[00:03:09] It's over for me. All right, we're game pass grab bag. Oh, yeah, so anyway Yeah, we're weekly podcast and we of course cover games on the game pass Xbox game pass service Every week, you know, we pick kind of a random game sometimes to do a listener request

[00:03:23] We basically just do a breakdown of that game of the week. We're like an hour-long podcast episode We have three different views. I am a hardcore gamer that plays way too many video games

[00:03:33] Keith here is kind of a moderate gamer who plays a whole bunch, but really sucks at them And then of course we're joined by my third coast my wife who is a noob She has never played video games before generally doesn't care for video games

[00:03:45] But she loves doing this podcast and so with our three different views We always kind of give her perspectives of what game you played what we thought of it And we break down the story and everything and kind of give her final thoughts on it

[00:03:56] and then of course we always go in some random tangents always of Random stuff because my wife always ends up bringing up something and it just ends up going to this long tangent

[00:04:06] But yeah, that's generally what we do. I like Andrew. I like you. I also like Keith's shirt Don't get me wrong. I love the merch. We need merch

[00:04:13] I think that the that one shirt of me about to punch Molly out like I think that needs to be merged Phillip got me a birthday gift. I think that was but uh, Andrew's got a norma jeans shirt on and I didn't

[00:04:24] I saw the the font and I just immediately didn't read it and so About 30 minutes end of knowing you I finally looked at your shirt and gone. Oh good band Yeah, I saw them um, was it october last year at furnace fest. So that's how it goes

[00:04:48] Every year it comes back. Yeah, the keys though the one merch we have it was just kind of a trial But yeah, it's our uh two star review on apple podcast is what we did for the t-shirt. That's pretty good

[00:05:01] That's all our fucking reviews lately has been two stars I don't even want to look anymore put on a shirt and sell it I'm surprised people went through the effort to do two stars, you know because it's like I listen to a show

[00:05:12] Like I'm I'm out of there if I'm not in it, you know Yeah, if I don't hate it or if I don't love it. I I'm not leaving a review

[00:05:18] I get it's got to be one of the most polarizing opinions. I don't that's what I just think it's funny too It's just I I don't think I've ever given a one star review on something unless like they really like a company really pissed me off

[00:05:28] But it usually is just like yeah, whatever. I just won't listen to him again It's uh, yeah, this guy made an effort of doing a two star and it's like a paragraph review like he Really? Yeah

[00:05:38] All right. Well, we are a co-op podcast and we're going to be talking about what is the game xo primal before we get there Let's bring in our brand new honorary co-op partners Keith and andrew will start with keith keith

[00:05:50] We always ask our new co-op partners if they have a notable co-op memory such as like always talk about growing up playing Super mario with my sister growing up and stuff like that or bubble bubble. Do you have a memory you'd like to share?

[00:06:03] Well, if we're gonna if we're going old school I I can actually fill that one perfectly is My oldest game and we've talked about it quite a few times on the podcast of you know Would it be good to come back with the twist of middle series?

[00:06:17] Because that game was me and my brother for hours and hours and hours. I just remember The the times we would replay the uh the moto or the swamp level that they brought in from I think it was jet moto Uh

[00:06:33] The all of those stories and the way that it always turned at the very end to me was just so so fitting I don't I hate story in video games. That's another one of the things that I tend to do

[00:06:44] But I loved every single one of those stories and I would sit and rewatch all of them But sadly, I just I don't think it would be a good game again Probably doesn't hold up especially now without your your brother here, you know

[00:06:55] Okay, so I've been playing a lot of like horror games lately and like I just need the listener to know there is indeed like a baby crying

[00:07:02] Get them back. I think they're not hearing anything. Yeah, no, I apologize for that my little one. I wasn't I was hoping it didn't pick up too much He uh, yeah, he woke up

[00:07:12] Now it's a joke. So we got to keep it in whoever's editing me. I think yeah, you're you're on this one All right, Andrew do you have a note we'll call him and where you like to share with the group I I have a bunch

[00:07:23] But I I'll just always stick with one uh the one that always Six of my memory that I always loved was uh back in my college days back when um Halo 4 was coming up. No, not halo 4. It was halo reach

[00:07:36] And so I was with uh my roommate at the time and he was just like dude We got to play all the halos the game was coming out in literally two days So we literally played Literally about like 18 hours a day. We did halo 1 2 3 We did od st

[00:07:50] We had to do all of them within two days And of course like normally like we're both pretty good at the game But it's just if you ever played halo halo is just a very fun kind of campaign game

[00:07:59] And whenever you're playing with your friend like after a while you guys are doing so good Always there's like one loose grenade that ends up killing somebody and it's just like oh you dick You did that on purpose. He kills me. I kill him. He kills me

[00:08:10] Then we end up fighting each other for like two hours in the campaign Not progressing at all because we just keep trying to get back at each other

[00:08:17] And it's like, I don't know we got we got to finish this game and it took us. Yeah, we ended up beating all of those games within two days Missed a couple classes, but we were okay with that. It was for halo. It was

[00:08:29] Dude halo is really binge worthy. I've been wanting to go back to gears one like that's like on the dock That's in the that's in the forefront of my mind. I don't know why I mean

