[00:00:00] Hey guys, on this episode of Gaming and Collecting, it's time for another entry in our The Games That Shaped Us series.
[00:00:06] This time we're going to be talking about the MySim series created by EA Redwood Shores, mostly for the Wii with occasional games for the DS as well.
[00:00:15] Yeah, another spin-off of the Sim series. They're kind of interesting games and we played them a lot as kids.
[00:00:21] So yeah, enjoy the episode guys and roll the intro.
[00:00:30] So, how you been? You just don't exist, okay. I'm by myself.
[00:00:51] Oh, it's been a day. Yeah, it's been a week so far. It's Wednesday.
[00:00:59] Last weekend I felt like I didn't do anything last weekend, aside from mom coming over, but like at the same time.
[00:01:08] So much fucking stuff last weekend. Can we trade?
[00:01:12] Well no, I had to work. So I'd rather I bet you'd rather not have to work.
[00:01:17] I don't know, it was two really long days filled of dancing and you know, I love dancing.
[00:01:22] Do you have to get up at 3am to get to work?
[00:01:25] No, but I had to get up pretty early. I had to get up at 4am to go to a dance competition.
[00:01:30] So, and then I had to go dance! At least that worked. You can do whatever the fuck. Like they're not watching. They don't care.
[00:01:40] Yeah, it's like hit or miss on whether the boss shows up or not.
[00:01:47] And your buddy Chip was in this week. Not the chip you're thinking of. The other chip.
[00:01:58] The other chip? The humorous one. The one that his name isn't actually Chip. I'm using it as Chip.
[00:02:03] Oh, okay. I was so confused. I was like, I didn't know he was coming. Oh, cool.
[00:02:08] Yeah, and now because he's there all the fucking managers have like sticks up their ass and are acting like it's the end of the world.
[00:02:15] So yeah, that's usually what happens. That's one thing I will say about the place I work.
[00:02:20] Not the management is located over like the corporate is located overseas and they don't really come.
[00:02:29] So you don't really have to deal with that stuff. But at the same time, it's also kind of tricky because then you have like the more lax side of that where things don't get done.
[00:02:41] But that's what I'm trying to fix. So because that's my job is to fix things and make it run well. I have the support. So we're good. We're good.
[00:02:49] But yeah, no, I don't miss that though. I don't miss those days. I don't miss them at all.
[00:02:57] Did you go? Did you like stare at the sun too long and go blind like a bunch of idiots? No, I didn't see a fucking happen.
[00:03:03] Like I was in my I was working. I was in a factory. Like how the fuck was I supposed to go see it? We were supposed to be working, but we went outside.
[00:03:13] So hey, hey, I didn't even go up by choice. Literally one of the engineers was like, hey, come on.
[00:03:19] We're going to go look at the eclipse. And I was just like, fuck it. Why not? Yeah.
[00:03:24] No, she used to go outside. I think don't was that what day was that? Was that Monday or Tuesday? Monday.
[00:03:32] Monday. Oh, I went out and got coffee. That's what I did. I went out and got a coffee.
[00:03:38] But you didn't fall for all the brain rot on TikTok thinking the world was going to end?
[00:03:42] No, well, I deleted the TikTok app because like I really didn't need it when Reels is just as sufficient as TikTok.
[00:03:51] You deleted the brain rot. Yeah, I mean, I'm still brain rot on the Reels, but now I can just send them to people more easily like Slade.
[00:04:00] Hi, Slade. Sorry for sending you hot garbage all the time.
[00:04:06] I said you hot garbage too though, too, right?
[00:04:08] What's wrong with me? Oh, so in other news, I finally turned my heat off. Oh, me too.
[00:04:20] Yay. What are you drinking, Bill? Oh, because it's warm here is what we're implying. It's been like 60s, 70s all week.
[00:04:29] I think we survived winter's final middle finger last week.
[00:04:34] I'm drinking liquid death. I just knocked on some wood. Wow! So am I. What liquid death are you partaking in today, Bill?
[00:04:43] Convicted melon.
[00:04:45] Wow. Aren't you going to ask me what I'm drinking? Are you going to read the ingredient label? No, I'm just going to read what it is.
[00:04:56] Alright, I'll mute you if you lie. So. Read what it is, okay? Okay. What are you drinking?
[00:05:05] I'm drinking an armless Palmer, which is iced tea, agave, and vitamins.
[00:05:14] Oh yeah, you're drinking the liquid death tea. Yes. The only complaint I have is I wish it was still carbonated.
[00:05:21] I know that sounds weird, but it's just like, I don't know. I'm so used to liquid death being carbonated. I feel like it could work carbonated.
[00:05:28] So that's my only complaint. Not complaint. I still like it, but.
[00:05:32] If you buy the original white cans, those aren't carbonated. It was only from the black cans onward that they started carbonating them.
[00:05:40] Ah. Look at those losers with our liquid death. Hey, it's bougie water that doesn't use plastic.
[00:05:50] Bougie, yes. So we talk with our tooth clenched because of fancy. Bill, please talk like this as well.
[00:06:00] Try it. Clench your teeth. No! No! You cannot talk about leaf clenched!
[00:06:10] I love you.
[00:06:14] Or you'll just meet yourself.
[00:06:17] How could you not hear that?
[00:06:20] Maybe if I cry over here.
[00:06:24] Nope.
[00:06:26] Really? You can't handle high pitches.
[00:06:29] Let me.
[00:06:35] Nope.
[00:06:39] Could you hear that? Yeah, it sounded like a wet fart.
[00:06:44] This is a wet fart. That's fine. Your face is blurry.
[00:06:48] Go fuck yourself.
[00:06:53] Yeah. And Alex just threw up everywhere.
