[00:00:00] Hey guys, on this episode of Gaming Collecting, me and Alex are going to talk about the recently released Solo Leveling movie. Well, kind of movie. We'll get into it during the episode. But we're going to talk about that, just some other stuff that we had going on, and yeah, it should be a fun episode. And anyways guys, on with the intro.
[00:00:39] How you been?
[00:00:42] No! Sunday! Sunday Funday! Just kidding.
[00:00:48] There's nothing fun about Sunday.
[00:00:51] It just means Monday's around the corner.
[00:00:54] Eww!
[00:00:56] Yeah. Hooray.
[00:01:00] Hooray.
[00:01:02] I mean, we've both gotten a lot done though this weekend.
[00:01:06] Yeah, I opened a jar for Alex.
[00:01:08] Yes. Well, I was- So we woke up today, and we went grocery shopping.
[00:01:15] And I was like, I woke up at 7, and then I like, was just like, I'm too tired.
[00:01:20] Because last night we stayed up late building a little mudroom coat rack slash shoe storage slash bench situation.
[00:01:33] Which that was a shit show.
[00:01:35] Uh, I would have given up without Bill's help.
[00:01:39] Uh, there might be some tape on the back of it to keep it together.
[00:01:43] But no one has to see the back.
[00:01:45] Because the goddamn- It didn't come with the goddamn instructions.
[00:01:49] It didn't come with the instructions, but I found the instructions for online.
[00:01:52] But then none of the- That may or may not have been right.
[00:01:55] I think it was.
[00:01:56] I mean, it was close enough.
[00:01:58] But none of the pieces matched the instructions.
[00:02:01] So we had to just be like, I don't know, this girl looks like this.
[00:02:05] And then, oh, it was just- And you know, everyone's seen those things where it's like the little locky screws.
[00:02:12] Like the little locky circles and the screws and you build it.
[00:02:15] It- They suck!
[00:02:18] And they didn't work for that.
[00:02:21] So it's being held together by hopes and dreams.
[00:02:24] Um, but we stayed up late to do- We finished like building that at like 10.
[00:02:30] Yeah.
[00:02:31] Which- And we started building it at like 6.
[00:02:33] So it took us- 7, 8, 4 hours.
[00:02:37] Took us 4 fucking hours to build that.
[00:02:40] Uh, but we-
[00:02:41] You sure did.
[00:02:42] We did.
[00:02:44] But then I went to bed late.
[00:02:45] And then I woke up and I was like, no.
[00:02:47] And then I gave myself an extra half hour and I said, alright, if we want to get grocery shopping out of the way without it being chaotic and full of people, let's just go.
[00:02:58] So we went and then-
[00:03:00] The best times to go grocery shopping are either really early at like the butt crack of morning or like super late.
[00:03:08] Yeah.
[00:03:08] Like right before closing.
[00:03:10] Yeah.
[00:03:10] So, but I got my groceries and so I was doing laundry but then I was also meal prepping for the week because I haven't been very motivated recently and I, you know, have been feeling a lot better about things, you know, with dance and stuff, taking a break from it, which has been good.
[00:03:25] So I've been a lot more motivated to do stuff.
[00:03:27] So I meal prepped for the first time in a while.
[00:03:29] So I made American chop suey.
[00:03:31] Um, and then I was making- I'm one of my- my best dish.
[00:03:35] It's like the only dish I'm really good at making is like roasted Brussels- Parmesan roasted Brussels sprouts.
[00:03:41] But I got cauliflower this time.
[00:03:42] So I did cauliflower and Parmesan roasted Brussels sprouts.
[00:03:46] But I got like that nice Parmesan that's like not the powder.
[00:03:50] It's like the actual like grated, you know, little grated strips.
[00:03:54] And I had just been, you know, in order to make the Brussels sprouts, I put them in a bowl and I put all the spices in the seasonings and then the powder cheese.
[00:04:07] And then I use olive oil.
[00:04:09] So my hands were all oily.
[00:04:10] And I washed my hands like six times and it just wouldn't go away.
[00:04:13] And I couldn't open the jar.
[00:04:14] So I called Bill and I was like, Bill, can you please come open this for me?
[00:04:19] I can't get it open.
[00:04:21] Uh, so Bill came over and he opened the jar for me.
[00:04:27] Yep.
[00:04:28] And I rewarded it by giving him two portions of my American chop suey.
[00:04:32] So did you try it?
[00:04:33] I haven't ate yet.
[00:04:34] I'm probably gonna eat between podcasts.
[00:04:37] Okay.
[00:04:38] Are you gonna eat that?
[00:04:40] Probably.
[00:04:41] All right.
[00:04:42] You can, you can tell me how, how it is.
[00:04:45] If it's not good, I'm sorry.
[00:04:47] I thought it came out good when I ate my portion.
[00:04:49] So, but yeah, Bill had to help me open the jar and he had to help me build a cabinet entry mudroom doorway thing.
[00:05:00] Yes.
[00:05:01] Are you drinking anything?
[00:05:04] I have a ginger ale.
[00:05:06] Oh, with the calories.
[00:05:09] Who cares?
[00:05:13] I care.
[00:05:15] Yeah.
[00:05:16] Well, tell everyone.
[00:05:19] That's what I say to you.
[00:05:21] Everyone cares.
[00:05:23] Everyone cares.
[00:05:24] Do you, don't tempt me to look it up, Bill.
[00:05:27] Tell us a fact.
[00:05:28] Tell us one fact and I'll be.
[00:05:30] It's, it's soda.
[00:05:32] And even if it's a slightly better for you soda, it's still a soda and it's not good for you.
[00:05:36] All right.
[00:05:37] All right.
[00:05:37] That I'll take it.
[00:05:39] Do you want to know what I'm drinking?
[00:05:42] Are you drinking a Sprite?
[00:05:44] I am.
[00:05:45] I'm drinking a Sprite, which is a lemon lime soda.
[00:05:49] It has, uh, 230 calories.
[00:05:53] Uh, per bottle.
[00:05:56] Uh, 20 fluid ounces per bottle.
[00:05:58] That's 1.25 pounds.
[00:06:01] 591 milliliters for those who want to know.
[00:06:04] Uh, what else?
[00:06:05] What else?
[00:06:05] What else?
[00:06:06] What else?
[00:06:06] What else?
[00:06:07] Uh, zero fat.
[00:06:08] Am I muted?
[00:06:09] Okay.
[00:06:10] You didn't mute me.
[00:06:10] No, turn that fucking music off, Bill.
[00:06:12] We've been through this before.
[00:06:14] Stop the music.
[00:06:15] At least make it like clown music.
[00:06:17] Then it would be more fitting.
[00:06:18] Uh, 110 milligrams of sodium.
[00:06:21] That's all.
[00:06:21] Sodium.
[00:06:22] Uh, zero protein.
[00:06:25] 63 grams of sugar.
[00:06:27] Yikers!
[00:06:28] Uh, not significant source of trans fat.
[00:06:33] Uh, I'm just gonna dance.
[00:06:37] I'm gonna dance.
[00:06:39] I'm gonna dance.
[00:06:41] I'm gonna dance.
[00:06:41] Bill is looking.
[00:06:42] I'm gonna dance with my soda.
[00:06:45] I've just been dancing with my soda.
[00:06:47] Uh, what else?
[00:06:48] What?
[00:06:49] It's carbonated water.
[00:06:50] High fructose corn syrup.
[00:06:53] Uh, citric acid in natural flavors.
[00:06:57] And you can recycle it.
[00:06:58] Should I scan for more info?
[00:07:00] No.
[00:07:02] It says you can scan it.
[00:07:03] Can you see it?
[00:07:05] Oh yeah.
[00:07:06] That's cool.
[00:07:07] Whatever.
[00:07:09] You gotta dance, Bill.
[00:07:11] You gotta dance with your soda.
[00:07:12] Dance with your soda and then I'll be done.
[00:07:15] Where's the music?
[00:07:16] We're done.
[00:07:17] Turn the music back on.
[00:07:18] I like that music.
[00:07:19] Turn it back on.
[00:07:20] We're done with this.
[00:07:21] Turn that fucking music back on.
[00:07:22] No!
[00:07:25] Ugh, so...
[00:07:26] I'm gonna sip my drink and ignore you.
[00:07:28] No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
[00:07:29] That's fine.
[00:07:32] So, yesterday we decided to go to the movies for the first time and since we saw...
[00:07:36] You turn that no one cares about your facts off.
[00:07:39] Oh yeah, it's still there.
[00:07:42] It's distracting.
[00:07:44] So we went to the movies for the first time, at least for me anyways, since...
[00:07:50] Spy Family.
[00:07:50] So it's been a bit.
[00:07:52] It wasn't for me.
[00:07:53] I've literally gone two weeks ago to see the Wicked movie.
[00:07:56] Yeah.
[00:07:58] Which I will say, Tangent, great movie.
[00:08:00] Loved it.
[00:08:01] If you like the play Wicked, you'll like the movie.
[00:08:04] Anyways.
[00:08:05] Yeah.
[00:08:07] So, we had gone to go see the movie we're gonna be talking about today on this episode.
[00:08:11] And I got to say, movies...
[00:08:13] I swear to God, the ads get longer and longer every time you go to a fucking movie.
[00:08:18] Oh yeah.
[00:08:19] Like, cause it's like you got the pre-ads.
[00:08:21] And then you get the actual ads.
[00:08:23] Maria Menounos!
[00:08:24] Maria Menounos!
[00:08:25] Go away!
[00:08:26] No one cares about Newbie!
[00:08:29] And they should play...
[00:08:30] Remember when they played the same ad twice?
[00:08:32] Just in a row?
[00:08:33] Yeah!
[00:08:34] It was like the same...
[00:08:35] It was the same Wicked ad too.
[00:08:36] And I was like, are you fucking kidding me?
[00:08:38] Well, that's all they got to talk about right now.
[00:08:40] Okay.
[00:08:40] It was a great movie, but...
[00:08:42] You know, we could have another commercial.
[00:08:45] Yeah.
[00:08:46] I always hate...
[00:08:47] I always hate the pre-commercials, cause it's like, this sucks.
[00:08:49] Like, no one cares about this shit.
[00:08:51] Yeah.
[00:08:53] Um...
[00:08:53] I always love when they bring up the Fathom events, because like,
[00:08:56] I remember those back in the day were always like, that's where the anime films would always go.
[00:09:00] But now, anime films just get normal releases.
[00:09:02] Yeah.
[00:09:03] No, they really...
[00:09:04] Like, now they're just like, alright, go see it!
[00:09:06] Like, even if it's not like a real movie.
[00:09:09] Yeah.
[00:09:09] Like, the movie we just saw.
[00:09:11] Yeah.
[00:09:12] Like, holy shit.
[00:09:13] Um...
[00:09:14] And like, full of theaters!
[00:09:16] Like, that theater was packed.
[00:09:17] Like, not the front front, but like, for the most part...
[00:09:20] Uh, I wouldn't say packed.
[00:09:22] Like, theoretically, if you wanted to change seats, you probably could have gone most places and been fine.
[00:09:28] Yeah.
[00:09:28] There was more people in there than I thought.
[00:09:31] That's all I would say.
[00:09:32] Yeah.
[00:09:33] I think it was pretty full.
[00:09:35] Cause I know the...
[00:09:36] The other films that were coming out were, obviously, Wicked was in theaters.
[00:09:40] Uh, the Gladiators 2.