[00:08:37] I do know why it's gears e day. So now i'm thinking about early gears I really just want to play that ultimate addition. Philip Nudge it's on the list. It is. It's just we just got to do it very long Yeah, there's so many games on the list

[00:08:50] Speaking of games on a list. Yeah, let's check in with games that we have been playing. Naive. What have you have been playing? Uh, I haven't beaten anything as I said before because I'm stuck and lost judgment as I predicted these games are long

[00:09:04] Uh, and in the meantime when I get home Rachel sometimes is playing Some fucking game. I don't know what the fuck she does and she's playing fortnite or something And then she's on the tv. So I'm like, oh, don't worry. I'll just play the switch

[00:09:15] I need to use this fucking thing and so I've been playing gold and sun on that and uh This game I remember it when I was a kid But I don't remember anything about it and I'm about like a third of the way through it

[00:09:26] And I realized why I don't remember anything about it is because it's kind of boring But it feels good to grind so I'm like, oh i'm getting level experience I'm getting uh money, but one thing that's annoying is the switch online

[00:09:38] I quit out. I've been making saves in the game and I've also been doing suspend points But I didn't do a suspend point last time I played and when I started up this uh most recent time

[00:09:50] The save I had wasn't there so I had to do a suspend point But it was like 20 minutes of grinding behind like behind so I was a little annoyed Nintendo switch online I don't think so If I can I'd be pissed off

[00:10:02] I've realized I just realized that you can hold down b and it like skips the text in the battle Like so I've been matching the a button a thousand times. I'm like my joy con is broken Golden sun pretty neat

[00:10:16] Looks good looks good for a gameboy advanced game and lost judgment is fucking awesome Everybody please play acusa. Please play lost judgment. Please play it all. It's very good Nice philip I can't wait for you to learn japanese enough that you can play this game Like and

[00:10:33] I keep looking over the fence adam and i'm like Am I ready yet because I don't want to start it because I think i'm just going to go back and replay through zero Since i'm already in English and do it again in japanese

[00:10:43] Just to see where i'm at because i already know what happens in that game with kuzae and everything Yeah, but also it's like I maybe you should do it with a new one to see if it's your comprehension or if it's just your memory

[00:10:54] Remember, there's so many names. There's so much happening So it's like I don't know if that would be in like impossible With you learning it, but I don't know who knows well speaking of me learning japanese I finished my ninth japanese game this year moneko's night market

[00:11:12] Now i'm about to talk some mad shit on this game that I like I gotta say It was made by a man-wife couple married Uh for the last like eight years or something like that. They've been developing this game And it came out

[00:11:27] And I don't play games that i'm not enjoying so I enjoyed it for you know Maybe 10 hours and then the next seven hours were just the most painful time of my life 17 hours To be this game. It's that long

[00:11:41] What are you what are you doing this game? Oh every fucking picture I see you're walking That's what you do. So the game is a animal crossing light Pretty much whatever like if we got a soul's like this is an animal crossing like

[00:11:54] Where it's like you go around you farm you don't even farm what you do farm But the whole premise is basically you do daily villager adventures of fishing picking up sticks Breaking rocks collecting collectibles and then in the background there's like an et storyline

[00:12:10] Where you're trying to protect this giant God cat from men in black Men in black cat. Yeah men in black Have you guys played this game keith andrew? I have I No, I think I played Definitely not as much as this because I got into

[00:12:29] My first night market. So I played maybe about an hour But I can see where it goes to the first night market. God. So I I can absolutely see where it goes South

[00:12:40] But I thought I was gonna like it and I actually almost picked it up the other day But now I know I don't have to no the ending is Is bad too because I thought I even thought that I

[00:12:50] Miscomprehended what happened because I was playing in Japanese and I'm I'm a beginner Japanese person or whatever. I'm not Japanese I'm a beginner learning Japanese language to clarify my English, but uh Also learning English. Yeah, also so working on English

[00:13:06] I thought I misconferented what happened at the end where basically like you're trying to get et to the exit and On the way he gets captured And then you go and you basically trying to break him out of the hq and I guess full spoilers for this game

[00:13:20] He makes it the rest of the way while you're distracting the men in black He escapes off screen and so it's like trailer park alien I didn't even watch the end of trailer park alien. Is that what happens? You didn't watch the end of trailer park alien? Yes

[00:13:32] No, the rednecks show up and then they distract the men in black with their tractors and trucks and shit Oh, okay But anyways and while you're distracting the men in black He escapes and the whole time he's wearing like a mask

[00:13:44] I guess to hide that he's a giant cat I don't know why he wears mask and you just find the mask at like the top of a mountain And there's just the old hermit that lives on top of the mountain and he's like, yeah

[00:13:54] That giant cat just went off and flew into heaven. I saw him go ahead on by and I'm like no way And so I googled it and like looking up to see what other people

[00:14:02] And there's like so many discussions on reddit talking about how disappointing they are with the ending and how it's just like It just cuts off like that and so the AAA games getting rushed to market, dude. No, it's not even oh my god

[00:14:16] This is a single-a game if I've ever seen it It's and there's like noticeable glitches and I even point them out to janna my wife I'm like look whenever you're in the rain if you walk into the backyard

