[00:00:00] Hey guys, on this episode of Gaming Collecting, me and Alex are once again returning to our The Games That Shaped Us series where we're covering old games from our childhood that we played a lot back in the day. For this one we're actually going to be covering the super bizarre and super unique Sims 2 port for Nintendo DS, which is basically a hotel simulator. It is the weirdest game we've played. It's one of the weirdest Sims games there is. But anyways guys, on with the episode.
[00:00:49] You're stressful! Could you hear that?
[00:00:52] This week's been... Yeah, this week's been stress.
[00:00:56] It's been eventful. I'm glad it's finally over though.
[00:01:01] I got one more day and then...
[00:01:03] Well, no, I'm glad the other thing's finally over.
[00:01:06] Well, yeah, a certain event in the country happened recently.
[00:01:10] I'm assuming you guys can probably take a guess.
[00:01:12] Yeah, you can fill in the blanks there. We're not going to go any deeper into that, but yeah.
[00:01:15] Nah, because we are not in that kind of podcast. We are a good time kind of podcast.
[00:01:22] Yeah, that and let's face it, you know, you don't need to hear it again. So let's move on. How you been otherwise?
[00:01:30] I got this nice stress ball.
[00:01:34] Lovely.
[00:01:39] It's been good. Have you been watching anything good?
[00:01:42] Not really, because I've been either...
[00:01:45] The only free day I had this week was the day of the certain event we mentioned and I just didn't feel like doing anything that day.
[00:01:57] So...
[00:01:57] Yeah, I...
[00:02:01] I watched Free, which is the swimming anime with mainly men. But honestly, it's kind of boring.
[00:02:08] I've got a binge and watched like all of like, all like five seasons of it, but I was like, eh.
[00:02:14] You watched one and you were like, nah.
[00:02:16] I watched one and I like, I gave it like a six. And I was like, it was fine. I wouldn't watch it again.
[00:02:22] And, you know, there's much better. Like, I'd much rather watch Haikyuu if I'm gonna watch my sports. Or Blue One.
[00:02:29] You know, Alex's pantheon of sports is volleyball, soccer, than swimming.
[00:02:33] No, I've watched the basketball ones too.
[00:02:36] Oh yeah. There's quite a few of those.
[00:02:40] I didn't know what to watch after that. So I just was like, I'm gonna finally watch the Deer Garbage show.
[00:02:46] I fucking love it. It's great.
[00:02:53] Yeah.
[00:02:54] It's so... Bill, you need to watch it because like, it's like so scary.
[00:02:59] Like they play this such scary ominous music sometimes.
[00:03:03] I'm like, what the fuck am I watching?
[00:03:06] And like this deer... but the best part is the outro.
[00:03:09] Cause I actually... cause one of the things that it keeps talking about is like the Nara deer park,
[00:03:13] where you give like deer, deer crackers.
[00:03:15] And it shows you how they make the crackers, which is really cute.
[00:03:20] But yeah, she like deered through a wall.
[00:03:23] Like she had her antlers and they didn't fit through the door.
[00:03:26] So she just broke the door.
[00:03:28] And then it just shows the rubble just hitting all the people in the classrooms faces and they're all like bleeding.
[00:03:35] And it's not where I thought the show was going.
[00:03:38] Yeah.
[00:03:39] It's been a good time.
[00:03:40] I'd recommend watching...
[00:03:41] I feel like that's a very good show to keep your mind off of everything going on right now.
[00:03:46] I'd recommend it, people.
[00:03:48] Watch the deer brain rot.
[00:03:52] Lovely.
[00:03:54] Um...
[00:03:55] Yeah, other than that, not a ton has gone on this week.
[00:03:57] I bought it.
[00:03:58] I made a new shelf.
[00:03:58] I have a new shelf in my house.
[00:04:00] I have a new shelf in my house.
[00:04:00] You got me some cream cheese.
[00:04:03] Yeah, I did.
[00:04:03] And I walked across one of the greatest moments I've had in a while where I didn't think this
[00:04:08] through was I'm walking to Alex's place.
[00:04:12] I'm in my workout shorts, a t-shirt, some shoes.
[00:04:16] My hair is soaking wet because I just got out of the shower and I'm just carrying a tub of cream cheese.
[00:04:21] And of course, it's one of those moments where like all the neighbors are just walking
[00:04:24] and they're just giving me the look like, what the fuck is this guy doing?
[00:04:27] Why does this guy have cream cheese?
[00:04:29] Is he gonna huck it at me?
[00:04:31] Uh...
[00:04:32] Yeah, thank you.
[00:04:33] Now I will have cream cheese with my bagels.
[00:04:35] Cause I bought like a big old thing of everything bagels so now I have to eat all the everything
[00:04:39] bagels.
[00:04:40] That was literally...
[00:04:41] You got lucky too cause that was literally the last fucking thing of cream cheese cause
[00:04:45] some monster probably went through there and just ate it all.
[00:04:49] I guess so.
[00:04:50] Well, as long as it wasn't the whipped kind.
[00:04:52] The whipped kind is just weird.
[00:04:53] I don't like it.
[00:04:54] I don't like the whipped kind.
[00:04:55] I like the regular kind.
[00:04:58] Also, Slade today posted a picture in the cursed image gallery of a guy like covered in spaghetti
[00:05:04] and it says I ate too much spaghetti and now I regret it and that's how I felt after eating
[00:05:09] my mac and cheese.
[00:05:12] I saw that today.
[00:05:13] I'm like, I don't...
[00:05:14] Usually the cursed image gallery just makes me go ugh.
[00:05:17] Like the abomination you posted a few days ago.
[00:05:20] But I saw that.
[00:05:21] Oh, you mean the pregnant Pikachu?
[00:05:23] That's all you need to say.
[00:05:25] Um...
[00:05:25] Actually, you know what's funny?
[00:05:27] Like I didn't even find out on Twitter.
[00:05:29] You can see that I screenshotted it from an Instagram reel.
[00:05:33] I'm sure you did.
[00:05:34] They came from Instagram.
[00:05:36] Yeah, that's...
[00:05:36] That doesn't surprise me at all.
[00:05:38] That...
[00:05:39] That disturbed me but the spaghetti on the slate posted that actually got a chuggle out of
[00:05:43] me.
[00:05:43] I was like, yeah.
[00:05:44] That's fun.
[00:05:45] I was like, I'm so excited to it after eating my mac and cheese.
[00:05:47] That's what I felt like.
[00:05:48] I was like, oh, that was so good but now my tummy hurts.
[00:05:53] Yeah.
[00:05:54] I did regret it.
[00:05:55] I regretted the mac and cheesy.
[00:05:58] Ugh.
[00:05:58] It was so good though.
[00:05:59] I love mac and cheese.
[00:06:00] I got the Cracker Barrel mac and cheese.
[00:06:02] It's the best way to go.
[00:06:03] Fight me people.
[00:06:04] I love Cracker Barrel.
[00:06:06] Not just the restaurant.
[00:06:08] I love the mac and cheese and cheese bread.
[00:06:13] What is that?
[00:06:14] What are you drinking?
[00:06:16] A blue moon.
[00:06:18] Speak up.
[00:06:19] Speak up.
[00:06:20] Speak up.
[00:06:20] I didn't hear you.
[00:06:21] It's a blue moon.
