[00:03:11] Now, as the year winds down and the days grow shorter, we find ourselves once more in the embrace of winter.
[00:03:17] This season, with its chilly weather and bright holidays, is one of my personal favorites.
[00:03:22] And to honor its return, I've created the third annual winter playlist of frosty video game music
[00:03:27] featuring tracks from 22 different games that perfectly capture the icy and frosted feeling of winter.
[00:03:32] The goal with this collection of songs, like past winter mix episodes,
[00:03:36] is to explore that sound of cold with a playlist that bridges many generations of gaming soundtracks.
[00:03:41] These frosty-sounding tunes, regardless of system or composer, are excellent audio representations of the cold,
[00:03:47] thanks to sounds like chimes, bells, and other echoing tones.
[00:03:50] Like, maybe the clear, bell-like sounds will mirror the crisp air of a frosty morning,
[00:03:55] while the shimmering chimes can evoke the sparkle of ice-covered branches in the sunlight.
[00:03:59] Or maybe the echoing reverb might create the feeling of a vast, open space, much like the quiet calm of a snow-covered field.
[00:04:07] Together, these form a creatively crafted representation of winter through music,
[00:04:11] which of course is a common language across the world that we all share and enjoy.
[00:04:16] And no matter whether you've actually felt the crunch of snow under your feet, or just imagined it,
[00:04:21] we're able to understand what the concept of cold sounds like because of the brilliance of these video game composers who made these songs.
[00:04:28] So, this winter mix playlist isn't just a collection of music, it's also an invitation to create your own winter story.
[00:04:34] Whether you're out for a hike, building a snowman, or simply watching the flakes fall from the warmth of your own home,
[00:04:39] this music is meant to accompany those moments that make this season so special.
[00:04:44] When I was putting it together, I tried to imagine a journey, starting high in the mountains on a serene snowy day.
[00:04:49] With each step, the trail winds through icy forests, across frost-covered paths, and past frozen lakes.
[00:04:56] The idea was to have this music carry us along on our adventure, painting the experience and sound until we reach the base of the mountain.
[00:05:04] As we get closer to our destination, and the cold starts to fade away,
[00:05:07] we finally arrive at a place where we're welcomed with open arms.
[00:05:10] A place where friends and family have gathered to celebrate everything we've accomplished this year,
[00:05:15] and sharing the joy of being together once more.
[00:05:20] Now, I also find that same warmth in the community that we've built together as I reflect on this year of the show.
[00:05:26] Being able to share my love of video game music with all of you has been an incredible experience,
[00:05:30] and your reception and support is exactly what makes this journey so worthwhile.
[00:05:35] I've been able to make new friends, connected with some of the very composers whose work we've celebrated on this show,
[00:05:41] and most importantly, felt the support and enthusiasm of people all over the world who love video game music just as much as I do.
[00:05:49] So, I want to thank you for being part of it.
[00:05:51] I'm excited to keep this adventure going, and I can't wait to share even more of the very best video game music with you in the year ahead.
[00:05:59] Well, let's get into our winter mix.
[00:06:01] This one should be perfect whether you're in a snowy wonderland or simply feeling the chill in the air this season,
[00:06:06] because this playlist of frosty tunes is meant to keep you cozy as we welcome winter's return.
[00:06:11] So, enjoy these tunes, and I'll be back after that.
[01:06:29] All right, so that's the show. I hope you guys have enjoyed this crisp and frosty mix of video game music
[01:06:34] that's perfect for any adventure through a winter wonderland.

[01:08:10] We're going to listen to Underworld Forest from the Japanese Super Famicom game called Last
[01:08:14] Bible 3. This twinkling and grooving song by Hiroyuki Yanada is an excellent way to take us out,
[01:08:20] and I think you're really going to like it. Anyway, that's all for now. Enjoy this final song,
[01:08:25] and as always, thanks again for listening, and I'll see you guys next time. Happy holidays!
