Looking ahead to 2026 in Gaming

Hello everybody, and welcome to another episode of the Other Trolls gaming podcast. If you are new and joining us, we are two brothers should get together and talk about gaming. Yeah, apologies, will be abruptly just stopped filming because it was very busy, and we usually do around to the end of November. We're just like, take a holiday break, take a holiday hiatus, you know, and then we keep it, keeping it fresh, keep it, you know, keep the juice is flowing. For the for the pun. And then six twenty twenty five we'll do we'll touch a little bit on Yeah, on. Uh, I guess because we didn't cover the We covered our votes for the Game Awards. We didn't cover anything that happened there. There's a lot of stuff that was revealed and whatnot. I don't even remember. Ah. Well, we had like Divinity, We had the Larian uh Divinity trailer, which was crazy crazy, that's all really, Uh. But first I bought a newth gaming chair, a black light Athena Pro. You're currently not sitting in it, no, and my back is screaming at me with every second your hips. I had that chair. I had that chair, that same chair you're sitting in right now. I had. If I could draw, if I could draw you a picture of what my body looks like right now, you would throw up. Do you have pants on? Well? No, But like I've raised my ass out of the seat because the seat crushes the hips right this seat. So I put like a foam pad to lift me out of the seat. So now my ass and just like ooze off the sides of the of this pad that I've sat on, and I've got then I've got like a rolled up towel from my lower back, and then I've got another rolled up towel to fill out the gap in the lower back end of the chair so my ass doesn't slip into the It's so terrible and I can only sit up here for like an hour, so I haven't been I haven't been gaming much on my PC. Like we'll play downstairs for a little bit. I'll play downstairs when we're playing Arc Raiders, I'll play on the PS five for like an hour, and then I'll move up to the PC and finish the night on the PC because I just can't sit up here for too long. Yeah, I mean, I can see that I don't love sitting at the at the PC for too long. But yeah, I'm hoping this. I'm hoping this chair will it should it should? I think, yeah, it definitely will. But it set me back about with discounts and everything. I think I got one hundred and thirty five bucks off the chair. They're not cheap, they're not cheap. So I think I landed like shipping taxes, landed six hundred, six hundred and thirty. It's cheaper than mine was. Yeah, but I don't have a gamer chair. I have a eight office chair, like ergonomic office chair. This one's not supposed to be It's not like one of those racing bucket seats gaming chairs, like the fucking It's not like that. It's like a it's a very wide set, so for a wide set man. Yeah, so the hips have space. It's got like a nice memory foam seat with adjustable lumbar support. The only thing I'm going to the only thing I'm scared about are the the arm rests. No chair has ever got arm rests straight for me. So, yeah, do some a guy ring about that the Secret Labs chairs. The arm wrests are really high, so. You have to I have to, like when I use PAMs, I have to kind of adjust the seat the level accordingly. It's kind of weird. Did you see the link I sent you? Some guy on Etsy makes the separators. Are the extensions for that? Oh yeah yeah yeah yeah extensions. Yeah, it's like an extension. He probably just three D printed something. Yeah, and you you mount it underneath the arm so like pushes the arms down. It's the it's like a bracket that goes between Oh so it lowers it. Yeah, it lowers the because a lot of people don't like that. Yeah, it's really high. They're super high, super high. I'm excited. It still hasn't even shipped yet. Like, fuck, that's what ordering around the holidays sucks. Ass his success gotta wait till the new year for its ship and then take a week to get to me. By then I'll be dead. Yeah, you might be dead. The chair, this chair was gonna fucking kill me. I had to get rid of that chair. It was that was horrible. I had two of these. I had to these pieces of ship. I sold one. Those aren't cheap either. Those things were like three hundred bucks. Yeah. Man, they're fucking garbage. It's like it's like Staple's best chair. I got mine on Amazon, but it's the same one. It's the same ship one. Oh what did you get for Christmas? Oh? The I don't even know what was it. What's it called. It's called a Retro R three six something. I don't know what it's called. Handheld TMU handheld gamer emulation station plays up to Dreamcast that's supposed to I haven't tried. I should try Dreamcast game on it. I tried a diddycong racing on sixty four and it runs at about nineteen frames a second, so it's not very powerful. Also, I played this NHL game from the Arcade emulator mame like. I think it was amazing. I remember that. Oh yeah, hell yeah. It was