[00:06:24] Water ball facts.
[00:06:25] Please say them.
[00:06:27] Say the facts.
[00:06:28] No.
[00:06:28] How many calories?
[00:06:31] How many calories?
[00:06:32] Was it a blue moon?
[00:06:33] There's none because it's a beer.
[00:06:36] It's not supposed to be nutritious.
[00:06:39] All right, blue moon, Belgian, white.
[00:06:45] Nutritional facts.
[00:06:47] I'm Googling it.
[00:06:48] I'm Googling it.
[00:06:49] I'm Googling it.
[00:06:50] Everyone cares about my facts.
[00:06:51] He turned that fucking music off.
[00:06:53] Let's see.
[00:06:53] Let's see.
[00:06:54] We've got, we've got 160.
[00:06:58] We've got 14 grams of carbs.
[00:07:00] 1.9 grams of protein.
[00:07:03] Uh, zero grams of fat.
[00:07:05] Uh, let's see.
[00:07:06] Let's see.
[00:07:07] Let's see.
[00:07:07] Uh, 10 milligrams of sodium.
[00:07:10] Uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, that's all it says on carb manager.com.
[00:07:16] If you want to look at.
[00:07:18] One of these things I just have to get a record scratch sound effect or whenever you stutter and give up.
[00:07:23] Oh, it's best with, it goes best with burgers, buffalo wings, Asian food, Mexican food, spicy food, nutty food, fried food, pizza, and steaks.
[00:07:32] So in other words, it's a beer.
[00:07:33] It goes good with everything.
[00:07:35] Move on.
[00:07:35] Maybe not.
[00:07:36] Did I talk about the carbs?
[00:07:38] Oh, I did talk about it.
[00:07:39] I was on the carb website.
[00:07:40] Uh, it's 5.4% alcohol content.
[00:07:43] Bill.
[00:07:44] Oh, alcoholic.
[00:07:45] How do you?
[00:07:47] Oh, well.
[00:07:48] How do you?
[00:07:48] Aren't you going to ask me what I'm drinking?
[00:07:53] What are you drinking?
[00:07:55] Your nondescript non-beer.
[00:07:57] No, I am drinking a chi forest.
[00:08:01] Cheese sparkling water because I still have these in my fridge.
[00:08:05] I'm trying to get rid of them.
[00:08:06] I've had them for like two months.
[00:08:08] Because you bought them and then you ate your spaghetti and now you were ready.
[00:08:14] Yes, yes.
[00:08:16] Zero sugar.
[00:08:17] Zero calories.
[00:08:18] Lychee fizzy.
[00:08:20] Naturally flavored.
[00:08:22] 11.16 fluid ounces.
[00:08:25] 330 milliliters.
[00:08:27] Uh, uh, uh, uh, zero calories.
[00:08:30] Zero calories.
[00:08:32] Uh, uh, uh, uh, zero sugar.
[00:08:35] Oh, you sound like you're taking a dump whenever you do this.
[00:08:38] I am.
[00:08:39] I am.
[00:08:40] I am.
[00:08:41] Just clip.
[00:08:43] I'm gonna clip that for later.
[00:08:46] I'm not.
[00:08:47] I swear.
[00:08:48] Uh, you can recycle it.
[00:08:55] Um.
[00:08:56] Anyways.
[00:08:57] Anyways.
[00:08:58] Thanks so much for watching you guys.
[00:09:00] This was the world record for the world's shortest and shittiest podcast.
[00:09:03] Oh no, I've done shorter.
[00:09:06] I've probably done shorter.
[00:09:07] Um.
[00:09:08] Uh.
[00:09:11] Uh.
[00:09:11] Moving on.
[00:09:12] So I witnessed another car accident this week.
[00:09:16] You did?
[00:09:17] Yeah, because.
[00:09:18] Were you in it?
[00:09:19] No, but I got stuck in it because it was one of those moments where like there's, so
[00:09:24] we, we have this one main highway that we have to take to get home.
[00:09:28] Um.
[00:09:28] Yes.
[00:09:29] And there's a, there's like a couple moments where you can get off and take back roads beforehand.
[00:09:34] Well.
[00:09:35] Well.
[00:09:35] I can take them before beforehand.
[00:09:38] Oh, oh, oh.
[00:09:39] Well, if you're planning on taking them immediately, but I was trying to get home quickly and I
[00:09:46] got on the highway and it was pretty clear and I was like, oh good.
[00:09:49] So I, I went right past them.
[00:09:51] And then the second I got past the two turn offs, dead stop.
[00:09:54] And I was like, you gotta be fucking kidding me.
[00:09:57] Um.
[00:09:57] Oh yeah.
[00:09:57] Cause that was on election day.
[00:09:59] Right?
[00:10:00] Yeah.
[00:10:00] I took the backwards that day.
[00:10:03] Yeah.
[00:10:03] Um.
[00:10:03] Then I went to pick you up.
[00:10:05] Yeah, because.
[00:10:06] Wait, after you finish this, I have a story to tell.
[00:10:09] Okay.
[00:10:10] I have a story to tell.
[00:10:11] Yeah, but.
[00:10:12] I, um.
[00:10:14] Because I was trying to get home, the freaking.
[00:10:17] Dead stop traffic.
[00:10:19] I messaged you.
[00:10:20] I was like, yeah, don't take the highway cause it's a fucking shit show.
[00:10:23] Um.
[00:10:23] Yeah.
[00:10:24] Freaking guy crashed into a fucking Walmart truck.
[00:10:27] And.
[00:10:28] It was one of those moments.
[00:10:30] Well, no one got hurt, but the best part was, can you finally get there and you saw what
[00:10:34] happened?
[00:10:34] Your first, your response is like, what the hell?
[00:10:36] And then the second, your second response was, you could see both the drivers.
[00:10:41] The truck driver had this look of pure disgust in his face as he was staring at the other
[00:10:47] driver who was sitting on the guardrail with his head in his hands.
[00:10:51] He looked like he was crying.
[00:10:53] And I'm just like sitting here going like, he must've got his like ass chewed by the truck
[00:10:57] driver.
[00:10:57] I mean, it's also like he drove into the truck.
[00:11:02] Yeah.
[00:11:02] As his, um, totaled car is being pulled on a flatbed behind him.
[00:11:06] It was just one of those, those images where I'm just like, uh, I'm like.
[00:11:10] Well, the truck was probably fine, but he probably was stuck there until the other.
[00:11:15] No, the truck was also on a flatbed.
[00:11:17] Oh.
[00:11:18] Which made it even more bizarre.
[00:11:20] And it happened right in like the most congested part of the highway.
[00:11:23] So it just fucked traffic entirely.
[00:11:26] Yes.
[00:11:27] And of course, because people can't wait, like be patient for like three seconds and
[00:11:32] I'm switching lanes every two seconds and just making traffic worse.
[00:11:35] Yeah.
[00:11:36] Um, yeah.
[00:11:38] Typical.
[00:11:38] You had to get driving.
[00:11:39] But then I took the backroom to him.
[00:11:42] And as I took the backroom to him, I said, you know what?
[00:11:44] Instead of me running home, I'm going to have Bill feed Miss Dingles.
[00:11:48] That's my cat.
[00:11:49] Her name's Pooh, but I call her Miss Dingles.
[00:11:52] I had him feed her.
