[00:00:00] Welcome to Gaming Together, a cooperative podcast. I'm your host Phillip and I'm here with my co-partner Nave. Each pod we play through a cooperative experience and relay to you the listener if this game is the criminal or criminal cop or something better off playing solo.
[00:00:38] Hey Nave, what's poppin? Hey Nave. Dude, shit's been going bad all day it seems like. I was severely angry at the beginning of this episode but then Phillip had all this fucking trouble which gave me plenty of time to cool off.
[00:00:52] I'm still moderately upset but I was traumatized when I first came in here. Me and Nate just sat in silence. We have a guest today Nate. I mean Phillip. Yes. Nave and Nate. Yeah the reoccurring ends. I was like do you need some time Nave?
[00:01:06] Just take your time. Which Nate, you are from the Elder Trolls podcast. We last had your brother Jono on here representing. He's the FPS guy. I don't play much of those so usually when you guys have like the last two FPS episodes you've had he's been on there.
[00:01:23] Yeah we gotta talk about the finals guys. Yeah but no now we're in RPG territory so that's where I am here. We moved from the shooter brother, the shoota to the non-shoota. Two categories. Which we are going to be talking about. What is this game called?
[00:01:41] Lords of the Fallen 2023. Opposed to the old one. Oh yes that's true. And but before we get there Nave I think we need to just you know bring the energy up. You're talking about how sad you are how angry you came in but you know whenever
[00:01:55] I was thinking about recording the pod later today I was getting hyped. I feel like I haven't been bringing enough energy in our Hellblade episode. I was just angry the whole time because like I was trying to convince you guys
[00:02:07] the game was bad but sadly both of you guys agreed. Yeah that kind of sucks but I still like the game and that always made me madder that you knew how bad it was. So I'm going to try to bring some positivity in this one and keep the
[00:02:19] spirits up you know. Nice right on. I'm there for you. Let's let's bring the spirits up here. Even after what happened to you. I mean you know things happen Nave you just have to roll with the ducks. They're like the water in the ducks.
[00:02:32] Like that game you play. Yeah that's the ducks in. Yeah the rubber ducks. Have you heard about the banana game on Steve. Yeah yeah I'm seeing a lot of videos talking about it. I don't really know is this a cookie clip.
[00:02:44] OK we can talk about this real quick. Nate have you heard about it. The banana game. I think it's just called banana. It is like a third go to the play game on Steam. Yeah it's like go to the store and like look at the most played games.
[00:02:58] So it's like it's just going to make me angry. Yeah it's an NFT like scheme get rich quick scheme that is working on steam where the whole premise is there's a banana and as long as you have the game
[00:03:10] open you can click on the banana in every like 13 minutes as long as you click on the banana within that time frame they will give you a steam item that is a banana that you can use to customize your banana. Neuron activate.
[00:03:24] Yeah neuron activate reward gained and every like 18 hours. That's the joke is you can sell it every 18 hours you get a rare drop banana that you can sell in the marketplace for real steam money. And of course every marketplace item is split three ways between valve
[00:03:43] the developer and the person selling the item on steam. So that means that this game is developed it's just producing items to be sold in a digital marketplace for digital bananas that aren't actually are real as a commodity and people are buying and selling them I guess
[00:04:02] as a speculators market trying to get into the next big wave because some of these bananas are dropping for like dollars and a couple of dollars whole dollars. Yeah. What do you mean? What's up? You can buy like five real bananas for that.
[00:04:20] Well, that's the joke too is like the whole thing is like this game is being played by so many people. The banana economy is booming. There are so many bananas going out there, but there's no actual drop rates
[00:04:30] listed for the bananas and the developers can generate bananas at any time if they need to do like giveaways or anything like that. So they can play. They are inflating. They are controlling the rare banana drop economy and they're just going wild out there and everyone's like houses
[00:04:46] not been removed from steam. It's ruined the pristine marketplace that is steam and it's shovelware. I remember it's just like the casinos here in Oklahoma. I play a lot of Dota 2 and I traded a lot of items
[00:05:01] and then I was trying to get into like making my own Dota 2 items, like in Blender and shit. Yeah. And I almost made a whole staff with like a monkey head and like all this stuff, but I couldn't texture it properly.
[00:05:13] So it was like a weird gray staff. I was like, should I just put that up for sale? Yeah. I mean, you could. I mean, as long as one person buys it, you're good. Yeah. Yeah. All right. But yeah, that's the current steam.
[00:05:25] Like we have we're talking about news. That's the news is that a banana game is ruining the sanctity by getting like the out of the NFT bros in there trading their virtual bananas. That's very that's a very big. That's a very like Nave Phil news segment.
[00:05:42] I love it. Well, no, that's the film news. You want to hear the Nave news. Do you know who Sneco is? No, no, I don't. He's this fucking moron. But it doesn't matter. The only thing is that he got like fucking hadoukened by a by a security
[00:05:57] guard outside of a club and broke a tooth. Hold on. Let me send this shit to you guys because I have a video. I said it to my friends, but I've been really watching it. You can or shiroukins? Sure. Sure.
[00:06:07] I don't know. Actually, it's more like a Falcon punch. Like you just got to look at it. It's an eight second video. I clip just the part that has the punch in it. Are you texting it in? No, come on. That's a full on fatal fury.
[00:06:20] Terry punch. Terry punch. Is that what that is? I don't know what that punch. Where does that look like to you? Yeah, it's in the group. I put it I did a retweet on Twitter and I did the Kirby upbeat with that the fucking thing.
[00:06:33] You know what I mean? Where he comes down with the punch. It's all his weight there. Punching right. Oh, my God. Broke his tooth. So I that guy is famous right now, but he broke Snico's tooth, which is good for him. Good for him. Sneak. Oh, my God.
[00:06:51] There is the the Terry punch. The power dunk. That is exactly. Philip really nailed it. Philip really nailed it. That is actually what it is. I don't care about fatal fury, though, or whatever. I don't even know how you know about that. Oh, yeah.
[00:07:07] I play a lot of retro games, none of which I enjoy. But anyway, that was fun. That was fun to relive in my head for a second. All right. Yeah. But we're talking about Lords of the Fallen, the new one.
[00:07:20] But before we get there, let's just check in with all games we have been playing. So, Naive, what games have you been playing? Yeah. So I said that I was in a bad mood and it's because I've only been playing one game and it's called inscription.
[00:07:36] It's an amazing game. A while ago, didn't you? Yeah, I played it when it first came to Xbox a lot. I beat the story. I started there's an end game called Casey's Mod, and I was messing around with that, but it's kind of hard.
[00:07:45] So I was like, fuck this. I don't I don't need the high blood pressure, but I'm back. I don't I don't remember what brought me back in, but I started playing inscription again and I am hell bent. So in the Casey's Mod, you basically turn on modifiers.
[00:07:59] They're literal skulls. They're just like in Halo. And there's an achievement for doing lasso with all the skulls turned on. And so I've been trying to do that. And it is there's a reason why the word cry
[00:08:11] is in the middle of inscription, because this game is fucking agonizing. Sometimes like literally every run within the first battle. Like you got you got like 50 to 60 runs that don't even make it past the first boss. And then you have one glimmer of hope.
[00:08:27] So I finally beat level 12 and I was doing it with the newest skull, which is just a bare wall. If people play description, you know what I'm talking about. But if not, that doesn't matter. It's just impossible.
[00:08:37] It's impossible to beat unless you have a very specific like set of circumstances that a.k.a. why it takes like 60 matches just to get an actual successful run. Well, just before I was playing, I was doing my lasso run. I did three games. One was promising.
[00:08:54] I died, though. And then the second one was terrible and I died right away. And then the third one, I only had enough time for one more. This third run was going all the way. I had everything I needed. This is the run. No, this was the run.
[00:09:07] I had a choice. I came to a crossroads. I hit the guide button and I saw that the podcast is in. We need we do the podcast at six central time every week. It is five fifty three. And I go, OK, I could be late.
[00:09:24] And Phil is going to be mad. And that's what I want to do. But today I'm going to turn and turn a new cheek. I'm going to show up early. So I hit pause and I went to go to leave,
[00:09:37] return the title and I accidentally hit one of the analog sticks and went to end run. Oh, my God. And as soon as I did it instinctively guide. Yes. Press start. Quick game. Yeah. Yeah. Unsuccessful. The run was ended. I went into my fucking I went.
[00:09:58] So the whole time, Rachel's here watching me play this game and she's playing it too. So she's been watching me. She watched like the fifty five, sixty runs that were unsuccessful. She's like, oh, my God, he's going to do it. She saw me accidentally do this.
[00:10:12] Then she saw me go into my games, go into managed saves and start on it. And she's like, oh, my God, are you going to delete it? And I was like, no, I'm I'm going to delete my save and saving get the crowd back here.
[00:10:25] Unsuccessful. The run's gone. I'm not going to get another run like that for another five hours. So unfortunately, I'm going to have to be grinding that again. So thanks, Philip, for that. I blame you directly. And then you went live to the podcast.
[00:10:41] So now it doesn't even matter. I was only 40 minutes late. It doesn't matter. Inscription's a good game. I was though this is the thing is like I was like as soon as I beat Lassow, I'm going to make a I'm going to put in the tier list
[00:10:56] like I beat it again this year. I'm not going to do that. It's going in S tier. When I do beat it. Yeah, but then we got to play just put it like normal playthrough as tier Casey's playthrough D. It's so brutal.
[00:11:13] It's literally just waiting for the game. I know what speed runners feel now at this point when they're the RNG. Yeah, I'm just waiting for the RNG to come through. This is like the Mike Tyson punch out RNG like. Oh, but I was really
[00:11:28] I was really upset when that happened. And then I was going to go into the podcast for that energy. Luckily, I've drank a little bit of monster and I'm calm. I'm a little bit calm. I'm obviously not that calm, but I'm a little bit calm.
[00:11:41] Oh, no. All right. Well, while you were playing inscription, which I got to say for the last like three days, every time I log in, you're playing inscription and I invite you to a party. So I'm like, maybe we could make some progress in Lords of the Fallen.
[00:11:53] And you never answer the last two days. People have been over. Like it's been busy. People, I know who needs people when you have podcasting. Yeah. Yeah. That's what I tried to tell them, but they make me down and spit on me.
[00:12:11] Yeah, it's that it's that the frog with the food tray he fell over. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, memes. All right. Well, with that, let's go into the games I've been playing. Unless you got anything else. No, just that.
[00:12:28] So I have been kind of like a loss in the sauce as far as games going. I don't know where I'm going, where I'm coming. Who's doing what? What I'm playing. I've just lost track of myself since I finished whatever else I finished before.
[00:12:42] I don't know what I was playing, but for some reason I stopped playing something and it was hard for me to find a new game. But Callisto Protocol, I picked up because it went straight to Game Pass Series X version, all that all that jazz.
[00:12:55] I played maybe an hour of it. By the way, right at the time I'm playing in Japanese. It has full Japanese voice cast. I know it's not a Japanese studio, but their localization seems pretty damn good. About an hour in at this point. Fantastic game.
[00:13:09] Oh yeah. Well, explain why I can read shoot. OK, this is actually funny because even though the text in game is like that, I'm wondering when I get to this point in the game if it's going to actually be written in Japanese
[00:13:22] because all of the like the laser writing on the wall where it's like you're in the prison section, you know, and it's like danger lockdown and stuff like that. And it's written in the wall in the actual textures. It's written in Katakana.
[00:13:36] I don't know if it's like that when you played in English. Do you remember? I don't think it's written in Katakana normally. I don't think it's normal yet. No. Well, I'm saying like in games like Dead Space and Cyberpunk,
[00:13:51] they just throw fucking Katakana all over the goddamn place and Kanji and chill like that. So I was wondering if like maybe it's a multicultural prison. And so there's or whatever on Europa like they have. I was going to be like, no. But then I think about it.
[00:14:05] I think you're right. There are multiple languages in Dead Space. I mean, cyberpunk is obvious, but like in Dead Space, I'm pretty sure there are signs with different languages on it. Yeah. Yeah. So I don't know.
[00:14:16] Like a lot of the signs do have Kanji and Katakana on them. And I'm like, oh, that's really immersive. I wonder if this is a localization thing that the developers win an extra step because like, you know, the UI, of course, is fully converted.
[00:14:29] They have audio or voice actors. The whole the whole conversion is great. And you can even control them independently, too. So it's like if I want Japanese voices with English subtitles with German UI, I can like each one as it can have an independent setting. Very cool games.
[00:14:48] Oh, everyone was apparently bitching about the combat system with like the fighting where you do Mike Tyson's punch out. Second reference for Mike Tyson. I don't mind it so far. Like, I don't know if it gets worse late game,
[00:15:00] but in the beginning, it's actually like I don't think I've ever played a game with this type of melee system in it. This is the thing is that people this was like a spiritual successor to Dead Space, so people were expecting it to be just that space again.
[00:15:12] And any variation from that deviation is what I meant to say that they were going to hate no matter what. So the combat's fine. I thought the combat was fine. It's weird because it's like so many games are just like,
[00:15:24] I'm just going to put Dark Souls in this game or whatever. And it's a Star Wars game. So I guess that's fine. You know, for the Lost Jedi or whatever it's called. And like, that's fine. Or it's like action like, oh, it's just Devil May Cry.
[00:15:38] But you know, a different game. This is like this feels kind of like do you remember the hand fighting in Grand Theft Auto four? Oh, no, it is kind of like that. But it's like better is the better version of that. It's so fucking funny.
[00:15:54] You said because I played GTA four a little bit, like maybe a month ago. So it is fresh in my mind. I got drunk and when I'm punching civilians and I'm like, God damn, I miss this game. Dude, the hand fighting is weirdly detailed where it's like
[00:16:07] you actually get in there, mix it up, just like rope it up. Yeah, so stupid. You can't just smash the punch and they'll just block it the whole time. Yeah, you can't do the fucking what is it? The fatal dive or whatever power dunk.
[00:16:24] Yeah. And speaking of power dunks, so remember how you can drink and drive in that game and you wouldn't put on a seatbelt. So if you got into a crash, you fly out of the windshield. Yeah, it's funny every time. It's great.
[00:16:36] Grand Theft Auto four is a hidden gem. Is it is it? I'm sure it sold very well. Oh, I mean, it did so well. But people look back on it. They're like, oh, the game is shitty. It's brown. I hate it.
[00:16:47] I think it's a joke, though, is that everything's brown and shit? Yeah, everything's brown and shitty. It's New York. All right. But besides that, the only other thing I've really been playing, of course, Octopath Traveler 2 is always going on in the background.