called like NHL Open Ice or something, and I played it. It was okay, and then I went and I went to show I went to show Steve and Greg a video of it on YouTube, and I looked it up on YouTube and it was so much faster. Like I was like, it didn't run like that on this thing. No, because people are running that on their PCs, that like seven hundred fps. I guess probably, eh, yeah, that's true, that's true. But yeah, it didn't run that fast. But I mean, it was fine, but it was fun. Actually, it was actually super fun. I don't love the D pads and the buttons are a bit mushy, and he sometimes said they don't really work. That it was thirty five dollars Canadian. It's impressive. Actually, that's like thousands and thousands and thousands and thousands of games on it, like thousands and thousands. Just like I'm scrolling through, it's like, oh yeah, ANYS games, seven thousand ny S games. I was like, what could I even have that many? Any S games? Like what? I didn't even know there was that many, but like four. When Christmas rolls around for these gifts exchanges, go to Timo. There's so much shit on TV. You're just fueling the war machine. Man, what are you gonna do? You're fueling the war machine. Your life is already forfeit. You know your life is not your own. You're already dead. You know we need to ban next year fucking blankets, blankets and contutary board. Yes, and cheese boards like we dodged one cheeseboard and just got another one someone else. Like, dude, I don't need fucking cheeseboards. Like fifteen cheeseboards downstairs. I hate that, And I hate like mugs, like I don't need any more fucking mugs or glasses or sets of glasses. That's why, that's why I don't need any more blankets. It like they're so stupid. Yeah, just get the same ship every year. We should have a band list. We should new band lists all right, next year, ban list next year? The only hand crafted, only hand crafted gifts? Interesting? Imagine still to do that? I just get the AI to do it for me. This three D printing count. I buy a three D printers and just yeah, I made it myself. I made it myself craft all right. Do you want to get into game time? Sure, first game time of the year. What have you been playing. I've only been playing one game, Arc Raiders. Oh and I believe you won your bet, your arc Raiders bet. Yes, I can't remember who it was with someone, what's it Wallboro? Yeah, I believe. So we bet that our Raiders would not be the dead game and it would be Battlefield six that would be the dead game by Christmas time. That's right. I think you said two months. I think you said two months after Ark Raiders release. I said you said, after two months, pers will have more players. Than yeah Field, which was two months, which it was December twenty fifth, right, Yeah, And uh, let's see those stats. I think it's I think it's higher than it even was like back then. I think it was like four hundred and eighty thousand. The last in the last thirty days Arc Raiders peak players four hundred and fifty two thousand. It's a lot of players. Daily average in the last thirty days is two hundred and thirty eight thousand, three hundred and sixty four daily average. Okay, daily average, okay, Battlefield, it's like eighty thousand or something. Battlefield, I think Battlefield last three days peak player one hundred and ninety thousand daily average, eighty nine thousand last day boom. Arc Raiders just crushing it. Arc Raiders crushing it. It's lost ninety one percent of its players or something like that. What did I tell you? Because what did we tell you on this podcast? We aren't just pretty faces here. You know. We were right about Henry, we were right about Cyberpunk, we were right about Arc Raiders. Okay, guys, it's almost like we know what we're talking about. Yeah. Sometimes, ay, I. Have downloaded and started Following four for the fourteen hundredth time, only because I started watching the show the game. I started watching the second season or the first season. Second season, okay, I watched the first season. I downloaded and played about forty hours of followut New Vegas. Oh yeah, yeah, you played follow New Vegas. Yeah, there's so much dialogue in that game. I couldn't do it too much time. You can play Henry, Yeah, well, Henry and the graphic are good. The graphics the only reason why I play video games. Everyone knows this, But I downloaded four. It actually runs without me having to hack the game to get to run on current uh PC specs. Right, yeah, it's uh, it looks pretty good. They did. They just really released the PS five like enhanced version. I guess it's four K sixty of four. Yeah, yeah, so I downloaded that one on PC. Well, I already had it. I downloaded the update and I've been streaming it down to my TV. Looks pretty good. It's a bit sluggish, the lag. I don't know why. It's never this bad, so I probably I was probably on Wi Fi. I'm gonna assume disgusting. So one game you've only been playing