[00:00:00] The Game Together, a cooperative podcast. I'm your host Phillip and I'm here with my co-partner, Nave.
[00:00:20] Each pod we play through a cooperative experience and relay to you, the listener, if this game is a criminal or a crime of cop or something better off playing solo.
[00:00:27] Hey Nave, what's poppin'?
[00:00:28] Not shit. I'm tired. I'm tired. I just got to saw my mom today. That was pretty cool.
[00:00:34] Yeah, we went out to this fucking saloon or whatever. It's just like a steakhouse. I don't know.
[00:00:40] But I was expecting to see some cowboys and I just saw a bunch of old people from the church rush.
[00:00:46] It was just a bunch of old people in their Sunday best.
[00:00:48] Oh, no boots? No boots were seen? No hats?
[00:00:51] No boots at all. And so yeah, me and my mom just sat around talking about acid and mushrooms around all these old people.
[00:01:01] You know, mother-son bonding.
[00:01:03] Yeah, I mean there's always one table like that in the saloon.
[00:01:07] Yeah, I mean like she went outside to smoke and I was like I'm sure you can smoke inside of here, right?
[00:01:12] Like it would be weird if you couldn't smoke inside of a saloon, but it didn't seem like anyone was.
[00:01:17] I mean can you smoke inside buildings?
[00:01:19] Yeah, you can smoke inside of bars.
[00:01:21] Hmm. Right?
[00:01:22] I don't know. I don't really go to bars.
[00:01:24] Yeah, I'm pretty sure you can smoke inside of bars.
[00:01:26] I feel like that's gotta be illegal somehow. What about the children?
[00:01:30] What children are in bars?
[00:01:32] I don't know. Like you can have like helpers.
[00:01:35] Yeah, like a you know unpaid unpaid labor.
[00:01:38] Yeah, like that.
[00:01:39] Didn't I'm pretty sure there's an always sunny episode about this in where they like adopted kids.
[00:01:45] Yeah, they adopted kids didn't they?
[00:01:47] Tried to put them to work.
[00:01:49] Probably.
[00:01:49] That's gotta be an episode.
[00:01:51] That's too.
[00:01:52] That's too. That's a slam dunk.
[00:01:54] All right, but we are a gaming podcast and we're going to be talking about Valorant before we get there.
[00:01:58] Nave, what games have you been playing?
[00:02:01] Man, I haven't been playing much. I'm really just trying to enjoy metaphor as much as I can, but I just haven't been in the mood for anything like it's weird because I'll be at work and all the whole time I'm at work.
[00:02:13] I'm just thinking like man, I can't wait to beat metaphor and then I can play like fucking strangers wrath odd world and I want to play.
[00:02:20] I want to replay Bioshock 2 and I want to do all this shit.
[00:02:23] And as soon as I get home, I'm just like sitting here just watching YouTube and not doing anything.
[00:02:29] Yeah, it almost sounds like like the gamer fatigue.
[00:02:33] I think the trolls were talking about one of their episodes where it's not even that you have too much choice, but just the effort of getting started in.
[00:02:41] I don't know like some games just have too much downtime to you know.
[00:02:47] Yeah, well metaphor definitely has a lot of downtime, but I don't know.
[00:02:51] It's it's such a good game to like I think that that's the problem.
[00:02:55] I think metaphor is just so good in my opinion that if I'm not a hundred percent feeling it.
[00:03:01] I don't want to play. You know what I mean?
[00:03:02] I want to like I want to be like in the zone the whole time and as soon as I start falling off.
[00:03:07] I'm like, okay, let's go do something else even though you know usually it's fine.
[00:03:11] Like if I played Red Dead like I still I would play through the the lull right because there's that game has a lot of like empty space.
[00:03:20] You know what I mean? Yeah, but it's that empty space that makes you appreciate the good part.
[00:03:25] So yeah, you gotta have the quiet before the loud or something like that.
[00:03:31] Yeah, we just earlier today.
[00:03:33] I went out with Rachel to play a board game with a few friends and that's what we were doing.
[00:03:39] That's why I was a little late to the podcast because I had to walk back here, but they so I gave me the place where she works.
[00:03:45] It's it's this card shop, but it also has a bunch of board games.
[00:03:48] So half of it's like for playing cards and the other half of the building is just all these tables off games and stuff and a lot of them are opened up and then you can just play them like you can just walk in there play board games and then not spend a cent and then leave.
[00:04:02] Like that's just it's a pretty cool place.
[00:04:05] And so Rachel grabbed this one random game.
[00:04:08] That's like a choose your own.
[00:04:08] It's based off a choose your own adventure novel.
[00:04:11] Yeah, like the Goosebumps ones or whatever, but it's like a different brand, but they made it into a board game.
[00:04:17] Where you can like roll and like do stuff like extra with the book.
[00:04:21] So you're basically still reading a book.
[00:04:24] So but you can play in a book together, though.
[00:04:27] Yeah, it's like a group setting book reading, but also like the dark pictures games.
[00:04:31] It is exactly like the dark pictures games.
[00:04:33] That's what I was going to bring up that they even have the premonitions like you will get clues like some places you'll go to get clue 26 and you open get to clue 26 and you flip it over and it's a premonition and it's just a picture like a little puzzle piece.
[00:04:46] And you're like, that's pretty fun squinting and looking at it.
[00:04:50] Yeah, so you're just sitting there reading reading out loud and then you all make a decision.
[00:04:54] It's it's pretty cute.
[00:04:56] Um, I hold on.
[00:04:57] I got the thing right here.
[00:04:58] Let me see.
[00:04:59] What was it called?
[00:05:00] The House of Danger.
[00:05:04] What a nothing title.
[00:05:06] Yeah, amazing title House of Danger, but it is a cute game.
[00:05:11] Um, we died twice.
[00:05:12] Both of them were because I pushed for the decision that got us killed.
[00:05:18] Right.
[00:05:18] So there was like the secret passage and then it was like, do you want to go down into the sterile water dive into that water?
[00:05:25] Or do you want to walk down this rocky pathway like this corridor?
[00:05:29] And I was like, we have to go to the corridor.
[00:05:31] We could go down there and drown.
[00:05:33] I don't want to drown.
[00:05:33] And so they're like, OK, yeah, sure.
[00:05:35] We'll walk down the corridor.
[00:05:36] We get buried alive.
[00:05:38] And then, oh, we actually died twice because it was one because of that.
[00:05:43] And then the second time we died, which you're going to fucking love this fellow.
[00:05:47] Um, so there was a fucking pterodactyl screech like in the distance, like towards this towards this, uh, not a gondola.
[00:05:56] The, the thing outside, it's like a porch, but it's by itself.
[00:05:59] Yeah.
[00:06:00] What is that called?
[00:06:01] I don't know.
[00:06:01] Just like a viewing deck or something.
[00:06:04] There's a word for it.
[00:06:05] Uh, write it down in the comments, listeners.
[00:06:07] Uh, so you, you hear that.
[00:06:09] And then you also hear the sound of the sweet violin music coming from the other way.
[00:06:14] And so I'm like, well, we got to go to the violin music.
[00:06:16] I love music, like music, a big fan of music.
[00:06:19] And so you get there, right?
[00:06:21] You, it's this like dark stage in the middle of this room.
[00:06:24] You walk in the room and there's a chimpanzee playing a violin.
[00:06:31] And you have two choices.
[00:06:32] You can either try to sneak through to experience the full power of the music.
[00:06:37] Right.
[00:06:38] Or you can run towards this like house that you're, that was the original goal to get to the house.
[00:06:42] Like you're almost to the house.
[00:06:44] So you need to go towards the chip, the chimp or towards the house.
[00:06:47] And so I'm like, yeah.
[00:06:48] So I'm like, let's go, let's check out the chimpanzee.
[00:06:51] And so you go in and you step on a pressure plate, which turns the lights on.
[00:06:56] And then the whole room, it's a bunch of like Rottweilers and the chimpanzee points his bow is violin bow at you.
[00:07:05] And all the dogs attack you and tear you to shreds.
[00:07:08] Amazing.
[00:07:08] Amazing.
[00:07:09] And on the back of the cards, there are, they look like tarot cards and they, they have illustrations.
[00:07:15] So there's this illustration of the chimp, like pointing the fucking bow and the dogs chasing you.
[00:07:22] So that was great.
[00:07:23] And then the third time we were at the cemetery and we, we, we were walking towards the like mausoleum.
[00:07:32] And then right next to the mausoleum, this is open grave.
[00:07:35] And I'm like, there's gotta be something in there.
[00:07:37] So we, we climb into the open grave and, and then we die.
[00:07:41] We suffocate.
[00:07:42] So that was, that was awesome.
[00:07:45] Uh, all three, all three of those moments I advocated for.
[00:07:48] So also, so you get these items and if you roll a natural one, this is just a six sided die.
[00:07:55] So if you roll a one, then you have to discard the item, the item breaks.
[00:07:58] And we got this fucking thing that helps with strength checks basically.
[00:08:03] And as soon as we got it, I used it on a thing for strength and roll the one and broke it right away.
[00:08:09] So like, we were like, yeah, this is good.
[00:08:11] And I just instantly, I fucking ruined that whole playthrough pretty much.
[00:08:15] Everyone else was doing great.
[00:08:19] But yeah, that's what we were doing.
[00:08:21] Speaking of, uh, poorly named games, I've been playing, uh, Octopath Traveler two again.
