An Episode About Nothing!

Hello everybody, and welcome to another episode of the Elder Trolls Gaming podcast. If you are new in joining us, we are two brothers who get together and talk about gaming. We may also talk tech, TV, movies, and other nerdy geeky stuff too. But first, I'm Nasty dagg and I I'm taking easy. Today. We're gonna have another chill episode for you guys today with no crazy main topic. We're just gonna take it easy, talk about some things. Hey, well, I'm good at that. Yeah, that's in my name. Actually, it's a. It's a it's like a it's like a. What's the word I'm looking for. It's it's a play on how I'm I don't usually take it easy, you know, when I'm gaming. Right, but you do take it easy. What's it called? Yeah? But what's that called? It's like I'm being, uh, facetious, facetious, fasicious? Is that it? Maybe I just learned that word. Maybe it's just sarcasm. It's just sarcastic. That's my new word for the week. Facetious, facetious, fallacious. I am that too. Flicious. Oh man, I watched the Goonies last night and there's a hilarious line that I never noticed for that. Sean Aston, the guy plays Sam Wise from Lord of the Rings. He's young, right, like twelve years old or something, and he's like, he said that philate, he said, I was, I was being philate. He said, I was. I was filating you. And he's like, and his brother's like, what But he meant to say something else, you know how he's always saying different things, and he's like, you mean this, and he's like, yeah, that's what I said. He said something that. But he said, I'm for late. He said Philip Josh Brol fucking like fifteen years old. Yeah, man, he's like sixteen. It is crazy. I watched Did it look good in the four K? Was it super grany? No, not grainny. It was good. It was nice at HDR and everything the four K. Oh really very nice. The audio the dialogue was a bit low in sometime in some parts, but it was It was good. It was fun, fun to watch, that's for sure. I just love watching those old old movies in the four K because, like back in the day, when you watch an old movie like when we were kids, maybe not for kids now because everything is remastered now. Obviously, but when we were kids, we watch an old movie on VHS. It's an old fucking tape. It's got tracking issues, it looks like shit, and they're like, man, this movie's old. I don't want to watch this, but now you can watch you can joy old movies and perfect quality crystal clear. Did they always filmed movies in thirty five million? Is that? And like you just they just that just scales for four K? How does that work? Not always? But because I thought it was for digital filming, they did, because then you had it all filmed. Yeah, like you start, they started filming digital where you can't just create a four K because it's filmed in two K or something. Because I remember when Mask of Zoro came out on UHD. That was a big deal. Why because it was like one of the first older films to get the UHD treatment, was it? Yeah? Oh and Catherine Zita Jones. So my I never saw I never saw that in four K. No, I haven't seen that a long time. I should get it. Yeah, you should get it. That's a sick movie too, Damn. That's nice. Yeah, it was fun. It was cool. Pam PAMs that she hadn't seen it, like she probably seen it once in her life. She was really so, she really she really enjoyed. It nice, and of course shout the sloth sloth whenever he's chained in the base laughing. Oh my god, man, fucking it's funny. It's a funny movie, like just the stupid shit that happens. Like like like at the very beginning the car chase scene, the police chase is going on outside and and Corey Feldman mouth he's in this kitchen like fixing his sink with his dad or whatever, and his dad's like they're watching something on TV. It's like a police chase shootout, and he's like, can you turn that shit off? Like I can't hear myself. He's like, yeah, yeah, he turns it off. But there's a real police chase going out going on outside, and he's like looks at the TV and he like bangs on it, just like stupid. I do those things like they're in the back of my mind, all these like movie like quotes and stuff, and I do them in my everyday life sometimes just for like little jokes. Yeah yeah, And like I don't know where I've gotten them from, but I'm sure they're from like old movies. Like that that's pretty and him talking to the Spanish housekeeper and he's just telling her all this bullshit. It's very funny. She's like trying to get him to translate, and he's like, okay, yeah I can, I can tell her that. And he just tells her some absolutely just bullshit stuff that he's making up, telling you like that, the drugs go here, cocaine goes here, the weed goes here. He's like, always sort the drugs. She's like, she's like, what is going on here? Fucking funny man. Last night I was cooked. Oh yeah, yeah, there was no way I was watching anything. Like. I got home. We have to stop on the ride home to Breastfeedela because she was you're lactating, yeah, just screaming her ass off. So I pulled off the side of the road. I'm gonna put the tits in her mouth, and I'm just sitting there for like twenty minutes, and then we started driving again. And then the moment I started driving again, I was just fucking zunking out. Wow. Well I was brutal. And I get home, clean up, went right to beduck ten o'clock up right, took a big old dump yeah, dump du Yeah that I wanted more, but my belly could not take it. You know, I just wanted to keep shoving. I wanted to keep shoving it in my gut, but my gut wouldn't expand anymore. It's very rich, you know. You can't have too much of it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, you know you have a. Little couple of pieces. Did you leave it all there? Yeah? You