[00:00:00] Like he orders like this like nice fancy limousine and she's like, no, I'd rather walk.

[00:00:10] He's like, what?

[00:00:11] Oh, and like it's funny because he's like, talking, he's like, I have like 300, 82 different

[00:00:16] solutions for the problem.

[00:00:18] And she's like, I don't want to go on the limousine.

[00:00:20] He's like, oh no, only 62.

[00:00:22] Like all of them failed because they involved going in the limos.

[00:00:26] Yeah. Hey guys, I'm Bill, a one-time Instagram blogger and now a podcaster. And I'm Alex, the chaotic neutral. And together we are the Gaming and Collecting Podcast. A brother-sister duo. That talks about gaming. And also anime. And don't forget the collecting, here, sometimes.

[00:01:41] I forget it. We're just in the Staltzer Podcast at this point.

[00:01:44] But anyways guys, thanks for joining us as we discuss the games that Shave does. This is this podcast. So that's that's a good sign. That is good. That is good. I'm going to not as irritated. It's not good to be irritated. What's drinking bill? Stella Taurus. Artoir. I don't think I'm still a a to a to a. Oh, you're saying that you are using funny.

[00:03:02] I was talking to my co-worker, Sue, and she,

[00:04:05] I'm a failure. I'm a failure to come. Sorry. Yeah.

[00:04:09] Yeah, it's been a it's been quite a week though. I'm just tired trying to get through.

[00:04:12] Yeah, it has been quite a week.

[00:04:14] Um, I'm very glad it's over.

[00:04:17] It's been.

[00:04:19] There's been ups and downs, but I there's good things coming in the future is all I can say.

[00:04:25] So yeah, yeah.

[00:05:20] What are they?

[00:05:24] Yeah, so I've already read Shane's, I'm in volume 14.

[00:05:26] Wow. It's very interesting reading that now,

[00:05:28] because after like, especially just because like the,

[00:05:32] part two is just so tonally different from part one.

[00:05:34] It's very interesting to read now.

[00:05:37] That's fine.

[00:05:38] I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna say too much,

[00:05:40] just to avoid spoilers.

[00:05:41] No spoilers.

[00:05:43] I haven't gotten caught up yet.

[00:05:45] So I can't have any spoiling, boilies.

[00:05:48] Yeah. say hi physically can't yeah you can that's no I stop try try try right now try right now and I won't bring it up again if you genuinely try I won't keep bugging you's? So anime swap, everyone knows it's basically, I pick a show Alex picks a show and we go. And I proved that I have great taste and Bill likes all the shows that I pick and it worked this time to you. Well, anyways, so I pick a show Alex picks a show.

[00:08:22] The shows do not have to be similar in tone.

[00:08:24] It's legit, the whole finish by this weekend. Yeah. Um, but yeah. So this was was an interesting one because we went with 12 years again and 12

[00:09:41] years are like the best for anime swaps because you can finish them in literally

[00:09:44] like two days, sometimes one day, depending on how dedicated you are.

[00:09:47] Yeah.

[00:10:44] or 24. Either way, it was double the size of this season. And Jujutsu Kaisen was of equal length.

[00:10:46] We couldn't do them both again this time around,

[00:10:51] because Jujutsu Kaisen season two is of equal length

[00:10:55] through its first season.

[00:10:56] Spy family is a half season.

[00:10:58] We'll be getting into why as we go through it.

[00:11:01] But yeah.

[00:11:03] So yeah, Spy family season two was an interesting one,

[00:11:07] I have to. I did have a choice. But I preferred the binge watch over the watch weekly. Yeah, I mean, so the fun fact about this season

[00:12:20] the spy family was I had already read the manga like up to this point. So I already

[00:12:24] knew every. Yeah, I was basically just waiting for like certain things to be animated.

[00:13:23] He was like a master, but like with your, he can't figure it out. He can't figure your out because your is fucking insane.

[00:13:26] Not normal.

[00:13:28] Your is kind of an anomaly.

[00:13:30] Yeah.

[00:13:31] So the whole time, he's basically plans this like, because he first, when she first comes

[00:13:35] back, she's absolutely an agony and miserable.

[00:13:38] And she basically just goes right to bed and he thinks he fucked up.

[00:13:41] So he plans out this elaborate date for them the next day.

