[00:02:28] like significant co-op memory? Is it going into the midnight release of Call of Duty 4,

[00:02:33] getting a coffee coming home and well I guess it's not really co-op but you're doing it with your

[00:02:36] bros. We always reference back to like Gears of War one or something like that. St.

[00:02:40] All night, Blast through the campaign. So it's our you Thrac. Do you have a notable co-op

[00:02:45] memory you would like to share? Well my memories of growing up playing games with people was usually

[00:02:50] more competitive like playing Smash or like Soul Calibre 2. I remember one of my birthday parties

[00:02:55] was a Soul Calibre 2 tournament which was a lot of fun. But the most... I probably my best co-op

[00:03:00] memory it's actually recorded is a me and Chris of a novel console playing through the entire

[00:03:05] Gears of War series actually. Which was a lot of fun so if you want to hear our thoughts go

[00:03:10] we're gonna check it out it's kind of spread out in parts but yeah that was really good

[00:03:14] but usually I just played games by myself you know how do I know how do I do my room playing Xbox 360

[00:03:20] like a man. I don't have blue dragon. Now I was playing Rema 6 Vegas 2. Okay.

[00:03:26] Play the shit classic. It's legitimately an amazing game. The only thing I can remember about

[00:03:32] that game is that in order to get the achievements they were they were terrible grinds so people would

[00:03:36] just host a lobby and they would get a rubber band and rubber band the two sticks together

[00:03:40] and just leave it there all night with their controller plugged into the 360. And both of them

[00:03:46] had one achievement that was pay walled where it's you buy the vision cam and then put yourself

[00:03:50] put your face on it. It barely worked. I finally did it for the first time like a couple months back.

[00:03:55] It was a pain in the ass but I got the achievements. Oh God nice.

[00:03:59] And Jake do you have a notable call memory you like to share? Sure let me take you back

[00:04:04] way back to the time of the wildly successful Wii U. So I have a few kids and back then they were

[00:04:10] like five and three and very soft they'd want to sit down and play Mario with me so I'm like all right

[00:04:16] cool I'm always about getting my kids to play games we sit down it I go to turn the Wii U and it

[00:04:20] doesn't turn on and they just keep saying game game game. All right let me go look at the Wii U

[00:04:26] I go to the Wii U and my kids tried to shove two discs into the Wii U. Classic go up after that

[00:04:35] yeah so that's pretty much when I went all digital my game purchases going forward so

[00:04:39] I do a lot of cool with my kids that's why which memory lately which two discs were there

[00:04:44] it was Mario maker and I want to say it was Mario Galaxy because he's got a bad ability

[00:04:49] double double third and game and Wario nice yeah so it'll be such a shame the lose the

[00:04:59] devil's third yeah I mean yeah it's worth so much for now because people are stupid really

[00:05:05] yeah like $500 now it's the most one of the most valuable Wii U games it had a really low print run

[00:05:12] and it's kind of crap for the first one I see $300 yeah for a disc that's nuts yeah

[00:05:24] if you would call if you would call since we have the collection people out out in about right now

[00:05:29] if you could just collect a whole bunch of one really bad game what would the bad game be

[00:05:33] because I kind of I'm thinking maybe I want to have the what does that vampire game

[00:05:38] fill of your member the really shitty one on the 360 where I couldn't even get past the tutorial

[00:05:41] it was so hard what was that vampire game called darkness no there was like it is a good game but

[00:05:48] was a blood rain no blood rain was a PS2 air again oh man I think it might have actually been like

[00:05:53] a vampire the masquerade type title but that the one is not this nostalgic made vampire rain

[00:06:34] say am I invited maybe but I will say it it's not up to me it's a great game I have a lot of issues

[00:06:42] with it I think I prefer seven but it is very very good it's a little too big it's kind of

[00:06:49] bloated in my opinion like well over 50 at this point because I'm doing a bunch well because

[00:06:56] well with Yakuza you gotta do all the side quests and this games some of the side quests are bad

[00:07:01] like straight up bad like there there's the one with the dude who's like playing the ukulele

[00:07:07] and it's like seven different fucking parts and I'm like why am I constantly being ping pong to do this