our greaders. Yeah, oh, Path of Exile too, because they released the Druid class, the Lass Druid class before. No, it's new. It's fucking sweet. Drew class is sick. But you know that's still not officially released yet, right, correct, it's still an early accident. That game though, Like the leveling is so slow. It's so fucking slow, Like what are they doing? I don't get it. Like I've been playing for really, I don't know. It doesn't it didn't seem that slow. Yeah, I'm only like level twenty five and I feel like I've been playing for years, Like, oh, how did people get to maxic? We got to we got to level cap on the other on the first time I played, it took us forever compared to like Diablo four, diabl four your level hundred and like a week? What are you kidding? Maybe after they nerved it. Remember how long it took to get to level like high level and Diaple Are you kidding me? Oh yeah, no, like lately. Yeah, they must have like they nerved the XP yeo or buffed it. I guess whatever. Oh we got something in the chat here? Who's that? Calki Quitness Pubg is god it people just too scared to play it. Man, the game is like twenty five years old, bro, Like it needs it needs to be like set out to Pasture. I think it's about time try Arc Raiders. Try Arc Raiders if you haven't, Art Graders is just better PUBG. It's not a Battle Royale, but like it is kind of. It's a similar like feeling you can't be soft and in Raiders either. I mean you can because you can be friends, but like I don't. I feel like you just can't. I'm not doing it anymore. I don't I'm not I'm not being friendly anymore. You know, it has a certain battle royale because it's got a time limit, and you do get nuked, right, so instead of like, instead of like a wall coming in on you, the the extraction points vanish. So everyone's pretty much going to the extraction point to extract. So that's true. It's kind of Yeah, it's not like a gas zone, but yes, it does force you towards one an extraction point, unless you have a hatch. Key then you can bypass it. But yeah, it does. And you know that anyone left over, like at the end, yeah, is likely just camping the extract. Yes, if there's anyone left. Yeah. So today I played and I'm just going around because I have to find these candle holders. I can't fucking find them anywhere. I need to find three candle holders. So I'm running around, I'm getting low on the times going down, and I goa fine, I'll just extract. So I'm running towards one of the extraction zones is a metro entrance, and behind the metro entrance there's like a USh, yeah, buried city, And then I hear like someone jump off a roof, so I jump I get into the bush, right and I see the guy run by me, and it's one of those skins where he's got the mask gone and the goggles, so you know, he's a fucking asshole. And I was watching him and he's like kind of slowly trotting. And then someone had already been down in the metro entrance hits the train button, so the bells and the whistles are going off, saying okay, the train's coming, and you should have seen this guy. He immediately bolted towards the train because he knew he could get a nice kill down there, right like rat that guy before he goes to the train. I was like, fuck, he's gonna go kill that guy that just press that button. So then I so he goes down the Metro A yeah, I think I'm gonna start doing it. I'm gonna change change your tag to batman, and you're just like saving. No sewer rat New York City sewer rat who eats other rats. Okay, so he goes down. I'm so I slowly, I'm like creeping down because it's really loud if you go down the Metro entrance running like yeah yeah. So I'm like slowly going down. I'm like, I'm probably gonna miss this guy. So I'm going down and I hear the gunshots going like there's a battle going. It's like fux. So they start running down there, and I'm like sliding down the stairs. I'm making all this noise. And I get down there and I see the dead body like the son of the bitch, and he's still here. I know he's still here. So the doors of the trains are open, but it's not leaving. How did you know he was still there? Well, then the train was the train was still there right right. There was one dead body right outside, kind of like hidden behind like the billboards, because people hide behind the billboards and then they'll try to get on the train in the last second. So and then I'm like really quiet, I'm going around and I hear him like walk into the train. So I just running his train. I just got him down. Do you know? How do you know the other guy didn't win the fight? I saw his skin, he. Got the mask and everything he was in there, and I got him down and he's like crawling away from me. I'm like, you read best, ud, get the fuck out of here. And then I just fucking end his life and then I steal all this ship and then I extract did have anything good? Yeah, a bunch of shit that game needs. I need to expand my fucking storage in that