[00:16:58] It's going to take me another 40 hours to finish that game at this rate. But the one I want to talk about is Mystery Portable. Yusogami Kuro no Chosen. This is a port of a PlayStation two game for the PSP.
[00:17:14] I thought I said I thought it was my street and you just typed it really bad. It's mystery. It is the second one in the series because I didn't realize there was a first one where the game is really good,
[00:17:26] except you have the most light Yagami ass smug bastard as a main character. This dude that's playing fucking Choplin on the cover, he is a real. Smug son of a bitch. Yeah, because he is like, I don't know if you ever watched,
[00:17:42] like, you know, any detective anime like Conan or anything like that. Yeah. Where it's like case closed case closed. Yeah. Where they they solve it all in their head and stuff like that. But this guy's always just saying stuff like I already detected this
[00:17:55] when I walked in the room and, you know, hey, it pushes his glasses up his nose. Yeah, like I know you would notice all this in the Japanese. Yeah. Oh, wow. Like this, the screenshot I put here is like in England, scary, scary person attacks something.
[00:18:17] Yeah, you can tell he's getting a lot of the info. Jack the Ripper, Jack the Ripper two days before. Just make it his own anime stories. No fucking. Literally Jack the Ripper. Oh, my God. Great. Great. The story is amazing. It's like you just made up right there.
[00:18:37] You see premise is in the first game, it's about Jack the Ripper and that girl, her whole family gets killed by Jack the Ripper and he saves her and she becomes like hurt his like assistant and calls him like Sama, like Lord. Oh, great. It's not great.
[00:18:55] It's better. It's less blurry, but the game is good. But I just hate the anime main character. That's better than everyone else. And just talk shit to everyone. The joke was, I made it smaller. You made it real small. I made it really small.
[00:19:11] That's all the games I've been playing. I can see the con. I see the congee for Jack the Ripper. It's the smiley face. Yeah, that's not that means Jack the Ripper. No, no. Oh, the little sideways, the sideways smile. Yeah. OK.
[00:19:25] So the first one, the first thing before the little dot is Jack. The one after that in the middle, that is the which is how they say the and then after that is Ripper. So it's more like or like thoughts are to separate.
[00:19:40] Yes, the separate for like English names like that. Oh, OK. Cool. And that's kind of Kana. Yeah, it's kind of Kana for selling out English letters. If you go in the top left, the first thing he says, Igarisu, that's England. Hmm. Oh, no board. OK. Yeah, the language.
[00:19:58] I can't even see what we're talking about. I'm not putting this in the thumbnail. So you mean you don't want to put like you see how big the girl's eyes are? Just put I just put the whole text box in the in the girl's face
[00:20:12] at the bottom of the thumbnail. Oh, God. Perfect. I might know. I maybe won't. I don't know. Nasty Nate. What have you been playing in your nasty games? Yeah, I've been playing the couple. Fucking picture that you. Is that Henry? That's Henry.
[00:20:31] So I've been playing some Kingdom Come Deliverance, the first one getting ready for the second one that's coming out soon. I love this game, boys. It's like it's funny. It's like kind of realistic in the way of like the details that they put
[00:20:46] in like the castles, the weapons, like the armor sets, the peasants. Yeah, like all that kind of stuff. They really did their their homework and their like the research on how life was in the medieval times. And like I think this was where was this check?
[00:21:04] I don't know what it's called now. Check the Slovakia Czech Republic. And now it's called something else. Iran, Czech, Czechia, Czechia. I think it's Czechia now or something like that. I apologize to any of your Czech listeners, but all 600 of them is actually where the majority of our
[00:21:23] our listeners come from. So, yeah, I've been playing this one. It is so fun. If if you guys see it for like five bucks, like it's a it's a definite buy. Like the the fighting is very different from what you're used to.
[00:21:37] And it's very frustrating like to figure out the fight. But when you when you get it, when you get it, it's like fun and refreshing. Kind of it's not just hack and slash like Skyrim, you know,
[00:21:48] you're you're you've got to like try to figure out where the guy's going to attack you and then move your joystick to to block it in coming that way. And then you have to do certain combos to like get him off his guard and stuff like that.
[00:22:01] It's really cool. The story's fun. The characters are very funny. There's funny quests. It's a it's a great game. I'm like 20 some hours into it right now. I think I'm maybe halfway through it, but like it's it's massive. Like the game is massive.
[00:22:18] Yeah, a bunch of DLCs for now, but it's very, very, very, very good. My favorite thing is has like a fable intro where you like your dad sends you like to, I don't know, like pick up an axe from a store
[00:22:30] and you can like sell it and then you can go gambling and drinking with the money. And it's so good. So there's one there's this one quest where you have to help the the friar or the priest and he gets drunk.
[00:22:45] The priest gets drunk the night before and he's like, Oh, I can't go to church and do my sermon drunk. You have to do it for me. And then you have to stand in front of the church and like give his sermon and you have to control.
[00:22:56] You know, Latin the crowd. No, it's in English. It's like but the crowd is like either will like boo you or like cheer you on. You have to like feed off the crowd and see what they like with your with the options that you do.
[00:23:08] And the better you do, then he'll help you out in the next quest. It's so funny. It's so good. How many listeners do you think we have in Czech or Czesniak? One, at least one. We've had 42 downloads from them. What? Forty two. Yeah. Wow.
[00:23:23] They're less than one percent of all our listeners. Well, there you go. So I apologize to those listeners. Please don't send Nate come in the mail. Don't do that. Well, they weren't. So you brought it up. But playing that one.
[00:23:40] And then I've been playing Elden Ring, getting ready for Erdry. What is this picture? You put it in just red. This is my this is my game silhouette photo. Yeah, this one on my ultra wide. Dang, I didn't know we had a there's a photo mode.
[00:23:56] The picture is very wide. Yes. Yeah, it's a wide one. You know, I can fix that for you. Yeah, you're just going to crop it. OK. We're no more shenanigans with the pictures in the notes. The listeners don't like these jokes. Sorry.
[00:24:14] For those who know, I squished it to like a four by three. Made my heart hurt. My heart is really stupid, though. Yeah, it's just a squish. But playing on Gameboy. But I got it on PC this time.
[00:24:30] Dude, it looks like, you know, Gameboy, everything is a different shade of green. Yeah, yeah. It looks like that. It's red. Yeah. All right. Playing that, though, I bought it on PC this time. I had it on PS5, sold it.
[00:24:45] Rebought it on PC so I could mod it. I made the game a little bit easier so I could get to the DLC. Or just using trainers a little to get to the DLC entry point,
[00:24:55] because I only got till Thursday when the DLC drops and I need to get it done. So just been kind of running through it. It's so sick. Oh, my God, it's fucking dropping that soon. Yeah, it's dropping this week. It'll be out before it'll be out.
[00:25:07] The episode is going to be out. And what am I trying to say? I'm having a shit load of... You said it. Yeah, you said it there. But yeah, Elden Ring, I've already beaten it. So I'm just ripping through it. Samurai build. Pretty sick. Pretty sick.
[00:25:23] That's pretty much it. Oh, and Lords of the Fallen with Naeve a couple of times. Yeah, because you got to get your Elden Ring skills ready. Yeah. They're the same game, right? Just playing the Lords of the Fallen just made me want to play Elden Ring. Nice, nice.
[00:25:42] Did you get to the alien DLC or the alien expansion? Oh, I've been playing Starfield too. I pumped that back up because the creation kit came out. Hmm. Oh, how's that? And I made Starfield into Star Wars.
[00:25:57] So now I'm just playing an entire Star Wars game in the Starfield galaxy. That sounds fucking cool. It should be. Yeah, like you can get Boba Fett. You can an entire Boba Fett suit get the if you want to get
[00:26:12] like the serious mods where they're kind of a little bit more complicated, you can get his ship. You can get like the Naboo fucking ship, all that stuff. Oh, this reminds me because you talk now you talk about mods and also Elden Ring.
[00:26:23] Did you see that somebody modded old Kratos into Elden Ring? Yeah, with the blazing chaos. And it like it gives you an entire new moveset like with the blazing chaos. It's great. Mods are so sick. They're so good.
[00:26:36] This little this little this little champ computer that I'm tapping. Get her run some Elden Ring. Dude, I'm telling you, you just buy a mobile PC, get a used team deck or something and that'd be good enough. You can you can dock it. You can play low res.
[00:26:50] I don't want to do anything with a fucking dock because now that my fucking switch still doesn't work. Oh, yeah. Well, I mean, you don't need a dock. You can just plug a cable in, you know, and then. But yeah, that's about it. Oh, my God. Wait.
[00:27:04] Speaking of aliens. Yeah, hold on. I got to fucking show you guys something. It's YouTube video time, baby. Let's go. You're editing this one, right? About all the silence and all you typing. I'm not editing out shit. Oh, my God.
[00:27:18] You make me so annoyed whenever you don't edit out long periods of us waiting for somebody to pull some of the. Let me pull up and am I the asshole? I forget. I didn't even you forget. What are you doing?
[00:27:29] Nothing to do. Just sit there and do it. You're like, I got to do the timestamps really well. It is like, yeah, the timestamps are good. But could you get the silence to it's so natural, though. Now everyone just like feels like they're here with us.
[00:27:43] What is this? What we got here? What is this? Gary's mom looking here at the park? The park. I think it's a Spanish. Oh, my God, it's a nail. He's a foreigner. Tell me that's a spaceship. We found the location. This has been in my mind all day.
[00:28:12] Every day, I see Dave driving his mail truck. Just dead. I don't know. What in tarnation? That it is. It's on Spotify now. Now this is some good stuff. Oh, terrific. Trailer Park, a alien by Brandon Jamar Scott. Naver you buy?
[00:28:45] Um, I bought two games were on sale for like three dollars. So I bought 13, which is a remaster of 13. Believe it or not. That's like a cell shade game. This game apparently sucks like the remaster. But I mean, just looking at the screenshot, it looks goddamn terrible.
[00:29:03] Well, for Xbox, no regular Xbox. I don't. Yeah, it was like it was like that generation game game and whatever. And then I used in Chronicles rising. Question mark, I don't know. It looks like HD 2D JRPG or maybe it's a hack and slash. I don't know.
[00:29:19] I think it's hack and slash. Yeah, one of them. That's the thing. One of them is like JRPG and the other one's like a different genre. And I don't know which one this one is, but I think it's the older one. And the shorter one, which is cool.
[00:29:32] I like shorter games. Yeah, I did just go to so I fucking I'm going to a concert. I'm going to a rave on Wednesday and then with a bunch of people. And I'm also I also just got done going to see Spite,
[00:29:46] which is like a fucking super fucking hardcore, like like just a hardcore band. And I take a lot of pictures whenever I go to shows like Philip knows. I'm always taking pictures, putting them up on Facebook and shit. Sometimes I post them in like our discord stuff.
[00:30:00] While after Spite was playing, I went to the merch booth and I was like the second one from the front and I'm like sitting there kind of deleting pictures and stuff. And we're just waiting for the merch guy to show up.
[00:30:10] And I glance to my right and there's a guy standing there watching me like delete these pictures. And it's the fucking singer for Spite. But I don't notice this at first. So I look back down on my phone.
[00:30:22] I go back to deleting pictures of the guy that I just and I look again and he's just kind of watching me. And then someone runs up and is like, hey, can I get a picture? And I'm like, I want a picture like I'm looking at my pictures.
[00:30:36] I got a picture with the singer from Spite and he was he was a fucking super nice guy. He was really cool. And so I talked to him for a minute, which is crazy because he sounds like a fucking a literal animal on whenever he's screaming.
[00:30:49] He's a crazy vocalist. Like, I don't know any other vocalist that sounds like him. He sounds primal. So I fucking love that man a lot. So that was a really cool experience. Also got a big ass bruise on my titty from getting elbowed in the pit.
[00:31:12] I put another video up of someone do hardcore dancing and everyone was like, oh, fuck it, air karate. I hate it. And I'm like, no, I like it's cool. And then I get fucking destroyed.
[00:31:21] So this like there is this black girl in the pit and she elbowed me in the head as I was we were running and doing a circle fit. And I was like, oh, I got to just wear a check out.
[00:31:33] Yeah, I'll show up with a helmet, a helmet and some football. Some dads. And I'll fucking just run ahead first into people's stomachs like fucking Ed, Ed and Eddie. Isn't that a scene in that anywhere? Probably fucking. I guarantee you. All right.
[00:31:49] But also I have a little news about things that I have been bought. Father's Day just happened this last Sunday and my kids got me. Father's Day. Thanks. I got three kids. I'm a father. I'm winning the the genetic race or whatever. I'm very what's what's the word?
[00:32:07] Racist. I don't know words. I don't I don't read books. Oh, I'm fit for survival. I'm procreating. They are. Yeah. Anyways, race, racist. OK, that's fine. You're winning the race. OK, I got an elite controller, the red and black one.
[00:32:23] Oh, we really is it like there's two of them, right? What the control? Yeah, be to dream or something. Oh, yeah. He got the core thing because I thought mine. I bought whenever I bought in a box. Core GameStop. Nice.
[00:32:37] So I got like the all the different paddles and shit, not paddles, but you know what I mean? Yeah, that was that. Yeah, that one's got I don't know what the big difference was between. I mean, this one just the core does not have the attachments
[00:32:49] such as the paddles and the different joysticks and the different D pad. But you have and do you have the little case that charges your controller? No, it just came to the cable. Oh, yeah. I have like a cordless case.
[00:33:03] So it just charges when I set it down on it. I didn't get that. I got one too, but I bought like the first generation, the really shitty ones that always break. The beat is also always breaks. So she said, like, let's get this out there.
[00:33:16] But they're still like the greatest. I love I love my elite controller. It feels so good. It feels heavy. I like that. Like it's weird how much I like a heavy controller because you figure like, oh, maybe you'll fatigue your hand or something.
[00:33:30] But it's like I have these little Chinese like high yo joy pads connected to my switch, which are just like up for my man hands. You know, the problem is that they're they're just bigger. So it's just like hollow plastic.
[00:33:44] So I'm thinking about cracking them open and just like the chip. The chip is like this big. And yeah, controllers like this. And there's like something about opening up. There's no vibration in it either.
[00:33:55] So I'm like, I need to load it up and just load it with like pennies or lead weights or something like that just to make the switch heavier in my hands. Fill it with cement. Yeah. Speaking of those controllers, I humble plug. I was on Super Pod Saga.
