00:00 --> 00:10 You know, guys, I'm so tired of pushing this boulder up this hill. I couldn't even think of a one liner. So I'm just gonna abdicate to somebody else.
00:10 --> 00:48 So, Chard, this is less of a one liner, but more of a story. But the five of us sat down and thought to ourselves, can we take on these Final Fantasy six? Can we do it in supersonic two speeds, or will we fail totally, battle totally and be doomed three for the rest of eternity to spin that wheel of pain? Let's discuss that today. Cinnastar.
00:48 --> 00:49 Today.
00:49 --> 00:50 On it.
01:14 --> 01:17 I hit the text button. I'm sorry.
01:17 --> 01:19 This isn't an mp. You can't type on that.
01:20 --> 01:22 Don't press the wrong button over the intro.
01:22 --> 01:23 Can't break those.
01:23 --> 01:29 The wrong button. Well, it's almost a tech free issue stream anyway.
01:32 --> 01:34 We did battle totally way up.
01:38 --> 01:40 Well, it's a good episode. Thanks, everybody.
01:42 --> 01:44 Happy New year.
01:44 --> 01:46 Yeah, we'll call it quits now.
01:47 --> 02:09 No. So welcome to another episode of Pressby to cancel the first episode of 2024, which means it's your favorite podcast of 2024, at least until tomorrow. I'm joined by the full cast today. GP is back, baby.
02:09 --> 02:10 Baby.
02:10 --> 02:12 So, in fact, GP, how are you?
02:13 --> 02:42 I'm doing okay. I've got to take a little note here that we're acting like this is recorded in 2024. So thrilled to be here this first Friday of January, 2024 in present time, the year of our lord. Also, I want to say this. I went back and listened to the episode from the last one of the last year with me. I feel I talk way too much about myself, so I'm going to cut that back and not really focus on me so much. Love you guys.
02:45 --> 02:50 Fantastic chard, since you spoke up, how are you?
02:50 --> 03:05 I'm good, I'm good. New job is going great. I'm excited for this episode because I'm excited to announce the next set of stuff we're doing this year. So out with the old, in with the new, right. This is going to be a great time.
03:05 --> 03:09 That's right. And Wolf, how are you today?
03:10 --> 03:19 I am fantastic. I got my new wall back here. I'm setting gamer is. This is going to be a good episode. I'm ready for it.
03:19 --> 03:22 It's going to be a good year. It's going to be a strong year.
03:22 --> 03:23 That too.
03:23 --> 03:24 It's going to be a great year.
03:24 --> 03:28 And I'm worried about his microphone. But Jake, how are you today?
03:29 --> 03:33 Don't make crash for a microphone. That's an inside joke. People won't get it.
03:33 --> 03:36 Well, then let's explain it.
03:37 --> 03:43 No, I'll just say it simply. Jake made the right decision and bought a steam deck.
03:43 --> 03:48 But instead of a microphone that costs as much as the steam deck.
03:48 --> 03:49 Yes, he bought.
03:49 --> 03:51 It's a really good microphone.
03:51 --> 03:58 He's not going to live down the fact that he chose either way. He would have chose poorly by us. So we're going to rag him for either one.
03:58 --> 04:00 It's also a really good handheld.
04:00 --> 04:01 It is, yeah.
04:02 --> 04:06 In fact, we only know it's a good handheld. It was potentially a good mic. We don't have.
04:07 --> 04:09 Do you know how much Tetris you could play?
04:10 --> 04:17 A lot of Tetris. And I want to point out the steam deck has a microphone on it.
04:18 --> 04:19 You know what?
04:19 --> 04:22 I'm going to stream from the steam deck next week. That's a promise.
04:22 --> 04:24 Next week to record.
04:25 --> 04:28 Wouldn't that be a goddamn thing?
04:30 --> 04:32 I need to get a steam deck. Stream deck.
04:32 --> 04:33 Yeah.
04:33 --> 04:35 Whatever you guys are talking about, I need it.
04:35 --> 04:57 Yeah. Awesome. Okay, so if you're new to the podcast, we're doing what's called our sisyphian games. If you're not new to our podcast, you probably heard us. This is a yearly tradition. We started it two years ago. I did not finish mine two years ago. I think most of you did, though.
04:57 --> 05:02 I didn't. Okay, so mine was a technicality.
05:02 --> 05:04 You did, but you lost on a technicality.
05:04 --> 05:10 But it was the pal version, which is substantially easier than the referees.
05:10 --> 05:11 Ruined your game.
05:11 --> 05:12 Yeah.
05:14 --> 06:11 Really quick. I meant to explain. So we have what's called our Sisyphean game. A Sisyphean project, or Sisyphean thing is something that you basically attempt a lot and never complete. It's pushing the rock up the hill. It's pushing the boulder up the hill. It's Sisyphus, the whole mythology thing. So this is games that for whatever reason, whether it was hard, whether it was something that we just bounced off of, whether it was something really popular that we think everybody should play or everybody thinks everybody should play, but we haven't. And we tried. Whatever the reason, it's a game that we have played but we've never beaten. And this is our sisyphian games. This is our third year of doing it. I want to do a quick recap. So, 2023, who wants to start? Nobody speak up to.
06:11 --> 06:14 Let's throw some positive news. So one of you guys go.
06:14 --> 06:55 I'll go first because last year I failed on a technicality, but this year I played Final Fantasy VI for the Super Nintendo and I'm pretty sure I did everything there was to do in it, aside from maybe like an hour of content. I did tons of, actually. I finally beat Kefka. This is the first time I ever beat Kefka. First time I saw the ending, saw everybody's last names, which is kind of half the big reward in beating that game.
06:55 --> 07:02 What are you talking about? After Kefka wins and the world gets destroyed, there's nothing after that.
07:02 --> 07:10 Not only does he destroy the world, but he also destroys everybody's last names. Yeah, it's very melancholic, actually.
07:10 --> 07:13 He just gives everybody the same last name. Kafka.
07:13 --> 07:14 There it is. Wow.
07:14 --> 07:31 Playing through Final Fantasy six and finally finishing it. Oh, my gosh. I played through the game like two or three times before that and did not beat it for whatever reason. So I'm glad it's done. I think I had something like 63 hours on the clock at the end of it.
07:32 --> 07:32 Wow.
07:32 --> 07:33 Such a great game.
07:34 --> 07:34 Good one.
07:34 --> 07:35 Such a wonderful game.
07:35 --> 07:38 Very happy. We can't hear you went down.
07:38 --> 07:39 Good job.
07:39 --> 07:40 Good job.
07:40 --> 07:53 That's a gym. There were two people that played two of my favorite hidden gems this year in Wolf's game and game battletes. No, not battletoads.
07:53 --> 07:55 Yeah, nobody's ever played battletoads.
07:55 --> 08:12 Nobody ever played that. But no, I'm glad you guys got to enjoy it and finish them both through. I think we were on Cindestar's ass more than yours ass because you were actually completing it. Not saying you're going to wait until 1159.
08:13 --> 08:47 I technically wasn't. I didn't pick it up until June, but it took me a few weeks to work through it, but I didn't pick it up until like, June. It was after tears of the kingdom was done. So maybe July. So I dragged ass on getting started on it because of tears of the kingdom. But once I got started on it, that's all I played. And I've mentioned this before, I have an issue with finishing games. So that's how I have to play games now is I play one and work through it until it's done.
08:47 --> 08:48 Right.
08:48 --> 08:52 Werewolf, the edging champion at video games. Well done.
08:52 --> 08:53 Yes.
08:53 --> 08:56 Werewolf. You were going to ask a question. What was the question?
08:56 --> 09:07 I was actually going to ask, do we want to run through all the recaps before we reveal our games for the year or should I go ahead and reveal my game?
09:07 --> 09:09 That was going to be my plan, but I mean.
09:09 --> 09:10 Okay, let's do that.
09:10 --> 09:12 Yeah, I think that's a great idea.
09:13 --> 09:19 Okay. How would you rate six now that you've completed it.
09:24 --> 09:25 I still like four better.
09:26 --> 09:30 Wow, really?
09:31 --> 09:50 Yes. I still like four better, but six is great. If I had to rate six on a scale, I'd probably give it. We're talking the Super Nintendo version with the little bit of jank that it has and everything. Given the era, probably an 85 out of 100.
09:50 --> 09:51 Okay.
09:51 --> 09:52 Damn. All right.
09:54 --> 09:55 That's a strong entry.
09:58 --> 10:01 It's got some stuff that I damn near teared up playing it.
10:03 --> 10:18 I was really hoping if you were like, if I were to rate a game on a scale, I would have given it five chalupas, like, just some random number of things, and be like, what scale are we rating it on? I'd give it about seven out of.
10:18 --> 10:23 Eight toes, 85 shiny things out of 100.
10:24 --> 10:26 I'd give it seven burning tires.
10:27 --> 10:31 Yeah. Scale will now be anything random, that stuff.
10:31 --> 10:32 Yeah.
10:32 --> 10:38 I'm glad you guys are in charge of, like, the earthquake alert center, and you're just ranking earthquakes by chalupas for some reason.
