[00:00:00] [MUSIC]

[00:00:10] Hello everybody and welcome to another episode of The Elder Trolls Gaming Podcast. If you are new, we are three brothers, we get together and we talk about gaming.

[00:00:39] And we talk about tech, TV, movies, other nerdy geeky things too, I'm Take It Easy, John Oh and I'm Nasty Nate and I'm Danned Off The Wise.

[00:00:47] And today we'll be discussing Power World a little bit later but first we have many guests tonight. We have Kelvin and Rob from the Gaming Duo Podcast where friendships are built through gaming.

[00:00:59] They give up-to-date news and discussions on the gaming industry. Guys, how are you?

[00:01:04] We're good? Can't go playing? I didn't want to talk over you, I was like, no, we did this. We did that last time you came on the show.

[00:01:13] It did a week? That's what problem of being a duo is you don't know one person is going to speak so you do it all the time. It's tough, it's tough out there.

[00:01:20] That's all right, that's all right. And then we have Chris from One Hour One Decision where they play a game pass game for one hour, no more and no less.

[00:01:29] And they let you know if it's worth your time. How are you, Chris?

[00:01:32] I am doing all right. And this is a fortuitous time because we've got you guys and I'm finally meeting the gaming duo together this is cool.

[00:01:45] Excellent. Excellent. And all these guys listeners can be found on your favorite podcast. Platforms, of course, boys, there are so many of us here tonight.

[00:01:54] Are you ready to talk about the craze, the pandemic in the gaming industry right now, the PAL, that is PAL World.

[00:02:04] The PAL Demik? PAL Demik? PAL Demik.

[00:02:07] Are we like the Paw Boys or PAL Boys? We got to call each other something.

[00:02:11] We got to call each other something. We got Boypals. Boypals? Palmen? Palmen? Palmen? Yeah. We are PAL men.

[00:02:24] All right, so I don't know if we're going to really have time to do any story time or anything really. I mean, we got six people on here. This might go.

[00:02:36] We might have to get right into it, but Nate, do you have anything?

[00:02:41] No new stories. No, absolutely nothing. Finn is perfectly fine. He hasn't eaten any chocolate bars.

[00:02:49] Good for him. Good for him. Good for him. Wow. That's good. Wow. He's taking a break on chocolate.

[00:02:55] Yeah. Oh, actually, they're eating the tree in the backyard. The big tree. I have a massive tree, like a massive tree, and they're eating the bark off it.

[00:03:05] That's nice. Hey, man. That's what they're there for. That's what I've been eating idiots. So then I tied a carpet around the tree, and I taped it, so now there's a carpet.

[00:03:15] Like a cat scratching post. There's this little bit underneath the carpet and they're just knowing at that. I'm like, fuck, there's no winning.

[00:03:25] They're just going to eat you. Is it just going to? I hope I was going to. Hope so. They have sleep, but I just went on cats. Cats would do that.

[00:03:34] Like if you died in your house. Yes, cats. Like I think you just sooner than dogs. They'd probably take dogs a little longer.

[00:03:44] No, come round. Did we have this conversation? I'm pretty sure we have this conversation.

[00:03:48] That's a Google thing, too. I googled it, and I press. Was that just a cat? As a dog, it would be depressed. Yeah, cat defender, cat sympathizer.

[00:03:58] All right. You want to go right into game time? You want to just get into this? Yeah, we'll go in the game time, and then we'll just talk power world.

[00:04:06] OK. Oh, my gosh. All right.

[00:04:09] All right, guys, what are we playing currently? We'll do one game, a person. How about that? That should. That should be OK.

[00:04:27] But you can say whatever you want, you know, but one game, or you're I'll kick you out of here.

[00:04:32] Who wants to go first? There we go. Kelvin's raising his hand. There we go. Raise the hand.

[00:04:41] I've been playing power world a little bit, but yesterday, as of yesterday, I played. I don't wait to. Oh, nice.

[00:04:50] We've talked about that a little bit in our episodes on our podcast, and I'm really digging it, really digging it.

[00:04:55] It's a great time. I think the horror is there. So if you're a horror fan, you definitely check it out. This is my first time in the Alan Wake series.

[00:05:03] I haven't played the first one. So I'm playing this one just kind of, I don't know, the first one never really grabbed my attention. Right.

[00:05:10] Did you watch like a recap of it? No, but you know, all I've heard, it's like you don't really necessarily need to play the first one to get into the second one.

[00:05:19] I don't know how true that is, but so far, but I think there's a lot of stuff that you would be like, Oh, that's from the first one.

[00:05:24] Oh, okay. That's right. Yeah. Obviously, if you've played the first one, you're going to get paid.

[00:05:29] You're going to enjoy more of the scenes than someone that hasn't. So it's cool. I like it. I really do enjoy it.

[00:05:36] I think the story is where it's at. The story is super interesting, and I think me diving into it more, it just makes me want to play it that much more.

[00:05:44] I did tell Rob when we spoke about it. I wasn't really a fan of the acting as of right now, but he says just wait till you get better.

[00:05:52] It gets better at some point. So I'm waiting on that. But yeah, I'm having a blast so far. Where are you playing it? I'm a PS five PS five.

[00:05:59] It's on sale right now. That's right now on PS five. It's always been on sale. 20% off, I think.

[00:06:04] Are you at Allen's part yet? Did you get to Allen's part? No, no, not yet. Okay, because I had an issue with Allen's.

[00:06:11] Allen's. Boom. I have to say, I kind of see where you're going. I got to it not too long ago, and I'm like, okay, I could see why it's annoying.

[00:06:24] But I really liked Sawdust Game Gameplay for sure. And the visuals in that game are just unbelievable. It looks crazy. It looks crazy.

[00:06:33] Crazy thing control. No, I don't know. Control was on a different level in my opinion. I never played. Yeah, I played. I played like an hour of it. And I was like, this is.

[00:06:44] A bit much. Not for you. Damn. All right. No visually, though, it's, it's, I think honestly control is up there.

[00:06:56] I mean, don't get me wrong. Allen week two is looks great, but control for some reason just really knocked it out of the park.

[00:07:02] Control was those early, like ray tracing titles. Yeah, it was melting PCs when you turn the ray tracing toggle on.

[00:07:08] Oh, that's good. All right. Who's up next here? Anyway, who's up next? Let's go with Chris. Oh, no, no, we got Rob with the hand.

[00:07:19] We got a hand raise. I did the hand. I did the hand. Just saying. There you go. Rob.

[00:07:23] I'm not really playing anything per se. I played a little Allen week too, but what I've been messing with is some cloud gaming.

[00:07:30] I really want to get on the cloud gaming train. So what I did was I went on Timu and I bought these little mounts. Yeah, I got those. Yes.

[00:07:39] Yeah. And I got one for my PS five for remote play and I got one for my Xbox for a game pass.

[00:07:45] Now I tried remote play for PS five and it's great until you play certain games.

[00:07:54] So, for example, when I played Allen week two on remote play on the little on my phone, it's you can't really play.

[00:08:00] It's too small. Everything's so dark. You can't really see the details. How is the performance connection though? It's fine. Yeah.

[00:08:07] Literally no lag. And yeah, it was just an and I put it up Tekken eight. You know what? It's great. It's playing it.

[00:08:15] Like for Allen week two, because it's a really dark game and I feel like you would need to have a really high bit rate to get those details like in the dark.

[00:08:22] Yeah. Kind of areas. You know what I mean? It was just more of it. The screen is so small that it's it's you just can't really see.

[00:08:30] It's like my coach across the room. So same thing. Right. That's why I sit in front of my television.

[00:08:37] Exactly. And a wooden stool.

[00:08:41] I used to actually do that. I used to sit right. Really?

[00:08:46] So bad for us. It's so bad. It's like one of the movies and you're sitting in the front row.

[00:08:53] Yeah. The first time I saw Lord of the Rings. I was sitting in the second row.

[00:08:58] Oh, yeah. I did that for a turn of the King literally right up front.

[00:09:05] Yeah. They continue up. And then yeah, I booted up a game pass and that also played really well.

[00:09:13] But you have to use it as the we have to go only the website and log in through there.

[00:09:18] It's really weird. They don't have like a dedicated app for it. I thought they did.

[00:09:21] Not iOS. Not iOS. Really? So still worked really well. I was actually pretty shocked and Resident Evil 2 worked really well.

[00:09:30] Okay. But Power World ran like as it was so bad.

[00:09:36] On the X cloud. This is like on the X cloud at least on my phone. It didn't run it didn't run well because it's just so much stuff happening on screen.

[00:09:44] Yeah. Like I've I've doubled quite a bit in remote playing. I find the PS like the PlayStation one is superior than anything I could try to remote play on X cloud.

[00:09:59] I don't know what it is. Like I don't know if their compression or their algorithms are better or whatever it is to compress.

[00:10:06] But I never have an issue when I'm remote playing from my PS five or when I'm at work.

[00:10:15] And I'm on the shitter and I can remote play my PS five from work over the Internet and it's still fine.

[00:10:24] Interesting. Well, it's time to be alive. Like the controls aren't as snappy obviously. Like there's gonna be some latency but like never tearing no pixelated tearing no like freezing or jittering.

[00:10:35] Like I don't have that issue. Any time I go to play either X cloud or remote play to my Xbox. There's always issues. I always have issues.

[00:10:44] I don't know what it is. I've only ever used it for a used X cloud play to play Octopath Traveler in the first one.

[00:10:53] And I use the Samsung app on my TV. Yeah.

[00:10:57] Because the Samsung has the Xbox app and you can just log in. I was like, okay, let's try this. And I just connected like a PS five or more Bluetooth to the to the Samsung.

[00:11:08] And I was able to play and it wasn't it's okay for a game like that. But I could see how, you know, it's not.

[00:11:14] It was not very like clear. It wasn't super clear. Again, this is a Samsung TV. Like how good is the network card going to be on the TV.

[00:11:24] Right. But yeah, so that will do that. And I'm going to be playing Persona three reload tonight or two.

[00:11:30] Oh, wait. That thing's a hundred bucks. Geez.

[00:11:36] Is that what is this a complete redone game of number three? Like it's remade. This is a PSP game.

[00:11:43] It's a yeah, you go help it. I don't remember if it was.

[00:11:48] It was a piece was PSP. I want to say it was a PSP game is again, I guess two game PS two game. They made it. They remade it for PSP. And they remade it.

[00:11:58] That's it. That's it. Yes. All right. Just milking the fucking cash cow.

[00:12:03] It's milking the weaves. Milking but that was so long ago, man, like that. It's not like a last of a situation. This is like, I would have never known about this.

[00:12:17] If they don't keep doing what they're doing now, I guess that's true. Yeah, that is true. Well, I'll not play it.

[00:12:24] Chris, what's up? Well, I had the I don't know if I want to say opportunity by finally finished Sea of Stars. Oh, I hundred percent.

[00:12:38] I mean, I got the true ending. I got all the stupid rainbow conch's and all that. Good for you, man. Good for you, man.

[00:12:48] It was painful for quite some time because I was like, I told myself, I'm not playing any other narrative game right after the before during this.

[00:12:57] I was like, this is the only thing I'm doing. So thankfully, Powell, well, they did not fulfill that problem.

[00:13:07] I was like, yeah, cool. But yeah, I finally did that. And yeah, so now I'm ready to find my next challenge.

[00:13:16] What's next? You don't know what's next? I don't know what's next. How long did it take you for Sea of Stars?

[00:13:22] I probably have 45 hours. Ooh, I gave it five hours.

[00:13:27] Can I do that? Nope, not for me.

[00:13:30] Yeah, I'm beat it in like 30 something. Yeah, Pam's like, you have to play it. I'm not playing it.

[00:13:37] I'm playing it either. It's very tough. Like to get my attention and hold it for more than a couple hours.

[00:13:43] Like it's so because I've got I'm playing like 10 other games. Okay. Yeah. Okay, companies. Okay, companies.

[00:13:50] They're not please.

[00:13:54] But yeah, I mean, I will say like the fact that the story held me for as long as it did with the limited amount of dialogue that was in the game too.

[00:14:05] Yeah, I was like, I was like, you know, it was pretty impressive. So I did like the little dungeons they had those. Yeah, I did like that.

[00:14:13] But I found out was I thought was like, it was good. And then it got a little like grindy at certain points. And then like it got better near the end again.

[00:14:22] I don't know. I'll explain because like you get more power sets and more characters.

[00:14:26] I feel like that game just went for way too long. Yeah, it could have been 10 hours less. You know what I mean?

[00:14:32] Like it wasn't fine. A lot of tracking, it was like. Oh, yeah, don't be started. We don't like backtracking here.

[00:14:41] Yeah. Yeah. We don't like that. You know what? I'm actually excited to try. If I can get my hands on Prince of Persia, the Lost Crown. Oh, yeah. Oh, did you try the demo?

[00:14:50] I did. I really liked it. Yeah, I really liked it. Oh, I didn't try the demo yet. It's surprising people. I mean, it didn't. Yeah. I don't know. It didn't look like anything.

[00:14:57] I'm surprised. It didn't sell as much as it should have. It, I mean, it did okay.

[00:15:04] I mean, I don't even know the numbers, but from what I've read, it wasn't like anything crazy. Like I would have sold more, you know.

[00:15:10] Prince of Persia. It said a full price though. It's like a $90 price tag. What? It's $50.

[00:15:17] $90? Oh, wait. So he's there. Yeah, Canadian's wine. When you see that.

[00:15:22] The game is $90. Oh, and I'm pretty sure that's what I saw. And I was like, no way. No way.

[00:15:29] I spent now things are $93 Canadian. Okay. That's insane. Dogma, too. It's like $103 now.

[00:15:37] Why? I think pretty sure. Yeah, like they're all up there. They're all like 90. Is that on steam? Can I search that right now?

[00:15:46] Why is my steam not opening? Come on, come on. I'll be getting it. I'll be getting it for PS5. I think it's March. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, man.

[00:15:53] I can't wait. That one looks good. Grand blue fantasy. This popped up. This looks pretty cool, actually. I played the double for that one.

[00:15:59] Two things about that one. Yeah. That was a big one. All right. Yeah. So if anyone cares, Prince of Persia, the lost crown has sold only 300,000 copies.

[00:16:07] That's it. This thing is $94.99 before tax. Yeah, man.

[00:16:14] What? Which one? Which one? Dragon's on. Yeah. Yeah. That's after Capcom was like, we're going to raise our prices.

[00:16:20] And then they raised it by like $40. I ain't buying it. I was gonna, but now I'm not gonna. All right.

[00:16:28] Shall I go next? Sure. Other than Power World, I jumped back into Witcher 3. Oh, my God. What? You're fucking gay.

[00:16:40] You never beat it. I can't. I keep hacking away at it. I put like, I'll put like 15 hours into it and then I'll stop for a while.

[00:16:47] And then I'll put another 15 hours into the stop a while. And then I'll put 10 out. Like, I just keep coming back.

