[00:01:28] And I'm and I definitely miss you up there. I miss you up with that that's fluid smooth transition because my my podcast or brain

[00:01:35] Is not as intact as you used to be with Will and I just going at it every week

[00:02:32] But we was very much more of a casual conversation. I was like yeah, it happens and it was it was fun

[00:02:38] I wanted to like properly review it and I was like who would be good to review the last was part one in my my like my brain

[00:02:46] Can't think of anybody but you name and I don't know if it would be torturous to talk about that game again

[00:02:52] Part one okay, so it's just a meme that I don't

[00:02:55] It's the second one that I'm serious about but you played the second one right you finished it

[00:03:01] I played some of it over at a friend's house. I didn't play it all but I am I've see I've watched so much game

[00:03:06] I understand it plays it's like the epitome of the naughty dog uncharted formula

[00:03:11] I'm like okay, yeah as far as these games that the naughty dogs ever made very good

[00:03:15] This is very good compared to I've never I've never shot a bow in a video game that felt better than playing as Ellie

[00:03:21] In doing like hunting the serif with arrows like that was like the best feeling like shooting mechanic in a game that I've ever felt

[00:03:29] Which is just incredible especially when you compare it to like something like horizon

[00:03:33] And I don't even think that they're game mechanics and horizon are all that great for combat

[00:03:37] It's mainly just kind of like switching your armaments every different enemy, but regardless. Oh my god

[00:03:43] Did you see that Sony did a fucking they did their own bracket?

[00:03:47] I've seen you reposing his Twitter. Oh yeah, it's very funny guess guess what the finals were the two games that made it to the end of all their first party games

[00:03:57] Just a guy got a war back right?

[00:04:01] You guys are fucking so funny folks filled throughout God of War and then nick throughout Ragnarok

[00:04:06] That was it is God of War versus God of War

[00:04:10] That's so fucking stupid

[00:04:12] Oh my god, it was really fucking dire is in the first round every single game that wasn't an over the shoulder third person sad dad

[00:04:20] Subuader was knocked out right away. Oh

[00:04:23] So every game was like fucking it was either spider man or God of War or last of us and that was it those are the last fucking games

[00:04:30] So it's really interesting though because when we talk about like that that like the

[00:04:34] You know five games that they had across the two brackets that they had in that that actual thing there

[00:04:40] I just recently started playing Death Stranding as just like on a whim because I was tired of doing persona and I was like

[00:04:46] And I had just recently upgraded to the ps plus catalog edition of that service

[00:04:52] And I was like probably where I would go too. Yeah, yeah

[00:04:55] I think the premiums just garbage

[00:04:56] They don't really give you what you want if you want to play old games

[00:04:59] But they do give a good amount of like the first party stuff that if you don't want to pay for it

[00:05:03] You can just do like the service and then it kind of just pays for itself

[00:05:05] But I started playing

[00:05:07] Death Stranding because I got really really interested in what that story was trying to tell us

[00:05:13] In the trailer for the first one because the trailer for part two is like it was like

[00:05:18] I felt like it was 10 minutes long in that recent showcase that they debuted on it was really long

[00:05:22] But you know, I really like Leah Sedot and then they had George Miller

[00:05:25] They have all of the he and aokajima has all these celebrities in there

[00:05:28] And then I was talking to another friend about like and I started playing

[00:05:31] Death Stranding and I thought it was really cool

[00:05:33] Like I thought it was like the actual gameplay of that game is really really interesting

[00:05:38] I find the mechanics of what they're asking you to do a little bit uptoose and I find like the enemies in the way that they kind of like

[00:05:44] nerf your playable character in the game a little bit

[00:05:47] frustrating but I thought it was a really interesting idea and let's just say this up front

[00:05:52] Like could you even know what the fuck he's doing when it comes to horror?

