[00:02:09] He's a real human.
[00:02:12] Pretty sure but I think so.
[00:02:15] I've talked to him once or twice.
[00:02:17] Yeah exactly.
[00:02:19] He all the buy him a webcam for Christmas so he can start using that and convincing the
[00:02:24] world that he is real because there's just this on.
[00:02:27] There's just like this ongoing gag that Tommy's not really real.
[00:02:30] He's just some AI that I made.
[00:02:32] I have to do it.
[00:02:33] The podcast with some shit.
[00:02:35] Anyway, superpodsogged.com, though of our episodes including our two with Jerry here.
[00:02:41] Fuck what was it?
[00:02:42] Games were playing wrong.
[00:02:43] Yeah, and Zelda.
[00:02:44] Yep.
[00:02:46] Or blogs, social media, all that stuff.
[00:02:48] Yeah, that's us.
[00:02:49] Hell yeah.
[00:02:51] RIP Dick Sword.
[00:02:52] Yep.
[00:02:53] My home.
[00:02:54] I'm just some love you.
[00:02:56] You'll have to go check out that episode.
[00:02:58] Games were played wrong to understand that stupid reference.
[00:03:01] Or there was Dick Sword and face stuff.
[00:03:05] Yeah.
[00:03:06] What was the bit with that one dumb bitch from the Zelda episode?
[00:03:09] Oh, the triple answer.
[00:03:12] Oh god.
[00:03:13] Oh god, that was so good and you lost it.
[00:03:18] You lost that whole thing and it was so good.
[00:03:22] That would have what that was the thing that would have made us all break out to be internet
[00:03:26] stars and you lost it.
[00:03:28] Hey dog, don't blame me.
[00:03:30] Blames then cast or fuck you.
[00:03:31] Send cast or yeah, that's right.
[00:03:34] This podcast is supported and sponsored by Riverside.
[00:03:38] Can you please say you're sponsored by someone if you're not?
[00:03:43] Sure you can.
[00:03:44] Please Riverside sponsor us.
[00:03:45] Yeah, it's the makerspeg.
[00:03:46] This episode is fun.
[00:03:47] Quite counter Dracula.
[00:03:48] No, counter Dracula.
[00:03:49] My band.
[00:03:50] You know what it's about?
[00:03:51] My counter Dracula.
[00:03:52] Yeah.
[00:03:53] With this span there's Transylvania and DuBaloons or whatever the fuck the currency is in Transylvania.
[00:04:02] Yeah, DuBaloons.
[00:04:03] Yeah, that's 100% what I want.
[00:04:05] Blood box.
[00:04:06] Well, spooky box.
[00:04:08] Spooky box.
[00:04:09] Spooky box.
[00:04:10] Yeah.
[00:04:11] Spookery dues.
[00:04:16] So we have gathered here today to talk about some scary games, but more so than just scary
[00:04:27] games.
[00:04:28] I want us to talk about our all time favorite scary games or rather your all time scary game like
[00:04:38] the one, the one that beats them all, the one that when you think of horror games, that's
[00:04:43] the one.
[00:04:44] That's the one you think of.
[00:04:45] It's the best for you.
[00:04:47] It could be an on a rated game.
[00:04:49] It could be could be an indie game could be a triple A game.
[00:04:51] I don't care what it is, but today we are all going to talk about what our all time favorite
[00:04:57] scary game is and I have so many backup plans for mine because I feel like everybody's
[00:05:06] just going to be like Resident Evil 4.
[00:05:09] But maybe not, I don't know.
[00:05:11] I could be I could be super DduBarong jokes on you because I I'm sure to not pick that
[00:05:17] because I knew other people were going to pick that so yeah, but is it your all time favorite
[00:05:22] though?
[00:05:23] Well, I guess and I guess now I guess we'll find out soon.
[00:05:27] We will find out.
[00:05:30] Well, before we get kicked off I for like first of all, we're getting kicked off.
[00:05:39] We are getting kicked off of the internet, not pay our bills.
[00:05:44] No, I want to just talk about once again how insane 2023 is for video games because things
[00:05:51] just keep coming out and just being absolute bangers.
[00:05:56] We are mere days away from the launch of Alomake 2, which I'm excited for.
[00:06:02] I'm excited to see if I can actually play the fucking thing because the PC specs look
[00:06:06] out of this world.
[00:06:08] I don't know if I will actually be able to play it very well.
[00:06:14] But I'm myself along with a lot of other people are very, very anxious to play Alomake
[00:06:20] 2.
[00:06:21] I actually just finished playing Alomake Remastered and well that was plagued with some
[00:06:25] 2010 game problems.
[00:06:26] It wasn't too bad.
[00:06:28] I was very confused by the end of it, so I am looking for Alomake 2.
[00:06:33] That said, you know, I just said that 2023 is an absolute banger of a year and there's
[00:06:41] been a lot of good horror games this year.
[00:06:44] And I kind of just want to give some games some flowers first before we get into this.
[00:06:50] And well, one of my favorite ones so far this year is Dead Space Remake.
[00:06:56] That was a good one.
[00:06:59] Bramble was great.
[00:07:00] Beth, you see me play some of that?
[00:07:01] That was a really fucked up game.
[00:07:03] That's so fucked up.
[00:07:04] Yeah.
[00:07:05] Was it actually this year?
[00:07:06] Like did it actually have this year?
[00:07:07] Yeah, that was this year, yeah.
[00:07:08] Yeah, I was this year game.
[00:07:09] Yeah, that was a crazy game.
[00:07:10] That last boss was nuts with that.
[00:07:13] Like that.
[00:07:14] I mean, I can't.
[00:07:15] So I always think it's the knock cracker, but I don't think that's the, I think it's called
[00:07:20] this like the dance of the sugar plum fairies isn't it?
[00:07:25] Yeah, but it's from the knock cracker, right?
[00:07:28] It's not that either, but it's you're getting closer.
[00:07:31] I actually think it's like the dance of the mountain king or something.
[00:07:36] Like it's got, I don't know some weird ass name.
[00:07:38] But yeah, the last, the last boss has that.
[00:07:41] What are we going to say Beth?
[00:07:43] I think it is the dance of the sugar plum fairies that guy did just not out came.
[00:07:48] No, the sugar plum fairies is the.
[00:07:50] Oh, yeah.
[00:07:51] Why are they all the same?
[00:07:55] Okay, let me.
[00:07:56] Why are they all Christmas?
[00:07:57] Because why are they all Christmas?
[00:07:58] All the times are fucking stupid and didn't know what to name things.
[00:08:02] Oh, I'm going to call this, this other cracker salty.
[00:08:06] I'm not all the mountain king, but I'm going to just keep going until I find it.
[00:08:10] You guys continue.
[00:08:11] We will continue.
[00:08:12] Also, we've had my friendly neighborhood, which I thought was fantastic.
[00:08:17] Wild props.
[00:08:18] Wild props.
[00:08:19] Was that this year?
[00:08:21] Yeah.
[00:08:22] Yeah.
[00:08:23] Was that a horror game?
[00:08:24] Well, fuck, I don't know you're doing only horror games.
[00:08:26] I'm stupid.
[00:08:27] Look, man, if you need a second to talk about wild frost, you can have it.
[00:08:34] No, it's not a horror game.
[00:08:36] I won't do that.
[00:08:37] Okay, in the in the hall of the mountain king, in the song that is played in the last
[00:08:45] side of the bridge.
[00:08:46] Yes.
[00:08:47] Thank you.
[00:08:48] Show me points.
[00:08:49] I want points for that.
[00:08:52] Yeah, we have also had what else we have here?
[00:08:58] Oh, a favorite of mine and Beth was Paranormal site.
[00:09:02] That was also this year.
[00:09:04] That was so good.
[00:09:05] Oh, my God.
[00:09:06] That's great.
[00:09:07] If you don't like visual novels, just fucking grow up a little bit and read a
[00:09:14] little and just play the game because it's so good.
[00:09:17] It's so, so good.
[00:09:18] Learn your letters.
[00:09:19] Learn words.
[00:09:20] It was great.
[00:09:21] That was really good.
[00:09:22] The beginning was fantastic.
[00:09:25] A part of me.
[00:09:27] I actually do.
[00:09:28] I did think about this game the other day.
[00:09:31] I did.
[00:09:32] I did.
[00:09:33] And it was when we were talking about streaming more games and I kind of wish we had
[00:09:39] streamed it so everyone could have known how right I was about that girl in the beginning.
[00:09:45] You key or what?
[00:09:46] No, no, no.
[00:09:47] Everyone would have known.
[00:09:48] Yeah, you did call that pretty early.
[00:09:51] Clocked her.
[00:09:52] Of course, we had resident before this year.
[00:09:56] She absolutely annihilated her.
[00:09:58] Yeah, resident before this year.
[00:10:00] Absolute masterpiece.
[00:10:01] I mean, no big surprise there.
[00:10:03] The resident of games lately have just been so good and that's like probably the best one out
[00:10:10] of all the resident evils.
[00:10:11] And they just managed to make it better somehow.
[00:10:15] They did.
[00:10:16] More than a certain amount of you know, it's yours.
[00:10:18] It's your show.
[00:10:19] You talk about it.
[00:10:20] I'm not the fuck down.
[00:10:21] I'm sorry.
[00:10:22] No, no, no, no, no.
[00:10:23] You're the guest.
[00:10:24] You could speak as you want.
[00:10:26] Holy fuck.
[00:10:27] Holy fuck.
[00:10:28] I, you have the floor.
[00:10:30] Oh man, it looks gorgeous and they made it.
[00:10:34] They made it more.
[00:10:36] Fuck, they bounced it more toward actual survival horror than like action like it was in the
[00:10:42] like the original version where you just, where you could like pop a dude in the knee and
[00:10:47] they just run up to him and fucking sister kick him in the face until his head comes off.
[00:10:50] We're like shoot him with a spine and then just.
[00:10:52] I did like that.
[00:10:53] I think that they got rid of that.
[00:10:54] Yeah, yeah, that was, that was really cool.
[00:10:57] And, um, and holy shit, you're not, you're not up to your nipples and ammo anymore or they
[00:11:01] actually like ration that should out like a survival horror game should do.
[00:11:06] Okay, I'm done.
[00:11:07] Yeah.
[00:11:08] No, you're absolutely right.
[00:11:10] I agree with all those things.
[00:11:12] Um, I feel like every month this year, I've been going, okay, now this is my game of the
[00:11:18] game.
[00:11:19] Um, I can't confirm because yeah, yeah, it's going to be, it's going to be hard to be between
[00:11:28] Baldur's Gate, Resident Evil 4 and Redfall.
[00:11:31] Uh, I thought Redfall was also this year.
