[00:00:00] Hey guys, on this episode of Gaming and Collecting, me and Alex are doing another edition of our The Games That Shaped Us series. This time we're talking about Pokemon Black and White, going over some of our favorite moments from the series and just kind of going over the games, the game itself. Other than that though guys, on with the intro music.
[00:00:21] My question. What is a pod?
[00:00:43] How you been?
[00:00:45] What is a pod? You gotta answer my question.
[00:00:48] It's a device that you sleep in, I don't know.
[00:00:52] So you said we were about to pod, so we're about to go to bed? Is that what you talked about?
[00:00:58] That's you most podcasts, let's be real.
[00:01:04] Oh sorry. That was like a cough, but then it also kind of just turned into a little barbie.
[00:01:12] Lovely. Anyways, so...
[00:01:16] I can't remember.
[00:01:19] Um...
[00:01:20] All it sounded, it just sounded like the normal noise you make, so...
[00:01:24] Oh, it did? Okay.
[00:01:25] Well, it was like, I'm on top, I was like...
[00:01:28] It just sounded like you going, eh.
[00:01:31] Alright, that's probably fine then.
[00:01:35] Uh...
[00:01:35] How have you been?
[00:01:37] I almost got run off the road this morning, that was fun.
[00:01:40] That's just a normal day.
[00:01:42] Well, this one was particularly obnoxious because like, I was there, the guy saw me, like, kind of like did like one of those like he started coming over and then like went back.
[00:01:53] And then he just said, fuck it and started going anyways.
[00:01:56] And I was like, are you serious?
[00:01:58] Oh my God.
[00:02:00] Yeah.
[00:02:00] People be crazy.
[00:02:02] Was that getting on the highway or is it getting off the highway?
[00:02:05] That was just about getting off before I got into work.
[00:02:10] Oh.
[00:02:10] Like right at the end.
[00:02:11] I was like, what the hell?
[00:02:13] Sounds about right.
[00:02:15] Yeah.
[00:02:17] So that's how my day started.
[00:02:20] Yeah.
[00:02:21] No.
[00:02:22] My day...
[00:02:22] This week of work has been shit.
[00:02:25] Last week is fine.
[00:02:26] It was getting a little better and it just says then terrible this week.
[00:02:31] Just dealing with people.
[00:02:32] Um, dealing with crap.
[00:02:36] Just unrealistic expectations.
[00:02:39] Like, it's nuts.
[00:02:41] So.
[00:02:42] Sounds like most businesses.
[00:02:44] That's why I popped the stress ball.
[00:02:47] Yeah.
[00:02:48] And I'm about to pop this one too.
[00:02:51] Um, yeah.
[00:02:53] So, so Amazon, I have a, I have an Amazon story for today.
[00:02:57] Oh God.
[00:02:58] What did you do this time?
[00:02:59] Um, what, what did you do to the Amazon that makes them hate you and not?
[00:03:04] No, this isn't even, this isn't even just me.
[00:03:07] This is just, this guy sucked.
[00:03:11] So I got a message from Amazon basically saying your package has been delivered.
[00:03:15] And I looked at the picture.
[00:03:16] I was like, okay, there's a package in my door.
[00:03:17] That's, that's nice.
[00:03:18] So I was downstairs working out.
[00:03:20] I'm like, okay, I'll go grab that after I'm done.
[00:03:22] Yeah.
[00:03:22] As I'm working out, I get a text from my neighbor saying, um, she accidentally got my
[00:03:28] package and, um, she was said she was going to drop it off in the morning after when she
[00:03:33] leaves for work.
[00:03:34] And that she said, the reason it's open is because she accidentally opened it because she
[00:03:37] thought it was hers.
[00:03:37] And I said, all right, that's fine.
[00:03:39] Other than now she knows I'm a weave, but that's besides the point.
[00:03:42] Um, but then it hits me.
[00:03:43] I'm like, then whose package do I have?
[00:03:46] Oh, so then I'm wondering, okay, maybe they just mixed up our houses again.
[00:03:50] I go up to the thing and I, I pull up the package.
[00:03:53] It's a, not even one of our houses.
[00:03:55] It's a completely different house.
[00:03:56] Oh, really?
[00:03:58] Yeah.
[00:03:58] So this, this Amazon driver just sucks.
[00:04:00] When was this?
[00:04:01] Because like, I'm not kidding.
[00:04:03] The other night I got a package at my door and I eventually got my package, but I, I
[00:04:08] brought it in the house.
[00:04:09] And then I looked at the, I looked at, I was like, what is this?
[00:04:12] Like, I don't remember ordering.
[00:04:13] It had a fragile sticker on it.
[00:04:15] I was like, I purchased two t-shirts for like a gift I'm giving someone.
[00:04:20] And, um, I looked at, I was just like, what is like, why would they put fragile on t-shirts?
[00:04:25] And I look at it and I said, oh, it was my neighbor.
[00:04:27] So I like, I dropped it off of my neighbor.
[00:04:29] But then as I was walking back, the Amazon man's like, what house is this?
[00:04:34] And I was like, this is 203.
[00:04:35] He's like, oh, here's your package.
[00:04:37] So then I got my package, but maybe I know someone messed up and put the wrong package
[00:04:42] at my house.
[00:04:43] So I don't know if it was the same person or something, but yeah, they just don't even
[00:04:48] look like, well, I think right now it also might be, it's the holiday time.
[00:04:53] So they bring on a lot of extra staff, like temp staff for the holidays.
[00:04:57] So it might just be, these are some seasonal people who don't usually deliver in our area
[00:05:01] and are just delivering and they don't really like, no, it's probably a little bit of that.
[00:05:07] Yeah.
[00:05:08] Because it can be confusing.
[00:05:10] Not all the numbers are very clear.
[00:05:12] So.
[00:05:15] Yeah.
[00:05:16] These two houses just aren't even close though.
[00:05:18] So honestly.
[00:05:20] No, I've gotten weird numbers before.
[00:05:23] So.
[00:05:24] Yeah.
[00:05:25] So I'm like, that's great.
[00:05:26] So now I've got to go find whose house this is in the morning and just drop it off before
[00:05:29] I leave for work.
[00:05:31] Yeah.
[00:05:32] Well, what street is it?
[00:05:34] Is it still your street?
[00:05:35] It's my, it's my street.
[00:05:36] It's just someone else's house, like way down towards the end.
[00:05:39] And I'm like.
[00:05:40] Like.
[00:05:41] It was the same thing that happened to me.
[00:05:42] So.
[00:05:44] Yeah.
[00:05:45] But this is like screwing up four different houses and like.
[00:05:48] Yeah.
[00:05:49] Especially like.
[00:05:50] It's that time of the year.
[00:05:51] They got the, you know, temporary seasonal employees and then.
[00:05:55] Yeah.
[00:05:56] I've been putting my light on so they can see my number, but like, I guess that they just
[00:06:00] don't pay attention.
[00:06:00] So.
[00:06:02] Well, it, it gets confusing.
[00:06:05] Yeah.
[00:06:06] You're used to it, but imagine you come into this place as someone who doesn't live around
[00:06:10] here.
[00:06:11] It could probably be confusing.
[00:06:13] You see, I wouldn't last as an Amazon driver because I would get fired for being too slow
[00:06:19] because I would go out of my way to make sure everything was right.
[00:06:22] Well, yeah, it's probably a little bit of that too, but it's the time of the year.
[00:06:27] Well, any other stories?
[00:06:30] No, that was about it.
[00:06:31] Like.
[00:06:32] You visited Miss Dingle.
[00:06:35] Yeah.
[00:06:35] And she's an ungrateful cat.
[00:06:37] She's mean and ungrateful.
[00:06:39] She's not mean.
[00:06:40] She's just.
[00:06:42] Bitchy.
[00:06:44] I like went to go feed her and then I like went to go pet her while I was like putting
[00:06:49] the food down.
[00:06:49] She runs off and then just yells at me from across the room.
[00:06:52] And I'm just like, I'm like you jerk.
[00:06:54] Like I wanted to just put the food on the sink and be like no food for you.
[00:06:58] No, that'd be so mean.
[00:07:00] It's not like she.
[00:07:01] It's not like she she'll she'll die.
[00:07:03] I mean, she could.
[00:07:05] She does have some blubber.
[00:07:08] She you know, I catch her doing recently.
[00:07:10] I don't know.
[00:07:10] I might have to get her a new food bowl, but like she takes her food.
[00:07:16] I saw her doing it earlier today.
[00:07:18] She'll take it.
[00:07:19] She puts her pot in it and she throws it on the ground.
[00:07:23] Not kidding.
[00:07:25] I like looked at my floors like what the fuck is all over the floor.
[00:07:28] It's covered in food because she throws it and licks it off the floor.
[00:07:32] So I think I got to get her a little lower bowl because she's a pig.
[00:07:40] She's like, she's like caveman.
[00:07:42] Like, oh, no.
[00:07:46] I literally saw her take your fucking pot.
[00:07:48] She goes the best.
