[00:00:10] Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to another episode of the Pre-Order Bonus Podcast. I'm one of your hosts, Cameron Warren and I'm joined as always by the pixel professor Jacob Price. It's March 27th, 2025 and we're back to talk about video games. Jake, we skipped last week because I went on a trip to play Game of the Year 2024, the game of golf.
[00:00:43] Not Indiana Jones. Yes, the game of golf. Golf is an interesting game, you know, it's kind of like a roguelike. Like, every course, we talked about this before, every course is like, you play the same course that actually has almost infinite variables. So it never plays the same way twice. And it's incredibly hard. It's the most difficult game in existence. It's harder than Sekiro.
[00:01:12] It's built for suffering. Because Sekiro is predictable. Golf is not. Unless you're really good, but even then. Yeah. No, Jake, yeah, we missed a week. What are you playing now? What's up? Let's see. Finally beat Metaphor Re-Fantasio. Wow, what a journey. Yeah, expect some sort of long form write-up on that one in the future.
[00:01:41] Not necessarily the near future, but in the future. I was going to say it will be called The Length of Video Games. Reflects the length of this essay. So, let's see. I have been playing... I tried out 33 Immortals and I started Avowed. Nice. Finally. Avowed came out like nearly two months ago. Yeah.
[00:02:11] Just if people had forgotten. In two months, I feel like about 300 games have come out and they've all been 700 hours a piece. So, yeah. I mean, I didn't touch anything while I was completing Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, obviously. But Avowed is what I've been playing. And also started a little bit of Assassin's Creed Shadows. Yeah. Which so far... Is?
[00:02:40] Is kind of disappointing me. I'm going to be honest. Ooh. You know, I'm an Assassin's Creed fan. But I'm just not sure at this point if they've done enough. If they've done enough. They've done stuff. They've done good stuff. Mm-hmm. And if you like that formula, I think you're going to love this game just fine. But I just don't know if it's enough. I don't know if it was enough. They didn't shake it up quite enough.
[00:03:05] That being said, if you like this type of game, I think you're going to probably really like it. And it looks incredible visually. It's astounding. I mean, Ubisoft, between Star Wars Outlaws and Assassin's Creed Shadows, they've got the graphical chops. Yeah. Like, big time. Like, I mean, they really...
[00:03:30] They're really throwing down the ray traced lighting and reflections and beautiful environments and wind. And it's really crazy, like, how much input do they have. But that being said, I'm going to put in a few more hours and kind of see how I feel about it. I did it through the Ubisoft Plus subscription. So, we'll see what happens. Very nice. Yeah. Let's see. I've been playing a bunch of indies. As is the case, right? Let's see.
[00:03:59] I played Spilled, which is a game I kick-started. It's this tidy little game. It took me an hour to beat. It was great. Nice. You just kind of are on this boat and you clean up oil spills around this polluted water system. Oh, very nice. So, it's good. And then, I wanted to say, though, actually about Avowed. I'm really enjoying Avowed's combat system.
[00:04:25] Which, I want to say this was two major previews ago. The Avowed combat system looked a little worrisome. Or it looked a little stale, I should say. Because it wasn't, like, that bad. But it looked a little stale. But playing it now, man, it is great. You have two loadouts. You can swap them on the fly. Yeah, it's just great. And so, I've been rocking, for the most part, wand in one hand.
[00:04:54] And then, I just switched to a mace to give it a try. So, I'm pretty early on in the game. But, I don't know, man. Seems good. Yeah, I've got about six hours in Avowed. Definitely want to play more. I went the magic route. Yeah, dude. This is just, so far, it's just this, like, tight little nice RPG. Like, I can see why people were down on it. But, I think the more I play it, the more I'm like, yeah.
[00:05:24] Yeah. This is the right, you know what I mean? Like, it's not like this epic, huge, ridiculously sized, beefy, like, Boulder's Gate 3 thing. But, it doesn't need to be. Right? It's like they, it's this weird gamer headspace where our expectation, Ubisoft's doing a really good job of managing the expectations of the industry, I think. Hmm.
[00:05:51] What I mean by that is that the industry expects every AAA game to be a 90-hour monstrosity. Right. And I think Ubisoft, or excuse me, not Ubisoft. Obsidian? Obsidian is doing a really good job being like, nope, we're gonna make these nicely scoped games that are scoped appropriately, and we're just gonna do our thing. And they seem to be finding pretty good success with that.
