[00:01:47] It's a show that me and my co-hosts do together pretty much every single time it's me and him. But lately, we've been having some fun episodes involving Star Wars, anything pop culture related. So movies, games, comics, all of that.

[00:02:00] We just hit Episode 50. So, congrats to you guys on how many episodes you've done because we hit 50 and it feels like we've been doing it for a while, but it feels like we just got started. It was a lot of fun.

[00:02:12] That's great. We actually had a lot of guests on too. So, yeah, that was... We just did that. It just went out. It's super fun. So our podcast is about Star Wars inspired stuff, Star Wars games, movies,

[00:02:25] anything pop culture related. So that's pretty much the run down of it. Have you had an episode on the most fuckable alien yet? Because I kind of want to be on that one. It's from Fatuba in Episode 2 or whatever.

[00:02:39] That's like a segment. We didn't really classify it as a segment, but we've done retrospectives for all the movies. We just finished all the nine of the Skywalker saga and Max Rebo is in there. We mentioned a few of them.

[00:02:53] I definitely am a Kid Fisto guy. I don't know what he looks like, but his name... Oh no. Aaron's... Aaron Froze. Yeah, my camera froze, but oh well. He's just going to be sitting there looking dapper. Dexter Jester. He's number one for me on that.

[00:03:28] I just want to copy Caleb's answer, first of all. But yeah, I'm Tatsunami from the Chat Tsunami podcast, a Scottish variety podcast that discusses topics from gaming and films to anime in general interests. As you can tell, I'm not a very

[00:03:46] decisive person. So I thought, you know what? Let's just lump it all together as one. And yeah, it's been running for about four years now, ever since the lockdowns. Yeah, I feel old already. My bones creak whenever I get out of my editing chair.

[00:04:05] You know, it's like something out of Star Wars. I just creep up and shuffle to the kitchen. But yeah, it's been a utterly fantastic experience doing it. We've done so many topics, so many theme months from, as I said, from gaming films. We've done like Terminator

[00:04:24] Month, we've done Sonic Month. Next month, we're going to be doing Mass Effect Month as well. So yeah, it's a lot of fun, I have to say. So are you an Andromeda apologist or are you going after him?

[00:04:42] Oh, no, no. What kind of Mass Effect player do you take me for? Come on. Yeah. I mean, some people, it's kind of cute in its way. Yeah, we get blindsided by the apologist every now and then. Yeah, like it's not that bad for my first Mass Effect.

[00:06:32] But before we get there, let's just check in with what games we have been playing. What games? What? Co-op question. Oh, you're right. I forgot about the co-op question. So, that's Naomi and Caleb. We have a notable co-op question where we ask you

[00:06:48] about a notable co-op memory in your deep, deep lore past. Something that shaped you to who you are, but it has to be centered around co-op gaming. So, it's got to be like, oh, I remember whenever the midnight release for Gears of War happened

[00:07:02] and we stayed up all night killing and getting killed by the krill. So, we'll start with you, Caleb. Do you have a notable co-op memory you'd like to share? I have so many co-op memories. Have you guys played... I'm sure you have.

[00:07:15] Have you guys played the game a way out? Yes. We've done an episode on it. That is, it's, you know, it is the co-op game. That, and of course it takes two, but those are some of my favorite co-op games because

[00:07:30] I love narrative games, action games, all that. So, I remember a way out and I was, I think I had just graduated high school and my friend came over and he was staying with me

[00:07:43] and we were just playing games all day long. So, I got this game called A Way Out and I was like, hey, let's play this game together, man. Best friend, right? We're playing the game together. I had no idea what was going to happen at the end.

[00:07:56] Can I say a little bit of spoilers on this? Yeah, I mean, were you the nose or the narc? I was the nose. Yeah. All right. We're playing this game way out, right? Best friends. We're playing all kinds of multiplayer games, but this specifically was a co-op game.

[00:08:13] So, we were playing it together and, you know, you're playing as like two criminals, right? A breakout of prison and you're doing whatever, whatever. At the end of the game, you find out that one is actually a cop and then one is, you know, a criminal.

[00:08:33] And the whole time I was playing as like the cop, the narc and I believe, yeah, I was actually playing as a narc and sorry, this is a memory that I, yeah, it's too soon and it was a long time ago.

[00:08:46] But at the end of the game, you know, you guys got to fight each other and I was, I was really, you know, I really didn't want to kill him. I didn't want to,

[00:08:55] I didn't want to do it to him, but I was like, you know what? I think I can beat him. I was like, should I, because I feel like if I actually do it's going to hurt our friendship. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:09:06] And long story short, I did end up beating him and it did kind of affect our friendship at the end. So that was kind of just a interesting cop experience because we were having so much fun

[00:09:16] playing the game through together. And you know, he was staying with me for a little bit. And then after that it's like, oh man, see you later. And then we didn't really see each other

[00:09:24] later too much after that. I don't want to spoil the full game, but play the game. It's super fun. Just like Lego Star Wars at the end of episode three. Yep. Yep. Yep. Very similar experience to that. Traumatizing. Yeah, it was very nice. Next up, Satsu,

[00:09:41] do you have a notable co-op memory you'd like to share? Yeah. So I was trying to rack my brain there because like you Caleb, yeah, I've got loads of good and bad ones. Yeah. I think one of the