[00:11:54] And then I went and picked him up.
[00:11:56] And then we go to vote and Bill starts yelling at me because I turned into the correct entrance.
[00:12:04] But no, you're going the wrong way.
[00:12:06] No, excuse me.
[00:12:09] You're omitting the part where you turned in there and went, oh, shit, I'm in the wrong entrance.
[00:12:15] No, I was right.
[00:12:16] I was right the whole time and I knew it.
[00:12:17] Well, yeah, because because the way they laid it out, they legit had people go in the exit and come out the entrance.
[00:12:25] And I was just like, okay, whatever.
[00:12:28] Well, but then I pulled into the park and Bill's like, Alex, you went the wrong way.
[00:12:34] And I was like, I don't give a fuck.
[00:12:35] I'm already here.
[00:12:36] I'm here, but whatever.
[00:12:38] It's already too late.
[00:12:40] I was already in.
[00:12:41] And then Bill's like, you did it wrong.
[00:12:42] And I'm like, look.
[00:12:45] It's always more fun when I drive because it ends up being more chaotic somehow.
[00:12:51] Also, this is the first time I've ever seen Girl Scouts trying to sell cookies at an event like this.
[00:12:57] And I'm just like, this is a weird-
[00:12:58] It wasn't just my town.
[00:12:59] It was a couple others too, because some of my friends were all texting and they were like, oh, there was a bunch of Girl Scouts at mine too.
[00:13:06] That's just such a weird place to do that.
[00:13:09] Because that's like the last thing on your mind.
[00:13:11] I didn't get a sticker.
[00:13:13] Come on.
[00:13:14] I walked past the bowl where the stickers were and there was like five people that were taking it.
[00:13:20] Well, there was like-
[00:13:23] I didn't get a sticker.
[00:13:25] I wanted to put it on my forehead like a fruit.
[00:13:36] Like a fruit sticker.
[00:13:38] Regardless, I walked past and there was like seven people standing around the table taking fucking forever to grab a sticker.
[00:13:44] So I just looked over and said, I don't fucking care.
[00:13:46] And just kept walking.
[00:13:47] I went.
[00:13:50] Well, you clearly didn't care that much because you walked literally right past it.
[00:13:54] I never voted.
[00:13:56] This was the first time I voted in person because every time I've been able to vote, I've been at school.
[00:14:02] So I did a- what's it called?
[00:14:04] A absentee ballot.
[00:14:08] And then I was living in Connecticut, but not like my residence was still in Massachusetts because it was like when I was first getting out of college.
[00:14:15] So I did an absentee ballot.
[00:14:16] And then it was COVID.
[00:14:20] So I did.
[00:14:21] Oh wait, no, maybe that was the reason why I did.
[00:14:23] It was- no, I think it was the school.
[00:14:26] Yeah, it was- it wasn't due to COVID because we voted before COVID.
[00:14:29] No, we voted during COVID.
[00:14:31] Oh, we did?
[00:14:32] All right.
[00:14:33] Well, I didn't actually- I've never actually voted in person.
[00:14:35] This is the first time I voted in person.
[00:14:37] So I had no idea what was going on.
[00:14:39] And why did they give it to me after and they did a good job?
[00:14:44] No, they were on a little table and people are incompetent at grabbing stickers, I guess.
[00:14:49] I don't know.
[00:14:50] Well, they need a big sign that says get your fucking stickers right here because I didn't see it and I'm sad.
[00:14:58] Yeah.
[00:15:01] Anyways, so that happened.
[00:15:03] Anyways guys, thanks so much for watching.
[00:15:06] Thank you.
[00:15:15] I'm just gonna constantly screen cap you so we get these wonderful faces that you're making.
[00:15:20] No, you can't!
[00:15:22] I'm Megabod, you're not allowed to post that.
[00:15:26] That's me.
[00:15:27] Then stop fake crying.
[00:15:29] There's no one who buys this.
[00:15:30] They're real tears.
[00:15:31] They're real- excuse me.
[00:15:32] Dude, where's my dream?
[00:15:34] What?
[00:15:37] Okay, let's-
[00:15:40] Let's move on to our topic for this episode because it's an interesting one.
[00:15:46] We're doing another games that shaped us.
[00:15:49] Basically, it's this ongoing series where we talk about games from our childhood that we played as kids and have memories of.
[00:15:56] Usually they're obscure games and this one is definitely on the obscure side.
[00:16:01] So I have to ask Alex.
[00:16:04] Do you like running a hotel?
[00:16:07] Hell yeah, I do.
[00:16:09] Do you like when your hotel's invaded by aliens?
[00:16:13] No, I actually didn't like that.
[00:16:15] Whenever that happened, I wasn't afraid of that.
[00:16:17] Or the mob.
[00:16:20] Or a group of robots.
[00:16:21] The mob wasn't as bad.
[00:16:23] The robots were scary.
[00:16:25] So for this episode, we're going to be talking about the Sims 2 for Nintendo DS.
[00:16:33] One of the weirdest Sims ports I think we ever got, which is saying a lot because the Sims 2 got like seven different ports that are like all different games and they are all fucking weird.
[00:16:45] Yep.
[00:16:45] But this one in particular, I think is the weirdest just because it is literally the Sims 2 hotel simulator.
[00:16:57] Yes, but also very strange.
[00:17:02] Yeah.
[00:17:04] Not a normal town.
[00:17:06] Well, yeah, it takes place in strange town like all the Sims 2 games do.
[00:17:11] At least the portable ones for the most part did.
[00:17:18] Interestingly enough, like all three of the portable Sims 2 games have like these really bizarre plots like the GBA one you're like running a movie.
[00:17:27] You're like in this like you're in strange town, but it's like a hidden camera TV show and you're like kind of like acting in it as like an informant for the guy producing it.
[00:17:37] It's weird.
[00:17:38] This one's the hotel one and then the PSP one is at this own thing with like this like evil super villain that's kidnapping people.
[00:17:47] It's bizarre.
[00:17:50] Ironically, they all start similar though where like you show up in town and your car breaks down.
[00:17:55] Yep.
[00:17:57] Yeah.
[00:17:58] And then suddenly you're running a hotel.
[00:18:00] Yeah, this this one's weird like you.
[00:18:04] So this game was made by Gryptonite Games who are the they're the studio that made all the handheld Sims games up to this point like they made the the Sims Bust Now for GBA the herb Sims in the city for GBA and DS and the Sims 2 for Game Boy Advance.
[00:18:21] So they've basically mastered this style of game.
[00:18:23] This game is set in that same universe, too.
[00:18:26] So there's like all the same characters that you'll find in those games.
[00:18:29] These games also have very in-depth stories for Sims games, which makes them kind of interesting.
[00:18:34] Mm hmm.
[00:18:36] Mm hmm.
[00:18:37] But this one was the first one that was in full quote unquote 3D using DS era 3D, which is always unique to say the least.
[00:18:48] It doesn't it doesn't look awful, but it also doesn't look great either.
[00:18:52] Well, it's fine for like the time being.
[00:18:57] It wasn't a bad group.
[00:19:00] No, but the 2D stuff looked significantly better on the DS.
[00:19:04] Yeah.
[00:19:07] So, yeah, plot wise, though, it's essentially you show up in town and basically your car breaks down and you meet you meet this old man named Jebediah Jerky.
