[00:08:16] Basically decided let's do another one for this year because the funnest part of these is not only going into them blind and seeing what what.

[00:08:26] Changes on the list, but it's also fun to see kind of how things have moved around just over the year.

[00:08:31] So what we're going to do is we're going to structure the similar tool to last year where we did.

[00:08:37] I guess I'll start then you start we'll start from 25 and count down to one.

[00:08:49] And then we'll we'll go from basically we'll kind of go one by one give a little spiel talk about why if it moved or if it's new and we'll go on from there and see how it goes.

[00:09:00] So let's see, let's do our top 25 anime lists 2024.

[00:09:10] So that was me excited.

[00:09:14] So starting off.

[00:09:17] Number 25 for me, I have Full Metal Panic, which has dropped significantly, seeing as previously it was number 20 on my list.

[00:09:31] Not that big of a drop, I would say.

[00:09:34] It went from being sort of in the middle to now it's right at the end on the borderline of being dropped off the list.

[00:09:43] I'd say honestly, it's not because I dislike the show.

[00:09:46] I think it's more just I other shows have kind of.

[00:09:52] Surceived basically they've overtaken it in terms of popularity and there's a lot of good shows that are coming out, too.

[00:09:59] There is.

[00:10:00] And also I've gained appreciation for other shows.

[00:10:03] Things have shifted around.

[00:10:04] It still made the list.

[00:10:06] I still enjoy the show.

[00:10:07] It is a very weird show.

[00:10:08] Like it's a weird hybrid.

[00:10:10] The only mech anime.

[00:10:13] I couldn't get into it, but I can see why people appreciate it.

[00:10:17] It's one of the only mech shows I can watch.

[00:10:20] It's got a weird hybrid of like high school slice of life mech action comedy.

[00:10:25] The second season is entirely comedy and then the third season is almost entirely action.

[00:10:29] It's bizarre, but I still enjoy it to this day.

[00:10:34] It is a very old anime at this point like early 2000s, but still made my list.

[00:10:40] What's your 25?

[00:10:41] My number 25 has not changed.

[00:10:44] It is Sailor Moon and it will stay there forever because Sailor Moon should always be appreciated.

[00:10:50] It's a great classic show and it brought me into anime.

[00:10:55] It was my first anime, I think pretty much.

[00:10:58] So it was my first and it will always be on my list and it will always hold that spot because I well, I can't say it's not that it's a classic.

[00:11:06] But when you go and watch it back, you're like, wow, this is not that great.

[00:11:12] Well, I mean like in terms of after I've read the manga comparing it to the original because I'm not talking about Crystal.

[00:11:18] So I'm just talking about classic Sailor Moon. It really does diverge from the manga and I feel like it takes away from some of the storylines.

[00:11:26] So I can't say that it's a perfect retelling of them. The manga is the way to go in my opinion.

[00:11:32] I will say the more recent Viz redub has helped it be a little bit less stupid.

[00:11:39] It's still I agree, but also just if you read the manga versus what you see on the show, the story is so different in the story.

[00:11:49] Yeah, so much better in the manga. It's just it's so much better.

[00:11:53] So it'll always be on my list because it's classic and it means a lot to me in terms of like, you know, follow it like having this passion for this type of content.

[00:12:01] But it's not that great of a show compared like that.

[00:12:06] It's not that great anymore if they tried to revive it and they did it poorly and they kind of I mean the later ones the movies have all been really good.

[00:12:16] But the original revival series they fucked up by doing really shitty CGI and I'm still disappointed to this day.

[00:12:24] Yeah, that's my 25.

[00:12:28] So on to 24 now.

[00:12:31] So my 24 is Naruto Shippuden which actually went up a one because it was at the end of my list last year.

[00:12:41] And it's mostly here just because I enjoy Naruto Shippuden, but it wasn't a show I was super nostalgic for.

[00:12:50] And honestly, it it survived mostly just because it's a classic.

[00:12:57] Yeah, like it's still a great show.

[00:13:00] It has a lot of filler that's downright unnecessary.

[00:13:05] And it's a bit.

[00:13:07] It's not the easiest to recommend just because of its insane length, but I still do enjoy it, especially the ending.

[00:13:13] Like I really did like how it wrapped up.

[00:13:15] But yeah, so Naruto Shippuden went up one despite basically being exactly the same place it was before.

[00:13:26] My number 24 is a new pick.

[00:13:28] It's a show I've actually watched pretty recently, but I really enjoyed it.

[00:13:32] But I'm still just it was only one season 12 episodes so I couldn't really give it a full super super high ranking, but I'm excited to see where it goes.

[00:13:41] And it's Windbreaker.

[00:13:43] And just, I guess, a quick summary for those who didn't haven't seen Windbreaker.

[00:13:47] It's all centered around this main character, Sakura, who was kind of an outcast.

[00:13:52] He basically got put into this role as this delinquent, basically because of his appearance and his lack of social skills.

