[00:00:00] Hey everybody, on this episode of Gaming And Collecting, me and Alex are going to be revisiting

[00:00:04] one of our earliest topics this time to once again talk about all of our favorite convention

[00:00:09] stories from over the years we've been attending conventions.

[00:00:14] Going over mostly different cosplay stories, different purchases, and just some of the

[00:00:17] crazy things we've seen at conventions over the years, it's gonna be a good time.

[00:00:22] Thanks for joining us.

[00:00:30] I'm sorry, I'm sorry.

[00:00:37] I was really sorry for calling you.

[00:00:45] Sorry, I didn't think you were actually sorry.

[00:00:49] Sorry about that.

[00:00:51] Well, I'm recovering from a cold.

[00:00:54] There's been like this huge bug that's been going around my work and I finally got it,

[00:00:59] but thankfully, just to get sick.

[00:01:03] Well, thankfully I didn't get it as bad as everyone else said because I was like, as soon

[00:01:08] as I started feeling symptomatic, I started taking cold medicine and I swear it helped

[00:01:11] me so much.

[00:01:12] I only really, I didn't take any time off of work this week just because I wasn't feeling

[00:01:16] like, it's mostly just a coffin congestion.

[00:01:20] It wasn't really anything too crazy, like it didn't have fever or anything.

[00:01:25] But yeah, today it's just like, it's honestly just like I'm congested at this point.

[00:01:30] So if I sound a little gravely or if I'm coughing, that's why.

[00:01:35] It's just the congestion needs to leave.

[00:01:38] I'm like waiting for her to appear from somewhere.

[00:01:43] Oh, I did my taxes today.

[00:01:46] Yeah, I did that.

[00:01:48] Finally, just made an appointment at like an H and R block because I attempted to do

[00:01:54] them through TurboTax and it said that I owed the Connecticut government $3,000 so

[00:01:59] I was like, I don't think that's right.

[00:02:01] And then I wanted to turn to H and R block in the ladies like no, you only owe like $100

[00:02:07] so I was like, okay, that's much better.

[00:02:09] So yeah, if you're ever doing taxes and the number seems observed, don't use TurboTax,

[00:02:16] just go have someone do it for you.

[00:02:18] It's so much easier.

[00:02:20] Yeah.

[00:02:21] Yeah, I gotta do that soon.

[00:02:24] Yeah, I'd recommend that H and R block an N field wonderful.

[00:02:28] They're nice.

[00:02:29] They did it for me.

[00:02:31] Now I don't feel stressed about all the government $3,000.

[00:02:35] Yeah, yeah, this week, honestly.

[00:02:41] Sorry.

[00:02:43] Was extremely all over the place.

[00:02:45] Yeah, no.

[00:02:46] I mean yesterday was a pretty sad day.

[00:02:47] Oh, yesterday was really.

[00:02:48] I know you already probably talked about it on geek addicts but.

[00:02:52] Yeah, at the time of this recording like this is going to be like two weeks out past it.

[00:02:57] But yesterday we got the tragic news that a curatorial dad.

[00:03:02] Yeah.

[00:03:03] At 68 years old, that is way too young.

[00:03:07] Yeah, it just sucks.

[00:03:10] And I guess it was like, I was reading something about like get it actually happened

[00:03:13] like earlier on Mars.

[00:03:14] Yeah, he died on the first apparently but they kept it a secret.

[00:03:19] Yeah, I mean, I honestly understand it.

[00:03:21] Like the family letting the family process it.

[00:03:25] Like I know the family too, right?

[00:03:28] Yeah, he believed he left everything to that was telling me last night.

[00:03:32] I believe he left everything to his son.

[00:03:34] Yeah, like it's just, you know, yeah, let them grieve and you know, it's been really

[00:03:39] pissing me off though all the people like posting like these like things like calling

[00:03:43] him like a racist.

[00:03:44] I'm like because of like Mr. Popo.

[00:03:47] Yeah, I saw that.

[00:03:49] And like most of them.

[00:03:51] Well, most it was actually I know like on Twitter, like you know how it like posts like

[00:03:55] the like when something's like a post and then like it's clearly someone's making it

[00:04:01] up.

[00:04:02] It'll put the like caption of like why this is not false like the Twitter notes.

[00:04:06] And I didn't see that for a lot of those posts that was coming up as like no like Mr.

[00:04:11] Popo was based off a like a Hindu god.

[00:04:14] Yeah.

[00:04:15] Yeah.

[00:04:16] And it wasn't meant to be that way.

[00:04:18] And like when you look at the photos of the hit makes sense.

[00:04:21] So be especially because like if you look at a lot of his character designs like of,

[00:04:25] you know, like African American people, like they are like a lot nicer than some of the

[00:04:31] other like I mean even then like even then to you know taking the context that was the

[00:04:37] 80s and it was a bit.

[00:04:38] No, yeah, that too.

[00:04:41] And like clearly he's like grown and stuff, you know from that.

[00:04:46] But it's also just like why do we have to just like because people are just miserable

[00:04:51] online and they have to be you know, like especially like where Akira like Toriyama has

[00:04:58] like influenced so much media and just creations over time.

[00:05:03] I mean like I saw one post that was like relating like how Sonic was really inspired by a lot

[00:05:08] of things like Dragon Ball.

[00:05:09] I mean the KS Emerald, the 7K S Emeralds, the 7 Dragon Ball, Super Sonic.

[00:05:15] The like even tails flying with his tail like Goku was doing that at some point like it's

[00:05:20] just there's so many influences and that was one of the things that like you know you

[00:05:25] don't really think about but when you saw like all of like Cartoon Network was posting like

[00:05:30] you know all the cartoons.

[00:05:31] Yeah, like everyone's like all the references like all the love like like it's like.

[00:05:38] Voice actors were all coming being Kishimoto and Oda both posted.

[00:05:42] Yeah, it's like truly the series like he I mean he himself was just such an iconic person

[00:05:52] influence on media and honestly anime today like we would definitely not have all the

[00:05:57] shows that we have now without Dragon Ball.

[00:06:02] I was just like I couldn't even go on the internet yesterday because like it just made

[00:06:05] me sad.

[00:06:06] I know it was really sad going through.

[00:06:09] I saw a post too that kind of made me even more sad it was like showing like 20 I think

[00:06:14] it what yours is like 2020 the author Berserk died and then the next year another famous

[00:06:20] Monica died and then the next year another one and then it was like 24 with a Karen and

[00:06:25] it's just like it was like can we not make like no like it's really sad like it just

[00:06:30] made you really sad when you saw oh it was like 2021 was the I believe the creator of

[00:06:35] like you go passed away yeah because he was his death was bizarre yeah cuz he like was

[00:06:43] trying to save someone from a flood or something like that yeah it is just like it was like

[00:06:49] it's just really sad you know I really sad couple of years but that one was definitely

[00:06:56] hard and I thought too I'm like what about Dragon Ball Diamond especially because he was

[00:07:03] or into it yeah like I thought he was heavily involved in it so I don't know he was Matt

[00:07:09] was we were talking about this last night Matt was saying like he doesn't know cuz Toriama

[00:07:14] famously was not someone who planned very far ahead he did everything basically off the cuff

[00:07:20] which is explains kind of his tendency to forget things but yeah my favorite was like

[00:07:27] my favorite was like looking back at like he was a very self deprecating man like he he would

[00:07:32] make fun of himself a lot in good and hard in nature like one of my favorites was like his comment

[00:07:38] about how he knew very well that he only made like four faces you can only draw four faces but

[00:07:46] oh we all were like yeah we like it that way yeah I mean like his and that's one thing like his

[00:07:51] art style was very much his style like I don't think anyone could like anyone really could replicate

[00:07:58] that because like he is 100% responsible for why toy animation is the way they are yeah

[00:08:05] that's why Kishimoto made his big Kishimoto drew that really nice like

[00:08:10] tribute most picture uh Oda with that really unsettling photo of Goku with loopy's face

[00:08:16] yeah well and you know and they've like worked together a lot because there's been like those Dragon Ball

[00:08:24] in one piece crossover episodes like so I'm sure it I'm sure it was really hard on Oda as well

[00:08:32] I'm sure they're friends you know that also know the the bigger as big as Dragon Ball is there's

[00:08:38] a bigger loss that a lot of people are some people are really aware of but a lot of people haven't

[00:08:43] really noticed yet and Dragon Quest no I was actually gonna bring that up um I was literally like

[00:08:49] one of the biggest franchises in Japan almost in the world yeah like that was one of my favorite

[00:08:57] pictures I saw was uh because ironically Toriyama was a very private man like we really didn't

[00:09:03] know a lot about him but he's also one of the rare mangicas where there's a lot of photos of him

[00:09:09] yeah it was definitely sad seeing like all the photos too because I know there was one where it

[00:09:15] was like him with his son and they were watching playing Dragon Quest and I was just like

[00:09:23] like the one of him and his son playing Dragon Quest one is that was like that was the one that broke

[00:09:27] me I was like okay I have to get off the internet this is too much right now it was definitely

[00:09:32] it was a sad day but you know we just gotta have his family in mind and just you know

[00:09:39] I'm kind of glad that they delayed it just for their own like you know I am too because the

[00:09:44] amount of like sadness from the fans yeah alone would have just brought them down even more because

[00:09:50] oh my god I did not realize until you have to just how much this man meant to everybody yeah no it was

[00:09:58] really really sad but I mean all we can hope for the future is that like his legacy lives on I mean

[00:10:06] Dragon Ball Super will keep going because I know he wasn't really writing for that you know he

[00:10:11] was making the outlines I know Tugataro was drawing it and he was basically putting the stories

[00:10:19] together based on Toriavas notes yeah so I'm sure that they'll keep it going you know I'm sure

[00:10:27] I mean after we record this I'm probably going to I have my 3DS all booted up I'm gonna be playing

[00:10:34] Dragon Quest 4 again because I really want to now I don't want to watch Dragon Ball again now too

[00:10:41] no I'm gonna start watching that soon then we can definitely talk about it but yeah oh I just saw

[00:10:49] you drink a liquid death guess what I bought this week what did you buy the box some for myself

[00:10:58] I really like the mango ones good for you I did I bought them but I'm just drinking I'm sorry

[00:11:06] Karki I'm cheating on you again with bowl and basket a shop right brand because shop

[00:11:13] right is cheap and quick and can you do that yes is it pleasant the video viewers can see this and

[00:11:24] it's very interesting it's just me shaking the water button you just stole my seat she just stole

[00:11:32] my seat on the couch hold on everyone till you KM if you're watching that's my singing she's

[00:11:40] it's her seat now she kind of matches it right now she has a little purple bunny bow that's

[00:11:45] what's singing hello jerk I'm taking that back after we podcast

[00:11:54] well I guess we're not gonna have any tilly interruptions

[00:11:58] because she stole my seat yeah but um you know it's really sad too I actually went on a the day

[00:12:07] before we found out oh yeah I saw your post all the I went on a a trip up to the newbery comics

[00:12:15] near us like the 30 I took a 30 minute drive because I was trying to buy it on a Amazon and I guess

[00:12:20] volume six is out of print at the moment hmm it's the only one I could get was like $50 I was like

[00:12:25] fuck that and I knew they had one there so I figured fuck it I'll just go and while I was there I ended

[00:12:30] up grabbing the rest of it plus my family volume 11 which isn't supposed to be out for two weeks so uh

[00:12:37] you got it now um what I finished my Dragon Ball collection I was like gonna be like I was planning