[00:13:45] But yours still in agony and can't sit down in the whole time. At like the theater show or something and she's standing in the ground. He's like, the movie theater and she's standing and he's like, please, you know, please sit down. And she's like, no, I can't.

[00:15:01] The whole time she's like either like hunched over

[00:15:03] like holding her ass or like has the grumpiest looking face

[00:15:07] like going on. was just adorable. The best part is though, after York gets temporarily cured, she'll they have like a wonderful rest of their night and she thanks Lloyd for giving her a wonderful day. And then the toxins wear off by morning and she's miserable again. And he's so confused. Their dynamic is so fun. Yeah.

[00:16:21] It's funny how like a fake

[00:16:24] couple is one of the most wholesome

[00:16:25] couples in anime right now.

[00:16:27] Yeah. And it goes by it pretty much is over. And then we go straight back to your and Lloyd stuff because then we get like Frankie trying to impress the girl who lost her cat and your happens to find him and decides to help. And you're like somehow like gets like covered in cats and she's like spinning around in the background. Well, Frankie's

[00:17:42] trying to catch this one cat that's kind of like, organization she's working for which is interesting. You also can tell a little bit from like that conversation she has with the leader of the there's a good theory going around that Eor may have been also. There's just a lot that doesn't add up with Yor. Granted, it's mostly played for laughs. But anyways, so going to this arc,

[00:20:20] Yor gets assigned to this mission.

[00:20:22] She's essentially body guarding this family that is trying to escape.

[00:21:22] I just, okay, I have to go with her now. And the best part is Anya's out gloating,

[00:21:24] saying this is the great, oh, actually this comes later.

[00:21:26] I'll say that.

[00:21:27] Yeah.

[00:21:28] So they go on the cruise and yours,

[00:21:31] yours kind of disappointed that she won't be able

[00:21:33] to spend time with the family

[00:21:34] because she'll be working, quote unquote,

[00:21:36] working for the government as her alibi is.

[00:21:40] And Lloyd, this is actually interesting

[00:21:42] because it's one of the few times we get to see Lloyd,

[00:21:43] it's just Lloyd and not as Twilight.

[00:21:45] Yeah.

[00:21:46] And I will say, like, kind of, but I'm, I saw this like right away. The, the, the Lorelai is very clearly based on the Queen Mary to, I mean, not the queen Elizabeth to, which was made in the 60s, but I believe she has her like 80s refit. So it's like vaguely like

[00:23:03] between the 60s and the 80s when spy family takes place. of assassins and like on like yours kind of like trying not to like break her cover. So then Anya comes out of nowhere and makes it look like it's like a stage performance. So no one. Oh, yeah. Like in circles like she's like, wow, the song is which that is funny too of like on you like genuinely trying to help at times, but then like at one point she's like trying

[00:24:21] to help, but like she just keeps getting distracted.

[00:24:24] Like she starts playing mini golf.

[00:24:26] Like she's trying to do stuff. so that she can get separated from Lloyd temporarily. And then like she immediately ditches the day care lady. And then we'll get to what happens later, but the biggest part of this entire thing is the big climactic fight between your and all the assassins. And this is like, this goes on for like quite a while. And like your goes through some shit.

[00:25:40] Yeah.

[00:25:41] I think my favorite part of that fight though

[00:25:43] is when like she's just being down the assassins She kind of has to be like, no, I'm making it back to them. I promise that I'm going to spend time with them on this trip. So I'm going to do this. And then she ends up kicking ass. It also is interesting because this season does a few things that some people might miss because they're too busy

[00:27:00] to get to the next episode.

[00:27:02] A couple of the episodes have after-credits scenes.

[00:27:06] And you can easily miss these if you're not paying attention. with a little bit of help from Anya. She throws up one of her knives popular and yours like, where did this come from? And then it is like kind of a nice scene. Like she's helping in the only way she can. She's like, no, no, she just wants to help her mom and it is really sweet. Like dangerous. Shouldn't do that Anya, but very sweet. And then the best part is after like it all gets

[00:28:20] taken care of and everything starts going back to normal. the cruise ship arc where like, your gets to spend a day with Lloyd and Anya. And it's funny because she's in, they want to go to the beach, but yours like, I can't go to the beach cause I have a massive stab. So, but it's, but instead she wears a dive suit.

[00:29:41] So it's not noticeable.

[00:29:42] And they went snorkeling. So it was fine.

[00:29:43] But she almost killed on in the surfboarding.

[00:29:46] Yep.

