Bring Back Game Demos

Hello everybody, and welcome to another episode of the Older Trolders to Older Trolders, Elder Shoulders Boulder Holders, the Elder Trolls gaming podcast. If you are new enjoining us today, we are two brothers to get together and talk about games. May I also talk tech, TV, movies and other nerdy geeky stuff too. First time nasty night and. I am taking easy, John No, and I am exhausted. Same look at my eyeballs. Oh yeah, you look at the horrible. Yeah, you look horrible. Need to put little face mask on, you know, like cucumbers some uh, some tazeki you know. Is that what they do? And I think maybe not, but maybe yes, and. Then I eat it. I don't. I had some Greek the other night. It took okay, okay, who uses door Dash not me? Okay, Like Amazon primes like, oh, enjoy your door dash pass or door pass or dash pass whatever. I'm like, oh that must be pretty good, zero delivery fee. Right, So I'm like cool. So I download door Dash and I've been like using door Dash and I'm like keeps saying DoorDash sucks? Just use Uber eats because they give better deals, right, Yes, I'm like but they can't be that like zero delivery fee? How how like how bad it could DoorDash be. So I continued to use DoorDash last night and I ordered two euros from a place that was like five minutes away from me. So I thought they would find a driver in my area to go get me this food and bring it to me. Because I had alan, I was like juggling whole bunch of shit. I was like, I just want the food ready, Almo eat, She'll go to work, I put the baby to bed. Everything's good to go. But it took door dash. It took DoorDash so long to find a driver because obviously no one drives for DoorDash because no one uses DoorDash, right, so the only driver for DoorDash, yeah was never thought of that was in bar Haven, and he had to drive from bar Haven to my house, which is like fifteen minutes if you hit every green light, okay, to fifty minutes to my house to get or to get the food and then drive to my house. But it took him like twenty minutes to get the call. So like I ordered the food and it took like fifty minutes for these things to get to me. I was like, oh my god, fifty five zero. That's brutal. That's absolutely freaking brutal. For two euros. Yeah, come on, I'm never using so I uninstalled it, installed it. You know what, door dash, get. Your ship together, pay your drivers more or something, do something about it. I've never used it. The only time is that the one you took all the photos for. I think that was Skipped the Dishes. Oh remember that? Yeah that was sweet, Skip the dishes. Yeah, remember that. Someone hired me to skip the dishes. Hired me to take menu photos for a bunch of restaurants. And no it was it was it one restaurant. I don't know what it was. No, it was a bunch of restaurants. So they told me to just order a bunch of stuff. They'll pay for it, and I take photos of it and I can eat it. So then I invited a bunch of people over to just have a schmortgage board feet and we ate. Oh yes, it was delicious. Yeah that was good, was sweet. But you also had it your friend plate them professionally look nice, ye, which we did. Did they tell you to do that too? Like you just did that? Like you're fucking welcome, like make it look real nice on plates and like smearing the sauces and stuff. And that same friend is blowing up on Instagram right now. He's got his little food page on Instagram. He was on Canadian Master Chef I believe. I don't know if he got to the televised parts of it, but he was on it. And he actually just got featured on Drew Barrymore's talk show. She one of his Yeah, she ate one of his recipes from his Instagram and she showed like his Instagram clip and him eating it and stuff like that. Oh really, yeah, so he's uh, he's famous. Now, he's famous. I don't want to say any names. We're not plugging, no free ads unless he wants to send some some sort of that food over here. What else? What else? We were on last week's episode of Code Game, Good Game, Code Name, Code Good Game code Name, Good game Code Name, Good Game with Samurai Kigg. Great time. We talked about live service games. I'm having some hot pot dinner tomorrow. It's gonna be delicious. So you're like celebrating it. Yes, I am Chinese. Uh okay, Chinese in law. Yes, Chinese in law. I had to go by marriage. I had to go fix my father in law's bookmarks this morning, so I drove over to the bar even to fix his bookmarks because he lost all his bookmarks. Oh no. And it ended up being what crowds it ended up. Being because my sister in law created him a new new jogle, a new Google account account, new Google account, signed him in, signed him into his Google account, and then his obviously his book marks vanished because it's. A new account. So susan Chrome yep, yep, that makes sense. So I had to recover his old account, sign him in his bookmarks export them. Yeah. Yeah, Okay, it's been a morning. It's been a fri good morning anyhow. All right, well nothing here, that's it. We can google can probably get into game time and watch this. We have a transition we can do here that's like the win alf so it really whips the Lomas ass. Remember the PS two whiplash video data? Yeah, that's that was so funny PS one or whatever. Slapping him? Do you know why I threw a chair at you? Uh? It's like square triangle, like like a rhythm game. Slapping him slap? Yeah, good man, man. What haven't we been playing this week? Well? I pretty much only been playing one game, well kind of two, kinda. Did I ever play some games? Well, I guess we played a couple of demos. Obviously we're going to talk about those. But there was also a couple of demos revealed this week and released this week at the Sony the State of Play. There was two yes released which are now available, which we have not played. No, not yet. I can't. I can't keep playing demos. I gotta finish my games. You know, well, what game are you playing that you need to finish? Neo iii Ah, let me talk about that. Okay, going strong. It's such a good game. The fighting is in this game is so fluid and it feels so good, like you feel like you're part, like you're one with the controller and him. You know, it's so good. The fighting is so sick, and the combos are really cool, and it's so flashy, and you can actually reset your skill point tree, like your skilled tree like free. You don't need to worry about spending any kind of money or points and that you just go to your checkpoints and you just reset the tree. Because there's so many different weapon choices and then there's skilled trees for each weapon, so like the combination is endless of your build. So I've been flipping flopping between weapons and man, it's so good. It's so good. Nice. It's it's not the hardest souls like game I played. It's