[00:07:00] But yeah, so we've burned through 14 minutes.
[00:07:04] You know I have not watched. Oh, we should strive for 15.
[00:07:07] I haven't watched any anime in a while. I've been kind of animated out.
[00:07:12] Yeah, I actually, well I was watching Ask Class and then I took a break and I was just like, I want to watch some superhero movies that I haven't seen before.
[00:07:21] So I watched, well I watched, what's it called? The team of bad guys one.
[00:07:28] Suicide Squad. Yeah, I watched the original.
[00:07:31] And then I watched Birds of Prey. So you watched the bad one, then you watched the good one.
[00:07:36] I watched Birds of Prey and then I watched the other suicides. The Suicide Squad.
[00:07:41] So the good one.
[00:07:43] Yeah, it was a lot more gory than I was expecting but no man, I liked it.
[00:07:47] I really like the shark guy.
[00:07:50] I like that he kept trying to eat people. And the rat lady. And the little rat that waved all the time. He was real cute. Really liked him.
[00:07:56] Wouldn't want him in my house but I liked him from afar.
[00:08:00] Yeah.
[00:08:02] Birds of Prey was funny too but I was like, I gotta watch the trilogy. Like I gotta watch all three.
[00:08:08] Oh did you see the new trailer for Joker?
[00:08:12] Yeah it looks interesting. It's dark so.
[00:08:16] I haven't, I've only seen pictures. I haven't actually watched the full trip.
[00:08:20] Yeah. You know.
[00:08:22] But I'm excited that Lady Gaga is the new Harley Quinn.
[00:08:28] That's cool I guess. Well it is a different Joker so yeah that's fine then.
[00:08:32] I was gonna say because I kind of liked Margaret Robbie as Harley Quinn.
[00:08:36] No yeah I did too.
[00:08:39] But I also think Lady Gaga is gonna do a good job.
[00:08:44] Well I was gonna say, I forgot that's a different universe. If it's a different character version of the character, that's fine.
[00:08:49] Also I heard that this might be a musical. Someone told me it might be a musical.
[00:08:54] Sure why not?
[00:08:55] Which I was like, that's cool.
[00:08:57] I don't know what DC is doing with movies anymore so.
[00:09:01] Me either. Honestly I don't even know what Marvel, what was the last Marvel movie to come out?
[00:09:06] I don't even know.
[00:09:10] The last one I cared about was the Spider-Man one with all the Spiderman's in it.
[00:09:15] I haven't seen that one yet. Now I'm like really curious.
[00:09:19] So it's, the only Marvel film I'm looking forward to seeing is the third Deadpool just because it has Hugh Jackman in the yellow suit.
[00:09:29] Like I want to see that once.
[00:09:32] What was the last Marvel, Endgame was not the last Marvel movie to come out.
[00:09:37] Okay.
[00:09:38] What?
[00:09:40] Oh I think it was the Marvels which I heard was bad.
[00:09:44] Yeah that's what I heard too.
[00:09:49] Oh yeah Deadpool and Wolverine.
[00:09:51] I'm looking forward to that. That I'm looking forward to.
[00:09:56] Yeah, I'm like I'm looking at all these series that they're showing and I'm like I don't even know who these are.
[00:10:03] The only live action superhero thing that I really enjoy right now which is sadly ending soon is Superman and Lois the CW Superman show.
[00:10:15] It's getting its fourth and final season.
[00:10:20] Oh Marvel movies in chronological order.
[00:10:24] Oh wait no no no. Chronological order won't be helpful.
[00:10:29] Anyways we're getting off topic but yeah that's what I did this week.
[00:10:35] I was watching those but I actually restarted watching.
[00:10:40] Well I just caught back up to where I was.
[00:10:44] Oh my god sorry my throat just got flimmy.
[00:10:47] In ass class which honestly I always love going back to that one because it's just such a good little one.
[00:10:53] Well it's good.
[00:10:54] Well it's a good show like it ends you know like it's not an ongoing like it's a I think it's a two 24 season show which I feel like sometimes is just what you need.
[00:11:04] So forty two.
[00:11:06] Yeah, it's two seasons but yeah.
[00:11:10] So I've been joining.
[00:11:12] I'm enjoying that one and once some of the because I want to watch the my next on my list is to watch the apothecary diaries once the dub is completely out.
[00:11:23] I think it might be.
[00:11:25] I just got to go watch it and then I was going to see if the second season of Mashlee got a dub because that intro is wonderful.
[00:11:34] Have you have you heard the Mashlee season two intro?
[00:11:38] No.
[00:11:39] You need to listen to it.
[00:11:40] I'm going to send it to you later and you need to listen to it because it's just wonderful.
[00:11:45] It'll get you to watch the show maybe.
[00:11:48] It got me to rewatch season one and actually really appreciate season one.
[00:11:52] It was kind of like spy family where the second time I watched it it was so much better.
[00:11:56] Oh yeah we never said mention that we have tickets to see the spy family movie.
[00:12:00] Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:12:03] I'm excited about that.
[00:12:05] Let's look at the trailers.
[00:12:06] I was getting excited.
[00:12:07] That's not next weekend.
[00:12:09] It's not this weekend but the weekend.
[00:12:11] Yeah, it's the 20th the 20th.
[00:12:14] Okay.
[00:12:15] Yeah, because the 27th you're going to be gone.
[00:12:18] Yes.
[00:12:19] Gone.
[00:12:20] But anyways we are off.
[00:12:22] We were supposed to start actually now we got to push it for another minute so we can get to the 20.
[00:12:27] Let's get to 20.
[00:12:29] Let's get to 20.
[00:12:30] 20 minutes of wasting time.
[00:12:33] Let's do that.
[00:12:35] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:12:36] I'm still blurry.