[00:08:27] I've been going back to try to finish as my final Japanese game this year.
[00:08:30] Uh, trying to get a full 12.
[00:08:32] I don't know if I mentioned in the pod been gone for so long, but it will be my final one.
[00:08:36] I have B12 games, but I don't count just on as a Japanese game because there's not that much talking in it.
[00:08:43] Yeah.
[00:08:44] Yeah.
[00:08:44] And by Japanese games, he means he's listening to it in Japanese.
[00:08:48] Yeah.
[00:08:48] I'm playing through the full game in Japanese.
[00:08:50] Not, uh, the game is made in Japan because those that's completely different.
[00:08:54] Yeah.
[00:08:55] Anyways, Octopath Traveler two, still good.
[00:08:57] But like you said, it's hard to almost like want to play it because I log back in and I'm
[00:09:02] like, oh yeah, I'm super under leveled still.
[00:09:05] Yeah.
[00:09:06] And so I'm like, I guess I need to grind.
[00:09:08] And then I grind for half an hour and don't actually make any story progress.
[00:09:11] And I'm like, I guess I'm slightly closer, but I'm still seven levels behind.
[00:09:16] And that's just what the one character might have other characters that are behind in their
[00:09:20] own sections.
[00:09:20] And the whole point of the game is you're supposed to be like, oh, I'm going to go explore
[00:09:23] dungeons and stuff like that.
[00:09:24] It's like, yeah, I could do that, but I just want to do the story pretty much.
[00:09:29] Like I don't feel it.
[00:09:30] I need the side quest.
[00:09:32] Yeah.
[00:09:33] But then it's just going to make you more under level.
[00:09:35] Yeah.
[00:09:35] Now I'm just poor and under leveled.
[00:09:37] I can't even afford like the gear for my level that I'm currently at.
[00:09:41] And I'm like, oh, man, luckily there's like multiple characters that their whole thing
[00:09:45] is like generate money.
[00:09:46] Like there's literally a character class that is the merchant or trader.
[00:09:50] Yeah.
[00:09:51] And he has an ability just called collect.
[00:09:53] And it's just a chance to steal money from the enemies.
[00:09:57] And I just spent a lot of time just collecting money.
[00:10:00] Games good, though.
[00:10:01] I'm going to keep playing it.
[00:10:02] I I'm like 70 hours in at this point, though, I am moving very slowly.
[00:10:08] But that's pretty much all I've been playing.
[00:10:10] All right.
[00:10:10] So here's our patrons that supported us this week.
[00:10:12] Berserker this Mr. Queen and St. Cracker, Nick and I and the Intergalactic Pinecone.
[00:10:16] Thank you for all your support and your listeners at home.
[00:10:19] If you're currently listening to us for free, good, because our show is free.
[00:10:23] But if you want to support us, maybe consider going to our patron.
[00:10:27] We're trying to get the episodes on there sooner rather than later if you want early access.
[00:10:31] But thanks to all our patrons for support.
[00:10:33] Man, at Evo, they're not they're not going to have Mortal Kombat there.
[00:10:37] It's kind of crazy.
[00:10:39] But fighters is there.
[00:10:40] They're still playing fighters at Evo.
[00:10:42] Fighters is good.
[00:10:44] Yeah, I mean, it is really good.
[00:10:46] Well, you know, Mortal Kombat should have included a Dr.
[00:10:49] Disrespect or whatever that side character was.
[00:10:52] What?
[00:10:53] Yeah, as a guest character.
[00:10:54] Yeah.
[00:10:55] I mean, that'd be wild being able to rip Dr.
[00:10:58] Disrespect spine out of the back of his back.
[00:11:02] All right.
[00:11:03] With that, let's take a quick break and then we'll come back and see if we can help some assholes.
[00:11:06] Music plays.
[00:11:07] Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.
[00:11:08] All right.
[00:11:09] And we're back.
[00:11:10] My the asshole section.
[00:11:11] Time for us to go online and assist gamers in need to help them know if they are in fact
[00:11:15] assholes or not.
[00:11:16] Nave, I went ahead.
[00:11:17] I picked one and I linked it in there for you.
[00:11:20] This one's a bit meaty, but since just the two of us, I feel like we can really get into the nuance of it.
[00:11:25] Oh, man.
[00:11:26] Oh, this account has been suspended, so we can't really see what else he's done.
[00:11:30] Let me see if he RIP dismal coyote 7858 for one out for the realist one.
[00:11:36] He did a couple of replies, though, so we can get into them after the meat.
[00:11:40] So this is from eight months ago.
[00:11:42] Am I the asshole for wanting to spend time with my son without my wife?
[00:11:46] So I have a seven year old son who I don't get to see nearly as often as I like.
[00:11:50] I work from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays.
[00:11:53] And by the time I get home, my son is getting ready to go to bed.
[00:11:56] My wife is a stay at home, so she does most of the child care on the weekends.
[00:12:02] I spend time with Nick.
[00:12:03] Oh, we got a name.
[00:12:05] Assuming Nick is the child and not the wife.
[00:12:07] Oh, yeah, I spend time with Nick, but my wife always hovers around him.
[00:12:11] I never get to spend any alone time with Nick.
[00:12:14] Anytime I try to do something with him, she always has to be involved.
[00:12:18] Mario Kart catch playing with his wrestling toys.
[00:12:23] I knew he was in the pro wrestling.
[00:12:25] I never get to have just a father son moments with him.
[00:12:29] And it irks me as it makes me feel like I'm just an accessory as a parent to her.
[00:12:34] She gets to be with Nick and I have and have alone time with him when I'm at work weekdays.
[00:12:40] And on weekends, I never get any alone bonding time.
[00:12:42] I've told her this multiple times and she says there's nothing wrong with always being around.
[00:12:47] I've said, obviously, we should be spending time together as a family.
[00:12:50] But that doesn't mean I shouldn't get an hour or two on the weekends where it's just him and I.
[00:12:54] So on Saturday, I decided to take Nick to a local arcade and grab some ice cream.
[00:12:59] I know on Wednesday, my wife is going with him to an amateur wrestling show and stopped at his favorite restaurant after.
[00:13:06] When I told my wife I was going to take him alone, she got really upset and said it's ridiculous that she can't come out as well.
[00:13:13] I told her how she's going to have a fun day with Nick on Wednesday and I really like to make my own memories with him.
[00:13:20] She got upset and told me just and told me to just leave and slam the bedroom door behind me.
[00:13:28] So I took Nick and we had a blast.
[00:13:30] It's probably the first time in close to a year I got to do something like that with just the two of us.
[00:13:35] On the way home, she texted that she doesn't feel like making dinner.
[00:13:38] I said no problem and grabbed some Chinese takeout, her favorite.
[00:13:42] And when we got home, she refused to eat and would not talk to me.
[00:13:45] She then stormed out of the house at about 730 and said she'd be back late and not to wait up.
[00:13:52] I then got a text from her sister around midnight saying I really need to talk to my wife and that she went over there and got blackout drunk and wouldn't stop sobbing about how I don't love her and don't want to spend time with her.
[00:14:04] The next morning she came home and I asked her to talk and she refused.
[00:14:08] She said it's just fine.
[00:14:09] She just had a bit of an episode.
[00:14:11] I didn't push and I gave her space for most of the day.
[00:14:13] I went to bed for the night.
[00:14:15] She said I was a complete asshole and I should never try to take a child away from their mother.
[00:14:19] I said I'm not taking a Nick away from her.
[00:14:21] She's just being insane or reacting like this and spending a few hours with a few hours either my son at the arcade.
[00:14:29] I he's trying to say with his son at the arcade.
[00:14:32] All right.
[00:14:32] Yeah.
[00:14:33] Today I woke up and decided to take the day off work because I want to spend time with her.
[00:14:37] I remember when I told her that when I told her she was upset, she said she's running errands.
[00:14:43] So there's no point.
[00:14:43] I said, well, I'll go with her.
[00:14:45] And she said she doesn't want me with her and left the house in a rush.
[00:14:48] I feel like she's overreacting to an extreme level to the point where she seems to be having a manic episode.
[00:14:55] She's never acted like this in the 11 years we've been together.
[00:14:58] And I almost feel like I'm being gaslit in the believing what I did was awful.
[00:15:05] Okay, we have some edits, but on on the main agenda, though, is he an asshole for wanting to spend a weekend day at the arcade and getting ice cream with just him and not the wife?
[00:15:23] Yeah, obviously not.
[00:15:24] Um, this is extremely erratic, right?
[00:15:29] Like, am I crazy?
[00:15:31] I seem to be really out of touch with this, like with when when kids start coming into play.
[00:15:36] So I don't really know if it's like, uh, not very cash money to to want to spend time with your kids.
[00:15:44] That seems really crazy that she has to be around.
[00:15:48] Um, I don't know if she's like a helicopter parent or what.
[00:15:52] Like, no, I mean, she does seem like if I would just make a, you know, off the couch analysis or whatever, it looks like she seems overly attached to this child to a unhealthy level.
[00:16:06] I don't know.
[00:16:07] It seems really weird that the first thing that goes through my mind, which I don't think is like an accurate assessment of the situation, but it seems almost like she's done something wrong and she's projecting that onto him.
[00:16:24] Like this, this, this behavior that he's displaying, wanting to hang out with the kid by himself is different.
[00:16:33] So she's reading that as like this horrible thing because maybe she did something and like she thinks that this is like some extra way to.
