I feel like it's gonna have to go on my list now. Yeah, and that comes out next week comes out next week and what's wild with the previews that have dropped or the early

[00:07:46] reviews I should say is that people are saying that it's either on par or better than Metroid Dread, which I loved that game. That to me is one of the best metrivania in recent memory and to say that it's on par with Metroid Dread. Yeah,

[00:08:03] I don't know might have to pick it up. I'm hearing like hyperbolic praise of this game. So yeah, I mean, I'm definitely gonna have to check it out and I have some predictions around Ubisoft. Oh, more to come on

[00:08:18] that. The other piece of news that is a little bit wild, a little bit speculative but do you remember Game Shark? Jake? You mean like that made Game Shark the cheat codes that you would sell for your consoles? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So that

[00:08:37] company is coming back and is rebranding to the worst name you could ever imagine AI shark. Yeah, cool. And but here's the kicker with that announcement was that we what they said in their press release we plan to announce alongside the

[00:09:00] switch to in September of 2020 2024. Come on. There's no way who would be so brazen. They're speculating that maybe they blew it like they blew the release date. Dude, you've we've seen the meme surrounding Nintendo's legal team. I just don't think a company would be so brazen as to

[00:09:24] make that kind of announcement in front of Nintendo. Do you think it's possible? No, actually knowledge. I should because because Nintendo lawyers would have reached out to them and said like, Hey, you just broke in DA and then they would have removed it right like immediately. I

[00:09:41] would imagine so. Nintendo, Nintendo lawyers don't sleep, right? They they're no, they just monitor the internet all day. Yeah, I'm pretty sure Nintendo lawyers have a contract with the NSA or something like they know if they get a whiff of

[00:09:56] something, they're on you. Yeah, Nintendo lawyers are just you know, monitoring the internet constantly. So I feel like they would have taken it down. So my theory is that they don't know the release date. They're totally doing

[00:10:09] it. So I think Nintendo is just to like get views and it worked right like new company rebrand. Let's get as many eyeballs on us as we can. I believe that. Yeah. Yeah, totally. So anyway, so we have that so switch to already in the hub

[00:10:24] up and Jake, I feel like there was one other big piece of gaming news that we were discussing but I'm trying to remember it. I feel like you texted me about it. Is that right? That sounds about right. We don't need to spend too

[00:10:35] much time on this but we need to acknowledge that they're off, right? Which is oh yes, which is just awful and depressing. And if we could stop doing that, that would be amazing. Yeah, Discord laid off 170 people, Twitch already

[00:10:50] laid off a third of their staff. Yeah, and unity laid off like about 1800 people. So that's cool. You know, that's now the other news that you and I were talking about was suicide squad previews. Yes, yes, they were really bad.

[00:11:06] IGN is the one their preview was the one that's circulating because they did not like it. I it's kind of funny. I don't know why this happened but simultaneously, I've been seeing a whole lot of forespoken clips come up and forespoken is beginning. It's like redemption arc

[00:11:24] from the vitriol it received from the internet and it just happens to coincide with these bad suicide squad previews and I've seen some people shed a little more light on those previews and say, you know what, this actually isn't quite as bad as you know, as like the

[00:11:42] internet is the internet has taken hold of one opinion and kind of ran with it right. So while the previews are negative and my interest really hasn't changed too much in suicide squad a part of me is like, you know what though? There's there's you

[00:11:58] know what we need to just wait. I think we need to wait a little bit more before people are writing it off completely. So I'm feeling I'm feeling a little I don't know what's the word optimistic maybe generous

[00:12:09] maybe I'm just a little more calm than I don't want to give it a knee jerk reaction but yeah previews were negative and that really bites for a game that's been in development for as long as it has. I have

[00:12:21] some predictions around this game so I'm going to save my comments about suicide squad. Well Jake, video games are in full swing. We've already got we're going to talk about this at the end of the show. We'll talk about kind of our most

[00:12:36] anticipated somewhat quickly but I mean we already have releases like coming you know hot off the press. You know we have Prince of Persia just around the corner infinite wealth right after that. The Yakuza or Leica Dragon rebirth you know end of February suicide squad. Anyway it's

[00:12:57] already this year is already insane and it's January 11th. Yep it's a busy year already. Before we dive into what's going to happen this year we first this is the episode that we do every year and we're repeating it this year. This is our

[00:13:12] 2024 predictions episode and so to start this episode what we always do is we got to go back at our 2023 predictions see what we predicted and if we were anywhere close to what was going to happen. Oh my gosh. Taking a brief look at these predictions it looks like

[00:13:33] that we have no idea what we're doing. We have no idea what we're doing. I got a fat goose egg. If you're being generous I got like one fourth of a prediction correct. Let's just go through these though let's go through we'll just quickly do

[00:13:48] these because these are fun I like these okay. We'll start with Jake. Jake number one Cuphead 2 we'll get announced and we'll include a local multiplayer brawl mode man this is a ballsy prediction. Studio MDHR hire me as your ideas man.

[00:14:10] I mean let me just tell you this one million percent didn't happen and probably won't even happen this year no but I love it man I just that's great. I remember I wanted to start off with a bang and was something that I deeply wanted to happen

[00:14:25] and you know what my will did not come into existence it was not destined it was not meant to be. Jake put it into the universe and the universe failed him but that's okay. The universe is like yeah you know how how long that would take to make

[00:14:38] it's not gonna happen man. Let's see number two we will get a launch window for the last city from Oddtail Studios. I you know what that game's never coming out I'm just decided right now that

[00:14:55] just to remind our listeners this is the one that like looks a lot like replaced right with like really fancy yes and it was I think announced maybe two or three years before replaced. Right. It's never coming out so this game's dead you know the director the creative

[00:15:11] director of this game of Oddtail Studios is very active on Twitter and insistent that the game is not dead so I don't know if this game comes out it'll be sometime in the 2030s. All right that's another goose egg for Jake. Jake Spiderman 2 wins game of the

[00:15:30] year that definitely didn't happen. Zelda performance is bad that no didn't happen I've I don't think bad can be used but I do think even though it was like praised critically when it came out for like not having performance issues I do feel like it did have some

[00:15:52] performance hits I wouldn't say performance was bad though unfortunately folks this is Cameron being very generous with this prediction so the context of this prediction was that tears of the kingdom would be critically acclaimed but that reviews typically cross the board would say but it is

[00:16:09] greatly held back by poor performance guess what that's not the case at all yeah this game is a magicianry of software engineering uh let's see next up ghost of Tsushima 2 is announced for a 2024 release if only

[00:16:27] Jake if only this is maybe the prediction that I would like to happen would have liked to happen the very very most and it did not this year though I feel like it's got to happen right I mean all my predictions have been pretty