10:44 --> 10:48 That was a 65.2 chalupa earthquake, for sure.
10:49 --> 11:36 Yeah. Okay, I want to go back real quick because it sounds like Wolf and I are the only two on the deus that understand how great four is, even compared against six. But one thing I've always wanted to say about six is the emotionality of the ending. There are few games that consistently get me to that kind of, like, emotional, choked up level as Final Fantasy six does. And so, even though I still love four more, I think six of all the final fantasies that I've beaten is probably my favorite of the endings visa vis emotionality at the end. With that regard, I would give the game complete, like, eight out of nine unpurchased microphones.
11:37 --> 11:37 Okay.
11:39 --> 11:42 But in a steam deck rating system.
11:42 --> 11:46 I was going to say it's like a 9.9 out of ten steam decks.
11:46 --> 11:50 Yeah. What's the exchange rate there of steam decks to unpurchase microphones?
11:50 --> 11:56 I swear to God, next week I'm doing this podcast on my steam deck. I'm telling you right now, I will fucking do it.
11:56 --> 12:01 I was going to say, is this canadian scale different from the american scale, though?
12:02 --> 12:10 Yes, it's a metric chalupas. Okay, the ground beef is we changed.
12:10 --> 12:12 The name of the podcast for poutines.
12:12 --> 12:17 Can we retire presbyter to cancel and just be metric chalupas?
12:18 --> 12:19 Metric chalupas.
12:19 --> 12:24 That's my new band name. The metric chalupa must be.
12:27 --> 12:34 I know when we get together, it's just inside joke. Inside joke. So I'm going to drive us forward a little bit.
12:35 --> 12:35 Good.
12:35 --> 12:40 Now that we've had a positive. Jake, you're up next.
12:42 --> 12:43 I've been dreading this week.
12:43 --> 12:44 I've been dreading this episode.
12:45 --> 12:49 It's not like you forgot your homework, man. It's all good. It's not an easy game. No.
12:49 --> 14:11 So here's the thing. So my game was balletodes. And I've talked about it before during a check in. I did not beat it the farthest I got in baltodes. And I want to say I did not wait till the end of the year to play Baltodes. I play Baltodes every single week, almost religiously. Probably more than religious because I'd never go to church. But I definitely went to the church of Baltodes. I played it at least 3 hours a week, every single week. Last year, the farthest I got was inferno, which is as far as I've ever gotten in the past as a kid too. And that was kind of disappointing to me. It took me a year to get back to where I was as a kid playing this freaking game. Baltos is an incredibly difficult game. It's not bad. I'm the first to tell you I think Baltoz is one of the best games on the NES. I just wish it had infinite continues and I wish it wasn't so bullshit hard in certain parts, but it's definitely a fantastic game. But yeah, I did not beat it. Unfortunately. There's just not much else to say. I gave it my all. I definitely wanted to beat it. I probably could if I really wanted to sit down and memorize every freaking stage. Because that's my problem, right? I got stuck on stakes for about a month or so until I actually sat down, looked at maps and memorized the routes of the snakes. And that's what every stage is, is memorization. And that part was. It felt like work to me. And that's why I didn't quite do it.
14:13 --> 14:20 Rare should definitely give people a salary who are trying to finish battle codes because it is a fucking job.
14:21 --> 15:30 Yeah. Every stage is a new experience. Every stage feels different, right? Every time I got to a new stage, I felt accomplished beating turbo tunnel. I could do that with one hand at this point. Now it's a joke. But it was such an accomplishment when I first did it. Only to get to what? The ice level? That was a major fu. Every single step of the way with the random snowballs that plunk in your ass. Yeah, fuck every ice level ever. Sister is absolutely right. Every step of that stage was a chore. But once I beat it, it was accomplished. It was great. It was fantastic. And then the next stage is just as bad, right? Every stage was such a learning experience and it became a bit much. And when I got to Inferno, I got to Inferno in November, at beginning of November. And that stage sucks. Like the opening sequence, just the enemies that can one shot you the log jumping, which is not. It's not difficult on its own, but the last half of that stage is the riding of the rocket. But before you get there, you have to jump across logs and take down a bunch of enemies. And those cost you lives. And when you have no lives, you're screwed in the last half. And that's what was happening.
15:30 --> 15:38 Every cinnamon stick, the thing looks like a cinnamon stick. It doesn't look like a log. It looks like somebody has an allergy in that goddamn place.
15:38 --> 15:41 In Canada, we call them logs. I don't know what they call them down there, but.
15:43 --> 16:45 In Washington we call them cinnamon sticks. Is a tough fucking road to hoe. And there's a spot at the very end where you have to have fucking pinpoint accuracy getting through the last speed of the gates. And it's always the second to last one. If you clip it, you're fucked. So you really do like. Inferno is one of those levels that you have to memorize and it sucks. The whole game is basically one big memorization game until you get to revolution, prince and the revolution. But it sucks because literally it took me 17 days, I don't know how long. A GP probably did it in six because he's amazing at everything he plays, but it takes a good chunk just to memorize it. And I played that game day after day after day for at least six to 8 hours on stream. The fact that you got to Inferno is still matter of fact. Man, that is a tough fucking game. It really is.
16:45 --> 16:57 And that's what I'd have to do. I'd have to play it in like six to seven, eight chunks to actually get through it. There's other stuff I want to play, especially in 2023 with all there's gate and Zelda and everything out. I mean, I just didn't have the time.
16:57 --> 17:02 So what you're saying is Inferno is your eight two?
17:03 --> 17:08 Basically, yeah. Well, because I can beat eight two. I can do eight two, no problem.
17:11 --> 17:12 We just got to go with it.
17:12 --> 17:15 Hey, listen, fuck you.
17:15 --> 17:17 Your mic sounds like shit.
17:17 --> 17:32 Send us back. I know. I'm going to go get my steam deck. You know what? It wouldn't take me nine months, ten months to get to eight two is my thing, right? It took me ten months to get to fucking Inferno. So anyway, I'm sorry, sinister. I know eight two is hard for you.
17:32 --> 17:34 That sure is a nice looking microphone you got there.
17:34 --> 17:35 Hello.
17:35 --> 17:39 Yeah, isn't it great? Clear as hell, too. It's got RGB, too.
17:42 --> 17:44 He gets great service on that thing.
17:44 --> 17:47 It's great. Well, I got cheese.
17:48 --> 17:54 You have a penance for not completing your game. Do you want to do that now or do you want to do that after our recap?
17:54 --> 17:57 No, you explain what the penance is and then. Yeah.
17:57 --> 18:04 All right, so we actually started this at the end of our first year. We're like, we should have.
18:04 --> 18:08 I feel like maybe all the positive people should go first. And then we penance.
18:09 --> 18:15 Let's wait until everybody gets through their game of the year so we can roll everybody's wheel at the same time.
18:15 --> 18:19 Oh, yeah, okay, sure.
18:19 --> 18:20 Okay, we'll wait.
18:20 --> 18:24 All right, this is what you get for not turning on your homework.
18:24 --> 18:27 So, GP, what did you play?
18:27 --> 18:28 This battle codes.
18:29 --> 18:36 All right, so I started the episode by saying that I didn't want to talk too much about myself. So you guys go on.
18:36 --> 18:37 Wow.
18:40 --> 19:07 Okay, let me jump in here. Let's preface this. Some of you may remember that last year, there's a weird circumstance that GP put himself in here last year. He picked his game before we recorded the episode, and then he changed it for the episode. But he's had a very busy year, and so one of those he completed and the other he would just did not have time to.
19:07 --> 19:13 He wouldn't have had time. I give him the first choice anyway. Absolutely.
19:13 --> 19:20 Kind of you guys. Well, then what I'll do is I'll roll over the uncompleted game, which. Okay, let's do the whole thing.
19:20 --> 19:21 We'll get there.
19:21 --> 19:24 No, we're going to clean slate it. Don't worry about it.
19:24 --> 19:25 We're wiping that one.
19:25 --> 19:25 Okay.
19:25 --> 19:27 You had a very busy year, dude.
19:28 --> 19:28 All right.
19:28 --> 19:35 So that said, based on the change that werewolf just talked about GP, what did you play?
19:35 --> 19:46 Sonic the hedgehog two for the Nintendo Entertainment or this sega that took you, what, 910 months? So, you know I beat it. Because I know you just beat it.
19:46 --> 19:48 So soon you've forgotten about it.
19:48 --> 20:30 No. Okay. I was taking some college courses during the first half of the year, and so I would listen to lectures while playing Sonic two. To kind of get through that and keep one portion of my. This is one thing that I do, is I always try to find a task that's repetitive so that I can focus on the thing that I'm learning and that helps engage my brain. That's just how I'm wired. So while I'm listening to these lectures, I'm playing through Sonic two. And I realize at some point I juxtaposed the two things. And now I'm aware that I'm listening to a lecture, but I'm focusing on Sonic two.
20:30 --> 20:31 Oh, no.
