[00:00:13] Welcome to Gaming Together, a part of the podcast. I'm your host Phillip and I'm here with my co-op partner, Nave.
[00:00:17] Each pod we play through a quarter experience and relay to you, the listener, if this game is a creme de la creme of co-op or something better off playing solo.
[00:00:24] We made a Nave, a new year of gaming together.
[00:00:27] Don't say that. Our voices are gonna make it. I mean, I could pass away at any moment, you know.
[00:00:32] Oh my god.
[00:00:32] I said this big ass bowl of rice with like all this soy sauce and I was like, dude, as soon as I poured it on there, I was like, this looks good.
[00:00:39] And then I stared at it for a minute. I was like, man, my this is a lot of salt. You know what I'm saying?
[00:00:44] Have you seen the death notebooks? Separate from a death note, this is a notebook full of things you write before you die and just has like questions like, hey, what's something you would want your children to know about you from your childhood?
[00:00:59] And it just has like a blank page and you're supposed to just write in and be like, we used to drive to the five and dime or, you know, and we went to Jerry's for ice cream and only paid a nickel.
[00:01:10] There's, you know, that type of stuff.
[00:01:12] Dude, I keep getting ads on YouTube, like every, like every seventh or eighth ad will be like, if your dad is still alive, you need to buy this product.
[00:01:19] I get that one. I get that one a lot too.
[00:01:21] I'm like, what the fuck? I don't want to think about this. I don't want my, I don't want my modern dad to have that notebook.
[00:01:28] It was like five years ago, probably better.
[00:01:32] But, um, yeah.
[00:01:34] It'd be so funny.
[00:01:35] So it's so weird to think about like, how can you give someone that?
[00:01:39] Because it's like, that's given up almost, you know, when you, when you get that one.
[00:01:46] Yeah, it is kind of brutal. That reminds me. It's like, I always think about this, like every now and then when I'm writing something kind of sarcastic or rude on like Twitter or something, which I haven't been using Twitter like at all.
[00:01:59] Like actually, like I haven't been using really any social media. I've really disconnected.
[00:02:02] But, uh, I always think like, man, what if this was my last tweet, the last one that I went out on, you know what I mean?
[00:02:09] We were being a filthy little goblin.
[00:02:12] Yeah. Like what? So what makes me think about it is this guy, young crip. I don't know if I could, if he still has a fucking Twitter account because he died.
[00:02:22] Yeah, I have no idea. Yeah, I can't find him. But, um, he, he, his last tweet was like him making fun of somebody, but he was like a comedy, like a comedy person. You know what I mean?
[00:02:35] Yeah.
[00:02:36] Fucking miss that guy. Like, oh man, that was such a good account. I mean, you remember young crip, right? He was in that, he was in a John Tron video.
[00:02:44] He was the guy in the wheelchair.
[00:02:45] He was that, he was that guy. Yeah.
[00:02:48] He don't, yeah, that was like the last thing he did before he died besides, you know, just be himself on the internet.
[00:02:54] That guy was really funny. Oh, well, why are we talking so much about death at the beginning of the year?
[00:03:00] Oh, yeah, because you're like, well, we might not make it to next year because, uh, spoilers, I guess we're recording this before the new year has actually turned.
[00:03:07] Uh, you know, that's a little behind the scenes for the listener.
[00:03:11] How early we could not live, but we are gaming podcasts and we're going to be focusing on helping assholes in need.
[00:03:18] But before we get there, let's just check in with what games we have been playing.
[00:03:22] Nave, what are you playing? Any changes from last week?
[00:03:26] Uh, yeah, a little bit. I mean, so for no change, for the no changes, um, I finished a way out.
[00:03:34] Did you win at the end?
[00:03:36] I did win at the end.
[00:03:37] Or did you win at the end of our zone?
[00:03:38] No.
[00:03:39] I won at the end.
[00:03:40] Well, I know both endings and I was the nose.
[00:03:44] So I was like, I'm going to win because the other ending sucks.
[00:03:47] You know what I mean? The nose needs to get out.
[00:03:49] Yeah.
[00:03:50] He has so much to live for.
[00:03:51] The wife and the kid.
[00:03:53] Yeah. And also I knew it was coming. Like I knew, like I was going to have to mash the button.
[00:03:57] So I had like a little bit of a head start.
[00:03:59] But, um, yeah, I was playing with Casey and she did not know anything about this game at all.
[00:04:05] And we had played it takes two before this.
[00:04:07] So she was like, oh, this is going to be great. You know what I mean?
[00:04:10] It's not going to be.
[00:04:11] It's made by the same director.
[00:04:12] This will be awesome.
[00:04:14] But, uh, she was very upset.
[00:04:16] Like she wouldn't, she didn't really say anything for like the whole end of the game.
[00:04:19] And she's like super into like Call of Duty and shit.
[00:04:22] So, um, it was actually kind of a struggle like during the fight.
[00:04:27] Like we were fighting.
[00:04:28] Like that was close.
[00:04:30] Um, but yeah, I don't know.
[00:04:34] It's, it's funny because she, she doesn't really play story games at all.
[00:04:38] So it's like, she's always playing like zombies or Call of Duty or like, you know, Apex Legends.
[00:04:43] She's, she doesn't play like story games.
[00:04:45] So she's like, this is probably one of the first times she's really like seen a sad ending in a game.
[00:04:52] You know what I mean?
[00:04:53] I mean, sad endings are rare in games.
[00:04:55] Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
[00:04:55] So it's like, she's just like, fuck this game.
[00:04:58] And I'm like, why are you acting like this?
[00:04:59] And she's just like, I just don't like how that game ended.
[00:05:01] I'm like, damn.
[00:05:03] All right.
[00:05:03] I like how it ended, honestly.
[00:05:05] But.
[00:05:07] It's got a certain flavor.
[00:05:09] Yeah.
[00:05:10] I mean, I am a sad boy.
[00:05:11] I do be liking them sad endings.
[00:05:13] Um, which, so speaking of sad endings, I don't know.
[00:05:17] Metaphor.
[00:05:17] I don't know if that's, I'm not in, I'm not known with it yet.
[00:05:20] So that's not a spoiler.
[00:05:21] I don't, I'm sure, I'm sure it's going to be a happy ending, but, um, I'm in the last.
[00:05:26] The fight is at the, I'm at the door.
[00:05:29] Like it's like three days left.
[00:05:31] It's like on my game console right now.
[00:05:33] I'm looking at it.
[00:05:34] It's like right there.
[00:05:35] I'm in the last dungeon.
[00:05:37] I did like the trials.
[00:05:39] I finished them.
[00:05:40] I found a spot to grind with like these two, there are these two, uh, like mimics and right
[00:05:48] next to it is a spot where you can go to the blue room or whatever it's called and the
[00:05:52] velvet room and persona, but it's a different room in this game.
[00:05:55] And that resets the enemies.
[00:05:57] And those guys can drop a thing that gives you a lot of like avatar experience or whatever
[00:06:03] it's called, uh, archetype experience.
[00:06:05] And then you just, you, everyone becomes a merchant with the thieves ability.
[00:06:10] Like you just got to fucking tweak everything around so that the drop rate for items is a
[00:06:14] lot higher.
[00:06:15] And then you kill the two and they drop like two to four every time you do it.
[00:06:20] And it takes like 30 seconds.
[00:06:22] So you just do that forever.
[00:06:23] Like you just sit there for like four whole Japanese podcasts.
[00:06:27] Like listening to them and eventually, eventually you max out everything.
[00:06:33] Oh dude, it felt good at first.
[00:06:36] And then about a third of the way through, I was like, oh my God, am I, am I really going
[00:06:39] to do, I kept checking like the experiences.
[00:06:41] Like, am I really doing this?
[00:06:43] How close am I?
[00:06:44] So I wasted two of my, two days of my life doing that.
[00:06:48] Um, uh, you know, half-assedly because I'm getting distracted by Duolingo and like YouTube
[00:06:56] and Twitter and shit or not Twitter, but, uh, blue sky.
[00:06:59] And, um, I don't know this week really snuck up on me.
[00:07:03] I didn't realize it was Sunday.
[00:07:05] Like, I mean, I knew it was Sunday cause I didn't go to work, but it's like my brain
[00:07:08] didn't register that it was Sunday.
[00:07:10] So you're like, oh, you want to let's do the thing at nine.
[00:07:13] And I'm like, what?
[00:07:15] Why are we recording so early?
[00:07:16] We literally just recorded last week.
[00:07:19] Oh yeah.
[00:07:19] That was last week.
[00:07:20] Just last week.
[00:07:21] Yeah.
[00:07:22] Insane.
[00:07:24] But, um, other than that, I, we, I downloaded a new game.
[00:07:26] This is a game I bought too.
[00:07:27] So this goes into what did Nate buy, uh, which I bought something else, but I'll look
[00:07:32] it up in a second.
[00:07:33] Um, Outlast Trials, which is on the list, Philip.
[00:07:37] I bet you didn't know that.
[00:07:39] Well, I didn't know it was on the list, but do you know, we get offered like review
[00:07:42] keys for this game?
[00:07:43] Like every week, every time they do like a major update, we get emails asking us to
[00:07:48] come play this game and I've never taken them up on it.
[00:07:52] Did you, uh, are you getting Xbox keys?
[00:07:55] Yes.
[00:07:55] That's what I was going to say.
[00:07:57] Cause I feel like it's always a PC codes.
[00:07:59] I look at that every now and then.
[00:08:01] Cause I get, I get the notifications when we get emails too.
[00:08:04] Emails.
[00:08:05] But, uh, cause it's like, Ooh, something, something outlast trials.
[00:08:08] And I'm like, what?
[00:08:09] I'll look at it for a second.
[00:08:10] I'm like, okay, mark is unread for Philip.
[00:08:13] It's okay.
[00:08:14] You don't need to mark them as unread.
[00:08:15] I checked them all anyways.
[00:08:17] But, um, yeah, this, this game is interesting.
[00:08:22] It's like left for dead, but outlast.
[00:08:24] It's really weird.
[00:08:26] You know what I mean?
[00:08:27] No.
[00:08:27] I mean, when I was back in Texas, my supervisor at the time, this was his like only game he
[00:08:33] played was outlast trials is like every day he would play outlast trials and he's like,
[00:08:38] you play outlast trials and I'm like, no, I don't.
[00:08:41] And that was it.
[00:08:42] That was the end of the conversation.
[00:08:43] That's such a bizarre fucking thing.
[00:08:46] Um, cause that's such a weird, it's such a weird game to like main, especially if you're
[00:08:50] just like a normal person.
[00:08:51] Is it?
[00:08:52] Because it's outlast.
[00:08:53] You said it was just like left for dead, but outlast flavored.
[00:08:57] Maybe people want that kind of grind is an extraction shooter or is it just like
[00:09:01] campaigns?
[00:09:02] No, it's like left for dead.
[00:09:03] Like, yeah.
[00:09:04] So you have campaigns.
[00:09:05] I don't know if like what the end game is like, but like you have campaigns.
[00:09:08] And so you go in, you're on fucking, uh, what is that one with a hospital and left for
[00:09:14] dead?
[00:09:15] I can't remember.
[00:09:16] Yeah.
[00:09:16] No mercy.
[00:09:17] That's it.
[00:09:17] Yeah.
[00:09:17] So you're, you're dropping into no mercy.
[00:09:19] You're like, all right.
[00:09:21] Uh, we got to go in there.
[00:09:23] We got to do the thing.
[00:09:24] And then we got to get out.
[00:09:25] You know what I mean?
[00:09:26] It's kind of extraction.
[00:09:27] He kind of not, but like you have a bunch of objectives.
[00:09:30] You just go through like a horror house while there's dudes looking for you.
[00:09:34] It gets progressively harder as you do more of the objectives.
[00:09:38] And then it's like, cause it'll be like, like there was like, I just did the carnival
[00:09:42] one and the carnival one is like there in the middle.
[00:09:44] There's like a bobbing for hearts thing.
[00:09:46] Cause it's outlast.
[00:09:47] So it's all gory and stupid.
[00:09:49] And so it's like, you take the hearts, which use inventory slots.
[00:09:53] You have inventory slots in this game, three of them.
[00:09:56] And then what you use for like health or like it were like, uh, adrenaline.
[00:10:01] You got like batteries for your fucking fucking thing.
[00:10:06] Oh yeah.
[00:10:06] Your night vision.
[00:10:07] Because of course the batteries die very fast.
[00:10:09] Yeah.
[00:10:10] But in this game, you don't have a camera.
[00:10:12] You have a fucking Sam Fisher helmet.
[00:10:15] Yeah.
[00:10:15] Like it's literally drilled into you.
[00:10:18] It's like the tutorial is so long, by the way, the tutorial is like 45 minutes long.
[00:10:23] It's like a, it's like half of the first game.
[00:10:25] It's I don't know how long it actually is, but it feels like it goes on forever.
[00:10:29] Cause she, cause I was playing with Casey.
[00:10:31] She was just sitting there waiting for me.
[00:10:32] So I was just like, it's just going on and on and on.
[00:10:35] I don't know how to make it go faster, but, um, I don't know.
[00:10:40] It's really cool.
[00:10:40] The coolest thing about it is, um, whenever you're not in a mission, you go to like a
[00:10:46] little lobby.
[00:10:47] You know what I mean?
[00:10:48] Do you remember like destiny?
[00:10:49] It's literally like a destiny, like hub area.
[00:10:52] Yeah.
[00:10:53] And so you're standing around, you got all these people who look hideous standing next to
[00:10:58] each other.
[00:10:58] And there are activities you can partake in.
[00:11:02] And one of which is a chess board.
[00:11:06] Oh no.
[00:11:07] Yeah.
[00:11:07] So you can do five minute chess.
[00:11:09] I'm undefeated by the way.
[00:11:10] I'm going hard on the paint.
[00:11:12] Every time we do anything, I always go back to the chess board and sit down and just wait
[00:11:16] for someone to go sit across from me.
[00:11:18] Just for you to clown them.
[00:11:19] Oh my God.
[00:11:20] Those poor sons of bitches.
[00:11:22] Sometimes I'll come back.
[00:11:23] Like I'll, I'll be like, oh, I'm going to go like decorate my room, which there's a
[00:11:27] bunch of rooms.
[00:11:28] It looks like fallout.
[00:11:29] Weirdly enough, like a fallout vault.
[00:11:31] But, um, so you're in there.
[00:11:33] I'm like, you get, there's a bunch of empty rooms and ask people populate the hub.
[00:11:36] Of their rooms get like put into one of those.
[00:11:39] And you can like decorate it with all the kinds of fucking shit that you get.
[00:11:42] That's pretty cool.
[00:11:42] Battle passes and whatnot.
[00:11:43] It's really neat.
[00:11:44] And, um, I'll be up there doing that and I'll come back down.
[00:11:47] I'll see two poor suckers playing chess.
[00:11:49] And the whole time I'm like, your knight's hanging, your knight's hanging.
[00:11:53] And then I'm like, oh my God, take the knight, take that knight.
[00:11:55] And I'm like, no, you just moved the bishop there.
[00:11:57] Obviously, what were you doing?
[00:11:59] Why would you put the bishop there not to attack the knight?
[00:12:01] It's hanging.
[00:12:01] Just go take it.
[00:12:02] You know what I mean?
[00:12:03] I was screaming.
[00:12:04] And like, I'm not in the public lobby.
[00:12:07] I don't know if we could even hear each other if I was screaming.
[00:12:09] But I'm like pinging repeatedly, like the chessboard.
[00:12:12] And they can see it.
[00:12:14] Like they can see like guns or skins pings the chessboard over and over and over again.
[00:12:19] So I don't know.
[00:12:20] It's really, there's some, there was, and I know they could see it because there was
[00:12:24] one time like a guy picked up a piece and I started pinging over and over again.
[00:12:27] And you could see them physically pick the piece up and moving it around the chessboard.
[00:12:31] And he just puts it back.
[00:12:34] And then like he starts thinking some more.
[00:12:37] And I'm like, I am bullying these children probably who are trying to play chess.
[00:12:41] Wait, children play?
[00:12:42] Okay, Outlast, the game famous where like they are just hanging meat in the camp in the first one.
[00:12:50] There's dong and titty everywhere in this game actually.
[00:12:53] Yeah, it's all over the place.
[00:12:55] So funny.
[00:12:57] Yeah, it was even the mission we did before the carnival.
[00:13:01] It's like inside of this, maybe it's an asylum or something.
[00:13:06] I can't remember.
[00:13:06] But there is a church.
[00:13:09] And when you go in there, there's this thing, this thing opened up.
[00:13:14] And a person who's like crucified comes out.
[00:13:17] But his dick's hanging out.
[00:13:18] He's got a bag over his head.
[00:13:20] And you have to like serve the flesh of Christ.
[00:13:22] And you have to like take, you have to do the saw on both sides.
[00:13:27] And you're cutting his leg off.
[00:13:28] But as you're doing that, he starts screaming and people start coming.
[00:13:30] So you have to like run around and hide.
[00:13:32] And one person just keeps doing it.
[00:13:33] Like it's kind of fun.
[00:13:35] It's more annoying than anything because you're, it's like, hey, do this thing that this menial task.
[00:13:42] Imagine if in Among Us, you had to like wipe the screen off over and over again and like do ridiculous shit trying to just do your tasks.
[00:13:52] You know what I mean?
[00:13:52] That's what it kind of feels like.
[00:13:54] But it's kind of neat.
[00:13:56] I think it's unique enough that we should definitely talk about it though.
[00:13:58] If you get a key, I don't think that PC and Xbox can play together.
[00:14:02] I don't, I'm not sure.
[00:14:03] But if you can get a key and then we can just play severally, I'm totally fine with that.
[00:14:07] But I think that if you can get it on Xbox somehow, we should definitely talk about this game at some point.
[00:14:12] All right.
[00:14:12] I'll look into it or just check on a sale.
[00:14:15] Yeah.
[00:14:16] That's when I got it was on sales like $11 or something.
[00:14:21] Now you play anything else?
[00:14:22] No, not really.
[00:14:25] All right.
[00:14:25] So for me, I've been continuing to play Atelier Ryza, Ever Darkness and the Secret Hideout.
[00:14:31] Terrible title.
[00:14:33] Great game though.
[00:14:34] Very fun.
[00:14:35] Very cute.
[00:14:36] It's just a pretty wholesome experience.
[00:14:40] I'd recommend it also playing Japanese.
[00:14:42] Japanese is not that bad.
[00:14:44] Every once in a while, there's some confusing bits or it'll just be like the quick travel board is just a list of locations.
[00:14:52] And so I'm like, oh no, because it's like there's like obviously it's like, oh, that's Ryza's house.
[00:14:57] Oh, that's like the harbor.
[00:14:59] But then you're on an island with three different harbors.
[00:15:02] And so there's like the harbor.
[00:15:04] There's the seafront.
[00:15:06] There's the I don't know, like the fish market by the bay.
[00:15:09] There's just like everyone's and I'm like, my Japanese is not specific enough to tell the difference between these different places.
[00:15:16] But I know they're all harbor related.
[00:15:19] So I do get goofed on that.
[00:15:21] But the game is pretty straightforward.
[00:15:23] If you wanted a, I don't know, stepping in point for Japanese gaming.
[00:15:30] I don't know if I'm going to be able to do that.
[00:15:33] We'll talk about Japanese later.
[00:15:34] Oh, we will.
[00:15:35] We might have like a Japanese.
[00:15:36] This year might start a new section of this, of the, of the episodes.
[00:15:41] Japanese corner.
[00:15:42] Maybe.
[00:15:42] I don't know if that's going to be popular enough.
[00:15:45] Maybe.
[00:15:45] I was thinking about doing it anyways, because this is our show.
[00:15:48] But the game's good.
[00:15:50] But not a video game of your game adjacent.
[00:15:53] I watched season two of Arcane two with my wife, Jana.
[00:15:56] And you have not watched season one yet.
[00:15:58] Have you?
[00:15:59] Or two?
[00:16:00] No, I haven't watched any of it.
[00:16:02] I am single handedly filtered by Imagine Dragons being associated with the show.
[00:16:08] And so, yeah.
[00:16:10] The intros are so stylish.
[00:16:11] It's just like the Danadan intro, whatever.
[00:16:13] It's just Imagine Dragons is playing in the background instead.
[00:16:17] Yeah.
[00:16:18] It just sounds like my hell, honestly.
[00:16:21] It's so funny.
[00:16:22] I don't know.
[00:16:23] After the first one, like, usually, I kind of like watching the intros to like anime and
[00:16:27] stuff, like Danadan or whatever.
[00:16:29] And it came on the second time and Jana's like, you can skip the intro on this one.
[00:16:34] I was like, okay.
[00:16:36] On Arcane?
[00:16:37] Yeah, on Arcane.
[00:16:38] Okay.
[00:16:39] Well, that's, I don't know, man.
[00:16:41] I'm just like, there's some, I was explaining this to somebody.