[00:16:51] Just do the main quest, man. Right now I'm just hacking it. But then the next main quest is like five levels hired me.

[00:16:57] I'm like, ah, so I'll go do some side stuff, you know? Go take some on easy, bro. In game photos, you know, ride the horses across the countryside.

[00:17:07] But I've been playing it for the werewolves. And I was like, well, that did nothing.

[00:17:13] I've been playing it remotely, actually. Speaking of really, I've been playing remotely down on my couch. I remote play it off my PC.

[00:17:21] So I have an app called Moonlight that you can download onto your Series S or X, like your Xbox.

[00:17:29] And it connects to the sunlight server, which is on your PC. And you can remote play your games to your Xbox.

[00:17:36] So you can jump on Discord through the Xbox while playing it, too. It's really good. And the performance is fantastic.

[00:17:44] Looks amazing. I crank the graphics up, modded the shit out of it. And I am thoroughly enjoying this game.

[00:17:52] I didn't work with Alan Blake, too, though. No. That Moonlight Sunshine for some reason.

[00:17:57] But like the music just the music blows me away. Just I'm riding the horse and I don't I never fast travel in that game because I just think it's so it's so beautiful that game.

[00:18:08] I just ride the horse and I'm listening to music, jump off, hack some werewolves, kill some wolves bandits, jump back on the horse.

[00:18:16] Oh, then you come into a you come into a little town, grab a few quests like man, what it's it's so good. It's so well designed.

[00:18:24] Like that is the ultimate open world, like design how they how they did that. It's incredible. You can lose so many hours. Just fucking going around. And it's very immersive.

[00:18:35] Like I was in the main city. I can't remember the fuck it's called Novograd the big one. And just what the headphones on and you and you're just walking around and you feel so disgusting.

[00:18:46] Like all the people coughing and like pissing on the streets and like all the shit like you're walking around like coughing on your like God, it's so gross. It is so gross.

[00:18:57] And it's so immersive. It's so good. So fucking good. That's actually hilarious. It's awesome. But yeah, which of three I'm going to try to beat it this playthrough. I'm going to try to beat it because what's coming out soon dogma.

[00:19:12] Dogmo probably be my next purchase. As you guys know, I have been budgeting myself for $95. That's a big part of your budget. Yeah.

[00:19:22] Yeah. Yeah. Thank you. It's a big game. Yeah. That's what I call up. Do you know which one? I think so. I can talk more.

[00:19:29] I tried to play the first one, but the graphics were too shitty for me recently. And I don't know if it's I don't think it's co-op. I don't believe so.

[00:19:38] I feel like it should be. I feel like it should be. I don't know. Single player. It says, yeah. You get like the opinions like a group of AI companions, but it's not co-op like.

[00:19:51] Name a specific name to the companions. I forgot. It's like their own pawns. That's what it is. Yes. Pawns.

[00:19:58] That's I feel like that's such a missed opportunity. Imagine how cool that would be. Jumped on with three of my whole premise of the game. It's like, hey, you get to.

[00:20:07] Yeah, you get to play with some buddies and you get to, you know, bring some enemies down and just, you know, they're halfway enemies. And I thought that was pretty cool.

[00:20:15] That says they're similar to games. I played Starfield similar to Starfield this game. Maybe. Maybe not.

[00:20:23] Probably the Dragon Spaceship. It's probably going to. I think from from what we've seen of it so far like don't I'm not going to be surprised if it's on that game of the year.

[00:20:33] Contending. Four nominations.

[00:20:37] State of play brought it up for me. I was like, wow, this is really cool. I actually think this is a purchase maybe if you know, I mean, because it just did a really good job of showcasing.

[00:20:47] They showed more of that I think of like the spells and stuff. There was some very cool looking like this ice dude like smashed a giant ice spell and then like ran up it and jumped on.

[00:21:00] Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That was so cool. And just like the little runes that kind of float around. It did look really, really cool.

[00:21:08] It's going to be like the first Capcom game that I'm actually, well, actually going to purchase one and excited to play number two like you played exo primal. You were pretty excited about that was free.

[00:21:20] Oh, no, sorry. I did buy and barely played monster hunter rise. I did get that. Yeah. I would play a monster hunter game over playing exo primal. That's for sure.

[00:21:35] And the last monster hunter game I played was 2000 fucking four. So wow. That should tell you something. It's been a minute. Huh? Rob, you had a question? Yeah. Nate, is game pass subscription or PS plus is that part of your budget or separate from your budget?

[00:21:55] That's separate. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. So my budgets mainly just stopped me from.

[00:22:02] from.

[00:22:03] buying like two or three either full priced games

[00:22:06] like a month, you know what I mean?

[00:22:07] 'Cause I got the Switch, we got the PlayStation,

[00:22:12] I got Steam, you know?

[00:22:14] So like I've been finding myself,

[00:22:15] I'll buy a couple of games on PlayStation

[00:22:17] and I'll be like, "Oh, I feel like playing Nintendo."

[00:22:18] And then I'll browse through the Nintendo store

[00:22:21] and then buy a couple more games there

[00:22:22] and then I'll never fucking play them, you know what I mean?

[00:22:24] So like, it's kind of to curb the,

[00:22:28] just like random buying of actual games.

[00:22:32] Like, "Gotcha."

[00:22:33] Okay.

[00:22:34] 'Cause we need some help.

[00:22:34] What?

[00:22:35] This will help your gamers fatigue.

[00:22:37] Yes, exactly, yeah.

[00:22:39] Exactly.

[00:22:40] Like what, I wouldn't have went back.

[00:22:41] If you had a seminar for a game at it.

[00:22:43] (all laugh)

[00:22:45] I would have gone back to play Witcher 3

[00:22:48] if I wasn't doing this budget, to be honest with you.

[00:22:50] That's fair, that's fair.

[00:22:51] Like, I went through my backlog and I was like,

[00:22:55] "Oh shit, you know what, Witcher 3 would be sick."

[00:22:58] And then I just started playing it.

[00:22:59] That was it.

[00:23:00] So are you into Game Pass as much

[00:23:01] as I'm not really.

[00:23:03] Like the last, other than PAL World,

[00:23:06] like what do I have here that I was playing on Game Pass?

[00:23:09] Like the last Game Pass game I downloaded and played?

[00:23:12] Yeah, I don't even know.

[00:23:13] The party animals.

[00:23:14] Oh yeah, we're starting to reload tonight.

[00:23:17] Oh my God, it stops like that.

[00:23:19] That's not on Game Pass as it.

[00:23:20] I can't wait.

[00:23:21] There's gonna be Game Pass.

[00:23:22] Oh, it is.

[00:23:23] Yeah.

[00:23:24] Yeah.

[00:23:24] It drops today.

[00:23:25] Oh, maybe then.

[00:23:26] What is?

[00:23:27] I missed it.

[00:23:28] For some of the reload.

[00:23:29] Maybe.

[00:23:30] But I don't have anything.

[00:23:32] I was, oh!

[00:23:34] No, that's my one game.

[00:23:35] That's it.

[00:23:36] I'll let the floor go.

[00:23:37] I'll let the floor go.

[00:23:39] We're doing all right.

[00:23:40] We're doing all right.

[00:23:41] Okay, okay.

[00:23:42] Okay, okay, okay.

[00:23:42] So I downloaded Senua the first one.

[00:23:47] Oh, I didn't play one too.

[00:23:49] Oh my goodness.

[00:23:50] And I beat the first, I beat the cert,

[00:23:53] the fire god guy.

[00:23:54] Yeah.

[00:23:55] I don't know, guys.

[00:23:57] Oh, come on.

[00:23:59] What are you doing?

[00:24:00] What are you doing in your mouth, face?

[00:24:03] I think I'm gonna really like make it shine

[00:24:05] and just like, this is it, man.

[00:24:08] Is it the game?

[00:24:09] I played this game the first day now.

[00:24:10] I don't know what it is.

[00:24:11] I didn't really grab.

[00:24:12] I was like forcing myself to get through that.

[00:24:14] And after I'm done, the first one was like,

[00:24:16] I don't really want to go to do the second one.

[00:24:19] The second, like a god guy.

[00:24:21] I don't know what it is.

[00:24:22] It might just be how slow it is.

[00:24:25] It's doing all right.

[00:24:26] It's doing all right.

[00:24:27] It's okay, kind of gives me ASMR vibes.

[00:24:30] You know, like psychosis, ASMR psychosis.

[00:24:33] Yeah.

[00:24:34] Which I'm okay with.

[00:24:35] The best kind of ASMR.

[00:24:36] But like, just the slow, I didn't even know

[00:24:41] that you could run for like half the level.

[00:24:43] Oh, man.

[00:24:44] And I was like walking.

[00:24:45] I was like, this is terrible.

[00:24:46] This is the worst.

[00:24:47] And then.

[00:24:48] Hey, at least you can run versus God of war.

[00:24:51] You can't run.

[00:24:52] I thought you could.

[00:24:53] I hate, I hate those eight ways.

[00:24:54] I'm just like walking.

[00:24:55] Oh, the first day of the game.

[00:24:57] Yeah, you can do that.

[00:24:58] Yeah, no.

[00:24:59] Or Gears of War.

[00:25:00] When you just like.

[00:25:02] Oh, you can see what you're saying?

[00:25:04] I'm just like waddling like a duck.

[00:25:06] 'Cause so bad.

[00:25:07] We're just walking around this level.

[00:25:09] This guy's a super soldier.

[00:25:11] You can't run.

[00:25:12] Yeah.

[00:25:12] You're very happy.

[00:25:13] Very happy.

[00:25:14] But yeah, that's what I've been doing.

[00:25:16] That's what I've been playing.

[00:25:17] Next.

[00:25:18] Daniel, have you been gaming at all?

[00:25:21] Yeah, I was playing Cyberpunk.

[00:25:25] Phantom Liberty, which I did credit roll.

[00:25:27] I beat it.

[00:25:27] Oh, yes.

[00:25:28] Nice.

[00:25:29] Man.

[00:25:32] I don't know.

[00:25:33] I feel like there's so much

[00:25:36] that I could just replay.

[00:25:38] And just get different endings

[00:25:42] and all this shit.

[00:25:43] I was crazy.

[00:25:44] It was talking.

[00:25:44] It was a game level decision that you had to make.

[00:25:46] Yeah.

[00:25:47] Wait, don't say anything.

[00:25:48] Yeah.

[00:25:49] I'm not gonna spoil it.

[00:25:50] Yeah, I remember.

[00:25:52] You're just like, oh, what do I do?

[00:25:54] No, no.

[00:25:55] But I was talking to my buddies about Cyberpunk,

[00:25:58] specifically Phantom Liberty and the endings.

[00:26:01] And we all got like the same ending.

[00:26:03] Oh, really?

[00:26:03] Oh, really?

[00:26:04] And I was like, oh, okay.

[00:26:06] I didn't expect such a uniform outcome

[00:26:10] because we all got drastically different ones

[00:26:13] for the base game.

[00:26:14] But yeah, it was interesting.

[00:26:17] Really what I don't even know what I was expecting going in,

[00:26:21] but after finishing it, I was like, that was fucking cool.

[00:26:23] And all I can say is I'm just looking forward

[00:26:26] to yet again playing Cyberpunk in the future

[00:26:29] and maybe playing it again, starting a new character,

[00:26:31] whatever, and then doing that game

[00:26:33] and making different choices.

[00:26:34] Or I should say playing Phantom Liberty

[00:26:36] and doing different, making different decisions there.

[00:26:39] Because I just wonder how many endings there are.

[00:26:41] I don't really want to look it up,

[00:26:43] but just see about the decisions that you make

[00:26:46] and how they change the outcome.

[00:26:48] But that's pretty much all I've been doing,

[00:26:51] obviously a little bit of power world.

[00:26:54] - I have also just been--

[00:26:56] - You're balloon popping game?

[00:26:57] - I've just been getting some--

[00:26:59] - What?

[00:26:59] - You're balloon popping game?

[00:27:00] - No, just cozy game games.

[00:27:01] - Jerry's gaming, so I've been playing Animal Crossing

[00:27:05] a little bit and just kind of,

[00:27:07] 'cause my villagers obviously missed me.

[00:27:10] Because it's been months and months.

[00:27:13] - How do you turn up to it?

[00:27:15] - Whenever I do log in.

[00:27:16] I don't buy turnips anymore.

[00:27:18] That's something from the old world.

[00:27:20] See?

[00:27:21] - It's now you plant crops and you yield those.

[00:27:26] But anyway, yeah, I just been dipping into that

[00:27:28] 'cause it's so easy to just turn it on, play it,

[00:27:30] jump in, see what's at the shops, whatever, whatever.

[00:27:33] Write a mean letter to your douchebag.

[00:27:36] - Mayor.

[00:27:36] - A villager that you don't like.

[00:27:38] (laughing)

[00:27:40] - And they're like, oh my God, I got your letter.

[00:27:43] I loved it so much.

[00:27:46] Anyway, that's really it.

[00:27:47] It's just a cyberpunk and just kind of

[00:27:50] a little tiny, small commitments.

[00:27:52] Of course, a little bit of howl world.

[00:27:53] - We'll actually be having a cyberpunk episode

[00:27:56] next week on Phantom Liberty.

[00:27:59] I actually made a save before I started Phantom Liberty.

[00:28:03] So if I wanna go back to replay Phantom Liberty,

[00:28:06] I'll start from that save file again.

[00:28:07] - I could find it as well.

[00:28:08] - Yeah, 'cause I can't remake a character.

[00:28:11] The character that I've built and have in my mind,

[00:28:15] she's just one of a kind and she's not gonna get re-rolled.

[00:28:18] - No way. - She's perfect.

[00:28:19] - Not happening.

[00:28:19] - Oh wow, really?

[00:28:20] - Yeah.

[00:28:21] - I think I made a save right when I started

[00:28:24] Phantom Liberty actually.

[00:28:25] - Yeah, yeah.

[00:28:26] - So yeah, I think I could replay.

[00:28:27] - Yes, you can.

[00:28:28] You can do that, that is true.

[00:28:30] If you don't wanna have to restart.

[00:28:31] I thought about doing that and I ended up not.

[00:28:34] So I was like, okay, I'll just use my current V8.

[00:28:36] Especially after they came up with a new update

[00:28:38] where you can just respect a whole bunch of shit

[00:28:39] and the specs are totally different

[00:28:41] and the skill trees are different

[00:28:42] and all the effects are different

[00:28:43] and all the cyberware is different.

[00:28:46] So it's almost like you're starting over anyway.

[00:28:48] - Yeah, it's just you still have the same

[00:28:50] 'cause even your guns, all the stats are completely gone.

[00:28:54] Everything's wiped.

[00:28:54] It's not really about that anymore.

[00:28:56] I mean, yes, you use your weapons or whatever,

[00:28:58] but the damage system's a bit different.

[00:29:01] You still have mods and shit like that.

[00:29:03] But yeah, so it's almost like starting over anyway,

[00:29:06] even if you do have a save,

[00:29:07] you just have the same V that you had before.

