[00:00:00] Dude, I got propositioned by the incarcerated all the time. He's like, hey man, I give you so much money, I'm like, let me see the money first.
[00:00:09] Yeah! Where's the money? Put the money in my hand.
[00:00:12] He never had the money.
[00:00:14] It's so fucking funny.
[00:00:19] Did you see that Mike Tyson fight?
[00:00:26] I did not watch it, but I heard it didn't go well.
[00:00:31] Did you see the picture of Mike Tyson walk away with his naked ass cheeks to the camera?
[00:00:38] No, I haven't seen that one.
[00:00:40] He did a pre-fight interview and they were like, alright, good luck out there. And he turned around and he didn't have pants on.
[00:00:49] The camera really quick zoomed up.
[00:00:53] So, was that intended? Like, was that a scripted goof?
[00:00:58] That was, I don't think it was, uh...
[00:01:01] I don't think it was intended. Let me see if I can find the video real quick.
[00:01:06] Like when they leave the Starbucks cups and the Game of Thrones scenes as subtle marketing?
[00:01:11] Or advertisements?
[00:01:13] Is that subtle marketing or is it, I don't know if that's on purpose or not.
[00:01:16] Oh, I put it in the Discord, not in the Zencastr.
[00:01:18] You told me Mike Tyson showed his cheeks on accident.
[00:01:24] God, Mike Tyson shows his booty before the Jake Paul fight.
[00:01:29] I don't even know why I'm talking about this. We can't show this on the thumbnail.
[00:01:33] Definitely not.
[00:01:36] How awesome is that?
[00:01:39] No one said anything?
[00:01:40] I guess that's just how he walks around before a fight.
[00:01:43] Yeah!
[00:01:44] I don't know.
[00:01:45] Maybe they just didn't see...
[00:01:47] The whole interview is facing the camera, so maybe they just didn't know.
[00:01:51] You know, maybe the only time they saw him was...
[00:01:54] That he was wearing asses chaps.
[00:01:54] Yeah!
[00:01:57] Yeah.
[00:01:58] Anyway.
[00:01:59] Now, the only thing I heard about the fight was that it was all staged.
[00:02:04] Yeah, that's what everyone's saying.
[00:02:06] Except for the other fights.
[00:02:08] Like, the pre-fights or whatever.
[00:02:10] But all the judges are rigged against some...
[00:02:13] The girl fight, maybe?
[00:02:14] I'm not sure.
[00:02:15] Yeah. I mean, I agree.
[00:02:18] So there were two championship fights.
[00:02:20] And then the first fight and the last fight, the Mike Tyson fight,
[00:02:23] they were like an influencer fighting somebody.
[00:02:25] And so they were clown shows.
[00:02:27] Oh, so it was like Brutal Moose up there against...
[00:02:31] I don't know, Doug Doug.
[00:02:32] Doug Doug would whoop Brutal Moose.
[00:02:34] Yeah, Brutal Moose would be fucked.
[00:02:35] I don't know.
[00:02:36] Unless Brutal Moose could have powers.
[00:02:39] You know how he edits a bunch of them?
[00:02:40] Yeah, like, he could have, like, fucking clone jutsu going on.
[00:02:44] Just a bunch of them.
[00:02:45] But what would Doug have?
[00:02:47] What would it be his power?
[00:02:48] His power would be AI cheering him on.
[00:02:52] But he just gets angry with it whenever it tells him he's bald or bad at games or whatever.
[00:02:57] He gets demoralized.
[00:02:58] Yeah.
[00:03:00] And it gives him motivation to go on, yeah.
[00:03:03] Which all is just getting nagged by his chat is his goof constantly.
[00:03:10] Bad coder.
[00:03:11] He's like, I went to school for coding for so many years.
[00:03:15] You know what's funny?
[00:03:16] I was just talking to somebody about Overcooked.
[00:03:19] And they were like, who's your favorite character?
[00:03:22] And I'm like, I don't know.
[00:03:23] I just, like, pick one.
[00:03:23] And they're like, I like the raccoon in the wheelchair.
[00:03:26] And I was like...
[00:03:28] God damn it.
[00:03:30] He's got the most character.
[00:03:32] I guess so, yeah.
[00:03:34] He's got the tragic backstory, you know?
[00:03:36] Yeah, he was in the kitchen.
[00:03:37] You can empathize a lot more.
[00:03:38] The potato masher went a little wild.
[00:03:42] I don't even remember why that came up.
[00:03:45] Overcooked.
[00:03:46] I don't know.
[00:03:47] Doesn't matter.
[00:03:48] Alright, let's get started.
[00:03:49] Hello and welcome to Gaming Together, a cooperative podcast.
[00:03:51] I'm your host, Phillip, and I'm here with my co-op partner, Knave.
[00:03:54] Each pod we play through a cooperative experience and relay to you, the listener, this game is the crème de la crème of co-op.
[00:03:58] There's nothing better off playing solo.
[00:04:00] Hey, Knave, what's poppin'?
[00:04:02] Nothing.
[00:04:02] Uh, you know, it's fucking...
[00:04:04] It's that time of the year, you know?
[00:04:06] Christmas time, about to be Black Friday.
[00:04:09] Uh, we almost had tornadoes this morning.
[00:04:11] It was raining.
[00:04:12] And so that was awesome.
[00:04:14] It's fucking tough.
[00:04:15] It's a tough time of the year.
[00:04:16] I'm stressed.
[00:04:18] I bet it's hard being a mailman out there sweating it.
[00:04:21] Yeah.
[00:04:21] Meanwhile, I get in the car and I'm driving home from work and I look at it and it says negative one on my little car mounted thermometer reading thing or whatever.
[00:04:31] And I'm like, that can't be right.
[00:04:33] And no, I don't think it was right.
[00:04:35] It was like 12.
[00:04:36] 12.
[00:04:37] It's like broken now.
[00:04:38] Maybe.
[00:04:39] It didn't expect it.
[00:04:41] The, uh, the weird thing is, is that I'm so used to you being in Texas.
[00:04:44] You keep taking pictures and there's snow everywhere.
[00:04:46] And I'm like, what the fuck?
[00:04:47] Every time I see it, I like, I had to recalibrate.
[00:04:50] I'm still not used to you not being in Texas.
[00:04:52] Dude, I'm not used to not being in Texas.
[00:04:54] I've only, I've been here less than a month.
[00:04:56] I fucking, I fucking hate you for moving to Alaska, by the way, because now you're like, hey, hey, uh, is six o'clock good for the pod?
[00:05:04] And I'm like, yeah, sure.
[00:05:05] And he's like, that's nine o'clock or that's 10 o'clock for you.
[00:05:08] No, I specifically wrote six AK, which I assume you would understand is Alaska.
[00:05:14] No, I didn't understand it.
[00:05:15] Because Alaska has its own time zone.
[00:05:17] I didn't understand it, but you did follow up.
[00:05:19] And so I was like, oh, okay.
[00:05:20] Yeah, that's fine.
[00:05:21] I don't care.
[00:05:22] Yeah.
[00:05:23] Well, we are a video game podcast and we're going to be talking about, we love Katamari Reroll plus Royal Reverie.
[00:05:29] But before we get there, let's check in with what games we've been playing.
[00:05:32] Nave, what have we been playing?
[00:05:35] Um, I'm going to be playing Metaphor for a long time.
[00:05:39] And I have now cleared the fourth dungeon, I think.
[00:05:45] I have five party members.
[00:05:47] No, I have six party members.
[00:05:49] So I'm going around.
[00:05:50] Yeah.
[00:05:51] So the structure of the game, because it has the persona calendar.
[00:05:54] I'm not going to like spoil anything, but like it has the persona calendar and then you have a deadline to beat the main dungeon.
[00:06:02] And I beat the main dungeon like right away on this last one.
[00:06:06] And now I'm going around victory lapping, except I went to this one side mission and I got stuck on the boss.
[00:06:14] And for like three days, I wasn't like super hard trying hard, but I would like die like five or six times.
[00:06:19] And I'm like, I'm fucking done.
[00:06:20] I don't want to do it.
[00:06:21] And I fucked.
[00:06:23] I forgot.
[00:06:24] So the boss, like the quirk about it is that it gets, it does more damage and, and has more turns if you have people in the front row.
[00:06:35] So I just had people in the front row, because that's where you put your tank, right?
[00:06:38] And your main lane.
[00:06:39] That makes sense.
[00:06:39] So I just absentmindedly losing that way.
[00:06:42] And then I put everyone in the back row and just kind of beat it, like beat the dog shit out of it in the first try.
[00:06:47] So I'm a little embarrassed.
[00:06:48] I'm kind of a, not a very, I'm a tourist, as they say.
[00:06:52] Yeah.
[00:06:54] But I mean, this game is fucking amazing, man.
[00:06:58] And I need, I, Nick, I think is just past the beginning, like the part where he's going into this like fifth dungeon, where I'm at, where I just got done.
[00:07:09] And he's hitting a story beat that is like wild.
[00:07:14] And it's like, dude, like the story just keeps going higher and higher and higher for me, man.
[00:07:19] This is like this.
[00:07:20] Is it, is it a new generation?
[00:07:22] This is this generation's near automata.
[00:07:24] I think no way, dude, I can't be that good.
[00:07:28] It's, it's really good.
[00:07:29] I don't, I don't think it's as good as near automata, but it is, it evokes that constantly, especially the place I was in.
[00:07:37] Like that I just left.
[00:07:38] I was like, what's happening?
[00:07:40] Like, I don't, I don't, I like it's took, it's taken such a fucking left turn that I don't know.
[00:07:45] Is it getting like the humanist meta vibe that is the near series or is it just a good, good story flat?
[00:07:52] It's insanely meta.
[00:07:54] Like this isn't a spoiler.
[00:07:55] It's one of the first things you do in the game, but you put your name.
[00:07:58] It's like, it's like, please put your real name in there.
[00:08:01] And then they keep referencing you.
[00:08:03] Like they're like, they're like this paper hat.
[00:08:06] It's like written in this, in this language.
[00:08:07] I don't understand, but this part, I can't understand.
[00:08:10] It says knave.
[00:08:11] And I'm like, that's me.
[00:08:13] You know, except I put, I put knave with a K.
[00:08:16] And so it's like, no, no, it's like, it is a ye old word.
[00:08:19] So I don't even know.
[00:08:22] Like one of the characters calls people, may have like all the time and every time I want to screenshot it, but I'm like, God, I'm very.
[00:08:28] Like this might be spoilers for near the first one.
[00:08:31] Uh, but at the end, uh, you open up a book and I don't remember if you write it in there or if it's just in there, but it's like your gamer tag.
[00:08:40] Yes, dude.
[00:08:41] It's so fucking sick.
[00:08:43] It's so good.
[00:08:44] And it's like, that's weird.
[00:08:46] And then you see other people's gamer tags who have also made it to this point in the game.
[00:08:50] Yes.
[00:08:50] And I'm like, oh no.
[00:08:52] And then you start seeing them delete themselves like in front of you.
[00:08:57] And I'm like, God, it's so good.
[00:08:59] Or no, you see the, you see the memory of them being deleted.
[00:09:02] It's not even that they're deleting themselves, but they physically chose.
[00:09:06] And then it gives you the option to delete yourself so that you can appear in other people's games.
[00:09:11] And I'm like, oh, it's so good.
[00:09:14] Yeah, but I think it literally deletes your game, right?
[00:09:16] It, yeah, it removes your game from your hard drive or whatever.
[00:09:19] Uh, which, you know, that's big spoilers for the old near and it's not going to make any sense explaining like this because by the way, the game is about, uh, if you, if it's the American version saving your sick daughter who has basically like magic cancer.
[00:09:33] Uh, what year?
[00:09:35] The, the, the, whatever it's called.
[00:09:38] Revitalize or whatever.
[00:09:39] Replicate 4.2.9, whatever stupid number is.
[00:09:43] I played, dude, it's like a giant number.
[00:09:45] I played it a little bit.
[00:09:46] And then I was like, okay, I just played the original.
[00:09:50] I played near one on the three 60.
[00:09:52] I bought it backwards compatible.
[00:09:54] And then I played near automata and then I played replicate.
[00:09:57] And I was like, this was a bizarre order to play these games.
[00:10:00] And I played them in release order.
[00:10:02] And so now I'm like, I, I'm kind of neared out and I know what's happening.
[00:10:07] So it's like, I don't know how much it changes.
[00:10:09] I don't know if you've played that one, but that version.
[00:10:11] I don't know.
[00:10:11] I assume it can't vary too far, even though like near was weirdly advanced for its time as far as like, I don't know, social.
[00:10:20] Like it's a, it's almost a metal gear thing where it's like, you have a, like your robot friend and your possibly transgender friend.
[00:10:30] And yeah, like, I don't even know how to go into detail about the government controlling the people and the shadows with like Pavlo and Davlo or whatever their names were.
[00:10:43] I don't know how to go into detail.
[00:10:43] Well, let's not spoil the living dog shit.
[00:10:45] I think like, but yeah, so the, everyone needs to play near, please God.
[00:10:50] I don't even think I explained it correctly.
[00:10:52] Like, I don't think so.
[00:10:53] Cause now I'm like, I don't know what you're talking about, but we, I can't ask.
[00:10:56] I can't inquire because it doesn't matter.
[00:11:01] Yeah.
[00:11:01] Near one.
[00:11:01] Good.
[00:11:02] Uh, metaphor.
[00:11:04] Also good.
[00:11:06] It's nominated for game of the year.
[00:11:07] I saw that.
[00:11:08] And it is like still in the top, like three most sold game or selling game on steam.
[00:11:12] Right now.
[00:11:12] Like it is smashing it.
[00:11:14] I'm so happy.
[00:11:15] I'm so happy for Alice, man.
[00:11:17] They, they deserve this.
[00:11:18] This is just, it's just so, I don't know how they go back to persona, dude.
[00:11:24] I'm just like, I, there's no romance by the way, too.
[00:11:28] That that's, it has become obvious that there is no romance to me at this point.
[00:11:31] Cause I have like multiple people where I'm almost maxed out with their social gauge and it has just been straight up.
[00:11:37] I'm just helping them with their problems.
[00:11:38] And it's like, you know, it's kind of, kind of refreshing.
[00:11:41] You know what I mean?
[00:11:42] Like refreshing to the formula that I'm not fucking everyone.
[00:11:46] You know what I mean?
[00:11:48] But, um, it's, it's so good.
[00:11:51] And the characters are so good.
[00:11:53] Every character so far is just so compelling.
[00:11:55] The only one who's not compelling is like the fifth party member who is interesting, but not, it's not like selling it for me.
[00:12:04] Like I was like, okay, this person can be sidelined, whatever.
[00:12:06] They're going to be my, uh, who's a fucking character?
[00:12:11] Sid from Final Fantasy seven.
[00:12:13] Everyone's sidelined.
[00:12:14] Sid, nobody plays with Sid in the main party.
[00:12:17] Are you joking?
[00:12:17] Are you joking?
[00:12:18] No way.
[00:12:19] Not when you can have a dog, the cat, the dog, dog cat.
[00:12:25] Yeah.
[00:12:25] Dog cat.
[00:12:26] Gun arm.
[00:12:28] Big mega man.
[00:12:29] Yeah.
[00:12:29] This is a vampire.
[00:12:30] I think vampire.
[00:12:31] Yeah.
[00:12:32] Yeah.
[00:12:33] When I played Final Fantasy seven, like all the way through, I missed every optional character.
[00:12:38] Like I missed the vampire.
[00:12:40] Yeah.
[00:12:42] It's kind of, it's hard to miss you feed, but like, you have to go out of your way to get
[00:12:46] her.
[00:12:46] You know what I mean?
[00:12:47] Like you probably encountered her at least.
[00:12:49] Yeah.
[00:12:49] Like he, she like bumps into you in the, the, the desert, I think a couple of times.
[00:12:54] And it was like, hi, y'all.
[00:12:55] Ninja moves.
[00:12:56] I'm like, all right, Naruto.
[00:12:57] I'm on a mission.
[00:12:57] It steals your materia.
[00:12:59] Yeah.
[00:12:59] You just let her take it.
[00:13:00] You're just like, ah, whatever.
[00:13:02] I didn't even need one.
[00:13:03] I don't remember what she took, but it didn't matter.
[00:13:06] Oh, well, I don't know if it's random.
[00:13:08] Like what if she probably did more than I did?
[00:13:12] Yeah.
[00:13:13] I mean, she, that's the whole, that's the story arc.
[00:13:15] You wouldn't know, but that's the story arc.
[00:13:16] I assume she's from like a struggling ninja village because everyone is from some struggling
[00:13:22] village in Final Fantasy seven.
[00:13:26] I don't think there's anybody who's living it up except for maybe, uh, what do they call
[00:13:30] the saucer?
[00:13:32] The golden saucer.
[00:13:33] Even that place is a little creepy.
[00:13:35] Like, because there's the underlings under the golden saucer that like, I just want to
[00:13:40] get a ticket up into the golden saucer.