[00:06:20] I don't think they're setting the world on fire, but I don't think they need to. I agree. And I, this actually playing through, and just a quick reminder, folks, I've really only played like an hour and a half of this. But it's making me excited for like, Outer Worlds 2. You know, it's just like, okay. This studio is just showing time and time again that they put out good games. And I'm here for it, you know. I am excited this weekend.
[00:06:46] I want to try to make some time to give Atomfall a try. Oh, that came out today, right? Came out today on Game Pass. The buzz on it hasn't been like deafening. And I think I've heard some people say, oh, it's a little too formulaic. But I don't know, man. I've seen some videos of it, and I've heard some other people's opinions that make me think, you know what, I need to give this one a solid try.
[00:07:14] Because it looks interesting. And Fallout New Vegas, like Fallout is kind of a hole in my gaming repertoire. Yeah. And so I kind of have the inkling that, you know what, maybe Atomfall is the game that will scratch that itch that will, or at least let me know if I would ever want to go back to Fallout New Vegas or Fallout 4. So I'm excited to give it a try. Nice. Yeah. I also want to try this.
[00:07:43] It's got, I did see, it got kind of middling reviews as well. But anything around that like low 80s mark, I always feel like is sort of a toss up, right? Where it usually indicates that there's a lot of people who really liked it. But then there was a bunch of people who kind of wrote it off. But that can be a sweet spot sometimes for some nice gems out there. You know what I mean? Yeah. I feel like low 80s scores, I mean, obviously still a really good score.
[00:08:13] Yeah. But whenever I see that, I kind of have a similar feeling where I'm like, you know what? I might like love this game. This might be a game I fall in love with. Yeah. You know, I need to check this out. I might love this. Another game in the 80s is the first Berserker Kazan. Yes. I actually watched a big Souls streamer play this one. And they were praising it up and down. And I was like, ooh, hold on a second. Yeah.
[00:08:42] And then that same streamer was playing this brand new game. It's coming out or it just came out. It's a Chinese Souls-like called AI Limit, I think. Interesting. And I was looking at it and it kind of has Nier vibes. But it also looked... That one I'd have to watch a little more before I make like a decision. The first Berserker Kazan, I don't have time for it right now, which kind of hurts a little bit. Yeah.
[00:09:09] But that's one that I think the first sale that goes on will probably scoop it up because the praise was so good and the gameplay that I watched was pretty good too. I played it during Steam Next Fest. It's got really, really strong mechanics. Like incredibly strong mechanics. The story is very throwaway, unfortunately. Which that, you know, it's not... It doesn't...
[00:09:36] Like Liza P, I think, was probably done the best job as one of these Souls-like of having a story that you kind of at least cared about a little bit. It had like really good world building and kind of development that way. The first Berserker Kazan, I think, doesn't do that quite as well. But the mechanics are very strong. Yeah. That was my takeaway. Yeah. And that's kind of the impression I got from this other game that I was watching, AI Limit. Like the NPCs just like kept talking. And I was like, dude, I will button mash through this dialogue.
[00:10:06] But if the gameplay... I mean, and that's the thing. Like Souls games do have really great stories. But they're obscure. And it's super easy to play a Souls game, fall in love with it, and not really understand much about what's happening. Right. So for Souls genres, there's a lot more grace and sort of forgiveness given to story. But yeah, those two, I was like, I don't know. They're looking pretty good. So I've got a bunch of games on my radar.
[00:10:35] Obviously, April is going to be huge with South of Midnight and Claire Obscure Expedition 33. Yes. I think Claire Obscure is like my next super anticipated game on my list. I agree. Yeah. That's like the one where I'm like... KCD 2 was kind of my first one. Now it's Expedition 33 is like, okay, this is the one that I'm like pining for. Yeah. I think that one could be... That one...
[00:11:03] Crazy high praise from the previews on that one. Like kind of outlandish almost. I know. It's like I'm super excited for it. But a part of me is just a little worried too because the praise has been so high. It's like, what if I hate this game? Or like, what if this game has awful performance? But whatever. We'll cross that bridge when we get to it. It'll be 22 FPS on Series X. Well, speaking of new games, Jake, we're going to take some time.