could have taken some. Yeah, it was My brain was was mush for listeners. I smoked a brisket yesterday. I took a started at one thirty am and it finished at noon the next day, and then it rested for four hours, which is key. You have to let it rest in a cooler, wrapped in a towel and for four hours, and then we cut it open and we served it at a family get together. I used towel. I used towel, just any towel, just a dirty old towel that you're not using, and uh, it will be dirty after you fucking do it. But yeah, my fourth brisket, four for four. So anyway, Meat Church, Delicious, kill Delicious, delicious, delicious. All right, let's get into uh what we're gaming? What we're playing? Oh wait, I had something I was gonna talk about last episode regarding the last episode, regarding something interesting regarding last episode. We're talking about scalpts. We're talking about bots. I was able to get chat GBT to write me some code to access the API of Best Buys website. I did it, imagine that, and I found something rather interesting. It did work, Like I got it to work for browsing and checking the status and the stock of an item. You just need to know the skew. It's just all in the U r L. However, I found that there's actually a limit to how many times you can, like how many times I could do it, like like a like a right limiting. There is a limit. Yeah, it seemed to block me for a few minutes after I did it a couple of times. So they're what does that mean? Like, what does that mean? In terms of what we were talking about. It means that either these scalper bots are quite sophisticated, which they probably are, and they use like maybe different ips or something each query or something like that. Or these guys are actually getting like legit business case access to the API, which would mean Best buy is allowing this to happen, which I don't know is the case. So, like you mean the scalpers have a business that like uh like like. They're paying access yeah, paying best Buy, they're paying just paying for access. So best By is just allowing it to happen. Yeah, because they could be like, oh, some electronic like they could be named something that's not like mister Scalper, right, mister mister Scalper's business, eBay business. It's probably like electronic uh whatever dot ltd in best byes Okay. Yeah, they're just letting it happened, or they're somehow getting around that that throttling, which is very interesting. I was also able to use a program called Selenium, which is a browser remote controlling software where you can use scripts to automate your browser to do whatever you want and you don't have to be there. I had chat GPT help me write a script that opens up my browser, goes to the switch to page on best Buy, checks to see if the ad to cart button is enabled or there or clickable. Then it returns a message saying in stock or not in stock, and that takes about eight or nine seconds to fully complete. It also sends a message to a discord channel of my choice in the script, which is pretty fucking cool. So I built a little best Buy stock checker and Discord alert bot just like that in in chat GPT. Pretty cool coding whiz now pretty cool. Wow, Yeah, a little. Bit for thought there. Just imagine how like these scalpers spend probably well what we said, like thousands thousand dollars for these bots that are like insane. Yeah, they must be like crazy sophisticated or something like for the amount that they cost and ship and that the wait list. Is and all this damn and how much websites they can do simultaneously, all that shit. That's cool, crazy, that's cool. Well, I'll be trying to get a switch to on Thursday. But okay, I was gonna I don't think it's gonna fucking I don't think I'll be able to get anything, but you know I won't be I won't be terribly upset because there's no game I really want to play other than Mario Kart, right mm hmm. But whenever like Zelda drops, like the next Zelda or an actual Mario game, that I'll probably try harder to get it, or maybe it'll be readily available when those games are dropping. Okay, So I was gonna ask you, actually I had it written down here, are you going to try to get one? Like? Just try to buy one. Are you gonna wait for your pre order? I don't have Oh you don't have a line. I thought you were like on a wait list or something. Well, they sent me an email saying what did they say? Like? Come, so you didn't get a pre order? So you going to try to browse and buy one? Correct? I think midnight openings too, midnight long best. Wait in line like a kid man, you might be able to get one. Because what I don't like is, hell, there's going to be one hundred people online and like the first five people get it, you. Know, well they should tell them that though. Yeah, well I hope so it's like anybody after anybody after this see you later. Look okay? I mean that should happen pretty early, like you can still go there and check it out and can't ask people four. Man, that's gonna be crazy. What was I gonna say? Your email you're talking about? So Nintendo emailed me seeing I'm pretty sure I passed through little test thing, so I think I might get an invite, But I don't think that happens until the fifth, like till the launch day. They're gonna send me my seventh I think I have to buy it within like twenty four hours or something once I get the link. Really something like that. We'll see. Did you hear about the guy that's this Russian guy who got one like nine days early. He's a switched to in his hands. Yeah, yeah, this Russian gamer feedor Volkov. But yeah, he managed to get his hands. Like it just like it got shipped to him randomly, that's what he said. He acquired it through a telegram chat ah, and he bought it for eight hundred dollars from someone