[00:07:12] for cutscenes that don't matter and then for a resolution that was kind of funny but it wasn't

[00:07:15] really worth all the bathroom it really was joke like it's just not worth it but then they do good

[00:07:21] ones where it's like this lady's like oh there might be a UFO and it stole my pet chicken

[00:07:26] and then you find it and it's the fucking street sweeper that can now hover in the god damn

[00:07:31] yeah it's so funny man and he's like oh I fitted it with special armor and each of

[00:07:35] them I was like why did you fit it with special armor ridiculous so many of the side quests are like

[00:07:41] someone from someone from each of you or itching Joe wherever the seven took place

[00:07:48] just being in Hawaii and each of you going yeah why are you here and then they're like I'm just

[00:07:52] doing the same thing I was doing which almost feels like it's it's it's kind of bad because

[00:07:57] the ones that are purely new aren't that great you know because then you'll have the one I

[00:08:02] remember fondly is the dude who's like trying to get snow for his like dying wife and then you bump

[00:08:10] into the baby cult the adult baby cult he's like oh well user like baby powder mixed in with water

[00:08:15] to make snow so the ending is like the two of them in the room having this nice sentimental like

[00:08:21] conversation about like you know the end of life and how much they loved each other and then it

[00:08:25] cuts to the roof like these these dudes and diapers are chucking fake snow being like come on we'll do

[00:08:31] this even if we're buck ass naked but the fake snow is like the powder that's inside of diapers

[00:08:37] yeah the baby powder and they mix it with like water and it creates like the same consistency or

[00:08:41] something it's fucking ridiculous but when it's great it's fantastic but there are times where

[00:08:47] it becomes kind of a slog like it could just be me but all the key room memory stuff I don't

[00:08:52] fucking care because I haven't played any of those games so it means nothing to me oh I love that

[00:08:56] shit every single one of them I sat because I was I was talking to Melissa in the party she watched

[00:09:01] me play the whole game and I every I did all of them and every single one of them I would sit there

[00:09:05] and talk for like 20 to 30 minutes about like the significance of it yeah but the first one I played

[00:09:11] with seven so that's where I'm at so but anyways on the other game I'm playing I'll try to make it

[00:09:16] quick is a second though I have a physical Xbox copy because I'm a weirdo it's my second go

[00:09:23] around it's very good it's a from soft game of course yeah I don't have too much experience with

[00:09:28] them but I like this games very agile movement and it feels like I'm not just waiting around waiting

[00:09:35] for stuff to happen I can sort of engage in that stuff though fuck the chain ogre I hate that asshole

[00:09:41] but I figured I had a beat him like I found like a ledge that he would just kind of keep trying to

[00:09:47] grab me but I would be up here and I would just stab him until he died so worked out but yeah

[00:09:52] it's a little bit easier but it's almost the way you need gotta do what you gotta do so yeah I'm on

[00:09:57] the second general I was trying to beat him before this but I fucked up so here I am dude speaking

[00:10:03] of fucking cheesing shit I guess I'll start talking because dude I beat RoboCop and the fucking boss

[00:10:09] fights in this game you have to fucking fight the big the big guy that does the tyrannosaurus roar

[00:10:15] I don't I've never watched RoboCop but I was familiar with this because I saw this robot on family

[00:10:19] guy it's just the big thing with too big mishmany guns I don't know you should have if you've

[00:10:25] never seen the first rubber cop movie do yourself a favor yeah it is incredible I wanted to watch

[00:10:30] it until I beat this game and I'm angry about it but the the the game the boss fights are some of

[00:10:36] the worst boss fights I've ever fucking experienced in a game where every single one just every single

[00:10:41] one the only way to get through it you have to shoot them like nine quadrillion times and you have

[00:10:46] to hide behind like a van or something and just peek over it and just shoot the top of it and

[00:10:51] just walk around it as it chases you around it every boss fight is like that even the in the very

[00:10:57] end of the game you're to fight this giant you have to fight RoboCop 2 like literally it is RoboCop 2

[00:11:03] but it is just another big robot with a minigun attached to it and it's all the police need

[00:11:09] I I was fucking actually shaking in real life I was getting so mad at this game they also it