[00:11:34] Yeah, fuck Redfall.
[00:11:36] When does that killer clowns or matter space game come out?
[00:11:39] Cause I'm pretty interested in that.
[00:11:41] Yeah, I am too.
[00:11:42] Uh, I don't know when that comes out.
[00:11:44] I don't think that's this year.
[00:11:45] I think that might be next year.
[00:11:47] Like it could be wrong.
[00:11:48] It looks like left for dead, but like killer clowns or matter space and shit and like cotton
[00:11:52] candy cocoons and stuff.
[00:11:54] Yep.
[00:11:55] Yep.
[00:11:56] I love that movie such a such a weird funny movie.
[00:11:59] Um, another game that's kind of like, uh, actually we had two games that are kind of like
[00:12:03] the, um, the Dead by Daylight thing.
[00:12:06] So we got the Texas Chainsaw Massacre was this year.
[00:12:09] I don't know much about that.
[00:12:10] I don't know if it's good or not.
[00:12:12] Was it, um, delisted already?
[00:12:14] Are you serious?
[00:12:16] No way.
[00:12:17] Why?
[00:12:18] Am I thinking of something else?
[00:12:19] I swear it like it came out then after like, not very long it was delisted.
[00:12:23] I could be wrong.
[00:12:24] I don't know.
[00:12:25] I feel like I heard people saying that it's actually pretty good.
[00:12:28] Uh, I think it's on came past.
[00:12:31] No, I'm thinking of Dead by Daylight.
[00:12:33] Yeah, I don't know.
[00:12:35] Uh, the outlast trials also came out this well.
[00:12:38] I quote unquote came out cause it's still in early access, but uh, I've heard about
[00:12:44] really good, I've heard really good things about the outlast trials.
[00:12:50] And I kind of want to play it if I had some, some friends to play it with, I would absolutely
[00:12:55] play it.
[00:12:56] It's actually don't have any friends.
[00:12:57] I don't have any friends.
[00:12:59] So I guess that if I lived in the great north, you bet your sweet ass.
[00:13:04] I'd be over every single day.
[00:13:06] I mean we can play on the internet.
[00:13:10] That's what people do with these days.
[00:13:13] Yeah, we have to see each other.
[00:13:15] We don't do bad.
[00:13:16] That's like that's like are we changing our Facebook status?
[00:13:19] Oh yeah, it's complicated.
[00:13:22] Guys make a Facebook official.
[00:13:26] Make a badly photoshopped photo of like Jerry with his arm around me.
[00:13:34] Oh my god.
[00:13:35] Oh, we need to yes, please.
[00:13:38] Let's do that for the internet, please.
[00:13:40] Holy shit.
[00:13:41] Yeah, one cool horror game that came out this year.
[00:13:45] I haven't played it yet but it's been on my wish list and like I've seen a lot about
[00:13:48] it is rolled of horror.
[00:13:50] Oh yeah.
[00:13:51] Yeah, it's like a Jugee Doe inspired.
[00:13:55] Like a JRPG like first person dungeon crawler or oh baby, that looks so good.
[00:14:01] I needed in my veins.
[00:14:03] Yep, I had my finger on the trigger for that one last night actually.
[00:14:09] And then I ended up on the plunger.
[00:14:12] And then I ended up buying the DLC for Resident Evil 4, the separate ways.
[00:14:19] And buddy, let me tell you.
[00:14:22] Is it good?
[00:14:23] It's pretty wild, man.
[00:14:26] It's pretty wild.
[00:14:27] Pretty wild.
[00:14:30] Yeah, huh?
[00:14:31] It sure is.
[00:14:34] Yeah, lots and lots and lots of good horror games coming out.
[00:14:37] Again, like I said, Alamake 2 is right around the corner.
[00:14:41] Very, very excited for that.
[00:14:43] But I digress.
[00:14:45] Why don't we get into it before we get into it?
[00:14:51] I don't know.
[00:14:52] You have an update on what?
[00:14:53] Yeah, the Texas Chainsaw game was not delisted.
[00:14:58] They did a bunch of interviews saying that they weren't going to have the same legal problems
[00:15:03] that the Friday the 13th game had, which is now delisted.
[00:15:07] Oh, yeah.
[00:15:08] Okay.
[00:15:09] Well, the Friday 13th game was fun.
[00:15:12] RIP 2 reporter in the field.
[00:15:17] Take us to the field, Greg.
[00:15:19] What are they saying?
[00:15:21] They say it's all ready raining.
[00:15:24] Thank you.
[00:15:26] I appreciate it.
[00:15:28] Mean girls quote.
[00:15:30] I've got some.
[00:15:31] Sorry.
[00:15:32] Sorry.
[00:15:33] Go ahead.
[00:15:34] Oh, by the way, Killer Clowns does say that it is coming out this year.
[00:15:37] Yeah.
[00:15:38] I was hit by and it's at an early 2023.
[00:15:40] So I'm not so sure.
[00:15:41] Uh-oh.
[00:15:42] Uh-oh.
[00:15:43] Anyway, moving right past that.
[00:15:47] All right.
[00:15:48] Well, I have a favorite game picked out.
[00:15:51] Beth, do you have a favorite game picked out?
[00:15:53] Oh, huh.
[00:15:54] Greg, do you have a favorite game picked out?
[00:15:58] I did not do my homework.
[00:16:00] Oh, okay.
[00:16:01] I'm joking.
[00:16:02] I do.
[00:16:03] I do.
[00:16:04] I feel like there's a weird part of me that thinks that you and I are going to have the
[00:16:07] same one.
[00:16:08] Me and you?
[00:16:09] Mm-hmm.
[00:16:10] Interesting.
[00:16:11] I think so.
[00:16:12] Uh-uh.
[00:16:13] You and me, me and you.
[00:16:15] Uh-uh.
[00:16:16] It's like it's decidedly.
[00:16:17] Then who?
[00:16:18] Uh-uh.
[00:16:19] It's decidedly not my genre.
[00:16:21] So like maybe it's possible.
[00:16:23] No.
[00:16:24] Um.
[00:16:25] Aaron.
[00:16:26] I think it's impossible that you and I have a favorite horror game of all time.
[00:16:30] I don't know.
[00:16:31] Um.
[00:16:32] Aaron, tell me, buddy, you got to you got a horror game picked out.
[00:16:37] You're all time favorite.
[00:16:38] Let me tell you some, Chair Bear.
[00:16:40] Uh-uh.
[00:16:41] I certainly do.
[00:16:42] I've got I picked like five so I'll be the number one.
[00:16:46] You're ready.
[00:16:47] I'll be the number one.
[00:16:48] All right.
[00:16:49] Well, I will be a good host and let you go first.
[00:16:53] You are the guest.
[00:16:54] I encourage you to share this information with us so that we may talk about it or point
[00:17:02] and laugh something.
[00:17:05] What?
[00:17:06] Have you picked?
[00:17:07] Oh, fuck.
[00:17:08] Uh-uh.
[00:17:09] This is where Aaron tells us, uh, I didn't actually pick anything.
[00:17:16] I said I was thinking of my life.
[00:17:18] Oh, okay.
[00:17:20] Well, when I think of like my favorite anything game, I think of one that I can replay like
[00:17:29] over and over and over and over and over and one that I genuinely really, really enjoy.
[00:17:35] And uh, I really liked Dead Space, the original one, like the three sixty one.
[00:17:42] The fuck?
[00:17:43] So back in the day, I don't think it was when the game first came out.
[00:17:48] I entered my hand in like the stupidest fucking way possible.
[00:17:51] I'll tell you guys later.
[00:17:52] And all of a sudden now, I accidentally, so, so, okay.
[00:17:57] So no, I wish it was that be way cooler than this.
[00:18:01] So so I was closing.
[00:18:04] My mom's house has these old fucking windows that they don't just close, right?
[00:18:09] You have to like crank them open with this little hand crank and then you close them
[00:18:13] so you were cranking.
[00:18:14] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:18:17] So you crank them close and then there's like a little uh, handle or whatever on the other
[00:18:22] side of the window that you pull down to lock it in place so it doesn't blow open.
[00:18:26] So the handle doesn't work anymore.
[00:18:30] I fucking destroyed that thing.
[00:18:32] It was ground down to a nub.
[00:18:35] And so I have to use something sharp to pull the window close.
[00:18:40] I can't use my hand.
[00:18:42] So like a fucking idiot, I use the pair of scissors.
[00:18:46] What?
[00:18:47] And I was pulling the window closed and they slipped out and cut my knuckle right open
[00:18:51] right down to the bone.
[00:18:52] You could see it.
[00:18:53] It was no use gross.
[00:18:54] I entered my hand, had a had a cast and all that shit and couldn't go to work of course
[00:19:02] because I had to be able to use my hands and I couldn't.
[00:19:05] And so I just sat at home and played video games and one of them I played over and over
[00:19:08] was dead space.
[00:19:09] I 100% ended.
[00:19:11] I still enjoy playing the game every now and again because holy shit.
[00:19:14] Some of those, the fucking necromorphs are just so fucking freaky and grotesque and disgusting
[00:19:20] and I love just using only the fucking plasma cutter to just pew, pew, haha, fuck those
[00:19:26] legs and then just trudging down the hallway and stomping on boxes and stomping on corpses
[00:19:32] to get credits or whatever.
[00:19:34] And yeah, it's good.
[00:19:36] It's crazy because like when that game came out like I didn't...
[00:19:40] It took me, it took me you know a little bit to realize like and I remember having this
[00:19:46] realization like oh this is...
[00:19:48] This is something else.
[00:19:50] Like this is crazy.
[00:19:51] I've never played anything like this.
[00:19:52] This is like...
[00:19:54] I feel like I'm playing like a modern classic right now and I kind of only just realized
[00:19:59] it but yeah that game is like on top.
[00:20:03] Like dead space too was pretty good too but like I don't know the first dead space just
[00:20:09] bar none was one of the most mesmerizing horror experiences I've ever played.
[00:20:15] Not my number one pick but it for sure was high, high up the list of ones that I was considering
[00:20:23] so right away I'm furious.
[00:20:26] What is that your name?
[00:20:29] Because I play so few horror games.
[00:20:31] It's not my genre.
[00:20:33] But there's one horror game that I really enjoy.
[00:20:35] It's a dead space and it's dead space.
[00:20:38] No, no, it's too late now.
[00:20:42] I'll hop on yours and I'll say that yeah dead space...
[00:20:50] I don't think I've played a game that did a better job with atmosphere.
[00:20:52] Oh yeah.
[00:20:53] Then dead space like or lack thereof.
[00:20:58] Fucking Christ.
[00:21:03] But no, the scariest part of dead space is the issue more and more than anything.