[00:29:10] That's all.

[00:29:10] - Okay, cool. - Okay, cool.

[00:29:13] Well, speaking of everything being wiped.

[00:29:17] - It's the second time this happened to me

[00:29:21] in Final Fantasy VII.

[00:29:22] - I didn't do it this time.

[00:29:24] It wasn't me.

[00:29:25] - Oh God.

[00:29:26] - Did you not do what I told you to do?

[00:29:27] - No, yeah.

[00:29:28] - I didn't try it now.

[00:29:29] I just started over.

[00:29:30] Anyway, I was on my PS5 and I was like,

[00:29:31] okay, I'm gonna go back and spin up my save file

[00:29:35] from Final Fantasy VII Remake

[00:29:37] because the new one's coming out

[00:29:39] and I boot up my PS5 and there's nothing there.

[00:29:43] There's no save file.

[00:29:45] And I don't recall how far I was,

[00:29:47] but I was pretty far many hours into the game

[00:29:53] and it's just gone.

[00:29:54] And I was like, oh, maybe,

[00:29:56] if it's in Pam's profile, so I switched over, nothing.

[00:30:00] And I was like, god damn it.

[00:30:02] And I was like, fuck it, I'll start again.

[00:30:04] So I started over Final Fantasy VII Remake.

[00:30:07] The reason I said this is not the first time

[00:30:09] that's happened to Nathaniel while we were children

[00:30:11] deleted my 72-hour save at Final Fantasy VII

[00:30:14] off of the memory card.

[00:30:16] Wow, it was not happy about that one.

[00:30:20] - I want to kill it up the music.

[00:30:22] - I love that so much.

[00:30:23] - Anyway, I also, what I did before I spun it up

[00:30:28] was I went and I went on YouTube

[00:30:29] and I watched a full story recap of Crisis Core Reunion

[00:30:34] which kind of frames Final Fantasy VII

[00:30:37] and puts it in a pretty good perspective.

[00:30:40] And I'm glad I did because it didn't look like a game

[00:30:42] I really would want to play,

[00:30:43] but it does tell the full story of Zach

[00:30:45] and what happened there.

[00:30:47] And he is in Final Fantasy VII, the original,

[00:30:49] but it just doesn't give as much kind of a backstory.

[00:30:51] But I'm glad I did that and I started playing it again

[00:30:55] the Final Fantasy VII Remake.

[00:30:57] And it's really good, man.

[00:30:59] Like I'm like nine hours in, I think now.

[00:31:04] And I think I finally reached the spot

[00:31:05] where I was before.

[00:31:06] I don't know how long it is.

[00:31:07] It's kind of a blur like,

[00:31:08] 'cause it's kind of a weird feeling

[00:31:10] because I know the original story so well

[00:31:13] and I know I've played all that,

[00:31:14] but if this is the same, then it kind of just mixes together

[00:31:18] and I don't know,

[00:31:19] 'cause I didn't know how far I played on this one, you know?

[00:31:21] 'Cause I know what happens, but I have no idea

[00:31:24] if I played that.

[00:31:24] - When it's gonna happen.

[00:31:25] - The old one, or the new one.

[00:31:27] And the place that I thought I was on my safe file

[00:31:30] was only like two hours in.

[00:31:31] I was like, oh, oh, this is definitely not where I got to.

[00:31:35] And then I went for like seven hours after that.

[00:31:38] I was like, yeah, I played this.

[00:31:39] I played this already.

[00:31:40] Okay, okay, finally.

[00:31:41] Finally, now I'm getting to where I haven't played,

[00:31:44] but I did notice one thing though.

[00:31:48] There's a lot of stuff

[00:31:49] that just kind of doesn't need to be there in this game.

[00:31:51] It's just like a bunch of crap that I don't need to know.

[00:31:56] Give me the story of Final Fantasy VII, please.

[00:31:59] I don't wanna be like slumming around the slums,

[00:32:02] like looking for cats and fucking,

[00:32:04] you know what I mean?

[00:32:05] Like doing this stupid side shit.

[00:32:06] Like, that's where I stopped playing.

[00:32:09] Let me do the main quest, please.

[00:32:11] And I have to follow Airy Thrown for fucking two hours

[00:32:15] after I fall into the church.

[00:32:17] Like, dude, let's go.

[00:32:18] Let's get to the story.

[00:32:20] - They're just milking it.

[00:32:22] - I know, it's really annoying,

[00:32:23] but that's where I am now.

[00:32:24] Like, I finally got out of that.

[00:32:26] And I'm going back to sector seven.

[00:32:29] Like, get me into the story, please.

[00:32:31] Like, what about the cut scene

[00:32:33] when you found Airyth though?

[00:32:36] How cool is that cut scene?

[00:32:37] Do you remember what I'm talking about?

[00:32:39] - Where he has like a flashback?

[00:32:40] I think he's a flashback.

[00:32:41] - No, Red Hat Man comes.

[00:32:43] And Bald Hat Man comes.

[00:32:45] - Oh, yeah, yeah.

[00:32:46] I fight him.

[00:32:47] - Yeah, it was cool, right?

[00:32:48] I'm trying. - It was a good fight.

[00:32:49] Like, there's a boss fight.

[00:32:50] But then after that, it's like,

[00:32:51] I follow her around for two hours.

[00:32:52] I'm like, dude.

[00:32:53] - Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you know.

[00:32:55] Got you.

[00:32:55] - It wasn't like that in the original, right?

[00:32:57] - I played that one.

[00:32:58] - I played that one.

[00:32:59] - There were no side quests in the original game.

[00:33:01] - Yeah, exactly.

[00:33:02] I got to the part where I was in the slums

[00:33:04] chasing the cats.

[00:33:05] And I was going to another show and I was like, no.

[00:33:08] I'm not like that.

[00:33:09] - I'm done.

[00:33:10] - I'm done.

[00:33:11] - So the original doesn't have any side quests.

[00:33:12] That actually might be cool for me.

[00:33:16] Like, I actually might enjoy that.

[00:33:17] 'Cause if it's just straight story,

[00:33:19] that's exactly what I want.

[00:33:21] - You're not going to go for it.

[00:33:22] - It's just not going to go.

[00:33:23] - You're not going to go for it.

[00:33:23] - I'm just going to go for it.

[00:33:24] - You're not going to go back and do it.

[00:33:25] - It's so bad.

[00:33:26] It looks so terrible.

[00:33:27] - There's side stuff you can do.

[00:33:29] Like, you can go breed chocobos for racing them

[00:33:32] at the Golden Sauce, or like, you do all that stuff.

[00:33:34] You can spend as much time as you want,

[00:33:35] but you could not do it at all.

[00:33:36] But if you want the Knights of the Round Materia,

[00:33:38] you do gotta do it.

[00:33:40] - Yeah.

[00:33:41] - You know what I'm saying?

[00:33:42] But there isn't like, side quests.

[00:33:43] There isn't quests, like, ding, ding, ding.

[00:33:46] Oh, here.

[00:33:47] Come and help me find my blah, blah, blah.

[00:33:49] Like, there's not that.

[00:33:50] It's just, you do it.

[00:33:51] You just play the game in it.

[00:33:52] That's what games were back then, you know?

[00:33:55] - Yeah.

[00:33:56] - They were like, hidden. - They were like, hidden.

[00:33:57] - The side quests were like, hidden.

[00:33:59] And you had to like, activate them in order to like open,

[00:34:01] like you talk to this NPC somewhere in this random spot,

[00:34:04] and then it would activate a quest line,

[00:34:05] but you didn't need to do it in a sense.

[00:34:08] - But I don't know.

[00:34:09] I don't even know if there, it wasn't even that.

[00:34:11] It's my memory.

[00:34:12] I don't know.

[00:34:12] I just feel like there was some stuff you could do

[00:34:15] that was kind of just side fun, like the Golden Saucer.

[00:34:17] That's exactly what that was.

[00:34:19] You just head up in there, you do some snowboarding,

[00:34:22] you know, you can box in some side games,

[00:34:24] some chocobos racing, you do some bedding.

[00:34:27] - I spun up the original.

[00:34:28] I spun up the original lot too long ago,

[00:34:30] and I was like, God.

[00:34:32] - Yeah, it's rough.

[00:34:32] - It's so rough.

[00:34:33] - Yeah, I'm all.

[00:34:34] - It's rough.

[00:34:35] - I would never go back.

[00:34:37] - No, I play a PlayStation 1 game.

[00:34:39] - I can't.

[00:34:40] - My friend can't.

[00:34:41] - Thrillhouse sent me, he's playing for a specific reason.

[00:34:45] He went back to like revisit some Metal Gear stuff,

[00:34:47] like concept art, 'cause he's working on something right now.

[00:34:51] And he was playing the OG Metal Gear Solid on Switch.

[00:34:58] And he shows me a screenshot of it and I'm like, oh God.

[00:35:01] - Oh, I think they remake it.

[00:35:02] - I would never.

[00:35:04] - It did, yeah, for GameCube.

[00:35:05] - Oh, for Game of the Twin Snakes, they mean.

[00:35:07] - Well, they did, which is what I played,

[00:35:08] 'cause I was like, that's what I mean.

[00:35:10] If I'm gonna play a version of the first game,

[00:35:13] it's gonna be Twin Snakes.

[00:35:14] It's not, I'm not going back and playing Metal Gear Solid.

[00:35:17] And he just sent me a picture and I was like, oh God.

[00:35:19] (laughing)

[00:35:20] - He loves that.

[00:35:21] - He loves going and seeing the original mechanics

[00:35:24] and I'm just like, the original mechanics were terrible.

[00:35:26] I came in with these nice eyes to spend, and it's like this.

[00:35:28] You can't even see the eyes.

[00:35:30] (laughing)

[00:35:31] - And his face is just like a white pixel.

[00:35:33] - Yeah.

[00:35:34] - With like a couple of dimples.

[00:35:37] - How do you do the first boss there

[00:35:39] where you have to switch the controller

[00:35:41] into the second floor?

[00:35:42] - I don't know how they do that.

[00:35:42] - I don't know how they do it.

[00:35:43] - And the new ones.

[00:35:45] I have no idea.

[00:35:46] - What the hell, man?

[00:35:47] - What the hell did I do?

[00:35:48] - Apparently.

[00:35:49] - That was epic.

[00:35:50] - Apparently, I'm tangenting.

[00:35:50] I'm doing a side tangent here, but I just,

[00:35:52] now that Metal Gear's up, I wanted to tell you guys this,

[00:35:55] but Matt was telling me that there's a,

[00:35:57] he sent me a link.

[00:35:58] There's a cutscene in a Metal Gear game

[00:35:59] where they call you on your codec.

[00:36:00] I think it's the first game.

[00:36:02] And the game detects whether or not

[00:36:04] you're using a stereo or mono audio system.

[00:36:08] And it's like, when you're in one of the boss fights,

[00:36:10] I don't remember who, but they're in a helicopter

[00:36:12] and they're like, "Snake, if you hear the helicopter

[00:36:14] "getting closer, 'cause it's in stereo, right?"

[00:36:16] Then that's when you know to an attack or whatever.

[00:36:19] And then snakes like something about a mono TV

[00:36:22] and they're like, "You're using mono?"

[00:36:24] And it's just like, and it's like their way

[00:36:27] of reconciling the fact that you don't have stereo.

[00:36:29] So if not, don't worry about it.

[00:36:31] And the curtain's like, just because you don't have

[00:36:33] a stereo TV doesn't mean you're not a good person

[00:36:35] or something like that, it's so weird.

[00:36:37] - Imagine you were like, "How could they?"

[00:36:39] - I don't think they could possibly do that

[00:36:41] 'cause it was two audio cables.

[00:36:42] - I don't know, but it could detect

[00:36:43] what was on your memory card.

[00:36:45] You remember it with Psycho Manus because of the--

[00:36:46] - It was swapping.

[00:36:47] - So if it could do that, it knew if you were

[00:36:49] on stereo or mono apparently.

[00:36:50] - Could be a man. - Thought that was fun.

[00:36:52] - Imagine being 12, understanding all this shit.

[00:36:54] You're like, "What the fuck is happening?"

[00:36:56] (laughing)

[00:36:57] - What is he reading my mind?

[00:36:58] I just want to fucking kill this guy.

[00:37:00] That's what I want.

[00:37:01] - Yeah.

[00:37:02] - Yeah.

[00:37:02] - But anyway. - Yes.

[00:37:04] Final Fantasy 7 Remake looks great on the OLED.

[00:37:06] Really nice, very nice.

[00:37:08] I played it on the other TV last time.

[00:37:10] Big improvement, obviously.

[00:37:12] The material glows so sweet on the QD OLED.

[00:37:16] It was made for games.

[00:37:18] This TV was just made for this.

[00:37:20] Like, you know on your sword, it shows your material.

[00:37:22] - Yeah. - While it's on your back.

[00:37:24] - They just like glowing.

[00:37:25] - Pop out.

[00:37:26] - Oh, man. - I'm gonna blow up.

[00:37:27] - That's sick.

[00:37:27] - It's really fucking nice.

[00:37:29] But yeah, that's what I've been doing and I'm...

[00:37:31] I don't know how long it is.

[00:37:32] Do you guys know how long it is?

[00:37:33] I'm chapter nine.

[00:37:34] How many chapters are in this game?

[00:37:36] - 17, I want to say.

[00:37:39] - 17.

[00:37:40] - That sounds about right.

[00:37:40] - I think something like that.

[00:37:41] - I think something like that.

[00:37:42] - In 2018 while I'm there, yeah.

[00:37:43] That sounds right.

[00:37:44] - Yeah, I'm only halfway.

[00:37:45] Fuck.

[00:37:46] - It's only nine hours.

[00:37:47] I thought it was like 45 hours at fucking game.

[00:37:49] - Game, though.

[00:37:50] - Game is very long.

[00:37:51] - The first one?

[00:37:52] - It's like 40 hours.

[00:37:53] - I think it'd be in 30.

[00:37:56] I think it'd be in 30.

[00:37:56] - It would definitely be in 40.

[00:37:57] - It would definitely be before a rebirth, but.

[00:37:58] - Yeah, you got it.

[00:38:00] - All right.

[00:38:00] - Well, that's what I'll be doing.

[00:38:02] - That's what I'll be doing.

[00:38:03] - All right, all right.

[00:38:04] - Is that it?

[00:38:04] - That's it.

[00:39:30] - Yeah, it's cool. - But thank you.

[00:39:31] Thank you so much.

[00:39:33] - Now, let's go to today's topic.

[00:39:35] - Pal world. - Mm-hmm.

[00:39:38] - Pal world.

[00:39:39] We're gonna bring all the controversies in,

[00:39:42] and we're gonna talk about them.

[00:39:44] We're gonna, why people are sending death threats?

[00:39:47] People are sending death threats?

[00:39:48] - Yeah, they had some death threats.

[00:39:51] - People are calling it a rip-off.