[00:16:38] bad up until this point except this one like come on the game awards really didn't snag the ghost of Tsushima 2 announcement trailer even a title card with music yeah would have been enough right I feel like

[00:16:54] I feel like we're so close to this that this prediction wasn't so far off so this game came out in 2021 ghost of Tsushima 1 came out in 2021 we're in 2024 so I feel like it has to be announced this year for next year

[00:17:12] but that being said sucker punch are wizards yes are absolute wizards so I could totally see them dropping something that I could actually see it because they're just that good like could this be PlayStation Studios first party fall game this year I think so

[00:17:29] I think it actually that sounds insane but I think it actually could it could I really do I think so too next up see if stars is a game awards indie darling and gets four at least four nominations did it get any

[00:17:43] noms and two wins but it did not get four this is probably my closest prediction to being correct follow up to mario autosie has announced an early 2023 for a late 2023 oh man that was a

[00:18:00] bold prediction there Jake what what was I basing that off of I was basing that off of some first party nintendo game that I mean it's been a while I mean it's 2017 right yeah since Mario Odyssey yeah

[00:18:16] uh if only but you know what I feel like a lot of these you should just make them again and then I think you might get it for this year this seems to be the case with a lot of our predictions we're like a year or

[00:18:26] two or two early every year I'll just go through the same predictions until they all come true that's actually that's what we should do episode over thanks guys um ever while it gets re-announcement again this I think could happen this year

[00:18:41] uh starfield gets tons of nominations at the game awards but wins very few this is this like not give very many noms did it get any it didn't get very many noms and it didn't get any wins if I remember correctly it's only been like a month but

[00:18:58] yeah this got pretty much no attention to the game awards which you know and then finally Dark Souls fans will be frustrated by armored core six I mean I feel like if you go deep enough on reddit this one's

[00:19:11] definitely true right this is another quarter of a point that if you're being generous I won I do feel like by and large dark souls fans were eating pretty well with lies of pee so they didn't have enough time to be

[00:19:21] frustrated with armored core six that's the most true thing you've ever said if you give gamers too much time on their hands they're gonna find a way to hurt you you know that's the truest thing you've ever said Cameron and I drop in truth bombs on the

[00:19:39] weekly here at the pre-order bonus is this the gaming philosophies episode or is this a predictions episode and maybe it's both predictions are truths right so there's something in there all right dude if you're being generous I got

[00:19:52] three fourths of a point with these predictions if you're being generous okay we'll give it to you three fourths of a point Jake three four seven point I feel like last year you got like

[00:20:01] two points and I got like one and a half so we're pretty bad at these predictions but they're fun they're just fun it's so fun it's what it's about fun to dream big absolutely okay Cameron let's hear your here are mine

[00:20:15] Elden Ring media adaptation is announced will be anime style tv show hosted on streaming service of whichever yeah yeah this definitely did not happen we've heard pretty much nothing about Elden Ring throughout 2020 we heard we didn't even get a

[00:20:33] trailer for shout-out of the air tree which is crazy right I think we just got like a title card in name right that's it dude when is this game coming out are you predicting that maybe we'll wait and see I am not because I didn't have the guts

[00:20:52] yeah I don't either I feel like I have no idea when shout-out of the air tree coming I feel like probably it's gone way beyond their original scope and it's now basically like Elden Ring 1.5 yeah anyways okay next up spider-man 2 wins game of the year

[00:21:09] Zelda does not Zelda has bad performance issues I'm an idiot of course tears of the kingdom will be Majora's the majority I use this phrase coin this phrase the Majora's maskification of breath of the wild much darker with traditional Zelda dungeons this I can't really really I was

[00:21:31] I'll give you a point for that one really it's not it's not weird like Majora's mask but I think the rest of the details were in there right we get more traditional dungeons it is definitely darker literally with the depths

[00:21:51] yes that's true okay well I would give myself half a point I think because I use the specific language of Majora it's I don't think it was weird enough to pause it Majora's maskification right

[00:22:02] yeah the rest of the description is there but yeah I wouldn't I wouldn't say it's weird enough overall yeah okay next up Mario movie scores 85 percent on round tomatoes and 95 percent audience score I did not get this it is a what is it 75 percent I think

[00:22:21] okay on round tomatoes and then the audience score is actually a 95 isn't really holy cow yeah but I think let me double check Mario movie regardless I would say that's half a point oh yeah so it's so I was right on the audience score

[00:22:40] but I got a 60 percent it's not even certified for us okay that hurts half a point yeah half a point I'll take it so total already in the lead one point to three quarters of a point

[00:22:52] okay so here is my legitimate and I've already patted myself on the back for this many times but looking back at over a year ago to making this prediction just how incredibly right I was before anyone else in the industry anyone else in the gaming industry

[00:23:11] literally go back and listen to this episode bouldersgate 3 is sleeper monster hit of the year and wins rpg at the game wars I even undersold it yeah I mean you get the full point obviously so folks if you're listening

[00:23:28] one out of what 15 of our predictions is going to be the best most spot-on thing you've ever heard this is the most everybody in the gaming industry had no clue about this game no clue except for maybe uh like triple click pod jason schryer because they're big

[00:23:51] larian fans so they knew but they weren't saying like oh this is going to be like huge I was saying I thought this was going to be this is my best prediction I've ever made by far 100 came true

[00:24:02] on top of winning game of the year so I didn't even go far enough but but it did win rpg we're letting cameron sit on his bouldersgate throne for a bit here I'll never make a prediction like that again I don't think the stars will not align

[00:24:17] uh next up game pass increases to 20 bucks a month is this what happened it increased by what from 15 to 17 okay so I was I didn't quite hit 20 okay yeah microsoft announces xbox dedicated streaming device that definitely didn't happen

[00:24:36] hellblade 2's xbox's fall game and comes out in november it's still have no idea when this is coming out probably find out next week hope fingers crossed knock on wood and then my weird prediction if starfield comes out in the first half of 2023

[00:24:49] it did not someone has skyrim modded into it by the end of the year they did not they did not but that's coming you know that someone's making a skyrim planet right now that was uh one of my

[00:25:02] favorite predictions of yours because I was like that modding team is gonna be busy oh man that was fun yeah there's definitely going to be although I recently just saw an article saying like the modding community is going ham but they feel like the tools are not

[00:25:21] quite there yet so I starfield is we may need to have like a follow-up I don't know many episodes on starfield because what an interesting game what a what an interesting game a game that has sold extremely well

[00:25:39] that like is being played continually with huge player numbers tons of time played but it's getting absolutely maligned in terms of like reviews and and feedback and sentiments but it's just being played the crap out