[00:07:49] She goes like this.
[00:07:50] She goes like it like taps it and then eventually just gets it.
[00:07:55] And then.
[00:07:58] So I got to get her a new food bowl this weekend.
[00:08:01] Oh, your cat is very special.
[00:08:05] She's she's the she's odd cat.
[00:08:08] Like you're like struggling to be like you're struggling not to say she's the worst.
[00:08:14] So I love her.
[00:08:16] Well, the other day, too, I had gone into work late because I was doing the trainings.
[00:08:20] So I slept in a little bit and she didn't like that.
[00:08:23] She jumped right on my stomach.
[00:08:25] And I was like, oh, like that was how I woke up in the morning.
[00:08:28] I'm kidding me.
[00:08:29] Are you kidding me?
[00:08:31] Um, yeah, she she's a joy.
[00:08:34] We'll just go with that.
[00:08:35] She's a joy to have.
[00:08:37] Would I have her any other way?
[00:08:40] Maybe, but I can't change her.
[00:08:43] So I'm like, can I get a new one?
[00:08:46] This one's broken.
[00:08:47] It is.
[00:08:49] It's Jim mats.
[00:08:50] It eats everything, everything.
[00:08:53] It eats my holiday decoration.
[00:08:55] She had had really gone for the tree, though.
[00:08:58] So I'll take it.
[00:09:00] She'll smack the ornaments.
[00:09:02] And honestly, I'll take that over eating the tree, eating the tree.
[00:09:05] So we'll go with it.
[00:09:08] But she's something.
[00:09:10] Anything you've been watching recently?
[00:09:14] Um, well, we finished Oshinoko.
[00:09:16] Yes.
[00:09:18] Oh, and I'm my coworker watched it.
[00:09:20] And this is this is spoilers for anyone who hasn't seen season one.
[00:09:24] This was his words.
[00:09:25] He's like, oh, she's making me watch an idol show.
[00:09:29] Okay.
[00:09:30] And he's like, oh, he's making me.
[00:09:32] She's making me watching.
[00:09:33] I love an idol becoming a parent.
[00:09:35] Oh, the doctor's dead.
[00:09:38] All right.
[00:09:38] There's murder now.
[00:09:39] Oh, it's about kids growing up.
[00:09:42] And then he goes, oh, she's dead.
[00:09:45] Oh, and he's like, oh, it's a high school now.
[00:09:48] And he was like, I had no idea where you were taking me.
[00:09:50] But I am in.
[00:09:52] So that first that first episode is a doozy.
[00:09:56] Oh, yeah.
[00:09:57] No, I told him, like, just be prepared.
[00:09:59] I'm not going to tell you anything about it.
[00:10:02] But it's not going to go where you think it's going to go.
[00:10:04] Oh, no.
[00:10:06] And then like, then then once you get to where the actual show starts, you still don't really know where it's going to go.
[00:10:12] Exactly.
[00:10:13] So I made him watch it.
[00:10:15] So and he's hooked now.
[00:10:16] I also got him watching Black Clover, too.
[00:10:18] And he's also hooked on that.
[00:10:20] He just got to the part with the where they're in the tournament, like to join the Royal Knights.
[00:10:27] Yeah.
[00:10:28] So I told my favorite character is coming up.
[00:10:32] Mariliona.
[00:10:33] It's not.
[00:10:34] Haha.
[00:10:35] No, he's no one's favorite character.
[00:10:39] Oh, yes.
[00:10:40] Mariliona's coming up.
[00:10:41] So hopefully I'll watch that soon.
[00:10:45] But what?
[00:10:46] So you watched Oshinoko anything else?
[00:10:49] I finished Konosuba.
[00:10:51] So that's now out of the way.
[00:10:53] Yes.
[00:10:53] You told me that it's on my list now.
[00:10:55] I'll watch it eventually.
[00:10:57] That's actually the that's the book that my neighbor saw.
[00:11:01] So really?
[00:11:02] Yes.
[00:11:03] She's a degenerate.
[00:11:04] Now she knows I'm a weeb.
[00:11:06] And I'm just like, OK, I'm not even going to question it.
[00:11:08] I'm just like, yeah, I like Japanese stuff.
[00:11:10] You know.
[00:11:11] Well, after Oshinoko, I watched I watched Burn the Witch was just in that was just a three episode show.
[00:11:18] And then I watched Science fell in love.
[00:11:21] So I tried to prove it.
[00:11:22] And that one was OK.
[00:11:23] Just kept giving me a headache.
[00:11:25] So I couldn't watch season two.
[00:11:27] Then I watched a Mononoke, which that was actually pretty cool.
[00:11:31] Had a really it was like ghost stories, spooky and had a really unique art style.
[00:11:36] So I watched that.
[00:11:38] And then then I watched Wonder Egg Priority.
[00:11:43] Which the title alone, I had no idea what I was in for.
[00:11:49] And I was like, wow, depression.
[00:11:52] Yeah.
[00:11:53] Lots of that show was a lot more depressing than I thought it was going to be.
[00:11:56] And I was like, damn.
[00:11:58] I saw.
[00:11:59] I saw.
[00:11:59] Oh, go on.
[00:12:00] I had two more.
[00:12:03] Keep going.
[00:12:05] And then I watched Kakushigoto, which is the one I was telling you about before the podcast.
[00:12:11] And then I just started watching No Longer Allowed in Another World, which is it's an Isekai show making fun of Isekais.
[00:12:20] But this one's actually like its own genre now.
[00:12:23] Just self-aware.
[00:12:24] I was like, I'm sure I was.
[00:12:25] But this one, I actually thought was pretty funny because the main character like literally it wasn't like he was just running like and like got hit by a truck and got sent to the magical world.
[00:12:37] He was committing suicide with his partner and they're by a river and they're going to drown themselves.
[00:12:44] And suddenly a truck just appears out of nowhere, kills them.
[00:12:49] And then he gets Isekai to the world and this little elf girl is like, you've been sent to another world to be an adventurer.
[00:12:57] And he's just like, he pulls out a bottle of pills and just tries to kill himself in the first like five minutes.
[00:13:07] And then he's like, what?
[00:13:10] That's not as extreme as Kono Suva's, but that is pretty up there for like, what the fuck?
[00:13:15] Well, actually, you know, the vending machine was pretty, pretty bizarre, too.
[00:13:19] Well, and like, so this one, it seems like the premise is going of like, it's the like, I don't want to be an adventurer.
[00:13:26] I just want to die guy who's just constantly like, because he wins a fight because basically he's been eating all these pills.
[00:13:34] Like he's been taking all the pills constantly, even though he didn't overdose this time, but he's still just taking them occasionally.
[00:13:42] So he's just constantly poisoning himself.
[00:13:44] So one of the monsters was like an energy absorbing monster and he lets it get him.
[00:13:49] He's like, oh, yes, the sweet embrace of death.
[00:13:51] I'm here for it.
[00:13:52] And then the truth, the monster just dies because it sucked up all the poison he was eating.
[00:13:59] So I only watched the first episode, but I'm already pretty hooked on it.
[00:14:03] It was pretty funny.
[00:14:05] Nice.
[00:14:08] So I saw a thing that was really funny to me.
[00:14:10] You know how like AI is kind of just getting ridiculous now?
[00:14:14] Yes.
[00:14:15] Well, I'm pretty against it for the most part.
[00:14:18] Like I like I'm okay with it if it's used like in a technical sense, like to improve something or to like fix something like that.
[00:14:25] That can't be fixed normally.
[00:14:27] I'm not so much into AI when it's used creatively because I don't think it's I don't think AI is particularly creative.
[00:14:32] Well, I think it's how you do it creatively because I use it actually at work sometimes.
[00:14:36] Well, no, no, I don't mean I mean when it's legit just doing everything.
[00:14:41] Well, like, well, it doesn't do everything.
[00:14:43] I mean, like I because I mean like sometimes like when you get like people that are just making art.
[00:14:49] Oh, yeah, yeah.
[00:14:50] Well, because I use it for I use Excel a lot.
[00:14:54] And I use a lot of VBA, which is the coding behind Excel and you can make that.
[00:14:59] That's more the tech.
[00:15:00] That's more the technical aspect of it.
[00:15:02] Yeah, but I use it to like help me all like read.
[00:15:05] I'll like search into like chat GBT and I'll be like, hey, can you write me a macro to be able to do this in Excel and like calculate it automatically.
[00:15:14] And then it does I do that.
[00:15:18] Yeah, that's that's like the technical aspect.
[00:15:20] That's fine.
[00:15:21] Like, I don't have any problem with that.
[00:15:22] It's more like when it's like drawing pictures and like making.
[00:15:25] I like when it's like, well, those curse cat videos I send you.
[00:15:29] Well, remember, I sent you those for a good.
[00:15:31] I was getting a lot of those, which the ones like the cats shitting their pay.
[00:15:35] I mean, as long as it's not something that's not used for monetary gain, I can ignore it.
[00:15:41] But yeah, but anyways, where I'm getting with this is I saw a thing that really made me laugh.