[00:11:15] was that I literally just beat it so I'm kind of in a bad mood right now I beat it like at 640

[00:11:20] and then we started the podcast at 7 o'clock because I was like dude I'm not I've been doing this

[00:11:25] for like an hour and I am not gonna beat this fucking game before I get the podcast starts and

[00:11:29] that's gonna make me so mad so I had an ultimatum I was like dude I am deleting this game up my

[00:11:34] hard drive at 7 o'clock whether I beat it or not and I didn't it eventually beating it and the

[00:11:38] game is good like that's the shitty that's the that's the shittiest thing is that the game is fun

[00:11:43] the all time until the right at the end when you start fighting mercenaries that body armor

[00:11:48] because the game already has a problem with where you have to shoot a criminal 47 times in the

[00:11:53] head with a 50 caliber fucking desert eagle before they die and now you have to do it 700 times

[00:11:59] in order to kill these mercenaries with all this armor and shit

[00:12:03] and then you have to fight robots which are the exact same because the what I would do is

[00:12:08] you can literally just walk up to it enemy grab him by the neck and just throw him 500 feet of the

[00:12:13] air like crack down it's so fun and it's like actually a good way to play the game but then you

[00:12:18] can't do that against the robots or the mercenaries or you can do it gets most mercenaries but not

[00:12:23] like the really heavy ones and it's so crazy because you could pick up like two ton dumpsters and

[00:12:28] throw them but you can't pick up this mercenary with a little bit more armor on like I was just

[00:12:33] getting so fucking frustrated with this game today I want to ask why are you so into these uh

[00:12:39] these macho classic like movie games lately because you just did the terminator game that came out

[00:12:46] of pretty recent I think it's the same guys are they seen terminator yeah I haven't seen

[00:12:52] watch the movies man it's like he doesn't even have like the name recognition in there where he's

[00:12:59] like oh man I definitely want to play a game based on the movies that I love it's just I'll play

[00:13:03] this game yeah now if you want to play a bad Robocop game play the NES one that game is dog shit

[00:13:09] all games of the NES are dogs no that's not no no I've been watching Jeff Gertzman go through the

[00:13:18] entire catalog for science so it's a good series yeah I'm playing some good ones though

[00:14:01] the the PS2 Robocop game the PS use words at man that's that's Pete game for him I have a

[00:14:07] sauce spot for Robocop versus the Terminator like it's not a great game but I kind of like it

[00:14:12] oh that's like a literal game yeah that's kind of weird that yeah you play as Robocop and you're

[00:14:17] fighting a bunch of like Terminators all right well I also I saw in this dips into my what get

[00:14:24] out would have died by because I pre-ordered unicorn overlord I don't know why I didn't write that down

[00:14:28] and then I bought this game this game that we talked about last week I think Philip or was it the

[00:14:33] year the week before but it's ballad show some point no it was last week because the the person that

[00:14:39] we did the A my the asshole for one of them they were type they were posting a lot in the ballad show

[00:14:44] subreddit and I was like what the fuck is this and then I saw it in the new games on Xbox and I was

[00:14:48] like huh that's interesting and so I bought it and it is it's essentially just a it's a it's a

[00:14:53] rogue-like deck building game but you're the deck you're building as just a literal poker deck and

[00:14:58] you are just playing poker kind of so good it's awesome yeah and so Jake has this in his game so

[00:15:06] I'll just I'll just soft pitch it over to you because you got ballad show there yeah it's poker

[00:15:11] it's poker rogue-like but it's not really poker I guess it's poker adjacent right it's poker

[00:15:16] influence you're using poker cards and there's poker terms like anti-implines but really it's

[00:15:21] it's just poker for scoring and it's got that wonderful rogue-like loop where you're just trying

[00:15:26] to find the items that break the game and when you break the game it's just very satisfying oh yeah

[00:15:32] buddy of mine in my show he he his highest hand 11 million points because he had such a broken

[00:15:38] set of Joker cards that gave a wild effect for multiplying he just broke the run any any nailed it

[00:15:44] but there's just so much in this game like it's it looks so deceiving deceivingly simple it's

[00:15:48] only 60 megs which is unheard of in 2024 but it's it's there's like a dozen different decks