[00:14:26] The rain texture that is just a filter going on the front of the screen Only covers the center portion of the screen and the edges do not have rain on it And she's like no one's gonna notice that I'm like I noticed that

[00:14:36] Or it's like you walk over and it's like at one point you help your dad build a ramen shop and there's a bush. Well You know seasons change and so they have The bushes change colors from you know bright green for spring dark green for summer

[00:14:53] What is the reddish color reddish for fall? Yes, and then Yeah, so There's one bush that for some reason was glitched out and every time I walk past it

[00:15:05] It would flicker in between like the reddish and the green and so it just like it would strobe effect when you walked by it And I'm like that that's bad The other thing is like it seems to be designed for either touch controls or

[00:15:18] Mouse input which I was going to ask if it was designed for cell phones because you asked You talked about the filter of the rain and it was not supported like a widescreen thing

[00:15:27] So I don't know this game's on phones. It might be I feel like this was a switch game Or it should like that's where it probably shines if you could use a touchscreen Then this could be a great switch game if it had full touchscreen integration

[00:15:40] Yeah, I know what you're talking about though with the random things that you notice because when I was playing hellblade I would constantly see reused assets like I would see a specific rock and I wouldn't be like

[00:15:49] That's that rock over there, but tilted slightly and pushed into the wall further. Yeah I'm my immersion my version in moneco's eye market is falling. Is this the cat from five minutes ago? You brought up from men in black orion What this cat? No, no

[00:16:07] Oh my god, I forgot about the cat in men in black. You said men in black cat That then so this is the only reason why I know orions belt is a constellation by the way because the galaxy's on orions belt I remember that

[00:16:20] That's stupid alien inside of the there's a lot of aliens are going on this a lot of aliens There's the bug guy. Let me show you what the cat actually looks like. Oh, fuck

[00:16:29] So is that the only reason you hate the game just because the cat got away? Do you want to die? In the cat no I mean which it was pretty emotional because in the beginning

[00:16:37] You like you like go on a tree and you have a my neighbor totoro moment where you like sing a song to him And then he re sings the song whatever he's in jail and we cut over to him after he's been captured by the men in black

[00:16:49] Like so it was a little emotional in some parts and you got your friend bobo who Originally helped you hunt the cat because the cat can like Do magic bullshit? Anyways, not to get too much into the weeds with this game

[00:17:03] The japanese is pretty straightforward if you're looking for a beginner japanese game Uh, you can play this one. I wouldn't recommend it though Language easy gameplay not fun Okay, it's almost like Like the my least favorite part of the animal crossing the new one the new horizon

[00:17:22] Uh was the the resource gathering like I don't know if you guys play that one animal crossing may have heard of it I didn't I never I never played any of those All right

[00:17:32] Anyways, and it it's all about collecting junk and it's like I enjoy the fishing minigame Yeah, i'm being a dad But then they brought in they're like hey, what if you could craft your own furniture

[00:17:42] If you just need these three different types of wood and these three different types of I don't know like fluff or whatever. I mean, oh, which anyways My least favorite part of it is collecting resources. I really hate rust. You know, it's a whole thing like that

[00:17:55] Uh survival games. Yeah, so this is uh animal crossing with full of crafting Like there's one part where i'm like we need to build a hot air balloon and I needed 30 pieces of Blue paper, but you can only get blue paper by making blue die from collecting grapes

[00:18:15] And I need to go give the grapes, but you can only collect five grapes per day So god and also whenever you make the grapes you need at least three pieces of paper and a grape to make one blue piece of paper That's yeah

[00:18:32] Games like that, but when it restricts you that's when it just irritates me real quick Like that's why I never got animal crossing a reach point where I had too much money to So but there's nothing to buy So i'm like I just have infinite money

[00:18:44] So the and there's nothing to buy you don't run out of resources In any way besides what you can go collect you can't buy resources And at one point dad was like hey, I need 30 clay for my ramen shop And i'm like i'm not gonna collect that dad

[00:18:59] And so I just told him to fuck off and the ramen shop never got built You beat the game up the ramen shop? Yeah Which the hell long to beat to 18 hours I cleared at 17 I'm pretty good speed run. Yeah speed run in japanese too

[00:19:16] Which oh god, there's one part I won't get into it anymore the game You spilled so much already I know well now it was just me bitching about the same issues Instead of me gonna bitch about something else i've been doing whenever I wasn't playing this

[00:19:30] I was trying to set up dev mode on my 2013 model xbox Oh my god So that I can play ps2 games upstairs whenever I want to instead of having to uh Just play them on my downstairs series x

[00:19:45] And I didn't even know the the xbox was that old but man This thing is barely chugging. Yeah, the xbox one dude every time I pull that bitch out for rock band man It is screaming for mercy. I could barely hear the music over it

[00:19:58] My neighbors show up and they're like why the fuck is your music so loud and I turn the soundbar off and they hear the At the fucking xbox one and they're like, oh, okay my bad and then they leave no no it's bad

[00:20:12] Because I thought like oh man, you know, this will be perfect I just needed to do low power emulation For you know places to play station one 64 game cube that stuff I want, you know

[00:20:22] And it does it but it's like I have to completely reset the console every time I switch games Otherwise it'll instantly crash half the time it doesn't boot up like I tried to play final fantasy 10 Just will not boot final fantasy 10 too boots just fine though

[00:20:37] Yeah, because it sucks So that's my my struggle life and that that's been my complaining lately with that we'll move on to Andrew Andrew, what have you been playing? uh a little bit of everything um

[00:20:53] Let's see. So if I want to play a multiplayer game, I've just recently gotten to isan zu Who you haven't covered that one? Oh, did you guys actually cover it?