[00:12:37] Yeah, I know because you you fucked your camera up when you were trying to scream.
[00:12:42] Oh, oh, no, no.
[00:12:49] Okay.
[00:12:50] We hit 20 minutes.
[00:12:51] Let's get this going.
[00:12:52] No, no, no.
[00:12:55] They're still turning.
[00:12:58] Do you remember the first?
[00:13:00] So we're doing a games that shaped us.
[00:13:02] No, no.
[00:13:03] Yeah, we are.
[00:13:05] Nine to ten more seconds.
[00:13:07] Ten, nine, eight, seven, six.
[00:13:11] What the hell?
[00:13:15] We're doing a games that shaped us.
[00:13:17] All right, now you can talk.
[00:13:20] The first one.
[00:13:22] The first one of these we did was only 30 minutes long.
[00:13:25] Okay.
[00:13:26] Let's just.
[00:13:27] I'm filling the air.
[00:13:31] Okay.
[00:13:32] So we're going to be talking about a very specific series.
[00:13:35] We've mentioned it briefly in the past on a few episodes.
[00:13:38] It is.
[00:13:40] Spin off of the Sims series that we've talked about.
[00:13:43] The my Sims series.
[00:13:45] The best way to describe my Sims is essentially imagine the Sims in
[00:13:48] Animal Crossing kind of collided and you got.
[00:13:51] My Sims basically.
[00:13:53] And also the Sims, but make it.
[00:13:55] Chibi style.
[00:13:56] Yeah.
[00:13:57] It's like the Sims.
[00:13:59] If you dumbed it down and made it into more of a.
[00:14:02] Social.
[00:14:03] More of like a.
[00:14:05] Linear social based.
[00:14:07] Thing.
[00:14:10] It's a very weird game to describe.
[00:14:14] So my Sims first released in 2007.
[00:14:17] I remember it because I remember the trailer for it looked
[00:14:20] ridiculous.
[00:14:22] What I found interesting was my Sims,
[00:14:24] the whole series was developed at least the main ones by EA
[00:14:28] Redwood shores.
[00:14:30] A better known as visceral games,
[00:14:32] the same studio that did dead space.
[00:14:35] And then the first one was the first one.
[00:14:37] And then the second one was the first one.
[00:14:39] And then the third one was the first one.
[00:14:41] And then the fourth one.
[00:14:43] And then the fourth one.
[00:14:44] And then the fourth one.
[00:14:45] And so that did dead space.
[00:14:47] Oh.
[00:14:48] Among.
[00:14:49] Among many other.
[00:14:51] Series.
[00:14:53] Redwood shores is like, what?
[00:14:55] Well, I should say was cause they got EA.
[00:14:57] And closed down.
[00:15:05] They were responsible for a lot of games.
[00:15:07] Like they did the Tiger woods PGA tour series for a long
[00:15:10] time.
[00:15:11] And then they were responsible for a lot of games.
[00:15:13] For example, James Bond games.
[00:15:15] They were one of EA's big war course studios.
[00:15:19] But every now and then they'd get like original games.
[00:15:21] And one of their originals was my Sims.
[00:15:24] So my Sims.
[00:15:27] My sims is interesting.
[00:15:28] The game it's kind of like a.
[00:15:38] It's kind of like an animal crossing game where you kind of
[00:15:40] end up in this town.
[00:15:41] And then you have the DS though.
[00:15:43] To be clear.
[00:15:44] Cause that's the one we played.
[00:15:46] We played that.
[00:15:47] I have played the Wii game as well.
[00:15:48] Okay.
[00:15:49] Similar and kind of like an expanded expansion on it.
[00:15:52] Okay.
[00:15:53] And it's kind of like, you go around, you talk to people.
[00:15:56] You buy things for your home.
[00:15:58] You design things and then you.
[00:16:03] Play many games.
[00:16:05] To get money.
[00:16:06] With some of the mini games are also designing things.
[00:16:10] Or skydiving.
[00:16:11] There's skydiving.
[00:16:12] Also a thing.
[00:16:13] I remember this game specifically because like it's one of those
[00:16:17] games that did.
[00:16:18] Did this game use a real time clock?
[00:16:20] I don't think it did.
[00:16:21] No, it didn't.
[00:16:22] So rather than a real time clock, it just had like.
[00:16:25] On the top of your screen.
[00:16:26] So you majority played from the bottom of your screen of your
[00:16:29] DS and then on the top of the screen,
[00:16:31] it actually had like a little sun and a little like wheel.
[00:16:34] And as your day would kind of progress and then you'd be able to
[00:16:37] play the game.
[00:16:38] And then you'd be able to play the game.
[00:16:40] So it didn't use the whole.
[00:16:42] Sorry.
[00:16:43] I thought I heard something.
[00:16:44] It didn't use the whole real time clock,
[00:16:47] but they kind of had its own clock in the game system where.
[00:16:50] There were certain period, like it showed like, okay,
[00:16:52] this is like early morning.
[00:16:54] This is afternoon.
[00:16:55] And then this is the evening.
[00:16:56] They were different colors.
[00:16:57] So.
[00:16:58] Gotcha.
[00:16:59] Right.
[00:17:00] All right.
[00:17:02] That was.
[00:17:03] Yes.
[00:17:04] That's what I'm thinking of.
[00:17:05] Yes.
[00:17:06] Yeah, so the games is very.
[00:17:08] The gameplay loop kind of gets very like standard,
[00:17:11] very fast where like you kind of like you do a day.
[00:17:14] You'll do your tasks.
[00:17:15] You'll get money to buy things and then you go to sleep and
[00:17:18] then you repeat.
[00:17:19] Well, and you talk to people.