it's pretty accessible. I think, like the bosses aren't giving me much trouble as I would normally have trouble. But it also might be because the fighting is so addictive and it's so fun that getting your ass whooped and restarting the fight doesn't feel as bad because the controls and the fighting is so good. Right, So it's just like, okay, let me add it and then you just want to get into that flow again of all the combos and the and this. It's so good. You can switch between Ninja and Samurai. In the first two games it was just Samurai. You couldn't switch to Ninja before. So the Ninja is really fast and like in and out. You get in, you chuck some kuni right, or you do your combos, then you backflip out and you can vanish with a with a smoke bomb and like do backstabs and all this kind of cool crazy stuff. It's super super super fun. I think this is going to be one of my favorite games of the year. It's so good and really yes, it's just really good. It does it's not it's not visually like oh my god, but it's like it gets the job done. It's just I think where the butter and the gold is on. This is the fighting. It's just so addictive. The fighting is so good, like the mechanics of the fighting is really good. Nice but but yeah, very very very cool. Do we want to talk about the demos now or later? Well, I'll tell you what I've been playing for. I have been playing. I guess two games Divinity Original Sin Too is still playing that I actually looked up. I didn't know how long this game was. One hundred hours? No, No, it said sixty but oh, I mean, do I really want to play sixty hours of a game right now? I was like, I don't. I don't really, but it's pretty good still, so like I have like twenty four I mean, I like twenty four hours in so like I kind of stopped playing though, Yeah, I'm pretty far, so I might as well keep going. Yeah, I would keep just keep going, but maybe I think I'm just gonna put it on story mode and just go, yeah, because it's pretty hard and I don't feel like wasting a lot of time kind of getting stuck at the flights in certain long Yeah. And another thing is it's like I'm I think I'm under leveled for where I am. There's not like you can't just go grind like you know what I mean and level up your guys. Like there's no grinding in this game. You just do whatever the quests that you have, and you do get XP for like you could kill a bunch of people like as the get XP because there's like the villages of people or whatever with the guards and stuff. Guys, I could just fight them and kill them and get XP from them. But but like, yeah, I'm I'm pretty I got to this one spot and they're like level fifteen and I'm like level eleven, and I'm like, what the hell is this? What am I supposed to do? So I just put it on easy mode and when I got through it, I don't know, So I'll put playing that. And then I picked up Star sand Island. Me and Pam both picked up Star Sand Island. Cute little cozy game, and I've been just playing that for like. Well, let's talk about that because I've been playing it too. I bought it nice nice. I got it on the Chinese New Year sale. It's like thirty off. Uh, it was pretty on Steen. Yeah, yeah, I was on sale. I bought it on it was like thirty bucks or something. Yeah, thirty one dollars. Yeah, it was like originally fifty five and then it was thirty percent. So it's like, okay, I'll get it now. Yeah. Yeah, that's said. The game is still got some Chinese characters all over the place, like on street signs, road signs. Is it Chinese. Yeah, I think it's Chinese. I don't know is is it Chinese or is it Japanese. I'm from Laos, I'm lay Ocean. The ocean. What ocean? Uh? It's Chinese developed cozy life simulation RPG created by seed Sparkle Lab. Let's tell you I'm Chinese now, Okay, right, okay, I know, I know the characters. Do you the kanji h? I guess Japanese. But other than that, like, it's a bit. I like the like the guy, like the art style of the menus like that. Yeah, I like the art style of the game itself. It's kind of like anime but video gamey. It's kind of got that style that's been going around lately. But they do a pretty good job in the one. And it runs great, actually runs fantastically. I can run. I've been playing on my Legion Go with some AMDI frame generation on it. Really Yeah, well this is the perfect game for frame generation. But yeah, I've been hacking wait that when I can. Usually it's in the mornings. What I'm just got, I mean it's around the living room. It's a good. Yeah, it's a good mix of different cozy games. I feel like I was. You got the kind of Stardoo Valley dungeon kind of mine aspect. You have the farming, obviously, you can do animals, just you can do crafting. The way that it sets you up is each kind of thing is a different spec or a different skill tree. Yeah you will, so you can kind of choose what you want to do, and I'm sure you can just do everything eventually. If you just do it makes the most money here, because i haven't been making money much money. I've been making tons of money. You just do the quests. You just do the board I gotta build. I'm gonna build a board on my property. So yeah, that's what I did. Yeah, so you do that and you pick them up every morning there's the new ones, and they give you pretty good gold. Doing the doing the apprentice ship stuff gives you pretty good gold. And then what you can do is just sell the junk that you that's from another another like profession that you're not going to do, Like I sell everything everything having to do with like farming and animals and seed and all that check because I'm not farming, I'm not doing animals. I'm doing crafting and exploration. So you can basically everything you from fishing. There's five specs. I think fishing, ranching, crafting, exploration, and uh, the fishing is sweet. The fishing is really nice. I like how they did that one. So it's like when you toss your well you can. You don't put the bait on your rod. You toss the bait into the water and then like all these fishill show up like their shadows, and then you throw your you cast into the into the pool. Whenever there's a bunch of fish there, and whenever nibbles on your line, your line changes different color based on how strong the fish is. So like you have to like time your reels based on the color of your of your fishing line. It's really cool. Yeah, and then like you have to let go when it's red, and then you got to reel in when it's green, and you gotta let go when it's orange or red. You got and you gotta play like that very cool. So I think I'm gonna go with fishing. I'm gonna get a big super yacht. Yes you can get a yacht, So I'm gonna do that. I gonna try to that's my end game and I'm gonna live on the ocean. Well you can buy it early. You can probably buy it right