[00:15:50] Like, so I've seen a lot of, you know, the new Linkin Park album came out.
[00:15:56] Yes, I listen to it.
[00:15:58] I never will.
[00:16:00] Well, you might want to listen to this new version I found.
[00:16:02] Oh, boy, you probably won't.
[00:16:04] But it's so an A.I. chest shirt.
[00:16:06] Oh, yeah.
[00:16:06] Yeah. People are A.I. chest during like the songs don't like that either because no, I don't either.
[00:16:12] I just think it's I just think it's kind of funny.
[00:16:14] I'm like, wow, against the new.
[00:16:17] Well, that's that's where it gets funny, because.
[00:16:21] Because of the fact that they've been doing this, she got really offended and was bitching about it online.
[00:16:27] And I'm just like, oh, you know, all that's going to happen is now there's going to be twice as many.
[00:16:34] She she was like, I didn't look the bear in the bear being your fan base that's already on edge.
[00:16:40] Don't poke them.
[00:16:42] She could have had the argument if she had just gone into it saying this is like this is disrespectful to Chester, which she partially did.
[00:16:49] But then she also was said it was disrespectful towards me and kind of like made it a me me me situation.
[00:16:55] Which you just left it at this is disrespectful to Chester.
[00:16:58] It probably would have been fine, regardless of if she felt, you know, it was disrespectful to her, too.
[00:17:03] If she just said the Chester part, she probably would have been fine.
[00:17:06] Yeah. Also, if you just or if she just ignored it, it would eventually die off because.
[00:17:10] Oh, yeah.
[00:17:11] Bored of that once the album cycles over.
[00:17:14] Also. Yeah, that that's the truth, too.
[00:17:16] And like also, I mean, I won't lie like you listen.
[00:17:20] Maybe they've gotten better, but whenever I listen to the A.I. covers, they usually don't sound great.
[00:17:25] So I don't know. The Squidward ones are great.
[00:17:28] Well, yeah, those those are great. Those are great.
[00:17:31] Or the Gary the snail ones.
[00:17:33] Those are my shit.
[00:17:34] Any that are just stupid like that.
[00:17:36] I'm fine with.
[00:17:37] Oh, Cartman.
[00:17:38] Cartman has some good ones.
[00:17:40] Those ones aren't really good.
[00:17:41] I'm not going to lie.
[00:17:43] I love when they're garbage, but they're all garbage.
[00:17:47] But the Squidward ones are.
[00:17:49] I just got a just got a chuckle out of that.
[00:17:51] I'm like, I'm like, this is something the Internet would do.
[00:17:53] And I'm like, oh, no, don't complain.
[00:17:55] You're just going to make them make more.
[00:17:57] Exactly. Like, don't complain on it.
[00:17:59] Like, that's the worst thing you can do.
[00:18:00] If you respond to them in a like way that makes you sound kind of bitchy, you're just fueling the fire.
[00:18:07] Especially when you're already not particularly popular.
[00:18:11] Exactly.
[00:18:11] Like at that point, just like shut up and accept it.
[00:18:14] Like, they don't like you already.
[00:18:16] You're digging the hole.
[00:18:18] Well, especially because now they're going to they're going to go out of their way to improve them.
[00:18:22] So they sound better.
[00:18:23] Yeah.
[00:18:24] I'm just like, I'm like, oh, yeah, this will be this will be entertaining to watch.
[00:18:29] Yeah.
[00:18:30] It was literally one of those things where I saw it.
[00:18:32] I listen to one like this is dumb kind of shitty, but I got a chuckle out of it because I'm like, wow, people are this desperate.
[00:18:39] They miss Chester.
[00:18:41] They actually don't sound particularly great just because of the fact that the songs clearly weren't written with Chester's voice in mind.
[00:18:48] Exactly.
[00:18:49] Yeah, that's the thing.
[00:18:51] And it's also like it's not Chester's words.
[00:18:53] And I just don't feel like that's like helping either.
[00:18:56] Yeah.
[00:18:57] It's just the whole thing is it's just something I got a chuckle out of.
[00:19:02] Yeah.
[00:19:04] Yeah.
[00:19:05] Other than that, you know what song's been stuck in my head all day and I can't get it out no matter what?
[00:19:12] What?
[00:19:13] It's My Life by Bon Jovi.
[00:19:16] What was it on the radio at some point?
[00:19:18] It came on my Spotify at work and it's been stuck in my head all day like I'll be just walking around also and I'll be like, this is a song from the broken heart.
[00:19:30] And then I'll just be like in my head like when I'm like, just like, it'll be dead silent.
[00:19:34] I'll just hear it's my life.
[00:19:37] It's now or never.
[00:19:40] Can someone auto tune this?
[00:19:40] I just want to live forever.
[00:19:43] Yeah, you know.
[00:19:44] Can someone auto tune this and we can put it on the internet and then AI him to finish the song?
[00:19:50] An AI cover of me singing It's My Life.
[00:19:53] Yes, that's what we need.
[00:19:55] Someone out there.
[00:19:57] Do it.
[00:19:58] If you have the power.
[00:20:00] It's just such a random song to be stuck.
[00:20:03] It's like the fact that I'm not even a massive Bon Jovi fan.
[00:20:06] I just like that song is annoyingly catchy.
[00:20:11] Yeah.
[00:20:12] You know, it's been in my I keep I've been I'm still on my Jersey Shore rewatch.
[00:20:17] We watch.
[00:20:17] We and I made it through.
[00:20:20] Well, so I watched the original series.
[00:20:23] And then also, have you watched Paramount recently?
[00:20:28] I feel like I watch more ads than the actual show on.
[00:20:31] Yeah, it's getting pretty bad.
[00:20:33] Fucking terrible on there.
[00:20:35] At one point, I think my app kind of glitched and I was getting no ads.
[00:20:40] And I was like, I'm not going to complain.
[00:20:42] I'm just going to ride this out.
[00:20:43] And then it came back.
[00:20:44] I was like, damn it.
[00:20:45] Um, but I made it to the family vacation part.
[00:20:49] And I just keep getting the same ad.
[00:20:51] It's like for some sort of like a vacation company or something, but it has a song.
[00:20:56] It's like it's the steamboat way.
[00:20:59] So like I'll just be in my head and I'll be like, just steamboat way.
[00:21:02] And I'm just like, oh, I hate this stupid little song jingle.
[00:21:06] And it's in my head constantly because they play the same.
[00:21:09] It's always the same like five ads too.
[00:21:12] I hate the fact that I paid for like the premium version and they decided now we're going to make an even more premium version.
[00:21:19] Yeah, just fuck over everyone that already bought the ad free version.
[00:21:22] Like it's so shitty.
[00:21:24] Like there's so many.
[00:21:26] And the amount are ridiculous.
[00:21:28] I love how streaming like did all this to get away from cable and we've just become cable again.
[00:21:33] Yeah.
[00:21:33] Like this is ridiculous though.
[00:21:35] Cause you literally watch like five minutes of the show and then it gives you an ad.
[00:21:39] Like I'm almost going to stop.
[00:21:40] Like it's almost unwatchable at this point.
[00:21:42] Well, I haven't honestly, if it doesn't get any better, I might drop the Paramount.
[00:21:46] I don't blame you.
[00:21:48] Yeah.
[00:21:48] I don't blame you.
[00:21:51] I will watch.
[00:21:52] Even like Max is starting to get kind of Max doesn't have bad ads.
[00:21:57] Max just just like dropping shit left and right.
[00:22:00] Like content.
[00:22:01] Yeah.
[00:22:02] Like most of the DC stuff is just gone now.
[00:22:05] Like they just got rid of it.
[00:22:06] Really?
[00:22:07] Like, you know, the stuff I bought the damn service for like.
[00:22:12] I mean, if, if they drop friends and they drop like all like the, like the discovery stuff, then I'll probably be like, yeah, fuck this.
[00:22:19] Yeah.
[00:22:19] I don't blame you.
[00:22:20] I mean, I've honestly been watching Crunchyroll, High Dive and Netflix.
[00:22:26] Yeah.
[00:22:28] Netflix has been surprisingly decent lately.
[00:22:31] They're picking up a lot of shows.
[00:22:33] They have.
[00:22:33] They're just, I still think they're too expensive for what they are, but.
[00:22:37] Keep jacking the damn price.
[00:22:38] Oh, Disney plus jack the price up again, too.
[00:22:40] Yeah.
[00:22:42] But Disney plus does have a lot of good content.
[00:22:44] So it's like one of those things where you're just like, yeah.
[00:22:47] Yeah.
[00:22:49] Crunchyroll.
[00:22:51] Yep.
[00:22:52] You know, I'll give High Dive a lot of credit.
[00:22:54] They're, they're very affordable and there's some decent stuff on there, even if their UI is fucking atrocious.
[00:22:59] Oh, it's awful.
[00:23:00] But no, there is really good stuff on there.
[00:23:03] You just gotta dig for it.
[00:23:05] Yeah.