[00:09:56] major ones I have to say is when I was in university and one of my friends was telling me about the Time Splitters games, which I know you guys probably all know very well. They are

[00:10:10] absolutely fantastic games. But yeah, we ended up going to a second hand game shop and I think it was only a five hour or so for the, I think it was the third one, Future Perfect. And my friend

[00:10:25] was like, oh, you should buy it and you should buy the sequel, which was only like a pound, two pound maybe. And I was like, I don't know. And everything is like, no, no,

[00:10:34] trust me, you will love these games. So I thought, okay, fine. So we bought it and then we ended up just playing that all night. Much like a student should, you know, I didn't get a

[00:10:46] wink of sleep that night. I just kept playing it and playing it. And yeah, it was just absolutely fantastic. And yeah, to this day, it's one of my favorite FPS games. Cannot beat it. I'm still sad that they don't have a remaster of it, but absolutely fantastic. Yeah.

[00:11:05] Yeah, we played that one growing up too. Yeah. Everything I've been Stephen had it and we'd always go over to his house and make cracked maps that were just terrible to play on. Fucking hate it. Like I'd sit down like we're making maps and far cry or

[00:11:20] fucking kill me. I don't know how to use this. You gotta play my custom Doom level. It's going to be great. It's terribly balanced. It's not great. The different characters you can pick though are really, really cool. Like there's

[00:11:32] eight million monkeys. You can be like a absentient gingerbread man, a humanoid duck, a skeleton sheriff. Yeah, deer. The killer clown is pretty cool. Yeah, exactly. But for first person also. So good. All right. Once again, we are video games podcast.

[00:11:50] Games we've been playing. Let's get in it. NAVE, what games have you been playing? The Valorant Beta is out, Phillip. You know this? You don't like Valorant? No one plays Valorant here probably, right? No. All right. Well, I am lagging. So what? No, you're good. No one

[00:12:10] plays Valorant here. No one cares about Valorant. I'm still on Team Fortress 2. Valorant Beta on the consoles. It's coming out. There's only like four people total playing on Xbox and I was

[00:12:19] one of them. Everyone else is on PlayStation. So I'd be like, how do you do this? Like hit the touchpad, you fucking idiot. What does that mean? I don't have a touchpad. I have a dome control.

[00:12:30] But as you can see, those were my four games that I played because they're two hours long each, just like Leo Legends and Counter Strike. I was doing pretty good. I was kicking ass.

[00:12:41] This game right here, I went 31 and 14. And it was the reason why we lost is because everyone quit on my team. It was just me versus five. And so Philip knows.

[00:12:51] Well, no, I already got so many kills. You know? Yeah, no, no, it was cheating because Philip knows if you're playing a Halo SWAT, then the more people on the enemy team, the better because

[00:13:00] you get to kill more people. But this is not that kind of game. It was really hard. But it was fun. It kind of felt like a custom game. So that's why I was playing it.

[00:13:09] It's kind of fun. I want to do so with the rise of I was a Camelot, Carp, Carponk. What's the Sony one? The other Concord? Concord. Concord. That's it. Yeah. Carponk. Like Carponk. Like why Valorant? Why'd you go back for that one?

[00:13:27] Because the beta just started. It's brand new. You could play on PC at any time. Oh yeah, with my PC? Philip? With my PC that can't even run. What was that game that we played?

[00:13:36] That shitty one? The last thing we played on PC was like a year ago. Awkward time? No. I know why you don't remember this because I forgot it too till just now. What is it? It's smiling on you or whatever. Whatever. What is that?

[00:13:51] Oh, that game. Yeah. I don't remember that. And all the dudes are emojis. Glitchbusters. Yeah, the word's used in there somewhere. Yeah, we got to review codes for that in the game.

[00:14:02] Did not run well on Aves Chromebook. It looks like an Nintendo 64 game and I played the game at 10 frames a second. It was unplayable and so I hated the game. Anyway, besides that Valorant beta,

[00:14:14] very fun on the console. Actually surprising how well it plays because I remember when Counter Strike Go came to Xbox 360. It played like shit because these games are made for mouse and keyboard. I don't know if you can use mouse and keyboard but I'm pretty sure it

[00:14:29] is matching me up against other console players. So I don't know if there are two separate lobbies and if I have to turn on mouse, keyboard player or whatever. But as you can see, it's not...

[00:14:39] I mean, I was doing really well just generic first person shooter player. So it was neat. If you're not a play Counter Strike then you are going to be able to pick this game up really simply. The only difference is that there are skills. So it's

[00:14:54] like you got to pay attention to that. That kind of throws off the Counter Strike feeling. But the good thing is that you have to buy your skills. Everyone has one skill by default

[00:15:02] and then you have to buy the rest of your skills every round if you die, which I kind of prefer, I think, because having all the skills all the time would kind of fucking throw everything into chaos. The game's chaos already so... I don't know. Pretty cool though.

[00:15:18] Sounds cool. Yeah, we could definitely do an episode on that when it full releases probably. Probably won't do the beta. That's it though. Really? I've been playing nothing. I've been playing Magic the Gathering so I'm fucked. I mean, still doing that. I'll step into this then.

