[00:02:36] I was going to work to do training for some of the guys who are pooled over 2nd shifts.

[00:02:47] So they sometimes get, they miss out on the training time.

[00:02:49] So I was doing a separate training just for them.

[00:02:52] But I had to go in early.

[00:02:53] So I woke up early and I basically pushed my schedule back an hour.

[00:02:58] So every morning, I feed my poo.

[00:03:02] I feed her her wet food and then her dry food being that goes off pretty quickly after.

[00:03:07] I kind of forgot that it's set to an hour later.

[00:03:11] So I come downstairs and I like I'm looking around for her after like doing my makeup,

[00:03:18] washing my face and getting ready for the day.

[00:03:20] I come downstairs, I check the window. She's not in there.

[00:03:23] I check around the limer and I'm like, where is she?

[00:03:25] She was sitting in front of the food dish the whole time.

[00:03:29] Waiting for it to dispense her crunchy.

[00:03:31] Because she has a routine. Okay.

[00:03:33] I go on an eat my lunch.

[00:03:35] And then I go and eat my dry food.

[00:03:38] So she's sat there for like 45 minutes just waiting for nothing to happen.

[00:03:44] Your cat is a fat ass.

[00:03:46] I love her. She's freaking loves her food.

[00:03:49] It's a little concerning sometimes because she eats things that aren't food.

[00:03:54] But she's so pretty funny and I felt guilty.

[00:03:58] So I had it on Mac.

[00:03:59] I said, I made it go off like manually and then like 20 minutes later.

[00:04:06] But she got like double portions.

[00:04:09] You're just enabling her at this point.

[00:04:11] I feel bad. She sat there for 45 minutes.

[00:04:15] She doesn't know time. She doesn't know what time means.

[00:04:18] She just like, we know your cat is dumb.

[00:10:50] We went to another convention.

[00:11:01] We have one convention that seems to be the most annual and we go to these days.

[00:11:05] And that is, we went to Retro World once again.

[00:11:12] The thing I like about Retro World, and this is just something that unfortunately,

[00:11:17] it can only last so long because eventually things get popular.

[00:11:21] But I like Retro World because it is a very chill convention.

[00:11:24] It's very relaxed.

[00:11:25] It isn't massively popular.

[00:11:29] It's a very local convention.

[00:11:32] And it's very niche which I enjoy.

[00:11:35] It hasn't reached that kind of comic-on level where it starts to get just down

[00:11:40] or unpleasant to go because there's so many people there.

[00:11:45] Especially with how people are these days.

[00:11:49] I grew feeling that.

[00:11:51] But yeah, so we went to Retro World.

[00:11:54] It was this previous weekend.

[00:11:56] So it was...

[00:11:58] Interestingly enough, this was the first year they've done three days.

[00:12:02] Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

[00:12:09] So I'll kind of briefly just kind of give the...

[00:12:19] Friday was kind of unnecessary for this convention.

[00:12:30] Merch-like, vendor-heavy convention.

[00:12:32] Like the whole kind of thing with Retro World is it's a giant collecting like swap

[00:12:36] essentially like Bender Floor.

[00:12:39] The problem is when you go from two days to three days and you're someone who wants

[00:12:44] to go to all three days of set event, it is very easy to blow all of your money

[00:12:49] on like the Friday, like the start of the convention.

[00:12:52] As you did, no shit.

[00:12:54] Well, no, I didn't, but I came close.

[00:12:56] I had to stop myself.

[00:12:59] So I'm going to say just now like probably should go back to two days.

[00:13:21] I showed up, so it started at two in the afternoon, so kind of laid in the day.

[00:13:31] I was on like the first floor.

[00:13:32] Like we actually parked in the same exact spot every day.

[00:13:36] Because it's such a chill convention.

[00:13:38] You show up right around the opening time and like you're not going to have a problem at all.

[00:13:48] Well, I got to the hall and I was walking towards like the main entrance.

[00:13:53] I was a little early.

[00:13:54] I had the early, early bird, like early access.

[00:13:57] That's those I could get in like an hour early.

[00:14:01] So I was heading up to the thing.

[00:14:02] And I actually encountered a wild streamer on the loose who was trying to find the convention.

[00:14:07] I was quite few of those at the convention as well.

[00:14:11] Yeah, IRL streamers.

[00:14:12] This was like the first year I really saw a lot of them.

