[00:00:00] Hello and welcome to Gaming Together, a cooperative podcast.
[00:00:15] I'm your host, Philip, and I'm here with my co-op partner, Nave.
[00:00:17] Each pod we play through a cooperative experience then relay to you the listener if this game
[00:00:21] is a criminal, a crime of co-op, or something better off playing solo.
[00:00:24] Hey, Nave.
[00:00:25] Hello.
[00:00:26] I've been fucking it up all your money, all of us. Every podcast you ever interact with on the internet, you are required to give them $29
[00:01:41] of your paycheck.
[00:01:42] That's a lot.
[00:01:43] You listened to the show, therefore I guess it's a chain or maybe it's just a coincidence they just have the same name so that's where I ordered it from was literally in the next town over so did you not notice that your charge was probably like an extra 30 bucks for the mileage no it was the same amount as it normally was it was like 20 21 22 bucks yeah oh my
[00:03:00] god so I think what it is is that it the time I don't know it's like the the it's
[00:03:06] right on the highway so it's like good, dude. It's tough, but it's cool. You know, I feel like I have a kindred spirit in your ear because you always bring up these things like Slay the Spy or these indie games that are always so cheap. But I assume they have like hundreds of hours of gameplay. The dicey dungeons.
[00:04:20] That's how you stuff.
[00:04:23] And even with the gamer, I prove
[00:04:25] when we did that was the console draft. and really ridiculous, it really ridiculously hilariously animated kind of thing. Right? Like they did this one thing where they were playing like, you know, paper football, but instead they were playing it with quarters. And there was like this huge zoom out and it was all a 3D arena, like a PlayStation one game. And it zoomed around like this really long intro.
[00:05:40] And then as soon as it got closed,
[00:05:41] the first, the girl flipped it forward
[00:05:43] and it bounced off the other girls' thumb
[00:05:45] and hit her right in the chin.
[00:05:46] And then it was like, it skipped forward.
[00:05:48] It's like robot chicken almost, like quite a bit. I like it quite a bit. I like the aesthetic, I like all kinds of stuff, but it's the controls and the camera that really bug the living goddamn shit out of me because it's con- the camera's constantly getting caught on shit. The like you do the Dark Souls thing where you can lock on to enemies, but if- but sometimes the game just doesn't want to lock on, but unfortunately the same way you lock on to enemies is the way that you center
[00:07:04] the camera behind your character. Like it's a fucking PlayStation 2 game and so So I'm like just trying to beat the game before it spoiled for me even though Alan wake 2 came out I literally would held back. I was like I'm gonna buy on wake Oh, I'm like that fucking kid in the computer class like with the vape popping out. You already know that Nicole's dead Yeah, Nicole's dead Not gonna say what spoiler that's for but I sell your cell do a cell
[00:08:24] Oh, yeah Well, I mean I just beat signal us again before it left game pass It's gonna be gone out of game bass by the time you guys hear this episode. So unfortunately, I'm sorry I should have said it last week. I forgot
[00:09:41] And I also beat the sign our wild hearts again. I don't know why but I'm just replaying games that are comforting to me
[00:10:42] Game Pass I always tell people that
[00:10:47] It might not actually leave leave because sometimes the games leave for like a month and they pop back up
[00:10:54] And I find annoying because they don't auto add back to your want to play list and so I look at him like why is it? Why have I not played this game turns out it's just fell off my list
[00:10:58] Yeah, and that doesn't happen very often the only games I can remember doing that are the Yakuza games in Grand Theft Auto
[00:11:03] I think which are extremely different games everyone I
[00:12:02] I'm trying to make it my 100th game this year.
[00:12:04] So I'm trying not to aggressively play any other game.
[00:12:07] And I'm getting a lot of glitches.
[00:12:11] Like I'm finally understanding why everybody was dunking on this game so bad in the beginning, because if there was more glitches,
[00:12:14] you know, seven years ago when this game first came out,
[00:12:17] then I'm having now the game is probably unplayable.
[00:12:20] Like what kind of glitches are you getting?