[00:15:34] Games have been playing... I've have been playing anything besides cassette beast and System Shock. The new one that got... Well, it's System Shock 1 that got remade. I got a clip in here if you guys want to pull that up. That clip is hilarious.

[00:15:46] It's only 30 seconds. It's the average System Shock experience. So I go through an elevator because I'm... You know, that's just how this game is. It's got different levels all separated by elevators which are the loading screens. I have my little electric energy gun. I walk out. This

[00:16:04] is an area I have not been in yet so stealth mode go a little crouch. I start changing my ammo type because I'm not sure what I need. I see something run up on me and it instant kills

[00:16:13] me. I was at full health I think or I just like respawned and was heading in there. Let me check. No, it wasn't at full health. I was at half. But that is the experience of System Shock. It's

[00:16:24] like this old... It feels like old prey, I guess? Or not old prey. New prey where it's an immersive sim but you don't know what's going on and everything's old and janky. But it's got a fresh

[00:16:37] coat of paint and the controls are pretty tight. Are you guys System Shock fans anyone? I actually just started playing that same one and something happened to me like that

[00:16:46] in the first 30 minutes and then I turned it off. Oh yeah, I mean that's the game. It feels like they were playing Morrowind and you just walk into a cave and you're like oh look I'm going to start

[00:16:57] looting this one piece of gold out of an urn and then a specter lich king floats up next to you and starts beating the dick off you. That's just how these games were I guess. The amount

[00:17:08] of jump scares... Like I have been more scared of this game than I have any other game I played this year. Like scarier than Callisto Protocol or Dead Space Remake or any of the horror

[00:17:21] games like the amount of times I've turned around and because the audio is just terrible because you hear somebody like a zombie wheezing in the next room and I'm like oh he's fine.

[00:17:30] But I guess I walked slightly too fast so he decides to like nothing personal like sneaks up behind me and I turn around and he just now hits me and I just go... And James is like

[00:17:41] what are you doing? Like this is even scary you're finding a Scooby-Doo monster because it looks like something from like you know a thousand Knights of Frights or whatever like this polygonal asshole. Like I was a Roomba that killed you too. Yeah it was a little Roomba.

[00:17:56] Suicide drone just like rolls up on me explodes and this is the first encounter with those in the whole game and I guess it's kind of good game design because it gives you a long hallway

[00:18:06] to see it but I was like dicking with my gun so I didn't even like think about looking at it and I saw it I'm like what the fuck is that? That just happened to me in Valorant where I walked

[00:18:15] up on something and I was like what is this and then it just blew up and kills me. Oh okay well don't go near where that was. But so far System Shock actually really good I'm really enjoying

[00:18:25] it but I enjoy games I guess like nothing did you get it but I don't blame you for dropping what I'm saying like I can get through gunk in games like you know like I'm gonna have to

[00:18:40] definitely it caught me off guard I was like I don't have the energy for this right now. Oh dude it is a drain but okay it's polished though I like it. I didn't know this until

[00:18:50] like halfway through the second level but it's okay to die because it bio shocks you like it takes you right back to a vivapod or whatever and brings you back to life.

[00:19:01] I thought this was a hardcore one save one run and so I was like quick saving in every room if I got fucked up too bad I would reload a save I thought it was like Fallout 3

[00:19:11] or Doom or something like that yeah so it's like I was like making very slow progress until I realized that dying doesn't matter now I'm a goddamn terminator just like just blowing through rooms

[00:19:25] like taking all the shots it doesn't matter if you die you don't need healing items worst case scenario is you have to walk back so games pretty good what's up. I've only ever

[00:19:34] played System Shock 2 but in the first one do you get to pick a class because I think there were like different schools in the beginning of two that you get to pick from and they dictate so far

[00:19:43] no okay but I am excited because I didn't know this game was getting a remake until I saw this copy sitting at my local library and I'm like I'm checking that out because like I

[00:19:53] had been very interested in System Shock 1 and 2 but I know the PC version is not great like I think like the first one doesn't have like mouse look like for some reason the visual movement is like you're doing wsad and like the arrow keys or something like that

[00:20:12] and I'm like I can't be doing that like come on Doom has mouse look you know so this is definitely probably the best way to play System Shock if you're looking for

[00:20:22] the games that inspired uh I don't know like was it Deus Ex or whatever and Deus Ex Bio Shock yeah I mean I haven't played Deus Ex or any of the ones human humankind evolved or whatever

[00:20:39] human people revolved or yeah yeah the human revolution I don't know there was a whole series of games that I kept seeing go by and I just never played them it's like Metal Gear for me until I played Phantom Pain

[00:20:53] anyways uh game's good next up Aaron what you played uh with the recent expansion or season yeah season to Diablo 4 the game is like much better than ever uh they've heard me rant about this game and the last episode

[00:21:10] we recorded together but yeah dude it's it's everything's so smooth now they instead of like nerfing classes into the ground now they've really evened everything out they've increased the xp game from everything you can uh for those that haven't played Diablo 4 basically whenever a new

[00:21:28] season comes out you have to play as a brand new character instead of taking your your samey ass character with you throughout the whole thing um but basically yeah Diablo 4 it's still still good still awesome I'm still playing it um and then I played a little bit

[00:21:42] of this game called Just King it was on sale on Steam for like three or five bucks I believe and it's just no we're only the king no it's it's like vampire survivors but um so you've got a party of