[00:05:55] Like I was like that game is terrifying at times and I had no idea going into it

[00:06:00] I thought it was just gonna be a weird sci-fi metal gear type situation even though I've never played metal either

[00:06:07] But it's really just kind of scary too

[00:06:09] Is it if you're scared of the moments

[00:06:12] If you're scared of death then death can come swiftly in metal gear

[00:06:16] Okay, yeah, I am but it was it's really interesting and I was like

[00:06:19] But it's fascinating watching the cutscenes and the kind of like the direction

[00:06:23] In the way that the character is kind of like acting and moat on scene like it's all very like

[00:06:27] You you feel like you're legitimately watching a movie which I feel like has always been Kojima's goal

[00:06:32] That goes hand in hand with what Sony. I guess it's trying to do. I don't really

[00:06:37] I don't really know if I'm like buying into it that much

[00:06:40] But I do think the story he's trying to tell theirs like really fascinating have either of you played that

[00:06:46] I own it not like two different systems my favorite thing about Kojima games is not playing them because besides metal gear 5

[00:06:53] I've never had fun playing a Kojima game

[00:06:56] Yeah, but like I love listening to video docs about people who are passionate about that about fucking

[00:07:02] Kojima games because there's so much shit to dig into that people just go crazy with it

[00:07:06] And I just I'll just work and have a five hour video doc on the metal gear series

[00:07:10] And I won't absorb any of the information

[00:07:13] But I'm like the whole time I'm engaged. I'm like oh, that's cool

[00:07:15] And then I'll just instantly into the recycle bin

[00:07:18] Well, the interesting thing about Kojima is that he kind of like sits in the same place of my mind where I

[00:07:24] Like compartmentalized Tetsuya namura, whereas like they're really great creators

[00:07:28] They're like people who are really brilliant. They're smart. They're masters of their craft

[00:07:32] But they're also that like film bro who might be a little bit fake deep when he's trying to like convey what he's talking about

[00:07:39] To his friends or something I feel like they they're so caught up in their own intellectualism

[00:07:44] That they kind of forget to actually tell a real story that that creates emotional residents

[00:07:49] And it's the same thing where it's like

[00:07:51] There are some writers that I feel like they do anime like for example like the person who wrote free in

[00:07:55] They when it comes to actual storytelling they outclass people like numura or Kojima

[00:08:02] Like tend to one like it's not even comparable

[00:08:04] Like even the author a konosuba is like I think a better storyteller than some of these sometimes

[00:08:10] It's just like I guess it always depends and that's my opinion

[00:08:13] But it just depends on what you want to consume with that art

[00:08:16] The episodes are really good with the setup and pay off like there

[00:08:20] Like it's so it's it's it's transparent if you watched a lot of shows where it's like oh

[00:08:25] They're they're talking about this randomly. That's gonna come up later

[00:08:28] But then like uh when it does come up later, you're like

[00:08:31] Ah that was refreshing and good

[00:08:34] I was like over that stone. I was like finally

[00:08:38] I was watching for it. Yeah

[00:08:41] Anyway, I mean the stone was a big deal

[00:08:43] I'm really excited to know what you think about the Witcher 3 so far, Nate

[00:08:55] Let's just check in with what games we've been playing. Nate. I see you got the Witcher 3

[00:09:01] I am I am like so close to the finish line. I can see it dude

[00:09:04] I have been verifying all the other things

[00:09:07] No

[00:09:07] I still have two weeks left of the Witcher 3 but I am close to the the main game finish line and

[00:09:14] I can't I've cried three times and I'm like dude. I don't remember beings. I don't remember how good this game

[00:09:20] What like the emotional highs are so fucking high in this game? Oh, so this is a replay for you

[00:09:26] You've used it before okay. Yeah, so I remember because so I knew things were gonna happen

[00:09:30] I went into a thing knowing something was gonna happen and I was like I already was teary

[00:09:35] I'd knowing how it was gonna play out because I remember the first time in that I'm not gonna spoil anything

[00:09:40] But the first time in this specific thing and care more and

[00:09:43] That this thing happens. I just remember I was shocked the whole time

[00:09:46] And I was like I couldn't I couldn't really process it

[00:09:49] And then I just come in on with my with my life and this time knowing it was gonna have been made it so emotionally

[00:09:54] Investing to me and I had been doing like all of the side content

[00:09:58] I've been doing everything like I got everybody to come back to care more

[00:10:01] And I didn't even know that was an achievement, but I did it just just on accident because I was just doing everything for everyone

[00:10:07] I knew kind of vaguely how things were gonna play out

[00:10:10] So I knew what decisions I probably wanted to make you know what I mean because sometimes you make a decision and then some unintended shit happens on the line

[00:10:17] So it's like okay, I'm playing it in a way that I think that it would play out if it were like a film like a like a

[00:10:24] Like a TV series. Yeah

[00:10:26] And man dude, it's it's so fucking good like every single moment that I've been playing this game

[00:10:32] While the story is going on I'm having fun now all the other downtime shit is so fucking boring

[00:10:37] I fall asleep playing this game so much like I'll be traveling to a place

[00:10:41] And I'm just like nodding off like physically

[00:10:44] I did all the Gwent. I have every GWT card. Oh my god

[00:10:48] I honestly want to go back through that game just to play Gwent and compare it to

[00:10:52] The game that I'm playing now in Final Fantasy 7 rebirth and like see how Gwent stacks up to Queen's blood because it's so fucking fun

[00:11:00] And I remember like what what part like what pack did you go with?