[00:15:53] challenges modes all kinds of all kinds of unlockables just so much value and it's like 1315 bucks

[00:16:00] like it's insane how good this game is for 13 bucks it really is well a great game

[00:16:04] it's really cool too because like you you get these jokers and that's that's those are the items

[00:16:08] that you get like binding eyes a guy to items you get jokers that change the way the game scores

[00:16:13] and I had one where it was like every time a heart came out it made it and multiply or go up by

[00:16:17] like five and then I had something else for hearts and then yada yada and you get tarot cards

[00:16:22] and the tarot cards can change whatever and you can use them right away or you can wait to use them

[00:16:26] and so I had a tarot card that I could change uh two cards to hearts and I was like great

[00:16:31] I'm just gonna wait for a good moment to use this and I got a flush with the king the ace king queen

[00:16:38] jack ten and I was able to change two cards to hearts to make it a royal flush and it's just like

[00:16:44] you whenever you start scoring high things catch on fire and it's like

[00:16:49] and it just starts to go crazy crazy and I'm like ah like it it felt so good and I recorded it

[00:16:54] and I watched it back and I was like this is the nerdyest shit I've ever recorded

[00:17:00] I'm told it's like a roguelike deck builder for people who do not like those type of games

[00:17:05] which is me so yeah you're not gonna but into slay the spire and stuff

[00:17:10] yeah whenever whenever I see games that have like card systems I'm just like no I don't

[00:19:41] popular I think for good reason I hope it sticks around I hope it still stays popular a year from now

[00:21:41] now I'm also in a fire emblem awakening again because that's like one of my favorite games to play

[00:21:46] at the gym while I'm on the exercise bike just like grinding battles and stuff which system is that

[00:21:51] one or is that the game boy 3DS that was the 3DS one the one that saved the series yes he's grinding for

[00:21:57] the white foods yeah yeah that's what you do got it that's a series damn right it's not actually

[00:22:04] that bad no way I think but um and then the other game with the purple haired axe lady

[00:24:07] like a whole bunch of interviews and like stuff about how they made the game because I'm legitimately

[00:24:12] curious because apparently from what it sounds like they had a blast making that game in quotation

[00:25:27] a super Nintendo game the third one in the series and ever played the original and I'm not sure

[01:47:50] that showed up the funner it got last name was probably the best time I've had playing Mario Kart

[01:47:54] in a long time so Jake I mean like you said it's it's Mario Kart you have to play it it's like

[01:48:00] it's one of the best games on the switch and as many other kart racers have come out over the years

[01:48:06] and there's definitely been some who've come close but nobody's ever trumped Mario Kart nobody

[01:48:10] right the closest to me maybe is possibly sonic racing transformed maybe but there's something

[01:48:16] about Nintendo and what they do with Mario Kart is so good you know like more sonic transformed I

[01:48:20] like know I love oh I love this yeah yeah I love yeah but it's Mario Kart 8 is fantastic like

[01:48:27] there's a reason it's sold 60 million copies it's but like for me it collected dust for maybe a

[01:48:32] year or so until they brought that DLC out and I couldn't be happier to have DLC even if it's not

[01:48:36] triple-acquality DLC tracks there's still 48 goddamn tracks added to the game like there's

[01:48:42] so much in this game now it's it's one of those games on my switch that I never uninstall

[01:48:47] even if I'm just playing for like five ten minutes it's one of those games it's a it's a perfect

[01:48:52] Nintendo game there's a lot on the switch I don't like but Mario Kart is always one that I

[01:48:56] will go back to him play I'm definitely waiting for more people to like be like hey Mario Kart night

[01:49:33] and have a good time I've played it with you guys I've played it with small children I've played it

[01:49:39] with other like casual adults I've had so many different Mario Kart experiences in my life but

[01:49:44] they've all been you know pretty on point and no one's ever complained about it being bad

[01:49:49] so yeah it's a it's a perfectly fine game it's not really for me I think in racing games I prefer

[01:49:56] other types of games but you know I I don't I've never had a bad time playing Mario Kart you know

[01:50:03] so yeah it's an easy recommend well said that's better than mar it's better than Mario Party