[00:12:43] on being like super psyched about it and a chat with Mad about and then we got that announcement

[00:12:48] I was like well this just put a damper on everything I mean but honestly I mean I don't want to say like

[00:12:54] like it's kind of good you got it before because like I'm sure that they would have been gone oh yeah

[00:13:00] no there was um there was a Dragon Ball art book that I wanted to pick up at uh

[00:13:04] far as a noble and I went to go see if I could find it yesterday and it's gone yeah no um I went on

[00:13:11] Amazon the closest one I could find was $50 and it wouldn't arrive until like the end of like the

[00:13:16] months I said fuck it yeah not worth it right now but any other things you want

[00:13:29] sorry I'm dying uh any other things you want to chat any other oh this month's gonna be

[00:13:35] chaos for me because guess what month it is it's March and guess what March means St Patrick's Day

[00:13:45] I have to say Patrick's Day means crazy drunk Irish Step dancers yes yeah

[00:13:50] the dancers are not drunk most of the time they're changing what the fuck

[00:13:58] uh apparently they do it a lot older than I've thought so you never know

[00:14:02] yeah but we keep it respectable yeah but uh everyone else it's drunk around you

[00:14:08] well yeah that's kind of part of it but uh uh yeah I'm doing a couple shows tomorrow to help out

[00:14:15] the school one of them is literally down the street from us at a um assistant living area which

[00:14:21] which is nice that's one of the things that I tried to sign up for mostly those um because like

[00:14:27] it's nice to go make people smile you know especially like you know when you're living in those areas

[00:14:33] a little lonely and stuff I couldn't get over what mom referred to it's referred to it as something

[00:14:38] the car what was she calling she said Alex was doing her St Patrick's Day crap

[00:14:53] yeah I'm texting her right now I need information oh my god

[00:15:03] my St Patrick's Day crap

[00:15:11] is funny it turned you into the Joker for a minute there

[00:15:19] what fuck is that it's nice it's nice to go and make people smile like it is

[00:15:27] you're dingus you're what get out well anyways no I'm not over this it's not

[00:15:44] crap it's it's it's okay Alex you can admit it's a cult and you guys do cult like things

[00:15:58] the little cat paw tongs are gonna get you they're gonna get you oh wait

[00:16:05] oh no I'm struggling

[00:16:14] what did you do it's a little nitmoble so my color for me before

[00:16:24] going on also he's double dinged up

[00:16:30] lovely this week for being so sentimental to like about garbage of me yeah this was really sad

[00:16:37] and then Alex turned into the Joker for a minute and then I was mom responded with a question mark

[00:16:47] what you called my dancing tomorrow

[00:16:55] oh

[00:17:05] safe Patrick's Day crap

[00:17:11] I'm dying oh my god the podcast is gonna be like you gross but uh yes she read it she read it

[00:17:18] oh lord let's see her response oh who it's like I'm telling you I did not

[00:17:31] so Bill's line

[00:17:33] okay she said crazy wait

[00:17:40] she said crap

[00:17:44] I remember because I had to pause and go back it feels like because I thought it was hilarious

[00:17:51] I'm just gonna text you this is in the pocket

[00:17:54] this is gonna be a wild episode because this went from being really sad to like

[00:18:06] nonsense to see Patrick's Day crap

[00:18:10] okay

[00:18:14] it's a little laugh but she's like well anyways let's move on from that now I assume

[00:18:25] she's typing still I need a sip of water I'm gonna die

[00:18:32] it's not curky so it's not the same

[00:18:34] it's not the good old curky

[00:18:40] curky word five five dollars five hour energy

[00:18:49] okay um yeah but uh for this episode no no we're not doing enough so that's it guys thank you

[00:18:58] so much for watching this was the gaming and collecting podcast you can follow us on all your

[00:19:04] favorite podcasting networks such as Spotify and you bear for good not

[00:19:15] oh she didn't respond I think she's mad she's mad at you

[00:19:21] oh call me um

[00:19:25] you both call me at the end of the day when I was still working sometimes I'm not sure what we are

[00:19:34] on your first day discussing your dancing is never

[00:19:43] she got really upset about that she's really upset

[00:19:46] oh my god it's not it was funny

[00:19:52] oh no man we felt it was funny

[00:19:58] you know the best part is he's gonna forget about this and then show here the podcast

[00:20:04] and be reminded about it

[00:20:14] I'm dying

[00:20:16] wouldn't now i feel bad no feeling she thinks we're mad i'm mad and i'm not mad i don't know

[00:20:24] you turned into the joke girl you laughed so hard about it

[00:20:27] cuz i could just totally picture good art as they imagine it crap

[00:20:31] like you just picture it saying it not like not a mean way just like no it wasn't in it all

[00:20:38] it was funny

[00:20:42] oh anyways so let's move on to one of the things

[00:20:46] so we're revisiting an old episode that we've been meaning to redo for a long time now

[00:20:53] because in the original episode i got fucking sucks it did and it got ruined during the

[00:21:00] production because we were using a really shitty setup then involve two microphones in one

[00:21:04] computer without proper mixing boards and all that fun stuff and it sucked it was bad it's

[00:21:11] static all over the place like yeah i've only ever watched listen to five minutes of it because it

[00:21:17] just sounded terrible i couldn't get through it so i've never actually listened to the episode

[00:21:23] cuz it sounded like shit those episodes ate by the way so uh oh yeah it was very early on in

[00:21:30] our career and we've already kind of done a revisited and we thought hey why don't we revisit the

[00:21:35] topic but not like rewatch it because the audio is terrible and we'll just re-talk about it

[00:21:40] with new stories as well yeah because we've been to so many more since then

[00:21:47] and in case you're wondering this episode we're going to be revisiting our favorite convention

[00:21:52] memories and stories yes uh as we've been going to conventions we forgot we're filming there

[00:21:58] oh god y'all are not talking about covering one now oh well um yeah we've been uh

[00:22:06] sex or the screen sex or it cut it out right nah but yeah we've been going to conventions pretty

[00:22:15] regularly since uh i'm going to one at the end of the month yeah it's still up in the air if i'm going

[00:22:22] to that one or not but um uh yeah we've been going pretty consistently since 2018 i want to say

[00:22:32] like 20 we both went to a few before that but not as frequently yeah so yeah conventions they're

[00:22:41] crazy um some of them go very well some of them do not yeah um so i guess going back we should

[00:22:48] probably think about what was the first convention we went to so i know it wasn't together so what

[00:22:53] was your first convention those boss and comic on boss and comic on cuz you know what been right yeah

[00:23:01] well the first time i went to a convention was the time i went with a former associate of mine oh yeah

[00:23:07] the loose and yeah and this this was the year that uh Boston Comic-Con fucked up and they like

[00:23:14] oversold they're uh yeah um and it was so crowded and legitimately we waited in line for three hours

[00:23:24] just for some guy to come out and tell us we're overbooked sorry no one's getting in today try again

[00:23:29] tomorrow yeah and like legit i thought a riot was gonna start yeah cuz i'm sure there's people

[00:23:38] like were there people outside waiting like in full cost play oh no a bunch of cost players were

[00:23:43] ripshit and like they like like we're threatening the convention staff i was like oh no this is going

[00:23:49] bad really quick yeah do you guys got the hello there yeah we ended up going up for a launcher

[00:23:56] than we went home because legit like it was a way entirely wasted day that sucks as a first i guess

[00:24:03] will be your first real convention so it was it was Boston Comic-Con the following year yeah

[00:24:10] much better handled we also bought tickets in advance which was uh i wasn't there right now you

[00:24:16] didn't go to this you were in college at the time yes um yeah cuz i was working night shift at the time

[00:24:24] now that i think about so this was twenty fifteen i want to say and i remember it because we went in

[00:24:31] and we got in pretty quickly and this was the year William Shatton it was going to be at the convention

[00:24:36] and i always remember cuz there was the point where he walked out to the stage there wasn't

[00:24:41] this convention center wasn't the big one that they did Boston Comic-Con at for a couple of years

[00:24:47] this was like this smaller one off by the water oh okay and i remember because this convention hall was

[00:24:52] so small that like there wasn't like a behind-access for Shatton to get to the stage so he had to go

[00:24:58] through the main event hall oh no they legit had giant black like sheet curtains and they blocked

[00:25:08] view of him as he walked through so no one could get a photo wow because yeah he was one of

[00:25:14] the he's one of the guys the charges for photos yeah i mean it's pretty standard that conventions you

[00:25:19] know yeah i just remember cuz like everyone was like was uh when they heard he was coming out everyone

[00:25:24] was like moving over to see if they could catch a glimpse of him and then we see them honestly though

[00:25:29] they probably did that too because like people were paying to get a photo with him and it wouldn't

[00:25:34] be bare if someone necessarily like took a selfie and did like that would kind of suck for the people

[00:25:39] who paid money okay so i get why they did it silly it looks silly but i understand from the whole

[00:25:46] business side like people would have been pissed if like hey you can just take a picture of it

[00:25:51] with him in the hallway why was i paying for this you know so i get it from that side yeah it was

[00:25:57] it's one of those things where because of the convention layout they couldn't do the normal like

[00:26:00] go back behind it like stage kind of thing and uh it was just so funny like these giant-ass like

[00:26:06] black curtains were blocking him was he walked through yeah just so no one could get a photo well probably

[00:26:12] security too i mean i was on the security detail but the curtains were specifically to keep from photos yeah

[00:26:21] yeah i always remember that though if that was a pretty good convention that was right after

[00:26:25] suicide squad came out oh so you saw a lot of Harley Quinn's no a lot of enchantresses

[00:26:32] oh yeah a lot of men the gospel and the enchantress honestly 10 out 10 let's go

[00:26:40] well what was funny is like you'd see you'd see them from behind you're like that's a good enchantress

[00:26:45] and then they turn around his whole beard you're like man man you just be like

[00:26:48] generous man you kind of pause and you'd go like you know he rocks it pretty good i'm not gonna lie

[00:26:55] it was just so funny like the the turnaround and it's like whoa oh she's so good but my i'm not

[00:27:03] man she stole my seed anymore she looks so cute sorry um that was it the also the convention i remember

[00:27:11] were like that was like our first real encounter with like the the solicitors who would appear all

[00:27:16] the time and try to sell you shit uh like i remember these one this one guy was trying to sell

[00:27:21] Ben these like self-help like a book son like uh like finding oh yeah he's like he hands him the books

[00:27:28] and he's like going over his whole spiel and Ben's just like i don't want this and he just takes the

[00:27:32] book and walks away oh my god it's like dude read the room i don't want your book if i want to be

[00:27:40] i would say something no it's funny though because that that convention was obviously pre-COVID by

[00:27:46] quite a bit and i remember how it was oh yeah and it was so insane like that was the first experience

[00:27:53] i had with the convention shovel yeah which is something that you master when you go to a convention

[00:27:59] because you are going to have to awkwardly shuffle and you will be in pain when you go the next

[00:28:05] morning you're gonna wake up and you're gonna be like oh why do my hips and legs hurt and

[00:28:09] what the convention shuffle also the classic convention stink like there's always

[00:28:16] it's always just like people aren't joking when they say like when you see people who are

[00:28:21] cost playing is like deodorant or like just bringing deodorant like that's a thing it it happens

[00:28:28] people be stinky and you know sometimes those deodorant sellers like if someone was just selling

[00:28:35] deodorant out of convention i feel like they could make a lot of money well my even if it was just