[00:19:17] Jebediah.
[00:19:18] There's some interesting characters in the series.
[00:19:21] And he's basically like, yeah, I can fix your car, but you're going to need a place to stay.
[00:19:26] And the only place in town is the old hotel.
[00:19:28] And you basically show up and they're like, oh, yeah, the hotel owners skip town and we have no one to run it.
[00:19:33] Could you run the hotel?
[00:19:35] Could you run the hotel?
[00:19:38] So basically what happens is you get kind of like lumped into running this hotel and where things get very interesting is this game.
[00:19:45] This game is almost like Animal Crossing in a lot of ways.
[00:19:49] Yes, the real time clock.
[00:19:51] The real time clock when I first played this game, I thought was really cool.
[00:19:56] But on repeat playthroughs, it is a fucking pain in the ass in a lot of ways.
[00:20:01] Like you prefer it to almost be like a Stardew Valley clock where the day goes just by in like 10 or five minutes.
[00:20:09] Yeah, or any other Sims game for that matter, because the idea is really cool.
[00:20:16] You want to go share it?
[00:20:22] Alex just obliterated her stress ball.
[00:20:25] No, no, I went like this.
[00:20:27] I went.
[00:20:30] Lovely.
[00:20:32] Anyway.
[00:20:45] So, oh yeah.
[00:20:46] So the way it works is essentially the real time clock is kind of interesting because like it basically you're actually it feels like you're running a hotel like on an actual time schedule.
[00:20:56] And you have to like maintain all the facilities in the hotel like there's it has a nuclear reactor.
[00:21:01] That's just the funniest part about it.
[00:21:03] Yeah, I was trying to look at just pictures of the hotel.
[00:21:06] I was trying to find because there's so many places and it's one of those games to work as you play the game.
[00:21:13] They're like, oh, hey, you could spend some money and unlock this in here.
[00:21:18] Like you have to spruce up the hotel.
[00:21:21] It's seen better days.
[00:21:22] Hmm.
[00:21:24] Yeah, because you have to go by.
[00:21:25] You have to get building permits from the town mayor to get then get your things built and they take like a day to get built.
[00:21:33] So it's like in a perfect world, you kind of have to.
[00:21:38] There are ways to exploit the game and build as many rooms as you can.
[00:21:43] And you will be punished.
[00:21:45] Well, no, no, no, no, no, no.
[00:21:47] I'm not talking about that.
[00:21:48] Explo.
[00:21:49] Oh, we'll get to that one later.
[00:21:53] So they're making money in this game is kind of interesting.
[00:21:56] Like you obviously you get paid for like people who stay at the hotel and stuff because you're technically getting a salary for running it.
[00:22:03] But this year this one doesn't really have the same mini games per se that like the other Sims games would normally have.
[00:22:12] Like you don't really have jobs in the same sense.
[00:22:15] Yeah, instead, though, they haven't this.
[00:22:18] There's like a mini game you can play in the casino called a keyhole or something like that, where it's essentially a card.
[00:22:25] Oh, the card game. I freaking loved that game.
[00:22:28] I would play that for hours.
[00:22:31] Well, what would happen with that card, that card game you could exploit very easily.
[00:22:38] Because that card game pays you off very well for winning it.
[00:22:42] And on certain days, you would get a message from a shady individual telling you that, hey, for this day, the card game in the casino, the deck is stacked, which essentially means every time you play it, you're going to get an instant like hand that will instantly put you in an advantage and basically guarantee you you're going to win the game as long as you're not stupid.
[00:23:05] You want to hear something funny?
[00:23:08] What?
[00:23:08] I never knew that.
[00:23:10] So I would just be like, wow, I'm doing really good.
[00:23:13] Yeah.
[00:23:14] Well, because you you because when this game.
[00:23:16] So let's preface the time.
[00:23:18] This game came out.
[00:23:22] 2005.
[00:23:24] You probably still couldn't read.
[00:23:28] Very well.
[00:23:29] Probably just was choosing not to also.
[00:23:33] Well, you could probably get by reading, but I'm saying this as a person who had this issue as well for a long time.
[00:23:41] You probably saw the text that just skipped through it because you didn't couldn't be bothered to read it.
[00:23:46] You probably as well.
[00:23:47] It's like, yeah, fuck that.
[00:23:49] Yeah.
[00:23:50] You play it.
[00:23:50] Now it is.
[00:23:51] You actually read everything.
[00:23:52] You're like, oh, this makes so much sense.
[00:23:56] There was so much weird stuff in this hotel, too.
[00:24:00] It had a variety of rooms.
[00:24:03] Do you remember the prime prime heifer?
[00:24:08] Well, yes, because I guess like cow.
[00:24:13] Yeah.
[00:24:14] What's funny is in the PSP version, you get to see that thing alive.
[00:24:18] Oh, God.
[00:24:20] Yeah, it's not.
[00:24:20] It's bizarre.
[00:24:22] But yeah, there's like.
[00:24:24] So this hotel is kind of a magical like it.
[00:24:27] It's massive.
[00:24:28] It has a ton of rooms you can build like you can build like all these different cafes.
[00:24:32] Like there's a safe down in the basement, a laboratory, an entire fucking cave.
[00:24:40] The rat cave.
[00:24:42] Yeah, because you actually get to be a super vigilante superhero called the rat cave.
[00:24:48] Well, it helps you in the game because you have to actually know how to do it because because of the robots we mentioned earlier.
[00:24:55] The robots, the thugs, the aliens.
[00:24:58] You can you can do the aliens as well because fuck using the squirt gun.
[00:25:00] Oh, yeah.
[00:25:01] Yeah.
[00:25:02] The aliens.
[00:25:03] It was you had one of two ways the rat suit or the squirt gun.
[00:25:07] Yeah.
[00:25:08] And the game with the squirt gun.
[00:25:10] You so that the DS obviously had the stylus.
[00:25:14] So you had to pump the damn gun and it sucked.
[00:25:17] Yeah, it was terrible.
[00:25:20] Terrible.
[00:25:21] And because it's because you're using a D pad aiming was fucking hell.
[00:25:24] It's like it just sucked.
[00:25:26] That's why if aliens ever do invade, just get the eradicator.
[00:25:30] It's so much easier.
[00:25:31] And then you can laugh at the aliens in jail.
[00:25:34] And then I hate it.
[00:25:36] I am smart.
[00:25:38] So what's hilarious, too, is there's more shit in the hotel than there is in the actual town.
[00:25:43] It's I'm pretty sure the hotel is bigger than the town.
[00:25:45] Um.
[00:25:48] Because the town is generally pretty small.
[00:25:50] It has like four buildings.
[00:25:51] There's, um, the hotel, obviously.
[00:25:55] There's Jebediah's little shack, but you can't go in that.
[00:25:58] Um.
[00:26:00] There's the general store.
[00:26:03] There's the bar and then there's town hall and the jail.
[00:26:06] So it's like this little tiny town.
[00:26:09] It's basically a small portion of strange town from the games.
[00:26:13] Um, the bar is where you can just kind of meet people.
[00:26:15] Um, town halls where you buy, you can buy permits to get rooms.
[00:26:19] Um, jail is obviously where the jail is.
[00:26:22] Um.
[00:26:25] And then the stores where you buy items.