[00:13:43] It's like, imagine going to Disneyland and you just see the homeless camp.
[00:13:45] That's like right outside Disneyland.
[00:13:47] Every time you go on a roller coaster, it's not outside underneath.
[00:13:52] It's a bit.
[00:13:53] It looks like a fucking internment camp with a fence around it.
[00:13:58] They did that.
[00:13:58] Cause they also did it with, um, what's the name of the big town Valhalla?
[00:14:02] Uh, uh, Midgar.
[00:14:04] Midgar.
[00:14:05] That's it.
[00:14:05] Like Midgar has the slums underneath each disc or under the disc.
[00:14:11] It's pretty cool.
[00:14:11] It's pretty cool.
[00:14:12] But also socially because like when I was a kid, I was like, why don't we do this?
[00:14:17] This is so smart.
[00:14:18] I don't know.
[00:14:19] Like dude, we should just do this.
[00:14:21] These guys look like they're having fun.
[00:14:23] I think that guy doing squats in the fucking in the, in the gutter.
[00:14:31] Yeah.
[00:14:31] I definitely want to get the remake on seam deck.
[00:14:34] Yeah.
[00:14:34] And play that.
[00:14:35] Now that it's on remake two is on, on the, on the game of the year as well.
[00:14:38] Yeah.
[00:14:39] I saw that, which is kind of wild.
[00:14:41] It feels like also black myth, Wukong question mark and fucking Astro bot.
[00:14:46] I like looks, looks good, but I think it's just there to like give Sony some points or something.
[00:14:55] Yeah.
[00:14:55] Sony, Sony needed some points, I guess.
[00:14:57] Uh, you know, Jeff Keighley and all, uh, Blattro's on there too.
[00:15:00] And I didn't consider Blattro until I saw, like, I think it was Paris.
[00:15:04] What's his name?
[00:15:05] Paris.
[00:15:06] Something.
[00:15:07] The Xbox guy on Twitter.
[00:15:08] Um, he mentioned it and his, he's like, these are my predictions in Blattro.
[00:15:13] And I was like, Holy fuck.
[00:15:14] That's such a good thing.
[00:15:15] Like, like it makes, cause that game was a, was the wave for a minute.
[00:15:19] Also hell divers didn't get Astro bots on there, but not hell divers.
[00:15:23] That game was the literal fucking juice.
[00:15:26] Oh no.
[00:15:27] Hell divers is on the steam list.
[00:15:30] On the what?
[00:15:31] The steam steam of the year list or whatever.
[00:15:34] Like there's steam has their own game of the year awards.
[00:15:37] Oh yeah.
[00:15:38] But I mean, that doesn't matter, right?
[00:15:40] I don't know.
[00:15:40] Well they also, they have Blattro on there as well.
[00:15:43] And I was like, oh, that's interesting.
[00:15:45] You remember when they gave a star field most innovative game of the year?
[00:15:49] Yeah.
[00:15:50] Looking back on it, it is not that as it turned out.
[00:15:56] Now, you know what's the next most innovative game of the year can be dragon age, but not
[00:16:00] in a positive way.
[00:16:01] Dude.
[00:16:02] I was positive, dude.
[00:16:03] I was positive that the last of us remake thing was going to be on the game of the year.
[00:16:10] I was like, it's, I was expecting it because they were like, Hey, DLC and remakes are eligible
[00:16:15] for a, for thing.
[00:16:16] And just, and everyone was like, Oh, it's for our tree shadow of the earth tree.
[00:16:20] And I was like, yeah, probably.
[00:16:21] But also I'm watching you, Jeff Keighley.
[00:16:24] You son of a bitch.
[00:16:26] All right.
[00:16:26] What else do you have on your list?
[00:16:29] Oh, I'd fucking, I played a little bit of animal.
[00:16:32] Well, you donkey shill.
[00:16:34] Yeah.
[00:16:34] Donkey shill.
[00:16:35] That game is hard.
[00:16:37] Um, and it frustrated me and I got filtered.
[00:16:39] I don't, I probably will go back, but I fucking suck at platform.
[00:16:44] I'd suck at 2d platformers, dude.
[00:16:45] I'm just bad.
[00:16:46] I don't know.
[00:16:47] Celeste.
[00:16:49] Yeah.
[00:16:50] A little bit.
[00:16:50] I think I didn't get filtered by that.
[00:16:52] I just got bored.
[00:16:53] Okay.
[00:16:54] But I'll go, I'll go back to it eventually.
[00:16:56] Cause I played it for a while and I didn't ever like, I, I, I remember specifically, I
[00:17:00] was trying to get all the strawberries.
[00:17:02] That's the problem.
[00:17:03] You can't do that.
[00:17:04] Not.
[00:17:04] Yeah.
[00:17:04] And then I was like, this is annoying.
[00:17:06] This is so annoying.
[00:17:07] This is so annoying.
[00:17:07] And then I just stopped playing, but I don't think I knew it was optional, but I wanted
[00:17:11] it so bad.
[00:17:13] And so I was like, whatever.
[00:17:15] Yeah.
[00:17:16] Don't get the strawberries on your first playthrough in Celeste.
[00:17:18] Just enjoy the, enjoy the climb.
[00:17:21] Don't struggle over every pebble on your way.
[00:17:24] Cause it's like every screen has a strawberry or every other screen and they are a nightmare.
[00:17:30] Animal wells kind of like that a little bit where like, there's like, there's obvious shit
[00:17:34] going on and like, Oh, I could probably make that jump, but I'm, I'm getting every time
[00:17:39] you die, you go back to the last save area.
[00:17:41] And so, and then, so like there are switches in the game.
[00:17:45] I was bitching about this, but like there are switches in the game.
[00:17:49] And sometimes when you die, they stay switched.
[00:17:51] And sometimes when you die, they're not switched.
[00:17:53] And it's always the most inconvenient option.
[00:17:56] Like it's always the one that would be most frustrating.
[00:18:00] So that made me a little annoyed.
[00:18:03] I'm just, I'm just, I don't know why, but I can see the thing that frustrates me the most
[00:18:07] is I know what I need to do and my body just doesn't do it.
[00:18:12] And then I get mad at myself that I didn't jump in exact, the exact time or whatever.
[00:18:18] I do that thing too, where I do, I just cascade and into a death where I'll, as soon as I get hit
[00:18:24] once, I'm like, fuck, fuck, fuck.
[00:18:26] And I just start getting hit over and over again.
[00:18:28] By everything.
[00:18:28] Out of frustration.
[00:18:29] Yeah.
[00:18:30] Yeah.
[00:18:31] Doesn't matter.
[00:18:32] I mean, it's cool.
[00:18:33] The vibe is there.
[00:18:35] Like there's this like, I was gonna say underground area, but like, it's all underground, I think.
[00:18:40] But like, there's this bottom part where like, there's these like vines that are glowing.
[00:18:46] And when you jump into them, they, they flip around and stuff, dude, you get this yo-yo and it is so fun.
[00:18:51] Like you're, you go, you can throw it in whatever direction.
[00:18:54] You got to hit switches with it and it wraps around the geometry.
[00:18:58] So like you have to throw it in a way that it's really fucking fun.
[00:19:01] Actually, it's, it's like basically halo infinite grappling hook, you know, but you don't go anywhere.
[00:19:07] Just the yo-yo goes somewhere.
[00:19:09] Also, it glows.
[00:19:10] It's a glowing yo-yo.
[00:19:11] It's sick.
[00:19:12] And so when it's dark, you can just walk the dog and fucking stupid.
[00:19:18] Yeah.
[00:19:19] It's really dumb, but I mean, it's super, super charming.
[00:19:23] So I'm glad I bought it.
[00:19:24] I might play it a little bit more, but there's gotta be like a baby's first 2d platformer that I can like get good somehow.
[00:19:32] Right?
[00:19:32] Like I'm like, cause I, I was, I was considering playing hollow night or not hollow night.
[00:19:37] The other one shovel night.
[00:19:40] And I probably would, I probably wouldn't beat it.
[00:19:43] I don't like shovel night.
[00:19:44] Shovel night's not bad.
[00:19:46] Yeah.
[00:19:46] But is it not bad for you or would I be able to beat it?
[00:19:49] It's easier than cuphead.
[00:19:52] So I never beat cuphead.
[00:19:53] Cuphead was hard.
[00:19:55] Well, that's a bad comparison.
[00:19:57] What?
[00:19:58] How about hollow night?
[00:19:59] How is shovel night harder than hollow night?
[00:20:01] Hollow night was agony, dude.
[00:20:03] Okay.
[00:20:04] They're different because hollow night is a lot more like retro crunchy hard.
[00:20:10] Whereas like a hollow night was a lot more flexible with like the souls and everything.
[00:20:16] Where's like shovel night twice.
[00:20:18] Oh my bad.
[00:20:19] Shovel night is like crunchy hard, but they both have the feature where you have to run
[00:20:23] back and pick up your dead body.
[00:20:26] Great.
[00:20:26] There's more checkpoints in shovel night.
[00:20:31] Oh, really?
[00:20:32] Yeah.
[00:20:33] There's like three points a level recently.
[00:20:34] I tried to play a Castlevania game and got filtered like instantly, like just died really
[00:20:39] early.
[00:20:39] And then like, I, I just don't know what's wrong with me.
[00:20:43] I will play.
[00:20:45] I will play doom eternal on the hardest difficulty and like die a million times, but like thrive.
[00:20:50] You know what I mean?
[00:20:51] I don't know why my brain is built different like this.
[00:20:55] I just, I get so much angrier when I don't have a third dimension.
[00:20:59] I don't have a Z axis.
[00:21:00] You know what I mean?
[00:21:02] Yeah.
[00:21:02] I don't know.
[00:21:03] But I mean, you know, people should probably play animal.
[00:21:05] Well, it's cheap.
[00:21:07] Very cheap.
[00:21:08] Uh, for games I've been playing, uh, I've been playing on my little steam deck.
[00:21:14] Uh, I've been emulating the PSP and playing DJ max classique or class class a week or something
[00:21:21] like that.
[00:21:22] Yeah.
[00:21:22] Which is a Korean band.
[00:21:24] I don't really know their songs, but it's just more DJ max only portable.
[00:21:29] And I can't imagine playing this on a PSP.
[00:21:32] It'd be so small, but it is just like DJ max V.
[00:21:37] DJ respect or whatever.
[00:21:38] I mean, it must be easier with a touch screen, right?
[00:21:41] Oh no.
[00:21:41] That's the Vita.
[00:21:42] I could play with touch.
[00:21:43] I didn't even think about that.
[00:21:44] I could do onscreen controls, but no, I've just been using the, uh, the buttons on the
[00:21:50] sides.
[00:21:52] I might try to see if there's some touch screen stuff we can do.
[00:21:56] I don't know.
[00:21:57] That'd be really cool.
[00:21:57] Can you move the buttons around?
[00:21:58] You can.
[00:21:59] And you're like, and you can put the button on the.
[00:22:01] Yeah.
[00:22:02] You remember like how to activate your multiplier was like a or X or whatever.
[00:22:06] Like I put that on the trigger so that I can like just hit it with the trigger instead
[00:22:09] of moving my finger off of B.
[00:22:13] Yeah.
[00:22:13] I figured you were playing it like a keyboard.
[00:22:16] Like we were, cause we hooked our fucking keyboards up at one point.
[00:22:18] Yeah.
[00:22:19] There's parts of them.
[00:22:20] Like, how did they do this?
[00:22:21] Like, cause I'm not even in like the hard difficulties.
[00:22:24] I'm still in beginner baby poopoo mode and there's getting to songs where I'm like,
[00:22:30] there's no way they were pushing the buttons this fast on their dinky little PSP that they
[00:22:35] could score well in this.
[00:22:36] I don't know how they did it.
[00:22:38] Yeah.
[00:22:39] I don't know.
[00:22:39] They're fucking built different, man.
[00:22:41] This one wasn't released outside of Korea though.
[00:22:44] Or I think it was just Korea, Japan because it was specifically the classic version.
[00:22:51] So that's good.
[00:22:52] It's annoying though, because then I talked to the boys at work and they're like, oh,
[00:22:56] yeah, Sergeant Beatty, you've been gaming this weekend.
[00:22:58] What have you been playing?
[00:22:58] And I'm like, don't tell them.
[00:23:01] DJ.
[00:23:02] X.
[00:23:03] Yeah.
[00:23:04] All right.
[00:23:05] All right.
[00:23:05] What else can I have?
[00:23:06] I'm playing Octopath Traveler two.
[00:23:07] Okay.
[00:23:07] They don't know what that is.
[00:23:09] Also, I'm playing in a Japanese.
[00:23:10] So that's even weirder.
[00:23:11] Don't be weird.
[00:23:13] It's all I'm like, oh, you know, nothing much, but that's the other game I'm playing.
[00:23:18] Call of Duty.
[00:23:19] Oh yeah.
[00:23:19] And they're like, oh yeah.
[00:23:20] What camo you grind and you get the black matter.
[00:23:23] And I'm like, I, I, I, I have friends who were sending me pictures of like the, what they
[00:23:29] were going, like, they were like, I don't even understand.
[00:23:33] I don't get it.
[00:23:34] I don't understand what they're even showing me.
[00:23:36] Like, it's like, I know that I'm looking at camo, but I don't know what the significance
[00:23:40] is.
[00:23:40] I don't see.
[00:23:41] I don't know what the black matter.
[00:23:43] You got to max out all the saw rifles and at least gold.
[00:23:45] And then you can get the obsidian challenges or something where you need to get like 10
[00:23:49] headshots in one game for it to check off.
[00:23:52] It's always some insane bullshit like that.
[00:23:54] Check offs gun.
[00:23:56] Check.
[00:23:57] Call of duty skins.
[00:23:59] Yeah.
[00:23:59] Good gun.
[00:24:00] But Octopath Traveler to Nave.
[00:24:03] I finished my first Octo story.
[00:24:06] There's, you know, eight of them.
[00:24:07] I finished part partito.
[00:24:10] The, the trader, his story about bringing the world together.
[00:24:14] You know, he was actually really like hopeful and uplifting because he's like basically tackling
[00:24:20] capitalism in a good way.
[00:24:25] Dude.
[00:24:25] Where he's like, Hey, what if we trade goods to make everyone happier instead of just getting
[00:24:31] insanely rich?
[00:24:33] But don't, don't you get happier when you get insanely rich?
[00:24:37] It definitely made me happy because I got very rich.
[00:24:41] You like playing his story.
[00:24:43] It's the fucking Nick was telling me that he grinded the first dungeon until he had like
[00:24:47] 3 million money.
[00:24:49] And I'm like, I have not grinded a single moment in this game.
[00:24:53] Okay.
[00:24:54] I want to highlight that.
[00:24:55] Cause my save file has like 93 hours on it, but I logged my time in Japanese and I
[00:25:01] put my little log up there from my top play Japanese games.
[00:25:04] So you could see Octopath Traveler two.
[00:25:07] I only have 71 hours in.
[00:25:09] I don't log the time if I'm just grinding.
[00:25:12] So that means I have done at least 20 hours of grinding and Octopath Traveler two without
[00:25:18] making story progress.
[00:25:22] That I hate that dude.
[00:25:24] I hate that so much.
[00:25:25] I know it's like that's 20 hours of my life that I, I mean, I was probably just watching
[00:25:30] YouTube at the time while I was just repeatedly battling critters in the forest, but it's
[00:25:36] annoying, but the game is really good.
[00:25:37] I can't wait to finish the other stories.
[00:25:39] I thought it was far from the end because I've been doing everyone's story at like the
[00:25:44] same speed pretty much.
[00:25:46] So I'm like, let's do everybody's chapter one.
[00:25:48] Everybody's chapter two.
[00:25:49] Everybody's chapter three.
[00:25:50] Everybody's chapter four.
[00:25:51] And then I'm on like chapter five for everyone in the recommended levels 45.
[00:25:55] And that was the final mission for part partitos.
[00:25:58] So I'm like, oh, I finished partito story.
[00:26:00] That means I am on the last mission for everyone right now.
[00:26:04] The thing is, it took me like three hours to do that last mission for partito story.
[00:26:09] Not even grinding, just doing it.
[00:26:12] Was it like cut scenes and everything?
[00:26:14] There was a lot of cut scenes, a lot of reading and then like two boss battles.
[00:26:18] You fought a train as his boss battle, by the way.
[00:26:22] Fuck.
[00:26:23] Yeah.
[00:26:25] Real good.
[00:26:27] Next, I'm working on the healer.
[00:26:28] You fight a plague doctor that is a rogue healer that is burning poisonous weeds into the rain, causing purple rain that is like killing off villages.
[00:26:40] He's he's doing chemical warfare.
[00:26:43] Yeah.
[00:26:44] You got to fight him in the rain and you're like dying every turn.
[00:26:48] And I am not strong enough.
[00:26:50] So we have to grind because it's fucking brutal.
[00:26:53] I know.