[00:21:11] It's such a...
[00:21:13] There's such good sound design because you hear in sounds all the time and there's
[00:21:15] always this constant feeling that you are for sure alone and it just does its job so
[00:21:22] well.
[00:21:24] And it also it does jump scares that don't make me angry.
[00:21:31] That would be a sense.
[00:21:33] You know, like your time like the dumb are official ones that do in movies where it's
[00:21:36] like enemy pop out loud noise and then like violin, fucking fiddle dance or whatever.
[00:21:44] And I feel cheap.
[00:21:45] It doesn't feel cheap because I think the game establishes early on that it can happen
[00:21:50] and it can happen at any time.
[00:21:51] Yeah, I think what's crazy is like you can hear something in the vents coming toward
[00:21:56] you and you know what's coming but there's a party that's like not...
[00:22:00] It's not gonna come out is it?
[00:22:01] And then it just busts out from like the ceiling or like the sides or the floor and like
[00:22:07] it's crazy because like they telegraph it coming to you and you're like oh fuck.
[00:22:13] There's no way it's gonna pop out.
[00:22:15] And I think I've heard this, don't quote me on it but like they don't always happen.
[00:22:21] They don't?
[00:22:23] Like there are some that are scripted but then some that will just happen randomly.
[00:22:27] Can I quote you on that?
[00:22:28] No, you can't.
[00:22:29] Do it anyways.
[00:22:30] I will not be quoted.
[00:22:32] One of the other cool sports about that game is like when you leave the Isha Mora for
[00:22:37] those like brief moments and you're in like the vacuum of space or whatever and you
[00:22:41] fucking can hear anything and oh god it's just some creepy.
[00:22:46] You just hear your breathing.
[00:22:48] Yep, yeah which is often labored.
[00:22:50] Yes.
[00:22:52] Because Isaac is often having a bad time and he's just like.
[00:22:55] Oh, yeah.
[00:22:58] He doesn't get paid nearly enough for this fucking shit.
[00:23:00] Did Aaron did you play the remake?
[00:23:05] No but I saw it's coming to Game Pass pretty soon so I will know who is.
[00:23:09] Yep, it is coming to Game Pass.
[00:23:12] Now I did the thing when that game came out I paid for the just one month of the EA
[00:23:18] Play Pro on PC and that's how I played it.
[00:23:23] I paid that price which was a lot cheaper than paying for the game outright and I beat
[00:23:29] it in like two weeks ish and yeah, that seemed like a fair thing that I accomplished.
[00:23:39] Nice.
[00:23:40] I will say that the remake is exceptionally well done.
[00:23:46] Like it's a very faithful remake of the game but it's still like even I would guarantee
[00:23:53] that if you play that now, you're still gonna you're gonna find a lot to love about
[00:23:57] it because they do switch up some stuff and they've taken out like certain like annoying
[00:24:03] like anything that was slightly annoying about the first one has been like either rejigged
[00:24:07] or just taken out all together.
[00:24:10] Well, like the meteor shooting because fuck that shit.
[00:24:16] The meteor shooting is different this time.
[00:24:19] It's there but it's not annoying at all.
[00:24:23] I would just rather stick a toothpick underneath my big Tony on kick a wall dude and I hate
[00:24:29] that fucking part so much.
[00:24:31] I can't imagine anything in the video game that I would hate so much that I'd rather do
[00:24:35] that.
[00:24:36] Oh god.
[00:24:37] Oh my god.
[00:24:38] I can do it with all the hardest difficulty.
[00:24:40] It's fucking stupid.
[00:24:41] I haven't played Dead Space.
[00:24:43] I'm like disclaimer about my eventual pig and just this in general.
[00:24:51] I feel like I'm gonna be the same whenever we talk about horror games as I'm on a little
[00:24:55] bitch and cannot handle playing horror games.
[00:24:59] I love watching.
[00:25:00] The notorious coward.
[00:25:01] The notorious coward.
[00:25:04] This cannot do it.
[00:25:06] So I don't play horror games.
[00:25:09] I watch other people play them or watch like speed runs and or things like that so that's
[00:25:15] most of my knowledge but Dead Space is actually kind of like one of the few very popular
[00:25:22] horror games that I've neither like obviously not played but I'm not watched anybody play
[00:25:28] the whole way through either but the contrary to what I just said my favorite movie of
[00:25:36] all time is Alien.
[00:25:37] Yes.
[00:25:38] Everything that I've seen, the bits and pieces that I do see in like what you guys are saying
[00:25:46] about atmosphere and like the station itself kind of being like a part of this story
[00:25:54] and the like you know the horror itself is like very similar to Alien because like atmosphere
[00:26:03] how that translates is very similar and it's so claustrophobic and something that I absolutely
[00:26:11] love about Alien is that at no point in time so like talking really jump scares.
[00:26:22] One of them are done in the way that traditionally jump scares are like done because if you're
[00:26:27] paying attention the Alien is in every single shot before it shows up.
[00:26:33] It's like nestled away in like some machinery or like the you can see it coming on like
[00:26:40] the like the tracker thing that they have so the jump scares even when they're quote
[00:26:46] unquote jump scares they're not cheap and they're not done like just like that's not what
[00:26:51] makes it scary because they are so clearly telegraph at any time that the Alien is going
[00:26:57] to show up and that's similar to like what you're saying about how you're like being
[00:27:01] able to hear the things in the fence like skittering towards you and also shut out to Alien
[00:27:07] Isolation because that game may almost be in it.
[00:27:14] Yeah, thank you miss.
[00:27:18] Sorry Greg.
[00:27:21] I'm sure that's fine.
[00:27:24] Greg pretend you like something else more.
[00:27:27] I don't and I won't.
[00:27:31] Yeah, I just think that like that does face obviously classical and this is such iconic
[00:27:38] iconic horror game but yeah the only thing I can really speak to about it is like how
[00:27:44] it feels very kind of like in ways like an homage and takes things from Alien that
[00:27:52] is like done very effectively in that movie and translates that really sad.
[00:27:57] Absolutely.
[00:27:58] Beth, you've watched me play more of the Callisto protocol which is like poor man's dead space
[00:28:04] than you have dead space poor man's dead.
[00:28:08] Yeah, I probably would like and obviously like that space for a list of was okay like it
[00:28:17] was it was fine but you just yeah, I don't know.
[00:28:20] I just like the developer like.
[00:28:23] You really got a couple minutes and you've got like a pound of hamburger.
[00:28:26] Fuck it.
[00:28:27] Yeah, I don't know.
[00:28:28] I think the biggest thing with with the close up protocol if like if you're going to
[00:28:32] so clearly just do dead space again, you've got to do it as good or better.
[00:28:38] Yeah, that was the problem with Clisto.
[00:28:40] Like Clisto on its own.
[00:28:42] If dead space didn't exist would be fine but like of course people are going to have
[00:28:48] the comparison to dead space old and new.
[00:28:51] And then when the new one came out just after the close to protocol, I was like oh well,
[00:28:56] you don't need to play this game.
[00:28:58] Forget it.
[00:28:59] You don't need to play that.
[00:29:00] You just played the good one.
[00:29:02] With dead space at home, it's close to protocol.
[00:29:06] Exactly.
[00:29:07] Yeah.
[00:29:08] Exactly.
[00:29:09] Yes.
[00:29:11] Also, I do want to give Beth a shout out though because for the scary episode, you know,
[00:29:20] I kind of knew that you were going to say that, you know, you are a notorious wimp when
[00:29:24] it comes to games.
[00:29:26] However, I will say and I will give you your flowers on this one my dear.
[00:29:32] You watched me play from start to finish Murder House which featured one of your all-time
[00:29:38] biggest fears.
[00:29:40] And that is the god damn Easter Bunny.
[00:29:46] Yeah.
[00:29:47] And that game, guess what?
[00:29:48] That game was fucking really scary.
[00:29:50] Yeah.
[00:29:51] It was really scary.
[00:29:52] Real real scary and you watched that whole thing and I've never been more proud.
[00:29:58] I just can't play them because what happens is I have a very strong, you know, there's
[00:30:05] like you got your flight fight or freeze response.
[00:30:09] I have a really strong freeze response.
[00:30:11] So, me playing horror games is mostly just me closing my eyes and not moving.
[00:30:17] Like in real life I just keep all close my eyes and then just like put the controller down
[00:30:21] and die because I can't.
[00:30:23] I'm very serious.
[00:30:24] That's exactly what my co-host Tommy is.
[00:30:27] Yeah.
[00:30:28] That's interrupt you.
[00:30:29] No, it's okay.
[00:30:30] He um, a little while ago we had this thing where we took turns.
[00:30:37] We basically made lists of different games for the other posts to play.
[00:30:42] Tommy had me play a bunch of like baseball and fucking NES Captain Planet and stupid shit
[00:30:46] and I had him play siren 2 on the PS2.
[00:30:51] That game is fucking scary man.
[00:30:55] He was fucking petrified.
[00:30:56] He was having cars and the football would just be screaming like, come out showing yourself
[00:31:02] and he'd be like no.
[00:31:06] I think like it would be if I was like a twitch streamer and I played horror games,
[00:31:12] it would be probably genius because one, it would take me so long to play if there were
[00:31:19] any of them that like you know talk about stowing.
[00:31:22] I'd have games to play forever because most of the live stream would just be me sitting
[00:31:27] there crying.
[00:31:28] My eyes closed.
[00:31:29] I just like, I don't want to go into it.
[00:31:34] I don't want it.
[00:31:37] I can watch, though.
[00:31:38] I can watch Jerry play and other, I really watch you know.
[00:31:41] So that will be when we eventually talk about my game.
[00:31:44] That's kind of my experience but um, I mean we are currently playing through the devil
[00:31:50] and me, the dark pictures.
[00:31:54] By the way, you could go find that on our YouTube channel.
[00:31:57] Finally there's content there.
[00:31:59] Is that uploaded?
[00:32:02] It is.
[00:32:04] Yes, it most certainly is episode one because I'm certainly subscribed.
[00:32:09] Are you eating those crispy creams?
[00:32:12] Are you eating?
[00:32:17] I said are you eating those crispy creams?
[00:32:21] Maybe.
[00:32:22] I think you answered with our mouth full of crispy creams.
[00:32:27] What?
[00:32:28] No.
[00:32:29] No.
[00:32:30] That is up.
[00:32:31] The episode is titled log of death because man, mother fuck that log.
[00:32:37] That was bad.
[00:32:38] That was the fat, that bitch and that was not entirely my fault.
[00:32:43] Nope.
[00:32:44] I'm trying to find your YouTube channel and anytime I search for super ghost radio it
[00:32:50] just brings up a fucking music video for a guy named ghost radio playing the song super.