[00:23:06] That's where you find all the hidden gems is on a high dive.
[00:23:09] Hmm.
[00:23:09] Well, that's where Nana is.
[00:23:11] I still think you should watch Nana.
[00:23:13] That's probably gonna be a next year thing.
[00:23:15] Well, especially I would say if you really love that outro of Oshinoko.
[00:23:20] I feel like you'll like a lot of the music of Nana.
[00:23:23] Cause it is very, it's centered around music.
[00:23:26] A lot of it.
[00:23:27] So.
[00:23:29] Yeah.
[00:23:33] I'll have to, um, it's gonna be on my list.
[00:23:36] I have a lot of stuff on my list for next year.
[00:23:39] I'm hopefully gonna be more preemptive next year with anime and not like trying being
[00:23:43] most of it towards the end of the year.
[00:23:45] See, I just kept watching shit as it came out.
[00:23:48] I feel like next year I'm gonna end up watching more shows as they come out.
[00:23:52] Cause now that I started it with Dawn to Dawn, um, I like can't stop.
[00:23:57] Like I was just like, I started watching.
[00:23:59] I was like, I can't, I need to, I need to watch this.
[00:24:02] It looks so good.
[00:24:02] And it was so.
[00:24:05] I'll start being one of those weekly watcher peoples.
[00:24:08] See, I made the horrible decision to, uh, start the year off watching, uh, Rony Kenshin
[00:24:14] 96.
[00:24:15] And like that just like took forever.
[00:24:19] How many episodes is that?
[00:24:21] 94.
[00:24:22] 94.
[00:24:23] Ooh.
[00:24:24] And the last, the last season is atrocious.
[00:24:27] Oh no.
[00:24:28] Bad.
[00:24:28] They ran out of manga.
[00:24:30] So they just kind of went off the script.
[00:24:32] That always goes well.
[00:24:34] Yeah.
[00:24:34] Well, especially around like the nineties cause they have their, which is tragic.
[00:24:39] Cause the, uh, the third arc of Rony Kenshin is actually really good and it's never been
[00:24:43] animated fully, but they're reanimating it, right?
[00:24:47] Yeah.
[00:24:47] There's the new series is coming out.
[00:24:49] I'm, I'm actually interested in watching that.
[00:24:51] I just, I'm waiting probably a bit before I do it.
[00:24:53] Cause I just, I just watched all of the old one.
[00:24:56] No, that makes sense.
[00:24:58] It's funny how they used to always like, just jump to the ending on these old show.
[00:25:03] Like they would just like keep going without the manga before.
[00:25:07] And now they tried to stretch it.
[00:25:09] They tried to stretch it until they got more manga.
[00:25:11] And then like the, the, the third season was so horrendous.
[00:25:14] They canceled the show because it was that bad.
[00:25:17] Uh, it's crazy.
[00:25:19] Like there's a whole arc centered around religion.
[00:25:22] It's like, this is so dated.
[00:25:24] Oh, well, it's funny.
[00:25:25] Cause then you look at some shows that managed to push through.
[00:25:28] I mean like bleach.
[00:25:29] I still remember that arc of like the bounce.
[00:25:33] That was all filler.
[00:25:35] Like none of it was in the manga and it was terrible.
[00:25:38] And they still made more after it.
[00:25:40] So it's funny, like which shows, you know, even though they make garbage,
[00:25:44] like a whole section of garbage, it can still push through while some of them just can't.
[00:25:48] It's interesting.
[00:25:50] Yeah.
[00:25:52] But, um, yeah, anyways, we've waffled on for a good 20 minutes.
[00:25:56] I hate that term.
[00:25:58] I know.
[00:25:59] And I love it.
[00:25:59] Pancake done.
[00:26:01] We pancaked done.
[00:26:02] We.
[00:26:03] French toast done.
[00:26:04] We omeleted on.
[00:26:06] See, it doesn't work the same.
[00:26:07] We English muffin done.
[00:26:09] Waffling just sounds good.
[00:26:11] No, we need to find something else.
[00:26:13] We eggs Benedict on.
[00:26:16] It doesn't work if you have to like struggle to add the ending part.
[00:26:20] Let me, uh, we, we, uh, we, we, uh, what are other foods for breakfast?
[00:26:29] What are other, we oatmealed on.
[00:26:32] Oatmeal.
[00:26:33] That's your new one.
[00:26:34] We serial killer done.
[00:26:36] Oh, speaking of murder.
[00:26:39] Speaking of murder.
[00:26:40] Did you see the, you, the guy that they found?
[00:26:44] Oh, did they find the, they found the guy who killed them?
[00:26:47] Yeah.
[00:26:48] Oh, you haven't seen that?
[00:26:50] No, I don't.
[00:26:50] I don't watch the news.
[00:26:52] So.
[00:26:52] He's pretty well, it's all over Twitter.
[00:26:54] Twitter.
[00:26:55] I don't use Twitter.
[00:26:56] I don't use Twitter anymore.
[00:26:58] I know.
[00:26:58] I abandoned that.
[00:26:59] Yeah.
[00:27:00] Well, it's, uh, yeah, he's like not that old.
[00:27:04] Um, and they found him in a McDonald's and the person who, um, the person who, who called
[00:27:11] it in, like call and gave like a tip.
[00:27:14] They might not give them the money because he didn't call the tip line.
[00:27:18] He called the police.
[00:27:21] I'm just like, isn't that so if they don't give him the money, that's ridiculous.
[00:27:25] Cause one.
[00:27:26] Is this how serial killers are created?
[00:27:29] I'm just saying.
[00:27:29] That's like how people, well, they caught the guy.
[00:27:32] Um, yeah, some of his background was like kind of crazy reading into it.
[00:27:37] Like he was the valedictorian of his class.
[00:27:39] Um, and he had like back surgery and they read something of like, they messed it up or
[00:27:46] they messed up his back to the point, like he was living with constant pain and that's
[00:27:50] what pushed him over the edge.
[00:27:52] Um, and well in the insurance or I think it had to do with the insurance, not covering
[00:27:59] and helping him.
[00:28:01] So that's why he did it.
[00:28:02] So it was crazy reading into that.
[00:28:05] That's how the world, that's how it is.
[00:28:06] That's how this stuff happens now.
[00:28:07] And it's kind of scary.
[00:28:08] Yeah.
[00:28:11] Interesting.
[00:28:12] But so what is our topic today?
[00:28:16] And we're not waffling on.
[00:28:18] We are oatmealing on.
[00:28:20] It doesn't work.
[00:28:21] Anyways, so we serialed on.
[00:28:23] We're doing another, the games that shaped us.
[00:28:26] Probably the final one of this season.
[00:28:28] I don't want to.
[00:28:28] I don't want to.
[00:28:31] Yeah, you do.
[00:28:31] Cause we're talking about one of your favorite games.
[00:28:33] Oh, all right.
[00:28:35] As long as you take back the waffle, we're good.
[00:28:40] Take it back.
[00:28:42] Okay, fine.
[00:28:43] We strudled on.
[00:28:44] I will take that.
[00:28:45] I haven't been toaster strudel in so long.
[00:28:48] I bought it once out of curiosity recently and it's fucking gross.
[00:28:52] It's like.
[00:28:52] No, no.
[00:28:54] Wait, which one did you buy?
[00:28:55] Did you buy like the one where you put the, um, the sugar goo on the top?
[00:29:01] I hate that so much.
[00:29:03] Or did you buy like the one with the cheese and bacon?
[00:29:06] Yeah.
[00:29:07] Which one did you get?
[00:29:08] I think I bought the cinnamon one and I just didn't put on the goo because I hate it.
[00:29:13] You don't like the goo.
[00:29:15] Not really.
[00:29:16] What's wrong?
[00:29:16] It's not goo.
[00:29:17] It's icing.
[00:29:18] I also don't have time.
[00:29:20] That's the best part.
[00:29:20] I used to just eat the icing.
[00:29:22] I'm aware.
[00:29:24] Cause children are gross.
[00:29:27] I fucking love.
[00:29:27] I honestly, there's sometimes where in college, uh, sometimes I would just get a can of frosting
[00:29:33] and I would just snack on it when I was depressed.
[00:29:37] This is how the freshman 15 happens.
[00:29:40] No, honestly it was.
[00:29:42] It was.
[00:29:43] Uh, how is what makes a doaster shoot?
[00:29:50] Hey, because I have barely enough time to eat in the morning as is.
[00:29:54] Um, and second off, I was like, I don't have time for that.
[00:29:57] You should get a hot pocket instead.
[00:29:59] You should get the breakfast hot pockets.
[00:30:01] Yeah.
[00:30:01] Those are gross.
[00:30:02] I just eat cereal.
[00:30:03] Cause it's the only thing.
[00:30:05] You think the hot pockets are gross?
[00:30:08] They kind of are.
[00:30:09] I mean,
[00:30:11] Get out.
[00:30:12] I'm leaving.
[00:30:13] How dare you?
[00:30:14] I'm leaving.