[00:17:21] Yes.
[00:17:22] And talking to people.
[00:17:23] So.
[00:17:24] Are you talking to people.
[00:17:25] So.
[00:17:27] Yeah.
[00:17:28] I'm talking to people.
[00:17:29] Yeah.
[00:17:30] Well, and you talk to people.
[00:17:32] Yes.
[00:17:33] And talking to people is.
[00:17:36] Both important, but also kind of.
[00:17:41] Pointless at the same time.
[00:17:43] Yes.
[00:17:44] At least in the DS.
[00:17:46] Yeah.
[00:17:47] Well,
[00:17:48] because sometimes like you spend so long trying to friend
[00:17:50] people and then you just be like, yeah, whatever.
[00:17:52] I can't get this person to like me.
[00:17:54] I mean,
[00:17:55] I remember I got to a point in it where I just kind of got
[00:17:58] stuck.
[00:17:59] And then I just didn't know what to do because there was
[00:18:02] like so little direction.
[00:18:05] That is one of the biggest complaints I will have with
[00:18:08] this game is it gives you nothing to go on.
[00:18:11] Like you're kind of just trying to figure it out and
[00:18:13] it's not very good at giving you clues into how to
[00:18:16] figure it out.
[00:18:17] It doesn't very poorly.
[00:18:18] I feel like.
[00:18:19] Remember that area where it's like.
[00:18:23] Like you could like unlock it and or rebuild something.
[00:18:26] At least that's what I'm thinking it was.
[00:18:29] I just remember I could never figure out how to do it.
[00:18:33] Never knew it.
[00:18:34] See, I always got to like that island and then like
[00:18:37] you just kind of like once you got there,
[00:18:39] you didn't really know what to do.
[00:18:42] The DS game was kind of like the console game,
[00:18:44] but like dumbed down and kind of simplified because in
[00:18:47] the console game you had more direction and actually
[00:18:49] like knew what to do.
[00:18:50] And you actually built a lot of things using the
[00:18:52] Weas pointer controls.
[00:18:53] Yeah, which leads me into the most probably the most
[00:18:59] interesting of the My Sims games,
[00:19:00] which was My Sims Kingdoms,
[00:19:02] which is this game I played a lot.
[00:19:07] Alex went on month long binges.
[00:19:11] It was like a year.
[00:19:12] I would say like it was like a year long binge of
[00:19:15] when I got it.
[00:19:17] Also kind of played it too.
[00:19:19] I wasn't looking at my Sims.
[00:19:21] I was looking at the date this came out and I am not
[00:19:24] comprehending that it came out in 2008.
[00:19:26] It does not feel like that long ago,
[00:19:28] and I'm kind of feeling a bit old.
[00:19:31] Well, to be fair though,
[00:19:33] we owned it for a little while and you didn't play
[00:19:37] it for like the first couple years you owned it.
[00:19:39] I know, but like still like even with that,
[00:19:42] it's 2010, which still it's 2024.
[00:19:45] What the fuck?
[00:19:46] Anyways.
[00:19:48] Yeah.
[00:19:49] Yeah.
[00:19:50] So My Sims Kingdom,
[00:19:51] essentially the way it worked was it was basically the
[00:19:55] same idea only they actually gave you some direction.
[00:19:59] Yes.
[00:20:00] Well, so this one,
[00:20:02] it had a story unlike the other one where well,
[00:20:06] the DS game did not have a story.
[00:20:09] The console game did have a story.
[00:20:10] So and I'm talking strictly for the console because I
[00:20:13] didn't play the DS game and I probably never will,
[00:20:16] but I did play the Wii game.
[00:20:17] In the Wii game, you had a story.
[00:20:20] And honestly,
[00:20:22] I can probably tell the story without really looking at it.
[00:20:25] So you start in the game.
[00:20:27] You're from the main kingdom and there's something going
[00:20:32] wrong with the world,
[00:20:34] with the map in the world and everything's changing.
[00:20:36] So you end up meeting with the king.
[00:20:38] Who is a massive crackhead.
[00:20:41] Yes.
[00:20:42] Like most characters in this game.
[00:20:44] And you need a wand of wonder.
[00:20:47] I think that's what it's called or like something,
[00:20:50] something like that.
[00:20:51] I think it was called the wand of wonder or something.
[00:20:53] And basically it's your magical Sims control.
[00:20:56] So you can just do whatever you fucking want in the
[00:20:59] game.
[00:21:00] So AKA change the colors of everything,
[00:21:03] repaint stuff,
[00:21:05] rebuild stuff randomly.
[00:21:08] It gave you all those abilities.
[00:21:10] So your first thing you have to do is actually go through to
[00:21:13] basically your tutorial where you're competing with like two
[00:21:16] other people who suck, who suck.
[00:21:19] For who gets like a long.
[00:21:21] I think it's a chef and the princess and they're terrible.
[00:21:24] I believe it's the chef and the princess and they are yes,
[00:21:28] indeed both terrible.
[00:21:30] So you end up,
[00:21:31] you know,
[00:21:32] doing it because they just suck and you end up becoming the
[00:21:36] wand of wonder wielder and you have to go around and save
[00:21:39] all the kingdom.
[00:21:41] Also, you can make your,
[00:21:42] you can make your Sim look absolutely terrifying and it's
[00:21:45] hilarious because he stays that way the entire game.
[00:21:47] Well, no, no, no.
[00:21:48] You can change how you look.
[00:21:49] Well, why would you?
[00:21:50] When you made such a masterpiece.
[00:21:52] Well,
[00:21:53] some people like to have fun Bill unlike you.
[00:21:56] What do you mean?
[00:21:58] I'm not having fun.
[00:21:59] All right.
[00:22:00] All right.