importing early units in Dubai. Of course, yes, but like how are they getting it? Like these are obviously guys who are in the supply chain, yeah where toil money. They're just giving it to people early, but it might be a supply chain like a distributor who are giving it to other people as well. But here's the thing. Russia isn't part of Nintendo's like Nintendo's area anymore, right, they pulled out of Russia, so they're not like associated with Nintendo. Russia isn't the thing anymore. So this guy didn't have to sign an NDA or anything like that, where probably everyone else who got one early did, so they can't say anything. But this guy. Since Nintendo disconnected from Russia, you know, he's well, he's not legally, he's not legally like legally required to do that, so he can like they can do whatever they want there now. So what he did is he created a video and an unboxing and everything like early and in Russian. But he doesn't have any games or anything for it. But he shows it and he showed the menu and the screens and all that. But yeah, it's and he did it legally, like he got it through his supplier, right this I don't know it was. It sounded sketchy, becau it was like a telegram telegram, a telegram chat, I guess. But but still, if there's a guy who has a switch too early and he's distributing it through a telegram chat, like this guy must have like he must be a distributor or like a wholesaler, you know what I mean. Not if there's a telegram used a telegram they're pirates and hackers, and. Well, where does the pirates gonna get a fucking Nintendo switch? If you have money, I'm sure you can get a whole pile of them. And uh, and where's all the others? How come this only this one guy in Russia is the only one that we've heard of got one because everyone else is signing NDAs because they're official officially, like endorsed or whatever by Nintendo, and and Russia is not. But they wouldn't be using telegram officially as a. Well maybe they distributed, you know, it's because it's it's private. It's uh, they do have to sign NDA's. They want to make what. I think is the Prince of Arabia or where's this bought you buy bought about four thousand of them with his money that he just found in his back that's coffee cans in his backyard or whatever. And he just freaking ordered a bunch And then he hands the Mountain Telegram because he can. He says he bought it. This guy isn't concerned about consequences from Nintendo, noting he didn't sign an NDA and bought the console legally by Russian standards. This situation reflects the growing divide between official corporate strategies and grassroots gaming culture in region. Legal by Russian standards. Well, I mean you give me money, I give you item. That's it, that's all man. He paid for it, man, Yeah, Also, I didn't know that this, but apparently Nintendo can brick your switch to remotely according to like it's. Oh it's new new user Agreemdia. Yeah, which is fucking stupid. Like I paid seven hundred dollars for this thing. I should be able to do what I fucking want to it if I want to create my own homebrew software for my own use and they like somehow detect that and they break your device, like fuck off, Well they. Can't break it if it's not online. Right, Yeah, you would have to not connect it to the internet. I'm sure a lot of home like yeah, nah, there'll be ways around that, I'm sure. Yeah, that's not just player games offline Calda games not online ho op anyway, and there and they're online multiplayers garbage anyway. I don't know if it's We'll see if it's changed any Yeah, but well, I just really want to play Mario Kart, like I want to play I do too. I want to play my other Mario Kart that I since I gave my switch away, I haven't been able to play my Mari Kart, so I'd like to play Mario Kart again. Yeah, I wouldn't mind, that's for sure. Ayay, what what are you playing? You playing some games? Yeah, so let's get into game time. Yeah, okay. So I put it up my PlayStation. I was like, oh, you know what, I've got Hell Diverge too. I gotta jump back in because uh m QPG from Code Game. Good game. He was like, oh, anybody wants to play some Hell Divers jump back in? And I was like oh, I was like, hell and there's a new patch, new update, new, all this new stuffles. Okay, I'll try to spin it up on PS five. Can't play it because I don't have the subscription. I bought a game that I can't play because I don't have their ongoing subscription. Fuck you sons of bitches. So then that game for about an hour. So I saw it on sale for like thirty bucks on Fanatical and I was like, oh, I'll buy it on PC where I don't need a subscription to play online multiplayer. Just another thing, just another reason why PC gaming is so much better than consoles. You know, if I want to play online multiplayer, I don't have to have an ongoing subscription to do so. I mean there's still our drawbacks obviously. Fuck man, optimization, optimization. Uh, we're compiling shaders for fifteen fucking minutes while you're playing with your cross friends who are ready to go already. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yea yeah yeah. Oh for war Zone, literally every time there's an update, I have to sit there for fifteen minutes and wait for shaders to compile when they're ready to go, waiting for me, Like, dude, what the fuck? Man? Anyway, I bought it for thirty bucks, jumped in, and I was having a blast just jumping into people's games like it's hot dropping in. There's a new enemy ball to me anyway, called the Illuminati or the Illuminate, where they're like. Squid aliens typety type. Yeah yeah you can type, No, I said, a new enemy type. Oh yes, so the gut instead of the bugs and the robots. It's like these alien squids, squid alien squid faces, and they like mind control. Quiddies like on the Matrix. Yeah, and they've taken over super Earth, the cities on super Earth. They've come down to the actual planet. Oh, they're invading super Earth. Yeah yeah, so I must do my part to protect me in kind geez. It was really fun. The leveling is very slow. I don't remember it being that slow, but holy shit, it's slow. Peak. You and Eric jumped in. We were playing around. I was having some fun. I was having some fun, but you know, I can't. It's hard. It's hard because there's two right, there's two missions. There's like usually like a fifteen twenty minute mission, and then there's like a forty minute mission, and you need to finish both of those to like complete the I don't know, I guess complete the full mission to get like the bonuses, you gotta beat one and then the other and then you get the full bonus. I keep I keep going around and doing like the twenty minute missions because I usually do it when Ail is sleeping, so I like go and do the twenty minute missions before she wakes up. During the forty minute missions, it's tough. So I'm like just rushing through it beating them. But yeah, very cool. I I remember why it was so fun. It was just like so landish and the rag dolls are blowing yourself up, and she's like that it's pretty pretty fun and it's cheap. So I've now I've spent eighty dollars for this game because I bought it on PS five, which is now useless because I'm not spending a scripture subscription on PS five, Like I'm not gonna do it. I was looking at this PS five store last night, all the games on sale. There's like this is an endless yeah, endless library just like whatever everything is there. You're just scrolling down. I'm like, oh, Kingdom, Come Deliverance, the first one. Five bucks ten bucks or something. Yet like damn, that's fucking good. Yeah, Like there's just like other stuff like that that's just like, yeah, man, this is stir cheap here. It'll be greasy. If they're like you can't buy from the PS store unless you have the PlayStation Plus subscription, you think they'll do that? No, how would they? How would you do that? Like you have to have a subscription to buy games? I don't think so. Not not happening never. Sony does questionable things. But man, Hell Divers two looks so much better on PC. Oh my god, it looks like ship on PS think. Oh my god, looks so sick PC. Like the graphics aren't crazy, but it's just so clean and sharp and you know, ultra wide. Oh it's good. It's very nice. Very nice. I picked up another game, Elden Ring Night Rain. I've heard of it. It is good. It is good. It's like a it's a cool spin on Elden Ring. They turned it into like a roguelike Battle Royal cellar thing, but it's got Battle Royal elements, but it's not a Battle Royale. Mmm. But it's like your group of three versus the map and little bosses around the map. And then there are three nights to each expedition. So you start the expedition and there's three nights, so you have the three nights, so like the Ring. And I know and I oh like day and night. Yeah, day and night, three night. Three night times, three night times. So when you run around, you're looting, you're killing mobs, looting, getting finding like little nooks and crannies, opening chests. The Ring starts closing like in a Battle Royale. When it comes to the end, the ring will stop in this little like arena. It'll make like a little arena, and then a boss will pop in this little arena. Like the first ring on the map, like the air the location or is it always kind of in the same. No, I think it ends in the I think I've been to all of them, and they seem to end in a certain spot every time. Well, yeah, but there are different ones. Yes, it's not the same spot every time. Correct. Yeah, there's like five or six different spots. Yeah. Yeah. And then it gets to the end and then a boss will pop where you'll have to defeat this boss, which is hard, and then and it's just like a it's not even like the main boss, like the expedition boss. Does the ring still shrink during the boss way? No? No, no, it stops. It makes an arena like a fire walled arena, and once or if you beat this boss, the day resets, so the ring goes back to the edge of the map and then it starts closing again, like. From where you are is the same map, yeah, loaded, same map, okay, And. Then the ring goes ring goes back to the edge of the maps, right, and then you start looting and killing again, and then there's ring shrinks again and you have to fight another boss on the second night. Okay, okay, are there different maps? No, So I'll get to I'll get to that after and then you beat the second boss and then you don't have to go through it a third time. It's like, once you beat the second night boss, you go into like this magical doorway and it brings you to like the third arena, which is like the main expedition boss. So there's not a third day cycle. No, no, there's not a. Certad map boss. Yeah, it's like you go into this little room where you can upgrade your stuff, buy new weapons or items, and then you go into the third or like the Expedition boss is arena, and I believe, I believe every I don't know how often its could be. They change the Expedition boss, so I don't know that. Yeah, the main boss. So I don't know if it's gonna be like every week or two or three. But the boss is gonna change, and the expedition is gonna change. I don't know if the map is gonna change. But that's the whole thing. It's it's definitely meant to be three player co op because the guy the single player is very hard, very very hard, and you can does it scale at all or that's the problem. I think it's not properly scaling when you're solo. But not properly or not at all. Yeah, So when you get to the boss on