now. Well maybe not, you need ten thousand gold or whatever. Because at the very beginning of the game, you get a coup on for a homestead. This show boat, though it showed like an out like a wilderness house, which I selected, and then there was then there was like the should be a boat. No, there was a wilderness house. There was like a like a new age yeah, super nice, and then some fence. No, there's like a brick classic looks like a big Victorian. It was like a brick house. Yea. Yeah, there's the rustic kind of house, and then there's the modern one. I chose the modern one because it's kind of like beachy, and I set it up on my property. It takes up like a whole block of oh man, so you can't have anything on there, so you just put it down. And I had my little shit shack that you start with next to it, and I was like, oh, I'm better tear this down. So you tear down the old house and then you live in the in the new which has a cool like it's got a balcony, it's got furniture and size. That's pretty cool. But yeah, I set up my whole crafting thing like right next to it, so I'm doing crafting and exploration, which is like going into the dungeon and doing fighting the monsters and collecting things. I'm wondering if the fishing is like legendary fish, catch legendary fish, like sail out onto the ocean and catch some fish. I'm hoping. I'm hoping, But so far it's pretty good. It reminds me a lot of the Chinese mobile game Heartopia, which I was playing. It's quite similar, very so very similar. The the UI is the exact same, the exact same, The fishing is the exact same, Like the town is kind of even similar. It's very very similar to Heartopia. So I was like, oh, did they just make a mobile version of this game? But it's a completely different developer. Yeah, the graphics are better than Hartopia. Also, oh yeah, heart Toopia is mobile, but it's pretty good for mobile. It's on Steam Artopia, Oh yeah. Reviews mixed reviews. What does Star sand Island have now on. I think it's very positive, but obviously Artopia is filled with mobile garbage. Yeah, very positive nine on Steam for Star Sand Island what did it get get an open critic score? Damn, I didn't even I didn't even check. No score yet. Eight three reviews eight out of ten each, so it's out of eighty right now. Star sank reviews. Star sant Island was made for cozy gamers who want something familiar but softer, more modern, and more romanticized. The characters lead into a gentle shoot Joe anime manga style, while the world it self focuses on atmosphere. Star sand Island is escapism in the quietest sense, whispering as the tide rolls in and the sun sets overhead. Wow, there got list of that. The Wow it's cool because I like the first thing I liked when when I played the demo. I played the demo and they give you a skateboard. You can ride a skateboard around the town, do kickflips and shit, and you can do gaps and stuff. I'm like, oh, do the big gap like and there's no fall damage, so you could freak and fly off like the mountain. Then you'd be fine. So just like kicking clip off huge he. Trying to grind rails. I was trying to kick flip. Yeah, you can't no, you can't grind reil sweet. It is sweet though, But like there's a bunch of different vehicles you can get. You can rent to scooters, motorcycles, talking up the motorcycle chick. Yeah, yeah, there's eight what did I say yesterday? Eight? Romancible seven remancable No eight. I think there is romancible girls and there's a few not as many boys. But I'm wondering how in depth that is because I'm not very It's hard to get them, hard to get them up. You have to really find what they like, and you got to do their quest I think is yeah, you got to do their quest. If they have quests, if they if they have stuff on the on the quest board, you've got to choose those because you'll get like kind of affection points with them. But at least it actually tells you the affection points in if you go to the social menu, it will literally tell you how many points to the next level, how many points you have with them, which is cool. I wonder if there's going to be events like in Harvest Moon back to Nature. You remember that when you get a little you get a little event. Because I haven't seen any yet. Was there like a calendar somewhere, maybe on the calendar town board. There's a calendar that there's a. Calendar in your home and in your home. And I'm just about to do the first event, the beach the Beach event at the end of summer. I'm just about to do it. There's a little setup which is pretty cool. Actually the first event is the Beach Festival, but there's two days of setup. So there's two days of kind of going down to the beach and doing quests for the to set up the Beach festival, and then on the third days when you go there and do whatever. So I haven't done that yet. I'm just about it, but I think it's super cool. It's a super cool little cozy game. And I've just been grinded fucking crafting. I'm crafting, and the progression in the crafting is like it's like, okay, you need to build this, but to build this, you got to build this, this and this, And I'm like, okay, well, where the fuck do I get that. It's like, oh, you have to go find the blueprint. So you go by the blueprint and then you have to go find the materials somewhere. And it was just like it's like the progression is cool. It's like, Okay, I just need this and then I can go craft this. And then once you craft that, and it's like then you just this and they're like okay, okay. It just like keeps you going. But but the crafting, I reached expert crafting already, so like puts the top tier and I'm just going to figure out what else to do. You might start farming, I guess. But it's got lots of stuff to do in the game, Like there's tons of stuff, and it's really access, so it's early access, but I think the it's it's pretty much the full game though, except for the multiplayer I believe, which is coming out with the launch the console launch in the fall, so that they're launching on console and they're gonna bring the multiplayer, which I guess you can just visit your friend's island and you can do whatever together. I don't know, but yeah, pretty cool. What else. I think that's it. I think that's it for me. It's the only thing I've been playing. I've just been. Oh we jumped back into Overwatch. Oh yeah, I had a couple of matches kick Nurse, taking names. Yeah, over Watch is easy, easy game, easy game. Win every game, yeah, except for one unranked unranked games. Usually I usually win on ranked games. It's very rare that I lose unranked games. But when I go into ranked matches, I get absolutely crushed every time. Every time I don't survive more than two seconds. Like they're on me like like crazy, because I'm a healer and I'm trying to