[00:34:09] Their episode just came out last week. So listeners go listen to that episode, episode ninety nine about controllers, literally about our favorite and worst controllers. I remember at some point in that episode, I don't remember why, but they started making we were like talking about Trump
[00:34:23] and we started making fun of him. And then we were like, they're like, what do you think Trump's favorite? And I was like, the Duke. It's got to be the day. Yeah. And then we started. You got to go. It's really funny. Yeah. They say I was like
[00:34:39] the Duke controllers very good. It's very nice. Much better than the Japanese stuff. Better than my big hands. Very good. I have excellent hands. I'm just thinking like, I don't like any of the Sega controllers. It's going to I love Dreamcast. I love what controller.
[00:34:57] What? Oh, you guys have to listen. Yeah. Then maybe they maybe it'll be hot takes. Maybe there won't be. All right. But whatever. I also got some headphones that read they match my controller. They're like turtle beaches. They're much nicer than the ones I'm currently wearing.
[00:35:11] They're wireless, too. So I don't know, Naive, if my sound quality has been better lately or not, or if you've even noticed. No, I got bad ears. I got your headphones matter about your because this one has like the little tiny
[00:35:25] shitty stick that comes out and it gets like twisted. It just yeah, like I'm talking. And it's like it's like half broken because the cat comes over and like chews on it while I'm while I'm gaming. Fuck. Now you get a speed bag. Yeah.
[00:35:39] Now you can use that one as a decoy, the decoy for the cat and then use your your your new ones. Well, no, I mean, I had two of these. We've actually had three of these. And yeah, it was like one.
[00:35:50] My daughter broke off the ox part into one of the controllers. And I'm like, I've never seen that happen before. It's somehow she did it like whatever. I don't think we ever got the ox part out. So just one controller with an embedded ox into the thing.
[00:36:06] That's fine. We have like 12 Xbox controllers in the house. And like, you know, only them work. Two of them work. You know, the rest are just maybe parts one day. But there's that we had another one. But the dog came over and just bit off the end.
[00:36:19] Just like the part that you plug in, just completely bit it off. And I couldn't even find it. So I'm like, maybe I can reattach it. It's just gone. It's in a turd somewhere. Yeah, it's in a turd somewhere.
[00:36:28] Yeah. And I have this one which has like holes in the mic where the cat has come over and just crunched it and chewed it up real bad. So I was doing for new headphones. I'm so glad that Molly doesn't chew shit up
[00:36:40] unless I give it to her explicitly to destroy. That's nice. That's nice. It's great. Unless it's a trash bag. If I leave a trash bag out, it is a rip and tear. Yeah, it's fucking awful. So I have to leave it outside in the 90 degree weather.
[00:36:54] The dog or the trash man? Yes. No, they'll die. All right. And also, my kids got me a Rubik's cube, which I've been I started. I've been starting Cuban speaking in one film has been playing. I'm a cuber now.
[00:37:10] And my fastest time is four minutes and ten seconds. I'm not shut up about it. You have you have a machine that randomizes it when you're done. No, did they sell those? I think so. It's like some I robot shit. Yeah, I know.
[00:37:25] Or do you just give it to your kids to like mess up again? No, I mean, any cube can be randomized in like eight moves or something like that. You know, it's like after like was like eight different rotations.
[00:37:35] A cube can not get more randomized than what it is. Really? Yeah. It's like any cube can be solved in like a minimum of 12 moves or something like that. The world records like three seconds. Like it's not hard to solve these. Yeah.
[00:37:47] Well, yeah, it is for a guy like me who doesn't cube or just pattern. It's just please stop calling. It's not a verb. What do you want to call it? I don't do you do you do you do? I don't know. I hate this.
[00:38:05] And when I'm not cubing, I'm chilling for money. So time to thank our patrons. Berserk of this Mr. Quang, Insane Cracker, Nick Knight and the Intergalactic Mind Cone. Thank you for all your support at this point.
[00:38:16] Many of you guys have been with us for a very long time. And honestly, without it, we'd probably still be doing the pod, but it wouldn't be as fine. I would be out in the streets using Walmart connection. Yeah, I'd be very sad.
[00:38:30] So dear listeners home, if you want to, I don't know, more from us, then we probably need more of a budget, which currently our budget is a deficit. We don't actually have a budget, you know? So consider supporting us. We we will read your name.
[00:38:45] We will be appreciative. And also, sometimes we do fun things and we will put you into those fun things. If I could find a way to do that, I love that. And with that, it's time to go into our asshole section. And Nate, I see you.
[00:39:00] What the fuck is this? It was on your list. Put on your list. You put this on there. What's wrong with this one? It's like not safe. Nothing. Let's go. All right. I found this one today, by the way. Well, I immediately picked up.
[00:39:17] You picked a banger, I guess. It was like at the top of the list. And I'm like, this has to mention video games at some point. And it did. Like I'm like, well, it's number eight. It was number eight on the list.
[00:39:28] Yeah. I mean, I just throw them in wherever. Oh, yeah. It's from 15 hours ago. This just happened. Wow. This is hot news. Oh, Philip, I was going to mention this. Do you think we should have a break before the M.I.
[00:39:40] the asshole and then have another one after the M.I. the asshole since that's this section last so long usually? I mean, that's a lot of breaks. That's what I'm saying. The first break is always two hours into the episode. I mean, you're not wrong.
[00:39:52] I agree with you. I think that probably would be prudent, but then we wouldn't have a break before final words, but I don't know if really need one there. Final words is always like five minutes long. All right, fine. New break time happened a minute ago.
[00:40:07] Nave edited in that. That's a place. Please do a no patriot. That's a black. OK, so what you may have blasted? You got the test, but we got the track. This we got the. Bastards better give up. All right. And we're back.
[00:40:24] Nate, I noticed that you have already found a. We're not doing it again. So looking at it, this is a an account with only one post. And that's this. Yeah. So I guess. How is the metal? Nice. Yeah, but it's pedal with a T. Oh. Petal exquisite.
[00:40:45] Do I have to read this? Yeah. Yeah. I need the sound effects too. I see a lot of sound effects in this one. OK, here we go. I'll try. My friend, my friend's girlfriend keeps coming in her mic. Am I the asshole? Yeah. If you. Why? Why? Yeah.
[00:41:11] Yeah, yeah. This is really weirding me out and I have no idea what to do. I have a friend called Jeff 20 male and he has a girlfriend called Amy 21 female. I don't know why, but randomly on VC voice calls. Yes. Yeah. Voice call. What shot? Yeah.
[00:41:27] She will literally sound like she's coming. It's not a grunt or groan because she is tired. She will literally be be like sexually, like, quote unquote. I was really hoping you were going to go. That's what I sound like when I come. All right. Or or or.
[00:41:57] Everyone is silent. It's a good ravioli. Mamma Mia, spicy meatball. Mm. Holy Maglione, mama Maglione. And everyone is silent. It's so awkward and strange. And she will do this roughly five times per voice. Bold. Wow. Times. That's weird. After more and more moaning, I said, are you OK?
[00:42:22] She says she's fine. And we said, OK, it's just you're like doing some weird moaning. She said she wasn't. Took offense to it and thought I would and thought I was joking. My friends have questioned her, too, about this, but the replies are the same.
[00:42:37] We've asked Jeff and he said it doesn't sound weird and he doesn't care what it is. I don't get it. I wouldn't need it. OK, with it. Yeah. We have sorry. We have said plenty of times to her. Why are you moaning and stop coming in your mic?
[00:42:53] And she ignores us just to add, in case this gets asked. She doesn't have a speech impediment or a disability. These are bullet points. This is a bullet point. This isn't some sort of bit or gag.
[00:43:05] We've asked her this and she says, no, she's not that kind of person. And this has lasted way too long for it to be one. Not the long con. She's not that kind of person. And this is for long.
[00:43:16] She's not the kind of person to do bits. Yeah. I don't make jokes. I don't gag. Everyone can hear this. It's not on a soundboard and it's definitely coming. From her. Myself and my friends are not keen messaging her privately, as she is generally a very mean person.
[00:43:35] Oh, yeah. She doesn't do gags. About about our nothing. We don't know why she's I don't know why he's dating her. A huge conundrum about our nothing. Hmm. Jeff doesn't care about it and doesn't seem like it's a problem. Jeff and Amy live together.
[00:43:53] I do just voice chats with Jeff on his own sometimes, but 99 percent of the time he will go, my girlfriend wants to join and she will play a game or chat with us. She gets a game engine. A gaming machine. Yeah.
[00:44:05] She gets jealous if I'm just in a call with him alone. Oh, what's the worst part on earth? Do I do? Yes. Yeah. Petal to the metal, maybe. I would assume. Yeah, I got that from the name also.
[00:44:19] Oh, I was kind of reading it as like a male. And what on earth do I do? And why could she be doing this? Could she be generally just jerking herself off in voice chat? Am I the answer for calling her out like this? Wow. OK.
[00:44:40] Yeah, I'm thinking. Let me think for a second. Computing is yeah. OK, assuming she is coming on my. Or she's just masturbating in voice chat and is. I don't think. Hold on. No, they live together. I think if I think worst case scenario,
[00:45:02] they are doing something together and they're like, no, it's not happening. But that's like part of the kink, right? Like they're getting off to that. Yeah. Yeah. People are listening and they can hear like that. It might be a thing that's happening.
[00:45:15] That's probably the thing that's at the front of my mind right now. What's the meme is like whatever that fappy noise is quiet down. Yeah. Like, is it always like when they're they're always in the group chat call together?
[00:45:31] Yeah, it's got to be some kind of kink or. Oh, like Jeff's into it and they're. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They're like, Exponent Expeditionist Expeditionaries. Yeah. He's quietly do it in public. Like that. Yeah, I can see that. I can see that. But how he's denied it to.
[00:45:49] I wonder if he's told any of his like guy friends and not his girlfriends. Yeah, no, that ruins the that ruins the mysticism about it. Then that's true, too. This seems pretty obvious. You cannot be more. Keep saying, I don't know what you're talking about, man.
[00:46:08] I don't know. What if what if she just forgets to mute herself and she's just like a porn addict and she's always just watching porn and clicking the mouse, you know, or butter in the biscuit? How many times could this possibly happen on accident? Every time, apparently.
[00:46:24] Man, I bet you every time she sits at her computer, she's just on porn. People do that. Not just me. It's called gooning. We've been over this. I know, but it says when they're gaming. So they're dropping war zone right now. Gooning does not wait for anything.
[00:46:38] Oh, my God. Maybe she is watching porn while gaming. And it's actually just the porn bleeding into the mic from her headset. And she's like, it's not me. It's not me. They have to wait and see if she ever talks while the moaning is happening.
[00:46:54] Yeah, you can't talk. You don't have to vote like false cord it. Well, it's funny is like the top recommendation or whatever is saying just record the voice chat and then play it back to her and be like, this is what we're talking about if they deny it.
[00:47:08] Whoa. OK. Hold on. Yeah. You got to wait. No. Let me be a legal advisor here and you make sure you're in a one party state first before you start recording people without their consent. Is that a thing? Yes.
[00:47:21] Well, not like you seldom just say like, hey, guys, I'm going live which right now there's no maybe you want to do anything weird. Like early. Does he say like it always happens or does she say that it always happens? It says five times for voice call.
[00:47:38] Yeah. So quite a bit. Yeah. Like consistently consistently. So I'd be like what I would do is like, OK, I'm going to record this for streaming purposes and see if there's any kind of moaning at all. And then, you know that she's either not watching porn
[00:47:54] or she knows that she's doing it. She knows she's doing it. I think like, OK, so here's one thing. There are some people that I played games with where they breathe into the mic sometimes and it's like a consistent thing. Do you think so is what is OK?
[00:48:10] So there's a bunch of bullet points here. But what I want to know is, is Amy a larger person with like breathing problems? Because there's no speech impediment or disability, but people who are heavier set usually breathe heavier. You know what I mean?
[00:48:25] Because they got a lot of like they got a lot of weight. Why? I don't know how it works, dude. I'm not a biologist. But sometimes people breathe into their microphone a lot. And some people breathe in an exasperated fashion like it's like it's a survival thing.
[00:48:40] So and maybe it sounds like, oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah. She's got some good ravioli's in the. It's too much ravioli's. This was maybe the problem here. All right. Yeah, this is just stupid. Is she an asshole for calling her out?
[00:49:01] No, keep going around. This is like a fun game. I mean, if you really don't like it, they just mute her and move on. You know, wait, hold on. We've got the official answer right here. Between we and Otaku writes, record it, put a beat to it,
[00:49:14] send them it in a song and then be featured on gaming together like that alien song. Oh, you were. Yeah. But yeah, I don't I don't believe she's an asshole, but I also don't believe the Amy's an asshole either. She can come all she wants on her mic.
[00:49:37] She just got to remember to mute it. That's all. Or just be like, yeah, I come on, Mike. So what? What are you going to do about it? Yes. Own it. Join in. You know, I could be honest. Dude, moan back at her every time she does it.
[00:49:55] Every time. Yes. That's cool. That'd be cool. You're like, oh, here's. Oh, you're like, oh, oh. Mm hmm. Yummy. God damn it. It's so stupid. Oh, man. All right. I got one a bit more serious because I don't know if you guys are really
[00:50:15] understanding the gravitas that is to be a gamer in a conundrum, as he said earlier. Let's hear it, which I think he misused the word conundrum, but I'm not sure what he was trying to say. All right. This is one I grabbed.
[00:50:28] This is from deleted a year ago. Am I the butt face for holding a friendship hostage to resolve the issues I have with it? Serious. From deleted. Yeah. First off, guys, you don't need to hold friendships. It's hard to be friendly in a hostage situation. What? That's crazy.
[00:50:50] Like before we even get there. All right. Let's get into this. Leah, female 21 and I, male 25, played Undertale together for the her first time. Gaming mentioned Undertale. We had been friends for a few months at this point, and we're playing it drunk. Would you play Undertale drunk?
[00:51:10] It's a stick. I've never played it. It seems like a terrible game to play drunk. Give this man his keys. She chose an option I didn't agree with morally. She knew the options and picked this course of action. Like, let her play the fucking game.
[00:51:24] No, she picked the immoral choice. It was like playing. Have you ever played Catherine? You know, they have like between every stage, they have like a is it OK to cheat on your partner? Yes or no. And then like, yes.
[00:51:39] And then like your girlfriend is like, I'm breaking up with you. I like I don't fucking just click. But they let her play the game. No, hold on. There's more to it. She knew the options and pick this course of action.