[00:12:22] I've had two basically game breaking bugs.
[00:12:27] Well, like I wouldn't say, fucking idiot. Which I just got the smart gun augment, but I don't actually have a smart gun anymore because so that that adventure continues. So I have that one. I had another one where an NPC like walked into another one and dissolved. What the shirt wasn't you sure it wasn't
[00:13:41] a you sure it wasn't a figment, you know, like Johnny?
[00:13:44] No, because like, OK,, go to the game card, click like view game card in marketplace, then return back to the game and that will resolve the auto save. So you continue. That has happened
[00:15:02] to me like three or four times. What the fuck? Yeah, to highlight, like, I only have five hours and 46 minutes in the game. Yeah. True achievements. I don't know how true that is. Yeah, that pan stuff is pretty early. Yeah, so that means I have barely, I've only put in six hours of this game, but I've had like almost 10 separate glitches causing me to reboot the game. Like, that's not a good track record.
[00:16:21] It's incredible, because it's like you had this problem with Cyberpunk too,
[00:16:24] where you had the ODST glitch going on.
[00:16:26] Or Starfield, I don't know what I'm supposed to do here Do you think that maybe that's a thing because like in? There are some games that if you're not in the arena, the boss starts rapidly regenerating true Oh, yeah, so maybe that was the way they as I don't remember having a arena. She was like regenerating health. Oh, that's interesting
[00:17:40] Yeah, I don't really know if you scan her you can see that she's weak to electricity
[00:17:45] So maybe that's why I didn't never have the problem because both times I fought her I saw hammer the second time. Yeah. I just ran over and crapped it. I'm just gonna take this one. The problem is is that she's actually less dangerous with the hammer than she is with her gun. That she can shoot you from wherever at. She has a gun? She never pulled a gun on me. What? She's supposed to have a gun. No, she just pulls out her fist.
[00:19:01] Yeah.
[00:19:01] And she's like...
[00:19:02] I'm almost positive she has a gun. I don't remember it.
[00:19:05] Oh, maybe, maybe. I don't know the actual title. Battle boys. Vermintide two, Vermintide three. Battle born. And they've something happened when we were playing last night where you were being a big dick bag and shooting explosive barrels
[00:20:23] every time you walk by specifically our two teammates. You want to be that writer that may or may not have murdered his wife Yeah, I don't know if this games about that Wait, is it not a retelling or remake or remaster? No, they already but Alan like to is literally the second one So it's after the first one Okay, which is interesting because you're right I don't know it's like how do they change how where do they go from here? The first game had a very insular story?
[00:21:43] It was very self
[00:21:45] whatever Aaron, we had you go out and pick an AMI the asshole from our list. Link it in the chat so that we can click on it to make sure we're doing the right one. Here we go. I'm doing the, do we want to say it or do you want to? Sure. Do you want to read it? Here we go. First of all, what's called burner account check?
[00:23:01] Throw away smash two, three, four, two, three, two, four.
[00:23:05] Looks like a burner.
[00:23:06] Yeah.
[00:23:07] Oh, two years ago.
[00:23:08] Yeah. before it came up. It's in there somewhere. It's like the cool prize you get in a cereal box. You gotta just keep eating all that cereal. You'll find it eventually. All right, so do you wanna read this or would you prefer if we took this one? Oh man, I can read it. There we go. My boyfriend and I are competitive people and often play board games, video games, puzzles,
[00:24:20] et cetera, against each other.
[00:24:22] We're both in STEM fields,
[00:24:24] or yeah, and competing a lot of things.
[00:24:26] It's usually all the meta dude. She's going in. The question is I'm wondering if she's playing 64 or if she's playing melee. I don't know probably 64 right? She said cartridge right? Old console.
[00:25:40] Well he said old console not cartridge.
[00:25:42] Old console yeah.
[00:25:43] It's maybe we'll find more context clues here.