[00:28:40] to hear here's a quick little spray under your pits five dollars they don't stink anymore

[00:28:47] yeah so in some cases though like the some of those smells are deodorant ain't gonna help well

[00:28:53] yeah it's like in the sweatshirt that hasn't some washed or changed and a month that yeah

[00:29:01] it's always though like you're going through the crowd you just get hit by this like smell that

[00:29:04] burns your nose hairs and you just go then it just goes away and you're like and then you see

[00:29:10] the furry and you go i'm not gonna comment done that first scare me uh

[00:29:18] but yeah that was uh that was my first comic on uh i also learned really quick that uh

[00:29:25] so this was pre the video game like boom like a video game collecting boom so

[00:29:31] well it wasn't not the boom i just say like the insanity of the end collecting started

[00:29:36] so i had um that's that i told it in a previous episode that's where i got my two

[00:29:40] looters for Sega CD at this convention uh nice nice good time so what was your first convention

[00:29:47] Alex my first convention was anime Boston in 2016 uh or it was 2016 or 2017

[00:29:56] i think it was 17 because we went in 18 the following year yeah okay so it was 2017 um

[00:30:02] and i went with one of my sorority sisters in college which was fun uh we both kind of were just like

[00:30:09] the two people in this sorority house that like watched anime and no one else really did and we were

[00:30:15] like you want to go and move Austin she was like yeah do it and then we just like took a train

[00:30:21] into Boston we just went to anime Boston and it was really fun i didn't cosplay that year um

[00:30:29] this was my first one ever but i remember i went had a lot of fun it wasn't super crowded

[00:30:35] it definitely like well compared to the last time we went it wasn't super crowded but even like

[00:30:41] the time that we went together it definitely wasn't as crowded but it was super fun

[00:30:46] i loved where they held it and it was funny because the last time i was there it was for a dance

[00:30:51] competition which just makes me laugh because just to see how they flip it and change into something

[00:30:56] else is fun i remember at the time i wasn't really collecting manga or figures really anything so

[00:31:04] i think i bought like some stickers and some keychains and like maybe like a cube i didn't really buy

[00:31:10] that much so but it was fun i know we went and watched some of like the um like the a mv contest which

[00:31:17] was pretty cool so anime Boston does a lot of fun contest and one of her friends was in one of the

[00:31:22] cosplay contest so we watched that as well but it was fun i enjoyed it so then i believed in

[00:31:33] next convention the first one we went to together was uh Austin Comic Con the next year yes and that

[00:31:39] was my first time cosplaying as well yep you're misty cosplay yeah my misty cosplay was on point it

[00:31:47] was really good you got some good mileage out of that i did i think i bought that twice two two

[00:31:54] conventions i bought that to um um comic con and then in the anime Boston yeah uh so i worked

[00:32:01] both of those i remember this convention Boston Comic Con though because this was the moment we had

[00:32:06] the crew yeah where we had bender it was uh yeah then uh his roommate keegan and then um a couple

[00:32:16] other of his friends i think actually oh yeah john there another roommate yeah john was um john

[00:32:23] i don't yeah i don't watch feature on mom sorry his friend was bender but uh i remember that because

[00:32:31] like that was the convention where like we drove up in like the con boy yeah and we parked in that

[00:32:36] that was because i drove and i remember because i was like i was like psycho style and you like drove

[00:32:41] my car right yeah i drove the old the four run no not the four the high the high the high

[00:32:47] under and i peed in a bottle in the back seat because there was no bathrooms for miles uh yeah

[00:32:53] fire remember that in the barcule well it was either that or i i get arrested for being in public so

[00:33:00] yep my best was though i peed in the bottle and then i casually emptied it out in a puddle that

[00:33:05] i found on the side of the road i mean it was Boston you should just thrown in this

[00:33:11] drape people wouldn't have been honestly in hindsight i should have just threw the bottle in the trash

[00:33:15] because who really cares but yeah um yeah that that happened and then we uh that convention was

[00:33:21] insane because like legit we came in as this big group and then immediately dispersed well yeah

[00:33:27] especially because like when you're walking with someone who has a really good bender costume

[00:33:33] everyone wanted to take a picture with him and we were just like fuck this let's go

[00:33:39] we lost them very quick uh because we weren't waiting for that and then yeah we basically

[00:33:44] mean you went through like the whole convention floor for a while i didn't know a lot of game

[00:33:48] collecting that's where i got my burning rangers yeah um a whole bunch of that this

[00:33:53] yes so that this was our first real convention where we got introduced to some convention stereotypes

[00:33:59] like you'll get the one person that you see that's like you just see them walk behind you're just

[00:34:06] like they are very brave yep some some some cosplays you're like uh yeah so we are just like oh my oh

[00:34:16] my god like like you're you're very exposed so are madame look usually usually sir yeah it definitely

[00:34:27] was more eye-opening and this was the first time too that like i had cosplayed but also like that

[00:34:32] i had cosplay and people wanted pictures of my cosplay uh which was very overwhelming

[00:34:38] you were not ready for photos well i wasn't prepared for it because i was just like okay i just

[00:34:42] threw something together because i just happened to have a yellow shirt and i was like oh i can get

[00:34:46] shorts and suspenders and shoes and it's misty my hair was right now it's red and purple but my

[00:34:52] hair was like more of an orange like misty's color at the time so i was like this is perfect um

[00:34:59] so and i was very overwhelmed like i didn't know what to do when people want my picture i was like

[00:35:03] oh no i don't know what to do and then you and then when we this happened much later but you also

[00:35:09] encountered our buddy our buddy the male misty oh yeah that that was awesome i really enjoyed that

[00:35:18] i wish i had a photo with him because like i think i didn't have the time because i was very much

[00:35:22] overwhelmed in general so i was just like i was thinking photo and i wish i took a picture with him

[00:35:29] that was glorious favorite part of the time he was much hotter misty than i was like got to say

[00:35:34] he was the best part about that was though we had seen him a few times like through a

[00:35:39] big picture and we kept making eye contact but then finally i didn't like point at me and was like

[00:35:44] you no i saw i saw it from a mile away he was walking by and he finally like stopped and

[00:35:51] like looked over and he kind of made that look and then he started coming over like oh boy here it

[00:35:56] goes and he was like we need a photo now yeah you were just like okay i am really weird

[00:36:02] interactions with people at these committees like don't know i was end up having some sort of

[00:36:07] strange interaction with the person as well you never you never know what to do with like

[00:36:11] because someone wants a photo she was like okay it's like i like cosplaying but i also don't want

[00:36:19] anyone to take my picture like i'm just doing this for me not for you i don't want you to take

[00:36:26] that was funny though because he got really into it and you didn't know what to do

[00:36:30] i was like i have a toga pee i could throw it at you no

[00:36:35] yet yeah i remember that that was also kind of cosplay no i did not i wore a dress you

[00:36:42] wore a dragon mose shirt and you kind of spiked your hair up all the way well no that was just my

[00:36:47] hairstyle at the time you spiked it a little more though but you know the cosplay

[00:36:53] i got that was not a cosplay in the slightest grandma but um uh sorry that was also that was

[00:37:01] also the convention where we it took we so we planned on leaving it one we didn't get out of

[00:37:06] there till 230 yeah and then everyone fell asleep in the car and bill had still a little

[00:37:14] get to that we'll get to that but so we were leaving in of course like bender and fry we're still

[00:37:19] getting photos every three seconds yeah so like we were like inching closer and closer to the door

[00:37:24] and we we'd keep getting stopped and eventually we were like we're gonna just leave you here

[00:37:29] um yeah like we're leaving goodbye so then that's also where pickle Rick came by and like

[00:37:34] i can just completely like i think that's actually how we escape i think pickle Rick came by and

[00:37:39] like started screaming because that was a pickle Rick was like very a new thing and everyone was

[00:37:45] talking about pickle Rick yeah basically a pickle Rick cosplayer flew into the room

[00:37:50] started screaming and like just writting off and it distracted everybody long enough that we kind

[00:37:55] of got out of there like without any more photos um then of course we get to the cars and i was

[00:38:02] driving and getting out of Boston sucks yeah um and i remember because i was like super road rage

[00:38:07] literally i was like just get me the fuck out of here and i was like fucking slamming on the gas

[00:38:12] and like everyone was asleep well no everyone at that point everyone was like holy shit we're gonna die

[00:38:18] and then i got on the highway and calm down i was like okay now we go home and then and then

[00:38:24] immediately everyone was knocked and i'm just alone in the car like this is fun

[00:38:30] then i started then i was just blasting the black polar black parade the entire time

[00:38:39] yeah and then we went got ice cream you know what i should i should have put on a three

[00:38:44] cheers for sweet revenge and just had like i'm not okay playing in the radio hey we got ice cream

[00:38:51] we did we got ice cream that was fun though that that was a good that was probably the most

[00:38:56] like intense invention i think we've ever had yeah but it was one because like a couple the

[00:39:03] because then after that we went to uh enemy Boston the first time yeah that was your first time

[00:39:09] going to end my second uh your first time but this is the first time i had cosplay at enemy

[00:39:14] Boston which i just used the misty from pokemon one again and i had um i had my punk my punk rock

[00:39:21] pokemon trainer and it was v1 though because you have version one it did it went through many it's

[00:39:29] been through many an upgrade since yes that enemy Boston trip it wasn't a bad experience because

[00:39:38] i mean we both like no that was a good one to go again but i can't really remember much from it

[00:39:44] is that bad it wasn't the most it wasn't the most intense i'd say you know what the biggest thing

[00:39:51] i remember from it was that was right after persona five came out oh yeah and that's what inspired

[00:39:56] my next cosplay yeah because there was persona cosplayers yeah i think i'm like a cool a bunch of

[00:40:03] cool photos from that one too i got a photo with a i only took one photo because i don't like taking

[00:40:09] photos in general it's just not my thing um i don't really like taking photos period but uh

[00:40:15] yeah my uh i ran into a macato and uh food about cosplayers and i got a photo with them

[00:40:23] yeah and it was super awkward and i was like never again never again after that no photos

[00:40:30] i mean like i know we had fun and i know we did because i bought a sh** ton of anime there

[00:40:36] the i didn't really bought i don't think i even bought that much i think i probably bought

[00:40:40] like a couple art stuff and um i don't think i really bought that much maybe pop figures because

[00:40:46] i was very into pop figures yeah you bought a bunch of pops and you bought a bunch of pops and you

[00:40:51] bought a bunch of the art because you were you were very much on the art thing i hadn't really

[00:40:55] discovered art because i didn't own a house well i don't think i bought that much art i think it

[00:41:00] was more if anything stickers in like keychains because i wasn't buying posters because i only

[00:41:06] started buying posters recently like and recently being like uh like a few years like after

[00:41:13] cove is when i really started getting into that so yeah it must have just been stickers and like

[00:41:18] low keychains and stuff probably some of the little nightmares yeah nicknacks and stuff

[00:41:24] yeah yeah it wasn't a bad convention i had fun no yeah very bad we went back the next year

[00:41:31] and it definitely was not it was bigger than the year before but definitely not as intense as

[00:41:38] it would come in the future yeah because um the next convention we went to was uh Boston Comic Con again

[00:41:45] it was just us this time because the scheduling conflicts unfortunately yeah and are i cosplayed

[00:41:52] as uh foodubba from persona 5 and bill once again was a pokemon trainer you'll see this is a running

[00:42:01] running cosplay i've done it three times i want to say and this i'm this was a pretty fun one wasn't