[00:11:31] We're going to take the time in this episode to take a break from our normal cadence. I think next week we'll be back with another game. Probably Kingdom Come Deliverance, right? Maybe? I'm thinking so. Yeah. But this week what we're going to do, we are days away from the Switch 2 presentation by Nintendo. So Jake and I are going to do what we always do.
[00:11:54] We're going to look into the pre-order bonus crystal ball and very, very accurately predict the future. We're going to tell you exactly what you're going to see, hear, feel, touch, and smell at this April 2nd Switch 2 presentation. Jake, go ahead and start us off. What's going to happen at this Switch 2 event from Nintendo?
[00:12:22] First off, I want to say the primary smell that I perceived from the pre-order bonus crystal ball was sweaty gamer hands. Sweaty gamer hands. Sweaty gamer hands are hands that have never once in their life had a callus. Long fingernails. They've only ever lifted the fork to the mouth and the controller to the lap.
[00:12:54] Folks, this is tongue-in-cheek. We are gamers, so we also have sweaty little gamer hands. All right, folks. Cameron and I, we decided, you know what? Let's just do this. Let's just come up with some predictions. And I would like to point out that the pre-order bonus crystal ball we bought was from the dollar store, but it cost $2 instead of $1. So this is pretty high quality. Listen, if you listen to the show for a while, you know when it comes to predictions, we never get anything right.
[00:13:24] It's just a... It is a horrible... Like, if we were gamblers, we would be broke. But we have a lot of fun doing it, you know? And that's what's important, right? That's what matters. It's the good times. It's the vibes on the journey, right? Okay, so I have six predictions. I'm going to start with my first one. And they start... Well, I don't know. This one is mild. I somewhat scaffolded them from mild to pretty outlandish.
[00:13:52] So first one is simple. Mario Kart 9 is a Switch 2 launch title, but it has zero returning tracks. Every single track is brand new. Nice. Do you think it's the Switch 2 launch title? Or are they going to pull a fast one and it's coming out like in the fall? And the Switch 2 launch title is 3-4 Switch.
[00:14:23] Or Snipperclips 3. Or whatever. No, I think... I do think it's a launch title, but with zero returning tracks. And there's only going to be like a dozen tracks. Okay, so... Okay, got you. Yeah. What's your first prediction for the Switch 2? I think that's right. First off, I think that's... I don't think that's outlandish at all.
[00:14:51] I mean, it was shown in that little clip where they showed the system. It would be insane if it's not the Switch 2 launch title. That would be insane. I do think it would be insane if they had zero returning tracks. If the Switch 2 launch title is like similar to like... I'm trying to think. What's like the worst launch lineup of all time? I think... What was...
[00:15:18] So Switch had Breath of the Wild, but then it only... It had like 1-2 Switch. It was like the other game. That's it. When it launched. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I don't think that's going to happen here. I think Nintendo has been sitting on a lot of stuff. Yeah. My first prediction for the Switch 2 event is that Nintendo is going to spend an inordinate amount of time showing off the mouse-like features of the Switch 2 moat.
[00:15:48] Like how many minutes? Internet browsing. You're going to see game functionality like using the mouse. Like someone's going to be using it like a laptop, right? Yeah. And they're going to have the Switch 2 thing like as a mouse like clicking around. Yeah. And it's going to be like outlandish. Like how much time they spent on this. Here's my follow-up question to this prediction. Is Nintendo going to launch their own web browser for the Switch?
[00:16:20] Like... The Wii browser. The Wii browser. What do they call it? What would Nintendo call their... The browser. The browser. The browser browser. Oh! Perfect, dude. And then Bowser just gives you... The browser. The browser browser. And... Oh, man. And then it's just Jack Black yelling.
[00:16:47] He's barking at you every time you search something. Don't you have this bookmarked? Oh, my gosh. Yeah, they're going to spend a lot of time on that mouse, dude. Nice. I'm telling you. That's like... What's... What... What... Do I need the mouse? You know what, though? Okay. I'm going to give them this. Listen, the Fortnite kids need the mouse. Listen. Yeah, I mean... And that's going to be the game they show off.
[00:17:14] It's going to be Fortnite or it's going to be like Counter-Strike or like COD, right? Yeah. And then... Additionally, navigating the eShop, which is the worst experience in all of humankind and should be like outlawed legally, will be a lot easier with that little mouse. That's... I'll say that. Dang. That means...