[00:26:27] And the items are on kind of like a clock where like every day there'll be different things in the store.
[00:26:32] Uh, very much like Animal Crossing.
[00:26:35] Yes.
[00:26:36] It did take a lot from Animal Crossing.
[00:26:39] It is funny, too.
[00:26:40] I'm looking at like the main character list.
[00:26:42] And it's such a bizarre, like it's literally the first one on the list is, is a freaking alien emperor.
[00:26:49] Then it's like.
[00:26:50] Emperor Zizzle.
[00:26:52] Emperor Zizzle.
[00:26:53] Emperor Zizzle.
[00:26:54] And then it's like person, person, goth lady, bigfoot, uh, mafia man, guy, guy, lady, lady, guy, lady, lord mole, ruler of the subterranean race of mole people.
[00:27:10] Uh, Horace Menhos, the fourth, who's a zombie.
[00:27:17] A freaking Optimus Alfred, who's a monkey robot.
[00:27:22] Butler.
[00:27:23] A pirate.
[00:27:25] A girl.
[00:27:26] A girl.
[00:27:27] An old guy.
[00:27:28] Uh, more guys, more people.
[00:27:31] A really gem-a-dying jerky.
[00:27:33] Who looks like a jerky.
[00:27:35] And then Dribble, Keeble, Zimmer, and Burble.
[00:27:38] All aliens.
[00:27:39] Yes.
[00:27:41] Um.
[00:27:42] Like what the hell is this character list?
[00:27:45] There's a lot of characters.
[00:27:47] A lot of them are actually lifted from the previous games too, which is kind of fun.
[00:27:50] And you get them in these really janky 3D models.
[00:27:53] Hmm.
[00:27:54] Oh yeah.
[00:27:55] Some of them, some of these images too, like some of them don't even have nice pre-rendered ones.
[00:28:02] No, they're very rough.
[00:28:05] So, aside from like attractions in the hotel and like various rooms, you also get like your three or four suites that you can, um, have people stay in.
[00:28:15] There's the crappy one, the medium one, and then the super nice one, and then the penthouse.
[00:28:20] Um.
[00:28:22] The penthouse is story related, so you kind of have to, uh, that one has to be made.
[00:28:26] Um, the other, the other ones are optional.
[00:28:28] And then you also get your suite, which is the, um, essentially your own room that you can customize however you want.
[00:28:34] Hmm.
[00:28:35] Um.
[00:28:36] And then there's the, uh, the guy up front, the, uh, the hotel door guy.
[00:28:43] I forget his name.
[00:28:44] Yeah.
[00:28:45] He was the Esteban.
[00:28:47] Sure.
[00:28:48] From the Suite Life of Zack and Tony.
[00:28:50] Sure.
[00:28:51] Um.
[00:28:51] Yeah, he basically just chills up front and, uh, he's like, you know, he's like, you know,
[00:28:56] Uh, he, he, that's where he lives.
[00:28:58] He makes you do all the work.
[00:29:00] Well, he's gotta run, he's gotta run the front desk.
[00:29:02] At all times.
[00:29:03] He's not allowed to leave.
[00:29:04] Ever.
[00:29:05] Yes.
[00:29:05] He is one of the characters who's classified as an immobile character.
[00:29:10] Yeah, there is a lot of characters.
[00:29:12] They don't leave.
[00:29:13] Although he's one of the ones that you can actually talk to.
[00:29:17] Hmm.
[00:29:18] That is funny.
[00:29:19] Um.
[00:29:20] I think they talk to some of the other ones just, but they're mostly just menus.
[00:29:23] Yeah, a lot of them are store keeps.
[00:29:25] And that's all they do.
[00:29:26] Do you remember Moogoo Monkey?
[00:29:29] I do.
[00:29:30] The only, and the only way you can, the only way you can play that is if you have a GBA copy of The Sims 2 and you have it in your GBA slot on your DS.
[00:29:41] No, you didn't.
[00:29:42] I played it and I never had to do that.
[00:29:47] You played it.
[00:29:47] You played it in the herbs.
[00:29:53] It's, it's from the herbs originally.
[00:29:54] It is?
[00:29:56] I thought it was from this.
[00:29:57] No, it's from the herbs.
[00:29:59] It's a bonus in this game and you can, the only way you can play it is if you have your, a copy of the GBA version of Sims 2 in the GBA slot.
[00:30:10] Um.
[00:30:12] Yeah, they added that as a bonus.
[00:30:13] I don't like that game nearly as much.
[00:30:16] As key hauling?
[00:30:18] Yeah, it's not as, you can't cheat it.
[00:30:20] Like you can in key hauling, so.
[00:30:22] Ha ha ha.
[00:30:24] Well, there's no, uh, there's no breaking the rules.
[00:30:30] No.
[00:30:30] It's also a game where it's completely random sometimes.
[00:30:33] Like you could have like this awesome score going and then you'll just get fucking annihilated right at the end and then you get nothing.
[00:30:38] And you're like, damn it.
[00:30:40] Yeah.
[00:30:41] It's a, it's a cute bonus that they added it, but it is, you can actually, you can cheat the game too using an extra replay and get it that way, but.
[00:30:47] Hmm.
[00:30:49] I forgot how many rooms there actually were in the hotel.
[00:30:52] Oh yeah.
[00:30:53] There's like so many restaurants.
[00:30:55] Like there's like all these different.
[00:30:56] Through all the pictures.
[00:30:58] I'm like, damn.
[00:31:00] They're decently rendered models too.
[00:31:02] Like there's some solid, uh, rooms.
[00:31:05] Yeah.
[00:31:07] It's funny.
[00:31:08] Cause I remember the alien room.
[00:31:10] Cause what was like the main story line?
[00:31:14] So.
[00:31:14] Yes.
[00:31:14] This, well, there isn't really a main storyline per se.
[00:31:18] It's kind of just a series of events that happen.
[00:31:21] Yeah.
[00:31:22] Basically the, the, the way that the story.
[00:31:25] So the, the game is split up into, into four acts.
[00:31:28] There's the tutorial act, which is very short.
[00:31:30] It's essentially how you just establish how you're going to play.
[00:31:32] Uh, and then there is.
[00:31:36] Three major guests that arrive at the hotel.
[00:31:40] There's, um, and what basically happens for each one of these segments is they arrive at the hotel and they stay exclusively in the penthouse.
[00:31:49] And when they're in the penthouse, they give you missions essentially or tasks that they want you to do for them.
[00:31:55] Um, so there's three arcs.
[00:31:57] There is the, the, uh, the, the Frankie, uh, Fushili arc where he's, he's a mobster essentially who takes, uh, takes, uh, residents in the, in the penthouse first.
[00:32:10] And he makes you do a bunch of shady shit.
[00:32:13] Like even he like brings in the mobs to the town and stuff and you do some weird shady stuff.
[00:32:17] And eventually he gets arrested because you eventually kind of try, he has you try to bury a body in the desert at one point.
[00:32:27] Yeah.
[00:32:27] And you're like, I'm not going to do that.
[00:32:30] We didn't even talk about the desert.
[00:32:33] Oh yeah.
[00:32:34] Cause that's where you can like find a bunch of, uh, a nuclear fuel rods.
[00:32:38] That's where I would always go, but that's also where you can find aliens and aliens can kill.
[00:32:43] Spaceship parks, all sorts of other stuff.