[00:26:55] Games really good.
[00:26:58] The RPGs when they're difficult, it's so much.
[00:27:00] It's so frustrating.
[00:27:01] I think it's more frustrating than 2d platformers when they're difficult.
[00:27:06] Because like, is it because you know, you can turn the difficulty down just by leveling up once.
[00:27:11] It's difficult in metaphor because like you have to stand around waiting for enemies to respawn.
[00:27:17] Oh gross.
[00:27:18] Yeah, it's terrible.
[00:27:19] But like, I don't know in metaphor, you just instantly die like in one turn.
[00:27:24] I'm just like, I, you know, like, like he'll like the boss.
[00:27:29] I just fought like he'll debuff your defense like twice and then hit everyone four times in one turn.
[00:27:36] I'm just like, what was I supposed to do?
[00:27:38] Like, I can only heal.
[00:27:39] I can only revive so many people.
[00:27:41] I'm out of.
[00:27:42] Oh man.
[00:27:43] It's, it's hardcore, man.
[00:27:45] Well, what do you think is a good time for a RPG then?
[00:27:48] Because looking at my list, even in Japanese, I'd be Dragon Quest Treasures in 21 hours.
[00:27:54] Trials of Mana in 25 hours.
[00:27:56] And then Ni No Kuni 2 took me 35 hours.
[00:27:59] And now I'm at 71 hours.
[00:28:02] That's double Ni No Kuni 2 for Octopath Traveler.
[00:28:06] Like that's a long time.
[00:28:09] I think really it depends on the story content, but I don't know.
[00:28:14] It's like Dragon Quest 11 was way too long.
[00:28:16] Right?
[00:28:16] Like that was just for me.
[00:28:18] This I'm looking at my thing now and it says I've played 121 hours of metaphor, but that's not true.
[00:28:23] I definitely just left it on.
[00:28:25] So I think I'm closer to like 40 or 50 hours.
[00:28:28] You know what I mean?
[00:28:29] Like of like actually playing the game.
[00:28:32] And I don't know.
[00:28:33] What was that one game that I played?
[00:28:35] It must've been like last year.
[00:28:36] There was a JRPG I played and I beat it in like a really, really good amount of time.
[00:28:42] I'm like scrolling now.
[00:28:44] I'm never going to find it.
[00:28:45] I play way too many fucking games for like 10 seconds and then I'm done.
[00:28:49] Yeah.
[00:28:49] I'm never finding it.
[00:28:52] Yeah.
[00:28:52] Oh, well.
[00:28:53] There are good games out there.
[00:28:54] I spent two hours in Disgaea 6.
[00:28:59] Disgaea is on Xbox?
[00:28:59] Oh no, you're playing on Steam.
[00:29:01] I spent it on Switch.
[00:29:02] Oh, God damn.
[00:29:05] Disgaea is on Switch?
[00:29:06] Well, I mean, I guess that makes sense.
[00:29:08] Japanese.
[00:29:09] Yeah.
[00:29:09] Whatever.
[00:29:10] The Japanese, yeah, they don't go to Xbox.
[00:29:12] Yeah, they just skip Xbox.
[00:29:13] I don't know.
[00:29:14] I never liked Disgaea that much.
[00:29:18] It's weird because it's not like other RPGs.
[00:29:22] It's like tactics, but it's also just big number simulator.
[00:29:26] Dude, there's, it's like, that's why I thought I'd like it.
[00:29:29] Cause I'm like, people are going to hit for like 27 million damage.
[00:29:32] I'm like, fuck yeah, dude.
[00:29:34] It doesn't matter though.
[00:29:35] Because it really might as well just be 27.
[00:29:38] That's the thing between magic and Yu-Gi-Oh!
[00:29:40] Where people are like, you're doing 4,000 damage Yu-Gi-Oh!
[00:29:43] Like, it doesn't, it's like, it's like doing five damage in magic.
[00:29:46] It's like, it doesn't matter.
[00:29:47] Isn't it just easier to do math when you're doing five damage?
[00:29:50] Well, I'll never forget.
[00:29:53] Like, I don't remember when it was, but because I wasn't actually playing at the time.
[00:29:57] I don't know which update, but there was an update in World of Warcraft where the power scaling had gone so out of control.
[00:30:02] They just did a number crunch where they just, everything went from doing 2 million damage to like 2,000 damage.
[00:30:09] It holds on like, they just lowered all the numbers down.
[00:30:12] And I'm like, thank God.
[00:30:13] I don't even play WoW, but I think that's a good move.
[00:30:17] Yeah.
[00:30:18] Well, it's like when you're playing cookie clicker and it transforms from like something trillion to like 2.35 E, like E1 and E15.
[00:30:29] I'm like, oh shit.
[00:30:30] We're in the real zone.
[00:30:31] These numbers are, they're imaginary.
[00:30:32] We're galactic now.
[00:30:35] Um, what'd I talk about?
[00:30:37] That covers all the games I've been playing.
[00:30:41] There goes right into what did Nave buy section.
[00:30:43] Fuck.
[00:30:44] Nevermind.
[00:30:45] Um, what did Nave buy?
[00:30:47] Okay.
[00:30:47] So I, I've been drinking quite a bit lately.
[00:30:52] And so I, I like to buy games when I'm drinking.
[00:30:55] I don't know why.
[00:30:55] I think it's the satisfaction I feel instantly.
[00:30:58] And then I'm never going to play them, but I get to look at them and see them in my little
[00:31:02] library over there.
[00:31:03] So I bought hard reset, re redo.
[00:31:07] Yeah.
[00:31:08] Redux.
[00:31:09] Don't know what this is.
[00:31:10] Bioshock clone?
[00:31:11] Um, no, I think it's more like, I mean, I see I, from the screenshot I put in here that
[00:31:16] that's exactly what it looks like.
[00:31:18] But, uh, I think it's more like serious Sam or something.
[00:31:21] Oh yeah.
[00:31:23] It's just like a fucking cheap shoot first person shooter.
[00:31:26] Uh, but I mean, you know, might be fun.
[00:31:29] Might be fun.
[00:31:30] Maybe it's going to suck on the console.
[00:31:33] Yeah.
[00:31:33] I, I have a sneaking suspicion.
[00:31:35] I played this before, but I don't know.
[00:31:37] Uh, I also bought session.
[00:31:39] Look at that skateboardy guy.
[00:31:41] Yeah.
[00:31:41] Skateboard looks like skate knockoff.
[00:31:43] Uh, that is exactly what it is.
[00:31:45] What's really funny is that there were like two, uh, pretty large projects that were skate,
[00:31:52] uh, spiritual successors.
[00:31:53] And then EA, as soon as they're announced is like, we're bringing back skate also.
[00:31:58] And then, and so they must've been like curses.
[00:32:01] Like, yeah, it must've been fucking.
[00:32:03] All our development work.
[00:32:05] Yeah.
[00:32:06] So I didn't know this game wasn't snowboarding.
[00:32:09] Oh no.
[00:32:10] Well, there was that snowboarding game.
[00:32:12] Was it snow ride?
[00:32:14] John.
[00:32:15] We played, no, we played a game cause we were like considering it for the show.
[00:32:19] Didn't we?
[00:32:20] And it sucked.
[00:32:21] I mean, it was suck.
[00:32:23] It just wasn't good.
[00:32:24] I played it for 10 minutes and we were like, this is it, huh?
[00:32:27] Yeah.
[00:32:30] Uh, I don't know, but session session looks cool.
[00:32:33] I'm not good at skate.
[00:32:34] I don't know if I'm going to be good at this.
[00:32:36] Uh, but I dude, I don't know why.
[00:32:38] So I don't know.
[00:32:40] You don't use Facebook that much anymore.
[00:32:41] Do you, you know, they have like the videos.
[00:32:44] Yeah.
[00:32:45] Like, so it's just like Tik TOK or something, but it's Facebook.
[00:32:48] So it's less Chinese.
[00:32:49] Um, the, you get the, uh, like these like algorithm waves.
[00:32:55] Right.
[00:32:55] So I, I had this thing where it was just all car crashes and then it was dogs and it progressed
[00:33:02] to cats and then birds, which is where I'm at right now.
[00:33:06] But somewhere in the bird, I'm in the bird meta now, but like somewhere between dogs and
[00:33:11] cats was skateboarding videos.
[00:33:13] So I just was watching people skate and I'm like, damn, this is really making me miss Tony
[00:33:18] Hawk.
[00:33:19] And that's, I think that's why I bought this.
[00:33:21] Cause I went out of my way to find it.
[00:33:22] Also the black Friday sales going on.
[00:33:24] So it was probably like just $10, but you know, uh, speaking of buying random shit, this
[00:33:32] census midnight, census midnight.
[00:33:36] Uh, it just looks like a shitty, like silent.
[00:33:42] It looks like, it looks like, um, uh, fatal frame, but you know, a knockoff, like a bad knockoff.
[00:33:50] Uh, so I'm going to, I have another horror game to play through for spooky October next year.
[00:33:56] I didn't play any horror games this year because metaphor came out, which was so I'm not sure
[00:34:01] if you're still talking.
[00:34:01] I mean, and then I've got Siberia three, which is like a telltale game.
[00:34:09] I think like an adventure game and it was highly rated.
[00:34:14] So, I mean, it looks okay.
[00:34:16] I don't really, I've never played any of the other Siberia games.
[00:34:20] So I'm jumping right into three.
[00:34:21] I don't even know the exposition.
[00:34:22] I don't give a fuck.
[00:34:24] I'm just going to jump right into it.
[00:34:25] Uh, and then I also have this game called, I think Phillip's frozen.
[00:34:29] I just realized I'm not looking at the cameras.
[00:34:32] Phillip is definitely frozen right now.
[00:34:33] Shit.
[00:34:35] Uh, I heard you having a good time with skate videos and then I disconnected.
[00:34:39] Okay.
[00:34:39] That's fine.
[00:34:41] Uh, I talked about two, the other two games.
[00:34:42] Do you want to talk about census midnight?
[00:34:45] Uh, no, it looks like a Chinese horror, uh, maybe Korean game.
[00:34:51] Yeah, that's what it is.
[00:34:52] Uh, so any, what I left off on was no thing.
[00:34:55] Which this looks sick.
[00:34:57] It just looks like a cheap, you know, but like super meta indie game.
[00:35:03] I'm a pretty hyped for it.
[00:35:05] I kind of like these like crazy meta, you know, just once in a once, one time play through experiences.
[00:35:13] Do you want no thing?
[00:35:14] Yeah, no thing.
[00:35:16] Okay.
[00:35:17] Uh, once again, looking at these screenshots though, I couldn't let Siberia go by.
[00:35:21] I think I own all the Siberias somewhere.
[00:35:27] You do.
[00:35:28] I think I own them all like, um, steam or, uh, Xbox or maybe.
[00:35:33] Oh my God.
[00:35:34] I've given them away.
[00:35:35] That's crazy.
[00:35:36] Yeah.
[00:35:36] So I was saying when you were frozen that I've never heard of this before and I've never played one.
[00:35:41] And I just looked on my steam profile and I have one in two.
[00:35:44] So maybe I could play.
[00:35:47] I don't know if my computer would.
[00:35:49] Oh, wow.
[00:35:51] It's so old.
[00:35:52] Yeah.
[00:35:53] They're old.
[00:35:53] And your screenshot though is a theme park with, I assume Miss Siberia on the cover and then two dwarves.
[00:36:02] Jane Siberia.
[00:36:03] Or are they children?
[00:36:04] I think they're just fat children.
[00:36:06] Okay.
[00:36:07] I don't know.
[00:36:08] Or maybe, maybe they, the perspective.
[00:36:11] Yeah.
[00:36:11] The perspective might be a little off or they want in the background, you know?
[00:36:15] Okay.
[00:36:15] Maybe they're far away.
[00:36:17] Like that's like, I don't know.
[00:36:21] No, I'm pretty sure she's casting a shadow on that one in front of her.
[00:36:25] It's fucking stupid.
[00:36:27] Um, but yeah, I have no idea what these games are.
[00:36:29] They look good.
[00:36:30] I'm, I'm down for some, uh, like I have the little, like, I always do the little steam recommended games and I see screenshots of things like no thing in here.
[00:36:41] And I always add them to my wishlist.
[00:36:43] I don't know if I'm ever going to buy them, but I like looking at them.
[00:36:47] I think no thing is cheap.
[00:36:51] No thing is like $3.99.
[00:36:55] So, uh, listener, go check it out and go check.
[00:36:57] No thing is the most evocative of all of these games.
[00:36:59] What I think is really cool is I bought five games, all of them from dramatically different genres and settings.
[00:37:06] Like I got a real spread here, you know?
[00:37:10] Oh yeah.
[00:37:11] A real golden corral over here.
[00:37:14] Speaking of golden corral, let's thank our patrons.
[00:37:18] Okay.
[00:37:18] Here at Game Together, we work hard to provide excellent co-op content for you, the listener.
[00:37:22] If you have the means, please consider supporting us on Patreon.
[00:37:24] Link in the description.
[00:37:25] Here's our current patrons.
[00:37:27] Jose, BerserkerThis, Mr. Quang, Insane Cracker, and Nick at Night.
[00:37:31] Thanks for all your support.
[00:37:34] All right, Nave, let's take a break and then we can judge some assholes.
[00:37:42] And we're back.
[00:37:44] It's time for us to go online, find some assholes in need and let them know if they are in fact assholes or not.
[00:37:54] So, keeping in, I already got one.
[00:37:57] Number 22.
[00:38:00] I want to keep with the theme of not talking about me playing Octopath.
[00:38:04] Oh God, it's long.
[00:38:06] Not playing.
[00:38:07] Yeah.
[00:38:08] Not playing or talking about me playing Japanese games at work and Korean games.
[00:38:12] So, let's talk about, am I the asshole for hiding my boyfriend's anime body pillow while my parents were visiting?
[00:38:20] Holy shit.
[00:38:21] There's only one reply.
[00:38:23] This is a throwaway.
[00:38:24] Yeah.
[00:38:26] Definitely a throwaway.
[00:38:28] So, let's get into it.
[00:38:29] My boyfriend, male 32, and I, female 27, have been together for a year.
[00:38:33] He's only met my parents once over the holidays last year because they live pretty far away.
[00:38:39] They've been visiting this past week and since he and I had just moved in together, they were excited to see our new place and get to know my boyfriend a little bit more.
[00:38:47] We have an extra bedroom and this has become my boyfriend's gaming room for the most part, but we agreed when guests come over, it would be a second bedroom.
[00:38:56] He really likes video games and anime in particular.
[00:39:00] So, he has a lot of toys, artwork that he's collected over the years and different games and such.
[00:39:07] One thing he has is this anime body pillow that features a sexy anime girl on it.
[00:39:13] He also has a mouse pad for his gaming computer that resembles a busty anime girl.
[00:39:19] Man of culture.
[00:39:19] Before my parents come over, I asked him to take down his toys and stuff so they could be comfortable.
[00:39:25] I was upset to see that he left the body pillow and the mouse pad in place.
[00:39:32] Those aren't toys!
[00:39:33] She should have been more specific!
[00:39:34] Oh man.
[00:39:36] I don't really feel comfortable with either item, but he's really into anime, so I've always kind of left it alone.
[00:39:43] But I actually didn't think it was appropriate to leave it in there when my parents would be staying over.
[00:39:48] I took the cover off the body pillow and put the pillow in the closet, and I put the mouse pad in a drawer in our room.
[00:39:54] When my parents arrived and we showed them to the room, my boyfriend noticed the missing pillow and mouse pad.
[00:40:01] Oh, so it was intentional!
[00:40:03] Like, he wanted them to see those.
[00:40:04] Yeah.
[00:40:05] He was making a stand.
[00:40:07] And then now he has a scavenger hunt.
[00:40:09] To fucking find them.
[00:40:10] He's gotta find them.
[00:40:12] When we were in bed, he brought them to me and asked why I hit them.
[00:40:15] I told him, I didn't think my parents would feel comfortable with those things in the bedroom, and when they leave, we can put them back up.
[00:40:21] My boyfriend got really upset.
[00:40:24] He told me that it feels like I'm ashamed of his interest in anime.
[00:40:29] He said he spent his whole life feeling like people think he's weird from being into anime.
[00:40:36] And he didn't expect his own girlfriend to be just like everyone else, in quotes.
[00:40:43] Like, you're just like everyone else, Naive.
[00:40:45] That would be one of the most, I don't know, like, weird insults.
[00:40:50] That would get me.
[00:40:51] Yeah, if someone says, you're just like everyone else.
[00:40:54] I am.
[00:40:54] It doesn't matter what the situation is.
[00:40:56] I could just be, like, wiping my butt with toilet paper and they're like, you're just like everyone else.
[00:41:00] As they got a bidet.
[00:41:02] Yeah.
[00:41:03] I was gonna say, while they're wet wiping it, like a rich lord.
[00:41:08] What do you do with wet wipes?
[00:41:09] You can't even, like, flush those.