[00:17:42] I think we're sitting between five and ten minutes looking at this. Yep. 100%. That just made me realize that I was editing this list today and I cut out everything that's not like specific to a game. Okay. Here's my second prediction for the Switch 2 reveal info dump. Nintendo announces a new third-person action shooter Princess Peach game with a direct tie-in to the Super Mario Bros. 2 movie.
[00:18:12] Third person. Okay. Third person. Shooter? Action shooter Princess Peach game. Action shooter. What are we talking about? Gears of War with Princess Peach? Last of Us 3. Princess Peach and Toadette. Is this like super high fidelity graphics? Like to show off the Switch features? Yeah. This is... And it's probably some sort of Joy-Con gimmick in here. Interesting. Interesting.
[00:18:43] Hmm. I don't know if it's going to be a shooter. Princess Peach needs a slingshot. But I do think you're on the right track that there's going to be some weird off-brand Mario game at launch because there has to be, right? What if it's a third-person action Koopa Troopa shooter? Let me add to this. It's going to feature the mouse as a very prominent feature of the game.
[00:19:12] Look at FPS with the Switch 2 mouse Joy-Con. Yep. Look at this Peach third-person action shooter. Look! Use the mouse to aim. It's going to show somebody using the Switch-Con as a mouse, but like instead of it on a desk or something, it's going to be on somebody's thigh. They're just going to hold it on their own leg. Yeah. Okay.
[00:19:38] My next prediction is that we see for several minutes again, Cyberpunk 2077 and Elden Ring prominently featured as Switch 2 launch titles running at lock 60 frames. In 720p? In 720p?
[00:20:05] With ultra-performance DLSS enabled. No. So what they're going to do, here's what they're going to do. Look. They're going to go, the Switch 2 has advanced AI graphical technology. And then it's going to show their upscaler engine with Cyberpunk and Elden Ring. At a lock 60? Maybe not a lock 60.
[00:20:31] But it's going to be what they used to show. Like, hey, Switch 2. It can run modern games. We do it because we have advanced AI upscaling tech. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Yeah. Those are two good picks for that one. I feel like those are the two, like, really big, prominent, high-profile games that Nintendo is probably pining to get a share of that market on their console, which they currently don't have.
[00:21:02] I almost feel like between the two of those, Elden Ring is more of the given. Elden Ring is a given. Right? Yes. I think Cyberpunk, though, could do it for sure. All right. My next one. This one's less silly. But let's see how this one lands. The new 3D Mario platformer is a launch title that expands on the Super Bell slash cat ability
[00:21:28] from 3D World, in which Mario is at a mega zoo and can transform into different zoo animals throughout the game. Interesting. We've already got. I like it. We've got Elephant from Wonder. We got Cat from 3D World. Now Mario is going to be a tiger, a lemur, a falcon. All that stuff. I mean, they could really go anywhere with this, right?
[00:21:57] Do you think they do something brand new, like what you're saying? Or do you think it's more of like similar to what you're saying, but like an Odyssey 2, like a sequel? I think it's a brand new thing because it's been so long. I don't think they would leave such a big gap between like Odyssey and Odyssey 2 or like Super Mario Galaxy 2 and a Galaxy 3. But I was thinking about this and a lot of 3D Mario games, well, a lot of Mario games,
[00:22:26] just 2D too awesome. They feature him being able to take on different disabilities based on, and a lot of them are animal based, right? Yeah. And so that's kind of where I went with this. What if they just go all in on the animal thing? They just have Mario do everything, and then they just put him in a zoo where every animal explicably is there. Interesting. Well, I also had a prediction on Mario because I made this prediction a while ago in regards
[00:22:55] to switch stuff. Because we talked about this before. Oh, yeah. Because we did our bets, right? Yeah. So I'm going to resurrect mine. New Mario is announced. Trailer. It isn't coming at launch. It isn't coming at launch. It's coming fall 2025.
[00:23:19] It is a true open world Mario game in the style of Super Mario 3D World Bowser's Fury. Where you are truly in an open world. It's not open zone. And then you go and little sections of the world turn into, quote unquote, your platforming levels. And they use that design ethos to build their open world. Okay. Yeah. That's what I think.
[00:23:49] And there are 2,000 moons to collect or whatever. And there's 15,000 moons. I wouldn't put it past them. I think there's 900 moons in Super Mario Odyssey. Yeah. I'm pretty sure. Yeah. Yeah. That's insane. Too many moons. That's no moon. Okay. That's no moon. Here's a really dumb one. And this is definitely not happening though. Okay.