[00:22:01] But anyways,
[00:22:02] so you go around and tour your friends just tag along.
[00:22:06] I consider one is kind of helpful and the other one's just
[00:22:09] fricking useless.
[00:22:10] I don't know.
[00:22:11] I found them both useless to be honest.
[00:22:13] One holds a bag.
[00:22:14] That's about it.
[00:22:15] Yeah.
[00:22:16] I mean,
[00:22:17] that's what kind of makes them helpful.
[00:22:18] But yeah,
[00:22:19] they're basically both useless and they're just kind of
[00:22:21] there to bother you.
[00:22:22] And one of them also just causes problems too.
[00:22:25] The little blonde guy,
[00:22:26] he's just annoying.
[00:22:27] But anyways,
[00:22:28] you go around and you go to islands and the main gameplay
[00:22:33] consists of,
[00:22:34] Hey,
[00:22:35] my house kind of sucks.
[00:22:37] Can you make me a new one?
[00:22:40] Or I don't have this.
[00:22:42] Can you make me one and, oh,
[00:22:44] but you need the all these different objects to do that.
[00:22:47] So go find them.
[00:22:49] Yes.
[00:22:50] And most of them are in trees.
[00:22:52] So you can shake trees.
[00:22:53] And I,
[00:22:54] I really love how they just said bucket.
[00:22:56] And at first they were trying to make them all fruit,
[00:22:59] but then as the game went on,
[00:23:00] you just noticed that you should start putting musical notes in
[00:23:03] trees.
[00:23:04] Just random shit.
[00:23:05] And my favorite thing is to the building mechanics,
[00:23:09] they give you so many options and you can make these really
[00:23:12] elaborate structures or you can make the most basic one block
[00:23:16] roof door window.
[00:23:17] It's good.
[00:23:18] Yes.
[00:23:19] And truly.
[00:23:20] So the game will give you some requirements of stuff that you
[00:23:23] have to have,
[00:23:24] but for the most part kind of lets you do whatever you
[00:23:27] want.
[00:23:28] So,
[00:23:30] and a lot of the times if you want to,
[00:23:32] like if you don't like necessarily what they want you to make
[00:23:35] and you want to go back and remake it at one point,
[00:23:37] you can do that.
[00:23:38] It kind of lets you do that. At some point.
[00:23:40] Make your true masterpieces.
[00:23:43] Yes.
[00:23:44] Or hot garbage is bill.
[00:23:45] Like, like everything I made.
[00:23:47] I made,
[00:23:48] my goal was to make everything as fucked up as possible.
[00:23:51] Yes.
[00:23:52] But there's another also key gameplay element to this game,
[00:23:56] which is the chase game.
[00:23:58] And if you stuck at those chasey games where you have to like
[00:24:02] herd stuff or chase hard things into places,
[00:24:05] you're going to struggle with this game.
[00:24:07] Like I did.
[00:24:08] And that is why I had to make bill do it most of the time
[00:24:12] when I was younger.
[00:24:13] I'm sure if I did it now,
[00:24:14] I can do it myself.
[00:24:15] But almost how we were younger,
[00:24:17] I was like,
[00:24:18] Bill,
[00:24:19] can you hurt all these sheep for me, please?
[00:24:22] I believe that actually happens.
[00:24:24] But,
[00:24:25] but I remember hurting robot legs.
[00:24:28] Yes, that was one.
[00:24:29] So I go from the,
[00:24:31] the test pilot who went on strike because the rocket scientist was a
[00:24:35] fucking psycho.
[00:24:36] Yeah.
[00:24:37] So as you go around,
[00:24:39] so your first Island you're on,
[00:24:41] which is kind of your home Island is,
[00:24:43] is like the kingdom where the King lives was the castle where the
[00:24:48] King lives.
[00:24:49] But then as you go around,
[00:24:50] you discover all these different other islands.
[00:24:52] So I think there's like a little country Island where everyone's like,
[00:24:57] yee-haw,
[00:24:58] like, you know,
[00:24:59] and then there's like a zoo Island.
[00:25:01] What?
[00:25:02] What?
[00:25:03] What?
[00:25:04] There's the robot.
[00:25:06] A country Island.
[00:25:08] Yeehaw.
[00:25:09] Yeehaw.
[00:25:15] Anyways,
[00:25:16] don't fucking judge me.
[00:25:19] Don't fucking judge me.
[00:25:20] There's like,
[00:25:21] let me think I'm trying to think of the space Island where there's the guy
[00:25:26] who's trying to go to space.
[00:25:27] There's like a spooky haunted Island,
[00:25:29] which I always liked the spooky haunted Island.
[00:25:31] That one was always fun.
[00:25:33] There's one where,
[00:25:35] it's like a school and there's like school drama.
[00:25:39] Yeah.
[00:25:40] And you like join in on the school drama.
[00:25:42] And then there's another one where it's like this pink kingdom where
[00:25:46] it's all pink and cuddly.
[00:25:48] And then there's the daughter who's like a goth and she's like,
[00:25:51] I fucking hate this.
[00:25:53] And then let's see,
[00:25:55] there's like,
[00:25:56] there's a whole lot.
[00:25:57] There's the,
[00:25:58] the Island that has the other robot who's like abandoned and they,
[00:26:01] you find it.
[00:26:02] Yes.
[00:26:03] Oh yeah.
[00:26:04] That's like the weird,
[00:26:05] the like the what's it called?
[00:26:08] The foresty Island.
[00:26:11] Oh,
[00:26:12] and the best part about the cowboy Island too is there's a pizza chef
[00:26:15] there.
[00:26:16] And he, and you can help him make a pizza farm by growing his tomatoes,
[00:26:20] which is fun.
[00:26:21] Let me see.