[00:16:44] I think it was specifically about Arcane as well, where I was like, there's something
[00:16:49] about Imagine Dragons that just, it's a primal gene in my body that activates.
[00:16:55] That just makes me spiral.
[00:16:57] It just makes me think about like the end, like end stage capitalism or what is it called?
[00:17:03] Late stage capitalism.
[00:17:04] I'm just like, I go straight to 1984.
[00:17:08] You know what I mean?
[00:17:09] Like, I don't know what it is about Imagine Dragons, but they seem like one of the four
[00:17:13] horsemen of 1984.
[00:17:17] That's a strong claim.
[00:17:19] Yeah.
[00:17:20] I don't know why.
[00:17:21] What I thought was wild is I think there's an Amazon series that's coming out that is
[00:17:25] 1984, the Amazon series.
[00:17:27] And I'm like, I don't know if it's Amazon, I could check real quick, but there's no point.
[00:17:33] There is a television series for 1984 coming out.
[00:17:37] Series.
[00:17:38] Oh, it's a Netflix series.
[00:17:40] Okay.
[00:17:41] That's the same.
[00:17:43] Yeah.
[00:17:44] It sounds like it's the same.
[00:17:47] So yeah.
[00:17:48] Dear listeners, if you're unaware, 1984 is a book.
[00:17:54] Basically talking about the end of free will.
[00:17:56] I was like, thank you, Philip.
[00:17:59] I'm trying to like, how do I sum this up in a, like, in the most, you know, I don't know,
[00:18:06] direct method.
[00:18:07] Like it's, it's, it's a horror, I would say, but not like spooky.
[00:18:14] Okay.
[00:18:15] Dystopian.
[00:18:15] There we go.
[00:18:15] That's the word I've been looking for.
[00:18:17] It's probably one of the earliest dystopian horrors.
[00:18:22] And it is horrifying.
[00:18:23] It is really cool.
[00:18:24] Much like an in time movie featuring, what was it?
[00:18:27] Justin Timberlake maybe or something?
[00:18:30] Justin Timberlake?
[00:18:31] What the fuck are you?
[00:18:33] Hold on.
[00:18:33] In time.
[00:18:37] Yeah.
[00:18:37] Justin Timberlake is the main bad guy.
[00:18:39] Or good guy.
[00:18:40] He's a good guy.
[00:18:41] It's a dystopian future where everyone's born with a ticking clock in their body.
[00:18:47] And when the clock runs out, you die and your money is time and you pay with your life.
[00:18:55] And so the rich live forever.
[00:18:58] I was thinking of the movie.
[00:18:59] This is the end, which is one of those Seth Rogen.
[00:19:03] You know, he is the same person in every movie movies.
[00:19:06] Yeah.
[00:19:07] Yeah.
[00:19:09] Oh, but back to Arcane.
[00:19:10] Arcane?
[00:19:11] Real good.
[00:19:12] Every time the characters do anything that was in the games, though, it would just lit my heart up.
[00:19:18] As late stage capitalism as it is.
[00:19:21] Like when I see them, like, Heimerdinger drops one of his lines or something.
[00:19:25] I'm like, he said the thing!
[00:19:26] Dongers up!
[00:19:27] You know, like, this is incredible.
[00:19:31] Where they pull out one of the gadgets, like the flame chompers or the net gun with Caitlyn.
[00:19:36] I'm like, they did it.
[00:19:37] Those sons of bitches.
[00:19:39] That's the thing, too.
[00:19:40] I was talking to somebody who likes Arcane and they were like, look at this clip and tell me this isn't great.
[00:19:44] And I watched it and I was like, hey, it's Jinx.
[00:19:47] I know that person.
[00:19:48] And then she's fighting the brawler or something.
[00:19:51] And I'm like, what the fuck?
[00:19:53] Who is this?
[00:19:54] Is this a character in League of Legends now?
[00:19:56] And they're like, League of Legends.
[00:19:57] Guardians.
[00:19:59] You know what I mean?
[00:20:01] That's the whole thing.
[00:20:02] So it's like, they showed me two clips and both of the clips.
[00:20:05] It was like, I think it was V fighting someone who I had no idea who they were.
[00:20:09] Just a person.
[00:20:10] And then Jinx also just fighting a person.
[00:20:13] And I'm just like, and the one with Jinx I think had Imagine Dragons playing during it.
[00:20:18] And so I was like, one of these fucking scenes that she sent me, it had Imagine Dragons playing during it.
[00:20:23] And I was like, I don't want to watch this.
[00:20:25] Because they were like, isn't this like a music video?
[00:20:26] Like, I don't want to watch it.
[00:20:28] I don't want to watch the Dragon Dragon music video.
[00:20:30] I'm sorry.
[00:20:30] They actually do the music video thing in every episode.
[00:20:33] Like, usually in the beginning before the Imagine Dragons actually plays, they do like a music video.
[00:20:39] Because there's like a time jump usually after every episode.
[00:20:42] And it's like, you know, stuff going on and music playing or whatever.
[00:20:46] And it's actually really cool because it's hyper stylized.
[00:20:49] Like, they're not afraid to just like risk it.
[00:20:51] Where it's just like some parts of it are just fully animated in like watercolors.
[00:20:56] And I'm like, that's really different.
[00:20:58] Like, they do not keep like a, there's no like required style.
[00:21:02] They change it up like every episode.
[00:21:07] Whenever things get experimental.
[00:21:10] I like stylized things.
[00:21:11] I think the only reason why they can do that is because it's like 10 cent money mixed with Netflix money.
[00:21:17] You know what I mean?
[00:21:18] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:21:19] Definitely.
[00:21:19] So it's like so much money that it's, I don't know if it's on purpose why it would be so creative.
[00:21:26] I think it's just a flex on like, look, we've got League of Legends.
[00:21:29] This is ours.
[00:21:31] The thing is, though, it's almost like I assume this is how most of the big Marvel fans feel in like the Marvel movies and stuff.
[00:21:37] They're like, oh, fuck, it's Adam Strange or whatever, you know, like, yeah, whenever they say it's like they pop it up and it's like, oh, here's this character that we've known for a minute.
[00:21:44] What was his last name?
[00:21:46] And they're like Warwick.
[00:21:47] And I'm like, oh, God damn, they're going to bring Warwick in here.
[00:21:51] Finally.
[00:21:53] I hope he's a he's grandma Warwick whenever he shows up.
[00:21:56] Yeah, I hope so.
[00:21:58] He was not sadly.
[00:21:59] Of course, he's probably very edgy looking.
[00:22:02] Actually, they toned down his wolfishness.
[00:22:07] They made him a little bit more manly and less wolfy.
[00:22:11] Well, the show completely disregards the source material, right?
[00:22:14] Yeah, all the characters get redesigned.
[00:22:17] Yeah.
[00:22:17] Well, I meant like the whole thing, like Jinx isn't Jinx in this, right?
[00:22:21] This is like a completely separate alternate universe Jinx and alternate universe B.
[00:22:26] They seem very close.
[00:22:29] Because they had lore before.
[00:22:31] I never gave a shit about Jinx and I never gave a shit on V and I never gave a shit about Warwick.
[00:22:36] You can tell me when Zack comes in.
[00:22:38] I'll watch that episode and I'll tell you how close to the lore, how lore accurate Zack is.
[00:22:43] All right.
[00:22:44] Don't think he's ever going to show up.
[00:22:45] Was Zack created by a Sinj or anything?
[00:22:47] No, he was created by just a dude.
[00:22:49] I'm pretty sure.
[00:22:51] Because they follow pretty closely.
[00:22:53] They're like, oh, well, the other thing is you also get it throughout their whole lives.
[00:22:57] Because we see eight-year-old Jinx to however old she is in League of Legends, pretty much.
[00:23:04] We see them age up.
[00:23:05] Well, this is a primary...
[00:23:07] The primary reason why I asked that is because during the Game Awards, they had the best adaptation and Fallout ended up winning.
[00:23:17] And a lot of people were upset because Arkane's a better show.
[00:23:20] And all of that.
[00:23:22] But I think a lot of people were saying that Fallout is an actual video game adaptation.
[00:23:27] Like an actual TV adaptation of a video game, I mean.
[00:23:30] Where Arkane just disregards the video game completely.
[00:23:35] It's just a show and it happens to have the characters from the game, but it has nothing to do with the game's lore.
[00:23:43] You know what I mean?
[00:23:44] That's what people were arguing about.
[00:23:46] There's no minions.
[00:23:47] There's no towers.
[00:23:49] There's no Rift Herald.
[00:23:50] You know, it's just...
[00:23:52] No dragons get smited.
[00:23:55] So, yeah.
[00:23:56] I mean, as far as gameplay goes, it's nothing there.
[00:23:58] But they draw on the same source material.
[00:24:01] Even if they're not sticking directly to the lore, probably.
[00:24:04] Because I don't know all the lore.
[00:24:07] But the thing, like I said, where they pulled their last name as...
[00:24:11] Oh, his last name?
[00:24:12] John Warwick.
[00:24:13] And I'm like, oh my god, it's Warwick.
[00:24:15] Like, they do that so many times.
[00:24:18] Because they're like, oh, Professor Smith.
[00:24:20] And he's like, you can call me Victor.
[00:24:22] And I'm like, oh my god.
[00:24:24] Like every other episode this happens.
[00:24:28] And sadly, I kept waiting for, like, certain characters to show up.
[00:24:33] Because it's like, there's a whole Demacian group.
[00:24:36] Yeah, I'm like, when's the pirate ship gonna roll in?
[00:24:38] And Gangplank's just gonna walk off the deck and be like, you need a captain?
[00:24:42] Or something, I don't know, something cheesy Marvel line they're just gonna throw out there.
[00:24:47] I was thinking about the thing that What's-His-Name said in, like, the third Pirates of the Caribbean movie.
[00:24:51] You know what I'm talking about?
[00:24:53] Oh.
[00:24:53] Barbossa.
[00:24:54] Barbossa comes out and it's like...
[00:24:56] Dude, that Barbossa fucking shit was tight.
[00:24:58] Hold on.
[00:24:59] You know what I'm talking...
[00:24:59] You don't know what I'm talking about?
[00:25:01] Dude, my favorite line with him, though, is like...
[00:25:03] You best start believing in ghost stories.
[00:25:05] Because you're in one...
[00:25:06] Whatever.
[00:25:07] Yeah.
[00:25:08] Like, that's so good.
[00:25:10] It's also so stupid.
[00:25:15] Here, this.
[00:25:17] Oh!
[00:25:18] I got fucking jump-scared by some fucking Lady Gaga hoss labs.
[00:25:25] Here, this.
[00:25:26] Look at this for a second.
[00:25:27] I'll have to edit around this.
[00:25:28] Oh, fuck.
[00:25:28] I might have added a fucking something in there.
[00:25:30] Tell me if that link doesn't work.
[00:25:33] We need to skip ahead.
[00:25:36] Yeah.
[00:25:37] Because there's, like, shit happening.
[00:25:38] Oh, there is, like, 247.
[00:25:40] Yeah, this is it.
[00:25:41] And she turns around and you're like, Jack Sparrow.
[00:25:45] Jack Sparrow's back.
[00:25:46] Somehow.
[00:25:47] He's back.
[00:25:48] Oh, God.
[00:25:49] Yeah.
[00:25:50] So cheesy.
[00:25:51] Edit that in.
[00:25:52] Yeah.
[00:25:54] And then he needs the apple.
[00:25:55] Because he's a fucking big guy.
[00:25:56] Yeah, there's a lot of...
[00:25:57] There's a lot of stuff like that.
[00:25:59] Like, I think one scene even ends with...
[00:26:02] Like, this is Sly of the Spoilers, I guess.
[00:26:04] But, like, Singed is in danger.
[00:26:07] And he, like, cuts himself.
[00:26:09] And the blood drops down.
[00:26:10] And just cuts to, like, a wolf's eye opening.
[00:26:13] As, like, the blood trail, like, trickles through the sink clouds all the way to Warwick.
[00:26:18] And I'm like, oh, yeah.
[00:26:20] Next episode's gonna be fire.
[00:26:22] Because, like, he's on the hunt.
[00:26:24] I don't know.
[00:26:25] I am just immune to this kind of thing, I think.
[00:26:28] Like, this is...
[00:26:30] It's none of this sounds appealing to me.
[00:26:32] It makes me upset, actually, a little bit.
[00:26:35] I just love it.
[00:26:36] It's so good.
[00:26:37] I've been struck.
[00:26:38] Even though I don't even play League anymore.
[00:26:41] When you talk about the side characters, they...
[00:26:43] A lot of them aren't in League of Legends, true.
[00:26:46] But instead, they are characters in TFT.
[00:26:49] They make them units that you can use in TFT.
[00:26:52] So, it's like, Jana knew all the characters' names.
[00:26:55] She's like, oh, that's Vincent.
[00:26:57] And I'm like, who the fuck is Vincent?
[00:26:59] I was worried I actually named a real League of Legends character.
[00:27:03] Yeah, because there's so many.
[00:27:04] Yeah, there's so many.
[00:27:05] But I'm like, oh, who's Vincent?
[00:27:07] And she's like, oh, he's like...
[00:27:08] He works with Kalen, and he's a fish guy from wherever the furry people are from.
[00:27:14] I forgot what they were called.
[00:27:16] But you know what I'm talking about.
[00:27:17] Like, Rakan.
[00:27:18] Temos.
[00:27:19] No, those are Yordles.
[00:27:21] Those are the other furry people.
[00:27:24] Who?
[00:27:26] Okay, so there's like Rakan, Zaya...
[00:27:29] Those aren't furry people.
[00:27:30] Those are fucking bird people.
[00:27:32] Yeah, they're the furry.
[00:27:33] They're the animal people.
[00:27:36] Yeah, but Yordles are animal people.
[00:27:39] No, they're Yordles.
[00:27:41] They're like...
[00:27:41] They're the goblin people.
[00:27:44] Oh, wait, no.
[00:27:45] Well, there's also like...
[00:27:46] No, there's goblins, aren't there?
[00:27:47] Yeah, there are goblins.
[00:27:49] What are they called?
[00:27:51] Wait.
[00:27:52] The thing with Yordles, though, is that it's like only the males are furry.
[00:27:57] Right?
[00:27:57] Because there's like Tristana...
[00:27:59] Tristana is furry.
[00:28:00] Yeah, and...
[00:28:01] I thought she was just blue.
[00:28:02] Poppy...
[00:28:02] Poppy is really furry.
[00:28:04] Yeah, Poppy is furry all over.
[00:28:06] Look at a picture of them.
[00:28:09] The only reason I remember is because that fucking one...
[00:28:12] Oh my god.
[00:28:13] Poppy League of Legends.
[00:28:15] Not the fucking singer.
[00:28:16] I forgot about that.
[00:28:18] She's just blue.
[00:28:20] No, she's furry.
[00:28:21] She has fur all over her face.
[00:28:24] Alright, well, maybe the ears.
[00:28:26] I guess...
[00:28:27] Yeah, look at her model.
[00:28:29] Like, she has fur on her ears.
[00:28:31] You can clearly see her fur and stuff.
[00:28:33] The thing I'm saying...
[00:28:34] The thing I was saying, though, is that there's that music video from Pentakill that has the Yordles in it.
[00:28:40] Like, they're in the Yordle Village.
[00:28:42] I can't remember what song it is.
[00:28:43] There's not that many music videos.
[00:28:44] But, like, when you see Poppy, she is a fucking creature.
[00:28:49] When you see her.
[00:28:50] Like, it's almost like, who the fuck is that?
[00:28:52] Whenever you first see her.
[00:28:53] Tristana's there.
[00:28:54] Yeah, but they are all very, very furry.
[00:28:56] But, yeah, you're right.
[00:28:58] They do have less fur on their face.
[00:29:00] Like, Timo looks like a raccoon.
[00:29:02] Yeah.
[00:29:03] And so does Rumble, I'm pretty sure.
[00:29:05] This is the most uninteresting part of the episode we've ever done.
[00:29:09] Yeah, when we dive into the lead characters.
[00:29:11] Yeah.
[00:29:12] Alright, well, that's all my games.
[00:29:14] Oh, yeah, Rumble's really furry.
[00:29:16] Look, Rumble's blue, too!
[00:29:18] That's just the color of his fur!
[00:29:20] Okay, I guess Timo's the only one that's not blue, then.
[00:29:24] I'm gonna look all of them up.
[00:29:27] Show me the Yordle.
[00:29:29] Yeah, Yordles, all of them.
[00:29:33] What color is Heimerdinger?
[00:29:35] Heimerdinger's not a Yordle, is he?
[00:29:38] He's in the picture of the Yordles?
[00:29:43] Heimendinger.
[00:29:44] I don't know if Heimerdinger's a Yordle, honestly.
[00:29:48] Because Gnar isn't here, too.
[00:29:49] He's really hairy.
[00:29:51] Yeah, based on his nose, I guess he's a Yordle.
[00:29:56] Yeah, there's Ziggs, Kennan, I forgot all about him.
[00:29:59] Who?
[00:29:59] Oh, Kennan, yeah, he's definitely like a cat person.
[00:30:03] What is Kled?
[00:30:05] Is Kled a thing?
[00:30:09] Kled?
[00:30:10] I don't think Kled's a Yordle.
[00:30:13] Oh, no, he's definitely a Yordle.
[00:30:14] I'm looking at him now.
[00:30:16] Okay.
[00:30:17] You know what?
[00:30:18] I just remembered his thing he's writing, and I just imagined he was part of it.
[00:30:22] Oh, yeah.
[00:30:23] Like a centaur?
[00:30:24] Kled is definitely a Yordle.
[00:30:25] Kled is definitely a Yordle.
[00:30:25] Gnar, too.
[00:30:26] Okay, yeah, there's actually a lot of furry Yordles.
[00:30:29] One of the characters in Season 2 is a Yordle with robot arms and legs, so he's really tall.
[00:30:35] Like General Grievous.
[00:30:37] Ew.
[00:30:38] He's real nasty.
[00:30:41] Fucking hate that.
[00:30:43] I don't remember his name, but he does some stuff.
[00:30:47] I'm sure.
[00:30:49] I'm sure he runs the fucking water shop in TFT, where you rinse off your characters whenever
[00:30:58] you buy them.
[00:30:59] What are you talking about?
[00:31:01] I don't know.
[00:31:02] There's a mechanic in metaphor where you can get weapons or armor, but you can go get them
[00:31:10] blessed in the church, like washed in holy water, and then they're better versions of...
[00:31:15] Anyway.
[00:31:16] Doesn't matter.
[00:31:16] Have you heard of splashing in RuneScape?
[00:31:19] No.
[00:31:20] Okay, so apparently splashing is whenever you're casting runes, but not trying to deal damage.
[00:31:26] So they're like, wear full armor, so you have like negative 100 magic or whatever.
[00:31:32] I do know about this, actually.
[00:31:34] You'll go splash rats in the basement because you can hit more targets that way.
[00:31:41] Yeah, and you get experience by casting it rather than by the damage you do.
[00:31:46] Yeah, so you don't want to kill the rats, but you want to hit as many rats as possible.
[00:31:50] It's less time efficient.
[00:31:52] Splash in the castle basement is like the most...
[00:31:57] Talk about late state capitalism slang or something.
[00:32:00] Yeah, I don't know.
[00:32:03] Splashing rats.
[00:32:04] All right, what's our news?
[00:32:07] He got...
[00:32:10] We had a ride in...
[00:32:11] Okay, so last week when I was like, oh, confidently, I was like, we have one comment.
[00:32:18] That was a lie.
[00:32:19] We had two comments.
[00:32:20] I just didn't notice this one because it wasn't on the most recent episode.
[00:32:25] It was on the episode before that.
[00:32:27] So on episode 184, Metaphor Re-Fantasio with Nick, Alex Ortiz wrote in and said, all right, y'all convinced me to check this game out even more.
[00:32:37] If it's a lot more approachable than Persona, then that helps with my motivation to get it even more.
[00:32:45] I don't know how much more approachable this game is.
[00:32:48] I think the primary thing is that in Persona, you collect the dudes like Pokemon and then you can merge them.
[00:32:56] I don't know if you've ever played Persona, Phillip.
[00:32:58] Just lightly.
[00:32:59] Not enough to actually get to that point.
[00:33:00] I did get the point where you start collecting them, but I thought it was more you summon them and then you collect them.
[00:33:07] Well, you summon them, but you collect them as well.
[00:33:12] It's hard to explain.
[00:33:14] So your main character has the ability to use all of them and then everyone else just has one.
[00:33:19] I'm pretty sure.
[00:33:20] I might be getting mixed up with Shin Megami Tensei.
[00:33:23] But so the thing is that you can mix together the Personas and make a bigger Persona and there's a billion combinations because there's like a thousand Personas or a thousand creatures.
[00:33:37] So that is like a giant hurdle in the game.
[00:33:40] Like when you get to like the mid game and you start fucking with that, you're like, this is the most overwhelming thing I've ever experienced.
[00:33:46] And that does not exist in metaphor at all, which I think is probably what makes it the most approachable of all of the games.