get away from them and I'm trying to do what I can, but like the teammates do nothing to support. Oh, that's just solo cuing my friends sold that's just the way she goes. It's like they they send their one DPS guy who can get behind enemy lines and just keeps harassing you until you quit. That's that's me. That's me. That's what I do. That's literally what I was doing the whole time we were playing. I would go invisible, or I would just flank around with Somber. I play Somber the Hacker Chick. I would flank around, go invisible, and then do my opening on the healer hack virus, shoot melt and then I throw my ball and I get out and I go invisible again. Then I just do that over and over again. No one does that in unranked like I can. I'm so, I'm I stay alive so long. No one touches me in unranked and it's so easy, and I was like okay. And the moment even on like the bottom tier bronze garbage ranked people, they're on me like like, it's so different from unranked play to ranked play. It's way different, like harder, it should be different. Same in Apex it's different. Well until recently they made a change that is absolutely fucking idiotic, and the entire community is is okay, get so they changed it. Also, why did they do that? Like why would they go ahead? Why would they go and do something like that? So for context, in Apex, since season twenty two, which was six seasons ago, in ranked mode only this is rank mode, they introduced a POI drop instead of the ship like in the battlebus in Fortnite that goes across the map and you jump out of it. They changed from the drop ship to every team gets a random POI that they drop at, so you're not continent sele, you don't select it. It's a random POI. You don't have to contest off drop. So there's no hot dropping like in pubs. Like in regular apex, it's a drop ship and everyone lands in the same fucking spot and you die if you don't find a gun, like you're just dead, and then the whole map is the whole fucking lobby is basically dead by the first circle. Yeah, they fucking changed it back to that for ranked mode for some reason. They say they claimed that it was due to community feedback, Like nobody wanted this, Like nobody. I don't know how they can say that the community feedback. They got this community for that, nobody wanted it, so they changed it. I tried playing a few matches. I'm like, this is so fucking stupid you, especially with solo quing you have. You're not the jump master. Like if I'm the jump master in ranked and we're doing a drop ship jump, like I'm looking where people are landing, and I want to get like a kind of uncontested spot so we can set up at least get some loot and then we move. No, they just dropped where four other teams are dropping, Like what are you doing, man, This is not increase your chances of survival, Like statistically it is not good to drop with four other fucking teams. This is ranked, you're losing points, Like why are you doing this in ranked? Why do you do that? But like since the new drop ship style, it was beautiful. You land alone, you loot up, and then you get going, and because you know where other people drop, Like there's a team here, there's a team that dropped at the show. Yeah, it shows you this POI and this POI have two teams there and they're probably gonna move into each other, so we can kind of go around this way and we can hit them from behind as they fight third part of them. That's our first fight boom. Then from there you move into the zone whatever. But everyone fucking was outrage like what are you doing? And a lot of people are saying, Oh, it's just the streamers. The streamers are just complaining blah blah. No dude, Like I'm not a fucking streamer and I hate the drop ship. I fucking hate it. I don't play pubs anymore because of that shit, Like I only I haven't played pubs in like three seas. They were saying that the streamers wanted the drop ship back because no streamers hate. The drop ship. Oh okay, because it makes ranked less competitive, dude, Like the half of the lobby is dead by the first circle closing, there's like four teams left. It's like, what the hell is this? And you don't see anybody for like forty five minutes. Yeah, and you're just like that problem with that game. It's so stupid. I got shot dead and like dropping again. So anyway, they reverted, kind of they half reverted. They're say they backpedaled and say, okay, okay, we'll bring back the drop ship or we'll bring back the POI drops, but only for uh, if this percentage of the lobby is in diamond and above. Oh, and like what are you doing? Just remoot? Why are you doing this? Wow? So now if you're like gold to platinum, you get the drop ship. But if you're diamond or a certain percentage of the lobby is diamond or above, it's the POI drop Why why? Oh? To keep those guys grinding low And then when you finally get the diamonds, you're like if I stopped playing when I go to I get to diamond anyway, Like I'm not playing past diamond as a solo cuer. It's fucking stupid, Like if I don't have a team, Like it's just torture. But like getting to Diamond wasn't bad with the drop ship method, I was like, actually pretty easy. I was like, Okay, this is pretty sweet. But now I'm not playing like I'm not even gonna play good. It's fucking dumb. Good, Like bring back the POI drops. It's more competitive, it's not I wouldn't say easier because more teams are alive as the zonees close, so it's harder to kind of play around more teams. But on the drop ship, everyone's fucking dead in the first circle. So like it's so dumb. Anyway, that's that. That is the APEX News Apex News today as all right, you want to talk about some of these demos we played, Yes, we played two demos. Let's do a transition. Demo time should be called demo days, demo days, demo days, and state of plays. That's it. That's it. Let's start with the replaced demo. Now, the replaced demo. I was looking forward to this and it was very very short demo. This is the shortest demo I think I've ever played in my entire life. Like, what are you doing? Why give this demo to us. Yeah. I was really bummed, really bummed that. Yeah, I was done, and I was like, oh, that's it, Like like what did. You show us? Like what did you show us to get us interested in the game? And I remember reading or you brought it up. It's like, oh, the people playing the demo say it's not very cyber punk or not cyber punky, like yeah, it was five minute demo. Yeah, it was like twenty minutes. This is literally a thirty minute demo. I think, uh yeah, with less than that, I think, okay, length aside, did your demo ever save your progress? No? I had to restart. I had to restart that three or four times. Even though it's a short demo, I still had to I had to restart it three four times because