[00:32:55] What?
[00:32:56] Yeah, I couldn't find her like I also tried multiple times to find our.
[00:33:03] So I'll let you in on little secret.
[00:33:06] Getting recognized on YouTube is very difficult when you only have one video and like three
[00:33:12] subscribers.
[00:33:13] Hey, it's a 17 you as well.
[00:33:16] Does it actually have 17?
[00:33:18] I never thought about 17 you.
[00:33:19] Holy fuck.
[00:33:20] Oh my god, we made it.
[00:33:23] Oh man, celebrate good times.
[00:33:27] Come on.
[00:33:29] So yeah, log of death.
[00:33:34] Yeah, so you can go find that we're playing that game.
[00:33:38] It's pretty good.
[00:33:39] I like it so far.
[00:33:41] Even though you know super dash ghost all caps.
[00:33:46] Yeah, I couldn't get that.
[00:33:52] That's all we have to work with.
[00:33:53] But anyway, it's not an underscore a dash.
[00:33:56] A dash yeah, the underscore was taken.
[00:33:59] Anyway, moving on.
[00:34:01] Yes, moving right along.
[00:34:02] I want to talk about your favorite game.
[00:34:05] Yeah, let's hear what you have.
[00:34:08] So dead space.
[00:34:09] Yeah.
[00:34:10] Two is a very.
[00:34:12] Honestly, I can look at Loki high key dead space to if we're being honest, it might be a better
[00:34:20] game.
[00:34:21] Let's hear it hot take.
[00:34:24] I don't think it's that hot.
[00:34:26] Keep going.
[00:34:27] Pretty sweet.
[00:34:28] Pretty warm.
[00:34:29] Take pretty warm.
[00:34:30] Luke war.
[00:34:31] But like yeah, but yeah, I would like when I mean, I wasn't prepared to talk with dead
[00:34:36] space too.
[00:34:37] I was just talking.
[00:34:39] I guess my back up would have been a resident before.
[00:34:42] Well, there you go.
[00:34:45] But what's there to say about resamble for that hasn't been said already?
[00:34:51] It's divisive as heck at the time it was because it broke the formula and was certainly not
[00:35:01] a lot of people were used to and I remember people hating it when he came out, but got
[00:35:09] a cult following that became widespread following and is a lot of people's favorite resident
[00:35:14] evil game.
[00:35:15] If I think about my favorite resident games, is it my favorite resident evil game?
[00:35:20] It was for a long time.
[00:35:21] I think two remake might be my favorite one now.
[00:35:24] Yeah, two remake is pretty much like flawless.
[00:35:27] There's what I'm saying.
[00:35:29] I'm going to say about resident evil two remake.
[00:35:33] Yeah, it took us a minute, but we got there.
[00:35:36] Yes, I agree that game's flawless.
[00:35:41] Go ahead.
[00:35:42] Yeah, two remake was fantastic, especially if you've played two like the original two,
[00:35:48] like it does such a good job at everything it's trying to do.
[00:35:55] Like it doesn't make too many missteps.
[00:35:58] The first thing that stands out to me when I think about that game is how like when you
[00:36:05] shoot a zombie and you shoot it in the head, like you can do like huge damage to the
[00:36:10] head and it won't always like stop.
[00:36:14] Like sometimes you'll shoot a zombie and they won't recoil you'll just like fuck up
[00:36:18] their faces with bullets and then they'll still be coming at you.
[00:36:23] And then as someone who had never played two, I don't know anything about Mr. X and then
[00:36:27] this motherfucker appears in the game and yeah, that's it.
[00:36:33] That was my reaction.
[00:36:35] He looks at the helicopter and is like, oh no.
[00:36:39] And then for like so much more of the game, you hear like the heavy footsteps all over
[00:36:44] and it's like, oh, this is a nightmare.
[00:36:46] I mean, chased all over this police department.
[00:36:51] And the one misstep it makes is that when you finally do fight him, he's a bit of a bitch.
[00:36:58] Yeah, but you're right though, but the sorry, go ahead.
[00:37:02] I was just going to say that like the one thing that like I think is slightly disappointing
[00:37:09] about to remake in just in comparison to the original is that unlike the original, there's
[00:37:15] not as much variation between Leon and Claire's AMB campaigns.
[00:37:23] So something that was really cool about the original is that like what you did in Leon
[00:37:29] AM as in like opening up a locker and taking it would affect like the resources and this
[00:37:33] stuff that you didn't Claire beat.
[00:37:36] So there was a little bit more of like, do I take this now or do I take this so that
[00:37:41] there's, you know, sorry, how does now or do I leave it so that like Claire has more stuff
[00:37:45] later?
[00:37:46] So there was like a little bit more integration there but honestly like everything else
[00:37:52] is just done so unbelievably well that it's such a minor.
[00:37:56] I remember when that was coming out and I was like, can they actually make this game
[00:38:00] like scary though?
[00:38:02] Like, I mean, like I remember playing Resident Evil 7 and being absolutely shit-baked from
[00:38:07] that but a lot of it was to do with the fact that I played it in VR from start to finish.
[00:38:13] And but even looking back, yeah, it was pretty fun.
[00:38:17] Even looking back like that no, that game was pretty intense.
[00:38:20] That was that was a scary game.
[00:38:22] So just sorry, well my last little thing this is just more of like an anecdote.
[00:38:28] I when the game first came out, I watched this one streamer speed run it a lot and during
[00:38:37] the like, Sherry part, like when you're playing as her and you're hiding in the room,
[00:38:45] the chief irons, right?
[00:38:48] That's his name.
[00:38:49] Yeah.
[00:38:50] He comes into the room and he goes, doors locked and every time I lock my door, I think of
[00:38:57] it.
[00:38:58] I go around my house locking my doors at night.
[00:39:03] Door locked.
[00:39:04] Door locked.
[00:39:05] Door locked.
[00:39:06] Door locked.
[00:39:07] Every single night.
[00:39:08] So thank you for-
[00:39:09] Well, thanks for letting me know that so that in the next time we hang out if we go
[00:39:14] somewhere, like if we're at Greg's and you just like lock a door and you're like doors
[00:39:19] locked, I'm not going to be like, Greg can you call my one one real quick?
[00:39:22] Like, it would make more sense if it was like a voluntary thing but it's like I don't
[00:39:30] say it allowed.
[00:39:31] My brain says it every time.
[00:39:32] Like, I think it.
[00:39:35] I lock a door and my brain goes, he just doors locked in his voice.
[00:39:40] So now this is two things that I know about you that happened in your brain.
[00:39:44] That I can, well the fucking eat and cab see and pick them.
[00:39:48] Oh, yeah.
[00:39:49] They go at hand and hand.
[00:39:53] They do.
[00:39:54] Anyways, I'm done.
[00:39:56] Yeah.
[00:39:57] So keep talking.
[00:39:58] Go, go.
[00:39:59] I don't know if there's much to say more than that.
[00:40:05] It just everything it said to do did a really good job at.
[00:40:09] Yeah.
[00:40:10] I was just going to say that mode was fucking see.
[00:40:13] The what?
[00:40:14] The mercenary's mode.
[00:40:15] Oh, I never played that.
[00:40:17] Never played that.
[00:40:18] What?
[00:40:19] No, never.
[00:40:20] Okay, I'm done.
[00:40:21] No, no, no, it was yeah, the mercenary's mode was super fun.
[00:40:29] Like did not need to be there but it was and it was good.
[00:40:33] So thank you Capcom.
[00:40:34] Hmm.
[00:40:35] Maybe I should check that out at some point.
[00:40:38] That's the one little piece of you that's been missing this entire time.
[00:40:43] I was just going to say too that Greg what you said about the footsteps of Mr. X like
[00:40:50] I just remember at one point like early on encountering him and there's a safe room
[00:40:57] like right below like a staircase and I just remember being in there.
[00:41:01] Like upstairs and I'm like, guess I'm just staying in here for the rest of the game.
[00:41:08] Like I can't leave.
[00:41:09] Like I would wait.
[00:41:10] I would hear the footsteps offer a second.
[00:41:12] I'm like, okay, I guess he's gone.
[00:41:13] I'd open the door and he's just standing outside the door and I'm like, no, I'm good.
[00:41:17] I think I'm just going to wait here.
[00:41:19] He was incredible.
[00:41:20] He was able to has my favorite safe music in all the rest of the day.
[00:41:26] I forgot about that.
[00:41:27] The safer music is the best safer music in the world.
[00:41:30] Did resume will start safe room music?
[00:41:33] Yeah.
[00:41:34] I think they did.
[00:41:35] Yeah.
[00:41:36] Right?
[00:41:37] I think the better question is that resume will start the concept of a safe room.
[00:41:41] Yeah.
[00:41:42] I think they did.
[00:41:43] Metroid.
[00:41:44] Metroid did that.
[00:41:45] I guess so.
[00:41:46] I guess so.
[00:41:47] I never really thought about that.
[00:41:49] I mean, it's a save room but it definitely has.
[00:41:55] It's a save room.
[00:41:59] Yeah.
[00:42:00] Top 10 save rooms.
[00:42:01] Number one.
[00:42:02] Metroid.
[00:42:03] That's it.
[00:42:04] There you go.
[00:42:05] Episodes over.
[00:42:06] All right.
[00:42:07] Well, Beth.
[00:42:10] I feel like I can almost guess what your top scary game is.
[00:42:16] Can you?
[00:42:18] Because I feel like you wouldn't have picked one that you haven't played.
[00:42:22] Really?
[00:42:23] Mm-hmm.
[00:42:24] So, yes.
[00:42:25] Yes.
[00:42:26] And I feel like if it was something that you played, it's either going to, because
[00:42:35] I think you've only ever played three horror games ever, maybe four.
[00:42:39] I think four.
[00:42:40] Let me see if I'm right.
[00:42:42] What was?
[00:42:43] Resident Evil 5.
[00:42:44] OK, yeah.
[00:42:45] Resident Evil 6?
[00:42:46] Yeah.
[00:42:47] What's it called where all the dark pictures people made it?
[00:42:54] The first one.
[00:42:55] Until Dawn.
[00:42:56] Yep.
[00:42:57] Until Dawn.
[00:42:58] And Dung and Rampa.
[00:43:01] Interesting.
[00:43:02] I would not classify Dung and Rampa as a horror game.
[00:43:05] I would.
[00:43:06] 100%.
[00:43:07] I would.
[00:43:08] Hmm.
[00:43:09] I'm pretty sure if you look up the steam tags on that, it's tag horror.
[00:43:12] They let me know you can tag anything is anything.
[00:43:15] Yeah.
[00:43:16] I love you.
[00:43:17] I love you.