[00:39:53] We're gonna talk about the similarities,

[00:39:55] or what's not a similarities, what is,

[00:39:58] why other games getting hit so hard with rip-off tags,

[00:40:02] or why aren't other games getting hit so hard

[00:40:04] with rip-off tags?

[00:40:05] When there are tons of other monster-catching games,

[00:40:08] you know, is it jealousy?

[00:40:10] Is it because it's not an official Pokemon

[00:40:12] release that everybody wanted?

[00:40:14] You know, let's talk, let's talk.

[00:40:16] Now, what is pal world?

[00:40:19] - Well, I can cover that here.

[00:40:22] - What doesn't know what pal world is?

[00:40:23] - Yeah, what is pal world, you ask?

[00:40:25] Pal world is an action-adventure survival game

[00:40:28] by a Japanese developer called Pocket Pair.

[00:40:32] This game is set in an open world populated

[00:40:34] with animal-like creatures known as pals.

[00:40:37] The player can battle and capture pals

[00:40:40] in order to use them for base-building,

[00:40:41] traversal, and combat, and mating.

[00:40:44] Don't forget the mating.

[00:40:46] - Can't forget the--

[00:40:47] - And the butchering and the eating.

[00:40:49] - Yeah, I was about to say slaughtering too.

[00:40:50] - Don't forget that, don't forget that, ridiculous.

[00:40:54] Anyway, that is what pal world is.

[00:40:56] Were you guys expecting this?

[00:40:58] Like, this was, like, we saw it in the past.

[00:41:02] I saw a few screenshots and all of that.

[00:41:04] I was like, "Oh man, this looks hilarious."

[00:41:06] - Well, we've been waiting for a while.

[00:41:07] - Yeah, we've been waiting for a while.

[00:41:09] And we thought it was gonna be super, super fun,

[00:41:12] because of how stupid and ridiculous it looked.

[00:41:14] - When they initially showcased this game about what?

[00:41:17] Two or three years ago.

[00:41:19] - Yeah, yeah.

[00:41:19] - We were like, yeah, this looks ridiculous.

[00:41:22] Like, this is a Pokemon rip off 100%, right?

[00:41:25] And no one bad at night.

[00:41:26] Everyone just kind of like forgot about it, right?

[00:41:28] - Yeah.

[00:41:29] - And then when it came out, it blew everyone like,

[00:41:34] it just kind of like, it was a sensation of like,

[00:41:37] "Hey, everyone needs to play this game."

[00:41:39] And I didn't think this would hit really.

[00:41:43] I didn't think this would be something as like a phenomenon

[00:41:45] as how it is now, right?

[00:41:47] I just thought it was gonna probably, you know,

[00:41:49] make some headlines here and there,

[00:41:50] but then all of a sudden people were just talking

[00:41:52] about it left and right, about how it's being a rip off,

[00:41:55] how it takes like literal assets from Pokemon.

[00:41:58] And it just became, like, I don't know.

[00:42:03] It was like everyone was raving about it,

[00:42:05] but at the same time, there was a divide

[00:42:07] of like, people loving it.

[00:42:09] And then the other half was like,

[00:42:10] everyone's just shitting on it.

[00:42:12] And it was just a very interesting week

[00:42:14] when that came out, right?

[00:42:16] - Yeah, I think, so what records do we have here?

[00:42:19] Let's get some stats here.

[00:42:21] Do you have these Nate?

[00:42:22] Do you have these?

[00:42:23] - Jamie, can we pull it up?

[00:42:23] - Jamie?

[00:42:24] - As of January 24th, when I was writing the notes,

[00:42:28] all time peak concurrent players count topped

[00:42:31] 1.86 million players.

[00:42:34] Playing concurrently.

[00:42:36] That is second only to PUBG,

[00:42:40] which I think PUBG had 2 million, or something like that.

[00:42:44] - Wow, PUBG had--

[00:42:45] - Yeah, PUBG was huge for a little bit.

[00:42:48] But just recently, a couple of days ago,

[00:42:51] it hit 19 million copies, 19 million players across,

[00:42:56] 7 million on Game Pass, whatever the math is

[00:43:02] for the other on stuff.

[00:43:03] - Well, well.

[00:43:04] (laughing)

[00:43:06] - But we got it on Game Pass because,

[00:43:11] I got it, and it dropped on Game Pass.

[00:43:13] Like we weren't expecting that.

[00:43:15] That was sweet.

[00:43:17] - Yeah, I had it on my Steam wish list, ready to go.

[00:43:19] - Ready to go.

[00:43:20] - And then they said there was coming to Game Pass,

[00:43:22] I was like, "Damn."

[00:43:23] - Okay, but you can't play cross-play with Steam yet.

[00:43:27] - Yeah.

[00:43:28] - And there's no dedicated servers on the Game Pass version.

[00:43:31] Let's dive into that, like the differences.

[00:43:35] So there was a lot of people saying,

[00:43:37] you know, it's not the same build,

[00:43:39] it's not the same version.

[00:43:41] Steam has more features, Xbox is lagging behind,

[00:43:45] et cetera, et cetera.

[00:43:46] While this is true, the build of the game

[00:43:49] has to be different for those platforms.

[00:43:51] So the version numbering will probably never sync up

[00:43:54] until it's cross-platform.

[00:43:55] So you could see version 1.67 on Steam,

[00:44:00] and Xbox could be a completely different number, right?

[00:44:03] When they do get parody, they should be.

[00:44:06] Soon they should be capitalizing on this and keep the train moving right they can't have this stop

[00:44:11] But steam yeah has dedicated servers you can play up to 32 players with your friends that is incredible

[00:44:18] I couldn't imagine having like 16 players in a world

[00:44:21] slaughtering

[00:44:23] Pokemon pals and like you know all this stuff building bases when I die

[00:44:30] Yeah, I'm going to scale if there's that many people

[00:44:35] Like in a guild or they always the same oh, I don't know

[00:44:38] I wouldn't be super easy if you just had like well

[00:44:42] We could have tested that if you go fight a boss hard if you go fight a boss

[00:44:45] And then three of us jumping with you is it tougher?

[00:44:48] Probably I would assume so me. I had to scale. I don't know cuz me and I had Pam with me and I just

[00:44:55] Demolished one of that's what we did today, and I was wondering the same thing

[00:44:59] I don't think they scale or they're not very um like you would have to change

[00:45:03] Which you can do you can go into your world settings and change the yeah the difficulty. There's a bunch of difficulty sliders

[00:45:09] Which is really really cool. I like that for anywhere from you know xp multiplier to how hard?

[00:45:17] The pals hit you how much damage they they take they do you can turn off those stupid raids that are very annoying

[00:45:24] Because every time we got rated it was when I was spinning up the world

[00:45:30] It's the thing I was like, you know, I want to play pal world spin it up there

[00:45:34] I'm gonna go on and if you I'm like, okay, I jump on I don't have any intention of playing

[00:45:37] I'll just you leave it on and go do something else and then I get rated by this huge rickin group of of

[00:45:43] Pals that are my level

[00:45:46] So like he can't even help me at all cuz I'm like higher than him and they just destroy everything

[00:45:51] I was like I just came on to freakin turn this happened every single time every time every time

[00:45:57] And then it always would happen when I go to shut the world off

[00:45:59] So I finally turned that off on the world is no more raids they can fuck off with that

[00:46:10] I really like the sliders and there may be some content coming that will be coming out with

[00:46:14] Having to do with those sliders, but what else we got here? Well, I want to hear is

[00:46:19] Like everyone's kind of like just input of how they've been how they've been playing and their little experiences first before we jump through everything

[00:46:26] I I've been playing this game solo, right? So I haven't played with Rob. I haven't done

[00:46:33] I mean, I'm playing over the past right now, so it is

[00:46:36] Interesting first few hours diving in I'm like this is

[00:46:41] Okay, I see the resemblance with Pokemon obviously, but then you get a little bit of breath of the wild in there

[00:46:47] Yeah, yeah, there's so many like and then a lot of people

[00:46:51] I've never played this game, but arc is obviously a big factor in this game as well

[00:46:55] so the game takes a lot of

[00:46:58] good

[00:46:59] Aspects from others other titles and just kind of messaged it into one, but it some people are like oh, it's not really original

[00:47:06] Well, yes and no, I feel like it is in a sense of like the way they

[00:47:11] They present it to you. I feel like it is somewhat original in a way, right?

[00:47:15] You know what I mean, it's because it has some things from other from many different things like right every other game ever

[00:47:23] Yeah, everything is like new slash we're not the only gaming podcast out there, right?

[00:47:28] So it's like I

[00:47:35] Don't understand that that logic there, but regardless playing the game. I was like man

[00:47:39] I was I wasn't hooked initially up until I

[00:47:43] Started capturing my house, right and then I started building my base

[00:47:48] Once I started building my base and started like okay now. I need wood now

[00:47:52] I need you know, I need stone and I'm like cuz those are the type of games

[00:47:55] I'm not really that I don't really gravitate towards I'm not really like the building type of

[00:47:59] Gamer but for some reason this has like a surface level to it where it doesn't really you don't need to do this

[00:48:05] But at the same time you can and it's it's at a surface level where you don't have to dive in too much with it

[00:48:12] Right, I was doing for you and your past before you. Yeah. Yeah, I think that's huge

[00:48:15] So that that that really got me and I'm like alright this game has potential and then sure enough

[00:48:21] I told Rob it was like I had a day off and

[00:48:24] Five hours just flew by and I was still playing this game. I'm like I'm still in my like my pajamas

[00:48:31] I'm like showering. I was like what the fuck is happening right now. I think I never do this

[00:48:34] So yeah, it definitely it definitely got me

[00:48:38] I was like yeah, this game is this great and it hooked me

[00:48:41] I definitely wanted to go back and I definitely want to keep playing so I

[00:48:44] So far from what I played it's phenomenal

[00:48:49] Nice nice. Yeah, that's that's

[00:48:51] That's accurate. I'd say that's accurate also. I love your video of how high you guys can get

[00:48:58] Stupid tower

[00:49:05] Nate had this dumb tower made he's like this will help us defend the base with for the raids

[00:49:14] And I was like how will that do that?

[00:49:16] I'm like looking up at it like what is that gonna do and he made like a house on the top of a giant tower?

[00:49:20] And it wasn't really that high and I was like how I can be build this tower

[00:49:25] I think I think we should make a video of this and that was excellent

[00:49:29] So I did it by myself and I told him to jump on and he kind of jumped on later

[00:49:32] It was very fucking stupid, but yeah, it's very funny

[00:49:35] Like just you could actually I was actually impressed of how far you could see the world that high up

[00:49:43] Well, I couldn't see the draw far the draw distance. Yeah, it's yeah

[00:49:47] Yeah, I did just my freaking settings to see that stupid tree

[00:49:49] God either until you change your setting. Oh, yeah, you're right

[00:49:54] It just hops up and I'm like, oh, okay, there's a giant tree

[00:50:00] But I don't think you can you can't even get to that tree. So it's not actually part of the game. Yeah

[00:50:06] So I probably

[00:50:08] Am the person that has a least amount of hours in this game here. I don't know

[00:50:12] When I first

[00:50:14] Buddy I

[00:50:18] Think I've played a collective of maybe three hours in this game. Okay about the same

[00:50:22] Okay

[00:50:25] Because when I first boot up the game. I was kind of like

[00:50:27] Overwhelmed with everything else kind of going on

[00:50:30] I was like, okay, I got a build and I got to capture pat pals

[00:50:33] But the pals also do stuff for you and they'll have their own abilities

[00:50:37] And I was just like I'm naked and I'm hungry and

[00:50:40] They're just so much going up

[00:50:42] So they're like go capture a bunch of their boat. Well, how do I capture them?

[00:50:50] Well, you gotta get balls. Well, how do I get the ball to make them? Well, I make them we gotta get you know

[00:50:54] Yeah, they're just like a giant chain of yeah, yeah of things that you have to create that's the carrot on the stick, right?

[00:51:01] Right, right. So because I'm you're used to again Pokemon where they let you go in like here's 10 poke balls

[00:51:09] Go capture a level five Pokemon and it's like baby steps where this beters like push you off the ledge like all right fly. Yeah go

[00:51:16] Which I appreciate the game too. So I spent a little over

[00:51:21] You know two hours out and then that's one and start hooking me right I played today and I was

[00:51:28] Oh, you get to level up your base now. I get a spear now. I get some clothes. Okay, I actually look like a human now, right?

[00:51:36] I'm able to actually damage these these pals and make it easier and be well me getting obliterated

[00:51:40] I like like the little slick animations that you have when you're like attacking where in Pokemon like legends archaeologists

[00:51:46] You couldn't do that. All you could do is just dodge and throw a Pokemon throw like powder at them. Yeah, like

[00:51:51] so

[00:51:53] This game to me feels like a more elevated better legend arc is I think that's what legends arc is was like trying to be

[00:52:01] But it was missing so many of these components

[00:52:03] And I really do appreciate what they did in this game and at one point

[00:52:08] I was really worried about my pal. There's the little it was a little level two ones a cat one, right?

[00:52:12] And he's in the base. He's working. You know doing this thing and he's like he's hungry and starving

[00:52:18] I was like, all right, it's fine. I'll get him food and then I like kind of forget about it

[00:52:23] I mean he's like he's hungry. He's starving his eyes are bloodshot

[00:52:29] And you look at him walking around like

[00:52:31] He's a bed I'm like what is going on here like yeah, you got it. You didn't make him a bed

[00:52:45] and make him a bed so that I'm just like going through this stuff and

[00:52:48] and in the small span of an hour to three hours

[00:52:54] I was so concerned about my pals at the end of us like if he dies

[00:52:58] He dies. I don't know

[00:53:00] Didn't really proceed you didn't do anything. You just kind of like focused on your big I was in your pal

[00:53:08] That was it exactly. I didn't really progress in the store. I didn't do any of that

[00:53:11] I was just like having a ball and that's why it's a beauty of it. So you just chill it and having a good time

[00:53:15] So well, there's not really much story is there

[00:53:18] If you got to read those old journals you find you just have to go find these little journals like there's like no

[00:53:23] Story you go find them if you want it, but yeah the first time I dropped into the world

[00:53:28] Like you said, Rob. I was naked hungry didn't know what was going on and I didn't know you

[00:53:34] You know you killed these guys these pals I was like I thought you just knock them out

[00:53:40] And then I was just knocking them out to see if I could capture them and then I ended up killing

[00:53:43] Oh, yeah, like just a fucking meat just slapped out of nowhere. I was like what oh my god

[00:53:48] He's dead like it. Just it just don't or like Holy shit. It was just oh

[00:53:52] my god, so it was just

[00:53:57] It's funny how the game doesn't tell you anything, but you slowly start understanding things little by little as you just you know

[00:54:05] Try things out, you know

[00:54:07] So like how you did Rob you started like you finally understood how to get food

[00:54:11] You understood how to make the little polka balls like those were all things that you just the game doesn't tell you

[00:54:17] But it just it kind of like point you and find it yourself. You find it for yourself

[00:54:21] Yeah, right Chris how much have you played have you done one hour?