[00:33:54] In that game, it's a lot more streamlined.
[00:33:56] Everybody has the access to the same archetypes.
[00:34:01] And then they have, well, I was about to spoil something.
[00:34:04] But like everyone has the access to the same archetypes, essentially.
[00:34:08] And like they have a default one, but then they can just do whatever they want after that.
[00:34:11] And so you can kind of mix and match everybody.
[00:34:13] Or you can make four mages.
[00:34:15] It doesn't matter.
[00:34:16] Anything that gets you through the fucking zone, right?
[00:34:20] So I really do like metaphor.
[00:34:23] It's the longest game I've ever played in my life.
[00:34:25] Not really, but it's very long.
[00:34:26] And I'm almost done.
[00:34:27] So no one has to hear about it ever again unless somebody comments on that episode.
[00:34:33] It brings it up.
[00:34:34] True.
[00:34:35] True.
[00:34:35] We're always going to go back for some old comments.
[00:34:38] All right.
[00:34:38] And if you want your stuff right on the show, just write in over on Spotify where you can comment on stuff.
[00:34:44] Or do it on YouTube.
[00:34:45] I don't know.
[00:34:46] Not too many people listen to the YouTube videos.
[00:34:49] No, we did our first video episode and it came out pretty good.
[00:34:53] Yeah, it did come out pretty good.
[00:34:54] Didn't have any edits or anything.
[00:34:57] So it's like, it's nice because it like sounded good.
[00:35:01] You know what I mean?
[00:35:02] Besides the fucking, we started like lagging at some points, which is make grinds my ass.
[00:35:07] And there's literally nothing we can do about that though.
[00:35:10] Yeah, there's nothing we can do.
[00:35:11] But, um, oh, and also I would keep freezing because it's from your perspective.
[00:35:16] So low quality too with your not even like 70 P.
[00:35:24] Yeah, low poly knave.
[00:35:26] Yeah.
[00:35:27] I watched this video.
[00:35:28] Uh, this guy code bullet.
[00:35:30] Have you ever heard of this guy?
[00:35:32] I think so.
[00:35:33] Is this the guy that trains AI?
[00:35:35] Yeah.
[00:35:36] He likes to train AI and stuff.
[00:35:37] Oh yeah.
[00:35:37] I've seen some of his stuff.
[00:35:38] One of his early videos, he, he, he was like, I watched this video of like this guy doing a thousand by a thousand Rubik's cube, but like having an AI algorithm do it.
[00:35:47] But he thinks that they just did it and then mixed it up and then played it in reverse.
[00:35:52] And so he's like, I'm actually going to do it.
[00:35:54] Uh, but not with a thousand.
[00:35:56] Cause that's insane.
[00:35:56] My computer will die.
[00:35:57] And, but also the reason why I brought it up is because the video is in like four ADP.
[00:36:02] So you can't even see the Rubik's cube.
[00:36:05] Like it's just dot.
[00:36:06] It's like little pixels.
[00:36:08] Like each pixel has like four squares on it.
[00:36:11] So it's like, like squinting, trying to fucking see.
[00:36:15] Dude.
[00:36:16] I love computer automation of game type stuff like that too.
[00:36:19] Like not just the AI, but I saw a video posted.
[00:36:23] It was pretty recent.
[00:36:24] I don't know who did it.
[00:36:24] I'd find it, but it's about the blue dog in Majora's mask.
[00:36:28] Have you heard about this guy?
[00:36:31] No, that's on.
[00:36:32] That's literally a video.
[00:36:34] I keep, I keep scrolling past on my, on my recommended on YouTube.
[00:36:38] It's, I mean, it's not incredible, but it's just super interesting to know the lengths
[00:36:41] that people have gone through.
[00:36:43] Uh, for listeners that are home, the TLDR is Majora's mask.
[00:36:46] There is a mini game, uh, that is required.
[00:36:49] I think maybe, or might be optional, but the whole premise is you have dog races.
[00:36:54] There's like three gray dogs, three Brown dogs, a golden dog and a blue dog.
[00:37:01] That's it.
[00:37:01] And they all have a base speed stat with gold being the fastest and blue being the slowest.
[00:37:07] But every time you load the area, there's a randomly assigned bonus value.
[00:37:12] And so if you have the mind reading mask or the mask of truth, you can check the dogs to
[00:37:17] see if they think they're fast or not.
[00:37:19] And so if you pick up the fast dog and he's, he goes like, Oh, wow.
[00:37:22] I'm about to burn some rubber or some stupid cheese line.
[00:37:27] And the whole premise is like, Oh, you need to just pick that dog.
[00:37:31] But there's a chance that it goes on the blue dog.
[00:37:34] And even with the speed bonus, the blue dog is too slow to win the race.
[00:37:39] If you pick him, he's like just complete trash.
[00:37:42] So it's like if speed runners are doing it and they go in and they see the blue dog
[00:37:46] is going, I'm about to burn some rubber.
[00:37:48] They will leave the area and come back in.
[00:37:50] So it picks a different dog.
[00:37:53] Anyway, so the video is by Vidya James.
[00:37:55] I found it.
[00:37:57] It's a good name.
[00:37:58] But the whole premise is they were like there.
[00:38:00] What universe exists that the blue dog can win the race?
[00:38:03] So then they basically ran the race like 30,000 times with like the best possible occurrence
[00:38:11] where the blue dog has the speed bonus and the yellow dog has the worst trait.
[00:38:17] And just hoping that by some luck, because it is kind of randomized on how fast they go.
[00:38:24] Like they get a random each frame, like a plus or minus to their speed.
[00:38:29] Just know if they speed up or not.
[00:38:32] And it just so happened that there is a universe exist where the blue dog wins the race.
[00:38:37] So spoilers for that.
[00:38:38] It is possible.
[00:38:39] Well, it's just one in the spoilers in the title.
[00:38:42] It says it's like, oh, the blue dog finally wins.
[00:38:46] That's like the title or something.
[00:38:48] It's a doctor strange, though, where it's like I saw 40 bajillion futures and only one of them we win.
[00:38:54] That's literally the life of this blue dog canonically where the world keeps in.
[00:38:59] Like there's one race where the blue dog wins.
[00:39:02] And I mean, I teared up a little bit thinking about that little guy running every dawn of the final day
[00:39:07] and just trying his best in his little doggy legs, which is always thinking when you're like, I'm at the end.
[00:39:14] And, you know, I got three days left.
[00:39:15] I'm like, oh, dawn of the third day.
[00:39:19] It's about to end.
[00:39:22] Son, son.
[00:39:23] I don't know.
[00:39:24] Three.
[00:39:25] I said three.
[00:39:27] Anyway, click on that link.
[00:39:28] I see.
[00:39:29] I don't know what you said that made that made this video pop up in my head.
[00:39:35] Oh, yeah.
[00:39:36] I am a guitar hero.
[00:39:38] Oh, he's just going to set up like an aim bot for the charts.
[00:39:43] No, this is post that.
[00:39:44] He has already done that.
[00:39:56] That's so stupid.
[00:39:59] Edit that in.
[00:40:00] I think he's, I think I'm going to, I'll go ahead and throw that up in the fucking edit too, just for fun.
[00:40:15] That's a stupid I am a surgeon from the good doctor or whatever.
[00:40:20] Is that what it's called?
[00:40:21] I always forget the name.
[00:40:22] I think that's what it's called because it's supposed to be like the autistic doctor, right?
[00:40:26] Or something.
[00:40:26] Yeah.
[00:40:27] Yeah.
[00:40:28] Or it might just be that's how the edits always come out every time you've linked them to me.
[00:40:33] I think it is genuinely supposed to be artistic or something.
[00:40:37] But anyway.
[00:40:38] All right.
[00:40:39] And what did they buy?
[00:40:41] You said you want to show something off?
[00:40:44] Oh, yeah.
[00:40:45] Besides, I have to open up Steam.
[00:40:47] I bought something on Steam.
[00:40:49] It is.
[00:40:52] It was a visual novel.
[00:40:53] But so somebody was like, hey, there's a.
[00:40:57] Oh, I just opened it up.
[00:40:59] So you just got spoiled for what it is.
[00:41:01] Yeah.
[00:41:01] So somebody was like, hey, I recommend this anime to you.
[00:41:05] So you said you like sad stuff.
[00:41:06] And I was like, yeah, sure.
[00:41:07] And I typed it in.
[00:41:08] It's like planetarian.
[00:41:10] Oh, yeah.
[00:41:11] Planetarium.
[00:41:11] Yeah.
[00:41:12] See this.
[00:41:12] It's about a.
[00:41:14] Wait, don't tell me.
[00:41:15] I want.
[00:41:16] I want.
[00:41:16] I just want to jump in there because she was like, oh, I'm just going to not tell you what
[00:41:19] it's about.
[00:41:20] Just go watch it.
[00:41:21] You're going to like it.
[00:41:21] It's not long.
[00:41:22] And I was like, cool.
[00:41:22] And I Googled it just to see what it looked like.
[00:41:25] And the first thing I saw was like Steam before I even clicked on images.
[00:41:29] It was like Steam.
[00:41:30] And it was like this game on sale.
[00:41:32] Two dollars.
[00:41:33] And I was like, oh, oh, I mean, it's a visual novel.
[00:41:36] I should be able to run that.
[00:41:37] Right.
[00:41:37] I ran mouth watching for crying.
[00:41:39] I was for Christ's sake.
[00:41:42] But OK.
[00:41:43] So my encounter with this series is that it is an anime and it's actually one of the
[00:41:50] lower linguistic level animes because the vocab is not that widespread because I think most
[00:41:57] of it takes place in a planetarium.
[00:41:59] So the language is planetarium based.
[00:42:03] I don't know what that means.
[00:42:05] That's like with the stars, like you're inside of a dome.
[00:42:09] Well, yeah.
[00:42:09] Planetarium is like you go in there and you can see planets.
[00:42:12] And stuff and lasers.
[00:42:14] It's like that part of Final Fantasy VII.
[00:42:17] Which one?
[00:42:18] Which part?
[00:42:19] The part.
[00:42:20] There's a part.
[00:42:20] No, there's a part where you go up into a thing and then there's the planets.
[00:42:25] And then there's the dude who's floating and he's like, oh, the Mako, which goes around
[00:42:29] the earth like that.
[00:42:30] Yeah, it's that.
[00:42:32] Or Terra.
[00:42:32] Actually, I don't think they say that.
[00:42:33] Oh, instead of the old guy, it's a person.
[00:42:39] Yeah, take that, old people.
[00:42:42] No, I just didn't want to spoil anything.
[00:42:45] Anyway, yeah.
[00:42:46] But yeah, so I got that.
[00:42:48] I was like, I was trying to see.
[00:42:50] I don't even know what it's streaming on, but I saw that and I just immediately did it.
[00:42:54] And especially because like on the Steam page, like the reviews, people are like, this is
[00:42:58] short.
[00:42:59] And so I was like, oh, fuck yeah.
[00:43:01] I fucking love to see that.
[00:43:03] You love to see it.
[00:43:04] I might even look at it.
[00:43:06] Do you?
[00:43:06] How many visual?
[00:43:06] You haven't done too many visual novels of Japanese, have you?
[00:43:09] No, I haven't.
[00:43:09] You want to just move on to visual novel?
[00:43:11] I mean, Japanese.
[00:43:13] Japanese chat.
[00:43:13] Yeah.
[00:43:14] So just to get into it, my resolution for last year was, you know, be 12 games, whatever.
[00:43:19] Did that easy.
[00:43:20] And I averaged out to three, about three-ish hours of Japanese average per day.
[00:43:26] And that includes gaming, listening, studying, watching, and reading that I was doing every
[00:43:31] single day, which isn't insane to do three hours a day.
[00:43:35] So I'm not going to go crazy for like my next New Year's resolution.
[00:43:39] Like I'm not going to do like target games or whatever, but I'm going to move.
[00:43:41] I'm going to just aim for like 10% more.
[00:43:44] So I'm going to go for 3.1.
[00:43:46] I don't know, hours a day because I feel like I did a good amount last year.
[00:43:53] But I mean, it seems like a lot.
[00:43:54] No, you've been, you're talking about how you've been going hard lately with your Japanese studies.
[00:43:59] Oh yeah.
[00:44:00] I typed out how my, okay.
[00:44:02] So what it is, is I'm not like necessarily studying.
[00:44:05] I'm like just exposing myself to the language because me and Phillip are approaching this
[00:44:10] from the opposite, completely opposite ends of the spectrum.
[00:44:13] It feels like.
[00:44:15] It's because Phillip is, you're a lot more interested in the words, like in like the
[00:44:20] written language.
[00:44:21] And while I'm more, I'm more interested in, oh yeah.
[00:44:25] Yeah.
[00:44:25] I'm losing the ability to articulate myself in English, honestly.
[00:44:29] But, um, so Phillip, you're like much more interested in the written language, like the words
[00:44:34] themselves.
[00:44:34] And I'm much more interested in like communicating.
[00:44:38] Like I like.
[00:44:39] Oh yeah.
[00:44:39] Definitely.
[00:44:40] Communication is nothing.
[00:44:41] I want to talk.
[00:44:42] Yeah.
[00:44:42] Cause it's like, I'll send you something in Japanese and I'm like, he, he, I'm so smart.
[00:44:46] Phillip's going to know what this is.
[00:44:47] And you're just like to understand a lot.
[00:44:49] And I was like, no, I, what got the, like, I got it.
[00:44:53] I'm going to do.
[00:44:54] Yes.
[00:44:55] I confirm or something.
[00:44:56] I don't know.
[00:44:57] And you're like breaking down the word.
[00:44:58] And I'm like, I've no fucking, I I'm literally moving off of vibes right now.
[00:45:02] I don't, I just, what people tell me, they're like, this works.
[00:45:06] And then I, uh, definitely right.
[00:45:08] But I'm like, man, they just need to grab some kanji.
[00:45:13] Yeah.
[00:45:13] You're using the right words.
[00:45:15] Just not using the kanji with it.
[00:45:16] You're Pokemon talking to me.
[00:45:17] You're, you're hitting me with the Anya speech.
[00:45:20] I put baby with baby babbling.
[00:45:22] Yeah.
[00:45:23] I joined a discord server where like you go in, there's a whole, it's called the English
[00:45:29] Japanese language exchange.
[00:45:31] And it's where a bunch of people are speaking in Jap, a bunch of English people are speaking
[00:45:35] in Japanese and a bunch of Japanese people are speaking in English.
[00:45:37] And so like, you're there to kind of like help each other learn.
[00:45:39] It's really cool.
[00:45:41] And there's like a beginner Japanese chat.
[00:45:44] And like, there are people speaking in kanji.
[00:45:46] I have fucking no idea how they're doing that.
[00:45:48] I mean, probably on the computer.
[00:45:49] Cause on the phone, it is like just hiragana.
[00:45:52] Like, I don't know how to, I don't know how to do anything else.
[00:45:55] Like, I like no matter what I do when I type stuff in, it always comes out and hiragana.
[00:46:01] So that's weird.
[00:46:02] But, uh, so every now and then I join and I just start trying to read like any, like this
[00:46:07] right here says, uh, mon da some that's kanji.
[00:46:19] Or is what is this?
[00:46:21] This looks like something.
[00:46:22] I don't know this symbol very well.
[00:46:23] And there's another kari.
[00:46:26] So that's probably one really big long word that I just fucked up.
[00:46:29] Oh, just go to the bottom.
[00:46:30] Like, uh, itero shy.
[00:46:33] Like that guy, you know, that one, he just said right there.
[00:46:37] Oh, are you in it now?
[00:46:38] Oh yeah.
[00:46:38] I invited you.
[00:46:39] So like that guy right there.
[00:46:40] Yeah.
[00:46:40] So I just go in there and I just look at it every now and then I'm like, these are people
[00:46:43] talking to each other.
[00:46:44] So this is what it looks like, you know?
[00:46:46] And I just kind of understand, but I'm listening to so much as Philip was alluding to before,
[00:46:52] but I don't, this is the thing is I don't understand what I'm listening to.
[00:46:56] So when I'm at work doing my little mail truck thing, I have a Japanese podcast talking
[00:47:01] in my ear.
[00:47:01] You, you, uh, you, you, Nihongo podcast.
[00:47:07] Nihongo podcast.
[00:47:08] Yeah.
[00:47:09] Podcast.
[00:47:10] Oh, you gotta have the O at the end.
[00:47:11] So, you know, you're speaking Japanese.
[00:47:13] The, uh, I had it in here somewhere.
[00:47:16] Where did I write it in?
[00:47:17] Cause I was like, I'm going to do the math.
[00:47:18] And then I didn't know about how much you've listened.
[00:47:22] Oh, right here.
[00:47:23] Uh, in a week.
[00:47:24] So I've listened to 52.
[00:47:25] I've listened to three episodes since yesterday because I did laundry and I was doing all kinds
[00:47:30] of things, just listening to it.
[00:47:31] So that's an hour, like an hour and a half of episode of episodes, but I listened to 52
[00:47:36] and they're on average 30.
[00:47:37] So they vary from like 22 minutes to like 55 minutes.
[00:47:40] So it's somewhere in the 30 minute mark, but if it's just a half an hour, that is what's
[00:47:45] half of 52, uh, that's 26.
[00:47:49] That's 26 hours in one week that I've been like, just listening.
[00:47:54] You know what I mean?
[00:47:56] And so you extrapolate that to like, what is it?
[00:47:59] 52 weeks.
[00:48:00] Like we're talking like 50, I don't know, 500 hours maybe of like listening.
[00:48:08] If I keep this up, which I'm not gonna, because that sounds insane.
[00:48:13] But also that doesn't take into consideration that I'm re-listening the episodes as well.
[00:48:18] Like, like sometimes just one that I've already heard will come on and I won't notice
[00:48:22] until like halfway through when he starts, you know, go on.
[00:48:26] It's important to re-listen because I have also restarted like Nihongo Kon Tepe.
[00:48:30] Like I have restarted that one like three times now and I just keep going back through it.
[00:48:36] And I, you just catch more each time.
[00:48:39] Well, yeah, for sure.
[00:48:40] I don't, that's what I'm saying is like, I don't mind if it goes through again, but like
[00:48:43] some episodes will just replay it.
[00:48:45] Cause like, I'm not listening in like order.
[00:48:48] So I'm just like letting it go to the next episode and then, but it just usually does
[00:48:53] go to their very next episode.
[00:48:55] So I don't know.
[00:48:57] Uh, but I mean, besides that, I'm really just using, I'm trying to use Anki.
[00:49:02] It is much more intimidating than using, uh, Duolingo, but I downloaded a deck that is just,
[00:49:10] just Hiragana, Hiragana, but it's like, it's giving me like sentences and I'm like, like
[00:49:16] I'm staring at it like, whoa, uh, like trying to figure out the deck.
[00:49:21] Yeah.
[00:49:22] Maybe it's supposed to be like literally a beginner deck and like the person that recommended
[00:49:29] downloading, it was like, you just got to keep doing it.
[00:49:32] And I'm like, I believe you because that's honestly what Duolingo does too.
[00:49:37] But it's like, Duolingo is like guiding me.
[00:49:40] And then Anki is like, here you go.
[00:49:42] And then like, you just, you know, well, the problem with Duolingo is that after like chapter
[00:49:46] one, Duolingo doesn't know where to take you.
[00:49:49] So they just start throwing random things to you, but they don't have like a destination
[00:49:54] in mind.
[00:49:55] Whereas like Anki, you can specialize in whatever you want.
[00:49:57] Like, I think you would honestly benefit from if you want to continue down this like super,
[00:50:03] I don't know, like communication based is like flashcards based on sound only.
[00:50:10] Like, cause I have like listening.
[00:50:12] Yeah.
[00:50:13] That are just listening only decks where it's just a play button.
[00:50:16] You press it and then it'll say something and you can be like, did I understand that?
[00:50:19] Yes or no.
[00:50:20] And then you go to the next card because I have like two or three different decks that
[00:50:24] are like that.
[00:50:25] And one of them is based on teasing master Takage-san, which is just the audio clips
[00:50:29] from the show.
[00:50:31] And so I'm literally just memorizing the show at this point.
[00:50:34] And there's some cards that I'm like, oh yeah, I obviously know what they're saying
[00:50:37] without even like having to read anything.
[00:50:40] You can just hear it and know.
[00:50:42] So I think you'd benefit from that more than trying to force yourself to learn vocab in
[00:50:47] Kana.
[00:50:49] Yeah, maybe.
[00:50:51] Because you're going to evolve past Kana and then a lot of this work is going to be
[00:50:54] redundant, I think.
[00:50:57] I don't know.
[00:50:59] I listen to a lot of like random videos that are like, oh, here's how I just turn on
[00:51:05] anything.
[00:51:05] And I'll just like listen to it.
[00:51:06] I don't care who it is.
[00:51:08] People like, but just people that are like, hey, when you're learning Japanese, this is
[00:51:12] like basically what I did or this is what you should do.