[00:32:45] Uh, just a whole bunch of shit to, uh,
[00:32:48] basically sell for money if you don't know how to stack the deck.
[00:32:51] Um, also, so yeah, the Frank Fushili, uh, Fushili arc is, uh, the first one.
[00:33:00] Then you get the, um, the, who was the,
[00:33:08] Ava Kadava.
[00:33:11] Ava Kadava.
[00:33:13] The Davra.
[00:33:14] Oh, oh yeah.
[00:33:14] She's technically a returning sim, which is a board borderline.
[00:33:18] Cause they claim this one NPC like shopkeep is her and what in the herbs, but that's besides the point.
[00:33:24] Um, yeah.
[00:33:25] Ava.
[00:33:26] Yeah.
[00:33:27] Um, she's a goth girl.
[00:33:29] Um, and she's into the occult.
[00:33:30] And essentially she takes up residence next.
[00:33:33] And you, there's like this weird cult where you're like making a, uh, it's like a cult around this giant cow.
[00:33:39] Um, and then you have to go find the, the mummy in the desert.
[00:33:42] Who's like, no, no, he's evil.
[00:33:44] You need to replace it with my statue.
[00:33:48] Yeah.
[00:33:49] Yeah.
[00:33:49] It's, it's bizarre.
[00:33:50] Uh, I always remember cause that one.
[00:33:51] Is the cow actually evil?
[00:33:53] Uh, yes.
[00:33:54] In this PSP version, it very much is.
[00:33:56] It's like a devil cow.
[00:33:57] Right.
[00:33:58] Yeah, he is.
[00:33:59] It's just funny.
[00:34:00] It's a zombie.
[00:34:00] And the best part is to get him in the, you find his ghost initially when he tries contacting you.
[00:34:06] And then, um, you end up having to go find his casket out in the desert using the metal detector.
[00:34:13] And then you have to put said casket in one of the rooms.
[00:34:16] It doesn't matter which one, just a room in the hotel.
[00:34:18] So I always put it in the shitty room.
[00:34:21] Um, and then he'll just come out of it and be like, ah, I'm back to life.
[00:34:25] Let's do this shit.
[00:34:27] Yeah.
[00:34:29] Um, yeah, pretty much.
[00:34:32] He wanders around the town.
[00:34:33] Um, yeah, her arc ends after you destroyed the, uh, the ritual for the cow thing.
[00:34:38] And then she sets the hotel room on fire as she leaves to vandalize it.
[00:34:44] Which then, um, results in the final arc of the game with, um, Optimum Alfred.
[00:34:52] Yeah, Optimum Alfred, who is actually the, um, the monkey butler from herbs that you can get.
[00:35:00] They just made him a character.
[00:35:02] Um, he claims that he's there to clean up the mess left behind in the, in the penthouse, but he ends up just staying in the penthouse and secretly uses you.
[00:35:12] To, uh, to start his weird world domination tactics.
[00:35:16] Oh!
[00:35:17] Nice.
[00:35:18] Because he's like building this like weird like satellite dish on the roof claiming it's for TV purposes.
[00:35:23] But then like the, the Lord Mole shows up and he starts gnawing on the, uh, the wires claiming that it's for good.
[00:35:31] But you're supposed to scare him away because you don't realize that Alfred's the villain.
[00:35:36] Um, yeah.
[00:35:38] It's a whole thing.
[00:35:39] This game has a final boss too.
[00:35:40] Cause you actually have to fight the robots on the roof.
[00:35:43] Yeah.
[00:35:44] I always remembered that.
[00:35:46] Cause I was like, eh.
[00:35:49] Also the, the, the swimming pools on the roof.
[00:35:52] I always just found that an odd choice.
[00:35:53] Like all, put all the weight on the roof.
[00:35:56] Yes.
[00:35:59] Um, yeah.
[00:36:00] So the plot is bizarre.
[00:36:02] Like there's a lot of bizarre twisted turns.
[00:36:04] This game also has some interesting glitches.
[00:36:07] Um, that are unavoidable in game.
[00:36:10] Oh boy.
[00:36:12] Like, um, they don't break the game at all, but they're just kind of a weird peculiarity.
[00:36:18] Um, it happened and you can't avoid it.
[00:36:20] Yeah.
[00:36:21] Like, so the mayor of the town is the mayor's name is literally honest Jackson, which I think
[00:36:26] is just a joke on how politicians are anything but honest.
[00:36:31] Um, and he actually disappears from the game after, um, you finished the, uh, the Fushi Lee arc.
[00:36:42] Um, and apparently a lot of people, cause like you can call him, he'll be like, oh, I'm in town hall,
[00:36:46] but you go to town hall and he's never there.
[00:36:49] Apparently one of the programmers for this game actually claimed that was a glitch in
[00:36:53] the, in the game scripting.
[00:36:54] And because of the error, he just straight up vanishes.
[00:36:59] And a lot of people like the, to like theorize that he was the body you were burying in the
[00:37:03] desert.
[00:37:05] Yeah.
[00:37:06] Yeah.
[00:37:07] Just a fun stuff like that.
[00:37:09] Um, I know Lord mole.
[00:37:11] There's like a 50, 50 shot.
[00:37:13] He'll just vanish forever too.
[00:37:14] Cause I remember in your game, he would just wander around the game.
[00:37:16] Like you, you somehow kept him, but for me, he was gone forever.
[00:37:20] Oh.
[00:37:21] After his appearance.
[00:37:22] Lucky me.
[00:37:24] Yeah.
[00:37:24] Well, I mean, no, it is actually good for you because if you ever get a mission, like
[00:37:27] a task that involves him, cause there's like the, uh, deliver this item to said character
[00:37:32] things.
[00:37:34] Uh, occasionally you'll get either honest Jackson or the mole guy and half the time they're
[00:37:38] not there and you can't deliver packages.
[00:37:40] So you kind of get soft locked into never being able to deliver packages ever again.
[00:37:44] Um, which is, which is great.
[00:37:48] Yeah.
[00:37:49] Primitive programming on these games, you know, it happens, but thankfully if you know how to
[00:37:53] play keel haul and you don't money's not a problem.
[00:37:55] So, yeah, I will say though, there is one flaw with this game that I believe is its biggest
[00:38:04] flaw.
[00:38:05] What?
[00:38:06] Do you remember how skills worked in this game?
[00:38:10] I do not.
[00:38:11] Okay.
[00:38:13] So, so like, like any Sims game, the skills, there's like skills, you know, like body creative
[00:38:21] mechanical, um, logic, stuff like that.
[00:38:24] Usually you'll raise those up by say studying or doing just like a menial tasks to progressively
[00:38:31] learn that the skill this game decided to not do that.
[00:38:36] Oh, instead it's completely random.
[00:38:39] Well, it's not random, but it's a completely like by chance thing.
[00:38:44] The way the skills work is you find them on the map in random locations at specific times.
[00:38:53] And like, you'll say, find like a body skill point or like a logic skill point.
[00:38:57] Huh?
[00:38:58] So you, there is a point in the game right at the end where, uh, Alfred locks himself in
[00:39:08] the penthouse after he goes rogue.
[00:39:11] And, um, you can't, you can't get to him until you, uh, hack the elevator.
[00:39:18] Yeah.
[00:39:19] And to hack the elevator, you need like level six mechanical.