like, yeah, there's no saving. Yeah, the save it's blinking, it's saying save start from last checkpoint. Okay, there's a checkpoint that's like a save. So I quit because I had to go do something. Yeah, I came back and I had to retet over. I was like, but man, than the game it looks does it look so nice or what? I just love that look very This is game is going to be a very ambience. Yes, e centric, like it's about it's about the environment and the ambience because there's kind of like you're walking across these across these scenes. Right, it's a side scroller, so you're walking through these scenes where nothing nothing is actually happening, but you're walking like a few scenes just for the ambience, you know what I mean. And for like the mood, which is really cool even though nothing's happening. It it shows you something of the world that's kind of like a and there's like these little things you can pick up, these little lower tidbits that were pretty cool to kind of learn about the world. Thing in your hand. Yes, the little retro he has a little retro scanner thing that you like scroll. And the sound, very sound of the scrolling was so like satisfying. So what what what if I can get my brain on what's happening? So in AI escaped from some lab, got and it implanted itself in this dude's brain. No, so he is the creator of the AI. So him and his partner who I guess died, said his partner died. We're creating this AI and the AI through some kind of malfunction implanted itself into him and he escaped the lab, and I guess he was part of some corporation, like some big corporation or the city, the city in the city, so now you're outside of the city. The demo takes outside of the city or the beginning of the game, so we don't know the city yet. We're very slummy, very like acalyptic. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So the I mean, the environment's sick. The freaking art style sick. The lighting it's got like realistic lighting, an epixelated. Man, it is so cool. The ambience is so cool. The animations of the guys, the guy's animations are so good. Yeah. It reminds me of Spider Man. Spider Man was when he when when I was swinging, like jumping from like post to post on that building, I was like, Man, a two D, three D Spider Man game, like this would be fucking epic. Yeah, that'd be cool. It's really good animation. It makes me feel like the animator is pretty experienced. That's what it gave me the feeling of because it reminds me of the old like even really fluid, old school like Disney animations. Do you remember those, Like the animation is really good. Back in the day, those guys were really good at what they did. And I feel like the animations in this game were so fluid and it looked real like it looks real like his movements and shit, I think. It's because also a game like this year, I was running at a two hundred and forty fps on my on my new monitor, slick. Really yeah, it was so slight. Yeah, it's gonna be I think this is gonna be a really good game. It was really cool. The combat was let's. Talk about the combat please. It was so fucking slow. It's slow, but and I don't know, maybe. I'm hoping later on you upgrade your AI and your brain where you go faster, but man, that combat did not get me excited to do more combat. Maybe there's not a lot of combat maybe so they didn't kind they kind of didn't. There's no run button focus on it. Yeah, So I mean the combats, it's it's very slow. It was slow. Its like funk thunk. Yeah, but you have to like counter attack and use the gun. It could be a little cool. Finishing moves really cool, But like I just I'm just concerned that it's a bit basic, like it's very basic. It's just one button. Well, it said on it said in the demo that they gave you the weapon early. Yeah, like so allience the gun play a bit. Yeah, but if they give the weapon early, like you're not getting that weap until way later in the game, like what the what do you do? Combat going to be until that point. So it's gonna be pretty I. Think it's going to be more like sneaky Heidi kind of thing. I think once we get into the city, that's when the cyberpunk field comes in. Once we get into. Well it should be, I'm hoping. But also we could see upgrades to the combat system, so it's not just one button. This is like the begin very beginning of the game. So so we'll see. But that's the one kind of area where we will see. I hope the game does very well because I drafted it in my Fantasy Critic. But I think I have good hopes. I have good hopes. I wish the demo is a little bit longer, maybe like an hour. I don't know how long this game is going to be. Maybe maybe it's eight hour, maybe an eight hour game or something. That's why cut the demo so short, but yeah, I can see like there's gonna be cool little puzzles that the generator thing where you have to go like two D three D up the stairs around and do lille puzzles. That's gonna be pretty cool. But I'm interested, very much interested much of this March Win month in like a month. Yeah. Another thing is when you go two D three D W if you're talking like that, you're talking about that, you notice that you can't just free move. It's like you have to go to the stairs and you press up and it does a little it does a little animation of him going up the stairs that I wonder why they didn't just let you free move up the stairs. I think it's because playing that slow animation adds again to the to the mood, to the ambient, you know, to the ambiance. The ambiance. Remember whenever you're you like climb up into the attic of that warehouse and the light is coming through the window and your character's running through the room. But on the forefront of the camera is like another wall with windows, so you're kind of like looking through it all shadowed. Man. Yeah, it's cool, it's really really cool. And then part of the demo, there's a part where there's like a car crash or a train crash whatever, and the train comes flying at you, and yeah, that was sweet. Yes, I hope there's a lot of cool little like three events like that and and moments like that. Ah, I can't wait to play it. I can't wait to play it. I hope that combat is a little bit just gets a little bit better. Yeah, it gets the only kind of it's the only kind of really greape I have with it. But yeah, yep, that's great. But you're going to be fighting a lot in the fighting is like drab and slow and just one button like that's gonna slow down. It's gonna slow down the pace of an already kind of slowly like a designed for slow play game, you know what I mean? Does that make sense, So like, I'll enjoy the slow parts when they're meant to be slow, but the combat doesn't need to be that slow. Give me something more in the combat and that'll be. That, especially