[00:51:52] I was disappointed and said stuff with the intended effect of making her regret the action. Like, don't you feel bad doing that? Time for the guilt. It led to a call. Yeah, it led to a conversation about about Leah asking me
[00:52:08] to just give her the answers I want and disagreed. There's no point to her playing undertale if I give her my choices to the moral dilemmas. I pressed her about the choice she made and it got to the point where she admitted she chose it for convenience.
[00:52:23] I told her that action was gross to me. Leah replies, you say gross. I say fine. Hmm. Baste. Yeah. I explained how the choice she makes, especially when she thinks about the consequences are nonexistent, reflects how she will make most choices.
[00:52:41] She asked if we're thinking too deep on this. And I said no. Think of the shopping cart test. People who don't put their carts on my God clearly see themselves as the center of the world and don't consider the effects it has on the other shoppers and workers.
[00:52:55] I think something similar could be said here, since she basically betrayed someone who she had moments before said, I love them so much just because they became an obstacle. And a video game. And well, hold on. You didn't hear the shopping cart logic?
[00:53:11] Yes, I heard the shopping cart logic. At this point, Leah was tired of the argument and replies, slow down with just lip service answers like ye. She wasn't just finding her beliefs anymore and started to ignore me and just leave my messages read.
[00:53:27] I realize I was antagonizing her at this point. And clearly she both wasn't convinced and wasn't enjoying this heated debate on morals. At this point, I fear we probably wouldn't make good friends. And I tell her, maybe I should just go and stop being friends
[00:53:40] if I'm not a pleasant person to be around. Wow. This upsets her. She admits the sandbag in the conversation at the end, but thinks I'm overreacting to cut the friendship over her killing a character I like in a video game.
[00:53:53] I explained that it's more in this one more than this one argument. I give her examples of all the small gripes I've had. Yeah, give it to her. So they'll add it up. Also, how I'm bringing this up instead of ghosting her
[00:54:04] because I want us to talk through and find a solution. Leah says that I'm holding the friendship hostage to make her agree with me. I explained that either we talk it out and come to something we both like or I ghost her without holding the relationship hostage.
[00:54:20] And I ask her what she prefers to this day. We are still friends because of this. It was all over a minor issue. But I'm wondering if I'm the butt face for basically saying, stop sandbagging this conversation or I'm unfriending you.
[00:54:33] Leah has read this post and we both look forward to the replies. Oh, wow. Oh, so she's on. She's there. So she's confident that she knows which way this is probably going to go. Well, first of all, I think she's sandbagging the answers in Undertale
[00:54:51] because she doesn't give a shit to even play it. I think that is a lot of I think it's a big part of it. And he's like, oh, it's like my favorite game. You should play this game and I want to see what you think about it
[00:55:00] and play with me. And she's like, oh, she's like, yeah, next. Yeah, you can more like it or whatever. Like if that's the case, if that's the case and I was her, I'd be like, I don't like this game and I'm not going to play it.
[00:55:16] And this is the minute. It's a little weird. Yeah. Well, like, yes, he's being quite a big douchebag. Like I do that all the time in my video games. I go from polar opposites all the time. And I'm just like, yeah, what does this do?
[00:55:30] I don't actually role play the game like I'm my true person. I wouldn't role play this game as like my true person. Is he looking at it like, you know, you have to choose what you would choose in real life in this game.
[00:55:44] I mean, maybe he tried to establish that in the beginning. Like, this is what we're going to do. Like if this happened to you, if you got a zekide into Undertale, like I said, a Pokemon Nuzlocke, but it's emotionally Undertale.
[00:55:57] Yeah. So is Undertale the one where your mom's a goat and you can go through the whole thing without fighting someone? Right. Yeah. Yeah. The pacifism and the genocide runs and stuff. Yeah. And changes the ending based on how you interact with everyone.
[00:56:13] All your choices kind of matter. I'm not like a quadrillion percent sure like what I feel about this. I think that so he definitely is upset because she's not taking it as seriously as he would like her to take it.
[00:56:25] And he probably has some kind of like social ineptitude about him. Yeah, kind of similar to me. I you got to learn that people just aren't going to love the things that you love the same way that you love them.
[00:56:40] And if you try to force that on them, then it's only going to push people away. And I've learned this very fast because I listen to crazy fucking music and most of it sucks to most people. Like most of it doesn't sound like music to most people.
[00:56:54] So that's true. When I show them my favorite band and it sucks to them, I have to be like, that's fine. I didn't make it. I just love this. It's not that's not me. So they like me as a person. They don't like the music I like.
[00:57:08] I like I can't take it personally when people don't like the things that I like, like you're going to have to interact with people that aren't exactly carbon copies of you. You know, if you have a healthy mindset about social interaction.
[00:57:22] Yeah, that's that's right on the right on the money. He posted a lot of replies, by the way. Oh, yeah. Oh, God. One of my favorites scrolling through here is where to go. Lost it. Some grasshoppers were to go. OK, here it is.
[00:57:42] He's specifically saying everyone's like, oh, it's just a video game. He's like, it wasn't just a video game. There's one small stone on the pile. It's like, OK, he's like, I don't care about arguing if PB and J is tasty or not, or which characters are the best.
[00:57:54] But it's a worrying sign that things might run deeper. Like what if she hates grasshoppers or worse? Maybe she likes the feel of the squish under her shoe when she steps on them. I want to know which it is. Is what's what's her name? Leah, is she sadistic?
[00:58:11] It says a masochist, whatever. Yeah, he's unraveling a thread. Yeah. Based on your video game choices, I can tell that you like the squish grasshoppers. Yeah. And that you're an insane psychopath.
[00:58:23] I'm going to go out on a limb and say this guy is a big fan of disco Elysium. Oh, my God. I mean, if he likes Undertale, probably in the vibes here. So this is the thing is that what he's saying,
[00:58:35] I have a very similar thought path, like a thought path like he does. Like the only thing is that I don't try to just enforce myself on other people. I try to like stay out of as much out of the way as possible.
[00:58:46] But like the things he's talking about, I understand what he's saying. It's just that when you say it out loud in this way, it's like it comes off as very abrasive and aggressive. Right. Yeah. When he's forcing her to discuss it.
[00:59:00] Yeah. So it's like he wants to chill. You got to you got to let up as soon as she starts, like giving you one word answers be like, oh, I'm fucking up. I'm sorry. If I'm if I'm screwing up, you're going to have to tell me.
[00:59:11] And so that I I tell this to people all the time. It's like if I'm going crazy because I will go into a rabbit hole of like fucking psychology or something, like if we're talking about problems and shit at like you've got to stop me.
[00:59:23] You have to because I won't stop. I you have to do it or I'll go to sleep like something like one of those things are going to happen. Oh, it'll be a bedtime story for me. So like this person, they're still friends.
[00:59:35] So I am assuming the longer this Leah person gets to know Opie, the more she gets experience with the way that he talks and how she can navigate that and vice versa. I assume that they figured all this out already, but
[00:59:49] yeah, I try to I try to do that for friends and new friends, especially when it's people that like to talk about serious things with me because I won't shut up about serious things. And I like to just write out everything I'm thinking,
[01:00:04] just kind of the same way that I talk and ramble. I do that in text, but 10 times worse. What is Y.T.B.? You're the butt face. Yeah. Oh, OK. Such a Y.T.B. Yeah. I also think he kind of is that.
[01:00:21] Oh, yeah. For these shitty mind games. Yeah. Like this is fucked up. Well, I mean, he's not going to jail, but he's a real dick for basically forcing this on her when she's just fucking trying to play a game. Yeah. No, he's a dink.
[01:00:37] He's being a big old dink. Yeah, yeah. But I get it. I mean, I really do. Like I'm saying, I'm trying to I'm empathizing with them, but I really do get it because I when I play games with people
[01:00:46] like Rachel will be next to me and I'll be watching her play something. I will go. What do you think about that? How did you feel? Give me your give me your thought process. What's going on? I will. I can't do that.
[01:00:56] And but it but if I get like one word answers or whatever, I'm like, OK, I'm fucking up. I just you just got to know like not everyone's like paying attention to shit the same way. Yeah. Yeah. No, someone asked me that.
[01:01:07] I'd be like, I'd like get away from you. Like why are you talking like let me play my game? Yeah. And then you say that to him and he says, you know what? We're done. You know. Don't call me. Don't go by my house.
[01:01:21] Like you're the one that's like fucking up. Yeah. I'd be like, you know what? Stop sandbagging the conversation. That's the most insane part. It's like you're just like you're tired. Like, I don't want to deal with this.
[01:01:32] And it's like you not dealing with this is the problem now. I'll be like, I didn't realize it was a problem till you made it a problem. God. Yeah. Asshole. This guy's asshole. Yeah. Let her play the game. Let me play my game.
[01:01:46] Let me just we're just gaming here. All right, now that was a serious one. Find us a one that's not serious. Fuck. Seventy one. Seventy one. I went deep. She's yeah, I just kind of scrolled a lot. Oh, yeah. This one's a little interesting, a little nuanced.
[01:02:03] Also really fucking stupid. All right. Accomplish see 1052. Right. Am I the asshole for steel quote stealing quote art on an online quote? What do you mean stealing? What do you mean by art? What do you mean by game? Yeah. What do you mean?
[01:02:31] OK, I play an online game that allows players to make, quote, palettes, quote, that change the colors and appearance of the website and sell them to other users. What game is this? A few days ago, I offered I received an offer for one of these.
[01:02:48] I recognized the name of the user who made it. And I guess that it probably it was probably meant for someone else. But their work was in high demand or is in high demand and goes for crazy in-game prices. So I accepted the offer.
[01:03:03] Shortly after they sent me a message saying that they had meant to send it to someone else and asking me to please delete it. I apologized and said I would. I didn't really want to, though, so I kept it up.
[01:03:16] The maker saw this and sent me another less kind of message saying they saw it was still up and asked me to delete it again, comparing it to stealing art. They told me it was meant for someone else
[01:03:29] and they didn't want that user getting upset at someone else having the same design as them. I still declined and told them that it was rightfully mine now and they should have been more careful and just got a quote, whatever in response.
[01:03:50] I noticed today I had been removed from an in-game club they run and they blocked me. A few of my friends on the game asked how I got the design, saying that users work was impossible to get. And I told them the story.
[01:04:05] They almost unanimously said I was in the wrong. So am I the asshole for keeping it? I'm kind of confused on what this game is. But so this sounds almost like a Gaia or Maple Story type thing. That's what I was thinking. Yeah.
[01:04:24] I really don't know what the game is. That's great. Make palettes like color palettes. Like a color. That change the color and appearance of the website and sell them to other users. And maybe you can show it off like a like a MySpace page or something like that.
[01:04:42] Yeah, OK, OK. Yeah. It's like a steam profile or something. Yeah. Oh, yes, the steam has all that shit now, too. So it was very good. This guy makes bad ass profiles like a dude. I will hook up your MySpace profile. You won't even recognize it.
[01:04:59] I know all the HTML like it's incredible. So we get in there and this guy accidentally gets sent it right. Yeah, yeah. Actually a rare like a very because this guy is super busy. He doesn't just you know, like everyone's after his art, his MySpace art.
[01:05:18] Yeah, he's the best. He's the best. It's digital. Right. So yeah, the problem isn't that the person who paid for the art isn't going to get the art now. It's not like they sent the painting to the wrong address.
[01:05:34] They sent a copy of the painting to the address. Yeah. And so the person there, the artist is like the person who bought this might be upset that their art is on someone else's profile. Right. Yeah. And then your art isn't very unique anymore.
[01:05:53] Right. I'm assuming like he custom makes these MySpace these website colors for people based on their interests and stuff like that. Yeah. But like, what would happen if the artist never told the person? Like the original buyer? Yeah. Just never said anything. Just send them that thing.
[01:06:13] Would that guy ever find out? Oh, they're not. They're part of the they're part of the same game group. They're in the group. Yeah, it might like in like three or four weeks come down
[01:06:22] like a little scrolling page and be like, oh, he has the same fucking background as me. And I paid X amount to. To get this guy super rare. Oh, I don't know how that happened. That's crazy. And they just fucking go on with it.
[01:06:35] I'm not moaning in the mic. Yeah, just deny it. Deny deny. Oh, my God. Um, I'd say this guy is being a bit of a loser. He's being a real big nerd about it. Yeah, like why? Like what? Why is so like I'm not in that space?
[01:06:54] I guess I don't know how really cool it would have been to be accidentally given art that wasn't designed for me, you know, but like even if someone even if I was in a I guess like let's say we're in like a painting
[01:07:08] or you're really into paint collect, like Bob Ross kind of shit. OK. And you go up to a guy and he's like, like, sorry, I can't paint you a picture for two years. You're like, oh, damn.
[01:07:19] And then he sends you an email with with like a place to go pick up the art and you picked it up. And you're like, oh, this was a complete accident. That's pretty much stealing someone. But at the place you went to, there was two of the art.
[01:07:34] I'd say I like personally, I would probably delete it. But if he goes around and turns around and sells it again, can you do that? I mean, I assume, OK, this is almost what it feels like. Do you remember in the old Call of Duty's
[01:07:47] you can make your own like emblems and stuff on? Yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah. That almost what it sounds like is like somebody's like custom designing maybe on site with probably clunky control. So it is actually difficult or time consuming to make something really nice.
[01:08:03] And he's got a full on Naruto background that he made for a special someone. And, you know, it ended up getting duplicated. Is this guy instead of having his original valuable, you know, background for his MySpace page, this other guy who also has it. This is fucking stupid.
[01:08:20] This is like someone right clicked and saved the. Yeah, the banana NFT got fucking stolen. And now everyone has the banana picture profile picture. But like all you can I don't care. Yeah, he blocked and banned him like this. This don't fuck up on the artist part.
[01:08:37] It's the artists that fuck this up. Here's the thing. So the artists are so I'm going through like this happens to me. Right. First of all, I don't give a fuck about what my profile looks like. I don't care. But someone sent me an art.
[01:08:49] Whatever. I'll put it on my profile. That's cool. And the artist goes, hey, can you delete that? I go, fuck it. I don't care. And I delete it. Exactly. I don't I don't care either way. But it's also like the the the buyer might get mad
[01:09:03] that someone else is the same design as him. I can't even relate to that because if someone is like, oh, my God, he's got the same fucking disturbed guy background, my space page is mine. I don't fucking have like to have it.