[00:24:20] Nintendo teases the next Legend of Zelda game. No, no. Come on, bro. Which is a direct sequel to Twilight Princess. And Link will be able to transform into a wolf, bear, shark, and dragon. Oh, this is crazy. I like it though. I like it though. So, did we hear correctly some rumor that they've kind of split the Zelda team in two
[00:24:47] where they have one team who now makes like the Breath of the Wild style game and then another team is making like more traditional Zelda games, like dungeon style? It has been a hot minute since I've really heard or remembered anything about Legend of Zelda news. I think that's the case now. I think that's what they're doing. Well, the next big one is going to be a direct sequel to Twilight Princess. You heard it here first, folks. You heard it here first. My uncle told me. I like that. I like that.
[00:25:15] My uncle accidentally added me to a group chat at Nintendo and I got this information. No comment. Okay. My... Okay. I'm going to add a prediction because you just brought up Zelda. Okay. My prediction, there is no Zelda news at this.
[00:25:37] However, there's no new Zelda news, but we finally are getting the Twilight Princess remake remaster and it's going to be Switch 2 exclusive. Switch 2 exclusive? Not going to be on Switch. Yep. Oh, man. And I'm going to add to that a... Bum, bum, bum, bum, bum, bum. Weird Nintendo decision.
[00:26:08] So you saw in the Switch presentation the Nintendo Direct this morning. The final Nintendo Direct, as it were. Right. For the Switch. We should have talked about this, but yeah. Yeah, yeah. We forgot to mention this, right? Had a Nintendo Direct this morning. I think the only interesting announcement from that was pretty much they showed more gameplay of Metroid Beyond. That was pretty much it. I mean, it was pretty super low key, right? From what I remember. Let's see. They showed some more Pokemon, but that was already announced.
[00:26:38] Pokemon Legends. Yeah. The biggest, I think, news was probably... Well, there was some... I mean, why am I tripping over myself? Metroid Prime 4 Beyond, extra info. Pokemon Legends EA, extra info. They showed Dragon Quest 1 and 2 remake briefly. And then a few other things sprinkled in there that are going to pique the interest of specific groups.
[00:27:05] But in terms of gamers broadly, I think those were the big ones. Yeah. Anyway, they also showed off their new digital game solution. Oh, yeah. How they're now turning your digital games into essentially like NFTs. No, not really. Digital game carts. Okay.
[00:27:35] And you can loan... So, the way it works is like you have a game on your Switch. You can loan a game to someone else like it's a physical thing, right? And it's like a short-term period. And then it goes off of your Switch onto their Switch. And it works via like holding the systems together. And so, that's kind of cool, right? Yeah.
[00:27:57] However, I think the downside of this is what this means is that your Switch library is not going to carry over to the Switch 2. It will be closed ecosystem. So, if you want your Switch game on Switch 2, you will have to loan it to yourself on the Switch 2 or else you'll have to buy it again. Oh, I see what you mean. Because I was going to say, they said it worked across the Switch family of systems.
[00:28:25] Maybe you can transfer the game to your Switch 2 and then it'll work. Maybe. Maybe. That would be the better solution. That's probably what it is. Would they charge you five bucks to permanently transfer your virtual card from the Switch to the Switch 2? I mean, it's going to be something weird like that. And they're going to spend a while like explaining it because they're also going to talk about my other prediction. They're going to explain what they're doing for backwards compatibility and like performance boosts. Oh, okay.
[00:28:52] And I think the game that they're going to use to do that is Tears of the Kingdom. And they're going to show off Tears of the Kingdom at like 60 frames, right? Right. But, and we talked about this in a previous episode as well. I think you're going to have to have a Nintendo online subscription or something similar to get the boosted version. And or pay some sort of fee. I could definitely see that. Yeah.
[00:29:20] I'm super curious to see what comes with that. Because it sounded fine today when they talked about the virtual card. But it also sounded convoluted like Nintendo does, right? So. Absolutely. Oof. We'll see. It's going to be, I mean, I'm not getting all the details right, obviously. But some kind of convoluted Nintendo feature. It's going to have to be there. That's what they announced today was the tip of the iceberg. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:29:50] A hundred percent. Way more under it. A hundred percent. Oh boy. All right. This next one I think is my juiciest prediction. Do it. And I actually think that it might happen. The direct reveals Spyro 4 published by Xbox as a launch title for Switch 2. Whoa. You think they're far enough along to show this? Or is it just like a super light teaser? I mean, I put here a launch title.