[00:25:54] of this game's gonna have like such long legs but it's just a weird phenomena you know it is wild to me how the the reaction to starfield is deteriorated so incredibly like fast it's only been four or five months since starfield came out

[00:26:14] and I don't know people were way more optimistic and kind towards it on launch and now people are not it's I don't know it's so strange I keep wanting to make comparisons to halo infinite because when halo infinite launched with the state of multiplayer and with the

[00:26:31] campaign it got incredibly high praise and we're all gaslighting ourselves by saying that halo infinite has always been a bad game that simply isn't true and that's simply not how we felt at launch now of course halo has an added

[00:26:45] component of being a live service game and they didn't stick the live service six months out you know after the game had launched now it's an incredible spot and people are really enjoying it again but the thing is is that starfield is really not a live service game

[00:26:59] um it's gonna like it has a modding community but that is not the same as a live service game and so it's just so bonkers to me to kind of see how the audience reception is just morphed so drastically in the last few months

[00:27:13] it's a really strange phenomenon um and I don't know if it's just internet opinions get into people or what it is exactly but to me it feels awfully strange I think I have a message for people out there uh-oh the gamers on

[00:27:30] the internet okay if you play a game for north of 300 hours and you give it a thumbs down on steam you should have your account walked dude I support this if you were playing a game for hundreds of hours and you

[00:27:47] said that it's bad and you don't like it there's a disconnect there something's not firing there's there's yes there's some part of your brain that you need to like seriously get checked out if you can sit down in front of

[00:28:02] your computer screen in front of your tv and play a game for 300 hours and say to yourself I do not like this game it is bad that is there's an issue something doesn't add up something doesn't and you're not just leaving starfield on

[00:28:20] in the background day in day out you know something is going I totally agree it's it's seeing those reviews always or it's like I've been playing this game for 60 hours it cost me five dollars in early access

[00:28:35] I don't recommend it even though it's a ton of fun because the game isn't complete yet and I'm like dude if you spent 60 hours and five bucks on a game why are you giving it a negative review dude I that's that is there needs to be

[00:28:54] like studies done there needs to be studies done on this like legitimate I want to understand the psychology of it yeah we're the psych majors who are looking or in sociology majors looking for a phd dissertation topic that's it steam reviews why do people do it if that's

[00:29:10] if that's one of you listening to this then I encourage you to reach out just let us know what are we missing yeah we missing something maybe there's something obvious and we're just being super prejudiced and if that's a case

[00:29:21] please let us know well with that jake that it that was our 2023 prediction 2024 so I got two points two two points two points you got a fat quarter point so I win crap and that means that you have to play a game of my choosing is that

[00:29:42] right and we got to get we have to go to lunch and pay for ourselves yeah well what's the game do you have an idea for the game have you been thinking about this um there's a game I keep asking

[00:29:56] you to play oh no and I'm trying to remember what game have I not played yet what have I been messaging you about that you need to play I can't remember off the top

[00:30:08] my head I'll have to message you after this there's a few I feel like I started playing a few games that you've been oh I know um Wolfenstein one okay guess what everybody with the rumors that machine games is uh

[00:30:24] Indiana Jones is coming out I actually downloaded thank you game pass for this I downloaded both I downloaded Wolfenstein the new order and Wolfenstein the new colossus so um I will I will fill my end of the deal there and Jake guess what they're

[00:30:40] they're short and they're fun yes this is why I want to hear the perfect combination we'll just call that you got to play the Wolfenstein games I think that's perfectly in sync like you just mentioned with potentially getting machine games next title this year and

[00:30:54] it's a freaking Indiana Jones all right is it first person or third person predict oh dude oh shoot Wolfenstein is typically what first person sorry folks one two wait yeah yeah Wolfenstein games machine games is all first person all day you gotta have a third person in the

[00:31:12] Indiana Jones game right do you feel like having like seeing him with the jacket and all and like he's grabbing a hat and it's like uncharted-ish a little bit you feel like that has to be there the jacket and hat right like it I feel like

[00:31:27] I feel like you're right but at the same time it's machine games why do you ask machine games to make an Indiana Jones game if they're not going to do what they do best yeah if they do it first person

[00:31:35] you know what I'm tacking this on as a bonus here's a bonus prediction from me if Indiana Jones is first person we're going to get idle animations of him taking off his hat and playing with it so you see the hat

[00:31:48] right um yes it's going to be like him playing with his whip yes that was I was just going to say that him like cracking the whip that's an idle animation while you're over there like I don't know getting a drink of water or going to the bathroom

[00:32:01] yeah bonus prediction he's going to lose his hat in a cut scene and be like about to like fall off a cliff and like reach back and grab it like crack the whip and somehow fling it up towards him

[00:32:13] yes or they'll just build that in as like a mechanic like a hat mechanic dude imagine it's like uh there's a special achievement in Indiana Jones and it's play the game without the hat falling off your head beat the game without the hat hitting the ground

[00:32:28] Jake why are we producers because we would drive game devs insane we are high risk higher us right nothing more than ideas men and I feel like like all right you have to have this trophy in the game

[00:32:42] where Indiana Jones is that can't touch the floor and we're going to call the achievement keepy upy and it's going to be worth xbox is worth a hundred gamer score it's uh it's a platinum not a platinum it's like a gold trophy on playstation and then

[00:32:57] the game devs will leave the meeting and they would say that jake of guy is and they're going to have a huge list of words they're gonna yeah honestly anything to do with a hat I imagine is probably incredibly

[00:33:10] difficult from a programming standpoint so i'm guessing that there's probably not that much going on with that but stays on um yeah I read somewhere sorry we're we're a bit of a tangent I read somewhere that um somebody had

[00:33:25] written a scene where they wanted somebody to reach into like a handbag pull out a letter open it read it and put the letter back in and that one of the game devs was like you are asking for a death sentence

[00:33:38] right now that this is going to be a total nightmare to do for this game so yeah I imagine anything with a hat is probably just a pain in the butt especially if the hat could knock off if it reacted to

[00:33:50] physics too yeah no way it's gonna happen well I hope we find out next Thursday and I think we'll definitely we will open our discussion of next week's episode with probably talking about that direct I imagine yeah well with that let's jump

[00:34:50] the sequel from the celeste it's not a sequel but it's from that studio from the celeste studio sorry not sequel but yeah yeah their next game yeah so the prediction is earth blade and hollow knight silk song released within

[00:35:02] a month of each other speaking of celeste I heard the prince of purge a game has celeste like platforming puzzles challenges that's a pretty hefty one but yeah I mean you're probably right because this is just how things go

[00:35:20] right yep there's always these games always release within each other the big games that you really want okay number one so that is earth blade and hollow knight silk song within a month of each other