[00:41:10] You can't flush them.
[00:41:12] So you gotta carry a backpack around for your wet wipe?
[00:41:17] The next day, I noticed him taking some of his manga books off our bookshelf and putting them into a box.
[00:41:23] I asked him why and he said something like,
[00:41:26] I'm putting them away so you don't have to look at them anymore.
[00:41:30] Dude!
[00:41:31] This guy rules.
[00:41:32] This is such a cool guy.
[00:41:33] Does he?
[00:41:34] This guy good?
[00:41:35] I feel really bad.
[00:41:36] I feel like I hurt him.
[00:41:38] I just really didn't think my parents would be comfortable sleeping in a room with all those items.
[00:41:42] But now he's just acting so distant and cold.
[00:41:45] He's not really engaging with my parents at all.
[00:41:47] They just keep asking me what's wrong and I didn't know what to say.
[00:41:50] Am I the asshole?
[00:41:53] There's an update, but before we get into it.
[00:41:57] Uh, let's just, just midway.
[00:41:59] How are we feeling?
[00:42:00] How are we feeling this one?
[00:42:01] We warm on the boyfriend.
[00:42:02] Dude, I think.
[00:42:03] His girlfriend just like everyone else.
[00:42:05] You know what I think?
[00:42:06] I think she should show, like, have them all, like, when they're eating dinner, she should go and bring them out.
[00:42:10] And just be like, this is why he's upset because I put these away.
[00:42:16] Better get set another place at the table and just put the body pillow there.
[00:42:19] Yeah!
[00:42:20] This is, this is where Hatsune Miku eats every, every, every dinner.
[00:42:26] Every day.
[00:42:27] Oh, God.
[00:42:28] All right.
[00:42:28] So I'm feeling, uh, he should have just put the stuff up.
[00:42:33] Like, it's, it's not that hard to just put it up for a weekend, you know?
[00:42:38] It's incredible lack of self-awareness that some people don't like sexy anime girls.
[00:42:44] And you would be surprised.
[00:42:46] Like, some, some of these nerds just aren't fucking socialized, man.
[00:42:51] They just aren't.
[00:42:52] And it makes sense.
[00:42:52] You're like, oh, of course.
[00:42:53] Cause they're like, that's the, that's the stereotype.
[00:42:55] But when I go play magic, man, you'd be surprised how many people have like huge tittied, tiny bikini play mats with like these fucking card sleeves.
[00:43:06] And it's like, brother, when I see that shit, man, I'm like, dog.
[00:43:11] There's children present playing Pokemon right there.
[00:43:14] I mean, that's, that's true.
[00:43:16] But it's also just like, man, it's like the, you ever hear about this, this fucking mythical people, like groups of people that like watch porn together, like in, in like school.
[00:43:28] This is like a thing that I've heard.
[00:43:30] Like I've heard of this before.
[00:43:31] Like some people would just watch porn.
[00:43:33] I don't think this is a thing in the modern, modern times.
[00:43:36] Cause it's so much easier to access porn now.
[00:43:39] But like back when we were kids, I think that that was a thing, or maybe I just made something up, but like, it's, I don't understand this.
[00:43:46] I don't like, it's like, I just, I guess I've just always been kind of prudish about sex and shit.
[00:43:52] You know what I mean?
[00:43:54] Yeah.
[00:43:55] I think I've been about that too.
[00:43:57] I did like, so there's an air force Reddit page and people just post air force stuff or whatever on there.
[00:44:03] And here's one that popped up on the main page the other day.
[00:44:07] Take a look at that.
[00:44:09] Woo, dude.
[00:44:10] I've seen this shit.
[00:44:11] Like there, there are cars like this too.
[00:44:13] He linked a truck with a whole bunch of like anime titty stickers all, which by the way, this is, I get, I get these fucking ads for this shit all the time.
[00:44:22] Like I get these fucking ads all the time for these.
[00:44:25] And it's cause every time I see it, I linger.
[00:44:27] I like, I'm like, what am I looking at now?
[00:44:29] What's this?
[00:44:30] And so it's always giving me these fucking ads, but this is incredible.
[00:44:35] Like, I don't know how, I don't know how people do it.
[00:44:38] I have, I have a little Anya hanging in my, in my mirror.
[00:44:42] And even that is like, I don't, I don't really, it just kind of feels weird.
[00:44:48] But then again, I'm not the kind of person that slaps stickers on my fucking car, you know?
[00:44:52] Like kinda, kinda fucking makes me feel shitty.
[00:44:55] I don't know, it's weird because also, like there's a couple weird points with it.
[00:45:01] There is like, you know, the old, olden days of like the, you know, like the models with like motorcycles and stuff like that type art that was around, you know?
[00:45:11] Yeah.
[00:45:12] Like, uh.
[00:45:12] It was like, you drink Monster and Any drinks and then there's like bikini models.
[00:45:14] Dude, some of these fucking stickers are outrageous.
[00:45:18] I know, there's like a horse.
[00:45:19] Yeah.
[00:45:20] There's a horse.
[00:45:21] There's like someone zoomed in on, it's like, this is the bad one.
[00:45:24] Um, this is, this is fucking something else.
[00:45:28] How, how do you, how are you able to be on, on a military base with this?
[00:45:33] I don't, I guess.
[00:45:35] When you get in trouble?
[00:45:35] I, so that's the weird part is that we do have a set, you know, we have the UCMJ military code, like code of justice.
[00:45:46] Part of it is upholding like a proper professional standard as airmen.
[00:45:50] And you could totally bust this guy's chops with that probably.
[00:45:53] Like this is punishable by law to have anime stickers on your car.
[00:45:59] Punishable by law.
[00:46:00] That's fucking sick.
[00:46:01] You know, throw them in the gulag.
[00:46:04] It's, you know what else it's kind of like?
[00:46:05] It's like, when people have the tattoos of like naked women, like not even anime though.
[00:46:10] Like this is like a thing that people do.
[00:46:11] Like they'll have tattoos.
[00:46:12] That's what I was bringing up before.
[00:46:13] Oh, maybe that's why I'm thinking about it.
[00:46:15] Yeah.
[00:46:15] But you know, so I literally, I just heard, I was listening to Chris Reagan.
[00:46:19] I think he was, uh, maybe he was on a podcast or maybe he was just live streaming.
[00:46:23] I don't remember, but he was talking about this like phenomenon where he, when he was a kid, he always saw in like TV shows that like older boys and TV shows like Malcolm in the middle or something would have a poster of like a model, like a woman.
[00:46:38] Yeah.
[00:46:38] And he's like, Oh, I should have one of those.
[00:46:41] Cause like, apparently this is something boys have.
[00:46:43] And then he remembered putting one up and being like, this is weird.
[00:46:47] And like, I think I've never had a picture.
[00:46:50] I've never in my life had a fucking poster of a woman on my fucking, well, I mean, like I have posters with women on them, but like, not of like specifically the woman, you know what I mean?
[00:46:59] Like how an anime pillow, like a body pillow is specifically of the anime girl.
[00:47:04] Right?
[00:47:05] Like I've never had that.
[00:47:08] I don't know.
[00:47:09] My 17 year old daughter has a giant poster of Nicki Minaj.
[00:47:13] And I think it's so weird.
[00:47:17] Yeah.
[00:47:19] It's difficult, isn't it?
[00:47:21] Because it's like, I was like, why didn't I have posters of, but I did, I had like green day and stuff, but like, that's a band.
[00:47:29] There's many people like whenever you listen to rap, you're really only, it's just one person.
[00:47:33] Right?
[00:47:34] Like if you had a 50 sit poster, I don't know.
[00:47:36] Like Kendrick Lamar.
[00:47:37] I don't know why 57 was the first fucking thing I thought of.
[00:47:39] That's fucking insane.
[00:47:41] But yeah, Kendrick Lamar, you're just gonna have Kendrick up there.
[00:47:43] So it's like, I don't know.
[00:47:44] That's fine.
[00:47:46] I feel like it's better.
[00:47:48] I don't know.
[00:47:49] I had a bunch of movie posters cause I worked in the movie theater.
[00:47:54] Yeah.
[00:47:54] But none of them were just, you know, as inappropriate as this stuff.
[00:47:59] I've got Arbiter and Master Chief back there from the Halo 3.
[00:48:03] Classic.
[00:48:04] That square that I'm pointing at.
[00:48:05] Yeah, that's so tiny.
[00:48:06] Tiny square.
[00:48:08] You should frame it or something.
[00:48:11] Yeah, maybe.
[00:48:12] Alright.
[00:48:13] Let's read the edit and see if this changes our thoughts.
[00:48:16] Thank you for all the responses.
[00:48:18] And sorry it took me a few days to update.
[00:48:19] I was waiting for my parents to leave so I could talk to my boyfriend about all of this.
[00:48:24] Pause.
[00:48:25] The edit is as long as the post.
[00:48:28] Yeah, I did not expect this to be this long.
[00:48:30] I thought it was gonna be cut and dry.
[00:48:31] Large.
[00:48:31] Large.
[00:48:31] I read through the comments and it kind of validated something I was already feeling.
[00:48:36] Sexual decor aside, the way he acted the next day when he was putting the books away really
[00:48:40] bothered me.
[00:48:41] I ended up explaining the situation to my parents and they weren't exactly thrilled with his
[00:48:45] reaction either.
[00:48:46] Well, hold on.
[00:48:47] I got the feeling.
[00:48:48] It's a little manipulative, isn't it?
[00:48:51] What, for him to be like, let me just put all this away.
[00:48:53] But then again, this could be his path to growth or something.
[00:48:57] Maybe he's like, time to put childish things away and become a man.
[00:49:01] This is his moment of like being Gohan and his dad is dead but his dad's behind him doing the Kamehameha.
[00:49:07] Only it's his girlfriend hid his body pillow for a day.
[00:49:10] It's his body pillow behind him.
[00:49:13] Helping him.
[00:49:15] Only the ghost of the Kamehameha.
[00:49:18] The father-son Kamehameha.
[00:49:19] Yeah, that's what it comes from.
[00:49:21] The father-son Kamehameha.
[00:49:22] That kills Sel.
[00:49:24] So stupid.
[00:49:26] I'm my father's son.
[00:49:29] Great line.
[00:49:31] I ended up explaining my situation to the parents and they were thrilled.
[00:49:34] Alright, weird to go to the parents at this point though.
[00:49:37] I got the feeling after this trip, they don't really approve of him.
[00:49:40] Which is neither here than there.
[00:49:41] I'm 27, old enough to make my own choices.
[00:49:43] But I'll still go to my parents and tell them about my boyfriend.
[00:49:48] No, she didn't write that.
[00:49:49] Whatever.
[00:49:49] I just think that's really weird to be 27 years old and then complain to your parents about your weird boyfriend.
[00:49:55] I think it's just because they were the ones involved, right?
[00:50:00] Like they're the center of this whole thing.
[00:50:02] Like this only happened because they came over.
[00:50:04] It is their fault.
[00:50:06] But above everything else, my parents mean a lot to me.
[00:50:09] I never get to see them.
[00:50:10] And it was important to me that my boyfriend would be present and treat them like they were here.
[00:50:15] After they left, I drove them to the airport and boyfriend refused to come.
[00:50:18] I came back to the apartment and found a couple trash bags outside the door.
[00:50:22] Turns out once left, my boyfriend started throwing out all of his anime things in the bags.
[00:50:26] I asked him why.
[00:50:27] And he said something along the lines of, as before, that clearly his interests were welcome in my home.
[00:50:33] And he'd keep them in his car until he figured out what to do with them.
[00:50:36] I kind of snapped.
[00:50:38] I've been keeping together all week for my parents, but I had enough at this point.
[00:50:41] I told him I never asked him to get rid of his anime stuff and that it wasn't appropriate for my parents while they were staying with us.
[00:50:47] I told him his reaction is unfair and he's being manipulated.
[00:50:50] I told him that this week was supposed to be about him getting to know my parents.
[00:50:53] There's too fixated on this anime issue to even spend any real time with them.
[00:50:58] He then called me manipulated for making him believe that I was cool and his love for anime.
[00:51:04] I was cool with his love for anime for the past year when I was clearly ashamed of it.
[00:51:09] He also said he didn't want to be part of a family that doesn't appreciate anime?
[00:51:14] Question mark, question mark.
[00:51:18] Sorry to laugh there, but it's funny.
[00:51:20] We went back and forth for a while and then I told him we needed space.
[00:51:25] I wasn't even really planning that, but it came out and I felt like it was the right thing for me.
[00:51:29] Well, good thing because he created a lot of space when he got rid of his animation.
[00:51:34] There's a lot of extra room.
[00:51:34] Yeah, he cleared out a lot.
[00:51:35] No yogurt, it's clear.
[00:51:38] Well, he started crying a lot and apologized and immediately tried to take back what he'd said.
[00:51:43] But I was just done at that point.
[00:51:45] He left eventually and now I'm here in this apartment alone.
[00:51:49] Well, the mouse pad and body pillow are here too lol.
[00:51:53] He left those behind.
[00:51:55] Anyway, I don't really know if we're broken up officially or what seems to be heading that way.
[00:51:59] I'm just feeling awful and I almost wish this all happened before my parents visited.
[00:52:03] I feel like a tainted the whole trip.
[00:52:06] But yeah, thanks for the replies guys and thanks for opening my eyes a bit.
[00:52:11] Whew.
[00:52:12] Okay.
[00:52:13] Um, this guy's unhinged.
[00:52:16] Yeah.
[00:52:17] He's taking things way too far.
[00:52:18] This is the thing like some people are just fucking brick walls, man.
[00:52:23] And once they get an idea in their head, it's just impossible to pull them to reality and make them understand.
[00:52:31] Like once they interpret a thing in a specific way, you're, it's just, that's it.
[00:52:35] Nothing you can say or do will convince them otherwise.
[00:52:38] And it seems like the boyfriends, this is just one of those things.
[00:52:41] He has like a really, really, uh, he's really self-conscious about this anime thing.
[00:52:48] And this one slight was enough to put him over the edge, you know, like remind him of all those years of getting shoved into lockers because he has a Kagome on his fucking, on his Trapper Keeper.
[00:53:02] He's got like the biggest booby backpack.
[00:53:04] He's just weird.
[00:53:05] It's cool.
[00:53:05] Yeah, man, you gotta like these people, they have hug boxes, you know, like the people that come to the fucking game store with giant tittied mouse pad girl or whatever this is game mat play mat.
[00:53:19] It's like these people all kind of like flock together because like once they're outside in like normal society, it's really looked down upon.
[00:53:29] I mean, it is, it is looked down upon like not just anime, but like the, the, the fan service anime, you know what I mean?
[00:53:35] Yeah.
[00:53:36] It's difficult.
[00:53:37] I look down on it too.
[00:53:38] It's really difficult, man.
[00:53:40] It's an anime is that kind of thing where it's like sexuality is just like another part.
[00:53:46] It's just a facet of anime that like some people just have to tolerate if you don't, if you're not able to look over it.
[00:53:52] And it's hard to recommend some animated people because it's like, I know when, when I recommend space to Andy, I know you're going to love it because the animation is insane.
[00:54:00] But literally half of the show is about how he's obsessed with going to a hooter space hooters called boobies.
[00:54:08] He's like obsessed with it.
[00:54:09] So it's like, you just got to deal with that.
[00:54:12] I don't know how people are going to react when they see that.
[00:54:14] Like one of my favorite animes right now, it's a fucking amazing show called Dondodon.
[00:54:20] It's amazing, by the way.
[00:54:21] Everyone should go watch it.
[00:54:22] It's so adorable.
[00:54:23] It's, it's adorable, but it's, it's fucked up in a weird perverted way.
[00:54:28] But like the whole story is about how a ghost steals the main character.
[00:54:33] I think she specifically says, quote, let me gobble that weenie.
[00:54:37] That's what the ghost says.
[00:54:39] Yeah.
[00:54:39] She eats his dick off.
[00:54:40] You're upsetting me now because I went to a hot topic when I was in Canada and they were having a big sale.
[00:54:46] Cause of course they are.
[00:54:47] And I got like four t-shirts for like 15 bucks Canadian or something like that.
[00:54:51] And I got a Dondodon shirt and it looks really rad, but I had not seen the show or anything.
[00:54:57] And I'm like, this shirt is just cool.
[00:54:59] Cause there's like an alligator man on it.
[00:55:01] Look, what I need you to do is the first episode is going to be rough.
[00:55:08] It's going to be hard to get through.
[00:55:10] I don't want to hear that.
[00:55:11] But the second, no.
[00:55:12] Okay.
[00:55:12] So it's going to be insane.
[00:55:13] You're going to be loving it.
[00:55:14] And then at the end, you're going to be like, what the fuck?
[00:55:17] I hate this.
[00:55:17] This is awful, but you just got to get past it.
[00:55:20] You got to get past that first episode.
[00:55:22] And, and then every other episode is like balls to the walls.