[00:42:08] though this year they changed the size of like the convention floor base so they down size yeah

[00:42:16] like it was um they went from three floors to one floor and they half of the of the vendor space

[00:42:22] was now a food court yeah a very empty food court i'm gonna point out yeah so i and i know we went

[00:42:29] another year after that before we stopped going yeah uh yeah i honestly we can probably put both

[00:42:37] of these together because both of them were very unremarkable well yeah they both had cut down

[00:42:42] the space and i feel like the first year we were like okay like maybe you know next year will be

[00:42:47] better and one thing i've noticed is like especially if comic con fan expo Boston is what's it's called

[00:42:54] uh but they officially call it but most people call it Boston Comic Con um they were putting more

[00:43:01] emphasis on like the people being there but then like they'd always cancel so people would like

[00:43:07] be like oh can't wait to see this and then it's like just kidding they're not coming anymore

[00:43:12] yeah who is the big who are the big people when we went well see like we don't give a shit about

[00:43:17] so like that's not why we go you know so i just i can't be bothered to wait in the line

[00:43:23] that's the thing yeah but it was fun honestly like i was just like going for like the cosplays and stuff

[00:43:29] and um it's always fun to look at the art and just look at the vendors see what they have um get some

[00:43:35] games or get some manga and anime not for me at the time but definitely was looking more at games

[00:43:42] yeah you didn't hit into manga for quite a while no not until recently honestly yeah um i'm trying to

[00:43:50] think and then the year after i i the year after we have more of a story so nothing really remarkable

[00:43:57] happened the year i did food but you did the pokemon trainer but the year after that um you were

[00:44:04] the red blood cell from cells at work and cells at work had like literally just come out at the time

[00:44:10] um but i also remember a train story on the way back to

[00:44:14] oh was it was it back or the way there i thought it was the way there it was no i thought it was

[00:44:19] the way back it was the way back because we revolved just like we just want to go home um but anyways

[00:44:25] before we get into that i went as a red blood cell but on the way there being bill had to pee so

[00:44:33] badly we we got off at an a station before because we i knew there was a bathroom there because it

[00:44:39] was like the like the central station where the amtrak was in central station i think yeah that's

[00:44:44] what um was where the amtrak comes in so they had bathroom and like food court in there so i was

[00:44:49] like okay we're getting off here and this is where we can go pee so we ran found the bathroom but then

[00:44:55] like bill went i went and i was kind of waiting for him at some point and then we walked by him

[00:44:59] we hear like a kid go oh that's white blood cell um and like that was pretty fun uh but i just

[00:45:06] remember that story oh that was also because we weren't gonna get back on the train because Boston

[00:45:11] is so such a small city that like you can literally walk from station of places yeah so like we also

[00:45:17] were like and this isn't that far so we just ended up walking to our house my favorite though is

[00:45:21] like because it's Boston and Boston is like either sunny or it's like overcast and gross

[00:45:27] it was very overcast and gross that day and i remember we're out there walking and some guy just

[00:45:32] sitting on the side of the road looks up at us and goes comic con we were just like yeah it's like

[00:45:39] it's like it's that way he pointed off and we were like thank you thank you red the man on the

[00:45:45] corner um and i remember this one like i think this was kind of like one of the like nails in the

[00:45:52] coffin was like i think this was the first time when we got there early and we waited like wasn't

[00:45:59] like a hour or two just to get in the building like it took forever yeah the line was very

[00:46:06] poorly they were understabbed i guess yeah it was very badly run because like it was like an hour

[00:46:12] outside and almost like an hour inside the building too yeah it was crazy keep in mind this was

[00:46:19] pre-COVID so like we didn't even have like staffing issues yet no yeah it was just bad and then when

[00:46:25] we finally got in it was like just kind of let down because you were like oh it's back to i think

[00:46:32] it shrunk even more yeah the food court was even bigger the food court and like the guest areas were

[00:46:38] even bigger and then like all the vendors and stuff it was even smaller yet because we cleared out

[00:46:43] the vendor floor and like like half an hour and we were just like yeah we do next yeah and they didn't

[00:46:49] even have like an artist all year anything like it was just kind of all they did but it was shoved

[00:46:54] in with the vendors so yeah so you can really even find anything and i don't know that one was just

[00:47:00] like it was okay like my cosplay is really fun like i really liked that one and a lot of people

[00:47:06] like took my photo and stuff which was great we ran into your camp friends too at that yeah that

[00:47:11] was fun they were not they were also like i feel like feeling the vibe of like this isn't as fun

[00:47:17] well yeah because we ate lunch together in the food court and i remember it was for the whole time

[00:47:21] we were just like wow this is lame yeah it just like kind of so and they were there to see people

[00:47:27] like they had gone with the purpose of going to see x y and z star but really like they're just

[00:47:34] wasn't that much to do um because even like in turn like i don't even think they really had them

[00:47:40] in panels or like other activities too well a lot of people canceled there was a lot of

[00:47:45] yeah there was a lot of and then i remember we were leaving and we just kind of left and we were like

[00:47:51] like built a photo for me and then like we kind of pieced out we left because i remember our

[00:47:56] response was it like so we're not doing this one again right yeah yeah that is better ones um

[00:48:05] and then we like hold on the train yeah and a very

[00:48:10] angry man there's a very angry very angry racist man yeah like i remember like we're just

[00:48:18] sitting there and we're just like you know full-costfully just trying to mind our own business

[00:48:22] and like this man like he starts to grumble and under his breath and we're both like okay

[00:48:28] like like just ignore him and then it starts getting more and more and more and it was like

[00:48:33] getting to the point where we were like oh my god what's gonna happen and then we found out he's

[00:48:37] screaming at this asian man i'm not sure where he was from yeah he was they got into an argument

[00:48:45] and then everybody on the bus literally started well on the train started moving to the other side

[00:48:50] of the train like yeah yeah and we were both just like I think we got out of our seats to go stand

[00:48:57] somewhere no we were we were far enough away that we were okay but um i remember because then the

[00:49:02] the asian man got off the train and um the guy made this really nasty comment as he was getting

[00:49:07] off and it was like really dude like you couldn't just let it go yeah it was a very

[00:49:12] because the guy the guy had uh the guy had moved to get away from him like because he was ridiculous um

[00:49:19] and also looking at that pre-COVID too like because there was a lot of like

[00:49:25] asian hate after COVID as well because people were kind of just

[00:49:30] saying that for some i don't know reason um the world is really kind of it was really shitty then

[00:49:36] but it was really shit before too i guess so um that was crazy like that was one of our weirdest

[00:49:44] that train got very quiet oh yeah until that until that guy got off and then i feel like there was

[00:49:50] like a collective like sigh of like thank god he's gone like there was definitely one of those reactions

[00:49:58] but yeah yeah that was uh what was a bit um intense i'm yeah didn't enjoy that train ride and i think

[00:50:08] that was one of the do we know we took the train again for and we went to anime Boston again

[00:50:15] that was that was the year we did our best cosplay we ever did yeah and honestly like i was

[00:50:20] honestly thinking about reposting that photo because you know like it'll be in the thumbnail for

[00:50:24] this episode yeah but we we cosplayed as android 17 and eighteen um which is how excited our

[00:50:31] hair blonde for a little while i did and honestly it was probably one of the most fun cosplays we've

[00:50:36] ever done um well yeah it was fun just super in yeah we're brother and sister and it was just

[00:50:42] perfect um it we got a ton of photos like people love that one and i ran into four other android 17

[00:50:49] yeah yeah that was pretty funny that convention was fun the only thing is unfortunately in hindsight it

[00:50:57] is a little bit hampered by uh the company we were accompanied with oh yeah unfortunately yeah um

[00:51:05] we're just not gonna talk about that but we other than they were responsible for one part of

[00:51:11] that trip that i did not enjoy in the slightest oh yeah we went to a maid cafe it was neither a

[00:51:17] mar or i did not enjoy that in the slug it is especially because like i don't know like

[00:51:23] i would be more inclined to go to a maid cafe in japan because nothing against the girls but

[00:51:30] they weren't they were very scary it felt uncomfortable i feel like it would be i don't know

[00:51:37] we didn't want to do it we just kind of were roped into it by who we were away from we were like all right

[00:51:43] i i wanted nothing to do with that i was so uncomfortable but i was like really please i don't want

[00:51:49] to go i i don't want to be here either but anyways we did that wouldn't do it again i mean i did

[00:51:57] it wasn't i didn't pawn off those awful hen'tide buttons i ended up with so that's good yeah you uh

[00:52:04] all of you i was like i was like i don't want these to send anyone want these and then

[00:52:08] sure enough yeah who took them and i was like get them off my fucking get them away i don't want these

[00:52:13] yep um aside from that though that was bad about that one that that and you losing your phone

[00:52:20] that i did lose my phone um that was that was a tragedy which sucked but we found it it was good

[00:52:26] uh the nice security lady had it and uh thank god no one stole it so that was good and now i'm always

[00:52:34] like very hyper aware of where my phone is and whenever i cosplay i make sure to put in a like

[00:52:40] i make sure to think about that like think about where's my phone where's my nis where's my

[00:52:43] that so my cosplay i have coming up i've already got a plan so we're good yeah that was i remember

[00:52:51] that like insane those were the only downsides because the rest of that convention was great no yet

[00:52:56] that one was probably one of the most fun anime boss and yet especially because like anime boss

[00:53:02] sets up very well where they have like a whole room like a whole area set in like by room i mean

[00:53:09] like a really big spot set for the artist which is awesome and then they have the regular vendors as

[00:53:14] well yeah two separate separate event areas which is and they're both like just as big like each one

[00:53:20] is about the same size so it's really nice uh i will say the only downside to anime boss and

[00:53:27] this was every year was the ac in that convention center could not do it yeah it was always a little

[00:53:33] toasty in there well it's weird because you'd find like the cold spot and then once you discovered

[00:53:38] the cold spot everybody else also discovered it and it became a hot spot it became a hot spot again

[00:53:44] it'd be like yeah and then definitely that you could see it was growing and more people were going

[00:53:53] well it makes sense because anime was a lot anime was coming yeah so um yeah what's the next one

[00:54:03] after so after that i mean uh retro will happen after that well no no retro oh retro

[00:54:08] the first retro world uh also because i was living in kinetic it yep and the the first right

[00:54:16] i so i said before retro worlds my favorite convention uh we go to every year that that one just

[00:54:22] i vibe with the best the first retro world we went to though that was special in a lot of ways

[00:54:30] um so the fun part about retro world is like it is the most lax convention i think i've we've

[00:54:37] ever been to yes because getting in is so easy yeah it's also i don't know why but it's still

[00:54:46] always kind of concerns me though how easy this to get in there um but you know it's a very small

[00:54:52] convention so i i get why um but yeah it's always very very lax like you just pick up your tickets

[00:54:58] down at like the ticketing area go on up and there's always another convention happening at the same time

[00:55:05] which is always very funny the first year we went it was uh home it was interior design oh my god

[00:55:11] and oh my god it was yeah it was very so and you always get this amazing contrast of like

[00:55:17] um gamers and the people going to this other convention yeah uh the home and garden was not

[00:55:25] the funniest one we have more stories for later oh yeah oh yeah oh that first year though was insane

[00:55:32] like that event like the convention hall so this was the only year we went where it wasn't also a

[00:55:37] wrestling convention well it's not like a wrestling convention they just have wrestling matches

[00:55:45] but it's a big part of it now like the first year we went it wasn't and it was like all gaming