[00:21:01] I know you guys talked about it because I know you guys did hell it loose. I listened to that episode And yeah someone called naeva the yelling guy I'll never forget it

[00:21:11] But yeah, I couldn't really get into hell let loose either because it's just it's a lot of walking But I like asan zu because it's just it's a nice balance between that realism But also the video game Of it of like battlefield

[00:21:25] So it's not as much walking, but it's still quite realistic of like having to do things like you know Kind of doing everything manual, but I've been having a ton of fun with that game that game is great um

[00:21:36] Another multiplayer game I've been playing a bit of is uh gigantic That game back. I don't know if you guys ever played it originally or know what that game is No, I don't know what it is. I always stared at it from the distance, but

[00:21:46] It's uh, it's like a it's a hero moba for the console So Yeah, well no battleborn was a hero shooter. This is like a third person It's it's a bit like uh kind of like smite or legal legends. Yeah, battleborn was like that

[00:22:02] No, I thought battleborn was more like overwatch, wasn't it? No, it just got killed by overwatch Fucking got murdered. Yeah, that is right. Yeah But uh, yeah, I've been playing that a little bit with my brother

[00:22:13] I played it back in the day when it was like free to play But it ended up dying because like the publisher and so they ended up repackaging it

[00:22:20] It's been kind of a fun nostalgia trip, but I don't know how long that game's gonna last because it's still like 20 bucks I don't know how I was gonna buy it That's my biggest issue with it the original one was free and I loved that

[00:22:31] And I was so pumped for it to come back but to To come back after essentially dying because nobody played it It seems weird to come back and be like, you know what now we think you should pay us for it

[00:22:43] And uh, that was big great for me No, it's no it it didn't die because nobody played it It actually was because like the publisher the other issue with the publisher at the time Oh, that's right They ended up closing and shutting down the servers

[00:22:54] It was something weird like that And so that's why I got repackaged and like they were able to come out with the game again I wouldn't be surprised if it goes free to play eventually

[00:23:03] Uh due to the fact that I can't see this game sustaining itself, you know being 20 bucks But we're like even the game pass in ps plus like Oh, yeah throw it up in the throw it up in them, bitch It's like the game we're talking about right now

[00:23:14] Half of the reviews I was looking for for steam half of the work games dead after a month No one's playing don't buy it and now like where a year later. It's on game pass. Bitch is bumping right now

[00:23:24] I'm finding games left and right. Oh, yeah, everyone's children and they suck but it's okay It's okay. I'm not coping But um, uh for single player, I've been trying to get back into elden ring

[00:23:36] I never finish it. I'm near the end. I have like every dark souls game I've gotten 75 of the way through and I've never finished any of them And so I'm like, I really want to finish this game finally

[00:23:47] Summon to me into that bitch. I'll fucking out of you. Yeah, I'm fucking oh fight them all I'm so I'm so pissed off at phil because he's like we can't do all the three because I'm broke

[00:23:55] And I'm like I'm broke too Philip god damn it. I want to play all the three I I have all the pieces to finish it. I just haven't finished it. So I'm just like I want to beat uh, millennia I'm getting to her

[00:24:21] Playing another cozy game. Uh my time at sandrock. We just recently did an episode on it I've been playing with my wife because you can do it online and it's it's a lot of fun

[00:24:29] I know you probably wouldn't like to fill up because yeah, it is a builder collector kind of game But it doesn't hinder you you can't be like I can only click three pieces a day I hate when games do that

[00:24:39] But uh, I always play these games like a speed run too and I've already been past one year in the game And I'm like, I already beat this game. It's already almost a thousand the achievements on it So almost some of that

[00:24:51] To another game, right? Yeah, my time like a Porsche Yeah, like I watched my my like 10 year old daughter playing that game and I was just disgusted by I'm like This knockoff animal crossing harvest trash

[00:25:04] That's what I was thinking of was harvest. I was thinking like we could call them like harvest like harvest crossing No, but moon animal moon star do Animal moon vanias It's it's a bit different because those games are all about farming

[00:25:20] You can farm in these games, but that's not the main purpose the main purpose of the game is you're a builder So it's all about building things people are asking you for bookcases and stuff like that

[00:25:28] So it's a bit of a different twist, but no it is it's a cozy game So it's a still like the same premise chopping wood to get the materials breaking rocks going to the mines. Yeah

[00:25:38] Yeah, it's like how it's like I'll see you thieves is the souls like You know Philip look at that Souls dark souls mentioned or whatever the fuck we were talking about just now. Uh, it reminded me There's this fucking video Kaisa Nat's coming back

[00:29:48] I just looked at now. This isn't obviously in the last week. I just looked at my total time plate I am over seven days into that game which as Andrew knows Another one that got over seven days of my life is bro Tato Pacifist happened that's I