game. Come on, you didn't do it. I already have max. I'm at max, and now every time I'm fighting for like an extra fifteen slots every time I go to play, Mine's not Mine's fine, Mine's I think I have tons left because I haven't really been finding shit. I've just been crafting my AMMO. It just you know, uses everything, It uses everything. So my ship goes my stash goes down. Anyway, I lose fucking guns, stash goes down. I'm not like collecting a lot of shit like I'm using guns. But I'm not like when I die, I've got so much shit that just like replenishes. I don't know replenish, it replenishes, all right. Well, yeah, I've been playing that too, But I'm not playing solos. I don't want to play by myself. I don't play in the solo. I'll just play with friends. I don't know what they're coming out with in the next update. I message, oh yeah, yeah, I don't know what it was? What the hell is that? I don't know some kind of what did you say was a uh Scanner class or something? Siren class, A Siren class a class. Are you sure it's not an NPC A new NPC like up in Esperanza, I said siren. I said Siren class that that players can play and it's like stealth stealthy and stuff like that, but for like single players, so like the solo players are going to really like it. So maybe it's like a load out class instead of free load out. It's a maybe it's another load out that you can choose. Maybe that would be cool. That might be it. But yeah, I was like, what they're introducing classes now. Might as well play a packs legends, which I have been because if no one's on, like, I'm not playing, I'm not playing a rate by myself. But I'll solo cute Apex like with a filled group, Like I'm not going to fill my group in in our graders, you know what I mean and have to talk over like pity. No, I'm not doing that. I'm not doing that. I'll just play Apex and it's just I just like it. But yeah, I've been playing. I beat two games. Oh I beat two games over the Holidays, Citizen Sleeper and Citizens Sleeper Too, both beaten excellent little games. Really good. I've said this on Discord, but yeah, man, like really good. Story writing is really good. And it's a combination of the music that's like and the ambience because you're on a space station, right, It's like some of the places are like hustling, bustling, so it has the noise in the background and has the music. The music is really somber, but while you're reading, it like changes as you go through the story, and it pairs well, like really well with the writing, and it is sick. It's just a really good little little vibe while you're reading. You get a little hint of music when you get to a certain part. And the story is super good. It's got a lot of cool characters. It's cyberpunky, you know, it's it's it's futuristic space ship like. It's almost like the Expanse too. It's kind of like you're in the asteroid Belt, Like you're you live in the asteroid Belt as a you're an artificial body of a human with an emulated mind. Your mind is emulated from your original person who is like locked away somewhere. I don't know if you're on I don't know if you're like sleeping somewhere. But you basically sell your mind to this corporation so that it can be put into a body and work for them. That's what that's what it is. Yeah, So you, I guess, get paid some form of money, some amountunt of money to sell your mind to them. They emulate your mind, put it into what's called a frame the sleeper sleep. Yeah kind of, but like digitally upload your mind or copy it. It's they say, emulate. So it's an emulation of your mind in an artificial body. So it's not actually you. It's just an emulation of your mind working for them in a in an android body. And why wouldn't you sell it? Your memories are supposed to be erased and you just work. You're in a fake body and you're working for the corporation or whatever, and they make you reliant on this drug. Of course, otherwise your body shuts down, like your fake body shuts down. So I don't know if you're in like a tube somewhere and you're actually like sleeping while your work is being done. But it's the first game is about you, like escaping, You get out of there and and you have to find a way to cut or get rid of your reliance on that drug so that you don't have to keep taking it obviously, because they're the only ones that have it. So you have to source. You have to source the drug and the black market kind of thing. That's what the first one is about. And you're it's about just escaping and going elsewhere. And the second one is you play a different sleeper and it's kind of it's a different storyline. But it's super cool. There's a lot of cool. Like you live in the asteroid belt. You're going from station like space chasing to space station scrapping, salvaging kind of thing. That's how you kind of get your money. And but you don't move your character around, No, it's it's just like a kind of top down view. You go to your different