[00:00:14] like the first episodes where we found our peek, but after listening to this I think we were kind of boring back then, but it's interesting to look back and we'll discuss some more. But onto the episode everybody! The Gameplay The Gameplay The Gameplay The Gameplay The Gameplay

[00:00:40] The Gameplay So how are you Ben? I'm good, Bill. Now are you? I thought you were done with this. Nope, it's my grandmother. Are you done or can we start the episode now? Well, we already started the episode! Are you kidding me?

[00:01:05] I'm not listening to that the entire episode. I didn't hear you! Like, you won't do it my first time, so did you! So how are you Ben? Seriously? When was the last time we recorded? Like a week ago. It was... a Wednesday. It's not Wednesday. It's Saturday.

[00:01:27] It is Saturday. Because we're recording because you're not available on Wednesdays at the moment, so we're recording on a Saturday. Well, it's different. Well, it's for like three weeks. For now. Yeah. I'm good. I mean, National's isn't not next week, but the week after, so I've been busy.

[00:01:47] And then work's been busy. It's been busy. And then I have a little cool baby. I took her to the vet for the first time. Do you want to hear about that? Sure.

[00:01:59] Well, so on the day before I took her to the vet, which I took her on I think it was Tuesday or Thursday. I think it was Tuesday. I left work a little bit early. And I but the night before that

[00:02:15] I like picture. I tried to pick her up as a trial run which I was able to but I did get clogged quite a bit which wasn't fun. So the next day she has this toy that she's obsessed with. It has like a little bit of a

[00:02:29] little stick and like a little bit of feathery strings on it and it spins around and changes direction all the time she's obsessed with it. So she was playing with that and she gets into a point where she lays down. She just like goes like

[00:02:43] thump, thump and just like keeps wapping it from one spot. So while she was doing that I just painted her and she was like she was like she was like I just painted her down and I just grabbed her

[00:03:01] and held her out in front of me so she couldn't claw her at me and then she just like looked at me with this face of like what are you doing and I ran up the stairs and I just threw her in the guest room

[00:03:11] because I was like okay, I know I was going to drop her if I tried to shove her into a bag so I was like I'm just going to shove her in the room so I took a moment to be like

[00:03:21] okay I did that. Step one, step two get her in the bag and I made a noise that I have never heard a cat make. It was like a human scream it was terrifying No, I'm not kidding like she made this scream that was so human

[00:03:37] and so loud and so angry and I was like I'm sorry so she immediately hit under the bed so I knew what I had to do, I had to take the bed apart so I took all the fellas I pulled the mattress off the bed

[00:03:51] I tilted against the wall and she was like what the hell she was like I can't even hide under here and then eventually I just kind of got her cornered and I was just like yes and she got in the bag and she cried all through the house

[00:04:11] and as soon as the car started moving silent and as soon as we got out of the car screaming so, so great So when you take her to the groomer to be a Oh yeah, the first time with the groomer

[00:04:25] well that was why I had to take her to the vet because she needed a shot she basically needed a shot like to go to the groomer just like as a policy they have there so I gave it, I got it down

[00:04:37] and it's just for her safety too just because it is an environment where she'll be around other cats so she just needed the vaccine but when I took her to the vet the vet started asking she's like so what are you feeding her

[00:04:53] and I was like well she's gonna make some adult kitten food that's like what the organization told me to feed her and she's like yeah get her off the kitten food she's getting a little chunky back here so pooh's fat so she's off the kitten food

[00:05:08] which is pretty funny and what else oh yeah and then she also told me I asked too she's a fluffy cat so she looked at her butt and she's like wow she's really clean down here no take a bite yeah nothing

[00:05:28] but then I asked and I was like alright this is a weird question and the vet was like nothing's weird to me she may think this is weird but I was just like she takes massive turns and I literally went and showed they're like this big

[00:05:44] this big around and she's her butt okay like hey what's up Sam look they're huge and they're all like a lot so I asked she's like no she's fine and I was like okay you didn't ask about the fact that she eats everything inside well yeah I said

[00:06:10] probably a little bit of that yeah so that was fun but yeah I'm taking her to the groomer next weekend next Sunday usually I would say hey let's go crack a braille but I actually have to stay I think for like the first