[00:16:45] I don't know.
[00:16:46] Like, you know, that's too far.
[00:16:47] I think that's too far, Nave.
[00:16:47] No, that's not.
[00:16:48] Yeah, I get what you're trying to say.
[00:16:50] Like, uh, maybe she has a like some kind of weird conscience thing going on where she's like, I don't want any difference or change or something.
[00:16:59] Yeah, maybe like I don't think that that's right, but it's really the end here that got me confused because now she's like, I'm leaving.
[00:17:09] Please don't come with me.
[00:17:11] I don't need you here.
[00:17:12] And she's, she's dipping out.
[00:17:13] It's like, well, that's extremely strange.
[00:17:15] Well, no, that almost sounds like assuming that she's dipping out and.
[00:17:21] I don't know how old is it?
[00:17:22] How old's the kid?
[00:17:23] Seven.
[00:17:24] Seven.
[00:17:24] He's in school.
[00:17:25] Uh, I was gonna say, like, if you know that point, she's leaving him home with the kids like that's just fine.
[00:17:31] That's exactly what he wanted.
[00:17:34] But I think that she's just overly attached.
[00:17:36] And that was it because to the point where she got so uncomfortable with the idea of not being around her son that she ran to her sister's house and got blackout drunk.
[00:17:49] Yeah, but it's and it's also like she.
[00:17:51] So she got blackout drunk and she was just sobbing about how he doesn't love her.
[00:17:56] I mean, I think it sounds like somebody who takes some who takes things like extremely personally.
[00:18:00] You know, those people that just can't detach like the words and their meaning from like reality, you know, like when like if they take like the slightest bit of pushback or criticism, that's an immediate personal attack on their character rather than like a corrective behavior.
[00:18:18] Like.
[00:18:19] Yeah.
[00:18:19] Well, we also don't know this husband how how gently he, you know, made these demands or whatever.
[00:18:27] He seemed pretty.
[00:18:29] I don't know, stiff with them.
[00:18:31] I don't see an exact example like but of course, he probably painted himself in a pretty favorable light.
[00:18:36] He could have been a bit more of a jerk than we actually know about this.
[00:18:40] Well, let's hit up those edits then.
[00:18:43] All right, that's it.
[00:18:43] The edits added to clear up a couple things.
[00:18:45] Number one, my wife has never acted like this before.
[00:18:48] Besides the hovering we have.
[00:18:50] We have had very little arguments.
[00:18:52] She takes care of the house cooking cleaning and my son very well.
[00:18:56] The last few days have been very uncharacteristic of her.
[00:19:00] Okay.
[00:19:00] Number two, I've seen a good amount of people comment on how she might need help with alcoholism.
[00:19:05] She's not a regular drinker and that's why her sister felt the need to comment about her showing up and getting drunk.
[00:19:11] So, I mean, that's not so apparently she doesn't drink regularly.
[00:19:14] So, this is just like an instant like for this one incident.
[00:19:18] This was her reaction because her little baby went to the arcade without her.
[00:19:24] Yeah, I mean.
[00:19:27] Maybe she's just extremely hormonal, you know, like this isn't that a thing where like mothers and their children like don't they become like this level.
[00:19:37] I think this is too extreme for that, which, by the way, what arcade do you think they went into?
[00:19:41] You think it was like a Dave and Buster's, a Chuck E. Cheese?
[00:19:44] Chuck E. Cheese.
[00:19:45] Yeah, they definitely went to a Chuck E. Cheese.
[00:19:48] I don't think he said, I was wondering if he said it in the comments somewhere, but I don't see it.
[00:19:51] Just said, okay.
[00:19:52] Well, maybe she just really likes ice cream, you know?
[00:19:54] I know.
[00:19:55] It's like, what ice cream do they go to?
[00:19:57] They go to Brahms, get that birthday cake?
[00:19:59] Well, I don't think they live in Oklahoma, but the there's this one place here in OKC called the Marble Slab.
[00:20:05] You think it's like a it's like a fancy ice cream place?
[00:20:07] Yeah, that's a wide thing.
[00:20:08] That's here too in Alaska.
[00:20:10] Oh, okay.
[00:20:11] Marble Slab.
[00:20:12] Yeah.
[00:20:12] Maybe they went there.
[00:20:13] Get some fancy ice cream.
[00:20:15] Fancy ice cream.
[00:20:16] It's like, oh, what's that called?
[00:20:18] Like hibachi where they cook in front of you like chop, chop, chop.
[00:20:21] Yeah.
[00:20:23] It's literally hibachi.
[00:20:24] I thought you were going to say like subway.
[00:20:26] No.
[00:20:26] Well, yeah, it's not as fun as subway or no.
[00:20:29] It's always not as fun as hibachi.
[00:20:30] No, it's not because it's just like sad teenagers making you a sandwich.
[00:20:34] Dude, have you seen those ones?
[00:20:36] Like, is it still is it's hibachi where they like make the fire like go up and they like
[00:20:40] they like throw you shrimp and stuff like you're a little seal.
[00:20:46] All right.
[00:20:47] Another edit.
[00:20:48] The issue with her not has not been that she doesn't get enough time with me.
[00:20:52] She stated a couple of times that it was wrong for me to take my son to have fun without
[00:20:57] her.
[00:20:58] She has a once missioned not feeling that I spend enough time with her.
[00:21:02] I definitely though.
[00:21:03] I definitely don't.
[00:21:04] Number four.
[00:21:05] When this blows over, I'm going to suggest her working a part time job while Nick is at
[00:21:08] school so I can start coming home at five instead of working overtime every day.
[00:21:13] Oh, that's already a pretty good fix.
[00:21:15] If she'd be open to working a part time.
[00:21:18] He's already coming up coming at her with the solutions and whatnot as a suggestion and
[00:21:22] not like a weird demand or something.
[00:21:24] Yeah, it's pretty good.
[00:21:26] This.
[00:21:26] Yeah, this is a little unhinged.
[00:21:28] Yeah, her.
[00:21:29] She gets to spend 100% of the time with her son and you're not.
[00:21:33] No one's ever allowed to do anything with a kid without her like like I it must have
[00:21:38] been crazy for her to take the kid to school.
[00:21:41] I'm surprised the kids not homeschooled by how attached she is.
[00:21:44] It is weird that he's not homeschooled or something.
[00:21:46] But just around this one up, though, I almost think there's like no assholes here.
[00:21:51] I think she just has some over the top attachment thing going on.
[00:21:57] Did you say this guy like commented on shit?
[00:22:00] He did, but nothing really relevant.
[00:22:02] He talked about like how she always eats dinner with him when he gets home and she usually
[00:22:07] just has a snack whenever the son eats dinner.
[00:22:10] And they go on a date night once a month.
[00:22:13] Hmm.
[00:22:14] Yeah, this is very strange.
[00:22:15] I don't have much because I know having kids changes you.
[00:22:18] So I just have no point of reference for any of this.
[00:22:23] So I'm obviously going to be really concerned about this behavior.
[00:22:26] I would I would probably freak out.
[00:22:28] I mean, it's just like it's I don't know.
[00:22:31] Because I was going to say, like, I want to go to the dog park without you, Rachel.
[00:22:35] But that would be kind of weird, right?
[00:22:37] I don't think so.
[00:22:39] Like I get wanting to have one on one time with your kids like that's perfectly fine.
[00:22:44] It's just you need to understand that, like, it can be all the time.
[00:22:49] You can't be like, oh, you know, I love hanging out with Nick.
[00:22:52] But my his mom is a real downer or something like that.
[00:22:56] Like is it does seem like the mom needs to get a hobby, though.
[00:23:01] Yeah, she definitely needs to do something else.
[00:23:03] She needs to maybe start writing a book, writing a novel.
[00:23:06] So we start a graphic novel like our last one.
[00:23:09] All right, that I think wraps that one up.
[00:23:11] Dave, do you have one you want to share?
[00:23:13] Uh, yeah.
[00:23:14] What is what's today?
[00:23:15] Today is the 27th.
[00:23:18] October 1027.
[00:23:19] Let's go to 37.
[00:23:21] Oh, short and sweet.
[00:23:22] And it's a it's a butt face one.
[00:23:24] That means it wouldn't have been approved for Am I the Asshole?
[00:23:28] Another suspended account.
[00:23:29] Isn't it weird how like often everything we pay,
[00:23:33] like everything that gets picked in an episode usually has like a string attaching them all together.
[00:23:38] In some way, it seems like it.
[00:23:40] All right.
[00:23:40] So this is throw throw raw relaxing.
[00:23:46] Am I having a stroke?
[00:23:47] What does that say?
[00:23:48] It says throw raw reacts relaxing.
[00:23:52] That's that's OK.
[00:23:53] That is a fucking insane name.
[00:23:55] Am I the butt face for sticking to my original plans?
[00:24:00] Romantic tag.
[00:24:01] OK, next weekend.
[00:24:04] My girlfriend has plans to see her to.
[00:24:07] Has plans to see her two of her friends for a few drinks.
[00:24:12] She's going to be out all day from around 1 p.m.
[00:24:16] until sometime during the night.
[00:24:18] I love all it was precise and then just vaguely.
[00:24:21] Yeah, just sometimes.
[00:24:23] I think he does that again later on.
[00:24:26] Great.
[00:24:27] There's two video games coming out before next weekend that I'm looking forward to play.
[00:24:31] So I thought next Saturday would be the ideal time for it.