[00:55:25] I mean, there's no balls cause he got his dick eight off, but you know, it's like, it's weird.
[00:55:30] It's, it's just, it's just really bizarre and off the wall and weird.
[00:55:33] That's the whole point of the show, but it's very charming, especially the dynamic between,
[00:55:39] cause it like, it's funny.
[00:55:41] Cause the main character is like an otaku, like this kind of character, but he's not an otaku
[00:55:45] about anime.
[00:55:45] He loves aliens.
[00:55:47] And then the girl that they fought, he falls in love with loves ghosts.
[00:55:51] And the whole story is that they challenged each other.
[00:55:55] One person went to this hotspot for aliens and the other one went to the hotspot for
[00:55:58] ghosts, like the opposite of what they did.
[00:56:00] And then that guy got his dick eight off by ghosts and then we got possessed.
[00:56:04] And then the girl got abducted by aliens.
[00:56:06] And you know what aliens do when they abduct you?
[00:56:08] That's the whole part of like, of like, that's the gut part you got to get over is that they're
[00:56:13] going to, they're going to try and probe her.
[00:56:14] And so it's like, but it's so good.
[00:56:17] I please watch Don to Don.
[00:56:19] Hmm.
[00:56:20] I don't know if I can handle it.
[00:56:23] I understand.
[00:56:24] That's, that's literally what I'm saying though, is that like, it's so hard to recommend
[00:56:27] animated people sometimes.
[00:56:29] Cause it's like, how do I, Don to Don has some of the most creative and amazing animation
[00:56:34] like moments.
[00:56:35] Like they, they're doing like this, these panel movements and stuff like these, these
[00:56:41] action scenes are so fluid and awesome, but it's all.
[00:56:44] And then the humor is so silly.
[00:56:46] Like every time the guy transforms, he immediately like becomes suicidal because it's just like
[00:56:51] his like endorphins just immediately like flip, flip over.
[00:56:55] And so he's just like, Oh, I don't, he's like, I'm going to protect you.
[00:56:59] And then he transforms.
[00:57:00] He's like, I don't think I can do it, man.
[00:57:03] And then I don't know, man.
[00:57:06] Well, I mean, that's the, that used to be the game of Thrones problem.
[00:57:08] Like back before it was big, big where it's like the, once you get over the incest in the
[00:57:13] first scene and the part where he tries to murder a child, uh, in, in the first episode,
[00:57:19] you know, it's good or whatever.
[00:57:21] Just trying that pitch is so hard.
[00:57:24] Now game of Thrones is, is huge, but yeah.
[00:57:27] That's how it was in the first episode.
[00:57:29] Did you ever watch the intro?
[00:57:32] Like the music that for Don to Don?
[00:57:35] No, like I haven't seen anything besides the art.
[00:57:38] And I was like, no, that art looks great.
[00:57:40] I want that on a t-shirt.
[00:57:42] Nah, brother.
[00:57:43] We got it.
[00:57:44] You got to listen to it real quick.
[00:57:45] It's only like a minute and a half long.
[00:57:56] I don't know if we can add this to the episode.
[00:57:58] I mean, yeah, sure.
[00:57:59] It's a fucking vibe.
[00:58:00] Not the whole thing.
[00:58:01] Obviously just like, isn't this a fucking vibe?
[00:58:04] Yeah, it is.
[00:58:06] The song is so good.
[00:58:08] This is one of the few shows where I just don't skip the intro.
[00:58:12] I always listen to it.
[00:58:15] Creepy nuts.
[00:58:16] Yeah, that's the guy who made the, the song.
[00:58:20] All right.
[00:58:21] That was a great intro.
[00:58:22] That's the, that was my first, that was my, uh, that was my first exposure to the show.
[00:58:27] And then I was like, oh, okay.
[00:58:27] I guess I'm watching it because the intro is so fucking good.
[00:58:30] I guess I'm going to watch that.
[00:58:32] Uh, all right.
[00:58:33] Well, hold on.
[00:58:33] Uh, number five is about manga.
[00:58:37] Oh, it's so long.
[00:58:38] Let's just, you know, the anime episode.
[00:58:40] Let's fucking do it.
[00:58:41] Oh, that person's not an asshole.
[00:58:43] Also.
[00:58:44] It's so quiet without the music playing.
[00:58:48] This account is suspended.
[00:58:50] Hell yeah.
[00:58:51] That's, uh, that's what we like to see.
[00:58:53] All right.
[00:58:54] Uh, this one's manga related, I guess.
[00:58:56] I haven't read it.
[00:58:59] Unclear.
[00:59:00] Uh, so, uh, am I the asshole?
[00:59:02] Oh, this is from dot underscore 1612.
[00:59:05] Am I the asshole for refusing to ask for a favor for my little sister?
[00:59:10] Now, right off the bat, favor with a U.
[00:59:15] So we're dealing with a Canadian, a British, a Briton.
[00:59:19] What do you think?
[00:59:21] Maybe they'll, you know, sometimes people type in like an accent, you know, like maybe they'll say in it or something.
[00:59:28] So then I'll give it away.
[00:59:29] Let's see if we can find something.
[00:59:30] All right.
[00:59:31] My 20 male sister, 15 female, I assume is a fan of a book series.
[00:59:37] There are, there's so many numbers right off the bat.
[00:59:40] Uh, there are to be 28 volumes in total, 26 of which have already been published.
[00:59:47] I recently bought her the 25th volume and promised to get her the 26th when I'm able to.
[00:59:53] Are you keeping track, listener?
[00:59:55] You writing it on 26?
[00:59:56] All right.
[00:59:56] It's about to be published.
[00:59:57] Uh, she was very happy.
[00:59:58] But then she found out that my girlfriend, 19's dad, works for the publishing company and asked me if I can also ask my girlfriend to ask her dad for early copies of the 27th and 28th volumes.
[01:00:18] Since there's a long period of time between each volume being released.
[01:00:21] Is that illegal?
[01:00:23] Can you do that?
[01:00:24] I will know they send out reader copies beforehand or review copies.
[01:00:28] Oh yeah, you're right.
[01:00:29] Before the actual release date from the publisher.
[01:00:31] I remember when I worked at GameStop, I used to play games early.
[01:00:34] Like they would, they, cause you know, obviously.
[01:00:37] Well, no, they would, they, but they, they want you to know, like, cause specifically it was Bioshock 2.
[01:00:45] That's always the game I remember.
[01:00:46] I did for like 50 games, but like Bioshock 2 is the one I remember.
[01:00:49] And, uh, cause they want you to know what the game is whenever they're selling it.
[01:00:55] Right?
[01:00:55] So I played Bioshock 2 like four, four or five days early.
[01:00:58] Anyway.
[01:00:59] Uh, I said no for two reasons.
[01:01:02] The main reason, uh, is that I don't want to put my girlfriend or her dad in a difficult slash uncomfortable position.
[01:01:09] I'm not an expert in the publishing industry, but I strongly suspect it's unethical and could get the man in trouble were he to agree to the request.
[01:01:17] This person writes well.
[01:01:20] Yeah, that's what I thought so too.
[01:01:21] Confusing, but well.
[01:01:22] Yeah, a little wordy.
[01:01:24] Verbose.
[01:01:25] Uh, in addition, I don't even know if he could procure early copies.
[01:01:31] Fucking $10 word.
[01:01:33] Is that a control?
[01:01:35] My girlfriend didn't give me specifics about her dad's position.
[01:01:38] He does make good money working for the company, judging by their house, but I still don't want to risk looking like an idiot for nothing.
[01:01:45] My mom said,
[01:01:46] Hey, do you see that?
[01:01:46] Hold on.
[01:01:47] Do you see that use of commas to separate that?
[01:01:50] Was that a.
[01:01:52] What's that phrase there?
[01:01:53] That judging by her house.
[01:01:55] Is that a.
[01:01:56] Prepositional phrase.
[01:01:57] Preposition.
[01:01:58] Prepositional phrase.
[01:01:59] Yeah.
[01:02:00] Is that what prepositional phrase?
[01:02:02] What is that?
[01:02:02] Hold on.
[01:02:04] It's like an adverb that ends it.
[01:02:07] Yeah, I think that is a prepositional phrase.
[01:02:09] I haven't fucking thought about this shit like fucking 15 years, dude.
[01:02:12] I'm saying this is some excellent English.
[01:02:15] We are doing well.
[01:02:17] My mom.
[01:02:19] Is that where I'm at?
[01:02:20] My mom said if I really care about my little sister, I should at least try first instead of just saying no.
[01:02:27] Your mom said that?
[01:02:28] That's not responsible.
[01:02:29] She said.
[01:02:31] She told me to tell my GF's dad that she'll pay extra money for early copies.
[01:02:37] I still said no.
[01:02:42] Can't spend money there.
[01:02:44] I think that's money.
[01:02:45] Change the answer.
[01:02:46] Sounds like a bribe.
[01:02:46] Yeah, I think that is.
[01:02:47] We are crossing into illegal territory.
[01:02:50] I still said no.
[01:02:51] And she just gave me a really disappointed look.
[01:02:54] Here's an update.
[01:02:55] But the mom engaging with this.
[01:02:59] Like encouraging her.
[01:03:00] Dude, this mom is down to do some crimes.
[01:03:03] Yeah, she's cutting corners.
[01:03:07] She's the type of person that flashes the security guards at a show so that they can get backstage.
[01:03:15] You know what I mean?
[01:03:16] Oh, yeah.
[01:03:16] This mom's been around the block, I think.
[01:03:18] I feel like this is also the mom that like she's the kind that would download like Kodi apps and stuff like that and put it on flash drives for kids TVs.
[01:03:29] Like, here you go, kids.
[01:03:30] Yeah.
[01:03:31] Watch anything.
[01:03:32] Yeah, Roku has a hacked Roku.
[01:03:35] Wasn't that what Roku was before?
[01:03:37] Was that like, I don't know.
[01:03:39] I've only ever seen Roku's hacked, I guess.
[01:03:43] And then suddenly they were everywhere and people just had Roku's like TVs.
[01:03:47] And I'm like, oh, shit.
[01:03:49] It's not just a pirate thing.
[01:03:51] Yeah.
[01:03:52] I don't know what I'm talking about.
[01:03:53] The update.
[01:03:53] I told my mom and sister that I love them.
[01:03:56] But what they are suggesting is theft.
[01:03:59] The man could get fired or maybe even sued for it.
[01:04:02] There's no way I'm going to ask someone to do that sort of thing.
[01:04:05] I think the use of the word theft got through to them.
[01:04:08] So they dropped the issue.
[01:04:10] Yeah.
[01:04:10] So he's like, I'm going to narc on you guys so hard if you go through with this.
[01:04:15] Dude, if they know this book is about to be published and this sister really wants to read it that early, she can find a copy online.
[01:04:25] Yeah.
[01:04:26] There's fan translations.
[01:04:28] If it's written, it's out there.
[01:04:30] Yeah.
[01:04:30] Oh, I mean, if it's manga.
[01:04:31] I mean, you're assuming it's manga.
[01:04:33] You know what's funny is that this person is so well written.
[01:04:36] This post is so well written that I almost think it's not manga.
[01:04:41] Just for that fact.
[01:04:42] The thing that throws it around is having 28 volumes of something.
[01:04:47] Oh, yeah.
[01:04:48] What would it be?
[01:04:49] What could it possibly be?
[01:04:50] Well, there's a couple people throwing out, not necessarily the exact series, but just suggestions.
[01:04:56] Apparently there's an in-depth book series that has 60 in it.
[01:05:03] There's the Warriors, which I think is the Warriors, the cat one.
[01:05:08] I was thinking like with the bottles clinking them together.
[01:05:15] All right.
[01:05:16] It's called Warrior Cats by Aaron Hunter.
[01:05:21] Different thing.
[01:05:23] Yeah.
[01:05:24] So it is about cats, I guess.
[01:05:26] Dude, have you fucking seen the GoPro cat?
[01:05:30] Yeah.
[01:05:31] It is like it encounters another cat.
[01:05:33] They fight for a moment and then become chill buds.
[01:05:36] Dude, the fucking cat.
[01:05:38] This cat is insane.
[01:05:40] Hold on.
[01:05:41] Wait, is this the one where it looks like it's running through like an Eastern block war zone?
[01:05:46] Yeah.
[01:05:47] It is like sprinting at top speed.
[01:05:50] It makes me like fucking shake.
[01:05:52] I'm like, got my adrenaline going.
[01:05:54] I'm so scared for this cat.
[01:05:58] Maxwell.
[01:06:00] Maxwell the cat.
[01:06:02] Maxwell.
[01:06:03] The fighting cat.
[01:06:06] Holy shit.
[01:06:10] Okay.
[01:06:11] Apparently even advanced readers copies for review are only given out a week or two in advance
[01:06:16] from some from two dogs life.
[01:06:20] Who is a top 1% commenter.
[01:06:23] And apparently they also receive advanced readers copies for reviews, but usually only within a day
[01:06:30] or two.
[01:06:31] I mean, those are probably digital releases.
[01:06:37] Yeah, this is wild.
[01:06:38] The whole thing is like, I don't know where I got the saying from, but I fucking I love using it in situations like this.
[01:06:45] Don't put me in a situation.
[01:06:47] And this is a situation, right?
[01:06:49] Like if I am working and you take your you try to take advantage of my position, like risking my neck for some stupid shit.
[01:07:00] That's putting me in a position, right?
[01:07:03] Like speaking of, you know, your dad did that to me.
[01:07:05] Your dad put me in a position.
[01:07:07] What do you do?
[01:07:09] When I was working in the movie theater.
[01:07:12] Oh, I don't know why I was thinking of you.
[01:07:14] You working at the prison.
[01:07:17] Hey, let me in there.
[01:07:18] I'm like, no.
[01:07:20] Dude, I got, you know, propositioned by the, the, the incarcerated all the time.
[01:07:25] Dude, I bet.
[01:07:26] He's like, hey man, I give you so much money.
[01:07:28] I'm like, let me see the money first.
[01:07:29] Yeah.
[01:07:30] Where's the money?
[01:07:31] Put the money in my hand.
[01:07:32] Never had the money.
[01:07:34] It's so fucking funny.
[01:07:36] But anyways, your dad's like, hey, I got a decent video camera.
[01:07:40] You think you can get in there, get some early, you know, a couple early screens in and record some movies for me.
[01:07:48] And I'm like, what the fuck is this guy talking about?
[01:07:51] Because there's web rips of everything available before day one in, you know, Russian.
[01:08:00] I think that's how I watched Kung Fu Hustle the first time was it was like a fucking Korean translation into English on a fucking ripped, ripped DVD.
[01:08:10] If you want low quality videos, you can find them.
[01:08:14] It's so fucking funny.
[01:08:16] That's such a crack.
[01:08:17] Oh, Nave's dad.
[01:08:21] Anyway, you are not an asshole for refusing to do this.
[01:08:24] In fact, you are a good person.
[01:08:26] You are a normally socialized person.
[01:08:30] All right.
[01:08:30] That covers those assholes.
[01:08:32] Let's take a break and then we can come back and hit the meat.
[01:08:35] Music plays.
[01:08:35] Boom, boom, boom, boom.
[01:08:41] What's the time like?
[01:08:42] I can't tell.
[01:08:43] I don't want to do math.
[01:08:46] You've been frozen for me.
[01:08:47] So now I don't know.
[01:08:48] You got to talk constantly.
[01:08:50] Okay.
[01:08:50] This is me talking constantly.
[01:08:52] It's weird because I'm frozen in my own camera.
[01:08:54] So I'm wondering if it's my camera that's fucked up now, not the Internet.
[01:08:59] As long as you're talking.
[01:09:01] That's fine.
[01:09:02] Yeah.
[01:09:02] I will type in chat if there's any freezing.
[01:09:05] Okay.
[01:09:06] And we're back.
[01:09:08] We love Katamari.
[01:09:09] Reroll plus Royale reverie.
[01:09:12] You know, I'm not always the greatest speaker.
[01:09:15] And that last word, reverie.
[01:09:18] It's not even like I have it.
[01:09:20] I don't think I have that bad of a Oklahoman accent.
[01:09:23] But some words are just harder than others.
[01:09:26] Reverie?
[01:09:27] There's a lot of like.
[01:09:29] There's like a gravity to that word, you know, in the middle of it, like right in the middle.
[01:09:34] Suddenly.
[01:09:35] Yeah.
[01:09:35] It's hard to do the.
[01:09:37] Like sounds because you're doing like.
[01:09:40] Ver.
[01:09:41] But you're going from reverie.
[01:09:45] Like it's like down up down as far as like pitch accent.
[01:09:48] Almost.
[01:09:48] You're doing like the fucking Ocarina of Time.
[01:09:50] I'm fucking kidding.
[01:09:51] Woo.
[01:09:53] Woo.
[01:09:53] Right.
[01:09:54] You know, in Japanese, that's like a thing people study is pitch accent.
[01:09:58] Because in English we have enunciation for our words.
[01:10:02] Whereas that's apparently not a thing in Japanese.