[00:30:16] Where's this button?
[00:30:17] I am leaving.
[00:30:18] You take that back.
[00:30:20] Hot pockets are a wonderful creation.
[00:30:22] They're a hot pocket of mush.
[00:30:24] Whatever.
[00:30:25] And you eat them and your mouth burns because there's no.
[00:30:28] Please don't.
[00:30:28] You have to let them cool.
[00:30:30] They don't even come with the sleeves anymore.
[00:30:33] What did they do?
[00:30:33] No, the sleeves are gone.
[00:30:34] No, that's essential to the crisp of it.
[00:30:38] Nope.
[00:30:38] They got rid of the sleeves.
[00:30:39] I'm Googling it.
[00:30:40] I'm Googling it right now.
[00:30:42] They got rid of it.
[00:30:43] I don't believe you.
[00:30:45] I don't believe you.
[00:30:46] I bought a four cheese set recently and the sleeves are gone.
[00:30:50] They got rid of the sleeves.
[00:30:51] You got a defective one.
[00:30:53] I don't believe you.
[00:30:55] Oh,
[00:30:58] Oh,
[00:31:00] Uh huh.
[00:31:02] How did they?
[00:31:04] It's the hot pockets.
[00:31:10] Good.
[00:31:11] No more.
[00:31:12] No more sleeves.
[00:31:14] It's the crisper sleeves.
[00:31:17] Nope.
[00:31:19] Why would they.
[00:31:21] Nope.
[00:31:22] Well, to save money.
[00:31:23] That's why.
[00:31:24] But like frequently asked questions.
[00:31:26] why the fuck did you get rid of the sleeves is that on here why are you putting on the music
[00:31:38] because you're going off on a tangent
[00:31:41] i'm mad hot pockets are great and half of it is the crispy sleeve technology
[00:31:49] and i'm eating this toaster strudel that shit was good too you're you just didn't eat them right
[00:31:55] see but they used to have those toaster strudel commercials where they're like move over pop
[00:31:59] tarts and i'm always sitting here going like i'd rather have the pop tart well no no a pop tart is
[00:32:04] oh no a fucking pop tart can you give me the pop tart do you have pop tarts not currently damn it
[00:32:11] you know which ones are the best of the cinnamon brown sugar those ones are op
[00:32:18] like if you're gonna get a pop tart that's the classic that's the one to go with i don't want
[00:32:22] that fruit shit i don't want that fruit shit i want that you don't want the dessert ones they're all
[00:32:28] like dessert now what the dessert he wants to branch the brown sugar one though is just like
[00:32:35] perfect the classic wonderful but toaster strudel are also great do you remember the old
[00:32:42] strudel do you remember the pop tart that was like the purple like frosting with like the blue
[00:32:47] swirl on it was like fruit on the inside yeah the classic i don't see that ever anymore i don't
[00:32:52] think they make i gotta look this up now pop tart with purple theme of something too oh it's wild berry
[00:33:09] i think they still have it i just never see it i have to buy that now it's frosted wild berry
[00:33:16] now i want just pop tarts pop tart flavors but let me see anyways no no i gotta find my favorite one
[00:33:23] first well the brown sugar is definitely up there um ew banana bread sounds gross
[00:33:33] chocolate fudge is also pretty good it's just double chocolate i'm so like tired of chocolate
[00:33:38] right now though that i probably couldn't do it i mean i would for a pop tart i love a good pop tart
[00:33:45] what else what else do we got what are some oh cookies and cream cookies and cream was always a
[00:33:50] good one too brown brown sugar is top tier and i'd say like cookies and cream boston cream pie was
[00:33:57] pretty good too just because we're new englanders and that's just the thing i'm do they make that
[00:34:02] i think it's a it's a seasonal thing because i only see it sometimes red velvet those ones are good
[00:34:10] oh can you get me a pop tart we need to do a pop tart we need to do a pop tart tier list at some
[00:34:16] point we should really go into tier lists next year we should do like tier random tier list it can
[00:34:22] just be chaos tier list bring in bring on friends and have can i host it sure yes i'll bring the chaos
[00:34:30] get ready for next year chaos tier list we're gonna do pop tarts we're gonna do hot pockets we're gonna
[00:34:37] do um water bottles you remember lean pockets they gave up on that real fast well yeah because it was
[00:34:45] just a hot pocket that they tried to say was healthier and it wasn't what else could we do a
[00:34:51] tier list for ben and jerry's we'll save this for next year let's move on to our topic i'm loyal yes you
[00:35:01] do no so we as we said earlier we're doing another games that shaped us for this episode into squares
[00:35:11] anyways for this episode we're going to be talking about pokemon black and white the um
[00:35:19] this is such a weird entry in the pokemon series because i do believe it is arguably the best entry in a
[00:35:25] lot of ways yeah um but they're also the ones that just seem to be like overlooked these days
[00:35:32] i also feel like they are not touching them purposely because they know they're so great and they don't
[00:35:37] want to ruin them either they're just like they just don't know how to approach it because yeah
[00:35:45] we'll get into it with black and white but black and white did a lot of stuff differently than um
[00:35:51] well i think the biggest thing about this one is it actually had kind of like a storyline that was
[00:35:58] interesting it had a storyline that was very much connected to the game like because i mean you can
[00:36:03] argue all the previous gens had stories like gen 3 definitely has a story but you have to really
[00:36:09] pay attention to it to really grasp it i agree that this one was very much like you were in the
[00:36:16] story as you were playing it the story was very front and center i feel like they took in a lot of
[00:36:21] rpg storytelling aspects for this game which they haven't really relied on prior to this one and i don't
[00:36:29] think they ever really have since this one either this game was also notably very linear like the um
[00:36:35] the unova region where this game takes place which is based on america which is kind of cool yeah um
[00:36:41] the map the names of the main characters are hilda and hilbert that that they are um i will say
[00:36:48] american names hell yeah my neighbor hilda is great
[00:36:53] that being said um the map for the region is literally a circle like it is the most linear
[00:37:02] probably pokemon region there's ever been but that's totally fine because honestly like it makes
[00:37:07] the game's story easier to follow and the progression is so easy um not that the game itself is easy
[00:37:15] um no it's actually i definitely think one of the more difficult it can be difficult um i mean that
[00:37:24] a final boss fight yep alex still has nightmares um so the unova region did notably a lot of different
[00:37:34] things like obviously we had mentioned uh the two player characters hilda and hilbert we talked about
[00:37:39] them in the previous um player character uh discussion uh episode we did a while ago but um
[00:37:46] they're notably two of i think my favorite designs in the series notably hilda's probably like my favorite
[00:37:51] um female protagonist design yeah well also i think this a good thing to bring up too is like this was
[00:37:57] one of the few games where the characters were not 12 yeah they were like 15 i believe they were
[00:38:04] definitely teenagers and a lot more mature characters which for us it actually worked out
[00:38:11] really well because as we were playing these games we were also kind of growing up so the age we were
[00:38:17] when we played these was probably around the age of the characters were hmm yeah and also um another
[00:38:24] interesting thing too that they did was this was the first uh the first time we had a female uh
[00:38:29] professor which was you yes professor juniper and juniper was badass she was she was on one of my
[00:38:37] one of the more interesting professors because she actually seemed to do stuff yeah like she actually
[00:38:42] like helped you and was actually a pretty important plot device as well in some points um that and
[00:38:50] another interesting thing they did was they gave rather than having just one rival you got
[00:38:55] three arguably yeah well because you had your counterpart whichever you didn't choose to be
[00:39:03] the character well oh wait no no no he wasn't one never mind i'm sorry i forgot and
[00:39:10] i think i didn't think of him as a rival i thought of him as like the villain
[00:39:14] well but he is the right he's a lot of he's a lot of things in this game he's very complicated yeah
[00:39:20] you have your two main rivals who kind of travel with you bianca and sharon um where sharon is the
[00:39:26] one who's more of like the challenge and bianca is usually the one that's pretty easy to beat
[00:39:31] yeah like you'll notice very quickly in every town you visit you'll run into bianca early on
[00:39:38] and then you'll run into sharon before you leave yeah sometimes right after a gym
[00:39:43] fuck you sharon yeah no he would be like waiting there he'd be like you want to do all and you're
[00:39:49] like yeah after you just got your ass fucking kicked by the gym and you're like barely alive and he's
[00:39:56] like want to fight it's like no no i don't that's why you always that's why you always save before
[00:40:01] exiting the gym and have extra healing items on you yeah or at least one pokemon that you save just
[00:40:08] to fight him but i was always so many times i'd be like sharon would show up i'd be like not now
[00:40:13] like go away yeah and like it was actually cool too because they actually gave these characters
[00:40:19] some character they weren't just like mindless drone that you kept fighting like part of bianca's
[00:40:26] storyline was that her parents were pretty like her father was pretty against the fact of her going
[00:40:32] and being a pokemon trainer and she just wanted to do it and at one point like she he actually comes
[00:40:37] to like bring her back and your character kind of helps and goes no like she needs to do this like
[00:40:42] this is what she wants to do so it definitely like one made you made the characters a lot more
[00:40:49] memorable because i could not tell you most of the rivals names and the other ones but these ones i
[00:40:54] always remember bianca sharon and professor juniper like i remember all the characters names yes i might
[00:41:02] have played this game like 20 times but the only rival that well i mean besides like blue who's like
[00:41:07] the original rival the only other rival that really made an impact was probably silver back in gold and