[00:30:42] like she is just simping over Lloyd. It's so bad.

[00:30:44] And it gets to the point where she's like so embarrassed

[00:30:48] by being near him that like your thing, she's sick

[00:30:51] and freaks out and rushes her to the hospital,

[00:30:54] runs out of the house carrying her.

[00:30:56] And there's a point where she gets hit by a fucking car,

[00:31:01] flies through the air and then just keeps running,

[00:31:03] catches Becky and she's like,

[00:31:05] she's like, don't worry, you're gonna be okay.

[00:31:06] And then Becky's like, and we'll get rid of him insane yeah but it climaxes with this really awesome moment where Bond like runs into a burning building to save a puppy and Lloyd like is massively impressed he's very impressed that like Bond knew all

[00:32:21] these things and he's like he gets them all tiny and on you just like horrified when she sees him And yours like oh that always happens he'll be fine eventually

[00:33:47] But it is cute when Anya gives them like the pretend Stella's the origami Stella's at the end It's like they're making coffee and like doing all this crazy shit and it's like flying all over the place and stuff. Sorry. I was looking up photos for season two and then it came out with the picture of your guy. Oh yeah, they're great things. I love that. I thought the animation was better this season.

[00:35:01] I think they switched over to Cloverworks for the animation this time around and it looks

[00:35:05] very nice. Your assassin on a boat trying to balance her job versus her family that like it was so interesting And maybe I went back and actually I re-watched season one And I was just like wow like this show is definitely really good I'm really looking forward to see more of what they do because I feel like there's still so many unanswered questions

[00:36:20] Like I want no more about Lloyd

[00:36:22] I want to know even more about your and then at the same time especially if they're going back and rewatching season one, like and just seeing like Damien, like how he's like, it is really like sad. He's another character that there's a lot to unpack. Basically, there's a lot of these characters are all very surprisingly complex. No, yeah, I like, I feel like it's gonna take a bit to flush any of them out, but I'm looking forward

[00:37:42] to a season three in the movie.

[00:37:44] I'm looking forward to it.

[00:37:45] Movie for sure, season three issue was there was a little bit of inconsistency with the whole, like, the way it was structured, which I didn't mind, but at the same time, it could have been a little better because there's one main plot arc, which is the cruise arc. And then the rest is just kind of extras

[00:39:01] that they just stuck on the ends, which is fine.

[00:39:04] It just, the flow was a little weird

[00:39:06] because I'll admit, like'm like, you're going to get that same vibe you got from Sword Hero, where you just hated everyone. And did you get that vibe?

[00:40:20] Yeah.

[00:40:21] Text you in episode one, when I watched episode when I texted you, I was like,

[00:40:26] I'm like, wow, everyone in one to ish, but it's like post like standardization.

[00:41:40] Yeah, it's interesting because I'm currently watching Veroni

[00:41:43] Kenshin at the same time.

[00:41:44] And that also takes place in like the same era, but it was a life has not been easy. So basically to kind of start out, you're kind of introduced to Mio. And introduced to Mio by literally her who you find out later, her sister throws tea at her and basically makes fun of her for not being able to make tea. Yeah, her sister, Kaya, big old bitch.

[00:44:05] happen which isn't any better. Yeah, it's not a they all suck that. He's also apparently worse in the light novel the anime kind of like lightened him a little

[00:44:08] bit. Yeah, so and it basically starts out we are introduced to this family and I

[00:44:18] believe it's like Mio ends up being originally engaged to a family friend

[00:44:24] that she grew up with and she really liked but of course her sister being her potential wabs. So they're basically sending him off to him, sending her off to him to basically get embarrassed and shamed and thrown out onto the street. So basically his reasoning is like, either she goes makes a fool of herself and gets kicked to the curb and he doesn't have to deal with her anymore, or she gets taken into that family. And in his eyes, probably abused more,

[00:45:41] which would is kind of what they want, as far as that is. But either way, she's been with him. But you notice, like, one thing I notice right away is like he's supposed to be like this really high ranking like member of society from a very well-off family, but he lives out in the middle of nowhere in this very modest home, which is kind of a sign right away that he's not quite what you'd expect. Yeah. And what we don't realize is that

[00:47:00] when he immediately meets like Mio,

[00:47:03] he just knows something is not right.