[00:21:59] five kind of how I remember that show from the 90s party of five so it's a party of five the king in the middle and if the king dies it's game over but you have this party of like

[00:22:09] four characters surrounding the king then you can pick different classes like um archer hop light knight wizard devil shit like that and you can upgrade them or no you don't upgrade them you can give them items to give them passive boosts like more damage for this more cooldown

[00:22:26] and in between or after after combat sections they'll gain xp and then you can you can feed them other like what is it the essence or whatever from other characters of the same

[00:22:37] air and is this style is a roguelike yes you fucking caught me yeah yeah it's good though it's awesome man looks like a lot of fun yeah it rules all right I just want to direct everyone's

[00:22:52] attention to party of five what is this what was the three's company spent on no it's it's way different that was a that was a weird sound for my mouth but party of five was this

[00:23:03] like teen drama show from the 90s or these five kids their parents die in a car wreck and and so they don't know yes they wake up in an anime world yeah I wish the time my whole family

[00:23:17] got turned into a slime yeah it looks like a telamundo but an american one telamundo you're telenova yeah that's it I don't know what I'm talking about so anyway listeners go watch party of five you know you're talking about just king

[00:23:36] there is a new mode in league of legends of all games that I just played last night I don't know if you guys are leaguers or lullers or whatever I'll never play anything made by riot

[00:23:45] games yeah but uh they have a vampire survivor mode in and now called like rush where it's five player co-op vampire survivor with um just the uh the characters that sell skins so like jinx

[00:23:59] like basically like the star guardians again yeah yeah just those ones that's cool they have a whole mode and once again you it's roguelike too so you do unlock new items each game and you have it a

[00:24:12] separate rush level that you can level up and I'm like playing this like man we could we could do an episode on this like when me and jane are playing it together it's not great but I could also

[00:24:22] see myself playing it for another 10 hours well I when I type in rush league of legends I just get a bunch of images of an asian guy maybe we're not selling it well it's like the hulk from

[00:24:32] Eric Andre show where it's just some dude painted green next up sassu what games you and playing what do you want to share with the uh our co-op partners at home well I've been working

[00:24:50] through my backlog I have to say um it is honestly not helping see when you have the game pass and you're scrolling through all these games and you're like wow look at all these games I am

[00:25:01] never gonna play in my life I've got the download done but I'm never gonna play them so one of them was one that I framed recommended it was like oh we should do it for an episode and that was

[00:25:12] Alice madness returns which came out like I don't know over 10 years ago it is such a good game but by god is it heavy like when you're playing through it you're like the game plays so fun

[00:25:26] but the story is just so dark so after I played that I thought right I need a fun indie game to balance it out so I decided to play a game called I think it was a short hike

[00:25:40] um yeah yeah oh it's such yeah it's so lighthearted it's so fun you're playing this sweet bird trying to get to the top of a mountain and I'm like wow this is the complete opposite

[00:25:52] of Alice madness returns yeah yeah if you want like a short hike is only like an hour and something long yeah like if you just be lying or whatever there's another game on game pass that's

[00:26:04] Gator game or something like that little little game little game it is a short hike but if they expanded it's like 15 hours oh my god it's just too much almost yeah like it is it's interesting

[00:26:19] if you really need more lighthearted silliness uh it's there it's like psycho knots if nothing bad happened he's basically he obviously feels yeah but that's a good spread uh anything else

[00:26:32] your planer is that it do you want to share yeah no that was really it I mean I did try the new modern warfare 3 because it came out and I'm gonna be honest not a fan

[00:26:43] that was you had 400 gigs to sacrifice oh man that's so big yeah is it 300 gigs I have no idea why I I played the campaign and you know usually I'm not one of those people

[00:26:57] who's like oh you know the campaign's only four or five hours oh it's fine but my god I blasted through it and I was like this was not worth the four rivers and the 200 gigabyte or 300 or whatever

[00:27:11] so I was like no so yeah I'm ashamed to say that plan exactly the only blue mine as well but no that was it really all right Caleb what have you been playing what do you want to share

[00:27:25] I've been playing two very interesting games um they're both for PSP I've been playing jack and daxter the lost frontier and then ratchet and clink size matters so I just beat jack and daxter lost frontier I'm playing them because they came to PS5 so uh I've played

[00:27:42] every game in both of those series um the only one I never finished was jack and daxter the lost frontier um so I played it I and I beat it and let me tell you this game is incredibly difficult

[00:27:59] because it's uh there was so many mechanics in it for a PSP game uh it was it was it was unbeatable in my opinion unless you're using the rewind feature I think steam has it for some of their

[00:28:15] like some of their games you can like get pause it and then like let's say you die you can just back it up to where you yeah you got hit yeah so emulator stuff gotcha yeah yeah exactly and um

[00:28:27] I I don't know if it's maybe a skill issue or whatever but I would not have been able to beat the game without that um it was fun so now I can say I beat all of them it was interesting uh

[00:28:39] you know just something to pass the time with and then ratchet and clink size matters so I've I've played all of them I beat all of them I even beat this back in the day on PSP but

[00:28:48] it's just a nostalgic game for me so I like jumping back into these games sometimes especially if they remaster them like system shock or just re-release them on a modern console so I've been playing through size matters as well and um I guess we were talking about valorant