[00:09:42] The Gladiators 2.
[00:09:42] And then Moana 2.
[00:09:43] Moana 2.
[00:09:43] There was a lot of children going to see Moana 2.
[00:09:46] That theater must have been a fucking nightmare.
[00:09:48] Yeah.
[00:09:50] Yeah.
[00:09:51] Um...
[00:09:51] That's all I can say.
[00:09:53] Hmm...
[00:09:54] Multiple theaters.
[00:09:55] Cause there was multiple showings.
[00:09:57] And I remember too, cause the one...
[00:09:59] So we went to see Solo Leveling, Reawakening.
[00:10:02] Yeah.
[00:10:03] Um...
[00:10:03] And our theater was like shoved in the back.
[00:10:06] Like, way in the back.
[00:10:07] So it was like, oh yeah, this'll...
[00:10:09] Yep.
[00:10:10] This is clearly the, uh...
[00:10:11] It's here just because they know some people will come see it.
[00:10:14] Yeah.
[00:10:16] Um, I always think the...
[00:10:18] So what I found interesting was this was a rated R film.
[00:10:21] So there wasn't a ton of kids in there.
[00:10:23] Um...
[00:10:23] Oh yeah.
[00:10:24] I kinda forgot about that.
[00:10:25] There actually wasn't...
[00:10:26] I don't think there was any kids in there.
[00:10:28] Period.
[00:10:28] No, I don't think so.
[00:10:29] Which was very smart because I kinda forget how like dark the show...
[00:10:36] Yeah.
[00:10:37] At times and how...
[00:10:38] Not even just the show, the fucking ads before it like...
[00:10:41] Oh yeah.
[00:10:41] Were all like rated R films and I was like, holy shit.
[00:10:44] Yeah.
[00:10:44] They don't give a crap anymore.
[00:10:46] And it's like funny how like...
[00:10:47] I don't know.
[00:10:48] Like...
[00:10:49] It's weird.
[00:10:50] Like I feel like movies are just like...
[00:10:51] There's...
[00:10:52] You watch trailers and you're just like...
[00:10:54] There's nothing appealing about that.
[00:10:56] Like you're just like...
[00:10:57] You're so not...
[00:10:58] I don't know if it's the same for you, but like everyone I watched, I was like...
[00:11:02] The only one I wanted to see was the Sonic movie.
[00:11:06] Yeah, the Sonic 3 trailer actually looks...
[00:11:08] I mean, I still get to see Sonic 2.
[00:11:10] I heard Sonic 2 is really good.
[00:11:11] I...
[00:11:12] We gotta do like...
[00:11:13] We gotta rewatch Sonic 1.
[00:11:15] Rewatch and then go watch Sonic 2.
[00:11:18] And then when Sonic 3 comes out, we can go and see that.
[00:11:21] Cause I actually really wanna see it.
[00:11:23] Really badly.
[00:11:24] Yeah.
[00:11:25] It looks really good.
[00:11:26] I'm actually amazed at how the quality and consistency is kept up with those films.
[00:11:30] I mean, Jim Carrey carries a lot of it, but...
[00:11:32] Yeah.
[00:11:34] Um...
[00:11:35] Yeah.
[00:11:35] That was like the old...
[00:11:37] I still...
[00:11:37] I'll never get over the redesign.
[00:11:40] And thank God they did.
[00:11:42] Well...
[00:11:42] I mean, imagine that a director actually listens to fans like...
[00:11:45] And it works.
[00:11:46] Like, wow.
[00:11:47] Yeah.
[00:11:47] Crazy.
[00:11:49] Um...
[00:11:51] But...
[00:11:51] But yes.
[00:11:52] We saw that.
[00:11:53] Uh...
[00:11:53] I still remember like...
[00:11:55] You...
[00:11:55] The fucking Mufasa trailer came up.
[00:11:58] And I just in my...
[00:11:59] I went, this looks like garbage.
[00:12:00] And you were like, that's so mean.
[00:12:02] And I was like, am I wrong?
[00:12:04] Yeah.
[00:12:05] I mean, like, I didn't see the first one either.
[00:12:07] Like, the first one they did in the almost live action.
[00:12:10] It's not live action.
[00:12:11] No.
[00:12:11] It's all CG'd.
[00:12:12] It looks like shit.
[00:12:14] I don't know.
[00:12:14] I just...
[00:12:15] That's the thing.
[00:12:16] Like, that's the thing about like...
[00:12:18] Disney keeps going down that route of like taking franchises.
[00:12:21] Creative bankruptcy.
[00:12:22] And like making them like a live action version.
[00:12:25] Because they're doing it with Lilo and Stitch too.
[00:12:27] But I'm just like...
[00:12:28] You do?
[00:12:29] You know what's part of like the charm of a lot of those classic movies?
[00:12:33] Is like the hand drawn animation and how wonderful and charming it is.
[00:12:38] Like, it just like...
[00:12:40] I don't know.
[00:12:40] It just takes away from it to me.
[00:12:42] I don't know.
[00:12:44] What happened to like original ideas?
[00:12:46] Well, I saw like a clip of like...
[00:12:48] It was Moana.
[00:12:50] The original Moana.
[00:12:52] But it was like the like test.
[00:12:54] Like the test...
[00:12:55] I forget.
[00:12:55] I don't know exactly what it's called.
[00:12:56] But it's like the test work that they do.
[00:12:58] Like the first round of animation.
[00:13:00] And it was all hand drawn.
[00:13:02] And like...
[00:13:03] It looked was...
[00:13:04] I don't know what it is.
[00:13:06] But like, I feel like the CGI, like the 3D animation just takes away from that like...
[00:13:13] Charming.
[00:13:14] And like really creative.
[00:13:16] I don't...
[00:13:16] It just seems so like...
[00:13:19] Commercialized when it's 3D.
[00:13:20] I don't know why it does.
[00:13:21] But like, it just does for some reason.
[00:13:24] Like you should really look at it.
[00:13:25] Because like...
[00:13:26] It like replayed the scene of like when she was a baby.
[00:13:28] And when it was like tussling her hair and stuff.
[00:13:31] Like the ocean was.
[00:13:33] And it was so cute.
[00:13:34] Like the hand drawn version.
[00:13:35] It was like the 3D...
[00:13:36] Like it was still fine.
[00:13:37] But...
[00:13:37] I don't know.
[00:13:38] I just love a hand drawn animation.
[00:13:39] Hand drawn or practical like animation effects.
[00:13:43] Like I always think like the biggest example for me is like Thomas the Tank Engine.
[00:13:46] Like the original model series compared to the CGI series.
[00:13:50] And it's like...
[00:13:51] The CGI got better over time.
[00:13:53] But it's so soulless compared to the original like models and stuff.
[00:13:57] Yeah.
[00:13:58] Like JJ's out playing soulless face.
[00:14:01] Those eyes.
[00:14:01] That was garbage regardless.
[00:14:04] That was a great show.
[00:14:05] What are you talking about?
[00:14:07] But...
[00:14:07] Yeah.
[00:14:08] Mufasa doesn't look good.
[00:14:09] But it's coming out the same...
[00:14:11] I sent a reel of it.
[00:14:13] But it was like a guy talking about like someone...
[00:14:16] Like someone was saying...
[00:14:18] He was...
[00:14:18] It was a skit.
[00:14:19] But his friend was going...
[00:14:20] Oh yeah.
[00:14:21] You gonna see Mufasa?
[00:14:22] And he's like no.
[00:14:23] I'm going to see the Sonic movie.
[00:14:24] And the friend's like you're gonna see the Sonic movie?
[00:14:26] He's like yes.
[00:14:27] Cause I want a movie about this, this, this, this, this.
[00:14:30] And he's explaining everything.
[00:14:31] And then he ended up going, who's gonna win?
[00:14:34] The battle of the Disney adults or the Sonic fan base?
[00:14:38] Both are equally as unhinged.
[00:14:41] So...
[00:14:41] Yeah.
[00:14:42] I feel like the Sonic is gonna win because it just looks like a much more fun movie.
[00:14:47] It helps too that...
[00:14:48] But Shadow has a gun!
[00:14:49] They gave him the gun!
[00:14:51] And I'm also...
[00:14:52] You also gotta believe...
[00:14:53] You gotta understand it's...
[00:14:54] The previous two films have been well received.
[00:14:57] Yeah.
[00:14:57] I don't see why the third one is gonna be a dip in quality.
[00:14:59] And they're basing it off of arguably the most popular storyline in the series.
[00:15:04] I debate whether that's a good story regardless.
[00:15:08] But...
[00:15:09] It's based off a very...
[00:15:10] What?
[00:15:11] Shadow has a gun!
[00:15:13] See?
[00:15:14] I saw it in the trailer!
[00:15:15] I was like thank you!
[00:15:17] People always bring that up to you.
[00:15:19] I'm surprised they kept it!
[00:15:21] The guns were the least offensive part of that game.
[00:15:24] Okay?
[00:15:24] Yeah.
[00:15:25] I mean like there's the...
[00:15:27] The...
[00:15:27] Death of like the blonde girl in space.
[00:15:31] Like that's gonna be in the movie.
[00:15:33] What was her name?
[00:15:33] It was like Mary.
[00:15:35] Maria.
[00:15:35] Maria.
[00:15:36] Yeah.
[00:15:36] I can't wait for the Sonic 06 one.
[00:15:39] And so we can see Elise die.
[00:15:40] No, just kidding.
[00:15:41] Well no, I want...
[00:15:42] I want the Sonic...
[00:15:43] Sonic X adaption where he just beats the shit out of Chris Thorndy.
[00:15:46] Because that was the best part of the...
[00:15:47] Oh hell yeah!
[00:15:48] That was the best part of that damn show.
[00:15:51] Whenever I think of that show, I just think of the stupid grandpa jokes we kept talking about.
[00:15:56] Yeah, well I mean that show's abysmal.
[00:15:59] Well it was like...
[00:16:00] We just kept joking about how you want to like touch the person.
[00:16:03] Because he was trying to...
[00:16:03] No, no, no.
[00:16:04] He was trying to take the batteries out of Sonic because he thought he was a robot.
[00:16:07] And you kept making jokes about he was shoving the screwdriver up his, you know.
[00:16:11] Ha ha!
[00:16:12] Ha ha!
[00:16:12] Yeah!
[00:16:13] Okay.
[00:16:14] We had to have some fun to get through that fucking dumpster fire of an anime.
[00:16:21] That was awful.
[00:16:21] Oh, Chris, don't die!
[00:16:23] Oh.
[00:16:25] Anyways.
[00:16:26] Anyways, back to...
[00:16:27] So we were...
[00:16:28] Yeah, we got through...
[00:16:28] The trailers did take a while.
[00:16:30] Some were interesting.
[00:16:31] Some of them weren't that great.
[00:16:34] I mean...
[00:16:35] Oh, that scared me.
[00:16:37] Did you hear that?
[00:16:38] Yes.
[00:16:39] I just...
[00:16:40] Like that...
[00:16:40] Like...
[00:16:42] Yeah, that was her auto feeder.
[00:16:44] I forgot it goes off at 415.
[00:16:47] Ugly.
[00:16:48] She didn't run though.
[00:16:50] She didn't make no moves.
[00:16:51] She doesn't care.
[00:16:53] She's in a food coma right now.
[00:16:54] Any other trailers that were interesting or...
[00:16:57] Not really.
[00:16:58] Most of the trailers I'm like...