[00:26:23] There's also the weird wizard.
[00:26:25] Oh, nevermind.
[00:26:26] It wasn't the chef bill.
[00:26:27] It was the sailor man who.
[00:26:29] Oh, right.
[00:26:30] He didn't for the wand of wonder.
[00:26:32] Chef sailor.
[00:26:33] Same thing.
[00:26:34] Am I right?
[00:26:35] No,
[00:26:36] you're completely wrong.
[00:26:38] I'm trying to find some of them more Jesus.
[00:26:40] Why is there always fan art?
[00:26:42] Why is there always fan art?
[00:26:44] My favorite is the,
[00:26:45] the space Island where like the,
[00:26:47] the rocket scientist is just like a bucking,
[00:26:50] like deranged like psychopath.
[00:26:52] You should literally try and kill his test pilots.
[00:26:54] Yeah.
[00:26:55] I mean, understandable.
[00:26:56] And the only reason that the only reason he doesn't,
[00:26:59] but the,
[00:27:00] so the janitor wants to go to space and the,
[00:27:02] the,
[00:27:03] the test robot is on strike and doesn't want it.
[00:27:05] He wants to run us a restaurant.
[00:27:07] Yes.
[00:27:08] Makes sense.
[00:27:09] And.
[00:27:10] Don't question it.
[00:27:11] Basically right,
[00:27:12] right before the janitor is about to go to space in the rocket that
[00:27:15] you built by the way.
[00:27:16] So you could make,
[00:27:17] you could make this thing look wonderful.
[00:27:19] Oh yeah.
[00:27:20] Basically the,
[00:27:21] the professor talks about how everyone always dies in his
[00:27:25] rockets.
[00:27:26] And then you have to go find the test pilot because he's
[00:27:28] hiding now.
[00:27:29] Cause he's like,
[00:27:30] I'm scared.
[00:27:31] I don't want to die.
[00:27:32] And then right as the launch,
[00:27:34] the rocket scientist is like,
[00:27:36] Oh,
[00:27:37] I don't want to die.
[00:27:38] And then right as the launch happens, like the professor's like, wait,
[00:27:41] I forgot to put all this fucked up shit in there.
[00:27:43] And his assistant is like, no, no, no, it's fine.
[00:27:45] And then he almost gets attacked by aliens.
[00:27:47] Yeah.
[00:27:48] It's like.
[00:27:49] There's also.
[00:27:50] There's also the music Island.
[00:27:52] I forgot about that one too.
[00:27:54] You know what I'm talking about with the DJ lady.
[00:27:56] Yeah.
[00:27:58] And isn't there like locals on the island?
[00:28:00] Like, isn't it like the whole drama with that one was like,
[00:28:03] It's the DJ Island.
[00:28:05] But then like,
[00:28:06] There was some weird thing about it.
[00:28:08] I don't know.
[00:28:09] Some of the islands,
[00:28:10] like two of the locals didn't really like you at first and you
[00:28:12] had to like win them over.
[00:28:13] Yes.
[00:28:14] Well,
[00:28:15] and that's what you would do by building things and making them
[00:28:18] things.
[00:28:19] Making everything worse.
[00:28:20] Yeah.
[00:28:21] And then you have to go back to the other side of the island.
[00:28:23] And then I make it.
[00:28:24] And then I proceed to just add everything else to it because I
[00:28:27] can.
[00:28:28] Oh.
[00:28:29] And one thing we didn't talk about too was the simlish,
[00:28:31] which is very much prior.
[00:28:32] I'm not blurry anymore.
[00:28:34] Um.
[00:28:35] The Simlish, which is very much.
[00:28:37] Oh,
[00:28:38] I'm sorry that I made a mistake.
[00:28:40] That's okay.
[00:28:41] I didn't make a mistake.
[00:28:42] I didn't make a mistake.
[00:28:43] It's okay.
[00:28:44] Yeah.
[00:28:45] It's okay.
[00:28:46] Yeah.
[00:28:47] It's okay.
[00:28:48] I didn't make a mistake.
[00:28:49] I didn't make a mistake.
[00:28:50] I didn't make a mistake.
[00:28:51] But.
[00:28:52] much. Oh, that's funny. Sorry. I was just scrolling through
[00:28:56] looking at my Sims Kingdom photos and then a picture from
[00:28:59] state lines website came up. That's funny with the state
[00:29:03] line sticker. Sorry, maybe left. But the Simlish is very
[00:29:07] silly. Especially like the two goofballs that travel around
[00:29:11] with you. There's a very funny to listen to.
[00:29:17] Um,
[00:29:19] one thing I will say about this game is it's controlled with the
[00:29:22] Wii, the Wii mode and the Wii chuck chuck the Wii chuck. As
[00:29:28] our friend Rick dubbed it a while back and I just can't I can't
[00:29:31] use any other name now for it.
[00:29:35] But yeah, the you control it with the the Wii mode and the
[00:29:39] Wii chuck and it controls fine. It's a lot of pointer
[00:29:42] controls and you don't really have to use a camera. So none
[00:29:45] of that really comes up. My biggest complaint with these
[00:29:49] games, they're extremely repetitive.
[00:29:53] Oh yeah, that is the big thing I will completely agree. Very
[00:29:58] repetitive. Um, but the thing is if you like games where
[00:30:05] you're decorating stuff, uh, like I do, you have a great
[00:30:09] time, which is exactly what I did.
[00:30:13] Yeah. And if you just want to get through the game, this game
[00:30:15] is going to be interesting because yeah, you're gonna just
[00:30:19] just make speed running this game is interesting because
[00:30:22] you just basically make the most basic shit and just fly
[00:30:24] through it.