[00:41:14] silver because he was just such a dick yeah but that's besides the point i oh and i guess barry
[00:41:21] because he was on speed like 24 7 yeah um but yeah another thing that black and white also did which
[00:41:29] it really played with the idea of um different battle scenarios yeah like this was i think the game that
[00:41:38] introduced like the triple battles or like double battles as well so there was double battles there was
[00:41:44] like the triple rotation battles where there'd be three pokemon on screen and they would like rotate
[00:41:50] between which one was the one you were going to fight at different times kind of for more of a challenge
[00:41:54] yep there was uh the battle hordes yeah i remember those um also this one was like the first one where
[00:42:02] your pokemon moved like they animated like constantly which was different yeah and this was the last one
[00:42:10] before they moved on to 3d and they kind of stepped with the 3d not counting uh black and white 2
[00:42:18] well yeah i kind of wrote those in but yeah like the black and white series was the um
[00:42:24] the final two well mostly 2d because that's another innovation that this game had
[00:42:30] uh more 3d experimentation like there's that one main city that is full 3d and it's really weird
[00:42:38] yeah no they definitely tried a lot of new things that i think they took some things that were good
[00:42:46] and then they didn't take a lot of things that were great with the new games um but they did take
[00:42:54] some i mean i think the most interesting thing about this game is the storyline of like a team galac
[00:43:02] no not team plasma i don't know my galactic is in my head like team plasma like actually had like an
[00:43:10] inch like you almost agreed with them until you found out what they really were about but like at first
[00:43:16] like the whole your first introduction to team plasma is that they are you know separating human from
[00:43:23] pokemon they're like pokemon liberation people like yeah like they want to make sure that people aren't
[00:43:29] abusing their pokemon and like that's the first thing you get and you're like oh that's these people
[00:43:33] aren't that bad uh and then you actually start fighting some of them and you're like okay maybe
[00:43:38] they're not that great until you realize their logic is extremely flawed because they're like they just
[00:43:43] want all pokemon liberated not the fact that the majority of pokemon are perfectly happy being
[00:43:47] no yeah and that's where you kind of see that they have their flaws or there's a deeper negative
[00:43:53] there's also that there's also that cutscene super early where the one plasma grunt is literally
[00:43:57] beating up a pokemon you're like um um sir it's like excuse me yeah and you're introduced to end
[00:44:06] like very early on like in your first town that you go to you see them on the side like doing a little
[00:44:12] protest presentation and then ends in the crowd and he asks you a question and it's pretty reoccurring
[00:44:18] that he comes and talks to you and like it's also one of the games too where you definitely feel like
[00:44:24] you have to play as a specific character like you have the game the game was clearly designed with
[00:44:30] hilda in mind yes and i feel like that's one of the very this is one of the only ones where it's
[00:44:36] kind of weird if you choose the boy character yeah my current playthrough i'm doing of blackwood i
[00:44:41] actually chose i chose um hilda just because it makes more sense ferris wheel people ship them for
[00:44:49] that scene and it's so weird isn't that the ship name i believe that oh yeah pokemon shipping is so
[00:44:56] fucking weird like they name the ships after the dumbest fucking stuff don't people like ship
[00:45:01] the pokemon they ship ever pokemon is the number one category on fan fiction
[00:45:06] that is weird the number one video game category that is but um yeah it's uh it's wonderful um
[00:45:15] yeah the the the ship between n and hilda though is called ferris wheel shipping and it's fucking
[00:45:20] weird because of the ferris wheel scene that's like their only prominent like scene together and it's not
[00:45:25] a fucking shipping scene i'm i don't get why people think that's a shipping scene oh i think it's more
[00:45:31] of just the constant interactions and stuff in the manga he pushes her out of the ferris wheel oh jesus
[00:45:37] yeah after fucking traumatizing her and stealing her pokemon jesus in the manga
[00:45:45] the manga goes fucking deep damn also in the manga her name is white
[00:45:53] great she has like 10 names because doesn't she have probably a japanese name too
[00:45:58] yes but i couldn't tell you what it is yeah yeah her name she's white and hilda and hilbert is black
[00:46:06] i'm like this they didn't think this through although what black and white too was funny because it was um
[00:46:13] uh nate they named him uh blake which that's that one that's clever but then rosa was white lee and i was like
[00:46:22] i'm like that's bad white lee oh boy um uh what else oh i didn't realize it was one of the
[00:46:35] best-selling games for the nintendo i mean it makes sense but uh it was also a very late
[00:46:40] nintendo ds game it sold five million copies
[00:46:44] well it was a very compelling pokemon game because it did so much new at the time it was
[00:46:50] to me it was the last thing with the combined sales it it sold 15.6 billion oh wait oh that must be
[00:46:58] money that that's money it's 15.6 million dollars five million copies yeah um yeah i mean these were
[00:47:09] compelling games honestly they were the these honestly feel like the last time game freak tried
[00:47:15] yeah i i definitely agree besides rcs rcs is probably the only other time they've tried recently
[00:47:22] yeah no i agree with that too like this one is like i don't know if like there was different
[00:47:28] but like it just felt like so much effort was put into this game with the story the gym the character
[00:47:36] designs you know because like the game is long too like it takes you a bit to beat because you really
[00:47:43] you go through the full story of going through i actually don't know if you you do defeat all the
[00:47:48] gyms before you do yeah you defeat all the gyms before you do the final battle but then
[00:47:54] you don't actually do you fight i can't remember if you fought so it's it's a huge yeah it's a huge
[00:48:02] hijacked by ganon moment where literally you go through the entire elite four and this whole time
[00:48:08] you know about the so the champion of in nova is um alder and yeah you run into him very early in
[00:48:15] the game and you're like oh here's the champion he looks tough i can't wait to fight him you get to
[00:48:19] the end of the elite four and then literally a giant fucking castle appears out of nowhere
[00:48:25] yeah like surprise uh no champion fight you got an entire dungeon to go through now and it's like
[00:48:31] okay yeah well because it basically oh by the way that's not the first and that's not the first time
[00:48:37] you get hijacked by ganon we'll get to that later no yeah well um because it's like n defeated um
[00:48:45] um what's his name alder alder and then he's like i'm in another castle and then you have to go fight
[00:48:52] him again and then you fight his dad who fuck you i hate him we'll get to that because you go through
[00:48:59] this whole castle which is where a lot of the plot stuff happens and yeah there is a very this is also
[00:49:04] a very interesting game to me because oh the rum what yeah that rum's weird i i hate that rum i
[00:49:11] usually skip it if i can and well it shows you like so part of like what's interesting too is like
[00:49:18] n is a very odd character like you know there's he's very like he does truly care for the pokemon
[00:49:24] also he's the only character in canon who could talk to pokemon right like he's the only character
[00:49:31] that just for some reason has i don't know anything about the newer games so as far as i know i don't
[00:49:36] remember any of the newer games having so i believe he's the only that is one thing that's
[00:49:40] interesting too is you have a character that can actually communicate with the pokemon so like
[00:49:45] it's you can actually understand him being more justified of like understanding how some of the
[00:49:50] pokemon feel you know because he can talk to them um but like there's this one scene like this one part
[00:49:57] where um i think he has like two maids or something and they're like those maids are so creepy you should
[00:50:03] go to his room and you'll understand him more and you go in his room and it's like a child's
[00:50:08] room that he's been living he's got some mentality stuff i also like the fact that going back a bit
[00:50:15] the game kind of tries to pretend like he's not a significant character at first like he has nothing
[00:50:20] to do with plasma despite the fucking intro basically spelling it out for you yeah hey but a lot of people
[00:50:26] skip that so true i mean that intro is really good though so no yeah um another thing too with that
[00:50:35] so the one interesting thing black and white does as well is the uh the cover legendary
[00:50:41] is very integral to the game's plot yes uh fun fact you're required to catch the legendary in this
[00:50:50] game like you can't just like kill it and like basically be like no i don't want the legendary
[00:50:55] no you gotta catch it to move the plot going forward fun fact you get a master ball right before
[00:51:01] this with the whole intention like oh use the master ball to catch the legendary because it's a
[00:51:06] required catch the catch rate is super low so if you're like if you actually just this happened to me
[00:51:11] you can throw a quick ball and you'll sometimes you'll just catch it you'll be like oh cool
[00:51:16] yeah isn't that legendary there's more there's there's a bunch of legendaries in this game
[00:51:22] yeah this one definitely had yeah the because i think part of it too is like well that's like where
[00:51:28] a lot of the characters you meet along the way to come back because one of the gym leaders is
[00:51:33] actually like a historian uh so you actually have to use her help to summon the legendary and catch the
[00:51:40] legendary and that's also where professor juniper comes in they kind of work together to help you
[00:51:45] um and it's really cool like it's almost like you're backtracking but you're like banding with