[00:29:03] a little bit I jumped in the concord to play at co-op with one of my friends and I had a lot of fun with it but I jumped into it because it was free like the beta was free to play so

[00:29:15] I don't know if I'm gonna pay money for it if they make it free to play I'll maybe hop into it because in terms of the co-op aspect I had fun playing with my friend but I don't know if we

[00:29:24] want to spend the money to uh to do that so but you know yeah it's not just been money on concord whenever you know valorant is free exactly so in marvel the marvel rivals made us going on too

[00:34:18] distraught i wonder why that he's never gonna see it again he's been crying uh and sobbing throughout the day and he refused to eat any of his meals oh no nine-year-old for context this is not

[01:18:40] we'll probably get into a little bit later but you can mix and match different types for different cool combos and shit oh yeah there's so many types too and it's interesting now we'll get to the

[01:18:50] types whatever yeah i see you there's no triple battles no no triple yeah yeah you would think so because there's a bunch of different characters you can bring along there are triple battles

[01:19:00] though like i don't know if you guys have played that far but eventually you do get assistance which are the third person on your team different story missions will pop them in and they'll fight

[01:19:13] alongside you and you'll fight against like three enemies at the same time so it'll do three on three but you only control your normal two yeah because that's how it is when you call for help

[01:19:24] because some pokemon have called for help like the summon the ally yeah yeah oh okay naeve you wrote a gameplay slow you're talking about like the combat or what holy shit fuck yeah this was the primary aggravation towards the last like four or five

[01:19:39] hours that i played was that there's no fact for a game revolving around cassettes there's no fast forward like oh man it fucking and by the way so i understand why there's stamina so that

[01:19:53] it like limits you how far you can glide and do stuff why is sprint behind stamina for what reason other than to make it tedious there are specific platforming challenges that require you to hit

[01:20:04] jumps while you're doing your flame sprint and you need to time them just right and i guess there's like limits where it's like they need you to only do it on certain points or whatever but there are like navigational challenges involving platforming and your

[01:20:18] stantima and gliding and all together and swimming at one point i just hate breath of the wild i hate what it's done yeah it's weird because like if you look at octopath traveler two specifically has built in

[01:20:33] fast forward yes i don't know if you guys have played that one dude so does fucking overlord there's so many modern games that have this fast forward and it is like fucking unicorn has like five different levels of fast forward you can just skip every fight if you

[01:20:47] want to and it's just like oh this happened and then you're like okay good and then you just go and do your other stuff because it's like after a while you hear the same like attacks over and over and

[01:20:56] like you see the same animations over and over and it's like sometimes you'll die and you you didn't have a point to respawn at over there so now you have to walk all the way back and it's

[01:21:06] like oh i'm getting annoyed just like seeing it happen i started running away from fights and i slowly became a little under leveled and i was like this is starting to build up on me

[01:21:16] and the animations can take quite a fucking while to like god forbid if you fuse together it's a wait for them to complete the fusion and then you do your fucking move yeah like even the

[01:21:27] fucking final fantasy pixel remasters have uh they have fast forward on every single one like most modern rpgs or jrpgs or whatever they have a fast forward but this could definitely use a fast four at least like maybe auto battle at least just so we can

[01:21:43] grind battles without having to like tap so many buttons and watch all the animations the problem also is that this game when you we'll talk about this a little bit but i got to say

[01:21:52] right now what we're talking about how slow it is the when you switch your care pokemon out if your pokemon and normal pokemon is like paralyzed and you switch them out that pokemon's

[01:22:02] not paralyzed that comes back in but you in this game are paralyzed so even if you switch pokemon you still continue to be you're not paralyzed yeah you keep your stats it's worse

[01:22:11] you get conductive which means that every time a lightning attack is used you get hit and that's another like 10 seconds of animation you're going ah and like your health going down and like oh god

[01:22:23] you're so conductive and you're also poisoned and you've also been leached or someone else has been leached so there's a thousand different damage steps it's like playing match the gathering and you just got to resolve every fucking card effect before you can take

[01:22:35] your turn like oh that's my upkeep so i gotta tap on tap all this stuff and retap the oldest which at first is like really cool i was like wow this is cool there's like so many different

[01:22:46] things but after like 15 hours of that you're like man i if there was a fast forward button there would it would fix so much shit just to fast forward through all of it it'd be fine

[01:22:57] yeah or at least like um i don't know if any of you guys have played earthbound but like with earthbound when you come into contact with an enemy that's way lower level than you

[01:23:05] it'll just skip combat and give you xp like i wish more games would do that shit like do that if if you can for sure beat that enemy with no problem yeah skip the combat give me xp in this one the

[01:23:16] enemies do run away in the lower areas but you are fires dash sprinting through things so you just run into their ass if you don't see them in the next screen that's the thing is once you

[01:23:27] don't get that fire dash you are actually accidentally running into battles all the time because you just don't see and it's like in pokemon there's like five like squares that the enemies can see

[01:23:37] that their vision but in this game i have a little screen i would one time i i hit somebody and i thought my game froze because like they were so far off the screen and they were slowly

[01:23:48] walking down to me and i was like oh somebody's okay it's incredible yeah we can talk about the map and just general traversal you have different ways to travel around you have like the fairy