[00:14:14] But it was really interesting.

[00:14:18] If they're just finding their own business, not being obnoxious, I really don't care.

[00:14:21] It's the really obnoxious ones that bother me.

[00:14:23] This guy wasn't bad though.

[00:14:25] He was literally wandering the parking garage and he stopped me and he was like,

[00:14:30] And I'm like, you're for retroworld?

[00:14:31] He's like, yes, I'm like, follow me.

[00:14:33] So I showed him how to get in where the ticket booth and everything was.

[00:14:36] And then I...

[00:14:37] He had to get in line and I had early access.

[00:14:41] I walked right into those.

[00:14:42] I was like, bye.

[00:14:44] I had a beer.

[00:14:45] It wasn't intentional.

[00:14:46] Just kind of funny how it happened.

[00:14:48] I said, go ahead and see you.

[00:14:51] So the thing that about early access, especially on the Friday,

[00:14:54] that was really nice was I kind of got to scope out the floor.

[00:14:58] Because this was the first year that the convention center was actually on the bigger side.

[00:15:04] Interestingly, this was the first year since we've been going that it was not double booked.

[00:15:08] Yeah, they were not starting to open.

[00:15:10] There was another event there.

[00:15:12] We'll get into that on dates.

[00:15:14] But yeah, it wasn't double booked.

[00:15:16] They actually had the main convention center and everything.

[00:15:20] So it was much bigger laid out which was very deceptive on the brain because I was so used to the smaller.

[00:15:26] Because retroworld was always really good at doing a lot with less.

[00:15:31] So when they had like this hole, the bigger half of the convention center.

[00:15:34] I was like, wow, they like really stretched it out.

[00:15:36] What it was fine?

[00:15:37] Because there was a ton of walking from this time.

[00:15:40] Yeah, it was nice.

[00:15:41] It was definitely comfortable walking around.

[00:15:44] Like I got to say, I did not convince and shuffle much this year.

[00:15:49] Like I was tired after we were done, but I did not feel like shit.

[00:15:53] I didn't have that like aching my hips like for the rest of the week.

[00:15:58] No, we had pretty good amounts of steps to because I recorded all my watch.

[00:16:02] I think it was like 10,000 steps.

[00:16:06] Like after the convention and then a couple more once we got home too.

[00:16:11] So it was pretty good amount.

[00:16:13] Like to me, like what was really fun was there was obviously some high traffic areas because there was obviously the main stretch right by where the doors were located.

[00:16:24] That would occasionally get kind of cramped up.

[00:16:26] So like the benefit was when things were cramped like that there was always like a path that you could take that was like open.

[00:16:32] So you wouldn't have to like squeeze through and you could just come back later and if it was more clear.

[00:16:38] Which very nice.

[00:16:41] That being said, though we kind of I kind of scoped around and I bought a decent amount day one like because I got a lot of those early burrow deals when like a lot of the vendors were just kind of opening.

[00:16:51] So there was a lot of really good stuff.

[00:16:55] Chatted with a bunch of vendors, we'll get more of that day to and then I ended up staying for about two hours and I ended up leaving at around.

[00:17:06] So it opened it to I left it around six because I had to get back home as I record geek addicts that night.

[00:17:16] Yeah, so I ended up getting back and I recorded the next episode of geek addicts that should actually coming out this.

[00:17:25] I wanted to say it aren't going to be long out by the time this comes out but yeah, so I did that and then we went the next day so let's talk about the Saturday now.

[00:17:40] So what will be your thoughts on the center itself this year.

[00:17:45] What do you mean like the Gmechisers?

[00:17:48] Well, just like how things like what were your thoughts like on how the.

[00:17:54] On how like the thing was going to be set up like what were your thoughts on just like how the.

[00:17:59] Compared to previous years I should say.

[00:18:03] I think something's like I definitely liked that the Cometions face was a little bit bigger because I definitely like not having to like squeeze through and stuff and just having more room and like also like just not feeling like someone was over your shoulder constantly.

[00:18:17] That was definitely nice.

[00:18:20] Some of the stuff they changed there was some something change so that wasn't a fan of like before like you would always like get your wristband and stuff at the like.

[00:18:30] The things downstairs and then you go upstairs and you get like your badge and all your other stuff and you just get in line and go.

[00:18:38] This time they had it like so that people had to get their wristbands upstairs and they still do the multiple chart like you have a badge or wristband and you have to get a stamp which.