[00:06:26] part of it or for the whole appointment maybe because she's a kitten so they do like a kitten consultation you don't just throw the cat at them and hope for the best so that should be interesting I mean like once like

[00:06:40] she was on the table like at the vet like she was fine like she didn't she didn't hiss at them she didn't scream at them she wasn't happy but she like wasn't being mean or anything so hopefully that's a good sign

[00:06:52] but yeah I asked the vet if her giant turds meant something and they don't so lovely that's my update what about you oh I got new manga what about you no fuck your story I got manga fuck your story fuck your story fuck your baby not good

[00:07:21] so I bought a volume of magi and I had bought I went back and I looked I have bought a different volume they sent me a different volume I tried to contact the seller and then they the seller mysteriously disappeared so I got scammed which sucks

[00:07:39] but I sold the volume to a local store for one dollar that's one dollar you didn't have before so no it's it's nine dollars that I lost well you would have gotten nothing if you just ponded off on me so you got something no true

[00:08:01] so I got a dollar but then I was like of course I need to look around so I'm looking through all the manga and then of course I get I kind of browse through I grabbed they had a volume of the apocatary diaries and I was like

[00:08:11] oh this is like half expensive as the normal price you know I took that I got the first volume of that but then I was looking around I was looking at stuff and I noticed Trigun I was like oh it's like really old

[00:08:25] like I sent you a photo of it but I got couple I got three volumes which is pretty sick those were all like full price though those were all like ten bucks each because they're very rare so that was pretty cool but I got through volumes of Trigun

[00:08:41] which is pretty sick and now I have to collect the rest well the big special editions are coming up pretty well yeah yeah I'll buy those too but I might as well collect those as I see them you got the bug I do but your fault

[00:09:01] you gave me the bug oh speaking of bugs these gross do you see those creepy long like beetle bug things they have like little pincers they keep trying to get into my house and every time they do in the morning I just smush them

[00:09:19] and I think I have like like 20 of dead corpses in my friend Tor it happens I need to clean it but they just keep every time I just smush I'm like you're not getting my house mostly because I had this one time

[00:09:35] when I was living back at the apartment one of them got into my coffee straw I didn't see it I drank my coffee and like I could not drink coffee for a week after that because I kept throwing up in my mouth

[00:09:51] they threw me coffee for a week because of course I fucking swung sorry I'm thinking about it it was traumatizing so I fucking hate those bugs and I squished them on site lovely I went on an adventure yesterday before I got home from work

[00:10:09] I was a fucking monsoon out yeah I tried going to dance and I got soaked immediately and said fuck this also couldn't even get out onto the street I attempted to get onto the street no one would let me out I sat there for like 10 minutes

[00:10:25] I was like fuck this well while I was out though I went up to the Manchester mall because I've been trying to hunt for CDs again because that's my new thing again and I went into Newbury I checked the manga section unfortunately I'm like

[00:10:43] at the point of manga now the stuff that I'm collecting is all ongoings and the things that aren't ongoings are really rare and hard to find so kind of a you get what you get kind of situation yeah so I didn't really buy any manga

[00:10:59] this time around I bought mostly just CDs I bought some more comics because I'm still into American comics but I was at the mall and it was pouring out so I figured I'd kill some more time and I went up to the figure store and I have to

[00:11:15] I have to say that store is really nice the people that work there are super nice but they must get some stinky people in there because they mask the fuck out of whatever smell is in that store at times they also do the gaming

[00:11:31] like they do the instruments and that's probably not trying to be mean I'm making you that's probably with a store like that it's kind of expected but whenever I go in there now you always get that whiff of some sort of concealing smell it's not unpleasant

[00:11:49] but it's like yeah they're hiding something must have had a game night if figures are expensive yes you just found that out I don't know I've bought the total of the figures upstairs because I'm sure it's like a thousand dollars no I mean yeah probably I mean Alex

[00:12:10] my game collection my comic collection my other collection I have a lot of things that are worth a lot of money so that doesn't really bother me no I'm still looking into that you should insure it yeah I know I have other bills I gotta pay for though

[00:12:26] first yeah and you gotta take care of your niece next not this next week but the week after also like it's always annoying looking at figures like when you're not into like shows like before anyone oh there's a difference between I'm not into manly men like you are