[00:43:18] You can post a picture of me holding a dog and be like, can't die, can't die, can't die,
[00:43:23] can't die.
[00:43:24] Sure.
[00:43:25] What?
[00:43:26] The genre is doing something.
[00:43:27] I bet it's going to say RPG.
[00:43:28] I bet it.
[00:43:29] Somebody ask you.
[00:43:30] I bet.
[00:43:32] Somebody asked me the other day what I wanted for Christmas and I just said I want to
[00:43:35] show them.
[00:43:36] I'm not going to shoot her.
[00:43:37] I wouldn't.
[00:43:38] Shooter.
[00:43:39] Yeah.
[00:43:40] Shooter.
[00:43:41] No.
[00:43:42] Yeah, you got to shoot all those answers, don't you?
[00:43:45] Yeah.
[00:43:46] You got to know the bullets.
[00:43:47] I guess.
[00:43:48] I don't know man.
[00:43:49] There's some pretty terrifying shit in Dung and Rampa.
[00:43:52] Like it's not jump scares but like oh god.
[00:43:55] There's the dude getting fucking bulls ass.
[00:43:59] That was insane.
[00:44:00] Wait, Aaron you've played Dung and Rampa?
[00:44:05] I've played a little bit of the first game but I've read a I've read a manga series of
[00:44:12] the first game.
[00:44:13] Don't don't yell at me.
[00:44:15] Never.
[00:44:16] We're not gonna.
[00:44:17] Okay.
[00:44:18] This is a safe space.
[00:44:20] I never play them.
[00:44:21] So okay.
[00:44:22] You know, not here.
[00:44:24] Never here.
[00:44:25] Yeah.
[00:44:26] And I'm gonna ask whole that like people are like, um, have you watched this anime?
[00:44:30] Like no, I've read the manga though.
[00:44:31] So like I can't.
[00:44:32] This is true.
[00:44:33] She fucking doesn't to me all the goddamn time.
[00:44:38] So don't know.
[00:44:39] No, don't.
[00:44:40] Sweet.
[00:44:41] Yeah.
[00:44:42] Okay.
[00:44:43] Look if you're gonna, if you're gonna read Manga's that are really fucked up.
[00:44:45] I highly encourage you.
[00:44:47] Nope.
[00:44:48] I'm gonna say berserk.
[00:44:50] Hold on.
[00:44:51] That's my favorite.
[00:44:54] I've never known to hear somebody literally trip over their own words and that's exactly
[00:44:59] what you just did.
[00:45:00] You were like a car to character like a bit of it.
[00:45:02] A bit of it.
[00:45:03] A bit of it.
[00:45:04] Uh, it's berserk is my favorite.
[00:45:05] Thank you for bringing that up.
[00:45:06] I literally just started reading berserk.
[00:45:08] Uh, I, I pretty much just bought a, uh, a new Kindle the paper white Kindle just to read
[00:45:17] Manga on because it's, it's so good for reading Manga on.
[00:45:20] And dog have you ever watched the anime like in anyone?
[00:45:24] No.
[00:45:25] I haven't seen any of that.
[00:45:26] Oh, you're in for it, dude.
[00:45:29] Yeah.
[00:45:30] I, I hear one of my co-workers was like, so you start reading berserk and I was like,
[00:45:35] I did.
[00:45:36] He's like, we think so far.
[00:45:37] I was like, uh, it's pretty insane.
[00:45:39] Like it's pretty goddamn gory and like pretty action packed and like I could totally see
[00:45:44] where like Dark Souls is getting their inspiration from.
[00:45:47] And he's like, yeah, did you get to anything?
[00:45:49] Like really fucked up?
[00:45:50] And I was like, not yet.
[00:45:52] And he's like, okay.
[00:45:53] And I was like, I know that there's some stuff in this like some kind of, you know,
[00:45:57] the others.
[00:45:58] Uh, it's a, some pretty bad things.
[00:46:00] And he's like, uh, you have no idea.
[00:46:03] Then I was like, okay.
[00:46:05] All right.
[00:46:06] Well, I guess I'm in for it.
[00:46:08] I, I don't know.
[00:46:11] I like what I'm reading so far.
[00:46:13] Okay.
[00:46:14] I'm so dissensitized to fucked up stuff when I was like horror movies and games and whatever.
[00:46:20] I've read some fairly questionable Junji Edo stuff too.
[00:46:24] Um, so I'm, I'm ready for it.
[00:46:27] But anyways, back to horror games.
[00:46:28] Um, so Greg, good pick with Resident Evil 2.
[00:46:31] Uh, initial pick was Dead Space but hey, we can't all be winners.
[00:46:35] That was not ambitious.
[00:46:39] Uh, but Beth.
[00:46:41] Yes.
[00:46:42] Um, in the end, I'm going to put my hand up, um, I'm going to throw it out on to your
[00:46:49] pick.
[00:46:50] Please.
[00:46:51] Kang, well, I love to tell you this.
[00:46:52] You're wrong.
[00:46:53] Oh, interesting.
[00:46:54] I won a game that I haven't played but is actually my favorite because talking about
[00:47:00] my favorite horror game, I have a favorite horror game even though I haven't played it.
[00:47:08] That's fun.
[00:47:09] That's really fun.
[00:47:10] happen because that means it gets to probably like it more than some other people.
[00:47:17] My favorite word game is the evil within.
[00:47:20] Nice.
[00:47:21] Yeah.
[00:47:22] I don't think about that today.
[00:47:24] I feel like a lot of the complaints were that makes people have with it, especially when
[00:47:29] an initially launched, was like issues with how it felt to control.
[00:47:34] So not having experienced that at all, I don't have that frustration.
[00:47:38] So that makes it a little bit more of just a fully positive experience.
[00:47:45] But God, I love this game.
[00:47:48] I love the level design is really well done for like a lot of it, the way the psychological
[00:48:00] where and the you enter a room and then you turn back in the doors on.
[00:48:05] Like I love stuff like that.
[00:48:06] Like this very mind, bendy, warped reality.
[00:48:12] So you kind of are left feeling pretty unmoored all the time, which is super fun.
[00:48:20] So those are just things that I like in general and that's just what the evil within is almost
[00:48:26] completely.
[00:48:29] I just think some incredibly iconic
[00:48:37] like boss fights and the guy with the safe on his head, Laura,
[00:48:44] Ruvik, a lot of horror does come down to enemy design and their story
[00:48:55] and like they're not only like is more spreechiest, but her story too was like really well done
[00:49:04] and finding out about her background with like her and Ruvik's childhood and her burning
[00:49:10] and the barn and she's just like so fucked up.
[00:49:12] And then it brings more of this tragic element to a lot of these characters.
[00:49:21] And I don't know, it's just so good.
[00:49:22] And I love Tatiana.
[00:49:27] The having this sort of safe space that you go back to like the safe room and being cleared
[00:49:37] on the moon is like that music, always fantastic. But having her just be so fun and mysterious,
[00:49:44] it's like so delicious and that Aryan general is delicious.
[00:49:49] Oh, it's delicious.
[00:49:50] Like you're she just has all of these like little comments that she makes that just you're like
[00:49:56] okay like what are you?
[00:49:58] Who are you?
[00:49:58] Are you a figment of your imagination?
[00:50:00] Are you a part of like like how are you here?
[00:50:04] Like what?
[00:50:05] Like I don't know there's just so many questions to be had and then
[00:50:09] that area kind of like when you come back and you look at the magazine rack and on the walls,
[00:50:16] like the picture's changed.
[00:50:17] And the news articles changed to give you more context of like what is going on in the whole story.
[00:50:25] But then like little bit in pieces about the other characters and then having
[00:50:30] like towards the end of the game, I think it's like you find
[00:50:34] and talking on is like missing person's poster.
[00:50:37] And then she disappears from the safe area and she's just never back.
[00:50:40] She never comes back.
[00:50:41] And it's just so it's all so cool.
[00:50:43] Like I just love that so much.
[00:50:46] I would pay good money to watch you play through layers with layers of here
[00:50:53] because it does a lot of that stuff where it's like you walk into a room
[00:50:56] and you're like, I can't figure out what it was supposed to do.
[00:50:58] And then you turn around and you're like, wait a second.
[00:51:00] I came through a door and now there's no door.
[00:51:02] And then you turn around again.
[00:51:03] Sure.
[00:51:03] Yeah, it is very short.
[00:51:04] I watched Cerner washing layers of fear and I didn't find a scary.
[00:51:08] It got bored.
[00:51:09] Well, all the more reason for you to actually play it because I feel like you would actually find
[00:51:12] it a lot scarier if you're playing it.
[00:51:14] Probably.
[00:51:14] But I just ultimately kind of kind of seem boring.
[00:51:17] I actually really like layers of fear.
[00:51:19] The first one is like just a cool like haunted house,
[00:51:23] like just mess with your head kind of game.
[00:51:26] I think it does a lot of that stuff really well.
[00:51:29] But going back to what you're saying about evil within,
[00:51:31] I distinctly remember when I played evil within
[00:51:35] my only complaint was that had those god damned black bars
[00:51:40] on the top.
[00:51:41] And I was just like how do you turn this off?
[00:51:43] Like I don't, why is it always look like it's like in a cutscene?
[00:51:47] And I guess you sound like my grandpa by now.
[00:51:51] The widescreen DVD.
[00:51:53] How do you get rid of the black bars?
[00:51:55] I don't know.
[00:51:57] Something about it.
[00:51:57] I just didn't like, but I remember that quite literally being my only complaint for that game.
[00:52:02] Well good news and updated versions.
[00:52:05] Yeah, you could take them off.
[00:52:06] You can take them off.
[00:52:08] Also want to say that for evil within
[00:52:13] for people who are like do play and are into,
[00:52:17] you know, it being as hard as possible, there is the the mode that's like
[00:52:21] the whole game's like in black and white.
[00:52:23] And it's like super fucking hard.
[00:52:25] So that's kind of cool.
[00:52:27] And amazing DLC.
[00:52:31] I think it's called the consequence
[00:52:33] that's where you play as Kidman.
[00:52:36] The evil within is actually free right now.
[00:52:39] Really?
[00:52:40] Yeah, I see that pop up.
[00:52:41] Epic games on Epic.
[00:52:43] I think also it's like on game pass and stuff.
[00:52:47] It could be.
[00:52:48] That's the game so.
[00:52:50] Yeah, yeah.
[00:52:51] Not everybody has game pass though.
[00:52:53] No, but they have free people there.
[00:52:55] There's access out there pretty easy to get access.
[00:52:59] Yeah, no, it's like I just think it's so cool.
[00:53:03] Like the whole idea all of it's just like really interesting and
[00:53:09] yeah, but I can't I really liked it.