[00:51:15] And I don't think I've heard a single one be like, you should skip Hiragana because everyone
[00:51:20] seems to prefer Hiragana over Katakana.
[00:51:24] Well, yeah, Katakana sucks, but you need it as well.
[00:51:27] Like that's what you just need to know all the shapes or all the symbols and their sounds,
[00:51:32] but you don't need to learn words in Hiragana is what I'm saying.
[00:51:37] Because like eventually you can just use kanji and it saves you a lot of steps.
[00:51:42] Yeah.
[00:51:43] But the problem with kanji is that if you don't know the kanji, then you have to look it up
[00:51:48] or say it.
[00:51:49] Yeah.
[00:51:49] Yeah.
[00:51:50] You don't know.
[00:51:50] And then it's like, here's the Hiragana for the kanji.
[00:51:52] And I'm like, I can't read that either.
[00:51:54] Like, I don't know what it is.
[00:51:56] Oh, well, I mean, a lot of it, like listeners, if you're unfamiliar, the three writing systems,
[00:52:03] kanji is the, you know, the big symbols one that the Chinese use.
[00:52:08] Anyways, in Japanese for younger readers and people that might not be familiar with that
[00:52:13] kanji, they put furagana.
[00:52:15] Have you heard about this?
[00:52:17] Yes.
[00:52:17] I've seen that, which is cool because like, I'll see kanji in the furagana up at the top
[00:52:22] and I'm like, Ooh, I can read that.
[00:52:24] I still don't know what that word means, but I can read that.
[00:52:28] Like, that's the weirdest part is that I'm like reading Japanese and I just don't know
[00:52:33] what I'm saying.
[00:52:34] Like, I don't know what I'm reading.
[00:52:36] And I, and because I don't know what I'm reading, I don't know where the words end.
[00:52:41] If it's just in Hiragana, because it's all, there's no spaces.
[00:52:45] So I'm like, just, I'm like, it's like a 58 word, like letter word basically.
[00:52:51] And I have to chop it up.
[00:52:53] If I, if, if I see like a kudasai, I'm like, Oh, ah, I know this, you know, here we go.
[00:53:00] This guy, there's one.
[00:53:01] I recognize that just instant instinctively.
[00:53:04] And I'm like, I know where that one, I know that one's there.
[00:53:07] That's the end of a sentence for sure.
[00:53:09] But, um, yeah, I don't know.
[00:53:11] You see like no in between two like long strings.
[00:53:14] You're like, Oh, this is, these two are probably separate words.
[00:53:18] Yeah.
[00:53:19] And I, I only just learned no in Duolingo after like, I'm on, I'm over, I'm past the hundred
[00:53:25] word hump now, apparently, which I don't know what that means because I don't know if it's,
[00:53:32] if it's like, because it'll be like, sometimes it'll be like, Hey, it's two o'clock and it'll
[00:53:38] be, it'll be like knee in hot and in Hiragana.
[00:53:42] And then there's knee, the kanji.
[00:53:44] And I'm like, why does it have both of them there?
[00:53:46] Am I going to get it wrong?
[00:53:47] If I use the Hiragana, I don't know.
[00:53:49] Like, I don't know why there's two, why they're both in here.
[00:53:53] That's just confusing to me.
[00:53:54] But, um, I don't know.
[00:53:57] Yeah.
[00:53:58] Philip based on my wrench, you, I'm only at 4,892 words.
[00:54:04] That's what I've actually studied.
[00:54:07] I mean, so that's good, right?
[00:54:09] A week, a hundred words.
[00:54:11] I feel like, I mean, if you can keep that up, you can catch me in a year, right?
[00:54:17] Yeah.
[00:54:20] You're in a year.
[00:54:21] Like that's not me catching you.
[00:54:22] You'll be a year ahead when I'm a year ahead.
[00:54:25] I know.
[00:54:25] But the amount of words that I'm going to accumulate is probably much less than the ones you would
[00:54:29] accumulate because I would probably spend more time reinforcing than gathering new words.
[00:54:37] I need to be reinforcing.
[00:54:38] I'm gathering too many new words.
[00:54:41] No.
[00:54:42] Okay.
[00:54:42] It's difficult.
[00:54:43] As someone who's been slightly ahead of you at this point, I think the fire hose method
[00:54:47] is the way to go.
[00:54:49] Because that's, I feel like that's where I've gotten to do the most.
[00:54:52] Because if you spend forever grinding out one little deck or whatever, trying to get every
[00:54:58] word to a hundred percent, like it's going to take so long before you can actually get
[00:55:03] into like real source media materials.
[00:55:05] Whereas if you just blast yourself with everything, some things are just going to stick first
[00:55:10] time and you're going to be like, oh, I'm never going to forget, you know, Toki Toki or
[00:55:14] whatever.
[00:55:15] Like there's so many things that are just going to be super easy.
[00:55:18] A lot of things are going to be hard, but don't worry.
[00:55:20] You'll get a chance to learn them, you know, 500 times because it's going to keep coming
[00:55:24] up if it's actually matters.
[00:55:26] If it doesn't matter, you're going to forget about it and that's fine.
[00:55:30] Yeah.
[00:55:32] It's just weird because that just seems so counterintuitive, but that is also correct
[00:55:37] though.
[00:55:37] It's like if you just do the most common things, which like almost all language learning
[00:55:42] will like almost all methods of language learning is going to direct you that way.
[00:55:47] It's like, just learn the common things.
[00:55:48] Yeah.
[00:55:49] And then like the 6,000 most common words and you're good.
[00:55:52] There's a, there's quite a few, but it's like, you just got to understand that if you start
[00:55:56] wandering off into the fucking woods, you're never going to come back.
[00:55:59] So, and that's how I want to be.
[00:56:02] So it's like, when I'm looking at the fucking, when I'm looking at a sentence, I'm like,
[00:56:05] why?
[00:56:07] Dude, the fucking time telling is what really fucked me over because it's like, it's like
[00:56:12] a mean, a non G non gin this.
[00:56:16] And I'm like, okay, it's two o'clock.
[00:56:18] And then it's like non gin hand this.
[00:56:20] And I'm like, it's two 30.
[00:56:23] I'm like, yeah.
[00:56:24] Gin is there.
[00:56:26] So, but gin means a clock.
[00:56:30] So whenever I, I'm like two 30 o'clock, it's two 30 o'clock and they're like wrong, stupid.
[00:56:36] And I'm like, okay, sorry.
[00:56:39] Yeah.
[00:56:39] I just like, when I see gin, I thought, oh clock.
[00:56:42] And so now every time I see gin, I've trained myself to be like a clock.
[00:56:46] And then they taught me like an hour later, like Han, when it means two 30.
[00:56:49] And it's like, now I'm like struggling desperately with it.
[00:56:53] And then they added soon.
[00:56:55] And about it's like Goro.
[00:56:58] And I'm like, oh, like Goro Majima.
[00:57:00] That means about.
[00:57:01] And then sometimes Goro's in the sentence they want me to use, but the English doesn't have
[00:57:06] the word about in it.
[00:57:07] And I'm like, what does that mean?
[00:57:10] There's how is it possible?
[00:57:12] So that's the other big issue with Duolingo is it forces translation training where you
[00:57:18] might not translate it the same way.
[00:57:19] Like we talked about this before with, uh, Ne and Yo, we were like, I want to say like,
[00:57:26] don't you know, whenever it says like Yo at the end of it and where it's like an emphatic
[00:57:31] statement at the end of the sentence where it's like, oh, they're saying this with like
[00:57:34] excitement.
[00:57:35] Not necessarily like you need to translate this out.
[00:57:38] So like, it's weird how Duolingo forces you into certain translations.
[00:57:45] Another thing is that like, because generally, generally it's okay because of like, you know,
[00:57:51] Japanese doesn't have like he or she or I or something like that.
[00:57:55] I mean, it has like I, but it's like you, whenever they do sentences, it's like, it's,
[00:58:00] it's, it's, uh, it's funny or he's funny or she's funny or like the same sentence.
[00:58:06] Right.
[00:58:07] And it's con and it's contextual, but when you do the translation, it'll always have a
[00:58:12] he or she or it, and I didn't, and they never explained, they didn't explain that.
[00:58:15] And so I was like, why?
[00:58:16] I don't understand.
[00:58:18] And so I had to Google.
[00:58:19] I'm like, where the fuck?
[00:58:20] Like this Duolingo could say he or she, I don't, I'm not seeing the difference between
[00:58:24] he or she in these sentences.
[00:58:26] I'll get like two back to back and it'll be like the same sentence.
[00:58:29] I'm like, I'm freaking out, man.
[00:58:31] I don't know.
[00:58:32] Uh, but he like, I usually in my head, if I have to translate it out, I'm always like
[00:58:37] in regards to what we're talking about and then go into like whatever the sentence actually
[00:58:42] says, which is like, you know, overly wordy and doesn't make sense when you're actually
[00:58:46] translating out.
[00:58:47] But that's almost what I feel like.
[00:58:49] Hey, as for what we are currently discussing.
[00:58:53] Dude, but that's the thing though.
[00:58:54] It's like, I'm stopping, I'm starting to like not pay.
[00:58:57] There's some specific, like it always trains the same things in like groups.
[00:59:02] And then, so when I get into some specific groups, like when it's talking about people,
[00:59:07] like, and it's like, this person is funny and, or like this, like, Oh Moriyoshi.
[00:59:12] Is that funny?
[00:59:14] Like humorous?
[00:59:15] Like Moriyoshi.
[00:59:16] Yeah.
[00:59:16] But I'm not sure about that pronunciation.
[00:59:18] Yeah.
[00:59:19] I don't know.
[00:59:19] I don't remember either.
[00:59:20] Uh, but like, it's like, you know, kakoi.
[00:59:23] How about that?
[00:59:24] I know that.
[00:59:25] That is cool.
[00:59:25] Kakoi, uh, like, uh, kakoi desu ne?
[00:59:28] And I'm like, okay, that was cool.
[00:59:30] Right?
[00:59:31] Yeah.
[00:59:32] So it's like the, like, I forgot where I was going with that.
[00:59:36] I got lost in the Japanese trying to think of a word, but like, you don't know.
[00:59:39] Um, it's difficult, but I'm thinking if I just grind through it.
[00:59:43] Oh, what I was saying was that I blast through that.
[00:59:45] Like, I don't think twice whenever I see those words.
[00:59:48] And, but the problem is it's a lot of, it's all in Romanji.
[00:59:51] So now I'm trying to like more emphasize the hiragana because the hiragana is there as well.
[00:59:57] It's like a Romanji on the top, hiragana on the bottom.
[01:00:00] Um, and then when you translate it, it's the same.
[01:00:02] So I'm like, okay, I'm trying to pay more attention to the hiragana now and not rely so much on the Romanji.
[01:00:10] Um, you can turn Romanji off though.
[01:00:13] I don't think I want to at the moment.
[01:00:16] Well, here's the thing.
[01:00:17] When you, when you do like the hiragana specific training, a lot of it, or not just that, but also the vocab, like they have the vocab flashcards and it will flip on and off the, the Romanji.
[01:00:28] So it'll have like the five, it'll have the five hiragana and then it'll five, it'll have the five, like the sounds.
[01:00:36] Like it'll have like, you press it and it's like, you know, you know, and I'm like, oh, that means where, uh, and then I'm like looking for like, you know what I mean?
[01:00:47] It's, it's pretty cool.
[01:00:49] Like there's a bunch of different things and I'm kind of just letting it guide me.
[01:00:53] You know what I mean?
[01:00:55] Just letting it take me there.
[01:00:57] I don't know.
[01:00:58] I think you should get on, I think you should drop Duolingo like a wet rag and get on a rinse shoe.
[01:01:04] I can use more than one thing.
[01:01:07] Yeah, I guess.
[01:01:09] But rinse, you would literally like, it just lines up things like, Hey, here's your hiragana practice.
[01:01:14] Here's your katakana practice.
[01:01:16] Only do this today.
[01:01:17] And it like literally sets up a schedule and it's like, this is all you have to do today.
[01:01:22] And it will hold your hand the whole way through.
[01:01:25] All right.
[01:01:26] You show me about that.
[01:01:27] I know you already sent it to me, but, um, you teach me about that later.
[01:01:31] I can do both.
[01:01:32] I bet.
[01:01:34] Yeah.
[01:01:35] Like, oh, hold on.
[01:01:38] Like, fuck that up.
[01:01:40] Like I even have it up like right now, throw in the discord and show you.
[01:01:44] It's a little ugly.
[01:01:47] But it lines up.
[01:01:48] It's a lot of ugly.
[01:01:50] Yeah.
[01:01:50] I don't know who does their UI, but it's not good.
[01:01:53] But it's like the W is for words.
[01:01:56] K is for kanjis.
[01:01:57] G is for grammar.
[01:02:00] And it just outlines everything up between N5 to N1.
[01:02:05] And you just do them.
[01:02:07] All right.
[01:02:08] It's on the phone?
[01:02:10] It's on phone and PC.
[01:02:12] Like I usually do both.
[01:02:14] I'm probably don't want to do the PC.
[01:02:16] I don't like sitting at my computer for too long.
[01:02:18] Yeah, probably not.
[01:02:19] I hate sitting here.
[01:02:21] But what I appreciate it is like over Duolingo is Duolingo just seems kind of endless.
[01:02:26] Whereas this, it's like it has a clear point where it's like, stop.
[01:02:31] Like there's no point in you studying anymore today.
[01:02:33] Like you can always study more if you want to.
[01:02:35] But it has clear like jumping off points where it's like, oh, I'm going to go watch an anime now.
[01:02:41] Because I've done all my stuff today.
[01:02:44] I usually don't hit those points because I'm often behind in my studies.
[01:02:48] But yeah, that's something you're probably going to do with like Anki and stuff is when you get behind.
[01:02:57] Some people apparently get upset about that.
[01:02:59] But I don't find it very upsetting.
[01:03:01] Because then you can just grind it to catch up if you want.
[01:03:04] I think I'd probably get upset.
[01:03:07] Because you look on it and I don't know if you can see on the board.
[01:03:09] It's like, oh, for kanji frequency with meaning only.
[01:03:13] I have 799 flashcards due that I'm supposed to do today.
[01:03:19] And I am probably not going to do those today.
[01:03:22] What?
[01:03:23] I know.
[01:03:26] But you can't see when you scroll down.
[01:03:28] But like my master terms, I had, you know, 135 cards due.
[01:03:33] These are the terms that have words that I feel like I know like basically 100%.
[01:03:36] I only see them like once every like year now.
[01:03:40] But I did 135 of those and cleared them all out.
[01:03:44] They were all easy like Inu and stuff.
[01:03:46] But yeah.
[01:03:48] Well, that was one thing too.
[01:03:49] So like, yeah, Duolingo like orders everything by units and then sections.
[01:03:53] So it's like chapters and then paragraphs basically, I guess.
[01:03:57] Yeah.
[01:03:57] So you have like this little path and you're like going down it.
[01:04:00] And I realized that as I went on, because I'm almost at the end of the first section on Japanese.
[01:04:05] And I'm at the very beginning of the last unit is what I'm saying.
[01:04:10] And then like, I was like, why are they getting longer and longer?
[01:04:14] Like this is kind of, it gets weird.
[01:04:15] Because it's like this one's for telling time.
[01:04:17] This one's for helping with traveling.
[01:04:19] This one's talking with your neighbors.
[01:04:20] This one describes your belongings.
[01:04:22] Ask for directions.
[01:04:22] You know what I mean?
[01:04:23] It's like teaching you a bunch of random shit.
[01:04:26] But every now and then it's like, all right, this one is a review for unit 3.
[01:04:32] And so randomly I'll be fucking, randomly I'll be like ordering food again.
[01:04:37] And I'm like, oh, go on.
[01:04:39] I've missed you.
[01:04:40] Like, yeah, we're back.
[01:04:43] But it feels like the more information I'm shoving into my head, the harder it is to retain it.
[01:04:48] Because I, when I see go on, I'm like, oh, thank God.
[01:04:52] Like, I can do this.
[01:04:54] I know I can do this one.
[01:04:57] But, uh.
[01:04:58] So do you have any, like, targets or goals?
[01:05:01] Because, like, whenever I was learning, I had a lot of short-term goals.
[01:05:05] And, of course, the long-term setup.
[01:05:07] Like, oh, this is how many, how much study I want to do.
[01:05:10] How many words I want to learn.
[01:05:11] Like, just so I know if I'm on track or if I'm, like, burning myself out.
[01:05:18] No.
[01:05:19] I just go with vibes.
[01:05:20] I don't know.
[01:05:21] I don't, I'm not very good at goal setting.
[01:05:24] Because that's how you fail.
[01:05:25] Yo, you can't fail if you don't make a goal.
[01:05:27] And so I'm like, alright, I'm just going to do this.
[01:05:30] As long as it's fun.
[01:05:31] If you fail your goal, your goal probably wasn't smart to begin with.
[01:05:34] Do you know about smart goals?
[01:05:36] No.
[01:05:37] I don't know what smart stands for.
[01:05:39] Hold on.
[01:05:39] It's something they teach in the Air Force.
[01:05:42] Smart goals.
[01:05:44] Okay.
[01:05:44] Smart goals are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound.
[01:05:51] So it sounds like your goal was an achievable, Nave.
[01:05:54] Your goal wasn't smart.
[01:05:56] What goal?
[01:05:57] I don't, I don't be setting goals.
[01:05:59] Oh, I fucking failed a goal, actually.
[01:06:01] Just today.
[01:06:03] I've been fucking, dude, I, my gamer score is 666,679.
[01:06:13] I meant to get it to 666,666 across the board.
[01:06:17] I was like, this will look cool.
[01:06:18] And then I fucked it up at some point today.
[01:06:22] Getting a metaphor re-fantastio achievement.
[01:06:24] I guess you're just going to go for 777.
[01:06:26] Yeah.
[01:06:26] I mean, it doesn't feel the same, but I mean, yeah, I guess I'm going to have to.
[01:06:31] I'm really upset.
[01:06:34] And it was like, I was like, I'm going to check.
[01:06:36] I was like, oh, I wonder what the achievements are like for Outlast Trials.
[01:06:39] And then I just saw it.
[01:06:40] Like, I've been, I've actually, no joke, been trying to do that for like five months.
[01:06:46] I fucked my, the last number up specifically.
[01:06:49] It's like, I really had it planned out.
[01:06:52] And then metaphor fucked me over.
[01:06:55] Damn.
[01:06:57] Oh, well.
[01:06:58] Yeah.
[01:06:58] But my goals for Japanese is definitely to improve my communication skills like you're
[01:07:02] working on.
[01:07:03] Because at this point I can watch shows pretty comfortably.
[01:07:06] I can play games consistently, but my output is non-existent as far as like typing or actually
[01:07:13] talking to anyone.
[01:07:14] So I really want to get my listening on point at least so that I can start actively shadowing
[01:07:20] and knowing what I'm saying.
[01:07:23] So I'm really going to hit those, those listening decks that I have.
[01:07:27] Maybe I can link them to you too.
[01:07:30] Yeah.
[01:07:31] Well, you're at a higher level than I am for sure.
[01:07:35] Because I just, I, I shadow quite a bit and I don't know what I'm saying.
[01:07:40] So like, I'm just like shadowing listener is like when you're just listening to someone
[01:07:45] speak native Japanese and then you're just repeating everything you hear.
[01:07:49] And so Philip is probably going to know what he's saying.
[01:07:52] I'm just going to be like babbling basically.
[01:07:56] Literally, actually, I'm literally babbling like a baby.
[01:08:00] I mean, that's fine just to get a hang of the sounds.
[01:08:02] I think that's my issue is like I can do really well watching shows that have Japanese subtitles
[01:08:07] because I can just read along with what they're saying.
[01:08:11] Whereas like if they're just talking, I'm usually pretty lost.
[01:08:14] Unless they say something, say something pretty obvious, like Gohan.
[01:08:17] And I'm like, hell yeah.
[01:08:18] Or Yo-Kai.
[01:08:20] Like that was, that was my favorites.
[01:08:21] I seen that one earlier.
[01:08:22] That's, they say that all the time in Gundam and stuff like that.
[01:08:26] Or like Roger, Roger.
[01:08:27] Yo-Kai.
[01:08:30] Is it Yo-Kai?
[01:08:32] I mean.
[01:08:32] It looks like it says Ri-Yi-Yo-Kai.
[01:08:35] That's what it's spelled like.
[01:08:37] But when they say it, it usually sounds like Yo-Kai.
[01:08:42] I mean, yeah.
[01:08:43] I mean, it's just without the R at the beginning.
[01:08:46] Because yeah, it's spelled out Ri-Yi-Yo.
[01:08:48] Oh, it's literally in Romandji right here.
[01:08:51] Like I can read this.
[01:08:52] Like see, this is the thing, dude.
[01:08:54] Like I'm like, when I watch that Nihongo, U-Yi Nihongo podcast,
[01:08:59] they, I'm like looking at the screen because they have everything they're saying on the screen.