[00:12:46] hey we love the busy men that's not a dig at you that's just me not being into manly men sorry why not Bill you're not into disease or joe's will I like I like ladies I like I don't really care that much but I'm going through the figures

[00:13:14] and I'm always like you go through like the aisle that's nothing with those super horny ones yours like Ian no not for me not for me chief so I have to it's a lot more of a pick or choose kind of thing I did pick up

[00:13:28] I got a character from that time we were incarnated as a slime I forget her name but she's one of the villains of the new arc oh yeah she was one of the demons yeah like one of the the main ones

[00:13:47] I love the one that like has the long hair and isn't like a maid uniform that you don't think is the leader first I got her she was like 20 bucks so not bad nice then I got on a Yamada from dangers in my heart

[00:14:06] I don't know what that is I know it's not series you'd watch weird romcom but it's entertaining it's a show I would watch what show did I watch? I just finished a show I finished Mashedly recently season 2 which was pretty fun his love of cream puffs

[00:14:28] really makes me want to eat a cream puff which is the only thing I don't like about it cause it makes me freaking hungry he's constantly eating cream puffs yeah what else I don't want to watch there well I finished the apocatary diaries

[00:14:42] which I honestly is it bad I want to go back and rewatch it it was really good like I'm all watching again it's bad I might watch it again I still need to watch Sandland well I started my yearly binge of trash TV I'm not sure

[00:15:02] it's just the content you need when you just want to feel better about yourself wow these people are hot garbage some of the stuff he can arguments about are so fucking stupid like I'm on the second season right now we're like this bitch literally they wrote a letter

[00:15:22] none of them can tell they're all just stupid one of them was dating this guy and he's actively cheating on her so two of the other people wrote her a note to be like hey he's cheating on you and then she stays with him

[00:15:38] even though he cheated on her it was like it was so stupid I'm like wow makes me feel better about myself that's what I'm watching if I want to watch garbage that just makes me question the world I'll just put TLC on it makes me like sad though

[00:15:58] some of the stuff they put on there because I don't know some of the TLCs are manipulating I don't watch it for entertainment I watch it for views and ratings I watched it just to be baffled by the fact that

[00:16:10] they thought this was a good idea for a television series I mean that's what Jersey Shore is too no I can see where I can see the merit on that that's a different kind of trash there was a a whole entire TLC show dedicated to a funeral home

[00:16:26] and how they made wacky funerals and I was like what the fuck is this that exists yeah and apparently the funeral home in it is really scummy for the show ended good I was watching a TLC iceberg and I was like what the fuck

[00:16:44] I didn't know this existed and the whole time the person doing the iceberg was like it's the learning company are you learning no I'm scared scared also I didn't realize cake boss ended I thought that was just going to forever be a thing didn't you remember

[00:17:00] there's like some I think one of the brothers or cousins got accused of being a pedophile that was season 2 Alex that was season 2 oh I thought that was later no that was wicked early in the series really? well people have gone to like his cakes are everywhere

[00:17:22] you can just buy them wherever I figured out why the show ended it was Covid oh that's a long time yeah they just never brought it back he probably just like I won't fucking do this anymore he's like I'm good I have so much money he's probably voted

[00:17:40] he's probably fucking rich he is he lives in a fucking mansion that's the reason he came back recently was because did you see the report about his hand got fucking stabbed through because he was trying to fix his bowling alley in his house huh that's scary

[00:17:56] and he had a whole like documentary on Amazon on DLC or whatever Amazon Prime or whatever about his recovery and I was like this is what happened that's like a rich person problem show oh that's gross I can't believe I made that I was just so surprised

[00:18:14] I was like wow what a turn this is ill my favorite part was though they show during the iceberg they showed all the clips of the family fighting or dropping the cakes down the stairs I was like oh yeah this show was hot garbage

[00:18:30] yep it was a good show those cakes were pretty great but they were mostly rice cakes crispy cheats I meant to actually ate one of those big elaborate cakes and someone just handed me some chichi giant rice crispy yo like that fucking suck yeah

[00:18:50] they give me some of the styrofoam they probably put in I just wanted one of the giant cannolis that was really about it oh yeah wait you've had cannolis from the place down the street right I got yeah I thought you had those