because the combat is like a beat him up style. Yes, it's like a beat him up side scroller kind of thing, like old school fucking like double dragon shit. Like you you have a bunch of guys who are kind of moving back and forth, and you're you can counter attack, though. I like the counter attacking, which is cool. I just sold everywhere I rolled and punch like roll, roll, punch, punch, punch, punch. So that's definite. That's slowing it even more probably, So like you should probably use the counter attacking because it lets you attack more and it's quicker because you press one button and he does the counter attack move Papa, and then you start punching it. Yeah, whereas if you're just rolling around punching, like, yeah, that's slow, that's slow. Play the game like it's supposed to. Pal. They gave me a roll button, I'm gonna roll. We're talking about. Monster Hunter Stories three, Monster h Heart Stories three by Capcom. What's the title of it? Something crazy long? Is it just Monster Heard Stories three? That's all we're calling it. That's all. That's all Monster Hunter Stories three. Twisted Reflection. Twisted Reflection. Yeah, yeah, I started this out. I didn't really know what to expect because I never played the other ones. But from the trailer it looked cool because it looks like like Breath of the Wild Tiers of the Kingdom. I think graphics, they like they took that style and they just made it a thousand times better than what Tiers of the Kingdom was supposed to be. I find like when I when I booted this demo up and we went through the intro video and all that, like the colors and the style, just how polished and like presented it was. It was exquisite. I mean, I think it looks the same. There's more colors, obviously, there's it's more colorful, there's more. It's very more vibrant, yeah, but like vibrant. Yeah. I played it also in Japanese. Don't know this Capcom English shit, I don't know no, no, no no. It makes it way better, way better Japanese. The story seems cool so far. And here's what the demo did. Also the demo, I don't think it restricts like the wntent. Yeah, it just caps you at level ten. So if you try to you can keep I think you can keep playing, but you'll just get to an area that you just can't do anything and because you're still level ten, which is what happened to me, I believe. So I played it for like four and a half hours and I got to level ten. I don't even know when I got to level ten. I didn't even realize. And I was like, you level rather quickly. Yeah, And I was like, what the hell is going on? This is really hard and I was like, oh, I'm already level ten. It says XP zero, like I'm not getting any more XP. I was like, oh, fuck, well that's probably why. But yeah, there's a lot of a lot of mechanics to kind of learn. It's very similar to the second one. So yeah, in the in the combat system is pretty complicated. I would say, a lot of a lot of uatorial stuff that pops up. It's like, okay, you got to do this. You got to to do this, And I was like, Okay, you. Got weapons, you got special abilities, you got your Dragon abilities, you got your monsterbilities, you got your Yeah, you've. Got three different weapons that you can use, and each weapon has a has. Benefit against certain monsters and their body parts. And their body parts. Yeah, so it'll tell you each if you scroll through each monster's body part, which one is vulnerable to what weapon, and you have to use that weapon. But then you have to use either a speed attack, a power attack, or a technical attack to counterattack what the monster uses because each one has a weakness. So your turns they take a while. I find the turns take a while. That's probably why they just aied the other party members because like your your turn, yeah takes a bit. Yeah, and you don't control the other party members. You just you tell them what body part two attack though. Yeah, so it'll they'll attack the same part that you're attacking. Which is weird because what if you want, what if you have a weapon or weapons that are weak or that are strong against one of the body parts, and you'll always. Have So how it works is you'll always have a set of Pierce Blunt and striking so sword hammer. Well you have whatever you equip. You could equip three slashing weapons. Yeah, but why would you do that. I'm just saying. I'm just saying it can like it's something that could happen. Yeah, but they'll always have it. And I think based on the second one, the one I played. In the second one, you can tell what the other party members are going to be focusing on, either doing damage or healing or or whatever. I think you can tell them what they like focus on. So if you're getting low on health, you don't want to waste one of your turns using a potion or something, you know. Yeah. I noticed they were throwing potions on different people and stuff like that, which is cool. Yeah, but I mean it was fun. So there's a bunch of gonna be obviously a bunch of side quests. It was it's Capcom. There's gonna be a they do that, don't they side quests? It's a side oh. Yeah, and every every time they're going to be all. Bunch of bunch side quests. This game is gonna be long, like the second one was pretty long. I didn't finish the second one because I sold my switch. It's on my switch. But I put like forty hours into the first or the second one, and I was and I wasn't anywhere close. I think I was maybe a third don I was like fraw. But there's like certain there's like dungeons you go through with your monsters. You go get eggs, rare eggs. Yea, yeah, yeah, you breathe. Traversal is cool too, very cool. Like I had a spider dude that could climb walls, and then you have the flyer guy, but they can only fly on the gusts of wind. Yeah, I think that's that might be. I think they fixed that later, Like I think you can fly around, Like what's why would you have a dragon with wings when you can only glide and hit like geysers of winds kind of I don't know, So I think later they'll like open that zone up where you can just fly everywhere, kind of like they did in World of Warcraft. I don't know, maybe, because then why would you use anything else? Why would you just not fly around? Maybe maybe they want you to kind of you, Oh, that's true. The different things. So like this guy's only gliding, you can only there's swimmers, there's gliders, there's guys who climb walls, and I think that's that's it. But I was very impressed, very looked. So it ran fantastic. I was running at like one hundred and something fps, maxed out four k. Man. It was sweet. Yeah, very good, very nice. It's going to be good. It's on sale right now in Fanatical. The only problem I've been having lately is my controller keeps shutting off and just and decincing from the Xbox for some