[00:18:50] It's a little excessive but okay, we talked about the last time with Josh as well like where it's it's a little stupid but the badges are.

[00:18:59] Interesting because I love I like the I like laying your badges just because it's really funny collect them all.

[00:19:05] They are so pointless.

[00:19:06] That's true world.

[00:19:08] No yeah because you have a wristband stamp and then that like so why do we need all this but so the wristband is the one that matters the stamp is the daily thing.

[00:19:20] It's I don't see the point of the stamp though it's just anyway but that's something like done every year and I always kind of thought it was done.

[00:19:28] The thing I didn't like that thing this year was a little first like Bill had early access I did not so I just sit outside and wait for him because he's a shitty bread.

[00:19:43] Okay, now but I was sitting around there but they weren't really giving any direction as to what was going on and eventually once like.

[00:19:53] Like there was no like saying like people saying oh you should line up here if you want to get in like there was nothing like that and then suddenly like five minutes before they were like okay everyone get in on and they shoved everyone in line regardless of if they already had the wristband and badge and everything into one line.

[00:20:09] So now there's all these people who are waiting who already have their stuff while they're waiting for some people to put their wristbands on and it was just kind of stupid and like at one point I was like.

[00:20:19] To the guy in front of me I was like hey do you have your wristband and badges like oh no I have to get it and I was like do you care if I go in front of you and go in the conventions like no it's fine.

[00:20:28] It was just really stupid like I hope that.

[00:20:31] Yeah, I was very poorly run.

[00:20:35] The way the corral was set up was really poor they should have had the like the little ticket stand.

[00:20:42] For things is like it wasn't even that they had table set up where people had to queue through and get their.

[00:20:50] Get their stuff but they were just letting people get it before he and so you have this mob of people who had their stuff and people who didn't have their stuff and there was no splitting of it.

[00:21:01] So it didn't make sense.

[00:21:03] It was just and then they had people running around just giving people wristband and I'm like did they even scan their back like the QR code like I don't know like.

[00:21:14] It was it was very bad.

[00:21:15] You are out there so you can't say you were I can see it through the window because I came to try and find you at one point.

[00:21:23] Yeah, like it was just dumb what they were doing.

[00:21:25] It was not only completely like what we all got in it was fine.

[00:21:29] It was just like confusing and stupid have they did it and it kind of is like not going to lie but like when you have like a shitty like start to your day it kind of hards it's kind of hard to make it better.

[00:21:41] So I just honestly like I was just a shit mood the rest of the day because like that was just dumb in the knowing.

[00:21:49] The way they should have done it was they should have had the table off to the side like before the doors like so you get the stuff there then you go to the line because they literally put the table right near the this tiny little corral.

[00:22:03] And it just had it at the boom stone stairs.

[00:22:07] Well, why do they do that this year because they had the big few there.

[00:22:12] It just didn't it didn't make sense to me I don't know.

[00:22:15] I think it's because they had the full convention center this year just they had to stay.

[00:22:19] Well, they didn't I don't it didn't make sense to me what they did but well, no but the things is that still doesn't make sense because they still had people there to buy just tickets for the day.

[00:22:34] Like none of it made to I don't know it was just really dumb and it's just like I'm sorry but like when you have a shitty start to your day it's hard to redeem it after that and I just honestly was in a bad mood for a really good way.

[00:22:45] And I'm also taking yeah the the one thing I will always give for a true world like kind of crap for is they're planning and like.

[00:22:56] Kind of like management is a little sus a times I won't lie.

[00:23:01] Well, and it gets equally confusing to because then they they bring in people who actually work at the convention center itself which is fine but like.

[00:23:09] They're all kind of doing their own thing and no one's talking to each other and it just it's confusing for everyone just trying to attend the event.

[00:23:17] I also think though it's crazy that like they don't check your ID they don't check anything like that yet you have three forms of ID to get into the actual convention but like they will give you a risk and willy nilly like I feel you could steal someone's QR code and like you would take it that you would they would be able to steal it and then you'd go to.

[00:23:38] And I'm sure I'll walk because they don't do any double verification that it's actually you like they do it kinetic on.

[00:23:45] Yeah, yeah I couldn't tell you.

[00:23:49] Yeah well they do give you the risk band before they give you the laying your.