[00:39:23] And if you haven't been collecting those skills up to this point, basically you can't progress
[00:39:29] until you find them.
[00:39:31] So you basically just have to play the game aimlessly for days on end searching
[00:39:36] every room until you find them.
[00:39:40] Nowadays I actually replay that bitch.
[00:39:42] Cause fuck that.
[00:39:43] Like every playthrough again.
[00:39:46] Yeah.
[00:39:47] Um, but that is the, the arguably the worst aspect of this game in my opinion.
[00:39:52] And it kind of kills replays for me.
[00:39:56] Not great.
[00:39:58] Also the, uh, the motive, uh, system in this game is a little weird.
[00:40:02] Um, where rather than you have all these different meters, you just have one big meter and you
[00:40:08] just kind of fill it up progressively with different things until it fills back all the
[00:40:11] way.
[00:40:12] Sure.
[00:40:13] I remember that.
[00:40:16] Um, oh, we should talk about the, uh, what happens when you mess with the in-game clock
[00:40:23] or your system clock.
[00:40:26] So because this game is like animal crossing and uses the real real time clock, it does
[00:40:31] not like it.
[00:40:32] If you fuck with the real time clock, their version of Mr.
[00:40:36] Vizzetti is an alien invasion or monkey invasion.
[00:40:41] No, Justin.
[00:40:41] So what happens is if you mess with the real time clock, I think you can go forward and
[00:40:48] it really, it won't trigger it.
[00:40:49] Like going forward in time, doesn't mess with it.
[00:40:52] Going back in time though, that is what triggers the, uh, the, uh, the event.
[00:40:58] Um, basically what happens is if you, if you go back in time, the game triggers an event
[00:41:03] where an alien invasion happens.
[00:41:05] Like there, there there's always alien invasions going on throughout the game at various points.
[00:41:09] And they're usually, they range from being very like a couple of aliens to like a shit
[00:41:13] ton of aliens.
[00:41:14] Yeah.
[00:41:14] If you go back in time, it acts as if it's the biggest alien encounter in every possible
[00:41:22] place aliens can appear.
[00:41:24] So like legitimately they are swarming your game.
[00:41:27] Yep.
[00:41:28] If you have the rat man and you're very good at using rat man's abilities, it's not that
[00:41:32] big a deal.
[00:41:34] Um, if you're like Alex though and struggle with it, it, she couldn't play the game until
[00:41:39] I did it for her.
[00:41:40] Yeah.
[00:41:40] I remember I, I went back in time to be like, and then, uh, I, cause I think I fucked something
[00:41:47] up and then I was like, shit, I'll just go back in time.
[00:41:50] And then, uh, I went too far and I had an alien invasion.
[00:41:56] I was like, cause I don't think I had the rat man yet.
[00:42:01] Yeah.
[00:42:01] You had to, I remember cause I had to like do the squirt gun and it sucked cause fucking
[00:42:06] hate squirt.
[00:42:09] Lovely.
[00:42:11] Um, yeah.
[00:42:13] Yeah.
[00:42:13] That that's a very, I love when games do that, even though it's very annoying.
[00:42:17] It's funny.
[00:42:18] Oh, that's my favorite part of animal crossing.
[00:42:20] I love Mr.
[00:42:21] Rossetti.
[00:42:22] People hate him.
[00:42:23] I love him.
[00:42:23] Do you remember how you get chocolate milk?
[00:42:27] No.
[00:42:28] Was it like a brown cow or something?
[00:42:31] You literally, so there's a right next to the, um, the, the hotel is actually a cow field
[00:42:37] and you can give the cows chocolate to turn them into chocolate cows.
[00:42:41] Oh yeah.
[00:42:42] No, you can milk them to get just like raw chocolate milk.
[00:42:47] Cause video game logic, of course.
[00:42:49] Um, yes.
[00:42:52] Lovely.
[00:42:55] Alex is creating abominations on screen.
[00:42:58] Wait, wait, wait.
[00:43:01] That's disgusting.
[00:43:05] Um, I'll make sure to have it when we record the special coming out.
[00:43:09] Oh yeah.
[00:43:11] So.
[00:43:12] Just be demented in the corner.
[00:43:14] Other than that though, there's not a ton more to this game.
[00:43:18] Like that's the core of it.
[00:43:20] It was a good time, but it's also one of those games.
[00:43:23] Those, once you unlock everything, you kind of end up getting at this point where there's
[00:43:27] not much to do.
[00:43:28] Well, once you unlock everything and you finish the story, finish all the story.
[00:43:32] Yeah.
[00:43:33] It kind of gets to a point where you're like, it becomes like animal crossing.
[00:43:37] Once you do everything you can in game, then you just kind of do your tasks every day.
[00:43:42] Well, animal crossing is a little different though, because there's so much you can unlock
[00:43:45] in animal crossing and there's the holidays and there's all these other stuff.
[00:43:51] Better example.
[00:43:52] It's my Sims after you finish everything.
[00:43:55] Yes.
[00:43:56] All right.
[00:43:56] That's a better example.
[00:43:57] I had to buy that for the switch.
[00:44:00] Oh yeah.
[00:44:01] I forgot.
[00:44:01] They're putting my Sims one and two on the switch.
[00:44:03] Yes.
[00:44:04] Thank you.
[00:44:05] No, no.
[00:44:06] Yeah.
[00:44:06] One and two.
[00:44:07] Oh, I don't think it is one and two.
[00:44:09] I think of my Sims and my Sims kingdom.
[00:44:11] But you can't, you can't, there's no secret agent, so you can't smash the car, smash
[00:44:16] the truck.
[00:44:17] Smash the truck.
[00:44:20] I've not seen that video in forever.
[00:44:22] Oh, baby G. Him and this Arthur.
[00:44:26] Yeah.
[00:44:29] Yeah.
[00:44:29] Yeah, though.
[00:44:29] It's, it's a fun game.
[00:44:31] It's very bizarre.
[00:44:32] It's cheap as hell.
[00:44:33] If you really want to experience it nowadays, you do need a DS.
[00:44:36] I'm sure there's also emulators.
[00:44:38] Cause I see people who are doing playthroughs of it.
[00:44:41] So.
[00:44:41] Well, yeah, you can emulate it.
[00:44:44] Sure.
[00:44:44] I do recommend though, if you do that, get an action replay just for the skills, just
[00:44:50] cause fuck doing that, but that, that legit ruins the experience for me.
[00:44:55] Uh, the only thing also that kind of sucks about the game is like, you will literally
[00:44:59] get stonewalled at times by like the timing, like, cause there are certain rooms in the
[00:45:04] hotel.
[00:45:04] Cause you can, if you, if you're good at keel hauling, you can basically buy every room
[00:45:09] at once and then they'll all get built at the same time.
[00:45:12] Um, so you won't have to worry.
[00:45:14] Um, there are certain ones later on though, that, um, you, uh, you only unlocked for mission
[00:45:21] specific.
[00:45:22] So you will get to those missions and then it will basically be like sucks to suck.
[00:45:27] You're going to have to wait a day to get your, uh, or it's like six hours, but it, but
[00:45:31] at, but at that point, you're not going to play the game for six hours to, uh, unlock your
[00:45:36] room.