[00:30:08] I said I was this wasn't bad That was what I said that one was the bane of my existence I I set out on a mission to beat everything. I think it three stars are above

[00:30:19] And I I almost almost dropped down to the easiest for pacifist, but I I committed I stuck through and that one was Probably close to a week in gameplay Be able to convince me to play it like uh not watching the

[00:30:34] Potato and I got about halfway through the achievements. I was just staring like in at the path in front of me and I was It's so good though that I mean because both of those games have something that just it's it's why roguelikes

[00:30:51] Just always have my attention. They're so simple The gameplay is five minutes to understand But then they go out into these just ridiculous webs of gameplay Whether it's in Bellatra where they have all these different decks and then the stakes included with the decks including challenges

[00:31:06] There's just a million different ways to do it. It's it's it's ridiculous And I look I follow the reddit for it or the subreddit for it And just the things people can can do in that game. It's so broken and fun

[00:31:20] But yeah, I actually almost picked up a little bit of minocos this week. I'm glad I did not I sounds like I did the right thing. I mean you can play it but like it's for me. It's a de tier game No, I don't I don't do that's 60

[00:31:34] I don't really do cozy builder type games either So everything you described about it is every reason I would stay away from it So i'm i'm glad that I didn't get as far as you did

[00:31:47] I couldn't figure out the audience for that game too because it's weird because everything is so kiddy-ish But it's not fun Like you know Cat like floating too There is a lot of kitties, but just for little kids it feels But doesn't the cat like float too?

[00:45:09] While holding slash carrying him at a pack or letting him hang out a pack and play And get to talk to people and see some more of the world Kid guy thinks his baby's gonna be talking to people

[00:45:21] I was talking to everybody, you know, he's see that's why he put talking parentheses because maybe he might not be talking to this this stage As to say how young is this baby? I mean he's caring. I guess it's gotta be really young

[00:45:32] Uh for a while this worked really well. He was usually happy and if you got too fussy I let my opponent know I needed to call the game pack up and take him home

[00:45:41] So he went to disrupt the very few other folks there and get stressed out. That's a good move I only call the game. I don't think I have it in me. I'm too competitive It's it's psychological warfare. You wouldn't kill me. I've got a baby to deal with

[01:31:17] But I was like a big buff dude and I saw like 27 of me Like luckily I could always point me out because I gave myself like neon purple hair Like I look really crazy, but everyone looks just like I guess that's just there's no good hairstyles

[01:31:32] There's like six hairstyles. There's like five faces Like three skin tones You never see your okay. It's like complaining about the character creator in Dark Souls even though that one's awesome But it's like you don't see yourself. So no they feature you in every cut scene

[01:31:47] Like you're not talking protag doing squats in the back While all the way talking it's not like we just think well everyone else is like they have all these characters these um What do they call it? What's the the game with um

[01:31:59] The second one overwatch all these overwatch characters are walking around talking to each other and having personalities You know, your guy's just Doing squats trying to pick up wrenches getting shoot away by the actual characters It's weird. It's a weird experience

[01:32:13] I hate games with silent protagonists because it's worse when they try to do like an emotional scene of like You're being held up by a gun or something or like people are screaming and dying and your character's just like

[01:32:23] Oh, just sitting there and it's like come on like this is raises his eyebrows You know like move in any way what people are crying

[01:32:30] I wish they like if you're gonna have a silent protagonist make it fucking dumb and then I would be happy. I'm like, oh just No, well, I mean brace it They apparently call them out for not talking like the nbc is doing this

[01:32:40] In some of the cousin. I don't know I only watch like two of them You unlock cutscenes for the story as you're playing the normal game like the multiplayer Which is the full game. There's no like story mode. It's like the PV pvp

[01:32:55] Mode is how you progress through the story And what is apparently strange is that there are different missions that you go on But they are key to your story advancement So like there's like the final super big raid mission or whatever But you can only play that if

[01:33:12] The other people you're matching with have also reached that point in the story So it's like you're more likely to get the same beginner levels if you're playing with a lot of beginner players Then the later on levels

[01:33:26] I gotta say the story actually is not that bad. I actually enjoyed this game story It it's actually like it has typical capcom maybe like 10 hours of cutscene time

[01:33:37] But it actually has a relatively intricate story and it goes with the game as you said like when you're progressing The gameplay that you're playing which is as you just a multiplayer game It actually is presenting stuff of what's going on your story, but it'll bring back people

[01:33:50] So like me I've completed the campaign. So if I'm playing with anybody like it's still may throw me in a game That's like early on in the story But like obviously the gameplay doesn't change too drastically So like it doesn't bother me

[01:34:01] So I don't think it's like something where it's like, oh, I'm gonna be playing with a bunch of bots because everyone's already passed a story moment But it's it's I actually thought the story was actually half actually pretty afty

[01:34:11] I think the way they handle that is probably the most interesting thing because I the first thing I thought of was uh Brink as I Always thinking of brink always relating games to brink when I can

[01:34:24] Um and that one was really difficult because the missions were directly attached to the story And so you had to have people playing these specific story lines and stuff But it's also they don't do that anymore But that was when it was the first out

[01:34:35] But like another game was titanfall and like you I don't know I don't remember how because I was late to titanfall But like I would always just play quick play and I didn't give a shit about like what was happening