[00:54:24] I

[00:54:26] Funny enough, that's our next episode. Oh, yes, I

[00:54:29] I did do an hour and then I played on game pass and then someone gifted to me on steam

[00:54:36] Oh, wow, and and then so we ended up playing on that, but I I feel like this is my like alcoholic alcoholics

[00:54:44] A long anonymous thing I've cut cold turkey on the game

[00:54:47] Because like the problem is with these games with these kind of survival games for me is I'm like

[00:54:53] Rushing so much, especially when I'm playing with other people like on their servers

[00:54:57] I'm rushing so much to try to keep up with them

[00:54:59] I was kind of like doing my own thing and then everyone else is like gilding up like

[00:55:03] Creating guilds and like doing all this crazy stuff that I see you guys with your freaking fortress. I'm like my god

[00:55:09] What am I gonna do?

[00:55:11] I literally have a bed with just like a roof over it. That's all

[00:55:16] It was just it was just a

[00:55:22] Stop really it was and I was just building like you know by had my I had my pals like doing their thing

[00:55:27] Should I be really smarting about it?

[00:55:29] But then but then I just couldn't keep up and I just get so fresh. I'm like I'm done playing this game

[00:55:33] You playing with

[00:55:37] Yeah, it was dedicated by about

[00:55:41] Six other people. Oh, wow. Oh cool. Yeah, and but they weren't helping you out

[00:55:47] They weren't giving you stuff. That was the other thing - everyone's like. Oh, yeah, join me Gilman

[00:55:51] I'm not joining your guild. Like anyone else enjoy my guild. Go ahead, but I'm not doing things on my own

[00:55:55] So I was just kind of doing it was fun. Don't get me wrong

[00:56:00] And the one thing also appreciated was kind of that that starting checklist. Mmm. Yeah, I thought that was

[00:56:07] Yeah, yeah, yeah, that was really helpful, especially

[00:56:12] Because a lot of these like I played art for like a hot second and there was no tutorial at all

[00:56:19] Yeah, like we played that when it like first came out. Yeah, I love very little

[00:56:23] But then but like so it was good in that way and

[00:56:27] Yeah, I also had kind of like the same shock and horror when I killed my first pal

[00:56:34] This one was it mine was a sheep. I killed the chicken chicken. Oh, I slid like 15 chickens

[00:56:48] Yeah

[00:56:50] But it was like

[00:56:52] It's just it's it's it's just fascinating. It's like someone just took the

[00:56:57] The MPAA or like the whatever the ESRB and like threw it out the window to make this game because it was like

[00:57:05] Yeah, let's do this. Let's see what what Pokemon game we could make without yeah, Nintendo's kind of straight

[00:57:11] Or protective cover, right? Yeah

[00:57:17] While you're growing up right like you're growing up with Pokemon and you're going through all these games and you're just like you

[00:57:22] Want a little bit more but yeah, they can't give you more as you grow up right?

[00:57:26] They've got to keep it in their box because it's not for you like Rob was saying on one of your episodes guys

[00:57:32] It's like it's not it's not for adults

[00:57:34] Right so the adults have to play in that kid box

[00:57:38] When you play Pokemon you've got to bring your mind to set you had a right your mind to set down to like

[00:57:44] To play in that box and with this game I find it's just like forget the box. Yeah, do do what you want build your base

[00:57:51] Build as many pokeballs you want go kill as many things as you possibly want

[00:57:57] But your people if you want like catch them butcher them sell their parts like

[00:58:03] But yeah, but is it still kid friendly would you consider Paul ask Chris?

[00:58:09] Would you let your kids play this Chris? Maybe if I mess with the sliders? Yeah, okay?

[00:58:14] All right, I don't know like what there's no I mean you killed the little creature

[00:58:18] It's a good life lesson too, right? It's like well kid this is this is what happens when you

[00:58:22] Tamagotchi taught me that 30 years ago true it also taught me that it could shit all over itself if you

[00:58:40] There's no shit in the game, but there's some art

[00:58:42] Because I don't buy the I don't buy the whole thing with you know the Pokemon company giving like putting Pokemon in a box

[00:58:57] Right like I understand that you know, I understand the whole thing about that, right?

[00:59:02] But the way power does it if you remove the guns like the gun component from it, right?

[00:59:09] It it's it's a Pokemon game. It's like it's a it's a game that Pokemon should have been right like it just

[00:59:15] Has all those great elements and components that would have elevated the Pokemon games like I think of it as like I don't know

[00:59:23] like Disney movies or like

[00:59:25] Shrek, right like that's obviously dedicated for children, but

[00:59:29] Adults have find the humor in that as well and they do it very like strategically

[00:59:35] So that joys it right and so it's they could have found a way if they really wanted to do it

[00:59:42] You know, I mean this is like the Winnie the Pooh horror movie

[00:59:46] Pokemon right yeah, that's this basically what this is basically. Yeah, I think that's got I think it's a huge

[00:59:55] Part of why it's successful like if you think about it

[00:59:59] You have all the people who are fans of Pokemon growing out for the last 30 years that kind of were like

[01:00:05] You know what? I'm not I'm not playing that anymore. It's just for kids. You know what I mean?

[01:00:10] But then you have like kind of those people

[01:00:12] Who see this and be like, whoa, what is this? This is you know, this is like something more

[01:00:18] Something that that is kind of like you said inside maybe their box

[01:00:22] Their box outside of the Pokemon box

[01:00:25] But that could be very much why it's so successful. I mean, it's not

[01:00:33] 132 million copies sold of fucking scarlet and violet right right? That's just the size of

[01:00:40] Pokemon, but I mean it is pretty damn impressive

[01:00:44] What the numbers, but I think that's a big part of it Rob you're gonna say something

[01:00:50] Yeah, I was gonna say, you know, do you think that?

[01:00:53] Scarlet and Viola being so butt cheeks helped this game out quite a bit. Yes, I think so right. Yeah, you know

[01:01:02] If we actually got a decent Pokemon game, do you think power would have been as successful? I even I even loved violet

[01:01:09] It was just so difficult to play because of how shitty it was running. Yeah, you know, I stopped

[01:01:14] I like the game like I was able to look past it like I I finished the polka decks

[01:01:21] I finished the game the online play was dog shit awful

[01:01:25] So I couldn't do any of that which is like the end game what you're supposed to do

[01:01:29] I just couldn't do it because the connections are so bad

[01:01:32] But but yeah, I mean it

[01:01:35] If I don't know if book bonds really that word here. They sold 130 million copies. Yeah, that's all that shit

[01:01:42] They give a shit. Yeah, cuz there's a there's a trillion kids. They don't care

[01:01:46] They don't care but like the other thing is other than the guns. It's a proper multiplayer game. True. Yes, right. Yes. Okay, so like

[01:01:55] Yeah, you can join your friend and scarlet and run around on your weird bikes, but like this is like

[01:02:00] This is like farming. This is base building

[01:02:05] murdering

[01:02:07] They don't have fishing. They don't have fishing, which is strange. They might it's a little access later. I'm just a little pal

[01:02:13] water based

[01:02:15] Characters like there's nothing in the water. Yeah, there's sometimes there is but not in like the ocean like outside when you go into like

[01:02:22] Little rivers and there's a little lakes. Yeah, it's not it's not a lot

[01:02:25] But again, yeah early access. I did see you but a little elephant

[01:02:29] That it's like a teapot. It's like a tell T TF into something. I saw that in a little lake or a little stream

[01:02:36] Horrible. Yeah, there's like these little rays. There's also there's something like chill it or something when the level 11 boss

[01:02:44] That's bought in our map today, and I tried to fucking capture. I was like, oh cool a boss. It's only level 11

[01:02:50] I'm like, you know 1213. I can go grab it. So I went and fought it and my stupid pal killed it

[01:02:56] So I didn't even get to capture it

[01:02:58] Dick

[01:03:03] Do you got a random I know and I should have pulled it in and I forgot normally I'm like, okay, I'm about you know

[01:03:09] Quarter health left. I'll pull in my pal so it doesn't overdo it

[01:03:13] And I'll just kind of poke it with my spear a little bit

[01:03:15] But this time I forgot I was like damn it because I don't know what happens a lot and it's even worse

[01:03:19] It's even worse when you play multiplayer. Yeah, cuz you got like four

[01:03:23] Start pulling back like halfway down there. They're healthy. I've had a thing is the tight matching is really cool, too

[01:03:34] Cuz you do tight match. So if you're having trouble and

[01:03:37] I'm pretty sure they're the same as Pokemon. So if you know your your tight matches in Pokemon, you can apply them here

[01:03:43] Yeah, and they will help you fight bosses. So do that for sure

[01:03:48] I've been doing that and it's been much easier. Okay, what did you guys do with the first boss?

[01:03:52] Cuz I tried her once and I just got my ass. Yeah, me too. Caked. So I was like, all right

[01:03:58] We all did at the same time. I think me Pam and Nate at work. We did we did three we had three people. So okay

[01:04:05] Yeah, we just kind of tied him around. Yeah, it was pretty hard

[01:04:08] We came right

[01:04:09] Cuz we didn't have I don't think we had any ranged weapons. Did we oh I might have had a bow and arrow

[01:04:15] I think I had a bow and arrow. So I just we we kited him around and I used the triple shot bow and

[01:04:20] You have to hide by in the pillars when he does his lazy. Yep. Yep

[01:04:24] So we just did that

[01:04:25] I think they were both down and I was the last one alive and I had to kill him because I couldn't I couldn't capture him

[01:04:30] But yeah, it was a we scraped by I tried soloing that we're probably you can capture you can capture that

[01:04:36] That boss's power. No, I tried. I tried. Oh, yeah

[01:04:40] I tried today when I was just comparing it too quickly

[01:04:49] It's so different like those even just that boss versus the Arcius bosses or the rcs bosses

[01:04:56] You know how they go into the little arena and you fight the one-on-one like you're shooting like you're throwing powder at them and dodging

[01:05:02] We make them happy you have to make them happy and then he's happy to get into your pokeball or whatever

[01:05:08] Like that and just and the mechanics were a lot more and these guys just made this game

[01:05:17] Like they had right the devs are like brand new devs. Let's go through the history of these devs, okay?

[01:05:22] Yes, please. Yes, okay, so the pocket Paris video game developer headquartered in I'm not even getting somewhere in Japan

[01:05:28] Tokyo Japan it is known for craftopia. Have you ever played craftopia Chris? Did you play craftopia? It was on?

[01:05:35] Game pass as well was it dog shit?

[01:05:38] It's like it's like they made craftopia and they're like oh god. This is terrible. Let's just

[01:05:45] May like band and shit had the idea like oh, let's add pocket monsters in here and then they made pal world

[01:05:51] Okay, so I think that's how it like started

[01:05:54] So they have another game that you just crapped a bit. They haven't updated it

[01:05:58] And I don't think they touched it ever since I think it's like a second survival game - yeah, it's the exact same thing

[01:06:04] Almost it's very very close. Just no Pokemon in here. Okay

[01:06:09] That's really I was doing a little bit of digging and I read they weren't even game devs

[01:06:14] Before so there was one guy who knew how to use Unreal Engine 4 like one guy

[01:06:20] And then he's at them and I was like what the fuck is this any like hired a handful of people and then when they got to the

[01:06:27] Points when using guns no one knew how to like implement had like proper mechanics for

[01:06:32] Shooting and reloading guns and stuff so they found some guy on the internet who was like fooling around with it

[01:06:38] Personally with like little shitty games that he was making and they hired this guy to do like the gun mechanics in pal world

[01:06:44] And he's like straight out of high school. Yeah, so like that convenience

[01:06:48] Convenience right at high school. Yeah. FBS experience like

[01:06:52] If this is what drives me bonkers if you can find a handful of fucking nobody's

[01:07:00] Okay, and a guy that works at a convenience store that has just been doing on his home computer and you can make a game like this

[01:07:07] Okay, you can make a game like this and sell night or have 19 million players

[01:07:12] Like I can't imagine just what Nintendo and Poke World

[01:07:18] It's exactly it like that's exactly it's okay

[01:07:29] It's crazy and like I read I was on the reddit knows

[01:07:35] Running through it and this guy fate Chan 84

[01:07:38] He says to me this just shows that all that matters is what gamers knew all along if you give us a good gameplay

[01:07:47] Loop that's fucking it. You don't have to reinvent the wheel. You don't need the best graphics of all time

[01:07:52] Literally just make some good gameplay

[01:07:54] It's honestly mind-boggling that a huge triple-a developer like the Pokemon can't grasp such a single fucking concept like a simple

[01:08:02] concept like that, you know

[01:08:04] They don't have to try anymore because they already have exactly it's just it's just negative

[01:08:09] It's just like but now it's complete. Yes, and they're like here you go. Yeah, they'll buy it right like

[01:08:15] It's like that. It's like the iPhone's right literally Apple comes out the same iPhone every year

[01:08:19] But it's just a little better and we're going to do it. We'll go to good

[01:08:22] Until until they steal tech and try to put it in their watches then get sued

[01:08:26] Yeah, yeah, take that I do want to piggyback off of you Nate and I

[01:08:33] Feel like this game is having a similar success story to a game called vanheim. Are you familiar? Yes?

[01:08:39] I love that we played yeah, we played I must have had 200 hours. Yeah, we had a pretty sweet base in battle

[01:08:45] I'm - yeah, but that game kind of just

[01:08:48] Came in like it came out of nowhere and everyone's it's like this and it's sold like a crazy amount of other crafting like another

[01:08:56] Exactly the same, but you can catch the monsters. Mm-hmm, right so other than that was like a identical

[01:09:02] Is it just like this type of game that's crafting?