[00:35:35] all right you doing your first one here yes my first prediction of the year is the switch to who is announced for this year alongside a new 3d donkey kong game ooh dude I like this idea of flunching with a

[00:35:58] with DK yes I think so here's my weird prediction and obviously this doesn't make any sense but listen weird Nintendo decisions okay true comes out with a pretty premium like triple a donkey kong game okay like that's that's the one of the launch titles

[00:36:21] okay and this isn't part of my prediction but I'm just going to throw this in there because I think it makes it even more wild so exclude this but I'm going to actually toss this out I also think we get Mario Kart 9

[00:36:33] with the switch to launch yeah but the nick the next 3d Mario game doesn't come till later in the year or even maybe like beginning of 2025 like it's later on okay I actually have a really similar prediction to that one so

[00:36:47] I will jump to that and it was uh it's like actually the complete backwards switch to launches with a new 3d Mario and a new 3d DK comes out within six months okay I mean that's the more logical one but you know I'm getting wild

[00:37:05] hey you know what we say that these are fun and even though we get fractions of points and we you know miserably fail in our predictions it's all about the fun along the way

[00:37:16] it is all about the fun yeah I mean that makes way more sense obviously but Nintendo is weird right you know what I'm saying Nintendo is weird I mean did was anybody no offense Nintendo was anybody asking for Mario versus donkey

[00:37:28] kong remake reboot thing not a single person was asking for that not a single it's coming very soon yeah it'll sell 20 million copies likely you know true I feel like if we haven't had a new Mario Kart obviously we have all this extra content

[00:37:46] from our current and the reason we haven't had a new Mario Kart is because it continues to sell like insanity right but imagine if they release a Mario Kart 9 alongside the next switch then you don't even need a 3d Mario and

[00:37:59] you can just let that cook even longer and then you keep the momentum going you know yeah I don't know yeah okay but donkey Kong that's what I that's what I do donkey Kong game

[00:38:11] DK64 for switch to DK64 remake nice all right all right my number my next prediction is a Microsoft Studios game wins game of the year what dude I don't know I mean Cameron and I for the longest time of the show

[00:38:30] have said that we're Xbox shills but I don't know I think you've gone too far I've gone too far yeah so I mean obviously look you have the behemoth final fantasy 7 rebirth sitting right there however Hellblade 2 maybe Indiana Jones

[00:38:51] avowed are you banking on recency bias because final fantasy 7 whatever else is coming out in February and what if like Hellblade 2 comes out in October or something I don't know I think this is this gets set at the

[00:39:06] beginning of every year but that's because it always seems to be set up this way and it always falls through but I'm just going to put it out in the universe Xbox gets their game of the year this year dude you just made Phil Spencer so happy

[00:40:48] years um yes Stardew Valley 1.6 is released in q3 but haunted chocolate here does not release in 2024 yeah yeah this is you're gonna get this one I need something after several years of a bunch of bad predictions dude I think all we're

[00:41:04] gonna get is just more screenshots that's it the funny thing is like I'm sure eight post one screenshot on Twitter and it's got like 50 000 likes and 3 million impressions within an hour yeah he doesn't have enough to mark it I know he's a two out of four it's crazy

[00:41:22] it's amazing what okay my number three is Ubisoft has a banner year ooh releases three games at least three games with over 80 or above on medicare whoa so Prince of Persia is hitting that Prince of Persia can't count because we saw the reviews before I made this

[00:41:47] prediction but no you did you make this prediction though before the reviews came today yes I did I did okay so you're just gonna have to trust us on this one dude but I mean I guess I could just change it to two but we'll

[00:41:59] just keep it at three but but after release two more games well yeah what you got skull and bones above an 80 you got skull and bones and you have a new assassin's creed in star war coming in the fall and you have

[00:42:15] star wars outlaws and probably something else oh dude I think this is Ubisoft's comeback year they got the assassin's creed in feudal japan which people have been clamoring for forever they skipped like a couple years right they're working on this assassin's

[00:42:32] creed it's been brewing for a while they're trying to like make it there like a next you know the big the big release they obviously had Prince of Persia which just came out which you know got super high praise

[00:42:43] I think this is a Ubisoft year they're gonna crack the code this year they're gonna they're gonna come back a little bit I think I like it and I want this to happen I want this comeback too that everybody wins if a comeback like this occurs

[00:42:56] yeah that I would love for Ubisoft to figure out how to kind of break out of their you know wrote their their formula that served them so well for so long but it's just not really serving them anymore

[00:43:10] to figure out how to sort of like break that or morph it or transform it just enough to kind of get their games back up I mean they were never like the the critical darling but they just made you know solid stuff that

[00:43:24] everybody played and sold tons of copies they still sort of do that but I would I just I think this year they're gonna do it right okay let's see it happen all right my number four light no fire

[00:43:40] enters early access in the summer I know at the game awards light no fire got a lot of time and attention and they were talking about it and saying that it had been in development for five years and I just think that hello games you know

[00:43:59] one of the go-to examples of a turnaround comeback story they are playing this game very smart and they're gonna do early access that early access is going to come in the summer and they're just going to kind of polish off kind of top off

[00:44:15] game development and production with community input and with a lot of players testing how the game functions before they do their 1.0 launch here it is written in stone summertime yeah I think I like that I could see it even actually being earlier than that

[00:44:34] maybe I waffled a bit on a time frame but I'm sticking with summer yeah I mean I feel like it's gotta go into early access this year yeah I mean it's already been cooking for what he said five years in the development

[00:44:48] yeah yeah I mean that yeah I'm really looking forward to see how they like evolve the no man's guy formula how they take on everything they've learned and put into this fantasy sort of huge earth setting yeah I mean this game just oozes coolness man

[00:45:08] best trailer of the game awards for sure oh yeah by far it just it just looks freaking cool is this the year the survival game I mean we got that we haven't shrouded the blizzard thing we have like the blizzard thing

[00:45:20] what's that what if that blizzard the blizzard thing could get announced yeah for sure Kobe yeah like what's blizzard have going on right now I mean I think I feel like that's like the next big thing yeah it is

[00:45:34] okay my next up is Suicide Squad yep here comes surprises oh I like it scores low on Metacritic but sells big and it gets popular following I could see this I could see Suicide Squad

[00:45:55] launching and being kind of one of those games that everybody's like yeah it's a seven out of ten but you should play it you know yeah I'm gonna be positive on this game I think I've seen enough to indicate to me that the gameplay itself like just the

[00:46:10] just the like moment-to-moment flip a dip around the map you know fly around Metropolis the graphics the shooting like all that stuff all that stuff like on its face obviously for obvious reasons so easy to make fun of because it's so derivative