[00:30:20] I actually don't believe that. But to add the juiciness to it. But I think what we're going to see is we're going to see something about Spyro 4, which Toys for Bob has teased by themselves. We know that Toys for Bob went independent after the Blizzard Activision acquisition. But we also know that they were going to, Xbox was going to publish their first game, if I'm not mistaken. That one needs to be fact checked. But I'm fairly confident that that's what they said.
[00:30:49] And so I believe that Xbox will be publishing Spyro 4. But it will launch at least whenever it launched. Maybe not a launch title. But whenever Spyro 4 launches, it will be on the Switch 2 system. And it will say published by Xbox. I like it. Yeah. I mean, I think this is a good opportunity for Xbox to show at the launch of the Switch 2 that Nintendo and Xbox have a stronger partnership. So if you don't see that, you're going to see something like Indiana Jones on Switch 2 as a launch title or something like that.
[00:31:19] That'd be pretty awesome. Yeah. But yeah, that's the one that I think might ruffle feathers because people are still, you know, whatever their feelings are towards Xbox, people still have that. But I just feel like that is super possible that something like that would happen. I agree. Let's see. What else did I have? Oh, yeah. Okay.
[00:31:47] So there is a game out there, Jake, that I have a lot of beef with. Okay. What? It's actually quite a few games I have a lot of beef with. But there's one in particular. Blew the game. It's really screwed me over. And I believe that I believed up till today that it was the Mandela effect. That this game never actually existed. Those trailers that we saw weren't even real. Battle in Wonderland.
[00:32:19] Is that game real? We'll never know. I don't know, man. And I'm going to make a bet right here, right now, that if this game is not showing at the Switch 2 presentation, I will play Gollum live on Jake's stream. Oh, yes. You heard it here, folks. With Jake commenting as I'm playing. We will see. Why am I blank?
[00:32:46] We will see Hollow Knight Silksong with a release date at the Switch 2 presentation. This has to happen. Jake, this is the final straw. With the release date. This is the final straw for Switch. If this game is not shown at the Switch 2 presentation, I promise you that I will never play it. I will never. I will not buy it. Careful, dude. I will never play this game.
[00:33:15] There are two different things that you promised there. Folks, this is an audio-only podcast, but what I want you to know, what I'm witnessing right now with my own eyes, is Cameron has a shovel, and he's digging himself a hole very quickly, right, Neo? I'm right here, right now. Take it to the bank. On top of that, I'm going to buy a large pizza for Jake, okay? We're stacking the bets. Team Cherry, I know you're listening. Don't show your game, because I want that pizza.
[00:33:45] Team Cherry, this is a message for you if you're listening right now. You better show your game now. Show it. Do it. Do it right now. Show it. I'm currently witnessing the whole get deeper. If you don't show it, your game doesn't exist. You're dead to me. You're dead to me. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. That's all I have to say about that. Now I'm watching the direct for one thing and one thing only, and that is seven minutes of Joy-Con mouse.
[00:34:16] Seven minutes of Joy-Con mouse. 20 minutes of explaining how digital games are going to work between systems. And then a three-minute Silksong 2 trailer, and it ends. It's an even, what is that, 40 minutes or something? 30 minutes? Just, that's it. Oh my gosh. Okay, I have one last prediction. I saved the dumbest one for last. This one is the dumbest. But, I would say there's a 10% chance that it happens. Okay? Okay.
[00:34:46] The Switch 2 launches with... Sorry. Oh my gosh. The Switch 2 launches with a new version of Skyrim. With an added DLC quest in which you can tame a very Charizard-coded dragon. Why do I just believe this? I don't know. I don't think that's going to happen, but I do think...
[00:35:15] What's the game called? The Xbox game? The Space 1? Bethesda? Oh, Starfield. Starfield will be on Switch 2. Oh man, that would piss a lot of people off. Yeah, I mean, Xbox is going to have a good showing here, I think. They're going to want to show like... Yeah. Like, they're going to want to... Because that's Xbox's strategy now, right? So, this is a huge, huge business opportunity for Xbox. The Switch 2 launch. The Switch 2 launch reveal is going to be 20% Xbox titles.