[00:24:34] OK, this was two months ago.
[00:24:36] I know it's like, let's do the math.
[00:24:37] What big releases were within the last two months?
[00:24:40] I don't know.
[00:24:41] I'll keep it in mind.
[00:24:42] Listener, what games do you think?
[00:24:43] There's two of them.
[00:24:45] OK, her friends message.
[00:24:47] Her friends messaged me today mentioning that they might invite their BFs next Saturday and told my GF to invite me.
[00:24:55] She mentioned it to me and I apologized, but told her what I had planned.
[00:25:00] She said I could easily move that.
[00:25:03] But I told her I was looking forward to it.
[00:25:04] She said she doesn't want it to feel awkward being the only one without her BF without her BF there.
[00:25:12] So I told her to tell her friends she'd prefer it to just be the three of them.
[00:25:17] She refused and said I should be OK with joining.
[00:25:20] I told her again that I'm looking forward to my plans and that my plans shouldn't need to change just because hers have.
[00:25:27] She said I was being too unfair towards her and that she's not asking for much.
[00:25:33] Am I the butt face for sticking with my original plans?
[00:25:37] OK, so possible games that he could be talking about is one black myth.
[00:25:43] Wukong.
[00:25:45] That was one that came out then.
[00:25:46] And to Concord.
[00:25:50] You think he's a PlayStation fanboy?
[00:25:52] It's got to be.
[00:25:53] Man, I really want one of the games to be Concord.
[00:25:56] And that was just it.
[00:25:58] He's like, he's like, all right, so I got my single player game with Wukong.
[00:26:01] And then when the boys get on, I'll play Concord with them.
[00:26:05] Him and the boys were probably like 40 percent of the online population at one point.
[00:26:10] You know, now we'll see.
[00:26:11] Oh, hold on.
[00:26:12] Is he actually played with him though?
[00:26:13] Let's let's do this.
[00:26:15] So to boil it down.
[00:26:18] She has like he's apparently been planning this for possibly a month.
[00:26:24] However long until these games are coming out.
[00:26:27] Meanwhile, a week out, the girlfriend says that, hey, one of the days coming up, I want
[00:26:34] you to come out and meet my friends and we'll go drinking with a week's notice.
[00:26:38] There's a random comment in here that says, I feel like the Iranian yogurt isn't the issue
[00:26:44] here.
[00:26:45] Do you?
[00:26:45] What is that?
[00:26:46] What does that mean?
[00:26:47] I don't know.
[00:26:48] What is Iranian yogurt?
[00:26:51] Because it like I was like, am I on the wrong?
[00:26:53] Am I the?
[00:26:53] And then I look, it's because the rest of the comment pertains to the fucking thing.
[00:26:57] And then they reply to that.
[00:27:00] Some random person says, I don't know the law.
[00:27:02] I did not know the law about the Iranian yogurt.
[00:27:04] I now know that that isn't the issue here.
[00:27:07] Thanks for the fun rabbit hole.
[00:27:08] So she's just deep.
[00:27:10] I know this.
[00:27:11] Yeah, this is just a rabbit hole throw.
[00:27:13] But there's like an am I the asshole for throwing away my boyfriend's potentially illegal
[00:27:17] yogurt collection?
[00:27:19] Potentially illegal.
[00:27:20] But this is six years ago.
[00:27:21] I'm looking at the same thing now.
[00:27:22] Yeah.
[00:27:22] But the top comment is the quote, the Iranian yogurt is not the issue here.
[00:27:26] I hope at some point in my life I find a way to seamlessly drop that into a conversation.
[00:27:32] Oh, so that's how that's how this popped up.
[00:27:34] Yeah, this is just a bacon-y narwhal thing.
[00:27:37] Oh, well, what is this?
[00:27:39] Hold on.
[00:27:41] Illegal yogurt collection.
[00:27:42] I'm like, now I'm like, hmm, what could be illegal about yogurt?
[00:27:47] Do you want to read about the yogurt collection?
[00:27:49] No, I don't want to read the yogurt collection thing.
[00:27:52] But the yogurt was potentially illegal.
[00:27:55] I know.
[00:27:55] And I looked at it and that yogurt thing is like two pages long with tons of replies and
[00:28:00] extra information that I don't think is relevant because I read it.
[00:28:06] Is it?
[00:28:07] It's not worth it.
[00:28:08] What is it?
[00:28:09] But they have a 550 square foot studio with about 2,100 cups of yogurt in it.
[00:28:14] We don't even know about it.
[00:28:15] Are you with me, listener?
[00:28:17] All right.
[00:28:18] I guess we can read it.
[00:28:19] Listener, press one to vote for the yogurt and press 2,100 if you don't want to hear about
[00:28:27] the yogurt.
[00:28:27] Okay.
[00:28:28] We got the votes in and half the people wanted it, half the people didn't.
[00:28:31] So we're going to read the first half.
[00:28:34] Okay.
[00:28:34] And it's cool.
[00:28:36] Am I the asshole for throwing away my boyfriend's potentially illegal yogurt collection?
[00:28:39] I'm 29 female.
[00:28:40] My boyfriend is 30 male.
[00:28:41] We've been living together for two years in a little studio in a very expensive big
[00:28:45] US city.
[00:28:46] My boyfriend grew up rurally with lots of space enough to collect all kinds of things.
[00:28:51] He collected action figures, video games, all the normal kid stuff when he was young.
[00:28:55] But as he grew older, he became interested in more unusual things.
[00:28:59] As a teen, he had eight guinea pigs of different types from different breeders.
[00:29:06] Since Tide Pods were released seven years ago, he saved one of every Tide Pod.
[00:29:13] He's got a big box of an international variety of electric insulators.
[00:29:17] Those little ceramic hats that power lines wrap around to on power poles.
[00:29:22] Okay.
[00:29:23] So this guy's got a condition, right?
[00:29:25] No, he's not a hoarder.
[00:29:28] He's usually neat.
[00:29:30] Just having lots of space for his bizarre collections at his parents ranch.
[00:29:34] He has two big rooms full of containers of weird and impressive things.
[00:29:38] He recently became interested in yogurt.
[00:29:41] He's always hated dairy products until a year ago.
[00:29:46] He not just started drinking milk and sharing ice cream with me, but he's found a love for
[00:29:52] yogurts.
[00:29:53] So now he must be farting.
[00:29:55] Of course.
[00:29:56] The problem is that they're perishable.
[00:29:58] So he collects them, but they're perishable.
[00:30:00] So until earlier today, our 550 square foot studio contained about 2,100 cups of yogurt.
[00:30:06] It comes in tons of varieties, different types, flavors, textures, containers made by different
[00:30:11] companies and in different countries.
[00:30:13] This is like crack to my boyfriend.
[00:30:15] So he tried to pretty much save up every sample of everything he could find.
[00:30:19] Okay, wait, hold on.
[00:30:20] How many different types of Tide Pods are there?
[00:30:23] There's like five, right?
[00:30:25] No, like five or six.
[00:30:26] I'm assuming he's just talking about pods in general.
[00:30:29] It's probably like there are different Tide flavors probably, but he's also probably
[00:30:32] talking about any detergent in a dissolvable pouch.
[00:30:37] Those things should be perishable, right?
[00:30:39] There's no way those things can just sit around for years and not like disintegrate at some
[00:30:43] point.
[00:30:44] Just the moisture in the air.
[00:30:46] All right.
[00:30:47] He filled our fridge, bought a new fridge, and then another tiny beside the bed fridge.
[00:30:51] He said he didn't want to walk to the fridge at night.
[00:30:54] There's obviously a ruse to get more yogurt space.
[00:30:58] These fridges all filled up with his yogurts and you keep them for that long.
[00:31:02] They smell bad.
[00:31:03] Sometimes the packaging breaks.
[00:31:05] So our apartment was smelling like rotten milk for the last two weeks.
[00:31:08] And my boyfriend's attitude was, oh, it's fine.
[00:31:10] Just deal with it for a little bit longer until I pulled the plug and threw it all out
[00:31:15] this morning.
[00:31:16] I was looking at my groceries, which I had to put beside the fridge because there was no space
[00:31:20] and everything smelled like death.
[00:31:22] Then I kind of snapped and threw it all away.
[00:31:24] My boyfriend is understandably upset.
[00:31:26] We've been arguing about whether I crossed the line by throwing away his stuff.
[00:31:30] And he's especially upset because, of course, he is.
[00:31:33] He had rare yogurts that are hard to find.
[00:31:37] He had the shiny holographic foil yogurt, man.
[00:31:40] Yeah.
[00:31:41] In particular, he had some Cuban and Iranian yogurts that you can't get in the US.
[00:31:46] But I know I have we have trade sanctions against Iran in Cuba.
[00:31:52] Damn.
[00:31:54] She's pulling out the sanctions.
[00:31:55] I don't know if it was even legal for him to have them.
[00:31:58] I asked where he got his Iranian yogurt, but he keeps insisting the Iranian yogurt is not
[00:32:04] the issue here.
[00:32:05] And that the real issue was me throwing out his precious yogurts without his permission.
[00:32:10] Am I the asshole here?
[00:32:11] Do I need to go to our slash legal advice?
[00:32:13] Thanks in advance.
[00:32:15] I'm so exasperated.
[00:32:17] Do I need to go to legal advice for the Iranian sanctions on the yogurt?
[00:32:22] OK, real quick on the yogurt thing.