[01:09:15] I don't care. It's like I don't I don't give a shit about any of this. Is he an asshole for keeping it, though? Like keeping it up and like pretty much being like whatever. Fuck you. I don't know. It makes good Navy.
[01:09:29] You make a good point with like the artist kind of ownership. Like if an artist, you know, gives you a picture, it's like here's my art and you display it publicly and they say, hey, please don't display my art publicly.
[01:09:40] Do you have a right to be like this was given to me? I'm going to display because it's mine now, even though you made it quickly like squatting rights, I guess it's his. No, I mean, this goes back to when this artist ownership
[01:09:54] and is this like Harry Potter goblin rules where it's like, you know, I can give you this, but when you die, I get it back. Type deal or what's the logic we're working with here?
[01:10:04] I think once you for it, though, did he know it got it for free? It was a mistake. Mistakenly said here's the thing. I literally just watched a OK. So I go into fucking YouTube rabbit holes where I fucking binge watch. I get hyper fixated on shit.
[01:10:18] And the current fixation right now is cops showing up to like crazy people screaming and shit and like stupidity and shit. So like I just recently I watched a video where somebody somebody's package of Victoria's Secret bras and panties and shit was delivered to their neighbor.
[01:10:35] And they, you know, they take a picture and they're like, deliver it on your porch. What was obviously the neighbor's porch? And so they go to get the package. They're like, no, I don't got it. And so they call the cops.
[01:10:44] This is similar because if there were it's not similar because it's a digital thing, but somebody else got the thing they weren't supposed to get, it was supposed to go to someone else. But you're still in trouble for accepting it because it's not yours like like ethically.
[01:11:03] As a community, we have established you should probably give that back. Correct. Especially if it's a mail mail. This is a package mail. I don't know. A fucking stupid, disturbed by space. I've got to keep hammering that home. Yeah, my disturbed ex Naruto artwork skin stolen.
[01:11:25] I've got a quick am I the asshole? Oh, a real one that kind of it's kind of similar to this. So a couple of months ago, I have two large trees in my front yard. I got a quote to cut them down from this company.
[01:11:38] OK, and he's like, OK, well, one tree cut it down is going to be 700 bucks to get rid of the two stumps like the one from the other tree and this tree to get rid of the two stumps, it's 250 each.
[01:11:51] OK, so he gave me an invoice with one tree cut down and two stumps. I was like, oh, that's a bit expensive. I'll just do the tree. I don't want you to take care of the of the stumps. Yeah. OK. He's like, OK.
[01:12:02] And he sends me an invoice with this, the tree removal. I was like, great. I pay the tree removal. OK, I'm on my vacation in Mexico and I get an email saying, here's the invoice for the stump removal. I'm like, what?
[01:12:15] He's like, yeah, we I was in the I was in the area and someone canceled the job, so I went and took care of your stumps. I was like, I didn't order that. Yeah, I didn't ask you to take care of the stumps. He's like, oh, sorry.
[01:12:26] You know, I take credit card or you transfer. I'm like, it's like the fucking homeless people to watch your windows. Yeah. I removed your stumps. So like, well, I'm not paying for it. I'm not paying for it. Put them back upside down. So I sent the email.
[01:12:51] I was like, I said it right here. I just want the tree removed, not the stumps. He's like, oh, OK, my bad. Like, yeah, you're bad. I'm not paying you the money to remove these stumps. So I hope you understand that and see you later.
[01:13:05] Like, am I the asshole for not paying for those? Hell no. Fuck yeah. My dad's like, you didn't give him any kind of money. He still spent the time to remove the stumps. Like, fuck no, I didn't.
[01:13:14] It'd be different if you were there, though, if you were there and you saw them removing the stumps and you said nothing, then it would have been you were an asshole. Oh, I had one. See, I had a house guest watching the dogs and she was watching it.
[01:13:28] So he may have thought that we were home and watching him remove the stumps. Oh, we were in the house. Guys, she's like, oh, that's probably normal. And then exactly. Yeah, exactly. They don't know. Hey, Nate, someone's stealing your stumps. It was fastened to the ground.
[01:13:45] I thought it was obviously yours. And he made a fucking mess of my front yard. Like, it's a complete mess now. No, he definitely. No, he definitely did donuts in your backyard. Yeah, it looks like it. It looks like, oh, God, I got one.
[01:14:01] Wait, wait, let me try. Oh, OK. I know I do that one. So I this was like maybe a year and a half ago. But so I bring people home. We play magic. We get drunk. Yada yada yada. Game store told a story a million times.
[01:14:14] So somebody somebody was here. I also I give shit away all the time. I let people drink my alcohol for free of charge. I fucking I give people cards. I don't care. And some of these cards are expensive. Some of them are like 20, 30 bucks.
[01:14:28] So well, I just don't buy cars anymore. I don't see I don't see value in the cars. It doesn't matter. So this person was over. We're drinking and stuff. It's like one in the morning. And this guy is like it's someone I've never really interacted with before.
[01:14:40] And he's like, dude, he's like, dude, I fucking love you, man. You're awesome. You're great. And then he gives me a card as a gift. I don't remember what the card was, but it was like an 80 dollar card. And I was like, oh, dude, thank you.
[01:14:52] And I'm also drunk, but I'm still like, there's no way he's going to there's no way he's doing this. Like, so I was like, OK, yeah, thank you. So I took the card and I just kind of set it aside.
[01:15:02] And then the next day he messaged me because I texted him. I was like, I was like, hey, do you still want to give me this card? And I sent him a picture. And then he texted me back.
[01:15:12] And he was like, is it possible that you could give me that card back? And because I was drunk and that's an expensive card. I was like, yeah, dude, next time I see you next next Saturday, I'm going to bring it back.
[01:15:23] And so I didn't give it back. Whenever I mean, so obviously, I just I gave it back. I gave it back. I don't know. I don't know what we're talking about anymore. I don't. This is a receiving unexpectedly situation.
[01:15:38] I don't personally think that this guy is an asshole, but he is an asshole. Yeah, I understand that. I have a personal disconnect with this whole situation. But I understand in their world, he likely is an asshole. Yeah, like it takes an asshole to do something like this.
[01:15:56] You know what I mean? Like he might not be an asshole to some people of what he just did here because it's like, oh, it's mine. But like, I bet you he's a huge asshole in like his everyday life. Yeah, they removed him from the group.
[01:16:06] He's burning massive bridges. You know what this reminds me of the fucking last. Am I the asshole with the person going, hey, why did you do that to that digital character? Are you starting interrogating? I'm going to unfriend you if you don't fuck it.
[01:16:20] You know, but this is the opposite. This is the bad ending where they did get unfriended. I can't believe you're using that profile picture. And that was meant for me. Yeah. Oh, my God. It's all digital. I don't give a fuck. It's like somebody is somebody trades me
[01:16:35] a rune skimitar runescape for too cheap. Fuck you. It's mine now. Shit. Go get another one. God. All right. And that's that's our asshole corner. Let's take a quick break and then we can hit the meat. Music plays. Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.
[01:17:00] A lot of laughter. My face is starting to hurt. I'm always smiling. Nate, you're a good time. You know that? Oh, thanks, guys. I love being here. I love it. All right. Lords of the Fallen. Sad times ahead. A vast world.
[01:17:17] This is version one point five, if that matters. It does matter because it's all in the picture. Yes, it does. They're making sure you know that. OK. They can see these redoubled our game. These are better now. I swear.
[01:17:33] A vast world awaits in all new medieval dark fantasy action RPG RPG Lords of the Fallen as one of the fabled dark crusaders embark on an epic quest to overthrow a deer, the demon god version one point five out now, adding significance, performance, improvements and custom difficulty modifiers.
[01:17:54] Recently, mostly positive, but overall mixed reviews released October 13th, 2023, developed by Hexwork and CI Games. Right up at the top, Naive, we were sent review copies for this game. We never played them. Yeah. Yeah. And I'm like, Naive, you want to go to get that?
[01:18:14] I asked for them and we never used them. I was like, sounds about right for me. Not replying to whatever is happening. And I'm like, Naive, let's see this. And you're like, I heard that game was bad. And I'm like, no, it's not even out.
[01:18:29] Like, we got a few copies of it. This was version one. Just one. Whenever we had it. And so we did not play it. But we played it when it came to game pass, you know, a year later. Here we are. Fast and late.
[01:18:44] Yep. The game is $60 steam store. I did not include all the prices, but of course, there are is like a premium edition, but specifically they are selling the if you already own the old version of it or whatever, the base version,
[01:18:58] they are selling like all the premium content that you would get in the elite version as like a standalone DLC pack. So in case you've already previously bought it or got gifted it. So it's not exclusive to the the big money edition
[01:19:13] or can play it on game pass. Or if you're yeah, perfectly. If you're playing on game, you can still get the premium drops or whatever. I don't even know what's in the premium. I think it's a whole new character and like an armor set for that character,
[01:19:26] like the dark, dark crusader guy. You can play through the game, do a certain quest and unlock him for your next playthrough. Oh, or you can or you can buy this fucking thing and you start. You can just start as him on your first playthrough.
[01:19:40] Now, for I guess history preconceptions of this game, mine is once again, I know there was an older one in like 20. I don't know when the old one came out a while back. Not not so long ago that it makes sense that this got rebooted.
[01:19:54] That's the weirdest three years maybe or something like that. I think I own the old one on like Xbox or something. I always for gold. I own both of them. I don't want to see it. I played maybe a total of five minutes of one of them.
[01:20:09] Yeah, I haven't played the first one, but I think I own it. So whenever Nave said like, Oh, it's coming to game pass and it's better now or good now. I'm like, we never played it in the first hand, but OK, I'm I'm hyped to play this.
[01:20:21] We haven't done a souls like in a while and I'm always ready to get back into it right before. Right in time for Elden Ring. So we're going to get another one done. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And our name history preconceptions. I own the other ones.
[01:20:37] I played a little bit of one. I didn't. So I saw this. I was like, I this sounds familiar, but I don't know why. It is because I owe the other game. I didn't realize it was a fucking like reboot or whatever. But it's like not though.
[01:20:52] It's so weird. It's like a different whole different game, like no characters or anything like that. I don't think it's not what it is. I mean, you know, that's face one. No, that's not a reboot, though. That's a remake. You're right. Oh, well, reboot.
[01:21:08] I mean, look at that. You know, the X-Men reboot, the X-Men movies. Well, I don't know about that. I was thinking like the Laura Croft games that get rebooted a bunch. You know what I mean? Like the characters or even better yet, Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat.
[01:21:23] The characters are like the same characters, but they're different people. Like they're different with different personalities. Like literally the most recent Mortal Kombat, the character that's playing Sub-Zero or the character that's playing Scorpion is literally the second Sub-Zero. And so it's weird.
[01:21:38] Like it's explained with Tymey, Wymey bullshit. Liu Kang killed a god and then he remade the universe in his image. But this image is all fucked up because he's a fucking bad person. It's you know, it's yeah. And then they gave they gave Nautilus's backstory to Pike.
[01:21:52] And I don't even know why they had to rewrite Nautilus's backstory. He just doesn't always always comes back to Pike. Oh, Pike, you ruin the meta. There is instant kills. Speaking of who is the person that you do a move
[01:22:05] straight from League of Legends in this? Who is that? Which one? You fucking do. Lantern. Hey, yeah. Like you got a lantern like dress. But then you go, yeah. It's a laoi. That's it. Yeah. Yeah. Rip out their souls. More lost souls.
[01:22:20] All right. That's for our two League of Legends listeners. Yeah. All right, Nate. History preconceptions of Lords of the Fallen. I never have fallen. I never played the first one or even looked at it. But when I saw the trailer for this one, I was like, oh, yeah.
[01:22:34] It's hitting all those notes. And it was Unreal Engine five and I'm a big like tech guy. And I couldn't wait for the first Unreal Engine five game. And this, I believe, was the first full release Unreal Engine five game on Steam, I think.
[01:22:52] If I can tell from the frame drops on Xbox. Check that. But I'm pretty sure if not one of them, like within the first one or two, maybe three. Right behind Banana. Pretty close. But yeah, and I was I paid full price for this baby.
[01:23:08] I was in on it and yeah, I just jumped right in. All right. So ours played. You said you logged 18. I think I probably have like eight maybe if that makes sense. Nate, how many hours you sunk in this in this chili dog? Seventy three. Oh, my God.
[01:23:25] It's a lot of time over here. Yeah. And I've completed one playthrough. Oh, man. Yeah. One and a one and a half. And then I played with Nate for what was it like six hours or so? Yep. So spoiler alert, me and Philip did not be.
[01:23:41] We did not finish. We made it like a fourth into it. We did not make it very far at all. I made it like halfway. Yeah. But I had to go. So me and Philip, we played twice, right? Yeah.
[01:23:51] So I was go. I played a bunch by myself. Then the first time me and Philip played, I went back and helped him get to where I am from solo. And then I played with Nate, who we fucking slammed through like five or six bosses.
[01:24:08] And then the second time I played with Nate, we didn't get through nearly as many bosses. And then I went back with Philip again and helped him get to like where I was when Nate saw my God.
[01:24:16] And then I was so we were like fucking doing the army of two, lift each other up off the wall and grab each other and pull us. You know what I mean? That's what we were doing. Yeah. All right. Not very good for the speed run.
[01:24:31] That's fine. Not very efficient. Oh, man. Speedrun so stupid. I was thinking about it earlier, whenever I was doing the stupid Rubik's Cube like, oh, man, it's really going to hurt my spread. The white cross.
[01:24:43] You have this spread guy like, all right, he's got the blue side now. Yeah. I only know the the beginners was like the daisy finish or whatever. I don't know any advanced algorithms. I'm not competitive. Said, oh, he's going for it.
[01:24:57] He's going for the corner red corner blue trick. All right. That's pretty. That's pretty. My build order is not efficient right now. But anyways, now if I see you got some some little sample reviews from steam. You read the first one.
[01:25:12] Oh, God, it's the Dark Souls one speech. God damn it. I was hoping you wouldn't know what it was until halfway through. Yeah, but it's from Tally Whacker with point four hours. Good. With the record. He says, well, what do we have here?
[01:25:26] You must be a new arrival. Let me guess. Fate of the Christmas sale, right? Well, you're not the first, but there's no salvation here. You've done better to rot in the epic games asylum. But but too late now. Well, since you're here, let me help you out.
[01:25:41] There are actually two souls like purchasing ones up above in Japano's workshop. Yeah, there is far, far below in the fallen ruins of the base of trash mob town. Play them both and something happens. Brilliant, right?