solo. Sometimes there's two bosses, which obviously like you have to fight with three players, but like you're there solo trying to fight two bosses and you're like, this is impossible. Why would they do this two bosses? Yeah, like there'd be like a little boss and a big boss and the like they like synergize together and do things, and they have two there's two health bars, one for this guy, one for but like just killing the one is very very hard on solo, So I'm assuming it was meant for the three player, right, so they need to do some tweaking. I believe they're coming out with. Just playing like a no film mode. You say, like, don't fill my squad? Yeah, is that an option? No, it's a single players you can go to matchmaking or jump in solo. Okay, so it's definitely a broken thing. Then. Yes, it's not like you're you're playing no Phil like I would play. No No, no, no, no no. It's a single playing film. It's you select single player and you go in. Oh okay, and it's fucking hard, but it's that's weird. Yeah, So, uh, they I think they're coming out with a patch that if you're in single player mode, you can buy like over these overpowered items from like these vendors across the map to help you get through it. And I think they're giving you like a free res. So if you die, it'll like if you die at the main at the night boss, one of the night bosses, you'll you'll get a free like res or the items might do that for you that go buy these items and you'll res the night bows. Yeah, but like the it's meant for three player. But the guy who made seamless co op mod for elden Ring because elden Rings co Op was not agree he made he has already made a duo's mod. So there's only single player or three player. There's no duo and like the developers were like, ah, we overlooked that. We weren't really thinking about doing that. It's like, come on, duo's is always overlooked. Why, Like you know, no one has three friends, right, it's like one in your buddy. Yeah, like to get three people to play the same game that's paid, yes, let alone like four people like quads is even worse, like but usually three is pretty standard though, like three is like Apex is three competitive years of three. And then duo has always come after. But this guy has made a mind. He took duos completely out of Apex for like fucking six months when it was gone. Yeah, I thought that was they replaced it with something else. I forget what it was. There's some other mode. But yeah, so he made a mod that allows duos and it works. He says it works. He's like, I could keep working on it if people want it. You know, he has his own scales, like he'll do all that he did that for for the seamless co op, and so he has his own on what's it called the payment subscription thing Patreon. Yeah, he's got his Patreon. But eventually he like the brand new releases, like the new versions will go on Patreon and then he'll he'll like pass them out as they get older to the like the other modding communities. But like he's like, if people are should all keep working on it. But it wasn't like he's apparently it didn't seem like it was very hard for him to do this because it's built on the same engine as Elder Ring. So I probably just you know, top done, you know, easy peasy. Yeah, but yeah, i'd really like a duo so I don't have to matchmake with randoms. The characters are cool. There's like one, six or seven and they all have like their own little backstories of why they're there on this like island. And the more you play as one of the characters, you unlock their lore, like their history, like you you pick, you get drops that unlock their little journals and stuff that you can read. Yeah. Pretty cool. The graphics are look like elden Ring. They're pretty nice, not demanding it all. So it's nice that a new game I can play at max grafh is locked at sixty fps without any kind of upscaling. It's nice and it looks good like, it looks decent enough, you know, a bit of a love hate relationship right now with it in the community like things. Yeah, I heard it was some mixed reviews. Yeah, so it's sitting around seventy and it mixed on in Steam. Yeah. I think it was like eighty on Fantasy Critic. Yeah, but has dropped to think so far, I think it's been dropping. Oh that's that's funny because Rob Rob from Gaming Deal had it on on his draft list and it was setting set it to be released and he was like, I'm gonna take first place. Yeah, when elden Ring, this blah blah blah thing comes out, he needed like he needed to get an eighty. He needed it to get an eighty one to take first place from me, and it got like a eighty point five or something like that. So he just didn't make first place. And now it's dropping. So I'm still in first and I have two games coming out like next week. So it's sitting at a seventy seven on metacritek. So as more reviews come in, I'm assuming it's it's getting it. But it's like people some people give it eighty forty five, other people give it like fifty, like it's such a swing because they weren't really ready for it, like what it was. I don't know if they just didn't know what the hell the game was, right, But like some of the things that people don't like about it is obviously there's no ultra white support. There was no ultra white support in alden Ring, so there was there was not this Yeah, don't just get rid of this fuck. Yeah, that's what I'm thinking, man, that's what I'm thinking. I think I just get a four k fucking oled. Yeah, why no game support the ship like a forty two inch? Why do I bother anymore? Like a forty two inch? That would be fucking sick? Why do I Even the HDR works though, which is nice for an online co op game. There's no in game voice, so it's very strange when you have to fight very challenging bosses that