[00:32:25] Is she an asshole for throwing out the yogurt?
[00:32:27] No, she should have just thrown out the boyfriend.
[00:32:31] It just like kept the yogurt.
[00:32:33] I don't know.
[00:32:34] Dude, can you imagine rotten milk and stank ass?
[00:32:37] Because like this is this upsets your gut biome, does it not?
[00:32:40] She's going to start farting and pooping.
[00:32:41] Like if you eat too much milk.
[00:32:43] Well, it was that only eating that much of it.
[00:32:46] He's spending most of the time just collecting it.
[00:32:49] Twenty one hundred cups of yogurt.
[00:32:51] I wish I had that much commitment for anything in my life.
[00:32:56] What about your magic collection?
[00:32:58] Yeah, never mind.
[00:32:59] That's that was a lie.
[00:33:01] I have so many magic cards, but man, yogurt's not even that good.
[00:33:06] It depends on what yogurt you're getting.
[00:33:08] No, we're not getting the yogurt.
[00:33:10] Yeah, this person's not an asshole.
[00:33:13] No, no.
[00:33:14] Duck fairy.
[00:33:15] You're fine.
[00:33:16] But also it's a fuck dairy.
[00:33:18] Oh, that's duck fairy.
[00:33:22] Fuck dairy.
[00:33:24] Probably think.
[00:33:25] But I enjoyed it nevertheless.
[00:33:28] And I'm glad I'm glad we took that aside.
[00:33:31] All right.
[00:33:31] To the original.
[00:33:32] Yeah, the original asshole for the original plans person.
[00:33:37] Nah.
[00:33:38] Also, this one, the milk toast.
[00:33:41] But you don't think they're both assholes.
[00:33:44] One because the guy.
[00:33:46] No, there's like, oh, I got to play this video game for the whole weekend.
[00:33:49] I can't stop for approximately nine hours to hang out with you and your friends.
[00:33:55] So he made plans to play the game and he's like, okay, this is what I'm going to do.
[00:33:59] And then the plans change.
[00:34:01] I mean, I know the plans always change, you know, Master Chief and whatnot, but it's not that big of a deal.
[00:34:07] None of this is that big of a deal.
[00:34:08] This is just a big wet fart of an am I the butt face?
[00:34:13] I don't think that either of them suck because it's just like this happens to me every at least once a week where I'm like, I don't want to go play magic.
[00:34:22] I would much rather play metaphor.
[00:34:25] And then we just go our separate ways.
[00:34:27] She goes and plays magic and I play metaphor and then we're both happy.
[00:34:31] Hmm.
[00:34:31] So what if which almost happened today?
[00:34:34] Like today I was playing metaphor and she she left and then she was like, she texted me.
[00:34:40] She's like, you can come to game each cube you want.
[00:34:41] And I'm like, why did well, I mean, I'm playing my game now.
[00:34:46] Like, why didn't you just take me that when you left originally?
[00:34:49] Why didn't you ask me that?
[00:34:50] She's just like, oh, I didn't think you wanted to go.
[00:34:53] And I was like, I was in different at that point.
[00:34:57] Yeah, this is a cry for help.
[00:35:00] That's why she's not here because I was scared.
[00:35:03] I was scared for my life.
[00:35:05] It was going to be scary there.
[00:35:07] The I don't think it's that big of a deal.
[00:35:10] And I don't think either of them are like abusing each other.
[00:35:13] I think this is fine.
[00:35:14] You think they're like 12?
[00:35:16] Oh, yeah, there's no ages here.
[00:35:17] They're definitely teenagers, probably.
[00:35:20] Dude, I I remember I've been so I've been still scrolling.
[00:35:24] Am I overreacting?
[00:35:25] That's like my that's my spot now.
[00:35:27] Like I'm like looking at that place all the time.
[00:35:31] And when I see one when the and the ages are like 18 or 19, I'm like, fuck.
[00:35:36] Yeah, like it is going to be insane every single time.
[00:35:39] It is the most unhidden shit I've ever seen in my life.
[00:35:42] All right. Yeah.
[00:35:43] These people just need to lighten up.
[00:35:45] No assholes here.
[00:35:46] Yeah, let's take a break and we'll come back and hit the meat.
[00:35:49] Easy place.
[00:35:50] Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.
[00:35:53] And we're back.
[00:35:55] Valorant.
[00:35:56] Developed by Riot Games and published by Riot Games.
[00:35:59] Initially released back in 2020.
[00:36:03] Oh, six. Oh, two.
[00:36:05] Valorant is a character based five to five tactical shooter set on a global stage.
[00:36:10] Outwit out plot outplay.
[00:36:12] Yeah, I'll play and outshine your competition with tactical abilities, precise gunplay and adaptive teamwork.
[00:36:20] OK, so we have some meta score in here.
[00:36:23] So this game is an 80 with the critics.
[00:36:26] Pretty good.
[00:36:27] But a suffering 4.8 with the fans.
[00:36:31] Well, not fans.
[00:36:32] Oh, just anyone.
[00:36:34] Anyone can go in there and plop some stuff in there.
[00:36:38] Preconceptions of this preconceptions.
[00:36:41] It's made by Riot.
[00:36:42] So I was immediately upset.
[00:36:45] But I really like Counter Strike.
[00:36:47] And so this is always kind of been in my in my peripheral vision.
[00:36:52] And I and a lot of my friends that play Rainbow Six Siege also played this game.
[00:36:56] And they so often when I play Rainbow Six Siege, I would hear, hey, you play Valorant.
[00:37:00] And I'm like, no, I don't have a computer.
[00:37:01] So whenever this came to the console, I was really excited to play it.
[00:37:05] And I played it right away.
[00:37:06] So I've already had a couple of hours.
[00:37:09] I already had a couple of hours in it before we started talking about it this week.
[00:37:12] Pretend you know what you said.
[00:37:14] But yes, Nave, I agree.
[00:37:17] My preconceptions was that this was made by Riot, which I also felt weird feelings about because I'm like, oh, you know, League of Legends and all that jazz.
[00:37:25] But we can look past that.
[00:37:28] I was like, man, this is gonna be cool to be a shooter with hopefully the character design of League of Legends, because I love the League of Legends characters.
[00:37:35] I think they're great.
[00:37:36] They're stylish.
[00:37:37] They're fun.
[00:37:38] Fun to play.
[00:37:40] Then I get here and I did not feel a lot of connection to any of the heroes they initially like showed.
[00:37:45] So I was like, I'll play Valorant eventually.
[00:37:47] I feel like I had more connection to what's the the Blizzard one overwatch overwatch.
[00:37:54] Yeah, I think those characters are better.
[00:37:57] Yeah, well, so the thing with overwatch is that it's a lot more unbalanced, like the the nature of the game, you're allowed to have these huge characters and whatnot.
[00:38:07] And in this game, they're trying to recreate Counter-Strike.
[00:38:10] So everyone has to be like the same size and shape, essentially.
[00:38:15] Yeah, you know, the same silhouette and everything.
[00:38:17] Yeah, because the whole thing about the Counter-Strike is that you you have to be able to reliably make predictions and stuff like that, like based on what you know.
[00:38:26] So so like when you watch a really high level Counter-Strike, you see people like aiming exactly where heads will be whenever they walk around corners and instantly shooting people and stuff.
[00:38:35] You can't do that if you're fighting a road hog.
[00:38:38] Right. Because it's like he's so big.
[00:38:41] Yeah. So I think that that's probably one reason why the characters don't like jump out.
[00:38:45] So they have to like be really, really intense with the character design.
[00:38:49] But I agree with you also that none of the characters really catch my attention either.
[00:38:54] And so you want each character has their own ability.
[00:38:57] So really, it's like what ability are you trying to play?
[00:38:59] What play style do you want?
[00:39:01] And then hopefully that character doesn't suck visually.
[00:39:05] I don't think any of the characters look terrible.
[00:39:07] That's the thing.
[00:39:08] I mean, well, half of them are just robots.
[00:39:10] Yeah, like four of them are robots out of the like there's a lot.
[00:39:14] It's like 30 or 40 of these guys in here.
[00:39:17] Yeah. And some of them I'm I even was like, oh, I wish their ability was something more on my play style because I'd like to play this character.
[00:39:25] But like, I don't know.
[00:39:27] So, I mean, do you want to talk about the character?
[00:39:29] So, I mean, the time that we played, you only you played two hours.
[00:39:33] Yeah.
[00:39:33] Is that what that two is here for?
[00:39:34] Yeah, I do.
[00:39:35] I had about 14.
[00:39:38] 14 and I and this game is always downloaded.
[00:39:41] Like I haven't deleted this.
[00:39:42] It's just chills on my hard drive for whenever I get the Rachel played this as well, but she hated it.
[00:39:49] So but Rachel kind of hates most things.
[00:39:51] So that's not really indicative of the game more than it's not like a casual game, like a more casual game.
[00:40:00] That's usually the kind of thing that she leans towards.
[00:40:03] It's this game is a lot more hardcore, like it's stressful.
[00:40:07] I don't remember what I was saying.
[00:40:09] It's like Counter-Strike, but with champs.
[00:40:11] We talked about some of the chance that you liked.
[00:40:13] I only had like two hours.
[00:40:15] You had like a bajillion.
[00:40:16] You always keep this thing installed.
[00:40:18] Always keep the thing on you.
[00:40:19] Yeah, I I don't know any of the champions names, but the one I always played is the girl with the turret because I'm like, oh, it turns nice and it never ever, ever kills anyone.