[00:19:04] you haven't had the pizza yet though right no you need the pizza that's a good pizza maybe well actually wait tomorrow you want to go to the real place well wait if you're we'll talk after but um yeah so other than that it's been crazy yesterday

[00:19:24] was nuts I bought anime figures so yeah me yeah I don't have any oh yeah shut up miss has slopes about them on the daily oh yeah I've started a new thing now we're like when I'm in that

[00:19:43] when I'm in the store and you get to like the judging stairs from outside I just stare back I just stare them down harder from the inside of the store because they're not because they won't come in so I'm just like

[00:19:57] next time you should bring to put your hands on the glass and do like creepy tail I don't want to do that because that would dirty the glass and the people would have to clean it I don't want to be an asshole to the peoples that work there

[00:20:09] um but yeah you used to no I thought you froze for a minute to be honest all right well if she's gonna be could you do that no not really all right tell me if you can hear my breathing

[00:20:32] I don't want to play this game during the episodes please can we move on well we already wasted one minute yeah and I don't want to waste more time on something that no one can hear or see because you won't let me post the video

[00:20:46] oh my god and my hair looks like shit like I went to dance studio today and I showered after that okay let's move on from something um just let's just move on to something that people can actually hear and not just be listening to nothing

[00:21:06] so for this episode we're getting very close to 200 episodes which is insanity no we're not we're getting close to that big milestone so we've actually been revisiting a lot of stuff from the show's history like we've changed quite a bit on the show recently like the um

[00:21:26] we have a new logo now our bitmojis are completely different uh we have an intro looking at the bitmoji then versus now yeah um so this is a new logo yeah um so this isn't going to be a full recurring series like if we do these ever again

[00:21:48] it's probably going to be like a bonus thing on like the youtube channel or something not as a main episode but um we're looking back at another old episode of the show so the last time we did this we looked at our first episode which was a cringe

[00:22:02] fest and um I don't care what anyone says I know like some people tell me they still like it I can't stand that you're crazy um but for this episode we're going to try actually looking back at the episode where I feel like we actually found

[00:22:18] our stride which was episode 9 weird ps1 games from our childhood back when I tried to have like super unique titles for every episode um it took us 8 episodes it took us 8 episodes to figure it out well yeah I mean to be fair episode 8 I'd say

[00:22:38] it was also really good if it wasn't for the shit audio that we had at the time yeah um but yeah I also loved for the audio listeners they can't really see this but if you look back at the thumbnail for the episode it's so funny how different

[00:22:56] the thumbnail style has is mostly the same although it's different in certain aspects like I used to try to put like just generic emojis down in the title for some reason stop doing that that was pointless um the bitmoji app did not give you background

[00:23:12] less bitmojis at this time so I yeah so they always had the light background yeah and I would shove them in one of the four corners rather than um doing it in the main incorporate with the center shot um and for some reason I decided to slant the

[00:23:28] at barber who games text which is funny because that text is kind of redundant now because we're we've moved on to different uh branding at this point oh yeah that's funny but yeah so now we have our own instagram

[00:23:42] well yeah we have that and we're also part of um a network now so oh yeah I gotta update my little sub text thingy yeah but so anyways guys for this episode we're gonna be listening and reacting to weird ps1 games from our childhood

[00:24:00] so let's jump into this insanity ah the old anchor stock music and the clips the game is the cheat system the cheat system I don't remember the cheats so the cheats the game it's not so much the cheats the crackle in my audio

[00:24:24] bothers the fuck out of me I'm not gonna lie it was we were starting out well a little background so this was recorded over the spider-man will just pop up on the screen and punch it into something not I don't even know what oh no we were using

[00:24:40] discord so so we were using discord at the time but we were it was we were talking over discord but individually saving files to yes and sending it to um sending it back to um we would put them in the google drive and I would name them

[00:25:00] really dumb names yeah well not by this point you were just being pretty standard with it um I don't know I feel like this was no because you didn't really get crazy with them until like head heads and uh with a we episode I feel like oh god

[00:25:23] oh no oh yeah I did a purge I did a purge all my files because I had no room on my my google drive anymore unfortunate actually hold on oh I still have I still have them on my face see let's see