[01:23:57] wings that let you float and catch wind there's the magnet that lets you levitate and move objects i guess you have the flame dashes let you dash and then you have the ability to swim which you get later on

[01:24:12] like that you didn't have for a while that that's all i unlocked i don't know if there's more there's gotta be some form of jump thing because that's where the dog is like you have no way

[01:24:20] to get the dog up there there's like platforms going up i'm like oh you could probably just jump maybe bigger because you can jump in the game normally but it's like a little shitty jump but yeah

[01:24:32] so the traversal industry because this game is all about there's a big lean on exploring this map and finding secrets finding see your chest solving puzzles there's threw me off yeah there's a lot

[01:24:44] of exploring like very breath of the wild yeah it is very breath of the wild it's like hey there's a whole area go explore and i'm like i don't want to do that i just want to go get my gym badges but

[01:24:56] half of the challenge of getting the gym badges because there are gym badges is to navigate to the the captains you have to fight so i don't know it's it's weird because it almost feels like

[01:25:10] this is the flip on pokemon this is their popshovet where they're like this is what pokemon could be because pokemon is just walk into the area walk down the long hallway or explore the uh

[01:25:23] the viridian forest and then pop out the other side this is like you got to navigate the path now you got to climb a mountain just to get across don't the new pokemons have like a bunch of

[01:25:32] different like stories happening at once now though kind of like yeah this carlin violet has like four i think going on at one time yeah there's like the sandwich there's the the master's there's

[01:25:44] the sandwich quest line in scarlet and violet yeah where you're trying to make good sandwiches they they kind of uh are a little bit for exploring in in cassette beasts though because you get those

[01:25:55] different stickers that give you kind of cool moves or passes and shit like that sometimes sometimes though like hard sometimes sometimes it's like oh it's just like a fucking tackle like just plain as tackle it's like i default which we can highlight that the stickers are

[01:26:12] you can swap them around on like at any time it's not like tms and pokemon where you lose the tm like you you can just put whatever on whenever whenever you want or you can turn normal attacks

[01:26:24] into stickers too so it's like oh my sheep learn psychic or whatever at any point you could take psychic off of your sheep and give it to your uh stack of toilet paper or whatever the the monster

[01:26:35] is like some of them are real weird the traffic we should talk about our starters too at some point that'd be cool yeah sure uh i don't remember what the choices were because i played this game when

[01:26:47] it first came to game passed way back so i don't even know what the other choice was i don't get to pick you your character is someone is like do you like spooky things or cute things and so i picked

[01:29:31] and his whole thing is that he can use a plant type that can set himself on fire become a fire type if he needs to which is metals l2 that character philix has a pokemon that does that

[01:29:44] just by default he's like a painter like mushroom and then he paints himself into plastic and then puts it on other people and it hurts them or something i don't know yeah he can also do water

[01:29:55] like it's very cool because it's like imagine pokemon but you're changing your pokemon type stirring the battle like oh charmander i need you to be an electric type or something yeah

[01:30:05] yeah so the map is very big uh the only fast travel points are the subway tunnels that you can find and boy howdy they are hard to find like there were some areas where i'm like i just can't

[01:37:08] with the mario kart where they were in the car you know where we all like are locked together and we're progressing through like battles in a row wherever where we're both like each of us are one

[01:37:20] of the duo that could be pretty good but that's like the normal couch co-op mode okay so i'm thinking that like what it is is good enough uh i don't think this needs an mmo part i would like to see

[01:37:34] if there's like an online battle arena type party or whatever like is there a ranked mode for this nave that you noticed i don't think so yeah you do you do get to so there are like little dudes

[01:37:44] in the round on the map that are like raid bosses that are just super fusions and like uh whenever you start one if you're in a multiplayer lobby you can invite everyone to your lobby but you

[01:37:54] can only have one other person join you which makes sense but it also makes the fight a lot easier because now instead of just having your six characters your six pokemon you have 12 at

[01:38:04] your disposal or actually it'll be one less because your partners aren't there and your partners are bow guarding that last pokemon but you can't take the pokemon off of there yeah off of them

[01:38:16] which i feel is so much better than the raids in like sword and shield for instance like you guys ever play those yeah that's kind of what i was thinking yeah yeah it's the same thing but without

[01:38:28] all the long loading and connecting and waiting for people to join and then slowly chipping down their health it's like a regular kind of pokemon battle is it better than pow world when your base gets rated and then your 76 giant pokemons start running forward everyone's shooting their abilities

[01:38:45] at once and the game's frame rate goes to one because there's so many particle effects uh maybe i don't know kaleb i see you link something in here what is this oh it's a tier list

[01:38:57] i didn't see it like a fish there's no like official i guess competitive mode or whatever but they're showing based on like smog on um data yeah of like what's used and what's what's mostly

[01:39:10] used and what's never used this is the ooo ranking is it oh whoo no i think that's new over over use maybe i think it's over yeah overused um underused rarely used never used maybe but

[01:39:26] um they they kind of like ranked pokemon in like similar ways too but yeah yeah um just found that on there because i don't know the usually like you're playing this the first time through at least like

[01:39:38] me i don't know just by looking at them like you have no history with them so you don't know which one's gonna be good or bad so um i guess here's a little chart of it but i just went