[01:09:05] progression type games that just are gonna blow up it's just gonna happen like what's just it's just a new flavor of what's

[01:09:11] Happening when I think happens because it happened in in Valheim when we all jumped in there was like six of us in Valheim and

[01:09:18] When we started playing it was a psych we got to get together again

[01:09:22] We got to get all we got to do this we got to get to that dungeon and that progression and that twinkie on a stick

[01:09:27] I don't like saying care on a stick cuz I would never chase a carrot

[01:09:30] Put a twinkie on us put a twinkie on a stick okay, and I'm chasing that all the time

[01:09:35] Oh, I got to get those next level arrows to beat these whatever

[01:09:38] But and it just keeps going and going and the other thing is the creative side kicks in and you're like trying to build your base and

[01:09:45] Have a sweet house and I could spend hours placing the logs

[01:09:50] Perfectly how I want the logs how that how my stairs look going into the house

[01:09:55] The chandelier's in the house like Valheim destroyed me for like two three months. It was unbelievable little twenty-dollar indie game

[01:10:03] Yeah, yeah, the one thing I will say I wish that these games did better

[01:10:07] What it is like the dungeon and the boss kind of things like if you had this whole thing

[01:10:14] With like some sick boss fights that that scale to your party

[01:10:19] You know what I mean and like that that had real cool mechanics and that dropped really sweet loot like yes

[01:10:26] Yeah, it would just be perfect. Yeah, it would just be perfect

[01:10:28] But like I feel like that's missing from most of these games like Valheim

[01:10:33] I don't know there was a couple bosses, but we kind of went and yeah

[01:10:37] Fought them and they were just kind of okay. We beat that I think there was only four bosses when we were playing anyway

[01:10:43] But yeah, that's the one thing that I think is kind of missing

[01:10:45] It's like there are bosses, but although we haven't really fought many of the we did I did two towers

[01:10:51] I think I've I have yet to do my second tower because I every time I go to play I have to craft a bazillion things before I

[01:10:58] Even go to adventure. Yeah, that's another thing

[01:11:00] I think I wish that it kind of shifted it a little less crafting a little bit less on the crafting a little bit more on the

[01:11:08] Dungeoning and the dungeon diving and then the boss fights. That's what I would like

[01:11:14] It's still early access, right? Yes, exactly Chris has hand up and kelve. Yeah

[01:11:20] I was at the mu button, but

[01:11:22] With with regards to combat and and there's another survival game that came out

[01:11:29] I think a little bit after Valheim called V rising and I think that's also I think it was I haven't played that one yet

[01:11:35] Yeah, that game is cool is really cool, but like it was it's another one of those games where I was like

[01:11:42] Again, I got like really into it and then I was like oh through this

[01:11:45] I'm never gonna get like gets that end level, but it is a really cool concept

[01:11:50] It's it and the combat and and the bosses early

[01:11:53] So that game is out cuz I did see it on the state of play it's out on PC. It looked like like diabolical is it game bass or just steam?

[01:11:59] I think steam I think steam steam, yeah

[01:12:02] The rising rising playing vampire so when we talk about this stuff like you talk about baseball

[01:12:09] Yeah, and the survival and all that

[01:12:11] without bosses

[01:12:13] You know what you have you have no guy

[01:12:16] That's why I played 60 hours of no man's sky building my base and doing all this shit

[01:12:22] And I'm like what the fuck am I doing this for yeah, there's nothing else where the there's no bosses

[01:12:27] There's no dungeons. You literally can't there's nothing else

[01:12:30] So I'm like I just literally dropped it

[01:12:32] Gold Turk had never played it again

[01:12:34] But they're coming out that with another game the no man's sky team that I think maybe will kind of be like this

[01:12:40] Oh, yeah, if you recall that from the what was that from game or maybe a game the game or yeah

[01:12:45] So we'll see what happens there. I don't trust them as far as I can throw them though because we know what happened

[01:12:51] Well, it's one planet this time though

[01:12:54] True, that's true. That is true. That is true. It's called light no fire. Is that what it's called light no fire? Yeah, correct

[01:13:02] So we'll see but but yeah like the the boss battles and the and the and the party

[01:13:08] The dungeon dialed elving that's what I that's what I like

[01:13:11] I'm not such a huge fan of the crafting, but I will do it

[01:13:15] You know if you give me that other stuff, you know give me a little

[01:13:17] gives me a reason to so I did I did a few of those like caves and

[01:13:22] You work through your cave and you do get to an end boss and he does drop something for you like a schematic or whatever

[01:13:29] I think you get to chests at the end. Yeah. Yeah, that's cool. It's not hard. You can catch them

[01:13:33] You can catch those yeah, and there's different Pokemon in there other than the ones that are in that area. So like if

[01:13:40] I keep saying pals pals in pals pals

[01:13:43] Just leave them out just overdub

[01:13:46] Pal every time I say yeah

[01:13:49] Use the AI to track all that but like you're like fighting all these pals and they're all the same

[01:13:55] But then when you go into the cave there's like three or four different kinds like oh

[01:13:59] This is where I get them and you go so like you have to go to the caves to check out to see if there's new pals there

[01:14:04] You know yadda yadda yadda. That was really cool. I really enjoyed that you want to talk about

[01:14:08] the whole

[01:14:11] Is this a rip off is this actually rip off and talk about this? Yeah, this is where we're gonna

[01:14:16] We might get some heat back and forth here some meat

[01:14:19] I'll go I don't think this is rip off. I don't care what anybody says

[01:14:24] This is it. Well, let me let me backtrack if they're taking assets from the Pokemon game, which I

[01:14:32] Don't know if you guys seen I've got some here

[01:14:35] Some of the videos and some of the screenshots here. It looks

[01:14:39] Pretty identical right right. I think some of those were like one guy admitted to

[01:14:45] Like scaling it up a bunch and kind of manipulating it before the he made the comparison

[01:14:51] So I don't know if those are legit and it's not even more so like the character models

[01:14:56] It's just the way they I know the height like they're like colors

[01:15:02] One to one to some colors the colors are huge. The colors is a big thing

[01:15:06] That's what I had written down here because like some you could say are copies

[01:15:09] But it's not it's not a copy of like one specific thing

[01:15:13] It's like the color scheme for that Robin quill is identical yes to ha ha lucha

[01:15:19] The Pokemon Halucha like the exact same colors orange like light brown and green

[01:15:25] identical, but Robin quills kind of model or

[01:15:29] Silhouette kind of looks like a charcadet or something else, you know what I mean?

[01:15:33] It's like they they mix them kind of together in this weird ways

[01:15:37] But here's the thing it's like I don't know I don't know that aspect

[01:15:41] I really don't understand how that they got away with it

[01:15:44] But why would Microsoft why would Xbox partner with them in any way knowing that this is

[01:15:50] It's like a kind of getting in that territory of like hang on this looks kind of sketchy like

[01:15:55] Now if they were gonna sue them. Oh, yeah, this would have been taken down like day one

[01:16:01] you know, I mean yeah, and I mean it's not even like and they're a Japanese company

[01:16:05] Yeah, so the fact that it's on game. There's no wall for them to be like not able to sue them

[01:16:11] They're they're written their own country. It's not like an international lawsuit or anything. It would just be if they're able to sue them

[01:16:17] And they're not having so so there it's there's two things here can Nintendo sue them can the Pokemon company sue them

[01:16:24] Absolutely. No, I don't think so and the other side of it is is this is this a ripoff of Pokemon and

[01:16:32] Again, it's it's like a

[01:16:35] It's a it's a hard it's hard to like really depict but I say no I know it looks

[01:16:40] Pretty pretty darn close to it. But again, we talked about Digimon. We talked about all these other yes

[01:16:45] Pokemon knockoffs that are pretty fucking close to the same thing, you know, yeah

[01:16:50] I mean like the gameplay is absolutely not a ripoff. I think it's the most but the most people were just

[01:16:56] Talking about the design of the I think of the pals. Yeah

[01:17:00] Daniel

[01:17:03] Yeah, I'm gonna have to agree with kelv in a sense that you know

[01:17:06] The thing about power world is that it's it's a base builder. It's got guns

[01:17:11] You know you as a character can attack things yourself as opposed to getting your creatures to do it for you

[01:17:18] I would say if anything yes

[01:17:20] Yu-Gi-Oh and all those are whatever the hell so sorry Digimon

[01:17:24] Was Yu-Gi-Oh one - is that another one?

[01:17:27] Was that yeah, that was okay? Well Digimon I'd say if anything Digimon is a great example of a far closer ripoff

[01:17:36] Then then power world just given power worlds nature like all the different avenues of the game

[01:17:43] It's like the thing about power worlds like the pals are one facet of it, you know, so yes the lot of the graphic a lot of the visuals are similar

[01:17:52] In terms of like, you know

[01:17:55] The what the pals look like their faces and all that stuff, but it's like it's like Facebook ripping off the winkle vise

[01:18:05] Idea, you know in har at harvard or whatever the hell it is

[01:18:07] So it's just kind of like I mean potato potato for billions of dollars and he did so it's not real like that

[01:18:14] But hey the verdict is not out yet. We don't know what's gonna happen the features not set

[01:18:21] So maybe there is a lawsuit coming who knows this is all very new and now this is not drawing a ten

[01:18:28] They should have done a game. Yeah, so they got a hundred thirty two million reasons why they don't need to sue these guys

[01:18:35] Disney would

[01:18:37] Disney would Disney hundred percent one

[01:18:39] Now I think before they go and make a game like this. They're gonna cover those bases

[01:18:45] They're gonna when you have a when you're building a game that has anything remotely close to Pokemon

[01:18:53] You're gonna talk to a lawyer first. I don't care if it's Lionel huts or the guy, you know that

[01:18:59] Whatever like you can go to him and you can say I'll pay your retainer. We'll talk about this

[01:19:04] And you tell me if Nintendo can sue the shit out of me, okay?

[01:19:08] There's trademark letters all those little kind of lawyers that knows that should be like a specific like trade

[01:19:13] Yeah, copyright lawyers and then if he's like, okay. No, I don't see how anyway, they could possibly sue you

[01:19:19] I believe you you're good to go you should be good. And then whenever you start making that money you hire that legal team

[01:19:25] I would be surprised. Yeah, I guess I'd be surprised though such a small team

[01:19:29] They heard a guy at a fucking convenience store is gonna go out and hire a copyright lawyer

[01:19:34] But you can you can talk to a copyright lawyer first you pay them a couple grand like you're gonna have to

[01:19:40] Just to get your ducks in a row you pay them a couple thousand bucks 5,000 bucks

[01:19:44] Just to sit there go through the entire thing and he'll do his research and he'll come back to you with

[01:19:49] You know do they have ground to sue you on what you have currently?

[01:19:54] No one was obvious to

[01:19:56] What's his name the guy works in a better call Saul

[01:20:09] But Xbox would require that as a step to collaborate and be on

[01:20:19] Xbox might be like you haven't consulted a lawyer. We're gonna need to do that then but

[01:20:24] They know it's gonna be on the game pass. That was just recently

[01:20:27] This has been in development for well. They probably that that's been set in stone for a while now

[01:20:33] I know you that much. Yeah, well I guess Microsoft would help them with development costs

[01:20:37] That's what the deal is right so they are in fact actually helping them now with a lot of the you know

[01:20:43] The the issues that we've encountered on the game past version. They're definitely gonna be stepping in optimizing the game

[01:20:51] So we're gonna see this game. It's selling selling game pass subscriptions right now, right?

[01:20:57] Yeah, it's crazy like it's true. I just spent $20 for the month cuz mine ran out

[01:21:01] I was gonna say I posted some some links here, but if you look at Nexomon, and you look at

[01:21:10] Pokemon just put examples right there, but so mon you can't

[01:21:16] They're all the same type of like monster you can't like you can't take that as you are like deep

[01:21:20] You can't draw anything like this type of thing. It's exactly right like

[01:21:24] It's yeah

[01:21:26] You could just see would be able to say the same for tandem

[01:21:28] You can say the same for Nexomon, say it's in the Digimon you can say and and if even if you look at the one

[01:21:33] The last look that I posted the Mewtwo looking guy that one's crazy

[01:21:35] That one is pretty close

[01:21:38] But I could totally see a little kid sketching like what do you think is a cool monster looking thing look like and you draw something like that

[01:21:46] right like

[01:21:47] Yes

[01:21:49] If it wasn't for like the colors in the direct comparisons that people are like literally people are like the haters are under Microsoft

[01:21:56] See like this put this is this is exactly the same. Yeah, this is exactly the same

[01:22:00] It's like well. No shit because like there's only so many things in like the animal kingdom exactly

[01:22:06] you could like so yeah, it's it's just to me they there's really no grounds for and

[01:22:12] You could say it for any shooter like any game you could say like well

[01:22:15] They took it from this game and was like well. Yeah, because it works. I don't know so

[01:22:20] I ran about it. Yeah, I had with Pokemon having over like a thousand monsters

[01:22:26] There's gonna be overlap right there's gonna be over like how can you make a monster game without stepping on some Pokemon toes?

[01:22:33] Like get those and they're gonna keep coming out with new monsters now that being said some of the latest Pokemon monster designs

[01:22:41] Are fucking terrible. Oh, yeah, okay ideas like they're running out of ideas now, you know like how are you supposed to?

[01:22:48] Like separate. They're doing food down. They're doing they're doing

[01:22:53] I mean the only argument like you could say is like go away from that art style

[01:22:58] Like do something a little bit different. Oh like what about like cuz like you could say like

[01:23:05] Bloodborne like do more like bloodborne like imagine all these monsters look like scary and like actual fucking yeah

[01:23:18] Monsters I was I was getting really dark about some ideas about like the game later on

[01:23:24] But like if you're able to build your own arenas and you win like you're able to like do like a mortal

[01:23:30] Kombat fatality on your on the other

[01:23:32] And then like put their head on a pike

[01:23:36] Like if you're gonna go if you're going to say you're not Pokemon the go full tilt like go

[01:23:52] Right make us believe it sell it. Yeah, you know, yeah, yeah, but like you can't you can't show me a picture of the wolf

[01:23:59] Pokemon, it's just a fucking wolf and then say you ripped off this Pokemon by making a wolf in your game

[01:24:06] Like go fuck yourself like

[01:24:08] Same thing the squirrel like okay dear. They're like look at these dirty exactly. Yeah, it's the same

[01:24:24] Good. Yeah, I get it. Yeah, I don't know man

[01:24:26] I think they they don't really have much to stand on as far as like oh can they sue?

[01:24:32] You know, can they sue this game or not or a pocket pair? Whatever they're called? I I

[01:24:37] Don't think they they're going to I don't think they're gonna have a chance and trying to even again one because they don't care

[01:24:45] Right and two they just wouldn't be able to win. That's not something that they can you know, they can kind of go forward

[01:24:51] I'll say this thing. I

[01:24:53] Guarantee you if this game sucked and what they're received well at all

[01:24:59] Pokemon wouldn't give a flying fuck. No. Yeah, they would not care only because it's successful. They're like, well, maybe we should

[01:25:08] Yeah, yeah, I think they just said silence is because I think they just said that to shut all these people up

[01:25:16] Yeah, to be honest. I was gonna say one thing that this game has that is a big deal that Pokemon doesn't have is the difficulty

[01:25:25] Sliders in the custom world. Yeah, you can completely customize your world like this is nothing like

[01:25:33] Pokemon the Pokemon will never do that like this one you can you can basically

[01:25:38] Control how fast you go through the game by increasing your XP or your damage or whatever you can completely tune everything

[01:25:46] Like they would never you can kind of you can adjust your stamina - I heard yeah

[01:25:51] You can pretty much stamina's up. There's a slider for a lot of shit. Yeah, that's like getting breath of wild

[01:25:57] Oh, I want a slider for my stamina. I want my stamina to not you know run out so much like they didn't do that

[01:26:04] Power world does, you know, that's it's not the same. It's a different game

[01:26:08] It's not the same. So here's the next

[01:26:11] This is a good segue into the next spot. The big question is why we're so people are so many people

[01:26:18] so eagerly

[01:26:21] Wanting to jump and discredit and hate and slander the game and the devs like it was so quick

[01:26:27] You know

[01:26:29] Was so quick to get there to the death threats even to their office where they had to come out with a tweet and saying

[01:26:34] Oh, we don't appreciate death threats to our dev development team like no shit

[01:26:39] Okay, no shit, but like why

[01:26:42] Why do you think or what?