[00:47:06] Like just with how she acts he thought she was going to poison them, which like in the past, I guess that's happened. Well, because also like, because she is emotionally broken at this point, like she doesn't know what when he tells her to fry the food, she doesn't understand and she kind of locks up and he immediately thinks that she's doing up to up to no good., yeah. And it ends up too like after kind of him getting to know her more, he ends up kind of realizing like he ends than nothing. Yeah, they use that as just a reason to praise her. Like, it's heavily implied that if Kai had no powers as well, they would have treated

[00:51:01] her like shit as well.

[00:51:03] Yeah.

[00:51:04] But yeah, like there's a lot of like whether or not she stays and they get together or she leaves but he helps her find a better situation. His plan is to just help her at this point. It's not love yet but he has... he's interested in her essentially.

[00:52:23] Like it's not like the previous fiancees the flashbacks to her life with the semor. Is it really it also like, because at first you don't understand the full extent of the abuse, but then like as you're going on and learning more about what she went through, like it's heartbreaking to see like just how someone can and then again, again, like we said,

[00:53:41] it's a great portrayal of like what abuse does to a person and what it's actually like.

[00:54:44] like as much as like, um, Hiyoka thinks she needs help as well.

[00:54:48] So they end up going shopping and then of course you run into the little bitch at Kaya, which this is the scene that like made me end up watching the

[00:54:54] show because I was like, why is this girl so mean?

[00:54:57] And I saw a clip on like reels or something and she ends up just berating

[00:55:02] me. Oh, and what happens is like they her to knock it off, but he's too much of a doormat to really do anything at this time. Yeah. And then of course Yuri returns. And did you catch like when Yuri like talks to Kaya for the first time, her like demeanor is much more like guarded?

[00:56:23] Yeah.

[00:56:26] And they whole like, Kaya makes some snide comment anybody and just goes to her room. Yeah. Eventually though, she does start making the cord because basically she's come to the decision that she's gonna just tell them everything and then give them the cord and then she assumes get kicked out and be on her way. Yeah. Which she eventually gives him the cord and tells him her entire thing

[00:57:43] and he basically, well, I don't tell her

[00:57:45] like you don't have to leave. Um, we also get, he was introduced earlier, but he is one of his prominent scenes there as he drives her home. We get one of his one of a Yoka's co-workers, Godot, who is one of the best characters in the show. Yeah, he's so silly. He's basically the he's the stereotypical like coworker that messes with his boss, but

[00:59:03] is like secretly a really good guy. basically realize shit, this could be really bad for us. Yeah, like we fucked up. Yeah, meanwhile, Nikaya sees, basically finds out who he is and gets, basically gets, gets shells, but also gets, yeah, she also gets these thoughts put in her head by a, By her mother.

[01:00:20] Well, it's more Koji's dad.

[01:00:22] Yeah, well, yeah, but her mother is a big part of it too,

[01:00:26] because the whole plot is both of them. Coji's dad sends out these guys to abduct her. But during this, she was going to go visit Kyokka at work and bring him his lunch. But in the process, she got a brand new ouch to carry things in, but she forgot to switch over her little amulet. Well, because she got a brand new outfit and she got a pouch that matched it,

[01:01:42] and she forgot to bring the amulet.

[01:01:44] It switched them.

[01:01:45] We find out that amulet was actually to protect her.

[01:01:48] Yeah. like a bee bee. I'll be using her even more like I think they were you know like a knife or something and like cutting her Mono cutting. Well, they were threatening to cut her a cut up or kimono because it was nice and she didn't deserve nice things and like they cut it once and then of course the other dad gets up and decides to use fucking fire in a very flammable because Japanese houses are very Whad- Yes. Yeah, and basically sets the entire estate on fire because he's being reckless with his fire powers Which is hilarious because like

[01:04:22] Mio's dad. It's this point still has no fucking idea just yells at her and drags around in the burning building because she would have stayed. Basically his response was like, I despise you, but I know that Mio will grieve over you for whatever reason. So I'm going to get you out of here.

[01:05:41] Because she's such a better person.

[01:05:45] But they end up going back. kind of it's almost like a healing moment for me. Like she wants to kind of look at it, but it's like a good thing because she also wanted to see that she wants to see the tree. So one of the things that it was really sad, another really sad thing too, you see the to that. Like, he accepts the fact that she doesn't love them. Yeah. And I think he has to accept that like he never truly saw her at her happiness. And like, he wants her to just be who she is

[01:08:20] now, which is great. Well, there there's like a point early

[01:08:24] on where he like was planning on committing a double suicide impression as his fiance, which is sweet. Yeah, but there's like a whole training montage, but then we start finding out that like, you know, those powers are coming, are starting. Well, she's having problems sleeping. Like she's unable to sleep without like, She's fainting in real life. Like she's not eating properly.