[01:09:03] And I will sometimes start reading it at like before he gets there.
[01:09:08] And then I'll hear him say it.
[01:09:09] And I'm just like, you know what I mean?
[01:09:11] Like, oh my God.
[01:09:13] Yeah.
[01:09:14] It's just part of the learning experience.
[01:09:16] Very fun.
[01:09:17] Yeah.
[01:09:17] Feels good.
[01:09:18] Or, you know, I'll be, I'm playing metaphor and they have like little call outs that they do in the overworld.
[01:09:23] And they're like, John.
[01:09:24] And I'm like, yeah.
[01:09:26] I know.
[01:09:26] Bye.
[01:09:27] Goodbye.
[01:09:27] So I killed someone and they said goodbye.
[01:09:31] Silly.
[01:09:31] You know, it's.
[01:09:33] Dude.
[01:09:33] Every time someone calls out an Ikimashou, I'm like, Ikimashou.
[01:09:37] Let's go.
[01:09:38] Like it feels so good.
[01:09:41] I'm really excited to play the next Yakuza game with like this random like cloud of knowledge that I have.
[01:09:49] Just like hearing them speak, you know, like, I don't know.
[01:09:53] I'm just really excited because that's the thing with the, with the Wat, uh, uh.
[01:09:58] Wakaroo.
[01:10:01] I forget.
[01:10:02] I don't know.
[01:10:03] My brain's overloading right now.
[01:10:05] Or Wakata.
[01:10:05] That's what started our Wakata.
[01:10:07] Yeah.
[01:10:07] Wakata.
[01:10:08] Uh, the.
[01:10:09] I, uh, I get it.
[01:10:11] It's like a past form of to understand, like understood.
[01:10:14] Yeah.
[01:10:15] Or I got it or whatever.
[01:10:17] That's because that's usually what they, they go.
[01:10:19] They go.
[01:10:20] Oh, Wakata.
[01:10:20] Uh, they do the thumbs up and the generic animation they've been using for fucking 25 years.
[01:10:26] Of course.
[01:10:28] But, uh, anyway.
[01:10:31] That was a long section.
[01:10:33] Yeah.
[01:10:33] A long section.
[01:10:33] Um, I'm also kind of probably trying to pick a piano.
[01:10:36] It depends on how far behind I get in my Japanese studies.
[01:10:39] They also got piano on Duolingo.
[01:10:43] So every now.
[01:10:44] Yes, they do.
[01:10:45] Hold on.
[01:10:45] Let me show you it.
[01:10:47] So they introduce it like Guitar Hero.
[01:10:50] Hold on.
[01:10:51] Like legit.
[01:10:52] So you go there.
[01:10:52] And then music.
[01:10:54] And then.
[01:10:56] Or no, I don't want to start that.
[01:10:57] Where's the song?
[01:10:58] There it is.
[01:11:00] So this is Mary Had a Little Lamb.
[01:11:03] Oh my God.
[01:11:03] Yeah.
[01:11:05] Wait, can you hear it?
[01:11:06] That's so funny.
[01:11:07] Yeah.
[01:11:09] Okay.
[01:11:13] Yeah.
[01:11:14] That's beautiful, Nave.
[01:11:15] Incredible.
[01:11:16] Incredible.
[01:11:17] I'm so talented.
[01:11:18] I'm just slow.
[01:11:19] Like I can read music just fine.
[01:11:22] I can't read music.
[01:11:24] I mean, I grew up playing piano.
[01:11:27] I just stopped when I was like 13.
[01:11:29] So I know how to read.
[01:11:31] I just lost any capabilities.
[01:11:33] No, I don't think so.
[01:11:34] I don't think we met till like middle school.
[01:11:39] I don't know what ages and what classes people are in whenever they're that age.
[01:11:44] That's like a fucking blind spot for me.
[01:11:47] Yeah.
[01:11:48] I'm not sure either.
[01:11:50] But yeah, I dropped the piano.
[01:11:51] I'm like, yeah, I'm too busy playing Star Fox 64 to play the piano.
[01:11:58] But now I'm like, man, I wish I kept practicing the piano.
[01:12:01] You should do piano lessons in Japanese.
[01:12:05] You know what I'm saying?
[01:12:07] No.
[01:12:08] I mean, yeah, I guess you could.
[01:12:09] Like learn how to do the piano while you're learning Japanese and then make like a video
[01:12:13] thing where you play, learn piano songs in Japanese.
[01:12:16] Like you're not teaching, but like you're teaching yourself and then just recording it.
[01:12:22] You know, I was thinking, though, like you're talking about like playing the next Yakuza.
[01:12:25] I'm like, how interesting would it be for you to like go line by line through like, I don't know, go back to the beginning like Yakuza zero or something and go line by line, like translating out, trying to understand what they're saying.
[01:12:39] And like, I don't know, stream it or try and teach others or something.
[01:12:43] It'd be difficult, I think, because I feel like if I played Yakuza, there'd be a lot of kanji in it and romaji and shit, especially with all the American characters that show up in every game.
[01:12:55] And I'm just like, I'm sure that it's going to be well, although here's something you can do.
[01:13:01] There is a program called Game to Text and the whole premise is it uses the Google.
[01:13:08] Whatever, like API or whatever to look at video content and you can just scan it on your computer and it will throw it down in your little clipboard.
[01:13:18] With like what kanji it is, and then you can highlight it and be like translate this text so you can see what's going on.
[01:13:25] I started using that in the very beginning, but the problem is, is if the font is goofy in any way, it's not going to be recognized when also it's.
[01:13:35] Oh yeah, I remember a YouTube video was talking about something like this where they were like, it's basically putting it up against its worst nightmare, a captcha.
[01:13:48] That's literally what you do, yeah.
[01:13:51] Yeah, any kind of variation in the font?
[01:13:54] Yeah, it doesn't. It recognizes a lot, but some things get messed up.
[01:13:58] For instance, for some reason, the Pokemon font is just unrecognizable in any of the Pokemon games.
[01:14:04] I don't know why.
[01:14:07] That was another video, like a completely different video, where they were talking about Pokemon and they were like, they've got Pokemon all in here in Ghana, which is beautiful and excellent.
[01:14:16] And they also have spaces in between all the words.
[01:14:20] It's so bad.
[01:14:22] No, but they were like.
[01:14:23] I think of the early Pokemons, it's unreadable.
[01:14:26] But that's what they're saying, that it would be gibberish, because you would be like Pikachu.
[01:14:32] If you didn't know what the concept of Pikachu was, and then Pikachu used Thunderbolt, and you're like, what am I reading?
[01:14:40] Because normally you have Kanji and Hiragana, and you have a bunch of things separating the words.
[01:14:46] One of my biggest issues, though, is the Pokemon moves, because they're only Hiragana.
[01:14:52] And they just look like nonsense, because they also just mix words together like Thundershock, Mudslap, or whatever.
[01:15:00] But it'll just be like a part of the word.
[01:15:02] I'm like, I don't know what he's saying, because I don't know.
[01:15:07] Because I might know the Kanji for Earth, and the Kanji for Slap, but when they just put the Kana in there with no Kanji for Earth Slap or whatever, I can't read it.
[01:15:19] Even though it's something super simple.
[01:15:23] And I hope that I'm going to become an expert in Hiragana.
[01:15:27] I'm not going to use Kanji for years.
[01:15:29] For years, I'm only using Hiragana.
[01:15:33] Whenever I first started, there's a deck that is the FireRed vocab deck.
[01:15:37] That is all of FireRed, only in Kana, vocab flashcards.
[01:15:43] And it is just the grossest thing I've ever seen, because I still have it saved.
[01:15:47] I went back and looked at it, and I'm like, god, this is bad.
[01:15:52] But it has all the Pokemon names, too, in case you want to learn the Japanese name for every Pokemon.
[01:15:57] Which is also nonsense.
[01:15:59] Like, I just can't, I don't know their names.
[01:16:03] Anyway, we were supposed to be getting away from this section.
[01:16:06] I don't know what roped us back in.
[01:16:09] It's so hard not to talk about Japanese.
[01:16:11] Alright, so, listener, this section will likely, this has been overflowing for like two weeks.
[01:16:17] Alright, this is like week two of I'm learning Japanese.
[01:16:19] Phillip is someone I talk to Japanese about.
[01:16:21] I have questions.
[01:16:22] So it's like, it won't be this long every week, I guarantee you.
[01:16:27] Like, it's not going to be this long.
[01:16:29] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[01:16:31] Alright, so let's go to our Patreon section.
[01:16:33] Here at Gaming Together, we work hard to provide excellent co-op content for you, the listener.
[01:16:36] If you have any means, please consider supporting us on Patreon.
[01:16:39] Link in the description.
[01:16:40] Here's a list of our current supporters.
[01:16:42] Jose Martinez, Berserker This, Mr. Quang, Insane Cracker, and Nick and I.
[01:16:45] Thank you for all your support.
[01:16:48] And with that, Nate, let's take a quick break, and then we can get into the meat slash asshole section.
[01:16:54] Music.
[01:16:55] Music placement.
[01:17:01] Not to go back into Japanese talk right away, but I, like, when I look at the mountain of words, it just feels impossible.
[01:17:13] I'm like looking at it now, like, oh my god.
[01:17:16] Like, I'm like, man, it is so hard keeping these 100 words in my head for an extended period of time.
[01:17:23] It's the leaking bucket.
[01:17:24] Was it leaking bucket analogy?
[01:17:26] Where it's like, you just need to fill it up as fast as you can before you forget everything.
[01:17:31] Like, you're always going to forget words.
[01:17:34] And you'll get them back later if you actually need them.
[01:17:36] But there are words that I've forgotten.
[01:17:38] Like, you're hitting me with, like, son or whatever.
[01:17:41] I'm like, man, I haven't used the numbers in a long time.
[01:17:44] Or if I am using the numbers, I'm using the counting numbers, not the number numbers.
[01:17:49] So, I'm like, do you mean me instead of son?
[01:17:52] Son?
[01:17:53] Yeah, like, Philip son.
[01:17:55] Yeah, like, like, son?
[01:17:57] What do you mean, son?
[01:17:58] That's not what we'd use for three days.
[01:18:00] We use me.
[01:18:01] It's just stuff like that.
[01:18:04] Yeah, it is confusing.
[01:18:06] Yeah.
[01:18:07] All right.
[01:18:08] We're back.
[01:18:10] By the way, there is no, if you ever worry about there being too many words, just learn what you can.
[01:18:16] I mean, that's all you can do.
[01:18:18] It's not like the amount of words is going to go down at any point, except in Japanese.
[01:18:23] It seems, supposedly, it is going down.
[01:18:28] Because they've shared a video about Kanakana slowly killing the Japanese language.
[01:18:34] Yeah.
[01:18:35] It was crazy.
[01:18:37] I mean, you saw that the whole video, right?
[01:18:38] Where the people were like, they're like, can we have a conversation without using an English word?
[01:18:43] And then they'll be like, they'll say something like a Japanese version of the English word.
[01:18:48] But you wouldn't consider that English, right?
[01:18:50] They'll be like, restaurante.
[01:18:52] No.
[01:18:52] And you're like, if I heard you, Philip, you, Philip, say, yo, me and Janet went to a restaurante.
[01:18:57] And like, I'm like, what?
[01:19:00] You know what I mean?
[01:19:01] But it's not an accent.
[01:19:03] Podcasto is the Japanese word for podcast.
[01:19:06] Because they don't have the T and then no vowel at the end of it.
[01:19:10] They don't have that sound.
[01:19:11] So it's like, podcasto.
[01:19:13] You know what I mean?
[01:19:14] That's what they just decided on, I guess.
[01:19:16] I don't know.
[01:19:16] And so that is a Japanese version of the word.
[01:19:20] You know what I mean?
[01:19:21] Like, that is a Japanese word.
[01:19:22] But they consider that English.
[01:19:25] But it is a loan.
[01:19:27] It's called a loan word.
[01:19:28] Just like emoji is a loan word in English.
[01:19:32] Like, emoji is a Japanese word.
[01:19:34] I didn't even know that.
[01:19:35] But when you say it, it's like, oh, well, of course.
[01:19:38] It sounds super Japanese now that I've said it.
[01:19:40] But like, emoji, romanji.
[01:19:43] Especially with the romanji, kanji, emoji.
[01:19:45] You know what I mean?
[01:19:46] It's like, obviously emoji.
[01:19:48] But whatever, man.
[01:19:49] I don't know.
[01:19:51] Just learn, I guess.
[01:19:52] I don't know.
[01:19:52] It's not that hard at first.
[01:19:56] But if you got a bad memory, dude.
[01:19:58] I feel like this is making my memory better, though.
[01:20:00] Honestly.
[01:20:00] Honestly.
[01:20:01] Like, fucking stretching it every day.
[01:20:05] It's like, fuck.
[01:20:06] I'm getting stronger.
[01:20:08] Once you do start picking up kanji, every time you see it on anything, you're gonna lock in.
[01:20:13] Like, I cannot do it now.
[01:20:15] Like, it will be at like a restaurant.
[01:20:16] It'll be like a flag with a crab on it.
[01:20:19] And I'm like, Janet, do you know what that flag says?
[01:20:22] And she looks at it, and it clearly says, Connie.
[01:20:25] And I'm like, it says crab.
[01:20:31] It's fucking stupid.
[01:20:33] That's like me with mailboxes now.
[01:20:34] Like, I can see a mailbox.
[01:20:36] I can see a fucking pixel of a mailbox in a picture.
[01:20:39] But in a bush.
[01:20:40] You're really good at the captions.
[01:20:42] Identify the mailboxes.
[01:20:44] Where are the mailboxes?
[01:20:47] Fuck.
[01:20:48] Dude.
[01:20:49] My favorite ones are like the silica packet, which just has all the languages on it.
[01:20:53] And it just says, do not eat.
[01:20:55] Like, Janet, do you know what this says?
[01:20:57] Then you point to the Japanese part of it.
[01:21:00] Even though the English were right next to it.
[01:21:02] To have an eye.
[01:21:05] So stupid.
[01:21:07] God damn it.
[01:21:10] Oh, yeah.
[01:21:11] That's fine.
[01:21:11] All right.
[01:21:11] But we're going online to check the Am I the Assholes of Reddit?
[01:21:15] To see if these gamers need some help.
[01:21:17] Because they probably do if they're posting here.
[01:21:20] This week, we're kind of taking an easy start into the year.
[01:21:24] So we didn't play a game.
[01:21:25] This is just us.
[01:21:26] Relax and have a good time.
[01:21:29] Enjoying our holiday.
[01:21:30] We could have just taken the week off.
[01:21:31] But we're here for you, the listener.
[01:21:37] All right.
[01:21:38] Are there new ones of these?
[01:21:40] I'm trying to see.
[01:21:41] I usually add them near the top middle section.
[01:21:43] Like around, weirdly enough, like five and six and seven range.
[01:21:47] Or 12.
[01:21:48] Oh, yeah.
[01:21:49] I usually add them around 10 for some reason.
[01:21:52] But I haven't really been adding new, new ones yet.
[01:21:57] Let me see.
[01:21:58] So the ones very far down are pretty old.
[01:22:00] Right?
[01:22:01] Yeah.
[01:22:01] Yeah.
[01:22:02] Those ones are real old.
[01:22:02] And so they might not exist anymore.
[01:22:05] Some of these I feel like we didn't mark.
[01:22:07] Or they're weirdly familiar.
[01:22:10] Yeah.
[01:22:11] That happens a couple of times.
[01:22:13] I feel like they might just get put back into the rotation.
[01:22:16] They could be.
[01:22:23] Okay.
[01:22:23] What is this?
[01:22:24] I like number 93.
[01:22:25] You want to read 93 with me?
[01:22:27] Okay.
[01:22:28] Open up 111.
[01:22:29] That's the one I clicked on.
[01:22:31] Said 93.
[01:22:32] Yeah.
[01:22:33] You made it a dark gray.
[01:22:36] Yeah.
[01:22:36] To make sure that we don't actually read it again.
[01:22:40] Okay.
[01:22:40] This is from deleted six years ago.
[01:22:43] Am I the asshole for forcing my stepson seven to finish a level in a video?
[01:22:49] Period.
[01:22:51] Okay.
[01:22:54] He has been already preemptively labeled as not the asshole by Reddit.
[01:22:57] But hold on.
[01:22:58] We'll see.
[01:22:59] You know, he put it up here for a reason.
[01:23:00] He wants judgment.
[01:23:02] My stepson is a constant quitter.
[01:23:05] He wants to do everything until he realizes it takes effort.
[01:23:10] Period.
[01:23:10] Period.
[01:23:11] Today, I was studying while he played the Xbox.
[01:23:15] He was playing the retro Sonic game we got him for Christmas.
[01:23:20] When he plays as long as the game doesn't require any effort, he is cool.
[01:23:26] The moment there is a trick or something to figure out, he goes and grabs his mom.
[01:23:31] So he is playing the game and this wall comes up.
[01:23:34] The trick is to grab a power up and blast through.
[01:23:37] He doesn't realize it, so he runs up the wall for five minutes.
[01:23:41] He doesn't try to figure it out at all.
[01:23:43] So he grabs his mom.
[01:23:45] This time, I call P.S.
[01:23:47] And told him to come back and finish the game.
[01:23:50] Yo, these are the people that we were playing World of Tanks with on the mobile.
[01:23:54] Like, that would just drive past me and I would just shoot them in the ass.
[01:23:59] He said he was done.
[01:24:00] I said, no, you need to figure this out because I'm tired of watching you quit.
[01:24:05] He starts to argue and I cut him off.
[01:24:07] Eventually, he finishes the part.
[01:24:09] I'm not trying to make him think that video games are a chore, but I'm also not trying to raise someone who half-asses everything.
[01:24:16] TLDR, my stepson tries to quit all the time, so I made home finish a level.
[01:24:28] Okay.
[01:24:29] Yo, you're lagging.
[01:24:30] So when you left just then, it made like a Casper sound.
[01:24:35] Like all the laughs flooded into each other.
[01:24:38] Only I heard that.
[01:24:40] That's going to come out perfect in the recording.
[01:24:43] All right.
[01:24:43] Do the edit.
[01:24:44] Or do you want to start?
[01:24:46] So I will go into it first.
[01:24:49] So forcing a seven-year-old to finish a Sonic level.
[01:24:51] This is from six years ago.
[01:24:54] I don't know what Sonic games released in 2018.
[01:25:01] Oh, he says it's a retro one and it's on Xbox.
[01:25:04] So it could be a backwards compatible like older one.
[01:25:08] Here it is.
[01:25:09] Sonic in 2018, apparently Sonic Mania Plus released.
[01:25:14] Oh, okay.
[01:25:15] That's retro.
[01:25:17] Sonic Ages Sonic the Hedgehog released for Nintendo Switch.
[01:25:22] But he's playing on Xbox.
[01:25:24] So I'm thinking it's got to be Sonic Mania Plus, which is the retro one.
[01:25:35] Yeah, I concur.
[01:25:36] That's the only one that released that year.
[01:25:38] That'd be relevant.
[01:25:41] So, have you played Sonic Mania?
[01:25:45] A little bit.
[01:25:46] Because we were like, this is the truth.
[01:25:47] And I played it and I was like, oh man, it's Sonic.
[01:25:51] And so I just stopped playing.
[01:25:52] It's just Sonic.
[01:25:54] It wasn't.
[01:25:54] It's not game shattering or whatever, you know, game breaking.
[01:25:57] It's just Sonic.
[01:26:00] Sonic Mania Plus.
[01:26:30] Now, see, you're saying seventh grade.
[01:26:33] We're fucking Jap-
[01:26:35] Dude, Japanese is breaking our fucking heads.
[01:26:38] Second grade.
[01:26:39] You're saying baby mode.
[01:26:40] You're barely out of kindergarten.
[01:26:43] Yeah, I mean, I think I was like first grade when I was playing Torok and Tony Hawk and shit.
[01:26:48] I would have fucking destroyed Sonic, dude.
[01:26:52] In fact, I definitely had played Sonic by then.
[01:26:55] And, um...
[01:26:57] Assassin.
[01:26:58] Do you see this shit?
[01:26:59] Yeah, your dog sat on your shoulder and gave you a little lick.
[01:27:02] Yeah, Luna...
[01:27:03] Luna is fucking massive.
[01:27:05] And she's got paws the size of my face.
[01:27:07] So...
[01:27:08] When she wants my attention, she just jumps up in my chair.
[01:27:12] But, um...
[01:27:12] I had definitely played Sonic by now.
[01:27:15] Like, by that time.
[01:27:16] And so...
[01:27:17] And I didn't like it.
[01:27:18] Like, cause it...
[01:27:18] I preferred Mario.
[01:27:20] Like, Super Mario World.
[01:27:21] Yeah.
[01:27:24] But not because Sonic was hard.
[01:27:26] Sonic was...
[01:27:27] It felt like Sonic was harder.
[01:27:29] Like, in...