reason. It wasn't noticeably lagged. Because the game is like a slower paced turn based RPG. They'd have some weird jittery juttering, but I alt tabbed and went back and it was gone, which was weird. So I don't know what the hell that is. But yeah, I did notice that happened a couple times where it would get kind of stuttery and like what the fuck, alt tab, all tab again and it's smooth again. Definitely skipped this on like an old game Boy color game, which I think is kind of what they were going for. It looks like it looks like Zelda. And the other demo is uh Darwin's Paradox, which is a solid Snake tribute tactical side scroller where you play as an octopus. What oh, I skipped this one too. It actually looks not bad. It looks like it could be fun. It's like this could get to hide. Yeah, you have to hide, and like if the hide and sneak around and you're an octopus, like and there's something nefarious going on this organization. Looks like you're sneaking around in your and you have to get to the bottom of it looks like, but it could be fun. It might be to two demos to check out. Mean to the hollower, I know, is pretty highly anticipated, so I think it like people were looking forward to that one. I know. I know Tony drafted it last year and it didn't end up coming out. Play the least I'll have to add to the recap freaking list, have to do recap. But yeah, that looked very good. Ghost of Yote Legends, Okay. What is this? What is it? Is this the multiplayer thing? This is the multiplayer for Ghost of Yota which they did with Ghost of Sushima. I've never heard of it. Me and Daniel played Legends for Ghost of Sushima. Really, what is it? Like? What do you do? Is it colimbed? Yeah, let's co op? Oh okay, it's co op. Like there's like a main boss, but then you have to like fight through like little villages of enemies. If I remember correctly, and you have to you have to fight them certain ways because you have to choose your legend. And then it's not like you're not playing as what's you're just you're playing as like a legend and you have to fight. It appeared to be the guys from the game, like the bad guys that you play as. Yeah, but like demonic like they're already dead kind of thing, like they're the demon versions of them. The oh do you under you? Let's see what it says here. It's not like a. Boss Rush story missions four players survival matches where players will fight against gigantic monstrous versions of the six and enemies inspired by Japanese mythology. So it's like small little story missions. I guess. Cool. Then you do co op and then you fight a big boss at the end is what you and then you get loot and you customize your your legends after that, uh and legends the progression. It saves the progression of your character. Like and I believe, so yes, I believe, so yeah, yeah, I believe. So Okay, well we can try it. I guess it's a freeze, it a free d LC or whatever. Yes, Yota is said to at least March tenth as a free update for all based game owners. March tenth, March twelfth, March thirteenth, Yeah, March big damn. Yeah, that'll be pretty cool. That's free, so why the hell not you know, some co op Samurai action. Speaking of co op, there was another game that looked interesting called four Loop. It's like a node thing you choose on, and then it's like a mission based that could be interesting for like just playing co op with people. Did say how many players? Four player co op? Yeah? Look pretty cool. Lejet packs look cool, and then you can save people who will give you certain technologies based on what they do. Yeah, stuff like that. So so it looks like the replay bill it looked really nice. The graphics look pretty cool. Yeah, another live service game probably be another forty dollars price point entry thing. I think that's their I think that's Sony's little sweet spot thing. Yeah, we'll see all these live service games. Yeah. So Rockstar wants you to buy this game twice, right, They're gonna get you to buy it on base PS five and then experience it better on PC. Charge you for the PS six upgrade, yep. And then you get the Steam Machine coming out to the Steam Machine. People are going to want to play it on the Steam Machine. I don't know how well it will run it, but they'll be able to play it. They do is they take your character or your account on GJA five online and they kind of like put a dollar amount to it in like in game currency, and they give that in game currency to you. No, that would get people too much to start with, That would just yeah, people have been playing that game for fucking ten years. But yeah, anyway, we're getting sidetracked. That's not part of the PlayStation play No, it was not how did we even get there? Pro? Yeah? So yeah. Next I was an Evil nine. Oh my god, how is that gonna run on PS five? I understand that looks incredible. Like it'll just not look as sharp, I guess. Yeah, yeah, probably it looks great, looks good. It got me pumped to not play because I with no way I could play that game. Yeah, I mean it looked like. The graphics look good. The the gunplay looks very clunky, like I don't know how like that weird over the shoulder like it didn't look it didn't look like it was very good. I don't know. So yeah, so I don't know how it feels. I assume it's going to feel the same as the remakes or whatever that they did. Yeah. Man, well I did play Resident Evil eight for two hours. Okay, which one's that? That's the Village, the Village the VR one. Oh, I can play it outside VR as well, but I haven't. I mean, it's gonna be a good it's gonna score high, it's gonna be a good game. Probably, Yeah, I won't. I won't play it. I don't care. Onyx has that one too, No, Nick has that one that was first overall, pick first overall. Pick Capcom don't delay games, So that's definitely gonna come out. It's definitely going to be high. Yeah, it'll probably get like a ninety one, ninety two maybe hopefully hopefully get what eighty one eighty? But what did a Resident Evil eight get? I think that was really high? What's eighty four? So yeah, but people liked the fourth one. I looked it up, was like, why don't they just make Max Pain one again? Right? Because where does the Max Pain remake? Yeah? Max Pain one remake. I was like, didn't Remedy make Max Pain. I looked it up. Remedy made Max. Pain then sold it to rock Star because they needed like bailout money for something or something like that, So they sold the IP the Max Pain IP two rock Star, and then a Rockstar made like Max Pain three. I think interesting not getting your Max Pain remake? Well, if it's in Rockstar Sands, probably maybe let's see I they will probably do it. I doubt it. I doubt it. Remake Yeah, what's this? What? No way? Well, Max Pain one and two remake. Remedy Entertainment will remake the