[00:30:25] Yeah. No, I mean, you technically can't get through
[00:30:28] this game really fast. But if you enjoy the whole
[00:30:32] decorating aspect of it, then you'll have a lot of
[00:30:35] time. And you can do multiple playthroughs. You can just go
[00:30:39] through and do different route like, you know, make
[00:30:42] Oh, changes and stuff. And most importantly, once you beat the
[00:30:45] game, you unlock a special island all to your island.
[00:30:49] Yes. Where you can be like, finally, I'm alone privacy.
[00:30:53] And you get unlimited of everything so you can legit
[00:30:56] make whatever you will.
[00:30:58] Yeah, I always make a fun castle. Fun stuff. Um, fun.
[00:31:07] Oh, it's a lady robot. The one we have. Yeah, the one
[00:31:11] we are so off topic. Anyways, she's a lady robot.
[00:31:17] Um, yeah, I did enjoy my playthrough, even though this
[00:31:20] is very much a one and done kind of game for me.
[00:31:23] And for me, it's a very much play it through.
[00:31:27] Alex is gonna go on a binge now and play this guy might
[00:31:31] I gotta find see if there's where can I play my Sims
[00:31:38] kingdom. I'm looking it up now.
[00:31:40] Alex, you have a Wii. It's right behind you.
[00:31:43] Yeah, but maybe I don't want to play it on the Wii.
[00:31:47] It's only on the Wii.
[00:31:50] All right, I guess I'll be pairing up my Wii.
[00:31:54] I was like, it's only on the Wii.
[00:32:02] Don't correct me. I know what I'm talking about. Bill.
[00:32:11] Yeah.
[00:32:14] Um, no, this is my posting now.
[00:32:19] Anyways, please tell me the second letter of the alphabet.
[00:32:25] No, anyways, moving on.
[00:32:28] That's to be giving everything.
[00:32:34] You regret everything, don't you?
[00:32:37] This podcast, you know, you take that off the screen
[00:32:41] right now.
[00:32:42] Don't you dare put it back up ever again.
[00:32:46] So the next game in the series was my Sims agents.
[00:32:50] And I didn't fucking play that.
[00:32:53] I only barely played it because I got it for like a dollar.
[00:32:56] It's the same shit.
[00:32:57] Only now your spies.
[00:32:59] Oh, is it the same?
[00:33:00] Like even going around and like decorating and stuff?
[00:33:03] Yeah, but now you're now your spies and you can break.
[00:33:06] I would fuck with this game is what you say.
[00:33:08] Like I would like this game is what you're saying.
[00:33:11] Yeah, most likely.
[00:33:12] And it looks like the graphics are slightly better, too.
[00:33:17] Yeah.
[00:33:18] For for we a year later.
[00:33:21] Yes.
[00:33:23] Yeah, same shit, though.
[00:33:24] 2009 your spies.
[00:33:28] You kind of do.
[00:33:29] Why do they call them the wand of wonder?
[00:33:31] What's the wand of wonder in this game?
[00:33:34] You just get like a spy glass.
[00:33:36] And you don't make stuff the same way.
[00:33:38] It's not as magical.
[00:33:40] Well, I don't want to play it then.
[00:33:43] Oh, you'd still like it probably.
[00:33:49] Yeah.
[00:33:50] The thing about these games are they're all basically the same.
[00:33:53] There was there were.
[00:33:56] They were also spin offs.
[00:33:58] There was my Sims party, which was a party,
[00:34:05] which was a party game.
[00:34:07] That's something.
[00:34:10] Did you know it?
[00:34:11] No, I don't know that one.
[00:34:13] There were also my Sims racing.
[00:34:16] Oh, yeah, I saw something for that.
[00:34:18] I also surprisingly I haven't played this one.
[00:34:20] It's basically Mario Kart, but with my Sims.
[00:34:23] Ah, it looks like it has some.
[00:34:26] Met Scors.
[00:34:28] Yeah, it's very average, apparently.
[00:34:30] And then there's also my Sims Sky Heroes.
[00:34:35] Yeah, I saw that.
[00:34:36] I was like, what should I combat flight simulator racing?
[00:34:40] Why?
[00:34:42] Why not?
[00:34:44] Money.
[00:34:45] And apparently that is the.
[00:34:47] That's what killed the my Sims series.
[00:34:51] I guess, yeah, it's the sixth and final game in the my Sims series.
[00:34:55] What a whimper to go out on with this fucking absurd
[00:34:59] game they got terrible review.
[00:35:00] It was on PS3 and 360, though, so there's something.
[00:35:07] So the series was.
[00:35:10] One of the main spin offs of the Sims.
[00:35:12] What other spin offs were there?
[00:35:15] I mean, there was the herbs.
[00:35:17] Well, the herbs, yeah.
[00:35:19] But sometimes I almost consider that like.
[00:35:23] A different there was it's a spin off.
[00:35:25] You're right. You're right.
[00:35:27] There was the Sims cast away.
[00:35:30] Sims busting out.
[00:35:31] That's that.
[00:35:33] That was more of a console.
[00:35:34] That was. Yeah, because that one was different.
[00:35:38] Yeah, there was the there was the Sims cast away.
[00:35:41] There was the DS game for that.
[00:35:43] I I had the DS game for the Sims cast away, which was like,
[00:35:47] oh, it wasn't like I mean, it was life simulation,
[00:35:50] but you were actually like you were legitimately a cast away trying to just live.
[00:35:55] Yeah, the the console game was a survival game, which was weird.
[00:36:02] Sims medieval.
[00:36:03] Yeah, medieval is still the weirdest fucking Sims spin off.
[00:36:07] I think we have it like it's an action adventure social game.
[00:36:11] Um, it exists.