require that require like, yeah, yeah, there's no penalties currently for people guys don't make multi Yeah, they don't. They definitely don't. They don't think of this stuff. There's no penalties for currently leaving, So people if like there's some elitists out there that will just leave if you're if you die, it's like you suck and they'll leave, right, And then you're stuck in the in the game leveled for threes and you're stuck solo, and so you have to obviously quit. You're not gonna be able to do anything. Randoms don't stick together as usual in Battle Royal's. The map seems a bit small. Like stick together on the map, you mean, yeah, those. I'll go, they'll run off octane means, yeah, there's one. There's one. He's like an archer. They'll just run off. They'll do their own thing. That's funny. The map seems a bit small, so it gets pretty repetitive, dropping in the same locations like over and over again and then fighting the same mobs when you drop you so. You drop in from a from a bus, from a. From a spectral eagle, from. The spectral of course, the spectral Eagle. Yeah, so these are this is the list of the love the hate in the community right now, why they need to do some work on it. Solo mode is pretty unbalanced, like you get to the end of one night and the boss is actually do what. Like I've mentioned before, the game is very RNG heavy on the drops. So if you're playing a certain class and you actually are able to get a boss down and you sometimes you don't get any drop for that class, right bah, it's brutal, like well, like. You jump with in with matchmaking randoms, you get to a boss, you can actually beat the boss, and then you don't get an upgrade and then you have to go to the next boss without that upgrade. Yeah, no, no, no, So people are heavily complaining about that. They said, at least one item from the boss should be something from my class, like something. Everyone should get something. Yeah, because your next night or your next day night cycle heavily relies on getting something to bring you to the next boss because it gets harder, right right, and like you're you don't get any upgrade, You're like, okay, well I'm fucked now. I got like this basics, it gets harder. How do you not get anything? Yeah? Yeah, So that's a lot of people are complaining with that. That's overall though, it's very addictive, like every roguelike that is. It's very addictive. It's fun. I'm having fun just playing solo and ranging around and killing things. How much is this game? Like fifty bucks? So it's not full price like a full priced game. It's about royal. It should be free to play. Yeah, they should have done that, made it free to play and just do cosmetics. Man imagine I would try Alright, I don't know if I'll pay fifty bucks for it, though, Well. You can get a bit buy it on Steam fifty bucks, play an hour and return it. It's not even that hard, Like, it's not even as hard as elder Ring. Like even the mobs, like the basic mob bitch mobs and elder Ring are a pain in the ass. This is pretty easy until you get to like the the night boss or the mini bosses. And I played with a group of randoms. There was us three and we went through it pretty quick. We actually stuck together, which is insane, but we actually went through it pretty quick. We were running around the map. Then there's like mini bosses that are pretty hard, but they're definitely doable, and they do agro so like if it agrows on you, then you like keep your distance, do your dodging your blocks, you know, slow it down while the other two. Yeah, while the other two just freak and smash it right, and you have skills. You have two skills dependent on the class. It's really really cool. So it wasn't it's not as hard as elder Ring. Well, I am a fan of Battle Royales. And it's it's high fantasy dark like a dark fantasy. It's really cool. I like it. I like it. There's a class for everybody. I think there's like a tank. There's an archer who really keeps his distance, with the bows and all that kind of stuff. And there's there's one guy who has like a hook shot. He can hook shot enemies close to him and then strike him down. So if there's like a group of scorpions, yeah, yeah, exactly. He can also like climb stuff with the hook shot, like castle walls, grappling hook yet very cool, very cool. There's a witch. She does like a de buff buff sort of spell as her skill, so she's mainly you're probably gonna want to use her with an actual group of people, not solo. Then there's like this eagle, like this eagle knight who's like a tank. He's got a big spear and a shield. Yeah, bird person. He's really cool. He like for his his ultimate he could like shoot him up into the air and you can hunt and then dive bomb. Oh it's really cool. Oh cool, like he flies. Yeah. And he's got another one where it's like an AOI attack where it'll do like a little mini tornado and send enemies up in the air and then they get stunned when they drop on the floor, so then you just stab up when they're on the floor. It's it's really cool. It's really good. I'm having fun with it. I've the people I've talked to in the gaming duo discord, like when they're playing with their buddies, they're loving it. So I think a lot of the hate is obviously there's some stuff too not like about it. But okay, so what about what about progression? Like what are you progressing towards? Like if you beat the third guy, like what do you get? But you get something? Yeah, you get persistent buffs or items that go back to your little base and you can select them for the next run. You also get cosmetics and like full on. That's interesting if you get buffs for beating it, like you get stronger, yeah, for beating it, so it makes it easier, yeah, next time. So after even if you