[00:55:51] everywhere and i just remember like going through that the hall was so big and there were so many

[00:55:57] vendors like i found so many games that year like that was like i think my because that was before

[00:56:03] it got really bad like insane price wise and i just remember like we stocked up on so much shit

[00:56:11] you got a bunch of art i remember yeah i got a bunch of i think i got a bunch of jojo's art too which

[00:56:16] was pretty cool because you were just getting into jojo's at that point like that was it

[00:56:21] there was no one piece for this but yeah you were still pre one piece i was pre one piece up until

[00:56:26] yeah pre one piece really didn't happen until covid oh it didn't because you remember the first

[00:56:32] first episode of the podcast you hadn't started watching it yet yep yeah because all of this was

[00:56:37] pre podcast too right yep yeah because we didn't start the podcast until after covid so yeah all

[00:56:44] of this is pre podcast the next the next thing we were losing before podcasting no just kidding

[00:56:50] well i had the instagram blog at this point um but yeah that was

[00:56:58] that that was a crazy one ironically like retro world the first one it wasn't really

[00:57:04] as much as i loved it though not a lot of stuff happened because it was such a chill convention

[00:57:10] yeah i did the most memorable thing was you had a lot of fun you got a lot of games and we were like

[00:57:16] yeah we're gonna go back next year but next year didn't happen yeah because the fire nation attacked

[00:57:24] that's one way of putting it yes yeah covid happened in all the convent because i had tickets to

[00:57:31] the next anime Boston the ill-fated 2020 edition and it was also we were playing out going i was

[00:57:39] my company at the time i was working with was having me relocate to Houston so we were actually

[00:57:44] planning to go to a convention in Houston there was gonna fly down but um i had only started working

[00:57:50] their march and of course what happened in march yeah only really live there for a month and then

[00:57:58] i had to get the hell out there and go back home and the convention got canceled um and we lost in

[00:58:04] godly postponed yeah two years yeah and yeah it's crazy and we did not go to another convention

[00:58:13] until 2021 yeah the first canedicon that we went to yeah and i gotta say canedicon great experience um

[00:58:24] that first canedicon like looking back at it yeah it was a little crazy because they didn't really

[00:58:31] know what to do go involved like considering uh all the covid stuff it was still very they were in

[00:58:38] that weird phase we were still masking at that point wait a masking was still a thing it was it wasn't

[00:58:45] even that it was more just like the whole they still didn't really know how to handle it yet so

[00:58:49] like that was like you still had to go through the whole like the line to get in was insane because

[00:58:53] you had to go through all the wackiness of like uh you need your ID and your covid card to be scanned

[00:59:00] and yeah it was it was a lot more intense but i cosplayed that year because i had i was

[00:59:05] pleaning on cost playing for the convention in Houston and i was going as pullnaraf from

[00:59:12] geospezar adventure uh and that one was really fun i really liked that one i didn't do the full hair

[00:59:18] because that was just a lot of work and i was not ready to do that so i ended up just doing like

[00:59:22] a silver rake that was my uh that was my last cosplay i ever did because i just had to do it.

[00:59:27] yeah you did the shinobi yeah i was a leave shinobi one kanobe i was a leave shinobi and my mask was like

[00:59:34] struggling the entire time because it wouldn't stay up and i was like uh this sucks

[00:59:38] yeah i i did find a cool mask it was i actually think i got from red bubble and so on just printed um

[00:59:45] pullnaraf stand on the mask and i was like this perfect so i just had like um that is my mask which

[00:59:51] is pretty cool um kenedicon though also gave us some of the greatest quotes we've ever

[00:59:57] oh my god yeah like i swear this convention had so many characters in it

[01:00:04] the boba tea what's the name of something boba tea

[01:00:09] therefore they're right on the kids and the boba tea just green you know

[01:00:14] how what what is in milk tea milk um empty also the my favorite too was like you were trying to buy

[01:00:24] something in the girls like how much is the milk tea and the person who's like i'm doing a transaction

[01:00:29] right now just please wait one second yeah and then my favorite of all times still the do you have

[01:00:35] we games we games we games we games right in front of everywhere but like but the best part was like

[01:00:44] three we were like three books down we could still hear him going do you have we games

[01:00:48] before guy like he couldn't find his we games i just feel like people just kind of at this point it

[01:00:56] was still very much people had not gotten out of their houses or talked to people

[01:01:01] but still better than a later convention we went to no yeah i was still much better than the next one

[01:01:07] we went to well no no we went to one in between we did you you keep forgetting about retro world

[01:01:13] i i thought that was later i want retro changes their dates a lot too well no no you have to remember

[01:01:20] anime Boston got canceled in 2021 as well oh yeah okay that's that's where i'm getting messed up

[01:01:26] but um we had one more quote that you love you loved to quote this one what it was we were going

[01:01:32] through the artist gallery in echinetagon and and the famous quote of the the one pretentious

[01:01:36] and pretentious asshole i only do digital art like saying that to an artist oh and then

[01:01:45] i'm just gonna say this now because i have a gripe and it happens at every convention that we go to

[01:01:51] if you take pictures of someone's art and not buy it you are a fucking asshole and get out honestly

[01:01:58] like they should have people get thrown out for that because that's just wrong like those people

[01:02:02] are here and they're trying to like they're selling it for money if you appreciate the art

[01:02:07] buy it or don't do not take a picture of it that is rude and you should get kicked out for that

[01:02:12] because you're basically stealing the rar at that point also don't cut in front of people who are

[01:02:17] actually trying to buy the art yeah to take a picture of it like if you do that you're an asshole

[01:02:21] and i'm sorry but like you may not think you are but you are because you're basically telling that

[01:02:25] person i don't want to buy your art but i'm still gonna take a picture of it but i'm not going

[01:02:29] to pay you so the only time it is ever acceptable to take a photo of an art booth is if you're taking

[01:02:35] a picture of the qr code or the uh social medias yeah that's it if or if you bought something from them

[01:02:43] and you want to just remember the artist and like the booth again that is acceptable but if

[01:02:48] you're just taking a photo because you don't want to buy the art and you're being a cheap skate

[01:02:53] get out if you can't afford it don't take a picture of it there's a difference between taking

[01:02:57] a picture of the booth so you can find it later or being one of those people with a fucking iPad who

[01:03:02] like sneaks in there and is like zooming in no one is like taking a picture of the picture like

[01:03:06] that is wrong you shouldn't do that like and they're not subtle in the slightest like i'll

[01:03:13] purposely fuck up people's pictures oh no i'll get in the way like i'll do it all the time

[01:03:17] cuz like it's just wrong and like i like i never say anything to the artist but i can always tell

[01:03:23] if you block someone's photo they appreciate it because like it's it's wrong they're there and

[01:03:28] they're trying to make a living off of this like if you're not gonna buy it get out like you

[01:03:33] can't go out to like a like rent like random stores and do that like you can't just go in and

[01:03:39] like be like ooh i want i'm gonna like i want this box of cheetos i don't have any money while i'm

[01:03:45] just gonna take it like that's what you're doing basically you're just taking it also this convention

[01:03:52] as much as i did like it though it was the first convention where i started noticing a bit of um

[01:03:58] uh line etiquette was starting to not be followed anymore oh yeah people just like

[01:04:02] but i mean a lot of that i think was just i mean social well it was it was definitely social

[01:04:08] confusion because people hadn't been out and forever yeah but um one thing that really

[01:04:13] grinded my gears was like this actually where the digital art person came from was

[01:04:18] there's a lot you got an obvious line behind you if people who also want to go to set booth

[01:04:24] it's like don't chat up this seller for like 20 minutes when there's clearly a line

[01:04:28] hey especially too like they're trying to make money at the same time like

[01:04:32] well yeah because like they probably appreciate that you want to talk to them but also like

[01:04:36] it's a business for them like well yeah especially when they see people leaving the line

[01:04:40] because they don't feel like waiting yeah which is very common and it's always that's kind of like

[01:04:45] why a lot of artists will now kind of like shoot people away if they're if there's a line if there's

[01:04:51] no line though gladly talk to yeah yeah or if it's later in the convention like they you know if

[01:04:58] there's not a lot of people around go for it but like there's clearly a crowd there they're here

[01:05:03] to make money like they need to make money like it's third some of them that's how they make a living

[01:05:08] like let them make a living see the only time i don't feel bad for leaving is when like you you

[01:05:14] just you see the the seller clearly doesn't care it is just continuing the conversation

[01:05:20] i guess i've had that happen a few times and i'm like are they clearly don't care and they just walk

[01:05:24] off yeah um because that you'll see a lot of them will be like kind of looking back like

[01:05:29] hello like yeah but uh it's hard because like they don't want to be rude you know because they're

[01:05:35] trying to sell something but at the same time like you know it's also all right i need to take care

[01:05:41] of another customer yeah the worst is when the purchases are even made and they're still talking

[01:05:45] it's like move on like there's people other people here i want to buy shit get out

[01:05:50] that's why you kind of wish they had multiple people but a lot of them obviously can't hire

[01:05:54] well yeah all of them like and if anyone is helping them it's usually like a loved one or like

[01:06:00] fan you know friend yeah it's usually just it's not so when they're necessarily paying it's

[01:06:06] just so news helping them you know my favorite part about that the digital art thing though was

[01:06:11] you remember how we were like next in line behind that girl and the the second she made that

[01:06:17] comment i i remember this to this day is like the the seller literally just like all the sudden

[01:06:21] just ignores her and immediately goes to us like hi can i help you yeah just completely just like

[01:06:27] go away i've done with you now yeah i mean like it's just like a snotty i think they were trying to sound

[01:06:34] like they were trying to be like friendly but like it came off as so snotty like it was like it was

[01:06:39] very uncomfortable just remembering it and being like not the thing you're supposed to do especially

[01:06:45] because the art was beautiful like yeah they were a really good artist yeah i can't remember which

[01:06:50] poster i bought from them but it was one of the ones around here yeah so

[01:06:55] yep but yeah so canada commas great yeah so great we didn't go to the next year

[01:07:01] i think it was like it was it was it was a scheduling it was scheduling

[01:07:06] did we go did we go to a different one instead or was it just

[01:07:10] we went to an angry Boston that year oh okay yeah so before that we went to a retro world again

[01:07:18] yep the only masked retro world that we went to because the following year everything

[01:07:24] had pretty much come back normal the fire nation lost yeah i will say retro world's way of

[01:07:30] handling it was much much simpler like everything they seem to do uh it was basically you walked

[01:07:36] in and if you didn't have a mask on they told you put a mask on yeah and if you didn't like that

[01:07:42] they told you to leave yeah is he is that yeah and it worked fine and honestly if people were throwing

[01:07:48] up it like no one really did though because no no one did what your world has like the best like

[01:07:54] attendees as well yeah and they always it's always a really good crowd like good vibes at retro

[01:08:00] world i don't think we've ever been where like there's been rude people or like it's always

[01:08:05] been really nice and chill i'm trying to remember what i'm trying to remember

[01:08:10] maybe that will next year i don't know i'd have to pick a video game character though but maybe

[01:08:14] i'll do a dragon quest character in honor that would be cool um i do remember though i can't

[01:08:22] remember what the the combined convention was this year because i think that one was it wasn't

[01:08:27] the wedding the wedding was the next one maybe i didn't have one maybe yeah maybe it was

[01:08:32] i think they did because i think it would have been too many people right i think that was why um

[01:08:40] i don't i don't think there was another one scheduled they probably there's probably a