[00:23:55] No no I'm not even talking about that I'm talking about the fact that like you scan the QR code and they just give it to you like they give all the stuff to you but they don't check like that it's actually you or anything like any other convention.

[00:24:09] Well, it not every convention does that it's like in a robust and I mean before I had the mail to me I always had to you had to show me your idea to verify that it was you save at Connecticut.

[00:24:22] I mean anyone could give a QR code and like I don't know.

[00:24:28] I just think it's silly it's like I run like that like anyone can grab the QR code but then you need like four forms of ID just don't enter much of an inch in space.

[00:24:47] But that's their choice not ours.

[00:24:56] Basically once you get through the door it's pretty good like overall otherwise.

[00:25:01] I mean like not to shit on them more but like it's not like they do much out on the floor like in terms of the vendors and stuff like that's really all because of the vendors not really because of the actual cost staff just saying.

[00:25:19] To be fair the concept at like most other images is generally more annoying in anything.

[00:25:34] But yeah besides that though the actual event itself was pretty fun like it was pretty cool just going from like booth the booth just seeing the stuff.

[00:27:20] Gameboy advanced cartridge because I was my first Pokemon game that I got really into so it was nostalgic.

[00:27:30] So I got Lucy's double fruit and it's actually a like it opens up so you can store stuff in it as well.

[00:27:40] And I was very paranoid all day that it was going to break but it came home safe and sound so we're good.

[00:29:09] And they also do a thing where they have pins and they put like gaming pins on them and kind of make these little storyboards.

[00:29:18] So this year Alex actually got one as well.

[00:29:23] So I had gotten this cool ace attorney print which I have currently my game room.

[00:29:29] I got starting value print.

[00:29:32] And then I got a couple I got two pins so I could decorate it myself and I got a crowbeys pin.

[00:29:39] Because I refuse to allow any crowbeys slander Josh, no slander of my boy crowbeys.

[00:29:49] He lives in the sewer but he's a great guy.

[00:29:53] But what's cool about that booth is that like they make everything so like they make the canvas but they also do like all the pins and stuff too.

[00:30:00] It's not like they're just buying pins like they go and they actually curate all those pins.

[00:30:05] Because you'll notice like on all the packaging it says canvas quest on all of it which is pretty cool.

[00:30:11] So I got I got crowbeys and I got linus I'm pretty sure this line is what's funny.

[00:30:19] What's fun to is though like they have some deep cuts for like there are pins and like artwork because I was just looking through it.

[00:30:26] Like I wasn't even planning on buying a pin but I was like kind of just looking down and I saw the clacks pin like.

[00:30:35] Wait, I'd already bought my canvas and I was like just looking at it well Alex was decide was kind of like debating whether she wanted anything from there.

[00:31:46] And if they didn't have one I wasn't going to get it but then they had one I was like I am so.

[00:31:51] Well what was funny was you found all the star do value pins and you were like oh my god star do value and you would grab to couple and then like I point it because you didn't notice crowbys it very.

[00:32:21] But it was really cute crowbys art because I saw a bunch of star do value and then I saw crowbys it's like him he's got his hands together like this he's happy and it's nice to because I have a little boy to egg because you can buy the boy to eggs for them and has a huge bunch of juna mows on it too.

[00:32:47] Yeah I got these cool and old cross earrings I've already worn the I've got one that was the fossils for man and old crossing and then the bell bags for man and old crossing.

[00:32:58] I've worn the ball towards twice already and I got to find an out for the bell ones because they're also equally cute but they were just like cute fun you know I like stuff like that where it's just like a fun pop of color but also like if you know you know like it's like oh I know what that's from you know I like stuff like that.

[00:33:21] Fun design like the the thing of a retro well, there's it's mostly retro games but they do have a little like kind of artist like craft area.

[00:34:42] And the best part about that is like Jaguar CDs like have like a 50 50 chance they're even gonna fucking work.

[00:36:24] And then the one that I really wanted to find I saw that was like up really cool was I found the Japanese Sailor Moon fighting game for 3D.

[00:36:55] I only had the PlayStation version of Wink Commander 3 but it was cool finding the 3D of version.

[00:37:02] There were some other 3D games but I was kind of like I wanted to spread my money out because there were a lot of them were games I already had but it was just like finding like physical well it was either games I already had or games I played in other ways.

[00:37:16] Yeah other than that though day one not a lot of other purchases I bought a family com controller which is the Japanese Super Nintendo controller with like the rainbow buttons was cool.