[00:46:31] you know I don't think they're doing anything crazy with the formula they're not like reinventing anything but the thing is is like it's been in development so long right it's um it's it's done by Rocksteady who made you know some of the best combat in any game

[00:46:50] so like they know how to make good video games like it looks good the traversal like looks fun so I think if that part of it is good enough then this good and the fact that it's like it's gonna get a huge marketing push

[00:47:07] because it's WB and WB games and like they're gonna it's DC yeah and they're sort of relaunching their DC universe next year and they're not gonna want this to fail and so it's gonna get market the crap I

[00:47:19] think this is gonna make it's gonna make a lot of money and I think it's gonna have a following so that's my prediction okay I like it I like that optimism I think they deserve that optimism

[00:47:30] right okay what am I I mean of course it could also just tank I don't think it's gonna be an avenger situation I think that that's like worst-case scenario right that would be worst-case scenario I just I don't think that's gonna

[00:47:45] happen here nice I like it so yeah okay my next one um Xbox hits three fourths of their quarterly releases for 2023 and so what I mean by that is that they had this promise of first party games coming out

[00:48:00] one game every quarter and I think they're gonna hit three of those so I don't think we're gonna get four major first party Xbox games I think we're getting three yeah this is probably fair what one of

[00:48:13] the something's gonna get announced for holiday and get delayed for sure and it's probably going to be indiana jones probably I think I think that's that's pretty spot on there's a small chance like I feel like there's now

[00:48:26] because of the rumor there's a medium chance indiana jones gets announced next week for holiday 2024 I then gets delayed out of that like in June probably yeah I could see that or you know or whatever else it is docker 2 or whatever

[00:48:43] on night yeah they haven't been able to hit this quarterly thing yeah ever I'm hoping that this year is the first year that they can but this is probably a safe prediction it is because I need to get some

[00:48:54] points next year I need to get a whole point so you can make me play the most obscure story driven indie game that I've ever seen and it will break your heart but it'll also be littered with bugs yes okay my number five is xbox

[00:49:12] launches a number of Activision Blizzard Game Pass benefits this year including a world of warcraft subscription discount like with game pass or just broadly not even with game with game pass so you get game pass you get five bucks a month off your world of

[00:49:36] warcraft world of warcraft monthly I like this because there's been a lot of speculation about how wow subscriptions will change or if they'll change at all right I like this it's like oh yeah I

[00:49:51] just spend five or ten bucks more and you get wow on top of all these other games nice but you're saying a number of Activision Blizzard perks yeah I think because I think there'll be other little things like Diablo for little like you know widgets and like

[00:50:10] but but this something like this will be like that this is what I think this is like my big prediction this one on World of Warcraft but I do think there'll be other stuff like little call of duty battle pass

[00:50:20] coins master chief skin in every single Activision Blizzard game yeah something like you know I'm saying like some sort of this is just too obvious they're they're having meetings hours and hours of meetings right now to figure out like what these synergies are going to be so

[00:50:36] did I just want Spyro it's gonna it's gonna spyro with the master chief helmet now the insane move like the insanity move the insanity move like if you were just completely unhinged wild man Phil Spencer like you just

[00:50:52] like just went off the deep end but if you wanted to like crack Game Pass wide open you make the World of Warcraft subscription free with Game Pass yeah dude that would be something here's the thing I do think here's the thing

[00:51:10] obviously you lose some of that sub money but you gain Game Pass subscribers and you increase like the attach rate to the three new expansions that they're coming out with over the next year and a half two years

[00:51:25] oh that's yeah in a big way you see what I'm saying yeah so strategy that's all I'm saying Phil give me a call let me know and while it's coming to console right like is that a surefire thing or is

[00:51:37] that a safe bet this is not a prediction I feel like they'd be dumb not to crack that open on console okay but I don't know why they wouldn't have done it up till now but now that they have Microsoft's money why not I mean they had Activision

[00:51:53] money but Bobby Kotick right dude they're probably like why should why would we work on a console version of this one we can just make another unicorn oh my gosh dude the horror stories that have come out of the woodwork since

[00:52:09] he has officially left have been mind blowing dude so I almost I almost made a prediction but I was like I don't want to waste my predictions on this but I almost made a prediction that was Bobby Kotick joins another a different gaming company as CEO

[00:52:27] Bobby Kotick uh become CEO of Embracer Group or something I mean here's the thing though dude he totally in that circle of elitist executive snobs who know nothing about games and are just spreadsheet monkeys he's like a god he's he made Activision like

[00:52:50] gobs and gobs and gobs of cash and led the most profitable gaming franchise out there I mean his resume on paper even though he's a complete a hole did in that circle he's like he could do whatever he wants Embracer Group gonna hire

[00:53:04] him do I need to add this as a prediction oh my gosh Embracer Group hires Bobby even just like Bobby Kotick joins like the board of Embracer Group like I wouldn't be as surprised in the least here's the thing Bobby Kotick inherited

[00:53:20] Call of Duty he can't he's never going to be able to ooh create his own call he tosses and turns at night because of that truth right so we're just dropping bombs on the surface um okay back to a little more tame prediction

[00:53:38] my next one number six is PlayStation surprises with a currently unannounced exclusive game that hits at least 83 on Metacritic on launch I'm going with this because I just kind of simply refuse to believe that Sony is going to go 2024 without some big exclusive

[00:54:03] like first-party exclusive they've got Rise of the Ronin and they've got Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and obviously that's going to push PS5 cells and that's going to sell incredibly well in PlayStation but to go an entire year without like a first-party studio game

[00:54:17] I don't I can't buy it so when I'm putting here and I'm purposely sort of keeping this open this might be like a double-a game but it's got to be a PlayStation surprises with currently unannounced first-party exclusive game that hits at least 83 on Metacritic on launch

[00:54:34] yeah I love this I sure hope so they can't they can't let Xbox release a ton of first-party games in this year it'll change the tide of opinions pretty drastically yeah it wouldn't be a good luck for them to have none no powerhouse game come out

[00:54:51] and then xbox has three you know so okay my next one is a Nintendo 64 slash GameCube era Zelda game gets a remake re-release this year oh so what have we got there Ocarina of Time Majora's Mask Ocarina Time Majora's Mask

[00:55:18] Wind Waker Twilight Princess um Twilight Princess is Twilight Princess on GameCube I think it is gotta double check that Zelda nerds you already know the answer to this and I'm thinking I'm thinking remake probably yeah I'm thinking

[00:55:40] I feel like it's time for like an Ocarina remake you know like it's such a it's such a beloved game that still gets like so much attention and they've been sort of working their way up right with with these little sort of

[00:55:55] re-dos in that cool art style yeah I just feel like there's just too much money I mean I don't know weird Nintendo decisions will probably be like weird like Twilight Princess but okay a few things Twilight Princess did come out on