[00:40:30] But it's basically just like a fucking ring doorbell.
[00:40:34] You know what I mean?
[00:40:34] Because it's like, you know, it's like runs and you're like, oh, shit, someone's over there.
[00:40:38] And that's really what I ever use it for.
[00:40:40] Also, it's a good distraction.
[00:40:41] So when people see it, they start shooting at it and then I can like pop around the corner like a fucking like a like a dummy.
[00:40:49] What's it called?
[00:40:50] Little targets target practice.
[00:40:52] Oh, yeah, but yeah, I like pop around the corner and shoot them because it'll like right away.
[00:40:57] I could I could triangulate their location.
[00:40:59] You know, that actually led to my favorite guy, Gekko, which I played through probably the most out of any champ was Gekko.
[00:41:05] He has like three slimes that he can throw at people pretty much.
[00:41:11] He's got like one that just runs in a straight line.
[00:41:13] And if it sees an enemy, it'll run to him and catch him on fire.
[00:41:16] The other one flies just kind of floats like a balloon in front of him.
[00:41:21] If it sees an enemy, it blinds them by sliming them.
[00:41:24] His other one is a grenade.
[00:41:26] It just explodes when he throws it.
[00:41:28] And his old lets him take control of one like a little shark.
[00:41:32] And you can drive it like a drone for like seven seconds.
[00:41:36] Oh, yeah. Like the fucking the RC car.
[00:41:39] And yeah, that's what it does.
[00:41:42] And it it's annoying, though, because like his abilities are pretty good.
[00:41:46] But so many of the abilities in the games are so short.
[00:41:49] Like I give the rounds are fast.
[00:41:52] There's usually like a three minute timer on the whole round or something like that.
[00:41:55] But the abilities only last for like a moment.
[00:41:59] It's not like Halo where you fire a tactical sensor and it will scan an area for the next 15 goddamn seconds.
[00:42:05] And this one we have like there's a tactical scanner guy with an arrow.
[00:42:09] It does like three scans and then it stops like that's it.
[00:42:13] That's all you could.
[00:42:15] Yeah, I couldn't imagine this game if the if there were like cooldowns on the abilities or whatever, because you can only use your ability like once around.
[00:42:23] And then most ability you have like one ability that always recharges after around and then every other ability.
[00:42:28] I don't know if this works, but yeah, you have to purchase the abilities similar to counter strike purchasing your grenades.
[00:42:34] And so the girl with the turret, she has to like grenades that you have to reactivate to turn them on.
[00:42:42] And they're like they're basically ink grenades from Gears of War.
[00:42:45] And then the other ability is like a motion sensor that if someone walks by, it makes a loud noise and reveals them on the radar.
[00:42:54] So it's she definitely is a support character.
[00:42:57] And I think that that's why I liked her so much, because it gave us so much vision on the map.
[00:43:03] Um, and I don't know, those those types of characters are really good, especially if you're a vocal person.
[00:43:08] Like I'm always like making call outs and stuff, especially after playing so much call or a counter strike and rainbow six siege.
[00:43:16] That's like a big part of that.
[00:43:17] Yeah. You know, having the abilities that do provide vision are a big deal, because one of the things I appreciate the most in this game is much like League of Legends.
[00:43:25] You have the mini map. The mini map is live updating with the vision cones of your teammates, the sidelines, all your little projectiles like your turret, my little critters.
[00:43:36] You can see their sidelines as well.
[00:43:38] And so if an enemy gets spotted, you don't necessarily need to ping them for your whole team because it'll just pop up on the map and be like, oh, there's there's a full angry red circle over there.
[00:43:47] There's a bad guy. You can also spot dead bodies.
[00:43:50] There's like red X is on the ground for like where teammates or enemies may have been killed.
[00:43:55] Uh, the amount of information that is fed to you in this game is just incredible.
[00:43:59] Like this game is, is designed for the full tactical shooter.
[00:44:04] Like they wants to be the next counter strike because counter strike had it so figured out.
[00:44:10] I don't know what the map system is like in counter strike because I haven't played in so long.
[00:44:13] I don't even know if they have mini maps, but the mini map is like a crucial element of this game.
[00:44:21] Yeah.
[00:44:22] Um, you also could pull up a big map.
[00:44:25] I don't remember how to do that.
[00:44:26] There's a lot of buttons in this game as well, because this is primarily a PC game.
[00:44:29] Uh, and the games, the buttons are hockeyed in a weird way sometimes, but especially when you like open up the buy menu, it seems to always be a fucking, I don't know if there are bugs or if I am just incompetent at like.
[00:44:44] Navigating this menu, but like, I always seem to have problems whenever I open it up and then close it and open it up again.
[00:44:50] I don't know.
[00:44:51] Sometimes I accidentally dropped my gun.
[00:44:53] I do that too.
[00:44:54] Cause it's like down on the D pad and things like drop your gun, but it's also the bungey use to navigate the menu.
[00:44:59] And so it's like, sometimes you'll leave the menu and instantly throw your gun on the ground.
[00:45:03] Yeah.
[00:45:03] It's very, very silly.
[00:45:05] Uh, well, we can talk about the ability some more.
[00:45:08] I want to say like, it's kind of strange because sometimes the abilities don't seem that useful.
[00:45:16] That or they just don't get used a lot in an effective way.
[00:45:19] I think that if the abilities were very strong, it would warp the game around the character.
[00:45:25] And I think that there are some abilities that are a little too strong, but I mean, that's
[00:45:30] Overwatch.
[00:45:30] Overwatch is more about abilities than it is about shooting.
[00:45:34] Yeah.
[00:45:34] Because like you in Overwatch, you're constantly responding and all that shit in this game.
[00:45:39] It's like, if you're dead, you're dead.
[00:45:40] You got to wait for the next round.
[00:45:43] But there are some characters that have abilities that let them do things even when they're dead.
[00:45:47] Like there's one girl, I don't remember her name, but she is able to drop smoke bombs even
[00:45:52] when she's dead.
[00:45:53] It's an item, one of her things you have to buy.
[00:45:55] And I'm like, that's pretty cool.
[00:45:56] It just kind of keeps you in the game even after you're dead.
[00:45:59] And you can just do it from the big map.
[00:46:02] Yeah.
[00:46:02] One thing also, like so in Overwatch, each different character has different weapons and
[00:46:06] stuff.
[00:46:06] This is the same for like Rainbow Six Siege.
[00:46:08] But this game is more like Counter-Strike where everyone spawns with the same weapons.
[00:46:12] So the only difference in the characters is their abilities, like they the equipment they
[00:46:16] can buy and then the ability they bring it bring into the game.
[00:46:21] We keep saying it's like Counter-Strike.
[00:46:23] And if you're unfamiliar what Counter-Strike is like, it's very fast to kill.
[00:46:28] It's all about planting a bomb on usually one to three sites.
[00:46:33] And it's permadeath per round.
[00:46:35] Like you can't, there's no revives or pick backups.
[00:46:38] It's just go out there, you get shot, you're done.
[00:46:41] And usually I don't think you can aim down the sites on any guns unless it has a scope.
[00:46:46] Right?
[00:46:47] Yeah.
[00:46:48] Yeah, that's how it is.
[00:46:49] So it's like sniper rifles, you can aim down the sites.
[00:46:52] But any other gun is just hip fired, which I think is kind of refreshing after every
[00:46:58] gun having like after playing Call of Duty and now Halo, where you can aim down the sites
[00:47:02] on everything.
[00:47:03] And it's about your movement speed.
[00:47:05] So if you're crouching, your gun is much more accurate than if you're walking or running,
[00:47:10] especially if you're running.
[00:47:11] You're also apparently way louder when you run so you can listen to footsteps.
[00:47:14] Yes.
[00:47:15] God, yes.
[00:47:17] But a lot of times, a lot of people just don't really notice.
[00:47:21] But it's not a good habit to get into.
[00:47:22] You should probably walk everywhere if you can avoid it.
[00:47:25] This is the same thing in like Rainbow Six Siege.
[00:47:27] If you're full on sprinting, you're going to make tons and tons of noise.
[00:47:31] In this game, if you're sprinting, I don't know.
[00:47:35] You can kind of hear people walk too.
[00:47:37] But if you're sprinting, you can hear across the map.
[00:47:40] Like I can pinpoint someone.
[00:47:42] Like whenever we were playing, me and Phil played one match together.
[00:47:45] And we kept going to the same site.
[00:47:47] And I would just be like, OK, there's two people coming from the left.
[00:47:49] And there's one guy in the middle right now.
[00:47:50] And I think he's rotating to be like I and I'm just standing in the middle of the map next
[00:47:54] to a box like just listening hard.
[00:47:57] So I mean, yeah, the audio, the audio is amazing in this game.
[00:48:01] It's that it's something that I'm always bitching about in like competitive shooters
[00:48:04] when they have bad audio tracking.
[00:48:07] I don't remember what game was war zone.
[00:48:09] I think that the fucking audio tracking was terrible.
[00:48:11] The finals, the finals.
[00:48:14] Yeah, but in games where there's permadeath, you better have good audio tracking because
[00:48:21] for unfortunately, most games do like a lot of games have at least you can tell what direction
[00:48:25] they're coming from in this game.
[00:48:27] You can fucking hit with pinpoint accuracy, figure out where someone's at.
[00:48:30] It's really good.
[00:48:32] Yeah.