[01:27:29] Sonic is harder than Mario games.
[01:27:31] In my mind.
[01:27:33] But, um...
[01:27:34] I just...
[01:27:35] I didn't like going...
[01:27:36] I loved going fast.
[01:27:37] And then it would stop me.
[01:27:39] And so I'm like, why?
[01:27:41] Why are you stopping me?
[01:27:42] I want to keep going fast.
[01:27:44] Why?
[01:27:47] It just seems very counterintuitive.
[01:27:51] So, I actually have a bit of a story for this one.
[01:27:53] Do you remember the game Human Fall Flat?
[01:27:56] Yes.
[01:27:57] So, I played that with my...
[01:27:59] I think she was...
[01:28:00] Maybe eight or nine at the time.
[01:28:02] My middle daughter.
[01:28:04] And...
[01:28:05] I didn't help her climb.
[01:28:07] But I told her how to do it.
[01:28:09] And she learned to climb just fine in that game.
[01:28:12] And that is not easy.
[01:28:14] At first.
[01:28:15] Yeah.
[01:28:17] And I've since taught many people how to play Human Fall Flat.
[01:28:20] Because I always force people to play that game with me.
[01:28:22] But it's...
[01:28:23] It's not intuitive.
[01:28:26] And...
[01:28:26] But you need to know how to do it to play the game.
[01:28:29] And it's a game that she enjoyed watching me play.
[01:28:31] So, I forced her to basically...
[01:28:34] If you want to play the game, then you need to play the game.
[01:28:37] I'm not going to climb for you on every level.
[01:28:40] Or, like, barrier.
[01:28:42] So, I'm actually pretty much on this guy.
[01:28:45] What is his side to help, I don't know, increase the gaming capabilities of this child?
[01:28:53] If you're watching somebody, like, show, like, quitting behavior.
[01:28:58] I think that you should probably step in.
[01:29:01] Like, a kid.
[01:29:02] I mean, when I say somebody.
[01:29:04] If you're, like...
[01:29:04] If it's a kid, you're, like...
[01:29:06] If it's, like, a brother or a cousin or your daughter or son.
[01:29:09] Like, you should probably start to correct that behavior a little bit.
[01:29:13] Um...
[01:29:13] I can't tell if this person's being, like, kind of mean or not.
[01:29:18] I mean, it sounds like he's being pretty stern.
[01:29:21] Yeah, he's definitely being...
[01:29:22] Because he's, like...
[01:29:23] If he called bullshit...
[01:29:25] He's, like, bullshit!
[01:29:26] You're gonna beat this level!
[01:29:27] And, you know what I mean?
[01:29:28] It's, like, oh...
[01:29:29] Well, okay.
[01:29:30] I guess maybe.
[01:29:31] Because that's gonna make him not want to play the game a little bit.
[01:29:35] But...
[01:29:36] I don't know what you do.
[01:29:37] Because I've never been like this.
[01:29:39] I've always been the kind of kid that's, like...
[01:29:41] Oh, I want to fucking do it myself.
[01:29:43] You know what I mean?
[01:29:44] So, it's hard for me to empathize with that.
[01:29:46] And I've also never been around people who just want to quit.
[01:29:51] Okay.
[01:29:52] Actually, no.
[01:29:53] That's not true.
[01:29:54] So, I'll...
[01:29:54] You know, I...
[01:29:55] You've played rock band with me.
[01:29:57] I mean, you've always been around the same level of rock band as me.
[01:29:59] Like, the whole time we were growing up.
[01:30:02] I'm not saying the same level.
[01:30:02] I just mean capable.
[01:30:04] Well, like, you're not playing on, like, medium.
[01:30:06] You know?
[01:30:06] We're all playing on Expert at the Phillip household.
[01:30:09] Well, over here, my friends...
[01:30:11] They would start on, like, medium.
[01:30:13] And they're, like, doing poorly.
[01:30:14] And it was really difficult for them.
[01:30:15] Because I'm over there, like, fucking playing Beast and the Harlot on the drums on Expert.
[01:30:21] And they're hitting one note a second.
[01:30:22] You know what I mean?
[01:30:24] It's, like...
[01:30:24] It feels like shit.
[01:30:26] And that kind of makes people want to quit just by intimidation.
[01:30:33] Like...
[01:30:33] I don't want to drag this, like, whole thing down.
[01:30:37] I feel like that...
[01:30:38] I should quit because I don't want this to be worse.
[01:30:42] You know what I mean?
[01:30:44] But even in that situation, you should encourage the people, you know?
[01:30:47] Like, you should just be like, no, no, no.
[01:30:49] Definitely keep going.
[01:30:50] You know what I mean?
[01:30:51] The only way you're gonna get better is if you just keep trying to do it.
[01:30:55] I think it does suck because we do seem to be people that are willing to, um...
[01:30:59] I don't know, suffer.
[01:31:01] Yeah.
[01:31:02] Where...
[01:31:04] Like, we seem to be on that road.
[01:31:07] We study Japanese.
[01:31:08] You play guitar and study Japanese now.
[01:31:10] You grind achievements that are not very fun.
[01:31:14] So we don't have a lot in common with this child.
[01:31:19] Let's check the edit.
[01:31:21] I stopped trying to argue because people are gonna have their opinions.
[01:31:25] Okay, well, I mean...
[01:31:26] But he was labeled not the asshole.
[01:31:28] Yeah, I know everyone...
[01:31:29] But I think people were coming at him.
[01:31:31] Anyways, he says,
[01:31:32] I love my son and I will raise him to the best of my ability to be a man.
[01:31:36] Alright, hold on.
[01:31:37] We gotta...
[01:31:38] We can't say that anymore.
[01:31:40] Six years ago.
[01:31:41] It was alright back then.
[01:31:42] Oh, it was okay then.
[01:31:43] Okay.
[01:31:44] You say it's...
[01:31:44] Swip is a coursing river, you know?
[01:31:47] You say it's just a game?
[01:31:49] Well, guess what, bucko?
[01:31:50] It's not cheap.
[01:31:52] Alright, he didn't say bucko.
[01:31:53] But it feels like he...
[01:31:55] That was the tone I'm getting.
[01:31:56] It's not just the game.
[01:31:57] Wait, can I read this?
[01:31:59] Yeah, you can read it.
[01:31:59] I wanna read this.
[01:32:00] Alright.
[01:32:01] You say it's just a game?
[01:32:03] Well, guess what?
[01:32:04] It's not just the game.
[01:32:06] It's the schoolwork I've coached him through because he was failing.
[01:32:09] It's the chores I had to get him to try.
[01:32:13] It's every bottle I have ever opened because he didn't feel like trying.
[01:32:18] I didn't...
[01:32:19] My throat's already hurting.
[01:32:21] I didn't force it down his throat.
[01:32:23] I taught him that if he actually applies himself, he doesn't have to back down from any challenge.
[01:32:29] To the people who said he's just seven, I now understand where immature, lazy, and shitty adults come from.
[01:32:38] Parents like you who don't...
[01:32:40] Recognizing that parenting isn't just about having fun.
[01:32:45] It's about grooming and preparing them for life.
[01:32:50] You can't say that.
[01:32:51] You can't say that either.
[01:32:52] The most important thing I've ever learned at the end of the day.
[01:32:58] The...
[01:32:58] Weird, weird sentence.
[01:32:59] The end of the day.
[01:33:00] The only person you can truly count on is yourself.
[01:33:04] Eventually, one day or another, you will have to stand on your own two feet.
[01:33:10] I mean, he must have typed that...
[01:33:12] Being Sonic the Hedgehog.
[01:33:14] He must have typed that with that energy because of the fucking...
[01:33:18] The run-on sentences.
[01:33:20] The fucking...
[01:33:21] So funny.
[01:33:22] The misspellings?
[01:33:23] Oh, yeah.
[01:33:25] All right.
[01:33:26] Yeah, I don't think this guy's the asshole.
[01:33:28] And I don't know if he's too hard on him.
[01:33:30] I don't think so.
[01:33:33] It's kind of...
[01:33:34] He sounds like he's very passionate at the end.
[01:33:36] You know what I mean?
[01:33:37] Which almost weighs me.
[01:33:40] Like, you know, I have kids.
[01:33:42] And my oldest one, my 17-year-old, will ask for things.
[01:33:46] And it's just like random stuff.
[01:33:48] And so I have actually capitulated.
[01:33:50] And so she gets one a day.
[01:33:52] She can ask me for like one thing a day.
[01:33:54] Like opening a bottle or something like that.
[01:33:57] Anything else, I'm not doing it.
[01:33:59] It's like, Dad, can you hand me a paper towel, Dad?
[01:34:02] And I'm like, here's one.
[01:34:04] She just starved to death in the middle of the floor with a jar.
[01:34:10] Written in Romangi.
[01:34:12] Like, fucking...
[01:34:13] I always said Romangi.
[01:34:15] This is your fault, Dad.
[01:34:19] Because I wouldn't open the pickle jar.
[01:34:21] Yeah.
[01:34:22] She just needed pickles.
[01:34:24] She didn't want to eat anything else.
[01:34:26] That's what my dogs have to like, dude.
[01:34:28] When they're like...
[01:34:29] I give them their fucking food.
[01:34:31] And they're like, no.
[01:34:32] I want that rice and chicken and eggs you had an hour ago.
[01:34:35] That's what I want.
[01:34:36] Go make me that.
[01:34:38] They won't eat until like...
[01:34:40] It's obvious I'm not going to give them anything else.
[01:34:42] Yeah.
[01:34:44] Yeah.
[01:34:44] So no assholes here?
[01:34:47] Yeah.
[01:34:48] I mean, I don't think so.
[01:34:49] You can be a little easier on them.
[01:34:50] But you know what it is?
[01:34:51] I think it was another asshole we did.
[01:34:53] But it's like one of the conclusions we came to.
[01:34:57] So it's not a unique one.
[01:34:58] But what if you were like, we're not going to buy you another game until you beat this one?
[01:35:03] You know what I mean?
[01:35:05] Like beat Sonic and then that's when you get your next game.
[01:35:07] You're not getting another one.
[01:35:08] I mean, that's very fair.
[01:35:12] One thing though is that I never beat games when I was a kid.
[01:35:15] Like I never beat Torok.
[01:35:17] I never got past the second level in Torok.
[01:35:19] What if your parents just didn't encourage you enough to complete them?
[01:35:22] I don't think my parents really wanted me to play Torok.
[01:35:25] Like honestly, when they saw the first, I still remember.
[01:35:29] It's burned.
[01:35:31] It's burned into my head the first time my dad watched me shoot a dude.
[01:35:34] And then he started bleeding from his neck.
[01:35:35] And he's like,
[01:35:38] And he falls over.
[01:35:40] It looks so shitty by modern standards.
[01:35:43] But like it is.
[01:35:44] Or like when you shoot a fucking dinosaur and it like starts squirming on the ground.
[01:35:48] And you're just like,
[01:35:49] I don't know if you should be playing this, son.
[01:35:51] You're in kindergarten.
[01:35:53] I don't know if you should be doing this.
[01:35:54] You're shooting dinosaurs with realistic blood.
[01:35:58] Yeah.
[01:35:58] But then they saw me scared of the cave because the music changed.
[01:36:02] And they were like,
[01:36:03] Ah, he'll be alright.
[01:36:04] And I get the music, it's creepy.
[01:36:06] And I'm like,
[01:36:06] Oh no.
[01:36:08] Yeah.
[01:36:09] That's how I was with like Banjo-Kazooie for a long time.
[01:36:11] Because it's like,
[01:36:12] As soon as you go up the spiral mountain,
[01:36:14] The music changes and it gets all spooky when you go in the witch's cave.
[01:36:17] And I'm like,
[01:36:18] I don't know if I can play this game anymore.
[01:36:20] Yeah.
[01:36:22] Dude, I don't remember.
[01:36:23] I think it was Chris Raygun who was like,
[01:36:25] He played the beginning of Bioshock.
[01:36:26] And he's like,
[01:36:27] Nuh-uh.
[01:36:28] I can't.
[01:36:28] And he's like,
[01:36:29] He just didn't play Bioshock for years.
[01:36:31] Before after the injection scene.
[01:36:32] Like, I think it was before the injection scene.
[01:36:34] It's like the person banging on the bathysphere.
[01:36:37] Like,
[01:36:37] Like the beginning,
[01:36:38] Beginning.
[01:36:38] And he's like,
[01:36:39] I can't do this.
[01:36:40] He like played the demo.
[01:36:42] He like,
[01:36:42] He didn't play the full Bioshock.
[01:36:44] He was like,
[01:36:44] This game is too much.
[01:36:47] Too realistic.
[01:36:47] Which is hilarious.
[01:36:48] Because,
[01:36:49] You know,
[01:36:49] I'm playing Outlast Trials with Casey.
[01:36:51] And she is like,
[01:36:53] Freaking out over everything.
[01:36:54] And I am just like,
[01:36:56] Can you give me the antidote?
[01:36:57] Give me the antidote.
[01:36:58] Please give me.
[01:36:59] I'm watching the scary man come to me.
[01:37:01] I'm hallucinating.
[01:37:02] Like,
[01:37:02] There's this,
[01:37:03] You go into psychosis.
[01:37:05] And there's the scary man who starts walking towards you.
[01:37:08] And I'm like,
[01:37:09] Antidote.
[01:37:10] Antidote.
[01:37:10] Give me the antidote.
[01:37:12] I need an antidote.
[01:37:13] But,
[01:37:14] Like,
[01:37:14] She's like,
[01:37:15] I just see her Scooby Doo scream run past,
[01:37:18] Like,
[01:37:18] A fucking hallway.
[01:37:19] You know?
[01:37:19] I don't know.
[01:37:20] It's fun.
[01:37:20] I legit got jump scared because,
[01:37:22] Like,
[01:37:23] There,
[01:37:24] When you're in psychosis and you open a door,
[01:37:26] There's a chance that the scary man shows.
[01:37:28] I don't know what his name is.
[01:37:29] I've been calling him the scary man.
[01:37:31] But,
[01:37:31] It's gotta be it.
[01:37:32] He just jumps at you.
[01:37:33] Canonically.
[01:37:33] Like,
[01:37:34] From behind the door.
[01:37:35] Because the thing is that you can open doors and slowly open them up.
[01:37:38] If you hear shit.
[01:37:39] And like,
[01:37:40] So,
[01:37:40] You don't just make noise and get caught.
[01:37:43] And so I,
[01:37:43] I would slowly open it up.
[01:37:45] And he'll rip it open.
[01:37:46] And be like,
[01:37:46] Booga booga booga.
[01:37:47] And I'm like,
[01:37:48] Ah!
[01:37:49] And then,
[01:37:49] You know?
[01:37:51] But it really jumps scares me every time.
[01:37:55] Alright.
[01:37:55] What you got here?
[01:37:56] This guy's not an asshole.
[01:37:57] This one's more fresh.
[01:37:59] Um,
[01:38:03] I think I closed it.
[01:38:05] Where'd it go?
[01:38:06] Oh,
[01:38:07] I pulled it down.
[01:38:08] Dude,
[01:38:08] My fucking mouse double clicking is making me want to fucking go insane.
[01:38:12] Before we get too far away though,
[01:38:13] There is one last bit in his edit that could make this guy an asshole.
[01:38:16] Where he's like,
[01:38:17] This is,
[01:38:17] This is,
[01:38:18] We're raising a nation of squibs.
[01:38:20] This is where I get off.
[01:38:24] Yeah,
[01:38:24] He fucking went off on everybody.
[01:38:26] That's so funny.
[01:38:27] Even though it seemed like the majority of people were on his side.
[01:38:31] Alright,
[01:38:31] Anyways,
[01:38:31] Back to this guy.
[01:38:32] This guy's posting in Terraria,
[01:38:36] Overwatch,
[01:38:37] Binding of Isaac.
[01:38:38] Yams,
[01:38:39] LOL.
[01:38:41] He's posting in Roblox?
[01:38:43] Oh,
[01:38:43] God.
[01:38:44] He's,
[01:38:44] He's posting in Roblox avatars and raiding people's avatars.
[01:38:48] 5 out of 10.
[01:38:50] Bland.
[01:38:52] Oh my God.
[01:38:52] No.
[01:38:53] Did you read any of these?
[01:38:54] Look,
[01:38:55] Overwatch 2.
[01:38:56] He has a post in Overwatch 2.
[01:38:58] Does Blizzard hate me?
[01:38:59] I play a lot.
[01:39:01] I win a bunch of games.
[01:39:02] I don't lose too often.
[01:39:05] And I stay silver for,
[01:39:07] Yet the enemy team is filled with top 500s.
[01:39:10] What do I do to escape silver?
[01:39:12] Felt brother.
[01:39:14] League of Legends over here.
[01:39:16] Worst teammates.
[01:39:17] They give you,
[01:39:17] They give you the worst teammates.
[01:39:18] This could be a troll post.
[01:39:20] You think so?
[01:39:21] Yeah,
[01:39:22] no way that one's this is,
[01:39:24] Because this is everybody's question.
[01:39:29] This person's posting in a lot of things.
[01:39:31] For years.
[01:39:34] God.
[01:39:35] For multiple years.
[01:39:41] What do you think?
[01:39:42] The troll post is this?
[01:39:43] The thing that I chose?
[01:39:45] No,
[01:39:46] maybe,
[01:39:47] I don't know,
[01:39:47] we can see.
[01:39:47] Or the Overwatch thing.
[01:39:49] I mean,
[01:39:55] I'm glad someone else can agree that Lucio is the hottest Overwatch character.
[01:40:01] Same.
[01:40:02] Wait,
[01:40:03] how old is Lucio?
[01:40:04] Is that a child?
[01:40:06] He's the,
[01:40:07] he's the roller skate guy.
[01:40:11] 28 years old.
[01:40:12] We're good.
[01:40:13] I just remember he's short.
[01:40:14] That's the only thing.
[01:40:15] Is that he's shorter than everybody else.
[01:40:19] All right.
[01:40:19] Um,
[01:40:20] would I be the asshole if I stop my nephew's show so I can play a game?
[01:40:27] Okay,
[01:40:27] quick backstory.
[01:40:28] This is a really short post.
[01:40:30] So,
[01:40:30] some of this is dedicated to backstory.
[01:40:32] Yeah.
[01:40:33] Uh,
[01:40:33] my sister,
[01:40:34] 24 female,
[01:40:35] and her BF,
[01:40:36] 25 male,
[01:40:37] have been living in our parents' house for about a month.
[01:40:40] We have two TVs in the living room.
[01:40:42] A large TV that my sister is using to let her,
[01:40:44] her son,
[01:40:45] three years old,
[01:40:46] uh,
[01:40:47] watch shows on and my TV,
[01:40:49] which I use to mainly play games on.
[01:40:52] Okay.
[01:40:52] So now to today,
[01:40:53] my sister has been a Bethesda fan forever now.
[01:40:57] And since Starfield recently came out,
[01:40:59] she has been playing it nonstop,
[01:41:02] leaving her son to be bored and angry.
[01:41:05] She resently.
[01:41:09] She resently has recently started.
[01:41:12] Yeah,
[01:41:12] recently.
[01:41:13] Uh,
[01:41:13] but I like to say,
[01:41:14] I like to think she's resentful against.
[01:41:17] Yeah.
[01:41:18] Yeah.
[01:41:18] She resently has started to use my TV and Xbox to let her son watch stuff while I'm at school,
[01:41:25] which I'm fine with.
[01:41:26] However,
[01:41:27] it's the weekend and I am left with nothing to do.
[01:41:29] My friends are all playing stuff.
[01:41:31] I can't go outside because it's so hot and nobody will hire me so I can work.
[01:41:37] Oh no.
[01:41:39] I can always just start playing,
[01:41:41] but I feel like I'll be rude.
[01:41:43] Dude,
[01:41:44] I can't take my Xbox to my room because I don't have a TV in there.
[01:41:48] I'm left with two options.
[01:41:49] Let him watch his show or take over the TV.
[01:41:53] Sorry if I don't post correctly or anything.
[01:41:56] I'm still new to Reddit.
[01:41:57] If I didn't post correctly.
[01:41:59] Okay.
[01:42:00] So,
[01:42:01] this is in the wrong subreddit,
[01:42:03] right?
[01:42:03] Because would I be the asshole's a different subreddit?
[01:42:06] Uh,
[01:42:07] no,
[01:42:07] you can post them in am I the asshole.
[01:42:09] All right.
[01:42:09] So the issue,
[01:42:12] this is,
[01:42:13] this is really strange because it's like they have two TVs in there.
[01:42:18] And I guess one is always,
[01:42:20] Oh,
[01:42:21] she's playing Starfield.
[01:42:23] Yeah.
[01:42:23] He wants to play something else.
[01:42:25] Okay.
[01:42:26] Uh,
[01:42:26] that's what he was saying.
[01:42:27] He said the thing that his friends are playing games.
[01:42:29] Like that's what he wants to do is play with them.