[00:56:09] GameCube so that is a viable pick for your prediction I feel like it can't be Wind Waker because it got the HD version or whatever on Wii U and so I feel like that's just gonna get like a switch release but I guess maybe that counts that's

[00:56:28] basically what I'm saying is there gonna be some type of yeah something here folks no I I I disagree I think there's a higher chance that Wind Waker gets some kind of a remake than Ocarina of Time

[00:56:40] I think Nintendo considers Ocarina of Time to be too much of a sacred cow but then again it got that 3ds like what was that like a remake or whatever yeah like the up res yeah I still think it's too much of I think it's too

[00:56:57] sacred to touch still it got a facelift and like an up a teeny bit of an upright is on 3ds yeah yeah that'd be cool though I haven't played Wind Waker I think that's that in Skyward Sword are the only major Zelda games I haven't played

[00:57:15] Wind Waker is great Wind Waker is like Wind Waker is pretty awesome in fact a lot of people consider Wind Waker better than Ocarina of Time I I don't know about that just because it's the nostalgia for me but I do think

[00:57:27] Wind Waker from a gameplay standpoint definitely holds up better Wind Waker is out of those two games well it's only one I want to play I even when Skyward Sword got that re-release on it for Switch

[00:57:38] dude there's just like nothing about that game that seems appealing to me even though it's a Zelda title I've watched tons of streams I've read a bunch of information but there's just something about it that doesn't do it for me so

[00:57:52] I would love to see Wind Waker come to Switch because I do want to play if Wind Waker hit Switch you've got you gotta yeah I would it's got to be prioritized because it's it's definitely worth your time

[00:58:04] all right when we first started doing a little bit of a preface to this next prediction or is it your turn sorry no you just did the N64 one a little bit of a preface to this prediction

[00:58:18] when we first started doing predictions I had a chain of Banjo-Kazooie predictions and then I lost all hope and I this year am doing my final Studio MDHR prediction and I'm gonna lose all hope afterwards I've done three Studio MDHR predictions and none of them were correct

[00:58:42] so this one is Studio MDHR announces a new game and it is not a Cuphead sequel so this is a pretty big turnaround from Cuphead 2 with local brawl mode and I just think that obviously Studio MDHR takes their sweet time

[00:59:00] developing things and they've done a lot with Cuphead but I just think that they as a studio have spent so much time with this IP that they're ready to bring something else to the table maybe not move on permanently from Cuphead but they're ready

[00:59:15] to bring in their second you know second game yeah I mean I I think it's been long enough for sure for them to announce it although the studio is slow because they make really hard stuff with that like

[00:59:32] very sexy art style that they sort of created slash championed right you know I just had the thought though what if Steamboat Willie was a character in their next game I would pay big money for Steamboat Willie to be just like a DLC one-off boss in Cuphead

[00:59:51] like if Studio MDHR was like oh by the way spend five bucks and you get this extra boss and it's Steamboat Willie like in a heartbeat I'd buy that and gift it to tell you what I feel

[01:00:04] like that's like that's such low hanging fruit you're just like hey let's just make some cash we'll make like one little square added to the expansion island yeah so that and it's Steamboat Willie boss and it's like insanity boss brutal it looks like the most difficult

[01:00:20] boss I've ever made yeah we are a couple of ideas men over here Studio MDHR if you look if you're looking for producers to drive your devs absolutely insane with ideas please contact us

[01:00:34] we got ideas all day okay that's why they pay us the big bucks here oh man okay I'll jump to my number seven uh number seven more than 10 count them 10 remaster slash remakes are either released or announced this year more than 10

[01:00:58] 10 so what I'm saying is the remake ball is is a rolling okay and this is just going to continue to cascade everyone's jumping on this bandwagon there's way too much money to be made

[01:01:13] it's a way easier this year they're either going to be 10 I'm counting releases or announcements of remakes slash remasters all right folks I'm going to throw something into the ring here if one of those 10 is a blood-borne remaster or remake I will just seed winning the predictions

[01:01:35] to Cameron that's how confident I am that it will not be announced this year we are never getting a blood-borne remake ever never they haven't done it by now they're never doing

[01:01:52] never just like they are never I kind of wish from softwood just like announce like listen guys we're never making this so stop talking about it that's I have something in relation to blood-borne

[01:02:09] soon so buddy brought it I imagine it from software like every month was like okay big from software direct it's two minutes long and they're like we are never making a blood-borne remake it will never happen people would still probably believe that somebody somewhere

[01:02:27] was making a blood-borne remake all right eight this one it's a bit it's a bit impatient I think I'll put it that way deep rockelactic survivors leaves early access by the end of the year

[01:02:43] so that is supposed to go into early access within the next few months and I feel like early access trends at minimum are six months but that's quite rare and so I but my prediction

[01:02:54] here is that deep rockelactic survivors is going to hit it's 1.0 launch before 2024 is up yeah I mean this this quote-unquote like genre this is just the first first I think major of like

[01:03:11] release in this vampire survivors genre that's I think is going to get a huge amount of attention yeah especially given the popularity of deep rockelactic and yeah I think it's going to be big and especially when it hits consoles yeah absolutely because people are going to be like

[01:03:28] starving for the next what's the next vampire survivors thing right I was addicted right and this will be there that's a good one okay so this is one that I'm repeating from last time

[01:03:40] because I genuinely think that this is going to happen so this is one I'm probably just going to keep predicting every year until it happens Xbox announces a dedicated game streaming stick optimized for game pass I just think like as a business

[01:03:57] Xbox's entire strategy is like get games to people anywhere right that's their whole thing it's like we want as many people as possible to play our games on as many things as possible right

[01:04:13] even PlayStation if they'll let us probably right and we're starting to hear hints of you know some something like see a thieves is like maybe you know right because at a certain point like

[01:04:24] you how do you expand the audience and I think what the big one of the biggest barriers to gaming obviously is price like getting a game console is expensive so how many more of these can you

[01:04:40] get into the market if you come out with this and I'm not saying it's going to release but I think I'm just to put this out of the universe that it gets announced it's a streaming

[01:04:50] stick and it's some sort of like tech optimized for specifically for cloud streaming that's all it does you can all you can do on it is cloud stream and it's literally like a streaming device

[01:05:00] like a Roku or an Apple TV plus for gaming I think last year I had faith in you I think this year I don't gonna leave you on that one yeah I get it but I if it doesn't happen again this is

[01:05:16] why I said I'm probably just going to keep making this I feel like we probably maybe still a bit early but I'm just going to make it because it's fun okay yeah um well more likely get