[00:14:01] So he has half of his hair is black with like a dark colored eye and then the other half is white with a gold eye.

[00:14:09] So he had like an automatic delinquent appearance, but he's not dying.

[00:14:14] Most normal anime protagonist.

[00:14:17] But because of that, it kind of put him in his delinquent point.

[00:14:20] So he ended up going to the school where it ends up that the town in the school is famous for gangs.

[00:14:30] And he joins because he wants to basically become number one in the school.

[00:14:35] But what he quickly quickly learns is that these it's not your normal type of gang.

[00:14:40] This gang has come together to protect and save the town and they go by both are in.

[00:14:45] So basically, he comes in thinking it's gonna be yeah, I'm gonna fight to fight to win.

[00:14:49] But he has to learn to discover teamwork and friendship along the way.

[00:14:54] So it's a pretty good I really like the story.

[00:14:57] The characters are very well developed.

[00:15:01] Especially Sakura.

[00:15:03] You really enjoy watching him kind of grow and kind of learn that he can't go it alone.

[00:15:08] He has to become a team.

[00:15:10] He has to, you know, make friends and have support along the way.

[00:15:15] He can't do it on his own.

[00:15:16] So it's interesting to see.

[00:15:18] And I'm looking forward to season two.

[00:17:36] So I went back and rewatched it.

[00:18:09] So they're basically like training to become number one.

[00:18:12] Like only one person is going to be the person who leads.

[00:18:16] The National Japan team.

[00:18:18] Because the National Japan team apparently is really bad.

[00:18:23] And they kind of go by like the normal culture of like, we need to be a team.

[00:18:27] But in this show, it's like, it's all about ego.

[00:18:29] And you have to be an egoist.

[00:18:31] And like everyone, you have to be out for yourself.

[00:18:33] And only number one.

[00:18:35] And it's pretty cool because tensions get high.

[00:18:37] And a lot of the characters like get all grr.

[00:18:40] And it's good.

[00:18:41] I really enjoyed it.

[00:18:42] So I'm glad I gave it a second chance.

[00:18:45] When I put myself in the mindset, this is not Haikyuu.

[00:18:48] This is a very different show.

[00:18:50] It's sports, but not that.

[00:18:52] And it was very good.

[00:18:53] So I recommend just don't go into the mindset that it's Haikyuu like I did.

[00:19:14] But it is Persona 4 The Animation.

[00:19:19] My favorite game-based anime by far.

[00:19:23] And that's because the Persona 4 anime is just legitimately really good.

[00:19:27] It's very funny.

[00:19:28] It follows the story of the original game, not Golden.

[00:19:32] Because there is a Golden anime, but that one kind of sucks.

[00:19:34] We don't talk about that.

[00:19:36] It's not dubbed anyways.

[00:19:38] And it barely follows the actual game.

[00:19:40] It just kind of follows the merry stuff.

[00:19:42] Which is fine.

[00:19:44] But I don't really care for it.

[00:19:48] The original anime, though, follows the main base game to a T.

[00:19:52] And it fleshes out a bunch of the lesser social links that didn't get as much attention.

[00:19:58] Almost all the voice cast returns for it.

[00:20:02] It was basically what started the Yunar Kami as a memetic badass trend.

[00:20:07] Yes.

[00:20:08] They gave him so much life as a character.

[00:20:11] And it's legitimately just funny.

[00:20:13] It is a really funny anime.

[00:20:17] Great way to experience the game if you don't have time to play an almost 100-hour RPG.

[00:20:25] That is also my only game anime on the list.

[00:20:29] The other ones I had previously have sadly left the list this year.

[00:20:38] My number 22 is ZOM 100, Bucket List of a Dead.

[00:20:44] This one we watched pretty recently.

[00:20:46] And we talked about it on the podcast pretty recently.

[00:20:51] But my reasoning for not including it was mostly just because I want to wait until the next season comes out.

[00:20:59] It's kind of like Jujutsu Kaisen.

[00:21:00] Where the first year I liked it, but I hadn't seen season 2 yet.

[00:21:04] And then after seeing season 2, I was like, yeah, I like this one.

[00:23:06] And Hayuka is a slice-of-life kind of borderline rom-com, like, romance anime.

[00:23:14] But the way they changed this one up is it has a mystery aspect to it where one of the running themes is, like, every episode there's kind of, like, a mystery that they have to solve going on in the school based off of some weird...

[00:23:28] This is more kind of, like, something...

[00:47:39] And then it ends up being two different sides of like, the main character wants to revive

[00:47:45] Well, the other character wants to only revive the young people and not the old people.

[00:47:51] So it ends up becoming a battle.

[00:47:54] It goes into an actual war between them with like fighting and their science behind.

[00:56:15] So, she kind of experiences the first party member's death.

[00:56:28] It really hits her that like she didn't truly get to know him during that time.