[01:34:45] But like I think there was like a chronological order that you wanted to play things in right? Kind of yeah from what I remember it's been a while that was in titanfall one

[01:34:57] Yeah, I know too had a like a fucking legit single player one of the best shooter stories ever but like titanfall one was like You just got like audio logs in between like missions and stuff and it's kind of like this

[01:35:09] This is a lot more interesting because like you have this little radial And things kind of just like unlock and then they don't unlock until you click on them So sometimes you have like four or five like like banked up and um

[01:35:21] I don't know. It's like a big fucking conspiracy theory board like charlie and fucking always sunny and in the middle It's like how do we get out? And it's like okay, and then everything kind of like spider webs around for like that question that central thing and

[01:35:35] I don't know. I think it's pretty interesting I didn't listen to any of it Because I was trying to I was trying to like just get the percentage up and then just play Like as much as I could possibly play before this

[01:35:47] Review so but um, I thought it was an interesting thing See, but that's why I like it because like it's a multiplayer game So you can play with your friends But for me I I'm a person who loves story in a game

[01:35:57] So it's like I can on my own time go and watch all these cut scenes to figure out what's going on Like it doesn't hinder you you don't have to watch it It's just kind of one of those things that's kind of fun

[01:36:06] Like I've played a lot of games of service like I'm a big apex legends fan And unless you are the very few people that are in the know watching all these youtube videos Going to all these different websites to understand these connections because you'll play the game

[01:36:19] It'll be like oh here's a new event. Oh, you know how these guys hate each other Look at them fight and it's like if you don't go to all these youtube videos and look it up Like you have no idea what's going on

[01:36:28] But in this game, it's kind of one of those things of It's easier for you to access because it's a tab on the side, but you don't have to do it

[01:36:36] So I think it's a nice balance of like a games as a service of having a story that's easily accessible But you also don't have to do it Yep, so I don't I remember what you got I was just saying I

[01:36:45] It's someone who hates story typically because I just I want to just play the game I appreciated that so much because I would just skip through all of them And then just jump into the next one and then like if Andrew and I were playing

[01:37:30] But in fan star online It also had like story missions ever played out basically about like talking heads It wasn't really cut scenes But it was just like a almost like a visual novel section where they would just talk to you

[01:37:41] And they were unlocked as you leveled up and played the game So you could go over to those sections and listen talk to you if you wanted to Or you could play with your friends and just bank them up and then do like 20 of them in a row

[01:37:53] And watch the fucking star wars episode one through three Yeah, pretty much like that's how fan star story modes went pretty much Then so it was like there was context for everything you did in the game

[01:38:04] But you wouldn't know that context unless you actually chose to go watch the cut scenes Which were completely optional and I actually really dig this. I think this is uh This is a good a good move good move capcom

[01:38:17] Yeah, and it's it's specially like better that like you can do the story missions while in quick play Just jumping in because it helps the people who are on those levels trying to get pulls the experienced people back to

[01:38:29] Because there's no like level your your shit. We'll get to we'll get into it But like you can level up your like things but like there's no like real like leveling up So you the people who are playing for a hundred hours

[01:38:40] They only bring their knowledge to the to the game and so and the new players can Do the boss fights and whatever anyways their own at their own pace. So it's It's probably better than dragging people back. There's the modules, right? Yeah, you get modules

[01:38:55] Yeah, you level up a character and like some of those modules are crazy powerful So some of those people can come back and they just wipe the floor with everyone Are they so good that they like completely trivialize the game or

[01:39:08] Because the one the ones I've gotten so far are like your healing ray Like makes them do slightly more attack damage and I was like, okay. Well, that's good But uh, it's like your jump is one second faster and I'm like, okay

[01:39:21] Well, I'm definitely not just one shotting the first boss like in borderlands, you know Like jumping back with a with a friend who hasn't played yet No, some of them are very powerful. Like one of my favorite characters is the nimbus I always love support classes

[01:39:33] But the nimbus she rotates between two guns either damage dealing so magnums or switches to like a healing like pulse kind of gun That's the one I was playing Philip whenever I got you

[01:39:43] And so I have a module where like I can swap between those guns because it's like an eight second cooldown Normally mine's a two second cooldown

[01:39:50] So I can blast people switch to healing heal my team up real quick and then quickly switch back to doing damage before someone can Even switch one time so it actually can significantly change quite a bit

[01:40:00] Dude, I just got that to level three and I was like, oh my god Like as soon as I as soon as I first tip light with Philip I was like I could shoot and heal and shoot because that was the worst thing

[01:40:09] I was like I would switch to the healing gun and then I'm just like fucking you I heal everyone like one second. Like okay. I guess I'm just gonna watch I don't know what I do now All right, so

[01:41:42] Vee game or whatever. So yep If you've ever watched like the competitive world of warcraft videos or whatever or mlg warcraft Where it's they're completing raids and it's just like whoever can complete the raid the fastest wins It's not about like actual pvp. It's kind of like that

[01:41:59] It's like whoever can complete the dinosaur island adventure fastest wins But there's actual player interaction between the two different teams through summoning dinosaurs that you take over all uh Left for dead Versus mode where you can become the the critters that attack

