[00:00:00] Oh, did you see the Scott Pilgrim anime?
[00:00:14] Not yet.
[00:00:16] Everybody's saying it either.
[00:00:17] Everyone's either saying it fucking sucks or it's the best thing ever.
[00:00:20] So of course, that's what's happening right now.
[00:00:25] I'm a spoiler so they're free though.
[00:00:26] Apparently Scott Pilgrim, this off for the first half of the game. And we don't see him for a long time. Yeah, you're right. That is our favorite. Halo game. Yeah, I forget sometimes. Hello and welcome to gaming together. Claudio podcast.
[00:01:45] I'm your host Philip and I'm here with my co numbers now. We could talk about that in a minute. But I guess right now, Persona 5 tacticites just came out, played a little bit of that. Yeah, I got installed. It is good. It's really out a week. Is that the fighting one? Because there's also like a fighting game. Oh, yeah. Persona four, Persona four has a fighting game. Oh, well, not important. I'm probably going to play it anyways and just be spoiled.
[00:04:20] I'll be fine with it.
[00:04:22] Persona five strikers, persona five dancing in starlight and 150 hours of mahjong in order to get all of the achievements. So is this old? The man who forgot his name or whatever? Or is this the man who lost his name or something like that? Yeah, these Japanese titles are getting pretty good. The game, I probably this is probably it's like, in Yakuza 7, it's like, it's all about Ichiban, but we'll never mind. But it's okay, but like, you gotta play all these games. You gotta play all of them, all the 500 hours of Yakuza to fully encompass the story. It's like Dragon Quest.
[00:07:00] There's 11 of them, I think.
[00:07:01] You just start playing them.
[00:07:03] Well, I could look up, hold on, let me go,
[00:07:05] like, I could look up it. And I didn't get all the achievements, but then Kwame, Kwame, Kwame one looks like I didn't put too much time in, Kwame two looks like I was stuck in, but then Yakuza three and four, I basically mainlineed, then Yakuza five I got stuck in, and then Yakuza six I got all the achievements in. Which two were you forever? Which four are the worst ones? Well, I love four.
[00:08:20] Four is the first one I played.
[00:08:22] Or five is the first one I played actually.
[00:08:24] But I really like four, but Yakuza going afterwards is that orphanage so it sucks I need to go back and play I will play all of these games again at some point unfortunately but um man they're fucking so good Yakuza and a great thing is is that Yakuza like a
[00:09:42] dragon's a great starting point but if you as probably the best ending of a yakuza game that's ever happened because you could Kiryu achievements. But like I said, 30 is crazy. Usually these games take about 100 something hours to get all the achievements in because you have to like complete the completion list and everything. So I mean, this is- I do a little side events, help people with the little tiny race cars. Yeah, this is a great fucking game. You do get to play with the race cars.
[00:12:20] I beat all of that stuff.
[00:12:22] I was just, that's really the first time
[00:12:23] I've ever done the fucking pocket circuit.
[00:12:25] Like actually, usually I've just been listening to them, all the Yakuza guidance, spot of karaoke songs.
[00:13:40] Oh man.