[00:36:13] I've never played it because it only came out on PC as far as I know.
[00:36:18] Um, yeah, that was a thing.
[00:36:20] There was also.
[00:36:23] There was the Sims two pets for DS where you played as a veterinarian
[00:36:27] and it was boring as fuck.
[00:36:29] Yeah, I was also like really difficult to do to like
[00:36:34] it was not an easy game, like it was really hard game.
[00:36:37] Like it was hard to figure out.
[00:36:40] Yeah, the Sims has had a rough go at it over the years with the spin offs.
[00:36:45] The best spin offs are still the handheld games that are RPGs for no reason.
[00:36:51] Yeah. Yeah.
[00:36:55] Oh, yeah. Yeah.
[00:36:55] I'm like, I think really, I think they I think was that
[00:37:00] the last one that they did my Sims?
[00:37:02] Did they give up after that?
[00:37:04] Well, I think medieval was after my Sims.
[00:37:06] Oh, OK. So they just went away from the.
[00:37:09] My.
[00:37:12] Sorry. Well, now Sims four
[00:37:14] case of the yawns, they just keep that's just every podcast.
[00:37:18] Hey, I'm tired.
[00:37:20] My bedtime is at nine o'clock.
[00:37:22] OK, don't fucking judge me.
[00:37:26] Anyways, yeah.
[00:37:28] Other than that, the my Sims was kind of like an interesting experiment.
[00:37:32] They were really trying to capitalize off of the.
[00:37:36] Off of the the animal crossing.
[00:37:39] Boom. Yeah.
[00:37:40] You know what really killed the my Sims series?
[00:37:44] What the death of the week?
[00:37:47] Yeah, yeah.
[00:37:49] That is honestly without the once the we was moved on,
[00:37:53] they weren't going to move these over to Wii U.
[00:37:55] The one game they released on PS3 and 360 sucked.
[00:37:59] Yeah. And they were just like, you know what?
[00:38:01] Maybe it's time to turn in town. We should stick to what we know.
[00:38:05] They also kind of killed off the series,
[00:38:07] the studio that made them.
[00:38:09] Yeah, that doesn't help either.
[00:38:11] They were also making much better games by that point, like with Dead Space.
[00:38:16] You know. True.
[00:38:19] But yeah, so not much more to say about my Sims.
[00:38:23] It was a weird game series that kind of existed for a while.
[00:38:30] Most people kind of forgot about it, and the people that did play it
[00:38:33] either really liked it like Alex or.
[00:38:36] Well, at least my Sims Kingdom.
[00:38:38] I am not vouching for the DS because that game sucked.
[00:38:41] It wasn't very fun.
[00:38:42] You probably should play the original on Wii at some point.
[00:38:46] I will at some point.
[00:38:47] But if I'm going to go back and play my Sims game, it's going to be kingdom.
[00:38:52] I'm not going back to play the original.
[00:38:54] You should boot up your car.
[00:38:56] Actually, I don't even know.
[00:38:56] I think you have the same file anymore.
[00:38:59] Probably not.
[00:39:00] That's probably I don't probably need one, because I could go and do it.
[00:39:04] And I just gave him like a day now or less in a couple.
[00:39:08] Now it's it's a pretty long game just because it it takes a while.
[00:39:14] Yeah, but I'm also I know what I'm doing.
[00:39:24] Sure.
[00:39:24] But yeah, so this is definitely an Alex kind of game.
[00:39:34] Not really a me game.
[00:39:36] I've kind of got my fill out of them and put them.
[00:39:41] What do you do?
[00:39:41] I got a Discord message.
[00:39:44] Oh, it frightens me.
[00:39:46] Hi, Liv.
[00:39:48] It was from the server.
[00:39:51] It was from Liv.
[00:39:52] Hi.
[00:39:58] I'm so annoying, aren't I?
[00:40:00] No. All right.
[00:40:01] Be honest.
[00:40:02] Do you regret starting a podcast with me?
[00:40:04] You could be answering these questions.
[00:40:07] Yeah, that you know what that means.
[00:40:09] It means, yes, I do regret it.
[00:40:11] It's the worst decision I've ever made.
[00:40:13] It means I don't like obvious bait questions, so I don't answer them.
[00:40:18] Just answer the question.
[00:40:20] This is a bait question.
[00:40:22] What podcast do you prefer?
[00:40:25] What's your favorite one to record out of the three that you do?
[00:40:28] I'm not answering your bait questions.
[00:40:31] If you don't say it's this one, I will quit.
[00:40:34] I'm not answering your obvious bait.
[00:40:38] You know what all I hear is that this and that.
[00:40:44] I need to quit.
[00:40:45] I'm going to fucking dare you.
[00:40:52] I'll fucking dare you.
[00:40:54] I'll take you.
[00:40:55] You were being obnoxious, so I gave you.
[00:40:58] I'm going to stick my resignation letter to your car.
[00:41:02] When I write it in Sharpie on your car.
[00:41:06] And then I'm going to key, no, you're not into the side of yours.
[00:41:11] And I've paid for mine, so no.
[00:41:18] But anyways, so yeah, that was my last episode.
[00:41:26] No, it won't.
[00:41:28] Yeah, it will.
[00:41:30] Unless build answers what I want to hear is that this is your favorite.
[00:41:36] But anyways, guys, once again, it's the only way I'll be able to get through it.
[00:41:46] Oh, I was flailing my arms in protest of Bill muting me.
[00:41:59] And then I barked my hair, which is no fun, but I yanked it and it hurt.
[00:42:06] Serves you right.
[00:42:08] No.
[00:42:11] Let me let me let me finish this.
[00:42:17] I will mute you again.
[00:42:20] It's not fair.
[00:42:21] Can I mute you?