[00:11:04] In Gwent did you go with the monsters or did you go because I feel like the strat really is just to go with the

[00:11:09] The North kingdoms right yeah, I went northern and because whenever you went around you draw a card

[00:11:14] And that just encourages you to be aggro as fuck. It's essentially just a red deck and magic the gathering

[00:11:18] So I go hard on the fucking paint in the first turn and I run every single spy

[00:11:24] I run three decoys max decoys because the enemy usually has spies as well

[00:11:29] So the the strat is play your spies

[00:11:31] They're gonna decoy your spies and then give you your spies back and then you decoy your own spies

[00:11:35] So they give them your spies again

[00:11:37] And then nerf them with the fucking things and then like like oh man

[00:11:41] I draw my whole deck every game like that's just how I literally play how I play magic together

[00:11:46] Where I'm just like I just want to draw my whole deck. Yeah, can I draw cards please and then uh

[00:11:51] But it's it's so unbalanced. It's so insanely unbalanced that it doesn't nothing matters

[00:11:57] Like once you get a specific like threshold of cards

[00:12:00] You're just gonna win every fucking game and so it doesn't nothing matters

[00:12:04] I will say when it comes to like fantasy cities as well because I love fantasy cities and games

[00:12:09] I just I'm that's something I fucking nerd out about and Nova grad is probably one of the most realized like well crafted

[00:12:17] fantasy series or like cities in any any like game that I've played that that's in the style of the Witcher

[00:12:22] It's just it's incredible

[00:12:24] Yeah, we're so then like Skyrim or anything like that. It just fuels

[00:12:27] What it's gotten with this 20 inhabitants or whatever

[00:12:31] Yeah, but you know, I guess they I guess that's unfair

[00:12:33] I don't know do you think it's unfair to compare Skyrim to the Witcher 3?

[00:12:35] It depends on the town because some of the towns like solitude and like windhelm are like really good

[00:12:40] So my runs pretty good

[00:12:42] But then some of them like real bad

[00:12:44] I don't like them like mark this is the thing is that like Nova grad is the size of every city and Skyrim put together

[00:12:51] And then it has 10 times the population

[00:12:53] Yeah, and also you can go you can go into every building in in Skyrim

[00:12:57] But in and you can't do that in the Witcher

[00:12:59] But there's so many side quests that take you into areas and like you get familiar with even though Nova grad's so big

[00:13:06] You do get familiar with like each of the districts and stuff and like have all the characters that are in the districts look a specific way

[00:13:13] It's really cool like I I love Nova grad

[00:13:15] But the funniest part is Nova grad so insane for a city in a video game

[00:13:19] But it's also like the worst place to be in the Witcher

[00:13:23] Besides the swamp the swamp can eat my ass. I hate that bucket place

[00:13:26] But other everywhere else is just like I like I said before I was I'm a virtual tourist in the Witcher

[00:13:31] And I'd been taking pictures non-stop I've like a hundred of them and I'm just constantly like I see a cool fucking

[00:13:37] I see the ray tracing coming through the fucking trees with the sun coming and it's like it's like sunset

[00:13:43] And it's all red and purple and blue and I'm like holy fuck and I got a stop

[00:13:46] I got a pose and fucking take a picture so that like I've been constantly doing that and

[00:13:51] The Witcher is such a beautiful fucking game. I'm playing the collectors edition or whatever

[00:13:56] So I'm getting all the achievements again. It's fucking awesome. Are you gonna are you gonna do the two DLC for it?