[00:16:59] Some of them make me just uncomfortable.
[00:17:01] Like they dive so deep into stereotypes and trailers now that I'm always like...
[00:17:06] I don't even know who this movie's for.
[00:17:09] Yeah.
[00:17:10] Or like...
[00:17:10] I don't know.
[00:17:10] I feel like sometimes too, like they make the trailer so not like the movie at all that
[00:17:16] you have no idea what they're going to be.
[00:17:17] They've been doing that for years.
[00:17:18] Yeah.
[00:17:19] And it's just like...
[00:17:20] I don't know.
[00:17:20] And also, every time I see a Marvel trailer recently, I'm just like, meh.
[00:17:25] None of them ever seem interested to me anymore.
[00:17:28] To be fair, that's a Sony.
[00:17:30] That's a Sony movie.
[00:17:31] That's not a Marvel movie, but...
[00:17:32] Oh.
[00:17:33] I thought it said Marvel.
[00:17:34] Well, it's based off...
[00:17:36] So Sony has the rights to certain Marvel characters because of the whole like the Spider-Man stuff.
[00:17:41] Oh.
[00:17:42] Basically, if Marvel wants to use Spider-Man, Sony gets to basically make a shit ton of
[00:17:46] movies based off of specific properties.
[00:17:48] That's where Got a Morb came from.
[00:17:51] Morb in time!
[00:17:52] Yeah.
[00:17:53] Oh, so that's why Kraven?
[00:17:54] Is that what it's called?
[00:17:56] Kraven?
[00:17:57] Kraven the Hunter.
[00:17:58] It's actually a very iconic storyline in Spider-Man, but I don't know.
[00:18:04] Sony's...
[00:18:05] Sony's track record is...
[00:18:06] Oh, Spider-Man.
[00:18:06] Oh.
[00:18:07] It's related to Spider-Man.
[00:18:09] Well, it's a Marvel character, but yeah, I'm like...
[00:18:13] It didn't look interesting to me.
[00:18:15] Sony's track record is either the movies are just bad or they're like the Venom movies where
[00:18:19] they're just kind of boring.
[00:18:21] Yeah.
[00:18:22] Even like, I don't know.
[00:18:23] I also like...
[00:18:24] Do you feel like movies just look so dull recently?
[00:18:29] To a degree.
[00:18:30] Like there's no color.
[00:18:31] There's no like...
[00:18:32] Like that movie just looked like in terms of like the color scale, like it just...
[00:18:37] It looked really dull.
[00:18:38] And I feel like if you're...
[00:18:39] Maybe that's why I wanted to see the Sonic movie because it was like bright colors and
[00:18:44] it looked fun and like...
[00:18:45] Ironically, based off one of the most edgelord fucking storylines in Sonic history.
[00:18:50] Yeah, with one of the most edgelord Sonic characters.
[00:18:53] I'm not gonna lie though, that blowing up the moon scene, that was pretty epic.
[00:18:56] Yeah.
[00:18:56] I kind of can't wait to see that in the movie theater.
[00:18:58] I wanna see it.
[00:19:00] But yeah, I don't know.
[00:19:01] Everything else just looked like...
[00:19:02] Cause then there was one that was like...
[00:19:05] Off the John Wick movie.
[00:19:08] Oh yeah, the John Wick spin off that?
[00:19:10] I mean, John Wick is good entertainment if like you just want some like senseless violence
[00:19:14] and action.
[00:19:15] Yeah, I've never seen a John Wick movie so...
[00:19:18] I have no idea.
[00:19:20] It's just like insane action and violence and just entertaining.
[00:19:24] See, I don't know.
[00:19:25] Like, see, like if I wanna watch insane action and violence, I tend to just watch anime.
[00:19:30] So...
[00:19:32] This might piss some people off, but the way I think of like the John Wick films is kind
[00:19:35] of like how I think of Fast and Furious.
[00:19:37] Mm-hmm.
[00:19:38] You don't watch it for the plot, you just watch it for the entertainment factor and then
[00:19:41] once you're done with it, you move on.
[00:19:43] Yeah.
[00:19:44] It's not saying like a very deep movie or anything.
[00:19:48] No.
[00:19:48] Like, let's face it, like I'm not watching Fast and Furious for the fucking plot.
[00:19:52] I'm watching it for the fucking insane like car shit.
[00:19:55] Yeah.
[00:19:55] Because that's just what you watch those movies for.
[00:19:57] Yeah.
[00:19:59] Any other trailers that were interesting or...?
[00:20:02] Not really.
[00:20:03] Most of them I was just kinda like, I don't even know what this is.
[00:20:05] Maria Menounos, get off my movie screen!
[00:20:09] Go back to Bar Rescue.
[00:20:11] I don't know.
[00:20:11] Isn't Bar Rescue dead or something?
[00:20:13] I don't know.
[00:20:14] It's not as good anymore, I feel like.
[00:20:16] Well, COVID ruined it, like it ruined everything, so...
[00:20:19] Yeah.
[00:20:20] Womp womp womp womp.
[00:20:22] But um...
[00:20:23] So yeah, we went to go see the solo leveling movie.
[00:20:27] It took us about 20 minutes to get there, but we finally got there!
[00:20:31] Yeah!
[00:20:32] Yeah, so...
[00:20:34] A little backstory to hype this up.
[00:20:36] Alex watched solo leveling quite a while ago and she was basically like, after watching it, like, you gotta watch this damn movie.
[00:20:42] Watch this show, it's great.
[00:20:43] There's a movie coming out, you need to watch it.
[00:20:45] Yeah, because I wanted someone to go with me to the movie so I could see the movie.
[00:20:49] Yeah.
[00:20:50] So I eventually...
[00:20:52] I did relent, like, two weeks ago and watched the series.
[00:20:55] And I will admit that it takes...
[00:20:58] It's one of those...
[00:20:59] So it's not technically a...
[00:21:00] It's not like an anime, it's technically a Korean property.
[00:21:03] I don't know if there's a different...
[00:21:04] Because I know there's a different term for manga.
[00:21:07] Well, it's still an anime because it was made by Japanese studios, but...
[00:21:10] True.
[00:21:12] It's based off a Korean manhwa.
[00:21:14] I gotta say, too, some of the Korean manhwa stories that are coming out are so cool.
[00:21:22] Like, solo leveling is great and I got into Tower of God this year, too, which I believe was also by a Korean artist.
[00:21:28] It's a different style.
[00:21:30] Like, it's a very...
[00:21:32] I feel like they don't always go for, like, those classic anime tropes.
[00:21:37] Like, I feel like they try and be very different.
[00:21:39] Solo leveling is literally a kind of, like, it takes a common anime concept and just turns it on its head.
[00:21:46] Yeah.
[00:21:47] I guess...
[00:21:48] And I guess we can kind of talk about that since the movie is somewhat...
[00:21:52] Yeah.
[00:21:52] So, yeah, going back and re-explain.
[00:21:55] So, I told...
[00:21:56] I watched it and I said, this is fucking great.
[00:21:58] Phil, there's a movie coming out.
[00:22:00] You gotta watch this series to have some context.
[00:22:02] And I honestly had no idea what the movie was going into it.
[00:22:07] So, I'm sorry!
[00:22:09] But you should've watched it when I first told you to watch it.
[00:22:12] Well, I had to finish the other series I was already watching at the time because I didn't wanna...
[00:22:17] No, you could pause and restart.
[00:22:18] I don't like doing that.
[00:22:20] Um, then that was a pretty...
[00:22:22] It was a particularly busy time for me at the time, so...
[00:22:25] Yeah.
[00:22:26] That being said, um...
[00:22:28] Yeah, so I watched the series and I guess we'll cover...
[00:22:31] So, the reason why we're being a little...
[00:22:33] We're kind of a little all over the place is the first half of this movie is very much a trope that a lot of anime films have been doing lately.
[00:22:42] Where it is the first, like, legit...
[00:22:44] Well, I think, though, we should clear.
[00:22:45] They aren't really films.
[00:22:48] No.
[00:22:48] They're making the movie releases, but they're basically...
[00:22:53] They're trying to hype up the next season, and by doing that, they're basically making a recap of the series while releasing maybe the first two or three episodes of the series and calling it a movie.
[00:23:04] So, it's really not a movie.
[00:23:07] Yeah.
[00:23:08] No, it was, um...
[00:23:10] It was definitely a case of, um...
[00:23:14] Money grab.
[00:23:15] Not money grab.
[00:23:17] It was mostly to hype the next season up.
[00:23:19] Yeah.
[00:23:20] And to see if they could catch any, like, casuals who were just curious.
[00:23:24] Mm-hmm.
[00:23:25] That being said, though, the first half of the film is literally a recap of the first season, but it cuts it down pretty significantly.
[00:23:34] Yeah.
[00:23:34] I think it highlights some of the biggest major fights in it.
[00:23:39] Uh, the major fights and then some character elements.
[00:23:42] Yeah, because the movie opens with, um, the scene of him in that very first dungeon that goes wrong.
[00:23:50] The double dungeon, yeah.
[00:23:51] And it's basically the part where he's been abandoned by his, uh...
[00:23:56] Well, for...
[00:23:57] We should probably explain the premise of the show before we probably get...
[00:24:01] Yeah.
[00:24:01] It'll make more sense.
[00:24:02] So, solo leveling is essentially a...
[00:24:06] The gimmick of solo leveling is it takes the isekai, like, like, idea, but it completely flips it over, where instead of, like, the characters being sent to a video game world, instead the whole...
[00:24:18] The entire real world has been isekai'd.
[00:24:21] Yeah, the world is now a video game world, basically, with video game rules.
[00:24:26] Yeah.
[00:24:26] And it's pretty neat how, like, it ends up working, too, because, like, basically what happens is that, like, now suddenly these dungeon portals are starting to appear all around the world.
[00:24:36] Um, and at first everyone was like, oh, shit, what are we gonna do about this?
[00:24:41] Uh, because you need to basically clear the dungeons or, like, the monsters will come out of the dungeons is the basic theory.
[00:24:48] So, they needed people to do that.
[00:24:51] Well, eventually people started gaining skills in order to combat the dungeons and they're called hunters.
[00:24:56] And the hunters, like, have different classes.
[00:24:59] So, there's S all the way to E.
[00:25:02] And in this world, it's actually really interesting, the concept of, like, whatever class you are given, that is all you can achieve.
[00:25:09] You cannot gain any more skills, which is, I think, one of the coolest parts of this show.
[00:25:14] Yeah.
[00:25:15] So, the way it is kind of, it's essentially all the characters in the show, like, the people that awaken and become hunters.
[00:25:22] Yes.
[00:25:23] They're essentially in, like, say, like, in an RPG or an MMO or something.
[00:25:28] They're essentially the non-player characters where they have set basic stats.
[00:25:33] Yeah.
[00:25:34] And they're basically forever like that once they gain their special abilities.
[00:25:37] Yeah.
[00:25:39] So, if you're like a C-class player, you will never go above a C.
[00:25:44] And if you're an S-class player, you're basically, well, S-class hunter, because they're not really, they're not really players.
[00:25:51] Uh, you're just a magical, lucky to be an S-class right away.
[00:25:55] So, yeah.
[00:25:56] It's like you get gifted with, like, the ultimate power from the, they're essentially super bosses right from the beginning.
[00:26:02] Yeah.
[00:26:02] Like, they're just like, damn, like, all this power.
[00:26:05] Um, and they can just do whatever they want with it.