iconic Max Pain and Max Pain two in development agreement with Rockstar Games. There you go, oh oh, so Remedy will be making it with just agreement from Rockstar. I guess pay them some money. I remember it's some weird Max Pain was like that weird it's that weird level where you get drugged and yeah, fuck it. Yeah, it reminded me a lot of Alan Wait to Actually that part Alam Wait two reminded me of that. But yeah, imagine Max Pain with the Alan Wake two graphics. Wow, that could be good. What else you got? We got Project Windless all right? Yeah, it's uh this chicken fucking game. Like well, I'm not sure what I was watching there, but was it a chicken or an eagle or like, it's definitely a chicken, a rooster. It's a rooster. It's a rooster, not a chicken, right, got to be a rooster. But anyway, it's just cutting down some kind of just like mob mob hole, mob hoard, mob hoarding looked okay, I'd like to try it. I would not try it. It looked cool, but not to play that Galactic racer. This looks sweet. Yes, it looks cool, but I don't I'm not playing like a pod racing game. So it's gonna be like a pod racing like a it's. Like Demolition Derbing is like an online like online racer. Yeah, like I think it's gonna be like an online Mario Kart pod racing thing. I'm not playing that. Okay. It looked cool though, I mean the graphics look cool. They were smashing into each other. I would want some kind of story though, in a Star Wars game, like I want a story any Star Wars game I'm play. They'll give you some stupid freaking Junker story. Yeah, I don't know, man, I don't know. I don't know. I'm on the fence for that one. I don't know, all right. Next, Silent Hill, yeh, look pretty cool and not not a game I play. But not a game I play. We got some max Head and there kind of looked like Alan Make two, like it would be like an alec Alan Make two kind of the never played, never played Sold Hill, So yeah, don't know. The John Wick game I was like, man, this looks crazy good like the cinema. It wasn't. It wasn't gameplay though, I know. And then it surched the game play. I was like, well, I was like, wow, like it looked just like it was a fighting game like animation. No, I think it's like a shooter. Looked like a shooter beat him up kind of thing. Mm hmm. But and that's not something I was I was really asking for John Wick. Yeah, maybe huge John Wick fans, but I don't know how it's gonna be. Yeah, if they can get like the cool animations, like how he does all his animations and stuff like fluently, I. Think they would have to make it feel really impactful, like yeah, like satisfying to beat the ship out of everybody, like really satisfying. That's that's what they have to do, I feel, But I don't. I don't like I don't know if like using guns, like using guns and shooting people, I feel it's not as satisfying as the melee. Yeah, the melee combat and finishers would be. But he shoots a lot of people. So I think he was almost that most killed in a movie. I think he almost got the the record almost from what like Rambo three or something. Yes, I think the first one is some samurai movie like Ago. Yeah, and then it's Rambo two when he's out in the jungle. Yeah, yeah, that's good. And then it's and then it's John Wick. I think most kills in a single movie. I think he kills in a video game. I think he has h. Oh fucking bullshit. Cordions with the Galaxy holds the record for the highest on screen death count. Yeah, because he blows up like planets filled with people. That doesn't really count. But what about Star Wars? Then they did that too. Yeah yeah, highest kill records, highest human driven body count. I don't know what that means, the most violent movie. Oh your highest kill count for an actor in a single film. Arnold Swarzenegger holds it for Commando in nineteen eighty five for eighty one kills. Are you sure? I don't know. No, there's no way I remember that movie though. It was pretty sweet. He throws a saw blade at a guy and it like cuts his head, like he's in the shed and he fucking goes oh chucks the saw blade. It's like, it's like, no way, that's sweet. Anyway, John looks sweet. I think he does have the most kills for a movie series. I think like a yah throughout the series character. Yeah, next is Marathon. I'm interested if this feels and shoots like Destiny to you. I think it could be really good. I just don't like the art style. I don't like it. No, I like the Neon robots or whatever, the giant Lego blocks. It literally looks like these giant Lego blocks with like the things on them, Like what the fuck is this? And everything's all pixely weird, but like not, I don't know. I don't like the art style. I don't know how it's gonna feel, but I hope it. I mean, I don't hope it does well because I counterpilars. But there's no beta coming soon. Okay, Okay. Then the shadow dropped God of War Sons of Sparta two D side scrolling like a. Kind of pixelated Passion project. Yeah. I think it's just like a Looker Nintendo game. Yeah, but a gap I think it's a gap pillar, just like here, I have some God of War because we've got nothing to show you. Okay, Well, they showed us that they're remaking the original trilogy. Yes, remaking it. Yeah, m hm, so I'm very interested in what that means. So are they gonna make it like look like the fucking new gout of war games. No, No, they're just gonna because he has. Are they remaking or remastering? They're remaking they were making They might, Yeah, but it's it was a completely different game back then. That was more like. Fighting like it was. I never played them, but from what I saw, it's completely different. Yeah. I never played, so that's why I'm interesting interested. I don't know, but that was that was pretty much for the state of play. I really enjoyed that today of play. I thought it was probably the best one I've seen that they've ever showed that where all the games looked pretty good and interesting. I only skipped two of them, the Octopus game and the in the game Boy game. The two demos, you skipped them. Yeah, I skipped them. But yeah, but I really liked it. I'd give it a high score. I'd say, a that's pretty good. Hey, I don't know if i'll score it. I'll refrain from scoring maybe like a B plus. I don't know. Okay, Okay, it was okay, I mean, but a lot of the stuff we knew was coming. It wasn't like like we've seen Marathon. We've seen like they announced like death Stranding. We know what dea Stranding is. Yeah, it's coming to PC. Okay, the Spider Man games are going to PlayStation Plus. Okay, Marathon we've seen, we know it is already. What else evil already? Exactly? There's nothing like they dropped a couple of things. But I mean, people were going nuts and I was just like, okay, guys, let's let's calm down here. Yea. But yeah, overall pretty good. Uh.