[01:09:41] And it's like taking a toll at her health.

[01:09:44] Yeah.

[01:09:44] And they think it's because she's training to

[01:09:46] practicing to her. who were like, her powers are basically being unsealed. Like her mother, we find out, her mother sealed them away so that in a way, she did it to protect her, but at the same time also. Yeah, cause we find out, we find out later on that her mother was sickly and like, basically like, she was, wasn't destined to live long to begin with. Yeah.

[01:11:00] And she couldn't protect her.

[01:11:03] Well, what happened was essentially like,

[01:11:06] they, the Usova family was in serious debt Oh yeah, it definitely is. And I mean, it really just shows her mother sealed basically the powers away because she knew that if she did not, I mean what they were going to have. They were going to fall into the long hands. No, yeah. Like she would live her life terribly, like being forced to marry someone she didn't love

[01:12:20] and just all that stuff.

[01:12:22] So she ends up sealing them, but unfortunately it also had the downside of like,

[01:12:26] it also made her, but at the same time, she loves him. She wants to engage. She doesn't want to leave him and at the same time, at the same time, though, they had previously had a fight where like he, yeah, he rose his voice at her and basically like really hurt her, like emotionally. Yeah.

[01:13:40] Cause she's fragile.

[01:13:41] He immediately regretted it, but it's still, it did enough to like damage her

[01:13:45] again.

[01:13:46] It made her feel like, okay, she learns about her mother more. I'm not going to lie though. She learned about her family. This entire scene though completely. I was taken out of it for one reason. What? Mio's grandfather is voiced by Dr. Eggman and I could not unhear it.

[01:15:02] I could not unhear it.

[01:15:03] I didn't ever hear that.

[01:15:06] So I was not.

[01:15:07] I was not. Yeah, but like one of the key things that happens is that's different from the and I guess the anime does this different than the manga is a Kyoka is facing off against some of the demons and he actually gets like injured and put in a coma. Although apparently in the light novel, it's actually

[01:16:23] What's his name the guy he dueled with

[01:17:22] and then we got the portrait version of Mio who actually was very abrasive.

[01:17:24] And she was basically the representation of all Mio's trauma.

[01:17:28] No, I'm from abuse.

[01:17:30] She had to face off, essentially.

[01:17:34] I'm sitting here and I'm here and I'll face myself from Persona 4,

[01:17:37] just playing in the background.

[01:17:39] It's Tilly.

[01:17:43] Tilly's here. She she ends up going back. I'm sorry. I'm very shocked right now because there's but whole right in my face. If we were to share the video version, you'd get to see all the wonderful things that are happening right now. Oh, wonderful. Yep there's still so much more, and I feel like I didn't do the best explaining this. I should have rewatched it sooner, but we kind of just did this super quickly. I really just watched it, so I have it. No, yeah, and Bill has way more on his brain,

[01:20:20] but it's definitely a great series.

[01:20:22] Like you love the characters.

[01:20:24] Like you love the main characters.

[01:20:27] Well, you love the, like all, I don't know. I just, I really like the story. And I like haven't been able to get into like a romance or like a drama in a while. And like this one like it got me in and I was so, I just loved it that I was watching it every single week. And I think a lot of it was like, I know a lot of fruit baskets vibes from this.

[01:21:40] No, yeah, there's definitely I'd say fruit baskets vibes

[01:21:42] in this.

[01:21:43] I mean, like it's painful, like you like. No, Kaya. Yeah, that bitch. Kaya can eat some shit and so can her mom. Her mom also. They're in their their in exile and they're their their modest country home up in the north. Good. They deserve. I hope they're never seen again.

[01:23:02] I hope so too.

[01:23:02] I hope we never have to see them.

[01:23:04] Because I was doing some research like I always do.

[01:23:06] And apparently in the light novel, like her dad just thought things through better. I think he. Like so many of these problems he did, because he did not think anything through and just like wanted to get through it. It's more he just, he wanted money and he wanted power.

[01:24:20] And he got that by, you know, potentially doing that,

[01:24:22] but then didn't work out for him.