[00:25:47] He says old console yeah. Feel like it's like fiber like I think it was like Danny the five guy that plays the bass only It's like I hired five. Yes more players to beat me and smash on Yeah, this is great because I've definitely done this to Philip like Philip will be beating me in something and I will be on my phone
[00:27:04] Googling how to win games not saying anything just like oh, yeah, if you're so good I got it. Learning the game was hard but not that difficult compared to my boot camp. My coach would do an hour a day with me explaining things and give me stuff to practice on my own. I'd only do this during the day when my boyfriend was at work. I worked from home. Within weeks we were playing close matches and within a month I was beating him. I could tell he was getting more and more frustrated.
[00:28:20] He forced me to play until he won one or make excuses.
[00:28:25] Wait a minute, is this my ex? Oh my god Fucking all right. Oh, no, I'll save the judge for later I told him that this was just my personality and how I approach challenges and his ego should be able to handle losing He demands I apologize the refuses this place to mash with me anymore and it's extra annoying Anytime he beats me and other stuff we play together So read it and buy the asshole for secretly training and beating him dude
[00:29:40] I could definitely see how she beats him in a 1v1 inhaler. He's like, oh, did you fucking pay 20 bucks to fuck?
[00:30:47] She could never beat him. So she secretly trained for weeks, maybe months to get better than him and started beating his ass
[00:30:50] furiously and even gloated to him and
[00:30:56] She also spent money to do this. This is just like every single Dragon Ball Z saga
[00:31:00] Because like the other person doesn't know that they're trained It's not like cell didn't expect people to get nave where I'll make him one League of Legends and then like something I'll have you like on a view buffoon You complete it Just player He's way better than me. I'm just like fucking suffering
[00:32:20] So my fucking my favorite bit was the one where like he forced me to play until he won one
[00:33:24] He paid to do this, but again, like I said earlier, he opened the door for this, and he needs this little humble sandwich or whatever the fuck it's called.
[00:33:28] He needed this.
[00:33:30] Maybe he'll think, because maybe next time it'll be someone way more aggressive, somebody
[00:33:34] not his girlfriend that's going to take this challenge of him talking shit and then losing.
[00:33:39] This is in all kinds of movies, like basketball movies where the bully is beating you, and
[00:33:44] then you train to get better, and then you beat the bully, and now you're on the team
[00:33:47] or all like that. Yeah. Obviously, I'm going to go to those ones. Dude, you know, it's hilarious. Speaking of doing things over again that just comfort me, I literally restarted Dungeons and Daddies again, so I've just been listening to it again. And I just listened to the episode where they met the library. And I'm just like, dude, this show is so fucking funny, man.
[00:35:01] Everyone needs to go listen to Dungeons and Daddies.
[00:35:03] Yes, it's much better than our show.
[00:35:06] And it's in chronological order.
[00:35:07] So you got to start from the first episode.
[00:36:04] they're not calling the Wii their old system, but they might be referring to that but
[00:36:11] If they're playing on I don't know is no the Wii online doesn't work anymore. It can't be that
[00:36:14] Well, this is two years ago. Oh
[00:36:16] You're right. It might still been on back then
[00:36:23] But like it'd be one thing if if she was just like yeah watching YouTube videos or like yeah Or just playing the game a bunch doing the tutorial. She liked that be a pan paying it dude
[00:37:22] Is wave canceling and shit or whatever
[00:37:26] All across the map and back like god
[00:37:33] Have you seen those like where people just are going way fast on melee dude I fucking
[00:37:39] I don't remember what podcast this was but they were arguing that they were having they were in a huge heated argument that
[00:39:03] Smash Brothers is faster than Marvel versus Capcom basically I'm sorry. This is that a you give statement. No. Yeah. Well, it's an official rule that you can't stink or you'll be disqualified from the tournament And you give that's cool. Thank God That's psychological warfare chemical warfare Geneva convention shit man Yeah, they have one motherf your mouth and like you just look like you roll out of bed But you look like a fucking Dark Souls Blighttown Is beat to death bullet like for your fucking blood and or pizza sauce stains all over your fucking shirt
[00:40:24] You don't have any pants. They don't own pants
[00:40:26] God, speak of your sauce Done the the pay for the training. I think it would have been fine. She would have got to the same skill level It would have taken longer Because obviously she would have improved but I feel like going against him is enough to at least meet his level Like I remember back whenever like I used to do honor guard where you would you know
[00:41:40] Do funerals for military members and I did that for like a year
[00:42:45] a fucking casual format, but he would crush the shit out of us. And I was like, I vow that I will be a fucking equal to you. And I eventually did start getting way better.