[01:42:17] Or uh, there's some points where like even you're pushing the cart Where your carts are going to the same place and it just becomes a full shootout as you guys cross the finish line Yeah, I love those Yeah, that was incredible

[01:42:31] See, I think that's my favorite thing about the gameplay overall is that it it's constantly while it's Largely the same like Andrew said a year later. It's not doing anything really much that it wasn't doing on launch

[01:42:45] But I always felt like it just shook things up enough and I enjoyed every aspect of it There's very few pvp type of games where when I lose I'm like, ah, I honestly don't care. I still had a lot of fun

[01:43:01] Like I might be a it might be frustrated with a couple losses here and there I'm like, ah, that was such a winnable match. But Largely every match I played of exo primal. I found I was having fun and and for me

[01:43:13] That's a rare part whether it was a win or a loss I also kind of had that like ambiguity But also You were like, uh, that was a close game that made me frustrated It wasn't the close games that frustrated me those those I liked

[01:43:27] It was the ones where I just watched three teammates walk away from the payload and I'm like, I'm the healer So, uh, do I follow those guys and we just completely neglect this or what do I do? Plenty objective guys

[01:43:39] I'm lucio. I do one damage to these afters. I can't stop them forever But yeah, that's that's what I agree with Keith like me and Keith we play a lot of overwatch And that game is just rage inducing

[01:44:34] I think my favorite one ever was it was actually one of the ones that lined up as a PvE In the final, but we were getting beat so badly that they had Summoned their triceratops on the first round for us. It was still alive on the fourth round

[01:44:51] Oh my god, and they You were on the team you're true No, they were just so much better than this They were at like at the final mission just waiting and the PvE does the thing where it's like

[01:45:06] It gives the other team 30 seconds that they were just toying with us Like they just got to a point where I was just watching their death feed constantly because they just stopped trying Because there's some weird xp factor of time base in the game

[01:45:18] How competitive is so like they were toying with us, but I wasn't even mad I was like, all right. Well that just means my match doesn't end sooner and I just to keep shooting dinosaurs Kind of a win-win for me

[01:45:29] I think that's like here sidestep that they do because you it's not directly PvP hardly ever There's only like a small percentage of the game where you're actually seeing other people and shooting at them But it's like

[01:45:40] Uh, since you're shooting the dinosaurs and you came to shoot dinosaurs Then you are doing the thing you wanted to do no matter what the enemy team does So you can kind of just like turn on a podcast or a youtube video essay and just

[01:45:52] zone out shooting at the the the reptiles and yeah First time I played it though I love the AI and Andrew will tell you like I would get so excited because all of a sudden I'd be like

[01:46:02] Start talking about something like oh shit. I haven't heard this line before it's gonna do something and then like the all of a sudden Billions of raptors exaggerating a little bit would start flying out of the sky and it's just It's just chaos ensues or the tunnel explodes

[01:46:17] Was a little devise in yeah, and then like there was one word There was a tunnel and there was just flaming raptors that came shooting out at us like dude. That was wild And I was playing fucking uh, I was playing fucking

[01:46:31] Shock taser dude, so I was just like Fucking tazin this shit. I never they were falling off the roof and shit. I was like Oh Yeah, that's what I love with this game like it's it's I can see why people complain about it

[01:46:47] But you generally don't pick too much what you can do You have pvp or pve or just gimme whatever Is like kind of the only options that everyone so they have a limited time mode

[01:47:05] It might throw some more stuff at them to slow them down or it might give the losing team an extra dinosaur to summon or something It kind of just changes the gameplay up and I loved that

[01:47:24] You know karnasaurus coming in at you. It was just it was cool Can we talk about pterodon real quick? Destiny oh, they're the worst What is that when the the flyers when they bring in they swoop in they're really annoying

[01:47:35] They're they're hard to shoot but they carry rocks and they drop them I don't I don't I don't remember them carrying rocks. They definitely throw rocks at you. It's fucking awesome Maybe you kill them too fast

[01:47:45] But like if you don't kill them for a second, they'll fly to the ground They'll rip out concrete from the ground and fly up over you and drop them It's very silly very mario energy all I know is the pterodons were the

[01:47:58] Like widow makers of it was the only thing that would make me mad I'd be screaming into the void vote kill the pterodons Dude you have to play the why was that I remember the witch doctor with the upgraded Range on his taser

[01:48:35] We talk about going through the same map over and over again That's and then like there's slight variations on stuff and then there's sometimes there's just like an explosive like outro And like one of them would being that

[01:48:46] Tunnel that flaming tunnel another one which is in the trailer I think that you get to a building and then all the dinosaurs start raining down off of the building I'm like, why are they up there? Do it up there because they're like explain it

[01:49:01] This story does explain it. It's fucking awesome though. Like it doesn't matter how they got down It's like like or how they got up there. It's fucking awesome that they're coming down Um, there's a lot of like random stuff like that

[01:49:12] But we talked about the invasion mechanic because there's we keep saying is pvp and pve like the specific Differentials of that I if correct me, I'm wrong. I might be a little wrong but so the pvp is exactly the same as pve the only differences at the

[01:49:26] There are two rounds where you go to a different part of the map and on the second round in the pvp You're both occupying the same map whereas in pve and end in round one of both game modes. You're like