[00:26:08] But, like, it sucks.
[00:26:09] It's like, so the main character, Jinwoo, um, he is an E-class.
[00:26:14] And he basically, like, in his family life is his father is gone.
[00:26:19] He has a sister who's about to go to college and their mother is sick.
[00:26:23] Uh, because of the, uh, because of the world changing and becoming like this almost video game world.
[00:26:30] It created like different illnesses and there's really no way to treat it, which kind of like sucks.
[00:26:36] So part of his motivation too, at some, which they cut out of the film, because I believe when he went to the hell dungeon.
[00:26:43] Yeah.
[00:26:43] They completely cut that because they cut out the training montage where he gets the key and then the, the, the dungeon.
[00:26:49] The hell.
[00:26:50] Well, he went to that first dungeon, but he didn't go to hell dungeon.
[00:26:53] The hell dungeon where he got, cause he got the key during his workout.
[00:26:56] Yeah.
[00:26:58] Um, and.
[00:27:03] But one of the like prizes of the hell dungeon was like, like a cure.
[00:27:09] Like it was a cure all or something.
[00:27:10] Um, because his mom basically like there's no treatment to her stuff.
[00:27:14] So, but right now he's an E-class hunter and basically E-classes are very, very weak.
[00:27:20] They can't do much of anything.
[00:27:21] And they kind of just tag along on missions to basically be carry things.
[00:27:26] Like you can actually see clips of him like trying to fight and just failing.
[00:27:30] Cause he just does not, is not strong enough.
[00:27:33] Um, but he's a hunter cause he needs to one, take care of his sister, you know, and to pay for his mother's hospital bills, which is very hard on the E-class salary.
[00:27:44] Yeah.
[00:27:46] Yeah.
[00:27:46] Especially when in pretty much every battle he attempts to do, he just gets hurt the whole time.
[00:27:51] Yeah.
[00:27:51] Yeah.
[00:27:52] And there's like nothing you can do.
[00:27:54] So he ends up going on raid and it's just a regular dungeon.
[00:27:58] I think it was a C-class dungeon.
[00:28:00] Cause I think that's the highest he could go into with a, with a party of other.
[00:28:04] And how it works too, is that basically there's all these different companies and guilds out there that basically coordinate.
[00:28:11] And they're constantly looking like there's only, they almost like put like help wanted, like post job postings out there and hunters just go based on if they're called to it.
[00:28:21] If they see it's available or if they're in a large party, but sometimes in the world, which was interesting is your party ends up being just random people.
[00:28:29] You might not necessarily know everyone you're going with.
[00:28:32] You probably eventually like Jean Moon knew some of them just from past experience.
[00:28:38] Like, like one of them was the healer of the party and she had basically always kind of tagged along with him because she was kind of worried he was going to die.
[00:28:46] And she was in a B-class healer or an A-class?
[00:28:50] I think she was B or an A.
[00:28:52] I believe she was B-class.
[00:28:53] Like I think she was actually the, a lot of people, I think the whole game, the whole thing with her was like a lot of people point out she was way too powerful to be hanging out.
[00:28:59] With this group.
[00:29:00] Yeah, but she was basically hanging out to basically save Jean Moon most of the time.
[00:29:06] Well also she was a bit of a pacifist like she didn't actually want to do any of this.
[00:29:10] Yeah, but it almost was probably like she felt like she should just based on her class and her abilities.
[00:29:17] But they go into this first, this dungeon.
[00:29:20] It's a group of random people and it seems really normal until the phenomenon of a double dungeon appears.
[00:29:26] And then the group kind of decides like they do a vote and it's basically 50-50 of like, okay, should we go into this double dungeon or should we turn back and call someone?
[00:29:37] And Jiwoo ends up being the final vote and he says, no, we should move forward.
[00:29:44] Probably the best worst mistake of his life.
[00:29:47] Well yeah, because that entire dungeon ends up being like an absolute like hell for all of them.
[00:29:52] Like half of them die, like very brutally.
[00:29:54] Oh yeah.
[00:29:54] It's a very violent show.
[00:29:55] Well, for most people have probably seen one of the most iconic images of this show is the smiling.
[00:30:02] The statue with the slasher smiles.
[00:30:03] Yeah.
[00:30:04] Because basically they're thrown into this room and this is kind of where the intro scene of the movie comes in, which is also like the first couple of episodes this arc.
[00:30:14] I think first one or two.
[00:30:15] Yeah.
[00:30:16] And it's essentially just a giant test.
[00:30:18] Like it's one of those, like, like imagine a game where like the entire room is based around like, it's like a giant logic puzzle.
[00:30:25] And if you fail the puzzle, you die.
[00:30:27] Yeah.
[00:30:28] And well, cause some of the statues were like warriors, knights, guards had swords and weapons.
[00:30:35] While other of them had instruments and music.
[00:30:38] So they had to eventually with the dungeon, they had to activate the statues that were the music to stop the ones that were the violent ones.
[00:30:48] But at this point, half the party was dead.
[00:30:51] They had already fucked up because literally the only person using logic and sense at the time was Jinwoo and everyone else was just straight up in panic mode giving up.
[00:30:59] Well, Jinwoo and the long hair hunter, the older hunter who lost his arm.
[00:31:05] Yeah.
[00:31:05] The older more mentor-ish hunter.
[00:31:08] Yeah.
[00:31:09] But eventually what happens is like after they solve the first round of the puzzle, well, the next round of the puzzle is kind of a, you need to watch the statues or they will kill you.
[00:31:19] So it's kind of like stare until the time the clock ends.
[00:31:24] Yeah.
[00:31:25] Or they will attack.
[00:31:25] It's basically a, a weighted out kind of situation, but like, of course the, because the way it turns it on its head from say a video game is these are real people in this world.
[00:31:34] Yeah.
[00:31:35] And they all have families, which they make a big point of, which that comes in later.
[00:31:39] Yeah.
[00:31:39] We probably won't go super deep into it, but like, um, basically.
[00:31:42] I feel like this is necessary to talk about just to get, you know, starting on what the concept of the show is.
[00:31:48] Cause this first episode is the first two episodes are very impactful to how the plot goes.
[00:31:53] Yeah.
[00:31:53] Basically everybody put like pushes out cause there's a, like a door that you can like escape out of, but like it, the way it works is one person is not going to get out.
[00:32:01] Cause once it, cause it's slowly closing and they only have limited time.
[00:32:05] Yeah.
[00:32:06] And basically the entire, because Genu at this point is missing a leg.
[00:32:09] Like he is just.
[00:32:10] Yeah.
[00:32:11] He is missing a leg.
[00:32:12] Um, he doesn't lose his arm.
[00:32:14] Only like the bottom half.
[00:32:15] Yeah.
[00:32:15] Yeah.
[00:32:16] But it means he can't physically escape on his own.
[00:32:19] He needs someone to carry him.
[00:32:21] And it eventually ends up like one by one.
[00:32:24] Everyone ditches.
[00:32:25] Everyone ditches.
[00:32:26] And the last ones are Gene Wu, um, the mentor in the female healer, which I'm brave frotting on their names, which the names are also tricky to remember because they're not the usual Japanese.
[00:32:40] They're, um, they're all Korean names and they're very hard to remember.
[00:32:44] So not to be offensive.
[00:32:45] It's just one of those things.
[00:32:46] I have to.
[00:32:48] Well, we've watched a lot of anime and this is also very different.
[00:32:51] They're, they're all very hard to remember names and they all sound similar.
[00:32:56] Yeah.
[00:32:57] That's that.
[00:32:57] Yeah.
[00:32:57] Like, I believe that Gene was the main character and I believe his sister is like Gene, Gene
[00:33:01] Wah or something.
[00:33:02] Yeah.
[00:33:03] Um, so yeah, but what ends up happening is the mentor, like eventually Gene was like, okay,
[00:33:10] the door needs to close.
[00:33:11] You need to leave.
[00:33:12] I will basically, he says he's got, he doesn't want to, but he basically is choosing to sacrifice
[00:33:17] himself because he's the weakest link and he can't leave at this point.
[00:33:21] Well, cause the, the mentor initially like her.
[00:33:26] Oh, well, I was going to say the mentor initially wants the both of them to escape because they
[00:33:29] have lives ahead of them, but yeah, he realizes really fast that, uh, the, the mage, um, character,
[00:33:37] she's completely like, she's not going to leave him behind.
[00:33:41] Well, she's also completely just like mentally not functioning at the time.
[00:33:44] Like she's, her brain is just giving up on her.
[00:33:47] At this point, watching people die very brutal deaths.
[00:33:51] And also she did not want to go into the double dungeon.
[00:33:55] She was one of the part of the group that said, we should turn around.
[00:33:59] I don't want to do this, which also kind of makes you understand some of the people leaving
[00:34:05] and ditching because some of them were those people who voted to not continue in the dungeon.
[00:34:10] They didn't sign up for this.
[00:34:11] I think most of the people who said they wanted to continue actually were a lot of the ones who were killed off very quickly.
[00:34:18] Um, but like, you can kind of see, like, she's just mentally not, not there.
[00:34:24] And like probably would not leave at that point.
[00:34:26] Cause she probably physically, but also mentally just couldn't.
[00:34:29] So eventually Jean was the only one in and basically he's being brutalized.
[00:34:33] Yeah. He's just like, there's a lot of, uh, there's a lot of religious kind of, uh, imagery going on here too.
[00:34:39] Like there's the author definitely has, um, there's a bit of author tract going on.
[00:34:44] Um, I'm not going to get super into that, but it's, it is just something I noticed.
[00:34:48] Yeah. And then this is where the movie kind of begins this scene of him.
[00:34:52] Basically he's basically like, he's dead.
[00:34:58] He's going to die. He's starting to like, be like, I regret ever.
[00:35:02] Like he's like, this isn't how I wanted to live my life. If only I could be stronger.
[00:35:06] And then suddenly out of nowhere, a video game screen pops up.
[00:35:11] Yeah. He gets, he gets a pop-up menu that basically says question.
[00:35:15] Your heart is about to stop.
[00:35:16] Stop. Do you want to become the player?
[00:35:20] Yeah. And he says, yes.
[00:35:22] And basically to quickly, I kind of, cause we're not going to go over the entire series.
[00:35:27] We'd be here for fucking four hours.
[00:35:29] No. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:35:30] Basically this was necessary to get into the show.
[00:35:34] Basically what happens is he becomes, they call it a reawakening, which is something that apparently can happen, but his is different where his outward like scan level stays the same, but he now he's literally the player character.
[00:35:49] Yeah. That, but that's only, so that I think is not, that is going to change.
[00:35:54] I think at the moment they rescan him, he was still at an E rank, but I feel like at the show where he is now, he would probably go in at something else, but basically where no one else can.
[00:36:10] Well, kind of what the show solo leveling.
[00:36:13] He's the only person who can level up in this.
[00:36:16] He's the player character.
[00:36:17] Yeah.
[00:36:17] Like he's literally the, I kind of like connected it with runescape where he is literally the player in runescape where he's just kind of, it's a very interesting parallel where I like the idea where the protagonist is literally a loose cannon that doesn't play by the world's rules.
[00:36:31] Yeah.
[00:36:32] Cause he has like these daily tasks that come up and like, he slowly starts getting stronger and stronger.
[00:36:37] He'll get like different, like mission daily missions that he has to do.
[00:36:40] And if he doesn't do it, he gets penalized for it.
[00:36:43] Yep.