[00:45:36] Or you'll, or you could check back in, in theory, but for the most part, I feel like
[00:45:40] people would switch to a different game or switch to doing something else.
[00:45:44] It's so long to the point where it's not worth even waiting.
[00:45:47] It's just turn the game off, come back tomorrow.
[00:45:49] It'll be, it'll be, it'll be fine.
[00:45:51] Yeah.
[00:45:52] Um, but yeah, it, it's weird to me that this is the only Sims game that tried this.
[00:45:59] Yeah.
[00:46:00] Cause the other ones use the isometric style that was very typical for hand-held Sims games
[00:46:08] and then the PSP games, it's own.
[00:46:10] The PSP game is its own animal.
[00:46:12] Cause the PSP was its own animal.
[00:46:14] Yeah.
[00:46:15] The PSP game is its own bizarre thing that Alex has never played.
[00:46:20] That one's it would be hard to do an episode on, but, um, yeah.
[00:46:24] Oh, we didn't talk about how, uh, the, the social aspect works.
[00:46:30] Yes.
[00:46:31] Um, it's like the biggest in depth, like social mechanic game, right?
[00:46:37] I don't remember them that much.
[00:46:39] Well, you, you'd have to, so there was five possible social interactions that could happen,
[00:46:46] uh, during gameplay.
[00:46:47] There was, you could find a neutral Sim, which is just basically chatting and building up your
[00:46:52] relationships.
[00:46:53] Yeah.
[00:46:54] There's angry Sims who are these, they're basically irritated assholes and they just angry
[00:46:57] and aggro for no reason.
[00:46:59] You have to calm them down.
[00:47:01] There's sad, there's sad Sims that are absolutely pathetic.
[00:47:04] Um, they just cry.
[00:47:06] Like that.
[00:47:07] You have to cheer them up.
[00:47:08] Um, yeah.
[00:47:12] Um, and then there is, um, loopy Sims, which are just, they're wacky out of their minds
[00:47:17] and you have to like, pacify them.
[00:47:20] And then there are romantic Sims.
[00:47:24] You can, you can be romantic.
[00:47:27] There's no, there's no relationship system in this game, but you can romance anybody.
[00:47:31] Yeah.
[00:47:32] Um, be a big old slut.
[00:47:34] Well, there are certain Sims you cannot, uh, romance.
[00:47:38] Oh, like Emperor Zizzle.
[00:47:40] So you can't, you can't, you can't, you can't even really talk to Emperor Zizzle ever in the game.
[00:47:43] Damn.
[00:47:44] Um, you can't, you can't romance Lord Mole.
[00:47:47] I'm sorry.
[00:47:47] You can't romance Optimum Alfred.
[00:47:51] You can't romance, you can't romance Bigfoot.
[00:47:54] Damn it.
[00:47:54] The zombie?
[00:47:56] You can't, you know, you can't romance Horace.
[00:47:58] This game sucks.
[00:47:59] I hate this game.
[00:48:01] And for some reason you can't romance Pepper Pete the pirate or...
[00:48:04] Damn it.
[00:48:06] This game sucks.
[00:48:08] You can't, you can't, you can't...
[00:48:09] All these characters, you can't even fucking romance.
[00:48:11] You can't romance this, this sexy beast right here.
[00:48:14] Oh my God, I can't.
[00:48:15] That, you know what he looks like?
[00:48:17] He looks like the, um, the grandpa from Curse the Cowardly Dog.
[00:48:20] Yeah, he does.
[00:48:21] He does kind of like use this a little bit.
[00:48:23] Which fits because of the desert vibes too.
[00:48:26] He does.
[00:48:26] But this game sucks.
[00:48:27] I hate this game now.
[00:48:28] You couldn't date anyone cool.
[00:48:30] Oh, and you can't...
[00:48:32] There's no same sex either.
[00:48:34] You can only, male Sims can only romance female Sims and female Sims.
[00:48:37] Damn it!
[00:48:38] It was 2000.
[00:48:38] I wanted the yaoi!
[00:48:39] No, it was...
[00:48:41] It was 2005.
[00:48:42] It, uh, it was a time.
[00:48:45] I'm kidding.
[00:48:45] But...
[00:48:46] Actually, no, I think this, I think vanilla Sims 2, you could do whatever.
[00:48:50] Why are you selected Sims 2 on DS?
[00:48:53] Why?
[00:48:54] Wow.
[00:48:54] Not that romance, not that romance matters at all.
[00:48:57] Um...
[00:48:57] No, not in this game.
[00:48:58] It's just kind of an extra...
[00:49:00] All right.
[00:49:00] It's, it's, it's not even a thing.
[00:49:02] Like, cause it doesn't do anything.
[00:49:13] It's weird.
[00:49:16] It's weird.
[00:49:38] It's weird.
[00:49:39] And disappointing.
[00:49:39] It's really complex.
[00:49:41] Oh, yeah!
[00:49:42] All...
[00:49:43] All the handheld Sims games from like Sims Bustin' Out to Sims 2, for whatever reason,
[00:49:49] just had the most in-depth stories for no reason.
[00:49:53] And I love them for that.
[00:49:55] Why not?
[00:49:57] But, um...
[00:49:58] Why not?
[00:49:58] Yeah, I think that pretty much wraps it up on this pretty short games that shaped this
[00:50:04] episode.
[00:50:06] But, short and sweet, it's been a rough week, so let's just have a nice comment.
[00:50:11] Well, by the time this comes out, it will be...
[00:50:13] You shove that thing up that...
[00:50:15] Jesus Christ.
[00:50:17] You're gonna pop that thing, I'm gonna laugh so hard.
[00:50:21] It is one!
[00:50:23] It is one comment!
[00:50:25] Is that a Cracker Barrel syrup?
[00:50:29] Yes!
[00:50:31] She just shoved a Cracker Barrel of maple syrup up a stress ball of goose.
[00:50:38] Wait...
[00:50:41] What is wrong with you?
[00:50:42] I love maple syrup!
[00:50:48] It just goes back to shape so easily after I can just...
[00:50:51] The stress ball's working, cause I don't feel stressed at all.
[00:50:56] The unhinged is unreal on this episode.
[00:51:00] That being said though, guys...
[00:51:02] Bill, I am the...
[00:51:03] I think, uh...
[00:51:04] Who quoted it the best?
[00:51:06] Like, you were on a podcast...
[00:51:07] We were...
[00:51:07] It was a guest one day, and they brought up...
[00:51:10] It was like, oh...
[00:51:12] They were talking about another podcast where it was, I think, two guys, and the main guy
[00:51:16] was you, and then the other one was me, where they...
[00:51:19] One of them was just trying to keep it on the rails, and the other one was just doing
[00:51:22] everything in their power to make it chaos.
[00:51:26] That's my job!
[00:51:27] That's why you hired me!
[00:51:28] Are you fighting me?
[00:51:30] No!
[00:51:30] This is my big flip!
[00:51:32] Yeah, I'll fire you at $199 just for the satisfaction of it.
[00:51:40] Jesus.
[00:51:42] Anyways, guys...
[00:51:45] No one can hear that.
[00:51:46] Wait, no?
[00:51:47] Could you hear that?
[00:51:48] Stop molesting your mic with the duck.
[00:51:53] Lovely.
[00:51:55] Anyways, guys, once again, thank you for joining us on the Gaming and Collecting Podcast.