20:33 --> 21:15 Long story short, I got through the semester, but I also, yes, did get through Sonic two, I think it was. When did we do that? Probably late March, early April, by the time I got done with it. And that's no codes or cheats or skips or anything like that. Just 100% of that did. The chaos gyms got supersonic, which is so fucking cool, and got it done somewhat early, and then was fully aware that I only had eight months to do the second game, which I know you guys said you're giving me the clean slate, but I will say this. The other game, the alternate, was Final Fantasy X, but it was like the Penance run, right?
21:15 --> 21:15 Right.
21:15 --> 21:16 Which is insane.
21:16 --> 21:21 And to be honest with you, that whole thing was a joke. I had never intended to make you.
21:21 --> 22:20 Do any of that, which is exactly why I wanted to do it. But I'll say this, it was late September, early October. We had just moved from our old place to the place we're in now. And I sat down and I thought, I'm not doing schoolwork right now. I've got some time. So I fired up the PS five because I own the discs for Final Fantasy ten. But that's not the penance run, that's apparently the remaster. And so anyway, I get on to my PlayStation five and I fire this thing up. I'm like, I'm fucking jazzed for this. I got two whole months and my subscription had laughed. And we'll just say I didn't renew it. So, not that that probably would have been enough time to get through that two months. I think I was being a bit overzealous, kind of, but I appreciate you guys understanding. Sonic two was a blast. I see why everybody loves it. I had tried to casually play it before, but never really got into it. I liked listening to the soundtrack more than I ever, really ever cared playing the game.
22:20 --> 22:20 Oh, man.
22:21 --> 22:24 And I tell you though, Sonic two. Yeah, brings the goods.
22:24 --> 22:27 It was really legit. Yeah, funny two.
22:27 --> 22:48 Soundtrack is a banger. We were talking about it jokingly about recording stuff on tape. Like at the beginning of this podcast, my friend and I, growing up, we would record all the levels that we like, soundtrack onto tape when we were playing it, and we'd hold the stereo up to the speaker of our CRT, and we'd record the song. That's how much we fucking loved it.
22:50 --> 22:51 Mystic Cave.
22:52 --> 23:04 I have very few notes about the game, except for the worst part of that whole game is right after you beat the casino stage, because that's so fucking fun. And then you realize.
23:07 --> 23:11 Yeah, then you realize, well, you still got a whole.
23:11 --> 23:12 Bunch of games left to play.
23:12 --> 23:28 I have an alternate take on that. The worst part of that game is when you're the first time you get Sonic supersonic, and you're in Mystic Cave because you cannot supersonic through Mystic Cave zone.
23:31 --> 23:35 And the oil stage. There's so many ways to die.
23:35 --> 23:39 Oil Field Zone is sick. That's one of my favorite tunes.
23:40 --> 23:52 Yeah, it's a great game. Like I said, not really a lot of notes on that one, but, yeah. Glad we got that one done. And in pretty quick measure, I would say three months in.
23:52 --> 24:19 Yeah, I will say it's impressive. You also got all the emeralds, and you beat the game fully. Fully. You basically 100% did it, which is good. I've never gotten all the emeralds in Sonic two. I find that bonus stage girl pain in the butt. I think the hardest part for me in that game is the end or just before the end. Robotnik is okay, but you have to fight metal Sonic just before, and you get no rings. You don't get no rings. They give you nothing, bitch. And that took me a while to figure out when I was younger.
24:19 --> 24:48 And this would help you with battle toads, but when you frame it mentally, there's a reason they're not giving you rings for this fight. So there's got to be some sort of gimmick, or there's got to be something that's going to make the frames line up and make sense. So I'll say it that way. Whenever you're at a hard part in a game, just understand there's a reason they designed it this way, and you just got to find what it is, and it lines up everything, all the tumblers. And the game becomes much easier that way.
24:48 --> 25:14 He just did a war metal Sonic or robosonic or whatever they called him in that one, because it was not megasonic. He's got a pretty easy pattern, so the trick is just not getting hit, which it sounds hard the first few times you try it. But once you recognize the pattern, that's the easiest boss in the game.
25:14 --> 25:15 Werewolf.
25:15 --> 25:17 No, he's saying get good.
25:23 --> 25:36 No, seriously, it's an easy fight. Do you know how many times I would put in the code and go to the last stage and just do that and then try to fight Robotnik afterward? That's an easy fight. It really is.
25:36 --> 25:38 It's not an easy fight.
25:40 --> 25:42 So suck at anybody that thinks it's hard.
25:43 --> 25:44 Wow.
25:44 --> 25:51 Yeah, no shit. To elite still doesn't have very good. The lore is still not as good as an elden ring.
25:51 --> 25:52 Just fy it's better.
25:54 --> 26:13 Sonic two is probably the one Sonic game that I would say I mastered as a kid because that one I was actually able to get all the emeralds before you even get to the first boss. And I will say those bonus stages are a pain in the ass.
26:13 --> 26:23 So that's a pipe. When me and sick Jake did the game show a couple of months ago.
26:23 --> 26:26 Oh, arcade pit. The.
26:26 --> 26:32 I had to do that half pipe thing and I kicked its ass. Yeah, I'm glad you did.
26:32 --> 26:33 Not me, because I'm terrible.
26:33 --> 27:07 I was able to consistently, every time I would fire that up, have all the emeralds before the end of the first zone. So that way for the boss, I was already supersonic. You supersonic through most of the game and then you hit a couple of choke points with like Mystic Cave. And I don't think you could do too much supersonic on Air Fortress either or wing Fortress or whatever they call it. But aside from that, it makes the game super easy. That's probably my favorite Sonic game. I will say Sonic three has the slightly better soundtrack, but Sonic two is a better playthrough.
27:07 --> 27:09 Yeah, it's great.
27:09 --> 27:10 Nice.
27:11 --> 27:13 What did you rate Sonic two?
27:14 --> 27:16 I gave it two out of two sonics.
27:17 --> 27:19 Okay, that's fair.
27:19 --> 27:20 Good choice. Yeah.
27:21 --> 27:23 How is that in metric though?
27:23 --> 27:28 You're asking about the tails scale. That was a 3.6 out of four.
27:30 --> 27:31 We don't have tails in Canada.
27:32 --> 27:34 We have far mascots per hour.
27:35 --> 27:36 Oh my God.
27:36 --> 27:40 What's the beaver's name? There's a beaver in weasel.
27:40 --> 27:41 His name is.
27:42 --> 27:44 Oh, of course it is.
27:44 --> 27:48 No, there's a beaver now. There's a beaver in Sonic Mania. Sonic Mania. Got a dlc there.
27:48 --> 27:51 They had characters.
27:51 --> 27:52 Maybe it was a Canadian.
27:53 --> 27:54 Maybe it's in French. I don't know.
27:54 --> 28:01 Name is story. The beaver that's going to bug me now.
28:01 --> 28:03 I have to look that I'm going to check my mind pals in that.
28:05 --> 28:11 While you're looking that up to move us along chart, talk about your sisyphian game.
28:12 --> 28:12 Jesus God.
28:12 --> 28:13 2023.
28:13 --> 29:31 So I almost didn't finish mine. I almost said, give me the wheel of pain because I fired up doom three, first person shooter. I played the original setup, and I think my biggest issue, and I guess it's a technicality, but the BFG actually has full screen while the original does not. And it looks like shit. It's not even like, the flashlight thing was bullshit. All that was bullshit. And I was like, no, I'm going to throw this to the wayside. And everybody's like, just do the fucking BFG. Just do the BFG. So I said, fine. And I did it and I beat it. I finished it up in there. But one of my biggest issues was that I couldn't get it on my goddamn monitor to fit. Like, I couldn't see it. So it was, like, impossible to do literally anything in it. And I was so irritated with the way it looked and how it played that I wanted nothing to do with it. So I shelved it. But the rest of the team came at me and was like, just play the BFG. So I did, and we finished it up. And I beat the giant skeleton rocket launcher boss at the very end. I fucking give that game. On my rating scale, I'd give it three out of six spin a stars.
29:33 --> 29:35 It's all right DJ spin.
29:35 --> 29:56 DJ Spin a star. Yeah, I give it three out of six. DJ spin a stars, it's all right. I'm glad I beat it, finally. And it's cool. But my life is no different than had. I never played it before. So it's not like Citastar or werewolf where they're like, this might have changed my life a little bit. This didn't do it.
29:56 --> 30:02 Wait a minute. I heard that playing doom three helped you get your house. I heard that.
30:03 --> 30:40 I did get my house while we were playing Doom three. So that all happened at the same time. Yeah. My wife called me when the realtor said we bought the house while I was playing Doom three on stream. So that was fun. There was a good things happened last year while I was playing it, but while I was playing it, good things were not happening, if that makes sense. You know what I mean? Like, shit around the world that I could have experienced was great going on. But during the game, not so much. Not so much. It's an all right game. It's okay. But I'm glad I finished it.
30:40 --> 31:03 Conversations that shard and I had at 03:00 a.m. Where I had to find a way, via Marco Polo, to comfort him and embrace him with my words because I could not physically be there. I think as our relationship goes chard that we really experienced that more intimate next level that we were trying to get to. Thanks to Doom three.