[00:36:43] And basically he can, he is basically now limitless.
[00:36:47] Like he's essentially an OP character, but like, it's, it's not, it's not done in the same way that like, say like chainsaw man is done where it's kind of just a dumb gimmick.
[00:36:56] It's more, I'm not chainsaw man, a one punch man.
[00:36:59] I should say.
[00:36:59] I was like, huh?
[00:37:01] Man, both done by Moppy, you know?
[00:37:04] Um, well, one of them, not really.
[00:37:07] Um, but yeah, he just like kind of goes through like the first like season, like slowly getting stronger and stronger.
[00:37:15] Like, yeah.
[00:37:16] And some of his immediate, his immediate appearance is already drastic where he's like, he goes from being this scrawny, like guy in the hospital to suddenly being ripped within three days.
[00:37:24] So like in part of that too, it was like every day, like the game is requiring him to complete certain tasks.
[00:37:30] So I think it's like a hundred pushups, a hundred sit-ups, a hundred something.
[00:37:34] And then like a certain miles that he has to do every day or he gets penalized.
[00:37:39] Uh, and penalized means he goes to another world and basically has to run for his life.
[00:37:45] Cause at first, and then later he just uses it to grind.
[00:37:48] Yeah.
[00:37:49] But basically the first part of the show is him basically grinding, like him leveling up.
[00:37:55] Um, grinding, learning, um, different skills, like kind of obtaining different, basically he's doing the RPG thing.
[00:38:01] And it's really interesting too, because like, he also has like being the player character, he has his own rules and tools and weapons.
[00:38:09] Like he actually has like inventory storage.
[00:38:12] She doesn't have to carry stuff on his back.
[00:38:14] Like he can store stuff in this video game inventory, but he also starts collecting different items like keys, like keys that open portals to worlds that no one else can access.
[00:38:25] And that's where we were talking about the hellscape, but because of the game making him do all these changes, it's also physically changing him as he's leveling up.
[00:38:35] Um, like a video game character would, it also offer fit fitter, taller.
[00:38:42] Like basically there's a scene I joke because this, this show is weirdly horny at times.
[00:38:46] Um, there's a scene where he's in the, he's getting out of the hospital and they have all the nurses and all the nurses are just checking him out.
[00:38:53] I'm like, this is the weirdest part of this anime.
[00:38:56] It's a great part.
[00:38:58] Um, daddy's home for those who are server.
[00:39:02] Um, but there's also a cool scene where, um, it also changes like just how like doing random things day to day, like completely will change for him.
[00:39:11] Like there's a scene where he gets back from a mission where he gained, he basically gained a shit ton of money.
[00:39:18] And he was basically telling his sister who is one of the best characters in the show.
[00:39:22] Um, that, uh, bills are going to be good for a while.
[00:39:25] Like we're not gonna have to worry.
[00:39:26] Um, oh, I bought, bought chicken too.
[00:39:28] And they're eating, uh, they're eating their dinner and he's drinking a couple of beers.
[00:39:32] And like, he discovers when he drinks a beer, it actually gives him stat buffs.
[00:39:37] Well, he was also testing too, because like some of the buffs that he is getting, like he has an intel, he has a tolerance to poison.
[00:39:45] Now he is like a poison buff.
[00:39:47] So when he drinks the beer, he can't get drunk.
[00:39:49] So that's also what he was testing.
[00:39:51] He couldn't get drunk, but he was also leveling up his resistance.
[00:39:54] No.
[00:39:55] Yeah.
[00:39:56] Um, so it's, he has like, which led to, I will say it led to a great scene where like his sister comes and checks on him before going to bed.
[00:40:03] And she's like, she's like, whoa, easy on the beer, bro.
[00:40:06] Cause he drank the entire fucking 12 pack.
[00:40:09] Yeah.
[00:40:10] So to kind of get back into the movie, basically the first recap of the first season covers some of like the biggest fights in it.
[00:40:17] Um, so I believe it covers like the first time he goes into a separate dungeon.
[00:40:22] Yeah.
[00:40:22] Then, then it covers probably one of the biggest, um, scenes, which is when he goes on, he start, he goes on a quest with, um, a party of, um, party of six.
[00:40:35] Um, no healer.
[00:40:37] And then two randos, which is himself.
[00:40:40] And then, um,
[00:40:42] Genu, no, not some other, some other Genu.
[00:40:45] Genu is right.
[00:40:45] I think Genu is right.
[00:40:47] Uh,
[00:40:48] there's Gene Wu and then Gene Oo, I think.
[00:40:51] Anyway.
[00:40:52] He is the, um, he is the young heir to one of the, uh, to the, the construction company.
[00:40:59] I think it is Genu cause I think it's Genu construction.
[00:41:02] Um, but he ends up going that rate.
[00:41:05] The biggest, the biggest plot point of that is, which is one of the probably big points of the game is that the party ends up turning on them and they basically leave them left for dead in the dungeon.
[00:41:15] Cause they're, they're essentially scam artists where they just, they use this thing to trick these poor saps in, uh, and then kill them off.
[00:41:23] And then they get the, uh, they get all the money.
[00:41:26] It's, it's a, it's a very RPG thing.
[00:41:30] Yeah.
[00:41:31] But it doesn't work out because Gene, Gene Wu is, there's also a thing called like a false ranker.
[00:41:36] And at first, like the, that's what they think he is.
[00:41:40] Excuse me.
[00:41:41] That's what they think he is, but he's not.
[00:41:44] He's complex.
[00:41:45] He's his own thing.
[00:41:45] He's leveling up.
[00:41:46] He is not, he doesn't play by the rules of the world.
[00:41:50] He plays by the rules of the game.
[00:41:53] Yeah.
[00:41:54] And in that scene, basically like they ended up coming in and they're like, what the hell are you beat the boss?
[00:41:59] And then they find out who the other guy is, which is a rich kid who they don't want to kill because if they killed him, they'd probably be in trouble.
[00:42:07] So they said, you gotta kill.
[00:42:09] Yeah.
[00:42:10] So they say, you gotta kill Gene Wu.
[00:42:12] And he's like, no, I'm not.
[00:42:13] So then they start, they go after Gene Wu.
[00:42:17] But then one thing that happens to Gene Wu is when he's in a danger situation, the game basically says, all right, these guys are your enemies now.
[00:42:27] Kill them.
[00:42:28] Or you die.
[00:42:30] Face the penalty.
[00:42:31] And he basically has to kill them all.
[00:42:34] And like, well, like the literal, his penalty for not listening is like, you will die.
[00:42:38] Yeah.
[00:42:39] So he doesn't have a choice unless he wants to die.
[00:42:43] So he ends up like killing them all brutally.
[00:42:47] But one of the game literally has a mechanic like where it basically, he has this inner monologue where he's like, the game is telling me what to do in my life.
[00:42:54] I am now a slave to the system.
[00:42:56] Oh, yeah.
[00:42:56] Basically.
[00:42:57] That's what comes up a lot.
[00:42:59] So it ends up covering a lot of the major scenes like it goes over eventually him in, I think, Genu.
[00:43:06] And Genu is like, hey, this guy's probably gonna like, make it.
[00:43:11] So let's pair up together and do a lot of dungeons because he wants to open his own hunting agent.
[00:43:18] It's because his, well, his dad wants to start his own one.
[00:43:21] So he's kind of working for that.
[00:43:23] But I'm pretty sure he's going loose cannon and he's gonna start his own separate.
[00:43:27] His dad, he, he like doesn't believe in like Genu because Genu is only a certain rank.
[00:43:32] So I think it's a mix of that as well.
[00:43:35] But Genu started on his own regardless.
[00:43:39] But they end up showing them kind of going out hunting with groups and like Genu just able to.
[00:43:44] My favorite part is the way he basically gets all these like C rank dungeons and they need a party.
[00:43:51] So the way is they get a bunch of no, no lives and like no name hunters that don't give a shit.
[00:43:55] Drunks, homes with people.
[00:43:57] Like, and they're basically like, so we're going to handle this on ourselves and you guys just get to hang around and we'll pay you after.
[00:44:03] And they're all like, whatever.
[00:44:05] Yeah.
[00:44:06] And then they proceed to just go through like 12 dungeons and they're like, all right, here's your pay.
[00:44:10] Let's go everybody.
[00:44:11] Yeah.
[00:44:12] And then another big point too, is he actually ends up regrouping.
[00:44:17] He ends up taking another quest.
[00:44:18] Like he gets a meeting while he's kind of waiting on Genu for more.
[00:44:21] As he says, figures can't be choosers.
[00:44:24] Yeah.
[00:44:24] So he ends up going and he actually ends up running into the mentor guy and the girl as well as two other members who are in that double dungeon event.
[00:44:33] Um, but the catch of this one is that suddenly one of the organized, like one of the hunter association cars pulls up and three criminals come in and they're basically working on bail.
[00:44:45] But they die.
[00:44:47] A lot of people die.
[00:44:49] Most people dies because surprise that the guy that's the, the guy from the association is secretly a scumbag.
[00:44:55] Yeah.
[00:44:56] He's just a fricking murderer.
[00:44:58] And he's just, one of my, one of my favorite lines is like when, uh, uh, a Jinu is fighting him.
[00:45:04] And then like, it's like, you should really cut down on the bloodlust.
[00:45:07] You've gotten the system's attention now.
[00:45:09] And the system's literally going like, kill the enemy.
[00:45:12] No.
[00:45:12] Yeah.
[00:45:13] And that's one thing is like, if people's bloodlust is too much, um, it, it does like change.
[00:45:18] Like the system makes them a target, but that scene, I wish they showed more of it during the movie.
[00:45:23] Well, yeah, it cuts all the development from that scene out in the movie.
[00:45:27] Cause there's the whole backstory with the two guys that get killed where it's like, they're, they regret ditching, uh, leaving like they did, but they have families and it shows both their families.
[00:45:35] And I'm like, Oh, they're going to die.
[00:45:36] Yeah.
[00:45:37] You know, right away.
[00:45:38] If they show the family, there's, they're not going to, they're not going to make it.
[00:45:43] So that was, they make a whole, well, they made the whole point about, he's like, this is my last mission.
[00:45:46] Like shit.
[00:45:47] And the wife's like, I need, you need to retire, please.
[00:45:49] Yeah.
[00:45:51] And I'm just like, yep, he's dying.
[00:45:53] Like, cause we already know this.
[00:45:55] And then I think that's like one of the only other major fight.
[00:45:59] There's other fights in the final.
[00:46:01] Yeah.
[00:46:01] The final scene they show is his, the, the re the rank change.
[00:46:05] Yes.
[00:46:05] Class change.
[00:46:06] No, the job, the job class change mission.
[00:46:10] Um, which he ends up going, which is probably one of the coolest fights in the show too.
[00:46:14] It is.
[00:46:15] They didn't abridge this one too badly, but they did abridge it to a degree.
[00:46:18] Yeah.
[00:46:19] A little bit, but I actually thought it was pretty good because the first one in he fights,
[00:46:23] um, I'm freaking farting on the red knight.
[00:46:27] Oh, egress egress, the red knight.
[00:46:30] And, um, he ends up fighting him.
[00:46:32] And then it's like one of those psych the dungeon just started after it was like, he
[00:46:37] beats egress who you think is the boss.
[00:46:38] It's like, no, he's just a really powerful enemy.
[00:46:40] That wasn't a warmup.
[00:46:42] Well, the boss wasn't actually a boss.