[00:51:50] like all these characters so like it's really a save the world plot as well
[00:51:56] is what it turns into but it's crazy because eventually you do get to n and like it's kind
[00:52:02] of cool because it's like a parallel thing because n has the other legendary from the opposite game as
[00:52:07] you and it's kind of like a battle of the legendaries kind of thing although when i play
[00:52:10] the game i my team is always built like a special way and i'm always like i don't want this fucking
[00:52:14] legendary so i just send it to the fucking pc i'm like go away yeah you're like i don't need this
[00:52:20] well because it just disrupts my team that i already had built and i'm like i don't need this
[00:52:24] i'm good yeah um even though the game's very much like are you sure and it's like yeah i'm good
[00:52:30] i don't want it it's like please keep him he's cool it's like you're gonna ruin the story and it's
[00:52:38] like i don't care what you had um you had russian russian rain the the the so it's kind of funny the
[00:52:47] black and black and white version the uh the legendary and um black version is like this like
[00:52:52] white colored pokemon and then the one in the white version is like a darker color one i'm always
[00:52:57] like this is such a weird switch especially because in black and white 2 they like fucking reversed it
[00:53:01] so it was like god damn it yeah um oh another thing that we didn't bring up is uh this was the first
[00:53:10] uh game in the series to really downplay hms oh yeah it was there's like one tree you have to cut
[00:53:20] early on in the game and then after that like hms are basically non-existent throughout this game they're
[00:53:26] like optional yeah i um yeah because it even says um the fog whirlpool and rock climb were no longer
[00:53:38] hms uh rock smash was actually changed from an hm to a tm dive returned um and hms were no longer
[00:53:51] required no longer require certain gym badges to use yeah they well they realized real fast that hms were
[00:54:01] just pointless like the only ones anyone ever used were fly uh surf and sometimes strength
[00:54:08] yeah well and it's also um the tms uh also had infinite use like the hms yeah they got rid of
[00:54:16] the break change too um oh another huge thing too that we probably should bring up is uh black and
[00:54:25] white was very notable for they made a big deal about all the pokemon in black and white were
[00:54:32] completely original yes which is true except for one area in the in post game but that's that's post
[00:54:40] game um the uh yeah the pokemon throughout the anova region are all original and it is i remember at
[00:54:48] the time i was annoyed because like i really liked the older pokemon but like playing it again now it's
[00:54:53] like it's really refreshing because you actually have to use different pokemon and actually do different
[00:54:59] things and it was really nice too like a lot of designs were very refreshing and honestly some
[00:55:06] of my favorite pokemon came out of that plane i mean superior came out of there um crookodile
[00:55:14] crookodile is the great is probably the best pokemon from this game the shades the shades except in his uh
[00:55:21] except in his uh shiny his shiny have you seen his shiny form yeah he looks like derpy um and then uh
[00:55:31] but i also really like daruma the little like red guy like he was always my fire guy on my team
[00:55:39] um no it definitely gave us a lot of really unique designs and i also feel like too a lot of pokemon
[00:55:47] you could definitely tell i don't know like they were very stylized like they were very like
[00:55:53] all kind of cohesive to like the current generation style which i liked
[00:56:01] no 100 like the anova region itself just has a really good like look to it too which like i think
[00:56:09] has like aged incredibly well and it's something that a lot of the later regions i feel like kind of lost
[00:56:17] like like like inova just feels dark like it feels like a darker region in which i kind of
[00:56:23] really dug well it definitely was a more mature game and a more mature story which i think was
[00:56:30] very refreshing and it was one of the reasons i also feel like it's one of the reasons why you
[00:56:35] struggled to get back into pokemon after this game because i feel like they really well no no you gotta
[00:56:41] remember i played i played x and y to like death yeah that's more of the reason why i struggled
[00:56:46] after because i just i burned myself out with x and y true but this might have a little bit to do
[00:56:53] with that as well well also the fact x and y was kind of disappointing compared to these
[00:57:02] um do you remember the scene where um you're walking on the bridge and then the
[00:57:07] like shadow people just show up around you and it actually jump scares you oh yeah like the um
[00:57:14] what did they call them like they were like part of team plasma like the not the sages i think they
[00:57:22] were literally called like the shadow the shadows people or whatever i don't know yeah some sort of
[00:57:27] it was some sort of like not super clever but there's literally like a point though where like
[00:57:32] you're walking down that bridge and they then they just like completely corner you and just like
[00:57:36] stop you in your tracks i'm like what the fuck um this game also also famously gave us a follow-up on
[00:57:45] everyone's favorite character from gen one english grunt so in in gen one there is a team rocket
[00:57:54] member who speaks in really broken english um which the implication is because gen one takes place in japan
[00:58:01] it means he the implication is he's a foreigner so he doesn't speak very good japanese
[00:58:06] um you actually find him here and he's actually an american and that's why and you can actually talk
[00:58:11] to him and he references like the fact that he used to work for team rocket oh that's funny it's a
[00:58:16] little it's a cute little mythology gag that i thought was really charming i also forgot we forgot
[00:58:22] to mention this uh do you remember the detective guy who like also was part of the story it was like
[00:58:27] looker that was his name or something do you remember it like there was a detective who was also kind
[00:58:33] of helping you and following you as you played the game because he was investigating um team plasma
[00:58:40] and as it being in the evil organization
[00:58:45] yeah there was a lot a lot there was a lot also this game uh what were the pokemon that like you
[00:58:52] would grind for like xp because this game was pre xp share for everyone uh i believe it was the
[00:58:59] it was the pokemon that you're uh no it was what was the name of it they were pink i can't remember
[00:59:06] what they were
[00:59:09] hmm uh pink i i just remember because you would murder millions of these because they gave extra
[00:59:21] xp i think it wasn't moon no no it wasn't it wasn't that one it was a different one oh i can't remember
[00:59:31] it's gonna bug me now it was like oh audino audino yeah audino i think it was audino you you would kill
[00:59:39] hundreds of them because you got extra xp for for defeating them well so what you would do is you
[00:59:44] would um you would do you would grind and kill the audinos but then you would also have your xp boost i
[00:59:52] think there was an item that also boosted xp so i would do that and then that's what i would do to
[00:59:57] grind grind grind i just keep switching the items over yeah because this one was a pretty xp
[01:00:01] share this was the last game that actually had yeah this was the last like game of the challenge era
[01:00:08] before everything got super easy you definitely had to actually try did this game have mega evolutions
[01:00:18] okay this was because i saw audino has a mega evolution but that was in i didn't think that was
[01:00:24] this team that was an x and y yeah black and white's big innovation was mostly smaller things like there
[01:00:30] wasn't a any there wasn't a major gimmick in black and white like um no because we also had um
[01:00:37] horde battles do you ever horde battles yes for a shitload of pokemon which actually was that
[01:00:44] black and white or that might have been an x and y thing um i honestly actually that might have
[01:00:51] been an x and i know this one had the rotating battles a lot and the um just the three a lot of
[01:00:58] three on ones as well or two on ones a lot of group battles too well there would be a lot of areas too
[01:01:04] where you'd team up with sharon or bianca and you do team battles as well against like the grunts
[01:01:10] that happened a lot in this game sharon was such a little bitch in this game
[01:01:16] he was pretty helpful though when you used him in battle like when you had to battle with the other
[01:01:21] he was but he was so annoying all the time like he had such a stick of spite the entire game that was
[01:01:28] his character he was the like uptight one now i'm just scrolling through all the pokemon this game
[01:01:35] really did have some cool ones like um like uh do you remember levany that was like the bug grass
[01:01:42] one that like looked really cool ice cream cone ice cream all right it's not all perfect okay i mean
[01:01:49] that's better than literal that one's still better than literal trash yeah because this one had a lot
[01:01:57] i didn't realize that this one lilligan which is really cute little flower pokemon we got fish fish
[01:02:07] and and then my boy see that was so cute too oh then he evolves into crock crockle crockle or something
[01:02:20] and then he who's also cool and then google that which is just badass good out such a cool pokemon i'm
[01:02:28] just scrolling through all the pokemon now so we we forgot that we we kind of got sidetracked a little bit
[01:02:33] but going back to uh the fight with n you we literally get sidetracked by ganon i mean uh hijacked
[01:02:40] by ganon again because literally after you beat you mean jehevisis was his name justice
[01:02:46] guestus yeah you get you defeat and then his father guestus shows up he's like no i was secretly a
[01:02:52] generic villain the entire time we saw this guy well and he's like i also think too like degrades
[01:03:01] and too he's like you worthless you like you were supposed to win he's like he's like an
[01:03:06] asshole he's such a character like true like he's like the most stereotypical thing in this game because
[01:03:12] from the the moment you first see him you're like yeah this guy's clearly evil um
[01:03:18] yeah but but yeah um he's not something right about this guy yeah and he famously has one of the