31:04 --> 31:17 If I had to thank Doom three for anything, it is the bonding experience I had specifically with GPR. That is true. I could thank Doom for that. There was that.
31:18 --> 31:23 But where that couldn't get us, doom three definitely did.
31:27 --> 31:45 Aside from the verbal cuddling that happened, I know that you moved on from that game originally because it terrified you now in a 2023 world. Yeah, post visage, post Madison, post.
31:50 --> 32:52 There was some good moments, but when you play devour in VR, there's not much in life that could scare you at this point. Or doing visage for a special somebody's birthday for the second time. It didn't have the scare factor back then. It did because the graphics were better then in 2003. That was amazing. They looked fantastic now. Everybody looked like deadpan Dwayne Johnson's and I was just kind of tired of looking at everybody's deadpan faces. I just wanted to get through it to get it done so I didn't have to spin the wheel. Doom three is a good game. Wouldn't totally recommend it. If you do play it, I would absolutely advise playing the BFG version. Don't try and be a commando and play the first version because they didn't think about anything or the technology wasn't there. I don't know. Like sinister always said, flashlight technology was not available, didn't exist in space, on Mars.
32:53 --> 33:01 Carmack didn't know they lost that technology. They had to find it. Archaeologists dug it up back on earth at some point after Doom three.
33:02 --> 33:03 After the War of the Magi.
33:03 --> 33:05 Yeah, exactly.
33:06 --> 33:07 The May guy.
33:08 --> 33:12 May guy, the magus.
33:13 --> 33:15 We'll get to that in just a moment.
33:16 --> 33:34 I didn't have any revelations or any epiphanies playing it like I did with battletoads or any of the games that I busted my ass to get through. It's a good game. I'm glad it's done, but I'm more excited for what I'm going to do this year than I definitely was last year. So that's all I have to say.
33:34 --> 33:57 I do want to thank Doom three for existing so that we ended up getting the doom movie, which don't think I'm saying the doom movie is good. It's good from a standpoint of, well, I love Carl Urban, but that movie, the best thing about it is laughing at the first person mode.
33:57 --> 33:58 That's the best part.
34:02 --> 34:07 This is not high quality movie by any sense of win.
34:08 --> 34:09 They definitely entertain.
34:10 --> 34:18 I make this specification every time I tell people I love Howard the duck. The movie. It's not a good movie. It's an enjoyable movie.
34:18 --> 34:18 Right.
34:19 --> 34:22 Separation between what qualifies as one or the other.
34:22 --> 34:29 Right. It's like watching Street Fighter, the movie. No, the movie.
34:29 --> 34:30 Still haven't done that.
34:32 --> 34:38 And realizing that they were on so much coke when they were making that.
34:38 --> 34:41 Movie, wouldn't you be coke and chemo?
34:42 --> 34:49 Yeah, but realizing that if you play it as a parody, it's a great movie.
34:49 --> 34:49 Yeah.
34:51 --> 35:07 Guys, so many things. I have quite. Okay, I want to say this Ralph Julia who played Mbison while everybody's coked out of their minds, he's like, I'm going to do this in an attempt to get an Oscar because he's too good.
35:08 --> 35:16 It's two movies. It's two movies. It's Raul Julia. Just epically rocking that, putting on a fucking show.
35:16 --> 35:17 Absolutely.
35:17 --> 35:23 This is the highest quality caliber leather costume. And then everyone else.
35:24 --> 35:27 Yeah, for everyone else, it was just a Tuesday.
35:30 --> 35:36 Nicely done. They got the guy. The guy that was the american guy was the guy from Belgium.
35:37 --> 35:37 Right.
35:37 --> 35:39 How fucking random is that?
35:39 --> 36:05 Yeah. Had the american flag tattoo. Yeah, but he loves waffles. Okay. All right, well, to finish us off on our Sisypheans for 2023, we did an episode on mine, so I'm not going to go into too much detail. If you want to follow up on what I give this. Seven currics out of six. Chrono trigger.
36:07 --> 36:11 Katie Curry, you pick. Tim and Katie.
36:16 --> 36:19 And in metric, it's twelve. Oprah's out of ten.
36:21 --> 36:23 We don't have her up here.
36:24 --> 36:25 Not yet.
36:25 --> 36:28 We outlawed bees. We don't have that up. She's not up here.
36:29 --> 37:01 No. I played Chrono trigger. I know everybody's like, you never played Chrono trigger? I bounced off of that fucking fair at the beginning so many times. I pulled it up just to do a quick recap. 29 hours and change. And it was an epic game. As I said in the other episode, I'm hard pressed to decide if earthbound or Chrono Trigger is the better super Nintendo rpg.
37:01 --> 37:03 Oh, actually, I know the answer to that one.
37:03 --> 37:04 Yeah.
37:04 --> 37:05 Chrono fantasy six.
37:05 --> 37:09 Chrono trigger. Let me go ahead and put your mind to rest there, buddy.
37:10 --> 37:10 I don't know, man.
37:10 --> 37:18 We did a whole episode on this. Didn't we talk about the best rpgs? And I don't even think Earthbound was even in their top ten. I'm sorry I wasn't there for that one.
37:18 --> 37:19 I couldn't have been sinister.
37:19 --> 37:28 I don't know if anybody else is noticing this, but because he's a social drinker, Sinistar is apparently just going to town on a mug full of nyquil.
37:29 --> 37:31 Look at the cup.
37:31 --> 37:36 He's not feeling real good. Come through the show.
37:36 --> 37:37 That looks like gayquil.
37:37 --> 37:40 It's coffee, my friend. It's coffee.
37:40 --> 37:43 Yeah, coffee.
37:43 --> 37:44 Coffee.
37:44 --> 37:45 Dayquill.
37:46 --> 37:50 It's cough quill clean up.
37:50 --> 37:52 Sniffling, sneezing. Anyway.
37:52 --> 38:10 Exactly. No. If you want to get my full take on Chrono Trigger, we did an entire episode. Fantastic game. Glad I played it. It changed my life. I'm now more successful in everything I do.
38:11 --> 38:14 And you healed all those people, if I remember correctly.
38:14 --> 38:21 Right. Leprosy is done. Leprosy is finished. I have fixed leprosy. I have fixed leprosy.
38:22 --> 38:23 I have fixed.
38:23 --> 38:25 Truly life changing.
38:25 --> 38:30 Like it's a fucking transmission. Don't worry, guys. I fixed leprosy. It's cool.
38:30 --> 38:36 Well, a couple of wrenches and a welder and Chrono trigger, and you're done.
38:36 --> 38:45 Look, I don't know what the stats are on leprosy at the moment, but we are pissing off some people. Leprosy. I apologize.
38:45 --> 38:47 Yes, for sure.
38:47 --> 38:50 It's okay if they're watching, they fell off. Like, at least.
38:50 --> 38:59 Wow. You know what? This has been a great episode.
38:59 --> 39:01 Well, guys, we lost the Nyquil sponsorship.
39:02 --> 39:03 We've earned the name.
39:05 --> 39:06 Jake.
39:06 --> 39:13 If you do have leprosy, I'm sorry, but I'm assuming you have a sense of humor, because what else you got? What else are you going to follow?
39:13 --> 39:16 You don't want to laugh too hard. If you have flip.
39:18 --> 39:20 Yeah, we're in trouble.
39:20 --> 39:21 Literally.
39:21 --> 39:22 Literally.
39:22 --> 39:23 Laugh your ass off.
39:23 --> 39:25 Anyway, moving on, moving on.
39:25 --> 39:45 How about that wheel pain now? No, hold on. I want to mention that because we did that Chrono trigger episode, I have been playing through Chrono trigger again. It's great. I'm about 11 hours into it right now. I've been enjoying the crap out of it. I would give it seven robos out of Rick Astley.
39:49 --> 39:50 Never going to give that up.
39:51 --> 39:54 But what about Metric? I only live in metric.
39:57 --> 39:58 We use freedom units here.
39:59 --> 40:03 No, up here we measure Michael Boublais. So how many booblaes?
40:08 --> 40:13 Metric? It's probably 19 frogs out of. Oh, my gosh.
40:16 --> 40:18 Ryan Adams on numerous occasions.
40:18 --> 40:27 They don't say like, seven out of ten. Up in the great white north, they say seven on ten. So we're already getting the whole metric conversion.
40:27 --> 40:32 No, you got it wrong. We measure things in time up here, so it's not time.
40:32 --> 40:33 Parsec.
40:34 --> 40:34 Parsec.
40:34 --> 40:40 It's time. I give Chrono, I don't know, 20 hours out of 30. It's fantastic.
40:44 --> 40:51 Says he only took 29 hours on that game, but I'm pretty sure there's some 65 million year gap in there somewhere.
40:51 --> 40:56 There might be 65 millennia or something.
40:56 --> 41:00 Time machines really help assist with how long it actually took.
41:00 --> 41:05 All right, so, wheel of pain, how many of us are spinning? Raise your hand.