[01:10:05] And so they have like high and low pitch.
[01:10:08] Of where they say a word, like a word will start high and end low.
[01:10:13] And I have not studied any of that.
[01:10:15] Any of that trash.
[01:10:16] But it's so funny how it's like.
[01:10:18] It'll be like the same word.
[01:10:19] But slightly different.
[01:10:21] Like one of the ones that always give me is.
[01:10:23] The word for like scary.
[01:10:24] Which is like kawaii.
[01:10:26] But then the word for cute is kawaii.
[01:10:29] I've noticed that.
[01:10:30] And I'm like, I can't do this.
[01:10:32] Like either this girl is real scary or real cute.
[01:10:36] I can't tell.
[01:10:38] It's like the context maybe?
[01:10:40] Is that what it is?
[01:10:41] Yeah, well the kanji.
[01:10:42] The kanji are completely different.
[01:10:44] But when I'm watching the show and just listening.
[01:10:47] I'm like, you just got to context it.
[01:10:49] There's a part in Fryerun where.
[01:10:52] Like there's a couple of parts.
[01:10:53] But like they keep.
[01:10:54] There's a girl named Fern.
[01:10:56] One of the main characters.
[01:10:57] She's right here.
[01:10:58] Yeah, the purple haired one, right?
[01:11:00] Yeah, I got a little statue of her.
[01:11:02] I won at up down or whatever.
[01:11:05] The what was I saying?
[01:11:06] Oh, so the characters will call her scary all the time.
[01:11:09] And they just say kawaii.
[01:11:10] And I'm like, I'm confused.
[01:11:12] Like this is the first time I've noticed.
[01:11:15] Like explicitly that they were using that word specifically to say scary.
[01:11:21] Yeah.
[01:11:22] But anyways, back to this game.
[01:11:24] It is the second title in the Katamari Damacy series.
[01:11:28] Has returned in a remastered powered up version.
[01:11:32] This new re-roll comes with improved graphics and gameplay enhancements.
[01:11:36] In Royal Reverie, roll up Katamari as the king of all cosmos in his boyhood.
[01:11:43] Overwhelmingly positive and very positive.
[01:11:47] For recent and all time.
[01:11:51] The meta score is a high 81.
[01:11:55] Very high.
[01:11:56] And user score 7.4.
[01:11:59] A high average, you know.
[01:12:01] But that's only 18 ratings.
[01:12:04] Bothered to give this game a rating.
[01:12:06] That's a very low amount.
[01:12:07] For user ratings.
[01:12:09] Which is wild.
[01:12:09] Whereas the Steam one is 1,471.
[01:12:17] I'm sorry.
[01:12:18] We don't have.
[01:12:18] I didn't.
[01:12:19] So I was pretty late to the podcast.
[01:12:21] And so I didn't get the Steam grabs.
[01:12:23] I forgot about them.
[01:12:23] So now I'm doing that right now.
[01:12:25] I was hoping.
[01:12:26] I was hoping you would just keep talking.
[01:12:28] Yeah.
[01:12:30] I was hoping you would just keep talking.
[01:12:31] This one that Nave threw up is the ultimate review for any Katamari game.
[01:12:37] This is from Beetle 3 with 40 hours on record with a recommend.
[01:12:42] He is quoting another review from at your hall who said it best.
[01:12:48] He says Twitter user at your hall said it best.
[01:12:51] Boots up Katamari.
[01:12:53] King of the universe.
[01:12:54] Ah, my stupid ass son.
[01:12:57] Get your gay ass on earth and roll up shit for 20 minutes.
[01:13:01] Okay, I hate you.
[01:13:02] And the best song ever produced for a video game starts to play.
[01:13:05] Bah, bah, bah, bah, bah, bah.
[01:13:10] Fuck yeah.
[01:13:11] I'm pretty sure I've seen that before.
[01:13:13] Like I've seen that.
[01:13:14] Yeah, I have too.
[01:13:15] Like as weird as it is, like that is a that is the epitome.
[01:13:19] Like if we just cut the Katar review right here, like that is literally the game.
[01:13:25] Which you might need to edit in some of the songs.
[01:14:31] The acapella one.
[01:14:32] This is the acapella one.
[01:14:36] I don't know what the.
[01:14:38] All the games have their soundtracks on Apple Music, which is not always a thing.
[01:14:47] Usually sometimes I have to go to what's the green one?
[01:14:51] Spotify.
[01:14:52] Yeah, I have to go to the green app to listen to video game music sometimes because Apple
[01:14:56] for some reason doesn't have the rights to everything.
[01:14:59] But they have all the Katamars.
[01:15:01] Apple for some reason doesn't have the rights to everything.
[01:15:04] It's such an Orwellian sentence.
[01:15:08] Well, okay.
[01:15:09] It's weird to be like, oh, it's just not on Netflix.
[01:15:11] And you're like, fine, it's not on Netflix.
[01:15:13] Maybe it's on Hulu.
[01:15:14] Maybe it's on Disney Plus or whatever.
[01:15:16] But if you're like, oh, like 50 Cent just isn't on Apple.
[01:15:21] I'd be like, what are you saying to me right now?
[01:15:23] Like, why is that a thing?
[01:15:27] I want to get rich or die trying.
[01:15:29] All right.
[01:15:30] You want the next one?
[01:15:32] Mustella.
[01:15:35] Mustella Boulicus.
[01:15:38] I had to pause for that name.
[01:15:41] Recommends this for 12 hours and says, Mr. Newell, please remove all other games from Steam.
[01:15:47] Now, I don't know if this is a copy pasta because I saw the same review like 15 times.
[01:15:51] So, but, um.
[01:15:54] Stupid.
[01:15:56] Next up from Crump.
[01:15:58] With 28 reviews.
[01:15:59] I think this kind of game, it attracts a specific kind of person.
[01:16:06] Yeah, it does.
[01:16:07] Recommend.
[01:16:08] Good game if you want to be rolling stuff.
[01:16:10] Lots of rolling gameplay.
[01:16:12] It's basically centered around the rolling limp biscuit.
[01:16:19] Yeah.
[01:16:20] They made that roll and roll and roll.
[01:16:23] I think that's what he's doing.
[01:16:24] That's what he's saying.
[01:16:26] It's not just like any review is funny or you just write limp biscuit at the end of it.
[01:16:29] Like Strangers of Paradise.
[01:16:31] Just write limp biscuit in your review.
[01:16:33] Dude, I love how, I don't know where it originated where everyone was like, Limp Biscuit is that song that he plays.
[01:16:39] Which it isn't, but I didn't know that.
[01:16:41] I believed it too.
[01:16:42] And then someone was like, that's not Limp Biscuit.
[01:16:44] And I was like, holy shit.
[01:16:46] It's like I got a Bernstein beard, but I don't care.
[01:16:50] It's just like.
[01:16:52] All right, next up.
[01:16:53] All right, I'll stop adding them.
[01:16:56] Oh, God.
[01:17:03] I have a guy to say freaky unironically.
[01:17:06] And freaky is in like very fancy font.
[01:17:09] I don't even know how they did that.
[01:17:10] I don't understand what this is saying.
[01:17:12] I don't either, but I like it.
[01:17:13] I think he's right.
[01:17:15] Whatever he's trying to say, he's got spirit.
[01:17:17] He's got it.
[01:17:18] His heart's in the right place.
[01:17:20] Next one from Nip Rock.
[01:17:22] Recommend again.
[01:17:23] Wrote.
[01:17:24] Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah.
[01:17:26] Katamari Damacy.
[01:17:28] Katamari Damacy.
[01:17:31] Or one of the theme songs.
[01:17:32] There's like three different theme songs.
[01:17:36] So time played.
[01:17:37] I didn't get my time played, but it is like over 20 hours at this point.
[01:17:42] I was going back for every achievement.
[01:17:44] I did not get them all because some of them take so long to get.
[01:17:49] Because like the final level is like 25 minutes long and you have to beat it four times to get all the cousins in the final level.
[01:17:59] And like that is so long.
[01:18:01] You have 18 hours.
[01:18:03] 18?
[01:18:04] Okay, good.
[01:18:05] So not 20.
[01:18:06] That's what Xbox says.
[01:18:06] I mean, that's probably correct.
[01:18:09] So, Nave, you have eight hours in this game?
[01:18:13] Yeah.
[01:18:14] Did you buy this game or did you just play it on Game Pass?
[01:18:17] I bought it.
[01:18:18] I don't know if it was on Game Pass right away.
[01:18:20] Oh, no.
[01:18:21] It just released recently, didn't it?
[01:18:23] Because it was in Tokyo Game Show.
[01:18:24] I remember now.
[01:18:25] So, yeah.
[01:18:25] I bought it just so.
[01:18:26] I fucking love these games, man.
[01:18:28] I'm slapping that money down the moment I see them.
[01:18:30] You have to support the little guy.
[01:18:32] Bandai Namco.
[01:18:33] Yeah.
[01:18:34] Well, it says the developer's Monkey Craft.
[01:18:37] So.
[01:18:37] Yeah.
[01:18:38] I don't know who that is.
[01:18:39] But it was published by Bandai Namco.
[01:18:41] Which, did you see Bandai doing, um, uh, or Ark?
[01:18:45] Ark, Bandai and was at Ark Studios.
[01:18:48] They did a Grand Blue fighting game in the vein of Dragon Ball Z Fighters.
[01:18:55] I don't know what Grand Blue is, but.
[01:18:58] I think that's the original.
[01:19:00] Was it the original Fire Emblem or something?
[01:19:04] I think the Grand Blue games are what they did before Fighters.
[01:19:08] Is it not?
[01:19:09] Is it?
[01:19:09] Okay.
[01:19:10] Because I'm like, this is just Fighters.
[01:19:11] But with, like, swords and stuff.
[01:19:13] Yeah.
[01:19:13] Or BlazBlue.
[01:19:15] BlazBlue.
[01:19:15] BlazBlue is what they did.
[01:19:16] I knew what BlazBlue was.
[01:19:17] But this is Grand Blue.
[01:19:20] Oh, yeah.
[01:19:20] This is different.
[01:19:21] I don't know.
[01:19:22] I might be messing up the name.
[01:19:23] No, you're looking.
[01:19:24] I'm looking at it.
[01:19:25] Grand Blue Fantasy Versus.
[01:19:28] No, I didn't see this.
[01:19:30] It looks really cool.
[01:19:33] It really does look really cool.
[01:19:36] And it's weird because it's like, oh, am I really going to play a game based on an anime
[01:19:39] slash game series slash Vocaloid?
[01:19:42] I don't know what this game is.
[01:19:43] It's like that I've never heard of.
[01:19:45] I think that's the thing is that these games haven't all released in America or something
[01:19:50] like that.
[01:19:51] Or maybe I'm thinking of another JRPG series.
[01:19:55] Like the, what is it?
[01:19:58] Fuck.
[01:19:59] There's one.
[01:19:59] There's a huge JRPG series that I can't remember what the fuck it's called.
[01:20:03] And I want to say it's Tales.
[01:20:05] It's like Tales.
[01:20:06] Trials.
[01:20:07] Trials of Cold Steel.
[01:20:08] Trials of Cold Steel.
[01:20:09] Yeah.
[01:20:09] Those games.
[01:20:10] I don't think those are all in English or something.
[01:20:12] I don't know what I'm talking about.
[01:20:13] I think they started releasing, but they started doing it like four or something like that.
[01:20:18] So it's like the first three.
[01:20:19] You just can't play them in English.
[01:20:23] Oh, well.
[01:20:24] Well, that's good for you.
[01:20:26] Yeah.
[01:20:26] I'm working on it.
[01:20:27] Those are on my list.
[01:20:28] Actually, all the Trails games.
[01:20:31] Separate from the Tales and the Trials of Mana.
[01:20:35] Oh, God.
[01:20:35] Yeah.
[01:20:37] All right.
[01:20:37] But this is a remake of a PS2 game.
[01:20:41] And I have fond memories of this game.
[01:20:44] I did not buy it.
[01:20:45] I bought it on, or I played it on Game Pass.
[01:20:48] But I remember specifically, like, my parents would just leave me for the weekend at my grandma's house in Antlers, Oklahoma, dear capital of the world.
[01:20:56] And so I would bring my PlayStation 2 up there, and I would rent a game from GameStop, not GameStop, Blockbuster, before I go up there.
[01:21:04] And I probably rented the Katamari Demasi series at least three different times for a whole weekend just to play them again.
[01:21:12] And my grandma was probably like, these damn kids in their video games.
[01:21:16] And she's watching me roll shit up.
[01:21:19] She probably liked it.
[01:21:21] Like, this is probably an easy game to watch.
[01:21:24] I don't know.
[01:21:25] Is it because while I was playing this game, my 12-year-old daughter came in and was like, oh, are you winning, Dad?
[01:21:31] Or whatever, you know, the meme.
[01:21:32] And then looked over, and I'm like, yeah, I'm playing Katamari.
[01:21:36] This is a game from my childhood.
[01:21:37] I love this stuff.
[01:21:38] And then she's like, it looks kind of boring.
[01:21:41] And I'm like, oh, God, no.
[01:21:45] I gotta admit, though, I was playing the Paper Crane level, which is like a challenge level and not that fun.
[01:21:51] Oh, yeah.
[01:21:52] Is that one of those ones where you have to not pick up other things?
[01:21:56] You have to pick up only the one thing?
[01:21:57] Well, only cranes count as giving you points.
[01:22:01] So you can pick up other things.
[01:22:03] They just don't give you anything.
[01:22:04] Oh, but then you get bigger.
[01:22:06] So it's like...
[01:22:07] You get bigger so that you can pick up more stuff anyways.
[01:22:11] But it's funny because I don't think me and you ever played these games really growing up together.
[01:22:16] So we were almost like separately playing these.
[01:22:19] I never played...
[01:22:21] No, you introduced Katamari to me.
[01:22:24] Oh, did I?
[01:22:25] Yeah, because there was a 360 one.
[01:22:28] And I specifically remember...
[01:22:31] It's beautiful Katamari.
[01:22:33] That's the 360 one that we played.
[01:22:34] And I specifically remember watching it and being like, this just looks fucking terrible.
[01:22:42] This looks really awful.
[01:22:44] It looks so bad.
[01:22:45] Yeah.
[01:22:46] But like multiple times you've shown me games where I'm like immediately bouncing off of it.
[01:22:51] And then like afterwards...
[01:22:52] Like the listener knowing Modern Knave, hearing that I was really just like a Call of Duty bro basically.
[01:22:59] I was like, this doesn't look realistic.
[01:23:01] So it's kind of lame.
[01:23:02] Or anime.
[01:23:03] I had a soft spot for anime too.
[01:23:04] So if it wasn't anime or realistic, I didn't give a shit.
[01:23:08] And so...
[01:23:10] This is one of those games where you have to put your hands on the controller.
[01:23:14] Like and then like just do it for a little while.
[01:23:16] And then you're like, oh, okay.
[01:23:18] Like it's really, really...
[01:23:20] It's almost like playing like an idle game.
[01:23:24] You know?
[01:23:24] When you watch someone play an idle game, it's terrible.
[01:23:26] And then like once you start playing it, you're like, oh, I understand why this could get addicting.
[01:23:32] Well, we didn't ever explain what the game is either too.
[01:23:35] Listeners might be aware of Donut County.
[01:23:38] Which is a popular game that's come out recently.
[01:23:41] Which is you have a hole that you roll around and things fall in the hole and make the hole bigger.
[01:23:47] So you can pick up bigger things.
[01:23:48] That's the premise except you're in a 3D environment with verticality rolling a ball.
[01:23:54] And anything smaller than you sticks to you.
[01:23:56] And you keep doing that as you get bigger and bigger and bigger until eventually you win the level.
[01:24:01] And that's 99% of the levels are like that.
[01:24:04] There are weird exceptions.
[01:24:06] But the cool thing about this game is that because when you describe it like that, it's like, okay, you're like a snowball, right?
[01:24:12] And you're like, well, yeah.
[01:24:13] Yeah, snowball.
[01:24:13] So you're picking up like pins and pennies and stuff.
[01:24:18] And then eventually you're picking up continents and deities and clouds.
[01:24:24] The god of thunder.
[01:24:25] Yeah.
[01:24:26] And he's like a giant man with like lightning drums.
[01:24:29] And the whole time you just hear da da da da da da da da da da.
[01:24:34] Playing in the background.
[01:24:36] And it's like, it puts you in a fucking trance, man.
[01:24:39] Before each level, you can pick the song that plays to you for the whole level, which is fine.
[01:24:45] Except for the end levels, which are over 20 minutes long.
[01:24:49] And you're listening to the same three minute song on a loop.
[01:24:53] And that is not great.
[01:24:58] I don't know about you, but it sounds great to me.
[01:25:01] I didn't.
[01:25:01] Oh, my God.
[01:25:02] So there is like the whole time that you have like the end level that's there.
[01:25:05] That's like collect the stars and planets and then take eat the whatever's in the middle.