[01:25:56] Not much to go on, but I have a feeling that won't stop you. So off you go. It's why you came, isn't it? Do this a curse download manager of the undead? Ha ha ha. Just do Dark Souls in B.C.
[01:26:07] Yes, that is from the crest fallen warrior in the undead asylum. Yeah. No, is that undead? I thought this was a wasn't like Oscar or whatever the dude that you bump into? No, no, that is crest fallen. He's not in the end of the summer.
[01:26:24] Yeah, he's he's at a he's in sunlight meadow or whatever it's called. What? Yeah, I literally is the guy. I was on right. I was literally on IMDB. I was like, what Dark Souls character is that? That's the first guy. He says first guy's Oscar, right?
[01:26:42] No. All the first guy dies, right? Yes. And he gives you the Estes. I don't know. Time, time, time, time, time, time. Oscar of Scoria gives you your Estes. Yeah. I'm looking at a C crest fallen warrior.
[01:26:58] It is not this is this is attributed to the wrong guy. Oh no, IMDB messed up. Unbelievable. I can't trust anything anymore. I read on the Internet. No, but like your Oscar for real. Oscar is the name of the crusader that gives you the flask
[01:27:13] in the beginning of the game. Oh my God, it is Oscar. That's fucking what a dumb name. It's good that he died. Well, he didn't die. He went hollow. He faded away because he was undead as well. Even worse. All right, I'm done.
[01:27:31] I'm done with Dark Souls lore. Well, speaking of Dark Souls lore, you want to read the next one? The Good Baller with 40, 43 hours on record at time of review says, go do yourself a favor and play Lords of the Fallen, bro.
[01:27:48] He's referring to the original game of the same name that came out a few years ago. Yeah, OK, OK. All right. Maybe one's last one. Sure. Game is low. No, first we got to call it now. Colonel, are you Canadian? Call it now. It's literally French, right?
[01:28:12] I think it is. That's why it's not purposely. I purposely put it wrong. Yeah, but 15 reviews, 37.4 hours at review time. Game is low key, unsufferable, insufferable for the first 37 or so hours. But when you finally understand, it's actually pretty good. That's 39 hours. 37 hours review.
[01:28:39] Yeah, he did it at 37 hours. He's like, and he played for two more hours. He finally got it. He was like, I got to make a review. I finally am having fun. It gets good. OK, so this is a soul's life.
[01:28:54] I had to dig for those, by the way. There's a lot of bad or what? Yeah, they were all complaining about bad. Every single one was from October 20, 23, bitching about the poor performance. And I'm like, these aren't funny. Everyone's just mad.
[01:29:11] All right. So I wanted to go in about what makes this different than Dark Souls. What makes it special? Like with Pinocchio Souls, what made it special was like the different attachments with your arms and that type of stuff. Meanwhile, it's like Elden Ring is just Dark Souls
[01:29:24] with a horse in an open world. You know, it's just instead of the world being consumed by fire, it's being consumed by whatever happened in Elden Ring. I don't know. Asher something brought. It was also fire. It was also fire again. Come on, guys. And rot.
[01:29:39] Anyways, this one big two worlds situation where you have not the game world, not related to two worlds, which also had two worlds in two worlds too. Or was it just two worlds again? Oh, I'm having an aneurysm. Get me out of here.
[01:29:56] Anyways, there's two worlds layered on top of each other. This can only be done with modern tech, the real ratcheting clank scenario, you know, with rifts apart. It's not possible on PlayStation four. So you have a lantern that lets you travel between these worlds.
[01:30:11] And the lantern is like your your Batman utility belt gadget that you use interact with the world. And that's what makes it. That's the biggest difference from any of the souls is that this is your interactable for I don't know, like revealing extra doors, secret hallways,
[01:30:32] yeah, secrets, certain enemies unlocking other doors like the lantern does it all. It's like you so and you go from you go from a desolate, medieval fantasy setting to desolate medieval fantasy setting, but slightly poopier. No, it's not slightly poopier. It's full on Cthulhu and weird.
[01:30:51] It was like, hell, you go into the other side, man. I thought this was fucking sick. I love it. The whole I thought the whole lantern thing was really cool, like just peering into the other the other realm and just seeing like you could just see
[01:31:07] an entire piece of the map if you're higher up and just, holy shit. What if I go explore down there in the other realm? Right. And then you can press and hold your button to transfer realms with using the lantern and then go and explore.
[01:31:24] But should we touch base on that's like your second life? Yeah. We can talk about the shadows die twice mechanic, which is what we call it every time, because I guess we're an original and we can't think of anything else.
[01:31:35] But unless you were in the shadow world and you died and you would say shadows die once, Nathanael. Yeah. But so it's like when you're in a regular world, they make it easier than like in Dark Souls,
[01:31:45] you die in the real world, you die in real life or whatever, you know, like you're dead, dead. You died across the screen in this one. If you die in the regular world, you get a shadows die twice of you
[01:31:55] die, go to the shadow land, and then you shoot out a shockwave and stand back up. You're like, oh, live the. Oh, and you go back into it. But with like reduced health regeneration and you have a chance of getting the real world back.
[01:32:12] If you can find the little voodoo monkeys with long hair. Yeah. Yeah. So everything in the shadow world is harder. There's more enemies. Enemies are constantly spawning. They're bad enemies. But the longer you're in there, the harder it gets.
[01:32:24] And also every time you heal with your estus, you don't. 50% of the heel is in gray health, which if you take damage will instantly go away, which is extremely annoying when you are flustered. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
[01:32:39] Yeah. Whenever you get whenever you get frustrated and it'll just compound and then enemies just keep spawning on you and you're like, oh, and you're just then start swinging your sword and you're just hoping then you fall off the fucking cliff.
[01:32:51] You roll off the edge, which I love that because it's like Dark Souls. It's like once again, like even throughout the game, like death can be around any corner and get fucked up in this one.
[01:33:00] It's like with this safety belt of the shadow lands, it's like you're on a romp and Dungeons and Dragons adventure for most of it. And then you go to the shadow world and then you're like, oh, man, I am not safe anymore. Like it's no longer fun.
[01:33:13] Meanwhile, it's like the same amount of danger. But now they add a whole level with the nightmare creatures, the monster's, which also whenever you're playing in co-op, do this game is just infinitely better in co-op. Like, I don't know how much like you played single player, Philip,
[01:33:30] but I played a lot of single player and every time I was having a frustrating I was sad, I was upset. I was getting annoyed. I was running past mobs. But then as soon as one of you two were joining my games or I was
[01:33:43] joining your games, it was a rootin tune. I'm running around, roll one, do it, jump attacks. I've been crazy. I don't care if I die. It doesn't matter. It's just fun. I don't have any negatives if you actually die,
[01:33:55] like in the souls, they're famous for like, oh, in Bloodborne, you're losing blood vials or something like that because you need them to stay sane. I don't even know. I haven't played Bloodborne or in like the souls. Your weapons degrade along with what's it called?
[01:34:10] You lose your humanities. My humanity is also getting lost. Or Dark Souls 2, you permanently lose health until you use another humanity. So you're starting the game with like half your health bar, which sucks. Yeah, it feels bad to die.
[01:34:26] Yes. But for this game in particular, because I like I only played a handful before, so I played Elden Ring, Pinocchio, Dark Souls 3 a little bit. I couldn't get through that one and another one like this one. What what I really liked was it was it wasn't hard
[01:34:51] to the point where I was smashing my head against bosses for hours. It was hard because of some of the level design choices. And that's what got me frustrated. And that's what made me really like want to fucking throw my controller against the wall.
[01:35:06] It wasn't the enemies. It wasn't the difficulty level. It was just like some of the verticality in the platforming was how platforming of the list of bad things. Yeah, anytime we had a platform, it was oh, my God. I most of my debts were from falling. Yeah, exactly.
[01:35:21] Yeah, that's what I mean. But like everything like the weapon, like the looks of the weapons, the looks of the world, the armor. I thought it was really fucking cool. Oh, yeah. Really, really, really, really cool.
[01:35:34] Yeah. So we were walking through that one map and we found like this. I don't know whether it was a weird death shrine church thing inside of a side of a mountain. Oh, right. Yeah. And the secret path.
[01:35:45] Yeah. Yeah. And we found that was like, fuck man, this is fucking sick. Just blood everywhere with it. It is so metal. Yeah, it was so metal. It's so sick. Like some of that stuff. Awesome. This game has a in this game as a photo mode,
[01:35:58] as long as you're on co-op annoying. But I understand. Yeah. And it's like, you know, like, Nave, what happened? Hold on, I got to take a picture. Yeah. So there were multiple times that I was running with they and I was like, look at this wall.
[01:36:13] It's like got a bunch of hands nailed to it. Like a bunch of fucking symbols and shit. It's like all arcane. I'm like, dude, I want to take a picture so bad. I'm thinking I'm hovering over your name. I'm going to play.
[01:36:24] I just want to take a picture of this without all the hood and shit on my screen. I use for my album artwork. Yeah. But the there is a photo mode and it's OK. It's fine. But I got a lot of good pictures.
[01:36:37] So people who are virtual tourists, this game is great for that. Yeah, it looks great. It looks fantastic. Like I don't know what it looks like on console. I'm assuming it's pretty friggin good. But on PC, I've just jacked up all the graphics and everything.
[01:36:52] And it looks wonderful, but disgustingly wonderful. You know, did I post? Did I do a screenshot screenshot dump on our Twitter yet of this game? I don't think so. I took quite a few during my my first playthrough. No, I got one screenshot.
[01:37:11] And but it was in a compilation of fucking screenshots here. I'll share with you guys. Oh, I share just the fucking just a link. Yeah, copy link. OK, boom. It's the second picture. It'll probably look good on the computer. Yeah. The second picture.
[01:37:30] Yeah, the second picture of those bunches. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's right before the vagina monster. The big like body eater there under. Yeah. Yeah. Gabe Dragon. Yeah. KB, which me and Phil killed on the first try. I'm pretty sure like what I mean, like I was
[01:37:46] very, very strong whenever I went back to Phillips game. Like at all points of time, I was like three times this level. Like at any point. So it did scale you down because you're like, why am I not doing more damage? Because I'm like nine.
[01:38:00] Yeah. In your level, 43 or whatever. Yeah, that's what happened when I went back to help navel my main character. I was like, I remember doing a lot more damage than this. And then he's got this new sword. I was like, I want that sword. Yeah.
[01:38:14] Like half shoddy people like, holy shit. He's having a lot of fun over there. Speaking of fun little quirky things. Nate, you were complaining about like some of the level design. Some level design is really good, though, because I remember, Nate, when I was playing on my own,
[01:38:31] like you suggested, like I was doing the Dark Souls run because that's just what you do in souls like. So at least that's what I did. This game does a little bit of things to try to stop you from doing that.
[01:38:41] Like it has the sections where it requires you to go into the shadow realm and out of the shadow realm, the pull things. So you have to wait for things to move or it's like a giant eyeball wall where you have to go pop
[01:38:52] the different pregnant people hanging from the walls to open the eyeball door. Those things stop you from just sprinting to the end of the level. Whereas like when we were playing Dark Souls in the catacombs, I'm like,
[01:39:03] look, you do not want to fight your way through the catacombs. I'm going to Dark Souls around it. I just have to make this one jump, which is the hardest jump to make. And then run past all the bone wheel skeletons.
[01:39:13] So it's like, it's going to take me 15 minutes and get this jump or this run perfect, but it will save us, you know, two and a half hours of traversing this cave. Yeah. And this there's like one part where I'm like, oh, man,
[01:39:24] I need to run up this hill. But there's an archer at the top of the hill and like an archer snake. And then to the right side, there's a dog that breathes fire. And it's like if you run there, you're like, oh, there's an archer.
[01:39:34] And then you dodge to the side. You go straight into the dog. And it's like, but then if you dodge again, there's an iron gate. Yeah, you're getting barbecued. But there's an iron gate that you can lantern
[01:39:43] and then you can go through that gate and then you pop up next to the archer. So it's like you can run straight at the archer, which I ended up doing most of the time because the arrows are ridiculously slow when they shoot them.
[01:39:54] So you just dodge roll them. So I end up doing that. But before, when I was exploring, I'm like, oh, they gave you like a little walkway so you have cover so the archer can shoot at you.
[01:40:03] So I think the level design is actually really well done in this as far as like some parts. OK, maybe some parts is the. The platforming still sucks. And it does this. They do the same thing in
[01:40:15] how it's called Dark Souls three, where you have to be sprinting to be able to jump. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah. There's no jumping. It's not even like Ocarina of Time jumps where you automatically jump when you get to the ledge. I would almost prefer that.
[01:40:30] Yeah, that drove me nuts in this game. Like insane. Like I'd be fighting something and I'm like locked onto them. But I find a lot what happens in this game a lot is they get you into narrow corridors a lot or on the edge of something
[01:40:44] where it's very narrow, very narrow. And like if you're a big sword swinging guy and you're just going for the big swings and you lock on, the animation will literally be so large that it puts you off the edge and you slide right off.
[01:40:57] You just slide right off. Right. That has happened to me a couple of times. Fucking crazy when I was playing this first night. I was like, I can't finish this game because every time I get to a spot where I'm fighting like three guys on like
[01:41:10] like a ramp and on each end of the ramp, there's nothing. And if I move just a little bit or let the animation go full, I'll just fly off the edge. And they didn't I don't know, didn't think about maybe people
[01:41:21] like to swing large swords and roll around a lot. The large swords are good, though. There is a good positive to them. And it's almost something that made me stop playing the game when I was using small swords and a shield, which is when you are
[01:41:35] one handing a weapon. I don't know if this is for all weapons, but for sword users and axes, I imagine to when you're one handing it, your weapon will bounce off of walls and it cancels your whole it cancels the whole damage box.
[01:41:48] So it feels like if you swing all the way, even if your sword goes through them and it hits a wall on one side, the game already calculated that you hit that wall, even though your weapon went through them. It feels like that might be wrong.
[01:41:59] Maybe it was lag or something. But whenever you two hand weapons, your weapon will always go through all terrain. And I don't know if that's a bug, like they just don't know how to program that balance. I think it's intentional.
[01:42:12] I don't that's not balanced because no, because the sword is the opposite balance because those are strong weapons. Oh, my God. No, the thing is, is like I use one hand a sword like dexterity build like I'm over there with my like one handed katana
[01:42:25] type deal or whatever. But it's like in tight quarters. I switched to the double fisty grip because, you know, I'm going to hit walls and stuff. But with the katana, the like base attack or whatever, with one hand is way faster, applies the bleed faster than two handed.