[00:42:50] I like learn how to evaluate cards way better. Like, because I would constantly be like,
[00:42:54] dude, what is wrong with my decks? He'd be like, this card's trash, this card's trash,
[00:42:57] this card's trash, this card's trash. And I'd be like, why? And I'm like watching like,
[00:43:01] what the fuck? Eventually I had to learn. You know what I mean? Eventually I understood,
[00:43:05] oh, there's a mana's he's he had to be
[00:45:25] never let the smaller rats win, the smaller rats would stop engaging and play with them. They wouldn't play because they realized that they couldn't win.
[00:45:29] And they realized that other rats who were nicer, who would let the smaller rats pin
[00:45:32] them every now and then, they would more often get challenged to play games together and
[00:45:38] they would be socialized a lot better.
[00:45:39] So I think that that is kind of an interesting...
[00:45:42] That's something that I always thought about whenever I would think about magic.
[00:45:45] Like how to keep my friends around.
[00:45:47] Are we anti-social?
[00:45:48] Yeah. I can find some some deeper cuts than the ones already have That'd probably be nice because you never know what people are into when we invite them onto the show like so they might see Of the fucking Pathfinder and by the asshole go Me and Philip are just confused the whole time
[00:48:22] Kingmaker Kingslayer, yeah, I was like, oh my God. He's a bum to see Mike, but no, my cats like he's a big fat boy. Where's he? Mr. Come here. So like, do you listen or you can't see, but I'm holding it. I'm doing it. Oh, he's a big boy. He will go up to the door. He'll just like try to get in and then he'll rear up and just go. Yeah, you're just like punch the door open.
[00:48:25] He's like, I don't know, my door is slightly off. So you hit it hard enough in of the week, radiant silver gun developed by treasure who did a Karuga. I think I spelled that wrong in the notes and also published by multiple people originally by treasure for the arcade cabinet and then by ESP whenever we went on the Saturn.
[00:49:40] And that's where it was only released in Japan.
[00:49:43] This one didn't make it to the fuck up. I'm sorry. Go ahead. Store description. It's July 14, 25, 20 A.D. The light emitted by a stone like object excavated from the strata of B.C.
[00:51:00] Invelled the Earth, destroying the human race.
[00:51:02] Only the four crew members of the space cruiser Tetra,
[00:52:07] I have any history. I got this in games for gold as a 360 arcade title for free when Microsoft just gave it away. And I thought I was going to beat it for my hundred games this year.
[00:52:10] Turns out it's really hard, but it checks your game time in the game and you can see how many attempts you have.
[00:52:16] And I have played 14 hours of this and I have 47 attempts on the story mode and still have not beat it.
[00:52:26] It's a tough bit more precise. Yeah, it's a little bit more precise on the beatpad. Yeah, it's a little bit more precise on the beatpad. Yeah, it's a little bit more precise on the beatpad. Yeah, it's a little bit more precise on the beatpad. Aaron, what about you? History preconceptions from the series? I know you guys cover a lot of older games, older than the Wii, hopefully, on your pod. Yeah.
[00:53:40] I've known about Raidy and Silvergun for a while now,
[00:53:42] but I didn't start playing it until, yeah,
[00:53:44] I came out with Games for Gold, and I played it a little bit.
[00:53:46] And, yeah, it's tough we're just flying along. There's little windows popping up.
[00:55:01] People are speaking Japanese to you little anime characters,
[00:55:04] but they speak so fast.