[01:25:09] I didn't know that was the end level.
[01:25:12] And so.
[01:25:12] Oh, the sun?
[01:25:13] Yeah.
[01:25:13] I kind of just was.
[01:25:14] I played this game over the course of like four or five months.
[01:25:18] Just like every now and then I get the itch.
[01:25:20] And I'm like, oh, I'll play some Katamari.
[01:25:22] And then play a couple levels.
[01:25:23] And so, yeah, I just randomly beat.
[01:25:25] I picked it up and beat that level first thing.
[01:25:27] And then it was like giving me credits.
[01:25:29] I'm like, oh, shit.
[01:25:31] I won.
[01:25:32] I won.
[01:25:32] It's weird because it's like that level is with the dog, I think.
[01:25:36] Yeah.
[01:25:36] And the dog is like he's like the second character you encounter.
[01:25:40] And he's like, hey, see that bright thing?
[01:25:43] I want it rolled up.
[01:25:44] And he's like the sun.
[01:25:45] He's like, yeah.
[01:25:47] And you try to roll it up, but you're not big enough because you everything you collect
[01:25:52] in the other levels, it turns into like planets and stars and stuff like that.
[01:25:57] And so to roll up the sun, you have to beat all the other levels so that you can then make
[01:26:01] a Katamari out of planets bigger than the sun.
[01:26:04] And then you can roll it up.
[01:26:06] Which doesn't make sense.
[01:26:08] It does not make sense.
[01:26:09] Yeah.
[01:26:10] Don't think about it.
[01:26:11] It'll be OK.
[01:26:12] Don't think about it.
[01:26:13] My favorite thing, I think we talked about this in a different episode, but like my favorite
[01:26:17] thing about this is that since it's the sequel to, what is the other Katamari game?
[01:26:23] The one that's not the sequel?
[01:26:25] Is it just Katamari Damacy?
[01:26:26] I think it's just Katamari Damacy.
[01:26:31] The first one?
[01:26:32] Yeah.
[01:26:32] The first one is Katamari Damacy Reroll.
[01:26:35] That's the remake of it.
[01:26:36] If the listener wants to buy it now, on sale right now.
[01:26:40] Oh, nice.
[01:26:41] $7.99.
[01:26:41] So the whole story of we love Katamari is that people loved the first game so much that
[01:26:50] they wanted a second game.
[01:26:51] And so now here we are with the second game.
[01:26:54] And every mission, in the first game, every mission was like, somebody was like, hey, I
[01:26:59] had this problem.
[01:27:00] And in this game, it's like, I love the game so much.
[01:27:03] I want this kind of level.
[01:27:05] And then the king is like...
[01:27:07] The king of all cosmos is like, let it be, my son.
[01:27:10] Well, no.
[01:27:11] He's always just like, I don't know if that's something we need to do.
[01:27:14] And then they're like, oh, but I love the game.
[01:27:16] And he's like, hmm, love.
[01:27:18] Yes, I would love to do that, actually.
[01:27:21] And that's how every mission starts without fail.
[01:27:26] And then if you fail a mission, he's like, you're letting down the fans.
[01:27:29] We're being forgotten.
[01:27:31] And it's very dramatic.
[01:27:32] And there's like thunder.
[01:27:34] Yeah.
[01:27:35] Which in this, with it being the re-roll, I don't know if this was in the first game,
[01:27:40] but we get every like three levels or so, you get a small cut scene, which I don't
[01:27:45] even think they call them cut scenes.
[01:27:46] They're just like storyboards.
[01:27:48] I think they call them like a storyboard cut scene even or something stupid like that.
[01:27:53] But of the king of all cosmos, his rise to power and how he became king and how he grew
[01:28:00] up as prince and what his father was like before him and how he met the queen of all
[01:28:06] cosmos too.
[01:28:07] And they fell in love.
[01:28:08] And I think they got a dog in one of them.
[01:28:11] And it's so funny because it's, it's all stupid.
[01:28:15] Yeah.
[01:28:16] Like it doesn't matter for a game to come out and have such an inconsequential
[01:28:22] story with useless cut scenes that don't actually have any real drama in them.
[01:28:30] But it's super dramatic.
[01:28:33] My favorite one is like near the beginning where it's like the king of all cosmos is like
[01:28:38] bowling or is he playing?
[01:28:39] No, he's playing baseball.
[01:28:40] I think that's it.
[01:28:41] Right.
[01:28:42] I don't remember.
[01:28:44] When he was prince, he was like playing baseball and he lost and got like second place in the
[01:28:49] tournament or something like that.
[01:28:50] And the grandpa of all cosmos at that point is like mad at him and yelling, takes the
[01:28:56] trophy and throws it in a river.
[01:29:00] And it cuts to like, you know, two scenes later, the old king is like dying in his bed.
[01:29:08] And, you know, the prince, the, the, our king or whatever, our dad is mad.
[01:29:13] And it goes over to him.
[01:29:15] And then he sees that, uh, the old dad actually went back to the water and grabbed the trophy
[01:29:20] out of the water and cleaned it up.
[01:29:22] And he kept it this whole time since he was a child.
[01:29:25] And I'm like, Oh no, right in the fields.
[01:29:27] Maybe.
[01:29:28] I don't know.
[01:29:28] This is stupid, but it's a thing that happens.
[01:29:32] Oh my God, Philip.
[01:29:33] I've described, I've discovered something.
[01:29:35] What?
[01:29:36] Uh, go listener.
[01:29:38] You do it to pull the car over that you're listening to pull the car over and go to Google.
[01:29:42] This won't work on the final thing.
[01:29:44] Uh, type in Katamari and just hit enter into Google.
[01:29:47] And then on the top, right, where it shows Katamari Demasi, the video game, there's a
[01:29:52] little ball being animated.
[01:29:54] Click on that.
[01:29:57] Click on that ball.
[01:29:58] You can play Katamari Demasi in your Google browser.
[01:30:04] Yeah.
[01:30:05] I'm picking up, picking up, picking up everything.
[01:30:08] Of course, it's running at one frame a second because my, my, you can, can you hear my fan?
[01:30:14] Oh, it turned off.
[01:30:16] Dude, my, this computer is not good.
[01:30:20] That fucking Katamari.
[01:30:22] The Katamari game in Google made my fan kick on.
[01:30:25] Can I roll?
[01:30:26] Oh, you can scroll down and stuff.
[01:30:28] Dude, I'm just picking up everything.
[01:30:32] I'm going to give that up.
[01:30:32] Why did they implement this?
[01:30:34] Who did this?
[01:30:35] Someone loves, uh, somebody, somebody grew up and they wanted to be a Katamari and then
[01:30:41] they made it.
[01:30:41] So this is a great Google thing.
[01:30:45] I can't wait to, I'm going to try to pull this up at work now and show people like, look
[01:30:50] at this.
[01:30:50] Show, you got to show it to your kids.
[01:30:52] Maybe they'll be interested in Katamari.
[01:30:54] We love Katamari.
[01:30:55] Maybe.
[01:30:56] I don't know.
[01:30:56] That is a good find.
[01:30:58] Excellent work, Nave.
[01:30:59] But the, the number thing I'm looking at though is, uh, you can definitely see how wild the
[01:31:05] artwork is with like that first picture of Prince on this, where he's just a face or his face
[01:31:12] just like three dots for PlayStation 2.
[01:31:16] This game is, uh, it's got art style, but it's also ugly as hell.
[01:31:21] I put in the same category of Silent Hill 1 where it's super ugly, but, uh, that almost
[01:31:26] adds to the charm.
[01:31:28] There's an art direction of this game though, I think.
[01:31:31] Like it is, it is like, if you play the modern Katamari games, it looks the same.
[01:31:37] Like it is on purpose.
[01:31:39] Yeah.
[01:31:39] It is on purpose.
[01:31:40] It looks this way.
[01:31:41] Cause they want it to, which almost makes it better.
[01:31:45] It looks like they using the, like the long distance, like death of a was death of you
[01:31:51] or whatever characters for everything.
[01:31:53] So it's like, you're not supposed to be able to look at this tree this close as you run it
[01:31:57] over.
[01:31:58] Yeah.
[01:31:59] And they actually make a deal of that with the loading screens where there are loading
[01:32:04] screens in this game.
[01:32:05] Even when we're on SSDs that take approximately like three seconds in the, but in the old
[01:32:10] game, uh, they would bring up the King and he would be like, Oh, we're going through a
[01:32:15] loading screen.
[01:32:16] We can't talk during loading screens.
[01:32:19] Low, low, low, low, low, low.
[01:32:21] And then once it gets done loading, he'd be like, and the loading is done.
[01:32:24] We can talk again.
[01:32:25] Back to rolling.
[01:32:27] But I think you can like control the head, right?
[01:32:30] Yeah.
[01:32:30] I think you like move it around the screen and make the, the L's flow around, which is
[01:32:35] pretty cool at the time.
[01:32:36] It's kind of janky on modern hardware.
[01:32:38] It instantly loads.
[01:32:40] And which is a sad thing.
[01:32:42] But also one thing that's really cool is that the beginning of every mission, the King is
[01:32:46] like explaining to you, like the lore of the land or something.
[01:32:49] He's like talking to you about something that doesn't fucking matter.
[01:32:51] And then you can immediately start going.
[01:32:54] And the moment you pick something up, he's like, Oh no, he's done it.
[01:32:57] He's rebelled.
[01:32:58] My son, my one and only boy.
[01:33:01] Yeah.
[01:33:01] Cause the timer doesn't start till you start like moving and picking stuff up.
[01:33:05] So it's, it's, it's good stuff.
[01:33:07] It's so silly.
[01:33:08] Like, ah, good stuff.
[01:33:11] Yeah.
[01:33:12] The character design is great.
[01:33:13] The art design, the music, even the funny little jokes in it where it's just like you
[01:33:18] pick up a character.
[01:33:19] That character has a name.
[01:33:21] What was like streets of rage where it's like Terry, the biker, where you picked up, uh,
[01:33:26] only it's like dancing man and school child and like school thugs when it's just like the
[01:33:31] same as the school child, but he has like bigger hair or something like that.
[01:33:36] Making him a, he has like the Jojo hair.
[01:33:38] Yeah.
[01:33:38] Every time you pick something up, there's a little, like little viewing glass in the corner
[01:33:43] that shows you what you just picked up.
[01:33:46] And most of the time it just pops.
[01:33:48] You can't even see what you're picking up.
[01:33:49] Cause you're picking up so many things.
[01:33:51] Yeah.
[01:33:52] But they just pop in and the composition of your Katamari matters at the end for scoring
[01:33:58] kind of, because it changes what your, the name of your Katamari is whenever it gets turned
[01:34:04] into a star.
[01:34:05] Cause if you pick up with just nothing but school stuff, when you're on the school level, it'll
[01:34:10] be like an elementary star.
[01:34:12] And it looks like a school as it's like floating in space.
[01:34:16] That's weird.
[01:34:18] But it's kind of annoying because some levels like clearly get skewed where it's like, oh,
[01:34:22] it's a forest level.
[01:34:23] And it's like, oh, by the time I finished it, I picked up 900 trees.
[01:34:27] So it's like, yeah, you have a vegetation based Katamari.
[01:34:32] Like, okay, that's weird.
[01:34:36] But I guess you can target certain things.
[01:34:38] Maybe if you really want to get like, I wonder what the a hundred percent run is.
[01:34:42] I got every flavor of Katamari.
[01:34:44] Yeah.
[01:34:45] Impossible.
[01:34:45] It's like they, they talk about it, the end screen whenever I wonder if it changes the
[01:34:50] type of planet you make, but I don't, I doubt it.
[01:34:53] Right.
[01:34:53] There's no way.
[01:34:54] I don't know.
[01:34:55] Maybe we are not experts at this.
[01:34:59] We're not the, uh, we're, if you were looking for nuanced discussion on, we love Katamari.
[01:35:06] We just like this game.
[01:35:08] It's a vibe.
[01:35:09] I think we're frozen this time.
[01:35:19] Oh, maybe not.
[01:35:21] Sorry about that.
[01:35:22] Okay.
[01:35:24] All right.
[01:35:25] And we're, I'm sorry.
[01:35:26] I had to talk to my daughter and now I'm very discombobulated.
[01:35:30] It's fine.
[01:35:30] I couldn't tell.
[01:35:31] It just sounded like, uh, I just heard a noise and then silence.
[01:35:35] You could have been killed for all I knew.
[01:35:38] Could have been.
[01:35:39] But, uh, yeah, this game is artsy, silly.
[01:35:41] Uh, is there any like particular levels that, uh, stand out to you?
[01:35:45] Because there are a lot of ones I did not like.
[01:35:48] Like the, uh, the crane level, uh, the burning levels where you have to like keep yourself on
[01:35:54] fire by collecting burning material.
[01:35:57] Those ones was kind of janky because if you didn't pick anything up fast enough to keep
[01:36:01] yourself burning, like you like keep a combo going, which sucks if you accidentally picked
[01:36:06] everything up too fast.
[01:36:08] You know, like, Oh no, I can't get up the hill to the bonfire to win.
[01:36:13] Yeah.
[01:36:14] There's one where like you can't pick specific things up and then the moment you do.
[01:36:19] Oh, about cow and bear?
[01:36:20] Cow bear.
[01:36:21] Yeah.
[01:36:22] Fuck.
[01:36:22] Yeah.
[01:36:23] And where it's like the map is covered in cows and bears and you need the biggest cow
[01:36:27] or bear.
[01:36:29] So you need to get as big as possible without touching a cow or a bear.
[01:36:33] Meanwhile, it's anything that could be a cow and a bear.
[01:36:37] It's like a, a wooden teddy bear.
[01:36:39] A teddy bear.
[01:36:39] That counts as a bear.
[01:36:40] A teddy bear.
[01:36:42] A traffic cone that looks black and white.
[01:36:45] That's a cow cone.
[01:36:46] And I'm like, are you?
[01:36:47] No way.
[01:36:49] It's so sweet.
[01:36:49] Or it's like a bear that's like, it looks like a piece of bread.
[01:36:52] It's like a bread bear.
[01:36:54] And I'm like, I didn't even see it.
[01:36:56] It was so small.
[01:36:58] You know, he just barely tapped it and then it just ends instantly.
[01:37:02] The whole level stops.
[01:37:03] Yeah.
[01:37:03] It freezes.
[01:37:04] And it's like, oh, you didn't get big enough.
[01:37:07] And you picked up the tiniest bear.
[01:37:09] And I'm like, I didn't want to pick a bread bear.
[01:37:11] You just haven't.
[01:37:12] I hated that one too.
[01:37:13] Or the firefly one too.
[01:37:15] Where it's like, you gotta collect fireflies floating around.
[01:37:18] Because one kid in the nature park is like, I need to study, but it's too dark to study
[01:37:24] a night.
[01:37:25] And the king's like, we need to collect fireflies so you can get bright enough.
[01:37:29] I'm pretty sure I got like the minimumest, like hot level I could have possibly been in
[01:37:34] that.
[01:37:34] And they were disappointed in me.
[01:37:35] Well, it's interesting to say that.
[01:37:36] Because you can replay the levels like four or five different times because they have
[01:37:40] like acts to them where it'll be like the he's like, OK, now I know you got fireflies
[01:37:47] last time.
[01:37:48] I need to do it again, but even brighter.
[01:37:50] And so they just raise the goal on you each time.
[01:37:53] And that's how you get more and more stars because each level has like a scaling difficulty
[01:37:58] because you can beat any level pretty easily.
[01:38:01] But going back to get like act two or chapter two done or chapter two.
[01:38:06] Three for the the farm or another farm.
[01:38:09] What was it?
[01:38:10] The zoo.
[01:38:11] The zoo one is like weird because it's like, oh, you need to pick up as many friends as
[01:38:15] possible.
[01:38:16] And friends are just animals.
[01:38:17] You just need to pick up animals.
[01:38:20] And after that, it's like, oh, you need to pick up specifically.
[01:38:23] I don't know if it's like dolphins or something.
[01:38:25] It's just like they scatter like five dolphins around the map and you got to go find them
[01:38:31] in a certain amount of time.
[01:38:33] I don't remember that one.
[01:38:35] Game's good.
[01:38:36] I'm not really sure what we're going to put on this.
[01:38:38] We can talk about the cousins.
[01:38:40] Oh, yeah.
[01:38:41] The cousins.
[01:38:42] So like Lilo's stitch, we've talked about this before on the pod, I think, where Ohana
[01:38:47] means family and family means no one gets left behind.
[01:38:50] All over the maps are your cousins and you just got to bump into them and roll them up in
[01:38:55] your Katamari and one cousin per level because there's multiple cousins in each level.
[01:39:00] You can save a cousin and they become an unlocked character that you can then use for your co-op
[01:39:07] partner, which we haven't talked about the co-op part of this game.
[01:39:13] Well, I just I'm looking it up because I was like, I want a list of the cousins and they
[01:39:17] and we love Katamari.