[01:42:41] Two hands does more damage, but it's slower and it can pierce walls. But in most situations where I'm trying to max my DPS, one handed is fat, like doesn't weigh more damage for me. But what's strange is like the it's actually like your sword
[01:42:55] actually just goes through the wall. It's not like it's part of the game where it's like destroys a piece of the wall. You know what I mean? Yeah. The sword model goes into the wall. Yeah, just like all the enemy attacks do. Fuck this game.
[01:43:07] And I will abuse anything when shit like that happens. I don't think it's abuse. I think it's intended. I don't know. And I don't know. So like you are like this applies the bleed. I don't know if bleed is different from burn.
[01:43:20] But like when like my burn, I'm pretty sure is like dependent on my damage because I will hit enemies and they will just catch on fire in one hit. And then for bigger enemies, like it will they'll catch on fire into it.
[01:43:34] So it's like I don't know if like the amount of hits is always how much like effect you're putting on the enemy. I think it's a percentage of the health that you're doing to them. That affects it or like one time.
[01:43:47] So like the crit will help as well, I think. So if like if you create for, let's say your base damage like two hundred and fifty hit and you create them for 250, I think it'll it'll bring that like that burn level
[01:43:59] to a point where it's supposed to get to before it applies the burn. So like amount of damage done. I guess you were saying, yeah. And then it'll then it'll apply the whatever status effect. Burn, bleed, poison, whatever.
[01:44:14] But one thing that I do want to complain about is I feel like the dodging is inconsistent. Yes. Because I get caught on fucking geometry, just random rocks on the go. Yeah. Yeah. A lot of getting stuck on enemies and geometry. I kept fucking complaining about this.
[01:44:28] I kept saying that the walls have hands and they're literally grabbing me. Yeah, the walls do have hands on them. Like, I will do. Yes, I will do a whirl and it'll catch my fucking ankle. I go, no, you're staying here and you're fighting.
[01:44:40] OK, I guess I die. Yeah, because I remember there was a specific part later on in the game where you're climbing a fucking spiral staircase and you get out to like a patio or like a weird. Oh, yes, the castle patio. Yeah, the castle patio.
[01:44:55] And there's like tree trunks, like there's vines and tree trunk vines like going across the rocks. And like in any other game, those wouldn't be collisioned. Like you would just walk through those. It's just for aesthetic.
[01:45:08] This you can actually like hit them with your feet and you'd stop. That's weird. And I and I go to like dodge and I hit these little tree trunks. I'm like, what the fuck? There's nothing there.
[01:45:17] And I look down on my feet and there's like a like a trunk. There's a stick on the ground. Yeah, like I got to go around. You guys don't need to put that in the game. Oh, my God.
[01:45:27] Don't fucking get me started on the gates that they have dark souls doors where there'll be shortcuts and you go around and it's like a gated wall, like a gated door. Right. Yeah. But the holes are huge.
[01:45:37] You could just stick your arm through the hole and pull the lock out. There's nothing else stopping the door from opening. It's just a latch on the other side. You just flip it like you fucking idiot. But like the.
[01:45:51] The sound, did you guys really like listen to the sound of it? Oh, yeah, like I had my new phones on, so I was doing double cups and I was doing double when I was playing it. And I got jump scared a lot.
[01:46:02] We can talk about the lantern jump scares. So when you look into the abyss, the monsters can look back and see you and the monsters are always there. And if you pull the lantern to take a little peekaboo
[01:46:12] and they happen to be right near you, like they will hit you. And if they hit you, they bring you into the shadow realm. And the amount of times where I'm like, I'll go to check and make sure there's not a mimic over here.
[01:46:24] And then like there's like a repriser, just like, just like grabs me instantly. Like, oh, you just. That happened with me and Nate, where I was walking up a tower and he was right behind me and I pull my lantern out and shine it in out a doorway.
[01:46:38] And there's a fucking reaper right there. And it just turns around and looks at me. And I'm like, oh, don't look at me. Don't look. Don't look. Turn the light off. Nate, do not look. And then we just left. We didn't.
[01:46:50] Oh, it's just I love that stuff so much like, you know, even the inspiration for this podcast, the H.P. Lovecraft Literary Podcast. Great title. Just like ours. Gaming together. Cooperative podcast. Yeah. I wonder where I got it from. But I love that podcast.
[01:47:07] They go super into like talking about Lovecraft stuff. And like every year, I usually go back and listen through like an audiobook of all of Lovecraft's works. I love that spooky type of shit. The thing about mysterious worlds underneath our own or
[01:47:19] not so far away from our own. They're right there. Yeah. Another world. And so I love the aesthetic of this game. Yeah, yeah. It's so I like it. I kept I said this to Nate a couple of times, but I like this.
[01:47:33] I like OK, well, this will be a final words thing. But as far as aesthetics go, I like this a lot more than Liza P, which is a game that was they are compared to a lot. So it's more like if you like the bloodborne is like
[01:47:45] Lovecraftian aesthetic, then you'll like Liza P more. But if you like the like dark souls with a Lovecraftian aesthetic, you're going to like this game a lot more. So yeah, definitely. All right. But by the way, so I side note,
[01:48:01] I changed our banner on Twitter for the first time since the inception of our banner. Oh, yeah. How's it look? You see it? Go look. It's so clear. I don't look at Twitter. Gaming together is my love language. That's very nice. Is that a quote?
[01:48:16] That's just a post I saw on Facebook randomly. And I went, oh, wow. That's for us. We're famous. I'll take this time to plug my podcast. So stupid. All right. Going back into this, when I was doing my Dark Souls run at the time or at the end
[01:48:36] because Nate was too busy playing inscription to play with me, I was always playing alone. I made it to a boss. I didn't finish him right after the fire lady boss, the mysterious fire lady of the town.
[01:48:51] After you defeat her, you get to run through the fiery town and you meet this big goon who's in there making like dead bodies kiss. And then he like pulls another arm. The lava guy. Yeah. Yeah. I love that boss so much. Like I never beat him.
[01:49:05] I fought him like five times and I'm like, oh yeah, that's good enough for the review. Oh, I don't need to know like this. And we're done. We're done here. I love these little. Are really, really good.
[01:49:18] I love the boss fights and the boss designs like even the battle angel, like the very first boss fight was like so such a great intro because it's like a lot of the intro boss fights aren't like super great in the other souls games.
[01:49:32] But like the battle angel, I have like spectacle. You already had summons. You already felt like you were already in the game without going through, like I don't know, like the boring part. And it wasn't like terribly hard. There was two phases.
[01:49:45] There's a lot of shit going on. Like it introduces a thing that happens to different bosses where they'll have like fucking shadows attacking you twice. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. But that was good. I think the lava guy was so he's so large, right?
[01:50:02] And I we did the fight together, me and Dave and like, he's like, I can't hit this fucking guy. He's not coming close enough. And I'm just. Pinging out of with arrows, because I like think think think go behind the wall.
[01:50:13] And then he fills the arena with lava. Yeah, that's so cool. Yeah, it was really cool. I really like that one. It now like that. As far as the arrows are a big deal, because like much like other souls games, usually it's like the
[01:50:30] you have like secondary weapons or arranged weapons or like their own category. And this is seems like everyone gets a ranged weapon. You like a throwing axe, a bow crossbow throwing knives. Like there's like every day there's grenades. Yeah, like holy grenades and fire grenades.
[01:50:45] Yeah, I never used them because everything scales. So I was using the throwing axes, they scaled directly with strength and I was a strength build. So obviously I wanted that. But they were really good, actually, to on enemies with like low defense.
[01:50:57] I would kill them like there are a couple of bosses that I literally like finished like just throwing axes at. Yeah, just a chug, a chug, a chug. And it's like different types of weapons use different amounts of your ammo gauge.
[01:51:09] So it's like I had I was using the like the bow. And so I had base arrows, which is one default and did good damage. And then I have like poison arrows that did even better damage and applied the poison buff or whatever. But they use to ammo.
[01:51:22] So it's like you had to like make a choice on what type of, you know, projectiles you're going to use. I really thought this was like, yeah, this is souls like. But they really brought enough to the table to make it different.
[01:51:34] But it's interesting because when you play a souls like because I remember I cheated the wolf boss with the sword in Dark Souls, I don't remember which one. And because you can get on a rock and shoot arrows into the fucking arena.
[01:51:48] And so if you have like 200 arrows, you can shoot. You can't do that in this game because you can't just max out your fucking arrows. You always have like a limited amount. But the ammo gets more and more because I think it's you.
[01:52:00] I think you collect ammo pouches as item drops, like not drops, but like in random areas while you're exploring. And that expands how much ammo you have. So I went through the whole game, the very beginning. I was like, oh, I can throw three axes and I'm done.
[01:52:16] I didn't know what the ammo gauge was. I just didn't pay attention to it. I thought it was man. I'm not doing that. Fuck that. That's dumb. And so I would throw I would literally throw three axes and go undone. And they just start playing some more.
[01:52:28] I think Nate, 15 hours in just told me that I have more than three, probably. And I was like, oh, my God, a bunch of ammo pouches in your pocket so you can fill up. I literally had like 15 axes.
[01:52:39] I was like, I can do like a thousand damage now. Yeah. And it was during that that fight, that fire boss fight when we when we needed it. Yeah, I've got 80 percent of the fight. I'm standing there doing nothing.
[01:52:56] What was another cool thing was the like there was one way to get rid of a lot of bosses was the poison bombs because they leave a cloud of poison dust. So you could just toss the poison bomb
[01:53:08] and then just kite the boss in and out of the poison powder or the poison smoke. And he would just eventually die from the fart cloud stacking fart cloud. Yeah. And it was just like, you die. That's how my last dog died. So stupid.
[01:53:25] Well, yeah, that was pretty sweet. I like all the I like the weapons and all that stuff. Oh, yeah. Stuff I do like. We we talked about the lantern. You can. So we do the allow you pull. So basically you you hit someone with your lantern
[01:53:38] and pull their soul out for like two or three seconds and then you can hit them over and over again. And that will give the boss great health. And then if you hit the boss once, it'll do a bunch of damage
[01:53:49] because whenever you do that, the boss is also slowed down like really hard. So it also just lets you get a couple hits in normally too, if you want. But it's always better to hit the soul. You can get you can upgrade your soul,
[01:54:00] your little lantern to get more charges. No, we're like you can do more damage pass. There's a bunch of like random things you can upgrade. There are runes for your weapons and your shields. There are that's it just those things. But like that's cool.
[01:54:13] You can do like a whole bunch of different random. You get the eyeballs for the lanterns that give it certain stats as well. Yeah. So like when I had one in there in my secondary slot
[01:54:22] that reduced the amount of damage I took whenever I first go to the dark world. So instead of taking half my health and damage out or in great into great health, I'll get like 30 percent then. And so and that's because I hate it.
[01:54:35] Go again to the underworld and getting one hit immediately by a oil or something. Dude, the bats would instantly swoop down the second I go to Shadowland and take half my health with one little hit. You're like, oh, I've got to cross this chasm.
[01:54:49] You pull out your lantern, you're halfway across the invisible bridge and then a fucking gargoyle will just dive bomb you and kill you off the. Yeah, hit you and then you flinch and then you fall straight down.
[01:55:00] Oh, yeah. OK, so we can talk about this using the lantern for traversal sucks like walking across the invisible bridges. Yeah, it's cool. It sucks just going to Shadowland, just go in the shadow. Or which I don't know what they actually call it.
[01:55:14] Is it the umbral or something? Yeah. OK, the umbral. Yeah, we call it the shadow and we're like Shadowland shadows die twice. I'm going to the dark world. You know, legends all the dark world types.
[01:55:24] I think that's what the gargoyles were trying to tell us to do right. The dive bombing gargoyles were trying to tell us to stop using the lantern for like traversing long bridges, like just go into the shadow world
[01:55:36] and you're going to have that one life until you can bring yourself back. I think that's what they were trying to tell you. But I never really wanted to go in there because I knew once I go in there, I start stressing my palms get sweaty.
[01:55:46] Yeah, that's when the game starts. Yeah, the game starts. Yeah. Yeah. So another thing was this game does not let you independently set your language options. So since my Xbox was set on Japanese, I was also playing this game in Japanese.
[01:56:01] No Japanese voice actors, still English voice actors. Oh, yeah. Yeah. But everything else is in Japanese. And so me and they've had this fun little minigame where every time a boss would pop up, I would be like, oh, no, look out.
[01:56:12] It's the mysterious burning lady of the town. And you're like, I don't know what you say. You'd say the actual name. It's like, oh, no, it's the lady of the dog. And I'm like, that is the hound watcher or whatever. Oh, the mistress or something like that.
[01:56:28] So we would do that every time we go to a boss fight. And I pulled out an English at one point, too, whenever, like the first time we killed a lamp bear or whatever, where I'm like, oh, no, if it popped up on the screen is big.
[01:56:39] And I'm like, oh, ramp defeated or something like that. And you're like lamp bear defeated and like. Said ramp. Yeah. There is no L sound. Yeah. Japanese. You just got to be as onesie twosie. I mean, they do the sound is just you got to know the words.
[01:56:59] I wonder who was on the who is on the committee that was like, all right. We what letter are we going to make this weird foreign sound? Oh, what are we going to turn this into? It's like Hesburgh or something like the has burn.
[01:57:14] There's the guy that actually developed like a this way back and he developed like the syllabary translation for like, hey, this is Lou and Rue or whatever, like for Ellen are that's going to be the symbols because there is actually
[01:57:30] we're not going to like a story behind this. Not like we're going to ask numbers again like we did last time. But there is some history behind that stories die twice. Yeah. So that was fun. But it did make it harder to use some of the menus,
[01:57:46] but not actually that hard. I did enjoy talking to Sparky. He was one of my favorite NPC, the the slave. Yes, slave in the blacksmith. Yeah. He's saying I've seen universes, you know, burn and fade. I am a more than.
[01:58:02] Yeah. And then the blacksmith is like, shut up. You're mine. Shut up. Get back to work and fan the flames, right? The wounds. And then he'll be like, oh, but in my day, they did this thing. He just keeps talking.
[01:58:16] And I'm like, now I want you to shut up. I'm trying to upgrade my sword. She won't let me upgrade my sword until you shut up. Stop talking. Yeah. Many of the NPCs have a bunch of dialogue to say that you have to go
[01:58:28] through before they will give you a chance to buy from them or to use their systems. And I didn't I did not care about the lore of this world. Or unlock quests. You want to hear the lore of the land? No, it's ace.