[00:53:13] Watching it was like super fun.
[00:53:16] Yeah, no, it was it was fantastic.
[00:53:18] I I swear like my only complaint complaint at the time
[00:53:22] was quite literally those black bars.
[00:53:25] That was it.
[00:53:25] That was my only complaint.
[00:53:27] And I actually I am in the the few
[00:53:32] that I like to evil within two more than the evil within one.
[00:53:37] I really I really liked evil within two.
[00:53:42] I think that here's the evil within two.
[00:53:46] There's the first like boss area,
[00:53:51] like the first one is really cool.
[00:53:53] The Pentegrin.
[00:53:54] I liked that.
[00:53:55] I thought that was good.
[00:53:56] I just am not a fan of
[00:54:00] being like his daughter and his wife were actually alive.
[00:54:05] And I don't know because a lot of his character
[00:54:11] from the first one was like he is
[00:54:16] something that made like the psychological
[00:54:19] horror aspects of evil within pretty great was like you were inside
[00:54:24] in a way inside his head.
[00:54:26] And he clearly was such like a fractured person that
[00:54:32] like he was questioning his own sanity
[00:54:37] until it was like revealed that this was they were in like
[00:54:40] stem and all this kind of stuff.
[00:54:41] But there was this kind of question of like oh is this alcoholic
[00:54:48] you know cop with PTSD whose wife and kid has died
[00:54:52] is like this real is it's not real.
[00:54:56] And it was pretty interesting.
[00:54:57] And then kind of having him be pretty
[00:55:00] were kind of work through that.
[00:55:02] And I don't know.
[00:55:07] And having setting up the stuff with him in
[00:55:09] Rubik and like
[00:55:12] Mobius and all this whatever.
[00:55:14] And then having the second one kind of be like oh but your daughter is alive
[00:55:18] and that's what's motivating you now
[00:55:20] and you do it all for love.
[00:55:21] And then like weird stuff with his wife at the end
[00:55:24] like really really kind of brought all of it down.
[00:55:28] Yeah, I can see how that could do that.
[00:55:31] For like for for you especially because
[00:55:33] you're much more in tune with the story aspects of games and stuff.
[00:55:40] Yeah, I messed up.
[00:55:41] I'm sorry and I know it sounds messed up but like I don't
[00:55:48] like the on EZ of like introducing Lily back was kind of like
[00:55:54] this is supposed to be an easy way for you to care about this character
[00:55:57] and what's going to happen and Sebastian's motivations because that's the father
[00:56:01] and that's his daughter.
[00:56:03] I'm sorry but like I'm not attached to Lily.
[00:56:05] I don't care who she is because you've not.
[00:56:08] The game hasn't really done a whole lot to like
[00:56:11] show you their relationship or I just feel like using oh this is a wife and this is a kid
[00:56:17] is a really like in stories it's kind of like a shorthand
[00:56:22] to get people to care about stuff and without having to put in as much effort
[00:56:27] to make you actually invested in what's happening because
[00:56:31] you're just as a human being you're supposed to be like oh I immediately empathize but
[00:56:37] they're not real and so I don't care immediately.
[00:56:42] So I tend to just get annoyed when stories are greeted and it's like they use these
[00:56:49] like shorthands to get people to just be invested without having to really put the work in
[00:56:56] in the writing.
[00:56:59] Yeah something funny though is for a long time whenever people will talk about the evil within
[00:57:07] and like this is like kind of like the reason to for some reason in my stupid brain
[00:57:13] I would get the evil within and shadows of the damned mixed up in my head.
[00:57:19] So was it the damned?
[00:57:20] Yeah do you know that game?
[00:57:22] No.
[00:57:23] Is that the game where the on the cover of the guy has some like weird skull gun?
[00:57:27] Yes.
[00:57:28] Okay you know what the game's not that bad it's pretty cheesy but it's not that bad.
[00:57:36] I wonder if we ever will get another evil within
[00:57:40] yeah even though I think didn't Shinjima Kami say that there was no plans to
[00:57:44] he doesn't look like that company anymore so yeah I know I know that he he laughs but I feel like
[00:57:49] before so that now that he's going like like like looking me like well let's make
[00:57:52] another evil with the different.
[00:57:53] Here's my type dream.
[00:57:57] Let's hear it.
[00:58:00] That okay so there was probably no way there was then they were going to do like in third evil
[00:58:06] within before the acquisition like Microsoft acquisition of the centimax because they don't think
[00:58:15] the support financially was there but I'm hoping that because evil within is on game pass
[00:58:21] and hope maybe like people are rediscovering it that eventually there's like enough support there
[00:58:32] and money now because they you know have Microsoft money.
[00:58:38] Those MS books.
[00:58:39] They got those MS books that they'll do a third one like it doesn't have to be a big thing but like
[00:58:46] I said they kind of did leave the fate of like Leslie and Rubik and all of that kind of up in the
[00:58:56] air and it feels very unsettled and with two they kind of completely they didn't touch on that
[00:59:04] stuff at all into thought like but at the very end there was the tease that STEM wasn't actually
[00:59:10] completely shut down and like people kind of like who are they teasing that Rubik is still inside
[00:59:15] STEM at the end of two so like that doesn't feel completely resolved which would be great to find out
[00:59:23] about I don't know if you're really good.
[00:59:26] If the evil within three comes out you'll have to watch me play it because I will do that.
[00:59:30] Sure we'll be playing that.
[00:59:32] Yeah I will say with like I know you like to evil into your more I think the beginning of evil
[00:59:38] into you is like incredibly strong like all the way up until the um all the way up until you're
[00:59:46] you're done with that first guy I think it's like very good.
[00:59:50] Yeah the weird cult leader guy is not great and then obviously I think they really just dropped
[00:59:56] the ball with his wife so that kind of sucked but um I was gonna say like the last thing with
[01:00:04] the consequences DLC was um the way you saved is uh you sat on a bench and pedicapped so how can
[01:00:11] you oh my god that's awesome.
[01:00:15] Stroke and cats to save um there's everything cool enemies great design very out in the
[01:00:22] spirit super mind bendy and cats.
[01:00:25] Now I am glad that you you mentioned something and I'm super glad that you said it about the evil
[01:00:33] within about like how uh a horror game doesn't necessarily have to just be like flat out horror
[01:00:41] jump scares like a lot of it comes down to like design and like atmosphere and stuff like that.
[01:00:47] Really really glad that you said that it's gonna make a much stronger uh case for what I'm
[01:00:54] gonna say and what I'm gonna say is probably gonna make some people mad so no good people in the internet
[01:01:02] being mad though people might argue that there's no chance that this is a horror game and I will say
[01:01:11] kiss my ass it's a horror game to me um kiss the ball on dream test.
[01:01:19] Before I say what it is though the one of the things that I had that I was like just wrestling
[01:01:25] in my brain and I didn't I didn't go with this one but I do want to I just want to shout it out
[01:01:30] because I truly believe it is the scariest thing I've played like almost ever oh my god tell us
[01:01:38] the game please p t was the scariest thing I've ever played to this day you won that cheer
[01:01:47] he come no that's not but that's not my pick that was my that was what I was wrestling in my brain
[01:01:52] like a bitch that was my fake yeah yeah uh but I mean here's the stupid one here's the stupid one
[01:02:01] I would say if I if like when I was thinking about this today and I I have so much
[01:02:08] about this bad air lunch break to think about this and I was like no that is a horror game well
[01:02:16] it's a horror game to me my pick is bloodborne all right okay
[01:02:27] well you know yeah I guess it's like it's it's cut to pre-grotesque mother fuckers exactly and
[01:02:33] going back to what that's saying about the evil within the design of all the monsters is horrific
[01:02:38] like you got some insanely grotesque monsters it is very much cosmic horror oh yeah right
[01:02:47] like it's it's it checks all of the boxes for horror other than like well I honestly
[01:02:53] I don't think you can even cross off oh it doesn't have jump scares because I got pretty
[01:02:57] fucking scared a few times when like a guy will just like bust out from behind like a crate or
[01:03:03] something and then start attacking you I always thought that bloodborne was like the perfect
[01:03:10] combination of it was like kind of like a Castlevania kind of thing like to me anyways um
[01:03:18] and it's funny too because when I was looking up the 2023 horror games one of the ones that was
[01:03:24] listed here is lies of pee which is that new Pinocchio game that is very much bloodborne
[01:03:32] souls kind of feeling um and after seeing that too I was like yeah I mean
[01:03:39] I I guess that because for some reason the back of my head I was like bloodborne is
[01:03:45] the the best horror game that I've ever played but then I was like wrestling with it internally
[01:03:50] just being like wait that's not really a horror game I guess but I it is but it is I do
[01:03:57] will bloodborne genre one of the ones that come up says survival horror for bloodborne
[01:04:03] we got I hit wait even your hell rage with yourself
[01:04:08] I said blood it says it's an action role playing game action adventure uh survival horror
[01:04:16] so I mean I mean it checks the box the fuck it checks the box is you know horror it's it's scary
[01:04:22] spooky shit your pants survival you you live so yeah I mean it's yeah the gamer.com says
[01:04:32] bloodborne is peak survival horror the gamer the story or lady or or they so yeah
[01:04:42] the gamer.com I think that's a clickbait website I know it is and I click on the best survival horror
[01:04:49] games out there it's survival horror is the wrong word to use I think well that Jerry you're
[01:04:54] arguing yourself out of your pick no I didn't say pick the best survival horror game and I'm trying
[01:05:00] to help I'm not the game Jerry come on yeah talk about the game for games you said I'm a bitch
[01:05:09] but if it wasn't bloodborne what's in it and it wasn't PT I mean what else could it be though like
[01:05:17] are you still choosing again this was out of so Jerry you just talk about every
[01:05:25] burning that would play it in constantly troll like this
[01:05:29] there's so very on brand for Jerry to not be able to pick one thing oh my god yeah guys
[01:05:34] is not bloodborne it's it's it's Resident Evil 7 and it's it's always gonna be Resident Evil 7
[01:05:42] until the only Resident Evil 7 on VR my true real real pick is
[01:05:48] yeah no fooling no no Josh and you're not pulling my leg it was such a fantastic experience I think
[01:05:59] I mean it could have been roasted into glasses because that literally was like
[01:06:03] the kind of like the first big thing that I played in VR other than like VR quote-unquote experiences
[01:06:10] you know I played I played that Batman thing I played a couple other things like I played job simulator
[01:06:14] I was like oh this is fun this is cool the Batman yeah the Batman that kind of sucks but like
[01:06:20] you know then I throw on Resident Evil 7 it's like oh this is a full ass game like not
[01:06:25] not a half ass game this is a full ass game from start to finish in VR and I can't think
[01:06:33] of very many other games that have scared me that bad not to mention that was such a turning point
[01:06:40] for the series like it or hate it where they went to like all in on the first person stuff and
[01:06:48] I gotta say I really really really enjoyed that like I enjoyed the set piece of just exploring