[01:08:44] COVID because when we connect comes always just one but i think it probably was just to limit the

[01:08:50] amount of people you know and like just also probably too because like at least at one event

[01:08:56] if someone did get sick and they let someone know they can trace it back to the whole event

[01:09:01] but they're having two and someone got sick at one and the other like that would be a lot of

[01:09:06] that's probably it probably just wasn't one that year okay that's probably why i can't remember

[01:09:11] uh i'm assuming i remember though because you know what my favorite part about retro world is

[01:09:16] every year though what the set the recurring sellers that like every year you about the same

[01:09:23] people and they remember you sometimes which is pretty interesting because like the the guy the guy

[01:09:30] with the car that's been there every year hmm that was he's always a nice guy yeah we always chat

[01:09:35] with him um there's all the different sellers and the vibe is always just super chill because it's like

[01:09:41] it's literally just gamers and they just want to chat me i will say the chatting wasn't as big this

[01:09:47] year but probably just because of the COVID stuff yeah honestly yeah probably mostly because i mean

[01:09:53] it always was hard to have a conversation with a man's gun oh you know i can play for god the first

[01:09:58] the first retro world was the that was the year i met Derek Alexander

[01:10:04] sorry who's that the stop skeletons were fighting guy oh yeah he was there and i chat with him for a

[01:10:13] good like 20 minutes he was very nice guy nice it's like one of the few celebrities i've met

[01:10:21] um yeah i don't think you've ever really tried to meet anyone other than that well there was no

[01:10:26] and else i really know no one else like give a shit about it's not even that it's more just like if

[01:10:31] i don't know them what am i gonna say and i don't want to just be like hi i don't know your content

[01:10:37] at all i'm just here to take a photo yeah true yeah it's just something like that yep um

[01:10:45] but yeah so then the next convention we went to after that was

[01:10:50] was it anime Boston i think it was anime Boston it was because it was the last one with masks

[01:10:55] that we went to but in re Boston so we this was the first time we were coming from Connecticut it was

[01:11:02] we had started podcasting at this point and were you living at my

[01:11:07] quaint yeah i think i was in the apartment by this you were there you were living so we had been

[01:11:11] processing for quite a bit at this point well yeah just the first the the uh

[01:11:17] kineticon and retro world were both uh podcast because we did episodes on them

[01:11:22] so we let me see oh my god it's been an hour sorry i just looked at the time um

[01:11:29] we were podcasting and so we took we drove to the far of it like the closest green line stopped

[01:11:36] to us and then we had to find a bathroom we had to find a bathroom because you were gonna have

[01:11:41] i was gonna pee my pants it was bad it it was started out rough so we found a bathroom

[01:11:46] and then oh yeah we had to get on the highway and go to a truck stop

[01:11:49] yes it was it was a shit show so now we learned just if we're gonna

[01:11:54] well anyways it started out bad it didn't get better so we all were on the green line

[01:12:02] green line sucks as usual because just taking the train sucks anyways uh also it was the same week

[01:12:10] as a baseball game i remember yeah yeah so there's red sucks also keep in mind this will be important

[01:12:18] later every all the mask mandates had basically been dropped by this point but not at the convention

[01:12:24] so yeah on the train we didn't have masks we were crammed in there like sardines and

[01:12:29] masks also either of us got sick too no you didn't yeah um but yeah so we took the train in

[01:12:40] train it didn't start well but then we finally got off the train we made it

[01:12:46] made it into the convention and then just getting our badges was a shit show

[01:12:51] yeah you could just tell as soon as we walked in there was way too many people there

[01:12:57] so it was a combination of there was way too many people and there was not enough staff

[01:13:02] no yeah and my honest assumption is that so they sold all those tickets during COVID

[01:13:10] and they spent all the money to keep the convention alive and they said oh we need to sell more

[01:13:16] tickets or we can't have the convention still like you know keep the company alive like anime

[01:13:21] bossed in a lot yeah so they spent all the money just to keep them alive during the non during

[01:13:26] the COVID years of them not running it and they had to make more money so he sold so many more tickets

[01:13:33] and it was insane the amount of people there and honestly I don't even think it was that they were

[01:13:41] they were they weren't under staff for the regular amount but they had double the people

[01:13:46] then they knew they had because they stole double the tickets they were understaffed in certain areas

[01:13:51] because remember the security joke that that was yeah it it was it should but we're we're getting in

[01:13:59] line and like also just like some of the people were just a little ridiculous like well in

[01:14:04] in the email and everything that you signed up for it said you need to wear a mask at this convention

[01:14:09] you signed up that's what it said and then there was multiple signs around the room and there was

[01:14:14] like this family behind us and they were throwing like a fit in front of us in front of us and they're

[01:14:19] throwing and they're throwing a fit because they have to wear masks so I'm like it was on the thing

[01:14:23] like I get it none of us want to be wearing it but we're doing it because that's what they said

[01:14:28] but like it says it on this sign this thing there are people telling you you signed it when you bought

[01:14:33] the tickets like like fuck off and just put the mask on like it was just so annoying like I was just

[01:14:42] like so annoyed I'm just like it's literally on every wall like put it on yeah like don't throw

[01:14:47] fake because of scene as much as like they were annoying though I do agree a little bit with

[01:14:54] how ridiculous the convention was handling it oh yeah I mean we followed all the rules but I

[01:15:00] still was like this is absurd no I get I got where they were coming from because Lily nowhere was

[01:15:06] requiring it anymore but at the same time it's like that's their rules oh it's not even the mask

[01:15:10] thing that got me it was more how so when we went to this convention like the world had basically

[01:15:18] opened up again everything was pretty much going back to normal because this was 2022 keep in mind

[01:15:22] like we were already beyond that year yeah but like it felt like so kinetic on was pretty strict

[01:15:32] but it made sense this was like 10 times worse yeah um this literally felt like I we stepped into a

[01:15:40] time capsule back to like peak 2020 yeah um because I remember like when we got up to the actual lines

[01:15:48] like where they had to scan your COVID card they had to scan your license they had to do all this shit

[01:15:54] I still remember cuz like that you would get up to the vendor and they'd be like six feet and I'm

[01:15:58] like I'm like I'm looking at it like while everyone else is crammed together as close together in

[01:16:03] that line yeah that's I feel like that's what was kind of ridiculous about it because it was

[01:16:07] literally like you couldn't barely walk in this convention just the hallways alone because they sold

[01:16:15] oversold the tickets because I'm telling you like they spent all the money and they sold double

[01:16:19] the tickets because they needed the money to run it and it was just it was ridiculous like it just

[01:16:25] wasn't even fun because like you couldn't you were convention shuffling the whole time oh yeah

[01:16:30] you couldn't walk there was so many people there was no spot that you could just stand like it

[01:16:36] it was incredible anytime you found a spot that you could stand it would immediately people would

[01:16:42] like be like ooh free space and like we're just surround you and you'd be like ugh it was it was

[01:16:48] probably like that was definitely like the worst convention we've ever been to and I mean it was

[01:16:54] like I mean we bought stuff for like cuz at this time I was collecting figures you were collecting manga

[01:16:59] um in our in stuff and like honestly that part was great the shopping was great but like

[01:17:06] it was just like once we finished our shopping we were like do you want to just leave and you're

[01:17:10] like yeah and we just left because it was um well I had been keep in mind I'd been elbowed in the face

[01:17:16] three times yeah it was the rudest people I think I've ever seen it in convention yeah but I mean

[01:17:24] honestly looking back at it now probably more was just like people weren't being rude they were

[01:17:29] probably just equally as frustrated about how shitty the event was well the people I got elbowed by

[01:17:34] were the fucking assholes taking photos of our art so okay remember the assholes yes do you remember

[01:17:40] that one dude that was had the fucking iPad set up and he would just fucking like go up his way

[01:17:46] in front of people in line yeah and then just run off he fucking bodied us while we were in line

[01:17:53] and I almost punched him I was like dude get away from me you I was so not feeling that after that

[01:18:00] but yeah I only had one positive interaction during that entire convention if that was when um

[01:18:10] that was when I bought that at the buy-lifte photo I have the one in the team I uh the one that's

[01:18:14] hanging in my kitchen now oh I needed a place and it was an empty wall and I liked it there but

[01:18:20] you were like it's here now it's like my trophy my trophy is in my dining room my chimp

[01:18:27] yeah but um yeah I bought that photo from the the girl that drew it and she was like she was like

[01:18:34] um so you can either pay so the prices of this is she's like if you want you can just get the photo

[01:18:38] for cheaper like yeah I like the frame I'm like giving the frame as well I want the frame give

[01:18:43] you a fucking frame well no because it was really was nicely framed like in this really nice

[01:18:48] like photo and I was like that I like the way that looks I'll buy it and she was like oh thank you

[01:18:52] that chatted for a few minutes because there's no one in line so it was very nice and I like the photo

[01:18:58] still have it to this day also I remember this convention too the Mike the thing that I thought

[01:19:05] was the most interesting was it was anime Boston but the majority of stuff was fire emblem

[01:19:12] which I thought was really funny that was funny yeah it was so much fire emblem stuff

[01:19:19] that year was definitely bad vibes very bad vibes just a lot of very angry I still could not

[01:19:25] I could knock it over that security they had one oh my god yeah the first two years we went to

[01:19:30] anime Boston they had the full security setup of like multiple lines and like everyone go through

[01:19:36] there yeah this was like one line with one dude yeah he did not give a fuck like one person

[01:19:44] beeped through and he was like I don't care go and I was just like dude like hello yeah and that

[01:19:50] was really scared and I feel like that also just kind of started us off with like I mean literally

[01:19:54] anyone could have walked in that building like I mean they know nothing happened but it was

[01:19:58] still like god nothing happened but like something could have happened honestly I was more

[01:20:04] worried about getting crushed yeah no and that was a genuine because I'm sorry if there I'm

[01:20:11] surprised the fire marshal didn't shut that down because there you could not walk and if there

[01:20:16] was a disaster the people would have been trampled like if there was a fire in that building and everyone

[01:20:22] trying to leave we would have been screwed people are like it was very unsafe and very like looking

[01:20:28] back at it now it's like I'm surprised they didn't get sued for that event because like if something

[01:20:33] bad happened they would have been doomed like that adventure would have never happened again also

[01:20:38] I get why they saw double the tickets but like it's wrong that they did that because that was

[01:20:43] very unsafe also just a bit of a convention pet peeve mine but I bring it up just because this

[01:20:50] was very apparent here if you're in full cosplay and you have like a giant like weapon like sort thing

[01:20:58] don't take it into the friggin art gallery yeah I get sometimes you have no choice but it's like

[01:21:04] if you aren't even buying art and you're just walking through it's like please don't do that yeah

[01:21:08] there's other spot but I mean honestly there wasn't any other spots though for them I know

[01:21:12] I know because they're the always were packed like because you remember how we were like

[01:21:17] we because we got we were so over the vendor floor because it was just insanity in there

[01:21:22] and we were like you want to try the art gallery again it was even worse yeah it that one was bad

[01:21:27] that one was a very bad enemy bar I hope it's better because surprise is where I'm going at the end

[01:21:33] of the month so I hope it's better but yeah that that wasn't very fun yeah and my favorite thing was

[01:21:39] like that gave me that gave us such a bad taste for conventions that like we were worried about the

[01:21:44] next one we went to yeah thankfully though it was retro world yes and retro world always comes

[01:21:52] back around to save the day so this was you eat retro world because that this retro world was the