[01:26:45] Group of people were like, why do they need to do this?

[01:26:51] Where are these coming from? Rob? What do you think?

[01:26:54] Real quick here. I think a part of it is

[01:26:57] People have a big attachment to Pokemon, right? Yeah, it's beloved right it is sacred to them

[01:27:05] Right, you have people that you know have giant walls behind them

[01:27:08] with just plushies and cards and all this stuff that it'd be fun trying

[01:27:14] If he moves a little bit to the left he has a bunch of poke balls right behind them

[01:27:21] And fight right pull I mean

[01:27:26] Anyways

[01:27:36] But essentially they're very protective of this IP right and it's been happening for it's been it's taken so many years for it

[01:27:44] to get to this point

[01:27:46] Now comes this player out of nowhere and are like you can't just do that

[01:27:51] You can't just come out of nowhere and step on our ground because this took a long time to get here

[01:27:57] Yeah, you know like you almost like cheated your way or pager way to get up here, whatever, right?

[01:28:02] You can't use a I right exactly you cheated to get to this point

[01:28:06] So we don't want you here and I think that is part of it. That's a good point. It's jealous

[01:28:12] - You should have the way to look at it though.

[01:28:14] - That's just a very shitty thing.

[01:28:16] - Hey, the gaming community can be very proud.

[01:28:17] - Like you're right, Patty.

[01:28:18] - Yeah, you're like, that's probably exactly

[01:28:20] how they look at it, but.

[01:28:21] - Well, the death threats are psychotic.

[01:28:23] Like there's no excuse for that.

[01:28:24] - Yeah, yeah.

[01:28:25] - None whatsoever, especially in, yes,

[01:28:27] in a gaming community where, you know,

[01:28:29] everybody should just love everybody, okay?

[01:28:32] But secondly.

[01:28:33] - Have you played Goldie?

[01:28:34] - Ivy.

[01:28:35] (laughing)

[01:28:36] - Well there, that's a whole other breed.

[01:28:38] (laughing)

[01:28:39] That's not even a video game.

[01:28:40] - Have you played it?

[01:28:41] - You played it in League of Legends?

[01:28:42] - League of Legends.

[01:28:43] - League of Legends.

[01:28:44] - No, I didn't play any game.

[01:28:45] - You guys know this.

[01:28:47] - Well, my other story about League and this,

[01:28:50] I can tell in a little bit.

[01:28:50] - There's a reason I quit those games, actually,

[01:28:52] because of that reason.

[01:28:54] - So, but I just, I think that a lot of people,

[01:28:57] like do you guys think it's because it's sort of,

[01:28:59] was like almost a, I don't know if it's perfect storm,

[01:29:03] but it's people just got triggered because

[01:29:05] when they see something that's so clearly derivative

[01:29:08] of a massive thing, maybe in kind of in line

[01:29:12] with what Rob said.

[01:29:13] It's like, they're just, they just got,

[01:29:16] maybe just so fed up in that moment.

[01:29:18] And they're just like, oh come on,

[01:29:19] like this is just Pokemon type thing,

[01:29:22] but with something a little different.

[01:29:23] Now I'm pissed, 'cause I got all triggered,

[01:29:25] 'cause it looks exactly the same,

[01:29:27] and people just think they can make whatever they want,

[01:29:29] and it's like, nothing's original anymore.

[01:29:31] And I just wonder if those were what kind of struck

[01:29:35] that the triggered chords, you know,

[01:29:38] and got them a bit pissed off and ruffled their feathers

[01:29:43] enough to start complaining and winching

[01:29:45] and making videos about it and writing articles about it

[01:29:48] and whatever, you know.

[01:29:49] - Another thing too, you gotta look at it

[01:29:52] from the devs point of view, like,

[01:29:55] whether this is something that they took assets,

[01:29:58] or they were inspired, let's just say that.

[01:30:01] They were heavily inspired by Pokemon

[01:30:03] and other, you know, major titles.

[01:30:05] They still put in the work to make these characters,

[01:30:09] 'cause even if you go in the game,

[01:30:11] these pals don't handle the same way as Pokemon,

[01:30:14] like they have their own animations,

[01:30:16] they have, there's little things that the devs have done

[01:30:21] to put these, to put these pals,

[01:30:23] like make them more lifelike, right?

[01:30:25] And that doesn't happen in like a day,

[01:30:28] like that was put in some time, some more, like.

[01:30:32] So they put in the work, they put in the time

[01:30:35] to make this game the way it is, is it 100%?

[01:30:38] No, it's still, you know, it's still a work in progress,

[01:30:40] but from what they've done, they've done a phenomenal job

[01:30:43] of taking what they love from other major titles

[01:30:48] and make it their own.

[01:30:49] - Now, I will say, absolutely.

[01:30:52] And I might play devil's advocate here, Kelv,

[01:30:54] because what I've learned being a creative

[01:30:57] and like observing lots of things

[01:31:00] and putting things out, my own art out on, you know,

[01:31:04] whatever platforms, is that at the end of the day,

[01:31:09] people don't care, the consumer doesn't care

[01:31:13] how much work the developers putting into it,

[01:31:15] they care about the product, the bottom line,

[01:31:17] like what am I getting, what am I seeing at face value?

[01:31:21] - Yep, right.

[01:31:22] - And what am I playing type thing?

[01:31:23] Nobody cares about how much work you're putting in

[01:31:26] or whatever, right?

[01:31:27] Because they just don't think of it like that,

[01:31:29] like the consumer doesn't think of it that way.

[01:31:31] So I think that immediately, the first thing they're gonna go

[01:31:34] to is the anger and the triggering because they're not

[01:31:38] gonna be like, oh well, how did they make it different?

[01:31:40] How did that, you know what I mean?

[01:31:41] Anyway, that's just the thought that I thought of

[01:31:43] as you were talking about, absolutely a lot of work

[01:31:46] into it.

[01:31:47] - Guys, you know what it is?

[01:31:48] It's jealous Nintendo users that can't play it

[01:31:51] because it's not on Switch, that's all it is.

[01:31:52] (both laugh)

[01:31:53] - Yep, that's it.

[01:31:54] - Let's do people, that's it.

[01:31:56] Now, which goes to the next, the assets and the AI,

[01:32:00] it was never confirmed AI was used, correct?

[01:32:04] - No, as of yet, no.

[01:32:05] - I don't think so, he just said he was,

[01:32:07] I think the lead guy just said he was a fan of AI

[01:32:11] or something like that.

[01:32:12] - Right, so I've got a little quick thing here,

[01:32:14] just putting it out there.

[01:32:15] But when I first saw Powerholder where when we heard of it,

[01:32:18] it was what, some time ago, like early pandemic, I think.

[01:32:21] They showed a typical little pals and their designs

[01:32:26] that we still see on the cover and in the game today,

[01:32:29] like the designs didn't really change

[01:32:30] since when we first saw it.

[01:32:32] - No, that main guy there, the-

[01:32:34] - Right.

[01:32:35] - Grisball.

[01:32:36] - So the game was revealed June 5th, 2021,

[01:32:39] detailing key features such as survival, crafting,

[01:32:41] exploration, exploitation of creatures,

[01:32:44] and the multiplayer focus.

[01:32:47] AI generated art, the kind of art that we've been generating

[01:32:51] over the past like, quite a year maybe.

[01:32:54] Like it only really started getting really good recently.

[01:32:58] AI generated art began recent,

[01:33:01] it's recent, it's set in 2014, but it was complete trash,

[01:33:04] like it wasn't anything.

[01:33:06] Google tried some stuff, 2015 rolled around.

[01:33:11] It was like little paintings and stuff like that,

[01:33:13] like it was nothing.

[01:33:14] In the 2020s, text to image models,

[01:33:17] which generated images based on prompts,

[01:33:19] begin to approach the quality of real photographs

[01:33:22] and human drawn art.

[01:33:24] In 2021, using the transformer models used in GPT-4

[01:33:28] or GPT-3 and two, an open AI.

[01:33:31] That was around in 2021.

[01:33:34] I can't see them using AI generation

[01:33:37] that was available in 2021 to make these designs

[01:33:41] you see in the game.

[01:33:42] They can't-

[01:33:43] - You mean the timelines?

[01:33:44] - They don't match up. - They don't match up.

[01:33:45] - They don't match where AI was good enough

[01:33:50] to come up with these designs.

[01:33:52] When they already had pitched the idea

[01:33:54] and designs already made for press and media kits

[01:33:58] and all that kind of stuff.

[01:34:00] And like I remember when I first dabbled with Pokemon,

[01:34:03] remember when we first dabbled with Pokemon AI generated

[01:34:05] stuff like one of our earlier episodes?

[01:34:07] Like what would this look like together?

[01:34:09] And it looked like shit.

[01:34:10] It looked like absolute trash.

[01:34:12] - A couple of them were pretty funny.

[01:34:13] - Yeah, pretty funny and stupid looking.

[01:34:15] And like there's no way it could maybe give them an idea

[01:34:20] of something to create, but it wouldn't have been

[01:34:23] the carbon copy AI, put it here, put it in the game.

[01:34:27] So I just, I don't see them using AI

[01:34:31] to carbon copy generate these pals.

[01:34:35] Like putting a squirtle there and saying

[01:34:37] make this different and then give me a squirtle

[01:34:40] that's different.

[01:34:40] You know what I mean?

[01:34:41] Like that, I don't, I can't see that happening

[01:34:43] from what our experiences are with AI generated art.

[01:34:48] - Yeah, I mean the timelines don't really add up

[01:34:50] but like if they were doing it now you could easily do it.

[01:34:52] - Yes, easily.

[01:34:53] Like I actually did it when I was making the notes

[01:34:56] and I was like all I had to say in mid-journey was

[01:34:59] create me pocket monsters or no,

[01:35:02] I didn't want to use Pokemon.

[01:35:03] Create me monsters that have nothing to do with Pokemon,

[01:35:07] like do not take any kind of design from Pokemon.

[01:35:11] Do not do this, do not do that.

[01:35:12] And what it gave me was sick.

[01:35:14] It was fucking sweet.

[01:35:16] And it was not anything like Pokemon had ever done.

[01:35:19] Like it was like this cool little salamander thing.

[01:35:22] It was really cool.

[01:35:23] - It looked more like a real, it wasn't like a cute thing.

[01:35:26] - Yeah.

[01:35:27] - It shows me, yeah.

[01:35:28] - Yeah, it wasn't like cutie.

[01:35:29] - Yeah, it wasn't cute.

[01:35:29] - It was cool.

[01:35:30] It was like a cool, more realistic kind of monster.

[01:35:34] - Even if they were using AI they could easily make it

[01:35:38] so the AI doesn't take assets.

[01:35:41] - Yeah, exactly.

[01:35:41] - So do you think, 'cause we know that they're gonna

[01:35:43] bring in more pals in the future, right?

[01:35:45] Future updates.

[01:35:46] - I would use AI.

[01:35:47] - Well, would they use AI but also would they steer away

[01:35:52] from the appearance of like what the Pokemon characters

[01:35:58] look like?

[01:36:03] Are they gonna steer away from that entirely?

[01:36:04] - Yeah, no.

[01:36:05] - Because of this whole, you know?

[01:36:06] - Yeah, they probably have to make an effort.

[01:36:08] - So they were kind of riding the line.

[01:36:10] I think they're gonna make a little bit of a pivot.

[01:36:13] - Pivot, yeah.

[01:36:14] - Yeah, probably had a meeting about that.

[01:36:16] - In the basement or something.

[01:36:18] (laughing)

[01:36:19] - In the back room where they could be back to it.

[01:36:22] (laughing)

[01:36:24] - In the back room.

[01:36:24] - In the back of the room,

[01:36:25] but in the back of the convenience store.

[01:36:27] - All right, I think we have our verdict from everyone

[01:36:30] that it's not a rip off.

[01:36:32] I think everyone agrees.

[01:36:33] Are we unanimous?

[01:36:35] - I think we are.

[01:36:36] - We have agreement.

[01:36:37] - I think they don't even evolve.

[01:36:38] They don't even evolve.

[01:36:39] Like they don't even--

[01:36:40] - They don't even evolve.

[01:36:41] - Do they even have a mechanic like--

[01:36:42] - Although they're totally axis.

[01:36:43] - They're falling.

[01:36:44] - That's fair.

[01:36:45] - Yeah, they could.

[01:36:46] - There are forms that look like others just bigger.

[01:36:48] - Yeah.

[01:36:49] - Okay.

[01:36:50] - So it does look like there's some kind of evolution.

[01:36:51] - They have like the sparkly kinds or whatever that like--

[01:36:54] - They have shiny.

[01:36:54] - Shiny.

[01:36:55] - Shiny.

[01:36:56] - But I mean like this.

[01:36:57] There's one called like sweet bull or something

[01:36:59] and there's a different kind called a sweet

[01:37:02] and it's obviously like an evolved form of it

[01:37:05] but they don't evolve.

[01:37:06] You know what I mean?

[01:37:07] - I'm so mad.

[01:37:07] I saw this shiny chicken.

[01:37:10] I don't know what they're called.

[01:37:11] - I call it shiny chicken.

[01:37:12] - I tried and my fucking pal killed it

[01:37:15] and I was so mad.

[01:37:18] - Did you then kill your pal for killing the chicken?

[01:37:20] - I should have just, yeah, you're right.

[01:37:23] I should have just took them out

[01:37:24] and took them out of my party and told them--

[01:37:26] - Have you butchered on yet?

[01:37:28] - Have you?

[01:37:28] - Yeah.

[01:37:29] - I've killed, I've done some things now.

[01:37:31] - Like actual butchered.

[01:37:32] - Oh no, what?

[01:37:34] - Yeah.

[01:37:34] - There's a butchered knife that you craft.

[01:37:36] If you equip it and you go up to your pal

[01:37:38] and open the pal menu instead of feed and pal,

[01:37:41] it'll be like put chill.

[01:37:43] - And you clicked on it. - It goes all pixelated.

[01:37:45] - It goes blurry and it blurs it all out and it like,

[01:37:48] like you're killing it and you just get the meat.

[01:37:51] - Because like I no longer endorse this game.

[01:37:54] (laughing)

[01:37:55] - You can do that to people too.

[01:37:57] - Yeah, yeah.

[01:37:58] - If you cap one people, you can butcher it.

[01:37:59] - Oh yeah, I did cap one guy.

[01:38:01] I captured one of those bandit guys.

[01:38:04] - Yeah, you can butcher them and sell their parts

[01:38:05] to the black market guy too.

[01:38:07] - Now that I would do it.

[01:38:09] - But with that, with that being said,

[01:38:12] we had a lot of gluttons.