[00:35:45] I mean, it's a good way for... If you think about it, it's a good way for Nintendo to kind of fill the time, right? And say like, hey, look what our system can do now. And then they don't have to show like five new titles, you know? Right. They can still kind of get people hyped. Because you have to remember, there's a huge amount of gamers who only have a Switch. Especially like kids. That's their only system. Yeah. So. So, Spyro 4. Game Pass on Switch 2.
[00:36:14] Game Pass on Switch 2 would be wild. That would be wild. Dude. Dude, I could see it, man. You think Nintendo would really go for that, though? Yeah. You give Nintendo a revenue share? Easy. They don't care? Give them a revenue share, bro. They don't care. Then Xbox has Game Pass across PC, Xbox, and Switch 2. But have you seen these rumors of the Xbox handheld? Yeah, that's fair.
[00:36:43] They might still do that. Maybe they don't want to do that. They could still do that anyway. But again, that's their strategy, right? Everything is an Xbox. If they're committed to that, a Switch 2 is an Xbox. Yeah. I mean, that's true. But what I want with that strategy is I want to see Xbox really put their money where their mouth is and sell refrigerators with Doom built into it. I don't want to see a gimmick YouTube thing. I want my appliances. If you don't do that, what are you even doing as a business? What?
[00:37:12] If Xbox isn't in, I don't know, what's a fridge brand? Who knows? Samsung Xbox Doom Fridge. The Doom Fridge. Play Cyberpunk on your fridge. Chat GBT included. Co-pilot. Co-pilot. Co-pilot. Co-pilot that's giving you tips while you're selecting things out of your fridge.
[00:37:38] So TLDR, let's summarize what's going to happen in this presentation, right? We just gave you a lowdown. So you're going to see a Mario Kart announcement with all new tracks. And that's going to come at launch. You're going to see a new Mario game that's like a zoo Mario game where you can turn into different animals. That's also coming at launch or in the fall. Yeah. You're going to see a 15-minute presentation on the mouse capabilities of the Switch 2.
[00:38:08] Why do I feel like that one is maybe the most realistic one of all these? Then you're going to see an eight-minute presentation on the AI upscaling capabilities of the Switch 2, which will include games like from Microsoft and like Elden Ring, Indiana Jones, and Tears of the Kingdom running like 60 frames. Yeah. Right? You will 100% get a Silksong 2 trailer. Wait, Silksong 2?
[00:38:37] Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Hold on a Silksong trailer. Thank you. And to be clear, if this doesn't happen, I am playing Gollum on Jake's stream with Jake's commentary in the background. I'm buying him a large pizza. And you won't play Silksong? I'm giving you an out. And if the trailer doesn't happen at the Switch 2 event, I will never play Silksong ever.
[00:39:05] I will remove it from my wish list and I will ban it. I will write a bot for our Discord. If anyone brings up Silksong, it will immediately delete that message. And replace it with a clown emoji. And replace it with a clown emoji, which I actually figured out how to do the other day. Oh, no. Join our Discord. It's a lovely place. Join our Discord. Speaking of which, join our Discord. Link is in the description.
[00:39:35] Yeah. Yeah. So TLDR, that's your Switch 2 presentation. Jake, what do you think? What are we missing? Anything? Let's see. Dude, I think Spyro 4 gets teased. Oh, yeah. The Spyro 4. That's right. I think Spyro 4 gets teased. Listen, I honestly think there's a 10% chance that we get a new version of Skyrim. For a Switch 2. That's probably accurate. It might not come with an extra DLC, but maybe Microsoft shows that off. I mean, you know we're going to see trailers for a whole bunch of games that have already been shown.
[00:40:05] That are going to be shown again as Switch 2 launch titles. Right? Yeah. Like, we know that's going to be the case. Yep. And then you and I had different Legend of Zelda predictions. Right. You predicted, what? They're teasing the brand new one? They're teasing a direct sequel to Twilight Princess, folks. Teasing a direct sequel to Twilight Princess. I predicted Twilight Princess remake is finally happening. Or a remaster. Or whatever. Man, that would be really cool. I mean, they have to do this. It's inevitable.