[01:06:56] that rundown chain Texas chainsaw looking ass house like all that was so fun and like the characters
[01:07:04] were super memorable the opening to that is probably one of the best Resident Evil openings in the
[01:07:10] series other than four because like the village in four is probably the best it's that way cowboy
[01:07:19] that's a reference maybe two people will get please fill us in so the very beginning of
[01:07:29] Resident Evil 4 if you go away from the if you try to if you as soon as you get out of the car
[01:07:34] if you try to walk the opposite way away from the village the dude in the car will be like it's
[01:07:39] that way cowboy and yeah that's cute I did not look look look at us yeah learning things about
[01:07:47] Resident Evil 4 even now I did not know that that's not something I knew and I know quite a
[01:07:52] like like eight dozen times holy shit that's a lot of dozens not not literally I'm just being I'm
[01:07:57] just being we'll silly but yeah no no trawling it is Resident Evil 7 hands down I you know I
[01:08:08] I thought about bloodborne I was like yeah man it's a horror game right like it's for sure
[01:08:13] horror you but like it's not it's not really I mean it's got it's got elements and like PT PT
[01:08:19] wasn't really like an actual full game it was just kind of like an experience that's fair my
[01:08:26] shoes terrifying I think the only thing that scared me worse than PT and Resident Evil 7 and VR
[01:08:34] is probably the mortuary system oh fuck that fuck that I don't know I have some bug at
[01:08:40] these motherfuckers were like Jerry you should play mortuary systems the demos out and it's for free
[01:08:45] and I was like wasn't even these motherfuckers or just maybe like hey I think this game might scare
[01:08:50] you or something yeah I think it was not me I showed up and you guys were like we're gonna
[01:08:56] play this thing here want to watch and I was like okay sure no the best part of it was I wasn't
[01:09:01] in there yeah you weren't nope nope I'm playing I think I saw I saw like a little bit like a
[01:09:08] screenshot two both no I was watching so I was watching Jerry play it and I was it got to the point
[01:09:15] where I was just looking at my desk because I couldn't look at the screen anymore and Jerry was
[01:09:22] just screaming about being on top of like a cabinet or something me and just yelling so it was like
[01:09:29] me like pulled up in a ball looking at the ground and with Jerry yelling and fear in my ears
[01:09:35] like I'm drunk that was yeah that was the first game in a very very long time that I actually
[01:09:42] nooped out of and just alt F4 like I'm out I'm done I've seen enough my heart can't take much more
[01:09:50] this and I saw it's little feedies oh I was there I was oh yeah yeah you yeah that was that was
[01:09:57] the thing that like really fucked me up was the fact that I think Beth you were like oh did you
[01:10:03] and you were like you freaked out because you see something that I didn't and I was like what what's
[01:10:07] going on and then I'm like slowly looking around like just moving my mouse ever so slightly like
[01:10:13] around and I'm like I don't see anything and I'm so scared and then I like slowly move it up
[01:10:18] and I just see feet and hands on the top of the cabinet and I was like I'm done I'm and the crazy
[01:10:25] thing about that game is it doesn't always have like these like loud noise jump scares it's just
[01:10:32] like things will just appear on screen you're like I didn't like that didn't like that at all don't
[01:10:37] want to look at that ever again in my life and just looking at screenshots and I'm already like
[01:10:42] terrified have you not seen this game no I know what you're talking about the spooktio it's got
[01:10:48] like dark circles around a size and it's my ah that's so just imagine just imagine being a
[01:10:56] white man yeah it's the white devil um the thing that fear the thing that so many of us are afraid of
[01:11:03] what they say it on Ace Ventura uh equates swolcha or whatever the fuck bumblebee tuna
[01:11:11] uh there we go but yeah I I don't know man that that game really really fucks me up god no way
[01:11:19] and there's a part of me that's like I think I need to go back and I need to play the full thing
[01:11:24] cuz like finish it up yeah finished the demo oh it's like a warhead candy bro like what once you
[01:11:31] get past like how sour it is it's just this is just piece candy is playing not no not the same goes
[01:11:37] the horror games right I have a I have a friend that has that has played through it and he said
[01:11:42] it doesn't let up like it's it's pretty god damn scary the whole way through because it keeps
[01:11:47] it keeps messing with you and like the fact that again that you've seen the screenshot of that
[01:11:51] thing just imagine like you're already tense enough because you're working on a dead body that
[01:11:55] sometimes you're like did I just see it move no did I I don't know so like you're freaking your
[01:12:00] own self out but then like shit like that you'll just like look around the room and see that
[01:12:05] and it doesn't make a sound there's no jump scare it's just there you know um so why
[01:12:10] I add for context like it's at night so you're working you're like working in a moratorium after
[01:12:17] hours basically and it's uh there's no music there's like no sound really it's so like it's not
[01:12:25] like there's atmospheric music or anything like that it just is like the sound of like the wind
[01:12:31] and the wheels as you're moving around the and then just hearing like some of the like the scraps
[01:12:37] just yeah and like you'll hear like the fucking one of those things called the little cubby holes
[01:12:42] that you put dead bodies in on the on the like the freezers yeah like you'll hear like one of
[01:12:48] those like slam shot be holes go put your bodies in the copy um but yeah now that game is
[01:12:58] terrifying also shout out to another really bad jump scare that I got I think that was very early
[01:13:03] on in this year um was when Beth you and I were playing poppy playtime and then uh yeah
[01:13:09] yeah that was so fucking and then I got in trouble it's been a long time since I got a
[01:13:15] I can remember that but yeah cuz I screamed super super loud and then Karen came up and was like
[01:13:23] what the fuck are you doing and I was like right I'm playing she's like I don't you know what I
[01:13:29] don't care what you're doing why are you screaming and I was like I'm scared because the
[01:13:35] giant blue man came out from get out of my room group came oh it was scary that was nuts
[01:13:41] crawling through that like yeah it was like a pipe or something or a no it was just it was an
[01:13:45] open of giant open doorway and it was so it was like a black all open doorway and we were walking
[01:13:51] up to it after you finish like a puzzle or something and then it like like like ducks in and like kind
[01:13:59] of oh yeah does the crouch and like ducks and this is giant like and it stands to full height and
[01:14:06] it's this massive tall like yeah that game had the scares yeah that's giving me alien isolation vibes
[01:14:13] for sure watching that motherfucker like just crawl out of a vent like it's like the ducking down
[01:14:21] to like almost like crawl into a space that most normal people would just be able to walk through
[01:14:26] and then having to stand back up to full height it's like so throw up yeah now that now that I
[01:14:34] have shared like some like because we've gotten through our lists we've got Aaron with Dead Space
[01:14:41] Greg also with Dead Space but then Resident Evil 2 for his his secondary pick Beth with evil within
[01:14:48] and myself with PT Bloodborne and R.E. 7 VR but one thing that always interests me what's the worst
[01:15:01] jump scares that like because like those are some of the worst jump scares I've ever gotten like
[01:15:05] ever the the jump scare in PT probably the fastest I've ever crawled at my own skin was just hearing
[01:15:13] the radio being like don't turn around and then I'm like wait what and I turn around and oh my god
[01:15:20] Lisa just grabs me and oh I was like what the what is this radio talking about is it like what
[01:15:28] what could be in here and yeah I got got real that's so funny um but like Aaron can you think of
[01:15:36] one of the worst jump scares that you've ever gotten from a game oh okay okay so going back
[01:15:44] alien isolation right almost like it should have been my fuck at pick but sorry sorry Greg sorry again
[01:15:56] so fuck that alien isolation is such a good job of exactly like the fucking name of the game says
[01:16:05] it perfectly encapsulates being isolated like it's literally just you in the the fucking
[01:16:10] Nostromo or whatever and so so you're just running around and of course um I'm gonna kind of
[01:16:19] build up to my my jump scare so like if the entire big fucking ship this game takes place on it's
[01:16:24] literally just you the alien and occasionally some Android's so uh one time I was just in a room
[01:16:32] uh minding my fucking business there's like one half of the room is like it's on fire because like
[01:16:39] some machinery malfunctioned or something and I'm just like okay whatever you know it's on fire
[01:16:45] something fucking exploded probably whatever I'm gonna go explore the inside of the room
[01:16:48] then I'm just looting through shit finding materials to build something and uh and then I'm like okay
[01:16:54] well I'm done here I guess I'll go check the next room so I turn around and then there's these
[01:16:57] there's like two androids walking through the fucking fire through this like fiery wreckage
[01:17:03] they're on fire and they're coming like right at me in mind you it's a small room it's not very big
[01:17:07] at all it's pretty fucking small they're just walking at me and one like grabs me and shows me
[01:17:12] and uh then yeah I I fucking I jumped super far about fill out a much better
[01:17:19] yeah that's so freaky I love it
[01:17:22] Greg find that clip I'm pretty sure I made a clip of that on next box
[01:17:25] Greg is there a time that you got a really bad jump scare that you can remember
[01:17:29] yeah it was playing through pt the first time I was playing with um with my roommate and uh we both
[01:17:36] audibly screamed and it's the first time a game or not screamed but like made a sound
[01:17:42] and it's the first time a game has made me do that was it like when normally I have the stoicism
[01:17:48] of the warrior uh wasn't the first and last time has there ever been another
[01:17:53] no there hasn't been another instance seriously you've not gotten a jump scare from anything else
[01:17:58] not a jumps here I have a status down oh well yeah I guess that's that's the true ones when you actually
[01:18:04] scream like I did um I I'm assuming that it's when Lisa like grabs you probably I think I
[01:18:13] certainly in fact I think I jumped pretty hard to like the first time just like looking around
[01:18:19] before really even realizing that it was a horror game or what the fuck the game was and looking
[01:18:24] in that doorway and then just seeing her appear in the crack of the door and then just sing in the
[01:18:29] relationship holy fuck my soul left my body I love that uh sometimes I think about the um what the
[01:18:39] paper bag says from pt off like I'll do enough that I'm kind of like I don't know why it's stuck
[01:18:48] with me so much but like I'm sure they only me as me are you sure the only you is you
[01:18:54] and we say that to each other all the time yeah like it really stuck like it's that's
[01:18:59] what I'm really good it's really too bad what happened to pt yeah honestly like that could have been
[01:19:06] in another timeline that could have been like the greatest horror game of all time oh that's
[01:19:10] the classic Konami for you yeah well here's hoping that they make good on it with Silent Hill are
[01:19:16] I'm still like I don't know what a game is gonna be about really um but or no not our
[01:19:24] f Silent Hill f the new one that's coming out I'm hoping that it's gonna be good I'm hoping