[01:38:15] Okay, a lot of gluttons, gluttonous pals.

[01:38:17] And when you put a gluttonous pal out,

[01:38:19] he'll eat all the food, become sick

[01:38:22] and all the other pals will be starving and they can't eat.

[01:38:26] So I butchered all the gluttonous pals we had.

[01:38:29] - Oh, thank you.

[01:38:30] - In our box.

[01:38:32] - Good job, good job.

[01:38:32] - Just take them all my party, take them all back,

[01:38:35] throw them out, chop them up,

[01:38:37] then to feed his parts to the rest of the pals.

[01:38:39] (laughing)

[01:38:41] I love it so much, I love it so much.

[01:38:45] That's amazing.

[01:38:46] - Could you just ask another pal to butcher?

[01:38:49] - No.

[01:38:50] - Or is it, you're the only one that can butcher?

[01:38:52] - You have the power.

[01:38:53] - That would be, that would be kind of crazy too though.

[01:38:57] - That would be crazy if you can have one of your pals

[01:39:00] cannibalize the other, another pal,

[01:39:02] like they just start eating each other as shit.

[01:39:04] (laughing)

[01:39:05] - Can you imagine that?

[01:39:06] - Maybe.

[01:39:07] - It's still early access.

[01:39:08] - It's still early access.

[01:39:09] - You never know, that's the motto for this game.

[01:39:12] - It's still early access.

[01:39:13] - To close out this part though,

[01:39:15] I wanna take a tweet from our buddy Eric

[01:39:17] at the unlockable pod.

[01:39:18] I don't know if you guys saw the tweet.

[01:39:20] He tweeted last week, or when I was making the notes,

[01:39:24] he says quote, "I think the power world discourse

[01:39:28] "speaks more to the fact that all they had to do

[01:39:30] "was a basic open world crafting, give Pokemon guns,

[01:39:34] "and it's still a bigger innovation

[01:39:36] "than anything Pokemon has done in their games

[01:39:38] "in the last 20 years."

[01:39:40] - Yeah.

[01:39:41] - End quote.

[01:39:42] And I think a lot of people are upset

[01:39:44] that Rob was saying it took so long

[01:39:46] for them to get to this point,

[01:39:47] and it's like, they just brought it further within

[01:39:51] two weeks.

[01:39:52] - If you look at what Nintendo has had,

[01:39:54] or Nintendo users have had,

[01:39:56] like the Switch is not gonna be able to do this.

[01:39:58] - No, no.

[01:39:59] - You know what I mean?

[01:40:00] - It's less Bush II's coming tomorrow.

[01:40:01] - It's too big.

[01:40:02] - It's too big.

[01:40:03] (laughing)

[01:40:05] - Switch II would be able to do it.

[01:40:06] And I'm excited to see what they can do

[01:40:10] with the next Pokemon game on that.

[01:40:12] - They better off fucking up.

[01:40:14] - No old ed screen.

[01:40:15] - No, they're gonna give us another red and blue remake.

[01:40:18] That's what they're gonna do.

[01:40:19] - Oh, they didn't--

[01:40:20] - You know what?

[01:40:21] I would find that.

[01:40:22] - I would find that.

[01:40:23] - I would find that.

[01:40:24] - This is the problem.

[01:40:26] This is the--

[01:40:27] - You're the problem.

[01:40:28] - I would remix.

[01:40:29] - Turn around John and look at your shame.

[01:40:32] Look at your shame.

[01:40:34] - Listen, if there was a full open world

[01:40:36] like game like that, they still haven't done it.

[01:40:39] - That's right.

[01:40:40] - No, if they remade red and blue again,

[01:40:44] we would buy it.

[01:40:45] - We would buy it.

[01:40:45] - We would buy it.

[01:40:46] - We would buy it.

[01:40:47] - 100%.

[01:40:48] - I just want Pokemon red and blue

[01:40:50] to come out on the Game Boy emulator thing

[01:40:53] that they have on Switch.

[01:40:55] - That's it.

[01:40:56] - That's all I want.

[01:40:57] - That's it, that's it.

[01:40:58] - Don't remake it.

[01:40:59] I don't want it remade.

[01:40:59] Just put it there so I can fucking play it again

[01:41:02] instead of on an emulator and my phone and shit.

[01:41:04] Like I just want to--

[01:41:05] I'm going to say this,

[01:41:06] I'll try to make it really quick, you know?

[01:41:09] This game is fun.

[01:41:10] It's fun with two or four friends.

[01:41:12] I couldn't imagine it with 32 people

[01:41:15] or 16 in one world.

[01:41:16] Building the bases and adventuring together,

[01:41:18] this is an actual dream come true for a lot of people.

[01:41:22] Like catching the pals, building your base,

[01:41:25] multiplayer fun.

[01:41:26] This is something I thought Scarlet and Violet was going to do

[01:41:29] and they kind of did it half-assed-ish

[01:41:32] without the base building and whatnot.

[01:41:34] Their dungeons were shit, their performance was shit,

[01:41:37] their multiplayer was shit.

[01:41:38] And this comes out, it knocks it out of the park

[01:41:40] when talking multiplayer and having fun.

[01:41:43] Games are about having fun and this is fun.

[01:41:46] We had fun playing this game.

[01:41:48] Especially with friends.

[01:41:50] The hate that surrounded this game

[01:41:51] is unwarranted, jealous, knee-jerk reactions

[01:41:54] from people who don't like others having fun

[01:41:56] and how we kind of described it in our last two minutes ago.

[01:41:59] So I'll leave it at that.

[01:42:01] But I think they successfully took inspiration

[01:42:04] from Pokemon and a lot of other popular games

[01:42:06] threw it in with an addictive gameplay loop

[01:42:09] and that was it.

[01:42:10] Who would have thought?

[01:42:11] You know, it could be stick figures

[01:42:13] and pixel blobs for monsters

[01:42:15] and it would still be a hit, I think.

[01:42:17] But they didn't want to take that risk

[01:42:18] so they slapped some lovable Pokemon-esque monsters

[01:42:21] and bam, auto hit.

[01:42:23] - Okay.

[01:42:24] - You can do that for me.

[01:42:25] - I don't know guys, I'm a few hours in, like Rob.

[01:42:28] I finished the tutorial, I finished the first boss,

[01:42:32] my experience hasn't exactly been the same

[01:42:35] as someone who started from scratch

[01:42:37] and had to build their base up from nothing

[01:42:39] and build their own weapons, build their own armor,

[01:42:42] have those things to look forward to

[01:42:44] 'cause I jumped in on Jonathan and Nathaniel's server

[01:42:46] and they had so much fucking shit already

[01:42:48] and I just took things from chess, whatever.

[01:42:51] And I wasn't naked for very long

[01:42:53] and I wasn't starving for very long.

[01:42:55] So I was spoiled.

[01:43:01] Now, granted, I definitely think

[01:43:04] that had the experience been different

[01:43:05] and I was building things from scratch

[01:43:07] and just kind of trying to get by or whatever

[01:43:09] and looking at trying to get my own stuff started,

[01:43:11] my base, my basic crafting

[01:43:14] and then working up toward things

[01:43:16] when what, yada, yada, yada,

[01:43:18] that would have been a little bit better.

[01:43:21] I don't see myself playing very much more of this.

[01:43:26] I might be the odd man out here because,

[01:43:28] but the point is, it's also the Pokemon effect

[01:43:33] where I just, I keep trying and trying to want to play them

[01:43:37] and enjoy them, but I end up being like, eh.

[01:43:40] After like six hours, I'm like, I'm good.

[01:43:44] I got it, I got this, I just can't, yeah,

[01:43:47] it's like I just don't really care.

[01:43:50] I've had some fun playing it, but I don't know that I would,

[01:43:54] this is not a game I will put more than,

[01:43:57] I would ever put more than 20, 30, 50 hours

[01:44:00] and even if that, like there's just no way.

[01:44:02] But that's also just me and like crafting.

[01:44:04] I'm not a big crafting guy every time I play a good RPG,

[01:44:07] like even Skyrim or whatever, I'm not a crafting guy.

[01:44:10] I don't do the crafting, I'll fucking buy it,

[01:44:12] I'll get the money and I'll buy it from a store

[01:44:15] and I'll use it or whatever.

[01:44:16] So I don't know what it is about this space

[01:44:18] that these games occupy, but it's always been something

[01:44:21] that I'm just like, I'll try it,

[01:44:22] I'll have some fun, whatever and then like I'm done with it.

[01:44:25] So that's kind of my verdict on it.

[01:44:27] The graphics are quite nice, a little bit of blur

[01:44:31] on some textures, they're kind of weird.

[01:44:33] I feel a bit choppy, I don't like the rigid kind of movement

[01:44:36] and I don't know, so, but the pals are kind of cool

[01:44:40] and I like the sound effects and I like, I don't know,

[01:44:43] how similar it kind of is to familiar games

[01:44:45] that we do like and love, but yeah,

[01:44:48] that's kind of my final thoughts.

[01:44:49] I just don't see it gripping me as much

[01:44:51] as perhaps it has at you guys.

[01:44:54] All right, well, I think I'll still keep playing it a little bit.

[01:44:58] I got some funny ideas that maybe we'll make a couple

[01:45:01] of videos out of, but yeah, we'll keep playing it, I think.

[01:45:05] - We'll ride the wave a little, you know?

[01:45:07] - Yeah, I'll say so.

[01:45:08] - Ride the wave a little more.

[01:45:09] - Hey, you guys got some closings?

[01:45:11] - Real quick, I think, just piggyback off

[01:45:14] of Dan's comments there, I think I'm on the same boat.

[01:45:18] I am not really a survivor kind of gamer, right?

[01:45:22] - When we played, when we played--

[01:45:24] - Oh my God, don't, don't, no.

[01:45:25] - Back to the wave, back to the wave.

[01:45:27] - Back to the wave. - 70s to die.

[01:45:28] - 70s to die, yeah. - So bad, dude.

[01:45:31] - So definitely not my type of, you know,

[01:45:34] genre that I typically gravitate towards,

[01:45:36] but for some reason, this one really made me want

[01:45:41] to play this game more, and again,

[01:45:44] the gameplay loop is addictive to the point where

[01:45:47] that's probably one of my favorite parts of the game

[01:45:50] is just building your base, and just managing your base

[01:45:55] and making sure that all your pals are,

[01:45:58] they have a specific job, and they have beds,

[01:46:01] and they have food, like, there's something about that

[01:46:03] that I never got from any other survival game

[01:46:05] that makes this one stand out to me.

[01:46:08] And so, out of everything else in that game,

[01:46:11] whether it's capturing, whether it's just kind of looting

[01:46:14] and grabbing other things and going into different caves,

[01:46:17] I think the survival aspect to it

[01:46:18] is probably my most favorite part of the game,

[01:46:21] which is odd to say.

[01:46:22] So, they did something well, man.

[01:46:24] They did something good.

[01:46:25] They got me, and I'm not a survival, you know,

[01:46:27] genre kind of guy, so they're doing something right.

[01:46:30] - As far as the game goes, I think this,

[01:46:34] the ball is in the dev's court right now,

[01:46:37] as far as it's a lot of hype, right?

[01:46:39] And what happens with these games that come out

[01:46:41] out of nowhere, these building type of games,

[01:46:43] again, like, that'll come prior to it.

[01:46:45] Everyone's on it, and it will happen

[01:46:47] just a couple months later, everyone kind of lose interest

[01:46:49] and just falls off.

[01:46:50] Now, I know it's an early access,

[01:46:51] so it's really up to the devs

[01:46:53] on if they want this to be a lasting thing,

[01:46:56] or this is just a flavor of the month, right,

[01:46:59] that's happening right now.

[01:47:00] So, that's what I'm afraid of what this game will become.

[01:47:04] I think it has a chance not to be just because

[01:47:07] of the PAL aspect and how big it is,

[01:47:09] but I'm curious to see how they will proceed moving forward

[01:47:13] if they're gonna be updating this game regularly

[01:47:15] and having all these different things.

[01:47:17] It's gonna be a really, really interesting story,

[01:47:19] and if you think this game copied Pokemon

[01:47:22] and you're really upset, go Google Next Ammon,

[01:47:24] go look at all this at them, and it is literally worse

[01:47:27] than this, there's literally a turtle

[01:47:29] that looks exactly like another turtle Pokemon.

[01:47:31] So, I don't wanna hear it.

[01:47:32] - Has there been a bigger early access game in this?

[01:47:37] Like, this is early access?

[01:47:40] This is crazy.

[01:47:41] - It's the biggest, people are just gonna stop playing it,

[01:47:43] right, so.

[01:47:44] - This is this game pass game, and-

[01:47:47] - Ever. - Ever, ever, yeah.

[01:47:49] - And it's the second biggest steam game

[01:47:53] of concurrent players.

[01:47:55] - PUBG is first, right?

[01:47:56] - Yep.

[01:47:57] - Wow. - Yep.

[01:47:58] - All right, Chris, any final thoughts?

[01:48:01] Are you gonna continue to check it out

[01:48:03] and build your base?

[01:48:04] - Probably, I'll probably just go to a different server

[01:48:08] or play this by myself.

[01:48:09] (laughing)

[01:48:10] - I'm tired of trying to chase.

[01:48:12] - You know, try, I'm tired of trying to chase.

[01:48:13] - So, you're gonna give it another shot on the soul?

[01:48:16] - I might, I might, I will wait until maybe like,

[01:48:21] a bigger patch or something like that comes up.

[01:48:23] - Okay.

[01:48:24] - But yeah, I mean, I did have fun.

[01:48:27] I did enjoy my time, and kind of like what Kelvin said,

[01:48:32] where the survival part of it was kind of cool.

[01:48:34] I think, also because like,

[01:48:37] you feel like you're controlling a little army,

[01:48:40] so to speak, and like, that was kind of cool.

[01:48:43] So that in itself kept me kind of going

[01:48:48] for the days that I did play it.

[01:48:50] And like, it was many hours.

[01:48:52] Many hours when I did play it.

[01:48:54] And so yeah, I'm, I'll give it a shot later for sure.

[01:48:59] I guess whenever they do like a server wipe

[01:49:02] or whatever they have to do.

[01:49:04] - Oh yeah, that's another thing.

[01:49:05] I don't know if they're, are they gonna do that?

[01:49:07] - Yeah. - So.

[01:49:08] - Yeah. - I got a server wipe.

[01:49:09] I mean, 'cause your file's stored locally, so.

[01:49:13] - I guess they probably wouldn't do that.

[01:49:14] - There's no competitive aspect to it,

[01:49:15] so I don't see why they wouldn't do that.

[01:49:17] - And they said they were gonna,

[01:49:18] they're gonna bring that stuff in,

[01:49:20] and that's where I'm kind of curious.

[01:49:22] - Oh yeah, maybe. - Like PvP, yeah.

[01:49:24] - Yeah, yeah. - Cool.

[01:49:26] All right, I think that's it for this week's episode.

[01:49:29] Thanks everyone for taking the time to listen.