lose an expedition, there's like a loot table at the end where you get these little crystals that you can slot into your run. So it's like, oh, this run, I want plus three dexterity, so you put in this little crystal this run, Oh I found a pocket watch that belongs to one of these characters, like this memento. It's called or whatever, and it has like a little bonus on it because it's more of a special unique item. You can put that in your your load out. It's like a little load out, and then you drop in with a little bit more stat boost. Nice. Yeah yeah, yeah yeah. And there's items that will add things to your inventory on drop in, so you'll have like fire potions or whatever on your drop in so you don't have to find them right away. So yeah, you get stuff for unlocking. And then there's like a store at your main hub where you can buy cosmetics and emotes and stuff like this with in game currency that drops. You don't have to buy any it like drops during your runs. Okay, so you go back and buy like nick knacks and and if yeah, stuff like that. Very cool. Hopefully me and pequ can get into a match soon together and then well we'll try it out, but I'll definitely I have already put how many hours did I put into it? Seven hours already put into it. There's a casual mode we've been playing that it's just casual. There's bots, but there's people as well. There's like twenty eight real people in every in every match. Divided by three because there's three on a team. So how many teams? How many how many teams. For teams, there's like seven real teams, depends on you're in. If you're in, I think these are trios. Yeah, there's trios as well, so we play quads or sometimes we play trios in quads. So I think there's seven teams. So there's either yeah, twenty eight people, right seven times four? No? Is that not right? Yeah, twenty eight people and the rest are just bought. So you like, you never know when you're gonna run into real people though, so you have. To you got to treat everything like real people. Yeah, but it just kind of is a casual experience until you get to the end circle. Then you know you're fighting. The last four teams are gonna be real and and that's it. So it's it's a little better because you make it to the end circle. Basically every time gives you a chance to win, because I mean, I would play the normal mode, but the guys are they don't want to do it, you know, they just they're just not They're just not They're just not that good, you know, don't tell me I said this. They don't listen to this. So it's good. But yeah, but playing Bizar a little more, they they added new stuff. They added a bunch more stuff, like they added a another character. They added a free kind of reward progression season. It's free. You don't have to buy it, so you just level up and you get the rewards, so you get the currency. See what bothered me is I had for the yearly access, I had to keep downloading the updated launcher. Did they fix that? Can you update the game through the launcher to stay updated? Yeah? It did for me anyway, launched. Every time I had to play. I want to. I wanted to go play as like, oh you need to update, click the update button, but nothing happens. I gotta reinstall the launcher. Then no, it reinstalled the launcher for me anyway, right way and downloaded whatever. But yeah, that's pretty cool. The you have to kind of grind through the progression though, to get the amount of coins or whatever to get the new character though, so it is unlockable at least free to play. And people also saw a beta download on PS five that was previously called the tech test, because right now there's only been a tech test that was released. Like, did you ask for access? Sixty, not even two K sixty. Yeah, I guess not wow, And the game's requirements on PC if you look at the PC requirements are really low. So really it's not a very demanding game Nobunaga's ambition. But yeah, I mean paying like three hundred dollars for a custom controller, I would say no, not from one of the companies, like the full custom months, because the warranties are so bad. I would say definitely not. But if you can find, like if you're on PC, it's much easier because you can get a fly digit something like this, the fly Digit apix four. I've had it for like almost a year now, and this thing is fucking sick. It's got everything, four back buttons, it's got magnetic haul sensor triggers that stop that have magnetic stops. It has adjustable stick tension, it has clicky buttons, it has controllable software, it has everything. This is everything. It was one hundred and thirty dollars ship to my door, Canadian, one hundred and thirty. Wow. And it works on PC and Switch and switch of course. And why do they do that. It's all switched. Do you think it's possible to retrain my flexes or retrain my reflexes or should I just start shifting to games that don't rely on twitch reactions? Also, are there specific tools or games to help improve these reaction times for older players? Well, there are a couple of answers to this question. I suppose I think there was tools. You're never gonna get twitch response or reflexes back. It doesn't work that. They just degrade. You're getting older, chum. You will have to adjust your play style more. I think two to kind of fit your to fit yourself better into the game, Like you don't have to chow so much, or you don't have to you know what I mean. It's you have to be ready so you don't have to react. Yes, yes, but no, you're never gonna get those back. I mean you can practice still, obviously, you can use aim trainers and stuff like that, but it's hours and it's time. The older you get, the less you're playing, you're you don't have time to play as much as these kids, which is why