[00:48:32] Uh, let's see other kind of strange things.
[00:48:35] Uh, you can buy armor in this game that gives you slightly more health.
[00:48:39] Uh, is this useful?
[00:48:42] Yes.
[00:48:43] Uh, so for one, um, in count, I don't know if this is the same in this game, but in counter
[00:48:48] strike, when you buy full armor, it gives you a helmet, which gives you protection from,
[00:48:52] from a one headshot for the most, from most guns.
[00:48:55] And it's called getting dinked because if you get shot in the head, when you have full
[00:48:59] armor, it'll make a loud noise, uh, that everyone can hear in the whole map basically.
[00:49:05] And so, um, I am imagining that this game probably does a similar thing.
[00:49:10] Uh, I didn't notice that, but I feel like I still die really fast.
[00:49:14] Even whenever I booze, yeah, full armor.
[00:49:16] It doesn't, if they get the jump on you, it still doesn't matter if you're twice as
[00:49:20] tanky, you still die in less than a clip.
[00:49:23] Oh yeah.
[00:49:23] You're not twice as saying, you know, it's like, it's like if you had 150 health, you
[00:49:27] have 175 health now, basically, even with the full armor.
[00:49:32] I think the primary thing is the headshot resistance.
[00:49:35] I mean, and of course most like large caliber weapons are still kill you in one shot with
[00:49:39] a headshot.
[00:49:39] So it doesn't matter.
[00:49:41] But I, and I'm talking from counter strike.
[00:49:42] I don't know if this game is the same, but I imagine it probably this game.
[00:49:45] I feel like one bullet to the head will kill you because there's times where I'm just
[00:49:48] like spraying at an enemy across the map and I can trace the round that I see fly from
[00:49:54] my gun and hit him right in the dome.
[00:49:56] And I'm like, I only hit him one time, but it was enough.
[00:50:00] Yeah.
[00:50:01] And there's something fun about that, you know, like I, I just, I do like really quick
[00:50:05] time to kills in games.
[00:50:07] That's probably why I like counter strike and rainbow six so fucking much.
[00:50:10] So let's talk about some tactics.
[00:50:11] We've done an episode on siege.
[00:50:12] I think you do one without me.
[00:50:14] I don't remember.
[00:50:15] Cause we definitely talked about that other rainbow six game, the co-op one, but you keep
[00:50:20] going.
[00:50:21] All right.
[00:50:21] I want to talk about some of the tactics because this game is all about tactics.
[00:50:25] There is a lot of like twitch reflexes of being able to land the headshots and put your
[00:50:30] warheads on foreheads.
[00:50:32] But more importantly, this game is a team game based around some team fight tactics.
[00:50:38] Right?
[00:50:39] Yeah.
[00:50:41] One thing we, we did a lot was just rushing the point where we just always go to the same
[00:50:46] point and run in and they never seem to notice that we always went to the same point.
[00:50:51] So they could have set up defenses.
[00:50:53] They could have communicated better, but we want a whole round.
[00:50:56] Like it was like 10 to three or something.
[00:50:59] And we just blew them out of the water by just rushing.
[00:51:02] This is the problem.
[00:51:03] Point is that you learn after a while when playing these kinds of games, uh, that if
[00:51:09] you, even if they keep rushing a eventually they might decide to rush me.
[00:51:13] And if you stack a, what that's what's called stacking one site, uh, and they decide to go
[00:51:19] to the other site, then they'll have the defensive advantage.
[00:51:21] So it's still better.
[00:51:22] Even if they keep rushing a to have maybe have one extra person, like three or four, even
[00:51:27] people on the, on the left side, on the a site and have one person at B. But the problem
[00:51:32] is, is that the middle there's almost maps have a middle area where you can like rotate
[00:51:37] if you need to, like a is not working out.
[00:51:39] And so if you, it's usually your prerogative to keep someone in the middle as well, to make
[00:51:45] sure that nobody's rushing that.
[00:51:47] So it's like, you, you don't have a lot of options whenever you're on defense.
[00:51:51] Like you have to still try and like protect as much as you can.
[00:51:55] One thing I wanted to bring up though, was whenever we first played our game, um, we
[00:51:59] were in a party and I was like, Hey, let's get into game chat.
[00:52:01] You're like, what?
[00:52:02] No way.
[00:52:03] Why would we do that?
[00:52:03] I'm like, everyone's going to be, everyone's going to be talking.
[00:52:07] Well, they were, they were young, noticeably young.
[00:52:09] Um, all three of them, but you were, I think you were showing like some skepticism that people
[00:52:14] would be in the game chat.
[00:52:15] And I'm like, no, Phil, this is a game where people are in game chat.
[00:52:18] Like legitimately.
[00:52:19] No, I didn't think there was going to be people in there.
[00:52:21] I thought it was going to be like parties only.
[00:52:24] Like you, you group up with your friends.
[00:52:25] It's, it's very quiet.
[00:52:26] Like League of Legends.
[00:52:27] There's no voice chat league, you know?
[00:52:29] Well, there is now they added it, but it's only for parties.
[00:52:32] Yeah.
[00:52:33] You can't be, you can't voice chat with random people in this, in this game, there's voice
[00:52:36] chat and people use it.
[00:52:38] Uh, and people actually get upset if you aren't using game chat, especially if you're not using
[00:52:43] it and also you're doing terrible.
[00:52:45] So yeah.
[00:52:47] Then you're redeemable.
[00:52:48] Yeah.
[00:52:49] And so, yeah, the, the people immediately were talking, we, they played rainbow six as
[00:52:54] well.
[00:52:54] We were talking about our favorite champions, you know, or characters and that operators
[00:52:59] and siege.
[00:52:59] I mean, but, um, yeah, and it was fun.
[00:53:01] And we stopped the shit out of the enemies.
[00:53:03] So it was a good old time.
[00:53:05] Yeah.
[00:53:05] Like, yeah.
[00:53:06] Didn't even have to try.
[00:53:07] I went positive on my KD, which is a rare thing for me.
[00:53:10] So it was great.
[00:53:12] Yeah.
[00:53:13] It was like to the point where it took some time in the middle, we were just fucking around
[00:53:16] and we were just like rushing.
[00:53:17] We're on defense all the time, but we're just rushing, rushing them.
[00:53:20] Yeah.
[00:53:21] Just making it a giant clusterfuck.
[00:53:23] I don't know.
[00:53:23] Uh, this is one of those games where if it's, if the things are going good, they're going
[00:53:27] really good and it feels great.
[00:53:28] And when they're going bad, it feels terrible and you don't want to ever play a match again.
[00:53:33] It's one of those kinds of games, but then you do eventually play again.
[00:53:37] I think I covered all my me points.
[00:53:39] So do you have anything else?
[00:53:40] No, that's just about it.
[00:53:42] As far as I can remember, I don't remember what we've talked about anymore because of
[00:53:45] all the resets.
[00:53:46] So let's go to the final words.
[00:53:48] And I got an asterisk this one because honestly, this game is, I would say recommend it's free
[00:53:55] to play.
[00:53:55] It's on PC.
[00:53:56] It's on Game Pass now.
[00:53:59] It's completely playable.
[00:54:01] Like I was able to boot it up, get it like there's like one force tutorial.
[00:54:05] You get into a match and you just start playing.
[00:54:07] There is more things you could know to do better, but the game plays good.
[00:54:11] Everything feels good to shoot.
[00:54:13] The guns aren't God awful or anything like that.
[00:54:16] The game is not ugly.
[00:54:18] Everything sounds good.
[00:54:19] It's checking off all my boxes.
[00:54:21] But honestly, I don't think I ever really want to go back and play this game again.
[00:54:25] Like if we line up just like our free to play games that we've played just this year or
[00:54:30] something like that, I would rather go back to the finals and play that some more than I would
[00:54:34] play Valorant.
[00:54:35] There are different games.
[00:54:36] I get that with different time to kill in different environments.
[00:54:40] But the free to play shooter marketplace is flooded.
[00:54:45] So, yeah, you got to try really hard as for like a counter strike stand in like this is
[00:54:52] probably I probably like this better than counter strike because I was never super into counter
[00:54:55] strike because I was terrible at it.
[00:54:59] Yeah.
[00:55:00] So as far as me, like, yeah, I agree that I highly recommend this game.
[00:55:05] I really, really like it.
[00:55:05] But this is my kind of game and I really do enjoy the tactical kinds of games.
[00:55:11] I'm very sweaty.
[00:55:12] I like to try hard.
[00:55:13] I like to do well.
[00:55:15] And the reason why I did well is because I was outsmarting the opponents.
[00:55:19] I and like I just kind of like that play style of mentality.
[00:55:23] It's why I like seed so much.
[00:55:24] And Philip is more of an arena shooter, which is exactly what the finals is.
[00:55:28] It's like just a big goofy ass time.
[00:55:31] Yeah.
[00:55:31] And I love arena shooters, too.
[00:55:33] If I had to choose if I had to choose what to play for a night, I would definitely pick
[00:55:36] Valorant over the finals.
[00:55:38] But it would be close and it would only take one friend to be like, well, I'd rather play
[00:55:42] the finals.
[00:55:42] I'd be like, yeah, OK.
[00:55:43] You know what I mean?
[00:55:44] Like it wouldn't take me.
[00:55:45] It wouldn't take convincing to get me over on the finals.