[01:19:30] that somehow it captures the same insane scaryness that pt had but I truly doubted I I don't see
[01:19:42] the matching that but I could be wrong I would love to be wrong um Beth is there a time
[01:19:49] that you've gotten what you would consider the worst jump scare ever absolutely for sure they're
[01:19:58] uh I guess to set the scene I was in it was when I was in residence in university and on Fridays like
[01:20:06] me and a group of people we'd go down to like the communal room and there was like a tv and we play
[01:20:14] horror games and we'll one person play horror game and we kind of all watched and it was outlast
[01:20:21] the first outlast and it's the it's the part where you're outside in like kind of like this little
[01:20:29] uh like court the court area and there's like little dips and hills and I don't know why but
[01:20:35] there's like it looks like they're I remember correctly it was honestly there was a tiny little like
[01:20:42] like shrine or something and there was uh like a little hill like a little mound but the camera could
[01:20:47] sort of see over the top of the the um hill and the oh my god and this is why I can't handle horror
[01:20:58] because sometimes it's like I feel like I notice stuff more than other people do or like at least
[01:21:03] quicker because similar to the moratorium thing I the thunder and lightning was you know thunder
[01:21:10] lightning was going off and then like the lightning crash and like just at the top part of the screen
[01:21:16] I saw that the big bulky guy was on the other side of the um of the side of the courtyard and he
[01:21:23] started running at us but no one else did when I saw it I screamed at the top of my lungs
[01:21:32] jumped up and like vaulted over the back of the couch and hit and so everyone else was like
[01:21:40] like turning to look at what I was doing while the uh big dude was like like running at our character
[01:21:48] on and so they all turned like look at me who just like jumped behind the couch to hide and then
[01:21:56] they all turned look back and then they all screamed because he was like writing the camera right
[01:22:00] up in the camera by the time they looked back but like so maybe my the biggest jump scare I ever had
[01:22:06] because a bunch of other people too so have a giant jump scare fuck but that was the scariest thing
[01:22:14] and yeah I think anything that makes me so afraid that I curl like like hurt myself over
[01:22:20] I thought you said hurl like you threw up all right I almost did no like throw myself over the back
[01:22:25] of a couch uh yeah that was yeah say what you will about outlast also another one of my favorite
[01:22:31] games so freaking um I love outlast and outlast too is really good too yeah it was um
[01:22:38] we so I watched like played through like watching on play through the whole game and that was my
[01:22:43] experience was like it was um whoever was playing I don't remember but there was like four or five of
[01:22:48] us who would go uh to this room every Friday and like play for a couple hours so it was like really
[01:22:54] fun having that as like this like group experience that way yeah but it was so scary that was
[01:23:01] that like I actually like felt like my like you know the expression like you left out of your skin
[01:23:09] it's I was having that moments oh god that was real scary I remember having a few moments like that
[01:23:15] the first time I ever played amnesia so we got quite scared from that that was another game we had
[01:23:21] played amnesia is what we played before outlast in that I think outlast is actually this might be a
[01:23:27] hot take but I think outlast is scarier than amnesia I know amnesia is kind of touted as like
[01:23:32] the the first like new age really really scary game and it is it's
[01:23:36] age but like I don't know I think outlast just had much better execution the only
[01:23:43] the only problem with outlast is like it's just kind of like lost steam yeah a lot of
[01:23:49] a lot of get a lot of those like types of horror games kind of like overstay they're welcome
[01:23:53] and then it by then it's like the things that we're scary before yeah become annoying that's
[01:23:57] the resident evil problem by the anniversary you're like oh yeah check out this rocket launcher real
[01:24:02] quick and there's just like who gives a shit about zombies I got a fucking rocket launcher but yeah
[01:24:09] I'm I agree with you because I think like amnesia so like outlast had way more moments that were
[01:24:15] truly like I kind of want to throw up because I'm so freaked out well well executed too though some
[01:24:22] of the some of the scares and exactly anything for the amnesia it was a lot more just like you
[01:24:28] but clenching versus vomit inducing oh yeah type of fear I think to like
[01:24:36] besides jump scares I think one of the like scariest game like just overall scariest things I've ever
[01:24:41] played is fatal frame two on PS2 yeah oh because like there's nothing more like I think that's
[01:24:48] part of what made outlast so scary you have nothing to defend yourself you have a camera that can
[01:24:52] like have night vision yeah kind of in the same way that fatal frame if all you could do is
[01:24:59] wait for the god damn ghost to get up in your face and then take a picture of it like that was
[01:25:05] terrifying in the whole game the entire game like that was one of those instances where even
[01:25:11] toward the end of the game you didn't get some new crazy spirit camera that was just like a shotgun no
[01:25:17] like you still had the same camera and the ghost just got crazier as it went on like it's just yeah
[01:25:24] you really have to keep your composure like the whole time yeah shut out the fatal frame I kind of
[01:25:31] I really want to get those the remakes of those two that like the the Wii U one camera what they're called
[01:25:39] a master of the lunar eclipse and the black 3ds one that's just called spirit camera no no not that
[01:25:49] piece of shit not that one um yeah random yeah random thing random this very random it was like you
[01:26:00] can cut this if you want Jerry did you ever finish watching uh summertime rendering no I only seen
[01:26:08] like the first that first episode should I go back and watch that absolutely just certain things
[01:26:14] when you talk about like fatal frame it's not always not same but like there's
[01:26:20] I don't know if you should you should you should finish that what I mean if we want to have a hot
[01:26:24] anime moment here then we can because I mean Greg recently watched a full-ass anime
[01:26:32] which is which one oh I watch the start to finish jojo's
[01:26:37] yeah I was just thinking that I was like oh I hope his jojo yeah baby that's also another one of my
[01:26:44] favorites for a full two weeks Greg was just like sending me like a clip like once a week to spend
[01:26:49] like this is why you need to watch the show and this is why you need to watch this show you do need
[01:26:53] to watch the show I do there's a motherfucker that can grow mold dude the flesh eating mold there's
[01:26:59] a dude that can swim through solid matter there's a dude that's who there's a dude there's a dude who
[01:27:05] stands power is literally just he can control the fucking temperature of no no no no we'll do
[01:27:13] no no we'll talk about something else I'm also getting back into attack on Titan
[01:27:23] I forgot how insanely good that show is it is one of only two
[01:27:29] anime's that I have ever gotten my girlfriend to watch with me attack on Titan and death note
[01:27:35] they're the only ones she's ever enjoyed so shout out to those and I will take Beth's recommendation
[01:27:43] to get back in the summertime rendering I like it when an anime is like a one-season thing
[01:27:47] it's a one in done and it's so good the uh to here I am being that person but the manga is excellent
[01:27:57] like I get Jesus but there's an anime there's an anime that is beautiful I know I'm the worst but
[01:28:04] it was great and I'm totally recommend Jerry if you enjoy one hitter quitter you should watch a
[01:28:10] comic got killed who Lee shit this then shit good oh my god guess we're gonna have to have
[01:28:16] full on anime conversation good on vlog guys if girl is good damn well before we get going
[01:28:24] I also just wanted to say that uh this year has been an absolute banger of a year uh for some
[01:28:30] horror games whether it's you know the the tippy top with dead space remake and resident before
[01:28:37] remake and like I mean I don't like to use anything out yet who knows that could be another
[01:28:42] like we can calm down with 2023 like we can get a couple of eighties or something
[01:28:47] like we not everything has to come out and be like a fucking 90 something um because I mean this
[01:28:53] wasn't the play sport but you can bet your ass I'm gonna talk about Mario wonder on the next episode
[01:28:59] of super goes because I have had some time with Mario wonder and it is a wonderful experience well
[01:29:06] let me tell you I like taking those acid trip flowers and seeing what the level will do it's a lot
[01:29:11] of fun um it's also been a fucking crazy year for horror movies like evil dead rise was insane I went
[01:29:20] to the theaters and I've never been so long yeah but it's been so crazy like it's been crazy
[01:29:28] move and I mean Karen and I just finished the fall of the house of usher on the weekend that was
[01:29:33] fantastic you know TV show by Mike Flanagan the guy that brought you haunting a hillhouse
[01:29:39] and midnight mass uh it's just horror is just here to stay all right it's just it's so good across all
[01:29:47] mediums it's on a little bit of a renaissance it's the based I mean there's no denying it's it's so
[01:29:53] good ever mostly everybody that I talk to likes horror in some capacity whether it's a game or whether
[01:30:01] you know it's funny because sometimes someone will be like I don't like horror I'm like yeah do
[01:30:04] you like gremlins and they're like love gremlins when yeah it's a horror movie or horror adjacent
[01:30:09] or whatever but yeah so I apologize that I trolled you guys with with with my bloodborne and my
[01:30:18] my PT but hey it's just like you love horror games so much I do talk about as many as possible we
[01:30:25] know Jerry and the opportunity for the horror guy to talk about horror show you what you need to
[01:30:31] yeah that's right it's our show we can do it we make a rule yeah it's our rules don't care um
[01:30:40] but yeah so Aaron thank you so much for coming on here today buddy it's absolutely been a pleasure
[01:30:47] and it always is getting together with you and Tommy too bad Tommy couldn't be here I know may
[01:30:52] he rest Tommy yeah you can't handle horror games so he would have like nothing to say this entire
[01:31:02] episode he'd just be like cril up in a little ball like Luigi shaken basically you know he
[01:31:08] knows how to do just mansion that's what we do we we we started YouTube series of Beth and Tommy
[01:31:13] playing horror games like what ever gets done that would be so boring these two people standing
[01:31:19] like the starting room that's yeah we gotta let's line that up line that up uh so
[01:31:25] uh not Tommy no because he's not real he doesn't exist uh Aaron tell the folks where they could find

[01:32:20] because they couldn't couldn't get that uh and we do have a one video up so far of our playthrough
[01:32:27] of the devil and me uh go watch me get absolutely obliterated by a log for I don't know 25 minutes
[01:32:35] um and yeah so that's too long yeah I was pain I couldn't help it
[01:32:42] it was the game you seen wasn't me it's the children who are wrong I will say um when you were doing
[01:32:51] it like when I was watching you do it and then also watching that video both times I was tempted to
[01:32:57] just buy the game to get to the log to see if it go ahead I don't want to spend money just to see
[01:33:03] if it's uh go ahead if it's actually that hard or you're just that bad be my guest as they say in
[01:33:09] Beauty and the Beast uh it's a PR guest to be our whatever anyways wrong again Jerry yeah