[00:13:41] Dude, wait, by the way, the intro to fucking Like A Dragon Guidance has Jid in it, which
[00:13:46] I don't think you remember, but Jid is my favorite rapper. We're getting the next like a dragon game and then in February. We're getting the next persona thing the persona 3 remake Dude, I'm and then in December. Don't forget. We're getting fucking Baldur's gate So it's like dude. It is like boom boom boom boom these fucking huge games Just fucking dominoing into my backlog speaking of backlogs. I'm done
[00:15:01] That was a lot
[00:15:02] That was good. I'm still playing Metal Gear Solid too far. And I'm like, Oh my God, things are about to pop off in chapter two. And then chapter
[00:16:20] two is like, Hey, there's some sheep that need to be rescued in this village. Can you
[00:16:24] go? You have balloon lift them out and haven't like killing one I think it's faster doesn't it? Yeah, I mean that's the thing dude because when you say stealth I inherently think slow monotonous gameplay and you better not fuck up, but it's metal
[00:17:40] They're real fast. Yeah, you gotta dodge past people little outpost and you didn't even intend to do that, but it just happens. But in this mission, all my way in, I found some, uh, the trip mines, the little claymores, I think, uh, and you pick those up because you can like disarm them and recover them. I'm like, finally a weapon. I stealth into the little
[00:19:01] room and I'm like, how am I going to destroy the comic women because I want to be silenced
[00:19:04] away to destroy it? I don't have any is so good. I got even like that little description to your listener. If that entices you at all, go try this game. At the beginning, you'll be like, these controls are really awkward and dooky. They are very strange for a third person shooter. But this
[00:20:22] game isn't about shooting is like the weird part, but you do a what's up. I'm pretty sure Metal Gear Solid five has the world record for longest. That's for success. I looked it up because I was talking to JP about it. There is a segment that is, which I don't even know what that is, but I own it. That's the first game I ever played on Xbox One. I know that your house. Yeah. I don't. Is it? I think it's just a shooter.
[00:23:04] I think it's like a you're flying on a. Yeah. Oh, well, oh, you know what I was saying way earlier?
[00:24:22] That was it.
[00:24:22] So when I brought up Scott Pilgrim, the whole reason was because I saw Sonic Heroes
[00:24:28] and it reminded me to Chris Jory. Same as fuck. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, make it to a point where we could be more sustainable with our our Patreon support. Maybe we could do more for the not. I chose our last round of three assholes involving Walluigi. How about you go into our asshole sheet and pick out an asshole for us to weigh justice upon? Yeah, it's fine. This whole time I haven't had the notes open at all. So let me go look at that. Oh, here you do. You need the sheet? No, I just got it.
[00:28:21] Okay. What episode is this? This is episode. Go look up the scientists if you rescue them. Did you use the Lapras? No, I was actually using Lapras on my run. That always sent us straight to the box. Every time I ever get it, unless it's Pokemon Yellow, because in Pokemon Yellow, you can get all the different flavors of Pokemon, but I always use that to surf
[00:29:40] because I'm pretty sure that's the sprite.
[00:29:42] Yeah, it is.
[00:29:43] It's always a Lapras, no matter what Pokemon you're using.
[00:29:47] In Pokemon Yellow, could you teach Pikachu to surf? but it looks like it can be done is a Pikachu variant. It was only given out at events. So you could have gone a surfing Pikachu forever broke the meta Pokemon making every piece of every piece of the most expensive trade you could ever do. Oh, look at this. Apparently there was also flying Pikachu with the balloons that you could
[00:31:00] also get that made him a flying type. Then there's cosplay Pikachu's that came out in Omega Ruby Or maybe it was black and white too, I don't know. But I got a, because X and Y had Greninja, right? As the water type starter. Yeah, I'm not sure. I think it was. And I got a shiny Greninja from a event at GameStop. And I didn't go to the event for that. I just happened to be there with my 3DS
[00:32:21] and Pokemon was the game that was in it.
[00:32:24] And then I was buying So it felt bad. I was like, I've gave a bunch of scumbags, a bunch of Pokemon. True. It didn't matter, because every time I got something good back, I would just send it away again. You know what I mean? Of course. All right, so do you want to read it? Just wondering if you want me to take it. I read mostly last time, so you read it.
[00:33:41] Okay, so this is a band account or whatever.
[00:33:45] What is the exact word?
[00:33:46] Suspended.
[00:33:47] Suspended, not really birthday, it arrived. And while my son was at school, I tested out the console worked fantastic. I was happy with the deal I got. Well, it rolled around to my son's birthday. And I was excited to see his reaction to the Super Nintendo. He unwrapped it and laughed. Nice joke. Where's my this. This is just a bad gift. I don't think Cuz he did it out of out of love. He thought that this would be a good idea Sometimes you just give good bad gifts. I don't link anyone's an asshole I mean and he's a little kid cuz I thought I would be like oh you're an asshole for not liking the good But he's a kid so I'm like, I mean I was a kid and I hated my gifts and I was like what the fuck is this?