[00:37:25] I found a copy of the original road rash on a Genesis.

[00:37:31] I found the Thomas was a lone soundtrack which is a really cool indie game that I'm a big fan of but the music is really cool.

[00:37:41] I found railroad tycoon 2 on the Sega Dreamcast.

[00:37:44] I didn't even know that was a thing so I had to buy it and then I bought a ton of Vita games.

[00:37:52] Yeah there was a lot of Vita games out there so I'm not surprised.

[00:37:57] There was and I got a few of you.

[00:37:58] I got by that furry game though and I was pretty disappointed.

[00:38:01] I wasn't gonna pay a hundred dollars for that.

[00:38:06] But I bought Dungeon Trafflers 2 which is an RPG it's got anime characters on the cover so but like most Vita games.

[00:38:16] Because it was cheap I bought one of those like shitty code realized games because I thought it was funny probably not gonna ever play it but it's funny this has.

[00:38:26] And I bought a game called Punchline which I only bought it initially because it's by the guy who did the zero escape series.

[00:38:36] But then I like looked into it and I started like I booted it up just to see it is so fucking horny it's not even funny.

[00:38:53] And then the only other Vita game I found was a brilliant which is another anime RPG kind of game.

[00:40:10] But this year I ended up getting two can't but candles I got a star drop candle from Star to Mali which smells really nice.

[00:40:24] Actually because of the name but mostly because it actually smelled really good.

[00:54:41] What Sunday on Sunday and finally one of what they didn't want Sunday and I got to say not as good as when I had in Texas definitely not as good like I would not like I'm glad I did not wait in a car for like.

[00:54:57] I was in a lot of trouble hours for that because I wouldn't have been done.

[00:55:03] But yeah Sunday mostly chill we kind of we went to we went on Sunday and we came in later because we weren't like super.

[00:55:16] I did buy some pins because they there was a boot that had a bunch of really cool pins I got Alex say.

[00:55:24] Yes, the Luma from the.

[00:55:27] The Mario will be where it's like death is inevitable bring it to me or something like that and it was wonderful probably joy.

[00:55:36] I brought that pin for her and then I got this in New York, Open that says that's like the sit boy thing.

[00:55:44] And then I got these three Sega pins,

[00:55:46] which were the Saturn, the Dreamcast,

[00:55:51] and the Genesis I wanna say.

[00:55:52] And they were just like these cool little,

[00:55:53] it's like the console and the controller, little things.

[00:55:56] And I was at one of my favorite booths

[00:55:58] because it just plays the Wii Shop music on repeat.

[00:56:02] And the guy who runs it dresses up like buggy,

[00:56:04] the clown every year.

[00:56:06] But well he dresses up every year.

[00:56:07] I think he was cool.

[00:56:10] He was go cool last year,

[00:56:11] but he does some, like not full cosplay,

[00:56:14] but just like a kind of silly cosplay.

[00:56:17] which makes the experience even more enjoyable.

[00:58:46] I looked at even driving to it. Like how would it mine driving? Because then like, I don't know,

[00:58:52] we can talk about it. But it's what I definitely like to begin to. That one's one we have to plan.

[00:59:13] unless we were to stay down there. But if we take the train in again and then just pre-order the

[00:59:19] badges, it'll exponentially make the experience much better. Well, then it's not they're not

[00:59:25] the fucking stuck in like 2020 when it was like four years after but that's the point.

[00:59:32] Um, yeah. It's also far enough away from like retroworld that it won't be a huge deal for me.

[00:59:45] good weekend, stressful weekend, but wasn't really the convention, it was more just

[00:59:51] life. No, more just, yeah, honestly it was just kind of life for both of us where we were both just

[00:59:57] little stress. So hopefully next year we'll go in with not as much stress and not as much.

[01:01:25] it was a very very safe. It was chill, chill year, chill convention like nothing crazy happened this

[01:01:34] year. Um, but that's not a bad thing. It was relaxing. I didn't feel claustrophobic at any points

[01:01:49] about retro world that I really appreciate is people there are generally very nice. Yes, like you

[01:01:56] don't get a lot of rude people. Like if someone walks into you, they generally apologize like even

[01:02:02] if it was your fault. Like and it's just a generally cordial thing because everyone there, it's a very

[01:02:09] the kind of group that a type of an attempt to get an engine like that is generally pretty understanding.