[00:40:35] They have to do this at some point. It's inevitable. Like, there's no way around it. So, anyway. I think that covers all of it. Well, I think that's it. Yeah, that covers it. Sounds like a pretty fun presentation to me. Yeah. And it's going to be... Let's see. We've already mapped out 30 minutes of that. And then the rest of everything will be shoved in a montage. That takes up four minutes. Yeah. That's pretty much. It's going to be... Yep. And then between mouse footage.
[00:41:04] So, you know how the Switch has, like, the iconic Joy-Con sliding in and then the snap? Right? It's going to be... That's what it's going to be. But it's something like that, but with the mouse. It's going to be like a mouse scroll. Yeah. Like a double click. Or I was thinking like the mouse, you know, wheel scroll sound or something. That's it. Sabrina Carpenter is going to be there. Music video. The new...
[00:41:33] What was the rhythm game they announced today? Rhythm Heaven Groove. It's going to have three new Sabrina Carpenter originals on it. Nice. Where she sings about Captain Toad Treasure Tracker. Oh. Very nice. I'm making this up, but let's say that for the Switch 2, that's actually her favorite Nintendo game. Makes sense. Well, that's pretty good predictions, Jake. Yeah. I'm excited. Let's see. We are... It's March 27th. Yeah.
[00:42:01] So we're about less than a week away from this presentation. Yeah. Excited to see what this is all about. Oh, final prediction. When is this releasing? I've heard a rumor, but... No. When's it coming? I'm trying to give a real answer here and I'm super torn. Does it come in June or does it come in like November? Yeah. I think there's only two options to your point. It's either early summer or early fall.
[00:42:30] And I don't know. I'm really torn. I honestly think like June, we actually have a much better idea now than we did before of what's coming in the next few months. Yeah. And it seems like June would be a fantastic time to launch a new console and a bunch of new games. Right. I don't think Nintendo cares about GTA 6 when it launches. Right.
[00:42:59] So I could see them putting off their fall. Pokemon Legends ZA is coming in fall. And a part of me is like, is that a launch title? I was convinced it was. But I also thought that that game and the Switch would be coming like now. Right. Like end of Q1, beginning of Q2. So I don't know. I'm torn. I am. My gut is like leaning towards summer, though. I think they just... I think that's money in the bank. I think this is coming in June.
[00:43:29] A hundred percent. Yeah. I don't think they put it off till fall. And I think the main reason for that is because they need Runaway to market their other games. They're not... Because they don't want to do too many things at once. Right. So they're going to want to market the Switch launching and then whatever game, big game is launching with it. That's where the marketing money is going to go to. They're going to want another like quarter build up for whatever their next big title is in the fall. So... Yeah. I don't think you launch in the fall. And especially because they waited...
[00:43:58] They've waited a year, right? To build their inventory. So... They can do that, right? They're not up against a fence where they have to release it. So... Yeah. I think you're right. I think we see more realistically a June launch. I wouldn't be surprised if you had two or three big titles come with it. And then you have two or three more come in the holiday season. We know one of those. Yeah. Honestly, most excited to see what they do with Donkey Kong.
[00:44:28] If I'm honest. Dude, that's a big rumor is that Donkey... It's the year of Kong. I'm most excited to see what they do with Donkey Kong. I think he's been prominent in the marketing. They've got that new theme park at Universal Orlando Epic Universe that has big, huge Donkey Kong thing in it, right? Yeah. I think they're going to want to do some stuff to make... He's prominent in the Mario movie. I think Donkey Kong is getting a film, right? So, like... Yeah. There's going to be something focused on Kong.
[00:44:58] My action shooter, I'm changing it now, isn't Princess Peach. It's DK and Diddy Kong. It's DK. It would make banana guns or something. Various banana guns that are upgradable. Banana Zookas. That's it, dude. That's what's going to sell Switch 2. You're blowing up rhinos. Rhino type animal creatures. Humanoid animals.
[00:45:28] And you're doing it while you're on a mine cart level. I'm seeing it now. And now he's going to have his film look in all the games moving forward, too. Ooh, yeah, dude. Honestly, that's why I originally put for that one prediction that it would be a tie-in with the Super Mario Bros 2 movie. Because I think whatever weird, non-Mario yet still popular game they release this year is going to just double as marketing for that movie. Yeah.
[00:45:57] Ladies and gentlemen, this has been our episode predicting what's going to happen at the Switch 2 event. We're, of course, 100% accurate.