[00:25:47] aw dang it it is just weird p.s. yeah you didn't you didn't do it so later but yeah my setup at the time was literally my I had the laptop on one ottoman and then I had my mic on another ottoman and I was in

[00:26:03] a pc chair hunched over it was it was bad and you could hear probably everything because that mic was shitty but it was a starter mic so it was a goddess started at the time well no we didn't either this also this music is so also flip to

[00:26:25] it's not the most funny intro you can get very creative yeah that's the reason I dropped the teaser clips just because they were getting so much harder to find funny moments like just that were clip-able yeah I feel like this wasn't like a funny one

[00:26:43] this was more of just like he picks like a the the the that's it for me bling da da da da da da hey guys and welcome back to the game I love how much cleaner my audio is here because I recorded this on a different setup

[00:27:11] oh yeah I really been talking this either well no because we tried having us alternate but it was a pain in the ass as we discuss the game well you can keep it together or you'd forget the lines oh we should fun fact

[00:27:37] so how you been had not been established yet by this point I didn't start with a so but I didn't start with how you been when did we then start to look through I don't remember weird we've been doing that from the beginning

[00:27:55] because it was a great way to just get started I will I will say what's funny is I dropped doing the little intro segments because so at the time I was doing those off the cuff and it just got super I stopped

[00:28:09] I like I said just stopped liking doing them and then we had it we had like our own little intros for a while we did just record first we record one for the season and then we would be like good yep but since then

[00:28:25] we've now replaced the intro with intro music and I've brought back the opening like little like like a little speech but now it's more just a quick little abrupt start and then on to the episode kind of thing it's not these weird like me trying to summarize

[00:28:43] the episode we did so yeah basically guys the theme for this episode is we're going to basically we're gonna take I have a stack of PS1 games that we played back as kids when we first got our old classic PS not a PlayStation a PS1 the smaller version

[00:29:01] still on that so I got a stack of games we played back and it was portable but um tech we're still interrupting me all the time then hey I'm your sister it's my job just go down them and kind of give our memories of them

[00:29:19] some of them are pretty good some of them are pretty garbage license oh my god you can hear our dad playing bass in the background which is what we grew listen closely to my audio you can hear dad playing bass was actually Rugrats in Paris that is so

[00:29:41] noticeable the funniest part about this one is I think for the longest time we didn't even realize there was a single player yeah yeah what game are we talking about right now I don't know come here like you gotta help me play Rugrats in Paris

[00:29:57] oh Rugrats in Paris there you go well yeah because there was two options there was the single player story and then there was the minigames when was this episode released there was a bunch of minigames that you have to play to get tickets and stuff

[00:30:13] but there's a two player mode I'm gonna do some research play the minigames and as a kid at the ripe old age of 5 ripe old age of 5 oh the hiccups we thought that just was the game so we played a lot of the minigames

[00:30:33] I know one of them was whack-a-mole 2021 this was recorded well that was the year we started the podcast though yeah was the minigolf because it took forever yep I think we quit a lot of the times like halfway through that was where I learned about the rage quit

[00:30:53] well it reminds me now the rage quit you still do the rage quit hey I almost rage quit on the drive to dance today was having the worst drive so I rage quit everything yeah why did I do this to myself and that's what it was

[00:31:15] why did we do this it's also the reason why our original PlayStation 1 controller is like Borked Beyond Belief Borked you were the queen slamming it on the ground when you lost I think I always slammed the controller yes you did you totally did I remember too

[00:31:35] you just admitted that you did this was my 2021 I would use the aftermarket one because it was red and it was see-through it was made by mad cats I thought it was green

[00:31:47] no we had the green one too but the red one was the one that we used the most because the red one was the turbo controller we brought that mad cat's controller factor in the controller episode years later

[00:31:57] oh yeah that was the one with all of our friends yeah but in reality I still own it I have to pull it out at some point the classic alex yeah just made it wait wait what I didn't hear it listen closely

[00:32:17] we used the aftermarket one because it was red and it was see-through it was made by mad cats I thought it was green no we had the green one too but the red one was the one that we used the most

[00:32:27] because the red one was the turbo controller that red one I just thought it looked cooler because it was see-through and it was bright red yeah but in reality I still own it I have to pull it out at some point