41:07 --> 41:15 Fuck you. I guess just me. Fine. That's okay. Do you want to explain why we're doing the Wheel of.
41:17 --> 41:19 Not let people know?
41:21 --> 42:05 So toward the end of our first year, it's funny, we came up with this whole sisyphean concept, and then toward the end, we're like, well, some of us aren't completing our games, so what do we do? So we came up with this concept of Wheel of Pain, where we pick really bad video games, notably bad video games, and we have to either record and put them up or stream 2 hours of us playing said games. And I think I started this. Or, wolf, did you beat me to it? I may have done mine right after the episode. Like a day. You had to play Dragon's or nes.
42:05 --> 42:08 Yes. You did it before I did mine.
42:08 --> 42:15 Okay, so I had to do 2 hours of Dragonslayer NES and. Boy, that's a gem.
42:15 --> 42:18 Yeah, it certainly is. Maybe not so hidden.
42:18 --> 42:24 Yeah. And then I think, wolf, you were the only other one that did the wheel of pain that year, right?
42:24 --> 42:36 I believe so. I got stuck with Bubz 3D, which went into classic thinking. Oh, this is going to be an easy ride. Wait, no. Back in the day. Wait.
42:38 --> 42:40 I see what you did.
42:40 --> 42:42 Absolutely not.
42:45 --> 42:45 What the hell is.
42:46 --> 43:00 Yeah, so, wait, so I had to think about this, because Jake not only is the only one who did not finish his game, but he's the one who designs the wheel of pain. Jake wouldn't do that. He totally would. Legit games.
43:01 --> 43:03 These are all hard, challenging games.
43:03 --> 43:06 Okay, color a dinosaur. You know what?
43:06 --> 43:07 Get out of here.
43:07 --> 43:09 You know what here has beaten balloon fight.
43:09 --> 43:10 Rachel.
43:10 --> 43:19 You know what? I'm throwing this out here. If this is the wheel that Jake spins, it is a ten hour stream.
43:19 --> 43:21 Yeah. If you do circus, charge.
43:21 --> 43:22 Real wheel of pain right there.
43:22 --> 43:23 24 hours.
43:25 --> 43:37 For those who are listening, episode I lowered a challenging, difficult wheel of pain with warframe marble snaps. Color a dinosaur. All the difficult games of Circus Charlie.
43:38 --> 43:42 As soon as I saw Circus Charlie, I knew something was afoot.
43:43 --> 43:47 You don't like my wheel? That's fine. I'll take my wheel away. Not a problem.
43:47 --> 43:52 Get that thing out of there. There's too many feathers on your wheel, btw.
43:54 --> 43:58 All right, give us the real wheel. Give us the real.
44:00 --> 44:02 Did you break it with your fake wheel?
44:02 --> 44:04 It might have. Oh, there it is.
44:04 --> 44:07 It's the same fucking wheel.
44:07 --> 44:09 No, it's back. It's back. It's fixed.
44:11 --> 44:12 There it is.
44:13 --> 44:24 So for those listening, I've added a couple of games. I did not rig it. I'll let the record show. I added what I add. I added Batman, revenge of the Joker.
44:24 --> 44:28 Super Mario special for the PC 88 gift.
44:28 --> 44:32 There's some games I want you guys wouldn't wish on my worst enemies.
44:32 --> 44:39 Yeah, I had a fight club because I know we talked about that in the past and that's a game too, so there's some bad games in this list.
44:39 --> 44:40 You don't know where.
44:40 --> 44:43 I've been hoping more people would spin it.
44:44 --> 44:47 Yeah. Okay. Spin that wheel.
44:47 --> 44:49 All right. Spin the wheel, please.
44:49 --> 44:50 Come on, Superman.
44:51 --> 44:59 Suck you. You only got to play 2 hours. It's not like you got to beat it, Buck Bumble.
44:59 --> 44:59 Okay.
45:00 --> 45:02 It's got a killer soundtrack.
45:02 --> 45:02 That's a bad game.
45:02 --> 45:04 Know what that game looks like?
45:05 --> 45:09 You know the theme song though? Because it's got a banging theme song. But that's all.
45:09 --> 45:16 I don't know that I do. I don't think I've ever seen Buck Bumble in action. I think I've only seen the box art.
45:16 --> 45:28 Okay, load up. YouTube Buck Bumble's theme song. Do it right now. And I want you to listen to it because I'm not going to do it because I'll break the stream. For those who are listening, we'll listen to Buck Bumble's theme.
45:28 --> 45:37 It's fantastic. We got through the wheel of know they can listen to this at any point in their lives.
45:40 --> 45:44 Oh, wheel of broken Buck Bumble.
45:44 --> 45:47 How did this not make a dance mix USA album?
45:48 --> 45:50 Right? It's so good.
45:51 --> 45:53 It's not all that far. Yeah.
45:54 --> 45:56 It's from a game called Buck Bumble.
45:56 --> 45:57 Yeah.
45:57 --> 46:21 The game itself though is hot trash. The control is awful. We did an n 64 episode not too long ago and I tried to play through it and I couldn't get past the first area. So this will be fun. So I will stream or record 2 hours of me trying to get through the first level of Buck Bumble. That will be a fun time for everybody, I'm sure. Not for me, but that's okay. So hopefully next year there's some more people spinning the wheel. And it's not just me.
46:23 --> 46:26 No. Because I'm probably going to finish mine because I really like the game I picked.
46:26 --> 46:27 Yeah.
46:27 --> 46:36 How about we go in reverse order? I just realized that's going to make me first for announcements, but are you guys good with reverse order for?
46:36 --> 46:39 I mean, we're all playing the same game, so what difference we are?
46:40 --> 46:43 I'll go ahead and just announce what we're all playing.
46:43 --> 46:43 Right.
46:44 --> 47:14 Okay. So for 2024, I am going to pick a game. I've actually already been playing it. I have 22 and a half hours this last week already in said game, and I'm going to give myself a stretch goal. Now, the stretch goal is not for a wheel of pain or anything. It's for my own personal benefit. What I'm going to be playing is I'm going to be playing witcher three. And when I say I'm going to.
47:14 --> 47:20 Complete it, why you're giving yourself a stretch goal when the game is literally going to take you all year to complete.
47:20 --> 47:51 No, I'll tell you why I'm going to do the stretch goal. So my actual goal, my 2024 goal is completing the main story, completing blood and wine, completing heart of stone. So the three, I'm not going to 100%, but I have been playing a lot of side quests. And one of the greatest things about Witcher three is those side quests are not just stupid. Go collect Murlock eyes because some idiot needs Murlock. Yeah. Thank you.
47:54 --> 47:56 Looking at you, Final Fantasy 16.
47:57 --> 49:09 Yeah, I guess I'm too good at that. You are. But every side quest so far has had, even if it's a simple story, it's a compelling story in the side quests. And so my goal is complete the three, the main story, the two expansions, but play a whole bunch of the side quest, a whole bunch of the bounties, et cetera, et cetera. And then my stretch goal is a little bit because one of the things I've realized is I get really hung up on open world games. I don't complete open world games. And so my stretch goal is to pick one or two other open world games, say Cyberpunk, say Assassin's Creed, something or other, say no, say a little less, and maybe see if I can get myself over my hitch on open world games. So that's really my stretch goal. That's why I want to do more than just Witcher three.
49:09 --> 49:27 That's impressive because there is a lot of oversaturation in Witcher three that if you come out of Witcher three thinking, yeah, I want to play cyberpunk or something else that's open world to that effect. That would be an impressive leap because that is a lot to take in throughout the game, honestly.
49:27 --> 49:40 Phantom pain will be like. It'll feel like a vacation after Witcher three. How short phantom pain is compared to Witcher three? Witcher three is easily 100 hours to beat all three also. But it's fantastic journey the entire way through, though.
49:40 --> 49:45 In America, we call it Phantom Liberty, not phantom pain. That would be Metal Gear solid game.
49:45 --> 49:52 But look, I'm still hung up on the wheel of pain. You guys made me spin legitimately talking.
49:52 --> 49:55 About Phantom Pain because that's an open world game too.
49:56 --> 49:58 Go right into it. That Metal Gear five, right?
49:59 --> 50:06 Yeah, but I don't know what other open world games I'm going to pick after Witcher three.
50:07 --> 50:07 Horizon.
50:07 --> 50:12 But Horizon is on the list. Dad of war is on the list.
50:12 --> 50:12 Spiderman.
50:15 --> 50:16 I don't have Spiderman.
50:16 --> 50:26 I would argue that God of war is not necessarily what I would classify as open world. It has aspects of it, but it's still story driven.
50:27 --> 51:24 I agree. Well, either way, as I said, I have a number of the assassin's Creed games that I enjoyed playing a bunch of, and then just I fall off on open world games. And what I need to do is just realize that when I'm starting to get feeling like falling off, go back and work on the main quest. That's my real problem is I spin off into side quests and I'm like, okay, and I'm getting tired of this. I need to do what I did with Skyrim. Not exactly the same as I did with Skyrim. Skyrim. I said, I'm going to go complete the main story before anything else. And 12 hours later I'm like, that was it. And it probably was more than 12 hours, but it felt like a very short game when you just literally stay on the main quest and that's all you do. But what I need to do is I need to realize with open world games, when I start to get tired of it, I need to go back to the main quest.