[01:39:47] with what looked cool but it would be cool if there was a ranked or maybe like a competitive online type of thing because i know with pokemon i'm a huge pokemon fan and yeah with like all the

[01:39:57] games i play like ranked on them for a little bit until i get you know tired of playing ranked on there but there's another uh monster tamer game on game pass do you guys know what it's called

[01:40:11] is it monster sanctuary that's it yep i got you phil thank you uh that one has an online uh multiplayer as well i think oh okay okay this game if you want something more in that tier

[01:40:23] because besides i think you have to like i don't know independently look for groups in cassette beast like look for people to one v one me let's go yeah all right besides that and co-op

[01:40:34] we can do versus battles which i did go against naïve whenever he only had like an hour in the game and yeah dick off of him with my eight hour max ranked fucking pokemon and just beat the dog

[01:40:47] out of me i didn't have any hit all these like abilities i was just like hitting him with spit like my turns would take significantly longer than his is i'm like setting up targets

[01:40:58] throwing up protected walls like it's it was just ridiculous uh and we can trade so i guess i could have given you some new mods but that would have been weird i refused yeah i said no

[01:41:10] but that's pretty much the only co-op mode there's not a lot of co-op and we're in our own instances so there's probably parts where like for instance when you drop into the land vampires houses i assume

[01:41:25] i can't follow you in there i don't know about the vampires holy shit yeah well we can go into the quest so this whole you the whole premise is you've been ezekide into this island or whatever

[01:41:37] from your own world and everyone else here from other worlds not the same world as you and there is a large real estate corporation that has formed and their whole premise is that

[01:41:49] there is no money on the island but they're gonna acquire all the land so that when money does exist they can charge insane rates for people to use the land smart yeah i guess your job is to go out

[01:42:03] and kill the landlords pretty much it's it's such a good story it really is yeah and they're all gray which is kind of cute they look like vampires yeah uh they all are in these little shacks these

[01:42:20] these like little buildings or whatever and the only way in is to drop in from the skylight that they all conveniently have which makes them in their own little puzzle is like a lot of them

[01:42:31] require you to navigate to a higher point and then use your butterfly wings to glide down to it so navigation plays into these quite a bit is like a little challenge then you get in

[01:42:42] you have to do a little battle with them uh the battles are never hard because they generally always have the same Pokemon i forgot the dude's name because each of the main quest lines has a

[01:42:51] character attached to it i don't remember this guy but which one i don't remember the land vampires he's the second guy you get that has like the plastic Pokemon yeah he's he's the uh white hair or whatever that's a vampire or something yeah i think

[01:43:10] judeine that's it oh yeah yeah who did everyone use most because i used the original chick i was like i'm right or die with kaley first first yeah i used her the most too with her i used her as well

[01:43:22] yeah her french hat baguette yeah yeah croissant yep so pretty cool uh the other uh main quest is the arch angles angles angels arch angles that one came out of nowhere yeah like yeah that's pretty cool

[01:46:44] this is exactly medical magica holy fuck all right so yeah there's the archangels the land vampires uh the rangers is the gym badges so 12 of them uh once you get your ranger license you can

[01:46:58] go collect the badges and basically you just have to find the gym leaders out in the wild they each have like a navigational challenge to get to them and then you fight them and they give you the

[01:47:07] stuff there's one of each type pretty much so it's like oh there's the plastic one that uses a lot of gambit abilities because there's a lot of abilities that are separate from the types that

[01:47:18] are just kind of interesting like gambit where it doubles your stats but you die in three turns that's awesome yeah hell yeah it's the gambit or there's one guy that like his whole thing is he

[01:47:31] uses all the wall abilities which is really annoying because like in the pokemon games you got protect and detect and stuff like that right and this they're like or it's all the substitute ability

[01:47:43] there's no like protect is just substitute or you just sacrifice some health to throw up a wall that makes it last for longer turns yeah the good thing is i had that wind chick that had

[01:47:54] hurricane which destroyed walls right away and i was like oh i'm just gonna do that right away i think i have like six of these you can do these in any order like an on the screen philip

[01:48:04] skipped the fourth one i i did like the first second third and then it was like the seventh the tenth the night oh like there's a bunch of spots it's so rare to find them well they just look

[01:48:15] like random assholes and i was skipping them all i was like i don't want to fight i don't want to fight no more all right and then the other quest because i didn't i don't even think i got all the

[01:48:24] main quest but there's the anime cat girl quest yeah that was the fuck i didn't come across that yeah i didn't but this is how you look into it it's it's it's pretty silly so the whole

[01:48:37] premise is you have philips who is a artist who draws basically alternative world comic books only instead of comic books it's like um you're like flip picture books things yeah they're flip

[01:48:49] flip books which is weird whatever he's like in my world we don't have comic books we have flip books whatever and his first character he drew when he was like 15 was this purple cat girl

[01:49:00] with red and blue eyes he was also a ninja and has an angel wing and a bat wing anyways she apparently exists in this world too and she's on a quest to purify all the elemental shrines

[01:49:29] so all the people come from like different part times in the world so that comes up a whole lot like wait if you're like talking to people but also so whenever you meet this guy in the base

[01:55:57] super interesting there's like a glass stain which is literally a glass like a like a stained glass fairy yeah you know what i mean and then um rat rat casale it's like a giant fairground ride it's