point of eyes, click around and yeah, you click around, you roll dice for checks and stuff like that. Oh, so like you have to you have to progress like a wheel. Let's say you have to progress segments on a wheel and you have to roll higher than a certain amount to to make it go sometimes negative things can happen, and when the negative things happen, it kind of fucks you over a little bit. Then you sleep, You go to bed the next day, and it's the next cycle, and every cycle kind of you start over again and you you get your dice back. You can reroll your dice, you can speck into different you can speck into different. Things like rerolling the dice. Can't be a one stuff like that. You can increase your it's not a stat it's not stats really, it's kind of like when you go onto it in the second one. Anyway, this is new from the second one. There's you go on. Contracts and you have to bring crew members with you that have certain attributes so they can roll against certain attributes for some of these problems. And if you don't have that. Problem, you don't have the attribute for that problem. You have to let your crewmate kind of do it. So you can speck into the different attributes, so it allows you to roll on more things, but one thing is always blocked out. So depending on what class you choose, you can never roll on one certain thing, so you always have to have a crewmate that has that one thing. So it's really good, really freaking good, excellent, lots of different endings too. For I think both games have a bunch of different endings. Super good, super good writing, cool music. They're not long, but it is a lot of reading. It's a lot of reading, but it's almost. Like a little novel and a little novella, you know, a little visual a visual storytelling thing. But yeah, I played that. I tried playing okay. I tried playing Disco Elysium okay, and I just I don't get it. I didn't get it. I didn't like it. I don't know, I don't know what. I don't know what's talking about, everyone's talking about. Like, it was super slow, and the dialogue was really weird, like really weird. And I got stuck at this one point and I kept dying. I kept dying this one movie character around. Yeah, you move your character around and you like inspect things and talk to people, and there's a lot of different dialogue options. And I kept dying because I sat on a chair that was too uncomfortable like me, Yeah, I told you from that, Yeah, I was basically you. But like I'm like, what the fuck is going on? I didn't know what to do, Like I kept dying over and over again until I looked it up. And I didn't know that I had to heal myself while I was sitting there on the chair like until it passed the check or whatever, like I have to constantly like heal. I'm like, I didn't even know I could fucking do that, Like how am I supposed to know that? And so you're supposed to like spam the heel button until you survive it, and then you're like, oh, and you like survived the uncomfortable chair. I was like, that is so fucking stupid. And after I passed that, I was stuck. I couldn't figure out where to go. I was like stuck in the little area and I could not figure it out. And I tried going back like three or four times, like, bro, I'm done. I can't do it. I just was not at all interested in playing any further. Thirty bucks down the drain, oh yeah. I didn't like that. But yeah, now I'm playing a ball pit, which is really cool, really cool, good time later. It's just a quick game ballpit. It's like you just fucking load it up and brick Breaker. It's like brick breaker like pong almost. Yeah, I watched the videos. But yeah, that's really good. It's good. It's super like, do you just play just it's addicting, addicting my phone addictive? Maybe? Probably maybe? Is it a mobile? What's called brick Breaker break Breaker? No, that's the Orige. That's definitely on mobile. I have played that many, many hours of brick Breaker on the toilet on my BlackBerry Pearl. It's called ball x Pit ball Pit. Nope, not a mobile. People wanted to mobile, oh, no doubt, no doubt that. And yeah, just grinding the Bazaar made the legend again for the third time. That's right, for the third time, three time legend. Wait. Wait, I have been playing a new game, oh, for mobile called Kremit's Tail, Kermit's Tail, Krummit Krumit, crumb It, Krumit's Tale, meteor Fall, Krumit's Tail. Fantastic, fantastic game. It's a card game, it's a car It's a dungeon crawler, deck builder card game. Okay, roguelike like Slay the Spire. No, it's complete, it's different, like I've never played something like this before. What made me download it and spend ten bucks on it was the ten bucks the art the animation is the guy. I'm pretty sure that does Adventure Time, right, Okay, I think this is hilarious, Like the characters are fucking hilarious, and it's just their animations is just like Adventure Time, and there's stupid mouths. Oh my god, it's so funny. Krummit, crumb, it's