[00:36:22] Ghostbusters on Game Boy. Are you joking? Like what the fuck And they don't even think about it. For instance, like, when my middle child, when she was like, I think like nine or something like that, we had an iPad because you're like, Oh, you know, here, you can watch this when we're going trips, driving to Oklahoma or whatever, we're in the car for 19 hours. And you know, there's a little pouch in the back of the
[00:37:40] seat. Yeah. And so she's not even thinking, but it's sitting back there and she's back
[00:37:45] there just kicking the back in the seat. We're the wild. I've been 50 bucks. If I,
[00:39:03] you straighten out right now used used. these games you can play. If anything, it's really cool because I doubt any of his friends has a device like this, a nice little Chinese game boy.
[00:41:24] to be like, oh, here's my super Nintendo that I got whenever I was 12 years old. This console is
[00:41:28] three times my age. You know, like that's pretty cool.
[00:41:34] And I promise to be working. Yeah, if my parents gave me a super Nintendo for my birthday, I'd be like, yo, this is fucking sweet. I had a thing on display.
[00:41:39] Yeah, in a fucking cabinet, in a China cabinet, you know, pretty can identify that because like I, I sleep with a night mask, even though we have like blackout curtains and everything else. So you look like fucking sub zero in your head like forces me to close my eyes. Otherwise, like I'll just lay there with my eyes open if I, if I don't think about it. Yeah, dude, I will too. And then eventually you can see in the dark and I'm just like
[00:43:01] looking at the shadows just like they met, and then he runs at the TV, and then there's pictures where these videos of the dogs jumping back when that happens, getting scared. It's like the train coming up the camera. Yeah, but Molly's never been that way.
[00:44:22] She doesn't give a fuck about the TV.
[00:44:24] And so, I don't know.
[00:44:26] White noise is fine if it's like a graph. Like if he was like 16 and he
[00:45:43] did this, it would be even worse. Like if games were coming out on the switch that you know three years ago is this animal crossing? What was popping off? Animal crossing had already been out. I'm pretty sure. So I'm just trying to do maternal came out together, right? Yeah. And that was that was during the pandemic. And I was I was trying
[00:47:01] to figure out what game are these kids playing together? Because he sends us a video of someone like paragliding and getting caught in electric wires and dying I'm like, oh that is a I just saw a dead guy Great and so like it's that's what I'm like though but like when I when I see something like I'll watch like police footage a lot and Someone will be over and they'll be like whoa
[00:48:23] This is horrible you watch this all the time. I'm like I'm like yeah
[00:48:26] Is this weird? Like is it weird to watch this? That's sick AF. So this could be something that comes back around, but we'll see. With that, let's take a quick break and then we can hit the meet. Music plays. Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. Man, I slut, I fucking, I should have set an alarm and I knew I should have. Listen to how I was late for the show.
[00:49:40] I was like, I was like 40 minutes late.
[00:49:42] And it's wild because I went to he's probably going to, like his alarm is going to be set for, we're supposed to be at one o'clock. His alarm is going to go off at 10 minutes. So one, and then he's going to run to the bathroom and then he's going to jump on the computer and be like, all right, ready to
[00:51:01] start at one ten or so. So I'll go up there like 10 minutes before get all my crap set
[00:51:05] up and I'll be ready. I'm up here and I sit here until like one 15. I'm like, this is the worst year for male people everywhere. But not the worst year, but the worst part of the air. I mean, yeah, maybe we'll see. Yeah, we're back. So dear listener home, I've already recapped it before, but I said a goal for myself to complete a hundred games in my backlog. I have been documenting my backlog for the last like two years in a massive
[00:52:23] Google doc trying to basically play through all my old games. I'm going to make it for sure. It's like an achievement. Like if you're achievement hunting, you're like, what's the easy? 1000. I need to play Avatar last airbender. I need to play forever. Like you start going through the list of like, I can 1000 point this game in less than an hour. That's what I started doing. So this was actually not a very, I don't natural way to play games. It was very unnatural actually,
[00:53:41] because I had a list of all the artificial like game times is how long it's supposed on this list. Cyberpunk wasn't 100. No, Cyberpunk was 103. Son of a bitch. Well, what do you know? But I went through, I just looked through what your achievements think because you can see when you started games or you can see when you started games, but you can also see when you last got an achievement in it. And I just went through by memory. I was like, did I beat this?