[01:49:40] Dark souls ghosts to each other like you see each other but like sometimes but you can't interact with each other Mario Kart 64 The ghost the first round is always that and then it splits the pve

[01:49:54] Where it basically stays the same thing or pvp and it goes to the carts Uh, yeah, just carts. There's there's other tapes of game modes for pvp Yeah, there's that hammer the charging up the hammer

[01:50:06] And then escort the hammer and hit a point to open up the next part of the map Yeah, but then you have all these like and this is where like the storyline I think is the most impacting and we're having those

[01:50:18] Having your levels higher up and all of these opportunities to come in from the a r AI are important because you have these other events that happen where it brings both teams together and then it's

[01:50:29] pve still but it's the teams combined as a pve and so yeah, that's so cool Yeah, like and then it's like you have to kill 3000 raptors and 200 teradons and it's like Just these massive scale battles and just feels like just so much fun. And yeah

[01:50:46] It's funny because I think I probably have about 12 hours total in this game But I gush about it like I have about 150 I think I've been gushing a little bit So we're talking about everyone coming to one team. There are events to go on there's like street frider

[01:51:02] crossovers where you can buy items and emotes and stuff like that and currently there's a mega man crossover Where you can find the yellow guy Yellow dude, yellow man Yeah, I don't know what it

[01:51:14] See I was wondering if that was his name, but I didn't want to say like a racial slug Yeah, I feel like we were wandering in the race dude. I'm Japanese. Let me just hunt them astros

[01:51:56] Because that's when it introduces the raids And so you couldn't play those that that'll happen randomly But you'll hear the ai talk about like how you guys are too good I'm gonna basically kill you guys and it puts you in a computer room

[01:52:09] In the enemy team as your allies, so it's 10 players just versus the dinosaurs and that's when they throw a ton at you But yeah, what you guys were doing on the special event is literally the last fight. It's just a bit harder

[01:52:19] Which is it's still good, but the raid fights were just a blast. They were so good. Yeah, I wish we got to play I didn't get to I did we did them separately to the mega man fights I'm surprised he even got one but um

[01:52:30] It was so super hard and for specifically You have to kill the mega man yellow devil guy Uh, but with 20 lives and as soon as the lives hit zero doesn't matter people so alive you instantly lose and The thing is is that he is constantly just fucking

[01:52:48] Boing bouncing you the fuck away Like as soon as something touches you fly 500 feet away and I was playing the witch doctor So I could pair our glide back like fucking breath of the wild

[01:52:57] I don't think other I don't know if other people have like ways to get back But um, which doctor can fucking float back But every other time someone would fly off

[01:53:05] I would go over there and try to heal them and then something would hit me behind and I'd fly off with them And like so many people died that way like trying to revive because if you revive like Destiny revive each other

[01:53:18] It doesn't count towards the revive. It doesn't count towards the lives. I mean So it they bait you into it They'll bait like two or three people and that will kill like three people every wave It fucking sucks So we got like 10 percent

[01:53:30] Maybe 20 percent of the way through and then we lost all our lives and it was really sad and probably the people who have 100 dollars This game were screaming at me But yeah, I like it though. I love a good crossover

[01:58:30] See this is my biggest complaint with this game and I was hoping it would be kind of improved I there's so many times That there's just so many dinosaurs so many explosions I don't know what's going on. I don't know what's hitting me I end up dying

[01:58:45] I feel like there's not good indicators that i'm low health or what i'm getting hit by And it's just I die and then it does tell you what killed you But it's always just like oh a raptor got the last hit on me

[01:58:55] But it's like how did a raptor get me down from 200 out to zero? And it's still I'm kind of disappointed that they have not improved that there's still times. I'm just dying for no reason I Wish that um, so on my little thing

[01:59:09] In which doctor he has a big aoe heal he puts down I fully specced into The thing that makes it you have an attack buff on that aoe heal And I could not get people to stay if people didn't want to get in that heel

[01:59:23] They just wouldn't do it and then i'm like all I could think is like there's no way for me to communicate to this guy That it my heel increases his damage So if he just stands in the heel and lets the dinos come to him

[01:59:33] He could slash them and we'll get we'll get kills faster and we'll get to the objective next objective I'm just like it makes me so fucking angry. I'm like just stay in the heel. Why what's so hard about that? I don't sometimes the

[02:04:57] But it's still it's cool. There's a lot of basic color variations, but like um, one of the big guys He's like ryanhardy has a giant shield called roadblock There's a skin for me as a giant teddy bear

[02:05:07] Like it's just awesome like they're just really kind of goofy and funny So there's a lot of free skins you can get which is great

[02:05:12] But the mic yeah, the microchain is actually kind of ramp it but um, yeah, this is just it's very mindless and just cool. There's um And there's different classes and like a lot of different suits you can get but there's a lot of grinding

[02:05:25] I I'm at like 36 hours and I still only have like That the suits are ranked in like alpha beta and gamma I am like all the alpha and only like three of the beta and none of the lawsuits

[02:05:38] Yeah, there's a lot and I've like I said I put like 36 hours and I'm barely touched them Unless you pay real money, which I'm not doing Yeah, so like I had to buy nemesis, but I almost I almost bought the the uh, the witch doctor beta