tail Crumble game. Yeah, it's I mean it looks just like Adventure Time. Yeah, it's fantastic, very addictive. You're you're given like a three. Now you're giving like a. Three by three, so a nine squared tile. Like play Matt, I guess the board and it's kind of like Tetris where it'll tell you what your next piece, your next card is coming down or the enemy that's coming down onto the board, and you have to play and defeat the enemies based on their location on the board and the items you have, and your items or the cards that you get will also fall on this board and you have to like spend money to pick them up, and if you pick them up certain ways, it'll do stuff or hurt surrounding enemies and YadA, YadA, YadA. So okay, so like if you kill an enemy, he the next one will drop down or the item on top of that, and then will like drop down and like you can do combos in certain way. It's really really fucking good. It's really good. Okay, cool, it's completely got me off Pokemon finally. Well that's good. Yeah, no, people should play less Pokemon, you know, yeah, yeah. For sure, this this game is sick ten I've already blown my like the ten dollars dollar dollar an hour, I've completely annihilated that so far. Very good. So if anybody's looking for like a mobile game and they don't mind spending ten bucks, this one is really good. The one I was playing before, I like this one more than the one I was playing before. Don Caster, yes, don Caster, Yeah, yeah, well that was really good. That one was really good. That was more of a like actual card game card. Okay, okay, you should play Bump It Bullpin comes to mobile. Sure, you can play it on your Legion goal dude. Yeah, but the thing with mobile. Legion mobile is I can hide my phone while I'm hanging out with Aila. I can hide my phone behind a pillow so she doesn't see my phone. But I can't do that. You're like you have your You're like her like baby books, your glasses, this stupid like book that you would never read. No, it's her baby books, baby like doctor Susie. I can't do that playing she's playing the game, because she's all around. She's getting quite aware of what I'm doing. So it's it's harder to sneak in the mobile game. I see, I see. Okay, Well all right, well you want to move on here, talk about sure? Yeah, let's talk about twenty twenty six, twenty twenty five and twenty twenty six. Oh, we're talking about both. Okay, Well, I'm gonna say what I'm gonna do our Year in review twenty twenty five, That's what I've called it. Oh did you like go through your Steam your PlayStation year and whatever? Oh on your Steam thing? Okay, so let me start. So I've beaten one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten ten games this year, one game short from last year's eleven. I'd sit, I didn't take I didn't fucking keep track. Mm hm. So you probably beat the same one as I did. Dana Jones I beat in January. Then we did Poe two, which I beat it. I did beat it, beat the story. Yes, I can income Deliverance, Kingdom Deliverance to Split Fiction, Expedition thirty three, Oblivion Remastered, Death Stranding two one for me? Oh yeah, oh you both? Yeah, Ghost of Yote and Hades two. Oh. I didn't beat Hades, so okay, so say that again. You had Split Fiction I beat I think you did. You beat Indiana Jones when it came out, so you beat it before. I think you beat that in twenty twenty four. Oh, yes, probably true. So split Fiction though, Death Stranding, yeah, Death Stranding two, yeah, Expedition thirty three. Yes, we played like all a lot of the the games on the Game of the Year. Yeah, pretty much. I beat uh. Beating Nintendo games. No, I don't think so. Uh when did you beat Wake? Did you do that this year. Or less year? Yeah? I don't know. This is a lost cause I'm not I'm gonna say about probably just as much as you because I didn't beat Hades. But I beat Man the Stranding first one, I beat Citizens Sleeper one and two. There maybe about ten or so ten or eleven. Oblivion Remastered, Like, actually playing through Oblivion was sick. And then the next night when you go to sleep, you'll be visited. By interesting shadow guy. So the quest to get rid of it's not that bad. It took me like an hour or so, a couple of hours. Well, there's two different quests to get rid of it. Oh, there's a one that's really stupid and long. But I think maybe that they added did they maybe add one for the to make I did the one where you have to go to talk to the witch and you get a bunch of items for her to Yeah, because I think Pam was looking it up and she I think this one question that she said, this sounds so stupid, Like I don't have to do all this shit and you have to find like this like a bunch of grand soul gems and something and like fill them all up. And yeah, yeah, yeah that was the one I did. You could buy Oh, I thought there's another one. You can go. You go to each town and just buy a grand told Jim, and you just fucking do it.