[01:42:32] Then I say play with them because like,
[01:42:34] kick that kid off.
[01:42:35] Dude,
[01:42:36] kick the kid off.
[01:42:37] Like it doesn't seem like she's momming very well.
[01:42:40] If she's just letting her kid brain rot watching TV while she plays the crap out of Starfield,
[01:42:46] like that's not his responsibility.
[01:42:48] You know,
[01:42:49] like if he gets on and the kid starts raising hell or something like that,
[01:42:52] then she's going to have to stop playing Starfield and handle it.
[01:42:56] Spoken like a true parent.
[01:42:58] Dude.
[01:42:59] I mean,
[01:42:59] I actively avoid letting my kid watch TV when I can.
[01:43:04] Like,
[01:43:05] I try to minimize that,
[01:43:06] which probably the weirdest ones is like maybe once in the morning,
[01:43:10] I'm like time for Saturday morning cartoons.
[01:43:12] If I have the day off or whatever,
[01:43:14] and we'll literally watch one of my animes in Japanese,
[01:43:17] but it's always,
[01:43:19] you know,
[01:43:19] like low powered,
[01:43:20] like from me to you romance or something like that.
[01:43:24] And they're like,
[01:43:24] he doesn't understand what's happening.
[01:43:25] He's just watching the flashing lights.
[01:43:27] And then we move on after one episode.
[01:43:30] So that's 22 minutes of show.
[01:43:32] So it's like,
[01:43:34] I don't know.
[01:43:35] Like,
[01:43:35] I just don't expose my kid to that much TV.
[01:43:39] Like we'll do a movie.
[01:43:40] Yeah.
[01:43:40] It's probably a,
[01:43:41] but I try to avoid it.
[01:43:44] I usually,
[01:43:45] I was like an hour a day.
[01:43:46] If that.
[01:43:48] I am brain rotted and I was raised by the TV.
[01:43:51] So I am fucking mind melted.
[01:43:54] Same.
[01:43:54] I remember my,
[01:43:55] my,
[01:43:56] uh,
[01:43:57] my dad had this,
[01:43:58] had a kid.
[01:43:58] Um,
[01:43:59] his name was Isaiah.
[01:44:01] It is still Isaiah.
[01:44:03] Uh,
[01:44:03] his name is currently Isaiah,
[01:44:05] but,
[01:44:05] uh,
[01:44:06] he,
[01:44:06] when he was a baby,
[01:44:07] he would,
[01:44:08] his mom would bring him into my room and just like leave him in there.
[01:44:13] And she'd just be like,
[01:44:14] Hey,
[01:44:14] watch him.
[01:44:15] I'm like,
[01:44:15] uh,
[01:44:16] okay.
[01:44:17] I'll be like rock playing rock band or something.
[01:44:18] And he would sit like an inch from the TV and just like watch rock band.
[01:44:23] And he was like a crawling around goo goo gaga baby.
[01:44:26] But he was like,
[01:44:26] like two years old.
[01:44:28] He was like,
[01:44:29] what the fuck is this?
[01:44:31] Like he just would watch.
[01:44:32] And then he'd like point and like turn around and look at me.
[01:44:35] And I'd just be like red.
[01:44:38] And he'd be like,
[01:44:39] yeah.
[01:44:40] Like,
[01:44:40] I don't,
[01:44:41] yeah.
[01:44:44] But he would do that for like 40 minutes straight.
[01:44:47] He would just stare at rock band.
[01:44:48] And ever since then,
[01:44:49] I'm just like,
[01:44:50] this is scary.
[01:44:52] Like TV is scary for children.
[01:44:54] Not only is like,
[01:44:55] but that was before like tablets.
[01:44:57] You know what I mean?
[01:44:58] Yeah.
[01:44:59] No,
[01:44:59] it's just iPad kids.
[01:45:01] Yeah.
[01:45:02] Oh,
[01:45:02] but that guy,
[01:45:03] back in my day,
[01:45:04] tell mom to get an iPad.
[01:45:05] And if she really wants to just brain water,
[01:45:07] on her kid,
[01:45:08] get them on YouTube.
[01:45:10] YouTube kids,
[01:45:12] Spider-Man's pregnant with Elsa's baby or whatever.
[01:45:14] The stupid thing is.
[01:45:16] Yeah.
[01:45:17] I think they're,
[01:45:18] they moved on to something else.
[01:45:20] Oh yeah.
[01:45:20] Shrek's and Roblox.
[01:45:22] I don't know.
[01:45:23] Can you just look at YouTube for your kids and see what does it look like?
[01:45:26] I don't know.
[01:45:27] Probably,
[01:45:28] but I don't know how to pull it up and I'm not getting into it.
[01:45:30] I don't.
[01:45:30] YouTube kids.
[01:45:31] YouTube kids.
[01:45:34] Get a,
[01:45:35] get a parent to set up YouTube kids.
[01:45:37] I'm a parent.
[01:45:38] Fuck you.
[01:45:39] Oh no.
[01:45:40] You got to make,
[01:45:41] I'm not doing this.
[01:45:42] Yeah.
[01:45:42] You have to like fucking put a phone number in or something.
[01:45:44] I don't know what the fuck that was.
[01:45:46] All right.
[01:45:46] Goodbye.
[01:45:48] Anyway.
[01:45:49] Um,
[01:45:49] yeah,
[01:45:49] just use the TV.
[01:45:50] Fuck it.
[01:45:50] You,
[01:45:51] you're going to be kind of rude.
[01:45:53] Cause your sister's going to be like,
[01:45:54] fuck you.
[01:45:55] But like,
[01:45:56] you know,
[01:45:57] be a mom.
[01:45:57] Oh my God.
[01:45:58] Look at this.
[01:45:59] It's not even their house there.
[01:46:01] Everyone is living with the parents.
[01:46:04] Yeah.
[01:46:05] So these are all like,
[01:46:06] it didn't say how old he is.
[01:46:07] Like if he's actually like kid age or not,
[01:46:11] I don't think so.
[01:46:12] Because he's like,
[01:46:13] um,
[01:46:14] but he's all,
[01:46:14] he's talking about working back at home.
[01:46:16] Oh yeah,
[01:46:17] you're right.
[01:46:18] So,
[01:46:19] well,
[01:46:19] it's a way away.
[01:46:19] It says he's at school.
[01:46:20] So he,
[01:46:21] there it's,
[01:46:21] he just says school,
[01:46:22] not university or anything.
[01:46:23] So he could be in high school,
[01:46:25] high schooler.
[01:46:26] Yeah.
[01:46:26] Yeah.
[01:46:26] If you're high school or just go for it.
[01:46:29] Yeah.
[01:46:30] Sorry.
[01:46:30] It's supposed to be selfish,
[01:46:32] but he might get beat up.
[01:46:34] What if his sister holds them down and the boyfriend kicks him,
[01:46:37] you know,
[01:46:38] until he's here or something.
[01:46:40] What?
[01:46:40] Okay.
[01:46:41] So what I don't really like is like,
[01:46:42] he's like,
[01:46:43] it's hot outside.
[01:46:45] No one will hire me.
[01:46:46] I'm like,
[01:46:48] all right,
[01:46:48] chill out,
[01:46:48] brother.
[01:46:49] Don't give a cell phone.
[01:46:50] Play fucking team fight tactics,
[01:46:52] brother.
[01:46:53] Play also world of tanks.
[01:46:55] Call it.
[01:46:56] Is this?
[01:46:57] Uh,
[01:46:57] like some of the advice,
[01:46:58] like the top advice is like,
[01:46:59] Hey,
[01:47:00] why don't you try talking to the three year old?
[01:47:02] Explain to him what's going on.
[01:47:04] Be simple.
[01:47:06] Yeah.
[01:47:07] Like just basically like talk to him.
[01:47:09] Be like,
[01:47:09] Hey,
[01:47:09] after,
[01:47:09] you know,
[01:47:10] 15 minutes,
[01:47:11] you know,
[01:47:11] we're turning this off,
[01:47:12] whatever.
[01:47:13] And the ROP replies,
[01:47:15] okay,
[01:47:16] well,
[01:47:16] sadly,
[01:47:17] my nephew won't understand.
[01:47:19] Like what?
[01:47:21] Like I have my,
[01:47:22] I don't even have a three year old.
[01:47:23] I have like a two year old and he understands stuff like that.
[01:47:28] I really like set a timer and be like,
[01:47:30] Hey,
[01:47:30] we're going to do play dough for the next nine minutes.
[01:47:33] And then it's bedtime.
[01:47:34] And I'll set the timer.
[01:47:35] And then he goes off.
[01:47:36] And then he knows it's time is up.
[01:47:41] Like kids can understand stuff.
[01:47:43] Maybe this kid is a little slow from all the brain rot,
[01:47:46] but I don't know.
[01:47:47] Maybe.
[01:47:49] Did you see the other update?
[01:47:51] There's the update.
[01:47:52] Yeah.
[01:47:52] Where it's solved.
[01:47:53] So I got this one.
[01:47:54] You want to read that update?
[01:47:56] The situation has been resolved.
[01:47:58] My sister's boyfriend went to work and my sister went to take a nap.
[01:48:02] So they are using their TV now.
[01:48:06] Sorry if the story wasn't anything epic or anything,
[01:48:09] just basic life.
[01:48:10] Thank you for your input.
[01:48:12] Still.
[01:48:14] Wait,
[01:48:15] what do you mean by using their TV?
[01:48:17] She went to take a nap and the boyfriend went to work.
[01:48:20] Well,
[01:48:20] I think the kid is using the big TV.
[01:48:23] Wait,
[01:48:23] so there's a small three year old watching the TV while the mom goes to take a
[01:48:27] nap.
[01:48:27] Yeah,
[01:48:28] dude,
[01:48:28] the kid likes TV.
[01:48:29] It's the whole problem.
[01:48:31] I love how he's like,
[01:48:31] thanks for the,
[01:48:32] he's like,
[01:48:32] thanks for the input.
[01:48:33] And there's three people.
[01:48:35] And none of them apparently helped him.
[01:48:37] You know,
[01:48:38] they're all like,
[01:48:38] eh,
[01:48:40] talk to the kid,
[01:48:41] I guess.
[01:48:41] Or like,
[01:48:42] I don't know.
[01:48:43] Talk to the kid does seem funny.
[01:48:45] You know what I mean?
[01:48:46] My favorite is this guy's like,
[01:48:48] Hey,
[01:48:48] I'm an early years teacher.
[01:48:50] My training is ages zero to six.
[01:48:52] Unless this child has some sort of delay,
[01:48:54] he would understand you.
[01:48:57] Like,
[01:48:58] yeah,
[01:48:59] we got a,
[01:48:59] we got a professor in our mix.
[01:49:01] What,
[01:49:02] what was it?
[01:49:02] Second grade.
[01:49:03] Did we look this up?
[01:49:05] Seven year old second grade.
[01:49:06] No,
[01:49:06] this isn't a seven year old.
[01:49:07] That was the last three year old.
[01:49:08] Yeah.
[01:49:10] Three year old.
[01:49:10] So I don't know,
[01:49:11] dude.
[01:49:12] Pre K if school at all.
[01:49:16] Or not even in school.
[01:49:17] You're like maybe early,
[01:49:18] like something.
[01:49:22] All right.
[01:49:22] I think we might have time for one more.
[01:49:23] Do you have an asshole lined up?
[01:49:25] But yeah,
[01:49:25] this guy's not an asshole.
[01:49:26] Just demand the TV.
[01:49:29] Demand it.
[01:49:30] Tell that three year old that you're going to play Fortnite.
[01:49:33] And you don't care if he can't watch whatever his show is watching.
[01:49:38] You want to guess what show he's watching?
[01:49:41] Game of Thrones.
[01:49:43] No.
[01:49:44] He's really into it.
[01:49:47] The baby's up in Game of Thrones.
[01:49:50] He just started.
[01:49:51] Oh.
[01:49:52] I was going to say,
[01:49:54] let's do the first one,
[01:49:55] but it is deleted.
[01:49:57] Oh.
[01:49:58] Wait,
[01:49:59] it is Amy the asshole though.
[01:50:00] So there might be a bot.
[01:50:02] Do you remember what the bot's name is?
[01:50:04] It's usually called auto mod or something.
[01:50:08] That sounds right.
[01:50:09] There's a lot of auto mod.
[01:50:11] Found it.
[01:50:11] We got it.
[01:50:12] We,
[01:50:13] ladies and gentlemen,
[01:50:14] we got it.
[01:50:15] Yeah.
[01:50:16] You find that.
[01:50:17] Give me some water.
[01:50:18] Some more water.
[01:50:19] All right.
[01:50:20] I found it.
[01:50:20] You want me to read this one or you want it?
[01:50:23] Okay.
[01:50:26] This is from deleted.
[01:50:28] Long story short.
[01:50:30] Oh,
[01:50:30] What was the title?
[01:50:32] The title all the way back.
[01:50:35] Wait,
[01:50:36] delete the title too.
[01:50:37] No.
[01:50:37] Am I the asshole for getting mad at,
[01:50:40] you know,
[01:50:40] am I the asshole boyfriend getting mad at me for lying when he's invading my privacy?
[01:50:47] Okay.
[01:50:48] Long story short,
[01:50:50] my boyfriend and I don't live together,
[01:50:52] but lately he's been getting on to me for ordering takeout,
[01:50:56] claiming that I can't afford it.
[01:50:58] And he's been getting upset with me saying that I've been lying to him.
[01:51:03] I have not been telling him that I've been ordering out because every time I do,
[01:51:08] it starts a big ordeal.
[01:51:10] And honestly,
[01:51:10] I'm just hard of hearing about it.
[01:51:12] I'm my own person.
[01:51:13] I should be able to order myself food when I want to.
[01:51:16] No.
[01:51:18] Anyways.
[01:51:19] What's that?
[01:51:20] Japanese translation?
[01:51:23] John,
[01:51:24] do you have this?
[01:51:24] The question mark no at the end.
[01:51:27] Like,
[01:51:27] are you asking me?
[01:51:28] Yeah,
[01:51:28] I think I'm about to answer your question.
[01:51:30] Hold on.
[01:51:31] Anyways.
[01:51:31] I'm excited to see how gaming comes into this.
[01:51:33] I wanted to gift my friend a PlayStation gift card so I could play Call of Duty Black Ops 6 with them.
[01:51:39] Okay.
[01:51:41] You know,
[01:51:42] it's on Game Pass.
[01:51:43] I ended up not telling him about this.
[01:51:47] And he comes back with the fact that I'm lying to him because he logged into my email and saw the purchase attempt.
[01:51:55] I mean,
[01:51:55] the attempt?
[01:51:56] Does that mean it didn't go through?
[01:52:00] This isn't the first time he's called me out by looking at my email either.
[01:52:04] For the past week,
[01:52:05] I've been getting bitched at for ordering out.
[01:52:07] And he found all this by going through my email without me knowing until now.
[01:52:13] Am I the asshole for keeping things from him?
[01:52:15] Or is he the asshole for invading my privacy?
[01:52:21] Uh,
[01:52:21] this is weird.
[01:52:23] So there's no ages,
[01:52:24] but I'm assuming pretty young,
[01:52:25] right?
[01:52:26] Uh,
[01:52:27] young enough?
[01:52:29] I don't know.
[01:52:30] It says they don't live together,
[01:52:32] but it's,
[01:52:33] it doesn't elaborate.
[01:52:34] It's,
[01:52:34] it's,
[01:52:35] it's,
[01:52:35] I don't know if it's a long distance relationship or if they just live with their parents or what.
[01:52:38] Yeah.
[01:52:41] Um,
[01:52:41] I kind of feel like they're probably living with their parents.
[01:52:44] I feel like this is like a high school relationship.
[01:52:46] You know what I'm saying?
[01:52:48] Or maybe a little bit after that.
[01:52:51] Um,
[01:52:53] it's bizarre,
[01:52:53] but this is,
[01:52:54] this is one of the more one-sided.
[01:52:57] Am I the assholes that we've had since we started?
[01:53:00] Really?
[01:53:01] This is,
[01:53:01] I mean,
[01:53:01] like not one-sided what I'm saying,
[01:53:03] like one-sided.
[01:53:04] I mean,
[01:53:04] like,
[01:53:05] uh,
[01:53:05] this,
[01:53:05] we only get one side and it is very clear that we're only getting one side.
[01:53:10] You know what I mean?
[01:53:10] Oh yeah.
[01:53:11] That's true.
[01:53:12] Because it's like,
[01:53:13] Oh,
[01:53:13] he gets into the,
[01:53:14] my email.
[01:53:15] It's like,
[01:53:15] what did he fucking hire anonymous?
[01:53:18] Like,
[01:53:18] how did he get into your email?
[01:53:19] Why is he getting your email?
[01:53:21] Why does he care so much about how much you're spending?
[01:53:23] Cause it kind of sounds like you have a problem with spending money.
[01:53:26] If he is getting mad at you because you're spending so much money and you know what I mean?
[01:53:32] It sounds like you're in a relationship and then you're so irresponsible with something that the other party decided to take responsibility for that thing.
[01:53:41] And you are just rebelling against that a little bit.
[01:53:44] You know what I mean?
[01:53:46] Yeah.
[01:53:47] It is so weird where it's like the comments are going after this boyfriend,
[01:53:52] by the way,
[01:53:53] like we're talking about he's in boyfriend status and you don't live together.
[01:53:56] He gets zero input on how you spend your money.
[01:53:59] This is a major red flag of a manipulator.
[01:54:03] Is it?
[01:54:04] And they're like,
[01:54:05] they're like,
[01:54:06] one for the hills.
[01:54:08] He's so controlling.
[01:54:10] Your money is your money.
[01:54:11] Meanwhile,
[01:54:12] it's like,
[01:54:12] it sounds like she has spending issues.
[01:54:16] Yes.
[01:54:17] She wrote it.
[01:54:20] It's also like why it's like they don't live together,
[01:54:23] but if you're dating,
[01:54:26] you probably do want to live together at some point.
[01:54:28] Right.
[01:54:29] And that costs a lot of money.
[01:54:30] Like,
[01:54:30] is that a reason why he's upset about you?
[01:54:33] That's what I was thinking is like,
[01:54:34] if she's spending all this money on these unnecessary things,
[01:54:38] such as like DoorDash,
[01:54:39] that's money that they're not spending together.
[01:54:41] Whatever.
[01:54:41] It's like,
[01:54:42] hey,
[01:54:42] we're going to go to Hawaii this summer,
[01:54:44] right?
[01:54:44] And finally get to spend time together.
[01:54:46] But instead of going to Hawaii,
[01:54:48] she spent $500 on Uber Eats in the last two months.
[01:54:52] Easy,
[01:54:53] you know,
[01:54:53] or something like that.
[01:54:54] Because apparently she's done it multiple times this week,
[01:54:58] which is insane.
[01:55:00] Like,
[01:55:00] I've never been into the,
[01:55:01] the DoorDash thing or whatever.
[01:55:04] Like,
[01:55:04] my wife's done it once in a while,
[01:55:05] but it's like,
[01:55:06] maybe once a month or something.
[01:55:09] And I most likely don't even deliver where we live.
[01:55:12] So,
[01:55:12] it's just not something to do,
[01:55:14] but it's insanely expensive.
[01:55:18] Yeah.
[01:55:19] I mean,
[01:55:19] it gets expensive.
[01:55:20] Like,
[01:55:20] unless you live in a,
[01:55:21] so,
[01:55:22] in my,
[01:55:22] in my city,
[01:55:24] since I'm so close to all my things,
[01:55:26] I can get,
[01:55:27] it's only like $7 more to order like McDonald's.
[01:55:31] Yeah.
[01:55:31] So it's like,
[01:55:33] I don't know.
[01:55:34] Like,
[01:55:34] I,
[01:55:34] I do order,
[01:55:35] I probably,
[01:55:36] it's like once a week.
[01:55:38] At minimum,
[01:55:39] probably like one day I'll wake up and I'm like,
[01:55:42] I don't want to make food.
[01:55:45] Like,
[01:55:45] or not wake up.
[01:55:46] Cause obviously I go to work after work up,
[01:55:47] but I'll get,
[01:55:48] I'll get home from work and I'll be like,
[01:55:49] Oh,
[01:55:49] I forgot to get food.
[01:55:50] I'm going to,
[01:55:51] it's like literally the same as ordering pizza.
[01:55:54] You know what I mean?
[01:55:55] Except pizza,
[01:55:55] you'll have a little bit of leftovers,
[01:55:56] but it's like the same like price range.
[01:55:59] It's like,
[01:55:59] if you're ordering pizza multiple times a week though,
[01:56:02] that's insane.
[01:56:03] Like,
[01:56:03] that's so much extra fucking money when you could just like,
[01:56:07] I don't know,
[01:56:08] buy some fucking ramen noodles.
[01:56:09] Like that.
[01:56:10] I just,
[01:56:10] I don't even order pizza.
[01:56:11] I usually just order it and then go pick it up.
[01:56:13] How hard does it just go pick up your food?