[00:46:44] It was a, it was a challenge fight.
[00:46:46] Yeah.
[00:46:47] Uh, and what's happened like when he goes into like after egress is defeated, he basically
[00:46:51] has like this whole army of like metal of knights and armor who just keep responding,
[00:46:58] responding, responding.
[00:46:59] They're not responding.
[00:47:00] There's just more of them keep appearing because there's also mages.
[00:47:03] Um, and he gets to the point where he can't go on anymore, but luckily he didn't complete
[00:47:07] his daily tasks.
[00:47:08] So he gets sent to another world where he's able to level up and up because every time
[00:47:12] he levels up, all of his stats go back.
[00:47:15] So he gets like healed and everything gets like his mana goes back and he basically gets
[00:47:20] a reset in like a video game.
[00:47:22] So he goes back, he's able to win.
[00:47:25] And then his job changes from, uh, I think it was like Wolf Hunter.
[00:47:29] Like it was like, he was like a weird mix between like a wolf hunter and like an assassin
[00:47:34] build.
[00:47:35] Yeah.
[00:47:35] Yeah.
[00:47:36] But then he gets title of, um, Necromancer.
[00:47:40] Well, it's interesting because when he, his previous setup, like he was basically kind
[00:47:44] of a hodgepodge of a whole bunch of different setups.
[00:47:47] Like he, and I think that's going to stay.
[00:47:49] Cause I think he's the, he can learn so many different skills cause he's the player.
[00:47:54] Just like in runescape, you can learn all the different skills, you know, you can level
[00:47:58] up your magic, your fighting, your health prayer.
[00:48:01] Like there's so many different skills.
[00:48:02] I'm pretty sure here he then obtains his actual like real ability.
[00:48:06] That's going to be his signature, which is the Necromancy skill.
[00:48:09] Yeah.
[00:48:10] The shadow army.
[00:48:11] Where he can basically, if he defeats an enemy, he can just resurrect them.
[00:48:15] Yeah.
[00:48:16] And depending on the skill level.
[00:48:17] Resurrect their soul and create, have them be a part of the army of shadows that he
[00:48:22] can summon.
[00:48:23] But very specific enemies.
[00:48:25] Like, cause they, the last thing it shows before it finally cuts to the actual game.
[00:48:30] Or I mean the actual, like the, the new content for the movie was, it shows him resurrect.
[00:48:36] Egress.
[00:48:38] Yes.
[00:48:38] And when you, he resurrects a very specific enemy, like a powerful one, he actually gets
[00:48:42] to name them and they become kind of like, like a familiar, like that he can summon.
[00:48:48] Yeah.
[00:48:49] They become a little bit more special.
[00:48:51] Um, and those ones might take longer.
[00:48:54] They might take multiple tries, you know, like in a video game.
[00:48:58] And if he's not at the appropriate level, he might not be able to put them in his shadow
[00:49:03] army at all, which doesn't happen with Egress, but does happen in the movie.
[00:49:08] Egress.
[00:49:08] They have to show you that like, he has to really, um, it kind of showcases that it really
[00:49:14] takes a lot of effort and like, he kind of basically has to use all of his will to get
[00:49:19] Egress to join him.
[00:49:20] Well, and like, I loved his speech where he's like, he's like, you've been waiting for your
[00:49:25] king to return.
[00:49:26] You shouldn't be staying here anymore.
[00:49:28] You should follow me and join me on the path to like greatness.
[00:49:32] And then like Egress.
[00:49:33] And I love his like command to arise is just so spooky and like creepy, but like the perfect,
[00:49:39] just simple word of like to summon the shadow army.
[00:49:42] Um, and like Egress is now basically the leader of his army.
[00:49:48] Oh yeah.
[00:49:48] It was a, it was a cool like scene.
[00:49:51] And then of course, after that we go directly to, um, it basically hard cuts to what is essentially
[00:49:58] going to be the first couple episodes of season two.
[00:50:00] I'm assuming they're probably, they're going to be fleshed out a little more when the actual
[00:50:03] episodes.
[00:50:04] Yeah.
[00:50:04] I think they will be because you really couldn't tell between episode to episode either.
[00:50:10] So we'll see like where that break will go in between, but yeah.
[00:50:14] But essentially like it kind of cuts, it picks up right where the series left off where like
[00:50:19] his sister was like, uh, bro, you were supposed to come from my student teacher.
[00:50:25] Cause he's exhausted.
[00:50:26] Cause in that time from the dungeon, I think he like went originally at like, like he was in
[00:50:32] there for multiple hours.
[00:50:33] So he got home at like very late.
[00:50:35] So he's just sleeping and he's like, Oh shit, I gotta go.
[00:50:38] Um, I gotta go to my sister's student teacher conference.
[00:50:42] And it's one of the funniest scenes in the movie is when he, um, goes to the school and
[00:50:46] she's like, what the hell?
[00:50:48] Like, what are you wearing?
[00:50:49] Like I'm dressing nice.
[00:50:50] He completely changes his haircut.
[00:50:53] Like he's got a new style, new, like new fit.
[00:50:56] That's not a buzz cut.
[00:50:57] That's a, uh, well, like the, the back, you know, shape, you know, it's a, it's a very
[00:51:05] common hairstyle.
[00:51:06] It's not a buzz cut though.
[00:51:07] Well, I meant like the back.
[00:51:09] Um, no, but he's wearing dressing.
[00:51:12] The new fit though is just because like, he wanted to dress nice for her.
[00:51:16] Cause it's a student teacher conference.
[00:51:17] And of course then we get all the horny high school girls and it's like, Jesus Christ.
[00:51:21] Like every time daddy's home.
[00:51:27] Anyways, I love the fact that he just grabs her face.
[00:51:31] And it's just like, come on.
[00:51:35] I love, I love the sister.
[00:51:36] Cause she's just a snarky.
[00:51:37] She's kind of a snarky.
[00:51:39] She's just a snarky bitch.
[00:51:41] And it's love.
[00:51:41] It's lovely.
[00:51:42] Um, but he has a teacher conference.
[00:51:45] Um, and everything goes well with the sister, but at the end of it, the teacher is like,
[00:51:50] Hey, can I, um, can I talk to you about something like, no,
[00:51:54] For a second there.
[00:51:54] I'm not going to lie.
[00:51:55] I thought the teacher was going to come on to him.
[00:51:57] I thought she was going to ask him out too.
[00:51:59] I also did that, but that's not what happened.
[00:52:01] Um, he, he actually ends up, she ends up asking him to reach out to his sister's friend.
[00:52:08] Um, who also awake.
[00:52:09] She awakened as a hunter and E class hunter.
[00:52:12] Like he originally, she also was in the gang of misfits that they were using on their,
[00:52:17] um, uh, their, their hunting escapades.
[00:52:20] Yes.
[00:52:21] And basically the teacher is like, Hey, she hasn't been, she stopped going to school.
[00:52:25] If there's a way you could convince her to go back to school.
[00:52:28] Like that would be for her best benefit because she's an E class and he knows from experience,
[00:52:33] like as an E class, like, yes, you can be a hunter, but like, you're either going to die
[00:52:38] in battle or it's not going to be a good time.
[00:52:40] Um, so the teacher's basically asking her to, you know, asking him to get her hopefully
[00:52:46] to come back to school.
[00:52:47] So he ends up going to see her and he ends up taking her along on a mission from, this
[00:52:53] was also cut out of the movie, but at one point he, uh, I think it's the white tiger,
[00:53:00] um, white tiger.
[00:53:03] Yeah.
[00:53:05] Yeah.
[00:53:05] White tiger guild.
[00:53:06] One of their recruiter, top recruiters tries to recruit them because one, they were going
[00:53:11] through all those dungeons and clearing them like instantly.
[00:53:14] So he's like, he knows something's up.
[00:53:16] He doesn't know.
[00:53:17] They know.
[00:53:18] Jinwoo is at the point now where he is so like powerful that like he, it's getting hard
[00:53:23] for him to hide it at this point.
[00:53:24] And a lot of people are taking notice.
[00:53:26] Yeah.
[00:53:27] People are starting to know that something is not right.
[00:53:29] Also, I mean like just the physical thing of going from like wimpy kid to.
[00:53:34] He's got that.
[00:53:36] He's got, he has that aura to him too.
[00:53:38] Like, like there's a great part where they try to recruit him and basically Jinwoo like
[00:53:43] completely just plays this guy and like basically gets him to give him a shit ton of money.
[00:53:48] Yeah.
[00:53:48] For a couple of dungeons.
[00:53:49] And then they find out, oh wait, there was tons of dungeons.
[00:53:52] You got, you got played, sir.
[00:53:54] Which was pretty great.
[00:53:55] But he's also so fucking terrified of Jinwoo because Jinwoo could probably, Jinwoo is like
[00:54:00] so powerful now he can hide his abilities and shit.
[00:54:02] And I think he's just so intrigued that he's also just like, I will do anything to keep
[00:54:07] learning about this guy.
[00:54:09] So Jinwoo basically reach out to them.
[00:54:12] It's like, hey, could I bring this girl on a mission just to see what it's like on a C
[00:54:18] class expedition because he basically, his goal is to try and scare her to stop being
[00:54:24] a hunter, which, you know, maybe not his best choice, but.
[00:54:29] But what happens.
[00:54:31] Yeah.
[00:54:32] It wasn't supposed to go how it was supposed to go.
[00:54:34] It was basically a training dungeon for members of the white tiger guild.
[00:54:38] So it was a A class.
[00:54:40] It was like one A class, several B class, C class.
[00:54:44] And then they were the only two.
[00:54:45] I think there might've been maybe a D, but then.
[00:54:47] I think the D was the guy that, the one guy that survives.
[00:54:53] Yeah.
[00:54:54] So yeah, a lot of people are going to die.
[00:54:56] So the party goes in and we learn about something called, which we didn't learn before is when
[00:55:02] a gate goes red.
[00:55:03] So they're going into the dungeon and Jinwoo immediately knows something's not right as
[00:55:08] soon as he steps in.
[00:55:09] And then of course the world starts changing and the gate goes red.
[00:55:13] And he, before he can, before the gate completely closes, because one thing about a red gate
[00:55:18] is that once the people are in and it turns red, you can't get out until you clear the
[00:55:23] dungeon.
[00:55:24] You also can't get in.
[00:55:25] Yeah.
[00:55:26] You can't get out and no one can get in.
[00:55:28] So before.
[00:55:28] Not even an S.
[00:55:29] Not even an S class.
[00:55:31] Which we'll talk about.
[00:55:32] So he shoves his head out and is like, it's turning red.
[00:55:36] Like, I don't know.
[00:55:38] Call the association.
[00:55:39] Call the association.
[00:55:40] But there's really nothing they can do.
[00:55:42] So they go in and immediately they are in this whole different world.
[00:55:47] It started, they were originally walking in a cave and suddenly they're in this barren
[00:55:51] land, this land, snowy winter land.
[00:55:54] And immediately someone gets ice arrowed to the fucking face.
[00:55:57] Yeah.
[00:55:58] Yeah.
[00:55:58] Fuck that guy in particular.
[00:56:00] But as that guy was shot, Jinwoo also protects the girl.
[00:56:06] He was the E class.
[00:56:07] He was with his sister's friend from getting shot, which catches the eye of the ice elves
[00:56:14] that are their enemies.
[00:56:17] Which.