they're kind of that good. It's time and it's time and practice. That's all like that's what it is. How about this guy, let's uh didn't really Like. You're playing against twenty year old kids who play fucking eight hours a day. Yeah, Like you have a job, you're going to job, you're going to work all day. You play like an hour two let's say you play four hours a week, Like you're not getting reps and it's about getting reps. That's what happened to me. Like when I was kind of like yeah COVID, you know, i'd play games of yours playing games, and then when you're just like live in your life and you get to chill out and play some games for a couple hours every other night, like playing Apex Legend is just a waste of time for me because I just get dummied constantly. There's just no fun in it for me anymore. So I don't even try. I don't even try because then I'd have to I'd have to change, I'd have to change my way I play. I have to learn like all the where to go, like what to look for all this shit, Like no, I'm not doing that. I'm just not going to do it. Yeah, But that's different though, that's like game knowledge and knowing what things like. You could still have that and still be bad because you only play an hour a week. Yep, because you're not getting reps. It's about reps. It's about I have it built into my memory muscle memory. Though, Like I've played forty five hundred hours of that game, so I know I could go back after a month and be fine. I could probably go back after like six months and be fine. I've played in a month. Oh wow, I haven't been playing it because it's kind of boring to play alone. Also, they redid the matchmaking, so I'm in games with people as good as me, which I don't want to people. I don't want to play against people as good as me in pubs. In pubs, you know what I mean. That's what ranked is for. Do you understand like they have skill based matchmaking in pubs, Like, I don't want to do that. I don't want to. That's how you get I don't want to go play in a casual game. Do you want to squash bugs? Yes? In pubs? Well, I want it to be random. And if i'm but then you're by average. If I'm an above average player, maybe I'll run into someone as good as me, maybe I won't. You know, or maybe you'll be the bug and then the masters will. Sure. Whatever. If it's not mass, like, if it's not skill based matchmaking, that's fine, I don't care. But literally every game I play in pubs now ranked. Yeah, it's stupid, Like, I'll why wouldn't I just go play rank for that? Like, there should be no matchmaking at all in non ranked play in any game, in any game, hot take, prove me, what's the little sign? Like, what is the point? Why are you match making? If it's not ranked? Why are you matchmaking at all? Unless the people are like super nubes and you have like a maybe a separate game mode for them. Fine, but like once you hit a certain level or something, it's random. It should be absolutely random, and generally the general population of players are not good, so it shouldn't really matter, do you know what I mean? But now they like bell curve it so that they generally put people of the same skill whatever they use to determine your skill, they put them together, and then they kind of feel the match out with outliers outside of that, because otherwise it would take too long, you know what I mean. It's really annoying. Like, every time I load into an Apex match, there's a thing at the beginning that they added in the loading screen that says you're here skill. It says skill player distribution skill, and it's a big bell curve, and it's supposed to be the entire player base of Apex Legends is this bell curve. And it says and it says this match, Oh, always far to the right, a little block, it says, this match, and then it'll say your team a little line within that. And every time I'm fucking boing boing at the very fucking right, I'm like, man, just why I don't want to play against these people when I'm just trying to fucking fuck around and play casual, you know what I mean? So I don't want to do that. I'm not playing with teammates, I'm not playing with friends, like communicating. People don't fucking use their mics, they don't play seriously, Why am I getting put against these people who are like just as good as me or better than me? Like, I don't want to play against these people. If I wanted to play a competitive game, go play fucking ranked. I see from both both sides here, because then the nub, but then the nube comes in and he's just getting crushed all game, every game. That's why me. Well they still do though, because they bell curve it and they just toss them into those games anyway, Like it doesn't matter. I crushed nubes all the time. I see people heard like that was like what is he doing in the stub? But like it happens anyway, So what's the point. Uh So to answer your questions, no, I would say it's about the time you put in. I mean, you can try practicing, but you probably could just play the game and get reps into the actual game and get better at it. And just think about the kids these days, they're sitting three inches from their monitor there, Like you're not being those kids. That's crazy. Yeah, No, that's the these little ducking kids. Here's my here's my two cents. Just stop. Just just look into yourself, look into your you're being, and be like except, yeah, you just have to accept it, like me going ball, I have to accept that. And I shaved and I shaved my head. Yeah that's just it's just life to shave your metaphorical head. Yes, that's just life, bra, And you're gonna get older. You're gonna older where you won't even be able to play video games one day because your wrists are gonna hurt. Here's what you do. Switch to controller, use a misses.