[00:55:01] I beat this. And I did that for this year. And I did that for last already beaten before. So I don't know if those count, but I counted them anyway, because I did technically from start to finish beat them. So yeah, I mean, I don't think I did any gone back and replay anything this year. But I do have a specific section on my list of games, like come back and play this again later. Like this game
[00:56:20] deserves another play. So if we're just getting into the numbers about it, the average how not counting games like I want to play or games in like my emulator library or anything like that. And so in this year with me completing 103 games, that means that like 103 is 19 percent of my backlog, bringing bringing my full total of completed games up to 35 percent.
[00:57:41] So I thought of numbers. Yeah, there's a lot of numbers. That if I don't like it, I will try to finish the game. Yeah, if I'm looking through this, the games that I finished that were right at the lowest are almost unanimously games I completed for this podcast and everything else is high rating. Also looking back at it, like I put the doc in there if you wanted to see my 100 games
[00:59:03] to like the list that I completed, I'm looking at my highest Pig and audio's. I gave both of them a two. Oh, God. Yeah. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. And I'm not rating this by IG and scales. Like, we were here's not trash. I think that it's above average. I thought it was fine. I think five is like, I don't recommend this anymore. You know what I mean?
[01:00:20] Five is where my recommendation stops.
[01:00:22] But six has quality, like six is like,
[01:00:24] I have qualities that I could tell people
[01:00:26] that I would play.
[01:00:27] I would play playing them like, damn, this game is fucking sick. Like ghost wire Tokyo, mountain blade banner Lord DJ Max respect
[01:01:45] five heart shaped shipbreaker. It's crazy that I played went for games that had like a clear ending. So 20% of the games I played were platformers. I feel like that makes a lot of sense. That makes sense. And then the next big one is 14% were just adventure, which includes like pointing click and like walking simulators, which I went through quite a bit.
[01:03:00] What are the colors on here?
[01:03:02] What is the blue and the green and the red?
[01:03:05] Oh, well, seven games every year just from my birthday and Christmas
[01:04:25] like coming together. and three of them were games I already own. So really I complete or 26. So really I've only completed 23. It's just insane because like there's so many, like this isn't even talking about my want to playlist, games I want to play that I just don't own yet. Or the retro games I want to play because I have a retro emulator that I play all my old game board games on something. I want to play and complete those games too.
[01:05:42] Those games aren't on my backlog list
[01:05:44] despite me having them having access to them.
[01:05:47] There's all the games in the library. Yeah, I'm going back. I almost picked up Metal Gear Solid because you're playing it But I would have had to download it and I still have near automata downloaded So I was like, okay Well, this is the one then and I started playing it and I'm still not caught up to where the further I've tried to beat this game like four times and one time I got like eight hours in and then every other time I'll get to like two to three hours in and something will happen
[01:07:00] And then I just stopped playing and so I'm just now getting like about halfway to where I once was
[01:08:05] They're out there being debaucherous, like the children in Pinocchio.
[01:08:09] What's crazy is that like every time I ever went through that carnival, I've been past that point multiple times, but like I always fought everything.
[01:08:13] I remember there's a tank that shows up that you have to fight,
[01:08:15] but you can just not fight and walk through it.
[01:08:19] And then they bring it up.