[00:55:05] It just sounds like the blah, blah, blah, blah, let's talk about how far we played because I made it I saw like five bosses I made it like 15 bosses deep into this game and I could not beat it no matter how many times I tried And there's no continues. It's just you can continue with this upgraded love like weapon levels when you're playing single-player And that makes the game much easier whenever you're firing way more bullets
[00:56:22] What stopped me and nave was you start from level one guns and everything and you don't know. But so the only thing that I would say also is that whenever you play multiplayer, one person's red, one person's blue, but I never committed that to memory. And so I was always just like, I'm on the right, because that's where my health bar is and score and stuff, or whatever it is. And then it was, or that's not a health bar. It's like your energy to you for your super.
[00:57:40] And I was like, okay, if I'm if the ship is on the right, that's me.
[00:57:43] So I'm always scanning like the top, and then I've only made it to the the big circle guy about like five minutes and I made it to that died and I Couldn't could beat that guy
[00:59:04] It's weird I played a lot of shmups. Oh, I'm not like the best at shmups But a ship, but he's not. Like that past writ the fuck bummer and what are you talking about? That is a feature of these bullet hell games. Like that's, I learned about that and that, do you remember that one game with the little anime girls, the robot game? When we first had the 360s, it was my profile picture
[01:00:20] forever because my friend was like, would you,
[01:00:23] if you got to make one of those your profile pictures
[01:00:25] or until you beat the game and I never beat the game.
[01:00:27] So it was just my profile picture forever. Fucking hard to memorize weapons all the time as you're like, oh I can do the most damage with my front blaster now I've not lined up so I need to use my homing bullets But I also got to switch to my sword and so you're just always cycling through each of the buttons Like you get really fast at that. Yep, that's fucking it's it's crazy It's a it's a really awesome game though
[01:01:43] Yeah, I really enjoyed it. Um,'re even I guess a little bit more forgiving on modern consoles too because you just have that but one button for Inserting fucking coins or whatever. So so yeah, you have as many fucking credits not add credits in this one though
[01:03:05] Oh, yeah, that's right
[01:03:07] I thought it doesn't have that feature I'm not making any of this up here. Yeah, every name is made up, Philip. Dude, so many of the Yu-Gi-Oh characters are so weird because it's like penguin knight and beaver soldier. And then it's soul relinquisher, destroyer of the sands. And then you have Giga Gao. Yeah, and then you have bat.
[01:04:22] They get a lot fucking cooler, though, like
[01:04:24] these are just lizards. X say we'll load. I watched it on X. I mean Twitter. I mean Twitter. Oh, I give up. I assume it was excellent. It could work. Nave. Yeah, that was not the new Spider-Man. And what it is is so there's a clip of spite. It's a really funny clip where you fail a quick time event and Spider-Man jumps off of a
[01:05:40] ledge and he's trying to save a lady strapped to a bomb. But if you miss the quick time and he literally just belly flops onto the
[01:05:45] concrete and then he goes, oh no. And then they blow up.
[01:06:44] whatever that show is. And it was a Halloween special. And one of the cakes they set up was like a lady. And she was
[01:06:47] screaming and like holding a skull or something like that.
[01:06:50] And then they had water drip down on her face and it melted
[01:06:55] her face. Oh, that was she was holding like a something weird
[01:06:59] that wasn't scary. And then it melted into a skull after the
[01:07:02] water drip down it. So they're like it was That reminds me of uh What the fuck I think yeah the darkness there's a TV I forget where the fuck it is in the game But in the game the darkness there's there's like this TV
[01:08:23] Well, you can just go watch it Steven universe Post a lot of his cat you like an R. So he posts on the R slash McDonald's Ready user He's been using this in 2015 so he he loves his reddit so this is a this is a full-on post
[01:09:44] Am I the asshole for taking the pepperoni directly into the trash or did he offer to give it to somebody? Yeah, that's what I was wondering about too He doesn't say if he's throwing it away Exactly some people are suggesting that just like put it on the box someone else will grab it In the box yeah, what a fucking that's free that's free pepperonis
[01:12:02] changed man what was I doing four years ago man I don't even know I mean I guess
[01:12:07] I was playing smite like every night
[01:12:10] like a fucking loser my life didn't
[01:12:13] exist four years ago because I I don't
[01:12:15] have online content before then yeah
[01:12:17] that's true all right yeah I think that
[01:12:23] pretty much covers everything let's take
[01:12:25] a break and we get top meat, but you don't get top bun in the bite.