[00:14:02] Oh, I love the DLC man

[00:14:05] The DLC for these games are absolutely incredible like I guess

[00:14:09] I would be willing to say that CD project is probably the best when it comes to paid DLCs and like giving you

[00:14:16] Like the value for your money because I mean if we just recently talked about

[00:14:20] Phantom Liberty Phantom Liberty. Yeah with the other trolls and that's just like

[00:14:24] It's absolutely insane

[00:14:25] So it's like the the two the name of the two DLC that are here are like I'm trying to remember

[00:14:30] Blood and I'm blood and blood and no blood and wine and heart of stone

[00:14:35] Heart of stone. Yeah, I knew it was so good. Fill up literally like combined

[00:14:42] They hell yeah, man. I'm so what's really fucking insane is that a character like I didn't you wouldn't know this

[00:14:49] Unless you replayed the game

[00:14:50] But the main character in heart and in a in a heart of stone

[00:14:55] Talks to you at the beginning of the fucking game in the Witcher 3

[00:14:59] He's the first motherfucker you talk to is the guy from the heart of stone

[00:15:03] And when I saw him was like oh my fucking god

[00:15:07] You you're the one who sent me on this path because that path ultimately leads to him way down the line

[00:15:13] And but it on the way you change the entire fucking

[00:15:16] Sejectory of the wars and everything that's like what the fuck he did that to me. That's so crazy

[00:15:24] I'm not really saying who he is

[00:15:26] But like I said the first guy you talked to in the Witcher 3 is a main character and it doesn't seem like that

[00:16:52] Sure in three. I mean they just can't leave him alone

[00:16:55] He's just going out there. He's the best dude is the same with Kieru and you can use a no one can leave Kieru alone

[00:17:04] Because I mean like he should be kind of like like gross looking and like a little bit stinky because he's out fighting

[00:17:11] Monsters all the time like why can't women get enough of Geralt like why has he such a gig a chat? Can you explain

[00:17:23] I mean that's good. I'm fertile

[00:17:39] He can tell that he's like it got emotional scars and I guess I guess he's got scars on the outside and inside

[00:17:44] Which dude by the way man there is a part the the fucking the animation in this game is so wonderful like there's a part where something really

[00:17:53] Sad is happening and Geralt who has never in the whole game really showed too much emotion starts visibly

[00:18:02] Walking around pacing anxious like he is visibly like like he does the thing where you walk away

[00:18:07] Like you can't look at what you think is happening like he can't spot like it's I

[00:18:12] I had my heart seized up. I was like it's so good

[00:18:15] Like that isn't him that is a perfect encapsulation of what someone who's going through like a horrific loss looks like

[00:18:22] Like it's so fucking good and

[00:18:26] No, I've read like half of the first one which is a prequel so it's not like the actual first one

[00:18:31] I don't think but yeah the books are real good like I love them and

[00:18:37] You don't need to watch the show, but the books are real good

[00:18:43] But then I reading is hard because you can't multitask while reading is hard reading it takes it takes your whole attention

[00:19:16] Skyrockets exponentially when I do nothing but reading and it's like and I learned this trick from an old girlfriend of mine who

[00:19:23] Turned out to actually be an author is that the best readers

[00:19:26] They don't read the words in their head

[00:19:29] They see the words and their brain automatically recognizes meaning and then you can are ageable to just scan the page with your brain

[00:19:36] It's it's the kind of thing really yeah

[00:19:39] Well, so that was one thing because like so Melissa's been watching me play these games

[00:19:43] But like I was playing something in Japanese whatever one of the last games I was playing was playing in Japanese and she was like

[00:19:51] That was probably yeah, it might it's either that or unicorn overlord

[00:19:53] But she's like you are you're skipping way too fast. I'm not getting I'm not reading fast

[00:20:30] But I've been just trying to beat the Witcher 3 and battle fronts distracted me

[00:20:33] Unfortunately, it looks like rainbow six is gonna start distracting me too because it's rainbow six

[00:20:38] It's going insane right now like literally

[00:20:41] Last night. I was like I'm thinking about playing it and I so

[00:20:44] I've been wanting to play for like three weeks

[00:20:47] randomly

[00:20:48] Me and Moodahar some ordinary gamer makes a game makes a video about it

[00:20:51] And then moist critical makes two videos about it and I'm like whoa

[00:20:54] It looks fucking it looks like it's popping off right now. There's a new season there's new operators

[00:20:58] And I'm like okay, I'm gonna download it again

[00:21:00] And I go to Xbox looking for groups which is always what I do in rainbow six Siege

[00:21:04] And there were 15,000 last night and literally I would watch it because it'd be like refresh because there's four more

[00:21:11] But it would be like one five seven twelve thirteen thirty three sixty five fifty it was just always there were more getting made

[00:21:17] I'm like what the fuck is going on everyone's playing this game and I went to go look at Halo Infinite and there was 25

[00:21:23] Oh yeah

[00:21:25] Which uh which is is not fair technically because Halo Infinite's a different type of game rainbow six Siege

[00:21:30] Did they not just come out with season six or something did that not just happen?