[01:08:20] Like you get to the roller coaster that takes you to the boss fight
[01:08:24] and the 9S is like, hey, that tank looks of Us 2 got announced as a remaster and I went a little hard on Twitter. I apologize for people who, this is the thing is that when I'm making fun of The Last of Us 2, I'm not making fun of you, the person who likes The Last of Us 2, I'm just making fun of The Last of Us 2 and you guys, you guys got to separate that. I don't think anyone that listens to us thinks that I'm making fun of them or,
[01:09:43] and, and, the follows us on Twitter and is how awesome everything looks because I'm always looking around Like I got back to like I was doing the desert stuff That's where I started and then I got back to the city and I was I was just like man I just love it here. I love this dilapidated city and all you can see in all the buildings It's all empty and shit. It's been picked clean and I'm just like this is just so cool
[01:11:03] The trees everywhere. Hey, do you have any more major feelings on backlogs or on your backlog?
[01:12:05] Every single time I bring up the fact that I feel like Resident Evil 6 is just Resident Evil 5, but better in every single way, people lose their goddamn minds.
[01:12:09] People think I am literally insane.
[01:12:11] But I literally, every single aspect of Resident Evil 5,
[01:12:15] you can break it down into little fragments and then see exactly one to one how Resident Evil 6 does it better.
[01:12:21] And I feel like I just need to make an hour Yeah, they're both games that you can play Quake 2 we were here friendship starfield. I've gave an eight
[01:13:42] 75 I When I got to the end, I was feeling like, this has gone on for too long, you know what I mean? And then I was like, I'm just gonna watch Chris Chan, because this was during the Chris Chan saga, where I was like, I was like, I want episode 40 by this time. I was like, I'm just gonna watch Chris Chan and just pound out these missions. And like, I'm just not gonna think about it. But I beat Vampire Survivors and all the DLC, Cyberpunk, Phantom Liberty.
[01:15:01] I beat Cyberpunk for the second time,
[01:15:03] but Phantom Liberty just came out and I beat that.
[01:15:06] Resident Evil 4, The Remake, So as like a judge usually, yeah, we have to have, I think we need to have someone like that too. Because I got a lot of words and a lot of thoughts about this year. All right. Well, with that, what if we talk about next year a little bit? So I know like I'm not sure this episode will come out right after Thanksgiving, but we're already quickly approaching the year.
[01:16:20] Scheduling is getting really tough for us because I'm going to be traveling on vacation.
[01:16:24] Got all the kids deal with, Jan is going through all their schoolwork. I need to play that one. Highly recommended. Yes. I, I, you've got it. That game is long. So the game is really long. And when you think it's over, it's not over. You still got like fucking six hours left. Chapter two after 60 hours. I need to play that. I watched all the Pokemon sun and moon in Spanish because that was just something I was doing with my life because I'm bugging weird, I guess. And then it was I think it was like last Christmas or something like that. We're at work. No one is there except
[01:19:01] for like a cyber guy's just hanging out. Yeah, so for the last year I've been studying Japanese and I should have put together a document because I have like however many hundreds of hours
[01:20:20] I have working on this back long. I think I have like I
[01:20:23] log my study hours in
[01:21:25] actually help or maybe my studying alongside the games can help me push along. I don't know thoughts, feelings, or you're just going to bully me?
[01:21:27] No, I think that's pretty cool. I mean, I would like to play these games in Japanese.
[01:21:31] I feel like all I because I do have a random handle on Japanese just by proxy of putting
[01:21:37] 600 hours into Yakuza and they're all in Japanese. That's a lot of exposure.
[01:21:42] Yeah, well, I just hear things like I don's doing. So there's that. But also I have another sub-quest because that's going to be my goal for Japanese.
[01:23:01] Another thing I want to get into is I want to do some game development.
[01:24:06] the code from what's undertale, which was made in game maker. And it was basically one continuous string of code. And they're like, this guy had no fucking clue what he was doing
[01:24:11] whenever he like this guy's not a coder. Like, and what's the guys named Toby Fox or
[01:24:17] whatever? Yeah, I think he's got a record stating that he isn't a coder. He just wants
[01:24:22] to make games. And it's funny because like you don't have to be a badass a coating to