[01:13:41] And you're like, oh, no, now I'm completely out of whack.
[01:13:44] All the condoms destroyed.
[01:13:46] The other con is spread out.
[01:13:47] Yeah. of the burrito are are objectively the worst because that's where the burrito is folded the most so unless you just love tortilla just like fucking rip in the middle and then eat it and if I'm still hungry by the time I get to the edge I eat the crust you know what I mean will put down a burger that has not been finished. And like, so I'm going to take like two bites and put it down and then get a drink or something like that. Like I will literally just sit there and eat a whole burger in one go because I sit it down, it'll fall over or it'll get this compadulated a little or if it's a burrito, the the goop
[01:16:22] will the insides will leak out a little bit.
[01:16:25] And then I'm like, now the balance is off.
[01:16:27] Like now I can't. You know One hamburger one hand coke. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, that's me but Radiance silver gun final words. I'm going to recommend this this game is probably like things like nine dollars on switch and steam That's probably the preferred way to play it. I feel this could be a great switch game to go the screen might be small but the game is already played in a
[01:17:42] Like a I don't know like a three four aspect ratio or no it's more than that. It's like a square
[01:18:46] And I found with shmups to the D pad is usually the best way to go because you can do those like little tiny like little micro
[01:18:49] movements that you really can't with an analog stick because
[01:18:52] We'll tap dodges here and there are the way to go
[01:18:58] Yeah, I just not give a fuck about digital D pads or whatever until I've been watching so many
[01:19:04] Like retro game channels and stuff like that or just like reviews on old controllers I even said like a screenshot of some dukie Microsoft controllers that I found that a good will
[01:20:04] But only as like a like the the feedback that you get when you push it in you get that click It's like oh, yeah chunky, but then in practice when you're playing it is not good. You're like, oh, wait a minute
[01:20:10] This is actually very cumbersome. Yeah, I make it like that. What were they thinking?
[01:20:14] Probably they weren't playing games when they designed it and they're like this feels really good
[01:20:18] And then because it's like if you design a keyboard you're not thinking about playing games, right?
[01:20:23] And it normally doesn't matter because they're it's a different like hand position I wish this game had couch co-op because then yeah a game changer because I'm gonna be yelling at my kids like you died I'm world one more. No, you kidding me Yeah But then it would be like heavy weapon Because heavy weapon has because heavy weapon is the same problem where you can play online be able to start from level zero and With no weapons upgraded, but if you play it local you can continue to upgrade your weapons throughout the entire campaign
[01:21:40] So yeah, I wish it had that like if we could okay? And I'm like, my little spaceship blew up. Dude, the thing is that it's the bullshit design philosophy of an arcade game. It's that third level where the walls are super close together. We would die, we would like lose one life
[01:23:01] for the whole first two levels,
[01:23:02] and then we get to that third level with the walls
[01:23:04] and die like six times.
[01:23:05] And it's like, this is. I was expecting you to be a total fucking nerd and no war hammer in literally every other aspect. I feel like I know I know a lot of video game shit. The war hammer is just like so far out of my fucking scope. Dude, I was streaming this game for somebody and at the very beginning there's this speech
[01:24:23] where they're like, we are warriors or something is that everyone's fucking pieces of shit. Like, so there's no real good. It's like always sunny. You know what I mean? Like everyone's a piece of shit in that show. So like, that's why it's entertaining. I don't know. Warhammer is so
[01:25:41] weird because I know nothing about it, even though I've played so many games, but this is
[01:25:45] a universe where every time I play a game, I'm like, why don't really have a computer. I don't know if I'm gonna be able to run Warhammer 3 for fucking war All right. So we'll be doing that next week I think we're gonna try to get JP and for our resident war hammer expert and we can Play some of that. Yeah with that Aaron. I want to thank you for coming out to the pod
[01:27:01] Absolutely. It's always great to see nave and his his natural habitat thriving