51:24 --> 51:39 Yes. I actually have to agree with that. I've mentioned before how I tend to just fall off of games. That is the biggest issue is I'll get caught up doing so much side stuff that I just stop playing the game and never finish it.
51:40 --> 51:40 Yeah.
51:40 --> 51:56 And it's happened with dozens and dozens of games. For me, oblivion, that's why oblivion do the play through one game until I finish it before I can move on to another. And I started doing that just a few years back and it's been great for my completion rate.
51:57 --> 52:02 Yeah. So that said, that's what we're all playing. So good episode, guys.
52:04 --> 52:42 I'm really glad you're playing this one. It is one of my favorite games. It was in my top five games of all time. It still is, if I think about it. I'm really also glad that you're doing the DLC. As much as I love the original Witcher three story, it's one of the few games where the DLC, I feel, is kind of more into the spirit of the character and I would argue even better, I think, than the main story of Witcher three. I really like those dlcs, especially blood and wine. Blood and wine is why I say that CD product red doesn't need to make another Witcher game ever. I'm good if that's where it ends, because they ended it so well. That said, they're also making a new Witcher game at some point in the next.
52:42 --> 53:01 Well, they don't need to. I have to admit, I loved Witcher one. I never completed Witcher one. It was much more like american rpg than say, witcher three being an open world. And I'm looking forward to that remake because I never did finish Witcher one, but what I did play I liked a lot.
53:02 --> 53:03 Oh, they're doing a remake.
53:03 --> 53:04 They are.
53:06 --> 53:46 Witcher three is the only one I picked up and played, and I'd love to finish it. And Jake's been trying to goat me into trying to keep on playing. And there's an inside joke. The inside joke is that Sinistar was trying to not tell anybody what he was playing. And all of us were like, you know, we haven't played witcher three, we should finish wisher three. And Jake was like, you should play witcher three. He's like the only one that's finished it on the team. And even Wolf was like, you know, witcher three is on my list. And Citizenstar's like, I don't want to tell everybody, but everybody's picking the same. And though it doesn't matter if we all pick the same game or not, that's not the point. But the point is we all wanted to think different, right? Squad goal. Yeah, exactly.
53:47 --> 53:49 It would become a race to who finished it first. And I would just.
53:50 --> 53:56 I mean, we could do I win? That'd be a witcher three. You don't get to play. You're the referee.
53:56 --> 53:56 Yes.
53:56 --> 53:57 You're the referee.
53:58 --> 54:25 Okay. The Witcher series. It's off limits. I don't really even understand all the items going on here. My wife and I are. We're that couple where we just like to do things together. But the one thing that my wife will kick me out of the room or the house for is when she watches the witcher. I don't know what's going on. Every time I. She's playing some Tetris playing it, she's like, no, that's not for you.
54:26 --> 54:30 It's not for you. Please leave. Please leave.
54:31 --> 54:31 Yeah.
54:34 --> 54:35 Movie room.
54:37 --> 54:40 Don't worry about it, GP. There's nothing going on.
54:40 --> 54:42 I'm sure it's wonderful.
54:42 --> 54:44 Yeah, it's a great program.
54:46 --> 54:53 Okay, so that's my pick going in reverse order. Chard, I believe you're up next.
54:53 --> 55:03 I am. Somebody mentioned mine, actually. They were talking about, I think Wolf dropped it, maybe, and then my ears perked up because I was like, no, you can't pick that one. That's mine.
55:04 --> 55:06 I already have an idea. I have an idea.
55:07 --> 55:11 Most of you, you should already know, everybody should know on the team, because I thought I said it.
55:11 --> 55:14 I might, but I forgot if I did.
55:14 --> 57:03 I am also. It's all right. Nobody listens to me. I am also playing an open world game, but I am actually going to play Horizon Zero Dawn. I purchased Horizon Zero dawn many moons ago when I got my PS four. It was basically like one of the first games I bought because the idea of caveman versus machine was a really cool concept, in my opinion. And I freaking love that game. And my close friend Lord optic, who most of you know, he platinumed it on PS four. And for whatever reason, I think I was streaming it and I was still in the midst of my retro stuff. It wasn't going very well and I didn't push forward on it. Well, this year we're pushing forward on it and I'm not going to stretch goal to the extent of what sinister I was going to do. But my goal is I wanted to get the badge, I wanted to get all the achievements on it. But there's an achievement to do a new game plus complete playthrough and also beat the game at Ultra. Ultra difficulty. I ain't doing that shit. But I will get as many achievements that I can grab the steam achievements because I have it on pc to try and try and get everything that doesn't involve multiple playthroughs of the game because it is going to be a long game. So with that being said, I'm going to get every item, find everything on the map. It's going to be a long and arduous trip through the future past as we descend upon robotic machines and ais which are quickly approaching reality. We're going to play Horizon Zero dawn. And I already told my wife that forbidden west was going to be purchased at some point.
57:03 --> 57:07 I was going to say, are you going to do the DLC? And it sounds like I am going.
57:07 --> 57:35 To get to the DLC. I have the complete edition that I purchased on or was purchased for me on Steam. So we are going to do what is it, frozen wilds or something like that. I forget what, the frozen wild? Yeah, we're going to do the whole frozen wilds, right? We'll do the DLC and everything that comes with the completed edition. So I guess that would be. Yes. I will play both the one DLC and the entire game. I'm very excited about it.
57:35 --> 57:45 I look forward to you playing through this and hearing your opinion on it because Horizon Zero dawn is one of my favorite Zelda games of all time.
57:45 --> 58:09 Nice. Very nice. Actually, when the podcast is done, for those of you who are watching, I'm going to go eat dinner and then I'm going to start my sisyphean game after that tonight. So January 5, 2024 is going to be the first playthrough of Horizon Zero dawn by me.
58:09 --> 58:11 Are you starting new tonight?
58:11 --> 58:29 Absolutely. I'm starting from the very beginning. So weird. Shiny face child on pc coming at you. She's got a really big head. Really big head. I want to try and get through that area because it's very awkward to play. I'm like, child's head is huge but charred Monk, right?
58:29 --> 58:30 Yeah.
58:30 --> 58:37 Chardmunk, be on twitch. I'll be on twitch, definitely. And I'll upload. I'll upload to everybody who wants to see it on YouTube. I can upload it there.
58:37 --> 58:43 Nice. Nice. All right, good pick, GP. I think you are next in the order.
58:44 --> 58:48 Yeah. So I really should stick with trying to get the penance run done.
58:50 --> 58:53 Insane. Don't do that.
58:53 --> 58:53 No.
58:53 --> 58:55 How about this? How about this?
58:55 --> 58:57 It was a joke that Charles making.
58:57 --> 58:58 Yeah.
58:58 --> 59:00 The thing is, I legitimately want to play ten.
59:02 --> 59:05 Don't do the penance run. Just do ten. Just beat ten.
59:05 --> 59:06 Can I make a suggestion?
59:06 --> 59:09 Okay. Stretch goal. Penance run. But definitely ten.
59:09 --> 59:11 What's your suggestion, Wolf? What's your.
59:11 --> 59:17 I would say you'd probably have an easier time just playing ten and then stretch goal, ten two.
59:18 --> 59:18 Okay.
59:18 --> 59:41 I mean, you could do that? Yeah. Penance is a fucking nightmare, man. And it took me three months after I beat the game to do penance. It is a trick. It is not something for the faint of heart. I know you can do it. I have no doubt in my mind that you will accomplish it, but you're also a very busy person and don't have the time that I had to invest into that.
59:41 --> 59:50 I think that's part of the reason I want to do it, is I need to do better at making time for myself and doing these kind of things. So that's part of the appeal, is forcing myself to slow down.
59:51 --> 59:56 I would go if I were you, just beat ten, and then if you feel like stretch goal in it, go for it.
59:56 --> 01:00:04 Yeah, I think that's hardline. Want to do ten stretch goals will be ten two and then penance run.
01:00:04 --> 01:00:05 We'll see.
01:00:10 --> 01:00:10 Go ahead.
01:00:11 --> 01:00:12 No, you go.
01:00:12 --> 01:00:29 I was going to say ten two plays very differently from ten. It feels more like the saga series in terms of how you level and everything like that. So it's all about what you use. So it plays very different, but it closes a number of holes that ten leaves open.
01:00:30 --> 01:00:48 Might be my sizzle game for next year. My only request is if you decide to do anything penance related, that you at least upload it to YouTube in some form. Because I want to watch. I want to see that you can do ten on the privacy of your own house. I'm totally fine with that, but I.
01:00:48 --> 01:00:50 Really record the fuck out.
01:00:50 --> 01:00:53 Do the stretch goal. I want to see anything you do. Penance run.
01:00:54 --> 01:01:05 That'd be sick bet. Let's do that. That's all I on a more personal note, if you or anyone you love is suffering from leprosy, please seek medical help.