[01:56:16] Maybe they don't have a car.
[01:56:17] Then in that case,
[01:56:19] you're definitely not going to end up a car.
[01:56:20] If you keep spending all your money on door dash.
[01:56:22] Yeah,
[01:56:23] for sure.
[01:56:23] I don't go pick up my pizza because my,
[01:56:25] I hate my dogs have so much anxiety and they freak out every time I leave.
[01:56:31] It's,
[01:56:31] it makes me not even,
[01:56:32] it's like,
[01:56:33] cause my laundry machines are outside.
[01:56:40] Stop.
[01:56:40] Like,
[01:56:41] don't,
[01:56:41] don't scream.
[01:56:42] Don't try to dash out.
[01:56:43] I give them treats and shit.
[01:56:44] And every time I don't give them like enough treat,
[01:56:47] they freak out anyway.
[01:56:48] So the whole time I'm walking to my thing,
[01:56:50] I just hear them both screaming their heads off.
[01:56:52] And I'm just like,
[01:56:53] Oh my God.
[01:56:55] How do I fix this?
[01:56:57] I don't know.
[01:56:58] Try beating them more.
[01:56:59] Yeah.
[01:57:00] I got to slap,
[01:57:01] slap them a good one.
[01:57:02] Molly doesn't care.
[01:57:04] Luna,
[01:57:04] Luna is scared of people,
[01:57:06] but Molly doesn't care.
[01:57:07] I get hit Molly for 15 minutes straight,
[01:57:09] like at full force.
[01:57:10] And she just would continue to bark at whatever she's barking at.
[01:57:13] I don't know how to discipline this dog.
[01:57:16] She's her own woman.
[01:57:18] Just like this lady.
[01:57:19] She's her own woman.
[01:57:20] She could spin however she want.
[01:57:22] Yeah.
[01:57:22] Go on.
[01:57:23] But I assume this,
[01:57:23] this boyfriend's not going to want to stick around.
[01:57:26] If she's just completely saying like,
[01:57:29] it is obnoxious that he's like checking her email,
[01:57:32] which odds are she gave him access to or logged onto his devices with
[01:57:37] like,
[01:57:38] yeah,
[01:57:38] but also she's lying to him about it.
[01:57:41] Saying that it's not that big a deal when she does it multiple times a
[01:57:44] week.
[01:57:44] Yeah.
[01:57:45] The whole thing about,
[01:57:46] I'm not telling him anymore.
[01:57:47] Cause it always starts a fight.
[01:57:48] Well,
[01:57:48] yeah,
[01:57:49] you think it's going to,
[01:57:49] whenever you do the thing that starts the fight and don't tell the
[01:57:53] person,
[01:57:53] do you think that's going to make things better or worse in the
[01:57:56] relationship?
[01:57:57] It just puts off the fight,
[01:57:58] especially if you're fucking doing a thing that if you,
[01:58:01] when you make a purchase on PlayStation,
[01:58:03] you get an email receipt immediately.
[01:58:05] So if he is signed into it,
[01:58:07] like you can have multiple,
[01:58:09] it's not that he's going through your email.
[01:58:11] It's that when,
[01:58:12] when we get codes from gaming together,
[01:58:15] I'm not logged into the fucking one.
[01:58:17] Primarily,
[01:58:18] I'm logging into my email.
[01:58:19] Cause obviously I am,
[01:58:20] but I still get a notification on my phone to go in,
[01:58:23] Hey,
[01:58:23] so here's the indie game spotlights.
[01:58:25] And if you want any of these codes,
[01:58:26] that's like the email we get like every week.
[01:58:28] I get those.
[01:58:29] I get a notification for that.
[01:58:31] Right.
[01:58:31] Right.
[01:58:32] Right away.
[01:58:32] Hey,
[01:58:33] or like if somebody,
[01:58:34] if we get banned on Twitter,
[01:58:35] I get a notification.
[01:58:37] You know what I mean?
[01:58:38] It's so funny.
[01:58:40] So it's like,
[01:58:42] if how it could,
[01:58:43] you couldn't possibly be going like invading your privacy.
[01:58:46] If you gave him access to that stuff.
[01:58:48] Yeah.
[01:58:49] You always take away access too.
[01:58:51] Just change the password.
[01:58:52] Just say,
[01:58:52] I don't want to fix your problem though.
[01:58:55] Yeah.
[01:58:55] It seems like you have an issue and you're presenting yourself in a
[01:58:58] completely,
[01:58:59] like a completely,
[01:59:00] I almost say irresponsible,
[01:59:01] but,
[01:59:02] uh,
[01:59:04] unbiased,
[01:59:04] a biased way,
[01:59:05] a definitely a biased way.
[01:59:08] And of course you do,
[01:59:09] because you only came here because you want like people to go,
[01:59:12] Hey,
[01:59:13] he's,
[01:59:13] he's me.
[01:59:14] You should,
[01:59:14] you should tell him that he's me and he should back off.
[01:59:17] Cause usually that's what,
[01:59:18] what's what happens on Reddit.
[01:59:21] Um,
[01:59:22] I,
[01:59:23] I just,
[01:59:24] when I see this,
[01:59:25] I'm like,
[01:59:25] this seems like a manipulator.
[01:59:26] Like,
[01:59:27] I don't know why I feel that way,
[01:59:28] but,
[01:59:29] it just seems like only one side.
[01:59:31] Maybe,
[01:59:31] you know,
[01:59:32] uh,
[01:59:33] I'm almost on the boyfriend side with this one.
[01:59:37] Because there are a lot of people calling it out.
[01:59:39] Like,
[01:59:40] Hey,
[01:59:40] you lie to your boyfriend often,
[01:59:42] but there's way more people calling out saying like,
[01:59:45] Hey,
[01:59:45] he's being a real kind of manipulative asshole trying to control you.
[01:59:49] It's like,
[01:59:49] yeah,
[01:59:50] he's trying to control her because she's doing destructive things.
[01:59:53] Yeah.
[01:59:54] You want to control people you care for if they're doing bad things.
[01:59:57] Like if you see,
[01:59:59] if you see your mom walking on the side of a bridge,
[02:00:03] like on the rail,
[02:00:05] it's like,
[02:00:05] Whoa,
[02:00:06] I want to control where you are right now.
[02:00:09] Like,
[02:00:09] I don't want you to be right where you are.
[02:00:11] That's not where I want you.
[02:00:13] You know what I mean?
[02:00:14] Like that?
[02:00:15] It's so fucking smooth brain to think that just because somebody is trying to fucking wrangle you,
[02:00:23] that that person's manipulative.
[02:00:24] I mean,
[02:00:25] technically,
[02:00:25] yeah,
[02:00:25] they are being manipulative.
[02:00:26] They're trying to manipulate you in a positive way.
[02:00:29] They want your life to be better.
[02:00:31] They don't want you to be broke.
[02:00:33] You know what I mean?
[02:00:34] And I don't even think that that's half of it.
[02:00:36] Like just in my brain,
[02:00:37] I'm just imagining like if they don't live together,
[02:00:39] that must be one of the primary reasons why he's upset.
[02:00:42] She's spending all this money.
[02:00:43] Right?
[02:00:44] Yeah.
[02:00:45] Cause you'd rather spend money than playing for their future together.
[02:00:48] That,
[02:00:49] yeah,
[02:00:49] that's a huge red flag.
[02:00:51] And I don't know.
[02:00:54] It just,
[02:00:55] it just seems,
[02:00:56] it just seems like this person is definitely an asshole.
[02:01:00] Yep.
[02:01:01] Uh,
[02:01:01] I think the boyfriend gets a pass mostly because he seems to be the victim in all this where he is actively trying to help her and she is inherently refusing and almost doubling down that she does not want help.
[02:01:14] Uh,
[02:01:15] he should let her go.
[02:01:16] I love it.
[02:01:16] Cause it's like,
[02:01:17] he says he's been getting upset with me and says and saying that I've been lying to him.
[02:01:22] He's saying that you've been lying to him.
[02:01:24] You bitch,
[02:01:25] you have been lying to him.
[02:01:27] You are doing like you omitting the truth is lying.
[02:01:32] Right?
[02:01:33] Like if you cheat on someone,
[02:01:35] you lied to them because you're not going to tell them that you cheated.
[02:01:39] Right?
[02:01:39] You will show them the receipt in the email.
[02:01:42] You cheated on them.
[02:01:44] It's so,
[02:01:45] it doesn't,
[02:01:46] it breaks my fucking brain.
[02:01:48] How stupid some people are.
[02:01:51] It's like,
[02:01:52] Hey,
[02:01:52] I'm lying all the time.
[02:01:54] Should I get in trouble for my boyfriend?
[02:01:55] I lie so much that my boyfriend checks me,
[02:01:59] like double checks me.
[02:02:00] And,
[02:02:01] and when he double checks me,
[02:02:02] he finds my lies.
[02:02:04] That's how much I lie.
[02:02:05] Like 99% of the comments are going,
[02:02:08] you go girl,
[02:02:09] get away from him.
[02:02:10] He's controlling you.
[02:02:12] Fucking stupid.
[02:02:14] This is insane.
[02:02:15] Like I've never been this against the comments before.
[02:02:20] Yeah.
[02:02:20] These people are completely fucking stupid.
[02:02:23] He's snooping into your emails and being accusatory about ordering yourself food and buying a gift.
[02:02:28] Like what?
[02:02:30] He's also gross in finding evidence.
[02:02:37] Oh,
[02:02:38] it's unless you have some financial responsibility that you share and are neglecting.
[02:02:43] And are neglecting.
[02:02:44] It isn't his business.
[02:02:47] That's what I thought.
[02:02:48] No,
[02:02:48] no,
[02:02:48] no,
[02:02:48] Okay.
[02:02:49] Hold on.
[02:02:49] Yeah.
[02:02:49] Some,
[02:02:50] yeah,
[02:02:50] you're right.
[02:02:50] Some of these people,
[02:02:51] it's like slowly turning on her.
[02:02:53] Yeah.
[02:02:53] There's like two out of the 90.
[02:02:59] Yeah.
[02:03:00] This is obnoxious.
[02:03:01] Sometimes these people are fucking complete morons.
[02:03:04] It is insane.
[02:03:06] All right.
[02:03:06] So that is,
[02:03:07] I think our last asshole.
[02:03:08] We're at the two hour mark.
[02:03:10] So we are looking forward to a very bright new year of gaming together.
[02:03:14] I'm still going to be bouncing back about every other week.
[02:03:17] You spend more time focusing on my career,
[02:03:19] my family.
[02:03:21] That's just how it goes.
[02:03:22] Sorry.
[02:03:22] The,
[02:03:22] the podcast is getting the shit in the stick,
[02:03:26] but Nate's going to pick up that shit and clean it off.
[02:03:29] And I assume you're going to pick up the off weeks.
[02:03:33] Yeah.
[02:03:33] I'm going to try and find some people who play some different games.
[02:03:36] Got all kinds of things I want to do in the future.
[02:03:39] We're probably like,
[02:03:40] I don't want to make promises,
[02:03:41] but we got some big games that I'm wanting to do this year.
[02:03:44] Some games that would be impossible to do without buying the whole ass
[02:03:49] game for Phillip.
[02:03:50] Like Baldur's Gate is what I'm aiming at hard.
[02:03:53] But,
[02:03:53] uh,
[02:03:54] I also want to do some more solo,
[02:03:55] like not solo,
[02:03:56] but like single player games.
[02:03:57] I've definitely become more lenient on that.
[02:04:00] As you can see,
[02:04:00] we did metaphor and then we,
[02:04:02] I think we've done neon white and stuff like that.
[02:04:04] We have real loose definitions of fucking co-op at this point,
[02:04:09] but,
[02:04:09] uh,
[02:04:10] yeah,
[02:04:10] it's fun.
[02:04:12] Uh,
[02:04:13] but Nave,
[02:04:13] I do have a game in mind,
[02:04:15] but the thing is,
[02:04:17] it's a steam game,
[02:04:18] but I think your computer can run it.
[02:04:21] For whenever I do return,
[02:04:22] are you familiar with the game RuneScape?
[02:04:27] Yes.
[02:04:29] Did you know there's a RuneScape 3?
[02:04:32] Yeah,
[02:04:33] I did.
[02:04:33] Did you know one of the lead developers on RuneScape 3 left and created his own MMO called Brighter Shores?
[02:04:42] I did not know that.
[02:04:43] Yes.
[02:04:44] And it is very similar to RuneScape.
[02:04:49] And it's on Steam and is currently open early access.
[02:04:54] And I think you should install,
[02:04:56] it's less than a gig.
[02:04:58] And you can probably run it and we should try out what they're referring to as RuneScape 4.
[02:05:05] Oh man,
[02:05:06] I don't know if my computer will run this.
[02:05:08] What do you mean?
[02:05:09] I will try.
[02:05:09] It's literally a tile-based point-and-click MMO.
[02:05:13] There's so much shit going on on the screen that I'm looking at.
[02:05:16] Just turn down the effects.
[02:05:18] Also,
[02:05:18] everything,
[02:05:19] like you'll see when you get into it,
[02:05:20] everything is like Paper Mario style,
[02:05:22] where there's just like sections.
[02:05:24] So there's no open world.
[02:05:26] You literally just go like pod to pod.
[02:05:30] I wish you could have seen the fucking 11 frames a second
[02:05:33] my computer did mouthwashing at.
[02:05:36] At maximum.
[02:05:40] But I was running at like 9 frames the whole,
[02:05:43] most of the game.
[02:05:44] And so I got to that hallway where it dropped to literally 2.
[02:05:47] And I was like,
[02:05:48] I'm not going to make it.
[02:05:50] I bet you can make this one.
[02:05:51] Can your computer run RuneScape?
[02:05:53] Then you can probably run this.
[02:05:54] I don't know if I can run RuneScape.
[02:05:56] I'll try.
[02:05:58] But,
[02:05:59] you should just get a Steam Deck,
[02:06:00] because I have started playing this game.
[02:06:02] And I'm about 20 minutes in.
[02:06:03] I'm still on to Toro Island.
[02:06:04] But,
[02:06:07] it plays really well on the Steam Deck.
[02:06:10] Just being like,
[02:06:12] a semi-mobile experience.
[02:06:17] I mean,
[02:06:17] it doesn't look RuneScape.
[02:06:18] Yeah,
[02:06:19] it looks just,
[02:06:19] they went hard on the tiles though.
[02:06:22] That's like,
[02:06:22] on the most contentious points,
[02:06:24] is they drew all the tiles on the ground.
[02:06:27] Yeah.
[02:06:28] Well,
[02:06:28] I mean like,
[02:06:28] RuneScape is also tile-based though.
[02:06:30] Yeah,
[02:06:30] but you can't see the tiles.
[02:06:32] Well,
[02:06:32] you can't.
[02:06:33] But they try to shade them down.
[02:06:35] Yeah.
[02:06:36] But it looks pretty interesting.
[02:06:39] I played a little bit.
[02:06:40] I think we should try it out.
[02:06:41] And,
[02:06:42] it could be a fun little,
[02:06:43] little different taste.
[02:06:44] Because we don't play MMOs very often.
[02:06:47] Because they're so big.
[02:06:50] Yeah,
[02:06:51] that's the issue.
[02:06:51] I've been getting,
[02:06:52] there's a,
[02:06:53] we get requests every now and then.
[02:06:55] Like,
[02:06:56] people are like,
[02:06:56] hey,
[02:06:56] you should do this.
[02:06:57] You should do that.
[02:06:58] I get Final Fantasy 14 a lot.
[02:07:00] It's probably like,
[02:07:01] the second or third most that we get.
[02:07:03] Dude,
[02:07:04] the problem with like that though,
[02:07:05] like,
[02:07:05] because that's almost something I want to.
[02:07:06] I'm like,
[02:07:06] man,
[02:07:07] I would love to get on a Japanese server.
[02:07:08] And then practice my communication skills there.
[02:07:11] But it's like,
[02:07:12] I don't have the effort.
[02:07:13] Konichiwa.
[02:07:14] To make new friends.
[02:07:15] Konichiwa.
[02:07:16] Yeah.
[02:07:16] God,
[02:07:17] there was,
[02:07:18] what was it?
[02:07:19] When you messaged me like,
[02:07:21] hey,
[02:07:21] have you gone on the Japanese exchange server?
[02:07:22] I'm like,
[02:07:23] yeah,
[02:07:23] I've looked into it.
[02:07:24] But I don't have time to make new friends.
[02:07:27] And you're like,
[02:07:27] I don't make friends.
[02:07:28] I just listen to people talk or something like that.
[02:07:31] Yeah.
[02:07:31] Like,
[02:07:31] they literally have like different,
[02:07:33] like,
[02:07:34] like there are people right now in the,
[02:07:36] oh no,
[02:07:36] I don't know what this is.
[02:07:38] Wait,
[02:07:38] what is that streaming?
[02:07:40] Are they streaming anime in here?
[02:07:42] No,
[02:07:43] I think they're sharing someone's desktop,
[02:07:44] which they might.
[02:07:45] Yeah.
[02:07:46] Someone's watching music.
[02:07:47] I don't know.
[02:07:48] Like,
[02:07:48] there are people always in this voice channel.
[02:07:50] Cause Japanese,
[02:07:52] the Japanese,
[02:07:52] the Japanese have a completely different time zone.
[02:07:54] So it's like,
[02:07:55] there's always people in one of these like things.
[02:07:58] Like there's this study room for Japanese that I was listening to the other day that Phillips literally was just referring to.
[02:08:04] And I was just listening to them talk.
[02:08:06] And it was just two people from Japan talking to each other.
[02:08:09] And then there's one random dude who just keeps interjecting every now and then.
[02:08:13] And they'll be like,
[02:08:14] oh yeah,
[02:08:14] good job.
[02:08:15] Like they just start talking.
[02:08:17] No,
[02:08:18] that almost sounds sad.
[02:08:20] It's,
[02:08:20] but it's like weird because it's like real.
[02:08:25] Like,
[02:08:25] like those people,
[02:08:26] I'm in that room with them.
[02:08:28] Like I,
[02:08:29] I'm listening to people that if I turned my mind on and said something,
[02:08:32] they would stop talking.
[02:08:33] Cause I started like,
[02:08:33] you know what I mean?
[02:08:34] It's just so much,
[02:08:35] it's such an extra step already to the point where I'm like,
[02:08:39] whoa,
[02:08:40] you know,
[02:08:40] like,
[02:08:41] like it,
[02:08:42] I don't know.
[02:08:43] It just makes it feel much more real hearing people speaking Japanese.
[02:08:46] Like,
[02:08:46] and I'm purposefully there because they're doing that.
[02:08:49] I don't know.
[02:08:50] It feels weird.
[02:08:51] I've been in a lot of communities just talking about where to go to practice your Japanese whenever you're in the United States.
[02:08:57] And the big things people talk about is discord.
[02:08:59] And then the next one that comes up is VR chat.
[02:09:02] And that seems like a step too far.
[02:09:06] Where it's like,
[02:09:06] you go to a VR chat server and you just talk to people.
[02:09:09] And I'm like,
[02:09:10] I don't think I could do that as a person.
[02:09:14] Yeah.
[02:09:14] It's like,
[02:09:15] you just type in JP into VR chat.
[02:09:19] Yeah,
[02:09:19] I do too.
[02:09:19] I was like,
[02:09:20] I wouldn't,
[02:09:20] I don't,
[02:09:21] just the thought of me unmuting my mic in that fucking server.
[02:09:24] It was like,
[02:09:25] holy shit.
[02:09:27] It's like,
[02:09:27] konichiwa.
[02:09:28] And then leaving.
[02:09:31] Sayonara.
[02:09:32] Probably get banned.
[02:09:33] Yeah.
[02:09:34] Sayonara.
[02:09:36] Oh God.
[02:09:37] The most I have done is like with like Twitch streamers when like,
[02:09:42] I was watching this guy play like some dumb indie ghost game or whatever.
[02:09:46] And he was Japanese and he was talking and I just could only type what I knew to type.
[02:09:53] It was just like stupid stuff like gun pew pew.
[02:09:56] And then he's like,
[02:09:57] Oh,
[02:09:58] Dr.
[02:09:58] Tuff.
[02:09:59] Pew,
[02:09:59] Pew.
[02:09:59] And he makes an noise.
[02:10:00] And I'm like,
[02:10:00] yeah,
[02:10:01] that's me.
[02:10:03] Automata pews.
[02:10:04] Yeah.
[02:10:05] I can automatically pee all day.
[02:10:07] Flow,
[02:10:08] flow.
[02:10:08] And,
[02:10:08] uh,
[02:10:09] plop plop.
[02:10:10] Swoosh.
[02:10:11] Bang.
[02:10:15] What a way to end the podcast.
[02:10:17] Yeah.
[02:10:18] So thanks for joining us this week,
[02:10:19] co-partners.
[02:10:20] Maybe next time we can all peon,
[02:10:22] peon together.
[02:10:24] Sayonara.
[02:10:25] God damn it.