[01:05:26] like a console refresh but snooze snooze that's boring dude please don't come out with a console refresh and then you can only play held by two and sixty frames on the new boosted like oh no

[01:05:42] Xbox series y or whatever the Xbox series why oh my gosh um the Xbox series x pro oh please don't do that to me please Xbox come up with some sort of normal easy to remember original name

[01:05:58] for your next whatever it is but ultimately I will buy it at a FOMO so great yeah I probably would too okay nine you ready for this one do it two Pokemon games get announced Pokemon legends

[01:06:15] ho oh so this is going to be Pokemon legends but in the Johto region instead of the Sinnoh region and the gen 10 mainline game we're at 10 the 10th generation of mainline Pokemon games and that game is going to feature a return to the original Kanto region

[01:06:39] hey I like it like Kanto region 20 years later after I'll be honest with you nothing could get me to play Pokemon more than if they just remastered Pokemon red

[01:06:55] but not like let's go okay so like no no no not like let's go okay you know what I'm saying yeah yeah so that one too Pokemon legends ho oh and then the 10th generation mainline game

[01:07:09] is going to take place in Kanto they're going back to their roots and they're gonna make a big deal out of this being gen 10 that's awesome I love it hopefully it won't be boring pow pow world dude pow world oh my gosh I'll get me started

[01:07:30] I don't want to shoot does pow world change the face of Pokemon forever imagine if the 10th generation of Pokemon they're like you know what screw it it's Pikachu with an ak47

[01:07:41] and you are going to play through so in in the original Pokemon games red red and blue Lieutenant Surge was in the military and he makes reference to a war in which he was a part

[01:07:55] with Pokemon so it is within the creative possibilities of Pokemon lore and history to have Pikachu with an ak47 I feel like that would be more suited to an anime than maybe dude I'd watch that actually could you imagine it's an anime featuring Lieutenant Surge

[01:09:28] game ip right yeah um I mean they've already done like an uncharted movie you know which wasn't great we know ghost of sushi ma's like they're doing a film for that yeah uh but you know I could totally

[01:09:44] see like a horizon zero down okay you know I could totally see um I mean any number of ip or projects uh yeah I can't think of like exactly which ones would be like the top picks out top my

[01:10:01] head but I just think there's gonna be a lot and they're gonna be like premium high budget stuff okay I would love it if they did something with Metroid after playing Metroid dread I'm like

[01:10:10] this could easily be some sort of mini series and this could be easily be a very cool you know gritty sci-fi dramatic series but gritty dramatic you know that doesn't really jive I think necessarily

[01:10:28] with what Nintendo is always looking for um dude yeah I would love a Metroid one I had another one off the top of my head um hey what about what if they did a live action Zelda movie Cameron

[01:11:10] actually see something on it all right so give me your final prediction okay due to backlash from this most recent game awards the game awards modifies at least two of their categories hey okay so the game awards is coming up on their 10 year anniversary the game awards has

[01:11:31] changed their categories in the past but I think the backlash was severe enough that they're going to change um categories themselves what did that be like rules that define the categories or

[01:11:42] maybe they just completely toss some out and replace them with something else um the game awards is going to make major modifications to at least two categories to respond to that and to kind of

[01:11:53] usher in the 10 year anniversary of the game awards yeah I feel like this has to happen they had too much backlash um and Jeff Keely is showing that he's open to to making adjustments right

[01:12:07] yeah I mean he gets a whole lot of crap and you know some of it's deserved for sure but I think at the end of the day the guy loves video games and he really does want to celebrate them um and you

[01:12:17] know I don't need we don't need to add any criticism or suggestions here people have been doing this for weeks now at this point but I do think I agree with you you know he has shown that he's willing

[01:12:27] to make changes and that those changes will come funny enough Greg Miller is hosting and Stella from IG and her host Amy Dice Awards and he was tweeting out and I completely agree with him

[01:12:39] he's like look if you were yelling at the screen are complaining that the game awards is not an actual award show then you better sit your ace down for the dice because that's exactly what that

[01:12:51] is yeah and I couldn't agree more it's like hey you can complain about this but the reality is the only reason this thing gets millions you know tens of millions of views is because

[01:13:01] of trailers right I'm not saying obviously there's a balance and they had the balance off like we talked about but yeah he's right the dice awards is like the true game awards you know

[01:13:14] yeah I mean put your money where your mouth is right if you're complaining about him but you're not given these other awards everybody's a chance you're not you know you're not helping you're not changing anything you're maintaining the status quo Cameron what is your final prediction

[01:13:29] for the gaming in 2024 my final prediction is we finally see what blue point is working on no I yeah no and it's not bloodborne how long ago was it that blue point said I think it was

[01:13:55] recently when they were when they were recently acquired by Sony they said that they were working on their own original IP isn't that correct yeah they said that so but then there's also rumors that they are also doing a remake of something which everybody thinks is bloodborne because

[01:14:12] they feel like they'd be perfect for it which is probably true but like I just said a minute ago dude I just don't think that this is happening man like I feel like you would have teased this

[01:14:22] even if it was like a three four year headway right like you would have teased this by now which which I think says to me and didn't you say this to me or maybe you read it somewhere that

[01:14:32] the reason that they haven't done anything with it is because from soft is like we want to be involved or like do it ourselves if it's going to be done like we're not I remember hearing

[01:14:40] that I don't know something like that that could be completely complete another nonsense slash conjecture but wait a second yeah your 10th prediction could line up with my PlayStation surprises with the currently unannounced first-party exclusive game we could both earn a point on the same

[01:15:00] game come on blue point make it happen I mean we gotta hear blue points gotta come on come on yeah I actually well ladies and gentlemen that is our predictions of the year so just to

[01:15:13] rehash I can do mine really quick and then Jake you do yours so my 10 predictions are switch to is announced alongside a 3d donkey con game number two a microsoft studios game wins game of the year

[01:15:24] number three ubisoft has a banner year releases three games with over 80 or above unbeta critic four suicide squad surprises scores low on meta critic but gets huge sales numbers and a popular following number five xbox launches a number of activision blizzard game pass benefits this

[01:15:40] year including world of warcraft subscription discount number six one nintendo 64 game cuba or zella game gets a remaster re-release seven more than 10 remaster remakes are either released or announced this year number eight xbox announces dedicated game streaming stick optimized for game

[01:15:58] pass nine at least four more gaming ip's get movies or premium tv series announced and 10 we finally hear what blue point is working on and it's not blood born jake what are your 10 here

[01:16:09] they are earth blade and hollow knight silk song released within one month of each other to stardew valley 1.6 is released in q3 but haunted chocolatier does not release in 2024 three light no fire enters early access in the summer for xbox hits three out of four of their