01:01:06 --> 01:01:14 I don't want to be the only cold one here. Press B to cancel leprosy.
01:01:15 --> 01:01:18 We've just pressed v, my friends.
01:01:18 --> 01:01:23 No, I want to bring it full circle and be like, look circled.
01:01:23 --> 01:01:23 I don't know if it's still a.
01:01:23 --> 01:01:25 Thing that exists, but if it is.
01:01:25 --> 01:01:32 Somebody that sucks, it still exists somewhere. I don't know enough about it.
01:01:32 --> 01:01:33 I feel bad.
01:01:35 --> 01:01:37 That's why I wanted to bring it back up.
01:01:40 --> 01:01:42 We need awareness, but because someone feels.
01:01:42 --> 01:01:42 Bad.
01:01:46 --> 01:01:49 I feel like I need to make a donation to some.
01:01:49 --> 01:01:50 I need more coffee.
01:01:53 --> 01:01:57 I finished mine. All right, Jake.
01:01:58 --> 01:02:03 Yeah. Jake, you're next. Oh, I'm excited. Do warpless.
01:02:03 --> 01:04:00 So after battletoads for the entire goddamn year, I've thought really long and hard and I had a lot of trouble trying to figure out which game to pick for this year. So in the spirit of games, I feel I should be good at to get good at. Like many of you guys, I grew up in arcades in the, played a crap ton of fighting games in the arcades. Moral Kombat, Marvel versus Capcom, Sam show, all those games, I love them. All those games. But the one series I was never good at and I was kind of intimidated by, was Street Fighter. Street Fighter two was okay, it was fine. But Street Fighter two, Turbo and then Alpha and then three were just brick walls in terms of me touching them. So I've always struggled with Street Fighter and hell, I have enough controllers. I want to get good at a fighting game this year. So I was looking at all the games that have come out recently because if you're a fighting game fan, you're feasting. There's so many great games that have come out in this past year that are in the fighting game genre and one that's doing it remarkably well is Street Fighter six. Street Fighter Six has got a really healthy community, just came out, they got a good roadmap of updates coming and it seems to be less toxic than some other fighting games out there. So for me in 2023, I'm doing two things. One, I'm going to beat the story mode of Street Fighter Six. It has one, it's not difficult, but I want to do it because it's got a yakuza type of sense of humor to it I wasn't expecting, and I want to finish it. And then the real meat of my sisyphian goal for Streetfire Six is I want to play online and get to rank of platinum. So I looked at the stats of the player base and what people are at. Platinum is at the highest. I'm not freaking and insane, I'm 42, I'm not going to be good at fighting games, but I want to get to a level where I can say, you know what, I'm good at Street Fighter six and that is platinum to me. So that's like the third highest level. I think it's like 25% of the player base is at platinum. So that's the level I'm aspiring to. Go ahead, GP.
01:04:00 --> 01:04:15 Okay, so I'm sure that's locked in and that's the game that you're wanting to go and I hear you and you're going to be great at this. But if I can make a suggestion, if there's a fighting game that you're wanting to get good at. And you're concerned about your age. Seinfeld versus Capcom is fire.
01:04:15 --> 01:04:24 I love Seinfeld versus Capcom. Why is this guy attacking? Maybe next year.
01:04:24 --> 01:04:25 Oh, my God.
01:04:25 --> 01:04:26 What's his problem?
01:04:26 --> 01:04:30 Do I press a button or do I hold back to pause?
01:04:31 --> 01:04:32 Why is there a pause?
01:04:34 --> 01:04:36 The soup fatalities are fantastic.
01:04:39 --> 01:04:53 Jake. I think this is great. I think this is great. I hope you do record some of it, because I will. Yeah, I'm bad at fighting games. I love them, but I'm bad at them. I just bought Mortal Kombat one. I'm bad at it.
01:04:54 --> 01:05:00 I want to play it for the story, but, yeah, I'm terrible at Mortal Kombat. As much as the story recently has been great, I'm terrible at them.
01:05:00 --> 01:05:21 Yeah. So I look forward to watching you, especially with your controller setups. Because honestly, the best I ever got at Mortal Kombat was I had the original mortal Kombat for the pc and I used WASD keys with like, punch kick buttons. It was your. What? What do you have to say, chard?
01:05:21 --> 01:05:26 Are we going to witness this play through, Jake? Or are you just going to do this in the comforter of your own home?
01:05:27 --> 01:05:32 Well, do you really want to watch me play 4000 matches throughout the year?
01:05:36 --> 01:05:37 You don't have to play.
01:05:37 --> 01:05:38 I think I'll do check in.
01:05:38 --> 01:05:41 Maybe some here or theirs would be great. That'd be sick.
01:05:41 --> 01:05:43 Yeah, that's my plan to do.
01:05:43 --> 01:05:52 Okay, 500 matches and I would watch 500 more. Okay, never mind. Sorry.
01:05:52 --> 01:05:59 I mean, honestly, if there's a way to figure out if you're doing a match to go up a tier, I think that would be great to stream those.
01:05:59 --> 01:06:01 Right? That's a good idea. Yeah.
01:06:01 --> 01:06:09 So if you know that this is a tier rank or whatever, or you're close enough or something. Right? Yeah, I would love to see.
01:06:09 --> 01:06:10 Yeah, yeah. I can do.
01:06:10 --> 01:06:17 Please provide. Even if you just throw videos on YouTube, I don't give a to. I would like to go on this adventure with.
01:06:17 --> 01:06:17 That's.
01:06:17 --> 01:06:18 That's what I'd like to.
01:06:19 --> 01:06:19 Cool.
01:06:19 --> 01:06:26 Especially with, like you said, you have so many arcade sticks. That's like your thing. So now you're going to utilize.
01:06:26 --> 01:06:27 That's dope.
01:06:27 --> 01:06:29 Yeah. Fuck yeah.
01:06:30 --> 01:06:30 Awesome.
01:06:30 --> 01:06:31 Sorry.
01:06:31 --> 01:06:40 Awesome. I think it's a great goal. I love it. All right, and last but certainly not least, werewolf.
01:06:40 --> 01:06:42 Oh, well, who are we kidding? Definitely least.
01:06:42 --> 01:06:47 No, fuck that. Fuck you, dog. No, disagree.
01:06:48 --> 01:06:50 You are among the best of us.
01:06:50 --> 01:06:51 Top five.
01:06:51 --> 01:06:54 Okay, if not top five, easy.
01:06:57 --> 01:06:57 Is your game.
01:06:57 --> 01:07:00 Witcher three. Bottom five is it finally out of the bag.
01:07:00 --> 01:07:01 Yeah. Are you doing witcher three?
01:07:01 --> 01:07:06 I'm excited to hear because I know he was hung up on something, so I want to hear it.
01:07:06 --> 01:07:40 Yes. I was racking my brain as to what to go with because I had intended to play Final Fantasy twelve finally last year, purchased it for the switch because I was like, I'm going to play through twelve after I am finished with Zelda and six. And then those took forever. Before I knew it, Steve of Stars was done. I was playing control. It was the end of the year. There was no Final Fantasy twelve. And so I was considering that, but I was like, I don't want to do another Final Fantasy. That's kind of boring. I'm probably still going to play through it this year.
01:07:40 --> 01:07:42 I mean, there's only 16 of them.
01:07:42 --> 01:08:35 Not on my list, right. But then I was like, well, maybe witcher three because I got that with my PS four when I was given my PS four. And I've had that since, what, 2017? 2016? Something like that. So I was like, I need to play through that. Not touched it yet. But then Citistar was like, well, that's what I'm playing through. So I was like, all right, let me play something else. But I think I ultimately fell on Okami because I bought that for the PS two back when. And like, that is a billion other games. I bought it at release and never fucking touched it and then eventually got rid of it because I never fucking touched it. But I have it on.
01:08:35 --> 01:08:36 Great game.
01:08:36 --> 01:08:46 So I've got steam. I've got the steam deck, though. Depending on how long that is, I might record it and put it on YouTube for the channel. I don't know.
01:08:46 --> 01:08:48 Sick. Yes, do it.
01:08:48 --> 01:09:05 So depending on playtime for that, I might do that. But yeah, I think Okami is where I'm at. I still have the preorder bonus from buying the PS two game. That little Buddha board in its Capcom box.
01:09:06 --> 01:09:06 Nice.
01:09:08 --> 01:09:16 Okami is a great game. It's compelling. The Steam version is fantastic.
01:09:17 --> 01:09:22 I mean, you play as a fucking wolf. Why have I not played it yet?
01:09:26 --> 01:09:52 When Okami came out, it was during that heavy cell shaded time frame that was coming out for the PS two or whatever. And I love. Thank you so. God damn it. That's why I love you, Wolf. There's so many people that don't care for that style. I don't know why, but I love it. I love the whole watercolor airbrush look to the game. It looks like artwork from start to finish.
01:09:52 --> 01:09:53 Yeah.
01:09:55 --> 01:10:04 It'S honestly part of the reason that I absolutely adore the Dragon quest. Forgotten King, whichever one it is.