[01:03:25] the most bullshit pokemon in the entire game yup um if you're not prepared for it like alex wasn't
[01:03:34] it's just like the thing is like him and n have two very different teams so the pokemon you bring
[01:03:41] with you like you almost have to like bring your pokemon to struggle against n because it will be
[01:03:47] significantly easier and then have an easier time fighting against justice because every time i think
[01:03:54] too you had i i think i always had to fight n and then go right into the battle like i don't think
[01:03:59] yeah it's started that yeah it's a um it's a it's a two-tier battle so it's like it's it's like you go one
[01:04:05] to the other um like you couldn't like you couldn't like not i think at one point i actually went back
[01:04:12] and ground i had to go get a different pokemon and had to grind to help me out and then i had to come
[01:04:18] back and basically have my pokemon up so high to the point where i could not lose it was not yeah i
[01:04:24] i ground my way out of that fight like um you just had to have to you have to kind of take it at times
[01:04:30] if you're or you have to like perfectly match but that damn two-headed dragon like that thing
[01:04:35] that damn tuna it was the hydrine hydrina or something yeah the the false one of the false
[01:04:42] legendaries of the game um it was a dragon type pokemon i'm trying to find yeah probably in here
[01:04:50] somewhere i mean they really did like make some pretty unique design oh i found the ice cream cone
[01:04:57] all right as soon as i fucking said that then the stupid ice cream pops up i'm like god
[01:05:01] fucking i promise there was better designs that was the that's like the the weakest one in this in
[01:05:08] this game like bambi and bambi's father yes i'm just scrolling through there oh yeah like we had
[01:05:21] shroom the mushroom the poke pokeball mushroom which i got fooled all the time going oh pokeball on the
[01:05:28] ground and then it was just a mushroom guy that was they were just they were just doing a new version of
[01:05:33] of the good old volt orb prank yep they got me i like the little spike electric spider he was cute
[01:05:44] he was cute because there was that cave that had a whole bunch of them oh yeah no the pokemon
[01:05:49] selection was in this game was really good so after you beat guestus you get the the true ending and
[01:05:54] it's like it's like for bonus post-game content it's like now you can track down all of the the
[01:06:00] the team plasma like uh all of the it was the um what were they called the sages sages yeah i didn't
[01:06:08] find all of them but i found a couple of them and that's where you worked with um that's where you
[01:06:13] the um the what's his name what's the term uh detective investigator detective yes i i i found them all because
[01:06:24] i was a really big fan of this game did you go back and fight face uh the elite four again to face alder
[01:06:31] properly yeah yeah of course i was still op at the time i was just like well yeah especially you
[01:06:39] having to become op to be geneticist like this thing was hard like you had to even like some of
[01:06:45] the gyms were like hard because you would be building your team up and you'd be like
[01:06:50] fuck i don't have anyone that would be good for it or like like honestly i love superior
[01:06:56] but if you pick superior it's a tough road because like one of your like
[01:07:01] first gyms you fight is like a bug gym well it's the first one is the elements one the fire water
[01:07:08] grass one and of course if you have a grass pokemon you're gonna fight against the fire one because why
[01:07:14] would they make it easy in the beginning it's that first it's that first gym where you're like hey it's
[01:07:18] that guy that replaced brock in the anime yes and then i think one of the next one at some point
[01:07:26] there's one um where it's a bug gym and you're like oh like i don't have i have a grass pun type this isn't
[01:07:33] gonna go well so uh but if you get a birdie boy you'll be fine so you had this game also changes
[01:07:39] some of the gym leaders around depending on the version like in um in a black and black version the
[01:07:46] the final gym is the dragon gym and you face this like uh the male gym leader option for that gym
[01:07:53] um but i believe in your version um it was iris uh no i believe that was black and white too
[01:07:59] no i think it was black i think it was black and white because iris is the champion in black and white
[01:08:03] too oh maybe oh yeah you might be right i forgot about that yeah i don't remember i thought i think
[01:08:11] face to die but i could be wrong i think it was iris in your version because i remember like being
[01:08:17] because i thought she was completely insignificant in my version of the game but i just don't remember
[01:08:23] i remember seeing her and being like oh it's the girl that replaced the girl character in the anime
[01:08:32] yeah i don't remember um i think for the most part that was like the only really change other than
[01:08:38] that i think most of them were the same mine is just whatever pokemon you pick
[01:08:44] that's your story oh i'm tired um one other thing too i thought was interesting was they
[01:08:51] really kind of played around with that like watch mechanic where like they they would just call
[01:08:55] you up at random points and you get like little like codex calls with like different characters
[01:08:59] and i always remember too because if you play as um if you play as a hilda she just has like this
[01:09:05] thousand-eyed stare just staring off the distance yeah some of the models were funny yeah you did have
[01:09:12] a lot of calls which is how you talk to juniper a lot and how she kind of stayed involved in the story
[01:09:18] or your mother your mother would call a lot as well
[01:09:22] she'd be like how you doing and you're like mom leave me alone i'm on an adventure
[01:09:29] um oh did you also do the battle subway ever
[01:09:34] uh are they doing a 3d black and white game if they are it hasn't been announced yet maybe it's
[01:09:42] a fan made it might be fan made all right i'm gonna assume it's fan made uh what were you saying
[01:09:48] words you ever do the battle subway i did that's the uh that's the only place in the game where you
[01:09:56] you will see the um player character you didn't pick because the battle because the battle
[01:10:05] they're non-existent well they exist they just they're they're only there not relevant
[01:10:11] yeah basically the battle subway is just it's like a series of like two on two battles so you're always
[01:10:16] paired with the other player character basically it's a fun little time waster but you don't do a whole
[01:10:22] lot with it oh one thing i'll say too about this gym i feel like too was all about all the gyms in
[01:10:31] this one was this was one of the last few games where like the gyms were actually a puzzle and you
[01:10:37] had to actually like solve your way to get to the gym leader like i remember prominently the electric
[01:10:45] gym where it was kind of like a roller coaster and you had to like maneuver around and change the
[01:10:50] components to like get your way into the gym like via roller coaster elevators which is pretty cool
[01:10:58] also this game was the one that was this was the first game that decided
[01:11:04] contests suck let's move away from that yeah like no one likes these let's not do them
[01:11:11] yeah because they uh they dropped contests for black and white and they didn't come back until the
[01:11:15] remake of emerald of uh gen 3 and i don't think anyone really missed them
[01:11:23] i didn't no more what is this what the hell is this real were all the gym leaders crucified at one
[01:11:32] point in the manga oh potentially the manga is dark like what the
[01:11:39] fuck wait i'm just gonna send you i sent you the oh let me send it through discord and then you can
[01:11:47] confirm i'm assuming this is the manga why is crucified um i need to read this manga i don't remember
[01:11:58] this but this looks like the art styles yeah that probably happened i have to this is the
[01:12:04] 520th chapter yeah that's probably the manga so currently i am reading pokemon adventures i'm
[01:12:11] i've just gotten to black and not black and white i've got the diamond and pearl so i've still got a
[01:12:15] lot of ways to go before i get the black and white again but uh yeah the pokemon manga is wild
[01:12:24] sounds like a trip oh it it's it's wacky all right
[01:12:30] that's so funny misty when you first encounter misty in the manga she's like getting like attacked
[01:12:36] by a fucking gyarados and she's all bloodied up it's like what the fuck like big gyarados calm down
[01:12:42] i mean well then you end up then you end up getting said gyarados and you're in uh red gets
[01:12:47] the gyarados in his party for a while it's bizarre okay bill do you remember the the zebra
[01:12:53] the electric zebra from this game yes okay why is he think look at the picture i just sent you
[01:13:04] where are you looking there i was looking at gym battles and it popped up why is he think
[01:13:11] why did they make him think because he's he doesn't skip leg day i mean he's double cheeked up
[01:13:18] why did he have so much ass why did he have so much ass oh good lord um yeah anything anything else
[01:13:30] though no podcast is over you just cut it there it's just the music
[01:13:38] um yeah black and white though i love black and white back i need to replay it again it's to me one of the
[01:13:46] best aged pokemon games just because it had such a tight battle system the game was so play it like
[01:13:53] not on the ds um play on steam no no good luck with that or it's not on the switch or anything no you're
[01:14:04] basically you have to play it on the ds damn it or why why you have a ds i know but my copy is like
[01:14:14] i didn't take care of my ds game so my copy is kind of dying you might just need to clean it a bit
[01:14:23] i've tried um nintendo damn damn maybe they'll finally put it on switch eventually i hope that
[01:14:32] they put it on switch and they don't do anything they just poured it over that's all i want i don't
[01:14:38] want them to make any changes i don't want them to 3d it it's great as it is just poured it over so i
[01:14:44] can play it on my switch that's all i want nintendo are you listening are you listening to me do not
[01:14:50] touch that masterpiece oh you want nintendo oh you want something like shining diamond and brilliant