[00:56:21] Which is really funny too, because they, the A class is a big meathead and he's basically
[00:56:25] like taking control because he doesn't, he thinks Jinwoo is, is an E class.
[00:56:29] Well, Jinwoo is technically an E class, but he thinks he's.
[00:56:32] His rank is an E class, but he is not an E class at this point in terms of physical abilities.
[00:56:38] He's not an E class, but from his.
[00:56:40] I love how they all record.
[00:56:42] I know.
[00:56:42] I just love how they all underestimate him.
[00:56:44] I mean, well, this guy's fucking ripped and it's like.
[00:56:47] Yeah.
[00:56:48] Well, they can't see that underneath.
[00:56:50] But.
[00:56:51] It's a fucking massive.
[00:56:52] How can they not see it?
[00:56:54] People are dumb billed.
[00:56:55] They only see the ranks.
[00:56:56] Um, but so the group splits off and he, the asshole A class guy is like, all right, I'm
[00:57:04] only taking B and above one of the D, the D class guy who lives.
[00:57:08] Who wants to join him.
[00:57:10] And he's just, he basically pushes it.
[00:57:12] It was like, no, you can't stay behind.
[00:57:13] Stay with the losers.
[00:57:15] Basically is what he says.
[00:57:16] One of the, the, I think she was a B class mage.
[00:57:19] She's like, can I just stay with them?
[00:57:22] And he was like, yeah, whatever.
[00:57:24] Fuck you, bitch.
[00:57:24] And she was like, fuck you, dude.
[00:57:27] I'm living.
[00:57:28] She took, she took.
[00:57:30] Well, first off, she was the only person there with a significant character design.
[00:57:33] So you know, she was important.
[00:57:34] Well, and she saw Jinwoo.
[00:57:37] Protect.
[00:57:38] Catch that ice arrow.
[00:57:40] Yeah.
[00:57:41] And she immediately knew.
[00:57:42] Okay.
[00:57:42] Like this guy is not an E class.
[00:57:44] And I think she actually says it in her head at one point.
[00:57:47] Um, so they split and.
[00:57:50] Jinwoo's group is thriving because one.
[00:57:53] Jinwoo just has.
[00:57:54] Jinwoo does everything.
[00:57:56] He does everything.
[00:57:57] He has video game tools.
[00:57:59] So he basically is able to go in his inventory store and buy a bunch of winter coats so they
[00:58:03] don't freeze.
[00:58:04] Yeah.
[00:58:04] While the other group stupidly is just starts fighting a bunch of.
[00:58:09] It's like.
[00:58:09] It's annihilated.
[00:58:10] It's annihilated.
[00:58:11] Well, they fight some of the.
[00:58:13] So the main enemies of this area are polar bear, like ice polar bears, which polar bears
[00:58:19] are icy anyways.
[00:58:20] And then ice elves.
[00:58:21] So they're doing okay with the polar bears, not.
[00:58:24] But ice elves are fucking bastards.
[00:58:26] Yeah.
[00:58:27] And the ice elves are also where the boss is as well.
[00:58:31] Um, and Jinwoo ends up, you know, they end up fighting and like, well, the other four are just having a good time camping.
[00:58:37] Jinwoo is like, I'm going to take care of this bear problem and goes to the bear cave.
[00:58:42] And I was just like, Hey guys, you want to join my army?
[00:58:45] Well, first he tests the shadow army.
[00:58:47] And then he's like, you know what?
[00:58:48] We could use some bear reinforcements.
[00:58:50] Well, he tests the shadow army, but then he also has egress go out and finish off the bear leader.
[00:58:55] Yes.
[00:58:56] Um, which is cool because he actually gets to see how much what egress can do.
[00:59:00] Um, and it's also interesting to see like, all right, the shadow army is such a cool tool, but it also is going to use up a lot of his mana.
[00:59:08] Hmm.
[00:59:10] So that was interesting.
[00:59:11] The bear army.
[00:59:15] The one thing that I wasn't really sure about though, because they didn't really explain this in the movie.
[00:59:21] Maybe I'll get into it later.
[00:59:22] He, if they show him lose all of his mana.
[00:59:25] Yeah.
[00:59:26] But then, um, egress was still able to do stuff.
[00:59:28] So I wonder if egress runs off as his own.
[00:59:30] Um, so the, I think it was more like, so the mana was used to revive the soldiers.
[00:59:36] That's what it said in the movie.
[00:59:38] So every time, like one of them was slashed and brought back, that's where, so that's when egress was slashed.
[00:59:44] And then he was still there.
[00:59:45] Like he had already summoned him with this mana.
[00:59:48] So basically he had egress until egress was slain.
[00:59:51] Yeah.
[00:59:51] It's how it works from what I saw.
[00:59:54] Um, cause the mana was being used to regenerate them.
[00:59:57] Got.
[00:59:57] Okay.
[00:59:57] That makes more sense then.
[00:59:58] Um, but he ends up taking all the bears, his army and he ends up going back to the campsite.
[01:00:05] But of course the little, the dingus, the dingus, a class guy, like who's utterly annihilated at this point.
[01:00:13] He's running back and he just stumbles upon all the bears fucking dead.
[01:00:17] And he's like, what the, what the hell happened?
[01:00:20] And then he ends up, which he also just like leaves all of his friends.
[01:00:24] Well, they're already dead, but like everyone's behind.
[01:00:27] Um, and, but also, so in the background, it's also cutting back between what's happening on the regular world versus in the game world.
[01:00:37] And, um, we didn't mention this before, but the, so remember when we talked about how he ended up having to kill all the people who tried to kill him in that dungeon.
[01:00:48] Uh, so one of the guys was related to a famous S class hunter.
[01:00:53] Uh, and when that happened, that S class hunter was not very happy that his brother was dead.
[01:00:59] Even though his brother was such an asshole.
[01:01:02] Even though his brother was a dick, um, he was pretty mad that he was dead.
[01:01:07] And he was like, Hmm, only two of them survived.
[01:01:10] And the association is like, Hey, it was just like, it was not a murder.
[01:01:17] It was just what happens in a dungeon sometimes.
[01:01:19] And he's like, no, my brother was murdered.
[01:01:22] I'm going to kill these two.
[01:01:23] Uh, and he's over, I think he's in America and he ends up coming back.
[01:01:27] Um, but he ends up going to originally.
[01:01:31] So the first person who shows up is the white tiger, um, guild leader, because this was a white tiger guild training mission.
[01:01:40] So he's showing up for his team and he tries to get into the red portal, but he can't.
[01:01:46] Um, but then this other guy shows up and he's like, Hey, is Jimu in there?
[01:01:50] I want to kill him.
[01:01:52] And I love their whole reasoning.
[01:01:54] They're like, they're like, he's like, I'm after the other guy, but I want to kill this guy just because I feel like murdering.
[01:02:00] I just want to murder someone.
[01:02:02] Uh, I love the fact too, that it implies that S ranks are kind of, they're above the law.
[01:02:08] Yeah.
[01:02:09] Basically because their whole reasoning, I thought this was very compelling where he's like, what are you going to do arrest me?
[01:02:14] Try.
[01:02:16] Yeah.
[01:02:16] Cause they're so powerful.
[01:02:18] Really?
[01:02:19] What is the world going to do?
[01:02:20] Because there's a disaster level.
[01:02:22] Like if there's an S class portal, like that opens up only the S classes can go in and save people.
[01:02:29] So like, there's really nothing you can do.
[01:02:32] Oh, one thing too, we forgot to mention about the red class, the red portals too, is that even if they entered a C class dungeon, the red class is usually an A or above in terms of enemies.
[01:02:46] So they're going in and basically, and that's also to show you how strong Jean Mu is at this point.
[01:02:51] And that's why also the A class was struggling so much because it's not a C class anymore.
[01:02:57] It's basically probably an S class at this point.
[01:03:01] But yeah, I still couldn't get over the other party members just having a picnic and partying the whole time.
[01:03:07] Well, because so the A class guy comes in, he's like, what the fuck?
[01:03:10] Why are you in jackets?
[01:03:11] Why are you having fun?
[01:03:12] What the heck?
[01:03:13] And he basically is about to kill them.
[01:03:15] And Jean Mu just shows up and it's just like one shots.
[01:03:17] Like he just like similar.
[01:03:19] Yeah, he does the literal like anime just like, bling, gone.
[01:03:23] Like, but of course, you know, with that A class guy, guess who he brings along?
[01:03:30] The Ice Elves.
[01:03:32] The army of Ice Elves.
[01:03:33] And the very first, which was probably one of the best parts of the movie, not because of the actual scene,
[01:03:38] but because of the background noise happening in the theater is the leader of the Ice Elves is like,
[01:03:44] Oh, my, one of my warriors noticed that you were the strongest of the group and he wants to fight you.
[01:03:51] And then, and before he can even finish his sentence, Jean Mu just off, lobs off his head.
[01:03:55] He's like, he's like, and man, what do you want?
[01:03:59] I'm, I want to go home.
[01:04:00] There was a guy in the theater though, who literally just screamed in the background.
[01:04:04] Yeah, fuck your shit up.
[01:04:06] Or it was like, oh, like, one guy definitely screamed.
[01:04:10] One guy definitely screamed.
[01:04:11] Fuck his shit up.
[01:04:12] I was like, okay.
[01:04:14] Through most of like the times where they either one shot at someone or someone's head went off, someone was like, fuck yeah.
[01:04:22] There was a morbid ass like fucker in that theater.
[01:04:25] Cause every time someone died brutally, this guy laughed and I was just like, I'm a little afraid.
[01:04:30] One of the best things was, I forgot to mention it.
[01:04:32] So when the A class guy first shows up there and it's like, what the fuck?
[01:04:37] He ends up doing that anime scene where they're looking down and their eyes are all big.
[01:04:42] And everyone in the theater was just laughing.
[01:04:46] Cause it looked so stupid, but in the best way.
[01:04:49] And that was a great highlight too.
[01:04:51] Um, but eventually, you know, Jean Mu ends up fighting them.
[01:04:55] Like all of the other ones, Jean was just like, get out of the fucking way.
[01:04:58] We get that, we get that amazing like scene where right before that there he's, he's having a conversation with the leader who can talk, which was a new, a new development.
[01:05:07] We hadn't had yet.
[01:05:08] It's also, so the leader could talk, but he was talking in the elven language and no one could understand except for Jean Mu because he's the player.
[01:05:17] Yeah.
[01:05:18] It's just like the game is translated.
[01:05:19] It's basically like any RPG where you can just talk to anybody.
[01:05:23] Um, but it leads, it brings up a whole point where they're like, see, we're, we're programmed to kill humans, but our, our programming doesn't tell us to kill you because you are different.
[01:05:34] Yeah.
[01:05:35] And he almost actually tries to at first be like, okay, like we, if you give us your, the humans, because they're basically calling him not a human at this point too, which is a interesting concept.
[01:05:46] Like, I'm wondering where that's going to go.
[01:05:50] And he's, they're basically like, if you give us the humans, we'll let you go because you're cool.
[01:05:54] Um, that's basically the mindset.
[01:05:56] Well, it's cause they, they know that he's kind of powerful.
[01:05:59] And, and Jean was just like, nah, fam, they're my friends.
[01:06:03] Also, I, this girl is my younger sister's best friend.
[01:06:07] I'm not going to let her die.
[01:06:09] So he ends up fighting them.
[01:06:10] And the guy's like, Ooh, you would want army.
[01:06:12] And he's like, boom, I got an army, which was also.