01:10:04 --> 01:10:05 Seven. Hate.
01:10:06 --> 01:10:13 Yeah. Because it has that cell shaded. I love it. It's gorgeous.
01:10:13 --> 01:10:38 I love dragon quest. Eight for that. I love wild arms. Three for that weird heavy, dark outline with hand painted or hand colored style to it. Cell shaded. It just looks gorgeous to me. I absolutely love that style. Like jetset radio is another one that same similar art. Cell shaded art style. I love it.
01:10:38 --> 01:10:39 Telltale mechanics.
01:10:39 --> 01:11:12 All the mechanics in the game are fucking out of this world. And it's so fun to learn and to play. I was playing it on the steam deck because I have the Steam version as well. Plays fantastic on the steam deck as well as everywhere else. So originally I told you because I told you this in an mp, I got both Okami and shadow the Colossus and I was in an embarrassment of riches during that time because I couldn't figure out which game to play because they're both fucking amazing. So super pumped you with Oakme. That's going to be sick.
01:11:12 --> 01:11:14 Did Colossus come to pc?
01:11:16 --> 01:11:19 No, it came to ps four.
01:11:19 --> 01:11:23 You're right. Master is on PS four. You're correct. You're correct on that.
01:11:23 --> 01:11:24 Okay.
01:11:24 --> 01:11:25 Because I played both of them.
01:11:25 --> 01:11:31 No, I do not have access to that, super Jake. But that was another one. That was.
01:11:31 --> 01:11:33 You got a friend who has it.
01:11:33 --> 01:11:37 Sir, who lives near you very much but fair.
01:11:39 --> 01:11:42 I got a fucking ps four. I'd bring that to your goddamn house if I had to.
01:11:42 --> 01:11:43 Well, I got a PS four.
01:11:43 --> 01:11:46 I want to play this. I'd make it happen. White wall.
01:11:47 --> 01:12:26 I have the PS two game and I think I got like halfway through it before I stopped playing that one. But yeah, I'm going with Okami. I'm going to finish that. But shadow of the Colossus was another one I kind of tossed around. So yeah, I'm going to have fun. Love it, Okami. Yeah, maybe stretch goal. And the nice thing is now I can recently fix my computer. No more blue screens. They're a thing of the past for me. So I can actually record stuff and not worry about losing content or just being pissed at myself. So more likely to start getting some stuff recorded and put on the channel with that.
01:12:27 --> 01:12:30 Excellent look at us. Excellent.
01:12:30 --> 01:12:31 Look at us.
01:12:31 --> 01:12:36 Well, I think we have an epic list for 2024.
01:12:36 --> 01:12:37 It's going to be a good year, fellas.
01:12:37 --> 01:12:38 Yeah, I agree.
01:12:38 --> 01:12:38 Yeah.
01:12:38 --> 01:12:40 Wholeheartedly agree with that.
01:12:40 --> 01:12:44 We're going to have to figure out how to one up the wheel of pain for our next one.
01:12:44 --> 01:12:46 I don't know. There was some good shit.
01:12:46 --> 01:12:47 Is there enough on this wheel?
01:12:47 --> 01:13:13 On Jake? Honestly, because. And I think because Jake is the only person, we should just leave it the way it is and then maybe take one game off. I'm serious. Because it's not a cut to you. It's not a. It's. It's. Why literally revamp the wheel when all we got to do is take the one. We'll take Buck bumble off, throw something in there, and then I can tentatively not play werewolf and cry about it later.
01:13:13 --> 01:13:22 It's okay, Sue. Mario Brothers special is a game that is dear to my heart and I want more people on the show to play the special on the PC 88.
01:13:22 --> 01:13:23 Is that the one you threw into the.
01:13:23 --> 01:13:25 Somebody will play that game.
01:13:27 --> 01:13:29 I got bingo.
01:13:29 --> 01:13:36 I have werewolves. It is not a good game. Making a good game.
01:13:37 --> 01:13:39 Isn't that the one that went into the ocean?
01:13:39 --> 01:13:45 No, that was Wheel of Fortune. We did some sleight of hand, but that was a fishing line.
01:13:45 --> 01:13:48 It went into the ocean, right?
01:13:49 --> 01:13:49 Yeah.
01:13:50 --> 01:14:03 Well, I'm pumped. So we got Final Fantasy X with a possible pennish stretch goal. We got Horizon Zero dawn, which I'm super excited to play for you guys. We got witcher three with everybody else. Which all of us are playing.
01:14:04 --> 01:14:05 Which all of us are playing.
01:14:05 --> 01:14:06 I'm out. I can't.
01:14:06 --> 01:14:07 Funny how that works.
01:14:08 --> 01:14:34 Street Fighter six story mode and possible platinuming. That would be great. You got it. And then an Okami finisher. It's like a sweet dessert finish. A fantastic meal. This is going to be a killer year, guys. There may not be a lot of great games coming out, but I'll tell you what. Press B to cancel is bringing the fucking heat. Tell you that right now?
01:14:34 --> 01:14:54 Yes. Fantastic. Well, we're trying to work on timing for our game of the year for 2023. It will be coming soon, within the next probably month. I assume we'll all figure out a time to get together and do our game of the year. So watch for that.
01:14:54 --> 01:14:55 Not Elden ring.
01:14:55 --> 01:14:56 Yeah.
01:14:56 --> 01:14:57 Shocker. Surprise.
01:14:59 --> 01:15:00 It's Elden ring two.
01:15:00 --> 01:15:04 Oh, wait, it's the year tree. It's the DLC.
01:15:04 --> 01:15:04 Yeah.
01:15:04 --> 01:15:07 Getting DLC. Yeah. I was going to say that's coming out.
01:15:08 --> 01:15:38 No. So if you enjoyed what you watched, please, like, subscribe, tell your friends, go to our website, presspeedocancel.com. We have a discord channel. You can come yell at us. You can come tell us that we picked the wrong games or we picked the right games. Today was successful. We stream both on Twitch when we can, and YouTube on Fridays. We'll also be on your favorite audio podcast service. If we're not, yell at Jake. Tell him his mic's bad.
01:15:38 --> 01:15:42 Okay. I'm used to it by now. I got a better.
01:15:44 --> 01:15:45 Stream.
01:15:45 --> 01:15:45 Next.
01:15:45 --> 01:15:47 We'll all stream from the stream deck next.
01:15:47 --> 01:15:50 Yeah, next week we're all streaming from the Steam deck.
01:15:50 --> 01:15:54 GP, come to my house. You can stream from my steam deck. That way you don't have to buy.
01:15:54 --> 01:16:02 I would love that. Instead of my little camera space here, just put, like, a Game Boy advanced picture and be like, yeah.
01:16:03 --> 01:16:04 You need.
01:16:04 --> 01:16:07 To be virtual, boy.
01:16:07 --> 01:16:09 That'd be fucking great.
01:16:12 --> 01:16:19 Awesome. Well, any other comments, gents, or do we call this a wrap?
01:16:20 --> 01:16:21 I think it's bacon.
01:16:21 --> 01:16:26 Kid who beat Tetris. I don't know if you guys saw that or whatever, but that kid, man, 100 and whatever lines.
01:16:26 --> 01:16:28 Oh, that 13 year old kid.
01:16:28 --> 01:16:34 I thought he was 13 when he started. He's 50 now because he's never stopped.
01:16:35 --> 01:16:39 Actually, his quote literally was, I can't feel my fingers.
01:16:39 --> 01:16:42 I can't imagine the pain.
01:16:44 --> 01:16:47 So much Tetris for a young man. I don't know, it's incredibly impressive.
01:16:47 --> 01:17:08 But I got to say, for all the generations that came up playing Tetris, and I wanted to throw a parade for myself. First time I got into the triple digits. But to see that kind of thing and have it be accomplished by somebody so young really made me happy to think that the classics are still getting the love that they deserve. That kid, all the best. Congrats.
01:17:08 --> 01:17:18 And being a primarily retro podcast, even though we've done a lot of more newer stuff lately, it still warms all of our old hearts. That stuff's still getting out there and getting done, so that's awesome.
01:17:19 --> 01:17:19 That's right.
01:17:20 --> 01:17:22 Tetris is a great movie, by the way. Go watch that.
01:17:22 --> 01:17:26 It is amazing movie. Shockingly good.
01:17:26 --> 01:17:31 All right, well, any other comments, like.
01:17:31 --> 01:18:12 Everybody else will be. What do you got? I'm going to be streaming. Don't worry, that'll come out tonight. I will be streaming my sisyphine playthrough all on Twitch. So if anybody's interested who wants to come and watch me struggle with Aloy and the rest of the team, please come over to Chardmonk and come and hang out with me there. And then I hope to watch everybody else's playthrough in some fit form or function, because that would be great. GP, you didn't want to talk about yourself. So this year, it's all about me, baby.
01:18:13 --> 01:18:14 It's going to be a good year.
01:18:14 --> 01:18:16 It's going to be a strong year.
01:18:17 --> 01:18:19 All right, this has been Presbyter cancel.