[01:39:19] They're not your cousins.
[01:39:21] They're your second cousins.
[01:39:23] Oh, God.
[01:39:26] Okay.
[01:39:26] So they can have a different roster than the first game.
[01:39:30] I guess so.
[01:39:32] So but yeah, my my do you have here?
[01:39:35] Look, here's the thing I'll put in this in Kester.
[01:39:37] But do you have a favorite cousin right away?
[01:39:39] Because you can play as them.
[01:39:40] I think we said that.
[01:39:41] But like as soon as you unlock them, you can play as them.
[01:39:43] So like I was always playing as beyond.
[01:39:50] Which is the stupidest one.
[01:39:52] The long neck boy.
[01:39:53] He is the banana shaped one.
[01:39:55] They are all very stupid.
[01:39:58] For a while, I did play as L'Amour.
[01:40:03] Which one's L'Amour?
[01:40:04] It's the heart one.
[01:40:05] I'm pretty sure.
[01:40:06] Oh, yeah.
[01:40:07] For a while there, I was I played as the mushroom a lot and also as Dot, which I don't see.
[01:40:17] Dot on this list, but it's like a star based one, which did you scroll down to see this
[01:40:24] other stuff like Katamari Damacy online?
[01:40:28] No, I just I just I do see that beautiful Katamari has half cousins.
[01:40:34] It's yeah.
[01:40:36] Yeah, there's a lot of what is going on?
[01:40:39] There's a lot of cousins.
[01:40:41] A lot of deep lore.
[01:40:42] Yeah.
[01:40:43] Katamari online is only in Korea.
[01:40:45] Yeah.
[01:40:46] I can't believe we got we missed out on Katamari online.
[01:40:50] And they don't have names.
[01:40:52] It's just question marks.
[01:40:53] What the fuck?
[01:40:57] Whoa.
[01:40:57] Oh, yeah.
[01:40:58] But so I played I played which is the strawberry one.
[01:41:01] Well, there is an unnamed Katamari cousin that represents the player in the dating sim Namco.
[01:41:07] Hi.
[01:41:09] What?
[01:41:10] What?
[01:41:10] That's a game.
[01:41:12] It doesn't have a it doesn't have a fucking wiki link.
[01:41:16] You know how they're blue.
[01:41:17] I'm going to have to just Google it.
[01:41:20] Namco.
[01:41:21] Hi.
[01:41:27] From Homestuck.
[01:41:28] Homestuck creator.
[01:41:29] I think that's the thing I recognize.
[01:41:33] How do you play this?
[01:41:34] Where's it at?
[01:41:35] I'm looking.
[01:41:35] It's a web.
[01:41:36] Oh, I found it.
[01:41:37] Here's the link.
[01:41:39] Oh, it's no longer up.
[01:41:41] Java.
[01:41:42] Oh, no.
[01:41:45] Apparently there's many archives.
[01:41:47] Some the only viewable are via archives.
[01:41:49] So you can't actually play the game anymore.
[01:41:52] Legitly.
[01:41:54] That's so disappointing.
[01:41:57] Let's see.
[01:41:58] Who are the the romance partners?
[01:42:01] The Galaga ship.
[01:42:04] Lolo from the Clona series.
[01:42:07] Valkyrie from the Valkyrie series.
[01:42:11] Meowkey from the Mappy series.
[01:42:14] I don't know any of these series.
[01:42:15] Oh, Donko from the Taiko Drum series.
[01:42:19] Hell yeah.
[01:42:22] Namco is.
[01:42:23] Oh, Mr. Drillers in here.
[01:42:26] Namco.
[01:42:27] There's a lot of characters I do not recognize.
[01:42:30] But I guess I'm not that up on Namco games.
[01:42:34] I didn't know Pac-Man was Namco.
[01:42:36] I thought it was like something else.
[01:42:37] Well, the only reason I know that is because of the fucking.
[01:42:39] Is it Namco versus Tekken or something like that?
[01:42:43] Yeah, Namco does Tekken, Dig Dug and Pac-Man.
[01:42:46] And Galaga, which they do the one up machines also like there's like Namco machines are there.
[01:42:52] And there's one at like our Costco, I think.
[01:42:55] And it is just vandalized to hell.
[01:42:58] That's just.
[01:43:00] Like every button is broken off.
[01:43:03] Hey, man, they're Costco.
[01:43:04] They're Costco guys over there.
[01:43:06] You know?
[01:43:07] Yeah.
[01:43:08] Yeah.
[01:43:09] Costco guys.
[01:43:09] We vandalized the Namco machine.
[01:43:11] I don't know what the fuck we're talking about.
[01:43:14] Is that your gang?
[01:43:15] Yeah.
[01:43:15] No, the Costco.
[01:43:16] What is it?
[01:43:17] Isn't it Costco guys?
[01:43:21] I don't know what you're talking about.
[01:43:22] Do you not know what I'm talking?
[01:43:24] Why am I in like these fucking.
[01:43:26] I'm just in these like here.
[01:43:29] You don't know about the Costco guys and the Rizzler and shit.
[01:43:33] And I've heard.
[01:43:37] I've heard the phrase, the Rizzler thrown around before, but I don't know what it is.
[01:43:43] I don't know, man.
[01:43:45] This is something that is not funny enough to put in the podcast.
[01:43:49] I'll just show you this afterwards.
[01:43:51] Okay.
[01:43:52] All right.
[01:43:52] Next point I have is Royal Reverie, which is a set of missions where you play as the
[01:43:59] king of all cosmos as a prince.
[01:44:01] And you basically go through each kind of like stages of building up your muscle and
[01:44:07] growing stronger and growing faster to become good enough to replace your dad.
[01:44:13] There's only like five missions or five challenges.
[01:44:16] And they're not like full missions.
[01:44:18] They're just weird challenge zones.
[01:44:20] Did you do this?
[01:44:21] No.
[01:44:22] I didn't know when you're on the main world, there's literally just like a button in the
[01:44:26] corner that's like press X to switch to Royal Reverie.
[01:44:30] So you might've just never noticed the button because I didn't until I fully beat the game.
[01:44:35] And I'm like, is that?
[01:44:36] I thought there was like more levels like, and then I noticed it.
[01:44:40] It's really short.
[01:44:41] It's definitely like a, a sweet treat.
[01:44:44] It's not like a, this is, this is horse armor.
[01:44:48] This isn't Shivering Isles for you.
[01:44:50] Oblivion heads out there.
[01:44:51] This is more like the Skyrim house DLC.
[01:44:55] Yeah.
[01:44:56] Hearth home or whatever.
[01:44:57] I don't know.
[01:45:01] That sounds right.
[01:45:02] I heard, I think I was listening to a podcast the other day and they were talking about the
[01:45:07] vampire DLC for Skyrim.
[01:45:10] And I think it's called like Dawn Guard or something like that.
[01:45:13] And they're like, oh, you can side with the vampires or the Dawn Guard.
[01:45:17] And then they were like, who the fuck would ever side with the Dawn Guard?
[01:45:21] And I'm like, say.
[01:45:22] I don't even know who the Dawn Guard is.
[01:45:24] Honestly.
[01:45:24] The vampire hunters.
[01:45:26] That's crazy.
[01:45:27] It's like, why would you ever sign with the losing team?
[01:45:31] Are they, aren't they, aren't they werewolves?
[01:45:35] The Dawn Guard?
[01:45:36] No, that's the, the companions.
[01:45:40] How do you remember all of this?
[01:45:41] Which is the fighters guild.
[01:45:42] Or werewolves.
[01:45:43] That's fucking crazy.
[01:45:45] I don't remember anything from Skyrim.
[01:45:48] I don't remember a single moment of that game.
[01:45:50] I don't think.
[01:45:51] I'm sure you, you remember Cicero probably.
[01:45:55] And you remember the part where you hung out with a nightmare mother inside her coffin
[01:45:58] while you eavesdropped on everyone.
[01:46:00] No, I remember.
[01:46:02] I think I remember.
[01:46:04] Was it oblivion or was it Skyrim where they give you the, the, the, we know like paper
[01:46:09] and then they show up next time you sleep.
[01:46:11] I think it's oblivion.
[01:46:13] Both games.
[01:46:14] Maybe.
[01:46:15] Yeah.
[01:46:15] I mean, that makes sense that they did it in both games.
[01:46:17] I remember that.
[01:46:18] I, I, I'm pretty sure it's an oblivion where that dude gets skinned alive.
[01:46:22] Right.
[01:46:22] The dude that's like, yeah.
[01:46:23] Lucy, a chance or something like that.
[01:46:25] I guess I just remember oblivion, which is wild.
[01:46:30] Actually wild.
[01:46:32] We spent a lot of time in oblivion.
[01:46:35] Anyway, I mean, I'm not saying Skyrim is a bad game.
[01:46:37] I just, I was in a, I'm in a trance when I'm playing Skyrim.
[01:46:41] I'm not like absorbing anything in any meaningful way.
[01:46:45] I'm just pressing buttons trying to get through it.
[01:46:49] All right.
[01:46:49] I don't have any other me points.
[01:46:51] Are you ready to head final words?
[01:46:52] Yeah.
[01:46:52] Let's fucking hit it.
[01:46:59] Did you say yeah?
[01:47:00] Yes.
[01:47:02] Okay.
[01:47:02] I'll take this first final words then.
[01:47:04] This game.
[01:47:05] Oh God.
[01:47:06] We didn't even talk about the co-op aspect of it.
[01:47:08] Oh shit.
[01:47:10] All right.
[01:47:11] Real quick.
[01:47:12] You can get another player in there too.
[01:47:15] Walk around the hub world.
[01:47:17] There's like a versus mode.
[01:47:18] I made Jana play with me, but the controls are really unwieldy for someone that hasn't put
[01:47:23] like, you know, 70 hours into the catamaran games.
[01:47:27] Beat the dog shit out of her and it wasn't fun.
[01:47:29] Pretty much.
[01:47:30] Like I even made my oldest, like my 17 year old play with me too.
[01:47:34] And I, of course destroyed her in it.
[01:47:37] You should have made them play each other.
[01:47:38] To make you go faster.
[01:47:39] I know that.
[01:47:40] What's the problem is like, like when you actually play like one-on-one couch co-op games,
[01:47:45] like you need to have even skills.
[01:47:47] Otherwise it's going to be a blowout every time.
[01:47:52] And so it's over-fighting games, racing games.
[01:47:55] Yeah.
[01:47:56] It's wild.
[01:47:56] I mean, like if you, it's like the only game, only co-op game that's not like that really
[01:48:00] is like rock band.
[01:48:01] But even then it's like self-consciousness.
[01:48:03] You know what I mean?
[01:48:04] You're playing on medium and getting 70% and I'm over there fucking, fucking on the
[01:48:10] drums, beat the shit out of it on expert.
[01:48:13] I don't know.
[01:48:14] I just feel that way whenever I'm playing DJ Max Respect on my Steam Deck while Jana's
[01:48:18] playing Tift or TFT right next to me in bed.
[01:48:21] And I'm over there, clack, clack, clack, clack, clack, clack, clack, clack, clack.
[01:48:24] She's going hard on this Korean pop music.
[01:48:27] But like she doesn't hear anything because you have headphones on.
[01:48:30] No, she hears the whole thing because I'm playing it.
[01:48:32] I'm blasting it.
[01:48:32] I have no headphones on.
[01:48:33] Oh yeah.
[01:48:34] She's just got this K-pop music.
[01:48:37] Soundtrack to your T2.
[01:48:38] I'm not even into K-pop.
[01:48:39] I just love the rhythm.
[01:48:41] I'm here.
[01:48:42] I was playing the Hutsune Miku game on the fucking Vita and I was like, I don't like
[01:48:47] these songs really.
[01:48:48] There's some of them that grew on me, especially if they had fun patterns to play.
[01:48:53] But like, you know.
[01:48:55] Rhythm games are just good.
[01:48:56] It doesn't matter what the music is at all.
[01:48:59] Well, you say that.
[01:49:01] Then you're playing Shrek the Motion Picture chart or whatever in Clone Hero.
[01:49:06] Oh my god.
[01:49:07] Dude, there's an Asai video listener where someone charted the entirety of Shrek in Guitar Hero
[01:49:14] basically.
[01:49:15] And then you just play all the sounds and all of the songs that play in Guitar Hero.
[01:49:19] The dialogue.
[01:49:20] Everything.
[01:49:22] And then whenever an actual song starts playing, he's like, I'm just playing bad reputation
[01:49:26] at this point.
[01:49:26] Yeah, it's just literally bad reputation.
[01:49:31] Fucking awesome.
[01:49:32] So good.
[01:49:32] Alright, back to final words though.
[01:49:34] Game is great.
[01:49:34] I recommend the Katamari series to everyone.
[01:49:37] Most people will bounce off the art style.
[01:49:40] The ones that stick through that are probably gonna bounce off the controls.
[01:49:44] The ones who stick through that are the diehard fans that are gonna write a Steam review or
[01:49:50] do a whole podcast episode about it.
[01:49:52] And that's us.
[01:49:52] So I recommend to everyone that it's not gonna stick.
[01:49:56] To the diamonds and not turning back.
[01:49:58] You know what I mean?
[01:49:59] You're the guy at the top in the meme.
[01:50:01] Don't get filtered.
[01:50:02] The game is great.
[01:50:04] It's fun.
[01:50:05] It's stupid.
[01:50:06] It's, I wouldn't say easy.
[01:50:08] It's a decent challenge, but not overly hard.
[01:50:11] Like, I was able to, you know, complete every challenge, every act.
[01:50:15] The only thing I didn't get was I'd haven't collected all the cousins.
[01:50:18] Which is just such a chore to go back and do.
[01:50:23] Yeah, this game is like bike riding.
[01:50:24] Once you learn how the bike works, you're like, oh, okay, I got it.
[01:50:28] And then you can just coast for like the whole rest of the game.
[01:50:33] Yeah, man.
[01:50:34] I fucking love these games.
[01:50:35] And they, it takes a second just to learn.
[01:50:38] But once you learn, it's just instant.
[01:50:39] Like, it makes sense.
[01:50:41] The controls are counterintuitive at first.
[01:50:43] But they make sense.
[01:50:45] And they're almost necessary for the way that the game is.
[01:50:48] Because if the game just played like a, I feel like if the game played how you think it should play,
[01:50:53] it wouldn't be as fun for some reason.
[01:50:55] I think half of the fun comes from the fucking struggle with the controls.
[01:51:01] Yeah, what is it?
[01:51:02] Who's the guy that pushes the rock?
[01:51:04] Syphilis?
[01:51:04] The syphilis rock going up the hill?
[01:51:06] The syphilis rock.
[01:51:09] Like, that is what makes the game sometimes.
[01:51:12] Even when it sucks.
[01:51:15] Yeah.
[01:51:15] Which, that's what, it feels Sisyphean.
[01:51:17] To fucking push the fucking Katamari over a ledge.
[01:51:21] It just doesn't want to go over.
[01:51:22] And you're like, fucking, I know you can do it.
[01:51:25] We've done this a hundred times.
[01:51:26] That, or you pick up a pencil.
[01:51:28] So now you have this oblong object on your Katamari.
[01:51:31] So now you gotta like maneuver.
[01:51:33] Yeah.
[01:51:35] God, the amount of times you like, you have something that makes you hop slightly when you roll over something.
[01:51:41] So you just miss it.
[01:51:42] And you're like, I guess I'm not picking up that milk jug because I have a traffic cone lifting me two feet off the ground whenever I roll over it.
[01:51:49] But yeah, you gotta pay attention to how you're building the roll.
[01:51:52] Does anyone ever pay attention to their Katamari when they're rolling?
[01:51:56] No, I don't.
[01:51:56] I just roll.
[01:51:58] If things like start, like once it gets unround, then I'll just like rotate slightly and I'll cylinder it for a while.
[01:52:05] Yeah.
[01:52:06] If he dies, he dies.
[01:52:08] I don't care.
[01:52:10] Anyway.
[01:52:13] All right.
[01:52:13] That's it, I guess.
[01:52:14] I think that's it.
[01:52:15] Yeah, we've made it through.
[01:52:16] It's weird we're not having a guest.
[01:52:18] And at this point, Nave, what are we playing next week?
[01:52:21] It's weird that we didn't have a guest and we're still like almost two hours.
[01:52:26] Yeah, it happens.
[01:52:27] I don't know.
[01:52:28] What are we playing next week?
[01:52:29] Do you want me to try and find a guest and use that list?
[01:52:32] Or do you want to have something in mind?
[01:52:34] We're approaching the end of the year.
[01:52:36] Maybe we'll talk off camera.
[01:52:38] Okay.
[01:52:39] Talk off camera as podcasting?
[01:52:42] I know.
[01:52:43] We don't do that.
[01:52:45] All right.
[01:52:46] And with that, thanks for joining us this week, co-partners.
[01:52:48] Maybe next time we can all roll up our dads together.
[01:52:51] Yeah, with the syphilis rock.