[01:06:15] So, but there was also that scene where like, he was kind of like, explain to me then what about your programming and the, the ice elf starts to tell it.
[01:06:22] And then the game like kind of glitches out.
[01:06:24] And it's kind of like this whole implication that there's more going on that we, than we know about at the moment.
[01:06:29] We, yeah.
[01:06:30] Which was also very interesting.
[01:06:32] So the fighting starts and his army is just killing those fucking elves.
[01:06:36] And he's taking on the, um, he's taking on the boss, but he knows he's not as strong as the boss at this point.
[01:06:42] So he is kind of struggling and he's, egress is helping him, but he's like, all right, at one point he goes, I need someone a little stronger.
[01:06:50] And he's like an egg.
[01:06:52] Like, I think he says an a class or stronger.
[01:06:54] And, uh, the a class guy starts running over and is like, I'm going to kill you.
[01:06:59] Well, the elf is also trying to kill him.
[01:07:01] And he's like, the most savage fucking scene in this movie, which was epic, but also like, holy fuck.
[01:07:07] He just straight up has egress kill the a class so he can resurrect him as another familiar.
[01:07:13] And I was like, yep.
[01:07:14] God damn.
[01:07:15] That honestly was one of the most.
[01:07:19] Badass satisfying scenes in the movie.
[01:07:21] Like, I was so dark though.
[01:07:23] Like, holy shit.
[01:07:24] It was, but honestly, like he deserved it.
[01:07:27] He was a piece of shit.
[01:07:29] Um, he was a meat.
[01:07:30] He was a meat head.
[01:07:31] And his shadow army guy is also a meat head, if not stupider.
[01:07:36] So he is just an exaggeration.
[01:07:39] And they end up basically kicking ass of the, um, elf boss and which ends up clearing the dungeon.
[01:07:46] And then one of the best scenes is now this like Goliath shadow.
[01:07:51] Now it's just being like, he's going like Patrick when he, um, he's like, we have technology.
[01:08:00] What did he name him again?
[01:08:01] Like, I forget.
[01:08:02] I don't know, but he was already done with him at the end.
[01:08:06] He's like, huh?
[01:08:06] Am I going to regret?
[01:08:08] Reviving you at this point?
[01:08:09] He's like, he's like Phil before I regret.
[01:08:11] I regret bringing you back.
[01:08:12] And the best part is like Egress.
[01:08:14] Like, like the, the, I forget his name, but he like turns to Egress and Egress is like walking away from him.
[01:08:21] Like, yeah, get the fuck away from me.
[01:08:22] And then like all the other shadows are like, ugh, like get away.
[01:08:25] We all hate him.
[01:08:27] Um, but they end up going back.
[01:08:30] And, uh, immediately, well at one point, so the guy who's trying to kill him ends up leaving because he's like, he's probably fucking dead by, um, he's not.
[01:08:39] Uh, and then he ends up going like, it ends up just being the four of them leaving.
[01:08:45] So they come out and the white tiger guild master all might is basically like, he's voiced by, he's voiced by all might.
[01:08:54] So he's all might in my mind.
[01:08:56] Um, Chris Sabat, Chris Sabat, all might.
[01:08:59] Uh, he was really channeling all might with that voice.
[01:09:01] I'm just going to say it.
[01:09:02] Um, he, and he, he's either Zorro, Vegeta or all might to me.
[01:09:08] Like it's those three voices.
[01:09:11] He did pick a low before he did Zorro.
[01:09:13] Well, it sounds like Zorro's just pick a low.
[01:09:16] Let's go.
[01:09:19] He's Zorro.
[01:09:20] Um, anyways, so he ends up like, he's like, oh, yeah, when he first see farts, when he first sees the two, sorry, kids, first sees the two come out.
[01:09:31] He's like, oh, yeah, they're making it back.
[01:09:33] And then it's only Jean Wu and the E class girl that come out.
[01:09:36] And then the portal closes.
[01:09:38] He's like, what?
[01:09:38] Where's everyone else?
[01:09:40] Cause he's expecting the A class to basically lead them out and all his bees to be fine.
[01:09:44] But no, they're all dead.
[01:09:45] Um, just, just this one significant girl and some rando basically survived.
[01:09:51] Yeah.
[01:09:52] And he's like, what?
[01:09:54] And he's trying to talk to Jean Wu.
[01:09:56] And like, Jean was basic.
[01:09:59] Like he basically, he grabs Jean Wu's shoulder and he's like, I wasn't done talking to you.
[01:10:03] And Jean was like, you should be thanking me.
[01:10:05] I'm the reason your, your guy, these guys are even alive at this point.
[01:10:09] Shoves them off as like, let's go.
[01:10:10] And he gets in his little Jeep and leaves.
[01:10:13] Well, there was that fact, the point where he looks him in the eyes and basically just says all that stuff.
[01:10:18] And I like the scene where like the, the, the guild master, like he backs off and he immediately just goes, he's like, all right, let him go.
[01:10:27] Um, and then he goes, we need that guy in our guild.
[01:10:29] Like now recruit that guy, whatever possible, but it's not going to happen.
[01:10:33] He's not going to, I don't think he will.
[01:10:35] Yeah.
[01:10:35] The recruiter already knows like that's not going to happen.
[01:10:38] So if it does happen, it's going to be a very minor thing.
[01:10:42] And then he's going to switch guilds at some point.
[01:10:44] If it does, I don't think it will, but if it did happen, it would just be very brief.
[01:10:49] Um, but yeah, and that's basically where it ends.
[01:10:51] And he brings the other girl home and she's like, I can't wait for the next one.
[01:10:54] And he's like, fuck my plan.
[01:10:57] It didn't work at all.
[01:10:59] Um, but maybe, maybe, maybe it did.
[01:11:02] So hopefully she goes back to school and that's basically where it left us.
[01:11:05] And it just left us going, I want season two.
[01:11:09] And then there were, they played the credits played.
[01:11:11] There was no after credit scene despite a half of us waiting.
[01:11:13] Yeah.
[01:11:14] And the couple next to me, I was watching the movie.
[01:11:18] They were so mad.
[01:11:19] Like after the movie, they were like, I paid like $20 for this.
[01:11:22] Like that expensive.
[01:11:26] It was some price, but like they were even.
[01:11:28] They were very salty about it.
[01:11:30] I'm just like, I'm like, geez.
[01:11:31] I mean, like, honestly, I was fine with it.
[01:11:34] I got to see the first two episodes before most people.
[01:11:37] And it's kind of holding me over until we get it next month.
[01:11:41] I didn't hate it.
[01:11:42] Like you seem to think I do.
[01:11:44] I was just kind of like, because I had watched it literally a week ago.
[01:11:47] I was like, I just saw all of this.
[01:11:50] Yeah.
[01:11:51] Well, I had seen it a little while.
[01:11:53] If you had watched it when I first told you, you would have liked it better.
[01:11:56] So you usually see it.
[01:11:57] No, I probably still would have.
[01:11:58] I probably still would have been like, I just saw this.
[01:12:01] Beats.
[01:12:02] Beats.
[01:12:02] Beats.
[01:12:03] Anyways.
[01:12:03] But yeah, that's where.
[01:12:05] Oh, and then we, when we got up and I looked over.
[01:12:07] So I had a bunch of people.
[01:12:09] Like it was people who showed up in a group and they basically all sat in like the rest
[01:12:13] of the road together.
[01:12:14] So the guy was saying to number one, he was a little stinky.
[01:12:17] He kind of smelled like stereotypical.
[01:12:20] Yeah.
[01:12:20] I kind of like a My Hero Academia fan.
[01:12:22] That's the best way to describe it.
[01:12:23] A convention goer.
[01:12:25] Yeah.
[01:12:25] He was a little stinky.
[01:12:26] And I was like, Ooh, you kind of, you know, I was like, whatever, like a smash
[01:12:30] brothers player.
[01:12:32] It happens.
[01:12:33] And you can't control that.
[01:12:35] But then I look over and I'm like these pieces of the shit left that theater disgusting.
[01:12:40] Like they threw popcorn on the floor.
[01:12:42] They have their shit everywhere.
[01:12:43] All their trash was everywhere.
[01:12:44] They didn't even like try to like hidey up.
[01:12:47] Be courteous.
[01:12:48] You know, if you bring food in, just throw it.
[01:12:49] There's a trash can outside.
[01:12:51] Throw it out.
[01:12:51] Like be a good person.
[01:12:53] Like, come on.
[01:12:54] So that was funny though, was like, it wasn't even just us.
[01:12:57] Like everyone around was like, what the fuck?
[01:12:59] Like jerks.
[01:13:02] Yeah.
[01:13:02] Yeah.
[01:13:03] Um, you're making us weaves look bad.
[01:13:07] Yeah.
[01:13:07] That's never going to go away.
[01:13:09] Um, but yeah, no, it was, it was good.
[01:13:13] I mean, I, I want to watch season two so badly now at this point.
[01:13:17] I'm just like, God, Dan, I'm waiting for season two.
[01:13:19] Now.
[01:13:19] I know it's like, it's really painful, but I will be here.
[01:13:23] It's the lineup for January is insane.
[01:13:26] Like it is insane because we have that we have so leveling.
[01:13:30] We have the apocryphal diary.
[01:13:32] We have Sakamoto days.
[01:13:33] We have my happy marriage.
[01:13:36] And I think there was another one too.
[01:13:39] I think there was.
[01:13:41] I'm trying to remember.
[01:13:42] Oh, uh, Dima.
[01:13:44] Dima.
[01:13:45] Yeah.
[01:13:45] We'll have Dima.
[01:13:46] And then parents like another one.
[01:13:48] I'm like certain.
[01:13:50] Um, but I, I am so happy.
[01:13:52] I'm glad that you really liked this show.
[01:13:54] Um, it's interesting.
[01:13:57] Well, I just think the concept is just like, I really like the whole, um, you know, Oh,
[01:14:04] Dr. Stone.
[01:14:05] Yeah.
[01:14:06] Dr. Stone too.
[01:14:07] Uh, for fans of, uh, toilet bound Hanukkah, you have that second season as well, which has
[01:14:13] been a bit.
[01:14:14] And then I'm sure there'll be a bunch of like cool new stuff that, you know, may surprise
[01:14:19] us, but it is going to be a busy, it's going to be a busy line up.
[01:14:24] Well, and probably just some that like the dub hasn't like finished yet.
[01:14:29] Like, cause I know I'll probably watch in January Shangri-La Frontier.
[01:14:33] Stop yawning.
[01:14:34] Shangri-La Frontier season two, because the dub is still in progress.
[01:14:39] So I'll probably watch that.
[01:14:40] So yeah, there's going to be a lot to watch, but I am so excited to watch solo leveling
[01:14:45] season two.
[01:14:47] Yeah.
[01:14:48] Um, but yeah, so that was a fun episode, but anyways, guys, once again.
[01:14:54] Wait, no, no, no.
[01:14:55] The episode is not over.
[01:14:58] You have not said your facts.
[01:15:00] Please say your facts first.
[01:15:02] And then you.
[01:15:03] No.
[01:15:08] Oh, that button's so much fun.
[01:15:12] Unmute me.
[01:15:13] How long was I muted?
[01:15:16] How long?
[01:15:18] Right after you brought up the facts.
[01:15:20] That is so rude.
[01:15:21] You unmute me.
[01:15:23] No, you say the facts now as apology.
[01:15:27] No.
[01:15:32] Anyways.