[01:21:59] hmm I think my ending gets to table you do that like every episode

[01:22:08] like what do you turn to say

[01:22:15] that your tears were entirely fake and you just proved it right there

[01:22:19] I have a key to your house

[01:22:27] just imagine if I just did it like I just walked in right now I would do that at least wait

[01:22:36] do you want a tillie till a shot real quick

[01:22:39] thank you are are you cleaning your pot

[01:22:44] oh I just really am covering off the the mic with my arm oh that's too high I gotta fix the kids

[01:22:57] well that's better okay but yeah so retro world 2022 was great yes

[01:23:07] um because this was so no masks everything was pretty much back to normal

[01:23:11] um once again chill vibe everyone was chill and then this was the year with the wedding

[01:23:18] intention next to it yeah that was fun oh just all these like rides to be surrounded by

[01:23:25] the nerdy skimmers you can ever see yeah oh it was such a contrast it was very silly we also

[01:23:32] went on the sunday too in the sunday because we because this was the same week you knew so this was

[01:23:37] yeah so I had moved into my beautiful house it looked very different at the time it now looks

[01:23:43] if it's better but um yeah I had moved and um we like I think we we were like we were even

[01:23:54] contemplating not even going because we were just like I don't know should we but well you were

[01:23:59] contemplating not going I was going no matter what yeah

[01:24:02] yeah

[01:24:05] what would we have a lot fun it was it was surprisingly for sunday it was still very lively

[01:24:12] like it wasn't super crowded and everyone was so nice yeah um and it completely

[01:24:18] saved my opinion on conventions

[01:24:22] well and I mean I honestly I take that in my boss's like

[01:24:26] it I feel like they know what they did was bad they know that wasn't I hope I hope so

[01:24:32] I hope so because I'm going this weekend so I'll be able to not this weekend end of the month so

[01:24:37] at the end of the month I'll be able to give you a retrospective on what happened if I do

[01:24:41] if I don't go I'm still not 100% sure yet or no yeah well I can still give my retrospective true

[01:24:47] we can still podcast about you can just interview me about everything I did in my cosplay

[01:24:53] because I'm going to cosplay and it worked really hard on it I'm not done with it yeah I still

[01:24:57] need to finish it hi bill is this very loud a little

[01:25:04] well two damn bad I'm podcasting like this for the rest of

[01:25:08] lovely um so yeah um blue dot blue dot blue dot

[01:25:14] I'm getting a copy right.

[01:25:17] Talk to that.

[01:25:18] I mean, it is green.

[01:25:20] Yeah, but retro was great as always.

[01:25:25] It's funny because there's not a whole lot to say about retro worlds a lot of the time

[01:25:28] because nothing like that happens or there's no real insanity that happens other than

[01:25:34] the we'll mention this again at the next iteration, but the speaker in the convention hall

[01:25:40] is so fucking loud.

[01:25:42] It's like it sends chills through your body.

[01:25:45] Yeah, loud it is.

[01:25:46] It's like scares you.

[01:25:48] Especially whenever we get there early because we always get the early access and early

[01:25:53] access is great because you get to go on the convention floor for like 20 like an

[01:25:56] hour earlier.

[01:25:57] Yeah, no one's there.

[01:25:59] Yeah, it's super empty and you just like you get to enjoy like the freedom verb it.

[01:26:04] But eventually they set the mic off and you're like, Jesus, it's loud.

[01:26:07] You're like, but yeah, retro world was great.

[01:26:11] As always, then we went to Rhode Island, Comic Con.

[01:26:15] Yeah, that was our first time going to that.

[01:26:18] We didn't possibly for that one either.

[01:26:20] So since anime Boston, we did not cosplay.

[01:26:23] We wanted some friends friend Ben again.

[01:26:26] Yes, hi, Ben and sunny.

[01:26:29] Yes, hi, sunny.

[01:26:31] But that is a big.

[01:26:33] Hi, how are you?

[01:26:37] Good.

[01:26:38] Good.

[01:26:39] I don't know where.

[01:26:41] Are you regretting your decisions of having a sister?

[01:26:46] I had no control in that, man.

[01:26:48] I know I was the mistake.

[01:26:50] You don't ever.

[01:26:51] Shut it.

[01:26:52] Rhode Island Comic Con was pretty fun though.

[01:26:56] That was the first time we had went to that one.

[01:26:59] It was mostly chill.

[01:27:00] It was in that the Rhode Island convention center which you had many an iris.

[01:27:05] Your safe Patrick's Daycraft and oh my god.

[01:27:08] Yeah, that's that also really killed me.

[01:27:10] Yeah, so forever that convention hall was always where the regional competition for New

[01:27:17] England, Irish dancers were it was always the Rhode Island convention center.

[01:27:21] So all my memories really of that place were just people in sparkly dresses and wigs

[01:27:25] and like stress.

[01:27:26] It was kind of nice to go and not have that but I also kind of missed a little bit which

[01:27:32] is probably why I'm back to square one.

[01:27:36] Even though the one I went to.

[01:27:38] But it's funny because that was the opposite because the one I went to last year is

[01:27:42] at the same place, Connecticut and in retro world is that.

[01:27:47] So it's small world no matter what I guess like the the ending words are convention centers

[01:27:55] hold many different events from dance competitions to weave shit and gaming conventions.

[01:28:03] Yes.

[01:28:05] But yeah, I was very funny being there and not like it just that place just always in

[01:28:11] my head is just dance memories.

[01:28:14] The vibe at that one was pretty good.

[01:28:16] I liked it.

[01:28:18] We went on Sunday.

[01:28:19] And I got a bunch of good figures.

[01:28:22] You did you go to.

[01:28:24] Sorry, I thought I killed movie.

[01:28:27] I did.

[01:28:29] The vibe was pretty good.

[01:28:31] You bought a bunch of figures.

[01:28:32] I bought a ton of art and key jins.

[01:28:34] Yeah, I got a bunch of one piece figures.

[01:28:36] And I see most of my key jins back there.

[01:28:39] Yes.

[01:28:40] I was just kidding.

[01:28:42] Okay, man, who is just holding a loopy doll?

[01:28:45] No, it's not doll.

[01:28:48] It's one of those like little mini Lego figurines that you like build.

[01:28:52] This is chopper.

[01:28:53] This is Tony Tony chopper.

[01:28:56] Don't disrespect my little boy.

[01:28:59] My little Tony don't need to.

[01:29:01] The fuck did you just say?

[01:29:02] I said, I'm just waiting for you to drop it by accident.

[01:29:06] I would never drop him.

[01:29:08] He is my son.

[01:29:09] Like you dropped him.

[01:29:11] No, I didn't drop him from a part.

[01:29:15] Did you see a nose bubble?

[01:29:18] No.

[01:29:18] Because I felt one.

[01:29:19] Ew, I'm so sorry if anyone saw that.

[01:29:22] My nose is running.

[01:29:23] I should grab a tissue.

[01:29:24] But I don't know if I have any.

[01:29:27] No.

[01:29:30] Did you just kill chopper?

[01:29:31] No, I killed the face.

[01:29:34] I do need to blow my nose.

[01:29:35] I'm going to just speak for a bit.

[01:29:38] I can't blow my nose.

[01:29:39] I'm sorry.

[01:29:40] Speak.

[01:29:41] Speak.

[01:29:43] Well, anyways, yes.

[01:29:45] So we had done, we had done retro world.

[01:29:48] I'm not retro world.

[01:29:49] We had done a road out.

[01:29:51] Oh my god, we heard that.

[01:29:55] Oh no.

[01:29:56] She's going to be so embarrassed.

[01:29:59] I'm not even going to mention it.

[01:30:00] I'll leave him that in as a secret.

[01:30:04] Yeah, I'm completely lost now.

[01:30:09] Oh, she's got a cat.

[01:30:12] What is yet even happening now?

[01:30:20] What?

[01:30:21] A lot of things just happened.

[01:30:24] I had to blow my nose.

[01:30:26] Yeah, I'm aware.

[01:30:28] What?

[01:30:29] What, you're just acting like nothing happened.

[01:30:32] You have killing now.

[01:30:34] No, I don't.

[01:30:35] Oh, you're talking about.

[01:30:37] Oh wait, this is going on YouTube.

[01:30:38] She.

[01:30:39] Yeah.

[01:30:40] Look at their little Easter bow tie.

[01:30:44] We're back to the big bow ties.

[01:30:46] Look at that.

[01:30:46] Oh, so it's going to be gross and covered in.

[01:30:49] No.

[01:30:50] What do you have to say?

[01:30:53] She's not.

[01:30:56] She's playing.

[01:30:59] She's being a deflating balloon again.

[01:31:03] It looks angry.

[01:31:04] She's happy.

[01:31:06] She looks pretty angry.

[01:31:09] Oh, yeah, she's totally happy.

[01:31:16] But anyways, yes.

[01:31:17] So Rhode Island Comic-Con.

[01:31:19] It was great.

[01:31:21] Yeah, we got a bunch of fun, good stuff there.

[01:31:23] Yeah, because I was in my prime figure collecting

[01:31:26] at this point and we didn't cosplay.

[01:31:29] So we didn't have to worry about photos or anything.

[01:31:34] Yeah.

[01:31:36] What did we after that was Connecticut, right?

[01:31:40] Yeah.

[01:31:41] Yeah, with Sunny.

[01:31:43] Yeah, well, so we went both days.

[01:31:45] Yeah, we did.

[01:31:47] And my god, the amount of people at Connecticut.

[01:31:51] Yeah.

[01:31:51] And we went the Saturday in the Sunday, which was our first time

[01:31:54] going to multiple days on a convention.

[01:31:57] We'd never done that before.

[01:32:00] So the first day I cosplayed as Nufi

[01:32:02] and I had a great interaction with someone

[01:32:04] as soon as I walked in, another Nufi pointed at me,

[01:32:08] walked over to me, and handed me one of those sticky hands.

[01:32:13] I said it's yours now.

[01:32:16] The stretchy hand that you find on the ceiling

[01:32:18] in like its roast.

[01:32:20] Yes.

[01:32:20] And now, oh, she's his.

[01:32:28] Yeah.

[01:32:30] I think she wants to be put down.

[01:32:32] No, she doesn't know.

[01:32:35] She loves living.

[01:32:40] She loves me.

[01:32:41] Anyways, keep talking, Nufi.

[01:32:44] I'm just waiting for her to rip your face off.

[01:32:46] No, she's happy.

[01:32:48] She's happy.

[01:32:50] Totally happy.

[01:32:58] She wants to be let go.

[01:33:03] She's done with you.

[01:33:05] So nasty.

[01:33:07] Oh, she's down.

[01:33:08] Yeah.

[01:33:09] Oh, yeah.

[01:33:11] Connecticut was fun, although there

[01:33:14] was a moment where I thought you were going to punch somebody.

[01:33:17] Wait, why?

[01:33:19] Do you remember we were talking to that one artist

[01:33:21] and the guy legit came in and just like creep shot it

[01:33:25] like the photos and walked off, as we were talking.

[01:33:28] Oh, yeah.

[01:33:29] And your face was like, you wanted to hit him.

[01:33:33] I could tell.

[01:33:35] Well, it's again, I already said my speech,

[01:33:37] but you're just an asshole if you do that.

[01:33:40] I'm sorry.

[01:33:41] My favorite was when he did can't we were

[01:33:45] because we were talking to the artist

[01:33:47] because I bought something from them.