[01:16:27] quarterly releases for 2024 five playstation surprises with a currently unannounced first party exclusive game that hits at least 83 on meta critic on launch six studio mdhr announces a new game and is not a cuphead sequel seven switch to launches with a new 3d mario and a new 3d

[01:16:46] dk within six months of launch eight deep rocolactic survivors leaves early access by the end of the year nine two pokemon games get announced pokemon legends ho oh in the johto region and the 10th

[01:16:59] generation game comes out to take place in kanto again and then 10 the tamer the game awards significantly modifies at least two of their categories well ladies and gentlemen that's our predictions period about his podcast for 2024 we got an exciting year ahead for video games i am

[01:17:20] i'm optimistic i know everyone was saying last year was like excuse me the preeminent year but i think this year is going to be awesome too we're going to get some awesome games and along

[01:17:31] those lines i think we want to we're going to do this now right not its own episode talk about our most anticipated just like really briefly and i think it's suitable because this is one of those

[01:17:42] years where we really don't know like what's going to happen in the back half of the year we really don't have any insight because all those delays of all those games like from the covet

[01:17:55] times those games have all come out now so now it's like sort of uncharted territory right jake i feel that way too i feel like past april we really don't have a great idea of what is

[01:18:08] supposed to be coming out the rest of this year so um a lot of the games like that i have a my list i'm being excuse me i'm being optimistic about the releases some of them i'm pretty confident

[01:18:19] that they're going to come out this year but some of them i'm we'll see recently um people are like yeah this is coming out but we'll see so i think i have a lot on my list but i'll just i'll quickly

[01:18:30] just give a few off the top of my head and then jake you can give yours um prince of purge which comes out next week that has looked like really good and already has great reviews um

[01:18:42] that's on all platforms and again it's coming out next week i'm actually really looking forward to the last of us part two remaster oh interesting yeah uh i i really enjoyed last of us part two i think it's

[01:18:53] like a really fantastic it's an incredible game excited to see like what they do with the remaster that roguelike mode you know that they added into it and um yeah just having an opportunity

[01:19:05] to like play this game this is one of those games where i got to the end literally like had my gel on the floor and had to pick myself up off the ground um yeah like a dragon infinite wealth

[01:19:15] this is just nuts like this this is just one of those games that like you can't look away but because what like what you're seeing doesn't make any sense to you but you're like

[01:19:27] what is happening like this game is just it's just wild i feel like i'm not gonna be able to resist this and i know that i probably should but i feel like i'm not gonna feel like like

[01:19:37] a dragon infinite wealth i watched a brief two and a half minute video that was produced by uh britney bonbecker of what's good games and i was falling in love with the game dude it does it

[01:19:49] looks fantastic it does just about everything and i'm like you know what this game is like a minimum 200 hours like just oh yeah easily i know and i'm like i need i need to sleep i have a

[01:20:04] family i need to think about i need to resist like a dragon infinite wealth don't do it man don't do but you're gonna do it um and probably my most anticipated for the year is final fantasy seven

[01:20:16] rebirth i just i i loved final fantasy seven remakes so much in fact i was sitting today actually i was thinking to myself i should probably play through remake again maybe that's what i should

[01:20:28] do before remaster comes or i'm actually about to start integrate so i i hadn't played that i'm about to start that because i want to make sure i get that done before final fantasy seven releases

[01:20:41] i'm just trying to wrap up resident evil four and then i'm going to move on to integrate and then a couple more here is a homeworld three i love strategy games this is a like space

[01:20:59] strategy the homeworld games are like very well renowned this is a pc thing excited for that dragon dragon's dog matu continues to just look incredible um and then blackmouth wukong looks insane

[01:21:16] supposed to come out in august and in warhammer 40k space marine two which man got pushed a whole year so yeah i was gonna say you've been waiting for that one for quite a while now i've been

[01:21:28] waiting now for a while yeah for sure um that didn't like include everything i mean i'm excited for all like the microsoft stuff those are kind of the top things obviously we don't know when

[01:21:40] those are coming out yet so i'm hesitant to say like you know if they're even gonna obviously help play two and about and like those ones but i'm sure mid-year will have another conversation about like most anticipated halfway through the year but those are kind of my top

[01:21:55] nice um i've got a list of 10 here i was a little more optimistic some of these games we are fairly confident they're coming out this year but they don't have release dates these aren't in

[01:22:05] order with the exception of final fantasy 7 rebirth that is my number one anticipated game of 2024 loved the remake i love final fantasy 7 um listen i'm not like a true final fantasy fan but final fantasy 7 is one that really really resonates with me so i'm super excited for

[01:22:22] that um other the other games i have on this list um banishers ghost of new eden um i've i've come to oh yes i've come to really really like don't nod games and i'm super curious about this one

[01:22:37] i am still waiting for a little more of the marketing push and some reviews before i commit to it but i've been extremely excited about what i have seen um avowed man um i know some people

[01:22:51] were kind of turned off by the most recent gameplay trailer that came out i want to believe like some xbox showcase over the summer but i was excited like it looked it looks so fun to me i really

[01:23:01] want to get in there uh the next one i have a senua sago helblad 2 again dude this game has to come out this year please just stop teasing it at this point the next one is a sequel to a

[01:23:13] game that i loved yes your grace snowfall is slated to come out this year dude you're getting all these ones i they're they're somewhere on a list somewhere yeah no and this one looks phenomenal

[01:23:27] like i loved yes your grace which is a really brutal but beautiful game and i'm so so excited for the sequel there next one i have is dragons dogma 2 um i was indifferent when this was first

[01:23:39] announced because i haven't played the original game but everything i've seen since then has just been nothing but hype for me for me like 2024 might just be with the uh it might just be the year of

[01:23:49] like fantasy games like if all these fantasy games come out and they all stick the landing like it's the year of fantasy games speaking of the next one i have is elden ring shadow of the

[01:24:01] urd tree um yeah we don't know when this is coming that's the only reason i didn't say anything because i'm like yeah i think it's coming but yeah Cameron was more concrete with his picks

[01:24:13] for this i'm i'm being a little more dreamy a little more optimistic okay so the next one this is an indie game it's called Europa it is confirmed to come to pc in april it looks stunning it's

[01:24:24] this exploration game folks you heard it here Europa is going to be a smash hit people are gonna love this one uh the next one i have is replaced again this one's been pushed out a ton but hopefully

[01:24:40] it's this year and then this last one i know Cameron you're gonna you're gonna beat yourself up because i know you're excited for this one too the plucky squire um oh yeah that one is definitely

[01:24:51] coming on this again another tbd right another tbd but devolver digital digital has been acting quite confident about that one's release this year and they're actually going to have some sort of press showcase discussing the games coming out for 2024 and it will feature the plucky squire