[00:55:48] There's not a lot of shooters that I wouldn't want to go back to and play, honestly, because
[00:55:53] have how diverse of a fucking choice we have.
[00:55:58] We have this buffet in front of us to encourage ourselves with.
[00:56:01] But the shooter market is very flooded and it gets to the point where I don't even know
[00:56:07] what to play.
[00:56:08] I've had siege and I've had Valorant downloaded on my on my system for a while and I just
[00:56:13] don't know.
[00:56:14] I don't ever want to pick one up, so I always just go back to my JRPGs and hope that a friend
[00:56:20] goes, hey, you want to play some something else?
[00:56:23] You want to play some Halo Infinite?
[00:56:24] And I'm like, yeah, yeah, sure.
[00:56:26] I'll have to re-download it because everything's 100 gigabytes now.
[00:56:29] But yeah, sure.
[00:56:32] Yeah, I mean, this game is good.
[00:56:35] Like it's funny because we talk about we talked about Concord earlier where that was
[00:56:40] Sony's free to play shooter that wasn't free to play though.
[00:56:43] Right.
[00:56:44] It was a head had a ticket to get in.
[00:56:45] Yeah, it's $40.
[00:56:47] Yeah, that's bad.
[00:56:49] But for them to have an option into this multiplayer shooter arena.
[00:56:55] That's made by Riot, who seems to be knocking things out of the park lately.
[00:57:01] Like, I don't know if you've played Legends of Runeterra, but I really like Legends of
[00:57:06] Runeterra.
[00:57:06] That's their card game.
[00:57:08] Yeah, I don't I don't I didn't even know that existed.
[00:57:10] It's actually pretty good.
[00:57:12] I played it a lot.
[00:57:14] It's like Hearthstone or is like magic?
[00:57:16] It's like Hearthstone.
[00:57:18] But yeah, it's the.
[00:57:21] Yeah, it's it's like Hearthstone, but your character with your characters having abilities
[00:57:25] and stuff like that.
[00:57:25] So it's like, oh, I'm going to play as an Ash deck or something like that, or a Hecarim deck.
[00:57:30] I don't know.
[00:57:31] It's good.
[00:57:32] It's a good game.
[00:57:33] I did the Undying, which is probably the most cheesy Zerg rush deck where the whole premise
[00:57:38] is like any time this one of your character dies, then it comes back as well.
[00:57:43] I get with a one one token on it, and that's the whole premise.
[00:57:46] And you can just attack multiple times.
[00:57:49] But I think this I think what was interesting about it is like you're limited to five cards,
[00:57:53] but you can't have more than five cards on the field.
[00:57:56] Oh, on the field.
[00:57:57] I thought you meant your deck.
[00:57:58] I was like, what?
[00:57:59] No, your decks are small.
[00:58:00] The decks are like 30 cards or something.
[00:58:03] It was this isn't about Hearthstone or the Legends of Runeterra, but right.
[00:58:09] It makes good games like it's you know, everyone talks crap about League of Legends because
[00:58:13] it's an easy target, but League of Legends.
[00:58:16] It's good to play.
[00:58:17] Well, I like it a lot.
[00:58:17] I'd probably still play it if I had the time.
[00:58:20] Oh yeah, I guess I lied on came back.
[00:58:22] Yeah.
[00:58:23] Oh, for the first time and or like TFT.
[00:58:26] TFT.
[00:58:26] My wife, Jana, she still plays the crap out of TFT and I'll jump into the games like that
[00:58:30] to play with her.
[00:58:31] Not very often, but you know, at least maybe once or twice a month, I'll get in and play
[00:58:35] a round or two.
[00:58:36] TFT is good, right?
[00:58:37] It makes good games.
[00:58:39] They make good TV shows.
[00:58:40] Yeah, it's it's almost unfortunate where it's like like I want them to not be so good.
[00:58:48] And they're coming out with an MMO and a 2D fighting game and a Diablo right game.
[00:58:55] And I'm like, oh man, I don't play them.
[00:58:58] I think there was a Telltale game maybe or something.
[00:59:01] They have a JRPG.
[00:59:02] I don't know about a Telltale game, but yeah, they're there.
[00:59:05] You have a JRPG.
[00:59:06] OK, so they have like a whole.
[00:59:08] Oh, they have mobile games like Ziggs Bomb Infinite Runner or whatever, which is just
[00:59:13] like a Sonic Dash type thing.
[00:59:15] So they make a lot of games and a lot of them really good.
[00:59:18] This is just more good Riot stuff.
[00:59:21] Yeah, the Ruin King is the the JRPG.
[00:59:25] And then they have another game called the Mage Seeker.
[00:59:29] Yeah, that one's about Silas, I think.
[00:59:31] Yeah.
[00:59:32] This is just a top down action game.
[00:59:36] This is it's really weird.
[00:59:38] Yeah.
[00:59:39] They're just kind of making a one of every genre kind of thing.
[00:59:43] Like they're doing the side quests now.
[00:59:45] They finished the campaign for.
[00:59:47] But that's all in the League of Legends IP, you know, but right is more than League of
[00:59:51] Legends now.
[00:59:52] It's got a Valorant.
[00:59:53] It's got it's got another one.
[00:59:54] What was it?
[00:59:55] I thought I had a cooking mama.
[00:59:57] No.
[00:59:58] Oh, no.
[01:00:00] They are claiming League of Legends, Valorant, Teamfight Tactics, Legends of Runeterra and Wild
[01:00:06] Rift.
[01:00:06] OK, so I guess they just have Valorant as their other big core.
[01:00:11] But yeah, the Valorant is the only thing I'm looking at their wiki now.
[01:00:15] Yeah.
[01:00:15] So how much would you pay for this game then?
[01:00:17] Uh, dude, 40 bucks would be appropriate for like you Concord it.
[01:00:24] Yeah, I would Concord this if it if I had to pay for this because there's no Counter Strike on it on console.
[01:00:31] You know, so it's like run down by a Steam.
[01:00:36] Yeah.
[01:00:37] So like there it really has a it has a monopoly on this type of game.
[01:00:42] The closest other game is Rainbow Six Siege.
[01:00:44] And that is very close.
[01:00:46] Like, don't get me wrong.
[01:00:47] But like Siege has a different like loop inside of it rather than see just all about it is.
[01:00:54] I like seeds more than I like this.
[01:00:56] Like but again, it's very close.
[01:00:59] It's like Siege Valorant the finals.
[01:01:01] I don't know what else.
[01:01:02] The finals made it on the list.
[01:01:04] Yeah.
[01:01:04] Well, I mean, oh, and Halo Infinite.
[01:01:07] I put Halo Infinite above the finals.
[01:01:09] Yeah, I think I don't know.
[01:01:11] So it's like, you know, there's a lot of games out there for everyone to play.
[01:01:14] I think this is a very good one.
[01:01:15] We have not done an episode on Rainbow Six Siege.
[01:01:17] So we did extraction siege extraction.
[01:01:21] So that's crazy how often I talk about that game.
[01:01:23] And then we I think we tried to do one at some point.
[01:01:26] We definitely played the game together at least.
[01:01:28] Yeah, we've played it together.
[01:01:28] But I don't think we got enough matches in or I think it was like we're like, oh, it's the night before the pod.
[01:01:34] We got to get in there.
[01:01:35] And it was like 2 a.m.
[01:01:36] And you were already drunk or something.
[01:01:39] I don't know.
[01:01:40] I think, you know, what probably happened was we had a guest and then they couldn't make it.
[01:01:43] And I was like, we'll just do it later.
[01:01:44] And then I just forgot about it.
[01:01:45] Yeah, that sounds more like I'm really glad we didn't have a guest for this episode because this is this is not as bad when it's just me and you.
[01:01:51] It's not that bad. But like if there was someone else we were putting through this with we have 15 recordings, 15 separate recordings varying from two minutes to 22 minutes long that Philip Nass is together.
[01:02:03] So go ahead and in the pod before something bad happens.
[01:02:07] All right. So what are we playing next week?
[01:02:09] I don't know, but I think we should do not maybe not next week, but the week after the Call of Duty game that just came out.
[01:02:17] There's a new Call of Duty.
[01:02:18] Yeah. And it's on Game Pass.
[01:02:20] Oh, I guess.
[01:02:22] And you'll get this get this critically acclaimed campaign this time.
[01:02:26] People are loving it.
[01:02:30] That's not a joke.
[01:02:31] Seems like it seems like sarcasm.
[01:02:32] It sounds like a joke.
[01:02:34] That seems like sarcasm, but it was it was so bad.
[01:02:38] Because it's a better story.
[01:02:40] Black Ops six.
[01:02:41] OK, so I can be down for some black ops.
[01:02:43] I haven't played one.
[01:02:45] So hopefully this one is good for you, black ops.
[01:02:49] Now I stopped after like modern warfare two.
[01:02:52] And I don't think black ops is out yet.
[01:02:55] I could have swore I saw people playing it.
[01:02:56] There's no Metacritic.
[01:02:57] They bought them out.
[01:02:59] There's only a couple of reviews.
[01:03:01] That's so weird.
[01:03:02] They're all positive, though.
[01:03:04] They're all like 80s, 80s, 85s.
[01:03:06] All right.
[01:03:07] We'll have to look into it.
[01:03:08] And with that, thanks for joining us this week, co-partners.
[01:03:12] Maybe next time we can all lose connection together.
[01:03:15] Yeah.
[01:03:15] Or find a discord kid.
[01:03:18] Bye.