[00:21:34] They don't do seasons anymore. They do like a different thing so that so they're more often than seasons

[00:21:39] But they're less big or something. I don't know okay interesting, but um

[00:21:43] So cuz rain because rainbow six Siege you gotta be communicating it is like League of Legends

[00:21:48] Like you do not want randoms if you can avoid it

[00:21:51] Like you need to pee pee pee have people in your party that you can communicate with that aren't fucking stupid

[00:21:56] And Halo Infinite you can just win if you're good. Yeah, if you're good you can just win

[00:22:00] You know what I mean and that can happen in Siege but like it's a lot less likely because in Siege you get killed by

[00:22:05] Random stray bullet ricochets a fucking washing machine and then you're out for the whole round you can't help your team anymore so

[00:22:13] Anyway, um yeah, but then battlefront so battlefront

[00:22:16] I just want to really quick say really quickly say i'm seeing a whole bunch of hate for this game

[00:22:22] Um they they didn't have to enough servers at the very beginning

[00:22:24] But now I played it the very next day and then the day after and it works totally fine

[00:22:29] But one primary thing that's broken about this game is whenever you go into multiplayer and you quit join

[00:22:34] It

[00:22:35] Doesn't work so don't use quick joint

[00:22:37] I think people are hitting quick joint. It doesn't work and they go the game's broken and then they fucking wander off

[00:22:41] They don't do anything

[00:22:42] So you literally just go to search for a match

[00:22:45] Don't put any fucking thing in just leave it a blank and then it'll show you every game

[00:22:50] It's like an old school game, you know what I mean like you literally have the old battlefront works

[00:22:53] And then you then you pick from the server list which server you want to join and as long as it's not full or has a password

[00:22:59] You'll just be able to join right away now a lot of the videos

[00:23:02] I've been seeing like uh the act man made a video

[00:23:05] I think voice critical made a video they're playing on pc

[00:23:08] And they're showing footage that looks horrendous

[00:38:06] And then they have a proto relic and you take one piece in the second piece

[00:38:09] There's actually a mini game where cloud and whoever's in his party whether it's Tifa Barrett

[00:38:15] Arith or red 13 get sucked into this like did you realm and they get like

[00:38:21] They get turned into like the political

[00:38:23] Polygonal versions of the characters and then look

[00:38:25] Similar to what they looked like in the original. That's kind of like a nice callback

[00:38:29] But it's a TT like the mini game itself is like a live action arpeggio like a command and conquer

[00:38:34] Um just like in game until like there's like three minute rounds

[00:38:38] Yeah, it's a real-time strategy game and you had and it's and they gave you a weapon triangle

[00:38:42] Just like fire and bloom and so you have to create like shield units or like

[00:38:47] Infrared tree units or or archers and so that sort of thing. So it's really really cool actually and they they

[00:38:52] You have to switch or yeah, it's for condor was in the original. Yeah, that's it

[00:40:42] Attacks for whichever characters you're playing as and then you build up your ATB. You can perform those attacks in real time

[00:40:48] And then you force kids summon your character at a certain point and then you have limit breaks

[00:40:53] And depending on the weapon you use that changes the limit breaks

[00:40:56] They added an additional wrinkle now in final fantasy seven remake that is like the synergy system

[00:41:02] That is something they carried over from final fantasy seven integrate when they introduced the ufee character

[00:41:08] Which was really really cool

[00:41:10] And where it's like you press r1

[00:41:12] And as you're leveling up the skill tree for whichever character that you go along

[00:41:16] And there are certain like synergy

[00:41:18] Attacks skills that you can do where your characters can either be like bodyguards in this case like a

[00:41:25] Like a bird is coming in a swoop and hit you or somebody can like for example cloud has a synergy skill

[00:41:30] Where he can pick up Tifa with his sword and just toss her at an enemy and she beats the shit out of it

[00:41:42] You can do like a synergy skill ultimate attack and there's one with erath and cloud that's called like firework blade