[01:56:10] just but it's just like a plastic rat like yeah that's weird there's a lot of weird yeah i yeah i spent a lot of time just uh just grinding battles and xp just to see what the evolutions were like because

[01:56:22] some of them are really cool and a lot of them give you choices as to like what kind of vibe you want like instead of using thinking pokemon say a stone or trading them or friendship and

[01:56:30] shit like that it'd just be like like left or right you pick right and you're like electric dog turns into a bigger electric dog or something yeah they're really really cool yeah like the one

[01:56:44] the snake uh oh yeah yeah it's kind of early on you get them but you can remaster them to three different forms yeah based on like what you pick i think that's that's like that's cool it gives

[01:56:55] you gives you the choice and like you said it's not just stones and stuff like that but it's interesting like i play a lot of pokemon like roms and stuff where they do so many

[01:57:07] different things with the formula but like this is this is actually like really interesting for that you know pokemon you know rpg type formula with the edgy with the edginess to it um i saw i saw

[01:57:20] i was reading a review and it was like it's pokemon but not as good and then it's like smt but not as edgy and then it's like stardew valley but not as i don't know i forget what it said but

[01:57:33] it's like an interesting mixture of all these things yeah okay but i think that my favorite thing about it is just the uh the way the the all the types work together with the moves uh like

[01:57:45] it's because that's that's one of the coolest things about pokemon like with the double battles you can you can strategize with the the different types and switching in and out and stuff but with

[01:57:53] this it's a little different because you know you transform into the beast itself so the the effects stay with you so it's a little bit like you gotta it's not like a perfect clone but

[01:58:04] you kind of got to rethink how you play and it was just fun learning that for the first time and i kind of want to jump back into it because uh it's just it was it was a lot of fun to play

[01:58:14] and learn because you know it hasn't been around that long you don't really you know pokemon you know what the types are and stuff and what happens but this is like all new so it was yeah

[01:58:24] it's fun to like learn it for the first time in uh the experiment pretty fast like i was worried like oh man i'm never gonna be able to remember a whole new type tree and type chart but it the way

[01:58:34] the pop-ups come up and they're like oh plastic can turn into poison when you burn it type stuff they had that pop-up come up like at the first time it happens in every battle and i'm like okay

[01:58:44] good so now i know there is an option in the menu to go turn it off there was one meat point that i didn't put in here but there is a song that plays in the town and it just sounds like a

[01:58:56] it's a normal song until you go indoors then the mix of the song changes and all of a sudden you can hear the vocals that's so funny because whenever we were i was playing with rachel i was trying to

[01:59:05] explain that to her she didn't really understand what i was saying but well if you played banjo because it's really cool you know that all the notes are actually playing but whenever you go

[01:59:15] underwater they actually increase the xylophone and the bass drums and they pull down on the trumpets super bullshit like that but it is sick it is sick yeah and the song is really emotional yeah yeah whenever it's i switch over to the tv and it's blasting

[01:59:35] you gotta remember that too yeah the one thing i would want to talk about at the end too is that like the sometimes the effects i don't understand necessarily how they work so the

[01:59:47] conductive i didn't understand but like one time like both of my creatures got conductive and then it started bouncing between them like 17 times and killed one of them i was like what that's what

[01:59:59] happened what happened like i don't i don't even understand how they how that happened sometimes like it'll do the conductive thing and it does it on hit with electric attack so there's like

[02:00:09] a rapid fire attack that does based on your type so if you get somebody conductive you can then fire a rapid fire attack and it will bounce multiple times between the conductive pokemon and do an

[02:00:22] insane basically win like there's a lot of moves that are like that anyways let's take this run to our final words i'll take these first ones so this game is listed at 20 bucks this game is

[02:00:34] probably worth 30 bucks honestly i pay 30 bucks for this game no it's on game pass though so i didn't have to yeah but this game is very well done a lot of the games i play for the pod and get

[02:00:46] swiftly deleted afterwards but this one i think i'm gonna finish it out like i i'm not gonna be able to play it for another 10 hours straight it's like i'm gonna drop in and play for like

[02:00:56] 30 minutes at a time probably go do a couple battles listen to a podcast while i do it and just take it easy because this game lends itself to casual playing which i feel like some other rpgs

[02:01:10] actually don't like at any point you can drop in there's map markers telling you where to go you're never like oh no i don't remember what i was doing like every time you drop into this game

[02:01:19] you're always you know five minutes away from your next quest marker it's never oh no uh i gotta restart this whole dungeon because i forgot how the water temple worked type deal like you can always

[02:01:32] find your way where you're going so this is a big recommend for me the co-op isn't huge but it almost doesn't need to be because being able to play this game with your friends just enjoying at the same

[02:01:44] time as you i would enjoy that in other games as well like we look at you can play uh i don't know what fable two like that if you wanted to instead of actually having someone in the game

[02:01:55] you'd be like oh they're just in the world with me as a little floating orbs just vibin is vibin so i have big recommendations he wants these next final words

[02:04:50] with the fusions the power of friendship something you would see in that anime but i thought they did it in such an endearing way that yeah that i can only recommend that people

[02:05:03] play it and i feel as if this is like the perfect game pass game because i feel as if that a lot of people who oh they're not sure about it or whatnot or think oh it's a pokemon clone it definitely