[01:58:40] There are side quests to get armor armor sets and weapons and stuff like that. Yeah, sometimes they'll be like, hey, go like I want this book. Wish I had it, man. And then like nudge nudge.
[01:58:53] But the cool thing is, is that when you return, if you go around and talk to people, if someone has something they need to say to you, they when you open their text dialogue up, there'll be a little icon there,
[01:59:02] including when you have like the quintessences to upgrade your estus flask or the fuck it's called, your crucifix that heals you. If you have enough to upgrade, it'll there'll be a symbol there. But it's like, hey, click this. You have enough.
[01:59:15] So you don't have to like click it and now have enough. Oh, I feel bad. Oh, OK. Yeah, I see what you mean. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Also, this game has multiple endings, which we will instantly locked out the first one when we cleanse the first beacon.
[01:59:29] I didn't really look about what the other endings actually are. But we were set on like the default ending me and me when we were playing, which I assume is what most people's first playthrough is like, where you go and you seek the flame like usual.
[01:59:43] I saw a video where like, so there is this guy that, you know, the guy in Dark Souls two that fucks you up the first time and then because you're not prepared for it. And then like, he's I'll see you later.
[01:59:53] And then he leaves and never comes back. The pursuer. Yeah. So they have that in this game. This guy just shows up, fucks you up once and then leaves and he just keeps popping up. Dragon. Yeah. So if you kill him, he's just dead.
[02:00:07] And so like if you kill him in that first zone, when you are the weakest, there is like an extra like there are these memories that you can fucking threshold or whatever and get a little item for it. There is a thing there for you.
[02:00:22] And it plays a cut scene and everything where the guy will show up and be like, oh shit, you fucking killed this guy. It's crazy. And then it'll it's great. I didn't know that. They try to beat that guy on your first playthrough. It took like 20 or 30 minutes.
[02:00:36] It took forever because you just don't do enough damage. So that guy was just a fucking king. Yeah. Wow. That's crazy. Which do want to talk about the intro scene because interesting real strong. Oh, yeah. It's pure. It's pure Elden Ring, though, because the same thing happens
[02:00:50] in Elden Ring with like the grace falling from the gods and lands on just a random undead and brings them back to life. Only this one is the lantern is like the lantern literally falls into like a pile of bodies.
[02:01:02] And it just so happens like getting your character. The cool thing is, yes, so the scene I remember now. So there is a guy running around like fighting and doing shit. And he's like, fuck this. I would. I'd rather be dead. It was the lantern or something.
[02:01:16] Get the shit out of here. Like what is it? The mask. What do you do? It comes back. But instead of coming back, it lands in your lap. You're coming to create a character. But I was like, oh, yeah, I look so cool. That's me right there.
[02:01:29] And then you get to create a character. I think that's pretty cool. Like maybe go up. I'm going to be that cool guy. But then I I was just I just recreated that. Actually, my character was Geralt of Rivia. That's what I made my character look like.
[02:01:42] You've been in fashion souls for a while. Yeah, I fashion soul. I wouldn't wear a helmet. I just wanted to see my my eyes. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Any more me points? Because I think I'm running out of this point. Oh, we didn't mention the mimics.
[02:01:57] Oh, God. Yeah. OK, so they fell for every single one of them. OK, there's this anime I watched called Friar in where she falls for every mimic. I was literally that. I was every time a mimic would happen, I would get attacked by it.
[02:02:10] Probably Nate probably see it happen to me like six times. Philip did it once and then he never fell for it again, as far as I'm aware. Can you land on them to like see them? Yeah. Like, how do you know when one's there?
[02:02:21] Oh, so whenever you look at the item, it's like a I don't know, it looks like a little soul that's kind of. Yeah, a little glowy. Like, yeah, a little glowy. So the fake ones, they're swirling like crazy. They are very suspicious, apparently. I never noticed.
[02:02:37] I never every time I saw a goodie, I would go, oh, I fell for the same mimic twice. No, I got in the same place. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So that was all you have to do is stop for one second
[02:02:48] and then the animation will swirl like this. It'll go like a big swirl. Yeah. And whenever you whenever you see that, you got to flay in that direction. You can't lock on to it because obviously that would give it away if you could lock onto it.
[02:03:00] So you have to play over it and then you'll you'll kill them off and it'll give you a bunch of cool shit. Yeah. And then also, I think you also lose the thing. Maybe. I don't know. I remember. But it's so for a plug on our YouTube channel,
[02:03:13] I think also on our Instagram, I don't remember. But we have a fucking reel where I was playing with and Philip and one of the clips, there's three clips. One of the clips is me getting killed by mimic. The other one is Philip getting Dark Souls ambushed.
[02:03:26] And then the third one is me falling to my death, trying to get an item that is just out of reach. Go fucking watch that is. Classic. All right. Classic. Lords of the Falling to our deaths. Well, one more thing.
[02:03:40] So you guys played so what the I think what the biggest thing was, obviously performance like I played when it first came out and it was dog shit, absolute dog shit. Like my computer couldn't even run this thing at like 30 frames per second. It was brutal.
[02:03:54] And like it was like hitching all the time, like mid mid animations would just stop and like and like freeze. And it was the fucking worst. It was driving me crazy. So there would be some boss fights where they put you in a little narrow bridge.
[02:04:09] And then I was like trying to dodge. Yeah. And I'm just trying to dodge out of this guy. And all he does is these big like A.O.E. fire attacks and there's no way you can get out of it.
[02:04:17] And then every time he would slam his hammer on the ground to make fire, it would like freeze the game for two or three frames. And you're like, what the fuck? And then I'd just be dead. Maybe it's a fourth wall breaking attack. Maybe it's crazy.
[02:04:29] But now I've noticed like when I started up, when I was playing with Naive and when I started my second playthrough, it's like way better compared to what it was when it first released. So the performance, although was not completely fixed, is
[02:04:46] way better than it was because you guys were saying you found some slowing down and stuff. Mostly especially in the beginning. For some reason, the area is just really bad. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And I don't know why.
[02:04:57] I saw a lot of complaining and steam was speaking to steam that makes. So the recent reviews are mostly positive and all reviews are mixed. Almost everyone's complaining about the the performance at the beginning when it first released.
[02:05:09] But whenever I don't know if you experienced this, Nate, which, by the way, crossplay seamless, very easy to do. So perfect. It took us like 20 minutes to figure it out, but we're stupid. That's why. Yeah. But we we figured out it's seamless.
[02:05:23] Did you notice any like latency or lag or like rubber banding? Because when I was playing with Philip, I was rubber banding fucking everywhere. But I think that was just our connections hating each other. Oh, yeah. I was I was well, our second session.
[02:05:37] I was a bit like it would jar me every like 10 minutes and like fast forward me a little bit. Yeah. But yeah, I wasn't like bouncing all over. Like whatever we were in a boss fight, it was fine. Yeah, that makes sense.
[02:05:49] Anywhere that counted the second time you did it, Rachel was here. So she was like, I think she was playing Fortnite in the background. So my Internet was under a little more. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But but like, man, the co-op was so fucking good in this game.
[02:06:03] The co-op is better than Elden Ring and it is because you can you when you join, you're just in there. And if you die, you just wait for you can get revived. For one thing like not the host, the co-op partner can get revived
[02:06:17] with one of their astus flasks or whatever they're called. And if they if you die, you just sit there and wait. And if the host dies, then you just respond with them. And whenever you kill a boss, you just move on with them.
[02:06:29] Like you just explore the whole time until you're done. So I definitely prefer that. It's basically the the seamless co-op mod and Elden Ring. So very cool. All right. Well, let's take a we're not going to we're going to take a break.
[02:06:44] This time, let's go in the final words. I'll take these first final words. This is going to be a recommend for me. I just loved going to the shadow realm, looking up, seeing a giant eyeball in the sky, looking down
[02:06:56] with weird deformed giants in the background that are like you know, mountains just in the distance. And it's like, well, this is just all there. And that's through the whole game is that there's two worlds that you can explore.
[02:07:11] And a lot of times you need to go into different worlds to traverse underwater and stuff like that. I thought it was so well done. This game is a souls like, but it does so much different that it's just refreshing to see this kind of variation in it.
[02:07:26] Got to be honest, odds are I'm not going to go back to finish this. It's probably going to get deleted pretty soon. But maybe further on the future, I'm like really itching for that. I might come back to this.
[02:07:37] But if you're looking for a new souls like experience, you have quite a few choices out there with like woe long and anime Dark Souls, I don't remember the name of it. Anything if you're looking for things that aren't Dark Souls,
[02:07:51] this is probably the top of the list as far as like the Dark Souls. That's not Dark Souls. This is the one like if you if you're not going to play Elden Ring
[02:08:00] when it comes out in a week or whatever, this is the game you need to be playing. Recommend if I had to tack on to that, I love the fucking I say to I especially love that the sun becomes an eyeball.
[02:08:12] Like that's just something that so it's like at all times. Yeah, you never looked up when you're in the dark world. Yeah, the sun is my ball. So like there are a lot of eyeballs everywhere. But like if you don't if you don't like eyeballs,
[02:08:24] because that's what all the fucking giants are looking at is the eyeball sun. And so it's like you always you always like think that there is something watching you like I don't know if the story ever resolves that I know. I am not great.
[02:08:39] Well, that makes me sad. But I do want to keep this game downloaded. And since I'm on that warpath for for finishing games, I do want to finish this. So yeah, man, I would. I was hoping you'd say that because I don't know if I can finish
[02:08:53] this by myself. I don't know if I have the patience, but I will definitely play every now and then whenever Nate's down to play some more this game. I highly recommend in co-op soft recommended. So it's single player. There's a lot of annoyances.
[02:09:07] And when you're the sole target of every enemy, it's things can get frustrating faster than if there are two dumbasses rolling around doing so. And I think that the trade off for having a call partner is not nearly high enough to make it.
[02:09:22] It makes the game significantly more easy, but it also makes it more entertaining to me. So if I had to go with Philip, like with the like the rankings of those those off brand souls likes, I'd probably also put this up at the top.
[02:09:35] Like like what was it? Wo long. So it's Lords of the Fallen. Wo long lies a P. And I think lies a P and Wo long are very close together. So lies a P is like only single player.
[02:09:46] So that's the reason why I like Wo long more, because I just like playing with friends. And so I don't necessarily enjoy souls like games as a single player experience. But whenever when games are hard and you're doing it with somebody else, you're suffering with someone else.
[02:10:00] It like spreads it out. So it's like, yeah, it becomes a company. Yeah, it becomes a better situation for me who has anger issues. So I really do enjoy this game. And even though it's fucking annoying, it's not even like, oh, I deserved that death.
[02:10:17] It's usually annoying whenever you die. Yeah, yeah. Never almost never fun. Yeah. So in final words, I actually did a review of this when it came out. It's actually on our YouTube Elder Trolls gaming on YouTube. I did a review.
[02:10:32] I gave it a six out of ten when I first played it because I was unbelievably frustrated with getting stuck on shit, rolling off the edges like just a stupid shit. I was so many bad guys like this. They've definitely toned down the amount of enemies
[02:10:51] that were jump scaring you and like jumping out of nowhere and hitting you off an edge like that was happening constantly. From what I was playing through my second playthrough and with Nave, I didn't notice. Oh, sorry, I noticed a lot less enemies
[02:11:08] and a lot less hidden enemies, which was like just that, but that just that alone made the game a lot better, even as a solo player. The performance was fixed a lot more than it was then. Like through my second playthrough, I got about halfway through and
[02:11:29] like definitely better than it was for sure. So if people were waiting to play it, like it's definitely a recommend now for sure. Just the aesthetic, the way it looks and feels and it gives you that kind of like claustrophobic.
[02:11:47] When you're in that other world, you start getting that paranoia feeling. Yeah, that kind of sick feeling in your in your guts where like everything's just popping up out of everywhere. The longer you stay in there, the more the enemies are coming,
[02:12:00] the more you're running out of stamina because you're swinging your sword. And then once you run out of stamina, you're fucking you're fucked pretty much. And then another bad guy comes out of nowhere, a reaper and slices you in half, whatever happens. But like
[02:12:14] in co-op, I didn't know in co-op, I didn't notice anything get harder. Right. It was like the same amount of bad guys in co-op and they were like the same difficulty as I was playing in my solo in my solo playthrough.
[02:12:28] So like if you want to play the game and have fun and like not smash your head against the wall, like definitely play co-op. Even but even with that being said, I think it's one of the easier souls like like is way easier than Liza P.
[02:12:43] Oh, yeah. Liza P. punishes you for playing like strength builds. Yeah, like this this was way easier than Liza P. And every time I shut down the game and I wait a few game and wait a few days, I was itching to get back into it
[02:12:59] and play just because I loved the way it looked. I just couldn't get it. And the way it sounds like my feet slapping on the on the stones in the hallways of the castles, like echoing. Yeah. Oh, man.
[02:13:09] So it's funny because this game like looks generic but better. It's like, yeah, plus, you know what I mean? But like, yeah, but I'm just going to add like recommend for me. Definite recommend for co-op if you want to play on Game Pass with a buddy.
[02:13:28] You could probably rip through it in like 40 hours, maybe 30, 40 hours if you're co-opping all the whole thing. It took me quite a bit because I did get stuck a few times where I had to cheese one boss with the poison bombs. But other than that, like
[02:13:45] now, if you were to play it, there's a lot less frustrations. And I think it's definitely a play. Now, if I had to rate it now, I rated a six out of 10 then through half my playthrough and what I played with Nave Co-op.
[02:13:58] It's easily an eight out of 10. Oh, for sure. Oh, yeah, I'd say so. All right. And with that, to this point, nasty Nate, I want to thank you for coming out to the pod from the Elder Trolls. Oh, thanks, guys.
[02:14:11] I love coming on here when I have the time. I'm here for sure. Oh, yeah. Dear listeners, their show is linked down the description. Please go give them a listen. And I'll put the review on the YouTube also in there. Yeah. Oh, yeah.
[02:14:24] Well, what are we playing next week? I don't know. Me either. I guess we'll figure it out. We're going to play banana. Get ready. Yeah, talk about the banana. So thanks for joining us this week, co-partners.
[02:14:38] Maybe next time we can all get banished to the Shadow Realm together. Neuron activate. Thanks, guys. This is a blast as usual. Hey, peace.