[00:32:39] I want to make a blog post about it at some point but um oh yeah I was still talking about the the instagram vlog all the time at this point no yeah I feel like you never bring it up now so anyway yeah but other than that

[00:32:53] Instagram's kind of dead so understood super car game because that was the one that you were really good at for some reason I feel like we always had some mini games with everything we played there were always just some things that I was innately good at

[00:33:09] and then some things that you were just much more better at you have much more better much more better much more better I was like yeah I'm better okay so anyway moving on to another game another big one this isn't a timeline of the games we played

[00:33:27] I just wanted to start with Rugrats because that was the first game we played on the PlayStation together yeah that was like our introduction to the PlayStation that's probably bullshit we probably played something else first but for the sake of the episode

[00:33:39] it was the first game we played at the time sure but um another game that uh jumping around a bit is uh do you remember PS1 Monopoly yeah I remember us playing Monopoly quite a bit too so PS1 Monopoly is

[00:33:55] you couldn't throw the board though in the PS1 game makes it infinitely less fun no you just throw the controller yeah but it's not as fun as flipping the board there's that a NAICS has factions that's going it would like animate the items as they run

[00:34:13] across the board this is still my favorite part of that game is the animated items and stuff we were slightly creepy I was always on team Thimble for life Thimble! I'm still on team Thimble for life Phil there's Thimbles in our supply closet at work I was like

[00:34:35] Thimble? I didn't grab one cause I don't need one you were the dog you alternated between the dog or you were the top hat oh yes the top hat and I remember why you were the top hat the top hat flapped its wings

[00:34:51] as it flew across the board I knew top hat with wings you just need a top hat so you can do a Sabo cosplay well I mean that eventually too speed up cosplay I don't know what I'm gonna do for Kneticon yeah

[00:35:09] my Nikita one will be too hot yeah probably I always remember like the because we couldn't read at the time because we couldn't read at the time I remember I selected the bankruptcy option thinking what does this do and then we just lost

[00:35:27] yeah I can see myself doing the game over screen it's kind of creepy it's the top hat guy like Mr. Monopoly it's Mr. Money Vex I always thought his name was Mr. Monopoly I don't remember that I don't remember that oh my god one of these days

[00:35:47] we're gonna have to play it again I want to have like a four player round of that at some point just because it is such a trip instead we played the modern one but looking back I'm laughing so much because when we played it

[00:36:01] I forgot we didn't know a bank reposiment we didn't know what happened we couldn't read what's that what's that dw line this sign can't stop me I can't read it's not at all it's always dw we always bring her back especially the game of life

[00:36:25] no one ever not follows the rules for life or no in real life too the proper way to play it no one plays it right no one jumping along again let's go with um another game do you remember the rocket power game rocket power

[00:36:47] I don't remember that game now you didn't really play this one much more this was one of the ones where you just kind of watched me play more than anything process I don't remember it you know it's funny we were holding in swears still by this point yeah

[00:37:05] this game is like an extreme sports game and it has like snowboarding this is one really where we hit our stride I'm starting to question that now but seems we're still a bit uptight the story mode starts off with snowboarding we have a structure the previous episodes

[00:37:23] we don't have hate how you've been where's the hate how you've been we adapted a lot so then you have to the second mission is you have to do this like roller skate you have to find all the bike pieces in like a time limit

[00:37:35] and the controls are so loose and slippery I could never do it I always just rage quit most of my time in that game I spent exploring the the roller skating world map in like free play mode and trying to learn how to do stunts

[00:37:49] and just being straight with it this game was incredibly boring that was a trip it was a trip apparently I think that was like your first like your first game like was like not playing I'm not gonna lie this is a little cringy for me still

[00:38:07] why cause you were still restrained yeah I just like I don't sound like myself like I sound so like trying to still be like professional not me now I just don't give a shit we can take a glance over cause we played it for literally probably

[00:38:25] I just do whatever I want now and I mess with Bill I like to point out that we didn't oh this is the intro clip no no it's not this is where we fast forward to not check the sound they like they like rocket power oh spongebob

[00:38:43] well which is funny though cause we did I love how your mom impression has always been the same you could get but those are good games not really impressions that's your internal how you just think of your mother I love mom she's a wonderful lady