[01:33:49] And like we were talking because there was no one in line.

[01:33:51] And literally that happened during our conversation.

[01:33:54] And I remember we just kind of paused and I just went,

[01:33:56] that was subtle.

[01:33:57] And the artist went, yep, and just kind of rolled their eyes

[01:34:00] and just kind of like moved on from it.

[01:34:02] But I just remember it was like, wow, people do not care.

[01:34:07] And it's yeah, but like that shows they do not like you doing

[01:34:11] that so don't do it.

[01:34:13] You know what the worst part to is like that was probably

[01:34:15] the shittiest fucking photo.

[01:34:17] Like because he just like came in was like,

[01:34:19] and just walked off.

[01:34:19] And I'm like, yeah, like what were you even accomplishing there?

[01:34:23] Unless he was taking a picture of the vendor,

[01:34:26] which is even weirder.

[01:34:27] No, yeah.

[01:34:28] Because I mean, she was, she was pretty attractive.

[01:34:31] I'm not going to lie.

[01:34:31] So you never know.

[01:34:38] But yeah, it was kind of the same thing.

[01:34:40] I did notice though, like this was kind

[01:34:42] of the point where conventions I was really noticing

[01:34:45] the understaffing issue that was happening.

[01:34:48] Because the line getting into Connecticut.

[01:34:52] Well, also it was just a bigger event.

[01:34:56] I mean more the truth is to there's understaffing

[01:34:59] but also just anime gaming everything.

[01:35:03] There's just more and more people getting into it.

[01:35:05] And like you'll see people bring their kids and stuff to it

[01:35:08] like every being a family event.

[01:35:12] So, you know, I think it's a little bit of like yes,

[01:35:15] there was probably some understaffing

[01:35:16] but also there's just more people that want to go now.

[01:35:20] But I don't, I think people were a little dramatic

[01:35:24] about the weight.

[01:35:25] They were dramatic day two.

[01:35:28] Day one not so much.

[01:35:30] But day one you expected, you know?

[01:35:33] Well, that's the thing.

[01:35:34] I think that's part of why people were so angry.

[01:35:37] Day two is like they wanted, yeah, it was kind of bad.

[01:35:41] But I mean, we got through it day two.

[01:35:43] Oh people were mad.

[01:35:44] But even then I, I've said worse.

[01:35:49] Like I don't think it was that bad.

[01:35:52] I think a lot of it too is just the way

[01:35:53] that Connecticut and does their queuing in

[01:35:56] isn't the most efficient.

[01:35:57] Well, it's in the garage and in the summer it's hot.

[01:36:01] Well, it's that but it's also like when you finally

[01:36:03] do get into the building they have like one line

[01:36:06] and like everyone's crammed at this one

[01:36:08] like kind of like bottleneck.

[01:36:10] And it's just not very efficiently laid out.

[01:36:14] I think it's because they go into that side door

[01:36:16] they should really go in through the other side.

[01:36:19] Yeah, and cue people inside.

[01:36:20] Yeah, cause there's all that space there

[01:36:22] that they don't use.

[01:36:23] Yeah, I don't know.

[01:36:25] Well, I think part of that to you is

[01:36:28] no way they weren't doing a separate convention

[01:36:29] at the same time.

[01:36:30] No, I don't want it.

[01:36:31] Yeah, the, the, it's just their setup is weird.

[01:36:33] I get it, but granted that they were understaffed.

[01:36:36] So I guess they probably just didn't have the staff.

[01:36:38] Yeah, and I mean like I give their queuing a break to you

[01:36:42] because I mean they do have to like how they have to queue it

[01:36:45] because you do have to walk from a garage

[01:36:47] to an active like driving area.

[01:36:51] So you do have to it cues and like big chunks

[01:36:54] and there's more it feels like there's more waiting time

[01:36:57] because of that, but it's just kind of how the garage is set up.

[01:37:00] Yeah.

[01:37:03] Other than that though getting in was fine.

[01:37:04] A little crowded, but not super bad.

[01:37:07] Honestly, most of our fun though was on day two

[01:37:09] when we had a sunny with us.

[01:37:12] Yeah, a lot of yeah.

[01:37:14] That's when we watched the cosplay wrestling.

[01:37:16] Yeah, that was really fun

[01:37:18] and I would definitely do that again next year too.

[01:37:22] I get to look into that because I've seen the

[01:37:24] you're gonna try?

[01:37:25] No, no.

[01:37:26] You're gonna, I think you should do it.

[01:37:28] You should have seen it.

[01:37:29] Alex, those are staged.

[01:37:30] Those are some stage.

[01:37:31] I know you could train for it

[01:37:32] and then you could become the stage fighter.

[01:37:35] You could be a gumbah and get stopped.

[01:37:40] Not good.

[01:37:41] Can you cosplay as a gumbah?

[01:37:43] No.

[01:37:44] And can I cosplay as Mario?

[01:37:46] I'll cosplay as a gumbah, but it'll be a Mario Brothers movie

[01:37:49] gumbah.

[01:37:50] No, no, no, no, that's not a gumbah.

[01:37:55] No.

[01:37:56] Can you be an actual gumbah?

[01:37:59] Sir, the gumbahs are dancing again.

[01:38:00] I'll be crowbaz.

[01:38:03] Didn't we decide that might not be good?

[01:38:05] Yeah, not only decide that was a bad idea.

[01:38:08] That it could not go on.

[01:38:10] It's hard to do anything, but you know.

[01:38:13] Yeah, it's harder to talk about the most recent

[01:38:17] conventions will be literally just talked about them

[01:38:19] not too long ago.

[01:38:20] Yeah.

[01:38:20] What was the last one?

[01:38:22] It was retro world.

[01:38:23] Retro world.

[01:38:24] I just listened to our retro world podcast.

[01:38:26] What job?

[01:38:27] Josh, we met Kevin there.

[01:38:29] And then go tell Josh that the Tari Jaguar is better

[01:38:32] than the N64.

[01:38:33] Everyone just go spam his latest whatever.

[01:38:37] Go spam discord channel and just say,

[01:38:40] N64 sucks Jaguar forever peace out.

[01:38:44] Come on, come on.

[01:38:45] You're in his discord.

[01:38:46] You could do it.

[01:38:47] I'll start it.

[01:38:48] I'll tell him the blue sucks.

[01:38:50] No, don't do that.

[01:38:51] I can't, I'm kidding.

[01:38:55] Well is the joke we had throughout that entire episode?

[01:38:58] It was a barely newer.

[01:39:00] That was the whole convention.

[01:39:05] Yeah, and plan B jokes.

[01:39:07] Lots of plan B.

[01:39:08] We didn't know we got pregnant don't work.

[01:39:11] No one got pregnant except for the Guma.

[01:39:14] What?

[01:39:15] What?

[01:39:16] I don't even know where that came from.

[01:39:19] I barely know.

[01:39:22] That was a great good to I recommend watching listening to our

[01:39:26] episode.

[01:39:27] That was a great.

[01:39:28] Getting to meet, getting to meet Josh and person was great.

[01:39:31] We got to meet Kevin, a sticker met in person.

[01:39:34] Yeah, I'll never want to meet this person again because he figured out who we really are

[01:39:38] and now he's scared.

[01:39:39] It's okay, Josh.

[01:39:40] You don't, I understand.

[01:39:43] You can tell the truth but Kropus is still my man and you just respected him.

[01:39:48] I'll fucking give you.

[01:39:51] What?

[01:39:52] I'm not sure if you bought him a can of beans.

[01:39:56] I just want to know.

[01:39:57] Oh, that was the time.

[01:39:59] I was disappointed when he didn't keep it on stage during his prison.

[01:40:03] Yeah, during his panel.

[01:40:05] I wish he kept it because I told him,

[01:40:07] or it was like, if anyone disrespects you, how could I can't be?

[01:40:13] Yeah, I did me did me like, got a rest and he's like, what?

[01:40:18] He told me.

[01:40:19] You know, he's been like, I mean.

[01:40:26] Yeah, Josh to watch this episode for the last like 10 minutes of it.

[01:40:33] Yeah, I don't want to put him through the misery of the first half of this.

[01:40:38] Yeah, that's what I was just like skip to skip to one hour 40 minutes.

[01:40:43] Other than that though, the only other convention I went to was.

[01:40:47] I mean, you went to Rhode Island again.

[01:40:49] I couldn't go.

[01:40:50] Yeah, I want to Rhode Island by myself on this Saturday.

[01:40:54] I want to say it was fine.

[01:40:57] It was just it wasn't as fun as the first time because it was made more.

[01:41:01] It was way more crowded than it was the first time.

[01:41:04] Also, there was just other stuff going on that made it awkward.

[01:41:09] Yeah, that was there was a bit of an.

[01:41:11] In a situation I will get it to.

[01:41:13] Yeah, I would put a little bit of that probably made it not as fun to just.

[01:41:18] Yeah, I will say though, you wrote Island again.

[01:41:23] Well, I thought to go to the Rhode Island anime con.

[01:41:25] I'd like to do that one.

[01:41:27] I will say one thing I really did enjoy the was I bought the because I was like last minute on those tickets.

[01:41:33] I ended up buying like the VIP back in by mistake.

[01:41:36] But it ended up being really nice because like there was a line for Rhode Island confidence insanity.

[01:41:42] Like I it was literally like.

[01:41:45] I swear a mile away from the actual convention center.

[01:41:49] Because I had will call though and the early access of the IP status.

[01:41:54] I literally just walked right to will call which is right at the convention center.

[01:41:57] And when I was in there, I was like so what I have VIP.

[01:41:59] What does it mean?

[01:42:00] She's like, oh, you get to go in early.

[01:42:02] The gates right there.

[01:42:03] And there was no line.

[01:42:04] And I was just like.

[01:42:05] Walked in.

[01:42:06] I just walked right in.

[01:42:08] And I got to like I got free reign of the convention center basically like me and like the other like handful of VIP people for like a good hour before everyone started filing in.

[01:42:19] So I got to basically get through the.

[01:42:22] The vendor section into everything.

[01:42:26] It was fun though.

[01:42:27] That was fun.

[01:42:28] It got very overcrowded though.

[01:42:30] There was legit a point where I couldn't go anywhere because I was surrounded by people.

[01:42:36] Wow.

[01:42:37] And then we mean we all need Ben and his brother all left and we chilled at his brothers condo for a bit.

[01:42:47] Nice.

[01:42:48] That was nice.

[01:42:49] Condo.

[01:42:50] And yeah, that's the most recent convention as of now.

[01:42:53] Yeah.

[01:42:54] And I'll be updating shortly because off another one at the end of this month it may be bill.

[01:42:59] If we both go we'll definitely do an episode.

[01:43:01] I am still 50 50 on that.

[01:43:04] What do I want regardless?

[01:43:05] I'm going all out from my cosplay so I'm going to talk about it.

[01:43:10] So we're doing one.

[01:43:11] What are you like?

[01:43:12] You don't know what?

[01:43:13] What we have.

[01:43:14] I have to go solo.

[01:43:15] It's the last week in a match.

[01:43:17] Oh, same.

[01:43:18] The Easter weekend.

[01:43:19] Yes.

[01:43:20] I didn't realize that when I bought the tickets but it's a little too late.

[01:43:26] Okay.

[01:43:27] So I guess everyone here already, you know,

[01:43:30] you should eat shit off the floor.

[01:43:33] Sorry.

[01:43:34] But yeah.

[01:43:35] Don't eat shit off the floor.
